This is my first post. Sorry if it’s not formatted correctly.
I recently sent a business proposal to an old boss of mine. I worked for her for a year and half. Only left the position because the company couldn’t afford to give me the raise I earned. We had such a good professional and personal relationship. To the point that I would occasionally house sit for them and we would go out together.
It’s been about 2 years since I worked for her. As I’m trying to earn more money, managing different social media accounts, I offered my services to her. She owns 2 companies and I know she doesn’t have the time, nor does her assistant that I love, to manage it herself. I have experience and would be able to give her more exposure.
This Friday will be 3 weeks since I sent the proposal and 1 week since I reached out to offer any additional information they needed. Had they had questions or concerns. Since it was the first of the month they said they were busy and would get back to me soon.
Due to our professional and personal relationships being really good I did expect an answer by now at least.
So how long do you wait before reaching back out or even rescinding the offer?

Now did GG ask for proof of address or ID when they took my money? No of course not. Well they're asking for it now.
No problem I thought, as per UK government guidance a UK driving licence in combination of with a passport is considered solid undeniable proof of identity AND address. This is pretty much my only option, as I don't directly pay the utilities, and I am currently on a career break studying for a Masters degree online, so I don't receive any communications with my name and address on.
Well not according it GG it aint. Why you may ask, when it absolves GGPoker of all liability should you commit fraud or money laundering on their site, as they followed the UK government guidance? Because Fuck You, that why. Even the fucking gambling commission in the UK accepts drivers licence as proof of address when making a request for any personal information they may hold on you, so why don't you GG? What about bank statements you may ask? Well apparently you can't redact ANY information from the document you provide. So I have to trust some guy earning minimum wage with my full bank account details, as opposed to when I securely deposited my money with the full protection of encryption that even a supercomputer working until the heat death of the universe couldn't crack? Fuck that.
What about other documents then? Well I did spend ages verifying my ID with HMRC in order for them to produce a letter with the only piece of identifying information on it being my National Insurance number. Not ideal you may say, but I say better then my bank details.
So off it goes to the GG support, but no apparently a dated letter with my name and address on it from a government department is not proof of ID. And now that I've typed all this rant out I do realise there is one readily accessible utility bill that I personally pay: my mobile phone, and the piece of information on that (apart from name and address ofc) is the amount of money I pay to my operator. Check mate motherfuckers, now I can withdraw all my money and fuck off back to Stars.

New to this sub, so if this is an issue that has a known fix, please feel free to link the relevant thread to save your own time and the effort of explaining.
I recently began using my PC again after a period of inactivity (roughly 2 months) and I noticed a significant performance drop-off that caused me to do some inspecting. Some applications have been loading slower, buffering for far too long for the specs I have (shortlist: Intel i5-10600K, 32 GB 3200 MHz DDR4 RAM, NVidia GTX 1070 8GB), and from what I can tell, the issue is coming from "Antimalware Service Executable" drawing significant resources (constant "Very High" power usage spikes along with anywhere from 10-20% of active CPU processes) at seemingly random intervals.
I have done some Googling to see if there are any quick fixes, and have tried various things including setting exclusions to Windows Defender to see if those would help, but to no avail. My theoretical next step is to simply disable Windows Defender, but I want to ensure my computer's security before doing so. As far as I understand, free Malwarebytes (which I have had installed for some time) does not provide real-time protection. I also have a paid NordVPN subscription with Threat Protection on, but I do not know the level of security that actually provides.
My question here is, what would you good folk recommend I do? What are some good, free, reputable real time protection services I can use in place of Windows Defender? I don't expose myself to unnecessary risk online, but I can't help but feel a bit hesitant to raw-dog the internet with no active threat protection service. Is Nord's threat protection sufficient? Are there any fixes I may have missed for Windows Defender? Am I even correctly attributing "Antimalware Service Executable" to Windows Defender? Any and all suggestions are welcome, and thanks in advance.

I was working for a company in Dubai for around 2 years and I resigned in mid-2023 because I was unhappy with my career progress. After resigning, they paid me my final salary, gratuity, etc... I had asked my company to keep my visa active after resigning while I sorted things out to get my new visa, however, some issues prevented me from obtaining sponsorship from another entity so I informed the company of my situation and asked if I could work with them part-time and they would keep my visa. They agreed and I worked part time for 5 months but during that time they didn't pay me. Then they informed me that they wish to cancel my visa and discontinue my part-time work, I informed them that there is no problem for me with this as long as they paid me for the 5 months I worked. They agreed to pay me and we set a time-line for the payment. The payment for the first 2 months I would receive after handing over my documents and laptop to them, and this was completed successfully and I received the payment. The remaining 3 months we agreed would be paid upon visa cancelation. However, they are asking me to sign a document as part of that process that waives my rights to any pending dues from the company in order to finalize the visa cancelation process. They have sent me several emails asking for this document to be signed and claiming in the emails that the remaining 3 months pay will be transferred to my account once the visa is cancelled.
I am scared to sign that document and get scammed if they decide not to pay as then I'm not sure I can demand from them the rest of the payment legally. They have told me by email that this document was for the End-of-service benefits they already paid me from my initial resignation in 2023 but I am still having doubts because the document just mentions that this is for all pending dues the company owes me and does not specify. In their emails, however, they mention repeatedly that the remainder of the payment will be transferred when the visa is cancelled.
Are their claims in the email legally binding for them to pay after my visa is canceled or are they trying to maliciously trick me and not pay the remainder of the amount, leaving me with no legal recourse to retrieve my money?
TLDR; company asking me to sign visa cancelation document before paying me final portion of my salary claiming in numerous emails that they will pay the rest of the amount once visa is cancelled. Are their claims in the email legally binding for them to pay or will I be left without legal recourse if they don't pay me after the visa is canceled?

Some random messaged me on discord saying he wants to give me 4 grand for free through paypal or cashapp. Obviously this is suspicious and I’m sure it would trigger alarms for the amount of money at either service, but is it dangerous?
I could really use the money and I have never seen anybody use this type scam before (if it indeed is a scam)

I was so tired yesterday after my first week as a flight attendant (and it being my heaviest period day). I laid down for hours upon hours feeling exhausted
today, though I slept in pretty late, I felt better and well rested once I woke up. I was able to take a longer shower, shave, etc.
I really reorganized my suit case and room (very necessary everything was out of sorts), removed my nail polish (it was a mess), moisturized, derma planed my peach fuzz, did my makeup, clipped my nails, started doing my laundry. put drysol (to block sweat pores don’t judge or tell me it’s unhealthy) on my arm pits.
made a grocery and shopping list. cleaned the large closet mirror in my room. etc.
this stuff was very necessary as I felt like SUCH a crusty mess before this.
there’s still more I have to do but my room and life feels so much cleaner.
I still have to fix my hair and get ready to run errands. mainly grocery shop. i’m not quite sure what to buy bc im leaving for a possibly another 4 day trip. so I don’t wanna buy things that will spoil. but I also don’t want a bunch of ramen and snacks with no vegetables or protein.
i’m thinking of still getting the lettuce tomato carrot chicken chip combo bc i’ll try to premake stuff and maybe buy a ziplock bag. cuz I wanna try having more veggies
plus i’ll have ramen. I already have eggs. I’ll get raisin bran maybe.

I am purchasing a vehicle for business purposes and want to take advantage of Sec. 179. The vehicle costs 75K, but my business makes about 35K per year.
I have other business expenses that I also claim - this reduces the total income to appx 25K - How much vehicle deduction can I take for tax year 2024? do I deduct entire 75K in first year ? or can I claim 25K for next 2-3 years?
I read online that "The section 179 deduction is only available in the tax year the vehicle is purchased and placed in service for business use, and the vehicle must be used over 50% of the time for business purposes. " is this accurate?
how do I handle this? if I cannot claim the entire amount, then I would want to find a cheaper vehicle to purchase.

So I had to call the number because the online was giving me a loop. Basically I have a 17 year old and when I tried running it as an adult it said they were too young, when running it as a child it said they were too old. So I call the number on the back of the card, got the flights I wanted and everything resolved. Then when I look at the invoice it went from what was a $2,300 flight to $1,600. Super stoked with that level of customer service and it's the second time that I had to call to book travel, I'm pretty sure that's going to be the way I'm going to do it in the future.

Living in a small southern town, you get used to the way things are. I grew up as a military brat, so my childhood memories are a blur of packing, unpacking, and getting settled. It had been seven years since we arrived, and nothing but the grace of God would make me move again. A few years ago, my father got orders to station at a base in the middle of the Mohave. I was only seventeen then, but after a few dozen screaming matches, I decided to strike out on my own a little early. I got a part-time job at the cafe, which was enough to rent a little run-down shack a couple of blocks from downtown. As far as I was concerned, I was living the dream—serving coffee a few hours a week and spending the rest of my time hanging out with friends, listening to music, and drinking.
That particular morning started the same as any other. I woke up around noon with a text from Mark to meet me at the cafe. Took me about two hours to get up and head over. The sun had just begun its descent as I pushed the door to the cafe open, the bell above tinkling softly. The sound bothered me a little bit, but I couldn’t tell why. Sarah walked in, catching the tail end of our conversation. "Sorry I’m late, I had a breakout and had to stop by the pharmacy. Upped my allergy meds. I fucking hate pollen," she said as I scooted over to make room for her on the bench.

We finally managed to pry the side door of the factory off, which broke free from the hinges and smashed against the floor. Stepping inside, the air was thick and rancid as we bounced the beams of our flashlights around the packaging floor.
"We should split up," Mark suggested. "Alex, you and Sarah check out the storage rooms for the chemicals. Jamie and I will find the control room and see if we can get the power back on."
All of us nodded as we went our separate ways. Sarah and I wandered down the dark hallways, kicking open doors and looking for anything that looked vaguely like chemicals. The corridors were dark and damp, with black mold snaking along the walls like veins.
The first few rooms we checked were empty, filled only with dust and the remnants of long-abandoned equipment. Each door creaked as we pushed it open, revealing more decay and desolation.
As we moved further down the hallway, the mold seemed to become more aggressive, spreading in thick, dark patches along the walls and floors. The air grew heavier, making it harder to breathe. We kicked open another door, our flashlights revealing more of the same—nothing useful.
"This place is a bust," Sarah muttered,
"Let's keep looking," I replied, though I was starting to feel the same way. "There has to be something."
We continued down the corridor, our footsteps echoing in the silence. As we approached the end of the hall, something caught my eye. One door stood out, covered in black, creeping mold that seemed to pulse and writhe. Tendrils of fungus snaked out from the edges, reaching out into the hallway.

Inside, our flashlights revealed a horrifying sight. At the back of the room sat several pallets with dozens of boxes of peaches each. But it was what grew from these boxes that will haunt my nightmares till my dying day.
The entire back wall was consumed by a towering fungal mass. Thick, fleshy stalks jutted out from the base, climbing nearly to the ceiling. The surface of the fungus glistened with a slimy, wet sheen, appearing almost like rotting flesh under our flashlight beams. Each stalk was covered in a mottled, sickly green and yellow hue, with patches of black mold that seemed to pulse in the dim light.
Interwoven within this horrific sight were bulbous growths, each one throbbing rhythmically, as if with a heartbeat of its own. They resembled obscene, overgrown tumors, ready to burst at the slightest touch. Long, sinewy tendrils extended from the main mass, creeping over the boxes and along the floor like the fingers of some malevolent creature, seeking out any life to ensnare.
The tendrils near the door twitched, slowly inching their way toward us as if aware of our presence. The air was thick with spores, glimmering in the light like tiny stars, each one a potential harbinger of decay and death.
"Oh my god," Sarah whispered, her voice barely audible over the sound of our own breathing. "What is that thing?"
We stood there, frozen in shock and disgust, before I slammed the door shut.
"Let's get the hell out of here," I said.
We hurried back down the corridor, our footsteps echoing in the oppressive silence. The lights in the facility flickered on, casting a blinding white light. I heard a bubbling, groaning noise emanate from behind the fungal door, sending a wave of nausea through my body.
We met back up with Mark and Jamie in the main area and quickly told them what we saw.
"Yo, that sounds sick," Jamie exclaimed. "We should blow it up. I found the chemicals in the control room and these bad boys are ready to go," he said, holding up a pipe bomb.
"Yeah," Mark agreed, his eyes alight with excitement. "We'd be doing the world a favor, getting rid of that thing."
Sarah shook her head, her face pale. "No way. I'm not doing this. That thing... It's not normal. We need to get out of here and call someone who knows what they're doing."
Jamie frowned. "Come on, Sarah. Don't be a buzzkill. This is a once-in-a-lifetime chance to do something epic."
"Epic?" Sarah snapped. "That thing is dangerous. We don't know what we're dealing with. I'm not risking my life for some stupid joke."
