For the past few months now, I have been getting random restarts on my Windows 11 machine. I would play a game or spin up a Hyper-V virtual machine and then suddenly, my monitor turns black and I see the reboot sequence. This sometimes happens once every week or so, completely random of course, and I would ignore it thinking it may be just a random power failure.
However, in the recent weeks, I have been getting random restarts more frequently, sometimes everyday, and it is literally causing my computer to be unusable. In fact, it has gotten so bad that at the time of this posting, its crashing and restarting every few minutes or so, and its extremely hard for me to diagnose the error because even by the time I navigate to event viewer, I barely have time to find the error before it crashes. However, I did manage to get some information on the culprit when looking at event viewer. Take a look below, the event is logged by WHEA and says

I do not know how to read this at all and I do not have the resources to buy new components and try to test each one. Maybe somebody can decode the XML data and tell me exactly where went wrong. For reference, I have the following specs on this machine

• CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5800X
• RAM: 32 GB DDR4
• GPU: GTX 1650 SUPER
• SSD: 1 TB Samsung NVMe

I should note that in the BIOS I have reset to factory default settings because I am afraid to brick the system entirely. I have only XMP Profile 1 enabled but everything else is factory default. Then again, I may be completely wrong since I do not know how to read WHEA error logs. Please help because it is making my machine unusable!

For months my computer has suffered from a sporadic loss of display followed by a computer restart or freeze. I apologize if I have selected the wrong flair as I don't know if it's caused by drivers, faulty hardware or if it's a BSOD. It always starts with my monitors going black so I haven't actually seen a blue screen.
Symptoms

• Loss of display, monitors goes black but any sound playing will continue for a while, it also sounds like the CPU fan is set to max speed followed by a computer restart after approximately two minutes. This leads to the generation of a DMP file.
  
• Loss of display, monitors goes black, any sound seems to disappear immediately, sounds like the CPU fan is set to max speed and the computer seems to freeze up / stop responding. In these cases I have waited as much as 11 minutes before turning the machine off. In these cases no DMP files are generated but Event Viewer shows a ton of nvldmkm.sys and / or dwm.exe errors.
  

The first time it occoured was in November 2023 during a loading screen in TW Warhammer 3, at the time i didn't think much of it but it soon happend again in the same situation. Over the coming months the frequency of the error would increase significantly. At the time of writing the error has occoured more than 40 times. I started logging what I was doing at the time of the error. It most commonly occoured shortly after launching a game. At some point it was almost 50-50 if the PC would crash from launching a game.
Statistics

• The Error has occoured 20+ times within 3 minutes of launching a game. I've timed this with a stopwatch.
• The Error has occoured 6 times while in the middle of a game, with 1 hour + playtime.
• The Error has occoured 4 times shortly after closing a game, within 3 minutes of closing the game.
• The Error has occoured 6 times during regular web browsing, reddit, youtube etc.

The Error is not unique to one game. It has occoured when playing 10 different games.

Attempted fixes by me prior to service

• Reinstalling the GPU driver multiple times, even removing it beforehand using DDU and directly downloading it from Nvidia instead of using experience.
• Reinstalling Windows multiple times. Both using the bult in "reset" function and by using a flashdrive doing a completely fresh install.
• I tried pretty much everything mentioned in this reddit thread
• I have tested using two different monitors. Normally both are in use but I have tested them individually and the error occours regardless of which monitor is connected and if both are. The monitors in question are a Asus PG279Q and a TUF VG27AQ. Both connected to the GPU with DPI cables.
• I ran memtest86 and according to it everything was okay.

The machine was returned to the seller and they attempted to fix the machine however they have been unable to diagnose the error. All they did was reinstall windows and according to them "update microsoft drivers" which I had done myself multiple times at that point. After I got the machine back from service the frequency of the error has been reduced, specifically there's no longer a high chance of the error occouring when launching a game. Most Errors has occoured during regular web browsing or in a game loading screen. The symptoms remain the same and the errors in Event Viewer are the same.
Attempted fixes by the seller

• Reinstall Windows
• Update Bios to 2611 (was 1654 prior to service)
• Performed a BurnInTest for 3 hours. No issues.
• Performed a Furmark test for 3 hours. No issues.
• Performed a Prime test for 3 hours. No issues.
• Watched 1 hour of youtube. No Issues.

DMP Files
Here are the DMP Files. There are 10 files from before the seller attempted to fix the machine and 2 from errors occouring after.
I am at a complete loss as to what could be the issue and I don't know how to proceed. I've provided all the same information to the seller but so far they seem unable to diagnose the issue. They never tried to cause the error at their end prior to reinstalling windows when it was possible to almost guarantee an error by launching a game which is sadly no longer possible as the frequency has been reduced. This sadly makes it much more difficult to diagnose.
Recently I tried to check my realtek internet and audo drivers. They all seem up to date, they are either the same or newer than the ones showed in Asus Armory Crate and on the Motherboard's website. I've tried using Wi-Fi instead of an ethernet cable and using different DPI ports on the GPU but the error still occours.

title says it all, my drivers are up to date and my internet speeds are solid but my download speeds are insanely slow (like over an hour for 1GB bad). I have gone through multiple troubleshooting guides and nothing has changed.

I'm on a Windows 10 Pro (22H2) machine with Power Toys installed. I use Fancy Zones to make working with an monitor very easy.
I frequently want to use an Oracle VirtualBox virtual machine as one of my windows. I have a small script that let's me change the resolution of the Linux vm from 3440x1440 to 1920x1200 when I switch it between monitors, but do not know how to size it for the size of the zone I've set on the ultrawide. Right now, it's not comfortable working with it in a Fancy Zone because text and images are distorted (especially when working with graphs and tables).
I've looked at Fancy Zone settings, but other than the two full monitor views, none seem to let me either set or determine the effective resolution (if that's the right word) of individual zones.
Is there any way to use a Windows or other tool to get an exact or close approximation?

Hello, i'm using linux and i need to run mouse configuration software. There is only windows version of this soft. I tried to do this on linux via wine and it opens but says there is no mouse connected. So is there any chance that this software will see my mouse on a windows virtual machine? My younger brother recently ordered a MacBook Air M3 for his college journey, but we recently found out that apparently windows is supposedly better for business majors, so I have a few questions:

• I understand that JMU allows connecting to a remote desktop to complete work on applications that require a windows computer. Is doing so from a mac a hassle, and are there assignments where having a windows machine would greatly simplify the process for some assignments?
• Would using a virtual machine for windows work to complete assignments that require the windows computer? The configuration he got was 16gb ram 512gb ssd.
• Would it be worth sending the laptop back to get a windows machine? If the applications would work on a virtual machine then I feel like that would be great, but does having windows really simplify the hassle all that much?

I'm still here with my trusty Gen8 and my virtualization laboratory on ESXI 8. The Gen8 has 2 gigabit LANs and I would like to understand the procedure to do to assign 1 LAN to the video surveillance NAS and 1 LAN to the Windows and Linux test machines. I read a few tutorials on the web and got a general idea of how the virtual network works. Before changing the configuration I wanted to know if what I'm doing is correct.
Then I go to esxi, go to network services, then to vswitch0 (I use an online translator because my native language is not English so I think some terms in the interface are different), then to change settings and I see that there are 2 uplink with vmnic0 and vmnic1 both active. Below I read the failover order and I see vmnic0 active and vmnic1 standby.
In summary, if I delete uplink2 (vmnic1) from vswitch0, all the VMs should still work without problems, and above all without having to modify them for now, is that correct?
Then I create a new vswitch1 and assign the vmnic1 that I removed from the previous vswitch0 as uplink1. At this point in the new vswitch1 I should also have a new network vm and a group port and therefore I can assign the vm.

I recently did an upgrade to Windows 11. Not sure if I immediately checked my Hyper-Vs, but now I am seeing an error when trying to start one that was last in a saved state.
Originally I was getting Event ID 12080 "' Microsoft Virtual TPM Device (Instance ID ...): Failed to restore with Error 'The computed authentication tag did not match the input authentication tag.' (0xC000A002). (Virtual machine ID ...)"
I tried other checkpoints. The last two don't work, but when I tried to reapply the latest one for more troubleshooting, I get a generic "failed to apply checkpoint". I can't find a corresponding error in the Event Log.

My internet plan is 500Mb/s.
I have two computers:

• My main PC (Windows 11)
• My laptop (Linux)

The problem is that downloading almost anything on my main PC maxes out at 800Kb/s. For example, in Steam, games download at 800Kb/s (sometimes it goes higher). Downloading almost any file through Chrome or any other browser is also capped at 800Kb/s. But the speed is not capped when downloading something from Google Drive or downloading llms through Ollama Webui
Speedtest also shows 500Mb/s
Transferring files via SFTP between my computer and my server (both are on the same local network) almost fully saturates the gigabit connection between them
Download speed on my laptop (which is also on the same network) is not capped at all
If, for example, I wanted to download a model from Hugging Face, I would download it on my server with wget and then transfer it to my PC
Here's what I've tried already:

• Updating network card drivers
• Resetting router settings to factory defaults
• Resetting network adapter settings in Windows
• Resetting Windows firewall settings
• Contacting my ISP (they also said the issue is likely with my machine)
• Connecting directly to my router (not through a switch)
• Changing DNS in Windows

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I have been trying to buy my little brother a copy of minecraft for over 2 hours now. I am a tech savvy person and its really not like I dont know how this stuff works, but the thing is ive been trying to be completely above board with microsoft, mojang, and xbox this entire time and I just wish I was not for the whole process of this purchase.

My brother is 9. Meaning he is at the age that minecraft is rated at, 7+. Considering the fact that he is of the rated age of minecraft, none of the COPIUS amounts of checks for verification should really be there.
First off, I make him a gmail account, then a microsoft account. Now here's the thing, microsoft detects that he is 13 and under because I put his real age in. because of this, he is required to have a parental account linked to him and Im forced to have a family account with him. I find this all to be reasonable enough, and it is done by simply logging into my own account.
I really thought this would be the end of it. I would maybe adjust permissions here and there and it would be fine and dandy. But no.
I go to minecraft.net and log into his account to just buy minecraft and get on with it. But turns out, since he is under 13, he needs a family member to approve the purchase. Ok, fine. but how?
There is a button telling you that a message has been sent to the adult about the request but it does not say whatsoever where this message has been sent, instinctively I thought it would appear in my email as some sort of one time code, 10 mins pass, nothing turns up. Turns out, googling this issue, I have to install a fucking app to even get this notification. ok so I do, I install the app on my phone, logging in and going through 2FA again, and also have to deal with microsoft aggressively trying to take over my phone's autofill, but I did it, and nothing comes through, I wait 20 mins, nothing happens on the stupid app. so I try again, from opening the WINDOWS STORE on my own computer and get the app there. go through 2FA AGAIN to finally see the notifcation on my top right for that request to buy minecraft. Neat. except wait, it is asking for it in dollars, not in my currency, Philippine peso. I thought this would be fine, but later on it asks for my card details in the US, which im not based in. I thought I should be above board with this, and googling tells me I can change this by logging into my own microsoft profile and adding payment details there.
I do this, and yes I could change to PH there, GREAT. Finally, I can give them my money and just buy the game, but WAIT A SECOND, my payment information is still not yet on the family desktop app. its been another 20 mins, and the notification comes through on my phone, where I think maybe itll be updated there, but I never figure out of it does update overthere, because upon clicking the approve button, it opens up a window to what seems to be microsoft store page and 404's. fucking brilliant.
Turns out, on Minecraft.net, I have to switch the region youre trying to buy minecraft from from US, to whatever country, THEN hit F5 to refresh the page, and THEN you can press the button to request the parent for consent, and then finally everything will work to the correct country. Christ almighty, I thought I was done, just buying the game and launching minecraft for my little brother so we can play LAN.
Except, no.
Turns out, now that this computer is tied to someone who is younger than 13, literally every single app that is opened is tracked and flagged by microsoft for being a potentially bad app. and so, now, I have to fucking approve every single app that I open on the mobile app, and I cant even approve them globally, it has to be done case by case and is really slow since it works as some sort of DRM or something. so I cant run the installer, because the installer requires access to the Microsoft store, and I guess it just cant get the correct permissions? So it errors out until I try to get the installer directly from the microsoft store, but since the store is so dogshit, its just constantly stuck on pending and I cant stop it for some reason.
In the end I try to restart his computer in an attempt to force stop the "pending" thing with the minecraft installer and of course, I get a forced windows update.

...after the restart, the windows store worked, I got the installer, and I ran java edition to try it out, see if it works. I tried buying it for him at 12:30 when I arrived home from school, it is now 2 o clock, and I had a class at 3. so I just wanted to see if things were ok. and of course, I see that MULTIPLAYER IS GREYED OUT.
Like the one thing I wanted to do with him is to do LAN, but he cannot lan with me if multiplayer is greyed out. at this point I was too frustrated to try and I go to school for my class and deal with it when I come back.
When I come back I do some googling to see what I can do, the minecraft sceen tells me to go to my brother's microsoft account settings to get it fixed, but nothing of the sort seems to come up at all in regards to that in the settings dashboard. I do even more googling but the articles keep talking about an Xbos family app? I already have a microsoft family app and minecrafts diagnosics are tracked in the family app so I think the permissions are somewhere there. I keep looking for a solid 30 minutes now, and I come to realize, oh shit XBOX FAMILY APP IS A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT APP.
WHY is it on a different app? why do I need two?? OK, fine, ill download it. But, to my utter shock, the Xbox Family Settings App, is NOT AVAILABLE IN MY COUNTRY. And the kicker? THERE IS NO DESKTOP ALTERNATIVE.
I am completely baffled. If I wanted to keep above board with all of this, I would have not only gone through this tedious process, but in the end I would have only had a java edition or bedrock edition account that is effectively useless as it can only play singleplayer because I cant get the xbox family app in any legal way. This is utterly unacceptable.
Who am I even gonna complain to? there are 3 different entities involved here, mojang, microsoft, and xbox, who would I even speak to to try and get any of this resolved???

TL;DR legally buying a copy of Minecraft for a young person is littered with constant 2FA checks, parental control shenanigans, and app bloatware that is imposed for zero reason whatsoever other than to inaugurate you into the Microsoft ecosystem. If you want to have a smoother experience, it would be easier to just lie about said young person's age.
Edit: I know, there is a way I can get around this in an easier way. I could use more dubious means of getting things done, but I wanted to keep things official through Microsoft and Mojang since I plan on having this be my little brother's main Minecraft account like I have mine that I really hold dear to my heart. Having things done officially is what I hope will keep his account supported properly in the far far future like how I have had mine for 7 years now.

I've created my first proper video in Studio on Mac but I cannot export it to MP4 - it fails like covered in this post.
So, thought I'd transfer my project to a windows virtual machine and export from there instead - it will likely be much slower but hopefully I'd be able to export it, I thought.
There doesn't seem to be a save/export project files option, so I tried copying over the original media (.insv & lrv), and the project folder in \TimelineProject to the matching Windows Studio folders.
Imported the media, I note it is missing the deep tracking data, but doesn't really matter as the project isn't listed to open or open manually.
Additional information about original issue:
The project is an edit of a single 20 minute 8k capture. There is no other media involved, just that single file. I did tracking of a subject in the media tab, then added it into my project. From there all I have done is add music (free Insta track in app), clip out the bits I don't want, and add some transitions. The rest is pretty much default apart from picking dewarp or setting FOV manually. Oh and I used Colour Plus at 30.
I've tried removing the music, colour plus, and transitions in a project 'copy', however this has made no difference.
Also tried turning off/on every combination in the settings relating the encoding, and tried exporting with alternative codec/bitrate/resolution settings etc.
I've created a new project, pulled in some media and set that to export and it works just fine!
So I'm not sure what edit has caused this or what the difference is, but as I put a lot of work into making the video I don't want to repeat it or lose my effort.

Model: Macbook Pro Retina mid-2015 (I got it used, and it is my very first Mac) Issue: I formatted my internal Mac SSD (it's a WD Sn720 or something in the 700 range 500GB variant). now I can't install Mac OS back onto it.
Details: So I have, I know dumb of me, formatted my SSD completely from a USB installer stick's disk utility, thinking that I would be able to install the OS from this installer (a colleague of mine had the installer USB). Turned out that the installer had some damage to it and couldn't finish the Mac OS install, and now I am stuck on how to get Mac OS back onto my SSD.
I tried; cmd+R (and shift+opt+cmd+R) - to get the factory/last OS installed (in internet recovery mode, as the base system on the NVME no longer exists). When I get into the disk utility to format the drive, the NVME neither shows up in there, nor does it show if I run 'diskutil list' in the terminal of the recovery mode. The version of the installer it is pulling off of the internet is El Capitan. Looking up on the internet, I found that the 10.13+ installers have drivers to read third-party internal drives, El Capitan being 10.11. So I'm out of luck on this side (unless there's something idk that is possible, like maybe pulling the drivers from the internet using the terminal or something along those lines) Some forums suggested getting Apple's original SSD, but I don't have that option.
cmd+opt+r - to get the latest compatible version of macOS gives me error 5101f when downloading the installer. Again, looking up on the internet, I found that my Mac doesn't have the firmware updated for it to support whichever installer it tried to pull. (I also tried again, after resetting the NVRAM or PRAM, using cmd+shift+r+p, as in some forums, resetting NVRAM fixed the issue for some peeps).
Trying really hard to look for a solution.
Now the next question might be that the SSD is faulty but I know for a fact that the SSD works as I've been able to install Linux on it and create a Mac OS virtual machine, in hopes of creating a boot install USB stick that can potentially fix my issue. AFAIK, the bootable USB that is made using a Mac (in my case Mac-VM, I do not have the option of another Mac machine) needs to match the model I am trying to make the installer for. I've, so far, made a Monterey installer USB. I pulled the installer using macadminscripts (https://github.com/munki/macadmin-scripts) and burned the USB usingAppleapple support guide (https://support.apple.com/en-us/101578). The installer that I created this way, gave me an error midway through the installation that the installer was damaged, re-download and try again. I am once again in the process of creating the install USB stick. But I might try some other installer version. Maybe High Sierra or Mojave or maybe Sierra. I will try them one by one I guess...
It's really time-consuming to download and do, basically, trial and error. I've already spent way too many days on this than I would like to, it's getting frustrating at this point
