I was looking over their profile and recognized the image from Etsy since I tend to view iPad stencils. The seller and artist are the not the same people. It’s also concerning as they have have 16k followers with designs that are not their own 😅

New Visio user here. I was wondering if there is such a way to add connectors in between rack diagrams with the given stencils that Microsoft provides. These points shown on the switches do not seem to snap in with connectors. Any reccomendations or solutions?

2024.04.20 22:26 irishguy42 Diagrams and Scaling

I have a question regarding scaling and whatnot for drawings. My company just recently allowed me to explore using Visio instead of CorelDraw for doing schematics/floorplans/rack elevations/etc (we are a smart home A/V and network integration company).
With Corel, I'm used to just opening up a PDF sent to me and I'm on my way to editing and dropping in symbols, and I can't do that in Visio, so I'm cropping the PDFs and exporting the drawing portions of the prints as DWG files and inserting them into Visio (is there a better way to import PDFs? I did the SVG route and it doesn't work as well as DWG).
Sometimes this means I need to scale down the image to fit my paper (I'm using 24x36, when the drawing was on a 30x42 and I now have to scale it down to fit on the page. Is there a good way to calculate the scale of the new drawing? Is it good practice to just leave my Visio drawing at 1in:1in and then calculate the new scaled CAD drawing?
Example: I have a 24x36 paper and drop a floorplan from a 30x42 paper into it, and it's bigger than the 24x36 page. The scale from the floorplan I was given was 1/4" = 1'-0", and I ended up scaling the DWG to 1.25in = 1in. Is there a good way to easily calculate what the new scale for the DWG is? What I have done in the meantime is opened up the original floorplans in Corel, set the scale, and then measured a length. I then find that length in Visio, measure it (drawing is 1in=1in) and then use an online calculator to find the scale factor and then I write that as the scale in my Visio drawing (in this case, it was 1:60, so 1" = 5'-0"). Is there a better way to do this?
Also, when making my own stencils, is there a way in the shapesheet to set it up so that no matter what scale I set the drawing to in Visio, the shape will be the same paper size? As in, I have a stencil that is, for example, 1"x1" on the actual paper when I print it out (24x36). If I change the scale from 1:1 to 1/4"=1' to whatever else, can I set my stencils to not scale along with the drawing scale?
Sorry for the wall of text. I am looking up some guides, and would be happy with any resources you folks enjoy.
TL;DR:
  1. Best way to import PDFs? Using DWG insert now, tried SVG and didn't like it
  2. How to prevent my stencils from scaling with drawing and keeping actual page size regardless of drawing scale?
  3. Best way to calculate new scale if I insert a scaled drawing and need to size it down to fit my page size?
  4. Best learning resources?
Thanks!

2024.04.19 18:29 achlysxcvi Affordable Bluetooth printer reccomendations?

I mainly draw on my ipad, I draw with pencil too but my style is much more sketchy with pencil and paper and there's a chance I'm just nit picking because I feel like everything has to be perfect but I'm just not happy with things like my symmetry while I'm doing stencils by hand. It's kinda taking the joy out my practice at home and I've started overthinking my designs and just feeling unsatisfied with everything even though my mentor and others have told me my works good.
But yea, budgets a bit tight right now but I feel likes it's gonna be worth it to level up my game and restore my confidence so does anyone have any good reccomendations? I saw some cheap ones on temu with good reviews but I'm unsure if I'm aswell just dropping a little extra to get something sturdy and decent, nor do I trust temu with electricals or something that I may use to print stencils for my own body, possibly just overthinking again, it's one of my talents lol
Thanks in advance!

2024.03.22 14:10 PHRDito Can I install Visio 2016 on a Windows 11 running from Parallels Desktop on a MBP M2 ?

Hello there,
I have access to Visio online and in the new Teams with my Office365 account, but I can't import any stencils, making the app pretty useless for my needs.
I have a licence for Visio 2016, can this version be installed on a Windows 11 ARM running on Parallels Desktop ?
I couldn't find the information while searching, and guessed it was faster to ask here for your knowledge, and maybe help.
For basic uses with classic stencils (Microsoft, Cisco, Dell, Aruba, etc) what's better when working on a Macbook today, asking for an upgrade on the Visio online, or for a 2021 licence (if the 2016 isn't usable on latest Win11 ARM/Parallels) ?
Thanks !

2024.03.12 17:58 DistinctMusic7587 My past couple days.

I’m 18, and 2 days ago I had my first professional tattoo done. I was thinking about getting some philosophy quote, but didn’t know exactly what I wanted; Sartre’s “existence precedes essence” came to mind so I thought I’d just get that done and put it on my trapezius muscle or something. I also wanted to get it in French, partially because I wanted to get Camus’s “absurdites de l'existence” on the other trap, so French was more fitting. Idk exactly what I was thinking. I called a shop that was walk-in friendly and asked for a price estimate, they said it would be the shop minimum (which was $125), and they also scheduled me an hour before their closing time. The day was going great. I enjoy philosophy. I’m not an expert on Sartre, I’ve read “Nausea” and pieces of “Being and Nothingness”, but whenever I read anything I find myself associating with existential ideals (perhaps it’s because ‘existentialism is humanism’ haha). I recognize that I am apart from others' creations, but naturally, I find interest and value in a lot of his ideals. So why not have my first tattoo be a reminder of some cool philosophy?? What could go wrong? What is wrong by the way? I got there an hour before closing and waited 30 minutes until the 1 tattoo artist got done with another customer. I held on to the thought that in 30 minutes they would close, it made me sort of anxious about being a possible burden to the employees. When the artist was finished with whatever he was doing, he handed me an iPad to give him an idea for the stencil. I don’t speak French, but before I came I didn’t want to sound like an idiot so I kept repeating the words “l’existence précède l’essence” with a French accent in my head. I was anxious about the situation as a whole (my inexperience, the fact the shop was supposed to close but I was keeping them there) so I just wrote down what I remembered. It looked alright, besides the font looking a little wacky it wasn’t too bad and I just wanted to get it over with. The artist wasn’t willing to tattoo my trap but recommended the placement to be under my tricep. It was done very fast, with little to no pain. I checked it out for a second, thanked him, paid upfront, and left. I was happy to be tattooed. Hours later I took the wrap off and checked out the tattoo. It was ok, hard to look at without a mirror but it was pretty cool. I invited my girlfriend over, whom I was in a slight argument with (which may have contributed to to impulsivity of getting a tattoo) and we talked about aspects of our relationship that needed some change. I mentioned that I got a tattoo done without her earlier that day, she was not enthused. Honestly, I wish she would’ve come with me. She didn’t really care to see it at the moment, but it was still stuck in my mind a little bit. I came to a realization. My heart sank. I pulled out my phone mid-talk with her and typed the words “existence precedes essence” into translate. Of course, “l’existence précède l’essence” came up. I awkwardly flipped my arm over to see the words “l’existance précède l’essence” In thick black funky lettering permanently stained to my skin. I was overcome with an intense feeling of NAUSEA, my girlfriend asked me what was wrong, and I confessed. I felt like the world's biggest idiot. She just said “sucks to be you” and acted like it wasn’t a big deal because it’s in French. It felt like she didn’t see the level of my mistake. From there on, my night was filled with immense stress, regret, and deluded existential contemplation. I wanted to never be seen again. Hours later I was away from my girlfriend and home in bed with very self-loathing and harmful thoughts. I thought of people pointing it out, I thought of living with the constant pressure of eyes that are capable of pointing out my mistake, ruining all of my intellectual validity. And then I thought of Sartre. I thought of my minuscule existence. I thought of my ‘hell’ indeed being ‘other people’. I thought of how much free will I have. So much free will that it condemned me to make such a bad choice. But why is this a bad choice? Because it’s misspelled? It’s doing nobody any real harm, except maybe myself when I apply for jobs or maybe go to get a higher education. But most importantly, I thought of being an example. With this misspelled tattoo, I have sacrificed my humility to whomever may point out my flaw, but with that, I can show them the example of how hell indeed can be other people, and how we shouldn’t live in self-subjection to the objectification of another consciousness. Besides being an opportunity to inform, it serves as a constant reminder to treat the pressure of being looked at in a particular way with a lot less importance. And I hate misspellings. I don’t know why, but having something that contradicts me in that way also keeps me in check.
What do you think Sartre would say about my tattoo? I also thought about his appearance and how people looked at him, though I’m sure people didn’t question his intelligence often, I could imagine it being pretty difficult carrying out life with looks that you yourself hold with discontent and the opinions of others on them reinforce that discontent.

2024.02.26 16:24 NetSecNW Low Level Design Diagram Standards

Having been a network designer for quite some time now I have come across different ways of creating network designs. My preferred approach is to use generic icons (Firewall, Routers, Switch etc....) in Visio, this allows me to create diagrams at speed without worrying if I have the correct visio stencil. What are peoples thoughts around using Vendor specific icons when creating diagrams? Does it limit you in any way? Does it look more professional? Just interested in what peoples thoughts are?

2024.02.16 00:45 Key_Education_958 Is Visio the best tool for server diagrams?

Hi there, looking to create diagrams of different servers (mostly Dell) in different configurations- i.e. a PowerEdge R740 with a certain riser config and certain PCI cards. I bought Vision "assuming" that I would simply find the proper Dell stencils in VisoCafe and then drag and drop the appropriate cards onto the appropriate slot. Boy, was I wrong! First off, the dell server collections on visiocafe are really incomplete. Is there a better source? Can't find any on Dell support....
Is there a better tool to do this? Just cut and past image files and stack them in powerpoint? Or is Visio in fact the best tool for this?
Thanks!

2024.02.15 19:34 Fine_Stretch_8339 Digital vs. traditional

Digital vs. traditional
Just wanted to use a recently finished piece as a way to talk about the subject of drawing digitally vs traditionally.
I’m someone who sketches almost exclusively on my iPad because it’s convenient to travel with. I try not to use the assist features on the app as much as possible because I really want me skills to be able to transfer to paper.
I see a lot of people on this forum discussing the need to work with physical art, and I completely agree with that. Using digital art, however, has allowed me more opportunities to draw which allowed for me to constantly practice.
If you’re a new artist that is struggling with trying to jump from digital to a physical medium, just know that you are more talented than you think and it will improve your skill overall tremendously.
Also, I love to connect with other artists on IG, follow me @steeley.stencils

2024.02.05 19:30 lung_inspector [TS REQUIRED] How to customize your iPadOS 16 lockscreen similar to iOS 16.

[TS REQUIRED] How to customize your iPadOS 16 lockscreen similar to iOS 16.
⚠️ WARNING: If you do not know what you are doing, PLEASE don’t try this.
You will need: - An iPad on iPadOS 16.0 to 16.6.1 - TrollStore - Filza - Some app that allows you to respring your device (PureKFD recommended)
Limitations: - No widget customization (frameworks for them never existed afaik) - Can’t hold the lockscreen to customize it (frameworks for them never existed afaik)
Steps: 1. Download this file, and click “Open in Filza” - File: https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/1192933117334388846/1192958455363932260/com.apple.posterkit.provider.instance.titleStyleConfiguration.plist?ex=65cfe223&is=65bd6d23&hm=9ede7a157cb048f4629ea0eb49b21f8734d167ac11b24334b1d1980f255e6394&
  1. Click on the “Edit” button in the top right corner, select the file you just imported, and click, “Copy” on the left side.
  2. Go to this path: /vamobile/Containers/Data/Application/[PosterBoard App UUID]/Library/Application Support/PRBPosterExtensionDataStore/59/Extensions/com.apple.PaperBoard.LegacyPosteconfigurations/[UUID Random String]/versions
  3. Click on “0”
  4. Where you see the Clipboard icon (in the bottom left corner), click it and press “Paste”
  5. Click “Replace” (THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT, DO NOT FUCK THIS UP)
  6. Respring your device (can be done with any app that allows you to respring)
Now your lockscreen should have white text and the stencil font. If you’d like other styles, you can use another TS-compatible device with Filza, go to the same file path mentioned here, and copy that file and follow this tutorial using that style. Don’t ask me for files with different looks, I probably won’t have time to do them.

2024.01.19 01:22 tenntouge ULPT: How do I get people to help leave reviews on a shady tattoo shop to save future customers?

My wife contacted a tattoo shop in Nashville TN called Safe House Tattoo and inquired about a tattoo from a certain artist, the discussion that started on IG was about a tattoo with floral and maybe some small fruits like blackberries nothing crazy. Unfortunately, when my wife arrived at her appointment and saw the design was mostly cherry blossoms and nothing else, my wife was upset because she didn't ask for that, the examples my wife had given her on her floral arrangement in the tattoo would be something like magnolias, blood red flowers, or olive branches with maybe some blackberries intertwined into the arrangement. The artist said she could fix it but then proceeded to take 2 hours to "redraw the tattoo or her iPad using procreate. Now I'm not sure what they think is fair but making someone wait 2 hours and then starting the stencil process and everything else, seems like it would be part of the process, well not at Safe House. The artist took a little while to line up the art which is understandable you don't want a lopsided matching tattoo. Then got to work and after a while took lunch....for almost an hour. I didn't know we had to pay $200 an hour for their lunch too....wth. Then she finished one side like she said she would but the problem was that we paid for a full day session of 7 hours and only received 4 hours of actual work. They then told my wife she would have to come back to finish, with no mention of additional fees for the next session before she left. She eventually went back for her follow-up appointment to finish the other side and was worked on for 3.5 hours. After the session, they asked her if she liked it and she said she loved it, to which they then replied ok how would you be paying for this session. My wife was incredibly confused and asked the question.
"What do you mean I already paid for the tattoo in full last time I was here." They stated she paid for the first session and not this one, to which she said my session was for 7 hours and I only got 4. I came back for 3.5 hours today so I guess I owe you $100 right? To which they responded no you owe $700 for the 3.5 session today.
After she got home crying and felt like she had been misled and misinformed about the cost and services she was supposed to get. I decided to call and calmly explain what was going on. The shop manager Johnny told me that he remembered my wife and remembered the look of shock and confusion on her face when the additional charges came up. He also told me he didn't ask any questions about the confusion either, simply proceeded to ask her for payment, which my wife not trying to cause a scene or make problems then paid the additional cost.
After the conversation about the time that was wasted, services not received, and unexpected additional costs. Johnny said he would look into it and call me tomorrow around the same time, which he did. And his response is why this issue is now on Reddit. He responded that the artist doesn't prepare more the one tattoo and then slight modifications can be done larger ones would cause a reschedule, to which I replied that if I came in and an artist and I couldn't agree on an image for 3 hours do I owe that artist $600, he said no no no. So I asked him why he had charged my wife for a 2-hour redraw then which he replied. I looked up the emails and talked to the artist, the shop is happy with our decision and results if you're unhappy with how things turned out "Maybe you should have done better research on the tattoo."
I can't believe the unprofessionalism and actual deception that Safe House Tattoo has done to my wife on this incident and I wish my Google reviews were on their page that they couldn't just pay Google to have taken off.
Any ideas to help a future customer from being taken advantage of by taking their reviews way down?
