Just as the title states, my PC seems to turn randomly while gaming. I first noticed this when playing Helldivers II and would always occur right when a 40 minute mission would end and transition back to HQ. Figured this may be some weird optimization messing with my computer but when playing Manor Lords, it seems to be shutting off at random intervals. This doesn't seem to occur with other games I've been playing recently as well such as My Time at Sandrock, Diablo IV, and Valorant. So this seems likely to be some spike hitting a security threshold and, as a safety measure, shutting everything off, right?
Well, this seems very likely to be a failing PSU not delivering enough power. So I bought a brand new PSU to replace this one and all the cables associated. Note that I've been using the PC for maybe 4 years with the current configuration without issue until recently, so no new hardware changes have occurred. After changing the PSU out, the issue persists. I checked Event View which indicated some issues but I cleared these all up and now I'm not getting any more errors but again the issue persists.
I've deleted and re-added all new drivers. Ensured Windows is most up to date. I ran tests with HWi and I'm not seeing anything that looks like overheating. Logs showing up to the point of the crash show a core temp hovering around 43C and GPU shows 85C, which is more on the warmer end but I don't think its really at a breaking point.
I ran Heaven Benchmark with no issues averaging the same temps. I ran Cinebench with no issues. I'm reviewed many forums facing the same issue but am at a loss of what it could be.

Hey handy folks. I’m replacing 1400 sf of approximately 40 yr old decking. Sounds simple enough until you discover 70+ percent of the screws will not turn out. Either heads strip, heads snap off or they just spin in place. Want to remove as quickly as possible and am not concerned about salvaging material. Leaning toward using an angle grinder to cut off heads, remove board then cut off remaining screw still in joist. Thoughts/ideas? Much appreciated

Clarinha has been buried at Maruípe Municipal Cemetery today, May 14th, at 1:45 PM. Her funeral was attended by hospital staff who took care of her. Coronel Jorge Potratz, the doctor who watched over her during these last 24 years stated "It is a great relief to close this chapter, allow her spirit to rest properly. The cycle is closing, but her story remains open." He placed a white rose in her hands before the casket was closed.
She'll have a tombstone with her picture, the name "Clarinha" and a bible verse that still has not been choosen.
My write-up on the case:
Okay, so it's my first write-up here. I had always wondered why Jane/John doe cases were so famous in English speaking countries, while here in Brazil lots of unindentified people pass away everyday and no one bats an eye. We don't even have a name like "Jane doe" for those people, I think.
Well, there's a notorious case of an unindentified woman who passed away recently that caught my attention. On June 12th, 2000, a woman who had been hit by a car was brought to São Lucas State Hospital in Vitória, Espírito Santo state. It was lovers' day in Brazil (our version of Valentine's) and she was a white woman who didn't have any form of identification on her. I wish I could find more details on the incident, but I can't. She was rescued by an ambulance and was uncouncious when she got to the hospital, and spent the next 24 years that way.
It was noted she had a c-section scar, which meant she had had at least one child, but no one ever came to look for her. They tried to identify her so she could receive some sort of pension, but they weren't able to. On the next year, she was transfered to the Military Police Hospital and has been there ever since, under the care of Dr. Jorge Potratz, and has been named Clarinha by hospital staff. Dr. Jorge had been taking care of her as if she's his own daughter, paying for personal care items for her with his own money. Besides that, Brazil's Unified Health System allowed her to be hospitlized for the past 24 years without anyone having to pay for her healthcare. She didn't need any kind of life support besides a feed tube due to problems in swallowing caused by the accident. A doctor noted that in the scale for comas, which goes up to 15, she's around 7 or 8.
On 2016, TV show Fantástico did a segment about her, which brought the attention to the case. Several missing people families came from all over the country to check on her, but it was no success. A woman from Minas Gerais state thought she could be her missing sister. Her sister left the town of Ipanema on 1999 stating she was going to sell clothes. She left all her documents and 2 kids behind. It wasn't her.
They tried to take her fingerprints, but since her hands remained closed as a result of the accident, her fingertips got all roughed up and they were unable to get a clear print. Norma, a nurse who took care of her, said she called the name of a missing person who was thought to be her and Clarinha opened her eyes for a moment, the article doesn't specifies but I think it was proven it wasn't her.
Clarinha passed away on March 14th, 2024 after sufferig bronchoaspiration (no idea of what it is). They think she was around 40 or 50 years old. The police compared her DNA and figerprints to 12 missing people cases and found no match. Dr. Jorge Potratz took care of all the legal requirements for her to not be buried as an unindentified person.
Personal comments I have regarding the case:

• They did collect her DNA and probably still have it. Yeah, genetic geneology could help solve the case, but it's not that common here in Brazil due to being extremely expensive.
• She was buried, which means her body can still be exumed if needed.
  
• She was not on life support, the only medical care she needed was being fed through a feeding tube, which was probably how she ended up dying. "Turning off life support" would mean letting her slowly starve to death.
  
• In one of the G1 articles I posted down here, there's a picture of her with her eyes open. They're brown.
  
• Yeah, she could be foreign, as well as she could be Brazilian. There's the human trafficking theory going around and I wanted to note that this kind of thing happens a lot in Brazil, people are trafficked from one state to another, she could very well be one of those cases, although I think someone would have said something at this point. I
  
• "Imagine the cost of keeping her alive for that long!!!!" Free healthcare, don't worry about that. Really.
  
• Maybe some international attention would help solving this, that's why I'm making this update post.

I just saw a vent post in another sub about some person going back to their birth religion after some trauma they suffered because they missed the feeling of community and wanted to make friends, but they were shamed for being a victim of assault and said they were sinners for, well, having been abused. That's fucking disgusting.
Thing is, I started scrolling through comments and they're a male. The poster is a man and their religion is Islam. And having been part of a very conservative religion from birth to when I turned 20, I got really confused to why would someone feel the need to go back to their religion (a very misogynistic, homophobic religion) after having gone through abuse, and reading that they're a man explained everything! Men are almost never oppressed in any major religion.
It made me so mad that this guy was surprised and hurt (understandably, of course) because of course! Men will always have a huge advantage in religions! For instance, men don't have to cover up in Islam like women do. Men own their bodies in Islam while women don't. Same happened to me and that's why it hits so close to home. When I was religious it could be 40 C° outside but I couldn't even wear capris, go barefoot or wear a low neckline. I would NEVER think of going back to a religion after trauma because I know that since I am a woman I will be oppressed and blamed for everything. Men won't go through that ever and that's why this man has always felt a sense of community and protection, which is so far from what most Islamic women would experience.
Once again, what this guy went through is awful, unfair and gross. I really wanted to write this down but I'd never play down someone's trauma. I just needed to vent.

have an eve light switch 3rd generation in a 4 way setup. Eve at one end, dumb 4-way switch in middle and dumb 3-way switch at other end.

but there are 2 issues

1. the status LED does not go on (yes, in the eve app it is set to on when light is on)
2. Home and Eve apps detect light status unreliable and turning on and off on the phone is unreliable

For context, I visit Anaheim a few times a year for 2-3 days each -- sometimes alone, sometimes with others -- and have been to Walt Disney World a handful of times (mostly for a single day while visiting my in-laws in the Orlando area).

Atmosphere:
Disneyland Paris is widely regarded as the most beautiful of the castle parks, and I agree. The attention to detail is stunning, from the horticulture to the rock work to the stained glass in the castle. The land transitions are smooth and beautifully executed, and the park generally feels more deliberately planned (probably since it wasn't built in a year and haphazardly swapping parts for the next seventy, like DLCA).
The park is bigger than Anaheim's, probably close to Magic Kingdom size, so add a minute or two to your commute time when crossing from one end to the other.
Some can't-miss experiences and details unique to DLP (skipping the rides since I'll cover those next, but including walk-throughs):
MAIN STREET

• The arcades on either side. Don't miss either of them! I enjoy the Discovery side with steampunk visions of cities in the future.
• If you can tour Walt's, do: the salons are themed by original lands and are charming. The home goods store named after Lily also has some nice turn-of-the-century fixtures and creative interior design.

FANTASYLAND

• The dragon. I mean, it's a dragon under the castle that snorts smoke!
• Shop interiors, especially Snow White and the Merlin shop. The beanstalk was closed when I was there, sadly.
• Cinderella's glass carriage near the Auberge.
• Sleeping Beauty's Castle. Do the walk-through. Eyvind Earle would be proud. The rectangular topiaries are a nice touch.
• The Alice in Wonderland labyrinth! Charming surprises, a true dead end, and a climb to a super neat park view in the center.

ADVENTURELAND

• The marketplace and Aladdin cave. Reminiscent of the Morocco pavilion at Epcot (sadly, I haven't been to Morocco). The restaurant has a very cool lived-in market look if you can take a peek inside. Even the windows have faux Maltese balconies/muxrabija and hanging wares.
• Adventure Isle. It's basically their version of Tom Sawyer's Island, so you can clamber through caves, look through Skull Rock, run around a pirate ship, and generally pretend you're eight. Genuinely photo-worthy.

FRONTIERLAND

• Peek into their version of the Golden Horseshoe. It may not be a replica of Calamity Jane's, like ours, but it's handsome and bigger.
• Phantom Manor's horticultural and exterior design. There's just more space for cool themed plants, and the queue design gives you time to admire them.

DISCOVERYLAND

• Steampunk everything! This is where we got our Astro-Orbiter and our short-lived, ill-fated redesign from the late 90s. It looks way better on them.
• The submarine walk through is really fun. Not sure how much it resembles the original walk-through from 50s Disneyland, but it's a low-key and visually rich treat, especially when it's sunny out.

Rides:
Some comparisons and contrasts. Didn't ride everything (e.g. carousel, teacups, Autopia), so I'll just share notes on the ones I did.
Big Thunder: Best version I've been on, period. It's on an island, so you plunge in and out of the darkness to get there, and the seats are actually divided so you're not body-slamming the person next to you every time you careen around a corner. Don't sleep on the detail and theming! Only bummer: no goat trick.
Pirates: Great queue: caves and little sneak peeks into scenes. Caribbean themed instead of bayou, restaurant included. Different structure and order of scenes, and frankly sort of confusing (e.g. Jack Sparrow is on the treasure pile among the skeleton tableaux for his little monologue). The sword fighting scene is unique to DLP (I think).
Fantasyland dark rides: Pinocchio is almost exactly the same as in CA. Snow White is more like the pre-COVID version, but even creepier; it's definitely the most divergent from the current CA version. Peter Pan is close to its CA version, but feels slightly larger?
Small World: More granular Europe, cute America section, generally quite different in layout. White-clad finale is a fair with a Ferris wheel and such.
Haunted Mansion/Phantom Manor: Identical ride track and Doom Buggies, but totally different storyline and different tableaux, particularly at the finale, which is a Western town instead of a graveyard. They don't put scrims in front of the frontier town zombies, which makes them creepier somehow. It's a unique take and a must-do.
Space Mountain: This one blows ours out of the water. Catapult launch, several inversions, much faster and darker. Be aware they don't have pouches for your stuff and will instruct you to put it on the floor. I stepped on the strap of my bag because I was certain I was gonna lose it.
Star Tours: Identical, though one time I got narration in English and the other time in French. May be randomized?
Railroad: No primeval world but they do have their own Grand Canyon. Circle tour is a must; you cover completely different ground and get a great pano of the whole park. My train was in compartments rather than long cars.
Indiana Jones: This is not the Jeep tour by any stretch; it's an outdoor roller coster that rattled my teeth out of my head. Think an extreme version of Goofy's Sky School with the unbanked turns. KEEP YOUR HEAD BACK. And even then, don't be surprised if you get off with sore ears and a buzzy headache that last a few minutes.
Food and Drinks:
I talked extensively about this in my other post, so I'll just note a couple of comparisons.

• Alcohol is more widely available in the Paris park, akin to DCA. Your best bet is wine or a kir (or a beer, if you prefer) unless you're at a place with a dedicated cocktail menu.
• The little stalls across from Small World serve things like ham and gruyère sandwiches and gauffres and sweets, with beer and wine available. Meh by Paris standards, but decent snacks that you wouldn't find in Anaheim.
• Unique themed dining. Captain Jack's has sub-par food, but if you're a fan of the Blue Bayou, it may be worth it just for the Caribbean nighttime theming. Boats floating by, and a more defined/secluded space than the sea of tables at BB. (Who goes to BB for the food anyway?) Agrabah restaurant has the most divergent theming and food from anything you can get in DLR.

General info/advice:
I have a lot of good news for Californians, because Paris is a cakewalk in comparison. I'm sure I hit a slower period, but it's so easy to go with the flow without playing nine-dimensional chess on your phone every three minutes.

• Stay at a hotel on campus! The great news is that the hotels, parks and shops are after security, so you won't have to leave the bubble for your whole trip. Say goodbye to waiting in line for bag check behind one billion strollers every morning. If you're staying in the DLH (covered in my other post), you basically roll out of bed and through the turnstiles.
• Early entry was EMPTY, and since it was 8:30 instead of 7-7:30, it felt downright luxurious. Hit those Fantasyland rides like they're going out of style. I hit Peter Pan twice before 8:40. That one does fill up later and skipping the line costs an absurd amount of money, so morning is your best bet. Not everything is open for extra magic hour, though, so do check your map.
• The park is significantly bigger and you're going to do a lot of walking. It's not as easy to jump from point to point in rapid succession as in our little jewel of a park. Plan accordingly.
• That said, take the time to really slow down and enjoy your surroundings. No need to travel halfway across the world just to bang out a bunch of rides. It's fun to check out the beautifully executed transitions (John Hench would be proud). There's even a list of horticultural treasures within the app.
• Express pass is way easier than Genie Plus. I don't recommend getting the full day; the one day I did it, I failed to break even on what I would have spent skipping the line for individual rides. Get it for the rides you want if the line looks too steep for you. They're generally valid either immediately or within 5 minutes.

I have an eve light switch 3rd generation in a 4 way setup. Eve at one end, dumb 4-way switch in middle and dumb 3-way switch at other end.
the switch and the others work perfectly when using the physical switch
but there are 2 issues

1. the status LED does not go on (yes, in the eve app it is set to on when light is on)
   
2. Home and Eve apps detect light status unreliable and turning on and off on the phone is unreliable

Residents voted in favor of a non-binding resolution to create a shared fire district with Charlemont, to use a portion of town land on Pond Road for park and recreational purposes, and to change the town clerk position from elected to appointed during Monday’s Annual Town Meeting.
Roughly 25 residents gathered at Rowe Elementary School for a roughly one-hour-long Annual Town Meeting that followed a three-article Special Town Meeting.
Residents approved most of the 27 warrant articles, including the town’s roughly $5.29 million fiscal year 2025 budget (Article 7), unanimously without discussion. Residents also approved a residential property tax increase from $5.01 per $1,000 valuation to $5.29 per $1,000 valuation while the town completes the second year of a $1.85 million road resurfacing project.
Article 21, which asked voters to designate an approximately 2-acre wooded parcel of town-owned on Pond Road for park purposes, inspired discussion, with some residents suggesting the land be left as it is, or approved for park purposes under the condition that the town add language protecting residents’ right to hunt on the land.
Resident Fred Williams said since the parcel was set up to be designated parkland in accordance with the “Percy Brown covenant,” or the use restrictions established for the Pelham Lake Park land donated to the town by Percy Brown, hunting would likely not be permitted there.
“There’s one in the language either in the deed or the language of the vote in the Town Meeting has ‘parcels acquired for park purposes,’” Williams explained. “If the sentiment is strong enough [we can] change the wording to allow hunting on this little 2-acre parcel.”
Residents voted to strike references to the covenant from Article 21 before passing it unanimously.
Voters later passed Article 24 unanimously, allowing the town to pursue a shared fire district with the town of Charlemont and to establish a district-wide Prudential Committee to expend the funds approved by district meetings.
According to a statement provided by the Rowe Fire Department, the district would help the two towns combine firefighting equipment and staffing resources to provide better mutual aid services. Rowe Fire also noted that the district’s creation would take about four years after the article’s passage.
“These changes are going to require a huge increase in administration time, record keeping, modifications to current stations, medical physicals for responders, certification for firefighters and officers along with what we are currently burdened with,” the Fire Department stated.
After discussion, residents also passed Articles 22 and 23 to amend the town’s general bylaws, making the town clerk position a Selectboard-appointed position, rather than its current status as an elected position. According to Selectboard Chair Chuck Sokol, the change is intended to allow the town to promptly fill the position in the event of a sudden resignation or if the town clerk is not satisfactorily performing required duties.
“We have been very fortunate in that the last several town clerks we’ve had are effective at their role,” Sokol said. “That’s not necessarily always the case and when there is an elected position that is derelict in their duties, which are very important duties, the mechanism to remove or replace that official is through a recall election.”
In response to resident Bill Reardon’s concern that the power of elections should be left to residents, and not local government bodies, Finance Committee Chair Dan Pallotta noted that an elected official could, in theory, be absent for three years and remain on the town’s payroll.
“It’s a modern world now and we need checks and balances, unfortunately,” Pallotta said. Monday’s meeting concluded with the announcement that after roughly seven years serving on the Selectboard, Sokol will not seek reelection in Saturday’s town election. In an interview, Sokol said he will soon be moving to Braintree. Bill Baker, who formerly owned Baker Office Supply in Greenfield, will run for Sokol’s position through a write-in campaign.
“The town of Rowe is a delightful town and is well supported by its community,” Sokol said. “It’s been a pleasure to serve on the Selectboard. I felt very supported in that role, but life takes different turns and it was time for a change.”

Since I was 12 or so I thought the bass guitar sounds amazing. Everytime I hear a cool sound in a song, a riff that gives me goosebumps, it's always the bass. I just turned 40, better late than never!! I picked it up just 24hrs ago, tuned to drop D, having a fun play around and one day I'd love to play my fav song- Invincible by TOOL. I own multiple firearms and NFA items. I had no issue getting them approved as a permanent resident UNTIL my expiration came up.
My greencard expired of April 2024. I filed for 10year renewal back in 2023 and I have received a paper receipt from USCIS stating that they have extended my status for another 24months.
Once I received the 24month extension, I figured all is good and proceeded to purchase more NFA items and applied for a renewal of my LTC.
Well turns out, whenever there is a NICS check on me, the inquiry extends to ICE. And to my surprised, all my NFA/LTC applications were denied because ICE deemed that I am "illegal status" since my greencard was expired.
I got in touch with a FBI NICS agent and did some digging.
Basically, if you are in the situation of waiting for the 10year renewal, ICE does not give a fuck about the 24month extension that USCIS gave you. They won't come after you but they will deem you as illegal in their system.
I tried all sorts of way to prove my legal status, but ICE wont budge.
It is amazing how the US gov agencies operate.

Just as the title states, my PC seems to turn randomly while gaming. I first noticed this when playing Helldivers II and would always occur right when a 40 minute mission would end and transition back to HQ. Figured this may be some weird optimization messing with my computer but when playing Manor Lords, it seems to be shutting off at random intervals. This doesn't seem to occur with other games I've been playing recently as well such as My Time at Sandrock, Diablo IV, and Valorant. So this seems likely to be some spike hitting a security threshold and, as a safety measure, shutting everything off, right?
Well, this seems very likely to be a failing PSU not delivering enough power. So I bought a brand new PSU to replace this one and all the cables associated. Note that I've been using the PC for maybe 4 years with the current configuration without issue until recently, so no new hardware changes have occurred. After changing the PSU out, the issue persists. I checked Event View which indicated some issues but I cleared these all up and now I'm not getting any more errors but again the issue persists.
I've deleted and re-added all new drivers. Ensured Windows is most up to date. I ran tests with HWi and I'm not seeing anything that looks like overheating. Logs showing up to the point of the crash show a core temp hovering around 43C and GPU shows 85C, which is more on the warmer end but I don't think its really at a breaking point.
I ran Heaven Benchmark with no issues averaging the same temps. I ran Cinebench with no issues. I'm reviewed many forums facing the same issue but am at a loss of what it could be.
