Been driving around a bunch on this side of town. They are building a bunch of new apartments along riverside drive near the 5/Fletcher dr exit. This is a great idea in theory as the new apartments will increase the supply (and hopefully reduce rents) of housing in silver lake. This is great BUT there is only really one option, DRIVING. Obviously there is the bus but that's just not everyone's favorite way of getting around. Please enjoy my prospective maps of NELA connections. A lot of these roads are 4-6 lane stroads that could easily be converted into smaller roads with surface level trams.
San Fernando line - Lincoln cypress to down town Burbank.
Riverside/parks connector line. Lincoln Cypress to Universal Studios. I know the "dodgers gondola" is kinda unpopular but I was thinking it could go all the way from union station, up the hill to the dodgers, and then down the hill to Lincoln Cypress thus connecting 2 sides of LA.
Colorado line Connects Glendale to eagle rock to Pasadena at Holly St.
Atwater line Connects Los Feliz, Hyperion ave Silverlake, to downtown Glendale along Brand blvd.
Glendale Blvd line (this one would could a tunnel between riverside dfletcher dr and westlake to avoid heavy traffic during constriction and elevation difficulties) Connects Westlake & Echo park to Glassell park and Eagle Rock. This would also give highland park another metro on the east side as well as offer occidental college students access to greater los angeles without the need to drive.

 I have no idea why, but I finally resorted to come here possibly for some answers or others experience, like I’m begging to that extent. This is my first time experiencing anything is this matter, and it just lives in my head and scares the absolute shit out of me. I haven’t gotten anything clear out of anybody nor does anyone believe me when I tell them. The start of whatever this happened about 2-3 months ago. Me and my sister, let’s just call her M. We was driving home from a gas station that was around 10 minutes away from our house, around 4:30-45 in the morning, which this was the closest place around for anything. I don’t know how to describe it, but we finally got onto our road, and not even 500ft in stands a deer on our side in the road, with beading human like eyeballs that stared us down as we drove by to avoid hitting it. This deer never moved, and gave us a very fucked up feeling. Later, in all honesty it wasn’t but like a week ago, 6 days ago to be exact. It was around 1am, M had just got done with playing some game in my room with her friend. She then told me that she wanted to go to the gas station, just to get a redbull. We got in the car and left, not thinking anything of it, but around the exact same place the last occurrence happened, we come down the road that was kind of like a hill. I was in the passenger seat staring at the road, when I seen a human face with a human like appearance to it about to run out on the road, a few hundred feet in front of us, it scared me to the point of genuinely screaming, but I looked over to M then back again at the place where it was, and there stands an eerie doe, very scrawny with thin legs. We had eventually gotten home, not having any idea what to think about this occurrence, I know we sat at that store for over an hour trying to recollect ourselves. I just do not know how to wrap my head around any of this, it’s kind of messing me up. I’m so tired at this point, I don’t believe I will ever forget this. 

Yo, I’m in a long distance relationship with my bf. I’m in college(21f) and he has a job like 7-5(big boy job). In the last couple of months we barely ft anymore we consistently just text. He’s super busy, and I know why. I’ve seen how he is after work, he’s super exhausted and everyday after work he works on his car(he’s completely been rebuilding it.) I’ve been trying to be as understanding as possible but it’s been creating so many problems. At the end of April I wanted to take a break I expressed how I felt and how I’ve been feeling. I’m not happy, we’ve been dating for 7 months and as time went on the worse our communication got. I told him I wanted a break bc it doesn’t feel like we’re in a relationship when we’re apart, only when we’re together. And he agreed that it felt like that. He thought I wanted to break up with him, and was begging me to stay and as we talked I gradually started to think, “maybe we should just break up.” So I tried to and he was upset. Obviously. He wanted to do better, he felt so bad, and truly expressed that all the lack of calls and less time he was giving me was because he wanted to finish his car quicker so we could enjoy the summer together, and that he’d come see me more. So I stayed. (Mind you he hasn’t been to see me since January.) In the beginning of our relationship he was coming to see me nonstop, but I couldn’t afford to come see him bc we weren’t dating yet, and his mom wouldn’t let me stay there so I would’ve had to pay for a hotel.) Eventually I met his parents and family this year and they love me! So I started visiting him back to back like he did. Even though I still couldn’t afford to see him, I was anyway. I love him. But it just doesn’t feel like he loves me??? He continuously tells me he does, and I’ve seen it when we’re together, and the way he’s gotten upset at how I’m unhappy, he’s been really emotional about it. He said he would do better, but we’ve had that conversation at least 3-4 times within the past month and half and he hasn’t done much to change the situation. I’m the one who calls, I’m the one who has to travel consistently. When we’re apart it’s like I’m put in his pile of “get to later.” It’s like if you love me why won’t you come see me more? And I constantly am trying to give him leeway bc, well, he works a pretty meticulous job and he’s 20, this is his first REAL relationship and this is my first relationship in general. I know he doesn’t know what he’s doing but, how much more of this can I take you know? Am I wrong for feeling the way I feel?

Hey all, Nebraska resident here. I (stupidly, desperately) bought a 2016 a couple years back from a used car lot with a salvaged title. Fast forward ~4 years, the car has 77K miles on it, but seems like it could be close to dying on me. I don’t really want to pay to get all of the fixes it needs. Its shifting is rough and transmission isn’t great, but it drives. Now, do I 1) try to trade in the car, salvaged title, but only has 77K miles on it before it completely dies? Or 2) hope to get more time than expecting and drive it until it’s dead.
For reference, both my husband and I are full time graduate students, and only one of us can afford to have one part time job, so income is slightly limited.

I filed a warranty claim on the previous PSU I bought and when I received the new one I went to use it and the power supply did not work the first time with everything assembled once I reseated everything and removed the graphics card from the pcie slot all of the lights turned on and fans spun for 10 minutes once I powered it off and reinstalled the graphics card nothing has worked since.
While performing the paper clip test the PSU fan does not spin to life and seconds after removing the paper clip the fan does about an eighth of a rotation.

When I plug in the components and turn the Power supply on I get a slight RGB flicker and then when I hit the power button on occasion I get everything to light up and start going but only when the graphics card is not installed into the pcie slot.
Testing the power supply from my old rig every thing works perfectly fine.
When I have a hard drive plugged in while the paperclip is in the hard drive spins to life and stays there
Does anyone know what this means?

I have an MSI Z490 Tomahawk Mobo with an 11700K. I already have an SN850 NVME in the top M.2 slot and an EVO850 500gb Sata III M.2 in the lower spot. It's my understanding that my motherboard/cpu combo has 20 PCIe lanes, so by my math 16 lanes for my GPU (RTX3070ti) and 4 lanes for the SN850.
My question is, if I change out the Evo 850 for a PCIe M.2, will it take lanes from my GPU? Otherwise what would happen? The manual wasn't exactly clear on this config as it was concerning SATA combinations.

So I come from a baniya background, mostly saw people running a business and doing great in life. None of my family members have ever done a job in their life. Recently met a match who was from a corporate background. Probably a good package as he was into consultancy was working with top 4 , we didn’t ask tbh. When my parents visited his place , my parents were in shock as they hardly served any snacks. Usually in our families when someone comes over a lot of snacks and drinks are served . House furniture was very old too. They didn’t have a car as guy didn’t live with his parents and his dad doesn’t drive. So they take a cab.
Dad wasn’t impressed with all this but my mom said they seem like good people, you should talk to him. Also I don’t care much about money, always wanted a hardworking guy who is capable enough to earn rather than some rich spoiled brat. So it didn’t matter much to me. We spoke he seemed a good guy, but as we were talking I just felt he thinks every girl wants him for his money. At one point it felt we aren’t talking about marriage we are doing a business transaction. His job has made him too arrogant.
I defended him by telling my dad if he is a hardworking guy idc much,when my dad said I don’t like this guy or his family. My dad has never been a fan of guys who are doing a job. (Every dad wants a good family for his daughter, I don’t blame him too) My dad got really pissed when I told him I paid the bill, it didn’t matter to me tbh but it mattered to my dad. Later on I felt like a fool for defending him.
Before him I have only met guys from business background. All of them were humble and money was never a topic of discussion. I really wanted to humble down this guy by telling “dude, there are people who I have come across my whole life, they pay taxes equivalent to your package even they aren’t as arrogant as you are”. But I let it go, not worth it.
I have noticed this pattern where jobs guys (corporate slaves) are too arrogant as compare to the guys who come from the business background.

On January 6th I drove my 2023 Model Y Longe Range from Broadway, Virginia to Seattle, Washington. The morning I left I spent the first 6 hours driving through an incredible snow storm in the mountains of WVA. Only twice (on a 21% grade) did the car slip on unplowed roads. It took me 4.5 days to make the trip. Between snow storms, charging, and traffic I ended up driving from 8:00am every morning and didn’t arrive at my hotel until 1:30am with the exception of my arrival to Seattle (6:00pm arrival time). I have a feeling the extreme weather (-53F feel in Montana) (-23F average temp from South Dakota to Idaho) cause the most issue with battery loss. Only once did I leave a charger and had to turn around due to battery loss (long stretch of road in South Dakota, -21F), charge again, and then take an alternate route. With charging I spent $97 on my trip at superchargers.
What’s the farthest you’ve driven and have you attempted to drive in terrible weather conditions?

I was letting my car run for 20-30 minutes while on my break. I drove it to work ~4 hours before that fine. I have yet to check if it’s just water or possibly oil. Just want some advice! Thanks

I like making maps and started making a “Places to Live Guide” a while back. I picked it back up and updated it as the “is this area safe?” questions have picked up.
I want to promote our region and encourage people moving here. I also understand these questions get old, hence the responses of “search the sub” and “do research.” It also frustrates me that people only ask about safety. Sure, safety is one consideration but asking only about safety seems unhelpful. This map attempts to show more things that might matter to a person picking a place to live.
I defined 79 boundaries inside 270 in St. Louis. First, anywhere outside 270 or metro east is going to be true suburbs. Second, inside 270 should be our city limits if we were like most other North American cities. I stuck to 79 areas for the 79 neighborhoods of St. Louis City.
The boundaries are not true to neighborhoods and municipalities, but rather drawn to where the rating in one of the categories may change significantly (normally cost). Most neighborhoods/munis are split across more than one boundary. I named the boundaries by the any part of the neighborhood/muni covered.
The formula for ratings: Recreation + Walkability + Transit + Safety + Character - Cost
Ratings 1-10 for each category (10 being positive except for cost where 10 is high cost thus being subtracted from the rating).
Color Key- Red: 30+ rating Orange: 25+ rating Yellow: 20+ rating Green: 15+ rating Blue: 10+ rating Purple: Below 10 rating
I collected the following data for a score that corresponds to a rating in the individual categories:
Recreation: number of bars, restaurants, shops, attractions (includes parks) within boundaries + 1 mile

Safety: property and violent crime mapping since Jan 2022

Cost: random sampling of average rent cost and purchase price

Obviously for example, I understand a place like Ladue is desirable to live but rates low. The ratings are meant to favor well-rounded/mixed areas for the masses. If someone has money and wants a big house away from things, of course Ladue would be a nice place to live. Most places that rated low had low safety or high cost, though there are a few that punched above (Downtown Clayton for example rated well). Downtown St. Louis rates well because its built environment is objectively well-rounded. But of course not everyone wants a highly mixed use area.
I then split the places into sections to help people with a starting point: -Highest Rated Overall -A Lil’ Bit of Something for Everyone -Expensive Big Homes -Bang for Your Buck -Low Rating but Low Cost
I added three good things about each place because I think every place has great people and potential. Plus, it may allow someone looking for something specific to find a place that otherwise might be overlooked.
Maybe this could be pinned or used for quick response after some tweaking and allow people to overlay properties on the map or begin their search. After all, I want people to move here and stay here because they like it.
Please give feedback on where you disagree and what might make the map more readable or helpful. If anyone knows how to add a key, I would like to add one.

We paid up our rent with our taxes but that’s it. My husband is the only one able to work - I am fighting for disability with a leg problem. I live in a small town. I’ve tried to find side jobs to do but none available. My husband is barely getting to work as our car broke down last week. I took in 2 of my little cousins a few months ago out of foster care and I have 4 of my own. I maybe should have reconsidered. I can’t afford my cousins. The state doesn’t help me with anything for them. But we are trying and thought it was the right thing to do. Our water bill is gonna be cut off in 4 days. I owe $150 left on it for it to stay on. So to sum up this story i live in Florida and i was driving to work on 05/13/24 at around 9:20am and i am driving down a highway that has tow lanes southbound and two lanes northbound, I was headed southbound in the left lane headed to work going 45mph in a 45 zone. Suddenly a truck pulled out from a parking lot on the far right side of the highway attempting to get into the turning lane on the very left side, however he didn’t have a chance to go and though i slammed on the brakes it wasn’t enough clearance so i still hit him; my drivers side nailing right next to his back license plate. He immediately got out of the car and was starting to get aggressive with me so i called my dad and he arrived before the police did just to make me feel safe. Three officers arrived and ALL THREE of them declared it his fault and so did my insurance but i found out today that he’s trying to say it’s my fault and that i hit him in the turning lane so there has to be an investigation where someone is going to look at both of the vehicles. I’m just worried about what is going to happen if he is saying it’s my fault because with just pictures without any context it kinda looks like i rear ended him(pictures not allowed in this forum) Is there anything i can even do? and if it’s still his fault will he get penalized ? and is he able to attempt to sue me for injury even if it’s his fault?

Looking for a 4.6L engine for my 2001 F150 Would the be a swap option. The intake manifold is different but I can put my f150 manifold on it. The only question is will there be any communication problems with this engine?

Hi all! So at 23 I've gotten my first manual car, and my mother in law is the only person I know who can teach me to drive it. We had our first lesson today, and I feel like I've got an overall good grasp on everything except one (dumb) thing: getting into the correct position with the shifter.
For reference, I've got a 2006 Saab Impreza 9-2x, it came in pretty good condition, and it has a 5 speed H shifter from what my husband tells me. (1 3 5 on top, 2 4 R on bottom).
I understand when to shift into which gear, but I'm finding it super difficult to actually get the shifter into the right gear. I'll try to move the stick from 2 to 3, but end up in 5; similarly, from 5 to 4 and end up in 2. I can tell pretty quickly that I'm in the wrong gear, but finding the right one is consistently a problem and I don't want to do damage to the engine.
There's no digital display that I can immediately read off of, and the panic of trying to just figure it out while I'm moving down the road isn't ideal. It's definitely a me problem, as my mil had no issues shifting it with her experience, but I'm more or less looking for advice to figure this out.

I came to the US under a J-1 Visa and then I changed my status to an F-1 (my now husband was my sponsor for it).
We got married a week ago and I'm trying to get all my paperwork together to start my GC process, so far this is what I have:
• Financial: Joint bank account, we are both authorized users of each other's credit cards, he is my financial boarding and school sponsor for my visa and he sends me money every month for my expenses.
• Joint ownership of a car and shared insurance.
• Proof of living together: We lived together for a couple of months and we have DL matching, mail, a lease under his name on that address, and all my previous documentation for USCIS was under that address. We were doing long distance for 6 months but we have flights tickets and photos to prove that we were seeing each other. Now we have a new address and we have a matching DL all our documentation is under the same address and a joint lease + Amazon orders etc.
• Proof of Bona Fide relationship-marriage: + 50 pictures (not that many with family or friends) but we do have some trips together, wedding and honeymoon pictures, and different events like soccer games, dinners (and reservations for it). Couple of social media posts, call logs, facetime screenshots, and screenshots of our conversations since we started dating (one for each month). We also have itineraries for our trips, hotel bookings, gift receipts, expensive dinner recepicts, Spotify, Amazon, and Instacart shared accounts, BFF on Snapchat screenshots.
• 4 Affidavits from friends (I heard that USCIS doesn't like family affidavits).
It will that on top of the forms and the other type of paperwork that is mandatory.
What do y'all think is this enough or do I need to consider something else?
