So like a month ago I went to one of my relatives house to talk to a guy about my career (he's NIT graduate, data scientist) and I was having a normal conversation with him about jee, universities, how's ai gonna affect the job market for software engineers etc etc and then those relatives said "now we gonna ask you questions" and they started asking formulas from previous classes like "tell me the formula for electric potential which you studied in class 10th" and I said "I don't need to remember those formulas" and then asked me more formula questions from previous classes which I don't remember OBVIOUSLY and some class 11th stuff (11th somewhat wasted in jee prep/depression, my fault) and then they asked "okay tell how plants make food" and I was like "what the fuck" and I told them a really detailed explanation(I like science generally) and they replied “do you know it’s a 6th class question haha” and I was like "yeah I know bitch" sort of mocking me again.

I am a medical student. I borrow student loans from the federal government. I have a budget/spreadsheet that I use to track and predict all of my expenses. Everything is done monthly like Row 3 in this chart. I would like to start with a given balance of say $10,000 as shown in A1. I then want to use a formula like what is shown in A2 to show what my total balance is at the end of each month. Since these are simple student loans, I am estimating it by adding 1/12th of the annual interest rate (5%) to the principal. The next month, I want to be able to use this total in A2 to start with the principal amount and plug it into the next formula (B2). The problem is that B2 uses an amount from A2 which means that I am basically calculating compound interest, which is not accurate. I am grossly overestimating how much interest I will pay.
Due to the way my spreadsheet is seat up, I would like to keep this format, but I would like to be able to multiply each cell/interest rate by a factor to correct it. Is that even remotely possible? For instance, for my current spreadsheet (not the sample below), I calculate that I am overestimating by interest by a factor of nearly 2x. I would thus just divide my interest by 2 to get a more accurate number.

If the signed version SOLD OUT, will it restock??
  • Sometimes they do a quick restock with cancelled orders but they are usually gone very quickly. Consider checking back every so often.
The website I went to only has a "Random" version option for the album. Can I pick which version I want?
  • Not usually. Most sites at least on the Korean side like Withmuu and places are usually pretty good at giving you 1 of each if you order one of each version. They tend to "try" to give you an even amount of each version if you bulk buy. For Target they were bad about giving you duplicate albums for Formula of Love so order at your own risk if you buy multiple copies. Can always go to the store and try to exchange if you get duplicates.

We’ve sleep trained in the sense that we can out LO in his crib around bedtime (615/45) and he will fall asleep independently. However we’re looking into switching from bottles to more of a “sippy cup” transition style bottle for night time feeds. Our little one still wants milk in the middle of the night, even though he’s eating solids during the day and we’re supplementing on top of that with formula. He’s off the charts for percentiles, so at this point I think the middle of the night feed is out of habit and not true hunger. Do any of you use a transitional bottle in the middle of the night and just give it to them in their crib without supervision? Or, if you’ve night weaned from formula, how did you do it? This is the last piece of “sleep training” we are missing, and the middle of the night wakes are sucking my energy. Thanks!!
For reference his weekend schedule is: 615/45pm: bedtime 1am - 3am: waking up + bottle sometime between 1am-3am (usually 15 mins max, and right back to sleep) 530am/6am wake

I'm sick and tired of my family with their advices and input. I'm a FTM and youngest in the family. Soooooo they treating me like idk how to raise a baby. I have a sister who have 2 kid and she kinda followed the old way of raising the kids. I don't have much memory of how she raised her kids but I did help take care both of them in bathing, changing, feeding and playing.
Their remark on me keeping my baby on a schedule for nap and bedtime is me not wanting to watch the baby becuz when they had babies their bedtime was like 10pm. As for my baby, bedtime is no later than 7:45pm. Then keep saying I'm forcing the baby to nap 3 time a day is too much and that wake window is not real. This really put me off saying I don't want to watch my baby cuz I let them sleep early or nap too much. What the different if she wake up early anyway for me to care for.
Then my baby is on the smaller size and their treating me like I'm not feeding the baby. She 6.5month now and have started on solid. I try to feed baby around 2 meals a day and their expecting 3-4 meals. I also do 25-30oz of formula for baby. Stating I'm not seasoning baby food, when salt is not recommended for baby. I see wat I give and do is an appropriate amount with what is recommended.
Nagging me on how I dress baby. It texas heat! Why would I put baby in 3 layer? With hat, sock, and mittens. Why expecting to give baby a pacifier if she don't want it and sleep without needing help from us or it.
I'm a person who take advice from doctors and I believe in science about baby. So whenever I explain them why I do something for baby becuz they ask. They think I'm being a snob and trying to say I think I raise baby better than their. I have never state that but I'm starting to feel it.
Why is it so wrong to them the way I raise my kid just becuz I believe in science and research on recommendations for baby.

This is my first time posting in reddit, I really don't know who to talk to about this because I'm scared of being told to that Im dramatic lmao. I was mainly going to ask for advice but I feel like I'd rant more than actually ask for help haha. My grammar is bad btw. (edit : after I finished writing this, I was right that I ended up ranting instead lol. don't mind me, I feel like I just needed to get this off my chest and my notes doesnt really help with it)
So a little background about me. I'm someone who had been considered "gifted" ever since I was young. According to my teachers, I tend to learn quicker than my peers and requires little to no effort in doing so. I also have a weird way of doing math which is basically just shortcuts but the end result is always right anyway so my teacher would just end up accepting it but warns me to use proper formula during exams. I also like watching those what if science vids, so my mind is really packed with useless stocked knowledge that comes handy when the lesson is somehow related to the things I know. Overall, I'm considered smart for basically not trying at all in school. It changed during 6th grade though, I experienced many deaths among loved ones during those year and it really messed up my health. It also doesn't help that for some reason my father blamed me for my younger sister's death, atleast that's how I remember it. I became top student to "alitaptap" real quick. It really damaged my pride yk lmao, I won't deny that I took pride on how I'm smarter than my peers at class (I know there are other people more smarter than me but in my class, I know that most of them are slow) I think it's the way I'm raised but the fact that Im aware of it, means that I should work on my attitude and all.
Anyways, I tried my best to regain myself in highschool, it all went well til 10th grade which is the current grade I'm in. It feels like everytime I'm close to graduation, shits always happen to me, I dont know if this is some kind of obstacle that I need to tackle but it really frustrates me and I know it's a me problem but I can't help but feel unmotivated. My parents seperated at the start od 10th grade. I had no time to process things and I have to look after my younger siblings too cause both of my parents refuse to be in the same room together which makes it harder for us, their kids. I wasn't in honor students at 3rd quarter and I'm already scared for 4th quarter. I feel like I won't make it and I'm self pitying myself again. I really wanted to be in STEM and I passed my entrance exam to a school I wanted, but I'm already overthinking that I would not be accepted because of my low grades in my last year of highschool.
I just want to cry at this point but that wont help with anything. I really hate myself for being easily affected ; so when my mom and dad would fight, I will lose motivation in whatever I'm doing and it can go on for days. I shouldve just stayed at grandma's during my 10th grade to ensure that I wont be bothered at all but I dont want to leave my siblings in that situation alone. I really feel shitty and like, being the first born, it feels like theres alot of pressure. My mom kept on reminding me too what happened to my aunt (my aunt is the first born among 5 siblings, really smart but ended up the worst during her highschool and college years because of family circumstances)
It wouldve been more comforting to cry this all out to my friends but I don't want to traumadump on them or smt, especially since one of my friends are in honors too and know my situation. I dont want her to feel guilty when its not really her business and frankly, she wont be able to help me since I refuse to cheat my way though homeworks and quizzes.

PASHINYAN: Democracy has indeed become a reality in Armenia. Before the 2018 Velvet Revolution, massive electoral frauds were the usual companion of elections in Armenia. There was no trust among the citizens that there was a real chance for them to elect the government.
Now the situation is totally different; citizens know that they are powerful enough to decide. The two general elections that were held in Armenia after the Velvet Revolution have been acknowledged as democratic, free, and competitive both by the Armenian society and the international community.
Armenia made huge progress in strengthening the democratic institutions, an achievement reflected in reputable democracy indexes:
(a) Now we are the 43rd in the Reporters Without Borders’ Freedom of Speech index, compared to 79th place in 2017.
(b) Categorized as having partially free internet in 2017 by Freedom House, now we enjoy the status of a country with free internet.
(c) In Transparency International’s Corruption Perception Index, Armenia is now 62nd instead of 107th in 2017.
(d) In the Economist Intelligence Unit’s democracy index we are 84th compared to 111th in 2017.
In order to assess this progress, it's essential to note that alongside democratic reforms, Armenia has been contending with external security challenges: the 44-day war in Nagorno-Karabakh, Azerbaijan's invasion of Armenia in 2021 and 2022 and the occupation of over 200 km2 amid inaction by [Russia's] CSTO, the forced displacement of over 100,000 Armenians from Nagorno-Karabakh, have cast doubts among Armenian citizens weather democracy is the right choice. PASHINYAN: I would not like to comment on the internal situation of our neighboring countries. Democracy fully corresponds to the mentality of our people. What is our strategic point of view, how are we going to guarantee the security of our country? Recently, I gave a speech in our parliament, where I said that the most important tool for ensuring security is a foreign policy based on legitimacy. This is the reason why we so often speak about the 1991 Almaty Declaration.
It is very important that during the 2022 Prague meeting, two very important agreements were reached. Armenia and Azerbaijan recognize each other's territorial integrity and sovereignty on the basis of the Almaty Declaration and will use it as the basis for the border demarcation. This is the reason why I said that we are not drawing a new border, we just need to reproduce the existing one on the ground. This process is happening right now, and I hope that we will continue it steadfastly.
REPORTER: The border conflict that has occurred in recent years has had a negative impact on relations with Russia and Russia's role for Armenia. What would you say about this?
PASHINYAN: Armenia is a member of CSTO. We are officially a CSTO member, but I have announced that we have frozen our participation.
REPORTER: So are you still a member or...?
PASHINYAN: It is a matter for further discussion, but it is very important to record the current situation. A crisis arose in our relations after Azerbaijani troops invaded Armenia, and according to CSTO procedures, the Organization and its member states had to support Armenia in this situation. But even after the formal application, the CSTO refused to take any concrete steps, and in fact, that is the main reason for freezing our participation in the CSTO at all levels.
REPORTER: Do you expect the West to occupy the current vacuum and ensure your security?
PASHINYAN: We are diversifying our foreign relations in all spheres. Now we are developing defense cooperation with India, France, and other countries. We have a certain cooperation with the European Union because as I mentioned, we are happy about the deployment of the EU Civilian Observation Mission on the border. It is a civilian mission but in a way, it is a new factor for the security of our region. This is the first time that the European Union participates in the security agenda of Armenia.
REPORTER: Would you like to become an EU member?
PASHINYAN: We are waiting for the EU's decision to include Armenia in the European Peace Facility. We also hope to start visa liberalization negotiations, and last year I announced in the European Parliament that Armenia is ready to be as close to the European Union as the European Union deems it possible. This is our position.
REPORTER: Can you elaborate on what initiatives Armenia is taking in the fight against corruption?
PASHINYAN: We have made huge progress but have not eradicated corruption from Armenia. We must continue to be persistent in the agenda of democratic reforms. This is the reason why cooperation with the European Union is of utmost importance for us because today the European Union is our main partner in the implementation of our democratic reform agenda. We hope that the European Union, as well as the USA, will increase their support to Armenia in the implementation of democratic reforms, because, as I said, democracy is a strategy for us.
By the way, in 2019 we started a Strategic Dialogue with the USA, and today we see the strengthening of our cooperation with the European Union. We recently had a tripartite meeting with the participation of the USA, EU, and Armenia. It was an unprecedented format, where we adopted a huge agenda of institutional and economic reforms. It is also very important that we receive more tangible support from the EU and the US to address the humanitarian needs of the Nagorno Karabakh refugees because it is a very sensitive and emotional issue for us.
REPORTER: In which year would you like Armenia to become a member of the EU?
PASHINYAN: This year [as soon as possible]. //
Pashinyan met Anders Fogh Rasmussen. The latter emphasized the importance of the “Crossroads of Peace” project in the context of unblocking the regional infrastructure.
Pashinyan discussed various topics with the PM of Denmark. The latter accepted his invitation to visit Armenia.

former regime continues to hold protests and briefly shut down roads in Yerevan with demands for PM Pashinyan's resignation

Dozens of participants were detained and released the same day for blocking roads. The detentions decreased from 170 on Monday to ~63 on Tuesday. They want Pashinyan to resign or to be impeached. A felony investigation was launched after a police vehicle, "with the sirens on", struck a reporter on the street. Yesterday the protest co-organizer Archbishop Bagrat Galstanyan said he received a report suggesting that the Deputy Rector of Yerevan State University supposedly urged deans and others to retaliate against students who joined the protests. Galstanyan said he was unsure whether the report was true, but decided to read it out loud anyway. On Tuesday he rallied his supporters to the backyard of the University where he demanded to speak with the Deputy Rector for clarification.
The Deputy Rector went downstairs and greeted Galstanyan, who shook her hand but wouldn't let it go for an uncomfortably long period, prompting her to ask him to let go of her hand. The Deputy Rector declared that whatever Galstanyan read about her was a defamatory lie.
GALSTANYAN: I never believed it myself.
DEPUTY RECTOR: Then you should not have said out loud something you did not believe.
GALSTANYAN: Listen, there is a recorded fact...
DEPUTY RECTOR: Where is that "recorded fact"?

A statement released by the defense ministry denies media reports that CoGS LtGen Edward Asryan is a dual citizen of Russia. His wife is an ethnic Russian with Armenian citizenship and his kids are dual citizens, but Asryan only has citizenship in Armenia. Georgia passes controversial ‘foreign agents’ bill despite widespread opposition

The law will require organizations receiving more than 20% of their funding from abroad to register as “agents of foreign influence” or face crippling fines.
The bill will be sent to the President who is expected to veto it, but her veto is expected to be overruled by the parliamentary majority later.
Georgian PM Kobakhidze had an "honest conversation" with U.S. deputy foreign minister James O'Brien, telling him that the Georgian government is interested in deepening the partnership with the U.S., "which requires mutual efforts and relations based on fairness."
James O'Brien demanded to speak with the manager - Bidza Ivanishvili. The latter refused to meet O'Brien, saying he won't hold any meetings under "blackmail".
The White House said the U.S. will review its relations with Georgia if the bill becomes law.

Hey parents. I have my third child who is 1m old. I have two other littles so this is my third rodeo with the frequent check ups early on and the aggressive tracking of weight and curves. Both of my other kids were high percentile upon being born (70s) and by 3 months dropped into the 30 percentiles.
My third is still going strong in the 70s but I am predicting she is going to follow suit and do the same thing.
I transferred to our current practice right before our second was born. My first and her old pediatrician never really made a huge deal out of her not tracking on her curve. Baby was healthy, and happy, and since I was feeding on demand and listening to hunger cues her doctor was fine. She suggested I could start solids a little early, but wasn’t aggressive about supplementing.
Our new pediatrician is sort of the opposite. When our second child started to drop percentiles she wanted to intervene, so we started supplementing. Used up our breast milk reserve and then moved to formula. However, here’s the catch. His percentiles NEVER went up. They always stayed in the 30s, even when we transitioned to formula exclusively and solids around 9 months (I got pregnant with our third)
Right before we started supplementing our pediatrician said one of two things could be the case 1. Not enough calories = supplement (assumed my supply was dropping despite getting 3oz every feed when pumping) 2. He is falling into his unique spot on the curve, this happens around the 3 month mark
When we returned for a weight check after beginning to supplement, he had remained in a similar range (not dropping tremendously but still dropped a few points). She concluded that our supplementing was preventing him from continuing to drop on the curve.
I am trying to make sense of this because my instinct is to believe he really didn’t need to be supplemented and I don’t want to intervene with supplementing if this happens again if it really isn’t necessary. I have a breastmilk stash (major over supply the first couple weeks) to go if it comes down to it. I am also happy to do whatever baby needs. My hesitation is baby was happy, making lots of diapers etc. and it seemed like a decision based solely on the chart.
Just looking for others insights if anyone has experienced this. I don’t want to deny baby what she needs but in hindsight I stressed myself out over that boys weight gain because of the doctor and the curves. I just want to enjoy my baby and not go mad over this.

2024.05.14 22:54 Free-Selection-3454 Observations after changing schools. Is it just me?

Hi all,This year I moved to a new school after 7 years in a previous school (Catholic college - primary and secondary). I left due to 2 colleagues I once admired, respected, enjoyed working with and called friends either bullying, excluding and/or undermining me in front of my students and theirs across the whole school year.Moved to a new school (Catholic and systemtic) and am finding many of their ways of operating very foreign, adding to my work and time and am constantly frustrated by lack of consistency, lack of standards and zero acknowledgement of my noticeable student progression and improvement since my arrival.
A few factors that are frustrating and aggravating:
-Apart from myself and one other staff member, ALL other staff (teachers, Teacher Assistants, the Deputy, office admin, specialists) are ALL part-time in the primary campus. In and of itself this is not a problem, however it leads to a lack of consistency and stability for me as I am constantly playing catch-up due to the rotating nature of the year-level team. It affects student behaviour (not so much mine, but the other classes) due to no consistency with teachers. Seems to be a high level of rotating teahers on LSL (short stints) and staff on and off from parental leave. No staff nmeeting I have been to yet has had all staff there.
-Behaviour of students is atrocious when compared to other schools in the area and previous schools from my decade + experience. Students are verbally rude, cannot settle and focus and there are often physical altercations in the playground. I've spent a term and a half really breaking down behaviour expectations, routines and standards. I am making progress, but there is so much stacked against us.
-Parent copmmunity is INTENSE. Moreso than I have ever experienced. Teachers are consistently told their "tone"when talking to parents is rude/negative/insert critique here, parents are constantly emailing teachers to complain about other children and flat out ignoring any and all comunication about their own child. When I asked leadership about this, the reasoning given is either, "Parents at this school have always been like this" or "It's the culture of the area. We get families from all over"meaning the greater metropolitan area. I persoinally do not think this argument holds up as previous schools I've been at have accepted students from relatively large areas in terms of distance.
-EVERYTHING is done as a team." While this sounds great on the face of it, it adds so much to personal workloads when reporting, individual lesson planning, unit planning, NCCD work, resouirce development and/or sourcing, sending emails to parents, responding to emails from parents and more all has to be done as a committee of 7 people. Nothing gets done efficiently or within a desired timeframe.
-Classes - For each year level (double-stream), we routinely mix and match students. Not just for programs (e.g. Spelling) but for ALL subjects and curriculum areas. This means that in theory, I have a class of 31 (e.g. my roll call list), however in any given lesson I could be receiving students from the next-door class. Sometimes the classes stay the same (students) but we (teachers) swap. This makes assessing and reporting a nightmare, as it is unproductive, inefficient and there is no consistency.The reason for this has nothing to do with student learning, outcomes or development. It occurs "to stop parents complaining about which teacher they do/do not get for their child," "to stop parents emailing and complaining about if child x or y is in their child's class."It also means that due to the way the "team-teaching" works, I will never teach certain subjects (e.g. Science or Geography) this year. I have been given subjects the other teachers on Year 5 do not want: Religion, History for example
-Students miss out on opportunities for growth, e.g. in Science as we need to fill out risk assessments for items like using the school oval outside of lunch times and for simple, basic Science experiments (e.g. mixing two liquids - liquids that are not hot, cold). EVERY science experiment of any category needs a risk assessment.I came in so excited about subjects like Science... no more. Can't take the class outside for a brain break as we'd have to book the oval and fill out a risk assessment.
-Class sizes are 31+ and the school has a high volume of EAL and students with various diagnoses. In a class of 31, 20+ are either EAL and/or have a diagnosis (e.g. autism, ADHD, etc)-Zero autonomy. I have to go through 3 supervisors just to respond to a parent email (even if it is wholly positive), I am told what kind of visual aid posters I can/can't have in my room (e.g. a times table chart or a poster on English contractions).
-Release time a joke. I have to sit in my class cupboard as this is the only place in the school that is:--Free of gossiping staff--Free of staff talking in general--The only place staff and/or students will not interrupt me.-Staff are friendly (cheerfully greeting/seeing how my day is/was, seeming interested in me as a person and educator) but there is so much gossip about each other and parents/families. I could go to a staff member with a purely work-related question (e.g. planning or how a school process works) and the conversation almost always ends up being twisted to a poorly behaved student/complaining/gossiping. Even after I have point blank made it clear I do not engage in gossip and find it fractures teams/colleagues and do not have the time for it.
-Multiple duties each day of the week (as we are únderstaffed'' - same as every other school in Australia)-Duty roster (playground) changes every single week due to the high volume of absent staff, staff with multiple roles, etc So no stability or consistency there either.-Foced to pay money into a school social club each week for amenities (e.g. milk/coffee/biscuits) which I never use in a staffroom I never visit or for gifts of departing/retiring/staff going on parental leave.... Yet every time a staff member fits these categories, we get emails from leaders asking if we would like to choose to put towards a gift.... so unsure why I was told the social club goes to gifts. Tried getting out of it in writing (I pay more being one of the few full-time staff) only to be told, "In your contract, you signed that you will be paying money into the social club." Nothing in my contract at all, and I asked the state union to have a look just in case I am blind and having a man's look. They too clearly stated there is nothing in there.
My question is, after 7 years in a school I enjoyed (apart from the aforementioned 2 colleagues changing how they interact with me) is this the norm in Australian Catholic schools (primary and/or combined primary/secondary colleges). I used to be so effective, productive and built strong and positive student relationships. I am now ineffective, unproductive, my time and experience is wasted and my experience seems to be for naught.
*Is this the new normal?
*Is anyone else so utterly heartbroken, soul-crushed and demoralised (and I guess, angry and frustrated) by red tape/inefficiency/unproductiveness, etc?

So I've been reading some Jung trying to get a handle my place in Christianity and the idea of faith. I came across this chapter in one of Jung's Works "Collected Works - 18 The Symbolic Life" in the section "XII Psychology and Religion: Why Am I Not A Catholic."
Jung writes:
Firstly: Because I am a practical Christian to whom love and justice to his brother mean more than dogmatic speculations about whose ultimate truth or untruth no human being can ever have certain knowledge. The relation to my brother and the unity of the true “catholic” Christendom is to me infinitely more important than “justification by fide sola.” As a Christian I have to share the burden of my brother’s wrongness, and that is most heavy when I do not know whether in the end he is not more right than I. I hold it to be immoral, in any case entirely unchristian, to put my brother in the wrong (i.e., to call him fool, ass, spiteful, obdurate, etc.) simply because I suppose myself to be in possession of the absolute truth. Every totalitarian claim gradually isolates itself because it excludes so many people as “defectors, lost, fallen, apostate, heretic,” and so forth. The totalitarian maneuvers himself into a corner, no matter how large his original following. I hold all confessionalism to be completely unchristian.
Secondly: Because I am a doctor. If I possessed the absolute truth I could do nothing further than to press into my patient’s hand a book of devotion or confessional guidance, just what is no longer of any help to him. Christianity possesses a , good tidings from God, but no textbook of a dogma with claim to totality. Therefore it is hard to understand why God should never have sent more than one message. Christian modesty in any case strictly forbids assuming that God did not send in other languages, not just in Greek, to other nations. If we think otherwise our thinking is in the deepest sense unchristian. The Christian—my idea of Christian—knows no curse formulas; indeed he does not even sanction the curse put on the innocent fig-tree by the rabbi Jesus, nor does he lend his ear to the missionary Paul of Tarsus when he forbids cursing to the Christian and then he himself curses the next moment.
Thirdly: Because I am a man of science. The Catholic doctrine, as you present it to me so splendidly, is familiar to me to that extent. I am convinced of its “truth” in so far as it formulates determinable psychological facts, and thus far I accept this truth without further ado. But where I lack such empirical psychological foundations it does not help me in the least to believe in anything beyond them, for that would not compensate for my missing knowledge; nor could I ever surrender to the self-delusion of knowing something where I merely believe. I am now nearly seventy years old, but the charisma of belief has never arisen in me. Perhaps I am too overweening, too conceited; perhaps you are right in thinking that the cosmos circles around the God Jung. But in any case I have never succeeded in thinking that what I believe, feel, think, and understand is the only and final truth and that I enjoy the unspeakable privilege of God-likeness by being the possessor of the sole truth. You see that, although I can estimate the charisma of faith and its blessedness, the acceptance of “faith” is impossible for me because it says nothing to me.
You will naturally remonstrate that, after all, I talk about “God.” I do this with the same right as humanity has from the beginning equated the numinous effects of certain psychological facts with an unknown primal cause called God. This cause is beyond my understanding, and therefore I can say nothing further about it except that I am convinced of the existence of such a cause, and indeed with the same logic by which one may conclude from the disturbance of a planet’s course the existence of a yet unknown heavenly body. Here's the deal.
There's a lot of chatter about the return of meme stocks and I'm sure you've all seen GME and AMC charts from today. Fucking rockets... but lets talk about meme projects and why I think there is going to be a brand new set of meme millionaires born from the meme action we're seeing today. (I'll save you some time if you don't feel like reading... they'll all be in KENDU).
As you all know, back in the good ol' days of 2021 when we were all face humping masks and rotting in our houses, some real fun was had and a lot of "New Money" millionaires were born. Some of these were from meme stocks, but a lot of people made fat bags on meme projects which they carry with them to this day.
First in Jan/Feb $DOG E pumped. Following this, $SHIB ($KENDU's Chad in Arms) pumped. These projects lost a bit off the top, but have sustained multi-billion dollar market caps to this day. But could they have done it on their own? Was this all just coincidence? Were market conditions so different that these pumps were just a factor of people being stuck at home with nothing better to do than sit there, thumb in ass, trading memes? Science says NAY!!
Please bear in mind that I'm wearing a helmet, which might have restricted some of the blood flow to my brain. This is NFA and you should DYOR... but I'm all in.
To prove my point, I am referencing the paper "The connectedness between meme tokens, meme stocks, and other asset classes: Evidence from a quantile connectedness approach" by Yousaf et al. from 2022. Please note that I only have access to the pre-print, so the peer-reviewed edition might be a little different, but I would muster a guess, not really.
These authors are using data from 2020-2022, which includes data outside of the range of what I would consider the "hard" meme squeeze (Jan. 2021 and the few months following). Given the analysis from this paper was done using data from August 2020 to April 2021, I posit that the conclusions the authors draw, can and will apply to meme events outside of the infamous 2021 meme run which some might say is the primary reason meme projects squoze. The HUGE meme project runs we saw in SHIB and DOG E might have been born of the "Funny Money" era, but lock-down degeneracy isn't the end all when predicting price movements.
The meat
"Why, Butt?" I hear you ask. "Why do you bring this paper up?". Surely it can't be because you wanted to "prove" that meme projects can run outside of the golden age of meme pumps? Well dear Redditor... yes and no. I bring it up also because of the interesting point it mentions about how predictive certain market events are for similar market events in other assets.
To do this, the authors use Quantile Connectedness (QC) to analyze Meme stocks, Meme projects, and some more traditional asset classes like USD, Treasuries and Gold. QC is a concept used in economics to measure the degree of interdependence (how connected things are) among different segments of financial markets. The method uses some fancy stats and math to do so, and the analysis done in this paper says some interesting things about the interplay between traditional assets, meme assets and meme pumps (summarized in the following screen grab).

Memes go brrrrrr... other things do too

So... market events in the upper extreme quantile (or in laymen terms, extreme upwards market movements) in meme assets tend to cause spillover events into both meme assets and traditional financial assets. That's interesting... You know what we saw today? An extreme upward market movement. Specifically GME and AMC, which are both up over 100% (in after hours) from previous close.
Second, and perhaps more of a bull case for me... the spillover events are even more well predicted by movement in meme stocks than they are by movement in BTC (please see the useful red circle in the screen-grab below). Higher number = better prediction of spillover event. So, SO often, I hear people predicting runs in the smaller meme projects based strictly on what BTC is expected to do. But it turns out, there's an even better predictor!!! Meme stocks!
Please also note: The authors state "All meme assets are highly positively skewed, which reflects their price surges during short squeezing periods." Pretty sure this means, green begets more green for these spillover events.
The spillover effects from extreme moves in GME, AMC, and BTC as they relate to DOG E and SHIB.

All this brings me to my last point. What does this all mean for meme projects and for $KENDU?
I hear you thinking "Why not just choose SHIB or DOG E, Butt?" and I get it... safe bets that will for sure "moon". Yes... "moon" :eye roll:
These projects are fine and good if you want to just grow the bags you've been holding and just keep, HODLing... but I know the real reason you all are playing meme projects, and it's that sweet, sweet alpha. You don't want to see the 2x, or 3x that these bigger memes might fetch during the next run. You're looking to eat zeros... and the only way to do that is to get in early with a project that is going to FUCKING RUN!
Enter KENDU INU... it's the project that "Can do"
Arguably, the most important fundamental for a meme project is the hype that it generates and how infectious its energy is. Well, you're not going to find a more hype community with a more infectious can do attitude than the KENDU community. Ignoring the fluffy feel good stuff though (NO DON'T DO THAT), what does this project really have going for it. I'm glad you asked.
