The only things that I really remember about it is that it was about some type of bird who gets lost or stolen, trying to find their way home. It was also full page art that I think was watercolor? The birds patterning changed through the story I think. The only other thing that I remember is that the cover didn't have the title of the book. It was a red leatherish texture cover with a repeating pattern on it. The book was thin, but fairly large height wise.

It’s been difficult being a meth addict and drug dealer that didn’t want to get sober at all or stop selling for the last 8 years. Then I lost who I was once the Alcohol and Fentanyl took over.
Eventually, The passing of my wife, the suicide attempts, the violence and hardcore alcoholism to Fentanyl. Being evicted, hated waking up every morning and dope sick everyday. Whole paychecks on drugs. Being homeless wandering the streets trying to steal copper from light poles. Losing jobs after 3 days because I would be sick and couldn’t finish my shift. Realizing my family was mourning me while I was still alive. My rock bottom.
January 27th 2024
My life changed when I found AA. I had just gotten out of Detox 1st time visiting. Left a day early and then the withdrawal symptoms creeped in later that evening. My first meeting I was going through it. I stuck it out and continued going to meetings. I didn’t sleep much or if at all for 3 weeks. Not sure how I did that still.
Lately I struggle every morning to wake up or motivate my dopamine deprived brain. Difficult to navigate life when the reward system up there is fighting against me. My character defects had sometime to develop and hardwire into my personality and subconscious. I would say the things I find most difficult is keeping up with my laundry, thinking too much and negative self talk. Pity party’s that my inner dialogue invite me too..
Simple program? I can make it more difficult.
Having willingness along with rigorous honesty.
Holding myself accountable and having the courage to change certain things about myself helps me. Helping others caring about people. I used to care I thought but I always had an agenda driving that ounce of give a fuck.
Here in the right now that is gone I can love from the heart which I am grateful for. I can now look at my day at night and take a personal inventory of what I could’ve done better. I find that I’m always the problem no matter what anyone does. If I’m angry or upset I think about If I have been self seeking, dishonest and inconsiderate.
How it’s going, I’m onto my second Sponsor. Started going through the Big Book. Planning to go through the Steps again. Got myself into College and I work with one of my fellows. My license was reinstated and I’ve been able to hang my bicycle up finally after 8 years. I am able to pay my bills now and make money legally. My family feels whole again. I have a home group and a service position. I reach out I have grown to love strangers. I have found a higher power of my own understanding. I get to be a Father to my 11yr old son. Admitting the deepest darkest secrets of my past. Being willing to make amends for the harms done. I still struggle every step of the way. I have tools and know that there’s a way better alternative to active addiction. For all of this I’m filled with gratitude today.

Weed withdrawals have been really tough and affecting my sleep so I've been journalling into the late nights. Posting what I wrote tonight here felt appropriate, in case anyone else can relate. I am incredibly sleep deprived so forgive the rambling.
I've been relapsing since December 2023, right before picking up my 9 months. Being back the past couple of weeks has been so beautiful and profound, despite the really difficult physiological parts of withdrawal. I've probably been in and out dozens of times at this point over the past 2 years and coming back in this time felt harder. I think part of it is the shame of coming back after finally "getting it", but everyone has been so kind, and reconnecting with some fellows I lost touch with has been so helpful in remembering why I'm doing this. At my first meeting back in my home group, I got really emotional seeing people who were newcomers when I last saw them be completely different people. It's the proof that I needed that this shit really works.
I've been painting again and drawing a lot with my friends, with feels really nurturing. I wasn't able to make work while I got stoned, and I would beat myself up because I felt like a failed artist. Today I ended up at the same thing with this artist I really admire and I introduced myself and it was really cool to just joke around with him like a normal person instead of being paranoid and awkward. I think weed addiction has a way of making me feel less human. Like the parts of me that are curious, and interesting, and charming, and want to learn more about the world are suppressed when I smoke. It makes me want to exist in a cocoon of comfort.
I think a lot of what kept me from coming back earlier was being scared to exist in the sober world again. The drug has a way of tricking you into thinking you need it - first to have fun, than to relax, than to eat, sleep and exist. I thought it was helping manage my OCD symptoms, but I've noticed a remarkable drop in my intrusive thoughts/patterns. I also went through a breakup a couple months ago, and I was afraid that my feelings would be unmanageable after I stopped. It was surprisingly the opposite. I think the past couple of weeks have been really healing. They drunk messaged me a few days ago being like "fuck you" basically and I was surprised at how little it affected me after the initial shock and hurt. I just said a prayer for them to my HP, which helped me understand that I can't control anything about this situation except my reaction. It's really cool to not "have to" use over things that would have felt really painful if I wasn't sober.
I think it's true when they say you don't lose what you learn after a relapse. I have been in recovery for almost 2 years at this point - day count aside, I can FEEL the difference. Coming back this time, Im a lot more gentler in the way I speak to myself, but a LOT more focused, wiser, trusting the process. Last time around I jumped into the aforementioned relationship, when I was fighting to string together a few weeks. It was very messy. I'm reminded by what an old-timer warned me when I started going out with them - "you attract people who are as well as you are."
I met this girl in my relapse who is genuinely probably one of the most beautiful people I've seen irl and we started seeing each other in the tail end of it. I think my radio-silence when I use has her thinking I'm cool and aloof. As soon as I stopped using I realized I was using her to feel less lonely and it also felt really good to the ego to be with someone so cool and beautiful. I told her I just need to be friends rn the other day and she was so lovely about it and the conversation went well. I think pre-recovery me would have JUMPED at the chance to be with someone like this, but I genuinely have no desire to be with her rn, which is a foreign feeling. I just know deep down I want to stay on this path and I know being with anyone right now will distract from my recovery, my fellows, my art, my work. I also think she deserves better than to be with someone who is as much of a work in progress as I am. This new kind of intuition, where I can feel and trust that this instinct is correct is very foreign to me. Being in the rooms and doing the work and learning how to spend time with myself by being creative has filled this void I used to fill by dating compulsively. This is the first time in sobriety I've been able to stay single and WANT to, which is an incredibly novel feeling. It's also cool to have fellows and know I can call one if I need one.
I think it's important to remember if you're like me and have been in and out that you do learn something just by being here. Reading the book, actually calling a fellow even if it feels awkward, going to a meeting when you don't want to - those things all are real work that is helping you grow as a human. You may not able to see the changes, and it may not feel like it matches up with your day count. But using doesn't nullify all the work you've done.
Not to say it's been easy - I've also had incredible issues eating enough, and I am barely sleeping - this is the harshest withdrawal I've been through because I smoked so much this time. But I've done this before, and I know all withdrawal symptoms will be gone in a month. I also have experienced some tremendous lows in sobriety before, and I know that I'm prone to this pink-cloudedness every time I come back. However, it's 3AM here and I'm exhausted and loopy and starving (but also nauseous at the same time) and I am still so content and grateful to be sober. It's also important to mention that this was NOWHERE near my life when I first came into the rooms - I was unemployed, not in therapy, didn't have a ton of real friends left. Whenever I relapsed I would beat myself up over and over and I've had some dark, debasing moments. It's just easier to know what to do this time because I've worked with a sponsor before, and I had those friendships in the room I formed previously. I also will say I am very lucky to have health insurance and a job and access to in-person meetings in my city and therapy, which makes my experience in recovery a lot easier than a lot of people. However I have heard stories of people overcoming hell to come back.

As a dad, I deeply understand the importance of reading with my child. Good reading habits not only foster cognitive skills, emotional management, and focus in children, but also serve as a bridge between parents and kids, offering common ground for sharing and discussion. For me, storytelling is not just educational — it’s the glue of our parent-child relationship.
Ever since my daughter was a baby, our home has been filled with picture books and audiobooks — from “Mother Goose” rhymes to Julia Donaldson’s picture books, from encyclopedias to “Dog Man” comics, from traditional books to electronic games to stories made up on the spot by my wife and I, these have been her companions as she has grown. Our bedtime story has become the most ceremonial part of our day.

She’s truly amazing now. Although English isn’t her first language, her phonics skills have surpassed those of native English-speaking children her age. She has a rich imagination, creating her own stories with pen and paper to share with friends. Exploring AI

I started experimenting with ChatGPT 4 and Midjourney as soon as they were released. I believe AI is now capable of creating content that can captivate children. Even simple storylines can spark endless imagination in kids.
I began by creating and managing my own media account, using tools like ChatGPT, Midjourney, and Canvas to create content and share it. To date, I’ve accumulated nearly 2,000 followers. One of my AI bilingual stories even hit 65,000 views — a great achievement for an account focused on “pure content.”
My followers are mainly 30-year-olds interested in education and parenting and lifetime, including:
* Parents looking for fairy tales and teaching materials;
* Teachers needing to design courses and activities;
* Illustrators gathering daily materials;
* Couples seeking to add fun to their chats.

Meeting MyShell

I stumbled upon MyShell on social media and was deeply attracted by its ability to replicate voices. Imagine how wonderful it is for parents who can’t be with their children to tell them stories in their own voice!
I joined MyShell’s early activities and got a Genesis Pass. I gradually shifted my creation tools from ChatGPT to the MyShell platform. Initially, I created a rhyming poem tool, and although it’s no longer available, I still think it was a great tool. Similar applications rank high in ChatGPT Store. AI is certainly capable of creating content that teenagers can refer to.
With the introduction of the Patron Badge system, I started creating works that were popular on the MyShell platform, most of which included unique voice lines from movie and TV characters. I immersed myself in editing audio, writing prompts, and designing character personalities, with popular characters like Sheldon Cooper, Walter White, Homer Simpson, Saitama,… They not only brought me income but also daily joy to many users.

Learning and Building

Recently, I was invited to participate in MyShell’s LearningLab. With my basic Hello World programming experience, I began a new learning journey. I wrote my first line of code, defined a button, called an AI component, and created a page. I developed my first Pro-Config Bot — [One Sentence Fun] — a simple but effective product that I hope will bring joy or knowledge to users in the simplest way possible. Everyone can get a punchline with the click of one and only button.
After graduating from LearningLab, I joined ProBot Studio and teamed up with people from around the world who share a passion for AI. With programmers, prompt engineers, UX engineers, writers, psychologists, and marketing managers, I revisited another LearningLab project and iterated on it. Here’s the current version — [Once Upon A Time] — an AI storytelling app.
It features:
* Global accessibility with multi-language support, not just producing interesting stories but also playing them in expressive voice;
* The ability to randomly generate intriguing storylines and detail them out, allowing users to creatively craft their tales;

I'm using some references to the Tribe of One books, having an Avangion living in a tower and blah, blah, blah... But what I really would like is some help on how to make the ruins dangerous during the day, as it's stated that the undead only go out during the night.
Some ideas I already have: - The undead have some kind of vulnerability to bright light, but they are active inside the buildings and some old tunnels. - The M'Ke trading house has a vault occult in the city. And it's protectors may try to get rid of a group of looters.

Good day folks,
I will try to be as brief as possible.
Am from India. Not only education but very high education here's not a choice or passion but a mandate. Almost everybody's a masters or a PhD. People here only studies things that yields great income and that's the only criteria. I wasn't great at it but was told I had brilliance. Anyways, dragged my way through sub par education and be done with it (atleast formally).
Always had great interest in Art and it's intricacies. Apparently security (Physical and Cyber) interested me greatly. Grabbed knowledge from wherever I got and it after many short runs here and there, finally got me to a huge firm as a cybersecurity analyst. I was removed from probation very early and was promoted within the next year. Now I am from a premium team within the team where I consult on high severity cases etc. etc.
Problem is, being in India managers and leadership take great pride in "order". They love when everybody dances to their whim. I am not lying when I say I heard these sentences "You are taking too many leaves" (for 3 leaves against severe medical emergency), "For your own good I will make your life miserable and you can't say no to me", "Being a family here is a mandate" (but I heard from the same guy that he will take care of him/her in a condescending manner), "I want everybody in the office tomorrow" (Said in the tone of when a contractor order his labors). Also once I was directly asked to choose between arts and job and the answer better be the job. Nobody complains aswell as everybody has their dependencies. Some has to take care of parents or families or BOTH. Nobody wants to take the chance of legal/formal/informal/verbal/manipulative measures to fix these things and literally these companies are literally responsible for the country's GDP hence, a formal/legal complaint WON'T SOLVE A THING.
Though I love security, I now completely disagree with the phrase "Do what you love and you won't ever work again" as WORK is basically a businessman scouting for profits by any means necessary and we are just disposable foot soldiers. We may say we are intelligent and technical people but to them we are just another production machine. So, if even I start working in the music industry I will suffer there aswell. So in short, Passion or not, Work is a severely frustrating thing especially here in India as the TOP literally fears nothing.
I want to get out of it and just be. Issue is my fathers' suffering from cancer and my mom's also there and they are dependent on me. I had a choice to marry or establish a family which I didn't choose to go through. But still, I won't ever save enough money to truly retire and my parents are common people and they think it's my problem that I can't fit in. If everyone can do their Jobs and not complain then who am I. So ofcourse I get Zero support and dirt for even talking about quitting the job.
I have the amount of money that will run me 6-8 months maximum but then I would literally come to the streets. I know I am not the only one with these problems. So I am blabbering here. Please help with whatever you got.

2024.05.16 09:03 CustardNatural Is staying in RC worth it?

Hello, I got an offer from Tembusu recently, but I'm wondering if it is worth it to stay in RC. I applied for Tembusu because of their modules, but it is pretty ex. (My family doesn't qualify for financial aid).
Pros:
  1. Save on travelling time. I live in the north-east region so travelling to NUS takes me at least 1 hour 15 minutes. If I stay in RC, time taken to get to classes is shorter.
  2. Guaranteed 2-year stay. I don't need to take up 4-7 CCAs to confirm a place, which leaves me more time to pursue other interests.
  3. Modules. The main reason why I picked Tembusu is because of the modules- specifically the CSI one & Fakes because it aligns with my interests. Also, they replace General Education modules so I don't have to worry about taking additional modules.
  4. Networking. I think staying at NUS in general & being involved in campus activities will give me more of a chance to network with + Tembusu has a lot of tea sessions with environmental conservationists, diplomats etc. and since I enjoyed the talks given by experts in their field back in JC, interacting with the people invited would be a dream come true.
  5. Interest groups. Tembusu has a vibrant arts scene & I'm keen on picking up an instrument. Also, I'd like to pick up baking once more since my house is not conducive (my family bought the wrong oven haha) & Tembusu's baking IG is pretty cool.
Cons:
  1. The cost. It costs about 16-18K for the 2 years (depending on the room I pick + meal plan), which is already around the cost of my uni fees. Rn, I am pursuing smth which costs like 50K+ (dropping it is not an option). Putting this cost on them on top of my 50K+ endeavour seems selfish. Esp since taking Grab to & fro school every day can still be cheaper than taking up RC.
Honestly, I'm trying to gun for mid-term scholarship but realistically, I can't place all my hopes on this. Is the experience of RC very worth it? Thank you!
