2024.05.14 03:16 Skyis4Landfill Just finished Everett True and Danny Goldberg’s Nirvana books, my thoughts:

Both enjoyable. I think Everett’s was more entertaining and personable seeing he spent a lot of time with Kurt even during the bad times. Downside was he has a big ego and spent a lot of times talking about himself, talking about Courtney too much, and rightfully discussing other bands of the time, but sometimes it got distracting. His writing style is a bit hard to follow at times but overall entertaining.
Goldberg’s book was a lot more tame and more at a distance but obviously more about Kurt than the band. Talked more about the business side of things and gave more modern insight to Kurt’s actual intentions and intellectual planning of his music career. But after having just read Everett’s bio I felt like I already knew about a lot of what was discussed.
I also own “Come As You Are” which I did enjoy years ago but I remember it being a bit more tame than Everett’s (though like I said he’s got a big ego and I’m sure hyped some things up). However in a recent article I read by Michael Azzerad its stated that “Come As You Are” was personally read and approved by Kurt, at least the first draft.
I thought they were all interesting, but I think I liked Everett’s the best, despite his ego at times. I think I’d like to read Come As You Are again. I think I may have read Heavier Than Heaven as a teenager but I don’t remember it and at this point don’t care to read it as I understand he’s full of shit.

2024.05.13 13:53 Truco_Services What is the link between civil and criminal liability in terms of non-compliance with business law?

The link between civil and criminal liability in terms of non-compliance with business law stems from the different legal consequences that can arise from violating laws and regulations governing business activities.
  1. Civil Liability: Civil liability typically involves disputes between private parties, such as individuals, businesses, or organizations. When a business fails to comply with business laws or regulations, it may face civil lawsuits filed by affected parties, such as customers, employees, competitors, or regulatory agencies. Civil liability cases aim to compensate the injured party for damages suffered as a result of the business's non-compliance. These damages may include financial losses, property damage, personal injury, or breach of contract. Civil remedies often involve monetary compensation (damages) awarded to the plaintiff or injunctive relief (court orders to cease or rectify certain actions).
  2. Criminal Liability: Criminal liability, on the other hand, involves violations of laws that are considered offenses against the state or society as a whole. When a business engages in serious violations of business laws or regulations, such as fraud, embezzlement, bribery, environmental violations, or occupational health and safety breaches, it may face criminal charges brought by government prosecutors or law enforcement agencies. Criminal liability cases aim to punish the offender for their wrongdoing and deter others from engaging in similar illegal conduct. Penalties for criminal offenses may include fines, probation, restitution, or imprisonment for individuals found guilty.
The link between civil and criminal liability in non-compliance with business law lies in the potential overlap between civil and criminal violations. In some cases, the same conduct may give rise to both civil lawsuits and criminal charges. For example, a business accused of securities fraud may face civil lawsuits from defrauded investors seeking financial compensation (civil liability), as well as criminal prosecution by government authorities for violating securities laws (criminal liability).
Furthermore, compliance with Business Lawyer Washington Terrace Utah and regulations is essential for minimizing the risk of both civil and criminal liability. Businesses that fail to comply with legal requirements may face legal consequences, regardless of whether the violations are pursued through civil lawsuits or criminal prosecution. Therefore, businesses must prioritize legal compliance to mitigate the risk of liability and maintain ethical business practices.

2024.05.13 13:30 Truco_Services How can deforestation be an ecological problem to plants?

Deforestation can have significant ecological consequences for plants:
  1. Loss of Habitat: Deforestation results in the destruction of plant habitats, leading to the displacement or extinction of numerous plant species. Many plants are adapted to specific environmental conditions and cannot survive outside their native habitats.
  2. Decreased Biodiversity: Forests are incredibly diverse ecosystems, housing a wide array of plant species. When forests are cleared, this biodiversity is diminished, which can have cascading effects on plant populations and ecosystems as a whole.
  3. Disruption of Ecosystem Services: Plants play crucial roles in providing ecosystem services such as oxygen production, carbon sequestration, soil stabilization, and water regulation. Deforestation disrupts these services, affecting not only plants but also other organisms dependent on them.
  4. Soil Degradation: Trees and other vegetation help prevent soil erosion by holding soil in place with their roots. When forests are cleared, soil erosion can accelerate, leading to nutrient loss and reduced fertility, which negatively impacts plant growth.
  5. Climate Change: Deforestation contributes to climate change by releasing stored carbon into the atmosphere and reducing the capacity of ecosystems to sequester carbon. This can lead to alterations in climate patterns, which may further impact plant distribution and survival.
  6. Loss of Medicinal Resources: Many plant species found in forests have medicinal properties and are used in traditional medicine. Deforestation can lead to the loss of potential sources of new medicines and treatments.
In summary, deforestation poses a severe threat to plant life by destroying habitats, reducing biodiversity, disrupting ecosystem services, degrading soil, contributing to climate change, and impacting medicinal resources.

2024.05.12 17:56 Aginagala WWF Royal Rumble 1997 Review

Welcome back to my running series of WWF PPV Reviews from a ‘blind’ perspective (I have no idea what’s going to happen; the results, the feuds or how good any of the matches will be). I have always heard stories of the attitude era and golden age but never watched it myself so I set myself to watching every single PPV event chronologically. I am also watching Wrestling Bios ‘reliving the war’ series to keep me updated inbetween the events with the feuds, and to get excited about upcoming matches.
Before I review the matches, based on the past few episodes of raw and last PPVs I’ll let you know, going into the event, which match I’m most excited for and which feud I’m most excited to see.
The match I’m most excited to see has to be the royal rumble itself. It’s always a big deal and more times than not is very entertaining, and with the big talents that are in the business at the moment it should make for a banger of a match.
The feud I’m most excited to see play out is definitely Sycho Sid vs Shawn Michaels. Shawn has just been becoming more and more unhinged and aggressive with Sid really coming into his character more than ever, I’m excited to see the aggressive style I’m assuming they’re both going to go for as this feud has been majorly hyped and built up.
WWF Royal Rumble 1997 Match Ratings
Goldust vs HHH 1.75/5
Farooq vs Ahmed Johnson 2.25/5
Vader vs Undertaker 1.75/5
Six-man tag team match 1/5
Royal Rumble match 3.25/5
Shawn Michaels vs Sycho Sid 2.75/5
I had a real problem with the crowd being so dead during HHHs match it made it far less enjoyable the crowd just seemed to get no enjoyment from it at all. I actually thought it was a decent match, going to the outside and using the steel steps quite a lot (although HHH looked like he tripped and hit himself on it which was funny), it wasn’t an amazing match but it was physical there were some moments with marlena which was entertaining and HHH ends up retaining. It was decently physical but just terms of what I know HHH is capable of it just didn’t really come off well.
Nice to see Ahmed back and the crowd is really behind him which is great! Elevates the match a lot and he’s looking in pretty decent form as well! Ahmed is Pulling out lots of different types of powerbombs and spine busters that all look good. He’s putting on a good show, and it was actually a decent match until the end; it randomly ends as a DQ, which is a bit weird seeing as Ahmed was literally whipping farooq with a belt during the match and didn’t get DQ’d, and right as Ahmed is starting to get into the match the nation of domination decides to invade the ring, even though they don’t get a hit off on him the ref calls for officials to ring the bell. It was entertaining seeing him lay waste to absolutely everybody, and he executed a really impressive power bomb twisty type move (very technical name I know) that looked really good on one of the nation of dominations goons. Seems like Vince wants to get him SUPER over during this match. It would’ve been nice seeing him working with a better competitor though. But it was a short and sweet brawl type match that did what it needed to do.
FINALLY UNDERTAKER GOT SOME ON PAUL BEARER! God it’s so satisfying, although he didn’t get much, he got SOME. Undertakers entrance has always been a stand out moment in every show and it continues to impress, I could watch these all day. I think Vader and him had a poor match, it was very carried by undertaker, I’m not sure if Vader was just not feeling confident due to his treatment after his HBK match but his selling of a lot of well executed moves by taker was not good at all, I’d even go as far as to say it was lazy. It’s not good if the highlight of the match is Paul bearer coming out, but it really was the best part; the actual wrestling between Vader and taker was average. Good Vader bomb at the end of the match, but something about this match just felt off. It’s a shame undertaker wasn’t able to show what he’s got at all in this match.
Ohhhh boy a 6 man tag team match with 6 wrestlers I’ve never seen and never even heard of. I understand they had a pretty thin roster of big stars at this point, so almost everyone was booked for the royal rumble, but Jesus you might as well have just skipped this match. There is some decent athleticism shown during this match but wow I have never heard such a silent crowd, it was SO SILENT it was actually impressive how quiet it was. I imagine this was the noise of the crowd when Sammartino lost to Koloff after his 8 years with the world title. I don’t even think these wrestlers understood what WWF was, I’m assuming they flew them in as some filler. But, highlight of the match is how unbelievably quiet the crowd is 😂😭💀. THEY DISNT EVEN HAVE AN OFFICIAL WWF REF FOR THIS MATCH! The crowd came alive when the match finished but I don’t think it was cheering the actual match more that it was over.
FINALLY we are at the royal rumble match and Ahmed Johnson is back out again to start, wow that thin roster is really showing. Boos as the fake razor comes out, and they’re having issues with their clock showing when superstars are coming out, but fake razor is instantly eliminated so that’s something. Ahmed eliminates himself? And then… oh god this is such a bad start 😂 the goddamn godwins come out next. At this point I’m begging for any kind of star to get in the ring and get the crowd AND ME going. AND WHAT DO YOU KNOW I GET WHAT I ASK STONE COLD GET IN THERE AND CARRY THIS MATCH!! I don’t know if there’s sound issues but I didn’t hear a pop at all when stone colds entrance played and seeing that people are pretty warmed up to Austin now… not sure just thought that was weird. Stone cold eliminates the Godwin brother and another wrestler I’ve never seen and showboats in the middle of the ring. Thank god I’ll just look at Austin spamming the emote button rather than the start to the match. Here we go two legends as Jake the snake makes his way to the ring. Fast paced action straight off the bat which is beautiful, okay here we go maybe the match will pick up here. We get the bulldog in the ring and yes now we’re getting the experienced wrestlers in here, please don’t eliminate any one of these two (stone cold and bulldog) at least we can count on some level of quality with them. A few more random wrestlers and we’re filling up the ring now. HHH comes out and finally there’s some big talent in the ring, bulldog HHH and Austin. (At this point I stopped the running commentary and just sat back to enjoy the match). BUT THEN!! OWEN HART AND AUSTIN IN THE RING AGAIN THE CROWD IS ALIVE IM HYPED EVERYONES HYPED GO BRRRRRR.
The first half of the rumble was honestly really not good. It had next to no star power and the actual wrestling quality was just straight up bad. The crowd was really not into this match at all… UNTIL! The second half. After all contestants come out we end up with Bret hart, undertaker, mankind, Steve Austin, Rocky, Vader and a few more in the ring. The crowd is finally alive (for a 60,000 attendance crowd it was VERY quiet for a while) and things really get going once Bret hart and Austin are left alone in the ring to carry the match for a few minutes. The ring starts to fill up with the final competitors and we’re left with a decent mix of experience, new talent, big stars and good wrestlers. Multiple feuds are in the ring too making for some good moments (Bret and Austin, taker and mankind). The match ending was really weird with Austin essentially cheating to get himself back in the match after being eliminated (not saying I don’t like the result), but I can see why they did it to still be giving Bret hart the big push but give Austin his big shot at wrestlemania. The match had some VERY low points but Austin did a great job of carrying throughout the entire match. Stand out performers have to be hart and Austin though, aside from HBK they are simply the best talents in the business at the moment (and undertaker of course) but he doesn’t need to be a main eventer right now as he’s his own attraction.
As quick as the crowd loved sid they went against Sid, I was very surprised to hear so many boos when he was making his entrance. The switch up of the crowd to go back to loving HBK was insanely quick, and you can understand why Vince let Michaels get away with so much and constantly push him; the crowd absolutely eat everything he does up. A pretty slow start to the match but Sid is really playing into his strength which is his character, not his wrestling. Beating Shawn with a slow methodical beat down and he seems to just have absolutely no hope against Sid. Sid is just going mental knocking out referees power bombing Michaels in the outside of the ring which looked pretty damn good. The crowd is absolutely loving this match and Michael’s grabs the camera to return the favour for when he lost the title, hits him a couple of times, sweet chin music and the champion is back. A pretty slow main event with a few good moments but honestly I can’t say I’ll miss Sid being champion, he just wasn’t a great main eventer in my eyes (could see Shawn doing a lot of carrying having to physical move Sid the right way round for a few spots), he’d do better bulking up the mid card with his character and fun promos. This was definitely the worst Michaels match I’ve seen up until this point, which is a shame. It wasn’t really his fault but the match just wasn’t great.
Overall this event was a pretty low point compared to recent events for me. A very boring mid/opener card with 0 standout matches. Honestly I don’t think you’d be missing much if you never watched this event. My favourite part of the night was Austin being in the rumble for so long which I think was a very good choice, and he did a great job. But yeah, the crowd just wasn’t into much of the event at all, and neither was I. That stone cold reaction to Bret harts entrance is iconic though.
Overall rating 2.5/5

2024.05.12 13:41 AnotherBlueRoseCase The Demon Inside David Lynch: TV Drama's Worst Fiasco

https://auraist.substack.com/p/the-demon-inside-david-lynch-tv-dramas-da8
A critical novel inspired by the epic discussions of The Return on dugpa.com's Profoundly Disappointed Thread. It is emphatically not recommended for admirers of TR. Subscriptions are free.
The blurb:
‘On a surface level Twin Peaks: The Return is the world’s worst-ever TV drama, but when you explore it in some depth, see what its showrunner was really up to, that’s when it gets supernaturally bad.’ So argues nightguard and wrestler Andy Uath, who’s had troubles in his time with bitterness, research chemicals, and the hyperdimensional entities he believes shaped the world and, worse, Twin Peaks: The Return.
In the genre-blurring tradition of Maggie Nelson, Geoff Dyer, and Vladimir Nabokov’s Pale Fire, The Demon Inside David Lynch is a critical novel of verve and urgency about fanaticism, generational hatred, rampant cheesiness, and our post-truth state, whoever’s responsible for it.
And the introductory note:
The Demon Inside David Lynch states that the celebrated director was possessed by a ten-dimensional entity that went on to make Twin Peaks: The Return. You won’t be surprised to hear this is fiction, satire. So too are the events in this story involving other public figures such as Michael Gove, Ron Jeremy, Damon Lindelof, Morrissey, Martha P. Nochimson and Slavoj Žižek. But the descriptions of The Return*’s content are not fiction, no matter how much you come to believe or wish otherwise.*
To M. Boulègue and the rest of the Lynch cult, not least Mr Lynch himself: The Demon Inside David Lynch is no more demonic than the series it’s about. You don’t get to air a work that incendiary and have nobody react the way Andy Uath and others do here. The Demonic Twin of Mr Lynch would be disappointed had nobody done so.

2024.05.12 00:30 ladyutopia7 Theory about why they tryna finish Drake

Theory about why they tryna finish Drake
  1. Niggas tired of him being on top. You not from here, lightskin and feminine (nail polish/hair beads/lip puckers/fruity drinks). Fuckin with Ja, Common, Harden, Serena’s Husband, Drama, Jorja Smith, Baby Keem girl, Future girls and who knows else. (Budden 52:25). Yet they still used him all these years.
  2. Strategy: He wasn’t outrapped, he was outlapped. Soon as he dropped Family Matters with the visuals, you can tell the nigga put a lotta energy and time into that. That’s probably why he was baiting him to drop. Not knowing he’d drop an hour after. Kendrick came with a strategy, foreshadowed by Q telling Cole fall back. “Oh yall taking it this way? I thought we was playin.” Joe speaks on this 1:25:00. It’s recency bias.
Plus, hating on Drake gets rewarded with likes and engagement online. 95% of people are followers and copy what others do so if I see Johnny get 40k likes off “Drake the type of guy” comment, shit lemme get mines too.
“But he’s a pedophile” Each girl did speak out in his defense.
“Drakes silent policy” Most companies have them. Similar to having assets in a holding company or LLC instead of your personal credit or name in case you get sued.
But I really think it’s the Universal Theory: Drake owns a piece of each artist at Universal and Gamma.
Lucien & UMG ties Cuz I’m lil ain’t no way everybody coming at you so hard. Ain’t that much hate for no nigga in the world. This really Thanos. So I’m like damn. What he do to make these niggas so mad? Then it hit me — a broken clock is right twice a day.
In that Justin LaBoy interview where he displayed equestrian levels of meat riding, Ye said Drake has a rich baby daddy named Lucian and UMG". Even in the Like That (Remix) he said again "Where's Lucian? Serve your master, nigga. You caught a little bag for your masters, didn't ya. Lifetime deal, I feel bad for niggas." And he was obviously left off the album and leaked it himself. But he seemed to eager from jump.
Lucian Grainge is the CEO of Universal Music Group (UMG) and the most influential person in the music industry. Some artists in this beef signed to him like Drake (Republic Records), Metro Boomin (Republic Records), The Weeknd (Republic Records), Kendrick Lamar, Taylor Swift, Billie Eilish, Justin Bieber, Ariana Grande, and Bad Bunny. UMG dropped Kanye in 2021 after his antisemitic remarks.
So what this beef gotta do with Lucian? Might be cause favors Drake. One time, he got asked about Drake's budget and said, "If ever Drake or whenever Drake calls up and says he needs something for his project, I give it to him. He's the greatest." Drake mentioned Lucian and Universal in some songs:
  • "Shit done changed, billionaire talk to me different when they see my paystub from Lucian Grainge" (Having Our Way, Culture 3)
  • Only signin' the gang, we the new Lucian Grainge" (Pussy & Millions, Her Loss)
  • "Who the CEO of Universal? They mistaken. Cause Google sayin' Lucian , but that just doesn't make sense. Who fillin' up the piggy bank? Who bringin' home the bacon?" (Away from Home)
  • “Major distribution, labels call me. Bad Bunny numbers, it's a robbery. Five hundred millions, just for Aubrey" (Major Distribution, Her Loss).
See how that could rub niggas the wrong way? Imagine working a job and your boss says in front of the next staff meeting “He’s my favorite.” Everybody gone hate that nigga and he’s probably gone feel a lil too bigheaded/isolated when dealing with peers. Vice had a luxury hotel manager speak on how they would divide and conquer the cleaning staff by race to better performance. They’d say to the black team “The Mexicans are killing yall today, better catch up!”, saying it was intentional among management to prevent them from banding together. Not only at that hotel but it’s a known strategy in the hotel and other industries. Seem like the same shit, given everyone in this beef are coworkers at Universal.
Now, in late 2021 Drake’s contract was up and that was bad for Universal and the industry. Cuz it’s stick up time.
  • “Drake is about to get the biggest bag in the history of the music business by far,” said Stoute, chief executive of United Masters
  • Russ, who said: “You think that if Drake right now, completely independent … if Drake posts a picture on the ‘Gram of his new album, link in bio — fuck a link in bio, “new album out” — and he was fully independent, Drake will make $10 million a week for fucking 60 weeks.” Added Stoute: “If Drake goes independent, the music business is over.”
  • Says one top music attorney: “Drake has the bargaining power to negotiate a net profit split with the best deal terms and a humongous advance up front.”
The last quote is crucial. Drake and everyone knew it was in the industry’s best interest financially to give him whatever he wants but the thing is — Drake costs a lot. What incentive do you give the biggest artist in an industry where A) labels aren’t really wanted or needed and B) like LeBron, paying what he’s really worth will bankrupt the already downsizing industry? Well, you give him equity. Money on the back end. But from where? Other artists and labels. Keep in mind this was around the time he resigned for the $400m.
  • Under me, I see all the people that claim they over me and above me, I see nobody I'd have to be dead for them to say you took it from me. The 20 percent I own of you that we own is in my tootsie's money." (Champagne Poetry, Certified Lover boy)
  • Please don't google my net worth, the numbers are way off. I mean, if you comparin' it to what I really made off with I'm more like Bernie with all the earings that they came off. Trust me it was nothin' light, holmes **they tried to give me slice of the pie and I took the knife home." (Remorse, Certified Lover Boy)
  • There’s also a bar on the leaked version of Splash Bros that Drake sent the C&D for. “Lucian and me are like Kobe & Shaquille - that’s the reason going independent never had an appeal” (Maybe he sent that cease and desist because he was talking too much and people would catch on. But like the Streisand Effect says, trying to hide something usually makes it bigger).
Larry, Apple & Gamma On Family Feud, Drake raps “somebody get Larry Jackson on the phone, I need some ownership if we pressin go” and Larry was vacationing in the Maldives not doing much career wise and said that was a wake up call and had him asking is there another level to this video game?”
Now, Larry Jackson worked at Apple and was key in signing deals for Apple Music when it launched, mainly Drake and OVO Sound Radio. It was a good deal for both; Drake gave Apple Music exclusives to compete with Jay-Z and friends at Tidal (before they all realized this was dumb af and put their music on every platform) while Apple gave money, visibility and placements. Larry maintained the position at Apple until 2023 when he founded “gamma.” with the previous Interscope (UMG) CFO Ike Youssef.
Yousseff said gamma was an idea from their Interscope days. Larry said he wanted to create something “that will see him acquiring or joining forces with major artists and brands, with endeavors in music, films, merchandise, fashion, web3, and other areas,” Variety reported. But it's not really a label, more like a private equity company who buy shares of artists' publishing. Private equity usually buys companies that are new, or underperforming and find ways to revamp it. It raised a billion dollars with partners like Clive Davis, Apple and majority investor Todd Boehly (remember Todd). Gamma also acquired a distribution platform, Vydia who owns Shade Room, and distribution rights for artists like Usher, Rick Ross. Under gamma is Sexyy Red, 4batz. Which makes sense why he always promoting them. Because why promote Ross and Meek’s album but not Chainz and Wayne’s album?
But the partner Eldridge Industries is the key. Todd Boehly is a very wealthy powerful business owner that has dozens of companies in every sector under his holding company Eldridge Industries. Boehly is the largest investor in gamma followed by A24 and Apple. Eldridge Industries also owns all of the following in music, media, entertainment and sports: eldridge.com/businesses
  • gamma.
  • Billboard/Billboard Music Awards
  • PMC, Billboard’s parent company
  • Rolling Stone
  • Deadline
  • Variety
  • A24
  • SXSW
  • The Shade Room
  • Deadline
  • Daily Hits Double
  • Luminate
  • Dick Clark Productions
  • The Hollywood Reporter
  • VIBE
  • Life is Beautiful
  • Golden Globes
  • Latin Music Awards
  • American Music Awards
  • Streamy Awards
  • ViralNation
  • Los Angeles Dodgers
  • Chelsea FC
You ever wonder why Drake said fuck the Grammys but still showed up every year to Billboard Music Awards? And how A24 got to executive produce Drake’s Euphoria? Remember when Drake “rented” Dodger stadium? And his love for soccer? LeBron too? Same Chelsea team. And notice Drake start hanging around content creators more the same time Boehly invested in Viral Nation? A social media management and brand partnership company based in Toronto. Now see how that meeting happened to call for a truce and articles claiming Kendrick won that feel a lil premature? Look at the sites.
Now It’s funny how the line “Kendrick just opened his mouth. Somebody hand him a Grammy right now.” is true. 6 BBA, 17 Grammys. Drake? 39 BBA, 5 Grammys. Unlike like the Grammys, where a group of artists, producers, songwriters, and engineers vote, the Billboard Music Awards winners are based on album and digital songs sales, streaming, radio airplay, touring, and social engagement. And they use the same data where Drake’s friend owns a part of. Luminate formerly Nielsen, reports music sales after merging with the Rolling Stone charts, now running how charts and data is counted. If Kendrick can buy bots for engagement in this beef to skew public opinion, who’s to say Drake ain’t been doing for a minute? Reminds me of what Russ said on Schulz’s Flagrant about how streaming farms work. Maybe Kendrick was right too when he said “It ain’t just me I’m what the culture feeling. The fact Drake’s peers ain’t voting for him or coming to his defense right now says something.
Now lines like “If your pub was up for sale, I’d buy the whole thing.” make more sense and Kendrick painting him as Mike and himself as Prince given how Michael Jackson bought half of Sony’s catalogue to spite them (and Eminem’s when he dissed him) versus how Prince hated the labels and was set on owning masters, how Kendrick has pGLang. It’s funny because Sony would end up going against Mike, sabotaging his releases, similar to how fans think Universal’s and streaming services are doing to Drake now. Especially if you’re collecting publishing money in a silent recession that the label and other artists could be using, not so far-fetched to think backdoor meetings start happening. Or when you collect hip-hop memorabilia that belongs in the African-American Smithsonian.
Even down to the servicing and Push Ups being mysteriously taken from streaming. It felt like that Not Like Us was proper and mad quick release. Heard it playing on TNT in the playoffs hours later. Then you get the odd dislike ratio…And videos of actual Kendrick bots on Twitter. Listen to Joe’s takes. (1:39:25)
So with all that, you can see how it’s bigger than Drake and Kendrick. Kendrick represents every artist, executive and person who ever felt slighted by or just tired of Drake’s reign. Drake likely has a quiet deal or a cut of gamma thru his relationship and heavily back by Larry Jackson, Lucien and Todd. Some think this is why Todd made Rolling Stone write Kendrick won. Drake 'middle manned’ relationships between corporations and artists, for execs who ain’t have pull with rappers but now, his peers found out Drake been eating off them and ain’t even tryna share the splits.
If that’s true, I can see how they could want this nigga outta here. The casuals gotta chill though. That dick ridin shit corny. Until any legal shit happens, it’s wraps. People always hated Drake but never had the heart to say it until everyone else did. Thats hoe shit to me.
The beef is great for hip hop. It’s similar to Pac and Big, even down to coasts but moreso Nas and Hov how it’s just rap and ain’t gone spill into the streets. Almost like Mase responding to Cam after he kept poking him in the head. Everyone wants to hear from the quiet nigga whether it’s school, work, whatever. And I’m sure Drake’s house getting messed with is XO’s retaliation work or fans looking for likes. But the more time passes, the more truths gone come out. I’m interested to see what music looks like after this. How stingy Drake get with features, who aligns with who. If he replies or if he goes ghost for a minute. Lord Knows.

2024.05.11 20:51 Aginagala WWF In Your House - ITS TIME 1996 Review

The Match I’m most excited to see has to be Bret Hart vs Sycho Sid, and the same goes for the feud. I can’t see anything on the card coming even close to be honest
WWF In Your House - ITS TIME 1996 Match Ratings
Leif Cassidy vs Flash Funk 3/5
Fake Diesel & Razor vs Bulldog & Owen Hart 1.5/5
Marc Mero vs HHH 3.25/5
Executioner vs Undertaker 3/5
Bret Hart vs Sycho Sid 3.5/5
I actually think the opening match was the best opener on any event I’ve watched so far. Funk was really showing off his amazing athleticism at times considering he’s a pretty big guy. While the match was slow sometimes the aerial skills shown by funk more than made up for it. A few missed spots but an overall great opener.
The exciting part of the tag match was Austin walking to the ring… not much else to say really. I have no idea why he actually came out seeing that I thought he was supposed to be feuding with Bret Hart but it’s always good to see him and hear a crowd pop. The match itself was slow paced and just not really that exciting, Owen hits a spinning heel kick at the end which was impressive and that’s about it. Shame Lafon wasn’t there, been really enjoying seeing him elevate the tag matches.
Next match I was really enjoying, great action, Marc Mero proving once again why he’s one to watch and HHH raising his game with every match was great to watch. That was until the really bad finish, Marc Mero wins from a count out, and HHH keeps the title. Obviously they wanted the title to remain on HHH while Mero still got one over on Hunter but the end just didn’t really gel well. But it’s still a great rivalry and I feel like this is building to a really good match to finish their feud somewhere down the line.
Then we had the undertaker vs executioner and I honestly had no clue how to rate this match, it was all over the place so I called it down the middle because I did actually enjoy it, it was just the weirdest, most hectic match I’ve ever seen. It starts really slow with executioner just not working well in the ring, so as the fight goes to the outside of the ring foley comes in to save the day and help executioner and as he runs to the ring to take out takers legs… he trips over and hurts himself 😂💀. It had me laughing my ass off when it just cut to the executioner just rolling down a concrete bank into the lake, we didn’t even get to see what happened he was just rolling 😂💀😭. It was really goofy and I wouldn’t say it’s worth watching, but at least HOPEFULLY undertaker won’t get interrupted by executioner anymore. I’m really glad it turned into a crazy brawl between mankind executioner and taker, with undertaker throwing making through the in your house set, throwing mankind through a door, trying to tear the entire set down himself, just total mayhem. It’s not a good wrestling match but it’s super entertaining.
In the main event you can really start to feel the carry needed to make sid look good in a match; either he was tired and needing a lot of breaks or he just didn’t know what to do. There was a lot of times Sid was just standing around while in control which was really slowing the match down, this majorly hurt the quality of the match. Honestly I was looking forward to a Sid title rain, and whilst he’s having decent matches it’s entirely on the part of the people he’s sharing the ring with. I don’t know if it was scripted with Shawn Michaels swearing at people in the crowd being visibly very angry after the assault from Bret hart and Sid but it was really funny to watch. This all being said I much preferred the Bret Hart and Austin match last PPV, I couldn’t help but compare the two matches during the event. The match ended with Michaels unintentionally helping Sid and to be honest I was definitely hoping for a Bret hart win. This was nowhere near Bret hart or even Sid at their best.
Overall the event was decent for what it was, it feels like it was just setting up more feuds and events. It was messy and definitely can’t compare to survivor series 1996 so it was definitely a step down. The big problem I had with this event is it felt like if I didn’t watch it I wasn’t missing out on anything, everyone was in the same position as they were when it started. Tag team matches are back to suffering heavily in the mid card, but a nice opener, an okay mid card and a decent main event made for a more well rounded event than previous, but no stand out matches this time around.
Overall rating 2.75/5

2024.05.11 20:31 getthatrich The “experts” were all wrong.

Can we please just luxuriate in the fact that all the “diet advice” we’ve been sold since pre-puberty was wrong? It’s never been about willpower. Yes it is basically CICO, but the body fights that so powerfully. So many of us have been made to feel deficient, broken, and like failures because we just couldn’t “figure out” how to lose and keep off the weight. And here we are taking medication and it’s falling off us, opening our brain space for new ideas, and we’re feeling fantastic (when not adjusting to side effects but I’ll take these any day over living in a fat body in our society).
So many of us turned to acceptance of our bodies and focused on health at every size because that was the last option available that didn’t make us hate ourselves. It was hard for me to leave that mindset. I posted in response to someone else that I feel guilt about being happier in a smaller body. I’ll adjust.
For right now though, I just want everyone who thought they had it right, who thought they were just more disciplined than everyone else (the Jillian Michaels, the Susan Powers, the Dr. Ozs and the like). They can all just eff right off. I’m having a grand time.
Thanks, science!

Genetics is the branch of science that seeks to understand the intricate mechanisms of heredity and variation. It is a field that has revolutionized our understanding of the world and has led to numerous breakthroughs in fields such as medicine, biotechnology, and evolutionary biology. In this blog, we will delve into the fascinating world of genetics, exploring Mendelian inheritance, genetic variation and evolution, gene mapping, and cloning.
Mendelian Inheritance
Mendelian inheritance is the study of how traits are passed down from parents to offspring. Gregor Mendel, the father of genetics, discovered the fundamental laws of inheritance, including the law of segregation and the law of independent assortment. These laws describe how genes are inherited and how they interact to produce the characteristics of an organism.Mendelian inheritance is based on the following principles:
Genetic Variation and Evolution
Genetic variation is the raw material for evolution. It is the differences in the genetic information between individuals and populations that allow for adaptation and evolution. Genetic variation can arise through mutations, genetic drift, gene flow, and recombination.Evolution is the change in the frequency of alleles in a population over time. It is driven by natural selection, genetic drift, mutation, and gene flow. Evolution can result in the adaptation of populations to their environment, the formation of new species, and the extinction of others.
Gene Mapping and Cloning
Gene mapping is the process of identifying the location of genes on chromosomes. It is a crucial step in understanding the function of genes and their role in inheritance. Gene mapping can be done using various techniques, including linkage analysis and fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH).Gene cloning is the process of creating multiple copies of a gene or DNA sequence. It is a powerful tool for studying gene function, genetic engineering, and biotechnology. Gene cloning can be done using various techniques, including molecular cloning and polymerase chain reaction (PCR).

Molecular biology is the branch of science that seeks to understand the intricate mechanisms of life at the molecular level. It is a field that has revolutionized our understanding of the world and has led to numerous breakthroughs in fields such as medicine, genetics, and biotechnology. In this blog, we will delve into the fascinating world of molecular biology, exploring the structure and function of DNA, gene expression and regulation, and protein synthesis and function.
DNA Structure and Function
DNA (Deoxyribonucleic acid) is the molecule that contains the genetic instructions for the development and function of all living organisms. It is a long, double-stranded helix made up of nucleotides, which are the building blocks of DNA. Each nucleotide is composed of a sugar molecule, a phosphate group, and one of four nitrogenous bases: adenine (A), guanine (G), cytosine (C), and thymine (T). The sequence of these nitrogenous bases determines the genetic information encoded in the DNA.The structure of DNA is crucial to its function. The double-stranded helix is stabilized by hydrogen bonds between the nitrogenous bases, with A pairing with T and G pairing with C. This complementary base pairing allows for the replication of DNA and the transmission of genetic information from one generation to the next.
Gene Expression and Regulation
Gene expression is the process by which the information encoded in DNA is converted into a functional product, such as a protein. This process involves the transcription of DNA into RNA (ribonucleic acid), followed by the translation of RNA into protein.Gene regulation is the process by which cells control the expression of genes in response to environmental stimuli, developmental signals, or cellular differentiation. This regulation can occur at multiple levels, including transcriptional regulation, post-transcriptional regulation, and epigenetic regulation.Transcriptional regulation involves the binding of proteins called transcription factors to specific DNA sequences, which either stimulate or inhibit the transcription of nearby genes. Post-transcriptional regulation involves the control of RNA processing, transport, and translation. Epigenetic regulation involves the modification of DNA or histone proteins, which can affect gene expression without altering the underlying DNA sequence.
Protein Synthesis and Function
Proteins are the workhorses of the cell, performing a wide range of functions, including catalyzing metabolic reactions, replicating DNA, responding to stimuli, and transporting molecules across cell membranes. Protein synthesis, also known as translation, is the process by which the genetic information encoded in RNA is converted into a protein. This process occurs in the cytoplasm, where ribosomes read the sequence of RNA nucleotides and assemble the corresponding amino acids into a polypeptide chain. Proteins can be modified after synthesis through various mechanisms, such as proteolysis, phosphorylation, and ubiquitination. These modifications can affect protein function, localization, and stability.
Molecular biology is a fascinating field that has revolutionized our understanding of the world. 2024.05.10 20:50 QuillAndTrowel [MF] Abide In Me

The man woke with a headache and saw blood in the soil. He knew it was blood because he could smell it—the metallic, bitter tinge didn’t register in his nostrils, but on his tongue. He didn’t know it, but he also knew it was blood because he could taste it. He was coughing now, and the blood from his lungs was mingling with the blood running out of his forehead and onto his lips.
He sat up. He looked around. An ambulance was pulled on to the shoulder of the highway. Lights flashing. Nobody else in sight.
How long have I been here? Where is the medic? Where is my bike?
The petite woman squatted down in front of him. She had a light blue caduceus on her dark blue sleeve, and a first aid kit. “Have you been drinking?”
“What?”
“How much have you had to drink?”
He squinted at her.
Have I been drinking? Where am I right now? What is going on?
She flashed a light in his eyes, staring into his pupils. Then she set the flashlight down and began applying gauze to his head.
“Where are you going to?”
“I don’t know.”
“Are these cans yours?”
He looked down into the ditch he had awakened in and saw half a dozen or so beer cans, crushed, some rusted, covered in grass and mud.
“Have you been drinking?”
“Very funny.”
She put a splint on his right arm and asked if he could walk. No, no, I don’t even know who I am, he told her. She turned her pretty face into the microphone clipped to her shoulder and said, “White, male, six-foot—You are about six feet tall right?”
When she turned her head to her shoulder he saw her blond ponytail and white pearl earring.
She’s perfect.
A little gold chain with a pendant on it had fallen out of her shirt and dangeld in front of his eyes. It twisted back and forth until it settled down and he saw the picture of the winged man carrying a sword, and the words “St. Michael” on it.
“Are you an angel?”
She laughed, then continued, “—six foot tall, blue eyes.” She smiled at him. “You’re going to be ok. I’m going to take care of you. You’re mine now. Everything will be alright.”
Am I still single? Angel of angels, what have I done to deserve this?
She cradled his head in her hands and for a few minutes they sat there together on the edge of the trees. As his head rested against her shoulder, her arm wrapped around his crown, holding the bandages in place, he could hear the words to the song she was singing quietly to herself:
“Abide with me; fast falls the eventide; The darkness deepens; Lord, with me abide; When other helpers fail and comforts flee, Help of the helpless, oh, abide with me.”
A man in a blue uniform, pistol on his hip, and Stetson on his head walked over to the pair, and said “alright, Angel, I’ve got what I need.”
I knew it. God help me, please be single.
She helped him onto the stretcher, her hand lightly clasping his, as they loaded him into to the back of the ambulance. She sat next to him, and told him it will be about 15 minutes to the hospital.
I’ve got to know who she is. How can I do it? I’m not even sure who I am, but I can’t miss this opportunity.
The ambulance hit a bump in the road and all his wounds reared inside of him. He squeezed her hand and she smiled.
“I’ve got to adjust this splint on your arm. Just put your hand right here.” She placed the palm of his left hand on her right knee. “I have to take this off, because your fingers are going to start swelling and it can cut off circulation.” She held his wrist and undid the clasp on his watch, slid it over his hand and placed it on the bench.
“Oh, I almost missed this,” she said, and slipped the gold band off his ring finger. She placed it in her left breast pocket and buttoned it closed. “I’m going to make sure you get this back. Don’t worry, I’m sure your wife won’t let you forget it.” She smiled again, and sang:
“Hold Thou Thy cross before my closing eyes Shine through the gloom and point me to the skies Heaven's morning breaks, and earth's vain shadows flee In life, in death, o Lord, abide with me Abide with me, abide with me.”

2024.05.10 15:19 Aginagala WWF - Survivor Series 1996 Review

The match I’m most excited to see simply has to be Stone Cold vs Bret Hart. I’ve never seen them wrestle but always heard stories of how legendary their rivalry was so I can’t wait to see it play out, the build up has been amazing too.
The Feud I’m most excited to see, for now, is Undertaker vs Mankind. I haven’t actually seen Austin vs hart yet so I will go forward knowing that undertaker and mankind always put on a great show.
WWF - Survivor Series 1996 Match Ratings
Men’s tag team elimination match 2.5/5
Mankind vs Undertaker shark cage match 3.25/5
Team HHH vs Team Mero 3/5
Stone Cold Steve Austin vs Bret Hart 5/5
Team Nation vs Team Flash Punk 1/5
Shawn Michaels vs Sycho Sid 4/5
With almost every tag team match disappointing up to this point I didn’t have any expectations but with newbies lafont & co, I actually enjoyed this match more than other tag team matches I’ve seen so far. High flying action, a change of tag titles, and I really appreciated them eliminating the good wins and… I can’t even remember the other team, as lafont was able to put on a decent show with Owen hart and Bulldog; he was able to allow Owen hart to have a bit more fun than usual in the ring in these previous matches.
Healthy and safety out the window with this one, that cage looked so unstable 😂. Undertaker has one of his iconic entrances decending from the top of the arena, and he is back with much more emphasis on his entertaining wrestling; he really got to showcase how great of a wrestler he is in this match, or begin to show it off anyway. It was a decent match with an okay gimmick but it was entertaining as always with undertaker and mankind. Who the hell is this executioner guy that keeps coming and interfering with Undertaker, HES SO ANNOYING!! Let undertaker get his revenge on Paul bearer otherwise it feels like these stipulations won’t actually mean anything going forward if every time he’s just attacked after the match by someone not even involved in the feud, super unsatisfying.
FINALLY, THE ROCK HAS COME BACK TO NEW YORK! Had no idea it was at this survivor series so I was hyped as hell, I do know that people didn’t warm to his initial gimmick and I can see why to be honest, it’s pretty goofy 😭, but it’s nice to see him in the WWF. We’re really kicking off character wise now, HHH, stone cold, HBK, Bret Hart, The rock, Undertaker has dropped a little of his deadman character for more of an aggressive wrestling in ring ability style, WE ARE MOVING NOW!
The rock providing some great excitement with his wrestling ability, triple H with his aggressive on the ground attitude, and some decent action from everyone all around. Jake the snake actually stepped up here compared to recently as well which was nice to see. This was just a great 8 man tag team match, a lot of veterans and future stars, even if their characters weren’t fully developed yet they still provided a very good match. It’s a shame the crowd wasn’t really into the match, THEY DIDNT KNOW WHAT THEY WERE GETTING!
At this point in my journey I’m really starting to enjoy this a lot. Seeing everyone’s debuts and knowing the futures they have is just SO GOOD! I’m loving this and so excited going forward.
God I could watch stone cold promos all day, the initial promo video the interview it’s all just 10/10 entertainment for me, he just knocks it out the park every time.
Onto Bret vs stone cold and this event just keeps delivering; it’s getting better and better and better. A pure wrestling match showcasing the hell out of these mega stars, back and forth throughout the whole match I had no idea who was going to win. Iconic shots of both of them looking at each other, submissions weren’t too long, multiple slug fests, Austin suplexing from the top rope just great to watch. I have a feeling this is a match that elevates stone cold to his super stardom, if not this match, this feud will. This event has just been choc-a-block full of good wrestling. And to think that this wasn’t even a main event is absolutely insane to me, Austin absolutely lived up to the pressure put on him to perform in the biggest match of his career up until this point and was able to have fantastic chemistry with Bret Hart. The first time someone’s kicked out of the stunner as well (I think) up until this point so I was just on the edge of my seat. Bell to bell entertainment, very fast paced aggressive match, no weird finish no interference just two legends showing what they can do. Couldn’t ask for more.
The next match was a pretty big snooze fest apart from the chair brawl at the end. I’m really not digging this fake razer fake diesel push or whatever it is they’re doing. Only thing I can say is DAMN YOKOZUNA IS A BIG BOI!
We get another Shawn Michaels main event where once again Shawn absolutely kills it in the ring, 1996 just seems like his year. The crowd absolutely love Sid and there’s actually boos when Shawn starts to get a few moves of; whenever Sid was in control the crowd was just lapping it up. Speaking of the crowd they were so into this match which made it all the more entertaining. This is the best I’ve seen Sid yet, him and Michaels just had great chemistry but to be honest I think Shawn can make anyone look good. Sid eventually goes the controversial way beating Michaels with a camera but this sets up a good rematch in my opinion as you’re left wondering who the true pure wrestling victor would be. The stuff with lothario although a bit hokey was well done and pretty believable, as Michael’s almost immediately goes over to him when the match is over.
Overall this ppv was the most well-booked show I’ve seen up to this point (we don’t mention the second to last elimination match). I actually enjoyed a tag match thanks to lafon/Furnas and the Rock having strong debuts, which was a very pleasant surprise (as up to this point every time there’s a tag match I will audibly grunt). Whilst I already knew I’d love the Michaels match the big highlight this event for me was just Austin taking that huge step up to truly compete with the big dogs of the business and put on a good show, going nearly 30 minutes with Bret Hart and it being bell to bell entertainment is a huge task for someone ‘new’ to the business and his character but he nailed it. The roster all around just felt much more well rounded than before, almost every match seemed to have pretty big names in the business and reasons to watch those matches. I also got to see Bret hart wrestle for the first time since I was a kid watching YouTube videos of his old matches so watching it with fresh eyes was a joy. By quite a big margin the best event I’ve watched so far for 1996, and it wasn’t just a one match event either (FINALLY).
Overall rating 4.5/5

2024.05.10 00:24 ftp67 [QCrit] Upmarket Fiction, PROSPERITY, NEBRASKA, 96k words, 3rd attempt

Alright friends, I almost consider this my 2nd attempt because there was a big gap between the first two and the second hardly improved. I basically scrapped everything as I got a ton of info about it just not being catchy enough.
Last Draft: https://www.reddit.com/PubTips/comments/1ch2bzl/qcrit_satirical_fiction_commune_96k_words_2nd/
Two major changes here: I took the advice of magictheblathering and changed the title from 'Commune' to 'Prosperity, Nebraska'. I agree it's punchier, I hope that the city itself is important enough to the story to warrant it.
Second, I changed the genre from Satire to Upmarket. I don't think the story is exaggerated enough to be satire. Humorous, yes, but I think I confused that with direct satire of a specific topic or trope.
DEAR AGENT,
Michael David is a liar. He lies at mandated company happy hours, lies when he adds a ‘Sincerely’ to his emails, and lies when he asks first dates about their hobbies. Truth is a luxury for those who are free of debts and cubicles. For the rest of us, there’s just routine.
Childhood friend Eli is independence incarnate. Self-help guru, social media star, and leader of ‘The Family’, an international collection of wannabe hippies stuck in the bodies of the bored upper class. He’s back from his travels to spread the word.
Michael experiences a hallucinatory revelation at Eli’s Ascension Ceremony that reveals a path to freedom. A return to the earth in the form of a decrepit farm in the desperate town of Prosperity, Nebraska.
The American Dream comes at price. Bank loans, crop quotas, and the personal hopes of the endearing denizens of Prosperity. Michael needs help, and invites the ranks of Eli and The Family to get things running before the threat of winter.
Eli is a much better liar. The farm couldn’t have fallen into Michael's lap without a little planning. And Eli has a dream of his own- an independent commune free of society's laws and expectations, guided by his charisma and a firm hand.
The Harvest Festival is near. A time when the Governor who makes the laws, the banks who own the land, and the press that document their struggles, all converge to smile and point. Eli will make sure they leave with changed minds- or not at all. Unless Michael can reclaim his dream as it's pulled from his hands once again.
Prosperity, Nebraska, is a 96,000 word Satirical Fiction novel rife with dark humor, nestled between the stale halls of corporate America and the small towns that built it.
Bio- credits for my short story and entertainment background.
Notes:
-I think the last sentence is weaker than the previous but I figured I need to bring Michael back into the fold before closing. I'm guessing I need to illustrate their conflict better? I'm hoping the outline does that well enough
-First paragraph, I get he comes off as unlikeable, trying to find a way to hook the agent and display his inner conflict without depicting him as just boring. A disgruntled millennial office worker is less interesting than he is relatable, and it takes a few chapters of struggle to get him energetic as a character. I've struggled with how to initially paint this character throughout these drafts and even did edits in the novel to give him some juice earlier in the story.
Thanks for the continued advice.

2024.05.09 22:54 Own_Capital2183 Amanda Hobbs new interview- has a ton of information about Terry!

Just yesterday found an interview that Amanda Hobbs (Stevie Branch's sister) did on Youtube. This is crazy because I had just made a post yesterday wondering about her and their family. This video is very recent, posted not even a week ago. I will link it at the bottom of the post but I summarized all the important points here. Amanda is 37 years old now and wants to tell her story, she also says she is sober now.
TLDR- Terry never abused her and based on her relationship with her father and observing him behind the scenes for her entire life believes he is NOT guilty of the murders and not the man the media has made him out to be.
