2020.02.23 20:04 ANGRYGOLEMGAMES BasicFantasyRPG

The Basic Fantasy Role-Playing Game is a rules-light game system modeled on the classic RPG rules of the early 1980's. Though based loosely on the d20 SRD v3.5, Basic Fantasy RPG has been written largely from scratch to replicate the look, feel, and mechanics of the early RPG game systems. It is suitable for those who are fans of "old-school" game mechanics. Basic Fantasy RPG is simple enough for children in perhaps second or third grade to play, yet still has enough depth for adults as well.

2024.05.14 15:04 entecva1 The Value of Managed Services

Since the days of "break/fix IT," technology has advanced significantly, and most internal IT services are simply ill-equipped to keep up with the rate of advancement. As a result, many companies find that their IT is reactive rather than proactive and that their systems struggle to keep up with the demands of a growing organization in the digital age.
It's time to think twice if you've ever laughed at the notion of outsourcing support to a third-party provider because you believe your present IT structure is enough or because you're worried about costs. Managed IT services in Richmond offer several advantages, particularly if you use a program like Microsoft Dynamics 365.
What Is managed services?
Let's go over the fundamentals of the managed services model before delving into its benefits.
The practice of contracting out business management and administrative duties to a third party is referred to as managed services. The fact that managed services can refer to anything from supply chain management to marketing strategy to call center operations explains why you'll note that this term isn't only limited to IT. Having stated that, the subject of this article will be managed IT services, which are the kind of managed services that are most frequently mentioned.
Concentrate on the main goals.
The IT needs of your business will grow with it. While your IT staff might be able to handle part of this increased workload, they will probably become overworked and unable to grow with your company's needs. This will force you to give extra work to staff members who aren't on the IT team, which can divert attention from important business goals.
One advantage of managed IT services in Charlotte is that they allow you to cover gaps as necessary, while also giving your staff more time to concentrate on the tasks for which they were hired. A managed services partner that is truly qualified will provide you with a flexible service model that lets you decide what kind of support you need, whether you need someone to handle your company's whole IT department or just keep the lights on.
Obtain the knowledge you require.
With new technology comes new challenges that your current IT staff might not be equipped to handle. And then there's the managerial concern: You will require a sizable number of resources to support your business solutions, whether your systems are on-premises or in the cloud. This presents a problem if your IT department is essentially run by one person.
Reduce expenses.
One of the obvious financial advantages of managed services is the reduction of labor expenses, as it does not require recruiting and on boarding new IT personnel. The majority of MSPs provide a hybrid model of onshore and offshore resources, which lowers the average effective rate and broadens your resource pool. The potential to have capabilities accessible on a scalable basis is quite tempting.
Allen William author of this article and writes since long time. For further details about Managed IT services in Richmond please visit the website.

2024.05.14 14:21 tapontapontaponmo Is it exhibitionism?

So when I was a foolish 20yo I had my first internship. I had to ride a bus everyday going to work.
Idk what clicked in me but the thought of masturbating inside a bus na may possibility na makahuli saakin turned me on so much. Parang first week ng intership ko, ayun lang naiisip ko during my commute.
By the second week, I acted on it. Sa medj 2/3 part ako ng bus uupo. I would whip it out halfway the trip to stroke. Grabe, exhilarating feeling pero may kaunting takot kasi if mahuli tapos isumbong ako, edi lagot ako. Tapos before I would disembark, I had to finish. Naka ready na ako lagi ng tissue paper.
By the third week, everyday ko na ginagawa papasok. Sadly, by this time walang nakakakita or nakakahuli. Or baka may nakakita pero di nila sinabi, voyeurism ba.
For the fourth week, the magic happened. MAGIC? So nag sstroke then hindi ko namalayan may nanonood na pala. Guy, probably 30s. He was watching me intently nung napansin ko. I gestured na lumapit siya, he did. Nakalimutan ko if I offered for him to touch. Naalala ko na lang, katabi ko siya nagjajakol ako tas napabilis ako mag cum that day. Hiningi niya yung tissue paper. Di ko na naalala kung ano ginawa niya. Basta I think I cleaned my dick and then waited for my stop.
Hindi ko na siya ulit nakita after pero hanggang mag end contract ko dun sa place, every morning routine siya. That was the only time I was seen. Sayang but I guess ganun talaga.
I don't do it nowadays, tumanda na ata ako masyado lol.
Thanks

VANCOUVER, BC / ACCESSWIRE / May 14, 2024 / Arras Minerals Corp. (TSXV:ARK) ("Arras" or "the Company") is pleased to announce the commencement of a regional field program across the more than 3,300 square kilometre license package it controls in Pavlodar, Kazakhstan.
Highlights of the Planned 2024 Regional Field Program:
  • The 2024 Exploration program will target licences associated with the Teck Strategic Alliance, and Arras's 100% owned Elemes and Tay projects.
  • An extensive airborne and ground geophysics program, followed by a mapping, soil sampling and drill program over the Package A and Package B Licences under the Strategic Alliance with Teck Resources Limited ("Teck").
  • A geophysics and detailed mapping program followed an initial diamond drill program targeting the Berezski and Aimandai copper targets located within the Elemes Project.
  • An initial scout KGK program followed by an initial diamond drill program on the Tay Project, targeting the 6.5-kilometre x 2.1-kilometre Induced Polarization ("IP") chargeability anomaly.
Tim Barry, CEO of Arras, commenting on the upcoming 2024 Field Program, stated, "We are very much looking forward to starting the 2024 field program. This will be our third exploration season in Kazakhstan. Over the previous couple of seasons, we have assembled an excellent team of young local geologists, gained hard won experience on how to effectively explore in Kazakhstan, and put in place robust systems which allows us to quickly assess projects and move them to the next stage. Furthermore in 2024, we are very pleased to also have our partner, Teck, working with us. They will provide invaluable additional support via their technical specialists. We are also excited to follow up on our Elemes and Tay prospects and expect to drill them later in the season after refining the targets with additional mapping and geophysics.
The 2024 field program has the potential to be transformative for Arras. We expect to drill at least three new porphyry prospects this year, which when combined with the Beskauga Project which we have under an option to purchase, means we potentially have at least four porphyry prospects controlled by the company. The project portfolio is close to incredible infrastructure and the country is quickly becoming a tier-one destination for copper and gold exploration globally as demonstrated by many of the copper and gold majors establishing a presence in Kazakhstan over the past 6-12 months."
Arras's licence package is located within the Bozshakol-Chingiz metallogenic belt, a belt of rocks that includes the Bozshakol Mine, as well as the Beskauga copper-gold-silver porphyry deposit currently under option by Arras. The licence package is composed of 17 licences and covers just over 3,300 square kilometres in area and is shown in the map below.

A budget of approximately US$2.5M for 2024 has been established for the Alliance package and will include airborne and ground geophysics followed up by mapping, soil sampling, and targeted KGK and potentially diamond drilling. The initial focus will be on Package "A" with work on Package "B" expected to commence in the coming months.
The Elemes Project - the Berezski and Aimandai Targets: The Berezski and Aimandai targets are located within the 531 square kilometre Elemes Project. The Berezski Target is an 8.8-kilometre-long copper anomaly which was announced in February 2024 and contains shallow historical drilling that has yielded notable results such as 132 meters at 0.80% CuEq and 108 meters at 0.94% CuEq from surface. The Aimandai Target is a 14-kilometre x 3.2-kilometre NE-SW trending coherent copper ("Cu") anomaly (>100ppm) which was announced in March 2024 that is parallel to Berezski and approximately five kilometers to the east and has had no known drilling.

Over the coming months, both targets will be mapped in detail along with ground geophysics to better refine the drill targets. A diamond drill program is planned to follow to test these two exciting new targets.
The Tay Project - The Tay IP Target: The Tay IP Target is a 6.5-kilometre x 2.1-kilometre East-West trending coherent Soviet-era Induced Polarization ("IP") chargeability anomaly located 28 kilometres north of the Bozshakol open pit copper-gold mine, and 85-kilometres from Arras's operational base in the city of Ekibastuz. The entire prospect is masked with unconsolidated cover believed to be 10-40m deep and has received no systematic modern exploration to date.

The Tay Prospect is strategically situated with outstanding accessibility and local infrastructure, including nearby high voltage power lines, railway, and roads.
Plans are underway to follow up the chargeability anomaly with a KGK drill program which will drill through the overburden and test the top of bedrock to understand the geology and then follow up with a diamond drillhole program to test the chargeability high.

Cautionary Note to U.S. Investors concerning estimates of Measured, Indicated, and Inferred Resources:* This press release uses the terms "measured resources", "indicated resources", and "inferred resources" which are defined in, and required to be disclosed by, NI 43-101. The Company advises U.S. investors that these terms are not recognized by the SEC. The estimation of measured, indicated and inferred resources involves greater uncertainty as to their existence and economic feasibility than the estimation of proven and probable reserves. U.S. investors are cautioned not to assume that measured and indicated mineral resources will be converted into reserves. The estimation of inferred resources involves far greater uncertainty as to their existence and economic viability than the estimation of other categories of resources. U.S. investors are cautioned not to assume that estimates of inferred mineral resources exist, are economically minable, or will be upgraded into measured or indicated mineral resources. Under Canadian securities laws, estimates of inferred mineral resources may not form the basis of feasibility or other economic studies.*
Disclosure of "contained ounces" in a resource is permitted disclosure under Canadian regulations, however the SEC normally only permits issuers to report mineralization that does not constitute "reserves" by SEC standards as in place tonnage and grade without reference to unit measures. Accordingly, the information contained in this press release may not be comparable to similar information made public by U.S. companies that are not subject NI 43-101.
Cautionary note regarding forward-looking statements:* This news release contains forward-looking statements regarding future events and Arras' future results that are subject to the safe harbors created under the U.S. Private Securities Litigation Reform Act of 1995, the Securities Act of 1933, as amended, and the Exchange Act, and applicable Canadian securities laws. 2024.05.14 13:49 JustACasualRat Can’t take this month anymore

There is a month left of school and this person keeps bothering me, he’s an old friend and he betrayed me. He won’t stop making my life a hell. My parents think this is some small friendship argument we are having and we will be back sooner or later. Neither do they know that he is making my life a living hell. As I’m writing this I’m trying to skip school because I can’t fucking take this shit anymore. I talked to the principal, she def helped but I don’t want to snitch on him again and say he’s bothering me or people will think I’m a snitch. He is very popular amongst my grade, everybody likes him and knows him. He made the third person in our friend group turn on me and hate me so he makes sure I won’t be in their friend group again. He and this different guy both make sure my life is hell. Anytime I make a joke they all start turning on me. I have moved 3 schools from this and I can’t take it anymore. I’m currently 13 in 8th grade I have nobody to turn to and nobody to get advice from. Pls help.

2024.05.14 13:39 Sudden_Character1974 I am at a loss for words

If you were to tell me that I sound like an entitled brat in this following rant, I would 100% agree with you. But it’s 7 am, I can’t sleep, and I just need to get it out there.
I basically straddled median last semester (think Top 45%ish.) B+’s galore. Long story short, changed my tactics, changed the way I wrote exams, etc.
First grade came back, B in Contracts II. I was frustrated but, it was my worst subject so I brushed it off. Just checked grades again, and somehow got a B+ in Civ Pro. This even after studying for ages, asking prof what he wants, getting model answers on the practice exams, etc.
It feels like I’m just ramming my head into a brick wall. No matter what I do, what I change, or what I try, it seems I can’t get higher than a median grade for the life of me.
Thanks to Contracts II, I am now below median. It not only feels like my dreams of big law, law review, etc. are slipping away, but it feels like I’m letting everyone down. My parents, my family, my gf, everybody. I feel like a failure. Shit sucks man.

2024.05.14 12:21 LadyDairhean Generations

The Great Depression had a significant and lasting impact on society, especially in the Dust Bowl states. Oklahoma suffered the worst and is still suffering from its effects. The stock market crashed in 1929. This was 11 years after the end of WWI when a lot of working age men were killed. My father was 19 years old. Children age 4 and older had to go to work in the fields harvesting and hoeing weeds. My maternal grandmother who was born in 1932 cut broomcorn and picked cotton by hand. The International Harvester for cotton was invented in 1940, but only came into widespread use by 1970. The broomcorn industry died out in 1980. Older boys age 11 and up went to work in sawmills and the trades. Watch the movie Walk the Line. Johnny Cash’s older brother of 14 was almost cut vertically in half when he slipped and was cut through the sternum by a large saw blade. Can you imagine being that young and handling dangerous machinery with no safety equipment? Safety equipment didn’t exist back then and neither did child labor laws. Those old Boomer children worked just as hard as adults to help feed their families. They were punished for playing. They had to suck it up and endure extreme hardship just to eat and they ate very little. Everyone was starving and filthy. There was as no indoor plumbing, no electricity and no air conditioning. I watched my grandmother work from sun up to exhaustion and she slept in her clothes. When she died, her bra strap hooks were rusted from sweat because she never removed it, meaning she hadn’t bathed in decades. She was 4-8” and wore a child size medium. She was conditioned to hard work and starvation. She and her family including my mother never overcame the effects of the Depression. She was functionally illiterate despite graduating high school in 1948.
Education stopped at third-fourth grade for the average child because parents were extremely poor and couldn’t afford to pay for schooling. School was different then. Teachers lived in a teacherage provided by the school district and earned a living stipend from the state to teach grades 1-4 how to read, write, sign their names, cipher, count money and read a watch. That was the extent of free education. Advanced learning after 4rth grade was taught by subscription very similar to private tutoring. Grades 5-7 were called grade school. Grades 7-12 were called high school. They didn’t have Junior High.
In 1935, the Second New Deal created the Works Progress / Projects Administration (WPA) to help people recover from the Depression. A lot of new schools were built during this period. Schools were funded with a combination of state aid and a tax levy called a mill collected from every resident in a school district. When Boomers say they shouldn’t have to pay a school tax because they don’t have children in school, this is what they’re referring to. They had the right to vote against a tax levy. These days, we call them temporary sales tax increases to fund things like new gym equipment. Everyone inside the school district votes on the increase and everyone inside and outside the district has to pay the sales tax if they shop at a store in the district. These no-voters will shop outside the district if the tax increase passes.
Fast forward to WWII (1939-1945) and the Korean War (1950-1953) and we see a significant decrease in school attendance that results in the closure of many rural schools. Many of this second generation of Boomers grew up in boarding schools and orphanages because their mothers couldn’t afford to feed them. This period resulted in a high population of youth being institutionalized. One of my grandmother’s sisters was raped by her uncle at age 14 and was sent to an asylum for the mentally ill. My mother (born 1952) and her sisters were taken by DHS (called CPS today) and sent to a girl’s state school after their father died of cirrhosis at the age of 42. He was a bootlegger who literally drank himself to death. Prohibition (1920-1933) was another result of the Depression. It lasted until 1952 in Oklahoma. Forced sterilization in mental institutions was outlawed in 1951 for the sake of medical study. The practice began in 1931 because the state believed that mental illness/retardation was genetic and caused by incest/inbreeding. It runs in my mother’s family so I can confirm the state was right. Mutations in the brain can be passed from mother to child.
The third generation of Boomers was born during the Vietnam War (1955-1975). I was born in 1973, so I’m technically Gen X with Boomer influences but not to the point that I’m a raging psycho. I consider those born in the 60s to be the third Boomer generation. My town lost its high school in 1968 and stopped at the eighth grade. All those who graduated from the 60s-1980 are the anti education gatekeepers of the workforce that I’m personally struggling with. These are the people who hate anyone with an education level above theirs. They’re offended by education unless you’re a doctor or a lawyer and they can use you. They are also anti-technology and refuse to use it. They are bullies who are socially enmeshed and always in your business. This generation of women married older men because men their age were fighting in a war. Or, they married wealthy men. Those women didn’t have to work and became bored housewives. I blame daytime soap operas for teaching these idiots their horrible social skills. They stayed home almost 24/7 except for when they were at the hair salon or shopping. They wore a lot of makeup too and nail polish contained formaldehyde. The amount of lead and toxic chemicals they were exposed to was very high. My mother was in this category from 1970-1980 when she divorced my father. Men who came home from the war were addicted to heroin and may have turned to cocaine, crack or meth. Many ended up homeless or hooked up with women for the welfare benefits. They were insanely abusive. Very few were able to adjust. Women who did not marry well, had to work cash jobs to support themselves and they might have qualified for USDA commodities and food stamps under Johnson’s War on Poverty (1964). We didn’t have welfare reform until 1996. My mother became an alcoholic and was addicted to amphetamines sold as diet pills in the 80s. We had pure meth from 1980 that my stepdad was addicted to and an explosion of brown meth from 1994 to the present. Almost this entire generation and my own Gen X either experimented or became addicted to meth. It affected Millennials too.
Child prostitution as a means of survival and CSA were common during the Depression because there was no law against it and it’s something society has difficulty grappling with. Oklahoma passed its first anti-child molestation law in 1945 after the end of WWII. I remember those old Boomer women saying that talk about sex was vulgar and those matters weren’t discussed. It was swept under the rug until 1990 when teens finally began to speak out. We had an explosion of violent rape and domestic violence in the 90s by Boomers and chauvinists who couldn’t bear to give up their right to sex on demand and beating women.
We got the Department of Education and mandatory attendance in 1980 so Gen X was the first generation to have a well rounded education since 1929. All the generations that came before us are jealous because we also got child labor laws and the statutory rape law. We’re the first generation that didn’t have to endure backbreaking work as children. We got easy jobs like paper routes, babysitting and mowing. As teenagers, farm kids hauled hay but that’s about as strenuous as it got. Many Gen Xers got pregnant young and had to drop out of school or couldn’t go to college. They had to get married and raise a family. I’m struggling with this portion of my generation being jealous as well.
I think Gen Z is the best generation because they are so far removed from the absolute hell that previous generations went through. They have the best education, the best social skills and are the most well adjusted of all the generations that came before them. Gen X just needs to teach ya’ll life skills and survival skills that you can hand down to Gen Alpha.

2024.05.14 12:11 lulumary96 Moving departments on a promotional basis

Hi all,
I'm moving CS departments on a promotional basis and the destination department (MoJ) have a policy -
"If you are joining on promotion the increase will be 10% or the minimum of the relevant MOJ grade, whichever is the higher"
The current salary in the job description and in my contract is essentially the same as what I earn in my current role. My new contract has not been updated to reflect this 10% uplift.
I've been fighting hard to get this from my new LM, MoJ HR but I honestly want to bang my head against a wall... has anyone had experience of this?? Why are they making it so difficult?!? And does it matter that I am still on probation in my current role?

2024.05.14 12:03 Incognit0_Ergo_Sum Arabo-Aramaic and ʿArabiyya : From Ancient Arabic to Early Standard Arabic , 200 ce–600 ce , by Ernst Axel Knauf

Hi all. I would like to recommend the most interesting work by Ernst Axel Knauf. I will quote the most interesting quotes (from my point of view) here. But I still advise you to read the entire article, as it is written in a very accessible and understandable language.
author's profile at the academy: https://unibe-ch.academia.edu/ErnstAxelKnauf?swp=tc-au-28366493
read the article: https://archive.org/details/arabo-aramaic-and-arabiyya-from-ancient-arabic-to-early-standard-arabic-200-ce-600-ce
"Nabatean Arabic became some sort of standard Arabic as early as the second century bce, but it was a spoken, not a written language, and it was, in the beginning, of no interest to anyone outside the relatively small circle of Arabian international traders and shippers. It became a written language between the third and fourth century ce in post-Nabatean texts.96 500 years of Old Arabic–Ancient Arabic coexistence and/or diglossia can now be considered."
"The Nabatean script is a cursive script. It was developed for writing on “paper” or its ancient equivalents. It reflects the needs of a society of traders who had to keep accounts and set up contracts. Only secondarily, with the onset of conspicuous architectural consumption at the end of the first century bce, their utilitarian cursive script was put to lapidary, epigraphic use. Unfortunately for the perception of Nabatean society through modern eyes, it is their “luxury” (and basically non-essential) written record which dominates the data base, whereas the main output of Nabatean scribal activities, the papyri, have only survived in meager installations, like the Nabatean papyri from the Babatha archive.106"
"With the imperial crisis of the second half of the third century, Greek lost its splendor in the East: the Parthians' Sasanid successors wrote Middle Persian (and Aramaic, for that was the language of their economical powerhouse, the Iraq); Arabs ( if not Christianized) turned away from both Greek and Aramaic."
"Aramaic, no longer in use for written business transactions among the Arabs themselves, remained present in pre-Islamic Arabia from the fourth through the sixth/seventh centuries through the Jewish and Christian communities which felt no urge to translate their scriptures into Arabic; a fact which one day early in the seventh century ce would instigate a failed merchant from Mecca to give his fellow Arabs a “liturgy” or “recitation” (in Arabic: qurʾān) in plain Arabic, obviously being of the opinion that the other monotheistic religions had failed, or neglected, to do so."
"From time to time the assumption resurfaces that the Arabic script did not develop from Nabatean Aramaic but from Syriac. It can be traced back to early Muslim scholarship,128 but it has no other argument in its favor than the relationship of the written word to the line: while Nabatean is sublinear (the letters are hanging from the line), Syriac and Arabic are supralinear (the letters are standing on the line). This feature can be explained by the easier assumption that Nabatean writing (the origin of all individual letters) was influenced by a Syriac adstrate in Arabian scribal practice during the fourth and fifth centuries ce. (Hoyland, “Language and Identity,” 196, with n. 50.)"
"Cursive writing with diacritical points indicates that throughout the fourth through sixth centuries ce Arabian merchants continued to trade merchandise and to keep records of their business in the Early Standard Arabic which they had inherited from the Nabateans.144"
"The cultic origins of Poetic Old Arabic with its archaic and, in prose and everyday speech quite superfluous case-endings are, especially since the discovery of Avdat 1, no longer questionable. On the other hand, Luxenberg has reopened the question of how pagan (instead of non-standard Christian) pre-Islamic Arabic really was.151"...
I’ll stop at the most interesting point, the article is very informative, be sure to read the footnotes and bibliography. Good luck.

2024.05.14 10:40 throwawayacc-555 Feeling lost after failing

Hello, I am currently a third year nursing student that is most likely going to receive news tomorrow that I failed out of the program. I recently took my MedSurg final and I needed a 78 to pass the class, however, after taking the exam I feel confident that I did not get the grade I needed.
I have been thinking a lot and feeling anxious over what my future will be. To be honest, when applying for colleges I did not have a specific passion and did nursing because of my family's culture (heavy on nursing lol), my interest in the healthcare/stem field, and because it is in demand and I would be able to help my family with money.
In my program, you only have one withdraw and one fail. If you fail a class, retake it, then fail it again you're out. If you withdraw a class, retake it, and fail, you fail. Unfortunately, I have already used my fail chance for another class. Right now I am thinking that I should have withdrawn, but I genuinely thought I would be able to pass. Now, I feel stupid for being overconfident or stubborn. I feel like a dishonor to my family and a complete failure. I've been thinking back to the class I wasted my fail on as well. I'm sad that I made the wrong decision and now my whole life, family, and personal relationships will be negatively affected because of me.
I don't really know what to do, and I'm just looking for a place to vent for the time being. I told myself that if I fail this class, I should not go to school again to be a nurse. However, I am unsure what else I would major in/what majors would help me out well financially after graduating, and I feel defeated because I spent 3 years for my major only for it to be a waste. My professor said they will release the results later today. I am going to try appealing to the department to see if I can use my withdraw somehow to keep me in the program, since they did something similar for a few students last semester, but I do not have high hopes that it would work for me.

2024.05.14 10:35 No_Departure7837 Failing my highers. Need to ask a question.

Hi guys. I am currently S6, 17 doing my 4 highers in Secondary. I am doing them at second sitting as in S5 I was doing 4 national 5's and 1 higher. I am repeating that 1 higher this year and doing 3 of those national 5s at higher this year. I could not sit 2 of my exams as I was kicked out of my house without a phone for the days of those exams and I was more worried about having a place to sleep than sitting my exams. Now that I am back I am devastated as I know no university will accept my 2 no awards and my other 2 sub-par results which I don't want to blame on my home situation but I did study whenever I possibly could. I've always wanted to get into saint Andrews or any other high achieving uni like university of edinburgh. I've accumulated all my money together from work and realised I can take those 4 highers again by paying a nearby college to let me do those higher courses at their centre, but I wonder if the university I am applying to will see that I did not achieve highers at S4 or S5 at a satisfactory grade and therefore will not accept my application, or at most treat me as lower than the ones who also achieved whatever grades I will get next year at s6/s5. I am worried I will pay the money, get the needed grades, do extra curriculars, get good predicted grades, make a great personal statement over the "gap year" just for them to say no because I am technically third sitting instead of first or second sitting like 99% of applicants.
I really want to get rid of this chapter of my life, achieve the best grades possible the year after s6 then get to uni after that year. I really don't want to do 2 year courses just because of this situation I'm in. If anyone who knows this sort of stuff can answer, will they still treat me as someone who did second sitting as I am doing the same qualifications or not? If they don't can I do something to achieve equivalent qualifications in that year? I understand the basic answer is "just ask the uni".. I have already emailed them so I want to hear other opinions before they respond. Thank you for any responses

2024.05.14 10:17 eefyjeff [Silly Limbus Company x Blue Archive Event Concept] "Office 68 Work File: Burning Love" (+ Fanmade IDs listed by me)

[Silly Limbus Company x Blue Archive Event Concept]
This is a very silly (borderline stupid) idea that would be very unlikely to happen, but it's still very funny and I have to get it out of my system.
Overall Synopsis: The event itself would take place in the backstreets of District 14, where the LCB would need to pass in order to enter the nest of N Corp. However, their journey was halted due to a very rampant Distortion activity known as "The Fox of Calamity". This Distortion is especially dangerous because not only that it has destructive pyrokinesis abilities, but also has a power to attract present syndicates member to join her cause just by witnessing the chaos she creates. Naturally, the LCD department has sent a warrant for LCB to suppress the Distortion, and also noted that due to their past of breaking an N Corp. taboo (see Distortion Detective), they couldn't be there to assist with this mission. Instead, they formed a contract with "Office 68", a well-known Office with the motto "Will do any jobs so long as the price is right", to aid them in LCD's steed. With all of the pieces in one place, truly, what could possibly go wrong! (everything)
Event Flow: Just like most of the in-game Intervallo, this event plays out like normal (story wise), with the final boss being "Wakamo, the Fox of Calamity", which can switch from her humanoid form to her full Distortion under a certain HP gauge. However, instead of the usual "grind event materials to be traded with rewards" system, it will instead use a Raid Boss formula similar to the 3rd Walpurgisnacht. After completing the story, a Raid stage with varying difficulties is opened. The stage will cost Enkephalin Module to enter, and the goal is to deal as much as damage as possible in a limited number of turns. A full team death during raids will still be counted as victory. The boss fought in the raid will be the fully distorted Wakamo, which has a passive that prevents her HP from dropping below 1 and fully recovers HP + Stagger at the next turn start. The rewards gained will be divided into two: Grade threshold based, and cumulative points based. Grade threshold is based on your overall performance you did in a single raid (like C, B, A, S, S+, etc) and the rewards are claimed once for each grade (higher difficulties give more point multiplier, thus giving you a better final grade), while the cumulative one is based on the total points of all the raids you have done.
Event-Exclusive IDs: [000] "Distortion: Fox of Calamity" Ryoshu (Extraction) Wakamo [000] "Office 68 Operator" Rodion (Extraction) Aru [00] "Office 68 Section Chief" Ishmael (Extraction) Kayoko [00] "Office 68 Chief of Staff" Don Quixote (Event Reward) Mutsuki
Keep in mind that since this is a collab event, the listed IDs may not be available after the event ends. The banner lasts for the entire event duration instead of the usual two weeks time limit, and the extraction IDs can still be acquired from the dispenser (under the event tab of whatever season active currently), but will be removed after the duration ends. In short, better start grinding!
SIDE NOTE: All the BA characters featured would be aged-up because I'm pretty sure you need to be 18+ to be a Fixer.
Overall, that's enough brainrot for one day. Let me know what you think.

2024.05.14 09:54 Sword-Logic Last May Pickup (...So Far): X-Tech's Shin Hati

Last May Pickup (...So Far): X-Tech's Shin Hati
I think I'm done beating up my wallet for May The Fourth this year now.
Here's my third hilt from X-Tech, their Shin Hati installed with a Proffie v2.2. It only arrived today, so I haven't had a ton of time with it yet, but I'm quite enjoying it so far. It feels quite nice in hand, and has a decent weight to it without being overly heavy. Surprisingly loud, and sounds quite good overall, and the three accent pixels in the pommel are a nice touch. There's a nice mix of raw aluminum, black anodizing, and weathered parts that looks quite good, despite the white coloration of the grips on the show prop not being present.
Overall impressions are pretty good, but I'm not surprised by the good quality, my previous hilts from X-Tech were both great. The hilt came in a fairly nice case with much better molded padding than you see from the likes of TXQ or 89sabers, and included a really lightweight standard-grade 36" pixel blade that's well diffused and surprisingly bright. Pretty happy about the blade, as 36" is my preferred blade length, but my only 36" pixel blade is a heavy grade.

2024.05.14 08:46 intothetoilettoo Falsely Accused of Plagiarism!

A little context: I (24F) am taking online courses to finish my BA in sociology. I just got my AA last year and wanted to keep going with school. Having graduated with a 4.0, I wanted to keep this up with my BA program because I have dreams of getting my MA and PhD one day, but I know it’s harder for those with online degrees to stand out. This is why I emphasize my GPA.
Anyway, I’m enrolled in my 5th and 6th classes right now at the college. It’s only the third week of summer semester and I just finished writing my topic proposal for my scaffold research project for one of my classes. I spent 3 solid days researching/writing for the majority of the day because I was too busy last week with other homework/papers. I submitted it Sunday night before it was due, and I was surprised today to find out I got a 0. All my instructor commented was “OP, did you use this paper in another class?”
I feel terrible. The professor gave us very little direction on the rubric, so I used my experience of writing a topic proposal in another class to do so. However, NONE of the information in this paper was akin to any other paper I’ve written before. This is a HUMS disabilities class, and I’ve never before taken a course like this. I emailed her, and I assured her I take this seriously and that I didn’t reuse an old paper. I even offered to share my notes with her and the few research papers I have written before.
I have dreams of one day being a professor and researcher myself. I take academic integrity seriously. My Turnitin report was only 7%, flagging only common phrases. Everything else was original, and my sources were properly cited in-text with a perfect APA reference list. I asked her to please share what makes her believe I was academically dishonest. No response yet.
I’m at a loss here and I am so worried that I’m not going to be able to get my grade back. I had a 100 in the class before this and now i have an F. The worst part is that it’s too late to withdraw, and even if I did, my scholarship money paid for this class. I would be at a loss.
So far there are no formal charges yet. Should I expect her to file them? Should I talk to someone else, depending on what she says? Even if she dismisses this and somehow rectifies my grade, I don’t even know how to move forward with this class considering there are 5 more writing assignments part of this research project, as I feel like I’d just be accused again by her.
What should I do at this point?

2024.05.14 08:33 McComfortable I'm in serious need of help and it feels like it's too late for me

I don't really no where to start. I feel I've lost myself, consumed with anxiety and guilt and fear and regret and I fear, this new fear, that it's going to be the end of me if I don't start to get it out in some way, shape or form.
I guess I'll begin at the beginning...

I had a difficult childhood with fairly neglectful parents. A mother who openly expressed she never felt she really stepped into her mom shoes until she gave birth to my younger sister, who is three years younger than me. She is my only sibling. My mother told me when I was a kid that she "had to love me", but when my sister came around "she was finally a mother and over the moon", or simply "I always always wanted a girl". I'm not sure if this could be attributed to Post-partum depression, not that she ever researched that or was daignosed with it. That's probably just me trying to pardon my mother or something to the effect. She was 17 when she had me and I'm sure times were different then, my parents both were raised religious, father christian, mother mormon. Maybe their guilt. I ask myself why they brought me into this world if I wasn't wanted to begin with. Or, give me up for adoption to a set of guardians that would have loved me better. I know I was an accident and that's not what gets me down, I get that life be lifing and what happened happened. My difficulties stem from the feeling that my presence never gave my mother any sense of purpose, responsibility or love, or concern. She was emotionally unavailable to me virtually my entire life and I feel like that caused many issues later in my life and how I perceive myself and what I deserve. Coupled with the fact that my neglect met such extremes that I am frankly shocked that I was never picked up by child care services, maybe things were different in the 90's. I'm not sure, I was just a child then.
Much of my upbringing I didn't receive a lot of the things most people would consider essential. As a baby my crib was the sock drawer, then I grew large enough to have a closet, then slept on the floor of a walk-in closet, then I had a single bed from what I recall for maybe a year or maybe two years and I remember feeling metal springs poke me in the my ribs and I recall it being uncomfortable enough for me to move back to sleeping on the floor next to the ratty old used mattress my father found from who knows where. I remember feeling like I had to keep that secret, that the mattress they gave me was uncomfortable enough for me to sneak sleeping on the floor next to it. I think I was really afraid as coming across as ungrateful. My father came from a third world country, so the "gratefullness issue" was address frequently by my mom because "I don't have it even half as bad as what my father had to endure. And she was probably right. But it just silenced me ultimately, didn't put things into a mature context for me. I just learned that I can't complain about anything ever. Anyway, that trend didn't really change when I grew older. grade 9-10 I was sleeping on the living room couch so my sister could have privacy and a bedroom to exist in for herself - which I realize is important for an individual so I encouraged her to have the bedroom. Although I figured my parents expected me to do this for my sister regardless. I was okay with making sacrfices for those I love, it was instilled in me from a very very young age.
I do feel like my father took advantage of me in the form of labour as well, having to do custodial work with my father from 10pm to 3am, at two highschools I believe he was contracted, at that young age I honestly enjoyed just spending time with my father I think, working alongside him. When I was in grade 2 and 3 I had garbage bag duty for all the students bathrooms, and I remember loving snapping the bags open by rushing air into the bag and making it blow up like a baloon. I remember the scary unlit shadowy hallways that I couldn't perceive the ends of. No bodies to see, it felt eerie but exciting in a way - like it was a whole different world.
School was a different experience for me. It was very stressful, my parents had to move a few times a year because they would dodge rent or just generally be selfish with their dual income. They loved to party hard on the weekends. I remember wondering why my father did this to himself all the time. Hoping that we could spend quality time on a saturday, but he wouldnt get out of bed until just before dinner. I didn't really understand hangovers or alcoholism and how it meant our plans would get cancelled. I think I remember trying to wrap my head around willful self-poisoning for entertainment and how could that be more enjoyable then spending time with your son? I couldn't tell my mother why I was so sad about it. Why I didn't want to move again and again and again. Why I found it so difficult to make new friends everytime I had to switch schools. Why I couldn't just do one single full school year with one class of students. It was so hard and at the time, I didn't know anything different. It was so hard to make friends and I think it created this approach to making a "new family" of friends when I became a teenager and young adult.

I remember always wanting to be a "good kid". The "best kid" for my parents. I feel like my parents attached this moniker to me that made things harder for me to mature into a rounded adult later in life. My parents always flaunted me as this point of accomplishment, the accomplishment that I was "so extremely well behaved". I would strive to be super polite, and a good host, try to help out when my parents had their friends over, literally fill their cups when the opportunity presented themselves. I think I did this because I must have made the conclusion that if I was quiet, super polite, helpful and useful then I had value. That I could be loved. That I could earn this love from my parents through acts of service.
I remember feeling like my sister and I had extremely different experiences growing up. When my parents were at work I took care of her, cleaned and cooked. one time my sister told my mom to eff off when she was 5 and I was 8. My mind was blown. I couldn't wrap my head around the fact that she had the bravery and courage to defy my mother. Looking back, my sister was just mirroring the language she learned from my parents from whenever they fought. I remembering seriously worrying and getting scared that my father was going to belt her, or use the coat hanger, which was his preference with me. I feel like my mom was always checked out and I'm hurt that she allowed my father to take his rage out on me. That my mom could care less about me being beat, but never my sibling. It was very confusing and difficult for me to process. Not that I really processed it much as a kid. I honestly just wanted to be loved and be the best child possible. Honestly though, 'm seriously so glad that my sister was spared all of that complete non-sense. I don't wish that on anyone in the world. There were some punishments where he would walk in and tell me to pull my pants down without explanation. I have memories of tearing up and saying I didn't know why this was happening, asking what I did wrong and he would just remind me that if I resisted then I would get it worse and to hurry up and get ready. My father has since apologized. I think it is how he was raised. I didn't know what to say in response, but I told him I loved him and it's in the past. But I don't know if I was being honest when I said that. My mother would still gaslight me to this day if any of this became topic of discussion, not that I'm guessing. A year ago she told me that much of my pained memories were false and this never happened. My father on the other hand typically stays pensive and unchallenging.
It seems so damned crazy writing all of this out, it feels like a heartbreaking novel and not my life at all. But it was and is my life. I have difficulties opening up and expressing my feelings and advocating for myself when the moments are true and appropriate to do so. I know it's the healthier way to communicate, but I was literally taught to stay quiet and be useful. Fast forward 20-25 years and I'm going to be 35 and I feel like just ending it all. Every year my birthday passes and I'll get a text from my family happy birthday. But they know I'm in a difficult place, they know I miss them, they know I love them and forgive them, I try the high road whenever I can but I just don't see the point anymore. they won't celebrate my life and existence, but they'll throw family gatherings for each other, birthdays, christmas, fathers day and mothers day.
On that note, another mother's day has recently passed and my mother never invited me over, I texted my father three weeks in advance in hopes of securing a time to come over and celebrate my mothers life with my family as a family. I felt particularly stung this mother's day when they celebrated and didn't text or call to invite me over. I live in the same small town so it's easy to hop over. I literally live three blocks away.
Anyway, my mother was diagnosed with cancer over christmas this year and I have been worrying for my mother ever since and thinking about my life with her and the mortal coil and the finite mount of time I may have with her. I feel like there is a large empty part in my heart that wishes my mother and I could go grab a coffee together. She can show me her ipad app art that she has been really excited about for a couple years now. She loves showing off her digital art and I love seeing her joy and how proud she is about her art. I just don't know why she couldn't feel the same for me, her only son. Maybe I'm just a her dissapointment.
I dropped out of highschool and left the family home when I was 16. I just couldn't work for my dad during the night AND go to highschool AND socialize. Something had to give. Unfortunately it was highschool and my parents didn't really care about that at all. They were just... fine with it. they supported my sister through college and she was fortunately able to graduate with a veterinary degree of sorts. she still lives with them now as she pays off her student debt, but I left and travelled and worked on music for over a decade so I admit that I was entirely out of the family picture for some time. But as I get older, not wanting to repeat the mistakes of my parents I fear that that is precisely what's been creeping up in my life.
five years ago I met the absolute most wonderful human being and I am so lucky to have my partner in my life. She and I are engaged now and set to be married. I hoped that the news would overwhelm my parents with excitement and joy. Maybe a facebook post about their son, share some family pictures or something. But they did nothing at all. I think they showed off pictures of the trip to Mexico that week instead.
I just don't really understand how I'm this unworthy of their love and unfortunately now I'm realizing that illusion that I am unworthy has infected my relationship with my fiance. I love her so much but when I can't fix everything in her life I feel like I am the failure and the guilt overhelms me so much and the guilt is such a strong motivator for me, and it usually motivates me into becoming the biggest doormat in the world. I've never worked harder for a relationship or invested this much energy. I feel she deserves it. But I don't advocate for myself. So I build up resentment. Like I clean the house constantly and work and help bail out of her bad spending habits and cover her rent without question and this and that. To be clear, she doesn't take advantage of me and that's not how I feel about it. But I do let this annoyance build up inside of me because I don't know how to communicate my feelings in a healthy way. I'm scared I'll lose the person if I speak up, or I'll be gaslit. Again, that's not my partner that gaslights. That's just generally how I feel I'll be treated if I open up with people. It all goes back to my childhood. It's affected every friendship and work relationship I've had since.
When I was 20-ish, 15 years years ago I did the classic, "seek the relationship that most comfortably fits into the patterns you experienced with your parents". And so I trapped myself in a horrific and extremely damaging relationship with a girl I'll call K. She has undiagnosed bipolaBPD, she would never seek help but self-medicate. She ended up in the hospital maybe four times for self-harming and this where she was considered to have these diseases by a few doctors on different occasions. Anway, it turned into a relationship of abuse and it wasn't exactly new territory for me. I was ashamed in that 8 year relationship. I wanted out so bad, but she would threaten to unalive everytime I tried to get away. Of course, some weeks would go by and i would get my hair pulled out of my scalp, a knife waving in the air in front of my face, spat in the face, kicked, punched, bit, a pot of freshly boiled ramen soup thrown in my face and eyes. What's worse is that I seeked police intervention on multiple occasions. Every single time the police visited, they talked me out of pressing charges, asking me " well if she doesn't have any place to go, then do you have a place you can stay at, or the shelter?". twice they talked me out of a restraining order, that legal proceedings would take forever. Adn de-escalting me from wanting to take measures to ensure my safety because she may end up on the street as a result. To this day, I absolutely wish I advocated for myself here and pushed for a restraining order. I'm so mad at myself for not doing so.
Unfortunately, fast forward a couple years into that relationship and one evening everything would finally hit the fan. I told her to never touch me again and I absolutely meant it. she had just yanked out the largest chunk of my hair to date, to the point where my scalp was bleeding and I could even see epidermal matter still attached to the folicle ends that were in her clenched fingers. My head bled a bit and I pushed her off of me. Telling her that I needed to leave, that I was walking to my secure jam space just a 10 minute walk away. It had a leather couch in a cold concrete basement, but hey at least I would be safe for the night and I could play my drums and try and blow off this anxiety and fear in a way that was safe albeit very noisy.
She hated that I wanted to leave and convinced herself I would never return. To be fair, that was the energy I had. I never wanted to see her face again and have her name on my lips after that night. So her tactic was simple, to threaten me with calling the cops and tell them that I violently pushed her. I called her bluff and said "go ahead and I will just tell them everything you've done - yet again. All I am doing is going to the space to sleep, I said, maybe play drums." She called the cops and told them she was pushed into a wall, and she felt very unsafe. Which yes, I did push her off me when she attacked me. In the past, I tried various tactics, to run away didn't work, she just always chased me down. Or sometimes I would just sit there while she was violent against me and I just "dissapeared" kind of like how I would when my dad used his coat hanger. This time, I just pushed her off of me, I was done with the relationship at that point and we both knew it. Anyway, she called the police, they arrived and when questioned I told them that I pushed her off of me in self-defence. I was drinking that night and it didn't help my case as I was arrested without question that evening and I was charged on the spot without question with domestic assault. It devasted me. I asked the police how this could happen lawfully. That she is an abuser and there is a history of this multiple times. That I've requested a restraining order. They explained that in quebec the laws are a little different and in the case domestic cases, if there is a male aggressor against a female, then the male is automatically charged to the fullest extent. I was absolutelyu devasted by this. I can't tell you the amount of fear and anger I felt in that jail cell that night.
I feel so incredibly betrayed by the justice system, keep in mind, this is law that from what I understand is only in Quebec, I was there for music at the time with an old friend whom I am no longer in contact with. I don't think the rest of the country operates under law in this way. Now I appreciate that they are vigilant about woman abuse victims, but the law shouldn't be this absurdly biased. It just doesnt feel just and fair to me. Covert abusers shouldn't be able to take advantage of the justice system in this way, but it happens.
It was an awful experience, I was homeless for a couple months afterward, not allowed to retrieve my belongings, so I lost all of my life "crap" that I had built up, years of hardwork and investment. I mention this because I realize later in life that I have intense collecting behaviour. maybe as a self-soothing behaviour. But I love building up collections of my hobby stuff as I have many and I feel they keep me regulated and it's a form of therapy for me. In any case, I lost everything when I left that whole situation. It sucks, although ultimately it's clearly best that I got out of that dreadful circumstance. I flew across the country to my hometown and to be closer to my family and old friends from highschool. It's quite a small town mind you.
Unfortunately, my classic tendency to hide and not advocate for myself created an opportunity for my abusive ex. A year following those events, despite me assuring her that I had to block her because I flew away to start a new life provinces away. That I wished her the best. That I even promised I would never tell a soul what she did to me. Not to mention that unfortunately we live in a society where nobody really has an ounce of sympathy for a male abuse victim. I had every intention to keep that promise, but she couldn't trust me ultimately. I think her logic was maybe to just beat her ex to "the punch". Kill or be killed or something like that. I don't live my life like that so I don't really know what her plan was. But she made a bunch of posts on various social media platforms for all of our mutual friends, music friends, coworkers etc. that the relationship was over and she was free. That she got out of a cycle of abuse and she was ready to start a new chapter of her life. She never used my name, just that she was glad she got away from her toxic and abusive ex once and for all.
It was exactly like that night a year prior, she threatened me with this outcome she could design for me, and I called her on her bluff by saying I was still going to block her and I can't control what she does with her life or how she conducts herself, but that I was out and to never contact me ever again. She made me regret that decision.
The posts she made that day got so many likes and support from so many of our mutual friends, even musician mates that were closer to me than her, and it absolutely destroyed me, not just internally but socially. I no longer make music anymore and it hurts to go outside into the world because it feels like everybody sees me as this monster. And still I don't have a voice to inform anyone otherwise - except my family and my fiance. I have no friends anymore. They all left my life with the belief that I did all of these horrible and awful things.
I just don't trust people anymore as a result and it's just caused me to become extremely bitter and depressed. I ruminate on the past, maybe in attempts to fix the past so I can move on. So I could do better, so I don't have to punish myself for my mistakes in the past. But it just reopens every emotional wound I have and they never get a chance to heal. That was maybe 7 years ago now and I'm still replaying these events in my head every single morning for about 1 - 2 hrs. Then I go completely numb for the majority of the rest of the day, shallow breathing, and the mildest sadness that mascarades as fatigue and disinterest.
There are some days where I seriously fear for the future and I just feel like every cruel soul will inherit this earth and that's the future, they built this world of suffering and they deserve to inherit it. Their toxic flag staked so deep into the earth in reclamation. The future isn't holding any seats for people like us. I'm so heartbroken and defeated. I feel like white-wolfing my fiance because she deserves better than this traumatized person that hides from the world. I feel like giving her my collection of collections so she can sell it all off and pay off her 10k of credit debt, then with this act of kindness I can go out not feeling like a guilt-ridden defeated loser. And leave on a high note.
When I'm alone, I get trapped in these ruminating cycles and it's the angriest I ever get. It's reached the point where I feel like I am actually reliving all this past trauma every morning and I can't do it anymore. I just feel like I am so at the end of whatever this ride was.
I don't have any friends anymore and everyone but my fiance thinks I am a monster and it's just unbearable.
I just don't even know. I am even afraid that someone will read this post and suss through all of this and make the connection. Then I'll get another new email or random throwaway account with an insta message that says "I told you you would never be able to get over me. You can move on, but you will never be able to erase the past. Never truly. You know where to find me."
It's haunting and it's poisonous. I just feel haunted and poisoned and I don't know if there is a snake oil potent enough or antitode true enough to get me back to the generous, lighthearted, energetic kid I once was.
To whoever was willing to read through all of this, thank you for hearing me out. I don't know what advice I am even asking for here. I'm hoping just speaking this out into the world in some way can alleviate this misery. I don't know.

2024.05.14 08:02 Lollybug3739 My First Breakup

I have already posted on here somewhere about how I and my current bf are looking to hopefully get married sometime in the not too distant future. He is the best thing that has ever happened to me, and I could not be happier.
This is about my first boyfriend, let's call him Dick.
I was 24 and he was 19. We met while I was working on a college campus at a Burrito Bowl. Well, actually, that's not strictly true. Although I did not attend that particular college, I was often involved in a religious organization that met on that college campus-in addition to working there. We met when I joined the Discord server for that religious organization, and offered to bring dinner to meet new people. He was the only person to take me up on my offer, and so on a storming night in the middle of a week in October, I rolled up to the campus meeting center with a wagon full of:
-a pot of soup
-tortilla chips
-seasoned bread
-butter
-shredded cheese
-sour cream
-fork, knives, spoons, glasses, and folded cloth napkins
Yes, I basically brought an absolute stranger a full meal. For free. On a college campus. In a wagon.
We hit it off and became really fast friends. Really fast friends. Fast forward to end of April the following year. He and I were hanging out together because he wasn't going to be coming back to that college the following semester. He had lost his scholarship because of bad grades. The night before he was supposed to leave, I took him to one of my favorite restaurants as a farewell treat. It was going to be two years before I could see him again. After I dropped him back off at his dorm, I went to run a few errands of my own. Meanwhile, he is texting me that he hasn't packed anything and he doesn't know where to start. I offered to come help, and he said please.
I was at the store while he was texting me, so I bought for myself a 1.25L bottle of coke, and some chocolate. I got THE text as soon as I had finished checking out: "Hey when you get here, I'd like to talk to you about something that's been on my mind."
I pull up to the dorm and go up to his room, plop myself onto the couch. He left to go get something out of his car that he had forgotten. When he came back, he nervously sat down on the arm of another chair in the room, and proceeded to drink MY coke and chowed down on MY chocolate, while rambling on about how he thought I was super sweet and that he really like me and that he hadn't intended to come back, but now, it was his entire goal to come back one day for me. He didn't ask me right then to be his gf, but said he wanted time to think about it, but would I also think about what my answer would be?
I said I would, and proceeded to get his entire dorm room cleaned and packed by 9 am the next morning. A week later, he asked me to be his girlfriend. I said yes and we were incredibly happy--for three weeks.
At the end of three weeks, we were talking while he was traveling to and from work, but there just wasn't anything there anymore. He started ("inadvertently") giving me lists of people, animals I would have to please and things I would have to do in order to be his gf. He didn't want to talk to me anymore, I never knew if he would call me or not, or if he would just randomly hang up on me in the middle of a call. He would constantly rather play video games or listen to music than talk to me. I was becoming more and more discouraged and feeling very boxed in. Also, I never received any gifts, flowers or presents from him our entire relationship. I know it is kind of hard to do long distance, but I managed to send TWO packages to him containing meaningful gifts. Side note for those interested: my current bf either sends me flowers/gifts via DoorDash, Instacart, etc., or has me go out and buy what I like and then refunds me the money. I love this so much.
I went away to go volunteer at another religious organization. Right before I left, I bought a plane ticket to go visit him for my birthday week. Everything was arranged. During the camp, we broke up. Here's how.
He knew that he was my first ever for everything. First bf, first serious relationship, first KISS. He played that, and played it hard. He knew that I had boundaries and that I would stick to them, even if I was embarrassed or thought it would hurt him. I was not going to budge on what I thought was right. He told me that his plan was basically to kiss me the minute I stepped off the plane to see if there was any "spark" there. Idk what would have happened if he didn't find the "spark". When I hinted that I might not be comfortable with that, he asked me why, and I said it was the way I was raised. He got upset, told me that he was starting to hate my parents and said that this was the way things were going to go. I hung up with him, called my mom and told her everything. I got her to begrudgingly allow me that if Dick wanted to kiss, I could. That is all I wanted, sex wasn't even on the menu.
At this point, I am mad at Dick. So I called him back and ranted off on him about how I felt about the entire thing, but mentioned that I had "permission" from my mother to kiss him IF I chose. He didn't let it go, but got his mother involved. We argued back and forth for two days. Finally, two days before camp ended, he texted me, asking if we could have an honest conversation. The basics of what he said, over TEXT:
"I love you, and when I say it I do mean it, but I mean it more in the way that you would tell your sister."
I was so distraught and stressed out that I couldn't think of anything else to do other than pray. Over the period of an hour, I literally typed out my heart and feelings to the God I thought I believed in, to Dick. At the end of it, Dick's entire response? "Don't you know that would've been better said to the Big Man Upstairs?"
I ended things immediately.
We tried to remain friends (at first this was mutual agreement, and then entirely his idea) but it didn't work out well at all. All I can say is that Karma is an absolute bitch, and in this matter I am 100% on her side. Hell, I would've even given her the weaponry needed to screw Dick over, even without her asking.
A few months go by and he ends up getting into another relationship. The gf doesn't know me, but tells him that he needs to block me or else. So he does, I end up having to leave the Discord server for the religious group, and I lost contact with most of my support group because of this. I should mention here that these were MY friends, not his. He wasn't even from the same state as I was. I found out from my best friend that just a few short weeks later, Dick went into the server and posted a prayer request about how his gf was missing. Later, he posted another, and even later posted a third. My best friend rang my phone off the hook that night trying to get in touch with me.
Apparently, Dick's gf was incredibly mentally unstable. She had threatened to go end her life, and disappeared. Nobody knew where she was. Dick eventually called the cops, and when they found her, she GASLIT him saying that he was so untrusting, was just the worst, he made her feel that way, all the jazz. They broke it off and I believe she may have been institutionalized for a little bit.
So yeah. I think I'm way happier now, just sayin. :)

2024.05.14 07:44 SuspectLegal8143 Federal Government Contract Question

Hi,
I work in IT specialized in a niche tech. Lately there's a requirement in one of the Federal government agencies for few developers who work with this tech. I have received over 30 calls from different recruitment agents (Mostly from India or Philiphines) regarding the same role. I have few questions about Federal government contracts.
  1. From what I gathered from these recruiters, it seems that you will be on recruiter's payroll even though you are employed by government. They act as a third party between you and the employer. Is this always normal for Fed contracts?
  2. Why are these recruiters quoting different rates for the same role? I have heard rates between 800 -1100 per day for the same role.
  3. Do you think I should reach directly to someone who work at the department through linkedin and send my CV that way?
Thank you.

2024.05.14 07:32 Sea_Persimmon_5713 Growing up in a strictly religious family and society has made me an absolutely miserable person

I’m a 19 year old girl, as long as I can remember I’ve been forced into religion, my parents forced me to church at like 5 and have since, I think the older I get the more they realize I don’t care but I started questioning it as a whole in like the third grade, I have other problems, but it drains my mood when almost everyday I have something shoved down my throat that I don’t believe in, I wanna listen to a song? The top comment is “Jesus loves you” I wanna go to the store? 50/50 there’s a christian song playing. Almost every social media app is absolutely littered with religious people as well, it drives me insane that grown adults don’t ever have the thought that what they believe in isn’t true, you’re lied to your entire life, the amount of religious content I get on my feed is insane considering I don’t interact with it, you can’t even scroll here and avoid it, religious ads!

2024.05.14 07:30 Unable_Property8841 Recruiter is OOO until next week, wwyd?

I had an interview on Tuesday for a contract role with the hiring manager. During the interview, the manager told me that she would take 2-3 days to think about next steps. However, she did mention that my experience and skills would be a good match for the upcoming projects. The interview was last Tuesday, and I reached out to the third-party recruiter for updates on Thursday but did not hear back. Today, I followed up again, but received an out-of-office email until next Monday. I am not sure what to do. Should I reach out to other recruiters?

2024.05.14 07:19 EJC28 Buccaneers 2024 Draft Analysis Compilation

Round 1, Pick 26 - Graham Barton, C, Duke:
NFL: The Buccaneers fortify the offensive line with an experienced player who offers position flexibility. His elite presence on the interior should help elevate the run game and keep Baker Mayfield upright.
CBS Sports: A. This is a great pick. They have major issues at center and a question at left guard and he can play both. I love this pick. Barton will move inside from tackle, but he can play there in a pinch too.
ESPN: The Bucs got their top pick of an interior offensive lineman in Barton, who can immediately step in to fill the void left by center Ryan Jensen's retirement. While all but four of Barton's offensive snaps over the last three seasons have come at left tackle -- where he allowed just one sack in 2023 and two in 2022 -- he played 446 snaps at center as a freshman, which is his most natural fit and what caught the Bucs' eye. He plays with a great base, a good anchor and a "nasty temperament" that the Bucs' front office covets.
NFL Absolutely Not Fake News: Likes his coffee hot and water cold which is actually reasonable.
Round 2, Pick 57 - Chris Braswell, DE, Alabama:
NFL: It's not often that a player with two college starts lands inside the top 60 picks, but Braswell did emerge last season as a jack of all trades for the Crimson Tide. At the very least, he could be a terrific special-teamer, but the Bucs likely hope to develop Braswell's pass-rush arsenal and squeeze even more out of his terrific athletic profile.
CBS Sports: A+. Had early RD2 grade on this outside rusher. Length, methodical pass-rush moves, deceptive power. Very productive generating pressure at Alabama. Sets a sturdy edge. A need in the post Shaq Barrett era.
ESPN: While the Bucs did sign Randy Gregory in free agency, he'll likely wind up being more of a rotational player opposite second-year edge YaYa Diaby. What they've needed is a replacement for Shaquil Barrett, who departed for the Miami Dolphins in free agency. Braswell's three forced fumbles in 2023 were tied for the most in the SEC, while his 42 pressures were the third most in the SEC. His eight sacks were tied for the fifth most in the SEC after having 2.5 sacks from 2020 to 2022. He also had 53 coverage snaps in 2023, which Todd Bowles does ask of his edge rushers. Braswell played 41 games with Crimson Tide but only made two starts, both of which came last season.
NFL Absolutely Not Fake News: He only likes the yellow part of the gummy worm.
Round 3, Pick 89 - Tykee Smith, S, Georgia:
NFL: Smith has a Mike Edwards-like projection, so it's easy to see why the Bucs took Smith here, in the same range they drafted Edwards in 2019. Although Smith is undersized and not an elite athlete, he has the nose for the ball and enough special-teams value to be a contributor in Year 1.
CBS Sports: B-. Slot defender / safety hybrid closer to slot CB size but doesn’t have those quicks. Surprisingly powerful hitter at his size and plays with a lot of conviction when tracking the football. Super-smart in coverage. Reads QB’s in a flash which helps him play faster than his timed speed.
ESPN: The Bucs see Smith as a nickel, and he played 80% of snaps in the slot with Bowles keeping a close watch on the UGA program, where his son, Troy, plays. They started undrafted free agent rookie Christian Izien last year and signed Tavierre Thomas in free agency, but their secondary as a whole needs more takeaways, which is where Smith comes in. His four interceptions in 2023 were tied for the third most in the SEC. He was also one of three FBS players with four or more interceptions and two or more sacks in 2023 alongside Michigan's Mike Sainristil and UNLV's Cameron Oliver.
NFL Absolutely Not Fake News: Ribs. This man loves ribs. Cannot get enough ribs!
Round 3, Pick 92 - Jalen McMillan, WR, Washington:
NFL: A smooth-moving slot or outside receiver, McMillan returned from injury to help the Huskies make it all the way to the national title game. He has big mitts, good hands and more juice than he's sometimes given credit for. This is a really nice weapon to add to the Bucs' WR room.
CBS Sports: B+. Crafty, complete wideout with a trademark trait. Runs quality routes. Adequate separation. Not a burner. Not slow. Tracks it with good concentrations. Not a huge YAC type nor someone who thrives when leaping for the football in traffic. Robert Woods type with a bit more juice.
ESPN: The Bucs declined No. 3 wide receiver Russell Gage's option this year, and he was released. Mike Evans will also be 31 and Chris Godwin enters the third and final year of his contract, worth $20 million per year. McMillan can line up inside or outside but 33 of his 45 receptions came out of the slot in 2023, and he caught six passes out of the backfield. He's also a master of the post route. His six touchdown catches on post routes since 2022 are tied for the most in the FBS, while his 253 receiving yards on post route concepts since 2022 are the 10th most in the FBS.
NFL Absolutely Not Fake News: Still willing to try and get the band back together.
Round 4, Pick 125 - Bucky Irving, RB, Oregon:
NFL: Bucky to the Bucs keeps the run on Ducks going. He's not terribly fast but can get up to max speed quickly and might end up as a decent complement to Rachaad White, even if they do similar things well.
CBS Sports: A. Bad testing figures - - despite reasonable speed - - but one of the most elusive, hard-to-corral RBs over the last few drafts. Smaller stature. Decent contact balance too. Weapon in the receiving game, and of course, out in space. Fun addition.
ESPN: The Bucs have had the league's worst rushing attack over the last two seasons (82.9 yards per game) and wanted to bolster competition. Irving is 5-9 and 192 pounds and ran a 4.55 40-yard dash at the NFL combine -- 14th among 20 running backs. While his testing was not great, the tape shows production. He topped 1,000 rushing yards in each of his two seasons at Oregon, including 1,180 with 11 touchdowns in 2023. He broke or evaded an FBS-high 144 tackles since 2022, and he had 896 rushing yards between the tackles in 2023, averaging 7.1 yards per rush. His 56 receptions last season led all FBS running backs.
NFL Absolutely Not Fake News: He once ate an 8 layer peanut butter and jelly sandwich.
Round 6, Pick 220 - Elijah Klein, OG, UTEP:
NFL: With 55 college starts and good length, Klein has a chance to make it in Tampa. He's stiff and might be an inside-only blocker, however.
CBS Sports: C. Smooth operator at guard. Quality run-blocking abilities. Opens the gate too soon in pass pro and not ultra experienced there. Not many true sets in college.
ESPN: The Bucs didn't re-sign Matt Feiler or Aaron Stinnie, who both started at left guard last season. Along with Cody Mauch, they finished with a combined 70.2% run blocking win rate among guards -- 16th in the league last year. None of them finished in the top 50 in pass block win rate either. The Bucs did sign free agent Sua Opeta from the Philadelphia Eagles, and Klein will compete with those two. Klein allowed 1.3% pressures at UTEP and in 45 games, he allowed four sacks with a 1.6% blown run block rate. In 2023, he allowed one sack all season.
NFL Absolutely Not Fake News: Always wondered how Raymans hands worked if he doesn’t have arms.
Round 7, Pick 246 - Devin Culp, TE, Washington:
NFL: Culp shocked a few people when he ran a 4.47-second 40-yard dash, but his 230-pound frame figures to limit his role quite a bit. Even so, Culp improved each college season and has some unrealized potential as an H-back.
CBS Sports: B+. Smaller, speedster H-back TE type. Was very underutilized at Washington but flashed when given the opportunity. Made some impressive snags in traffic. Not much YAC-wise but can run away from second-level defenders if given space.
ESPN: The Bucs' 502 combined yards from tight ends last year was third worst, and they needed to bolster competition at the position. At 6-3 and 231 pounds, Culp ran a 4.47s 40-yard dash at the scouting combine, which was the fastest among tight ends this year. But he'll need to improve as an in-line blocker, which is where his size is a concern. He's also had some drops with six (8.8% drop rate) in 28 games.
NFL Absolutely Not Fake News: Has soft hands… both ON and OFF the field.
