“WHAT'S UP WITH ALTERNATIVE ROCK AND ALL THOSE SUBGENRES” What is Alternative rock? Alternative rock is a large genre consisting of other subgenres like : Alternative metal, Alternative dance, Alternative country, College rock, Indie Folk, Math rock, Post-punk, Punk, Grunge, Britpop, Dream pop, Emo, Gothic rock, Hardcore, Noise rock, Shoegaze, Acid rock, Jangle pop, New wave Gothic Rock: Emerged from the UK post-punk era in the late 70s, the gothic look stood out so much back then that it was almost impossible to ignore them. What helped differentiate goth music was how the bassist was utilized. Guitars blasted with effects and melancholic riffs being played, anyone would like it. Relatively normal drums but slowed down, but utilize drum machines. Lyrics include romanticism, mortality, existentialism, and supernatural mysticism which are found in gothic literature. Journalists believed “black sabbath” and “The Doors” were the originators of gothic music but everyone else agrees it was “The Marble Index by Nico” was the first album that could be considered goth rock. David Bowie was influential to the goth movement with his dramatic vocal style. In 1970 the title Goth was given to multiple other bands like “Suzie and the Banshee”, “Magazine” and “Joy Division”. They feel scandalized by it.” Grunge: Grunge is a genre born out of frustration. In the early 80’s and 90’s came from punk rock and heavy metal. Slow down a heavy metal riff and distort it and bury it in feedback and you have a grunge guitar. Drums are typical except extra loud, with bass playing root notes but usually hidden because of the harsh vocals. Lyrics tend to be dark, nihilistic, and angsty, usually covering more personal issues like isolation, trauma, and neglect. Seattle being the birthplace of grunge wasn't by accident, grunge was created because touring bands always excluded Seattle because it was out of the way and the weather was always horrible, so Seattle got mad at being left and started their music scene. Being able to isolate themselves from their music scene was nothing anyone had ever seen before. Hair metal would negatively influence grunge, early grunge bands hated hair metal for their performative actions and tried to create music opposite to hair metal. Nirvana, the band most commonly associated with grunge was created in 1987. Nirvana's debut album “Bleach” did well for the size of Nirvana at the time. Unable to be bought out by an indie label due to technical issues, nirvana was bought out by a major label and skyrocketed “grunge” to the mainstream. MTV was a big contributor to this success by playing the music video “Smells Like a Teen Spirit” being played over and over all night and day. With the success of grunge also came with the fall, bandwagoners, and over saturation of grunge with nirvana copycats in Seattle and even other places in America, fans got sick of grunge. Other label companies trying to find the “NEXT” nirvana and watering down the genre inevitably sent the genre into a downward spiral, the nail in the coffin was Kurt Cobain's death, the one who made it popular was dead and so was grunge. Shoegaze: A genre created from playing slow, barred chords drowned in effects, volume blasting smothering the vocals, and the overuse of tremolo. Making out lyrics is almost impossible, with lyrics consisting of gibberish and melodic moans and groans. “The kinks” are an early example of distortion credited with the creation of distortion, Dave Davis was apparently cheated on and out of rage, slashed up his apartment with a razor blade and accidentally slashed his amp, causing the infamous distorted tone caused by effect pedals. “The kinks” aren't proto shoegaze but their influence helped influence the predecessors to shoegaze. Early shoegaze bands include (My Bloody Valentine, Slowdive, Cocteau Twins, Lush, and Ride). My Bloody Valentine released their “You Made Me Realize” ep in 1988. Ride would release their debut adding speed, intensity, and adding more British culture to the genre. My Bloody Valentine's biggest weapon was released to the world in 1991 titled “Loveless”, at the time it was critically acclaimed but the album took over 2 years and A LOT of money, so their record label dropped them. Fans wanted a 3rd album but wouldn't drop until 2013 a whole 22 years later. Other bands were created out of thirst for shoegaze, Slowdive. Slowdive was created in 1989 releasing Souvlaki in 1984, “Souvlaki” flopped at the time of release. Slowdive was signed to the same label as My Bloody Valentine, intended to make a more marketable shoegaze failing to kill the genre of a shoegaze” Punk: Distorted power chords, punk. Mid-70s punk rock erupted in a rebuttal of many of the mainstream themes in the UK at the time. Whether it be music or just the culture being based around anti-establishment. A genre created out of angst and ribbon from young people in the UK and America expressing their frustration and discontent with what they say politically, oppression, and social injustice. CBGD was the home to many of the original punk artists.

“WHAT'S UP WITH ALTERNATIVE ROCK AND ALL THOSE SUBGENRES” What is Alternative rock? Alternative rock is a large genre consisting of other subgenres like : Alternative metal, Alternative dance, Alternative country, College rock, Indie Folk, Math rock, Post-punk, Punk, Grunge, Britpop, Dream pop, Emo, Gothic rock, Hardcore, Noise rock, Shoegaze, Acid rock, Jangle pop, New wave Gothic Rock: Emerged from the UK post-punk era in the late 70s, the gothic look stood out so much back then that it was almost impossible to ignore them. What helped differentiate goth music was how the bassist was utilized. Guitars blasted with effects and melancholic riffs being played, anyone would like it. Relatively normal drums but slowed down, but utilize drum machines. Lyrics include romanticism, mortality, existentialism, and supernatural mysticism which are found in gothic literature. I swear I saw an official video for Valentine back in 87-88. But I have never seen it in youtube or anywhere else. I remember it clearly because it was the first time I saw what they looked like. It wasn’t anything edgy or anti-mtv like bastards of young. It was a performance video, maybe with a black background. Even remember the MTV style video tag that said the band, song, label etc. That is how I learned they had a record out.

'Dancing with the Stars' run:
Maksim Chmerkovskiy made his debut on the show in Season 2 in which he was partnered with actress and model Tia Carrere. They were the fifth couple to be eliminated, placing 6th overall.
In Season 3, Maksim partnered with pop singer and actress Willa Ford. They were the fifth couple to be eliminated, placing 7th overall. Following country music star Sara Evans and pro Tony Dovolani's withdrawal from the competition two days after Ford and Chmerkovskiy's elimination, Ford stated on Headline News' Robin & Company that ABC had invited her and Chmerkovskiy to return to the competition, but she declined.
In Season 4, Maksim partnered with professional boxer Laila Ali. They reached the finals, placing 3rd overall.
In Season 5, Maksim partnered with 'Spice Girls' singer Mel B. They made it all the way to the finals, placing 2nd, losing out to Indy 500 champion Helio Castroneves and pro Julianne Hough.
Following the Season 5 finale, Chmerkovskiy reportedly told TV Guide Magazine he would not be returning to the show, something he later told People Magazine he had announced his departure because of stress. Chmerkovskiy did not compete in Season 6, although he and former partner Mel B made an appearance for the show's 100th episode during Week 8 of that season. Chmerkovskiy would eventually return to compete on the show the following season.
In Season 7, Maksim partnered with Olympic beach volleyball player Misty May-Treanor. The pair had to withdraw due to May-Treanor rupturing her Achilles tendon during rehearsals. As a result of this, they placed 10th overall.
In Season 8, Maksim partnered with actress Denise Richards. They were the second couple to be eliminated, placing 12th overall.
In Season 9, Maksim partnered with actress Debi Mazar. They were the fourth couple to be eliminated, placing 12th overall.
In Season 10, Maksim partnered with ESPN sportscaster Erin Andrews. They reached the finals, placing 3rd overall. Andrews would eventually replace Brooke Burke as co-host in Season 18, and go on to co-host alongside host Tom Bergeron until Season 29 in which Andrews and Bergeron were replaced by supermodel Tyra Banks.
In Season 11, Maksim partnered with singer and actress Brandy. They were the ninth couple to be eliminated, placing 4th overall, just missing out on a spot in the finale. Their elimination was seen as quite shocking, particularly given that activist, author, and daughter of Sarah Palin, Bristol Palin and pro Mark Ballas made the finale despite receiving generally lower scores overall.
In Season 12, Maksim partnered with the late film and television actress Kirstie Alley. They made it all the way to the finals, placing 2nd, losing out to NFL wide receiver Hines Ward and pro Kym Johnson-Herjavec. Alley would later return in Season 15 to compete in the All-Stars season in which she and Chmerkovskiy were reunited, being the seventh couple to be eliminated, placing 7th overall.
In Season 13, Maksim partnered with U.S. National Soccer Team goalkeeper Hope Solo. They were the ninth couple to be eliminated, placing 4th overall.
In Season 14, Maksim partnered with actress Melissa Gilbert. They were the eighth couple to be eliminated, placing 5th overall.
In Season 15, the All-Stars season, Maksim was reunited with his partner from Season 12, the late film and television actress Kirstie Alley (with whom he placed second with in their original season). They were the seventh couple to be eliminated, placing 7th overall.
In February 2013, Chmerkovskiy announced his departure from 'Dancing with the Stars', opting to pursue other endeavours. He did however make an appearance in Week 5 of Season 16 for "Len's Side-By-Side Challenge", in he danced with pro Anna Trebunskaya in two routines: an Argentine Tango with his brother, pro Valentin Chmerkovskiy and his partner Zendaya and a Jive with Jacoby Jones and pro Karina Smirnoff. Chmerkovskiy would also sit out Season 17, before choosing to return in the Spring of 2014 for Season 18. He did however make an appearance as a guest judge in Week 10 of Season 17.
In Season 18, Maksim partnered with Olympic ice dancer Meryl Davis. They made it all the way to the finals, ending up winning the season. This marked Chmerkovskiy's first, and only, win as professional. Davis has the highest average score of any contestant in the show's history: 28.4.
Following this season, Chmerkovskiy opted to leave the show in order to pursue other projects. He would eventually return in Season 23, following a four-season hiatus. During his absence competing on the show, Chmerkovskiy guest judged Week 5 of Season 21 and Week 5 of Season 22.
In Season 23, Maksim partnered with model and actress Amber Rose. They were the fifth couple to be eliminated, placing 9th overall.
In Season 24, Maksim partnered with 'Glee' actress and dancer Heather Morris. Despite receiving the first perfect score of the season for their Rumba in Week 6, they were the fifth couple to be eliminated that week, placing 7th overall. During Weeks 2 through 5, Morris partnered with pro Alan Bersten due to Chmerkovskiy sustaining an injury in rehearsals.
In Season 25, Maksim partnered with actress and television host (as well as the sister-in-law of Season 2 champion Drew Lachey who won with pro Cheryl Burke), Vanessa Lachey. Lachey and Chmerkovskiy, and WWE wrestler Nikki Bella and pro Artem Chigvintsev, were the sixth couples to be eliminated during a double elimination, tying for 7th place overall. During Week 3, Lachey danced with pro Alan Bersten due to Chmerkovskiy being absent, dealing with a "personal matter". Lachey's husband Nick Lachey also competed against her that season, marking the second time a married couple competed against one another on the show (after Season 21 which saw Carlos and Alexa PenaVega compete against each other). Nick was partnered with Chmerkovskiy's wife, pro Peta Murgatroyd, and they were the fifth couple to be eliminated, placing 9th overall.
On April 5, 2018, Chmerkovskiy announced in an interview that he was officially done as a DWTS pro. He hasn't returned to compete since Season 25.
On October 24, 2023, Anna returned to 'Dancing with the Stars' to take part in the Len Goodman Tribute during Episode 5 of Season 32. Other returning pros included Kym Johnson-Herjavec, Anna Trebunskaya, Karina Smirnoff, Edyta Śliwińska, Tony Dovolani, Louis van Amstel, and Mark Ballas.

Chmerkovskiy's younger brother Valentin Chmerkovskiy is also a pro on the show. His sister-in-law is pro Jenna Johnson.
Chmerkovskiy was engaged to pro Karina Smirnoff in 2009. The pair eventually called off their engagement that year. Chmerkovskiy danced with both Smirnoff and pro Kym Johnson-Herjavec on the Broadway show 'Burn the Floor'. He will be judging Season 17 of Fox's 'So You Think You Can Dance' alongside pro Allison Holker.
In 2011, Chmerkovskiy starred as "The Bachelor" in the Ukrainian version of the dating reality series.
Chmerkovskiy has also appeared as a judge on "Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa" India's version of Dancing with the Stars. Chmerkovskiy has starred as a judge on the Ukrainian version of Dancing with the stars, “Tantsi z zirkamy”, in 2021.
In 2012, Chmerkovskiy began dating pro, Peta Murgatroyd, but the relationship ended in 2013 after 10 months. Chmerkovskiy and Murgatroyd reunited in October 2014. Chmerkovskiy and Murgatroyd became engaged on December 5, 2015, when he proposed while onstage for a performance of Sway: A Dance Trilogy in Miami, Florida. Chmerkovskiy and Murgatroyd's son was born in early 2017 and they were married in a contemporary ceremony in Long Island, New York on July 8, 2017. Their second son was born in 2023. In February of 2024, Chmerkovskiy and Murgatroyd announced that they were expecting their third child together.

Great memories from those times, playing halo split screen multiplayesystem link with my brother and friends, listening to bands like linkin park, bullet for my valentine, mnemic, raunchy, inflames, Korn, adema, papa roach etc on both my Xbox and MP3 player and watching shows like jackass, dirty Sanchez, strutter, scarred (back when MTV was good), different times from then since a lot will always change with time but it's good to look back at the good times(not all was good though) and it always makes me smile but there is more memories to be made.

My idea is about to make SpongeBob SquarePants (Hillenberg era) more ratings, then check out the deleted scenes from seasons 1-3, make sure you put deleted scenes on these episodes to make them uncut.I imagine if SpongeBob would aired on MTV instead of Nickelodeon and later ended up after the first movie.

Almost anything 80's, 90's and 90's alternative rock. I've seen Taylor and Ed in concert and they're both amazing! I really want to see limp bizkit, Alanis morrisette and the rolling stones in concert this summer!
I really love watching SNL. Some of my fav improv stars are Robert Smigel/ triumph the inslt comic dog, Paul Rubens, Jennifer Coolidge, Bill Murray, John candy and Dan akroyd. My fav TV shows are SNL(;of course), American greed , Wiley Coyote/ roadrunner or yogi bear cartoons!
I am single, never married no kids. I'm a polite, clean, considerate and compassionate guy. I love to laugh and have a good sense of humor! Hopefully being funny will help me with improv! A lot of people judge me but beyond my quirkiness and weirdness lol is a really awesome guy with an even more awesome personality! I tend to think that I'm "smarter than the average bear" cause I'm smarter than most people think I am.
