Celebrating Raksha Bandhan with Silver Rakhi A Touch of Elegance and Tradition from Rakhi.com

2024.05.14 15:01 himanshukhatri704 Celebrating Raksha Bandhan with Silver Rakhi A Touch of Elegance and Tradition from Rakhi.com

Raksha Bandhan, a festival that celebrates the bond between brothers and sisters, is marked by the ritual of tying a Rakhi around the brother’s wrist. While Rakhis come in various designs and materials, Silver Rakhi holds a special place due to its elegance, durability, and traditional significance. Here’s everything you need to know about Silver Rakhi and why it makes an excellent choice for this auspicious occasion.
The Significance of Silver in Raksha Bandhan
Silver has been valued for centuries not only for its beauty but also for its symbolic meanings and health benefits. Here are a few reasons why Silver Rakhi is a meaningful choice:
  1. Symbol of Purity and Prosperity: Silver is considered a symbol of purity and is believed to bring prosperity and good luck. Tying a Silver Rakhi can be seen as a blessing for a prosperous future.
  2. Durability: Unlike other materials, silver is durable and can be kept as a cherished keepsake. A Silver Rakhi can be a lasting reminder of the bond shared between siblings.
  3. Health Benefits: Silver is known for its antimicrobial properties and is believed to have various health benefits, such as improving blood circulation and boosting immunity. Wearing a Silver Rakhi can thus be beneficial for health.
  4. Aesthetic Appeal: Silver Rakhis are elegant and timeless. Their shiny and sophisticated look can complement any attire, making them a versatile accessory.
Types of Silver Rakhis
  1. Traditional Silver Rakhi: These Rakhis feature classic designs often inspired by traditional motifs. They might include elements like Om, Swastika, or Ganesh symbols, which add a spiritual touch.
  2. Modern Silver Rakhi: For those who prefer contemporary styles, modern Silver Rakhis come in sleek designs with minimalistic patterns. They can feature geometric shapes, abstract designs, or personalized engravings.
  3. Silver Bracelet Rakhi: Combining the traditional Rakhi with a modern bracelet style, these can be worn even after the festival, serving as a piece of jewelry. They are both stylish and meaningful.
  4. Silver Rakhi with Gemstones: Adding gemstones to a Silver Rakhi enhances its beauty and introduces additional symbolism. Gemstones like emerald, ruby, or sapphire can be chosen based on the wearer’s preferences or astrological significance.
  5. Customized Silver Rakhi: Personalized Silver Rakhis with initials, names, or special messages engraved on them add a unique and sentimental touch. These Rakhis are perfect for creating a lasting memory.
How to Choose the Perfect Silver Rakhi
  1. Consider His Style: Think about your brother’s style and preferences. Does he like traditional designs, or does he prefer modern and sleek accessories? Choose a Silver Rakhi that matches his taste.
  2. Quality of Silver: Ensure that the Rakhi is made from genuine sterling silver (92.5% purity) for durability and quality. Look for hallmarks or certifications that guarantee its authenticity.
  3. Personal Touch: Adding a personal touch can make the Silver Rakhi even more special. Consider customizing it with his initials or a meaningful symbol.
  4. Packaging: Present the Rakhi in elegant packaging. A beautiful box or pouch can enhance the gift’s appeal and make the unwrapping experience more enjoyable.
Making Raksha Bandhan Special with Silver Rakhi
  1. Rituals and Traditions: Begin the Rakhi tying ceremony with traditional rituals. Light a diya, perform an aarti, apply tilak, and then tie the Silver Rakhi on your brother’s wrist, followed by exchanging sweets.
  2. Heartfelt Messages: Accompany the Rakhi with a heartfelt note or card. Express your love, gratitude, and the special bond you share with your brother.
  3. Thoughtful Gifts: Pair the Silver Rakhi with a thoughtful gift. It could be something he has been wanting, a book, a gadget, or a personalized item that holds sentimental value.
  4. Quality Time: Spend quality time together. Whether it’s sharing a meal, watching a movie, or reminiscing about childhood memories, the time spent together makes the celebration memorable.
  5. Virtual Celebration: If you are miles apart, celebrate virtually. Send the Silver Rakhi via post or courier and perform the rituals over a video call to keep the spirit of the festival alive.
Silver Rakhi from Rakhi.com is more than just a piece of jewelry; it’s a symbol of the deep bond and love shared between siblings. Its elegance, durability, and traditional significance make it a perfect choice for Raksha Bandhan. By choosing a Silver Rakhi, you not only honor the festival’s traditions but also create a lasting memory that your brother can cherish forever. This Raksha Bandhan, let the gleam of silver reflect the timeless bond you share with your brother, making the celebration truly special.

2024.05.14 13:21 vacillatingfox Do my dependencies go the wrong way in OOP composition?

Hi! First time posting here after being a reader for a while. Sadly ChatGPT and Copilot were not very helpful, so I'd appreciate any insights. Since I'm by no means an expert in Python, OOP, or design patterns, and this feels like a general conceptual issue rather than specific to my task, I thought I'd ask in a beginner's forum first.
I have written a Python package and am pretty happy with it. It works well and as intended, and I think it's really not bad considering my level of experience.
However, even though it all works, I'm not too happy about the structure of the code, as it goes against what my instinct says would be the right way to do things.
The package is very much written with OOP, and specifically tries to make use of composition as it makes absolute sense for the task. Given the requirements of the project, however, it was a challenge to make it work without circular imports, and in the result it feels to me like the dependencies go the wrong way.
A fairly minimal code example is below. The methods are silly examples that aren't the real ones, they just demonstrate what I need the classes to do.
Essentially, I have a main class `C` that should be composed of `C.a` and `C.b`, where `a` is a numeric type and `b` is an instance of `B`. Each instance of `B` that is created gets registered in an instance of `Container`.
"""c.py""" from container import container # Can't import `B` as that would be circular import and gives problems class C: """An object possessing a number and a B.""" # `b` must be an instance of `B` but can't give as type hint def __init__(self, a: int float, b): self.a = a self.b = b # `b` will always be an instance of `B` def __repr__(self): return (f"C({self.a}, {self.b})") def __str__(self): return f"{self.a}*{self.b}" def __mul__(self, other): # Can't import `B` so have to check if `other` is a `B` by duck-typing # Could implement behaviour of `C * B` in `B.__rmul__()` but doesn't # really solve the overarching problem if hasattr(other, "name") and hasattr(other, "as_C"): return C(self.a, self.b * other) else: return NotImplemented def __rmul__(self, other): if isinstance(other, (int, float)): new_a = other * self.a return C(new_a, self.b) def question(self): # Return a new `C` where its `b` has an added question mark # Since `self.b.question()` returns a `C` not a new `B`, # can't just do `C(self.a, self.b.question())` return self.a * self.b.question() def from_string(self, string): """Parse a string into an `a` and a `b` and return a new `C`.""" split_string = string.split() a = float(split_string[0]) possible_matches = container.find(split_string[1]) b = possible_matches[0] return C(a, b)c.py ################################## """b.py""" from c import C from container import container # Feels like both of the above should depend on `B`, not the other way round class B: """One of the key constituent elements of a `C`.""" def __init__(self, name: str): self.name = name container.add(name[:3], self) def __repr__(self): return (f"B('{self.name}')") def __str__(self): return def __mul__(self, other): if isinstance(other, B): new_name = self.name + "x" + other.name return B(new_name) def __rmul__(self, other): if isinstance(other, (int, float)): # This is key behaviour that is absolutely required because # it is the main API for the user to create a `C` return C(other, self) else: return NotImplemented def as_C(self): """Return an instance of C that has itself.""" # Indirectly creates an instance of `C` via `self.__rmul__()` # Could equally just use `C(1, self)` but this way has advantages return 1 * self def question(self): """Add a question mark to the name, then return an instance of C.""" new_B = B(self.name + "?") return 1 * new_B ################################## """container.py""" # Can't import `B` as that would be circular import and gives problems class Container: def add(self, code: str, b): """Add a `B` to the Container under the provided three-letter code.""" # Again `b` must be an instance of `B` but can't give as type hint # Make sure all codes are unique while hasattr(self, code): code = code[:-1] + chr(ord(code[-1]) + 1) # Naturally this results in a horrible namespace but it is just to # demonstrate the point, the real implementation is more sophisticated setattr(self, code, b) def find(self, search: str): """Return list of all `B`s whose name contains the search string, in alphabetical order of their codes.""" # Uses a much more complicated method to sort but key point is that the methods # of `Container` are also dependent on the implementation of `B` matched_codes = [code for code, b in self.__dict__.items() if search in b.name] sorted_matches = sorted(matched_codes) matches = [getattr(self, code) for code in sorted_matches] return matches container = Container()
I would have thought that for a composition approach, `c.py` should be importing `B`, partly for type hinting but mainly because `C` has methods that rely on `C.b` being a `B`.
Due to the further constraints described below, however, `b.py` is importing `C`! Am I right in feeling this is unorthodox and "wrong"?
Naturally, the duck-typing means that anything that implements the same methods as `B` could be passed to `C()`. But that just doesn't feel right.
And even though I got rid of a true circular import, `B` and `C` are still very much coupled and depend on each other. I already had a couple of bugs with endless loops due to each class referencing the other.
Or am I overthinking and actually this is all normal and ok?

What is the sort order in the chocobo exchange?
Broadly, the chocobo tend to follow alphabetic order of their rank in a Z pattern (left-to-rigt on top row, then left-to-right on bottom row). But not entirely, as in the above example, the B rank comes after the C. I presume they are sorting by other stat, one that broadly correlates with rank letter. Any idea which stat? Anecdotally, the B ranks I have bought in position 2 behind a C rank have been terrible, but that could just be chance.

2024.05.13 16:33 echos_in_the_wood How do you politely respond to a MIL who asks why you don’t wear the cheap ugly crap she buys you?

Last Mother’s Day she bought me a literal child sized bracelet and than laughed at me and loudly called me fat in a restaurant a month later on Father’s Day (I am not fat and this woman is twice my size anyway) when I said it was too small for me 🙄 She asked me why I wasn’t wearing it a month later like I am supposed to proudly adorn myself with her cheap crappy gifts like they’re my kid’s macaroni necklace
This isn’t even the first time she’s asked me why I don’t wear anything she buys. She’s been asking me this for years. She mostly buys me cheap perfume and I don’t wear perfume at all. The clothes she buys me are her style, not mine and lots of granny nightgowns for some reason 🤔 Keep in mind that this is the same woman who has made it known that she is trying to copy my wardrobe, bought a giant pile of clothes from Shein that look like knock offs of MY dresses in colors and patterns that I usually wear, asked my husband to buy her the exact dresses I have (he ignored her) but she suddenly has no idea what I like when it comes to buying gifts from me.
This Mother’s Day she gave me cheap earrings that match the child sized bracelet from last year. When we see her next month, I know she will ask me why I am not wearing them. I am normally someone who says thank you and moves on when someone buys me gifts. I am not used to being interrogated and insulted when I don’t use them. I think MIL uses gifts to control others in her family, which makes me actually want to just throw them out. I’ve been feeling like she’s been trying to control what I wear lately, since she’s made it known she wants to copy me and is jealous. What would you say to her when she asks?

2024.05.13 15:29 broken-lycan would you like a knotted bracelet of your rat(s)?

first of all: this is solely me gauging interest
I found this super cute rat bracelet pattern (https://friendship-bracelets.net/patterns/alpha/40901) and I want to make it. I don't have rats myself and tbh do I need this? Not really. But look at how cute it is!! (Further down on the page you can see examples of this bracelet others have made. it can be one rat, two rats facing each other, two rats following each other etc)
So basically my idea is this: if you're interested, send me a photo of your rattie(s) and I'll make this for you. I'm confident enough in my bracelet making skills to know that I can adjust the colours of the pattern, meaning your rat doesn't have to have the coat colour or pattern seen in the original pattern.
All I'd ask for anyone who wants this to cover shipping (I'm in central europe, so the closer you are, the cheaper it'll be). I might have to get some yarn colours and envelopes for this and I'm not exactly swimming in money. But I'll see.
I don't want this to be a for profit thing cause bracelet making is a hobby for me, it's something to keep my hands and part of my brain busy while I watch youtube videos.
Comment here if you'd be interested. Whether or not you are interested, please give your babies scritches from me 🥰

2024.05.13 15:08 Beneficial_Yak8859 My crazy Rich Delhi Women experience! It’s not for working class fs

I’m not originally from Delhi, but work brought me there for a stay. A friend (who is super rich- like generational wealth rich) invited me to experience the city’s high life, and what I encountered during that week was both captivating and unsettling.
Delhi’s elite circles are dominated by wealthy married individuals, particularly women in their 30s and 40s, 50s. These women live in a world of opulence—luxury cars, designer bags, shades, and clothes. Their lifestyle is the epitome of extravagance, while their husbands seem tethered to work, always on call or glued to their phones.
The women, on the other hand, revel in shopping sprees, leisurely trips to luxury malls, fine cafes, and night parties. When I mentioned my work, nobody seemed interested; it was as if the concept of labor for sustenance was alien to them. Their generational wealth shields them from the necessity of understanding or engaging in meaningful work.
Despite having an army of servants, these women were still expected to perform traditional domestic duties like cooking. There was also a strange competitiveness among them, evident in their constant one-upmanship over luxury items like diamond bracelets.
Their lives revolved around superficial indulgences—new clothes, cars, and jewelry. They bonded over superficial struggles and complaints, often boasting about who faced the most challenges in their loveless marriages and social circles.
Despite the external glitz, I felt a profound sense of not belonging. Many interactions revealed the shallowness of their personalities, especially in how they treated their household staff. They believed that being polite would make servants overly familiar or demanding.
Parenting responsibilities primarily fell on these women, with fathers rarely seen engaging with their children beyond lavish vacations. Poolside drinks substituted for meaningful family time.
Underneath the facade of wealth and status, there was an insatiable hunger for more.
There were weird pattern of showing off the cars and banglows and lifestyle but not hearing the complains of not being paid on time by servants. (Tbh I lost my patience here)
These women also come from well educated background but very frequently I have seen follow some guru, astrology and have regressive mindset of having boy as a kid ( according to them a business family must have a male heir) it’s very common. And it is shamelessly accepted in group setting.
Some of the pregnancies are easily altered like via sarogacy, abortion if you know what I mean.
This lifestyle intrigued me—it was fascinating how people’s treatment changed based on the car they stepped out of. The extraordinary politeness and special treatment were otherworldly, yet internally, they engaged in an imaginary competition to prove superiority.
The relationships were strained, with many husbands unfaithful yet tolerated for the sake of luxury. Despite their education, many women followed regressive beliefs, favoring male heirs and turning to gurus and astrology.
Some women ran fictitious fashion businesses to maintain an illusion of productivity. I found myself questioning the sanity of my hard work for bills, contrasting it with their seemingly effortless extravagance.
By the end of the week, I realized that every luxury comes with a hidden cost. While their lives gleamed with lavishness, beneath the palatial bungalows lay darker secrets and wars of which outsiders like me could only catch glimpses.
Have you encountered anything like that? Or you guys already knew this alternative reality of Delhi posh society??
EDIT: A lot of you have pointed out that my post seemed very shallow and that it doesn't accurately represent how all wealthy people live in Delhi. I apologize if my post came across as stereotyping all wealthy people in Delhi. (My experience certainly doesn't apply to every wealthy family in Delhi, obviously.) That wasn't my intention. In fact, my main intention was to highlight that the grass always looks greener on the other side. Wealth doesn't make someone automatically evil.
The rich have their own struggles and challenges, just like everyone else. As someone from the working class (I,me,myself) it’s easy to overlook their difficulties as shallow lives, but we all face different kinds of problems in life. While money might not be their main issue, wealthy people cetainly encounter their own unique challenges.
Many of you accused me of being 'Bihari' (which I am not, and it's irrelevant) and said things like "go back to where you came from" (even though I've mentioned I don't live in Delhi), or called me "jealous of the rich life" (which I was, before I encountered and realized the profound truth that the grass isn't always greener on the other side, and that's why I shared my experience—to help the working class understand the inevitable realities of life, whether rich or not). I find these comments contradictory, classist, and biased.
Additionally, a lot of grammar Nazis and ChatGPT warriors accused me of misusing the platform. As I mentioned, writing is part of my job. "PART of my JOB" should make it clear that I am not an author or an English major, so please excuse any spelling mistakes or odd vocabulary.
In addition to my apologies, I also want to extend my sympathies to those who shared their own struggles and experiences here. Thank you for your overwhelming response.

2024.05.13 12:09 Secure-Economist-266 Toy Story 3 Video Game Codes For PS3

Toy Story 3 Video Game Codes For PS3
I was unsure where to put this but I've found 4 codes that work on the PS3 version of Toy Story 3 (please not I haven't tested it on other consoles). Also please be aware I'm unsure if some codes are also region locked but these ones should work for Australia (and Europe maybe).
  1. The Knight's Game Pack which was released with other packs with the Walmart Editions of the game (also I don't know if any other packs also had a code). It cost 500 coins at Al's Toy Barn in Toy Box Mode, it has a knight costume for the human townsfolk that has a silver head piece with a red mohawk down the middle, its worth 40 funny points and 10 cool points. It also has a knight clothing that comes with a sword with chain amour and red cloth with the yellow sheriff star outline on top, it's with 50 funny points and 10 cool points. The alien townsfolk have a costume of a jousting knight with a plain knight helmet that covers only the top part of the head with a dome shape, its worth 10 cool points. There is also a jousting knight clothing that is white amour with a black and white spiral jousting pole, worth 10 cool points. It also comes with building customisation options: the first is a wall customisation a blue stone wall to match the medieval theme, a darker rich brown wooden trim for the excess of buildings, a dark rich brown wooden door with an iron frame and gold door hinges and gold door knocker hoop. Iron trimmed windows with gold slanted crossed lines as a pattern with black insides, a medieval shield and spear for the sides of buildings (one object but on both sides), medieval castle spire with a flag pole on top for the top of buildings, and for the yard: a King Arthur sword in a stone and a training dummy pillow with a target in the middle.
  2. The Gladiator, unlike what some people think which is that it would add a character that is a Gladiator Toy, it actually adds a gladiator costume for the townsfolk that are human. The hat is worth 10 scary and 10 cool points, it's appearance is Roman with a bronze metal material with a red hair clump sprouted from the middle. The clothing is a bronze chest plate with a bronze bracelet on each hand with brown sandals, the clothing is worth 10 scary points and 10 cool points.
  3. The Patriotic Hat and Big Band Hat, which is two hats for the human townsfolk. The Patriotic Hat adds an Uncle Sam based hat with it being a white top hat with a blue part down the bottom with white stars inside with the top part of the hat having vertical red lines down the side. It's worth 10 cute points, 10 funny points and 20 cool points.
The Big Band Hat is a orange marching band hat with a white feather stuck to the top. Its worth the same as the previous hat before of 10 cute points, 10 funny points and 20 cool points.
  1. Which is the only one that doesn't involve customisation is the 2000 coins in Toy Box Mode Code. Which isn't reusable and can only be used once.

2024.05.13 00:21 1NatSVV Help me find him?

Help me find him?
Oh man last night was crazy!! Long story short I want to find this guy and i don't know of a more wider platform (other than tiktok) to help maybe find this guy.
First of all my name is Natalie. I went to an INZO concert last night 5/11 fron 7p to 1:30a, and then after I went the the Wave Garden night club in the Queen Anne area. That's where I met Matthew.
I don't know much other information about him other than he was with a group probably, tall 5'10"+ slim/athletic, white guy, green eyes, black shirt and jeans, a few candy bracelets and wore a hat/beanie, was really kind to security staff and infectious smile. I don't remember much else because I was battling a headache
I was wearing my black crop top sweater and black "Headbanger" pants. I was the short latina when we first spotted each other in the hallway for the bathroom.
You started up a conversation with me about the guy in front of me and his patterned shirt.
When you, Matthew, last saw me you asked if you could give me a side hug before you left and you wanted to see me more during the night.
Sadly I left early because of the headache. I was still standing in the entrance area the last you saw me.
Well my hopes in making this post is that maybe we can connect again and maybe kind people will help us!
A pic of the event for tax.
P.S. I'll know it's you when you can tell me what you said when you pointed at the TV screen in the foyer when we were talking :3

[Recommendation Request] Looking to add some color
After my last purchase, I realized my collection is basically all stainless steel and/or black.
I think I’m partial to a green or turquoise/teal dial, and/or some interesting dial pattern like waves, linen, or honeycomb, but I’d be open to any suggestions.
36 to 40mm would be ideal, it must be at least somewhat water resistant, and I’d prefer something that comes with a bracelet but can easily be swapped with a leather or nato strap (so no PRX or the like).
Under $500 would be ideal and I’m okay with quartz, but would want to spend considerably less than that for one.
I like the Seiko SUR525, some of the offerings from Islander Watches, the Casios with teal dials (although I’ve read these look and feel cheap), the Brew Retrograph, some of the Vostok classics.
Thanks for any and all suggestions

2024.05.12 05:13 Snati_Snati [PI] You've slain the beast, but instead of payment the villagers kicked you out Enraged, you do what no mage has ever done: Resurrect a dragon.

I bite my lip until it bleeds, attempting to ground myself with physical pain.
Oh master! Forgive me for perverting the techniques you entrusted to me.
My shaking hand manages to snatch a teardrop from the air just in time. Even a single teardrop would ruin the complex Fulu talisman that I just completed. I attach the talisman above the entrance to the cave, joining the dozens of other talismans already in place. Taking a moment to study the brilliant red cinnabar ink, I mentally trace each brush stroke of every character. Every symbol stirs up memories of endless practice under my master’s critical gaze; harsh punishments for the smallest imperfections resulting in bitter complaints from an ungrateful student. A wry smile briefly dances across my lips.
Master, forgive the foolish youth I once was. That of which I complained most bitterly is precisely what gives me the skill and power that I now wield.
Those few disciples who mastered the techniques of our sect obtained the rare ability to destroy the very essence of monsters and demonic beings. There are many with the skill to lure such creatures away from a town. Fewer who can, temporarily, destroy the physical manifestation of such abominations. But only the secrets of our sect could permanently pacify such beasts instead of simply driving them away to trouble some new location. Our senior disciples are able to sense and control the spiritual essence of these creatures. This allows them to guide the harmful spirits back into the Earth, allowing them to find rest.
That is why my actions tonight are blasphemous. I’m twisting my master’s techniques to draw the spiritual essence of a dragon back from out of the Earth herself and then I will guide this spiritual core back into the corpse of the dragon entombed within this cave. Such an act has never been attempted! While the blasphemy of this plan hangs heavy on my conscience, I do feel proud at how clearly I was able to see how to adapt these techniques to this task and how quickly I was able to modify the traditional talismans to help bring this dragon back to life. I have no doubt that I will succeed.
As I enter the cave, I look back at the events that led me here. Over the past 16 years, I became rather well known for my skill in pacifying demonic beasts that troubled towns and trade routes. With this reputation, people were eager to share with me any stories or news of troublesome beasts. These were rarely firsthand accounts; usually they were exaggerated rumors heard from travelers visiting a local tavern. However, I learned to discern the kernels of truth that often lay buried within these tall tales. Recently, those who traded in fantastic stories were obsessed with stories of dragons. After some research, I found the common elements in these stories pointed to a dragon terrifying a remote valley on the other side of the kingdom. In our part of the world, dragons typically keep to themselves, so I was excited at the prospect of my first dragon pacification. I made a rapid journey across the kingdom, taking no time to stop and enjoy the cities and towns that I passed through. When I arrived at the edge of the kingdom, I set off on foot to explore the remote valleys while looking for any evidence of a dragon causing trouble. Within several days, my efforts bore fruit. At the outer edge of a remote settlement, I saw a large dragon sitting in a pasture. The dragon was eagerly devouring an entire herd of livestock.
Wanting to save as much of the livestock as possible, I quickly subdued the spiritual essence of the dragon and began guiding it into the earth. I was surprised at how easy it was to pacify the beast – the dragon didn’t fight back at all. Perhaps it was simply torpid after eating so much. The next stage, waiting for the dragon’s spirit to fully disperse, required a considerable amount of time. I was skilled enough that I could use this time to study the dragon’s corpse. Its scales were a beautiful mottled brown that matched the pattern of the bark on the trees near the edge of the clearing. I noticed that the dragon was adorned with bracelets around its forearms, legs, and even the base of its tail. Dragons, of course, have a reputation for enjoying fine jewelry, but these were all woven from leather or thread and the quality was quite poor with many obvious mistakes in the weaving. Rather peculiar, but I had certainly seen stranger things in my travels. These were likely tokens from humans the dragon had killed previously, the poor settlers in the area not owning any real jewelry. Eventually, the dragon’s essence was fully dispersed and I went in search of a cave in the nearby cliffs to use as a crypt for the dragon’s corpse. After the exhausting job of moving the dragon’s body, I walked to the village to share the good news.
It’s difficult to overstate how shocked I was at the villagers’ reaction to my news. Instead of the usual cheering and celebration there was only silence. The older children and younger teenagers, in particular, looked like they were about to cry. After a minute of awkward silence, the adults became angry! They started yelling at me, threatening me, making the most vile and horrid accusations. I simply couldn’t understand what was happening. Were these people all bewitched by some evil spirit? I tested the room as best I could in those chaotic circumstances, but found no evidence of possession or entrancement. The people were honestly angry with me!
Eventually, I got them to calm down enough so I could actually understand what they were yelling at me. They kept saying the dragon was friendly and considered a citizen of the village. I tried to explain that I caught the dragon devouring a farmer’s livestock. A farmer yelled something about a payment and keeping wolves away; I was rather distracted by the anger in his eyes and the pitchfork in his hand that he kept threatening me with. Eventually, the adults stopped yelling at me when several of the children approached. With tears in their eyes they told me about the friendship bracelets they made for their friend and how they looked forward to playing with the dragon every weekend. I still find it difficult to believe, but the children’s grief was so utterly sincere that I was finally convinced they were all telling the truth.
Once I understood how important the dragon was to this small community, my heart broke. They must have seen how much this realization affected me because they stopped yelling and threatening me. After more awkward silence, the elders said the village would prefer that I leave so they could mourn the loss of their friend in peace. I was escorted out of the town and the sheriff, with anger in his voice, asked me never to return. Apologies would do little to repair the harm that I had done, so I nodded and walked towards the mountains from whence I had come.
Never before have I been so angry! Never before have I felt such hatred of myself! I was enraged and full of a dangerous energy that threatened to overwhelm me. It took all of the discipline and training that I had ever learned to contain this anger and cool it down into something productive. I had to channel this energy and there was only one action that would give me release: I had to bring the dragon back to life.
The very thought of such blasphemy shook me to my core, but it was the only way to restore my honor. I had spent my life trying to help and protect the people in this kingdom. I never cared if it was a shack of the poorest old widow or a mansion of a great noble; my only goal was to bring peace and relief. Now, I had destroyed the peace of this village. Instead of relief, I brought them grief. I killed their friend and wounded the hearts of their children. The only way forward was to undo this terrible deed even if it went against everything my master taught me. I took a slow breath and waited for my thoughts to settle. I was now standing next to the massive muzzle of the beautiful forest dragon, the innocent dragon that I had killed. Wiping away the last of my tears, I began the process of searching for the dragon’s spiritual essence.

Machine Learning Helps to Discover Sperm Whale 'Alphabet'
Researchers at MIT CSAIL and Project CETI have unlocked new insights into how sperm whales communicate, thanks to machine learning.

Details:
  • The study reveals that sperm whales' codas, the short bursts of clicks that they use to communicate, vary significantly based on context, showing a more intricate communication system than previously thought.
  • The teams deployed machine learning solutions to analyze a dataset of 8,719 sperm whale codas.
  • The researchers identified something of a “sperm whale phonetic alphabet,” where various elements that researchers call “rhythm,” “tempo,” “rubato,” and “ornamentation” interplay to form a vast array of distinguishable codas.
  • This suggests a rare non-human example of 'duality of patterning' like human language
While much is still unknown, the findings hint at an intriguing complexity in whale communication. Moving forward, researchers hope to explore the communication of other whales like humpbacks.

Styling advice
(I’m more of a Reddit lurker than I am poster, forgive me if the format is off)
I am not the most fashion forward bride, nor do I have a creative eye for what goes well with what. (For reference I am about 5’7 & 125lb with 32D ish chest)
Looking for suggestions on..
1- undergarments. I dont love the way my chest looks. I’ll be going for alterations very soon. The fabric around my neck and arms will need to be taken in a little .. if she takes in the top will that provide me more support ? If not what sort of bra should I look for to wear to the alteration? I’m trying to avoid boob tape as I have sensitive skin and prefer to be as low maintenance & comfortable as possible.
2- veil. Any suggestions on length or embellishment ? Should i try and match the lace pattern or go for a simple plain design since there is so much lace ? I’m planning on some sort of half up half down hairstyle. I plan on getting the botton clasps removed and changed to a zipper or more invisible clamps as I find the buttons too bulky.
3- jewlery. I’m obviously not going to need a necklace (I think??) my arms are very long & thin & pale .. would bracelets draw attention to that or ?
4- train. I’d prefer to be able to walk around as easy as possible. Would getting rid of some of the train here be doable/look okay ?
Any and all styling suggestions would be greatly appreciated !!
