I love, and hate these games

2024.05.15 18:39 Dingus-Biggs I love, and hate these games

I purchased a Nintendo switch last year and I’ve been educating myself on a lot of games I missed in my Nintendo free childhood (I was an Xbox boy.)
I played through Super Metroid maybe 6 months back, and I started playing Metroid prime about a week ago, I think I’m almost finished (I just collected the last Chozo artefact)
I’ve had largely the same experience with both games. Sometime around the 20% mark, when the map opens up, I’ll start to really, really enjoy myself. Both games provide a very genuine sense of exploration, discovery and reward. I feel a sense of wonder that I don’t feel in most games.
I’ll be hooked on the game for a solid 6-8 hours, but then when I hit the 80% mark, I’ll reach a “Metroid moment,” where I have absolutely no idea where to go or what I’m supposed to do.
In the earlier parts of the game, this is not a problem, because the map is small enough that I am happy to check every nook and cranny of the rooms I go back to explore, but later in the game, this becomes a real problem.
Once I hit the “Metroid moment” in the late stage of the game, I am so frustrated by the thought of having to spend hours scouring the massive map that I quickly start to detest the game. I just think the maps start to get way too large for the kind of backtrack-heavy exploration/problem solving gameplay that Metroid is known for.
The ‘A-ha!’ moments become too diluted in dull meandering.
The only other metroidvania type game I’ve ever fallen in love with was Dark Souls, which attempted to address this issue by giving you a fast travel ability in the late game.
It’s just such a shame that I loved both Super Metroid and Metroid Prime so much, they both felt like such special experiences, only for me to be left with such a bitter taste in my mouth at the end.
Anyway, rant over. I just have very strong feelings (both positive and negative) about these games and I wanted to put my experience/opinion out there.

2024.05.15 18:38 YourStonerGF 33F, US, Would anybody like to be friends in Duolingo??

I'm rather nerdy. I spend most of my days at home hanging out with the cats. I've loved art ever since I was very young. I have big ambitions to have my own graphic design gig some day.
I love video games. I got a lot to play on. PS5, Xbox One, Switch, Meta Quest 2, and my iPad. So, like, pretty much everything but PC 😅 I also collect PS1 & 2 games to play on my PlayStation 2. In recent years I've been very casual with my gaming, playing a lot of platformers and survival/crafting games. I'll play a bit of everthing, though, except, like, sports games.
I love tabletop games. Star Wars Legion, Warhammer 40K/AoS, Magic: The Gathering, Pokémon TCG, Digimon TCG, and Lorcana. I love to paint miniatures as well, but it's a bit of a struggle to actually get people to play with me. Never really gotten the chance to play an TTRPG, but would love to. I suffer from a bit of learning curve.
I love music. Dance Gavin Dance, Papa Roach, Twenty-One Pilots, A Day To Remember, stuff like that. Bit of an elder emo. I wish I could play an instrument, but I fear I may be tone deaf 🙃
I love Marvel. Spider-Man's probably my favorite.
I love Harry Potter. Pretty sure my house is Hufflepuff.
Huge fan of The Office. I've seen the whole series countless times.
I love horror movies and got into true crime on YouTube few years ago. My favorite horror movie is probably The Blair Witch Project, second to the 2003 Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
I love anime and manga. Demon Slayer is by far my favorite. I also really love Fullmetal Alchemist, Attack on Titan, Digimon, Dragon Ball, and Sword Art Online.
I'm doin' a Japanese course on Duolingo.
I love baking, coffee, and grilling. I don't have too much confidence in my cooking skills 😅 I'm rather adept at baking though, and I love smoked meats 🤤
🟢4 20 friendly because some seem confused🟢

2024.05.15 18:33 Realistic_Badger_708 On building three villainous businesses and how they fit in my world

Hey, here's a bit about my world before I ask about the three companies. Similar to our world, a major difference is the nations developing super soldier (soldiers with enhanced human abilities) during World War 2 before stopping in the 50s due to how the costs were outweighing the benefits. However, SWORD (a government organization) is formed in the 40s to protect the US from any "super" threat and has been collecting anomalous objects and people.
Fast forward to 2011, when Nyxia, a trickster god, opens a portal in New Aurora (a city stand in for New York) and uses the Mind Gem to lead an army of aliens. SWORD deploys the Guardians (Armor Man [CEO in an armor suit], Apex [an alien raised from the Midwest], Serenity [an interdimensional experiment caused her to get light magic], Lady Liberty [super soldier from an alternate US where Germany won], Red Ranger [govt agent], and Agent X [govt agent]) to fight Nyxia and the aliens. The heroes saved the day, though the city needed to rebuild. Three businesses found themselves connected to the 2011 event.
People R Us - Founded in 1991, Karen Ritter runs a therapeutic and career wellness business. Her company has helped get back on their feet during the 2011 attack. However, the company funds different operations to create superpowers. This has lead to the creation of several supervillains. While Karen dislikes superhumans and sees them as a threat to humanity, she's not above the idea of using her business (both public and private) to better people.
Omegan Corp - Founded in 1999 by her mother, Martha, Megan Max is the CEO. Publicly, the business presents itself as a technology company. Behind closed doors, Megan had stolen the Mind Gem to build her drone program. In her drone program, people are mind controlled to have a drone personality control their minds and bodies. In a year, Megan had converted all public staff members and board members into drones while having hundreds more people (majority homeless and missing people from the 2011 attack) working in secret facilities. Megan was able to retrieve Serenity's corpse and revive her (though having her under her control).
Lexxington - Founded in 2011, Zelle, a demon, runs the law firm to help victims of the 2011 attack. What Zelle's clients and employees don't know is doing business with her causes them to give their souls to her.
If you can, ask me anything about People R Us, Omegan Corp, and Lexxington and how they fit in my world.

2024.05.15 18:22 TheParacosm01 For anyone questioning, don't fall back in that trap.

Former Christian here. I took a deep dive into the Bible because my friend is anti-gay on the basis of that religion. This opinion is unworthy of him, so I decided to debunk it for shits and giggles.
1) For biblical literalists, there is no proof the Israelites wandered the desert for 40 years, nor were they ever enslaved. Otherwise, their culture would have at least mingled with the Egyptians.
2) Figuratively, it doesn't make sense either because the Bible wastes so much time listing descendents as If they were real.
3) Yahweh and the Old testament were part of a pantheon of Gods, where El was the head. Here is the evidence: https://www.reddit.com/DebateReligion/s/TqYejiymOF
As for real-world evidence of Yahweh
1) God is not written in are DNA because there is no Sulfur in our DNA.
2) Ron Wyatt's discoveries were fraudulent because his scientific data could not be replicated, so no, the ark was not found in Turkey. And no, he did not find Soddom and Gomorrah.
Don't let Christians love-bomb, gaslight, and play on your fears. These faiths became so widespread based off the power of suggestion. All it takes is a little bit of blind faith, and you placebo yourself into seeing demons and miracles everywhere. Don't mistake "feeling" for emotional manipulation. Even if these churches aren't aware of it, they do that. The evidence is stacked against them.
Think about it, If God is real, why create people, knowing some will kill themselves and go to hell? Makes no sense.
Why would a jealous God create people in times and eras where they worship false Gods who never even heard of him?
A Christian said, "Well, it is etched in their souls what is right and wrong, so they will go to hell for it." If that's the case, why do so many disagree with Yawheh on a moral level in the Bible? The story of Job was unnecessarily cruel. An all-powerful God could have conveyed his message without torturing his follower on a bet. So, If right and wrong it etched into our souls, why did that feel wrong to me?
Not to mention some animals have horns that slowly and painfully peirce their eyes and kill them over time. Why would a creator genetically design them to die a slow and painful death. Regardless on how eternal heaven is, that is unnecessary.
Stay strong and have a nice day.

2024.05.15 18:20 RubberKut 14450515: I did it! I go deep and i go high all in one day, no limits! 🤪😎

Dear diary,
I want to brag! I need to share, i am exploding here. Today, i dove with sharks, fishies, rays and i was flying (sober!) In Abu Dhabi what else can you do? Already seen most of the sights there is to see (there is not too much to see here, it's a desert with skyscrapers) It's a plastic fantastic world, where the main activity is shopping (if you know me, i hate shopping and i dislike fashion and all that superficial stuff)
So i went first to the aquarium, i love fish, always loved fishies and swimming in general. I was just waiting for the tour, when the lady said something about shark diving.. I didn't need to think long and i said yes.. when can i do this? I have to take it.. I dove in the sea, but never in an aquarium before. It was amazing. Because it's quite small compared to the ocean, so all the action happens around you.
Before the dive and before i knew that it was even was possible i dropped some tears while looking at the fishies.. i just... i don't know.. Fish.. the colors, the strange creatures, from crabs to jellyfishes, i just love them. They are aliens, it's beautiful. Once in the ocean i saw an angel, it was a jelly fish, he was huge!! It was so pretty, i'll never forget that. How it moved like an angel and it even protected fish, between the head and the stingy part, the jellyfish housed fishes. It was a protector. It was magnificent. 🥰
I got emotional, just by looking at them.. I don't know.. it's just.. my awe for nature, the beautiful designs, the patterns. i just.. i got emotional. Knowing that we are destorying this planet, it kills my soul i get so angry over it. We should do better for this world, we have a beautiful planet, but a lot of animals are on the endangered list. I am so ashamed to be a human too.. I wanna distance myself from humans.. i don't wanna be a part of it, yet i am.. So when she said i could dive.. i just had to, i feel the consequences later (it's expensive..) Fuck it.. YOLO!
It was lovely, the fish nibbled at me as if they knew me. They were saying "Welcome home buddy, we missed ya". Even a stingray came to me and he nibbled my head, hahaha, it was like getting kisses 🥰
After that was done.. i decided to go to Ferrari world, because the divemaster told me it was the best of the 3 theme parks here. But unfortunately the fastest ride was closed.. So i decided not to go, again it was expensive and i just want the fastest, most extreme ride and if they can't give that to me, then i won't enter. After some wandering around i saw this place where you 'sky dive', in a wind tunnel.. i always wanted to do that.. so i did.
And i flew my man!! I even flew without the instructor holding me and i went quite high ;) On my first time! oh yeah baby, i am a natural, hahaha. It was amazing!!
What a day! I am flat broke, my savings are gone.. But fuck it, i wanna live and enjoy my life.
Now i am back in the hotel, got 3 bottle of beer and that's it for tonight, i skip dinner, just to save a bit of money... lol... (This is why i won't get old, lol... 🤣🤣) I got my music and i got a ton of experience to digest, who needs food? I have a beer belly anyways, i'll survive! 🤪😉
Oh.. but one thing i do wish that i could do.. And that is to smoke a big ass joint and after the joint, go dive in that aquarium, nestle myself on the bottom of the aquarium and watch the fishies, i wish that was possible. 🥰 Perhaps next time, in a different country, where i will meet some loving hippies. (i already dived stoned once before and it was amazing, suddenly i could hear sounds i didn't hear before, it was amazing..)

2024.05.15 18:12 adulting4kids Flash Fiction Prompts

This is taken from and is copyright protected by globalsoup.net, a website that promotes flash Fiction with annual writing contests.
I am reprinting these Flash Fiction Prompts because they are outstanding ways to freewrite and offer plenty to work with for those who want to learn how to write Flash Fiction.
So check out these prompts and the article and work some of them into your journal! Post the best responses!
100 Awesome Flash Fiction Prompts - Plus Bonus Prompts!
We’ve put together 100 flash fiction prompts, each one designed for a very short story. These prompts will probably be best suited to a story of between 300-1,000 words. If you want to write a longer story using these prompts, you can easily expand these ideas to fit a story of any length.
What is flash fiction?
Flash Fiction is defined as a very short story that can be anywhere from just a couple of words to about a thousand in length. The beauty (and difficulty) of writing flash fiction lies in trying to tell a complete story in so few words. Great flash fiction is succinct, emotive, thought-provoking, and impactful.
What’s the difference between flash fiction and a short story?
The only difference between flash fiction and a typical short story is the word count. However, this scarcity of words means that writing flash fiction can feel like a completely new skill. Just like the short story is a different animal to the novel or novella; flash fiction is kind of unique.
When writing flash, you’ll need to use fewer characters, a simpler plot, and you’ll have to make each word count. This is why editing is so important. You have to be brutal. Cut out everything superfluous and really make sure each and every word is performing an important function in the story. If you’re interested in writing very short fiction, why not check out drabbles? Drabbles are stories of exactly 100 words in length, and they can be a great way to practice keeping your stories very, very short.
How to plot a flash fiction story
When you sit down to write flash fiction, you must begin by choosing an appropriate plot. You cannot simply use a short story plot and tell it using fewer words. A typical flash fiction plot is like looking at one part of a story under a microscope.
For example, let’s look at prompt #21 in our list of 100 Flash Fiction Prompts:
  1. Two people on a sinking ship must decide who should take the last seat in the last lifeboat. If you were writing a novel about a sinking ship, you’d probably want the actual sinking to be the climax of the story. Of course, there are infinite ways to write a novel about a sinking ship, but this would structurally be the most obvious. You’d use the first part of the novel to introduce your characters and describe the voyage leading up to the sinking and the sinking of the ship would be the dramatic climax, leaving the last part of the book as the resolution.
The golden rule of writing short stories is to begin as close to end as you can. So, to turn the same story from novel to short story, you’d probably want to begin with the ship sinking. You haven’t got time to introduce the characters before the action begins, so you’d need to feed in exposition and backstory here and there during the events.
All stories need a good climax. So, you would find the most dramatic moment in the story and build up to it. Perhaps your climax would be the two main characters having to decide who will take the remaining seat on the last lifeboat.
Finally, you need a resolution. In a longer short story you do have time to bring in some kind of satisfying resolution at the end.
But, if you’re writing flash fiction and your story is only a few hundred words, you really need to zoom in on one tiny moment in that story.
You don’t have time to tell the entire story of a sinking ship, but you can turn one moment into a story.
We’ve chosen the lifeboat situation as the key moment in this hypothetical story. Two characters must decide which one of them will take the last seat on the last lifeboat. This is an appropriate plot for flash fiction because it’s simple, high-stakes, dramatic, and thought provoking.
Not all flash fiction will have a plot quite this dramatic, but all great flash fiction will have a plot that can be expressed in just one or two sentences.
If you have a plot in mind, but it seems more suitable for a longer story, you can sometimes find several flash fiction plots hidden within it. Just look for little stories within the story, like the lifeboat moment in our hypothetical tale of the sinking ship.
This brings us to our top tip for coming up with ideas for flash fiction stories:
if you’re ever stuck for ideas, you can find little stories within the story in books, movies, and TV shows. A full length feature film might have as many as 20 little incidents in it that could easily be flash fiction.
Don’t directly write a story based on the film, though. Just carefully pick out those little moments, write down what’s happening as a one or two sentence plot, and then use it to inspire your own, completely original flash fiction story.
One of our 100 Flash Fiction Prompts was actually taken from the movie Pulp Fiction!
How to write very short flash fiction
There are several reasons writers might start writing flash fiction. Of course, it could be that they just love and enjoy the form, but sometimes they’ll be a more strategic and practical reason at play.
Perhaps they want to practise the process of writing stories within the confines of a certain word limit. Maybe they are trying to develop a daily writing routine and they don’t have a lot of free time. It could be that they’re trying to break a habit of not finishing writing projects, or perhaps they are entering a flash fiction competition.
Whatever the reason, very often when we sit down to write flash, we must work under an imposed or self-imposed word restraint. We’ve set ourselves (or been set) the task of keeping the story under a particular number of words.
So, how do you plot a flash fiction story when you have to keep your story very, very short.
We’re not going to discuss stories of 100 words or fewer here. Technically, those stories are still flash, however, we prefer to categorise 100 word stories as drabbles and anything under 100 words as micro fiction.
But what if you have to keep your flash fiction story under, let’s say, 300 words? How do you write a flash fiction story that short?
The answer is: get your microscope out again. Remember earlier when we said writing flash fiction is like looking at part of a story under a microscope? If you have to write very short flash fiction, you’ll need to zoom in even further.
Let’s look at a couple of examples from our 100 Flash Fiction Prompts:
  1. During a match, a young boxer must decide whether to throw the fight.
If you had 1,000 words to devote to the story, you could have time to tell the story of the entire fight. With only 300 words, it might be better to zoom in on the very moment when the boxer must choose whether or not to go down.
In a longer flash fiction story you might have time to go into detail about why he’s in this situation and why he’s so conflicted. In a 300 word story, you might only devote one or two sentences to his gambling debt and the large sum of money waiting for him if he goes down in the third round, as instructed.
  1. A family must decide what to take and what to leave behind as a wildfire approaches their home.
If you had 1,000 words to devote to this story, you might be able to write about the whole process of choosing what to take and what to leave behind. You might be able to mention many different choices and have the whole family participate in the story. You’d be able to go into some details about certain choices and the stories behind individual objects or mementos, as well as the implications of choosing certain things over others.
With only 300 words, it would be advisable to zoom in on one member of the family and to focus on one profound and important choice.
How to write a flash fiction story
Now you have your mini plot, you still need to make sure your flash fiction feels like a complete story. It should still have a beginning, middle, and an end.
Just like a short story, you may need to bring in a little exposition here and there to give texture, context, backstory, and to bring some depth to the characters. But, unlike a short story, you won’t necessarily need to end with a full, detailed resolution. It’s quite common for a flash fiction story to end with a quick twist or plenty of ambiguity.
Flash Fiction is much more about eliciting emotions and provoking thought, than setting up and resolving a complex story.

Inside GB-2
“Huh, that wasn’t there before,” Ron said, pointing to a new hole in the wall – another passageway.
Henry turned to look where Ron pointed. Sure enough, there was a new doorway. It must’ve been a section that opened after they restored the power. “Huh, yeah. Let’s check it out.”
He went through, finding a short hallway past it and another room just beyond. Henry signaled for his team to form up, preparing to breach. As they stepped in, they found themselves in a brightly lit room filled with various types of furniture – empty pedestals, comfortable-looking single couches, and empty desks with opened cabinets.
Henry stepped further into the room, eyeing the oddly arranged furniture. The single couches were lined up in neat rows, all facing the same direction – towards the empty desks. It was like some sort of waiting room, but for what?
“Is it just me, or are these couches set up weird?” Isaac asked, voicing the question on everyone’s mind. “I mean, who lines up a bunch of single couches like this?”
“Strange, indeed,” Sera agreed. “They seem arranged as though for spectators, yet naught lies before them to behold.”
Like a movie theater, Henry thought. However, there weren’t any screens or holograms to watch. If there was a clue, it would probably be within the couches themselves.
Dr. Anderson approached one of the desks. “Perhaps this was some sort of office or workspace? The desks and cabinets certainly suggest that.”
Isaac then decided to touch one of the seats, eliciting no reaction. He pushed further, sitting down on one of them. At that point, the couch began to adjust its form to better suit Isaac’s envirosuit, as if able to optimize its comfort for the user. Then, a nozzle slowly stretched up from the seat’s headrest area, stopping just short of Isaac’s neck. “Woah!” Isaac bolted up as the nozzle bonked against his helmet.
“Neural interface, maybe?” Henry wondered. “I think we should leave this to the researchers… unless you wanna volunteer as a lab rat?”
“Hell nah,” Isaac vigorously declined the offer. “Hey, there isn’t anything on my helmet is there?”
Henry dusted off the back of Isaac’s helmet with his glove. “Nope, you’re clear. Just gotta hope it ain’t grey goo.”
He could see the dread and uncertainty through Isaac’s visor. Henry gave him a pat on the shoulder. “Well, think about it this way: if it really was grey goo, it would’ve gotten to us – or the Spiranids, for that matter – long ago. C’mon, let’s secure the next room.”
With a nod, Isaac fell in line behind Henry as they moved towards the doorway leading to the adjacent room. Peeking inside, it couldn’t be further from the rest of the room’s they had encountered so far; not at all what they could’ve possibly expected inside an ancient, high-tech alien facility. It was expansive, with a layout that reminded Henry of a high-end restaurant. Comfortable booths lined the walls, while tables of varying sizes filled the central space. The furniture looked almost human – perhaps even indistinguishably so.
The room was tinted with a soft, cozy yellow light. The warm and inviting ambiance felt soothing compared to the clinical feel of the previous areas. The lighting, combined with the plush booths and elegant tables, gave Henry a nostalgic impression.
“Well, I’ll be damned,” Ryan remarked. “Think they got any cheesecakes?”
If it wasn’t for the alien decor and helping of sleek devices scattered around the room, Henry would’ve thought they were back home. Hell, there was even a bar, filled with exotic liquors that could probably fetch millions at an auction – or give them the trip of their lives. Beside it however was something unusual. Where he might’ve expected a path leading to the kitchen, he instead found a wall with a slight, rectangular-shaped recess that was just big enough for a tray.
He glanced at Isaac, who returned a knowing look. “Replicators,” Isaac said.
Henry smirked. “Personally, I’m partial to synthesizer, but to each their own.”
They gathered around the wall, which didn’t seem to respond to their presence. Taps on the wall didn’t seem to do anything, either. Henry considered probing further, but decided against it. “Alright, let’s not take any chances. We’ll make a note of this for the research teams to analyze later. Let’s keep looking around.”
Henry split apart from the others, pairing with Ron as they continued to walk around the room. They soon came across another doorway on the far side of the room, which opened up into a short corridor that led into multiple sets of doors. Each had a symbol on the wall beside the doors – one that depicted the basic figure of a person.
Ron pushed open one of the doors, taking a peek inside. “Looks like even the Gatebuilders needed restrooms.”
Finally! “Alright, let’s take a quick break here. Bring everyone else over.”
Thankfully, the amenities within were easily comparable to those of modern society. The toilet looked like a toilet, and the sink resembled a sink. Even in a space as mundane as this though, the Gatebuilder’s technology was evident: self-cleaning surfaces and enough technology to put a high-quality Japanese bidet toilet to shame. At least, that was just from the look of things. Henry didn’t think now would be the best time to check whether the restroom had ass-washing robots or not.
After a few minutes, Henry regrouped with the rest of the team around a central table in the ‘restaurant’. Dr. Anderson was already present, his archaeological kit opened and a spread of alien items organized on the table.
“Ah, Captain!” Dr. Anderson noticed him approaching. “We found cabinets that weren’t empty. Most of the artifacts appear to be personal effects.” He held up a necklace, emphasizing his point. “Jewelry, memorabilia, and some other artifacts that I – admittedly – can’t quite describe.”
Dr. Anderson pointed his pickup tool at a small disc laid out on a padded mat. “It hasn’t shown any active properties yet. It’s rather peculiar; it seems to be a solid disc. Lightweight, unblemished surface, no visible markings or etchings.”
“Have you tried touching it directly?” Henry asked.
Dr. Anderson frowned, manipulating the claws of his pickup tool. “Well, not directly.” Catching the implications in Henry’s query, he continued, “I’ve checked for radiation, toxins – all clear. While I’d advise against direct contact, I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t the least bit curious.”
Henry nodded. Yeah, the Doc was probably right, but what was discovery without risk? He reached out and picked it up, rotating it in his hands. As his gloved fingers brushed against the surface, the disc suddenly emitted a soft glow.
Henry flinched slightly, almost dropping the disc in surprised. As he fumbled with it, the disc seemed to respond to his touch. Suddenly, a series of objects materialized on the table, appearing out of thin air.
“Oh, shit!” Ron exclaimed. “It just… spawned a bunch of stuff!”
Henry stared at the new items. Several containers, probably holding some kind of food, were still sealed tight and impossibly effective at insulating its contents. It was crazy to think that the food inside might still be hot after who knows how long.
Next to the containers was a bracelet. Possibly normal, possibly enchanted or integrated with technology they couldn’t hope to understand. There was also a bottle of some bright blue liquid – probably for drinking, but there was no way to be sure until Perdue tested it. And then there was the picture, showing a strikingly human couple, holding each other underneath a gorgeous alien sky. It reminded him of memorabilia people would sometimes keep in their wallets, though why humans were there was a mystery.
The last object the disc spat out was a thin, transparent sheet. Coincidentally, it was about the same size as a smartphone. If he had to guess, it probably had the same function as one, too.
“Incredible,” Dr. Anderson gawked at the items. “The disc must be the Gatebuilders’ version of a wallet, somehow using dimensional storage technology!”
“Akin to the Holding Bags,” Kelmithus noticed. He peered into his own Holding Bag, his expression indicating that he was connecting the dots. “Fascinating!”
Dr. Anderson then inspected the image, his face reflecting the same confusion Henry felt when he first saw it. While they continued to sort through the items, Henry explored the sheet further. The moment he tapped the screen, a holographic interface sprung into existence above it.
What he had initially thought was a simple hologram was something far more advanced, almost indistinguishable from reality itself. Almost instantly, they were surrounded by mountains and valleys, details springing up to form a realistic, three-dimensional map.
It was like a pocket holodeck. The only anchors the projection had were the various icons and pockets of text floating around – and the fact that the hologram was transparent enough for him to see his surroundings and his teammates.
Sera seemed to be the most shocked out of all of them. He couldn’t blame her. The sight was surprising enough for himself, who was even familiar with the concept through sci-fi; how much more alien would it seem to someone from – effectively – the past?
“I’ve not beheld such a spell… ever!” she exclaimed softly, pausing to gather her thoughts. “Hold on…” she continued, pointing to the distant peaks. “Why, yon mountain range! Does it not strike you as familiar?”
“Huh?” Ron squinted at it. “Does it?”
“No, yeah, it does!” Isaac said. “Shit, uh, is that the Ovinne Mountain Range?”
Henry brought up the file for the Ovinne Mountain Range on his visor, comparing it to the hologram. “Huh, yeah, it is. What’s a map of that doing in here, though?”
Dr. Anderson raised his hands in the air and spread them apart, mimicking a zoom. Lucky for them, the alien tech seemed to understand what they were going for. Now up close and in full detail, the Ovinne Mountain Range dominated the room. Somewhere in the mountains, an icon that looked like a pair of glasses sat right on top of a Gatebuilder tower, barely poking out of the mountainside.
Ryan crossed his arms as he scrutinized the hologram. “Is this what, Find My iPhone?”
“Hmm… rather likely,” Dr. Anderson agreed. “This device must be some sort of Locator.”
“Locator, huh?” Having this clue was an incredible breakthrough, but he noticed something else. “And right where the Ovinne Mountain Campaign’s supposedly taking place, at that.”
“Indeed, that you mention it, such alignment is surely noteworthy,” Kelmithus remarked. His voice took on a more excited note, “Be it fate, perhaps?”
Henry smirked. “Hah, you’re sounding a bit like Sera, now. Well, looks like fate’s telling us where to go next. Let’s pack this up and head back.”
They carefully stowed the various artifacts in their holding bags, Henry holding on to the Locator. They made their way back to the locker room where they first entered, everyone excited for the next step in their mission.
Henry stepped through the airlock first, emerging on the other side. As he did so, a faint sound caught his attention. It was distant, muffled, but definitely not a sound that belonged to this facility. He wanted to take off the envirosuit, but it seemed that had to wait.
Ron came through the airlock after him. “Bro, you think –”
Henry held up a hand, stopping him short. He raised his weapon, picking up on the ‘something’s not right’ vibe.
Activating his infrared vision and using the laser mounted on his M7, Henry searched for signs of thermal distortions, just like he’d done back at Duke Vancor’s mansion. Ron did the same. As the rest of the team emerged from the airlock, they quickly caught on to the situation. Without a word, they joined them in securing the room.
After clearing the locker room, Henry signaled to move on to the lab next door. It was just as empty as the locker room, but now the sounds were more audible, definitely coming from the hallway just outside. Instructing his team to hold still, he crept toward the doorway to investigate.
He peeked around the corner, and felt his stomach drop. There, in the main hallway, was a group of soldiers. They were decked out in distinctive black armor and cloaks. They had no identifiable markings or insignia on their armor, but it was obvious – these were Nobians.
Henry pulled back, returning to his team. “Contact outside. At least a dozen Nobians securing the hallway.”
Ron’s expression grew serious. “Shit. Any idea on their entry point?”
Henry positioned himself behind a desk, aiming his weapon at the doorway. “Probably the same way we came in.”
“Main corridor’s the only play, huh?” Ryan said.
The main hallway only had one line of sight, and it just happened to be the only way out. Well, the only one they could reasonably access. The facility probably had other exits or fancy teleporters, but they’d already scoured the area for the former and wouldn’t be able to figure out the latter.
“Dozen hostiles doesn’t seem like a lot,” Isaac pointed out, taking out another Black Hornet from his bag. “We’re still good on ammo, too.”
Ron shook his head. “Dozen? Yeah, a dozen that we can see.”
“Owens is right,” Henry agreed. “We can’t confirm their numbers outright. If I had to guess, it would probably be at least fifty. Manageable, but I’d prefer that to be our last resort.”
“How might we fare with a disturbance?” Sera offered.
Kelmithus gripped his staff. “I might conjure an echo of noise distant hence. It shan’t last, but it can afford us enough time for our escape.”
Kelmithus’ plan seemed like it could work, but only if the Nobians didn’t know they were here. “No,” Henry disagreed. “They’ve seen our MRAPs outside. We’d get surrounded.”
“How about negotiation?” Dr. Anderson suggested, a hopeful note in his voice.
“Negotiation? With the Nobians?” Kelmithus questioned.
They all knew what the Nobians were like. It really did come off as a ridiculous idea, but what if Dr. Anderson was right? The archaeologist defended himself, “I know, I know. However, we have yet to confirm their hostility, and it would not serve us well to initiate hostilities with the Nobians.”
Taking in the silence as contemplation, he continued, “If talks break down, we hold our ground here. It’s not ideal, but we’ll control the engagement area and prevent them from flanking us.”
Henry reviewed the situation again. 12 hostiles, but they should expect the worse, so at least 50 hostiles plus failed negotiations. Holding the only way out, they were likely spread out between the hallway, the cave system, and possibly even the forest outside. Dr. Anderson’s plan was solid, but he had a few minor qualms. In particular, holding the line meant possibly exhausting themselves in a battle of attrition.
“Alright. We’ll open with negotiations. I’m skeptical, but it's worth a shot. Should that fail, we can’t engage in a drawn-out conflict. We’ll disrupt their positions and quickly move to the cave outside.”
“Smoke grenades and flashbangs,” Ryan muttered.
“Affirmative,” Henry said, nodding in agreement. “If we can’t see them, we’ll level the playing field so they can’t see us.”
“Captain,” Kelmithus quickly interjected, “Bid me aid your efforts. I’ve insight enough to create fog. I’ve learned from our encounter with the Sentinel Lindwyrm.”
“You can replicate that heavy fog?” Ron asked.
Kelmithus held up his palm, producing an opaque puff of steam to prove his point. “Indeed so, Lieutenant. Adequately do these envirosuits shield us, that I might harness more extreme temperatures for more effective casting.”
Henry was impressed with how quickly the archmage grasped such a concept. “Good. Yen, get that drone into the cave. We’ll hold for updates.”
Yen nodded, carrying out Henry’s order silently. The drone’s feed directly streamed to their HUDs, and after a few minutes, Isaac looked up. “Done.”
Henry analyzed the data. They had visual confirmation of a dozen Nobians inside the facility itself and a staggering forty outside, both in the cave and around the cave entrance. It was an assumption, but there probably weren’t many cloaked soldiers past the hallway. He sighed; the worst-case scenario would have them facing a hundred men in total.
It was a challenge, but the drone’s intel granted them a critical tactical advantage. He analyzed his minimap, selecting and sharing a route with minimal enemy contact. “After clearing the facility’s entrance, we’ll proceed along the designated path. Upon exit, I’ll deploy a flare to signal our movement to the MRAPs for extraction. We will then rendezvous with Zulu-9 and coordinate with air support before re-engaging to secure the site.”
His team nodded, fully on board with the plan. He took a deep breath to steel himself before checking his watch – 16:24. “Alright, time to show ourselves.”
Letting his M7 sling over his chest, Henry prepared two flash grenades – one in each hand – before stepping out. With his team in tow, he moved to the center of the hallway, catching the attention of one of the Nobian patrols.
“Attention, Nobian forces! We request parley. I am Captain Donnager of Alpha Team, Tier 6 Adventurer. We are on an official quest sanctioned by the Adventurer’s Guild. We have no intention of hostilities and seek to discuss our presence and objectives to ensure mutual understanding.”
As Henry’s words echoed through the hallway, the Nobian soldiers snapped into action. He heard the sounds of bowstring being drawn taut and the rasp of metal as swords cleared their scabbards. His hands tightened around the flash grenades.
He kept his gaze steady, projecting a sense of calm; of confidence – enough to convince the Nobians that even outnumbered, he and his team were still no match for them. More soldiers joined the patrol, until all twelve of the previously identified Nobians were upon them. They kept their distance, but Henry could feel the tension boiling.
Just as the standoff seemed to reach a critical point, the air in front of them seemed to fold outward from itself, like watching the effects of gravitational lensing on light. A figure coalesced from the distortion – so this is what invisibility magic looked like.
The man was broad-shouldered and tall, seeing eye-to-eye with him, even despite the extra inches in height the envirosuit gave. As the last wisps of the cloaking magic faded away, Henry found himself staring into a pair of piercing gray eyes that seemed to bore into his very soul.
The newcomer had an angular face and was clad in black armor with a different sheen than the black armor of his comrades. Silver trimmings and an insignia emblazoned on his chestplate – a dagger through a swirl of mist – differentiated his status. A cloak of the same dark hue billowed behind him as he walked forward and drew his sword.
Keeping his sword to the side, he stopped a respectable ten meters away from Henry. “I am Carvus Alnect Virelius, Umber Vicearch of the Order of the Shadow.” He then pointed his sword at Henry, declaring, “Of desecrating sovereign Nobian territory, you stand accused.”
As Carvus spoke, more soldiers materialized alongside him, shimmering into existence as they dropped their cloaking spells. Henry had expected this to happen, but seeing it play out still sent a chill down his spine. How many more were still lying in wait?
The Vicearch kept his weapon on Henry, eyes narrowing. “Commander unto commander, I offer a choice: cede your Holding Bags, that secure passage may be granted unto you. Refuse, and you shall be declared as spies and enemies of the Nobian Empire, your lives forfeit to swift execution.”

VANCOUVER, British Columbia, May 15, 2024 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- MAG Silver Corp. (TSX / NYSE American: MAG) (“MAG”, or the “ Company ”) today announced that the Toronto Stock Exchange (the “ TSX ”) has accepted the Company’s Notice of Intention to Make a Normal Course Issuer Bid (“ NCIB ”).
Under the NCIB, the Company may purchase for cancellation up to an aggregate of 8,643,374 common shares in the capital of the Company (“ Common Shares ”), representing approximately 10% of the public float (as defined in the rules and policies of the TSX) of the Common Shares as of May 8, 2024. The Company’s purchases in the United States will be subject to a limit of 5,148,977 Common Shares, being 5% of the public float of the Common Shares as of May 8, 2024.
The NCIB will commence on May 17, 2024 and terminate May 16, 2025, or earlier if the maximum number of Common Shares under the NCIB have been purchased or if the NCIB has been terminated by the Company. As of May 8, 2024, the Company had 103,143,078 Common Shares issued and outstanding and a public float of 86,433,740 Common Shares.
Under the NCIB, other than purchases made under a block purchase exception in accordance with the rules and policies of the TSX, the Company may acquire, from time to time, up to 66,371 Common Shares per day on the TSX, being 25% of the average daily trading volume of the Common Shares for the period from November 1, 2023 to April 30, 2024, which was 265,485 Common Shares. The maximum number of Common Shares which may be purchased per day on the NYSE American LLC (the “ NYSE American ”) will be 25% of the average daily trading volume for the four calendar weeks preceding the date of purchase, subject to certain exceptions for block purchases. The Company has not purchased Common Shares under a normal course issuer bid within the past twelve months.
Under the NCIB, purchases will be made through the facilities of the TSX, the NYSE American and/or permitted alternative trading systems in Canada and the United States at prevailing market prices or such other prices as permitted under the rules and policies of the TSX and the NYSE American, as applicable, and applicable securities laws. All Common Shares purchased by the Company under the NCIB will be cancelled. Repurchases will be subject to compliance with applicable Canadian securities laws and United States federal securities laws.
MAG believes that when a disconnect exists between the share price and the intrinsic value of the business, an NCIB can increase shareholder value and per share growth. Further, the Company believes that current market conditions provide opportunities for the Company to acquire Common Shares at attractive prices. In the Company’s view, having the option to opportunistically repurchase Common Shares could be an effective use of its cash resources and could be in the best interests of the Company and its shareholders. It would both enhance liquidity for shareholders seeking to sell and provide an increase in the proportionate interests of shareholders wishing to maintain their positions.
In connection with the NCIB, the Company expects to enter into an automatic share purchase plan (" ASPP ") in relation to purchases made under the NCIB. The ASPP is intended to facilitate repurchases of Common Shares at times under the NCIB when the Company would ordinarily not be permitted to make purchases due to regulatory restriction or customary self-imposed blackout periods. Before the commencement of any particular trading black-out period, the Company may, but is not required to, instruct its designated broker to make purchases of Common Shares under the NCIB during the ensuing black-out period in accordance with the terms of the ASPP. Such purchases will be determined by the designated broker at its sole discretion based on purchasing parameters set by the Company in accordance with the rules of the TSX and NYSE American, as applicable, and applicable securities laws and the terms of the ASPP. All purchases of Common Shares made under the ASPP will be included in determining the number of Common Shares purchased under the NCIB. The ASPP will constitute an "automatic securities purchase plan" under applicable securities laws. Outside of pre-determined blackout periods, Common Shares may be purchased under the NCIB based on management's discretion, in compliance with TSX and NYSE American rules, as applicable, and applicable securities laws.
To the knowledge of MAG, no director or senior officer of the Company currently intends to sell any Common Shares under the NCIB. However, sales by such persons through the facilities of the TSX may occur if the personal circumstances of any such person change or any such person makes a decision unrelated to these normal course purchases. The benefits to any such person whose Common Shares are purchased would be the same as the benefits available to all other holders whose Common Shares are purchased.

2024.05.15 17:59 bestassinthewest 「The Hunter」

Namesake: The Hunter by Adam Jensen Stand User: Theodore Jägerman
Appearance: The Hunter is a blue and black stand with a humanoid torso and a long snake tail for a lower half. The ends of its fingers have spaces in them from which orange, conical claws come out from. The Hunter does not have the upper half of its head, and therefore has no ears, nose, or eyes. The flat plane where its head cuts off has a design similar to a compass, with bones in place of the notches and a claw in place of the needle. The Hunter has a jaw full of rows of sharp teeth, and can eject its jaw forward similar to how a goblin shark does.
Abilities: The Hunter's main ability is activated when it bites a living thing. Once something is bitten, its blood will begin to rise in temperature by 1ºF every minute, leading to heatstroke. This will last until the victim is dead, or until the user is subdued.
The Hunter also has the ability to detect heart-rates, with the compass on its head constantly pointing to the highest heart-rate within 10 meters.
The Hunter is a sentient stand, and displays a cruel and excitable personality. Its willingness to follow orders can waver when a perceived opportunity to finish off its victim presents itself.
Stats: Power: D (It's bite is a B) Speed: A Range: D Durability: D Precision: A Potential: E
The User: Theodore (Teddy) Jägerman is a trophy hunter that frequently goes after any game he finds heart racing to kill. The more exotic the better, in his opinion. Theodore puts up a front of being worldly and cordial and respectful, but in reality is only in it to kill and collect.
Weaknesses: The Hunter's ability can be counteracted, to a degree, by keeping oneself as cold as possible. While the blood will still rise in temperature, it will stave off any other effects.
The stand's tracking abilities are precise and perfect, but specific. The highest heart-rate will be tracked regardless of the intended mark. The user is included in this.
Despite a good deal of speed, and stealthiness the user has trained into it, The Hunter is ultimately weak and frail. It's easy to overpower and defeat if caught. Furthermore, it's easy to bait, given its tendency to get riled up.

2024.05.15 17:45 SpiritedBrilliant703 How the heck does these dudes sell $140 box of 12 cookies?!

You've heard of selling ice to eskimos, but how about peddling humble cookies for $140 a pop? Sounds like a total pipe dream, right? Well, meet the cookie kingpins at Last Crumb - the cheeky LA upstarts who've done exactly that, building a multi-million dollar luxury brand around...baked goods.
I know, I know. When you first hear that premise, it's one of those things that makes you spit out your drink in disbelief. $140 for a box of 12 cookies?! What sort of Willy Wonka shit is this? These guys must be hopped up on something strong to think they can rebrand grandma's classic chocolate chips into objet d'art territory.
Except here's the kicker - their delightfully insane idea worked. By meticulously studying the playbooks of streetwear drops and luxury fashion houses, Last Crumb cracked the code on transforming an everyday grocery item into a covetable status symbol.
Their whole approach is basically an elaborate Jedi mind trick designed to short-circuit our perceptions around what "luxury" even means in 2023. You've got the minimalist, fashion-forward branding that oozes expensive European boutique vibes. The wildly overengineered unboxing experience that turns opening a cookie box into an ASMR-laced treasure hunt. The vegaspilled copywriting that stops just short of suggesting you might actually be eating edible gold flakes or something.
But the real stroke of genius? How they gamified the entire Last Crumb experience to manufacture scarcity and prompt that delicious social media fear-of-missing-out. Their cookies get released in these hyped, limited "drops" just like a new Yeezy sneaker. You've got to black Friday stampede for a spot on their waitlist, then pray you can snag one of the precious few boxes before they sell out in minutes. Which they always do, because these savants have turned getting a Last Crumb delivery into the bakery equivalent of scoring courtside seats.
By piggybacking on all the artificial scarcity and tribal signaling motivators that drive the resale sneaker economy, Last Crumb kicked off this crazy word-of-mouth cyclone. Now their cookies are like the new Birkins - if you can cop a box for yourself or bae, you've gotta 'gram those things to flex that you're an official member of the cookie club.
It's honestly just tremendous amplified marketing jujitsu, repackaging a familiar grocery staple into the ultimate guilty pleasure indulgence. They've essentially made eating cookies an illicit thrill again, like you're cheating on your diet with some wild truffled tobacco creations from the back alley of a Parisian patisserie.
Are the cookies themselves really worth $12 a pop? Probably not - they're just extremely well-executed, premium baked goods at the end of the day. But by cribbing from the basic supply/demand mechanics that drive the luxury x streetwear universe, Last Crumb created both the ultimate grocery store heist story and a new benchmark for disruptive food marketing.
So while it's still undeniably goofy watching people plunk down generational wealth on some cookies, you've got to take your hat off to these guys. They didn't just sell us cookies - they hawked the escapist dream of sugary opulence itself. And at the end of the day, that's one luxury more of us should be willing to indulge.
Key Learnings:
Here are the key steps Last Crumb took to turn humble cookies into a $140 luxury product:
Positioning and Branding
Premium Packaging Experience
Exclusivity and Scarcity
Gamified Experience
Social Currency

2024.05.15 17:41 Better_Initial3920 Finished first playthrough!

So dialed in. Had so much fun with this game. My first souls-like game so I struggled for a while and was honestly so ass for a bit. But I love that really the only way to beat this game is just to get good. There really isn't another way. The boss design for the most part is super cool and does a great job at making you feel that you are really defying all odds to beat said boss. To me the hardest bosses were:
  1. Manus- His attack pattern is so gnarly and it can be so hard from i-frames perspective and it was just so unpredictable. It took me around 30-40 tries.
  2. O and S- Holy shit that boss was fucking insane. I had heard rumors about it but wow was it tough. Just doubles there is so difficult. Had to use Solaire
  3. Kalameet- Honestly didn't really like this boss that much but it was pretty hard. I thought he was a fucking cheese monger.
Some of my favorite moments: When you finally find that bonfire where the first blacksmith is. The feeling of bliss after hours of trying to figure out where the hell to go was unmatched. Also the Gough cut scene when he shot Kalameet, that was swaggy as shit. Also freeing big hat logan, that was super cool because I finally made a story connection on my own and was super excited about it. On the negative side I felt like the 50-75% part of this game was kinda ass. So after you beat and O and S and are going through demon ruins and izaleth. It was just kinda boring and felt like I was just kept on warping to bosses to check a box of a checklist. As opposed to the begining and the end game where it felt more exploration based and you would be heavily rewarded for that.
Overall super hyped. Would love to here some thoughts on my takes and other first playthrough experiences. Also should I play ds2 or just skipped to ds3 and then move onto the other fromsofts games?

2024.05.15 17:31 _Alpha_Mail_ Fanmade Candle Designs - The "Espresso Stand" Collection

Fanmade Candle Designs - The
I'm really hoping I hit the algorithm right with this 🤞it may not look like it but I spent a decent amount of time on this and I'm gonna be sad if this gets buried
In honor of my fanmade candles post a few weeks back reaching 100 upvotes, I figured enough of you enjoyed that post enough that you would want me to do it again, so I'm back at it
First off, try not to judge the abstract design too harshly 😭 I know it looks kinda strange but on just the affogato candle alone I must've redone the abstract part 6 or 7 times before having to give up and admit that I'm not a professional artist
All of these candle choices are inspired off a post I made a while back where people commented on what scents they would like to see (well except the Affogato candle - that was a personal choice). I honestly have fun doing this because I wanted to get into candlemaking a while back but quit pretty early because I don't have the money for all the materials
Question - if I were to also do body care mock-ups, is that something that would be cool to see?

2024.05.15 17:18 HappyGoLacky Big Pots and Root Rots - Monstera Mythbusting

Apologies for posting a novella. I’ll probably get downvoted a lot for this post, but almost every every day I see one or more of these big pot comments in response to someones post. So here goes.
So the issue is much more involved than big pots. Healthy and appropriately sized roots are important to a well balanced monstera. There’s also a ton of other factors including, pot material, environment temperature, humidity, repotting stress, and so much more. I just wanted to address the “big pot” thing specifically. As I mentioned at the beginning, a monstera is pretty hardy as long as it’s treated well, but the more you know, the easier it is to make the right decisions for the plant. The good news is that everything I've addressed above, goes for pretty much all plants.
If you believe I've made any errors above, I'm happy to discuss or chat about it. Hope some of you find this helpful.
EDIT: edited for spelling.

2024.05.15 17:13 Honest_Back_994 Does Anyone Have a Copy of a Junk Debt Buyer Purchase Agreement

Just had Pre trial conference:
Judge called my motion for request for production of documents and the debt buyer purchase agreement burdensome.
“It could be 1,000 pages”, he said. According to the rules the Plaintiff had 14 days from receipt to answer. They didn’t answer. I filed a motion to compel production.
Today was the first time the judge looked at the documents. He skimmed them.
It looks like he considers the bill of sale, the affidavit, and the redacted spreadsheet with my name on it as valid assignment to the junk debt buyer.
I explained to the judge that junk debt buyers pay about 4 cents on the dollar for written off debt. That the typical junk debt buyer purchase agreement has exceptions like as is, no warranty, might have errors, and even an exception that the junk debt buyer can collect but cannot sue. Facts that benefit me, and strike the single page documents that the junk debt buyer presented in the complaint.
I also explained that the documents provided aren’t admissible evidence for trial… they are designed for default and summary judgments.
And that I’m entitled to the complete records as per Ohio civil rule 106 - Evid. 106. When a writing or recorded statement or part thereof is introduced by a party, an adverse party may require the introduction at that time of any other part or any other writing or recorded statement which is otherwise admissible and which ought in fairness to be considered contemporaneously with it.
We were given 60 days to file our motions, 21 days to respond, and then we have another pre-trial conference on July 17th.
What should be my next move?

Does Anyone Have a Copy of a Purchase Agreement?

I'd like to get a copy of a purchase agreement to put in an exhibit for my next motion on my case.
Pre-trial conference the judge said my request to have junk debt buyer produce it was burdensome.
I'd like to show him terms where the debt file is as is, no warranty etc.,
I've searched online, but can't find an example.Does Anyone Have a Copy of a Purchase Agreement?

2024.05.15 17:10 filmgamegeek IJW: IF (2024)

Source: https://www.reeladvice.net/2024/05/if-movie-review.html
Judging by its posters, you might think "IF" (short for "Imaginary Friend") is designed purely for young audiences. However, don't be misled by its colorful appearance; this film is crafted to tug at the heartstrings of adults rather than children. This creates a bit of a conundrum: while "IF" is emotionally resonant for those who understand its context, its deeper themes may be lost on younger viewers.
The story follows Bea (Cailey Fleming), a girl who recently lost her mother and discovers she can see everyone's childhood imaginary friends, or "IFs." These imaginary friends, now retired, have lost their connection to the kids who once imagined them. Bea, with the help of her neighbor Cal (Ryan Reynolds), who shares the same ability as hers, helps these IFs find new "owners."
"IF" presents many intriguing ideas, but they don't all come together seamlessly. The film's overall message is poignant and will resonate with some viewers, making it a potentially relatable and dramatic experience. However, when watching it with kids, their initial amusement with the colorful and whimsical characters faded as the plot's complexity became too challenging for them to grasp fully. The film's pacing also reveals its twists too slowly, making them predictable long before they unfold. Despite its flaws, Cailey Fleming's performance stands out. She is the heart and soul of the film, and her talent shines through in her first major role. The visual effects were also a stand out for us as we feared that the characters might come out as fake but it never really bothered us. In conclusion, "IF" offers drama and emotion but is heavily geared towards older audiences. As a family film, it falls short of providing a balanced experience for all ages. We expected a more inclusive approach that could engage the whole family.
Rating: 3 out of 5

Unique or did my father make this? *please see pics!*
Two pics attached. I made a collage of different backgrounds so you could see that this is not a sheet of stamps.
We are liquidating my father's stamp collection and found this. He was a meticulous stamp collector and we have found a great many unique things.... this being one. Any idea what this is? It says, 'preliminary design' in the bottom right corner and 'copyright USPS 1996' in the left corner.. No other verbiage.
Thanks for looking!

Creating more space involves selecting furniture with exposed legs, mounting your TV on the wall, choosing art and decor that complement the room's scale, sticking to a neutral colour palette, building smart storage solutions, opting for a large rug to create the illusion of more floor area, installing magnetic strips for kitchen and bathroom accessories, and utilising open wall spaces for shelves or wall-mounted baskets.

2024.05.15 17:03 West-Painter-7458 On the lookout for some English library/bookstore

Hey folks!
I recently moved to Düsseldorf and I've been on the lookout for a library/bookstore with a good collection of ENGLISH books on art, design and philosophy? I did check out the Internation English Library, but thats more for fiction and some great autobiography labels, but not much of art & design. The Library in the city I was in before was the local museum (Bauhaus Museum) in collab with the university and it was absolutely brilliant and open to non uni-goers too, with all the latest titles and lots of stuff for people looking to do research-based reading. Is there anything like that around here, considering that the city has alot of English speaking people.
Thanks :)
