A gaming sub free from the news, hype and drama that surround current releases, catering instead to gamers who wait at least 12 months after release to play a game. Whether it's price, waiting for bugs/issues to be patched, DLC to be released, don't meet the system requirements, or just haven't had the time to keep up with the latest releases.
This community is based on the sharing of music made with Chrome Music Lab’s Song Maker. Song Maker is a free online basic music creation tool that is easy to use. This sub is dedicated to sharing Song Maker songs.
In this regard I am here to share my recent experience working in The Netherlands for recruitment agencies (uitzendbureaus) and for @HORECA. Namely I had been touch with WeAreKey BV about a front desk agent (receptionist) position in Texel at the newly opened Hotel Brasserie Den Burg, located in DenBurg an island of The North of Netherlands. The position was advertised both on LinkedIn and the WeAreKey website overall Indeed, which was the perfect offer I have read so far. A fulltime stable contract (not the mainstream 0 hour that Horeca employers give which just ensures to vegetate but not live or take a rental contract) and so this place had even offered accommodation, which is an important aspect since the overall housing crisis has left professionals homeless. I applied on the 30th of April, and haven’t heard anything back until the 8th of May when we had the first interview online. Then I provided heaps of references. I was delighted that I finally found the opportunity to get back on track. After receiving that I am hired on the 27th of May, I gained access to the Mews (PMS system) with the hotel and I completed their internal trainings. Just after receiving my certificate about the course the manager (who turned to be the new hotel-owner) decided to not continue with me due less experience than colleagues when I already had been offered the position and I already began the process of moving on to my new job. The hotelmanager named Cheng Hsu in a less than 10 minutes quick meeting decided I haven’t got enough experience to check - in and out the guests and have a pleasant conversation with them after 2,5 years of being in the hotel industry in same position with references from my previous employers. It would’ve been accepted however I have sent all my references, all my documents to Nadja Carrillo the director of the recruitment agency and she allegedly accepted my application. We stopped the process, because of the owner of the hotel that didn’t find me sympathetic enough to work with. Not to mention the hotel was still not open when I applied and she reached me out for the second time: first time she wrote on Indeed that the position is filled, then she texted me that it is still open due some unknown sudden changes (which was already suspicious enough to have doubts inside me) but I trusted in the chilean woman. I don’t understand what has happened but I clearly got scammed. After Cheng Hsu cancelled me - as proud Chinese member of the 21.century’s cancel culture immediately after the meeting I called Nadja, who even told me that I might could have been a housekeeper but of course after all I would’ve never humiliated myself so bad and my nationality. I lost my current position, my entire life in The Netherlands once again and my references will not give me more references because of this situation. Clearly I wasn’t smart enough to see the red flags with the company. If a person is hired via email by a company that’s serious and means willingness to work together from both parties. There is no such a thing as cancelling each other especially the company cannot disrespect people like me: migrants that came to make a living and already struggle a lot due to the current housing crisis and lack of support, high inflation and from all the negative circumstances around. Unfortunately this is legal in The Netherlands, there is no measurement against scammers that allegedly hires you, ask you to do training and meetings with them for completely free and steals your ID, bank account details and tax numbers. Then telling you sorry but we don’t plan to hire you anymore. It took me two months to settle myself down with them, after heaps of references and see the fact is I have nothing: NADA! So dear native Spanish speakers who come to The Netherlands, please do not make a mistake like me to trust in Nadja Carrillo and her establishment called WeAreKey.
2024.06.09 18:55 SpankyMcCrackenChess is a strategy game for babies
Alright, SOMEBODY needs to say it. Chess is a game for babies - it shouldn't even be classified as a strategy game anymore. It's just a simple pattern recognition game of who has a better memory. It's a static board with static units - there's nothing interesting about it. It's just a poorly designed game in general because every interesting variation has already been explored. It's so easy that there are computer programs that can beat the best players. Like I can literally beat Magnus Carlsen and all I need is Hans Niemann sending me Stockfish moves via my remotely controlled anal beads. If all I need to beat your best is to stick something up my ass - it isn't a very good strategy game. I know many of you have devoted your lives to this terrible game and are getting upset by my condescending word choices. That's fine. I don't really care about you people - but for the people who are curious about an actually fun strategy game: I recommend a free mobile game called Uniwar on both iOS and Android that basically no one has heard of. It also happens to be coming out on Steam soon. Uniwar is to Chess in the same vein of what Chess is to Checkers. It's basically if Starcraft and Chess had a hexagon shaped baby. There are three races with unique playstyles, and you manage an income while controlling armies in a turn based strategy format to dominate your opponent in a battle of wits - no pay to win gimmicks - only using dynamic strategy that changes every single game because the map pool is so huge, you'll almost never have repeat matches. So who am I? I'm what you get if you combine Magnus Carlsen from Chess with Serral from Starcraft 2. I am SpankyMcCracken AKA The Art of Uniwar and I literally wrote the book on the game in order to have more competition, but no one can defeat me and I'm getting bored. I have two separate accounts I reached rank 1 in the game on with the second account having a 112-2 record while playing as "random" on my path to getting rank 1 again, so I don't want to hear any whining about balance - I won 100 games in a row playing as random - you just suck at the game. I guarantee no Gen Z kid could beat my superior Millennial ass brain - your attention spans are too short and you have no chance. No one from Chess can beat me - there's no engine you can study or use to cheat, and you'll have to actually learn how to use your brain to think on the fly. No one from Starcraft can beat me because you're too used to clicking 1000 buttons per second while simultaneously adjusting strategies based on real time scouting and dynamically responding to what your opponent is doing with extreme precision...(actually you guys might be able to beat me if I'm being honest). Uniwar has a small, extremely devoted international community of misfits, but they're my people and we will fuck you up. There may only be 300 of us left, but we are 300 Spartan Uniwarriors with the high ground on the leaderboard. Think you have what it takes to beat me? Meet me in the Basement chatroom and see what happens.

2024.06.09 18:49 elephantsmailzName change within a year after naturalization?
I was recently naturalized last August. I requested a name change during the naturalization process, but the officer who interviewed me said there wasn't going to be a judge at the oath-taking ceremony that day, so asked if I wanted to wait till after naturalization to seek the name change. I distinctly remember that he told me I can seek a name change through the local court for free within one year after naturalization. Since I was under a time crunch for travel reasons, I decided to hold off on the name change and be sworn in right away. Fast forward to now - I am in the process of requesting a name change via my local court. I don't see a fee waiver related to naturalization. The only thing I can find online regarding "free" name change is with the US passport, which I can request for a new one within a year of the last issued one with the passport fees waived. Does anyone have insight as to what the officer said about free name change one year after naturalization? Also welcome any advise regarding the name change process e.g. what documents to change, in what order, how many certified copies to request from court. I did some reading online and read through some reddit posts, and am thinking to request 3 certified copies, and currently leaning towards not requesting an updated naturalization document with my preferred name. Thanks!!
2024.06.09 18:49 ContributionChance85How do you cope (16M)
I’m 16, been in foster care/ living with family for a year now. I’ve run away or been kicked out of every family member’s house except for my cousin’s, where I am rn. My mom severely physically and psychologically abused me for my entire life. Was already in the foster system once, but some idiot gave us back. She used to find any excuse to belt whip, sometimes in the face, usually with the metal end. She beat me buddy with her bare hands multiple times. I had no phone(couldn’t ask for help that way). I had no internet. I never got to go to school and am in 9th grade now as a result. I was isolated from everything and everyone except her cult church that encouraged all these behaviors. The things she said to me, I’d rather not say. The somehow it seems the only escape I can find from my pain, which I’m guessing is a result of being trapped with her for so long, is to get high. Anything I can get my hands on, meth, painkillers, weed and alcohol, psychedelics, cocaine, adhd pills, etc. I’ve done them all and they fill that hole, that longing to not be in reality any more. I feel so free when I’m high, like a little bird resting on a cloud. How do you all cope? TL;DR: I use drugs to cope. What do you do?
2024.06.09 18:47 Some_Professional_33Responding to criticism in r/business
Hey fellow plutocrats! Hope your portfolios are booming and your evenings are filled with fine dining! I wanted to share some responses to the comments made under my post on business. It’s been an interesting ride, and I appreciate all the engagement, even the critiques. Here are some key points I addressed: Critic: Was neo-feudalism already taken? Plutocract: I don't want the sub to be associated with aristocracy, as it's inherently different and doesn't require any hereditary "right-to-rule". In plutocratic we believe in self achieved upwards mobility and in the power of individual over their own fate. While we recognise that not everyone is in favourable condition in their life, we also recognise that no individual should be coerced into giving up their wealth to make another person succeed. Critic: I didn't know hating poor people was its own political ideology Plutocrat: It's not about hating poor people lol, I actually frequently donate to private charities and support good will. It's just about me not wanting to be coerced into having to pay for someone I don't know Critic: And you think poor people can just make themselves more money without help? Plutocrat: Well my opinion is it's not my problem. I sincerely feel sorry for people who are "poor" but that doesn't mean that I am obliged to be helping them out. Critic: Would your distaste for coercion extend to forcing people to work for the money they need to live? Plutocrat: No one can be forced into labour. plutocratic stands against coercion into performing labour of any kind. Even so, in plutocratic we don't believe that free market facilitates coercion into labour and individuals have a choice to not participate in the market though off grid living and subsistence farms for example. Critic: The choices for poor people are be a wage slave, or starve to death.... You just lack empathy. And like seeing your bank account grow for no reason while children starve. You are an asshole. Plutocrat: In plutocratic we believe in family values and that each individual is supposed to take care of themselves and their family. Now other members of the society is of no concern to the individual and in an effective plutocratic society each individual is taken care of by their close peers and reciprocates. Critic: Why do you believe this is a good system of government? Plutocrat: Plutocrats believe that wealthy individuals have proven themselves to be good decision makers and therefore have more right to vote and voice in government than others. plutocratic also believes that since wealthy people posses more capital the cumulative effect of policies is nominally more largely distributed on themselves and therefore their burden is higher. This has some limitations when wealth was accumulated due to inheritance and not all plutocrats agree with each other on how exactly inheritance should be taken into the equation when it comes to voting. Critic: I took a look and it's seems like alot of uneducated opinions that are not based in fact. I believe all people are created equal and your sub does not. Plutocrat: plutocratic believes that all people are born equal, however as they age their actions and achievements dictate their value and therefore not everyone is an equitable contributor to the society. Hope this clarifies some issues regarding what exactly plutocratic stands for, please remember that these beliefs don’t apply to all plutocrats and that each plutocrat may have a different stance on specific issue or its implementation.
2024.06.09 18:45 hen-rexUnable to obtain Site ID, open Support Request, download software, edit profile info
I am a VMware Consumer user, and never got any information other than I had to create a new Broadcom profile. Nothing works now, unsurprisingly, in this obviously untested migration process. I say this as a QA/tester, who has worked on many large migrations professionally. Today, I tried updating my Fusion Player installation. The update failed due to some SSL certificate error to the update servers. I thought it was probably related to this migration process. Then I read online that I can now upgrade for free from Fusion Player to Fusion Pro. "All I need to do" is update the application and remove my license key - but only removing said license after updating to 13.5.2 - not before. Updating... which I am unable to... Then I went to the Broadcom Portal to download the latest version. However, I cannot download the latest software as I need to accept some conditions where I must enter my personal info. My name is prefilled from my VMware profile, and that particular field cannot be edited. When submitting said form, I am told my name contains invalid characters. I am unable to edit said field, but I can edit all other fields in the form. I then visit the Profile Overview to edit my name. However, I am unable to edit my name as that is apparently top-secret info. "All I need to do" to edit my name is to make a request. To make a request, I need to "Build My Profile". "All I need to do" to build my profile is a Site ID, which I do not have. Ok, I now find a place to automatically request my Site ID. "All I need to do" is fill in some info. Alas, that automatic page is under eternal maintenance. I need instead to open a request with the Wolken Team - a process that redirects me back to the eternal maintenance page from which I just came. Over and over. So, I guess Broadcom no longer wants people to use their products. That must be the logical conclusion to this process. And I hope the person who insisted that "we don't need to do any kind of testing before rolling this out" should be fired immediately. Thank you.

2024.06.09 18:41 No_Form9728My best friend ghosts me often and jokes about my death
I don't even know if I should be calling her a best friend. Tbh, it's been a struggle to introduce her as one. For some context, she has been in a shit workplace, where she was working overtime almost every weekend and late on Fridays. We currently live in the same house. I have been trying my best to give her advice, but she wouldn't take any of it and would end up learning it the hard way. I realized later that she doesn't ever really listen to me. She doesn't take any of my advice seriously. It was a bit disheartening, but I let it go because I understood the stress she was under. Once she finally realized she had to quit because the work was too hard on her body, she ending up staying extra and worked overtime for it (she didn't get paid for it). All because she felt bad for her colleague? I questioned her for it, and she ghosted/gave me the silent treatment for a few days. She does this often whenever I question or bring up something she did. It's always a mind battle for me. She even once ghosted me for 2 whole months all because she jumped to conclusions about a misunderstanding and couldn't even wait till morning to talk to me. Now that she is free from work, her body is crashing from days of no sleep. I wanted to encourage her to meet a friend who is leaving in a week, and she has agreed to it before. But after I managed to get her out of the house and meet our friends, she has been treating me badly again. I don't understand when this is what she wanted me to do. She would openly joke about wanting me dead, to fall off a mountain, or to crash into a car. Even if she was doing this from sleep deprivation, to only treat me like this was so heartbreaking. And this isn't the first time she's joked about my death. She used to say that she would dream about beating me up. I brought it up to her before and all she did was laugh it off saying it was a joke. But is this what a joke should be like? Even if it was dark? She knows I wasn't in a good mental state the past year. She only ever talks to me properly if I help her with work projects. I don't want to sound like I'm being ungrateful, but as much as I love the times we do get along, a lot of resentment builds up when she plays mind tricks on me like this. No matter who I bring this up to, no one takes me as seriously as I need them to. It's eating me away. I can't help but post this here, I am desperate for some advice. Thank you for reading if you've made it this far through my ranting 😭 I will probably delete this soon.
2024.06.09 18:37 zappy_77Update : Accidental come out.
After brainstorming for hours and recollecting my thoughts with 3,4 coming out videos as inspiration. I finally came out...... It was unusual feeling to do it. I asked her if she is free to help me . Yes she said. At first it was uneasy every time I decided to comeout all of sudden it felt like somebody is chocking me, words were not coming out of my mouth. So I started to talk about what she gonna cook for tomorrow's breakfast. She asked "what would you like to eat ". I didn't answer it. Then I asked, "what do you think about me ?". She said " do you want to speak about something? I asked , what do you think about what happened few hours ago, Do you have anything to say or ask. She asked, " What were you actually doing " , I camly said, ' mom, I'm bisexual, which means I like both girls and boys, i'm trying to tell you since 2015 but didn't know how would you react ' To which softly asked " Why won't you tell us " , I replied " People don't consider it as normal, parents send their kids to Physcologist or beat them or kill them and every possible worse " " It's not a mental problems, it's just who and what I'm, right now I'm in relationship with a boy but dont know about future. It's just me for now and future. Do you accept me ? " She said " It's really good that you understand yourself and it's your personal decision. We support you n love you " My mom is so simple that she didn't even know why this is considered wrong in society. She felt sad for keeping my feelings buried. She Firstly confused bisexuality with transgender and intersex. To which I explained her about lgbtqi+ community. Her voice was enough for my mind to loosen up and said it again " I'm bisexual and I was sending nudes to MY BOYFRIEND ". She again said that I didn't wanted to bother you but I already had realized that you wanted to comeout when I accidentally stepped in the room. My mom is from simple bg,but she likes to read about child psychologyl parenting and other well-being books. Now she took my credit card and ordered few PRIDE books and teasing me to bring my boyfriend for dinner or atleast wanna meet him. She asked if there are any movies about lgbtqi+, so now she is on s1e4 of HEARTSTOPPER I actually cried a lot during this and screamed a loudly in my garden " I'm bisexual, BISEXUAL " . Now my neighbours with good hearing also know that I'm bisexual. Thank you community for all moral boost in my previous post. This won't be possible without you all. This all felt like Netflix series. I LOVE YOU ALL 🤗🤗 ....
I wanted to share a project for intermediate HTML designers. I'll include the code and steps for each part. Please let me know if you have any questions!
Step 1: Setting Up The Project
Start by preparing your environment to develop an interactive photo gallery with HTML. If you want to dive straight in, I'd recommend following along with me using our online coding environments. We’ll use some JavaScript for this project, so I’d recommend using an online JavaScript compiler to build with. I will also outline the steps for you to create the necessary files and organize your workspace on your own computer. Just follow these, and you'll have a solid foundation for your project. i. Choose an IDE or Editor Before you start, choose an IDE or editor tailored for web development. I favor Visual Studio Code (VSCode). It's for HTML and CSS and a solid choice if you’d prefer to build on your own machine. ii. Install Necessary Plugins If you choose VSCode, consider installing VSCode extensions like "Live Server" to preview your HTML pages in real time and "Prettier" for code formatting. These tools will make your development process smoother and more efficient. iii. Create a New HTML Project Once your editor is set up, it's time to create a new project:
Open your editor and select the option to create a new project or folder.
Name your project folder something descriptive, like "InteractivePhotoGallery."
Inside this folder, create three files: index.html for your HTML content, styles.css for your CSS styles, and script.js for your JavaScript logic.
iv. Set Up a Basic HTML Structure Open your index.html file and set up a basic HTML structure. Here’s a simple template to get you started:
Interactive Photo Gallery Header content like a title or a navigation bar Gallery content will go here
Here's the compiler where you can try it. This is the basic structure every HTML project that uses JavaScript starts with. We've got our DOCTYPE, HTML tag, head section (with meta tags, title, and links to our CSS and JavaScript files), and the body where our content will go. This basic structure also introduces the JavaScript file linked with the defer attribute, ensuring it loads after the HTML content. v. Prepare for CSS and JavaScript Development Make sure your styles.css is linked correctly, and your script.js is set to load at the right time in your HTML file to start adding styles and functionality in the next steps. vi. Verify Project Setup To ensure everything is set up correctly, try opening your index.html with the Live Server plugin or directly in your browser. You should see a blank page with the basic document structure ready to be filled with content. And there you have it! You’ve successfully set up your environment to create an interactive photo gallery with HTML. Next, you'll create the HTML structure for your interactive photo gallery.
Step 2: Creating the HTML Structure
With your development environment ready, it’s time to construct the HTML skeleton of your interactive photo gallery. i. Create the Header Section The header will introduce your gallery. You might want to include a catchy title or a brief description:
My Photo Gallery
Explore my collection of high-quality images ranging from landscapes to portraits.
Caption for image 1
Repeat for other images
This sets the tone and context for the visitors of your gallery. ii. Set Up the Gallery Section This main part will hold all your images in a grid or other layout:
Caption for image 1
Repeat for other images
Replace "path-to-image-1.jpg" with the actual path to each image. Ensure that each image has an appropriate alt text for accessibility. iii. Include a Filter Section (Optional) If your gallery is large, consider adding filters to help viewers sort images by categories:
These buttons are set up to trigger JavaScript functions that will filter the gallery based on the category. iv. Add a Modal for Image Viewing (Optional) To enhance the interactivity, include a modal that opens when an image is clicked, allowing for a closer view:
×
This section will be controlled via JavaScript to display images dynamically when clicked. Here’s a summary of what we've accomplished in this step:
Structured the Page Content: Created distinct sections like the header and gallery, employing semantic HTML for better accessibility and SEO.
