2024.06.07 21:01 CitoCrT Basic question: How to count the number high tide/flooding events? :c

This is probably a basic question, but I can't find an answer or paper.
I have a time series of water levels, and I need to know the number of times that the site is flooded. The problem is that the site is always flooded but has multiple level increases.
It's like the image: the water level is always above the reference level and has four increases. How can I count those four events? My idea is to try to calculate the derivative, then find the places where it is zero, and see if it is a local maximum or minimum, and just keep and count the local maxima.
As far as I am aware, if the site weren't always flooded, I would only need to count the number of times that the water crossed the reference level, but I don't know what to do with constant inundation

2) 241 kilometers round trip.
3) Roof bars with a folded down bicycle rack.
4) Temperatures between 16 and 19 C.
5) Mostly highway driving but Western Canada Highways - not USA Freeways. More like country roads frankly, sometimes just two lanes.
6) Mostly between 80 and 120 kph. You can see my average speed was 43 kmh
6) Climate control set between 20 and 22 C.
7) consumption was 20.7 kWh/100km
8) Left the house at 100 % - got home with 29%

2024.06.07 21:00 rmartin_tt What is Presales?

What is Presales?
What is presales? Presales is about ensuring that the proposed solution aligns precisely with customer requirements, thereby laying a solid foundation for a successful sales outcome.

The One Big Job in Presales

If there’s only one thing you take away from this article, it’s the recognition that the one big job of presales is to effectively understand the needs and requirements of potential customers (prospects) and to establish a clear and compelling connection between those needs and the solutions or products offered by the company.
And that’s it, well kinda.
Presales is also a series of activities undertaken before a customer makes a purchase. It's a strategic process that lays the groundwork for a successful sale by:
  • Engaging deeply with the customer to fully grasp their requirements.
  • Demonstrating how a product or service can effectively meet these needs.
  • Providing detailed knowledge about the product's features and capabilities.
  • Tailoring solutions to fit the unique scenarios of each customer.
  • Articulating a clear value proposition, including the benefits and return on investment.
What is Presales

What Do the Major Sales Methodologies Have to Say About Presales?

All of the major sales methodologies outline important goals and objectives in the presales process:
  • MEDDIC: This methodology (although MEDDIC does not define itself as a sales methodology, but as a deal qualification approach) emphasizes the importance of identifying Metrics, Economic buyers, Decision criteria, Decision process, Identifying pain, and Champion. In presales, this translates to a deep understanding of the customer's business, the key metrics they use to measure success, and the specific pain points they face. This approach ensures that the solution presented is highly tailored and relevant to the customer's unique context.
  • Strategic Selling (Miller Heiman): This approach focuses on understanding the various stakeholders involved in the purchasing decision. During presales, it's crucial to identify the different buying influences, such as economic buyers, technical buyers, and end-users, and tailor the pitch to address each group's specific concerns and needs. This methodology underscores the importance of aligning the solution with the strategic objectives of the customer's organization.
  • SPIN Selling: This method focuses on four types of questions – Situation, Problem, Implication, and Need-payoff. In presales, the aim is to ask insightful questions to uncover the customer's current situation and problems, understand the implications of these problems, and finally, make the customer see the value or 'payoff' of the solution.
  • Challenger Sale: The Challenger Sale methodology is based on delivering insights that challenge a customer's thinking. In presales, this means not just responding to customer needs, but actively shaping them by offering new perspectives and solutions that redefine their understanding of their own problems and needs. This approach requires a deep industry and product expertise to be effective.
  • Solution Selling: Emphasizing problem identification and resolution, Solution Selling in the presales phase involves actively guiding potential customers through an awareness of their needs to a commitment to solve these needs with your product. It's about creating a need where one was not clearly identified before and then fulfilling it.
One thing that remains consistent across all the methodologies is advice to work hand-in-hand with the buying team of your prospect to author documents that clearly define their needs and how the solution addresses their issues. This collaborative approach helps ensure that both the sales team and the prospect understand and agree on what's needed and how the solution can meet those needs. It's a straightforward, effective way to make sure everyone is on the same page, making it a key part of a successful sales strategy.

What are the Top Ten Presales Documents?

It's important to note that while aforementioned sales methodologies may refer to these documents (also known as sales documents) by various names, the underlying objectives they serve are remarkably consistent across them all.
These documents are designed to align the vendor's solutions with the customer's needs, ensuring a mutual understanding and agreement on the requirements, goals, objectives, and how the proposed solution fits these criteria. This common ground, established through documentation, is a fundamental element in bridging the gap between customer expectations and the vendor's offerings, integral to a successful sales process.

The top ten presales documents include:

1. Responses to Requests for Information, Requests for Proposals (RFx):
Early in the sales process, presales teams often collaborate with prospects through RFx documents such as the Request for Information or the Request for Proposal. These documents, frequently authored by the prospect, contain many of the prospect's unique requirements. Presales teams respond to these requests to ensure that prospects have a clear understanding of the company's solutions and how they address their specific needs, ultimately leading to a commitment from the prospect to move forward. As a side point, maintaining a repository of RFx responses can be a terrific way to capture prospect knowledge, spot industry/sector trends, and improve your organization’s abiltiy to respond to RFxs.
2. Customer Requirements Document (CRD):
At the outset of the presales process, the Customer Requirements Document is essential. This document is a comprehensive record of the customer's specific requirements, preferences, and specifications for the solution. It is developed through detailed discussions and analysis, ensuring that every aspect of the customer's needs is captured. The CRD serves as the foundation for all subsequent planning and solution development, as it defines what the customer expects from the solution, both in terms of functionality and business outcomes.
3. Business Case Document:
Following the CRD, a Business Case Document is often prepared to present the rationale for the proposed solution. This document delves into the analysis of the customer's business needs and how the proposed solution addresses these needs. It may include a cost-benefit analysis, potential return on investment, and a detailed examination of how the solution aligns with the customer’s strategic objectives. This document is pivotal in justifying the investment in the solution and in helping key stakeholders understand its value.
4. Mutual Success Plans (MSPs):
Mutual Success Plans are collaboratively developed with the prospect to outline a roadmap to achieving shared goals. These plans detail how the proposed solution will meet the customer's needs, outlining key milestones, timelines, and the expected benefits. MSPs also articulate the return on investment and the value proposition of the solution, ensuring that both parties have a clear understanding of the outcomes and benefits. This document is instrumental in building trust and alignment between the customer and the provider.
5. Statement of Work (SOW):
The Statement of Work is a critical document that formalizes the agreement between the customer and the provider. It outlines the scope of work, deliverables, timelines, and the specific tasks to be undertaken. The SOW serves as a contract, detailing what will be delivered, how it will be done, and when it will be completed. It sets clear expectations and serves as a guideline for the execution of the project, ensuring that both parties are aligned on the project's objectives and deliverables.
6. Implementation Plan:
As the project moves into the implementation phase, an Implementation Plan is developed. This comprehensive document outlines the steps involved in setting up and deploying the solution. It includes detailed timelines, resource allocation plans, training schedules for the customer's team, and protocols for testing and quality assurance. The Implementation Plan is essential for ensuring a smooth transition to the new system or service, providing a step-by-step guide to the actual implementation process.
7. Risk Assessment and Mitigation Plan:
Parallel to the Implementation Plan, a Risk Assessment and Mitigation Plan is often prepared. This document identifies potential risks associated with the project and outlines strategies to mitigate these risks. It includes contingency plans and proactive measures to address any issues that might arise during implementation. The aim is to foresee potential challenges and prepare solutions in advance, minimizing disruptions and ensuring the project stays on track.
8. Proof of Concept (POC) or Pilot Project Plan:
In some cases, particularly for complex or high-value solutions, a Proof of Concept or Pilot Project Plan is executed before full-scale implementation. This plan outlines the scope, objectives, and expected outcomes of a smaller, controlled implementation of the solution. It allows the customer to see and evaluate the solution in action, providing an opportunity to make adjustments before a full rollout. This step is crucial for building confidence in the solution and ensuring it meets all expectations.
9. Go-Live Plans:
Just before the solution is fully implemented, a Go-Live Plan is prepared. This document outlines the final steps required to make the solution operational. It includes detailed schedules for the launch, any final training required for users, and support structures put in place for post-go-live assistance. The Go-Live Plan is the culmination of the presales and implementation process, marking the transition to the new solution.
10. Service Level Agreement (SLA):
Finally, a Service Level Agreement is often established as part of the ongoing relationship post-implementation. The SLA defines the level of service expected from the provider, including response times, quality standards, and maintenance commitments. It sets the parameters for service delivery and provides metrics for evaluating the service's performance. This document is essential for maintaining a clear understanding of the ongoing responsibilities and expectations in the post-sales phase.
Each document plays a vital role in the presales and implementation process, helping to ensure clarity, alignment, and successful execution of the project. They provide a structured framework for understanding customer needs, delivering the solution, and maintaining a high level of service post-implementation.

How best to collaborate with prospects on critical presales documents?

When collaborating with prospects on presales documents, it's essential to recognize that typical internal communication tools, while effective for team interactions, may not be suitable for external engagements. This mismatch often drives sales teams to default to email for document collaboration with clients. However, email, with its limitations in tracking conversations and document versions, can lead to disorganization and inefficiency.
Improve your pre-sales efficiency using TakeTurns
Thankfully, there are specialized external collaboration tools. Beyond the conventional reliance on email, platforms like TakeTurns offer a more structured, secure, and transparent solution. TakeTurns is designed for client engagement, providing a turn-by-turn structure, which helps facilitate orderly feedback, and systematic progression. In addition, keeping all the content in one place helps everyone stay on the same page. Tools like TakeTurns cut down on the “pain in the ass” factor, making it easier for prospects to work with you, reducing friction and improving engagement.

Who Typically Participates in Presales from the Prospect or Customer’s Side?

According to Gartner, the size of buying teams can vary significantly. (For more on enterprise buying, look at research by Hank Barnes and Michele Buckley). On average, buying teams include about six to seven members, but this number can increase considerably for larger deals. For instance, in IT services deals exceeding $5 million, the buying team averages around 15 stakeholders. This variability in team size adds complexity to the purchasing process. Moreover, the level of active participation within these teams can fluctuate based on the size of the purchase or the stage of the purchase process. Also, it’s worth it to be wary of the “occasional decision makers” who may not be actively involved throughout the entire process but can have considerable influence on the final decision.
  1. Decision Makers: These are the individuals who have the authority to make the final purchasing decision. They are often senior executives or leaders within the organization who evaluate the solution's strategic fit and impact on the company's goals.
  2. Influencers: These individuals are not social media influencers, however like influencers on tiktok or instagram, they can often have significant influence/sway over the purchase decision. They could be senior staff or specialists who understand the strategic and operational implications of the solution.
  3. End Users: The actual users of the product or service. Their input is crucial as they can provide practical insights into how the solution will be used day-to-day and what features are most important to them.
  4. Technical Evaluators: In the case of technical or IT-related solutions, technical evaluators such as IT managers or technical leads play a critical role. They assess the technical compatibility and integration of the solution with existing systems.
  5. Financial Evaluators: Often, members from the finance department are involved in assessing the financial impact of the solution, including cost-benefit analysis, budgeting, and return on investment.
  6. Legal and Compliance Officers: Especially in regulated industries or for solutions that require adherence to specific regulations, legal and compliance officers are involved to ensure that the solution meets all legal and regulatory requirements.
  7. Procurement Specialists: These individuals manage the purchasing process, negotiate contracts, and ensure that all procurement policies are adhered to.
  8. External Consultants or Advisors: In some cases, the prospect may engage external consultants or industry experts to provide an unbiased evaluation of the solution and its fit within the broader market or industry context.
Each of these participants plays a distinct role in the presales process from the prospect's side, contributing their expertise and perspective to ensure that the solution being considered meets the organization's needs, is cost-effective, and aligns with their strategic, operational, and technical requirements.

Who Typically Participates in Presales from the Vendor’s Side?

In the presales process, several key roles from the vendor side typically participate, each contributing unique skills and expertise:
  1. Presales Consultants/Specialists/Sales Engineers:They are the primary players in the presales process. Presales consultants possess deep product knowledge and understand how to align product features with customer needs. They often lead demonstrations, answer technical questions, and help tailor solutions to customer requirements.
  2. Sales Representatives/Account Managers: While primarily responsible for the sales aspect, sales representatives often participate in presales activities. They build and maintain client relationships, understand customer needs, and coordinate with the presales team to present solutions effectively.
  3. Technical Experts: For technology or product-focused businesses, technical experts or engineers play a crucial role in presales. They provide in-depth technical expertise, address complex technical queries, and assist in demonstrating the technical aspects of a product or service.
  4. Product Managers: Product managers may get involved in the presales phase, especially for complex or highly specialized products. They have a comprehensive understanding of the product and its development and can provide insights into future enhancements and roadmap.
  5. Product Marketers: Product marketers contribute by providing essential market insights, competitor analysis, and materials like brochures, case studies, and presentations that support the presales process.
  6. Solution Architects: In some cases, especially in IT and service-oriented businesses, solution architects are involved to design and articulate how a solution can be implemented in the customer's environment.
  7. Project Managers: They may be involved in outlining the scope, timeline, and resources required for implementing the solution, contributing to the creation of a project plan or a statement of work.
  8. Customer Success Managers: They sometimes participate in presales to provide insights into post-sale service, support, and long-term success strategies for the customer.
  9. Legal and Compliance Experts: For deals that require legal scrutiny or have to meet specific compliance standards, these experts are involved to ensure that proposals meet legal and regulatory requirements.
Each of these roles collaborates to ensure a comprehensive, customer-focused approach in the presales process, aiming to effectively demonstrate the value and applicability of the solution to the prospective customer.

2024.06.07 20:56 Yangry252 How did kids and series newcomers deal with Indigo Disk's main story difficulty spike compared to the main game and Teal Mask?

I've been wondering this for a while. Scarlet and Violet are generally pretty easy games and Teal Mask is generally only a slight step up besides the final kieran fight (and even then, there's a very small level difference between him and the final fight in the main story so even casual players are likely overleveled.)
Then Indigo disks' BBE4 have stuff like higher level double battles, overall more competent movesets, some decent potential strats and even fully ev'd mons with appropriate held items.
I've had friends say that they feel these fights felt refreshing after the easier main game and I couldn't agree more, but I'm sure there's alot of people who played this dlc who haven't played alot of pokemon oand are kids. My question is whether these battles were too frustrating for these people to get through.
I'm sure there's some people here who have kids that played this game or are newcomers to the series who can answer this for me.

2024.06.07 20:53 Thambot Passed SAA-C03 - Sharing My Experience!

Background

The company I work for recently decided to sponsor a cohort of folks to get AWS certified. Since being notified that this was happening, I've been poking around in this subreddit looking for advice, popular studying materials, etc. I ended up finding some really useful information in here, so I wanted to provide others with my experience hoping it'll help them too.
As for my (relevant) professional background, I have about 2-3 years of experience working with various services in AWS. While I don't think it's 100% necessary to have this much hands on experience, I can say that it absolutely helped.

Studying & Preparation

The program offered to us was basically split into two chunks:
  1. A 4-day live course experience (taken at-home)
  2. Dedicated self-study time with materials provided by WhizLabs, AWS SkillBuilder, and Skillsoft
The expectation was to take the live course, study (a lot), and come out the other side in about a month or so with certification in-hand.
I'll say right off the bat - every resource named above was valuable overall and contributed to passing the exam. That said, I'll get into a little bit of detail for anyone interested and wondering which path they might take.
4-Day Live Course
The live course was good for all the reasons you might expect, and not good for other reasons you might expect. The instructor was very knowledgeable, answered any/all questions we had throughout, and put in effort for a solid 8+ hours each day. The downside to a live course structured over 4-days is, you're effectively cramming brand new information for those 8+ hours on the instructors' schedule - you run to the bathroom, you miss something. You don't understand something - you can ask, but don't want to hold up the class. Everyone learns at a different pace, and there's just no retaining an entire certifications worth of information in 3 days plus an "Exam Prep" day. By hour 5 or 6, you're pretty much fried (or at least I was).
Self-study: WhizLabs, AWS Skillbuilder, Skillsoft, and Tutorials Dojo
Here's the obvious "meat and potatoes" of the exam preparation experience, and what I assume most people will be interested in.
WhizLabs
Right after the live course ended, I dove headfirst into self-study mode. I consumed every single SAA-C03 training video WhizLabs offered in about a week or so, sprinkling their practice tests in throughout. As expected, I started off slow and began to heat up as I continued learning and getting used to question phrasing.
WhizLabs Practice Tests
Practice TestsAttempt #1Attempt #2 Test 154%80% Test 269%85% Test 383%- Test 485%- Test 563%91% Test 678%93% Final Test95%-
Note: Second attempts were never taken directly after the first, and always given 3-4 days in between attempts to minimize memorizing the questions/answers.
AWS Skillbuilder
I didn't spend a ton of time here, but there are a number of useful resources to take advantage of, including an "official" AWS SAA-C03 practice exam! This was, in my opinion, a great experience because only AWS has the secret sauce for question weighting, unscored questions, etc. I also thought the questions were written a bit better than WhizLabs overall and more closely reflected the actual exam (as expected). I also took comfort in knowing that it's regularly updated and maintained by AWS. I only made a single attempt on this and scored a 723 - cutting it close, but I took it on the earlier side of my video review before finishing all of the content on WhizLabs.
Skillsoft
Almost no time spent here based on some feedback from others in my cohort. I heard that their practice questions were on the easier side, so I elected to skip it and move onto TD practice tests based on reviews on this subreddit!
Tutorials Dojo
Ah, the reigning king of SAA-C03 practice tests! I was actually a bit skeptical of TD when I first read about them because I'd never heard of them before (even after taking a number of other Cisco certifications). For anyone else trying to AVOID dumps and wondering about legitimate studying resources, simply use the AWS "Partner Solutions Finder" and filter by "Authorized Training Partners" found here: AWS Partner Solutions Finder (amazonaws.com).
Anyways, about a week or so out from my exam I decided that taking WhizLabs practice tests over and over again had reached the point of diminishing returns, so I called an audible and purchased the SAA-C03 practice tests pack from Tutorials Dojo. I wasn't reimbursed for this or anything - it was all out of pocket, and it was the best $15 I've ever spent! If you're on the fence about buying these leading up to your exam, hesitate no further. This is one of those times where I would've MUCH rather had and not needed than needed and not had - I would've been a trainwreck if I'd failed the exam and TD could've made the difference.

Note: Again, tried not to take the same exam multiple times in a row to avoid memorization of questions/answers.
For the TD tests, I only made 1 attempt per test. If I failed, I retook it, but in a different mode just to mix it up a little. As you can see, I was getting pretty confident toward the end of my studying. After doing well on the final test, I opted to take all of the topic-based tests too just to say I left no stone unturned - I found these valuable as well.
WhizLabs VS SkillBuilder VS Skillsoft VS Tutorials Dojo
I think this is another thing people are curious about, so I'll comment on this briefly. IMO, the quality control of TD was on par with the official AWS Skillbuilder practice exam, and better overall than my experience with WhizLabs. I didn't do much on Skillsoft, so I don't have much to say about them, but I'm sure they are a useful resource as well - I was on a time crunch and had a deadline of 7-JUN-2024, so I had to make the most of my time. I'll also add that I wouldn't change much around my self-studying and the materials I used. I wanted a very well rounded, repetitious approach where I could cast my net as wide as possible - utilizing all of these different sources for studying was exactly what I needed/wanted.

Exam

I'll preface this section by saying I am the worst test taker in history. I've always been a nervous, anxious wreck leading up to any test on any level - my heart pounds, my blood pumps, my hands shake. It's just how I am /shrug. If this sounds like you, I hope you can read through this post and use this information to boost your confidence.
So, the day finally came.
I got up around 7am with the exam scheduled for 12:15pm. I ate a small breakfast and had some coffee before cutting myself off of all food and drinks. For me, 2 hours is pretty long time to sit still and be 100% concentrated on something without having to go to the bathroom, so I took extra caution here and had nothing for a good 3-4 hours prior to the exam (YMMV).
I know some folks swear by relaxing the morning of their test, but I couldn't help myself. I actually made a little to-do list for myself for that morning:
After completing that checklist, I had about 30 minutes before leaving to take the test in-person at a Pearson Vue testing center. I took this time to just try to chill my nerves, reflect, and be with my family a little bit.
Finally, it was time to hit the road. I got there about 30 minutes early and whipped out my flashcards again. Ironically, I opted to take the test at a testing center to avoid noisy yardwork around my neighborhood - as soon as I parked, a crew on riding lawnmowers was doing donuts right behind my car... lol. About 20 minutes before my scheduled appointment time, I went inside, checked in, and hit the restroom one last time.
GO TIME.
With the lawnmower gang in full force right outside the test center windows, I opted to use the noise cancelling headset they supplied. This worked well, despite being able to hear my uncontrollable heartbeat the entire time.
How were the questions?
I'm not sure if I got unlucky or what, but even after 300+ hours of studying, 250+ flashcards, and 900+ practice questions, I still felt like I got caught off-guard by a large number of questions. I was getting what seemed like odd outlier questions about container services that weren't ever mentioned in my studying. I want to stay somewhat ambiguous here when talking about exam questions to avoid any trouble but suffice to say that it was not what I expected. I hit the core services hard while studying: ASGs, EC2, S3, EFS, Route53, ELB, RDS, DynamoDB, ECS/EKS, etc. etc. What I ended up getting were questions about outlying services that I didn't ever remember seeing before (which I didn't think was possible). I even asked my wife to check the official AWS exam guide to see if a few of these services were mentioned - nope.
Was the real exam easier or harder than all the practice tests?
If I had to give a cut and dry answer based on my personal experience and the question set I received, I'd say harder unfortunately.
In hindsight, would you have changed anything?
Nope! I studied extremely hard for this exam. It was difficult for me despite my experience, but I would do it the same way if I had to do it all over again. I think going far and wide is what you want for the Associate level test - lay eyes on everything once or twice, and don't sink too much time into diving very deeply into any particular thing (unless it piques your interest, of course).

Drumroll... Final Score

After about 7 weeks of study hell, I'm proud to pat myself on the back for scoring a 791 on the SAA-C03!
I didn't exactly blow the test out of the water, but I also walked out of the testing center accepting the fact that I tanked the exam hard. I called my wife on the way home to vent and give her the bad news and spent the rest of the day finishing up some work and lounging around the house, fully expecting to have to start studying again after our upcoming vacation (which would also be kind of a drag after potentially failing).
In the end, it all worked out. I randomly woke up around midnight to check my results via phone in bed to find out the good news. I sprang up, woke up my poor wife, and we celebrated right then and there.
If you made it this far, thanks for reading and I sincerely hope this helps others in some way. Also, be sure to thank those around you who supported you leading up to your test - they were there to pick up the slack while your head was buried in the "cloud," and they will be there to celebrate your accomplishments after you pass your exam.

2024.06.07 20:52 Curious-Job6856 Low/High Cortisol

Hi everyone! I am new to posting on reddit but I just wanted to see if anyone has experienced having high or low cortisol issues, and what your symptoms are. I have an appointment with my gyno in one month, and hopefully get bloodwork or anything to check what could be happening....but I just wanted some insight before my appointment incase the bloodwork takes forever to get back, if my doctor doesn't hear me out etc. I am not trying to self diagnose but just get more insight. Anything or any information can help!
I can't tell what the main differences are like in symptoms between high/low cortisol....they look to be very similar and I have most symptoms from both of them. I do have a puffy moon face, hold water in my body, sweating and always heating up/never hardly cold, can't get a full nights sleep/always wake up, always angry/moody/irritable (I hateee this one lol), losing haihair thinning drastically, eyelash/eyebrow hair loss, pale looking/no glow or color, always bad memory/always confused and forgetting the smallest and simplest detail, swollen/droopy/slight red rash around both eyes, joint pain in knees/low back pain even laying in bed, feel reactions to eating mostly anything, always bloated, constipation....
Would these issues be more related to high, or low levels of cortisol? I definitely feel sluggish, tired, and just in general so worn out. Even the smallest tasks like showering/making a meal feel like a huge task to me now and have been for maybe 5-6 years.....and I just can't live my life this way any more especially to how normal and alive I used to feel :/ There's def something off, I just have no answer yet.
BTW I had candida in 2019 and was working with a very expensive holistic doctor on it, and I had to stop going because it was too much so I have no idea if that was fixed with the 20 supplements I had to take each day. So, there are definitely gut issues possibly still prevalent. I can only go with my new gyno that I will see in a month.

2024.06.07 20:52 OzymandiasTheII How many of you even remember why we needed 9.5? We shouldn't have needed it.

Stop the pearl clutching PLEASE. The game existed in a state of relative normalcy for about 8 years, ask yourself why did we need it?
The way you guys explain it, we were always getting one shot from level 1 to level 20.
Season 5-7 were some of the tankiest seasons in the game. Power creep is just a part of games. It's on the devs to manage it.
Terrible management of the item system since around season 7 was why we needed 9.5, which should have been temporary.
Items like Atalanta's, Heartseeker, and Soul Reaver. It was leaning too heavily in those "Jack of all trades" builds where you can casually just cover multiple niches with no downsides.
People complained, but it seemed like they weren't listening so we all stopped caring.
Season 8 was truly the beginning of the one shot, cracked build era due to broken starters.
This was the beginning of the "Hunter maxing out every stat with wind demon and ornate bow" era.
The devs kept trying to solve problems by over-buffing items and every class would basically have one cookie cutter build that every God would run- instead of individual builds that synergize with a specific God or playstyle.
In the meantime, they removed boots, and added Glyphs.
What characterized the "burst meta?" It was shit like this: https://www.reddit.com/Smite/comments/sg6zcl/how_on_earth_can_sht_like_this_happen_this_game/
Notice that EVEN IN THIS COMMENT SECTION OP is getting roasted for being out of position.
I didn't even get to what it was like being a solo lane/warrior main watching the devs incompetently manage things and ruin the game state for over 2 years at this point. I literally stopped playing it was so trash.
Many of the changes seemed to be geared towards getting people to the late game faster and protect people from getting exposed by bad building, bad positioning, or abuse/cheese. And it produced BS like above.
The answer should have been to restructure the items. Make the drawbacks much more apparent. But they made excuses and took the path of least resistance and we all stopped caring.
9.5 being reverted is just the start. Smite 2 proved they could make good items. This is a good start.

2024.06.07 20:45 Top-Description-1554 Recovery Story - The Light At The End

*WARNING - this is gonna be a very long post. I also provide a lot of anecdotal recommendations and advice based on my experience and what my CRS told me, but I am not a doctor, so do not take the information I provide as medical advice. *
I’ve been here a long time, and this post is an updated version of one I made several months ago. I feel obligated to give back and report on how things are going for me so that maybe I can help someone else on their journey like so many others have helped me on mine.
I’ve made other posts on this sub, but here is a detailed rundown of my journey:

Beginning of August 2023 -

I have learned a valuable lesson from this and I cannot stress this enough: DON’T MAKE THIS MISTAKE. USE WETS WIPES AND A BIDET. Standard tp is VERY unforgiving. If you do use tp, don’t aggressively rub, gently dab.

September to October 2023 -

October 27, 2023 -

October 28, 2023 -

October 31, 2023 -

I still have no idea what the actual wound looks like, I have zero interest in finding out right now lol.

November 6th, 2023 -

8.5 weeks to 11 weeks post op -

I have my last follow up with my CRS at 8.5 weeks. He's surprised I'm still not fully healed, but not concerned. He said it could take "a few more weeks" and drainage is to be expected as long as there is any kind of wound. He released me from his care.
A couple weeks later, I had a scare where I randomly had a quarter-sized blotch of pure blood on my gauze. A nervous wreck, I call my CRS and was told that it's highly unusual for bleeding this far out from surgery, but not cause for worry unless it got worse and/or did not stop bleeding. I was given the choice to wait it out or head in for an appointment - I chose to wait and see. I didn't bleed like that again and I moved on.
I assume that the surgery site had healed into a shallow fissure at this point and it opened up.

5 months post op -

Present Day, 7 months 1 week from Surgery -

I still feel wary declaring this, but I can say with reasonable confidence that I have completed my healing journey.
I stopped using gauze entirely around the 5.5 month mark and checked drainage levels by gently dabbing with tp after restroom visits. I think I completely stopped seeing the little yellow drainage dots at 6 months.
I also had a very strange incident on the opposite side from my surgery site at 6 months; while washing in the shower, I felt 3 lima-bean sized lumps in my inner cheek tissue that felt a bit tender, and an overall firmness that was not present on my other cheek. I freaked out at first, but decided to take the "wait and see" approach. Those lumps did eventually disappear over the course of about 3 weeks, and I still have no idea what they were. I had been doing a lot of physical work at odd angles and sitting on flat hard ground prior to this, so I think I maybe strained a muscle back there and maybe had some fatty tissue buildup??
That aside, my anus still occasionally feels "odd" and I experience what I assume are nerve pinches from the scar tissue, but I feel great and am living my life more or less like I was before this all happened to me - with some habit changes.
I still use my portable bidet when I need to use the bathroom in a public place, and do not go anywhere without said bidet and a pack of wet wipes.
If I'm at home, I always hop in the shower and wash after a bm so I know I'm sparkling clean back there. I don't think I'll ever shake the need to do this. The trauma from this experience is Too Real. I'm still nervous to get back on my bicycle, but I think I can safely do so if I choose to.
I cannot stress this enough - trust your body and trust the healing process. It is unlikely to be linear, and even if your doctor gives you a healing timeline, it probably will not be accurate.
Some people are lucky and actually heal quickly, but others could take closer to a year - it depends on SO many factors. I had a super fast and super simple fistulotomy, and it took all 7 of these months to feel back to normal. So, don't lose hope if it's taking you longer to heal. Be kind to yourself, give yourself grace, and live your life as fully as you can.
I can't tell you what exactly happened, but some kind of switch in my brain flipped at about the 4 month mark and I just stopped getting myself so worked up over this. No more obsessing, no more doom scrolling. I refused to go back to my CRS unless I literally had another abscess in my ass - which thankfully did not happen.
If a setback happened, I just shrugged and kept going. I was SO tired of letting this thing rule my life. I didn't stop caring for myself, but I sure stopped letting my anxiety get the better of me.
I have learned a lot from from this experience. Namely that it's important to separate reasonable amounts of caution and care from unreasonable obsessing. I'm anxious by nature and have a TON of health anxiety, so this was incredibly difficult for me to overcome.
Obviously, if something is clearly wrong, go back to your CRS - but getting riled up over every single minor setback isn't worth the stress and anxiety, and patience truly is a virtue.
I’ve added some extra notes below in case anyone finds them helpful.

Diet, Hygiene, and More -

  • I’ll admit that my appetite was horrible for the duration of me dealing with this condition. I didn’t eat much and did a LOT of fasting because I was afraid of having bm’s. I highly recommend not doing this to yourself. I felt fatigued constantly.
  • Post-op diet is high fiber and generally healthful. CRS said I could resume my normal diet immediately, minus spicy food and alcohol. I’m making the personal choice to eat healthier on my own. I’m eating a lot of soups, whole grain toast, plain skyr yogurt with granola and mixed fruits, bananas, apples, etc. Basically anything easy to digest but also full of nutrients.
  • Colace stool softener is great and I highly recommend using it pre and post op! Milk of Magnesia is also very good to help get post-op bowels moving.
  • Make sure you keep your butt super clean and dry at all times pre AND post op. Change your gauze every time you use the bathroom. I would wash back there every night with my removable shower head and some gentle castile soap (I use Dr. Bronner’s brand). Make sure whatever soap you use is UNSCENTED, soaps with scents in them could cause unnecessary irritation.
  • I started using Calmoseptine ointment with approval from my CRS around the 10-15 week mark (I don't remember when exactly I started, only that I waited until I was confident I'd finished the bulk of my healing). It's nice for creating a moisture barrier as well as helping with discomfort, but it's very messy/sticky, so be aware of this!
  • For those wondering, I completely abstained from sex until I reached the 4 month post op milestone. It was partly to make sure I was well-healed, but I also had a horrendous self-image and felt anything but sexy all this time. I'm incredibly grateful to my partner for giving me so much patience, it was incredibly hard for both of us.

2024.06.07 20:44 Steve717 I'm tired of One Piece scaling like it contains power levels or something(One Piece)

Recently saw a post that claimed that Luffy is "Planetary level" because he could probably beat Whitebeard at this point.
Why does that make him planetary you ask?
Because Sengoku said Whitebeard "has the power to destroy the whole world"
That's it, that's the singular basis people have for people saying anyone in One Piece can destroy a planet, they take that statement 100% literally and not only that but they think it means anyone stronger than Whitebeard can also do it.
And that's just so fundamentally stupid I can't freaking handle it.

There will be somewhat recent manga spoilers ahead. I don't keep up with the anime so I'm not sure how much of Egghead it's covered.

For starters. We still don't even know what the hell Sengoku meant, we have NO IDEA if he meant Whitebeard could actually physically destroy the world or if he only meant Whitebeard could figuratively destroy the world by upsetting the balance of all things political, which he pretty much did by re-invigorating the Pirate Era with one single sentence. That entire arc was filled with a bunch of metaphorical statements and yet people take Sengoku's statement completely literally.
But supposing Sengoku did mean Whitebeard could physically destroy the world...then it is still incredibly stupid to power scale that shit.
FYI I'm ignoring Blackbeard because Sengoku said it before he stole the Gura Gura, he's not really relevant overall. Less words.
If Whitebeard had the capacity to destroy the world then it is quite clearly only something he could do because the Gura Gura no Mii grants him that kind of power...that's not something that freaking scales, he is the only one who had that power. You can't just say that Roger could also blow up the planet because he was the tiniest bit more powerful than Whitebeard, he couldn't cause earthquakes, he didn't even have a God damn Devil Fruit.
Being able to defeat a character in single combat does not mean you can do the exact same things as them, that's such an insane thing to say in this context. In One Piece people with Devil Fruits are the ONLY people in the world with that particular power(sans a few recreations) and being able to defeat them doesn't mean you can do what they can.
Luffy could knock Foxy out with a flick of his finger at this point but that doesn't mean he can use the Noro Noro no Mii and put people in slow motion, because that's a power only Foxy has. It's the exact same shit with Whitebeard, he's the only person with the power to cause quakes that can generate tsunami's, flip islands around etc etc
It's not a feat of raw strength, it doesn't scale, it's just a special power his fruit gave him. Luffy can't do that. At absolute best he could destroy an island, no freaking way is he PLANETARY holy crap.
And lastly.
We again, still don't know what Sengoku actually meant. We just recently learned that an island being destroyed caused the sea level to rise, the world of One Piece is incredibly weird. We have literally no freaking clue the ramifications of what Sengoku said, it's entirely possible and reasonable to assume Sengoku knows about some kind of fault line or some such that Whitebeard could mess up with his Gura Gura that would trigger a planet destroying chain reaction, which even then would probably only end up drowning most everyone on the surface, not actually blowing the planet up or anything.
Oda doesn't do powerscaling, he frequently makes fun of that kind of stuff, he would not casually throw in someone being able to destroy a planet like that. That's not how One Piece works, if Sengoku did indeed mean to imply Whitebeard could physically destroy the world then that means something specific. If you think otherwise then answer me this "How the hell do they know?" the world obviously hasn't been blown up before, how would anyone know that Whitebeard can destroy the whole planet? Makes no sense, he never displayed the kind of raw power necessary to do that. It's not Dragon Ball.
I just don't get powerscalers, are they just desperate to have their favourite characters be powerful? This might sound impossible but you don't win anything if you glaze your favourite character or series, sorry. It's crazy how much they reach just to come up with these massive misunderstandings. Whitebeards ability was specifically geared for huge AoE attacks that can disrupt entire landscapes, it's completely different to Luffy's. Can Luffy freeze an entire ocean because he could probably beat Kuzan? Or do we understand that Kuzan is the one with ice powers and thinking anyone else could do that is stupid?

You can not scale someone off anothers unique ability...because...they don't have that ability...

2024.06.07 20:42 aco319sig Temporary player character ideas (cleric)

So, my son DM's a 5e game, and occasionally invites me to play along as a temporary add-on character, essentially an NPC for specific missions. Last time it was as "Ahmed the Inconsistent", a merchant caravan master with a penchant for crisis-dependent price hikes. My ability to role-play the character, even if I'm not completely conversant with all the role changes since 3.5, means I add a bit of comedic content to what most of these kids is almost just a dice game.
This time, he needs a cleric, but with some very specific parameters. I'm trying to come up with a spell list.
Here's the backstory. This poor guy is in a bit of a jam. His mother was dying, and so he begged the gods to save her. The only one who answered was the goddess of cute and fuzzy animals (name to be determined). She agreed to heal his mom, if he became her cleric on the mortal plane. He agreed, but in some ways began to regret it.
For one, this guy was a bit of a con artist prior to his accepting the deal. Sadly, he wasn't quite on the top of his game when he was negotiating, nor did he have time to research the details of this particular goddess's paradigm. At first, he was ecstatic to learn of the powers he gained from being her only high cleric, capable of mental manipulation at near god-like levels. However, there were a couple inescapable caveats that spoiled his plans for self-enrichment.
A: He cannot cause direct physical harm to any living creature. This is a hard and fast rule. The goddess is the deity of cute and fuzzy things, and thinks everything is cute and fuzzy, even dragons. And can't stand the thought of harming anything directly. That being said, if his enemy is turned invisible and a horse drawn wagon fails to see him before running him over, that's just life, you know? It's a loophole the cleric figured out. Goddess is not pleased with it, but can't seem to find anything in her own rules to punish him for it, so usually will let it slide as long as it doesn't cause death.
B: He is not allowed to use his powers for self-benefit. He can't use his mind powers to convince people to give him money. He also can't use it for "self" defense, as that would "benefit him". He can use it to defend others, though, he just has to come up with some way to benefit himself indirectly.
C. He doesn't have great charisma. He never really had it before, and the goddess could see his greedy nature, which is why she placed the restrictions she did on her granted powers. This doesn't affect his ability to use those powers, as they are powers granted directly through prayer. If she catches him thinking about how it will benefit himself, she simply doesn't allow the spell to activate. But it means he has a hard time getting people to cooperate in his schemes.
So, as far as spell lists goes, I am thinking about the following:
  1. Spell of Clarity - Anti-alcohol/anti-hangover spell, clears toxins from the body.
  2. Spell of Inebriation - Opposite of Clarity
  3. Afflict Formication - ("FORM"-ication, not that other word. get your head out of the gutter.) Causes target to feel like they have ants crawling over their body. This often results in frantic clothing removal, unless there is a significant will save.
  4. Misdirection - Temporarily launches charisma through the roof. People automatically believe what he says. "The thief went that way, sir knight!" or "No, this guy's been right here with me the whole time". But again, the goddess will punish with karmic retaliation if he tries to use it for his own benefit, even at one remove.
Any other ideas you guys have?

2024.06.07 20:39 syntaxbad PSA: Greater affixes masterwork as if they are regular affixes

I'm sure there are youtube videos that go over this, but if you're like me, you can't stand looking for the answer to a very specific question and not being able to quickly find it in text form. So here's something I confirmed that is not intuitive and may help you make gear choices;
TL;DR - When you masterwork an item with one or more Greater Affixes, the greater affixes will improve with each level as if you had a normal max roll of that affix and will NOT factor in the 50%. Also the 5% bonuses are additive (meaning 15% at level 3 is just the base amount * 1.15. No compound interest sadly).
Full explanation - A greater affix is always the same starting value at 0 masterworking, eg. the max roll for that affix PLUS a 50% bonus on top. Where it gets unintuitive is when you start to masterwork the item. Most people (myself included before I did a little math and testing) likely assume "if I masterwork this ring with GA Intelligence (135) one time for a 5% bonus, I will get 141" (135*1.05, rounded down). What you get instead is 139.
Why? Because the masterwork "5% to all affixes" is not adding 5% of what you see on the ring (135 Int). It is adding 5% of the BASE affix roll (which for a greater affix will always be the max of the range), which in our example comes out to 4.5, rounded down to 4. That's the first unintuitive part. The second thing that might not be obvious, especially in a game that is famously about which bonuses are additive and which are multiplicative, is that the 5% per masterworking level is effectively additive. By this I mean that at, say, 3/12 masterworking, our GA Int ring will have 149 Int. This is because it is always adding 5% of the BASE max roll, ie. 90 for Int on a ring. Same goes for "critting" on the 4/8/12 upgrade. That affix will get a boost equal to 25% of the base max roll, so 22.5 for our Int ring.
Does this mean "OMG I read GAs don't matter, god is dead!1!!1" No. It means the math on what to expect from you items is pretty easy (other than skill ranks, but there's a great video on that you can find, that has a nice chart). Each upgrade will add exactly the same amount and it will always be 5% (rounded down, taking into account the previous fractions) of the max NORMAL roll of that affix. So basically, a GA should be thought of simply as a guaranteed max normal roll for the relevant affix plus a 1 time bonus equal to 50% of that max roll for the affix, The fact that it is a GA doesn't impact masterworking at all. It just means you have a perfect roll to start from and a nice flat 25% bonus as the cherry on top (assuming you like Maraschino Cherries on your sundae, I'm more of a peanut butter fudge man myself).
If you already knew this, please disregard. But I hope this is a post someone can find when they google "how does masterworking GAs work diablo 4 reddit". All the best searches have "reddit" at the end. It's like the Greater Affix of search terms.

2024.06.07 20:36 guillermo1996 Analysis - Best monsters to track for WGS drops

Introduction

tl;dr: stop tracking monsters with two WGS partbreak drops, they don't have an overall drop chance improvement. For 8* stars Great Girros and Tobi are the best options, and for 9* Barroth is definitely the best, followed by Pukei-Pukei.
Hi fellow hunters,
Ever since the introduction of the Monster Tracker mechanic, I have seen many posts discussing which monster should be the most optimal to focus for farming WGS. The most common names were Banbaro and Tzitzi, maybe even Diablos if you could manage to break both his horns. The pattern here is obvious, we naively believe that given that these monsters can give you two drops for the broken parts, they are probably the most relevant to do so. But, we humans don't usually have good intuitions regarding small probabilities. Thus, I decided to do a little research with public data to answer, with the knowledge we have as of now, which is the best monster to farm WGS with the tracker.

Goals

My goal was to complete the drop % provided my MHN-Lab by calculating the total chances of each monster dropping one or more WGS assuming you break all the parts that reward WGS. Given that some monsters don't have enough entries to provide confident results, I also aimed to calculate a "worse case scenario" percentage of WGS drop.

Results

All my results are presented in a public spreadsheet.
Most relevant sheet is "Results - Tracking monsters". A brief summary:

Methodology

All number of drops were manually extracted from MHN Lab. Don't forget to support them for providing such data to the community!
The probability of a WGS drop are calculated as Number of Drops / Number of Slayed, and it was performed for each of the 4 basic drops. The chances of partbreak drops are calculated as Number of Drops / Number of part breaks. However, the number of reports is key to understanding these probabilities,.
Let me explain, current data suggest that 1 in every 5 Coral Pukei-Pukei give a WGS in the first slot. We can all agree that Niantic is probably not that generous, and the one who reported the WGS simply got lucky. A naive interpretation would tell us that we should all focus on that 9* CPP for a 20% of WGS drop. However, We have to consider how confident we are about these results. And no, we are not confident at all about this result.
In the spreadsheet, I go into more details on how to obtain a 95% confidence interval for the probabilities obtained and present the results for a "worse case scenario" given the data we have available. Yet, some manual filters were applied to ignore monsters with low number of entries.
It is also important to mention that no correction was made to control for the "lucky bias" - that is, when a hunter is more likely to report a hunt if they obtained the drop they wanted (don't know how to properly call it).

Disclaimer

This is not a deep study of probabilities, confidence levels, bias correction and such. I simply aimed to answer "what monster should I track to maximize WGS drops". I was honestly surprised with my findings, and thought that it might be a good resource to share with the community.
I have a background in data analysis, but int he end, this is an afternoon project. Things could have been done better, no doubts about that, and my assumptions and decisions might not be the most suitable for this situation. I mean, by looking at the lower bound of a 95% CL range, I am clearly giving better results to the most common monsters (and that is reflected in my results), but I still believe that it is preferable to hunt monsters with secure drops, rather than to follow low confident results. I will gladly accept feedback to improve the study and please, correct me if I did something wrong. If interested in a copy of the spreadsheet, let me know, and I can publish the whole sheet for people to look at the formulas, don't know if anyone will be interested.
In any case, don't forget to visit MHN Lab, they provide an essential service to the community, and they deserve every bit of appreciation we can give them.
Hope you find this useful!

2024.06.07 20:36 Fyoss23 New rider worried about eating shit on Begode T4

Hey all. New EUC rider here. Just trying to quell my fears / get some answers potentially. Just started writing unicycles about a week and a half ago and I've been absolutely in love with it. It's just been totally great. I bought the Begode T4 Pro during this deal going on right now where they're only like $1,400 and thought everything was fine but have been seeing a lot of posts and comments on videos of people saying that the T4 will cut out at different speeds between like 25mph and the top speed without any beeping or tilt back? This is kind of freaking me out because I already went 36 mph on it last night thinking that I was still in a "safe" margin, but now wondering if I was actually dancing with death (or just pain and hospital visit). I just don't want it to turn off on me randomly without warning at 30mph or something, obviously. Is this issue likely? Does it even apply to the t4 pro or was it only an issue for earlier versions? I know the pro has better acceleration power than previous ones and I've heard overly torquing it could be the issue? I'm just not sure, I'm very new to this all.
Extra question: What what is the difference if any between the T4 Pro and the T4 V4, lol. Are they the same thing? I've seen some websites marketing them as separate but they look identical.

2024.06.07 20:36 FunnilyEnough7870 Is a Coastal Engineering bachelor's degree too specific?

Hey, everyone. I just finished my Junior year of high school and had a few questions about engineering degrees. Specifically, is Coastal Engineering too niche at the bachelor's level? Coastal engineering is what I want to do but I was wondering if a degree in it is too specific and if I should just go for the common Civil Engineering degree instead? My only worries with a coastal engineering b.s. are: 1. Very little info about the field online, so I'm going into it eyes wide shut and 2. It's not versatile so if there are limited job opportunities in coastal or something like that, I'm stuck and I pigeonholed myself.
Downside to civil engineering b.s.: The school that's 25mins away from me has a coastal engineering degree but no Civil degree. My parents specifically moved me and my sister down here to go to this school (they're grads and wanted to come back and we wanted to go to this school, at the time I was like 14). If I end up doing a Civil engineering degree, I'd need to move and go to a differenty school, which I don't want to do, to be honest, and, even though my sister would still be going to the school, I'd feel bad that we moved here and then I didn't get my degree from there. At the same time, if a civil engineering degree is a much better option, I will definitely consider it.
For anyone wondering, the school is UNCW. I also made a post similar to this a few months ago but the answers were all "UNCW's program isn't ABET accredited, don't do it!" I really appreciated this heads up so I contacted the program coordinater and they are in the final stages of it being accredited. It will be ABET accredited by the time I graduate (and probably before I even start) so no worries there!

2024.06.07 20:34 Banana_Tigerr What aspects go on what gear? (new to game)

Have only played Diablo 3 and this is my first season for D4. I'm going for this build: https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/guides/incinerate-sorcerer-leveling-build/ but I don't quite understand the aspects and gear mechanics. This guide seems to show what aspects you need to find, but doesn't tell you what to place them on except for the amulet as far as I can tell. Mobalytics is much more clear on this, but the build is quite different. Looking for answers. thanks

I periodically provide this chart to give people a sense of the level of activity in the community. We saw some nice growth in the month of May but things have been pretty quiet as we all wait to get more details on the progress at Ironton.
For those who are new to this community, welcome! I hope our long term members are able to help answer your questions. While the community is clearly focused on the performance of PureCycle, I think this is also a great place to follow government policies at the state and country level because that will ultimately be a huge driver for the amount of plastic recycling capacity that is deployed.

2024.06.07 20:32 ski-yan BIG4/industry in Poland

Hi everyone. I guess I'm supposed to use English but my question is about BIG4 (I just guess it's easier to get than industry) in Poland. So I'm going to move approx next year and most likely its one way ticket. I'm a Pole from Kazakhstan - My polish is decent but not perfect (English is better). The point is how am I gonna find myself looking for the job being from another country. I'm currently a 27yo audit SC. I started 3 yrs ago in big4 (pwc) but now it's not, the base and methodology is the same though.
So I'm trying to find someone who is ready to answer some of my questions in pm, or here in comments. Would be perfect to have a word from an hr but anyone else is fine.
Foreign diplomas - do they count if the knowledge itself will be obvious? How often do they hire foreigners from ex-ussr or they don't want to deal with them? Do you know such people?
How common do you use English in everyday work? For instance we use all the terms like ToD, EGA, PM, FSLI etc but the documentation is in Russian except disclosures for example. Is it common or ok to write/speak English between yourselves? In general on personal level how do you guys think would people and seniors accept it to work with not native speaker? Thanks in advance

2024.06.07 20:29 Wide_Entrepreneur928 Health & Happiness - My Journey With A Glioblastoma Diagnosis

Hi Everyone, later this month I will be 7 years out of my Glioblastoma diagnosis. I was 30 years old when I was diagnosed and am 37 years old now. Over the last 6+ years, I have been put in contact with many people battling the same diagnosis and decided to create a Word document titled "Health & Happiness", which details all of the things I have incorporated into my healing journey. Everyone is different and I am simply sharing what has worked for me. Neither me or my wife are in the medical field however we have spent a lot of time researching things to integrate into my day-to-day life which we believe are keeping me healthy. For the first 5 years of my journey I received MRI's every 8 weeks; now that I am more than 5 years out I get MRI's every 12 weeks. Below is a copy and paste of the document:
*Below there are some discount codes that I have not affiliation with and found them through IG or marketing emails and they might be outdated*

Dr. Mitchel Berger - UCSF
My Neuro Oncologist:
Dr. Timothy Cloughesy - UCLA
My Naturopathic Doctor:
· Christian Gonzalez, ND
o Check out his podcast, “Heal Thy Self” – This podcast has been life-changing for my wife and I. It has provided us with assurance about the path that we have been on to keep me healthy and has opened our eyes to so many things that we thought were “good” and “healthy” when in fact we were grossly misled to a technique called “Green Washing” that a lot of companies and products use in their marketing efforts.
· Below are two links where you can find a ND in your area.

Books and Documentaries:
· Radical Remission. This book was the first book I read when I was diagnosed and gave me knowledge and motivation to not look at my diagnosis as a death sentence. One of the most powerful cancer books I have read and I highly recommend it for anyone that has cancer or knows someone that has cancer. 😊

o https://www.huffpost.com/entry/how-your-thoughts-change-your-brain-cells-and-genes_b_9516176
· Eliminate as much stress as I possibly can from my everyday life
· Be present in my mind
· Yoga
· Spin
· Writing down 3 things that I am grateful for each night before bed
· Using Frankincense oil on my feet and pillow, every night, before bed
· Morning Routine: Body Scan Meditation, Drink a liter of water when you wake up (Your body is most dehydrated after a full night’s sleep), stretch or some type of quick 10 minute workout to get your body moving in the morning, “I Am” affirmations (I will usually do this right after I finish my morning stretching, I will typically say 5-10 things out loud to myself, for example (I am healthy, I am a loving husband, I am kind, etc…), statements of gratitude (I will mix this in with my “I Am” affirmations, for example, I am grateful for my bed, I am grateful for my home, I am grateful to have access to organic produce, etc…) I try to focus on this that I have in my life instead of things that I want, rubbing a 1-2 drops of any organic essential oil that you like in your hands in the morning and taking 4-5 deep breaths with your hands over your mouth and nose (this is very helpful in awakening your sensory functions), lastly, I listen to music when getting ready for work in the morning. Soft music in the morning taps into the creative side of your brain and research has shown that individuals that listen to soft music in the morning are more creative and productive throughout the day than those who don’t.
· Taking a walk every day to get fresh air and disconnect, normally with the dogs J
· Circuit Training
· Acupuncture / Energy Healing
· Energy Healer – Steve Montoya – Let me know if you would like his contact info. He travels all over the world healing people. He is in the LA/OC area once a quarter or so.
o https://ramonashealingjourney.wordpress.com/2015/11/04/you-shall-know-them-by-their-love/
· Keeping my body warm at all times. We learned from Traditional Chinese Medicine, that keeping the body warm protects the kidneys, which means all of the other organs can do their job and the body can heal. Also, just for example, when you have a fever, it’s your body’s way of protecting all of your vital organs so that they can do their job, as well as preventing any proliferation of bacteria and viruses.
o http://aprilcrowell.com/asian-medicine/warm-to-the-core/
· John of God – Brazil. Lauren’s cousin went down to visit him during the 4th quarter of 2018 and took a head shot of myself as well as a two-page letter sharing my story. He is a spiritual healer that helped a young man get to a state of meditation where his brain tumor shrunk to nothing. He sent back two bottles of Herbs (Ground Up Passion Flower Leaves – Actual Name: Passiflora) for me to take. There is a large portion about him in the book “Radical Remission” and he is featured in “Heal” as well.
· I brush my teeth with my less dominant hand once a day and then with my dominant hand the other two times.
o This helps stimulate parts of the brain that are not in use often. You can do this with many things, brushing your hair, using your less dominant foot in sports, washing your body with soap while showering.
· Drinking and eating out of glass vs. plastic. It’s having an effect on both men and women’s endocrine systems (hormones, fertility, etc…)
o https://www.plasticpollutioncoalition.org/pft/2017/7/26/new-endocrine-disrupting-chemicals-are-undermining-male-fertility
· This may sound like something so simple but it’s quite challenging: When moving/changing physical positions I am always present. For example, every time I sit, I tell myself I am sitting, every time I stand to walk, I tell myself I am standing. This helps me to bring my mind into a present state and focus less on the future or past.
o This was a recommendation during one of my guided meditations.
· Laughing, loving and hugging every day. This was a big take away for Lauren and I from reading the book Radical Remission. It’s important to laugh every day, love every day and receive and give hugs to people every day. I know, I know, it sounds crazy but it has worked on other folks, we practice it every day. We try to watch more comedies if we are going to watch a movie on the weekend, an easy way to incorporate laughter into your life.
· We recently added air purifiers into our home. I also have one in my office. We purchased the Molekule, but through research we found that the Air Doctor is another good option (and I believe also a little less expensive). Here is a discount code for $100 off a Molekule: MetroMD100
· IR Sauna (Infrared Saunas)
o These are great for detoxifying the body, especially after air travel. I go to Perspire (https://perspiresaunastudio.com/) here in Orange County.
· Epsom Salt Baths – Especially after air or any long car travel as well.
· Grounding/Earthing – Walk around barefoot on your backyard grass or anywhere there is a plot of “Earth”. Feel the grass between your toes or if you are at the beach, be aware of the sand between your toes. We are all energy and Earth contains energy, manifest the energy from the Earth into your body for increased healing, awareness, presence and mindfulness. I do this for about 10-15 minutes.
· Cold Showers (as cold as the shower can get) every morning and Ice Plunges. Look up the “Wim Hof Method”
o https://www.wimhofmethod.com/

Diet:
· For the past 6+ years we have followed a whole food plant-based diet (vegan without the junk food). Cancer cells feed off of Glucose (Sugar) firstly, but can also utilize glutamate as a second source of fuel (which is in all animal protein, land and sea). I have also cut out all artificial sugars from my diet. Dairy is also extremely inflammatory for your body and has been linked to cancer in many research studies.
· White Carbs and Gluten - We have eliminated these from our diet as much as we possibly can. Even for people who do not have a ‘gluten intolerance,’ gluten is very hard on the body’s digestive system. Excessive consumption can lead to a leaky gut, which causes toxins to seep out of the digestive tract into the body/blood making it hard for your immune system to work at its peak. Also, most gluten products have high levels of glyphosate, which they’ve linked to cancer. Glyphosate acts like an antibiotic to your gut (not in a good way), wiping out all of the beneficial gut flora which are there to keep your immune system working efficiently.
· Alkaline Foods and Water - Cancer cells cannot grow in an alkaline environment; we drink water with a PH level of 9.5. We recently invested in a Kangen water machine for our home. A level of 7 PH is balanced and anything below 7 is acidic. Cancer cells thrive in an acidic environment. Things that make your body acidic are alcohol, dairy, meat, processed and artificial sugars and gluten.
· I drink warm lemon water with apple cider vinegar every morning, which also helps alkalize the body and keep stomach acid levels at a great pH for food absorption.
· We practice intermittent fasting, which allows the body to not worry about processing food for a large portion of the day but rather allow its immune system to be working at its peak ability. We started out by only eating from 12 PM - 8 PM and are working toward 12 PM - 6 PM. Intermittent fasting is really important when taking Temodar (or any chemotherapy). It allows the body to protect the healthy cells while targeting cancer cells. There is so much research showing the benefits of intermittent fasting for cancer patients.
· This is a really interesting article citing a lot of different sources regarding a plant-based diet and fighting/preventing cancer:
o https://www.vivahealth.org.uk/veganhealth/dont-feed-cancer

Other Things to Research:
· Dr. Sebi – He is the doctor who put a full-page ad in the NY Post and was sued to take it down. When he went to his court hearing the judge asked him if he could prove that he healed anyone, and he furnished 70 patients of his that were healed by his treatment and the Judge declared “not guilty” on all the charges that were brought against him by the State of New York.
o The link below is a quick rundown of his life. I believe the pharmaceutical companies were heavily involved with his death in while he was imprisoned in Honduras.

· Radiation Stickers for your cell phone and laptop:
o https://www.amazon.com/Radiation-Protection-Labobbon-Household-Appliances/dp/B078SSD6QC
· We also try to use the ‘cleanest’ hygiene products we can find. There are many harmful chemicals in our everyday toothpastes, shampoos, deodorants, etc. Chemicals to avoid in hygiene products below:
o Shampoo – Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, basically any ‘sulfate,’ Parabens, Sodium Benzoate. Brands that we like are: 100% Pure, Acure, Alaffia
o Toothpaste – Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, basically any ‘sulfate’, fluoride, triclosan, DEA, Propylene Glycol, Microbeads. One of the worst toothpaste brands out there is Colgate. We use Himalaya Botanique & Nature’s Gate as well as Dr. Bronner’s All-In-One toothpaste.
o Deodorant – Aluminum, Parabens, Triclosan, DEA, Propylene Glycol. We have been testing out natural deodorants for years and our favorite (although not vegan) is from a company called Primally Pure. We’ve also started to use a brand called Joyous Organics with clean (and minimal) ingredients.
o A great website to reference for beauty product ingredients and their safety is https://www.ewg.org/
§ Skin Deep Database – This is where you will find clean products to put on your body.

· The Clean Fifteen and Dirty Dozen
o The EWG, each year, comes out with an updated list of produce that we should be buying organic 100% of the time (Dirty Dozen), especially people like you and I who have had cancer. The Clean fifteen can be purchased conventionally if you can’t find them in an organic form and conventional is the only option
o https://www.ewg.org/foodnews/clean-fifteen.php
o https://www.ewg.org/foodnews/dirty-dozen.php

· The link below is a good read on Monsanto’s Glyphosate and the timeline for removal in home use:
o https://www.ewg.org/news-insights/news-release/2021/07/bayer-end-residential-sales-cancer-causing-weedkiller-glyphosate?utm_source=newsletter&utm_campaign=202108News&utm_medium=email&emci=9a939839-bef6-eb11-b563-501ac57b8fa7&emdi=4d3bfe91-dbf7-eb11-b563-501ac57b8fa7&ceid=2210188
These are things that we have done and have found to be successful so far with my body, and hopefully, they are helpful for you as well. I have also included some images below that show how damaging the effects of Wi-Fi radiation (and all of the radiation coming from electronics) can be.

2024.06.07 20:29 Tru-Queer What level should I be facing Alduin at?

I know there’s no right or wrong answer but I’ve already gone through the College quest line and the Thieve’s Guild quest line (well, the majority of them), I’ve done a few Daedric quests, and I’m only level 35. I’m just about to meet up with Party Snacks on the top of the mountain and I’m wondering if I’m approaching the end game too quickly?
