After sixty-seven sessions of Curse of Strahd (read all about it here), it was time for a change. So into the wild we went...
My group is nearing the end of Hither, and along the way I've written summaries of each session ("What Just Happened?"), along with interesting/funny quotes from PCs/NPCs ("Certain Things Were Said"), and a list of new characters introduced that session ("Dramatis Personae").
My intention is to write the summaries for each of the five parts of the campaign in a different format. For the Witchlight Carnival, each summary was presented in verse (my own, no machine learning shortcuts!), using the the metre and rhyming structure of various Lewis Carrol poems.
I'd like to share my summaries/poems with you all here, for posterity, and in the hope you'll find them entertaining.
For reference, the players are:

• Holafina (a harengon paladin who has lost three inches of height)
• Skerrek (a kobold druid who has lost the ability to lie)
• Arix (an owlin monk who has lost all sense of direction and is always hungry)
• Jexim (a brash fairy who has lost his diary)
• Sylenos (a beatnik, slacker satyr employed by the Carnival)

NOTE: Lewis Carroll was known to hide secret messages in his poems. I've done the same, revealing the campaign's big twist in one of the poems below. None of my players have picked up on it.

Part I: Welcome to the Witchlight

Part II: Lost and Found

"But wait a bit," the Owlin cried, "Before our minds do meet, For some of us are pretty spooked, And I would like a treat!" "No hurry!" said the Satyr, And kicked up cloven feet.
The Owlin and the Kobold Were walking close at hand, They smiled like anything to see The gates of Pixie Land. "If we could only stay a while,” They said, "it would be grand!"
The Satyr sighed so sulkily, Because he thought that Plum Had got no business to be there When all was said and done. (“It's rude of him," the Kobold said, "To try and spoil our fun!")
"Oi, Satyr," said the pixie king, "You've had a pleasant run! Should you be getting back to work?” But answer came there none And this was scarcely odd, because He had real beef with Plum.
Now Arix made a hamster friend Who offered up some clues. The others tried the riding-pug: A pleasant thing to do! (“The pug is fine," the Rabbit said, "But he’s no Shellymoo.”)
"How nice of you to come!” said Plum, "You all are oh-so kind!" Puddlemud said nothing as His teeth began to grind. The Owlin and the Kobold cheered: “That was our FAVORITE ride!”
“A wooden crown," fair Jexim said, Is what we need to come Our way along with golden paint For some un-princely sum.” The others stared, confused, and said: “Now where did YOU come from?”
‘Twas then the party dared approach The famous Mystery Mine Where psychedelic spectacles Broke the Satyr’s mind. (“I really wish,” Zephixo sighed, “You wouldn’t ride while high”).
Next Dirla pulled all kind of things Out of his wagon/portal: Bottles, bunnies, candlesticks, A shining blade of vorpal (Incidentally, there’s a word That kind of rhymes with purple).
“If you put your mind to it And searched for long enough, Do you suppose," the party said, "That you could find our stuff?" "I doubt it," said dear Dirlagraun, And gave a bitter huff.
Then he gave the Harengon The greatest gift by far: A copy of “Gnome On The Run” And bid them au revoir (Morgie would have laughed at that While struggling with slash “R”).
“I do believe,” the Satyr said, “That something is not right, And think we ought to pay a call To Messers Witch and Light.” “I think we ought,” the Owlin said “To first stop for a bite.”
But in their way old Thaco stood, A clown grown grim and surly: “Rabbit! Owlin! Pixie! Skink! You aren’t allowed to be-“ The Fairy interrupted him: “Wait, WHAT did you call me?”
Poor Thaco cried: “Things move too fast! And have since my debut In R-1: To the Aid of Falx From Nineteen Eighty Two! And if you’d seen what I have seen Then you’d smoke bubbles, too!”
Finally he stepped aside, At last the way was clear. The Satyr ambled stealthily With open eyes and ears And pressed them to a wagon large To see what he could hear.
"The time has come," Witch and Light said, "To talk of things galore Of prizes—plans—and kenku pests— and ever so much more— But first we’d better ask inside Those spying at our door!”

Part III: On the Trail of the Kenku

What Just Happened? (In the style of The Hunting of the Snark)
"Where the heck is our stuff? We just want to know This Harengon ain't getting bigger, Arix has no idea of where to go And lies send poor Skerrek a-quiver!"
"Would you get back to work?" Mister Light cried, Twirling his cane with a smile, "Otherwise find where this kenku pest hides; She's cramping this carnival's style!"
"Well, that was a bust," said our heroes, conferring, "Anyone got a suggestion? If we need to pull strings to get back our things Then there are some folk we should question."
"Time's an illusion, free will a delusion!" Sylenos' mentor decreed, "Get a contusion battling occlusions, Or relax and have some of this…wait, what was I saying?"
Sylenos proclaimed: "A genius flawed!" "A man/dragon ahead of his time." Skerrek looked at his claws; Holafina at paws, And the other two just rolled their eyes
"A centuar I'm not! I just made a bad trade The "Cloppinton's" just serendipitous, Now lend me your aid and you'll maybe persuade These horsies to drop some significance."
Then they took to the skies on a dragonfly ride (Holafina and Skerrek abreast), When you're this high there's just nowhere to hide (And to which Sylenos attests)
Now Skerrek honed on a runaway gnome Who was fleeing the carnage with glee, Holafina struck home and that's it for this poem For the gnome was the kenku, you see.

A laparoscopic surgeon is a medical professional who specializes in performing surgical procedures using minimally invasive techniques known as laparoscopy. Laparoscopy involves making small incisions in the abdomen through which specialized surgical instruments and a tiny camera (laparoscope) are inserted to visualize and operate on internal organs.

Here's what a laparoscopic surgeon typically does:

1. Preoperative Assessment: Before the surgery, the surgeon will evaluate the patient's medical history, perform a physical examination, and may order diagnostic tests such as imaging studies to assess the condition of the organs requiring surgery.
2. Surgical Planning: Based on the patient's condition, the surgeon will develop a surgical plan outlining the specific procedure and steps involved. They will also discuss the risks, benefits, and possible alternatives with the patient.
3. Anesthesia: During the surgery, the patient will receive anesthesia to ensure they are comfortable and pain-free. Laparoscopic surgeries are usually performed under general anesthesia, although sometimes regional or local anesthesia may be used.
4. Port Placement: The surgeon will make several small incisions (usually less than an inch in length) in the abdominal wall, through which trocars (hollow tubes) are inserted. These serve as entry points for the laparoscope and surgical instruments.
5. Visualization: The laparoscope, equipped with a light source and camera, is inserted through one of the ports to provide a magnified view of the internal organs on a monitor in the operating room. This allows the surgeon to see the surgical site clearly and perform the procedure with precision.

Laparoscopic surgery offers several advantages over traditional open surgery, including smaller incisions, reduced postoperative pain, shorter hospital stays, and faster recovery times. It is commonly used for a variety of procedures, including gallbladder removal, appendectomy, hernia repair, and gynecological surgeries like hysterectomy and ovarian cystectomy.

I read a subreddit about the long feud between Bisaya and Tagalogs and that Bisaya has this called "Tama" attitude. I couldn't agree more.

Based on my experience, most of my excruciating scenarios where I couldn't stand someone's work ethic happens to be with a Bisaya colleague.
This started two years ago. We got deployed in a school where we need to stay in.

1. I got a Bisayan roommate who's overly controlling on how we should act and behave in our dorm. She would want to make almost all decisions like when we should clean the room (anytime she wants) or how the room should look like. She would comment even on our meal routine and how we shouldn't cook something because she didn't like a certain dish. But for us, we couldn't voice out our choices because we will be resented. It came to a point where it got suffocating and it left me no choice but to exchange dorms.

In relation to the title, at work, she wasn't as different. Since she had a connection to our boss, she acts as if she has a say to everything our colleagues do. PS, we are both newbies and we shall be the ones to reach out and learn to get to know them but she chose to intimidate our fellow employees instead. Like for example, our colleagues started putting out their lunchbox at 11:55am. When I asked her if she'd like to eat, she says "No thanks, it's still 5 minutes until lunch" loudly for our officemates to hear. I felt the tension and the awkward silence after. After that, nobody ever talks with her at work.

1. Another Bisayan speaker got to orient us for a week at work. She overhears another Bisayan colleague and I discussing about the program. Let me code my colleague R (he) and the speaker J (she). The orientation was in between a busy schedule on closing the previous year and transitioning to a new one. R was asking if I could replace him to host the event which will be 30 mins prior the start. I normally don't have a problem with impromptu tasks if it would be hours of prep before the actual, but this one I rejected. I said no and explained I still have deadline for closing the year so all I could do is attend the orientation. The speaker, J, butted in and encouraged me that what I'd do is simple. Still for me, I preferred hosting if I was conditioned to do so or if I had the time to prepare so they got a second firm "no" from me.

During the orientation, J the speaker, unsurprisingly took her sweet time teaching us on not saying "no" to the tasks we were being given. She was reiterating that saying "no" to responsibilities was rejecting growth at work while looking at me the whole time. I knew from the start she was referring to the interaction we had earlier. I had been uncomfortable and really second guessed myself hard afterward.
Anyway, I got closure on this because I did not attend the orientation the next day and directly addressed the issue with her. Guess what? She suddenly didn't have an idea on what I was talking about and that she didn't intend to do anything that upsets me. Lesson: Don't get intimidated by passive-aggression; they will fold once you let them know you know what they're playing.

1. Our boss is Bisaya. She's fond of employees that were from her same hometown. Unfortunately, this caused division in our work dynamic. Our Bisaya colleagues were always put on pedestal like they were given higher positions at their first year (unlike the tenured and qualified ones) and were never called out for their toxic behaviors at work. They were always the ones to break the rules they set that even clients complain but since they have power and in supervisory positions, they fall on deaf ears all the time. When they do break the rules, they are quick to ignore or they scapegoat others. But if other than them commits mistakes, they were being escalated and announced. I firmly believe this rooted from our boss' unfair treatment. It made our Bisaya colleagues think highly of themselves. Tenured and qualified employees get exhausted for nothing and get blamed for every mistake. While they are being continuously rewarded just because they are fellow BISAYA. No wonder every year, most employees resign in this company.

My conclusion - most of Bisaya I get to work with have dominating personalities and are sometimes passive-aggressive.

My setup has an nvidia gpu as primary and amd gpu as secondary. I'm running on wayland with kwin_wayland running on the nvidia gpu. The displays are plugged into the nvidia gpu and vkcube.
The amd gpu does not seem to work for vulkan nor opengl games/programs.
vkcube-wayland, glxgears all work on the nvidia gpu.
vkcube and vkcube-wayland don't work on the amd gpu, with the below crashes:

When the amdgpu is used for kwin_wayland, both cards work, with the amd gpu rendering by default and I can switch to the nvidia gpu with prime-run.
However, I want to use the nvidia gpu as my primary gpu for VFIO, passing through the amd gpu into a macos vm. Also, the amd gpu doesn't seem to do 4k 144hz whilst my nvidia gpu does. I'm not expecting to play games at this resolution+refresh rate, but I do want my the desktop to be smooth with a high refresh rate and high resolution.

My mother in law lives in a different state so she doesn’t get so see my son often. The last time she saw him in person was February 4th. She flew in yesterday and came by when my husband was working and I answered the door holding him and he was shy (of course) and she immediately tried to grab him from me but he was pulling away and wanting me. And she forced him out of my arms and took him. He was uncomfortable and I just wanted him to be comfortable. I admit we both have separation anxiety from each other. I have diagnosed PPD and PPA and I currently take medicine for the PPD but not the PPA. So I just try my hardest every day to be okay even tho I’m terrified about everything including the possibilities of something happening to him. Anyways, there were just multiple instances of her trying to grab him when he wants me. Now he does play with her and want her when I tell him it’s okay or when he gets comfortable but then he will have enough and want me. I know he does love her though. He only falls asleep in my arms and he’s fallen asleep in her arms a few times. I feel bad for feeling this way and being stressed because she does love all 3 of us very much and this is her first time being a grandma and she clearly loves it but I feel like she’s trying to force it. So today my friend invited me and my mother in law to go swimming with her and her baby brother and since my mother in law didn’t tell me what time she was planning on coming over I just texted her saying I will be gone with Felix at the pool and I invited her to come with but she said she didn’t bring her swim suit. A few min later she texted again asking if I wanted her to pick up Felix and take him to her mom’s house which is 30 min away so I can get some rest. (He’s also not familiar with his great grandma since she doesn’t reach out and we only come over when we have enough time to ask.) I do appreciate that because for the past few months I’ve been dealing with some very serious symptoms and cancer runs in my family so I’m already a paranoid person because of it and it’s way worse now that I have a wonderful husband and beautiful baby boy. (I am seeing doctors in the specialties of my symptoms and I have tests scheduled already). I’ve been incredibly tired for the past couple months no matter how much sleep I get and my eyes have been super droopy. I look high but I swear I’m not 😆. And I’m losing a lot of weight unintentionally. I lost 5 pounds this week and 30 in the past 2 months. So I’m just giving you an idea of how I’m struggling. So I kindly told her no and that he absolutely loves the pool and seeing him happy makes my heart melt. So she came over when I was finished hanging out with my friend and my husband was home at that time and she told us that she would be taking him on Thursday (basically tomorrow. It’s almost midnight 😆) and going to go see her friend…a person I know absolutely nothing about. When she left I told my husband I wasn’t okay with it because he’s still a baby and I have no idea who this person is. He thinks I don’t trust her but it’s not that at all. She did a very good job raising my husband. It’s that I don’t trust strangers. And I’m not saying she has horrible friends cause I don’t think she does. We are all Mormon (she’s incredibly involved in the church and in her faith. Way more than me) and we live in the Mormon state but there’s a lot of info surfacing about people in the church that seem like they’re a safe person but in reality they’re not. I just feel like everyone has a dark side and I want to be with my son so that nothing happens. The world is a scary place and he’s too young and innocent to understand. He’s too young to control his emotions. He just knows “hey I’m feeling uncomfortable. I want my mom” or “I’m gonna cry because I’m having a hard time”. And I’m always there to make him happy again. I feel that he’s too young to be with people he doesn’t know for a day without his comfort. If it was just her taking him out for a few hours I would still be uncomfortable but I’d let them go and just ask for hourly check in’s and pictures. But I wouldn’t be comfortable with him gone from me for a day. I don’t want to intrude on her time with her friend but if she asked me to come with I would. I would be so much more comfortable if they came to my condo and they could all hang in the living room and I’ll just be resting on my bed. I just don’t want my infant being away from me with someone he’s not quite familiar with and someone he nor I have ever met.
I should clarify I do love my mother in law…even tho she can be intense. She’s always made me feel welcome and she buys me any clothes I want, she buys my husband and plane tickets to see them, she makes any food I want homemade, she goes on trips across the world and buys us stuff she thinks we would like or find cool (we do), and she spoils my son so much.
I’m so sorry if this doesn’t make sense. It’s very late at night and my eyes are barely open I’m so tired 😅

For Beginners who want to start their journey in Stock Market Trading :
If you are clueless about markets start with SIP in nifty 50 Index funds or ETF for at least 6 months, observe how your profits are fluctuating with the Nifty 50 index.
During this 6 months time , Do the following :
1.. A lot of YouTube Tutorials are available where they gave overview how's stock market works, Stocks works etc. One of the best Videos I suggest is Stocks Market basic by CA RACHNA. Those two videos must watch.
2.Once you understood the basic, start trading with a nominal amount of 10K to 25K , I suggest starting paper trade in a site like Front Page for a week to understand how buying and selling works. Don't go for high-end brokers get a Demat account from Zerodha or upstox or Angelone or Grow reputed brokers.
3.Started the Price action Tutorials available in YouTube and start swing trade or Position trade. Learn at least 2 indicators, candle stick Patterns and drawing Support and resistance.
4.Once you are Comfortable with swing trade you can move to Intraday Trading and scalping. I Suggest starting this after you completed at least 8 to 12 months in market. This trade required high technical skills and a bit Stress full too .
5.If you want to still explore the Market then go for F& O. These should learn and practiced carefully as F&O trading is the fast and easiest way to lose money in Market.
6.Also don't forget to invest stocks for long term , Keep investing in Markets during corrections and keep booking partial profits in them .if you have patience good money can be made in this style also .
Important things to remember while trading :
1.Trading is a Marathon not a sprint. So, give it time, concentrate on learning more during the first 6 months rather than Profit and loss.
2.If you are making 20 to 30 % Profit on u r capital per year, You are good trader. Money cannot double all the time.
3.When entering the trade always be sure of the Entry price, exit price, Target and Stop loss.
4.Always keep a Tap on number of trades u are taking per day, Max loss u can take per day. Overtrading is biggest problem for a lot of beginners.
5.Respect your stoploss, stop loss is your friend.
6.Control your fear and Greed. Trading is 50% Skill and 50% Trading mindset.
7.Never run behind paid channels for tips and lose your valuable money. Your money will be safe in your hands concentrate on learning rather running behind paid channels.
8Follow this path Swing trade → Intraday → Options Selling → options buying. A lot of beginners are starting in reverse and losing money .

"Just wait, how lon…" Zantol started to say as a firm click was heard as Pir-4 pressed the button. In the following moment the entire ship shuddered as all power was lost. Moments later a deep drone could be felt.
"That shouldn't have taken so long to start," Dave remarked as all the screens and consoles lit back up, as the drone to fade away. Looking around dozens of new indicator lights and alarms were screaming across the cockpit, "Well that might be it, uhh…" Dave looked to Zanthol who was shocked at what just happened, and Pir-4 now floating stilly above the radio consul, "Zanthol please tell me that this is normal and that Pir is alright"
Zanthol taking moments to understand what happened, what all the new lights are for, and moments wonder what just happened.
“Wha…, what was that."
"Well, uh, that, was the distress call," Pausing for a moment to point at Pir-4 and to mute the alarms, "will he be ok?"
"Probably, but it is impossible to know without looking in his head"
"Why aren't you concerned? I mean, he could have just died."
"Why would I, it's just a machine, and all the data can be recovered."
Taking a deep breath, Dave considered the words that he just heard, "Zanthol? How do you classify a being as sentient?"
"We have a system, how do you classify things as sentient? If I know what you would use, then it would be easier for me to explain."
"I don't necessarily see why this is important, but the way that we had done this is though test, like the Turing test, have a judge have a conversation with a known sentient being and the one being tested. Another is to test the being's creativity, or even just comparing how close to the human brain the being's brain is."
"Those are all good way to determine if a being is sentient, but the reason that Pir was created was to get one step closer to win a galactic history changing prize, and I shouldn't tell you this, but humanity will find out regardless. To do so it made a prize, bring it a artificial being of synthetic mind that it deems as sentient. it has been almost 43,323 years by your calendar since the start of the competition."
"So you don't consider Pir a sentient being because a machine doesn't. That doesn't make sense, just because it doesn't shouldn't mean that you don't. Humanity has had less time free to think of what makes you, you. Because I think and therefore I am, should suffice for treating other being as sentient…"
Dave was cut off by the radio cracking back to life, "YOU, we do░▓░k▒w what yo░▒id bu░ we will have your he▒▓!" Just as abruptly it started it cut back out.
"They sound mad, as much as I would like to continue to argue, there are more concerning matters at the moment," Dave said as he took hold of the control sticks, with a lurch the ship once again started to move, "Since I don't like the silence I'll explain some things to you, this left stick moves the ship in x,y,z movement, or front, back, up, down, left, and right. The right stick adjusts the rotation," Dave gives both of the sticks a wiggle, causing the whole ship to shudder.
Zanthol, pulled Pir-4's helmet off, he started to check what happened to Pir-4. Looking to Dave again he sees him reach out slips on large gloves over his atmo-suit's gloves, once these are properly around his already gloved hands they constrict around them to now sit tightly around his hands. Then with a simple his the compartment filled with a thin fog, curiously Zanthol asked, "Is something wrong, and what's with the fog?"
"Take a look out the view screen, were getting close to your ship, but its getting hard to tell the distance without looking at the readout. So to get around that this ship uses a suite of holograms that are constructed by little low power lasers, and theses holograms use the cameras and computers to make a three dimensional representation of the environment."
"So why the haze?"
"It's so the lasers can be seen." as Dave talked, holograms of Zanthol's ship the Prospector's Pick, Helum station, and the various pirate vessels, leaving all that can't be seen by the cameras are blank. Reaching out with his gloved hands Dave grabbed the holograms of the Prospector's Pick and Zanthol's ship, strangely his hands didn't just pass through the holograms. Already anticipating the coming question Dave said, "The gloves that I just put on have a pneumatic force feed back system, strong enough to resist my movements, but not so much it can hurt me. If I move my hand though any of them it will respond as if it were an object floating in space that I just smacked. The system will interpret how the I move the holograms and do its best to replicate it in real life," Dave said, as he pushed the Prospector's Pick closer to Zanthol's ship. Zanthol could feel the ship accelerate toward his ship, "So, this makes it more intuitive for a human to operate this ship."
"Ok, so what are you doing now, are you going to get us out of here?"
"Well you said that, one all of Pir's spare parts are on your ship and that you have very classified things on it. Wouldn't it be a good idea to get it all before running?"

Looking at the consul a gauge was flashing.
"What's that?"
"That would be a temperate gauge, and uh it says that the hull is heating up. That shouldn't be happening,"
Thinking back Zanthol remembered how the pirates breached the air-lock realized what was causing the heating, "Dave, I think it maybe the pirates, to cut open the station like that," he points at the air-lock, "to cut through it as quickly as they did, they would have to have a weapons grade laser. We probably have only a minute before it starts cutting through the hull if you can keep them from focusing on the same spot."
"Ok, that shouldn't be too hard to mitigate," with a simple twist of the wrist Dave put the ship into a gentle spin, "That should do for now. Where is a good spot for a tow cable to be put on your ship?"
"I can already feel the rising temperature rising, and it's only getting faster. If you can't do anything about it then we're probably dead."
The gauge, now entering the red, "I hear you, and I'll handle this," Dave replied turning his ship to face the pirates, "Do you know why Tungsten Carbide is such a good marital for machine tools?"
Starting to send the ship into the pirates, "It's because it harder then almost all other mettles, and do you know where the largest single piece of Tungsten Carbide is? Well, its on this ship, initially meant to skewer asteroids, but we'll see how good it is at skewering ships, and it better be, or else," sighing, Dave continued, "We're probably dead."
"That sounds insane, but probably the only thing that we can do, and even then, there are still three other in the fleet."
Suddenly, static filed the coms gradually coming clearer until a human voice could be heard, "Prospector's Pick, hold tight, help is on the way, this is the Barnard's star Battle group B3, ETA 3 minutes. just hold tight, help is on the way."
By this moment Dave's ship was careening toward the pirates, the temperature sky rocketing. The ship struggling to cool it self with the radiators turning a dull red with the heat their absorbing, struggling to dissipate the building heat.
With a, shearing, screeching, screaming, sound the spike tore into the pirate ship.
"Woooooooooooooowoh!! HELL YEAH! That will never get old no mater what the target is." Dave said with a brimming smile. "Now its getting hot in here, so I'll also show you how we cool our ships in emergencies." pressing a combination of buttons on the the consul, a hiss of cool air filled the cockpit. The hologram also showed the radiators unlatch and start floating away from the ship.
"Dave why are you jettisoning the radiators, they're needed to cool the ship."
"Yes, but that's part of the design that someone else made, and was much smarter then I am. Its going to be replaced with spares."
One of the rows of boxes moved to the place that the radiators once were, and proceeded to unfold and turn into new radiators, with this the temperature gauge visibly and quickly dropped back down to it's regular position, and the new radiators already starting to show their thermal saturation. Then the screens flashed a notification…

This started to become more disconnected and scattered toward the end, but I was just having a hard time finding a way to connect it all. I also wanted to make each chapter a bit longer, so that's why this took so long, and in all fairness I don't think I'll be writing them to be so long its just not what I'm good with.
It has almost been half a year since I randomly thought of the idea for this at a new years party, anyways here's a fun fact, I am horrible at coming up with names, so to mitigate this I have turned to use the Periotic table and names of chemicals (and/or overly common names). The most obvious of them are Dave's last name Coper most clearly a slight mis spelling of Copper, Helum Station is just a variation of Helium, (spoiler regarding Pir-4)and Pir is a mis spelled abbreviation of Periotic and 4 corresponds to Beryllium the main component in his computers and meant to reference how hard for the researchers to make a body compatible with a inorganic brain, and to my knowledge Beryllium is wildly deadly and destructive to carbon based organic chemistry.

As for the mapping file, I mapped the cue buttons, loop, load a and load b buttons with the encoder to scroll the song list, fx buttons (on/off) and the dry/wet knob for each of them. Additionally, the shift for in/out/loop can be used to control stem pads (drums, vocal, inst in that order)

’ve never posted on here, but I really need advice because I’m so distraught and have no clue what I should do I’m only 17 and don’t know if there’s any legal action I can take. So for a little background I live with my bio mom and her husband since my dad and mom separated and were never married. I originally lived with my dad since I was 2 he won custody during the custody battle. However he later lost custody of me after having a bad work accident that made him paralysed and he wouldn’t be able to take care of me but I still see him every weekend and the whole summer. I moved in with my mom and her husband and their two sons ,1 stepbrother and 1 half brother, when I was 10. And ever since then my stepdad basically directly and indirectly says that I’ve disrupted their lives by coming back into my mother’s life, because I’m an extra person they have to take care of.
I’ve been working since I was in 10th grade and saving up for my senior yeacollege since last year with the money from my job since my mom and her husband let me know that only my mom would only help me with the basics such as my graduation cap and gown, senior dues, and senior class photo. Anything else I would have to pay for myself such as prom.
I get paid about $400 every two weeks from my job which Ive been saving in full, and then making extra money doing nails about $100 a week plus tip which I use as my spending money. Since it’s my senior and last year of high school I’ve been wanting to go all out for prom so I set a $800 budget for my prom dress. My prom is in April and I wanted to get my prom dress early since most of the actual cute ones sell out quick. So I went prom dress shopping in December and found a beautiful dress that’s costed $890. It’s dark green with a long train with rhinestone imbedded into it with glitter in the dress.
When I first showed my mom and stepdad the dress they asked how much it was, which I told them the amount and my mom said that she wouldn’t be paying for a dress that expensive which I replied it’s okay because I have more than enough money saved up to buy it, and I’ll still have a lot of money left over (23k to be exact but only my mom knows that) mom said I could get the dress and that it was very pretty, however my stepdad said that it’s irresponsible and a waste of money and I should use it for better things like helping out the family and paying some of the bills. And get a dress cheaper that’s max $300. Mind you both his son’s own PS5 and multiple $200+ shoes.
Long story short my mom disagreed with him and I ended up getting the dress in the end and she even put $150 toward it.
However ever since then he constantly brings up that I help pay for things around the house since I have so much money to throw away but my mom always shuts it down saying that I work hard for my money to save it and I already help about with paying the Netflix, Amazon prime, and Hulu bills while my step brother (18) don’t pay anything.
Anyway last Saturday we got into a really big disagreement because my stepdad suggested I should help my step brother pay for his prom to which I responded with no. He later called me selfish and said that it’s not fair that I get an expensive outfit while he doesn’t. And I guess I said with in a snarky way I responded with that’s not my child or my problem. He later tried to complain to my mom and she said that I was right and that if anything he should pay for his own prom.
Well today when I woke up from a nap I noticed my prom dress was missing from my closet since it’s in the very front of my closet and looked around for it. I then asked my stepdad if he has seen it since my mother was at work. And he said he had, and in fact he was washing it, while giving me a condescending smile. I immediately ran downstairs and saw my dress being washed on the heavy duty cycle I immediately cancel it and it was ruined. Majority of my rhinestones came out and the glitter was washed out the whole dress had been mangled.
I took one look at it and then threw it a trash bag and left for my friends house with the dress. I texted my mom and sent her pictures but I’m currently at my friends house and laying on her bed. My friends parent hanged it outside to allow it to air dry so my stepdad can’t put the blame on them if the dried it in the dryer. What makes me know he did to spite me because he never washes clothes, cooks or anything since “he’s the man of the house so he shouldn’t have to”, so there was no viable reason he could have for washing it, even if it needed washing.
Is there anything I can do? I know neither of them can replace being they are tough financial situation? I’ll update you guys when mom gets home. So far my stepdad has called 2x but I haven’t answered him. And my mom’s at work and can’t receive calls.

Edit 1:I don't know how to add updates so imma just add an edit but my mom and me just got off the phone and she's pissed and otw home. She's currently otw home so me and my friend and her dad are otw to my house and my mom said she was gonna call the cops as soon as she get off the phone so they may be there by the time I get there. We've taken pictures and the uncle (my mom brother) will be over there by 8 bc I contacted him while at work. I've listened to all your suggestions about withdrawing my money out of my account so I thinking and I talked to my dad about that as well and told me I can stay with him
Edit/Update 2:When I got home my friend stayed in the car while her dad walked me in, and my step dad was already gone. However police were at the house. As of now police said they can’t really arrest him because it’s not like he broke the law of stealing (I don’t know how to explain it basically this theft isn’t breaking the law bc he washed it and didn’t keep it) they suggested I can get a confession and get him to pay or take him to small claims court. Also the dress is non refundable if damaged so I can’t return it or anything. While explaining to my mom what happened I kinda fumbled my words and started crying and she hugged me as I cried. And she said that he’s gonna pay for this, this financial issue has actually been a on going disagreement and I think he just pulled the last straw bc she is PISSED. Also I talked to my uncle and he’s actually off work and over his way over here.
Him and my stepdad apparently have a rough history since my dad has had a smart mouth towards him in the past. While explaining to my uncle what happened he said that it would be alright and if anything he’ll buy back the dress before it sells out, so I’ll have my dress by prom but he does expect my step dad to pay me back one way or another so I’m basically probably gonna get my dress for free. Maybe that’s a little win. I’ll update more probably later tonight. But things seem to be good.
Edit: Also to clear up some confusion I pay the streaming service bills bc I really want to watch the shows on those services and my mom works hard but doesn’t make enough to have those services on top so I’ve offer to pay them so we could have them. She not a horrible “I’ll pick my husband over you” mother and she always defend me and he’s never pulled a stunt like this just tries to convince her to control my money and savings. And she’s never spent my saving either. I feel like thats why they always clash because he has a mindset of we have all these financial troubles and your daughter could solve them with her savings and you have access to them.
Edit/Update 4: Okay so my uncle came over and he and my mom had a little argument bc he blamed her for enabling my stepdads behaviour by not leaving him and thats why he felt comfortable to do what he did. And she argued back saying she always defended me against him and has never taken any of my money (which is true). We all talked about it a bit and she revealed that last night they had actually had a argument about paying off a car payment because she made a comment about how all these bills are taking a toll on her, and he made a comment about how it wouldn’t be that much of a toll if she used my savings and didn’t allow me to spend it on foolishness and she got mad and defensive bc he keeps bringing it up.
He also said that the $900 I spent could’ve payed off that car payment for the next 2 months. Btw he only know about my savings because he know how’s much I get paid and that I’ve been saving all of it. So we think that’s what triggered him to throw my dress in the washer.
My mom and stepdad has also been texting back and fourth and he admitted that he washed it to teach me a lesson that I shouldn’t spend that much money on a dress that can be destroyed that easily but he put the setting on heavy duty so he obviously intended to destroy it. My uncle has also offered to replace the dress so I don’t need to worry about not getting to wear my special dress. We called the boutique and explained it to them and they say they can order another dress although it won’t be there until Feb 23 which fine tbh.
My mother sent my step dad a long threatening message basically calling him out shes kinda heated rn so imma try and ask for a screenshot later. Her and my father also spoke and decided that it’d be best that I get my own bank account so that my step dad can’t use the excuse that she has access to my account so that’s also great. My mom and I had a talk about what gonna happen after this and she said shes not sure as of just yet bc it’s all a little too much for her bc she seriously contemplating leaving him, but i guess she don’t wanna actively discuss that right now. Edit/Update 5: My uncle has transferred me $1000 for my prom dress and I’m actually planning on using the money for replace the dress and buy new shoes. He’s very well off, which was one reason I contacted him in the first place.
So I plan on just calling the boutique and seeing if they can reorder it and I’ll just pick it up from there sometime in February. However my step-dad still must pay in some form, or at least we are trying to get him to. My uncle has called my other uncles and aunts (with my permission) to basically vent about the situation.
So majority of my mom side who all live in GA knows about what happened. I woke up to a lot of text about the situation given sympathy, as well as money to have for prom which have totalled to about $300. So this is great. My mom has also contacted my step-in-laws who then spread the news with pictures and I guess most of them are shocked as well other than his mother his is buying his claim that it’s just a dress and it was a accident despite evidence. I got a call from my step-dad sister sympathising for me.
And through conversations with I learned that my step-dad has also been asking a lot of his family to help him with his finances. Because for some reason the dude has bought so many things to pay off he can’t keep up with them.
My mom called my step-dad for answers which we recorded. And he’s basically trying to blame her bc if she didn’t piss him off last night then he wouldn’t have done it. And that he was trying to show me why I shouldn’t be irresponsible with money bc I guess he planned to lecture afterwards.
Also my mom has broken up with him bc he blamed her for caring more about me than him, which is weird. Which ensured in a argument with her saying “you think i care about her more than you, your gonna see just how much I do”
Also they’ve been on a rocky relationship since he can’t manage money and this was her breaking point.

What your step-dad did is called malicious mischief and is a crime. With the confessions and proof, there probably is a case. Just know that because of the monetary value, it's most likely just a misdemeanor charge. Regardless, you definitely have a small claims case against him. Sadly, by the sounds of his financial affairs, you'll be lucky if he ever pays, but it's still worth pursuing. Good luck!

Okay so a lot of bs has transpired. Firstly we’ve place an order for my dress, and they are shipping it now and it should be at the boutique by Feb 23 so all that is taken care of. My SD and mom are officially broken up and my mom said she doesn’t now if she’ll move on with divorce proceedings yet bc everything is still fresh and lawyer are expensive and she can’t afford it rn.
Also they have a prenup so they don’t share assent and the house is my mother dad house she inherited (she had a different dad than all her siblings and all her siblings share a dad).
So my step father showed back up with his brother after a while and my step father decided to do and buy me a new dress from Macy that looks similar to dress in color and length but it’s very tacky and ugly. And look nothing like the original.
He then tried to apologise and said it wasn’t his intention to ruin the dress. he said that he was simply gonna wash it and say “see this is why you don’t buy things like this” and then he would’ve bought me another dress…. But that’s make absolutely no sense.
Also my uncle came back to my house after I texted him my step dad came back (he was at the store) and they got into a big argument where basically my uncle demanded to know why he destroyed the dress
And my step dad said he not gonna walk up in his house demanding shit, and my uncle called him a bitch. And then my SD said to call him a bitch again which he did and they ended up fighting. (My SD lost) he threatened to call the cops but we reminded him that he swung first
After that my step dad went on a tirade and cussed us out and left and took the dress with him.
We are actually planning on taking y’all advice and taking him to small claims court given the evidence and the damage. And hopefully we win. Also my SD is staying at his parents house currently.
Lastly for all curious about my brothers they are 15 (half) and 18 (step) .The 15 was at his girlfriend house since Friday so he wasn’t home for any of the commotion but did reach out to me today, I love him so much. And the 18 year basically sided with his dad so that all there is to say.
