But of a long one so apologies in advance but would love to some advice. I have recently had an absolute nightmare with British Gas. It’s a very long and boring story at this point but the gist is this:
I moved into my flat a year and a half ago and my electricity bills from British Gas were being sent to the flat downstairs with the wrong address and addressed to ‘the occupier’. I had absolutely no way of knowing these bills were for me.
When I thought it was sus that I wasn’t paying electricity (assumed for a bit my bills were combined but they were too low so grew suspicious) and did my own research to try and sort it out, British Gas began sending me debt collector letters saying they were taking me to court.
I of course grew frightened and tried to get in contact with British Gas to sort out the problem and pay the bill. A whole saga played out where they tried to make me pay an old account, couldn’t figure out why it wasn’t under my name, attached two accounts to my flat and basically totally cocked it up to be frank. At this point I was on the phone daily to them for a week to get it sorted.
Flash forward to a few weeks ago when I FINALLY managed to get through to someone and they manage to sort my account out for me, although I had to hold their hand the whole time. During this process there was multiple mistakes on my account and at one point people were just hanging up on me because they couldn’t sort out the problem.
Then last week, I receive a bill for the back dated energy finally to the right address and under my name. To avoid any more debt collector letters, I put promptly set up a repayment scheme to pay this monthly.
Throughout this process, I placed many complaints to absolutely no avail and they were closed one after another with no response. However, I put another complaint in yesterday stating how disappointed I’ve been with the service, the mental stress this has caused me and the fact that if I hadn’t investigated the bills would still be going to the wrong place. I requested that I have the large back dated bill wiped from my account.
Someone replied today and asked me to confirm my address and name AND PUT SOMEONE ELSES ADDRESS AND NAME????
A lot more has happened but you get the idea and the fact it’s been a nightmare. SO MY QUESTION IS:

1. Is there anything I can do here to legally get help or does this sound like something that is not a legal matter?
2. Should I be paying the back dated bills that were not addressed to me or my flat?
3. Is it a breach of privacy that they sent me someone else’s name and address?

To say i’m PISSED is an understatement. Back in March I submitted a LOA for my pregnancy because my warehouse was not able to accommodate me, well DLS put their big pants on and requested many documents from my PCP which I provided within the timeframe but they were the ones that took forever, keep in mind I never signed the first forms they send giving them permission to contact any of my medical providers. They had never done it. So yesterday, barely heard back from an investigator accusing me of falsifying documents and faking my pregnancy. I explained to her, that my Obgyn is out of the country since I work at the border of CA/TJ so as being so close to the border, employees there get access to the mexican healthcare crossing the border. The way those doctors fill out forms are completely different and I let DLS know ahead of time and they said it was no issue at all. LIES. I’ve been under investigation since submitting documentation Mid April and was barely notified when they couldn’t reach my providers because obviously they still use HIPPA Laws and won’t share information with anyone but the patient. I also have an Obgyn in CA but barely go since I prefer the attention of the MX one. The investigator wants my mexican providers to forward her DIRECTLY the documents, one: they will not do because they cannot, and two: only one that can is my ObGyn and she is out of town. In mx there is no NA, MA, PA, JUST MD and only that one MD can go into your case unless a life threatening emergency. I contacted my Obgyn in CA and explained, they were more than happy to fax over the physician statements to back up my LOA, to which then the investigator replied and said she will not be taking those into consideration. She wants me to log onto my portal, sharing my username and password and showing her the steps of how to download those documents. Mexican healthcare doesn’t have a portal.. Lol. It’s been an argument back and forth, and I was not paid for the time I was given off. Never even placed on a LOA, just says pending and my schedule still shows. She’s being a big pain in the butt, and I want to quit. She has her head in her butt and is convinced I faked documents and faked my pregnancy even though I have several ultrasound pictures and other letters verifying my pregnancy along with due date. All statements have the stamp and license number of Obgyn’s. She contacted my Obgyn in CA also after I strictly told her not to, and the MA there left a detailed voicemail as to what she asked and requested. This is highly unprofessional. I will be placing in my resignation as no job is worth this much hassle. I was simply requesting an unpaid LOA. I’ll probably be flagged as Permaban but idc, they discriminated me with my first born too and didn’t accept documentation.

I am looking to get an emotional support pet to wave the fees from my apartment complex. I have already spoken to a doctor and received a letter of recommendation. I sent the letter to the management company. They replied with a 4 page document that they need filled out by my doctor instead of the letter. As far as I could tell, the only thing you need for an ESA is a letter from a liscened doctor. Is it legal for them to require their own form to be filled out? This form also requires me to have been seen by this doctor for a certain period of time. The management company knows that I just moved to the area. I have not had time to even establish a doctor until now. Are they allowed to do this? Or is my letter from the doctor enough to protect me getying a pet?

okay so we have been dating for 5 months now, long story short, we were to meet tomorrow like after 2 weeks and he's not a texter, my messages are mostly on read, i texted him about something else in the noon and, no reply all day. until he responds midnight and i ask, what's the plan for tomorrow and he says, he isn't sure and has meetings. since i had arranged things as a surprise, like cinnamon rolls, etc. that i wanted him to have fresh, i told him, he should've communicated to me earlier and he said, why did i even assume that we were to meet 3 pm? that's not his problem, bc we usually meet the time we are set to meet tomorrow 6pm, and i said, no we have met earlier as well, to which he goes to older chats and comes back and says, i am wrong.
so the problem is this isn't the first time he has done this, i know i can assume things and also be forgetful, and i am trying to be better at it but sometimes he becomes so literal and shoves receipts onto my face just to prove me wrong just because i merely asked for a simple communication text prior. (i feel like he's a terrible communicator and always expects me to be understanding) and maybe he thinks i gaslight him? i really do not. i told him we have met at 4:30ish before and he goes, "no we usually meet at 5- 6 and here's the receipt". going so LITERAL about it. i take a few breaths and go: ‘look babe i just needed to be communicated that you had meetings, that’s all’ and to which he responds let me fix it for you and goes with very condescending tone: "hey babe i didn't know you were assuming we are meeting earlier, even tho we have never met at 3-4ish and i have meetings and i am not sure about the timings tomorrow but i'll lyk, shit my bad" “oh no i forgot i have telepathy" and this made me feel so horrible, i feel so stupid and disrespected.
we had a fight two days back, i told him we weren't meeting and i feel invisible and forgotten in the relationship because he barely texts me, we barely talk and i feel like i make most of the plans and he goes, here are the receipts, we do talk and he does initiate calls, text messages and plans meet ups. knowing he leaves me on read for 16-18 hours or more btw. but i still ended up being super super apologetic for addressing my needs. honestly idk what to do, this made me cry, i feel so stupid, my dumbass had planned things for him and was writing a love letter for him when this happened.
TLDR: my bf shoves receipts onto my face of our old chats and becomes so literal and today acted so condescending while proving me wrong because i addressed a communication gap on his part, e.g: requiring a simple communication text regarding timings prior to our meet up, as i was left on seen for 18 hours (he usually leaves me on read like that, yea), just to tell me he wasn’t sure about the timing for tomorrow very last minute and says it’s my fault i assumed it to be earlier as i placed an order of bakery goods for him that i wanted him to have fresh.

Is this legit? I wanted to respond and I know I owe some debt but this seemed sketchy but I also don’t want this to turn out badly. Anyone else get this email?

Foreign Minister Yoko Kamikawa reacted angrily to U.S. congressional testimony that appeared to validate the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
Speaking at the May 10 session of the Lower House Foreign Affairs Committee, Kamikawa said, “(The remarks) were inappropriate and totally unacceptable.”
She followed up by arranging for letters to be posted to the U.S. side explaining Japan’s position.
The matter stemmed from a May 8 session of the U.S. Senate Appropriations Committee, where the topic concerned a possible delay in providing weapons to Israel in its war against Hamas.
Lindsey Graham, a Republican from South Carolina, asked Gen. Charles Q. Brown, Jr., chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, “Would you have supported the dropping of atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki in World War II?”
Brown seemed stumped by the question, so Graham followed up by asking, “In hindsight, do you think it was the right decision for America to drop two atomic bombs on the Japanese?”
Brown replied, “I’ll say it stopped a world war.”
Graham asked the same question of U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin, who replied, “I agree with the chairman.”
At the May 10 Lower House Foreign Affairs Committee session, Kamikawa was asked about the exchange at the U.S. Senate committee session.
She stated: “We cannot accept having Sen. Graham bring up the topic of the dropping of atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki while the discussion was about the current situation in the Middle East.”
Noting that the atomic bombings claimed “many precious lives and caused indescribable suffering in the form of illness and disabilities,” she said “the use of nuclear weapons does not fit the spirit of humanitarianism that is the ideological foundation for international law because of the tremendous destructive capability and lethal force of such weapons.”
While she did not provide details of what was contained in the documents, Kamikawa said letters had been sent to Graham’s office as well as the U.S. government.

"Himiko?" Kokichi knocked on the door to Himiko and Tenko's room later that night. Himiko had taken a long nap after such a disappointing day. But, before she fell asleep, she reflected deeply on what Kokichi had told her. She had to admit that he was right, that she needed to a better attitude about herself. But, how to do that, she didn't know. She suddenly remembered his words: You should be smart, confident, and capable of doing things your way. Her way? What was her way, exactly?
"Himiko?" Kokichi whispered a little louder. Himiko opened her eyes, hearing Kokichi calling out to her. She scrambled out of bed and went over to answer the door. "Ooooh?" Kokichi murmured with a curious smile. "Yeah, we can stop by." Himiko nodded and retreated back into her room to grab the two tin bowls of cookies she had baked with Three and Ten.
"Nyeh...okay, I'm ready," Himiko said. Kokichi took her hand in his, and the two crept downstairs. Some of the others were still in the dining room eating dinner, so Kokichi and Himiko had to leave through the front door to get to Himiko's secret magic room under the gazebo. Kokichi stood outside to keep watch while Himiko went inside her magic room. Once inside, she went for her magical dream powder bottle and poured some of its purple, sparkly contents into a small vial, hiding it in one of her jacket's pockets. Then, she met back up with Kokichi.
"Now I'm ready," she said.
"Okie-dokie!" Kokichi replied, taking the tin bowls from Himiko to hold them for her. "Let's go, HimikoCocoa Bean!" They then hurried over to D.I.C.E. headquarters.
"Boss!" Four said, jumping up from the couch. "And Boss Lady!"
"Hey, Ichiro," Kokichi and Himiko replied.

"Oh..." she said softly.
"What? Why?" Ten asked. "Did they not like them? Because I put all my blood, sweat, and tears into those things! Er...well, not literally...duh."
"Yeah, I hope not!" Two exclaimed, sticking his tongue out in disgust. "I bet there are people in this world who actually do stuff like that!"
"Nee-heehee...I know a very horny someone who'd do something like that," Kokichi said.
"The tin bowls are still so full!" Three said, her voice dripping with disappointment.
"It's not really the cookies that people didn't like, Keiko," Himiko said. "It was because of me."
"What exactly do you mean by that?" Nine asked.
"Well, I'm not really popular at school to begin with," Himiko said. "But, I wasn't really trying my best to sell them because I didn't think I could."
"Ouch," Six muttered.

"No," she finally answered. "Actually, I've decided to go with Ten's plan from earlier."
"Right! Um...wait, what plan was that again?" Ten asked.
"The plan to make the snickerdoodles," Himiko said.
"Oh, yeah!" Ten remembered, a grin crossing his face.
"But, I wanna add a secret ingredient of mine," Himiko said.
"I hope it's not blood, sweat, and tears," Two said, shuddering.
"Why not?" Seven asked with a creepy smile. "Don't you like that salty, metallic flavor in your cookies?"
"Ew! Yuck! Kokichi, make her stop!" Five said, covering her ears.
"Tsukiko, don't make me tell Emi to get Mr. Sparkles," Kokichi warned. Seven hid under a blanket.
"No, please. Anything but that accursed pink and plushy unicorn!" she hissed. Five grinned smugly at her.
"Can we help you bake again, Himiko?" Three asked hopefully.
"Nyeh...of course!" Himiko answered.

"Neat-o! Let's get started!" Ten said, rubbing his hands enthusiastically. Kokichi nodded to Himiko encouragingly, and she followed Three and Ten to the kitchen. They soon got started on the batter. Himiko removed the vial of dream powder from her pocket.
"Oooo! What is that stuff?" Three asked, entranced by the purple, glittery powder.
"Hopefully the thing that'll win over any potential customers," Himiko answered before pouring the powder into the mixture. She mixed the batter until it became a shiny, glittering harmony of many colors.
"Holy Constantinople-y!" Ten exclaimed. "What the heck kind of secret ingredient is that?!"
"The batter looks so...pretty!" Three breathed in awe. "It's so...shiny and sparkly!" Then, she lowered her voice. "Is this...some of your magic, Himiko?"
"Nyeh...that's right," Himiko nodded.
"I know this is might sound like a dumb question, but...are you allowed to do that?" Ten asked.
"Nobody at school knows about my magic except for Kokichi," Himiko said. "So, technically, it's not not allowed. And besides, Kokichi said that I need to be smart and confident my way. And magic is my way of doing just that."
Part Eight
Sunday afternoon. Himiko took a deep breath, deeply breathing in the warm air as a gentle breeze flowed around her. Today, she felt lucky. She stood behind her table at the front of the school. Above her was a more colorful, glittery sign she and Three had worked on with the word, "Snoozydoodles," written in swirly letters. Hopefully it would be enough to bring in some customers. Her snickerdoodles were laid out on three large trays in front of her so that the other students could see their colorful and sparkly design.
"Hiya, Himiko!" came a cheerful voice. Himiko looked up and was surprised to see Three.
"Keiko?" she whispered. "Nyeh...what are you doing here?"
"I decided to come and cheer you on...and to make sure the turd buckets here buy your cookies," Three replied. "I put some love and special care into those cookies, and I didn't bust my tail just to have nobody buy them!"
"Nyeh...but...Ten and I worked on them, too," Himiko pointed out. "And I put my 'special ingredient' in them."
"I know," Three said. "But, I feel like if I worked hard on something, either by myself or in a group, I'd like for the world to see it, that's all."
"I understand," Himiko said with a small smile. "Wait...this is supposed to be a competition between me and Kokichi! I don't think he'd appreciate you helping me out, especially since I should be doing this myself."
"Well, I'll just be here for emotional support, then!" Three said. Himiko smiled gratefully and nodded.
"I guess that's okay," she said. " Thanks, Keiko. I like your outfit, by the way." Three scanned her outfit proudly. Instead of her D.I.C.E. uniform, she wore an oversized, cream-colored fluffy sweater over a short, pink ruffled skirt. She wore a pair of white tights with some loose pink socks and a pair of black and white checkered lolita shoes with pink straps. In her hair were pink bows over each pigtail.
"Eeee! Thank you!" she squealed happily. "It's not very often I get to go out in cutesy clothes like this, unless I'm undercover! Well...I guess you might say I'm going undercover right now, but...eh, whatever."
"Speaking of which, why are your shoes checkered?" Himiko asked. "Won't that give you away? Part of the reason why people know your organization is because of the checker pattern scarves...which makes me wonder how people haven't suspected Kokichi being part of...you-know-what."
"Heehee...I call that the 'Sailor Moon Effect,'" Three giggled. "But, anyway, when members of the organization are wearing casual clothes, we have to wear some article of clothing with a black and white checkered pattern to let other members know our affiliation. The beauty of it is that there are people not affiliated with us who wear checker patterned clothing, so it gives us a chance to blend in as if we're just regular people. That's why we have a codeword to tell the difference between members and the 'reggies.'"

"What's the codeword?" Himiko asked. Three leaned in closer to Himiko.

"'Funny business,' " she whispered.
"Nyeh...that's actually really cool," Himiko admitted with a smile.
"Yeah! You should really join, Himiko!" Three said. "I think you'll have lots of fun!"
"Fun with what?" asked Tenko, suddenly appearing with Angie and Tsumugi behind her. She had a frown on her face and marched right up to Three. "Himiko, who's this girl, and what's she trying to get you to join? WAIT!! Is this girl the friend you were talking about?! The one who helped you bake cookies yesterday?!"
"Yeah," Himiko nodded.
"Hey! I recognize you!" Angie said. "You're one of the girls who rescued Himiko from that crazy girl many months ago!" Three brightened.
"Yeah! That's me!" she said.
"Tuh...I could have rescued Himiko, you know," Tenko huffed, crossing her arms and glaring at Three.
"Well...why didn't you?" Three asked.
"Urgh...!" Tenko scoffed. "Who do you think you are?!"
"I'm Michika!" Three lied, using one of her aliases. "I'm here to support Himiko with her cookie sale!"
"She doesn't need your support," Tenko said, stepping in between Three and Himiko. "Himiko already has me! Right, Himiko?"
"Umm..." Himiko mumbled.
"Of course you do!" Tenko interrupted.
"But...you didn't even let her finish," Three said.
"I didn't have to," Tenko said. "I already knew what she was thinking because we're best friends."
"Well...then...if you're her best friend, why dont'cha buy a cookie?" Three suggested craftily.
"Hmph! I will!" Tenko scoffed and turned to Himiko. "How much for a cookie, Himiko?"
"Nyeh...same as before," Himiko answered. Tenko paid ¥500 and grabbed a shimmery, glittering light green snickerdoodle from one of the trays. "Ooo, these are pretty, Himiko! Did you bake them all by yourself?"
"No, um...Michika helped me again," Himiko answered. Tenko glared at Three and flipped her hair at her.
"Well...they're okay, then," she said haughtily. "But, they're extra special because you helped, Himiko!"
"What are these cookies called, Himiko?" Tsumugi asked, scrutinizing a glittering blue cookie.
"Nyeh...they're called 'Snoozydoodles,'" Himiko answered. "They're snickerdoodles, but a special kind of snickerdoodles."
"Oooo! Why are they called 'Snoozydoodles?'" asked Angie.
"You have to eat them right before going to sleep to find out," Himiko answered mysteriously. Tenko hovered her cookie in front of her mouth.
"Oh! So, I have to eat this right before bed?" she asked.
"That's right," Himiko nodded.
"Aw, that's so creative, Himiko!" Tenko cried in adoration. "You're really clever, too! I bet you thought of the name!" Three rolled her eyes in annoyance. Himiko provided a little baggy for Tenko to put her cookie in, and provided some for Angie and Tsumugi, as well, after they had paid for their cookies.
"Thank you, Himiko," Tsumugi said.

"Yes! Yes! Thank you, Himiko!" Angie chirped.
"Well...I guess we'd better try out the other cookies," Tsumugi said. "Everyone else said they'd have different flavors of cookies, too. Although, I don't think I'll try Kokichi's after what happened yesterday. I can plainly still feel the burn on my tongue."
"Hmm...I thought his cookies were divine!" Angie exclaimed. "I have never felt such an intense rush of heat before! Especially in a cookie!"
"Leave it up to a degenerate male to bake something so...horrible! " Tenko spat. Three raised a brow at her.
"Degenerate male?" she repeated. She didn't like hearing her boss being referred to that way.
"Yeah! Males are all scum of the Earth!" Tenko said. "Kind of like...best friend stealers."
"I wasn't trying to steal your best friend," Three said, fed up with Tenko.

"Huh...why did you assume I was talking about you? " Tenko asked. "You know what happens to people who assume things, don't you?"

"They end up knocking all 32 teeth out of the person accusing them of assuming things?" Three replied, trying to keep her cool.
"And you're violent!" Tenko shouted. "You're clearly a bad influence on Himiko!" Three stared at her in disbelief, creating an awkward silence to linger in the air.
"Well, um...I guess we should be going then," Tsumugi said, hurriedly yanking Angie away. "C'mon, Angie. Tenko? Are you coming?"

"No. I think I'll stay right here and help Himiko, since she clearly needs my support," Tenko said, glowering at Three.
"Tenko..." Himiko sighed in exasperation, but Three merely smiled sweetly at Tenko.
"Oh, my gosh! Where'd you get your outfit?" she asked. Tenko looked down quizzically at her outfit.
"W-Why...do you want to know?" she replied with suspicion.
"It's just so pretty!" Three replied. "Are you, like, the Ultimate Princess, or the Ultimate Cheerleader, or something?"
"Um...n-no...I'm the Ultimate Aikido Master," Tenko stammered as a small blush appeared on her face.
"Oh, wow! That's even better!" Three exclaimed. "I bet you give those...degenerate males...what they deserve all the time!" The hardened look on Tenko's face from before disappeared.
"You bet I do!" she said proudly.
"Oh...I wish I could be like you!" Three breathed. "You're, like, my hero! I bet you're a hero to girls everywhere!" Tenko lowered her head bashfully, blushing like crazy.

"Oh, my gosh! You're so right!" she cried. "But...what about Himiko?"
"I'll look after her," Three said. "You trust me, right? I am a girl after all."
"Ohhh...well, okay," Tenko said. Then, she smiled. "I'll trust you, Michika! Take care of Himiko!"
"Oh, I will!" Three said. "Bye! Goodbye!" Tenko waved goodbye, leaving Himiko and Three alone. Three exhaled. "Finally, she's gone!" Himiko stared at her in amazement.
"Nyeh...that was incredible!" she cried. Three shrugged modestly.
"Yeah, I guess I picked up a little bit of manipulation skills from the boss," she said. "He's way better at it than I am, though! That girl was so annoying, by the way! Is she seriously your best friend?!"
"Well, yeah, I guess," Himiko answered. "She wants to support and protect me all the time."
"Sounds more like she wants to breastfeed you, or wipe your butt after you poop," Three said in disgust. She and Himiko shuddered at the thought. "Well, anyways, now that 'Tin Cup' is gone, let's put you on the cookie map!"
"Right!" Himiko said, and gave Three a high five.

Hi, I'm not sure if anyone can help with this. When I went through the process of registering a TRP, my company registered me as a director in order to get all the documents through (I think this saved them money sponsoring me etc).
Thing is I can no longer get in contact with anyone from that company. I've tried numerous times since the war started (I worked for then for two months but then needed to move home for a bit and find work in my own country). No one has replied, it was only a small company so only 2-3 directors and no one is replying.
I will need to renew my TRP come this year. Does anyone know if I will still need a release letter, or to unregister, or can I (via a lawyer) open my own company and receive switch my TRP to that company, without anything from my former employer. I will contact an immigration lawyer, just wondered if anyone could give me an idea of what im looking at.

Genuinely shocked by CMU waitlist because former admissions officer loved my personal and my supps. Was probably due to lack of insane math talent (displayed on apps that is).
Didn’t really get huge aid from anywhere but was able to cover most of the cost through existing savings and external scholarships (apply for lots of them, especially local ones!!!!)
Start early!! Going EA was super helpful. If you need to miss a school assignment or 2, you can make that up. Sometimes to have to have to wager your present for the sake of your future. This process can really suck at times but it’s manageable in the end.

Obviously, I'll be vague about the more sensitive or identifiable details, but here is a rundown of what has happened.
Recently moved back from overseas and looking for employment. This is in England.
Nov '23 - Interviewed for a role. I was told I was the last person to be interviewed on the way out, but an interviewer corrected that as an Executive was wondering whether to approach someone else about the role. A couple of days later I was told that I wasn't successful, but that they're putting me forward for another role that I might be suitable for.
Dec '23 - Meeting about the other role. It sounded great, and it was strongly suggested that I was the only candidate for the role. I got positive feedback and was told by the person in Talent (let's call them TK) that there needed to be a meeting to confirm the specifics of the role. This got pushed back a few times and I was told that it was definitely going ahead in the new year. As I had been living with family whilst I found my feet, I asked for a firm assurance that it would as I needed to move for the role, and my living arrangements were increasingly unstable and I'd need to move to a different city. I got firm assurance, and so my girlfriend and I moved into a flat closeby with a year's lease.
Jan - Feb '24 - The meeting kept being pushed back, or was vague. TK didn't keep me up to date and wouldn't always reply to texts/emails within a reasonable time. I got repeated assurance that the job was going ahead shortly. I was eventually told the job description had been finalised and I was sent a copy to review. I read it and said I was happy to move forward. I was emailed a conditional offer of employment document that was referred to as a contract. The conditions were;

1. Evidence I am eligible to work in the UK
2. Successful medical
3. Satisfactory references
4. Evidence of qualifications
5. Security clearances (incl overseas checks for the 2 countries I'd lived in outside of UK)
6. Successful 12 week probation
7. Agreement that employer can deduct any liabilities from salary
8. Acceptance of T&Cs in job offer letter

I signed the document and returned it. The week afterwards, I attended my medical and provided my ID documents for the checks to be carried out. The week after that, TK called to say that a new Executive had decided to take a different strategic direction and that the team I would be a part of had been pulled. For this reason, my job offer was withdrawn. I asked about the contract that I'd signed and TK said that they'd check. They called back the next day to explain that my overseas checks hadn't come back yet so they didn't owe me anything.
March - May '24 - I wanted to see if my checks would eventually come back, as that would satisfy another of the 8 conditions. My UK and one of the overseas ones came back clear, but the second overseas one was cancelled by the employer. I had independently had one carried out in this process and that came back clear, so I know I wouldn't have failed it. Following ACAS rules, I had already informally raised my concern over the phone, and so a formal grievance was the next step. The job offer had been withdrawn, but there had been no conversation around the document that was referred to as a contract, not even verbally. In that document, there are two sentences next to each other that are a little unclear:

Your notice period to \employer* will be 3 months from either side.*
\employer* will give you 1 month's notice for the first 4 years of employment and an additional 1 week for each additional full year of service up to a maximum of 12.*

These are right next to each other, but seem to contradict. I've also never seen the phrase "from either side" before.
In my grievance, I explained the negative effect this has had on my financial stability and mental health, and pointed out the notice period above. I also mentioned that I was now locked into living in an unfamiliar city, and that my future job search was now very limited to the area. I didn't ask for a specific outcome, just that I'd like to start a constructive dialogue and that I'd like to see their grievance policy. They've replied and reinforced their position that they don't contractually owe me anything as I didn't satisfy condition 6 - the probation. They also said that they'd offer 4 weeks' wages as an ex gratia. I haven't replied, as I'd like to properly understand my options.
Questions

1. How do you interpret the notice period?
2. Can a company withdraw a job offer and a contract without honouring a notice period for the reasons they've given (change of strategic direction / haven't completed probation). I haven't been given a chance to complete the probation and so it's not like I've underperformed or been frequently absent.
3. Is there a difference between a job offer and a contract, and do both have to be formally withdrawn?
4. Am I right in saying that because they haven't followed the ACAS Code of Practice for Grievances?
5. Do you think I have a case that is worth pursuing in ACAS' Early Conciliation / Tribunal?
6. Is there anything else I've missed?

WHAT I EXPECT FROM YOU

• You're 18+. absolutely no minors, please.
• You're willing to jump straight into things - it's the best way to know if we'll be compatible and want the same plots.
• You'll always share your ideas (even if you're hesitant or self-conscious - I'm too, and I always make sure to put in the effort so I fully expect the same from my writing partners).
• You're ok filling out ship/character memes because they are my bread and butter. I don't require us to talk every day or even about our lives, but I NEED us to headcanon and share ideas. So I was initially a student in bs psychology program till 2nd semester in Bukc and then left to join bs english in bukc. I have applied for the credit transfer of 2 courses and got my approval letter. But still the cms doesn't show any record of it. Is this an issue? Will I face any problem while getting my degree? Student advisor says that only approval letter is needed but still there should be some record system. Also even my approval letter doesn't state any of my grades in detail. If anyone has gone through the credit transfer system plz reply.

I’ve been invited to a meeting with my direct manager (a company owner) on Thursday.
The letter inviting me is quite formal but also quite vague. It talks about an open discussion on the structure of the department.
It ends by saying I’m entitled to have a colleague with me for the meeting if I want (the company does not recognise trade unions).
I replied asking if they want me to prepare anything and would it just be the two of us in the meeting. He replied to say I did not need to prepare anything and one of the girls from HR would be sitting in as “a note taker”.
I was planning on quitting this summer anyway but I assume if they want to make me redundant I should let them rather than resigning as it will get me a (small) few quid more?

So basically I was working for a company and suddenly their financial situation became worse and they had to shut down, CEO of company works somewhere and hasn't ran away just dodging calls and messages, there are like 4 or 5 of us who haven't been paid, Some have contract and some don't they are contactless with some like me and in contact with others and they are promising to give some people money and for me he isn't even replying. I only have Offer Letter in my email as some kind of document with that company, what can we do. What would be better thing to do? please help

I’m a computer developer and often work very late. I use a junior bedroom as my home office, and have installed bright lights in the office. Of course I have installed blinds to cover the windows.
My downstairs neighbour uses the junior bedroom as a bedroom. She doesn’t have blinds or curtains as she uses the windowsill as a place to put her pots and plants to get natural light.
The neighbour says the light from my office seeps through the blinds at night and reflects off the walls/trees across the apartment, and into her bedroom. Apparently she’s sent me two letters asking me to stop having lights on at night (which I actually didn’t see so couldn’t reply); and now a third letter saying she’s having “quality of life issues” because she goes to bed at 10pm and her windows have light coming in through the night, preventing her from sleeping. She wants me to do something to “prevent this”.
I told her I’ll get some curtains over my blinds.
Any thoughts on what else I should do? Anyone ever have a similar problem?
