2024.05.15 17:51 roseyposiepie Passed Step One

Hi all,
I've been lurking in this subreddit for the past two months and I got the P today so I thought I'd give some advice and do a write-up on my experiences.
First and foremost, I had a disability and had to apply for accommodations. I started the process in November for my test in May and submitted a packet of disability records and medical records going back to elementary school. If anyone needs accommodations, start as soon as possible and get a disability consultant if you can.
I used UWorld throughout my first two years of preclinical to study for NBME tests during my curriculum so I started dedicated with probably 30% complete and an average of 60%. The day I took my test I had 75% complete with an average of 64%. UWorld is a study resource first and foremost, so I spent a lot of time reviewing corrects and incorrects and walking through what changes to the question stem would make the given options the correct answer.
I only did Forms 25-27 because my school only gave us 3 vouchers, and I couldn't afford to buy more CBSAs, but I also did UWorld Self-Assessments 1-3. Scores: Form 25 (diagnostic) 56%, Form 26 64%, Form 27 72% (the week before I took Step 1), UWSA1 68%, UWSA2 62%, and UWSA3 69%. I got sick a few days before I took the test so I stopped studying and focused on getting better (chronic illness sucks), so I didn't do the Free 120 like I planned. But I had recovered by the time I took Step 1. Taking a few days before the exam off was probably the best thing I did for myself, actually. I didn't realize until I was getting better how exhausted and burned out I had been for the past few weeks.
I used CramFighter by Blueprint Prep to organize my study schedule. It was completely free. My main resources were Dirty Medicine, Pathoma, First Aid, and then reviewing those UWorld questions. I started doing 40 a day and the two weeks leading up to my exam I was probably doing 120-160 a day. I usually did a full practice test every Monday (take it in the morning, review in the afternoon) and then Tue-Sun spent my morning working through UWorld questions and my afternoon reviewing content. I usually studied 5-7 hours a day, depending on how my week went. I had 6 weeks of dedicated, but I decided to take the test 5 weeks in and delay to the extra week if I needed it (I didn't, I enjoyed my week off).
Day before the test, I woke up early so I would go to sleep early, and I spent about an hour and a half exercising out the stress. Day of the test, I had a big breakfast full of protein and fiber, and snacked on protein bars throughout the day so I didn't have a blood sugar crash. I also drank about 2 liters of water. Use your breaks! I spent them walking around my testing center or meditating (I know it sounds lame but breathing work actually works).
My best advice would be that you are your own worst enemy. If you think you're going to fail, you're more likely to fail. I told myself the entire time that I was definitely going to pass and that studying for it was just going through the motions. Otherwise, I think I would've been paralyzed by the stress.
Good luck to everyone out there!

2024.05.15 17:50 TorontoNotesAnki Toronto Notes - (MS4/R1) Internal Medicine Deck - 15K cards

Hello everyone,
I'm excited to share my Toronto Notes deck (only the medicine booklet for now). There isn't really a great Canadian resource out there and so I made one. Links in the comments because they keep getting flagged.
This deck covers the entire Toronto Notes Medicine booklet (IM+Neurology) in the style of Anking with screenshots. There is a demo at the end of the video. It is 15,000+ cards currently and so you will definitely need to be selective about your approach to using it (hence the video) because it took me 6 months to finish making it and mature the whole thing. I am working on SOME primary book areas (EM, FM, Anesthesia, Pali, Psych) and may or may not finish 1-2 surgical decks promised in the video if it rains a lot in the next 1 month, I can't cycle outdoors, or I get bored.
I found this deck invaluable for my MS4 experience, letter hunt, and enjoying Medicine Team Jeopardy, and wanted to share it more broadly than just locally. Feedback on it was very positive and it's quite useful for the subspecialties included and there's a lot of stuff in here that came up in junior (even senior sometimes) resident teaching. As discussed in the video, overkill for the MCCQE as it doesn't test the Medicine book to this level of detail.
Also if anyone wants to finish some areas that are missing (someone please do Peds and OBGYN) feel free to reach out. This reddit account is solely for Anki and so I won't be monitoring it - please comment on the video.
Hopefully this is useful and if/when I get around to adding the other areas that would make it relevant to a broader audience I'll post an update.

2024.05.15 17:50 PhoebeIsGay My PC won't update past version 19H2

I would like to preface this by saying that while I have been using computers and playing games all my life, I don't know SQUAT about computers BUT I try my best to be good at following instructions.
I bought my PC from iBUYPOWER and recieved it in January 2019. I've learned in the past few months or so that it never updated past version 19H2 and from what I can tell security updates have been succeeding but anything else hasn't. I have downloaded the Windows 10 upgrader from Microsoft's site as I saw that might help online but after 2 attempts it goes through the whole process and my computer is still at the same version. I'm not sure if there's been error codes somewhere but I haven't seen anything specific popping up during these attempts.
I read online that I may have to update 1 or 2 versions at a time and that I would have to track down ISO files and wanted to see if there was an easy way to find those or if there are other solutions I may have missed. I am absolutely willing to give any additional information needed. Thank you!

2024.05.15 17:50 sodafunny Compliments after a blow job

The last two guys I’ve been with, gave me very high praises after they came from my blow job. I like going down and pleasuring the guy 🤷🏻‍♀️
My question is… is this normal? I know it’s a compliment and should be taken positively but I can’t help but feel gross out that they said it. Kinda kept at it for maybe 2 mins. I never know how to respond.

2024.05.15 17:50 nonbitingfly Passed Yesterday!

Whew, so glad that’s over! What a relief! I provisionally passed yesterday. Thank you so much to everyone in this group for the help and encouragement. Paying it forward by sharing my experience and study methodology.
I’ve posted a few other times here leading up to take the exam but rather than linking to those posts, I’ll just recap here.
My background:
I’ve spent 8 years in security training and awareness. I was recently laid off from one of the big tech companies. No technical background whatsoever. I have a bachelor’s degree in marketing, a bachelor’s in finance, and an MBA. No formal education in IT. Two years ago, I studied off and on for about a year and sat for the CISSP. But I didn’t get it. I made it to 150 questions and didn’t pass. So starting out with the CISM, I had a lot of test anxiety and really didn’t want to feel like I felt when I failed the CISSP.
My study resources (in order of time spent):
Total study time: ~30 days about 2-3 hours per day
Study Methodology:
Study material overview:
Echoing what everyone else says here: the QAE is key. The exam questions are super similar in structure and difficulty. I learn best by taking practice questions so that’s where I spent 85% of my study time. You just need to make sure you're reading the explanation part, even if you answered correctly. There's good information included in the wrong answers.
Book wise, I probably wouldn’t use Chapple’s book again and would opt for the Official Review Manual. And I really only used the book to reference areas I couldn’t get my head around. Do I think the QAE was enough? Hard to say. I had a decent foundation starting out since I’d studied for the CISSP prior. But you can see from my first practice exam score that I was no expert starting out.
Again, repeating what most people say, PocketPrep was decent for testing knowledge but I found the actual question wording to be unnecessarily confusing, at times (sorry, Gwen!). I liked the audiobook for drilling concepts into my brain while I was gardening, cooking, driving, etc. I really liked the questions and answers at the end of each chapter. I feel like hearing the questions being read out loud and having to think about the answer triggered my brain to work a little differently.
How I managed my test anxiety:
A few days before the exam, I drove to the testing center to see where it was. This alleviated some anxiety about parking, where I actually needed to go, and how long it would take me to get there. I saved my second stab at Practice Exam 2 for my final day of study which was two days before the exam. I pretended it was the actual day of the exam. I woke up early, had my coffee, ate some breakfast, did an exam meditation from Calm, and then locked myself in my office with ear plugs and sat for the test. Took me about an hour and a half to complete the practice exam and was good for building some stamina. The day before the exam, I did zero studying.
Day of the exam:
My exam was scheduled for 9AM. I’d been fighting a sinus cold a few days prior (hello allergy season) and I coughed ALL. NIGHT. LONG. Not only that, but I’d been coughing so hard I pulled a muscle in my neck the night prior. When I woke up the morning of the exam, I was working with about 2-3 hours of sleep. I felt terrible. Had my coffee, ate some breakfast, cried a little and felt super sorry for myself, popped some Advil, pulled myself together, and then drove to the exam center. I’d brought a little pack of tissues and some cough drops but I wasn’t allowed to bring them in with me. But that turned out to be okay; it forced me to take breaks every 30 minutes or so. I’d walk out of the exam room, blow my nose, grab a cough drop, take a deep breath, and then get back to it. Since I was so exhausted and having trouble focusing, I think this helped keep me alert.
I found the exam to be really similar to the QAE. The questions were straightforward and I didn’t feel like I was doing mental gymnastics like with the CISSP. I read each question several times and, before even looking at the possible answers, I paid attention to what my brain was serving up as an answer. Lots of questions around business impact analysis, risk assessments, risk management and BCP, DRP and incident response. Questions posing scenarios and asking “What should you do FIRST?” I flagged maybe 20 questions and came back to them before ending the exam. I changed a few of my initial answers but not sure if that was wise. I’d say I felt fairly confident I was passing as I was answering questions.
When I clicked the “End Exam” button, my heart starting pounding. “This is it,” I thought. But no, that wasn’t it. There’s a survey. And the survey asks if you used ISACA’s official study materials and your satisfaction with them. I was thinking “How do I know if I’m satisfied with the study materials if I don’t know whether I passed or not!?” After I quickly made my way through the 15 question survey, my heart started pounding again. Alright, now, THIS is it. But again, it wasn’t. I had to answer a survey about my exam center. For the love of Pete, another 15 questions. I blew through those questions as quickly as possible and FINALLY, I got the “Passed” screen. I had a huge smile on my face and intentionally took a long moment to just take it all in.
Side note: a week before, I booked myself a 90 minute massage for later in the day of the exam. I figured it’d be a great way to decompress regardless of whether I passed or not. And it was such a clutch move. Definitely do something nice for yourself after the exam because you deserve it!
Hope this is helpful to someone. Study hard, prepare well, believe you're going to pass, and go for it!

1.Các tác phẩm văn học chủ chốt của nền giáo dục VN luôn ở xứ bắc kỳ,mà đó là ở trong nền giáo dục thôi chứ thực tế văn hóa ở nam kỳ gần như ăn đứt ở nhiều khía cạnh(ca hát,văn hóa sống,nền ẩm thực,..)

2024.05.15 17:50 robursiena Help with wetroom shower tray

Help with wetroom shower tray
So we have 3 levels now.
Red is the existing waste pipe and where the waste from the shower is going to go.
Green is a drop from blue so that the wetroom tray can be at the same height.
And on top of all this we want to microcement.
My plan is:
  1. fit the waste into the red bit with the ideal fall height.
  2. fill the red bit with cement so it is the same height as the green bit.
  3. use tile backer on the green bit and put the shower tray on to match the height of the blue bit, minus 6mm for the cement board.
  4. tile on the cement board on top of the wetroom shower tray to make more sturdy.
  5. lay underfloor heating.
  6. apply some thin layer of sand and cement everywhere adding a little bit of a fall on the blue bit to go to the shower tray?
  7. apply microcement.

2024.05.15 17:50 Dramatic-Cheek7576 Stopping Testosterone

Hey guys!
Basically I'm in the beginning of my detransition. I'm 17 y/o, afab & started testosterone 11 months ago (my last shot was a 1000/mg injection two months ago, so it will run out next month ig).
So, a time ago, I decided I want to stop taking testosterone cold turkey. I think, the path I took was necessary to get the mental state I'm in now. Still, I kind of regret what I did. Even, if I want to block this thoughts. I know, this questions exist in here a lot, but I need answers especially for my situation.
I didn't have any surgery's, so my body will produce estrogen on its own in the future again. Buut, of course, my voice dropped and this makes me somehow.. dysphoric? Idk, I like my voice. It's pretty androgyn but I guess too low for a woman. The moment I talk, people assume I'm a man or at least give me weird stares.
  1. The question that I have is, will it like „feminize" a bit again? I know, the voice changes should be irreversible and I don't have a lot of hope. But I saw a lot of detrans woman who made the experience of getting a lil higher voice after a few months. I didn't do Hrt for that long and I'm a teenager, that gives me a bit hope. Is it possible? Other than that,
  2. what should I expect in general? What will change and how long did it take for you, if you were going through the same?
  3. Should I get on hormonal birth control to make it through the time, until the testosterone stops making it's job inside my body? I'm so scared of more changes during this month.
  4. Will my shoulders become "thinner" again?
  5. And, when will the hormonal acne stop? Will it stop? I've had acne before, but now it's pretty much everywhere.
Thanks beforehand!!

2024.05.15 17:49 Personal-Subject-425 How many Egg Retrivals is too much?

When we started this journey, my husband (M40) and I (F42) made the decision to do up to 4 egg retrival before we start transfering. Actually, I think it was me that set that capped number of retrivals. Why 4? I was naive and convinced that we will get all the embryos we will need and/or we agreed that we will transfedeal with whatever we get by that time...
Now that we completed 3 retrivals and resting up before we start retrival #4... I am concerned that we will not get enough. We have only got 1 normal embryo. (Actually, we managed to made 5 embryos total. The other 4 were tested as abnormal. Hence the only 1)
So my questions are:-
1) how many retrival is too much? I read that the average number of recommended retrivals is 3-4, after that couples should consider other alternatives... I think that is how I came to the capped amount of 4. Is this true?
2) I am 42 this year, I've read that some places advice that retrival pass 43 is pointless?
Let me know if anyone has any success stories or experience at or pass 42 yrs old and more that 4 retrivals?

But, he’s in nursing school and he’s very busy. I don’t wanna distract him from his studies, so I don’t really text him. Plus he’s not much of a big texter. We don’t talk much during the day which sucks, but I’ve noticed that he’ll be on social media instead of call me or text me during the small times he has free. It makes me feel like he doesn’t truly wanna talk to me. But, I don’t wanna jump to conclusions. What should I do?

2024.05.15 17:49 rgilman67 RV Starlink power consumption

We boondoggle with our RV fairly often and have 400w rooftop solar and 4 golf cart batteries. This provides enough power when the sun is down to support our energy needs until the next day, w/o much to spare.
  1. Has anyone measured Starlink's energy consumption?
  2. Can we turn off Starlink at night when we are not using it?

2024.05.15 17:49 The-Malix Nothing OS is painful.

For context, I am a software engineer, used plenty Android smartphone in the past, and I'm generally considered a tech savvy
I was an early adopter of Nothing Phone (1)
Great hardware/price ratio The software design is the most pretty I've used
However, the software (Nothing OS) UX is one of the worst I've used (still better than MIUI though)
Every update cause something to break.
The general software don't seem to be optimized at all. How is it than a old pixel phone with fairly worse hardware feels more performant for day-to-day tasks?

  1. Harness the Power of vMotion
VMware vSphere is known for its seamless workload movement, and vMotion is the technology that powers this feature. Give your infrastructure the capacity to move virtual machines (VMs) across hosts in real time without causing any downtime. By using vMotion to manage hardware, balance resource demands, and reduce downtime, you can increase the virtual environment's availability and agility.
3. Leverage High Availability (HA) for Resilience
Unexpected hardware malfunctions might cause operations to halt and data integrity to be jeopardized. By adding High Availability (HA) clusters to your vSphere environment, you may reduce these risks. In the case of a host loss, HA minimizes downtime and maintains service continuity by automatically restarting virtual machines (VMs) on surviving hosts. Adjust admission control guidelines to guarantee the best use of available resources while keeping the area HA-ready.
4. Optimize Storage with vSphere Storage DRS
Since data needs are always rising in virtualized systems, effective storage management is essential. The solution is vSphere Storage DRS (Storage Distributed Resource Scheduler), a technology that balances the deployment of virtual machines (VMs) dynamically based on performance and storage capacity. LeverageStorage DRS'scapabilities to reduce hotspots in storage, boost efficiency, and streamline storage provisioning and administration.
5. Enhance Security with vSphere Encryption
IT workers place a high premium on protecting sensitive data, and vSphere Encryption offers a reliable method of protecting virtual machines and virtual disks. vSphere Encryption reduces the possibility of data breaches and unauthorized access by encrypting data while it is at rest, guaranteeing adherence to strict security guidelines and laws. Encrypt your data easily and with no impact on speed to protect your virtual infrastructure from attacks.
6. Streamline Deployment with Auto Deploy
Processes for manual deployment can be error-prone and time-consuming. IT workers may increase infrastructure scalability and agility by automating the deployment and provisioning of vSphere hosts using Auto Deploy. Using stateless caching and centralizing host settings, Auto Deploy streamlines management while guaranteeing uniformity and compliance throughout your vSphere environment.
7. Harness the Power of vSphere Update Manager
Maintaining the most recent patches and upgrades for your vSphere system is essential for both security and stability. Patch and upgrade deployment across hosts and virtual machines (VMs) may be automated using vSphere Update Manager, which provides a centralized patch management solution. Use Update Manager to keep your virtual infrastructure safe and compliant, expedite the patching process, and reduce downtime.
8. Ensure Compliance with vSphere Host Profiles
Maintaining consistency and adherence to organizational standards is essential for effective IT governance. vSphere Host Profiles enable IT administrators to capture and enforce host configurations across the entire vSphere environment, ensuring compliance with predefined policies and configurations. Simplify host deployment, configuration, and compliance management while minimizing manual errors and deviations.
9. Monitor Performance with vRealize Operations
Resolving problems before they affect operations requires proactive performance monitoring. With its extensive view into your vSphere infrastructure, vRealize Operations offers practical insights and suggestions to maximize resource usage and performance. Utilize machine learning and sophisticated analytics to foresee and alleviate performance bottlenecks, enabling you to provide outstanding service levels.
10. Scale Seamlessly with vSphere Scalability Features

2024.05.15 17:49 Banana_Phone4444 Landlord keeps coming over

We hardly ever see this guy except for when he comes over once or twice a week to mow. For the past 2 weeks he’s been having to come inside to do something. First he wanted to an inspection of all the sinks and the replace the AC with a new one. And then he had to come back to repair a sink that was never broken or leaking in the first place? I don’t know really know what he was doing but I just let him. Now a week later he’s going to mow today, but wants to come in and “borrow some electricity” to repair a sidewalk out front. We have lived here for 3 years this is the most action we’ve ever got from him. Fixing up to sell? Fixing up to kick us out and get a new tenant? Has a crush on me and is spying on us?

2024.05.15 17:49 4bhii These are my current chalanges can someone tell how to solve this?

Mostly I'm selling electronic items 10 out of 8 items gets returned or refund Items like Chinese toys, watch, lighter, earphones etc
Competitors are able to list the same product that i outsourced in less because of that i also have to list on low margin, which is just not feasible unless I'm getting 1k-2k orders a day (currently i get 2-3 order a week that too not consistent)
Everyone says create and product do something to stand out and I just can't seem to figure out what can I do to stand out
Everyone including me copy the images from Alibaba and list it, and I don't know how to stand out
Everyone says list your product 3x of your purchase but I see the same product listed on 1.5x on Amazon by my competitors.
