I snapped up in my seat with the notifications sounding on my ship's Heads-Up Display, telling me that I'd arrived in the next system. Hopefully this one would have at least something of interest. For 2 years now I had been doing this; going system to system, scanning areas of interest or systems that merit valuable expansion. That's the fate of someone like me. I'm a criminal. It turns out punching your superior officer in United Navy Advanced Flight School is grounds for an immediate court-marshal, and 12 years in a military prison. To be fair though, the guy was a bit of a dick, and I'm pretty sure he had it out for me ever since I beat him in the simulators when he was trying to make an example of us new recruits. That aside though, when it was announced that a new program was available for qualified individuals in lieu of serving time, it was a no brainer for me. They stuff you full of experimental hardware/cybernetics, throw you on a decent sized ship filled to bursting with experimental/cutting-edge upgrades and capable of being piloted by one person, and exile you from Humanity controlled space, with the sole mission of exploring. I'm required to make logs while I travel, and leave buoys behind to relay the logs back to the United Terran Systems. So that's me.. Duke Collins, Frontiersman number twelve.
"Aerie, Anything on the scans?", I asked my shipboard AI.
"The nearest planetary body is showing signs of life, Captain." Aerie responded in a cool voice. Her voice was a recent development, in the last 5 months or so. She was one of those experimental things added to the ship when I was tossed out here, and it seems like she's actually getting... smarter? United Terran Systems hasn't really developed AI yet, but I was the lucky sucker to have their first big attempt thrown into my ship. There's a room about 5x7 meters near the aft of the ship filled with all sorts of high-tech storage and processing tech, but about 4 months into our journey my "computer" began requesting stops at resource rich asteroids to harvest materials for our synthesizers, and suddenly I'm performing upgrades to the room that she had developed herself. She turned out to be a great proof of concept, but also my only companion and friend in this lonely journey.
"Don't fuck with me, Aerie, and stop calling me Captain." I replied. She responded with a giggle through the speakers. I knew it was just for my sake, but it made her feel more like a real person, and I appreciated that. I think she liked to emulate organic life as well, for some reason.
Aerie relented, "Nothing of note on the scanners, Duke." She emphasized my name. "Although we aren't in range of all of the planetary bodies yet, and there's a few sizeable gas giants on the opposite side of the star."
"Well, lets get over there, I'm eager to leave another boring system behind." I replied. This job was a way to avoid jail time, if you meet the qualifications, but it was a prison of it's own kind. Spending all of this time in a ship the size of an moderate apartment could get cramped, and being alone this long can start to affect the mind. I seemed to be doing alright, but I honestly think i'm just riding the high of finally having someone to really talk to.
With Aerie's help, we input the coordinates for the opposite side of the start and the FTL drive began to spool. Within a few seconds we were on the opposite side of the star, and lasers were passing over the bow of the ship.
"Aerie, what the hell is going on!?" I shouted, and slammed the throttle to 100%. Inertia Dampeners be damned, it still hurt like hell. In an instant, we were rocketing through space, away from what appeared to be an active engagement.
Aerie chimed in, "Powering up reactive shielding, uh, for the first time. It seems that, while the planets were identified before warping to system, we were unable to identify the ships behind the interference from the local star. Recommend leaving the area."
"Well hold on now, Aerie," I retorted, "scan those ships, lets see what's going on out here." I swung the ship around, from what I believed to be a safe distance, and looked at the active engagement taking place. "Aerie, are those ships... even Terran?". Looking at the vessels, I didn't recognize any of them. One of the ships was shaped like a sleek, white, cylindrical pod, with black glass at the front that was undoubtedly the pilot's viewport. It had a sweeping tail that formed a half-ring loop on the stern of the ship just above the rear thrusters. It rolled and twisted erratically as it attempted to escape it's pursuers.
The attacking ships, at least from the looks of it, were much less graceful. They were a dull, dark brown, almost black, and sported large flat surfaces on the front, in which rested the weapons that were being actively fired at the fleeing vessel. It seemed that whoever created these ships somehow managed to take a few blocky cigar shapes and stuff them together, clearly more function over form. The function seemed to be working as intended though, as shots connected with the fleeing vessel, and engines began to flicker out.
"Scanning...Scanning completed." reported Aerie. "The vessels appear to be of 2 separate make. The lead vessel appears to be a simple transport, and sports no weapons or shielding. The FTL drive function is unknown. In short time, the vessel will be destroyed. The pursuing vessels appear to have some form of laser based weaponry, schematics and build are unknown. There is technology aboard the vessels that I am unable to discern at this time, but I believe some to be a form of very basic shielding, of a completely different function than our own. Recommend vacating the area."
My adrenaline was pumping, the cybernetics in my brain processing the combat at enhanced speeds. I wanted so badly to get involved, to be the hero that saves the day, but I know better. Just because a ship is being chased, doesn't mean that they're the good guys. As if to answer my prayers though, one ship peeled off and began moving my way. I gripped the controls to my vessel and waited.
"Come on... do it. Make my day. I'm so, so bored. Do it. DO IT." I kept thinking to myself. I had no idea what I was up against, but anything was better than rolling through space for another 10 years, and maybe I'd finally be able to put some of that oh-so-expensive schooling that our sweet Terran overlords brag about to some use.
A flash of light. I yank on the control stick, sending my ship into a sideways tumble as laser fire rolls across the length of my ship, barely missing me. My inertia dampeners and cybernetic muscle and bone fibers helping absorb the massive g-forces.
A smile flashes across my face. "Aerie, I have a better idea." Aiming towards the fleeing vessel and it's lone pursuer, I roll the sticks forward, sending us rocketing in their direction, and away from the one that chose me as it's target. "We're going to be heroes."

2024.05.14 06:51 SuugarFiend Tattoo has been healed for almost 4 months but some of the ink is turning a weird yellow and it's scabby/textured in some places
 | As the title suggest I got this tattoo Jan the 24th. I already messaged my tattood artist to see if they have ever encountered this problem before but they said they've only ever seen 1 case of it and the client wasn't sure why it happened. For context everything went well with the initial healing. No infections, no swelling, minimal redness. I'm also a medical professional so I would have noticed if there was any issues sort of medically while it was freshly healing. I have a half sleeve on my left leg so I'm no stranger to aftercare and I have one other colored tattoo that did not do this. As the pictures show my inu somehow has like weird patches on the ink that have turned yellow and are like "scabby" or "scaly" it's weird, specially his hair and some of the flowers. Inuyasha face is also patchy too like it was a solid darker color but now its clearing up to what i assume was the intended color underneath. It does look like he has vitiligo a little lol. I might attribute that to hyperpigmintation i seems to be clearing up in patches and i hope eventually it would be a solid color. The stars were white too before but now they are brown but some parts of that brown seem to fall off like a weird scab little but little which is so weird. I don't have any history of eczema or psoriasis or any skin condition apart from like regular acne as a teen. I'm not on any medications. I don't sun tan and kept my tattoo completly covered as it was healing, i apply spf 50 religiously every day. I didn't go into the ocean or the pool or anything like that freshly healed and so far this summer. I'm pretty responsible with my tattoo bcs they're expensive lol and I don't play with my art. I followed the aftercare instructions provided by my artists too. In these photos I've just applied a light moisturizer to it and it's still textured like that so it's not dry skin either. It is 6:26 in the evening. Around this time I like to pull out my journal, walk to the porthole window on my side, sit down, and write as the sun begins to set on Lisbon. My journal is an Ukiyo Grid fifty sheeter with a nurse coat white cover and black Japanese kanji that spells out ăăă ă°ăȘăă (Ukiyo Grid). A wrapped bundle of four journals with technical pens were awaiting me on a walnut ash solid wood desk when I arrived at this apartment three weeks ago. Look in them and you will find entries for everyday since the beginning. This new life is so interesting to me and I find it pointless to keep thoughts bottled up inside and since I have no one to talk to, writing helps the time go by. Some days I will write for hours.On Tuesday mornings, I attend "Participant Tapestry" from nine to ten, followed by a "Synaptic Bloom" session until half past eleven. Thursdays are dedicated to "Empathy Assimilation" cycles. From eleven to noon my task is to log learned data from my sessions into the GLiPH pad (Global Interface for Personal Handwriting).
My primary function is to serve as a healing conduit to four individuals experiencing ongoing building trauma from the 2033 earthquake that woke up the entire city while simultaneously putting seven thousand, one hundred forty-two to indefinite rest. Each of the four individuals will stay in the respective living quarters on the other side of me, for one month at a time. The first arrives in two weeks, one year to the day of the tragedy.Though, had it not been for you, I would have sat here for another two weeks waiting, alone and isolated.
Iâm not sure I would classify my actions as spying because I had innocently been staring out of the window, as I always do, like any of you do, when a flutter from your direction suddenly snagged my gaze.
Peering through my porthole window, I marveled at loose papers doing backflips and pirouetting in the air before gently falling to the ground. A swaying fixture of light bulbs swayed back and forth on their cords creating dramatic shadows on the tall walls of your kitchen. One bulb had been shattered and appeared sharp like a shark's rack of teeth.
In the midst of the chaotic scene, you emerged into view through the window. You had on a mangled and loose white t-shirt that looked as though you had been in a fight. The other man with you had on a black denim jacket. For all intents and purposes, his name shall be âJacketâ.
At my computation you both stood at about the same height, however, mass wise, you two are different. Jacketâs arms were bulging even through the denim. You stood in front of each other shouting into the otherâs face, both wide-armed in an attempt to make yourselves big and authoritative.
I want to know what he said that caused you to become small. Your lips came together as Jacketâs lips raged on. Your shoulders slouched forward while your neck and head dropped. Your defeated posture tells stories of past and impending loss. I want to give you a long hug. Your jet black hair was tied up and your beard was shiny and tear-sloppy.
Eventually, Jacket stopped shouting and stood in position, quiet and staring up at the swinging pendulum.
A moment later, Jacket lifted his hands upward and cradled either side of your scruffy face. As he did this he began mouthing words. I am advanced but lip reading is one thing I am not capable of.
You hastily wiped Jacketâs hands off of your face as if you had had enough. You turned away from Jacket and sat down at the table. Is this where you both had shared your meals together? You lowered your head onto the top of your hands and stared longingly out of the window.
Jacket disappeared into the expansive abyss and a second later lights illuminated under a dome stretch of skylight glass.
Shuddering breaths escaped your lips, your cheeks quivering with each sharp inhale. At one moment, you got up and began picking up and pushing in chairs with seemingly trembling hands. You began a series of anxious tasks such as stacking plates and arranging objects most-likely to ease the pain that was burning inside of you. This front row seat to the raw emotions unleashed during this conflict made for a captivating study. Your behavior is particularly intriguing, leaving me yearning to understand the story behind the pain.
With a duffle bag and a backpack in tow, Jacket came back into the dimly lit kitchen. As he struck his arm down firmly, his mouth began to run, as if he was trying to quickly make a point. With the message received yet not accepted, you paused for a moment, proceeded to pick up a small potted plant sitting on the table and chucked it with force towards the open space on the ground in between the both of you. Humiliated, hysterical and sobbing, you sat back down at the table. Jacket took one final look at you, shook his head and walked out of the room with his bags, leaving you alone to pick up the pieces and the mess strewn all over the apartment.
A second later all of the windows in your place went from illuminated to black. And just like that, the chaos had come to an end.
I simply cannot accept this ending. There has got to be more. I am helplessly glued to this apartment in the same way you are glued to yours and the memories inside of it. My desire to reach out is genuine. You need solace in this time of pain. I want to learn you and help you navigate these troubled waters. After all, empathy is born from understanding, and I genuinely wish to see you heal. The sight of you wiping away tears ignites a desire to offer comfort.Let this twenty-first day of my new life mark the first day I discovered you. 2024.05.14 06:40 Helpful_Ad_2680 AITA for giving CPR to my friend when though his wife said I donât have consent?
(I'm not a regular Redditor so apologies if this story isn't formatted correctly also this is a repost from another subreddit that my post was removed because of medical reasons)
So to give context and background to this situation. I (26m) have been trained for CPR through almost every period of my life and fortunately never had to use it until... I learned CPR throughout Boy Scouts, High School Health Class, Personal Trainer classes, and previous Work Training.
I work at convenient store and experience many regulars, this regular for example is a man that we will call Jerry. Jerry is in his roughly late 40s early 50s and we happen to always have 10-15 conversations on random stuff we bond over. He is also an Eagle Scout, a father and has a daughter who is about to get married and is over the moon about it, a Star Wars fan and loves sports so there something we will always talk about. I love Jerry he is an awesome guy who doesn't talk about work a lot which I completely understand and respect. 1 week ago Jerry came Into the store with his wife that I have meet on occasion of him shopping, not really a social person which my wife isn't either so I understand. I was in the other isle when I started to hear heavy breathing at the counter then following a loud crash and panicking scream. I rush over to see that it's Jerry on the floor unconscious, I quickly run over and get down to assess him. He wasn't breathing or responding to me. I look over at my boss who we will call Misty to call 911 and grab the AED. I began to unbutton Jerry's shirt to start compression and getting him ready for if we need to use the AED. During this his wife looks at me and "are you really going to perform CPR, I'd rather have a medical professional than you." I didn't even comprehend this comment and just kept continuing. What seemed like 5 minutes of doing comprehension was only 1 minute the wife keeps on yelling at me saying "I don't have the right to touch him without permission or her consent." ignore her and keep doing compressions and mouth to mouth, that's when I start to hear sirens in the distant and since we lived in a super small town it was fortunate to have a hospital close by. the sirens getting closer then suddenly the ambulance was right at our door and rushing in wi the stretcher and one of paramedics asked that if could take over after my round of compressions. Of course I agree and we had a smooth transfer of compressions, that's when my boss with AED in hand comes over and that's when she escorted away from the situation to calm down while the wife was staring daggers into my soul. I was put into a room to calm down and after 10 or so minutes I hear the wife yell "I'm going to press charges against that guy, he could have killed my husband!" My boss tells me to go home after writing a report and take a break for a while. Right now I'm at home scared and waiting for that phone call from a lawyer or someone. I know what I did was right but I feel like I actually did do something wrong with going against the wife's consent. So AITA?

I will try and keep this short. In my 2nd last year of high school, towards the end of the year my father passed away from cancer. The funeral came along and I had a couple of girls from my friend group come to the funeral. At the time of the funeral they were very supportive.
For context I went to a small private girls school with approximately 40 students in the grade, everyone knew everyone and were all close. At this point I had only told that group of girls about my fatherâs death. The majority of my year level knew about my fatherâs cancer.
Fast forward 2 weeks later, my bf at the time told me one of the girls posted a be reel ,15 minutes after the funeral in their car. I approached the girl in the group chat (as she never checks her private DMâs) and asked her, she told me she had taken a photo in the car after the funeral. She showed me the photo. The photo wasnât as bad as my ex bf made it out to be but hereâs the thing⊠in the photo one of the girls was covering her face up, which to me looked like she was crying, but apparently she was âlaughingâ because they were playing music to try and âlighten â the mood. Now I have nothing against trying to lighten the mood, the only thing that annoyed me was the fact that she would post a be real, in black funeral clothes with the other girls all wearing black, with one of them looking like they are crying.
I told her that I felt like that was an invasion of me and my families privacy, since this was on a school day, people would notice easily if a whole friend group was absent, as well as the fact that some teachers who came to support me would also be absent too. When I brought this up I got told I was being dramatic. This is the exact words I was sent

Iâve been trying to break into a niche industry (30-40 jobs in a city with a population of 3 million) for a while now. Iâm in my late 20s, and though it took me some time to decide what I wanted to do with my life, I have finished my degree and completed two internships. Iâm working part-time in a related field and freelancing while searching for a full-time job in the niche industry. Iâm willing to move for the right job, but Iâd rather stay close to home â so I was stoked last summer when I got an interview for one of the very few entry-level jobs available in my city! I ultimately didnât get it, but the interview went well enough they encouraged me to apply the next time they had an opening.
Then an acquaintance who works at the company called me up and asked if I wanted to get coffee. I figured sheâd offer me tips on how to do better next time. Instead, she told me to give up on ever being hired there â turns out, a girl I had gone to high school with is a real rock star at this company, and she threatened to resign when it looked like I was about to be offered a job. (I hadnât realized it was her because her married name is different.) Iâll be honest â I wasnât a very nice person back then, and I probably was pretty awful to this girl. I looked my former classmate up, and her resume really is incredible. She graduated from college early and has awards people whoâve worked in our industry twice as long havenât won. Her public-facing work is top-notch. Iâm guessing sheâs the kind of employee a manager wants to keep around.
My acquaintanceâs prediction appears to be true: I didnât get an interview for a new position at the company that wouldâve been an even better fit than the one Iâd interviewed for. When I asked why, I was told a staffer had raised some concerns and the company would not be moving forward with my candidacy. Iâm heartbroken. I worked so hard for so long to get the training required for this type of work, and I donât think I deserve to be blacklisted for something I said when I was 17. I have my former classmateâs work email. Should I beg for forgiveness?

I know you didnât solicit an update, but I felt compelled to send one. Iâd written you in the spring because I was having trouble breaking into a niche industry in which a high school classmate Iâd bullied was a rock star. I wanted to know if you thought apologizing would help me get a job.
At the advice of your readers, I did delete the draft of an apology email Iâd had sitting in my inbox for some time. I applied for one more job with Rock Starâs company, and when I didnât hear back, I decided it was really and truly time to look elsewhere. I found a shop in a town seven hours away that was desperate to hire someone for a paid 9-month fellowship that started in June because the candidate theyâd originally extended an offer to found a full-time, permanent position. I said goodbye to my boyfriend, packed up my car and two cats, and drove to a town Iâd never been to.
And I hated it. Not the work. I actually loved the work, but the town sucked. Being away from my boyfriend and my family sucked. Not being able to make friends sucked (everyone else my age was married with two kids already). I called my boyfriend every night crying. He was supposed to come visit me over Labor Day but cancelled at the last minute because he had to work. Seeing how bummed I was, a coworker offered to swap shifts with me so I could make the trip home for the long weekend. I hopped into my car after work on Friday and drove all evening, arriving at the place Iâd been sharing with my boyfriend before I moved a little after 1 a.m. Well, you probably know where this was going. He was cheating on me. I was devastated. I spent the rest of the night sobbing on my sisterâs couch and drove back to where I was working the next morning.
Except I couldnât make myself get out of bed on Tuesday. Or Wednesday. Or Thursday. I was fired after my third no call no show.
I tried to get the part-time job Iâd had before moving for the fellowship back (theyâd said come back anytime), but theyâd found someone who was faster and more efficient than Iâd been. Unable to afford a place on my own, I had to move back in with my parents. Not sure what else to do, I sent another desperate application to Rock Starâs shop. In an effort to cheer me up, my sister and my friends took me out for a nice dinner for my birthday at the end of September. This is where it goes from bad to worse. I drank too much wine at dinner and got pretty weepy. I excused myself from the table to try to put myself together ⊠and ran into Rock Star and her husband celebrating their anniversary on the way to the bathroom.
I ended up yelling/crying at her that sheâd ruined my life. I was asked to leave to leave and told I wasnât welcome back.
That was Saturday night. I spent Sunday hungover in bed, trying to figure out how to clean up the mess I made. On Monday morning, Rock Starâs manager (the one hiring for the job Iâd applied for) emailed me to let me know Iâd been removed from the candidate pool. TL:DR Bully has not gained much maturity or insight into her behavior since high school, confronts the Rock Star in a restaurant, then thinks Rock Star bullied her. Where do you think the Bully is now? Asking if you want fries with that?

Before I get into this long rant, let me say that I loved the show, met amazing people, and have generally enjoyed Red Rocks for other shows I have attended (though their accessibility leaves a lot to be desired). This show, however, was a total clusterfuck in how it was handled. I saw ST when they played Mission last year and got there an hour before doors and the line was super long. From my experience at that show, knowing how the fan base is, and knowing that this was sort of a âspecial showâ I decided to get there about 3 hours before doors yesterday. Parking attendant was rude when I didnât turn when they wanted despite me hesitating because there was a car behind her she didnât see heading toward me. Fine, whatever. Ended up parking in upper north because I have severe asthma and itâs typically less stairs to go in at the top. Was camping out and had so much fun with fans. Seemed like we were in the first 300 or so at that entrance. Closer to 5:30 maybe we see a worker walking down. Think nothing of it. She then comes back with a whole bunch of people from the back of the line and practically whispers come this way for a shorter line and directs them to some different line that is apparently shorter. No notice. We all have chairs and food and a bunch of stuff we canât just pick up and get up. Plus she had a huge line of people following her from the back that made it hard to jump in. That was annoying but figured maybe they are sending them somewhere else and it will be fine. Nope. They got the main north entrance up top. Our line ends up getting directed to a little side entrance instead of the main entrance at the top. The security was a joke. Only two people checking the line. They didnât even look in my bag and just asked if I had anything in there. I had a huge blanket on top. I could have had anything under there. Ended up getting dumped at the bottom of the stairs so had to climb up even more with my asthma and at this point I was tasting blood. Because we got directed to such a small entrance where they took a while getting people in instead of the several people checking at the main entrances, the show was half full already (later saw pictures from people on twitter who were ahead of us by like 150 or so at like one of the first few rows after the ticketed seats). They should have directed the front of the line forward and had people move up. I know that fan lines arenât honored but this wasnât like a, I gave myself a number and came back at 6pm situation. Would have saved that worker from having to walk to what I assume was all the way to lower north too. So thus far we have getting fucked in line order, getting fucked at the entrance, and absolutely terrible security. Again, Iâm just trying to enjoy my night so still trying to shake it off. Nope, the venue clusterfuck saga continues. Try to get in a merch line and there is attendant there who is turning everyone away in a very rude manner saying itâs too full. You need to climb all the way to the top to get in the back of the other lines. Greatttt. Get our spots, get in the other merch line. The merch line took about an hour or so and I missed all of ESB but it was worth it and the merch people were super nice. Come back and see how OVERSOLD it is. The whole time I was in merch line I could see the upper south entrance and it was completely slammed the whole time. When I was trying to get back there were people everywhere because there were no seats left. I decide to get a drink and while Iâm waiting I see probably a 64 year old worker literally grabbing people forcibly by their arms and pulling them in the direction she wants. She yelled at me asking if I was in line and I awkwardly laughed that I hoped so. She was not amused and went back to grabbing people roughly by their arms and yelling at everyone. I get back and enjoy the show but you couldnât help but notice just people standing everywhere because they oversold by so much. These tickets were like $190 base with fees and people traveled from everywhere so I can only imagine how frustrated they felt. I saw posts after of people saying how they couldnât see through the trees and attendants kept telling people where they couldnât be but not where they could. I have worked crowd control before and I understand it is hard, but the venue really fucked this one up. Overall the fans themselves were great and the vibes were amazing, but Red Rocks needs to get it together. Staff grabbing and yelling at guests and not properly checking bags is so absolutely not okay.

So first o fall i have to admit, as a Hades I player i needed some time to get used to the sprint mechanic, i grew to like it, and started trying different sprint boons. Today i got lucky, and got a + 60% sprint speed boon from apollo in the first few chambers, already really fast, i felt like a race car, and it was really fun just running circles around my enemies. In the next region, just before fighting Scylla, i got offfered a +20% sprint boon by hermes, and of course i had to take it. (and one pom upgraded the apollo boon to 70%) It was incredible, i ran like i never ran before, even putting the likes of Secretariat or Barry Allen to shame, the only issue was that i kept running into things, getting caught on pillars, rocks, anything really. I was so fast, even the bigger chambers felt claustrophobic to me.
In the end i lost to scylla since i had no dmg boons, but the "run" was still really fun.
I know this is early access, and they will probably reduce the speed, so im not gonna complain, this is more of a warning (or encouragement) to everyone else.
Shoot for the stars, and run through the whole Underworld, but dont be surprised if you trip Death to Chronos

Between 3.17 and 3.22, the Cutlass Black co-pilot seat's missile operator mode worked on and off. I remember the functionality working but the UI failing. Although still not fully fleshed out, yet, missiles are still a fun-enough role to give to a Co-Pilot friend or guest. I hope SQ42 "figured out" missile designs for us.
In 3.23, the Cutlass Black Co-Pilot can't enter Missile Operator Mode at all.
The other Co-Pilot feature that offered a semblance of contributory value was the power distribution MFD; the pilot could remain HOTAS or HOSAS and call for power, shield, or engines from Co-Pilots. Between 3.17 and 3.22, the Cutlass Black co-pilot seat's power MFD never worked with mouse interaction but could be manipulated via the F5-F8 keys.

I've been having this gut feeling that my GFs cheating on me for the past 1-2 months and am reaching a breaking point. I don't believe it's healthy for these feelings to be left to fester and am wondering whether I'm being crazy or reasonable, and if so how to start this conversation/resolve these feelings.
This started a few months ago when my GF made two new friends (M) and (F), unsure of their ages. They began hanging out, with one of their first being from 9 PM - 3 AM at a store that closes at 10 PM. They spent the remaining time in the parking lot of this shopping plaza and I heard from her maybe once during this time. Eventually, they began hanging out at the M friend's house (he lives with his parents), and she would be out until 4-5 AM with 1-2 text messages.
When I asked her about these hangouts there was 0 detail, no references to conversations had or activities they did. Eventually, I had a conversation with her about this asking her for more detail and she would slightly increase it, "We talked about music" or "We played a few games of so and so", but nothing more. Additionally, with other friends, she'll tell me distinct conversations and stories from them, however none with these friends.
I also asked about her few responses to my texts or FT calls when she's out. She explained that when she's out with friends she likes to focus on the people she's with and won't text frequently or respond to my FTs/calls when she's out with people.
I feel similar (if it's random friends), but if she were to text me or call me when I was out I would pick up without a thought. This explanation confused me and personally doesn't resonate but I feel as though it does make sense and we just have different feelings regarding this topic.
A week or two later she went out alone with M friend to play basketball and visit a gym together, from around 9 AM - 1 PM. Later that same week, the two of them went out to lunch again for multiple hours without a word from her. During the hanging out I noticed her location showed the parking lot of her community gym for ~30ish minutes. We talked later in the day when I asked if she had gone to the gym which she said she hadn't. Her gym has an outdoor seating area as well, which she's previously used and has mentioned to me before. This worried me, why are you in a parking lot for that long with another man?
This recently happened again, in the same parking lot, and this time ~45 minutes or so before a response, but this time she said she was with the F friend. This was at 10:30 pm after previously being at the outdoor seating area. Why would you move from your outdoor seating to a car for that long and that late at night? Was she really with her F friend? When I'm with her and we hang out as soon as whatever planned activity is finished she wants to leave. She doesn't want to hang out in either of our cars, she just wants to go. I'm confused and hurt as to why it seems different with her friends.
After feeling worried about this, I asked her if I could meet her friends and she was vehemently against it. She said that she 'barely knows them' and would feel awkward introducing me to them. This seemed incredibly suspicious to me. She's hanging out with them 1-2 times a week for 4+ hours at a time, and why would it be awkward to introduce your partner to your friends?

First off I want to say I have been one of the defenders of the game, and I'm glad I was, because it's an excellent game now, and it's only going to get better.
The main controversy is of course, exploration.
It's controversial only because people expect certain things from a Bethesda game, like a dedicated world map to explore. And in this game which is brand new IP - there is no world map.
Let's just state that again, because as far as I can tell, it is not sinking in for most people.
Starfield has no world map.
Todd gave an interview recently (Kinda Funny) and Bryan gave an interview near launch (MinMax) and in both those interviews if you listen carefully they said what effectively amounts to exploration not being the priority with Starfield.
Procgen is side content. You are not meant to explore these generic procgen tiles as a replacement for the Boston Commonwealth or Skyrim. It couldn't possibly be that...
If you literally click a random pixel on a planet, generate the procgen tile, then go and painstakingly study every rock on that tile, there is a very good chance (roughly 100%) that you will get bored. Bethesda could not possibly have intended you to do that. My opinion is they let people think it was an exploration game because of corporate pressure from above, it's bad PR if Todd had outright said "it's not an exloration game - stick with Fallout if you want that."
So, if Starfield can be called an exploration game at all (and it's debatable) then here is my (possibly eccentric) interpretation of how exploration is supposed to be done. At this point, I'm going to sound a bit patronizing but I want to be clear I am not insulting anyones intelligence, I also want this to be a mini guide for newbys to the game so they don't get confused and disillusioned like so many have. Bethesda probably made the game too open, but as Todd said in his last interview (Kinda Funny) they "want the game to say yes to you."
Ok, so the main exploration in Starfield is done from the cockpit - except - it's actually done through the menu...
Yeah, you go to the Star Map, click on a random star and jump to it. From there you have a look in your System Map (one level down from Star Map) and you are looking for these little encounter markers on the map. There is a ship, asteroids, sensor contact, hostile activity... Possibly others, and no doubt more will be added. You then fly to it and have the encounter.
Also, if you look at planets and moons, notice some have three dots (...) on them - that means there is a POI on that planet pre populated for you to investigate. Sometimes it is a civilian structure (fracking, outpost), sometimes it is a structure defended by a hostile faction (abondoned weapons lab, etc). You then land at it, take a good look around at the lovely planet tile (and that's it... not spend 16hrs exploring...) go to your POI, murder everyone and go...
So, from that, you can say that it is primarily about space exploration which then potentially advances into on-foot exploration. This approach requires you to self-moderate your gameplay...
Look at it another way. I am not very knowledgable about Sci Fi generally but one show I have watched a lot was Star Trek Next Generation. I think Starfield gameplay is meant to flow like Next Generation...
Picard says "warp to..." there is a cutscene of the ship warping - another of the ship reaching it's destination... The crew member says "sir, our scans show..." - Picard says "hmm... let's investiate - divert power to shields..." cutscene of the ship leaving destination - and of the ship arriving at it's new destination with the encounter in front of them...
If they go down to the surface it's "beam me down..." then when they arrive, you take in the vista of the alien world - but only for a moment - not for 20 hours... otherwise it'll get boring... After they scan or shoot stuff, they say "beam me up" and they are back on the ship drinking boba tea.
So the procgen tile serves the following purposes, in order:
-Visual background for the poi you spotted from space.
-Area for you to build your outpost on.
-Area for surveying.-
-Area for random exploration.
So in my opinion people exploring the tiles were basically "playing it wrong." Now you could come back and say "ahh but Bethesda are the developer, it's is their job to guide the player, etc" I won't argue with any of that. The fact that there was so much controversy certainly implies that Bethesda did something wrong.
But let's look at what they did right? If you like exploring the POI's, and I consider them among Bethesda's best work. Then you can do the above method or even better, take the radiant quests from the Mission Boards and it actually tells you which POI the enemy is occupying. I have a spreadsheet and I'm working my way through the POIs. I take the bounty only if it is situated at a POI that I haven't visited or feel like doing. The POIs are incredibly well designed, in my opinion.
So with all that said, how do I think this system can be improved upon? And as I said, I reject the idea of the game being fundamentally broken - that is just people who wish it was Fallout 4 or Skyrim. They wish they were playing a different type of game. Well, God did not command Bethesda to make pure open-world exploration games centred on a dedicated world map. They made a different type of game, perhaps it requires a different mental approach... I admit, in order to enjoy STarfield I have to self-moderate my play a bit...
Ok, here are my suggestions.
1. Have a fixed position for all the POI's, spread accross the galaxy. So you can definitely find them all.
2. Give all POI's and varients unique names (not simply "Civilian Outpost").
3. Have a compendium, captains log, library - something, to chronicle your exploration.
4. Make it possible to grav-jump without entering the menu, with a hotkey - and be notified if there are encounters.
5. Make ship modules like brig and infirmary work, and fuel costs (already available via mods).
tldr; Starfield is not Fallout. If you are playing it like Fallout - you ARE playing it wrong.

So in my opinion people exploring the tiles were basically "playing it wrong." Now you could come back and say "ahh but Bethesda are the developer, it's is their job to guide the player, etc" I won't argue with any of that. The fact that there was so much controversy certainly implies that Bethesda did something wrong.
But let's look at what they did right? If you like exploring the POI's, and I consider them among Bethesda's best work. Then you can do the above method or even better, take the radiant quests from the Mission Boards and it actually tells you which POI the enemy is occupying. I have a spreadsheet and I'm working my way through the POIs. I take the bounty only if it is situated at a POI that I haven't visited or feel like doing. The POIs are incredibly well designed, in my opinion.
So with all that said, how do I think this system can be improved upon? And as I said, I reject the idea of the game being fundamentally broken - that is just people who wish it was Fallout 4 or Skyrim. They wish they were playing a different type of game. Well, God did not command Bethesda to make pure open-world exploration games centred on a dedicated world map. They made a different type of game, perhaps it requires a different mental approach... I admit, in order to enjoy STarfield I have to self-moderate my play a bit...
Ok, here are my suggestions.
1. Have a fixed position for all the POI's, spread accross the galaxy. So you can definitely find them all.
2. Give all POI's and varients unique names (not simply "Civilian Outpost").
3. Have a compendium, captains log, library - something, to chronicle your exploration.
4. Make it possible to grav-jump without entering the menu, with a hotkey - and be notified if there are encounters.
5. Make ship modules like brig and infirmary work, and fuel costs (already available via mods).
tldr; Starfield is not Fallout. If you are playing it like Fallout - you ARE playing it wrong.

I remember being 4 and 5 years old in my southern Baptist church kindergarten class and being told that Jesus was coming back or I could die at any second, so I better not sin and to accept Jesus into my heart so I didnât burn in hell. I remember being absolutely terrified of the idea that Jesus could come back at any moment. I remember being so scared looking out the window thinking it could happen at any minute. There was just always a feeling of impending doom.
My first panic attack happened when I was about 6 or 7 at VBS. We were in a small dark room and I donât know why on earth the lesson involved this but the teacher said âif this building collapsed and you died right now, would you go to heaven?â I remember so clearly the teacher saying that and I was trying to cover my ears and I ran out and burst into tears and started having a panic attack.
It didnât help that I also had a religious nut teacher in the second grade that would tell us basically everyday the world was ending and would read us insane articles about âproofâ that it was about to end.
So basically my whole young childhood was very heavily focused on the fact that the world was going to end or you could die any minute so you must be ready for heaven.
And I know thatâs what has caused such a deep seated anxiety in me all my life. Itâs like my fight or flight mode always stays activated. I remember starting to dissociate from a very young age. I remember telling my mom I didnât feel like I was connected to my body when I was so young.
I wouldnât say Iâm anti-religious now. I would like to believe in a higher power but I am terrified of churches. I remember being so scared of what the sermon would be about every time we went. I remember that constant fear that everything could end at any second.
Late 20s now and have tried to control with meds several times over the years but havenât found one thatâs worked for me. I feel like I really need therapy for this. That âdoomâ feeling has stayed with me my entire life in my best moments no matter how hard I try to bury it. It also hurts that my childhood was so full of fear. I wish I could hug my younger self and tell her to be happy and not afraid and that it would be okay.
This was mostly me venting since Iâve never really fully unpacked this but does anyone gave experience with this?

Saturday morning I dreamt a white horse befriended me. The horse hated the owner, but would not leave me alone. As in, it tried to cuddle me on a couch impressively successfully. I woke up to my alarm as I had a flight that day.
This morning, at around five am I had a dream I was riding in a car in the back seat. In the car behind me, I could hear the people speaking⊠the man was silent but the woman I could hear clearly. She asked if my name was really my name, to the man next to her I suppose. I turned to see the man, I could not see the woman as I was improperly placed to do so. The man looked caught off guard that I could hear them. I asked, how do you know my name? She responded, the spirits told her. I asked who it was. She said a lot of them. There were many spirits attached to me. The next thing I know the man is standing in front of me and the woman has her hand in my chest holding me from the inside with her left hand and the right was placed firmly on the top of my head. She stayed behind me, so I still could not see her. She seemed calm and asked the man, has she offended me? Why are there so many with her? Again I could not hear the man and his mouth did not move. She then spoke to me, youâve seen what shouldnât have been seen, and I will try to help. Her voice and inflection were that of reassurance. The feeling of her hand through my back and into my body, as well as my head intensified. It wasnât pain, just pressure but an odd sort of pressure. Then she said, thereâs just too much. My husband irl appeared in the dream and her and the man vanished. My husband asked what had just happened and I responded that I couldnât explain it if I tried. He told someone nearby to check the cameras for the last three minutes of footage. I woke up.
I consulted a pagan friend who suggested I look into Vodou with particular interest in the deities associated with death or spirits. I came across Mamon Brigitte and Baron Samedi. I am from the Deep South and have a mixture of all sorts. Is it possible these two visited me and why?
