For a first boot, he honestly didn't seem super incompetent in comparison to other first boots from previous seasons (nothing remotely close to the likes of Tavon or Chrissa). At the very least, he was astronomically fucking up with actually cooking food at his station.
I think the main things that led to his downfall were
1) The rookie roster being generally stacked as hell. 2) Being an owner, I imagine he wouldn't have been on a line in a while (generally out of practice) and at best he would just be managing the quality control at his restaurant.

The Associated Press called the race for Scott at 11:24 p.m. Taking the stage minutes later at his South Baltimore election night party, Scott thanked Dixon for running a hard-fought campaign, but said it was time to “turn the page.”
“I think it’s safe to say we’re destined for a second term,” Scott said, prompting loud applause from a celebratory crowd.
Dixon, who left her party before 11 p.m., said before her departure that the race was too close to call.
After Scott declared victory, Dixon spokesman Luca Amayo said that “regardless of how the votes fall, there will always be people in the city who consider Sheila Dixon the forever mayor of Baltimore.”
The race pitted the first-term Scott against Dixon, the city’s mayor of three years, in a rematch of the 2020 contest that put Scott in office. Both are Democrats.
This time, the field was half the size of the crowded 2020 race and the upper tier of candidates shrank. Former prosecutor Thiru Vignarajah dropped out of the race in the first week of May, less than 24 hours ahead of the start of early voting. Businessman Bob Wallace, an independent candidate for mayor in 2020, ran this time as a Democrat, but failed to gain traction.
Returns from the early voting period, mail-in ballots cast ahead of the election, and almost all of the city’s 295 precincts showed Scott with 50.9% of votes cast to Dixon’s 41.3% — a difference of about 6,200 votes. Vignarajah, who exited the race too late to remove his name from the ballot, still received 3% of the preliminary vote. The returns do not include at least 13,500 mail-in ballots that have yet to be counted by the Baltimore Board of Elections.
When early returns first became public, Dixon jumped to an early lead. However, Scott quickly became the frontrunner and continued to widen his margin Tuesday night as additional returns from primary day were posted.
Cheers broke out at Scott’s party at Baltimore Peninsula earlier Tuesday as initial returns hit two television screens showing Scott slightly ahead of Dixon. Diana Turner danced joyfully as video clips of Scott played on the newscasts. Turner admitted she was unnerved to see the numbers so close between Scott and Dixon, but said she learned from Scott’s previous campaign that initial figures don’t tell the whole story.
“It’s going to fluctuate depending on where the polls are,” she said.
Dixon supporters said they expected the race to be close and the early returns gave them hope that she could, unlike last time, end up victorious.

Scott touted the city’s reduction in homicides in 2023 — fewer than 300 people were killed for the first time in nearly a decade. Dixon argued Scott focused only on the homicide rate, allowing quality-of-life crimes to go unaddressed and chasing residents from the city.
Scott, 40, and Dixon, 70, represent different generations of City Hall leadership, but at times, their plans converged. Dixon’s crime plan, rolled out in January, called for a focused deterrence model of policing which would attempt to identify violent offenders and offer social supports in an effort to redirect them. Scott implemented a similar program, known as the Group Violence Reduction Strategy. That approach, piloted in the Baltimore Police Department’s Western District and since expanded, aims to intercept those vulnerable to becoming shooters or victims and provide social supports. The mayor credits it in part for the reduction in homicides.
Both Scott and Dixon’s housing plans call for tax increment financing or “TIFs” to be used in various neighborhoods to address vacant properties.
Dixon and Scott opted to cast their ballots in person Tuesday morning, Dixon near her Hunting Ridge home in West Baltimore and Scott in his Northeast Baltimore neighborhood. Dixon said she was “at peace” as she entered her polling place at Thomas Jefferson Elementary. Scott carried 5-month-old son, Charm Scott, nestled in a car seat into his polling place at Engine House 56.
Some heavy-hitters threw their support behind both candidates, wagering political capital on the close race. Democratic State’s Attorney Ivan Bates joined Dixon’s cause, endorsing the former mayor and calling Scott out for what Bates said was a lack of partnership between the prosecutor’s office and Scott’s City Hall. Sheriff Sam Cogen, too, said Scott has failed to be a partner to his office.
U.S. Sens. Ben Cardin and Chris Van Hollen both backed Scott, as did numerous unions that represent city employees. Some, like the unions representing the city’s firefighters, took shots at Dixon’s treatment of the fire department during her time in office. Unions backed a PAC that supported Scott with voter outreach and online advertising.
Scott led in fundraising and spending, dropping almost $1 million on the contest since the start of the year. Dixon has spent $653,100 since January. A PAC supporting Dixon’s campaign (funded in large part David Smith, a co-owner of The Baltimore Sun and chairman of Sinclair Broadcasting Group) supplemented Dixon’s effort, running ads that tried to paint Scott as an inexperienced leader. Scott’s ads sought to remind residents of Dixon’s criminal past. She was forced to leave office in 2010 after an embezzlement conviction.

Running his fourth campaign for citywide office in the last seven years, Vignarajah threw his support to Dixon after conversations with the camps of both leading contenders. Dixon said no deal was made with Vignarajah for a job, although she declined to discuss potential positions in her administration that he may have suggested. Kind of long, but any advice or input would be greatly appreciated :)
I (22F) have been working in fast food/ retail since I was 17 and I’m finally ready to take that leap to leave my current job and find one that will help advance my career and give me at least some financial stability. I also live in NorCal for context (not sure if I’d be willing to move quite yet.) I’ve been at my current retail job since 2021 and was honestly just going to stay there until I was completely finished with college but I just received my AA and the current management im under is so difficult to work with and extremely offensive I can barely take it not to mention I’ve been in management for about 2 years now and have gone from at least 20hr a week (part time) to less than 10hr a week, less than some associates and they’re all 3 hour shifts so I’m not even allowed to take a 10min break though im not even sure if that’s legal??
I am very fortunate to not have to pay rent as I live with my parents and I only have to worry about paying for my car, gas, phone, school, necessity’s etc. So no rent is a life saver in this economy. With that being said I don’t necessarily need the highest paying job quite yet (willing to work my way up or gain helpful experience) though that would be ideal for anyone. I just want to be able to find something that fits with my personality/ needs and also doesn’t care the way I look. I know sometimes you have to do what u gotta do but I cannot take working somewhere I’m miserable at and I understand that is a privilege within itself so I’m just trying to use the time I do have to really find what I’m passionate about and not be scared to try new things.
I still want to go back to school to get my bachelors degree since it’s always been a dream of mine, but since I pretty much pay for everything out of pocket besides some degree of financial aide, I don’t want to just aimlessly transfer somewhere with no clue on what to study which has been my issues for some time. I feel like my interest haven’t changed much and neither have my dreams to further my education so I’ve pretty much been saying the same things since probably before high school and I still have no clue what exactly the direction is I should go. I would love to gain some first hang experience to know if getting my B.A. is even worth it for the field I want to go into or what major would benefit me the best.
I have many interests and ideas as to what I could possibly do but I feel like as much as I say them out loud no one really relates so I always feel alone or like there’s no possible job for me that I’ll feel happy in. I mean I think majority of people would rather not work and focus their lives on their hobbies and passions but unfortunately that’s not in the cards for most people and though I sometimes live in that dreamland that doesn’t change the fact that I’m extremely dedicated, hard-working and really want to make a difference in whatever field I end up in. So I guess I’ll leave a list of the things I’m interested in, in case anybody has some advice or input on any occupations I’ve listed or have experience in anything I’ve listed.
I guess another thing to mention is that I was recently applying to a lot of jobs in childcare and pretty much every interview I went to turn me down on the spot because of my appearance. Of course I hear the stories of looking less professional due to your tattoos, piercings, etc., which I never understand. I don’t even have a single tattoo or piercing, not even my ears, but I have bright pink hair and that has been such a downside for the interviewing processes, even some retail jobs like Box Lunch for example doesn’t accept colored hair when they’re literally a pop culture store and share the same company as Hot Topic. I don’t want to have to change my appearance for a job. I know it’s just hair but I was never able to express myself the way I wanted to and the amount of money and maintenance that goes with having colored hair would not be worth it to me to color black just to get a job. It would feel like I’m altering myself and changing something that makes me feel good about myself is unfair and already puts a bad taste in my mouth about the company because they are willing to look over my qualifications and work ethic due to one minor detail in my appearance. One of these jobs I even had two on the phone interviews that went amazing and was going to my final in person interview and was literally meeting with a family for a behavioral technician job and the first thing they (the company) told me was I would need to change my hair to even be considered and I had to eventually politely end the interview because they still wanted to me to meet a kid despite straight up telling me they will not hire me if I didn’t immediately change my hair… and I’d be working with a family, not even in a ‘ public setting.’ I would just love to be able to work in a community that embraces people for their differences for the way they express themselves, and encourages self expression.
Anyways, here are some of my interests and I’d be eternally grateful to hear any feedback! Maybe you’ve worked in some of these environments and have advice or horror stories, if you have similar interests to me let me know what kind of job you have because I’m sure I don’t even know the formal titles to half of these jobs, or even have other ideas that match my interests. Thank you thank you thank you!
My schooling/ experience so far: * 5 years of theatre under my belt (onstage/backstage/management) * Just graduated with my AA in Social & Behavioral Sciences (Random but was recommended to do so based on all of the same interest I told my counselor some odd years ago) * Most of my college classes were focused in sociology, psychology, and child development, which has been super interesting so I am willing to branch out from my interest because I did find a lot of interest in the classes I’ve taken previously. * Have worked in retail for four years; Pretty well received by people * A nanny to 4 kids (ages 4-16) for about 3.5 years as well
My personality: (not sure if this will help with knowing if I would be a good fit for any of the jobs listed )
i’m extremely bubbly and can have my extroverted moments, but I can also be introverted at times and when work needs to get done, I will figure out the best way to do it and get to work. I work pretty well with a team and always have ideas flowing and bouncing around, but I can also excel working on my own/have no issues being independent with my work. I don’t have a huge preference on a fast versus slow paced work environment. I would like something flexible, but I have no issue with getting into a routine. I feel like I am truly pretty flexible when it comes to my work environment, I just really want a place that I can express myself and be surrounded by a community of people similar to me. I love to be innovative and creative.

Of course I hear the stories of looking less professional due to your tattoos, piercings, etc., which I never understand. I don’t even have a single tattoo or piercing, not even my ears, but I have bright pink hair and that has been such a downside for the interviewing processes, even some retail jobs like Box Lunch for example doesn’t accept colored hair when they’re literally a pop culture store and share the same company as Hot Topic. I don’t want to have to change my appearance for a job. I know it’s just hair but I was never able to express myself the way I wanted to and the amount of money and maintenance that goes with having colored hair would not be worth it to me to color black just to get a job. It would feel like I’m altering myself and changing something that makes me feel good about myself is unfair and already puts a bad taste in my mouth about the company because they are willing to look over my qualifications and work ethic due to one minor detail in my appearance. One of these jobs I even had two on the phone interviews that went amazing and was going to my final in person interview and was literally meeting with a family for a behavioral technician job and the first thing they (the company) told me was I would need to change my hair to even be considered and I had to eventually politely end the interview because they still wanted to me to meet a kid despite straight up telling me they will not hire me if I didn’t immediately change my hair… and I’d be working with a family, not even in a ‘ public setting.’ I would just love to be able to work in a community that embraces people for their differences for the way they express themselves, and encourages self expression.
Anyways, here are some of my interests and I’d be eternally grateful to hear any feedback! Maybe you’ve worked in some of these environments and have advice or horror stories, if you have similar interests to me let me know what kind of job you have because I’m sure I don’t even know the formal titles to half of these jobs, or even have other ideas that match my interests. My schooling/ experience so far: * 5 years of theatre under my belt (onstage/backstage/management) * Just graduated with my AA in Social & Behavioral Sciences (Random but was recommended to do so based on all of the same interest I told my counselor some odd years ago) * Most of my college classes were focused in sociology, psychology, and child development, which has been super interesting so I am willing to branch out from my interest because I did find a lot of interest in the classes I’ve taken previously. * Have worked in retail for four years; Pretty well received by people * A nanny to 4 kids (ages 4-16) for about 3.5 years as well
My personality: (not sure if this will help with knowing if I would be a good fit for any of the jobs listed )
i’m extremely bubbly and can have my extroverted moments, but I can also be introverted at times and when work needs to get done, I will figure out the best way to do it and get to work. I work pretty well with a team and always have ideas flowing and bouncing around, but I can also excel working on my own/have no issues being independent with my work. I don’t have a huge preference on a fast versus slow paced work environment. I would like something flexible, but I have no issue with getting into a routine. I feel like I am truly pretty flexible when it comes to my work environment, I just really want a place that I can express myself and be surrounded by a community of people similar to me. I love to be innovative and creative.
My interests/ ideas: (sorry kinda random and jumps around)
- always wanted to be a nanny or travel nanny; to work with one specific family and grow with them
- Pre-k - 1st grade teacher; I find teaching younger kids really fulfilling, love crafts/ activities/planning, extremely patient
- Art teacher (i love ceramics, but pretty much any type of art would be so cool to incorporate creativity with teaching)
- Child advocate (possibly on movie and tv sets)
- Teacher on movie and television sets
- Directing or any sort of behind the scenes job for movies and television (I love to write and create concepts, costuming, sets, music, casting)
- Set designer for movies, television, or theater
- Costume designer for movies, television, or theater
- Possibly work with an acting company backstage (I don’t even know if that’s a job but possibly a permanent backstage role somewhere)
- Open my own curated thrift shop or a shop in general that is really creative or theme oriented
- Have a small bakery business or just a business in general, I love the idea of being able to run a company or brand that’s inclusive and creative
- I do love to bake and Decorate desserts
- Creative Director; photographer, videographer; I just love the thought of creating things and bringing concepts together, planning, etc.
- Magazine company?
- Wedding planning/party and event planning; again, I just like bringing things together I feel like I have an eye for aesthetics
- Something with marketing or managing

Pleasantly surprised by how much I liked this one. The storyline is essentially “rich kids beat up on poor kids” a lot, so it’s pandering to the (now insufferable) “eat the rich” bandwagon that has gotten pretty extreme on some fringes, so I was a bit wary of it. However, I would be not at all surprised to hear that it won Best Musical.
The set: Pretty cool. They entire thing appears to take place in a junkyard, with a car that stays onstage the entire time. At times the audience was asked to imagine that the car was a bed or other furniture. When they were at a drive in, they just lifted the hood and put a sign that said “concession stand.” The only time that I was confused was when they wanted to portray someone in a hospital, they did it by just putting boards on top of stacked tires. I was confused about where we were. Since it was someone who was in trouble with the law, I thought that they might have been taking care of him in someones shed or something. You were supposed to understand it was a hospital by his clothing I guess, but that wasn’t clear enough for me until later dialogue. Also, the stage was covered with faux gravel. Definitely a cool effect, but I wondered if the front row was just a big splash zone. Also most of the actors were wearing pants, but not all! The spin on the knees…ouch.
Choreo: They absolutely deserved their nom here. There are a lot of fight scenes, which I am typically not a fan of, but they did a great job. I don’t know if I would ever describe a fight scene as beautiful but here we are. They were masterfully choreographed, and tight. Some of the other dance scenes were innovative and interesting, particularly the one with boards spinning around in the church. I can’t overstate how excellent I thought it was. The rumble itself was also a piece of choreographic art, and the entire cast was in lockstep during it. It was well done. I will say, one moment during the rumble reminded me powerfully of the apex of the Sleep No More orgy. Let me know if anyone else thought same or if I’m just nuts.
Lighting: I would not be surprised if they win lighting, though I haven’t seen Illinoise. It was absolutely a strong part of the storytelling, especially with the fighting/blackout scenes. I loved when they let you know you were at train tracks, with no change to the set, but a spotlight ripped across the stage and train sound effects. It was a joy to observe how they used lighting.
Score There is one moment in Great Expectations that much of the greasers come on with absolutely spine-tingling harmonies. My first thought was “this is why you go to a live show”. That moment was simply delicious, and it is very much worth seeing live. It’s hard to imagine that the moment could hit you like that on a recorded piece of media. That said, I did not walk out of there with any particular desire to hear any of the songs again. Even the “great expectations” reprise disappointed me - they just sang “great expectations” over and over again and I deeply wanted them to have some kind of impactful line in there instead. Given how powerful the rest of the show is, I’m probably missing out. If people want to tell me what their favorite songs are from that show, I’ll give it a listen.
Costumes: Fine, not much to say here.
Book: Fine? I was neither impressed nor disappointed, and I didn’t notice it while I was watching the show, so probably fine. I wished that the older brother character had been a little stronger (or at least I wish they’d punched it a bit more when he showed up at the rumble, because that was a pivotal moment for that character). I also wasn’t invested in Dallas’s arc. given recent politics, I did think it wise for them to for change his suicide to “jumping in front of a train” instead of “death by cop”, as it was in the novel. These are sort of nitpicks though. I wasn’t a fan of the narration, but it grew on me, especially the way it was used during the fight scenes.
Vocals: The person who made me sit up in my seat was Jason Schmidt/Darrel Curtis. I remember feeling meh on the lead, Brody Grant.

I think that was probably the point. Anyway, this definitely meets the criteria of a spectacle, and I would be happy to send broadway first-timers here.

Did I think about it a lot after?: I’ve started evaluating shows this way since A Slave Play and Lempicka, both of which I thought about and talked about a lot. It’s not a show that I am yearning to see again, and it didn’t bring up anything for my mind to chew on later.
Overall I would consider it one of the stronger shows this season, and it’s on my recommendation list for the “what should I see” posts. I’m glad I saw it, but I’m not super interested in seeing it again (if I see a show and love it, I drag my theater-tolerating fiance there). My fiance will probably not see this one. I've been doing best and giving efforts, but the no. of deal closures I have are super low. Almost at the bottom of the team's leader board.
They said I need to achieve 15 targets by Monday, otherwise I'm out. What the fuck? My dad said they are bulshitting me because they don't want to pay the salary and are looking for a way to not pay me. My dad, has spent 30+ years in Sales and I assume he has a good idea about this.
It's an internship for a month, and they are putting so much pressure on us. I've never felt so pressured in my entire life. I feel like I'm stressing a lot about this and I shouldn't.
At least they should give leeway since we are interns? Many other interns in the team are performing well. Maybe I am not because I value my free time too? These people are selling on the field post 9 and 10 in the night, and I don't do that.
Also, the areas I have covered are more saturated, so now I'm going to be moving out of this area and going to other places in the city.
Are they right to say "we will take a hard call if you don't achieve the target by this day"? They can't just fire me right? They can "ask me to leave" but I won't resign by myself. They dare not try to withhold my salary payment in spite of all my efforts.
Maybe sales is not for me? This is a super difficult internship and I had taken it up to experience it. But all these targets and other people performing well....

I lost my best buddy of 15 years a couple months ago. I am still not over the loss. He was a rescue bichon named Sawyer. We got him when I was 12 years old. He was the only dog my dad wasn’t allergic to. Early in his life he almost didn’t recover from a sudden medical emergency but he recovered and lived a full life.
He began to decline with a loss of hearing, vision, and worsening arthritis and senility about a year ago.
We were at a point where he was sleeping 22 hours a day, just eating and doing his business and nothing else. He couldn’t even walk anymore which was his favorite thing. And when he was up he would just walk in circles and had difficulty standing and balancing - sometimes falling over and spazing. He really began to decline in his last few months.
So in mid February we decided to take him to the vet. We asked the vet if there was anything else we could maybe do instead of putting him down. We had gone through so many medications with him. But there was nothing left we could do. He continued to decline. After talking with the vet with my mom - she turned to me to ask what we should do. And I made the decision to put him down. We held him and sang to him as he drifted off into sleep peacefully.
But months later I still feel racked with guilt for making the decision. I feel like I killed him. I know in my head that it had to be done. But there is a small part of me that just wonders if I could’ve done more. Or maybe if I had waited, he could have passed on his own time.
I cannot get the image of the doctor pushing the sedative in the catheter out of my head as Sawyer fell asleep. I felt like I’ve been punched in the gut when I remember the doctor saying his heart was still going, only for the vet to make one last push of the sedative. Like his body was still clinging to life. I feel so awful. And I miss him so much.

Hey! I just thought I’d post maybe I’ll learn something I didn’t know about since this is all new to me. I’ve been working at this franchise for a little over 7 years now. About 5 years ago the owner was joking around that one day I’ll own it because I’ve been her best employee she’s ever had. That joke became more common and I became more interested learning how to actually operate more and more of the store. Well 2 weeks ago I had a talk with the owners and they broke down the financials for me (which I mainly know because I have access to that as the manager) and what it would cost to buy it from them. It would be $550,000 for this store. The store brought in just shy of $680,000 last year and I’m projecting it will make ~$710,000 this year. The owner takes home about $120,000-$140,000. They would want $100,000 down so $450,000 loan at 7% for 7 years which is very reasonable I feel. The thing is I’m 27 and I have no access to that kind of money and I don’t have the $250,000 in collateral they would want. Corporate for this franchise would need $75,000 in liquid assets and $250,000 in collateral.

Hello reddit, I'm using an expendable account so as to not have my name tied up in this for embarrassment sake.
I'm 20 and male. I met a girl a little over a month ago and we started dating and having sex. We dated about a month before it became blaringly obvious this wasn't gonna work out. She started her last period (menstrual) on the 24th of april and it ended on the 28th. The last time we had sex was the 28th after bleeding stopped.
Fast forward to May 12th, exactly two weeks since we had sex and her menstrual ended, I receive a text saying "hey OP! hope everything is well, just so you know i'm taking a pregnancy test today because i missed my last period, and i figured i should tell you because you were the last person i slept with. i'll let you know how it goes". I call her and ask her how she's missing her period since she just had her last one two weeks ago and while dating she told me she had normal routine periods. She tells me her app says she's 3 days late.
She takes a pregnancy test. A clearblue brand one with the blue plus and it comes back negative with a very very very slight positive line, however the test window is super yellow. Like it looks like an old test yellow. I ask her if she has another and she says she's out and then a minute later texts and says she all of a sudden found an extra. She takes it 10 or so minutes after the alleged first one and jt comes back completely negative but this time the test looked normal. The window was white.
A series of conversations have occured since then and I will summarize some suspicious topics overall:
-She texts me on mothers day (May 12) about possibly being pregnant
-she texts me that she has a suspicion, before she even took a test
-claims she's 3 days late 14 days since her last period ended. -the first test is super yellow and looks like an old test with an evap line and yellowing
-i wore a condom, she claims she has an iud, and I didn't finish in.... so I don't understand how this could even be possible
-says she doesn't have a second test and then suddenly finds one
-she held me on the phone call regarding the possible pregnancy and discussed our relationship and got me to apologize about it ( I mean I apologized naturally but I think thats what she wanted)
-she adds me back on snapchat out of the blue today (may 14th)
-I ask her to keep me updated on period. She texts the next day and says she started cramping pre menstual but then today she texts me out of the blue and tells me she was blackout drunk last two weekends and is worried. She then tells me she stopped cramping today and might not be having a period.
I'm absolutely petrified that she's pregnant, but obviously with how safe we were that seems to be impossible and the timing of her cycle. Nonetheless running through every scenario in which it could have happened. Everyone in my life thinks she's seeking attention or trying to get back with me and there's no way she's pregnant. But I'm not entirely sure. Looking for someone on here to weigh in. Much appreciated.

I've dated my boyfriend for 3 years. We lived together, we went through so much together. it wasn't just a relationship, he was like family to me. I broke up with him during our second year due to me finding him flirting with a girl at a bar. Then he ended up begging me to take him back; he said how I'm the woman of his life and how we have such bond and connection. I'll admit, yes, he was the love of my life and vice versa. I don't feel like I'll love anyone else in my life as much as I loved him, because our love was so pure; my love for him was, and still is unconditional. It's hard to put into words but it just feels like our inner childs connect and we share so much with each other. We know everything about each other and that always brought me a sense of comfort. I ended up taking him back because I didn't want to make such big deal out of just flirting for female validation.
However, it always felt like he wanted the best of both worlds. He wanted to have me committed to him, staying at home, have no male friends, while he could just get out to bars and even not text me sometimes for the whole night. I gave a lot of what he did to his age at the time, he was 21-22.
After putting the puzzle together though, I realized that he was and is super insecure. He wanted constant validation from family, friends, me, and apparently other females to keep going and pushing. He never really liked his body while liking his overall stylish look. But never with his body underneath. The interesting part is, he didn't really workout and he would put junk food into his body and then internally cry about the results not being there, since he is not his 17 year old self who burned so many calories naturally without having to do anything. I would encourage him to come to the gym with me and he did at times, but he was always grumpy when a topic about working out was being talked about.
He also had an avoidant attachment style. He would run away if there was a need of emotional vulnerability. I believe that's how he coped with things when his parents got a divorce; he was only 6.
Anyways, after taking him back, I went to my home country and he came to visit in between my visit to get a good taste of where I grew up in. (it was his first time visiting overseas.) We had a blast time. I stayed longer so he came back and was by himself, mainly with his friends. I didn't question him much when i was there because I wanted to give him space while I took mine, we were in touch though, just not as regularly.
I got back, he picked me up from the airport and had something going on with him. He did not seem happy to see me. Long story short, he broke up with me for bullshit reasons and I couldn't just let him go because it was very unexpected and unbelievable. I saw him multiple times and in all of those conversations, he was so cold. Cold to a point where I questioned who I was dating. And on my last conversation, he admitted that he cheated on me when I was back home.
I didn't say much, I was disgusted. I let him go. 7 months after no-contact, he texted me to give me my stuff back. I sent someone to take them and they came back with a letter from him...
You can probably imagine what the letter says. It was three pages long, majority of what he addressed was a loving goodbye while confessing his love over and over again. He addressed how much he regrets this betrayal and how he is aware of him being a broken person who needs therapy.
3 weeks after receiving his letter, I decided to see him in person to give this an end fully. I didn't want any more love letters or anything, I was logically done and I had to see him because I gradually got worse as the days went by. As soon as I saw him, I melted. I noticed how much I was sick of trying to move on and date other people. I missed our connection, love, affection, and our lovey-dovey times. I missed him so much to a point where I forgot where I was or what time it was, I never wanted to leave or give it an end right there. He also have lost the 20 pounds he was upset over for years.
Now, I have been talking to him for 3 weeks or so. He's been showing the commitment and consistency towards his own workout routine and healthy eating. He said things like, " I told you so many times before that I felt like I didn't deserve you, but now I feel like I do." "I will show you through my actions, just wait and see. Give me a chance to just be in your life." "I love my body now and I only need your validation to feel handsome, you are the one."
He cried so many times for hours and I have never seen him as emotionally vulnerable and open. He really seems like he wants to work on himself and his overall health. (In all aspects.) He really has been showing so far how much he wants to change his life for the better and for himself, not just for me. it doesn't feel like it's only for me because I saw him not committing to his routine one time and it kills him mentally, he needs to be on track with the promises he makes to himself, it seems.
He recently moved to another state, for the sake of growth and him wanting to get out of his hometown. I don't know what that will bring, but I'm trying to do my own thing. He talks to me like how we used to talk and I don't know how to find the balance because he was the most important person in my life for a long time.
I have hope for him, I want him to be happy regardless. But I'm so confused. I feel betrayed every time i'm not with him. When I'm with him, he is my person. But when I come home or we're apart for couple days, I think of everything and just get disgusted.
I feel emotionally weak right now so if and/or when I make a logical decision of letting him go for the better, it stabs me mentally and I feel like I'm dying, so I know I'll be crawling back to him and that'd be even more embarrassing. Also, letting go of him seems hard because I am almost so sure that I won't be able to fall in love with someone as much as I fell in love with him. I'm not saying that I won't at all, but I just know internally that I won't love someone else as deeply and unconditionally. We have so many memories together and I feel like he is my family. Our physical attraction is so on point. I know he didn't do this because of me or the relationship because I think it was beautiful and every problem could be solved if we just talked.
Other option is to stay with him to let him prove everything to me and see if I want to be in a relationship with him again, but in that case, will I respect myself? Will I actually forgive him for what he did and everything he put me through? Can I ever build that trust with him again? Will he actually develop himself and grow for himself? Am I willing to take the risk of him cheating on me again? Will I be happy with him, knowing what he did to me? (I feel like if he did it again, it'd be easier to move on, but what do I know.)
This is also a topic of morals, ethics, and values aligning or not in a relationship. I would just never cheat on someone simply because that's not within my character and I never even thought of it as an option due to my ethics, morals, and values. But obviously, that's not the case for him.
Would I rather take the risk of moving on with my life, letting this love go and potentially compare every new person or relationship to my connection with him, or would I rather go down on a path where I might never feel that safety and loyalty from him and also live with the thought of accepting such behavior that my morals are so against towards.
There is also another flip side to the coin where, everyone has the capability of cheating and I know there are 7.9999 billion people who didn't do that to me yet, but can this be forgiven for the sake of this unknown phenomenon that applies to everyone else also?
This a battle of my logic and my heart. One thing I wrote is "Is it worth to let go of love, for the sake of self-respect?"
