I meal prepped one of my favourites šŸ˜
Chicken filets with veggies, stir fried! I was pleasantly surprised by the kcal and protein per serving šŸ˜‹
494g of chicken 800g of a thai veggie mix 1 tablespoon of olive oil 6 tablespoons of soy sauce 4 tablespoons of oyster sauce Some salt & black pepper on the chicken
I cooked the chicken first with oil/peppesalt, then took it out and cooked the veggies, added the sauces, then added the chicken back in briefly.
Re: the salt, doctor's orders to have more due to low bp, plus I love it! So reduce if you're watching your intake obviously šŸ˜

2024.05.16 15:42 the_actuary Do i need to start meds?

So here is the situation 35m Smoke - Never Alcohol - 1 pint every 2 weeks Not overweight Moderately active (7k average steps a day, cycle for a couple of hours per week at moderate speed) Eat balanced vegetarian diet, eggs for breakfast and salads for lunch most days. Dinner is not as healthy but neither unhealthy. Job - sometimes stressful but not more stressful than an average job like other people.
Blood test done - everything from glucose levels to kidney, liver, sodium, pottasium levels is fine and within range. Nothing borderline.
2 weeks ago got it checked randomly at a pharmacy and came out to be 155/115 and was urgently recommened to contact my doctor. Talked to the doctor and they recommended monitoring it for 5 days (as soon as i wake up and before sleeping). Average reading for the first week were 140/100. Contacted doctor and he recommended the blood test and said either start medicine now or keep monitoring for 2 weeks. Decided to monitor.
Blood test done - everything from glucose levels to kidney, liver, sodium, pottasium levels is fine and within range. Nothing borderline.
Average reading for the last 2 weeks has been 130/90 since.
I have stopped eating sugar salt and oil (processed food) and started working out more which I think resulted in a 10 point drop over 2 weeks. Doctor is saying its good progress but its still 10 point higher than 120/80 so I should start medicine.
I am quite lost and shocked to get BP at such young age and not having a very unhealthy lifestyle.
Can anyone suggest how can i improve so not to take medicine?

2024.05.16 09:28 AussieGirl2727 Help! Skincare schedule advice - closed comedones/pustules

Hi all!
I've been struggling with some very stubborn closed comedones/pustules on my chin/jaw area and a few smaller ones on my forehead.
I'll admit that I have previously fried my skin by trying to do too many things at once, or changing approaches before giving the current products the chance to work. Sorry! Don't come for me!
I've recently pulled right back, to let my moisture barrier heal itself, and now I'm hoping the power of Reddit can help me make a schedule for the products I have, so I don't fry myself again.
Here are my products that I have available (please note I don't expect to use them all, these are just what I have in my arsenal and looking for guidance):
Actives to target acne itself: - Clindamycin 1% topical lotion - TO Niacinamide 5% and Zinc 2% serum - Finacea Azelaic Acid 15% Cream * I would often layer the above 3 products and pull back on AA if I started to feel dry - Oxy5 Benzoyl Peroxide cream (only used a few times with Clindamycin. However the only slight improvement was seen when I added in this BP, but it's a bit harsh, so I've only used it a couple of times) - Differin Gel .01% - CeraVe salicylic acid Smoothing cleanser
Other products used for general skincare: - ANUA Heartleaf cleansing oil - dbl cleanse - CeraVe Foaming cleanser - dbl cleanse - The Ordinary Niacinamide 5% and Zinc 2% serum - The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid + B5 - Aloe Vera gel - Real U Green Serum - Real U spot treatment - Real U moisturiser - Tamanu oil - Argan oil - Beauty of Joseon SPF - Some By Mi - Miracle Toner
Now I know everyone is different, so I'm looking for help with a rough guide, and I'll monitor myself super closely and pull back on actives if I feel irritated.
May be useful to note I'm also on spironolactone and taking 30mg zinc twice daily.
Thank you to anyone who can help a sister out.
xx

2024.05.16 05:22 nilademon Has anyone successfully transferred from high blood pressure meds to supplements?

Iā€™m currently on 2 different blood pressure meds and they both caused me to gain weight and be severely lethargic. I feel like the meds are doing more harm than good but because my numbers are down my dr keeps me on them. Researched that d3, k2, fish oil and magnesium helps but Iā€™m too afraid to start weening myself off of the meds. Need to know if thereā€™s a stack that can naturally lower my bp so I can ditch the regulated poison thatā€™s been prescribed to me.

2024.05.15 17:30 flreln After ~3 years of no progress, I fully recovered in about eight weeks

Hey all!
After ~3 years of no progress, I fully recovered in about eight weeks. 97% of the symptoms are gone, including PEM, fatigue, MCAS reactions, and feeling sick most of the time. Iā€™m back to working 9-10h a day with superb cognitive output, training as hard as I can (i.e., 30min peloton 168 bpm, >10k steps a day, lots of bodyweight work during the day), and being truly myself. Gosh, Iā€™m feeling fucking blessed. Like I was asleep for 3y and finally woke up. I have SO MUCH energy. Started a new project, got back to writing essays, hanging out with friends, etc. Iā€™m fucking alive again!
Case summary:
Got a very mild Covid in the beginning of July 2021; didnā€™t even have fever but felt exhausted (i.e., struggled getting out of bed in the morning) and lost smell and taste; recovered in ~10 days; senses returned in ~2-3 weeks.
Developed neuro issues (cognitive PEM, difficulty thinking) and fatigue during acute covid, literally next day after exposure, and they never went away; this was my first long covid symptom.
Then kept developing more & more symptoms:
My major sX on March 2024 were:
  1. feeling and being sick most days (fatigue/ugh state, brain fog, reddish cheeks, sinus and ear Sx, sometimes cold sores)
    1. frequent (every month) sinus infections (very thick yellow mucus, severe cognitive dysfunction, sinus and ear Sx: pressure, congestion, postnasal drip, hot ears in the evening)
    2. persistent brain fog/cognitive dysfunction: working and long-term memory issues, slow info processing, word recall troubles, not feeling like myself/depersonalization, etc.
  2. mental and physical PEM
  3. MCAS: allergy-like reactions to foods (esp high-histamine), cold, pressure, exercise, certain antibiotics (augmentin), tablet coating, etc.
  4. dysautonomia and POTS
  5. gut issues: bloating, upset, abdominal pain (esp right lower quadrant; even tested for appendicitis via bloods + CT + ultrasound)
  6. joints issues: pain and swelling in both feet metatarsals (bursitis)
  7. misc:
    1. pain, weakness, and discomfort in 4th and 5th left hand fingers
    2. right eye issues: sometimes enlarged pupil (only in right eye), pain above right eye if I roll my eyes up, looking at bright objects leaves a lasting mark in the visual field (but does not in the left eye)
Summary of what I believe healed me:
  1. lots of sunlight: sunrise, midday, sunset; as much time as possible under the sun (see below for the pic how Iā€™m typing these words!) >> this cleared up sinus, ear, and GI infections + improved energy and mood
  2. cold exposure: 3 min cold showers + morning and evening ~20min naked torso outside at ~5-9 degrees celsius; plus temp variability: hanging out naked torso outside as much as possible to retrain that vasculature and aerate the body >> this reduced stress, removed fatigue, and brought my energy back
  3. spending most of my time outdoors, in nature (parks, forest, meadows, lakes, etc.): hanging out amongst animals, birds, etc. >> this further reduced stress to basically zero and brought back a sense of joy and serenity
  4. nervous system retraining via specific types of movement and aromatherapy: balance, dancing, climbing, boxing moves, fencing, crawling + smelling flowers, trees, essential oils, herbs >> this brought back trust in my body and a sense of balance & peace
  5. very clean, vegan, autophagy-optimized diet + eggs (i.e., no sugar, UPFs of any kind, all organic, mostly fresh/little cooked; lots of spermidine via sprouted rye, wheat; other autophagy boosting foods), with ~3 small meals a day and 20-40% caloric restriction >> this took away gut issues, reduced joint inflammation, and opened up my sinuses after years of congestion
  6. lots of movement throughout the day and gradual return to more intense exercise: started from short and very light and low intensity bodyweight workout (10 mins; one set of squats, pushups, abs, etc.) and built up from that; z1 cardio 105 bpm walking with ~5kg backpack; then z2 peloton 15>20>30 mins; then more intense strength workouts with dumbbells + LOTS of movement throughout the day, every 20-30 mins, never still >> this also greatly improved energy, although I did get PEM first (in March-April) after more-or-less intense 40 min strength training with dumbbells, but then it went away; that lady from huberman pod (see below) had a brilliant point of how each type of exercise (walking, strength, endurance, HIIT, zone 2) positively affects mitochondria in different ways, ā€œmuscle contraction is medicineā€
  7. weirdly, 100% dark chocolate, 20-50g daily. Itā€™s a strong autophagy inducer and boasts with antioxidants + boosts brain function and mood. >> I felt substantially better right after I started eating it, and never stopped.
Supplements and drugs I took: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1_oA0CONWDlPg7eEABA6tIo9Np5sfVy_iC497JrZDeoY/edit#gid=0
All they did was reduce brain fog + reactions to foods, but those sx immediately returned when I tried stopping the supps in Feb.
I think the main problem was mitochondrial dysfunction because all those things I did address it in various ways. Huberman released a great pod on it last week (https://youtu.be/8qaBpM73NSk?si=cDdTBiOzKk86wkQn) + check out Jack Kruse stuff for more info
Sending you all good energy. Stay strong. You can beat it.

What should I do???
Details below.
Background. 35YO male, professional Slim, 174cm, 70kg BSL normal. BP normal. BMI normal. Family Hx of both parents high cholesterol

Food 2023 Feb started intermittent fasting 16-8, ,5 days per week during work. 2 days per week during day off will have 3 meals with family.
Work days Lunch - sandwiches, mainly bread with tuna/egg/cheese/chicken/fish. Peanut butter on toast. Fruits. Black tea / green tea no sugar no milk. Dinner - Asian / Malaysian / Singaporean type of meals. Such as stir fry chicken / pork. Rice and vegetables. Occasionally instant noodles. Nothing crazy. Dont take fatty meal / skin etc.
Off days Occasionally Cheat meals, eating out once per week. Occasionally fried food or unhealthy food outside / take away. But nothing crazy.
Supplements 3000mg fish oil daily

2024.05.14 15:57 LugerRuger041995 Sometimes I wish melee was more relevant

Sometimes I make like a British explorer going to Africa to poach endangered species and I put on a prim kit to go mess with the ghetto (Where all the primlocked brokies reside ā˜•ļø). I like prim melee combat and having hobo fights over who gets the last can of tuna at Oxumā€™s, but it gets outclassed almost immediately.
Thereā€™s a wide spectrum of melee thatā€™s stratified really nicely (Bone club to long sword), but it hardly matters because youā€™re only going to use them if you get them out of crates as a fresh spawn. Otherwise, they just clog the tech tree and are a waste of scrap. Never ever have I crafted a salvaged sword, long sword, etc because if I have a workbench, there isnā€™t a point.
The only time Iā€™ve gone ā€œAh, I wish I had melee weaponsā€ is when I go to grub oil rig in scuba, but even then, thereā€™s harpoon guns and jackies, which has a faster firer rate and better range.
I understand the progression to guns over melee, but the melee period hardly exists, if at all. Bows are a default BP and are cheaper than melee to craft, while also beating melee at all ranges, except point blank, unless the bow wielder hits a headshot, which is very well possible.
CloseTL;DR
Melee has no place because it is outclassed as soon as you craft a bow, despite the fact that melee is stratified and has many different options.

2024.05.14 00:18 BenBrickSimmons [Acne] How do I clear my skin up?

[Acne] How do I clear my skin up?
I've had acne ever since I was a freshmen in HS, and am still struggling with it as a freshmen in college. I've been using BP 2.5% gel along with a Cetaphil gentle cleanser, and a Cerave mositurizing cream to help with my acne. But have stopped using BP for a few days due to the irritation it causes. My skin is very oily so I feel the BP may have made the oil production on my face worse. My self esteem is at an all time low, I want to clear my skin up but am not sure what to do or try. How do I fix this?

2024.05.13 14:16 rawrDX_ Health Anxiety and HBP reading please help

36 F
I have bad health anxiety, January through March of this year I was in and out of the ER and drs offices due to my anxiety and fear something was wrong with me. During those Months I had some very high readings due to oanic attacks but I also had some normal readings of 121/82. Ths drs took blood over and over, they did multiple ekgs, they did xrays of my heart etc. Dr's never seemed concerned and said I was healthy but I took my BP on Saturday one time it was 156/97 and later it was 140/90 or 96 I can't remember the bottom number.
I know I have been very stressed out and eating like crap, so I started back taking garlic supplements that is supposed to help with blood pressure and Fish Oil supplements. I am planning on starting to eat healthy again and start taking walks.
Should I be worried that I am dying? I really don't want to die. If just a couple months ago I had normal readings could it just be normal fluctuations? I really am scared

2024.05.12 16:44 TheRealHarrypm Tape Transfer, Tape Digitisation & Tapeless Conversion Starting Guide (2024)

I hope this will be pinned as I want to provide a upto-date full-scope info dump on critical things that have changed over the last few years that people binging YT videos and old threads will be out of the loop on.
The Decode Wiki has a massive amount of information thats proacticly updated and mantained, so here is just a more camcorder format biased summary of a lot info there.

Rule 1

There is a thing called SAVE or LOCK tap on tapes, enable it on all your tapes before playing with them, this will save your ass from careless or just mistakes and stop your from erasing your tapes.

Cleaning & Service

Please do not treat mechnical kit like magic, it requires care and maintaince like a car or a rifle it has a lot of parts that need cleaning and oiling once and awhile or outright replacing like belts and capston rubber wheels.
Paper & 99.9% IPA never 60% etc (water + elecronics just no.) for VHS & Beta head cleaning.
Chamois Sticks (overpriced waste for all but camcorders) for small head cleaning.
Brush, Airblower, Super-Lube, Sowing Machine oil - Genreal cleaning & service.
Lens cleaning should always be with microfibeswabs to clean rims, UV Filters are your dust/shatter protection friends caps are also adviced during sunlight use!

PAL & NTSC

We are not all united in this world of standards per region, never forget the diffrances it can cost you time and suffering.
PAL 625-line (25fps 50 fields "25i") is Europe/Middle East to Russia 50hz grids
NTSC 525-line (29.97fps 59.94 fields "29.97i") is USA/Canada/Japan 60hz grids
Digital active area is 720x576i PAL and NTSC is 720x480i or 488
(there is also 608/512 height called IMX standard for preserving the VBI area both are in analog world sampled at 4fsc or 1135x625 PAL & 910x525 NTSC but only vhs/ld/cvbs-decode provide acesss to the full signal frame.)
NTSC-N/PAL-M/NTSC-50/PAL60 etc (South America and outhers who could not just stick to one unifyed system or slowly migrated with existing kit)
Recorded Media only has 3 flavors in common world use, NTSC/PAL then the french have SECAM or MESECAM for recorded tapes before moving to PAL.
Digital you will use and or encouter i.e 2000s era will only be NTSC/PAL (then flavors of HD in interlaced or progressive 25/24/29.97p) to keep things simple.
PAL decks (most 90's & 2000's decks) will play most MESECAM tapes, will play NTSC tapes also but the standard video output will have 4.43Mhz instead of 3.35Mhz colour subcarrier so NTSC native kit will not like it, such as Time Base correctors or NTSC CRT TVs so you will get B/W video out of a lot of PAL kit with native NTSC support too or it will be just PAL converted by a PAL DMR-ES10 for example.
The decks however are reading full NTSC or MESECAM signal off the tape so the video boards internally are converting the signal, but with direct RF capture will get you a native capture to work with and preserve analog tapes.

Digital Tapes

Massive Guide Here with full scope breakdown
Do NOT HOT PLUG, FireWire is 12v turn kit off hook up cable turn it back on, unless its a adapter from TB2 to TB3 to FW800 with low power data only then its most likey a full spec port with 12v 5A that can kill kit if ports are not clean and you hot plug it.
MiniDV/HDV/Digital8 FireWire Camcorders fall under
StarTech and 101 china brands make cards, I like DVgrab on Linux, but WinDV still works for most Windows Boxes & Final Cut still works on MacOS.

Digital Pro Tapes

HDCam / HDCam SR / DVCProHD / DigiBeta (digital betacam) / MPEG IMX etc
Some decks like DVC do have FireWire but HDcam and Digibeta flavors are all SDI
HDCam falls under SDI - Digital to V210 or FFV1 4:2:2
This applys to decks and camcorders you will be using SDI most likey but some had HDMI 8-bit 4:2:2 output like later HDV camcorders did.

Analog Tapes

VHS-C/SVHS-C/BetaMax/Betacam/Video8/Hi8
SVHS may have VITC timecode in VBI space, Hi8 can have PCM digital audio if shot with pro kit and RCTC data like time and date code on pro and prosumer models.
The best possible method for preserving tapes in the 21st century for analog Video and HiFi signals is The FM RF Archival Method then decoding it to S-Video/Composite in software then chroma-decoding it to YUV digital data all in software, no hardware TBC or this capture card is better then that capture card nightmare or limted codec support, it cuts through the noise (littorally) and plight of inflated hardware markets, VHS-Decode gives you a alternative for all analog tape formats dispite its name.
This is direct sampling of the orignal signals as the deck reads the tapes before its internal processing, this is the most affordable and technologically high quality preservation workflow that anyone can use today, cost of entry is sub 100USD and virtually all decks have test points. (but later decks will not have easy HiFi test points so 90s decks with a good cleaning first are your go to.)
You may even already own a CXADC compatible Hauppauge/WinTV or outher brand of capture card with CX chips the driver can use.
Sony 8mm or Hi8/Video8 and Digital8 with backwards playback support have test jigs that are plug and play for test points.
The older more well known method is deck with S-Video Time Base Corrector "TBC" ADC/Capture Card or a capture card with a TBC, this will cost you 2-20x the cost of a FM RF archival workflow thats with a basic office PC out of the skip basically added to the shopping list.

Making a Camcorder tapeless

Analog - S-Video/CVBS or Compoosite (Yellow RCA or 4-Pin Din for S-Video)
Digital - HDMI (but only HDV MiniDV camcorders had this so S-Video would be the best output in 16:9 squesse mode this applys to Digital8)
Cheep Analog SDI coverters off eBay using a 12v to USB-PD adapter will be the most powerful plug and play clean signal converting kit you can put into a Molle belt pouch or backpack with PD power adapters.
SDI is just HDMI with some more specs and piped over Coax cable orignally it replaced all the Coax copper lines that ran Composite or CVBS in studios and now its good solid locking interface for A/V world using the BNC connector from the 1940s and HDMI converters are a dime a dozen for SDI.
Digital8/MiniDV you can buy little off shelf USB adapters, but for later prosumer kit with NPF mount etc just buy a new 18650 cell based chinese battery they last all day long.
Recorders, Atmos, Blackmagic are your 2 go to brands today, but if you have a laptop just get a Magewell or GV-USB2 based setup and encode with VirtualDub2 or OBS if you like crunching stuff with realtime de-interlacing (its terrible for recorded media never should do it, but for live feeds you can get away with it in most cases as long as your system can keep up and use a codec like ProRes LT)

Power & Power Adapting

You can use 9v with stepdown or 5v with step up to power the 6-7.1v to 7.1 to 8.5v voltage range of camcorders, common batterys today are NPF, BP, V-Mount or Gold Mount with ARRI B-Mount slowing getting adaoption, but USB-PD or 20v 3A PD65W and 20v 5a PD100W power banks are now very cheep and provide more then enough to power most field portable kit.

Codecs & Containers & Chroma Sampling & Bit-Depth

Codecs and Cotainers is fun, but MP4/MOV is banned for archival, you will lose files, they break if the recording/encoding fails midway, do not trust them to store your audio and video memorys forever.
MKV/MXF are the only containers you should keep masters in if not DV/AVI at worst for HD and SD media today very much so if you have a home server with Jellyfin for example header dependent containers like MP4/MOV are poor for streaming locally and over the the internet on demand headderless don't care and are very relisaint if currupton happens you lose frames/seconds not your whole file.
(Note: you can easily re-mux a file from these safe containers for use on outher devices that require avi or mp4 etc its just a wrapper to hold the data, its easy to convert between the two without loss)
Codecs range from lossy compressed like AVC/H264 or HEVC/H265 (in MP4/MOV etc) to Lossy DV25 used for MiniDV/Digital8, to visually lossles like ProRes HQ, and the V210 for uncompressed and FFV1 today for lossless compressed.
Chroma Sub-Sampling is how much colour range data is stored per pixel, 4:2:2 is enough to use green screens and preserve the full range of live from camara Composite NTSC or PAL, ware as 4:4:4 is the same for HD era kit in very lay terms here but this is only for master recordings and for digitisaion.
Bit-Depth is simple 8-bit 256 range 10-bit 1024 range of colour, you want 10-bit almost always for inital capture in digital HD era and in Analog SD archival but can drop it to 8-bit 4:2:0 with careful encoding after the fact many videos on this that are clear and demo this.
For example though in this community DV is 4:1:1 NTSC and 4:2:0 in PAL so if using a Digital8 camcorder to ingest tapes from Video8/Hi8 your not saving the full range of colour and also using a lossy compressed codec at 25-30mbps great for 1995 but for 45-50mbps you can use lossless compressed FFV1 8-bit 4:2:2.

Deinterlacing

101 ways hardware and software converters, personally if your camcorder does not have a progressive or progressive pulldown mode, shoot in interlaced, use Hybird or StaxRip with the QTGMC filter via Vapoursynth or Avisynth its 3-5 clicks today and some copy paste at worst, dont use BDWIF or YADIF if you can help it, and always bare in mind lossy compressed interlaced footage will almost always have artifacts to fight with.
All Analog media in consumeprosumer world is interlaced and should be delt with in post for recorded media.

Final Notes

This is a fun subject that without basic EE/Cine/ENG world info being ingrained into your mind, its not very well condenced for people to get into without making massive mistakes or just ones that are sad to see due to lack of ah heres a nice list of key points to go and google and look into or sticky note on the kit.

[Wish me luck] My sister-in-law gifted me Effaclar serum from LRP and I think she just picked it from her unused skincare products because it expires in October 2024! Iā€™ve been on Tret for one month for acne so it doesnā€™t fit my current routine, but Iā€™m not a fan of throwing away new stuff
Iā€™m thinking about incorporating it once a week on a non- tret night and work it up from there, hopefully finishing it before it expiresā€¦
How many months does a product like this last if used - lets say - twice a week?
Its too early for me to introduce new actives, but I canā€™t stand the idea of it expiring on my shelf, and throw it away.
Current routine - that has been working until now AM: BP on active acne (when needed) - clense/splash water - hydrating serum (dermina)/light moisturiser (dermina) - Skinoren AzA 20% - SPF 50 - foundation
PM: oil clense - water clense - light moisturiser- AZA - tret 0.05 - dense moisturiser (Hada Labo premium) On non tret nights AZA + Keracnyl Repair or just Keracnyl repair (special moisuriser cream for ongoing acne tretments)
I would introduce Effaclar on non tret night just before the Keracnyl.
If one person here tells me its stupid, and i risk on ruining my routine, i wonā€™t do it

The North Carolina mask ban has precedents
In 2013, workers assigned the task of cleaning up the BP toxic oil spill were threatened with termination by the corporation and pressured by the federal government to avoid wearing respirators so as not to alarm the public.
Since 2020, countless working people in service and media industries have been pressured or required to unmask to avoid alarming customers.
We live in a burning world, and saying so is dangerous.

2024.05.11 21:04 weeklyfuture Is this a bad chiropractic adjustment or something else?

25F, 5'4", 110 lbs. Take Vyvanse and Lamotrigine along with multivitamin, fish oil, and CoQ10. Drink 4-5x a week but was sober for about a week before these issues began. Former vaper. Current body temp is 98ĖšF, BP is 110/72 (a bit high for me), oxygen 97%.
HEALTH ISSUES:
Diagnosed with dysautonomia, GI issues, ovarian cysts, migraine with aura (vision, pain, neuropathy, aphasia), Raynaud's, suspected endometriosis + possible PCOS (a horrible story for another time). Moderate right calf veinous insufficiency, mild in left calf ā€“ both symptomatic/cause pain. Chronic neck, back, and pelvic pain.
Back specific issues:
THE STORY:
I went to a new chiropractor on Thursday who took x-rays of my mid-back and neck/shoulders. They also read the aforementioned MRI report. I ended up getting a very brief ā€“ and I thought relatively mild ā€“ adjustment after on my neck and lower back.
Felt fine after the appointment but woke up Friday with awful nerve pain in my legs ā€“ right where my varicose veins are. Intermittent sharp cramps with shooting pain going from my calf up to my pelvis and vice versa. I thought it initially was from dehydration or bad sleep which both cause flareups in my varicose veins. They got worse and worse as the day went on, and my lower back pain became severe around 4pm yesterday. I have 24/7 pelvic pain so that's there ā€“ dull with sharp stabs. Some neck pain, but it more just feels "stuck"/like I need to crack it (not stiff!). Lethargic but not sleeping (vicious cycle). Started getting sharp pains in my arms and hands as well but more isolated/not radiating up or down like in my legs. Some nausea. I feel a bit "off" but not dizzy or disoriented ā€“ just in a lot of pain. Feet are very very cold, and I can tell my circulation isn't the best. I'm "sore" in the typical post-adjustment way, but I've never had this type of pain.
Been using ice, elevating my legs, and wearing compression socks. Hurts to walk, sit, lay down, or stand for too long. Been stretching as well. I slept with a weighted blanket the night of the adjustment but have backed off from that (is there a definitive answer as to whether that's good or bad for circulation?).
Is this the result of the chiro adjustment (good or bad)? Something else? Should I see someone asap?
Thank you! If you'd like to see any imaging, please let me know, and I'll post links in comments.

2024.05.11 19:37 fortnite_noob1 Could you give me specific companies I can apply to for a job (chemistry degree)

I finished my scholarship in the US and would like to find a job soon, but the ŲÆŁŠŁˆŲ§Ł† Ų§Ł„Ų®ŲÆŁ…Ł‡ is still closed.
Whenever I ask my family and friends for ideas of companies I can apply to, they all say the same thing (KNPC, KOC, EQUATE, SLB, BP, etc). Most of these are oil companies and they are not hiring at the moment according to their website ("no jobs found" when I look for open positions).
Could you please recommend any other private company or a 50/50 shared private and goverment company I can apply to?
I would really prefer if you can give me specific answers/names so I can check their website, apply, and send my resume/CV. It doesn't have to be an oil company; I already know it won't be possible for me to work there, but I checked them just csuse my family recommended them to me.
Thank you in advance.

2024.05.11 16:42 akhreini When should I be concerned about blood pressure and what can I do about it at home

22M 190lbs 6'2"
Don't drink, don't smoke cigarettes, smoke weed about 1g/day, hookah once a month or less, drink yerba mate 4 times a week, no other coffee. No energy drinks anymore, used to abuse the hell out of them tho
Took BP last week at shoppers, 135/85, high range of normal according to machine, I had just had caffeine and a toke which I believe acutely raise it. Measured again yesterday, 140/91, but again, unfortunately after half a joint and a drink I didn't know had 50mg caffeine until after. Took it later in the day to be sure, 145/92. I have experienced mild chest pains for a few months now but the doctor I saw said they are more likely lungs than heart but we never really got to a conclusion he just pushed me out the door, walk in trying to get through patients I guess, it's fair.
I'm not that surprised, I have a horribly stressful job that has me up all night rushing all the time, and I eat like shit.
So, I've done and am doing a few things
1- I read that THC can acutely raise it but is linked to a decrease overall, but that combustion products from smoking weed or any other plant matter really cause high blood pressure and quite badly, so I have ordered a dry herb vaporizer
2 - I have started drinking hibiscus tea
3 - I have purchased a VR version of the video game I usually play at my desk so my 3 hours of sedentary gaming time is now 3 hours of moving around
4 - Cutting out fast food, red meat, buying low sodium groceries today instead, avocado/olive oil based foods and condiments instead of canola
I don't have a GP and the shortest wait list near me is 3 years and the walk ins are just awful around here (don't have that kind of time during the hours they are open) so I am trying to do everything I can at home to get it under control and then see a doctor if I can't.
What else can I do, when should I be worried? Like if I make lifestyle changes and it doesn't average out to normal in like 1 month, 2 months? Or should I seek medical help now?

2024.05.10 22:09 Sebas55568 My short bout with PVCs

Just wanted to drop my little story here. Not looking for medical advice and I am not giving medical advice, although I am an EMT and have a strong background in this stuff. This is more just the story of a 23 y.o healthy individual who spontaneously got frequent PVCs and is healing.
Two weeks ago, Sunday, went through an alarmingly stressful moment where my heart started beating irregularly and the next beat after the PVC would be alarmingly FORCEFUL. I honestly thought I was going to die. Long story short, my girlfriend called 911 where medics hooked me up to a 12-lead ecg and couldnā€™t find anything. They made me feel crazy and Iā€™m a medic myself. Told me maybe I was just having an anxiety attack.
Every day since then I had strong PVCs all day and I tried to toughen up and go about my days. I went to Boston, took a small exam, and drove back to eat with my family. In the middle of eating, I got another intense attack of strong beats and PVCs. This time I said no way and drove to the ER. The ecg at the hospital was picking up an insane amount of PVCs. Sometimes 2-3 every 30 seconds and a single episode of NSVT. Blood pressure was 190/88 and I thought I was done for.
Doctors examined me and found nothing wrong, blamed it on stress, caffeine, etc. keep in mind I barely consume caffeine and the days I do itā€™s usually only 150-200mg. But that reassurance was enough to bring my BP down to 132/82. He said if they continue at this rate an ablasion/meds would not be a bad idea. Got referred to cardiology for a monitor as well
Since then Iā€™ve had them frequently and sometimes they sting and Iā€™ve completely quit out all nicotine and caffeine usage for two weeks hoping to help. And I honestly found no correlation between my caffeine/nicotine intake and my PVCs as Iā€™ve tested the waters some days with a cup of tea or a puff from my vape.
As of two days ago I took matters into my own hands and I think theyā€™re going away entirely. I havenā€™t had them long enough like some of you guys but maybe these will help. Maybe I just stunned my heart and they were spontaneously going to resolve anyways but hereā€™s some things I did.
Exercise: 45 min elliptical 10 inc/8 res Moderate weights 3-4x a week. Moderate cardio seemed to help granted I had enough electrolytes in my body. Sometimes working out without proper electrolytes aggravated PVCS so drink something like a body armor
Diet: 2-3 avocados daily High fiber tortillas Lean chicken and ground beef Lots of kiwis and berries Electrolyte beverages (bodyarmor is high in potassium) High protein/High in healthy fats Sugary foods and fatty foods aggravated the hell out of my PVCs
Supplements ( I took a lot of stuff) 10Grams Taurine 6 Grams L arginine 400mg Magnesium glycinate CoQ10 400mg Fish oil Multivitamin D3 Garlic extract 2grams Ashwaganda extract 1200mg
Sleeping: Laying on my stomach calmed the PVCs down Laying on my left side gave me intense PVCs
Mindset: Know that they will pass Accept that your heart is just off key right now and needs some rest Donā€™t try to sacrifice everything you love simply bc your heart is skipping some beats Anxiety will make them 10x worse
These suck and I feel for everyone who struggles with these. I hope you all heal and find some peace.
