Thankfully, I was not injured, but my truck was totaled. I fought for months with insurance, as this was a supercharged Tacoma (not common) and had aftermarket modifications— I was able to be compensated "ok" for the value of the truck, but was not able to make a direct replacement due to the rarity of that vehicle. I spent at least 2 hours a day working on the project for ~3 months, I also had to borrow my dad's vehicle because my rental coverage ran out long before the claim was resolved.
My thoughts are that I can ask for what the pricing would be to rent an F250 from a rental agency, in addition to my time (2 hours a day @ $50 an hour), totaling around $150/ day until I was finally able to purchase a new vehicle.
I can't really express how challenging and upsetting it was to go through this process— tears every day, trying not to yell at random claims people, compromising on the vehicle I was able to get. I used my truck for everything and had owned it for 10 years, and was hoping to have it much, much longer. I know it sounds silly but that thing was an extension of myself— when I saw the damage, my knees buckled. I'm sure these aren't really great details when it comes to legal stuff, but I'm super upset about what happened, it wasn't my fault, I'd like some compensation for the nonsense I had to go through because someone chose to get blasted and drive home.

Afterthoughts
Small haul for a small bonus today. I put together that part of the haul last night, and once I saw the $5 / 10 bonus, I completely forgot to check every other app, haha. Technically a slight profit loss meeting my IB bonus today, but that's okay because I'm making progress towards my bigger bonus. If I were to prorate that bonus, that'd be an extra $4.52, so it's definitely worth it.My Beneful finally stopped resetting, unfortunately. Hopefully the Mac a Roni and butter keep resetting. I was going to get a couple other things too just to work towards my big bonus, but my store was out. I'll be going out of town later this week, so maybe I'll get lucky and find some good deals at stores that aren't around here.
Time Spent
I glanced at IB last night for like 5-10 minutes. I was planning to finish planning the haul today, but I didn't need to find any more deals. I was in the store for 50 minutes today, which included my regular shopping as well as browsing through the plants and clearance aisles.Food From Deals
Here's an idea: Mix up a white cheddar Mac a Roni, with your choice of ham, sausage, chicken, pork, or one of the vegan meat alternatives. Add a little soy sauce, and some green peas if you wish. You could even add some extra butter and milk (or plant based milk) to make it a bit creamier. Serve with a slice of buttered toast or some Jasmine Rice. Perhaps make a little Banana bread for dessert. Recently I’ve been experiencing a random rough idle. It could happen when I’m not moving, or when I’m going slow, under 1500 rpm. It seems to be completely random, sometimes it’ll happen at the start of a drive or in the middle or the end. Other times it won’t happen at all or be perfectly fine after doing it at the start/middle.
I’ve used an OBDeleven to look at codes and there was misfires in all 4 cylinders but I replaced the camshaft position sensor and those codes went away and the tool doesn’t show any more misfires, even though it was just doing it yesterday. The only code showing up is a coolant fan issue

 | Love this van. As you can tell, the Braun conversion required a generous lift kit so the floor could be dropped nearly 12 inches. The van retains a 5" ground clearance unloaded, and it also has a very neat hydraulic kneeling feature where the passenger side back end kneels down to reduce the ramp incline. This van certainly looks cool already, more akin to a sporty SUV than the ol "Mommy Van" of years gone by. But the glaring disparity is clearly how small the wheels look. We went with the FWD model because it was already readily available from our local mobility dealer, and would have been more of a wait to order in a conversion on the AWD model. Our previous 2016 Dodge Journey AWD (not my vehicle, so not accessible) had recently had the AWD kick out, and it was going to be over $13,000 to repair, so we were a bit gun-shy about getting another AWD. My model also has the tire patch kit, rather than the spare tire compartment. I did think about getting the spare tire compartment installed, afterwards but then I started daydreaming about bigger wheels, because honestly if I got a flat tire, this beauty is getting towed as I can't change a tire, obviously. I wouldn't try to put my driver to the task either. I don't care about specialty size tires or rims, just something to give it a better, more uniform look. Plus if I need to replace a tire or rim, I want it to be affordable and easily available. But I wouldn't say no to a more aggressive tread, and would also be needing excellent winter tires for our harsh climate. My mother-in-law is 70 years old, based in California and was out of the loop on finances the past 10 years or more. They both primarily lived off of social security but he was doing some private contractor work for a few years delivering medical stuff for a courier service. I recall him saying, “I’ll need to do a tax write off for all this gasoline I’m using” because it was all done in his personal vehicle.
Fast forward to 2024 and he has now passed away. It’s been a month since his passing and we have received a bill from FTB saying that he owes $28,000 total in taxes for years 2016-2019. Nearly $6,000 of that is interest.
My mother-in-law cannot locate the deed or any other form of a will etc. but she did recently refinance the home. The home was built by his father and gifted to him before they were married.
We do not know if she is on the deed but she is on the mortgage.
I suppose in the back of my mind what I keep wondering, is there any hope in proving that she was unaware of his financial shenanigans/spousal abuse?
He owes over $400,000 on the home, part of which is a HELOC she has no memory signing off on.
She has no savings, no pension, nothing.
Debt collectors are coming out of the woodwork. It’s not too bad. $1,000 or less most of them.
We cannot find out if he has a life insurance policy or not.
She only receives $1,700 a month from SS, and works at a non-profit making $2,600 a month take home.
My wife and I are ready to step in and help her with the mortgage but currently the home is red tagged and not livable. It has serious mold issues and will need $15,000-$40,000 in repairs.
Selling the home is not an option due to its value of being built by my wife’s grandfather.
She has not filed taxes since 2015 either since they are married filing jointly.
What should we do?
