Switching cell carriers and keeping my voicemail

2024.05.14 21:33 WellDressedLoser Switching cell carriers and keeping my voicemail

Hello
I’m currently planning to change cell phone carriers from Verizon to T-Mobile and I was wondering what will happen to my voicemails if I change carriers. I’m going to be keeping my current number and I’m on an iPhone.
I have been told that your carrier keeps your voicemail by one person and a Verizon tech support person said that they were stored locally on your device so any advice is welcome to help clear this up. Thanks.

2024.05.14 07:22 Lopsided-Guest8729 Help!

I just switched from AT&T to Verizon today and turned in my iPhone 11 Pro Max for the iPhone 15 pro max. Was in the store 4 house because the girl messed up and put the wrong phone number in and it wasn’t activating with the port. After 4 hours everything seemed fixed and I was on my way but I noticed when I got home that I cannot recieve calls. I can call people but they cannot call me. It goes straight to voicemail. I’m so confused and frustrated with what went on today and I just want it to be done and over with but now I have to call in the morning and figure this out. Does anyone have any ideas. I kinda have a feeling it has something to do with the port and switching from AT&T. And yes I restarted my phone, reset the network and all that stuff nothing is working.

2024.05.14 06:03 Worldly_Leg3264 Seeking Card Recs for Europe Travel

Hello all! I’m looking for some recommendations about the next card to add to my travel portfolio. In particular, I’m traveling to 3 countries in Europe late August/early September and would like to cover as much of it on points as I possibly can. Especially hotel rooms as the price of those can add up quickly. Including my credit profile below to help with recommendations.

2024.05.14 02:31 etschwed iPhone 12 Pro Max Low Power Mode Voicemail not working

Curious if anyone else has seen this behavior or can replicate it.
Version 1.4.17 With Verizon
My wife has had this phone 2.5 years and wanted to upvrXe because the voicemail notifications wouldn't come through. After googling and searching Reddit I figured it out. If Low Power Mode is on, she will not get notifications for voicemails left. They pop through when she calls someone later that day. Once we turn the Low Power Mode (LPM) off, it works as expected.
In addition, with LPM on we get a generic VM greeting which recites the phone number back. With it off, we get a similar generic greeting but no phone number read back. She also loses the ability to answer while I'm leaving a voicemail if LPM is on.
Seems odd behavior overall and curious if anyone else can replicate or not.

2024.05.14 02:09 DrZaius119 Need advice on rolling back to before March update that ruined P7Pro

My fiance has a P7Pro on T-Mobile. Since the March update data and calls have sucked. Many incoming calls go straight to voicemail, or if they go through the voices in both directions cut in and out. Sometimes data just stops in areas that worked before, and surfing the web often gives the little T-rex logo and says no internet connection. Have tried all known settings, including adaptive connectivity, network reset, and spent several hours yesterday doing a factory reset and setting up everything again. No difference. T-Mobile admits they are having issues and say an update will come "soon." I personally have an 8 Pro on Verizon and haven't had any of these issues, probably because Verizon issued a modem update with the 2nd April update.
Chats with Google also admit there is an issue with the modem firmware, and told us today that an update "will be rolled out in the coming weeks." There have been discussions about other carriers updating the modem firmware in the second April update. T-Mobile never released that, and their may update ending in .004 kept the prior March modem. Apparently they are still working the issue and will eventually get the update released.
So, I'm very comfortable sideloading and using ADB, but I know I won't be able to sideload the February 24 OTA image since it is older than the April update currently on the device. The factory reset left the April update there when it restarted. To those of you with experience reloading the factory image from February, how is this different from sideloading the usual monthly updates? I know it will wipe the device, but will it need to unlock the bootloader, and if so, how is that done? The phone is unlocked bought from Google directly. Also, she doesn't want me to do anything to lose her text history. Since I probably can't use the prior backup from Google 1 (or can I?) is there a way to restore the text history using another method. Thanks!

2024.05.13 12:03 eGrant03 Cell phones and maybe service while traveling

IDK where to post this question, so you're my first stop. Let me know if I'm off base.
I am visiting Germany next month with my husband and kid. We use TMobile and have Samsung and Motorola phones. I am checking device compatibility and it says everyone (except my son's "just in case" phone), are good to go. Mine is the newest, and it's saying "Limited Availability," stating how newer 5G phones are more compatible in Europe and trying to get me to upgrade. This is odd cause my husband has the Moto G Stylus which is coming back good to go and it's 4G. The only reason I can think that his might be better is my phone was released in 2021 and his in 2023. IDK if that makes a difference or not .
Their info page says a 5G phone will be backwards compatible if the area only has 4G available, so it should be fine. Yet a flagship branded and supposedly most compatible phone is throwing flags? That doesn't compute with me. My son's main phone is the Samsung S10e, and apparently the e (for enterprise, aka: a business version) has random issues too cause of the way it was designed. Yet it is also showing up as golden in the website too.
So, on a whim, I put in iPhone 4 as my SIL gave us an old one a while ago. I know it doesn't have a removable SIM and is Verizon locked, but the TMobile device checker sites says we're good to go. I refreshed the page first just in case so I knew I was getting accurate results. This is making me question the accuracy of that website FULLY now! (I also tried an old Samsung S7, cause we just happen to have an old one. That's good to go too, and it came out long before 5G did!)
Does anyone know if the Samsung S21+ is compatible with German cell towers? It's unlocked and all my other research says it's multiband compatible. Does anyone know of a third-party or Germany based website where I can get more accurate info? I took screenshots just in case and I'll try to post them below.
Also, part of me what's to avoid the headaches and just get 1 month of cheap cell service and data from a German company for one of our phones. My husband was tasked with this research so I don't have a lot of the specifics. Basically, there's no good and inexpensive options as most want a year's contract to start service or are pay by the minute/text/gig making the final cost worse than my US cell bill for 3 lines. I know in the US most people assume that there are only 3 or 4 cell service providers, but I was able to get service on a smaller third party cell provider. I guess the hope is maybe one of you all knows of a similar German version that I can check out. It's 4 am right now so that might not make sense, lol.
If anyone has suggestions, I'd love to hear them. Thanks either way!

Momentum is back in the markets, with major indices like the Dow (DJI), S&P 500 (SP500) and Nasdaq (COMP:IND) all just 1% away from their all-time record highs. The bull run is continuing despite concerns that the Fed might hold rates higher for longer, with recent data tilting expectations toward future easing. Among those are higher-than-estimated jobless claims, rising unemployment, and slowing growth that could force the central bank's hand before it falls behind the curve.
Snapshot: It's not all bad news is good news. Results from earnings season have caused the recent rally to grow legs, while the AI frenzy continues to be featured on corporate earnings calls and in daily headlines. In fact, over 80% of S&P 500 companies have already finished reporting, with around 5% growth in Q1 earnings per share, according to FactSet. That's the largest Y/Y increase since Q2 of 2022 and would handily beat most analyst expectations.
What happened to "Sell in May"? As previously mentioned on Wall Street Breakfast, staying fully invested could "prove safer than trying to time the market in any given year." While seasonal patterns do exist and equities could face some increased risk in the summer months, they still tend to go up over the long term despite additional volatility.
SA commentary: Investing Group Leader Lawrence Fuller, who previously flagged the weak track record of the 'Sell in May and go away' adage, is back with a fresh outlook on the rest of the year. "The bears are looking in the rearview mirror today to predict what may happen tomorrow. I think this is a big mistake, as was selling stocks during the pause to refresh in April. This bull market should march on throughout the remainder of 2024."
Tariff time The Biden administration is expected to announce new tariffs on Chinese electric vehicles and other strategic sectors, including batteries and solar equipment, on Tuesday. The fresh duties are a result of the White House's multi-year review of the Trump-era Section 301 tariffs that began in 2022. It's not just EVs. Biden last month proposed raising tariffs on Chinese steel and aluminum products to 25%, more than triple the current levy of 7.5%. An investigation into Chinese trade practices in shipbuilding, maritime and logistics may also lead to new tariffs. (26 comments)
AI content Popular short-form video hosting service TikTok is starting to automatically label artificial intelligence-generated content from other platforms. "We want to make sure people have the ability to understand what is fact and what is fiction," said Adam Presser, head of operations, TikTok. Meta's (META) Facebook and Instagram, as well as Alphabet's (GOOGL) YouTube, already have such labels in place. OpenAI is also working on a tool to let content creators manage how their content is used to train artificial intelligence. (1 comment)
Search competitor Speaking of OpenAI, the company is likely to unveil its AI-powered search product as soon as Monday, as it attempts to break into a space dominated by Google (GOOGL). The product, which will be added to ChatGPT, will be able to search the web for information and cite sources in its results. Search is a major area of focus for the AI industry, as companies crowd the market with their own chatbots, prompting competition over features. ChatGPT has also been integrated with Microsoft's (MSFT) Bing, while generative AI features have been added to Google. (16 comments)

2024.05.10 08:26 JD0226 cannot access my voicemail account

Hi, Been usm almost a year now when I to eSIM from T-Mobile to Verizon network. I stopped getting my voicemail. I called*86 and tried to read it it’s saying “I cannot use this service at this time” Tried resetting thru the website and customer care even tries to reset the network, and in the end I reactivated the eSIM nothing is working. 2024.05.08 21:58 Tundra-100 Just a question about the Verizon S24+.

I am trying to decide between the S24+ and Pixel 8 Pro for the same price in the US.
I cannot find an answer about the voicemail aspect between the two.
My current outdated Pixel 5 5G which is not supported anymore, has in the phone application, the option for built in voicemail and no carrier nonsense.
Is the Samsung Voicemail application something that is preinstalled on the Verizon locked S24+ one that handles voicemail the same way as the Pixel phones do?
The reason I ask is due to the low quality 5G modem the Pixel 8 Pro apparently has due to the Tensor chip being an old design. Some people say it doesn't perform that badly. Others say they have terrible 5G coverage and signal. But this is from people from Verizon, ATT and T-Mobile all sharing conflicting information with me.

2024.05.08 19:31 jbourne71 Verizon Conditional Call Forwarding No Longer Working

I'm in the same boat as this user.
I have Google Voice calls forwarded to a Verizon cell phone (previously AT&T). We had conditional call forwarding set up and working on the AT&T cell phone, and again when we switched to Verizon several weeks ago. As of today, we discovered that the Verizon conditional call forwarding is no longer working.
We have turned off/re-enabled conditional call forwarding multiple times and to multiple numbers (Google Voice and regular cell phone lines). We confirmed that total call forwarding works. We are using *71 for conditional, *72 for total, and *73 to reset.
We've reported it through the Voice app, reported it on the Google Voice Forum, and reported it on the Verizon Community Forum.
The Google Voice line is a health care practice--calls need to be forwarded back to the practice voicemail.

2024.05.07 21:08 ForgottenFrenchFry ULPT request: guy is using my email for his phone account. phone company can't remove it without them calling. guy won't answer. how can I screw with the guy until he removes it?

long story short, I've been getting emails for some guy's verizon account.
I keep getting emails, and even when i unsubscribe, I get emails for something else relating to it.
I called Verizon, and they can't remove it without getting the guy to call them first, because safety reasons, so I'm stuck with getting his emails.
I have his name, and his phone number because he placed an order, and one of the emails contained his phone number.
I tried calling the guy several times already, telling him to remove it, but it goes to voicemail every time.
how can I screw with this guy until he gets the message? is there like some sites or whatever where I can post his phone number or something?
edit: i don't have his email since, you know, he's fucking using my email. I have his address and what might be his phone number, along with his name. can't sign up for anything that needs email.
edit; Please STOP telling me to recover his account. verizon will not let me reset the password without his zip code, and the one I have does not work.

2024.05.05 21:25 CharleMageTV Many countries, counties & municipalities have banned 5G for health concerns. There is obviously room for more discussion here.

  11. 20th November 2019 – Mayor of Bad Wiessee in Bavaria, Germany announces unanimous decision of Town Council to invoke precautionary principle and reject 5G rollout (November 2019) Dear Residents and Visitors of Bad Wiessee, Bad Wiessee has a long-established reputation as a popular destination for health and well-being and this informs the present and future decision-making of the Council. Many of our visitors come here seeking medical treatments, physical rehabilitation or simply to improve their well-being and most, if not all, of our town’s prosperity depends on providing such services. As such, the Council takes its responsibilities in protecting and promoting health tourism very seriously. At a public meeting, the Council unanimously decided to oppose the rollout of the untested 5G network. The Council felt a great sense of responsibility towards both residents and visitors in taking this decision, given the significance of Bad Wiessee as a health destination. 5G offers many things that are attractive to people who love technology, such as time-saving automation, autonomous vehicles, ubiquitous smart homes, real time data-transfer, and the Internet of Things, to name but a few. But 5G also means increasing the number of cell towers in Germany from 90,000 to 750,000; launching approximately 12,000 5G satellites into space; increasing public exposure to microwave radiation from around 2.5 GHz currently to 200 GHz; seeing potential liability claims against owners of cell-tower locations; chopping down trees on a large scale (to ensure good transmission); as well as irradiating plants and animals. Above all, there is uncertainty about whether 5G can be considered safe in terms of public health. This is a very serious matter and, until such uncertainty is adequately clarified, the precautionary principle must be applied. Not only the residents and visitors of Bad Wiessee, but also future generations are entitled to expect their Council representatives to exercise their duty of care. The Council’s responsibility is all the greater given that the character and spirit of Bad Wiessee is defined in terms of health and well-being. The Council’s decision with regard to 5G was taken after serious deliberation, which showed that all the Council representatives recognized its importance. This decision is not intended to restrict progress, but solely to examine critically the price we pay for such progress. If you are interested in the topic of 5G, I would ask you to inform yourself about it in order to form your own opinion. Very sincerely from your Town Mayor, Peter Höß
  12. Switzerland – Some Swiss regions have suspended the use of new mobile sites constructed for 5G due to health concerns. The country is one of the most advanced 5G nations in Europe, with Swisscom and Sunrise among the first to launch next-generation networks. Speeds and coverage outpace other nations in the region and the government itself is interested in using 5G for applications like smart farming. However, Switzerland is also home to a vocal community of anti-5G campaigners. Protests have taken place in major cities while rural mayors have declared their desire to remain ‘5G-free zones’. https://smombiegate.org/switzerland-halts-rollout-of-5g-over-health-concerns/

2024.05.05 01:07 brasscup Heads up if you are a Safelink Customer "upgrading" to Verizon phone ...

Safelink/Verizon is losing some Safelink customer's orders so if you order a new sim/new phone or both via one of those names from safelinkupgrades.com, be sure to print out a PDF of the order completion page.
Also backup your contacts & voicemails immediately: other people in this sub posted that in between ordering their new phone and receiving it Verizon cut off their old number.
Checkout seems normal, with the requisite statement that "You will receive a confirmation by e-mail to verify your order" but no email arrives.
Also (this glitch may be unique to me) the checkout page listed my order ID twice and the first instance had one less digit than the second, so you may need to try two different numbers when you attempt to track your order.
The latter order number seemingly worked for me -- the status said "processing." "processing," but Safelink support still says the order doesn't exist, despite debiting $47.85 from my bank for the phone upgrade.
Currently waiting to see if their Warehouse personnel calls (the chat agent said my issue was being accelerated and to expect them to contact me, but the time window specified closed hours ago).
Anyhow, good luck, friends!
(To think when Verizon bought Safelink from Tracfone we thought there was no where to go but up).

2024.05.04 22:08 Irinless A comprehensive list of avenues outside of reddit/discord for feedback.

Just a quick list, ranked from least impactful to most impactful.
-Negatively review the game
-Bitch at Sony directly via their Twitter: https://twitter.com/Sony?ref_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Eauthor
-Inform friends
-Bitch at PlayStation directly via their Twitter: https://twitter.com/PlayStation/affiliates?ref_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Eauthor
-Request a refund. Even if it doesn't go through, you lost nothing, but Arrowhead will have more metrics to show Sony of massive refund requests. And if it does go through and they revert the decision, you can just re-buy the game, nothing lost.
-Contact Sony directly. This is their PlayStation support link https://www.playstation.com/support/, this is the only number I could find to call for support - 1-800-345-7669, but I can not currently confirm if it works, as well as a manual guide, but this may entail more of hardware support. https://manuals.playstation.net/document/en/support.html
Here's their Store Support link: https://electronics.sony.com/contactus, and here's the store support phone number. [1-800-249-7669](tel:+01-800-249-7669)
I was unable to find which one of these options is optimal for the issue at-hand sadly, since the latter is not for PlayStation support, but this isn't quite about PlayStation directly, it's about Sony's decisions.
-Contact local/national/internation news agencies. This could put a ton of bad press under Sony's ass - Use it.
-You can try contacting ArrowHead directly, either via mail [contact@arrowheadgs.com](mailto:contact@arrowheadgs.com), or, you can try to contact them on business hours between 8 and 4 PM Monday-Fri at 070-283 00 33. Or if you live in Sweden, you can try writing them a letter - Their company address is Hammarby kaj 10d, 120 32 Stockholm
-Contact Valve in whatever way is convinient to you. Valve is where a majority of Helldiver's copies were shifted, this is an avenue of pressure. Let them know that this is not okay and that Valve should not endorse big market scams like this. 1-2 people saying it does nothing, 1000-2000 does a lot.
-If you live in the U.S, you can send a letter to Sony's headquarters in America, at:
Sony Interactive Entertainment LLC 2207 Bridgepointe Parkway San Mateo, CA 94404 United States of America
Explain your grievances and do not be threatening in what you write.
-Email Sony at [help@ukplaystation.com](mailto:help@ukplaystation.com) even if you do not live in the UK. A representative should be able to direct you to a representative of your nation. If they do not respond within 48 hours, send a followup.
-Lookup local legality. Some countries will have laws in place against these types of practices, primarily in Europe, and especially in France.
-Log EVERYTHING. Every conversation, every post, every change on Sony's website. This kind of thing could very well explode, in which case every scrap of information could prove vital if it were to ever come to a court case.
-Contact your European representative. No, this is not a joke. You should be able to email or leave a voicemail and calmly explain why this is a problem. Make sure you mention that for 3 months, this was not a requirement, and there was no indication during this period of time that it would become a requirement, and that you do not agree with Sony's Terms & Services which are now being forced upon you months after purchasing of a product, effectively leading to them stealing a product you paid for.
Closing thoughts: Do I think 99% of people will do literally anything on this list? No, not at all. But, it's significantly more productive than screaming at a moderator in a discord.
I'm copying this in case it gets taken down, which would not surprise me currently.
This is by no means all avenues, but it's the most I could find in the free time I have today. Rock and stone, for super earth.

2024.05.04 18:19 powderski84 Xfinity’s Uncompetitive International Roaming Plans

Just spend 2 weeks in Europe and travel internationally regularly for work. XfinityMobile’s international day pass is uncompetitive compared to other US carriers—including Verizon, which is $10/day for 2gb.
Xfinity only offers 512mb per day, which is minimal. Worse, there is no option to buy more data—a fee which I would gladly pay.
To the Xfinity Product Management team — you guys are leaving revenue on the table by not allowing your mobile customers to buy more data above the 512mb when traveling. If you’re not going to match the Verizon International Day Pass benefits of 2gb daily, then at least offer top up options.
For my next trip: I’ll just buy an Orange Holiday eSIM with 30gb and use them when abroad.

For instance, according to a report by fishing daily, an Ireland-based news website for the Irish and UK fishing industries, in 2021 there was an 11% rise in sea fish and shellfish landings, with a real increase of £54 million ($ 52.02 million) and a real increase of 38 thousand tonnes. Also, fishing vessels registered in Scotland landed 437 thousand tonnes of sea fish and shellfish worth £542 million ($52.50 million) in 2021. Therefore, increasing fishing activity is driving demand for the small marine engines market.
