I need advice on a lot of things. This is a long post but I feel none of it’ll my situation is cut and dry so I’m adding details I feel are important.
Back story: divorced co-parent to a 2 year old. My ex and I met in 2015. I moved in with him a year later and he convinced me to work fowith him on the family farm. Right before we got married, my grandmother died my mom had a severe stroke. They were the only real family I had to rely on. I have two sisters: one has been gone to another state for years(not mentally stable) and the other is a narcissist mooch who has made my life hell recently and doesn’t take good care of my mother. I had a horrible pregnancy and told him he needed to hire help for the farm, because it was just me and him running everything. After the baby shower, he said he wanted a divorce and admitted he was having an affair with the hired help. As soon as I was cleared to go back to work, I got a part time job for six months, then was offered a position at a new farm that paid very well based on my experience. Christmas of 22, I kicked him out after he told me it was none of my business what he and the mistress were going to do. (He and I were still living together and the mistress was living on the property as well). I filed for divorce a month later since he had yet to do so. I got a local lawyer, who ended up being absolute garbage. At mediation in August of 2023, she didn’t fight for me or a say a single word on my behalf. The mediator ran the whole thing and told me to stop fighting or asking questions or I wouldn’t get anything if I made my ex mad. My lawyer just sat there and did nothing. Mediator said if I didn’t sign an agreement that day, I’d get nothing. Stupid doormat me believed every word, so I signed. I had six months to find somewhere else to live, we had our 50/50 schedule, and we are required to live in the county we’ve been in, which is BFE, Texas. No child support either. The contract I signed with the new employer guaranteed housing, and I had to fight like hell to make that happen. January of 2024, I was allowed to move into a camper at the end of the month once the previous occupant moved out.
Current situation: today is Thursday. I had my son with me Monday and right after the babysitter (who gets paid $15/hour) left, I take over but get a text message from my boss saying she sent an email with a letter of termination. I was in shock. I started spiraling. I called my ex and asked if he could please take our son, which he did. I’m devastated. I’m infuriated. I never thought my boss would do this but she says the owner of the ranch was cutting costs and deemed my position non-essential. I don’t have a degree, and all my knowledge and experience is with animals/veterinary medicine (I’m not a vet). They are allowing me to stay in this camper on the property for one month. I was signed on as an independent contractor so I believe unemployment is not an option.
Where I need advice:
1) I have nowhere to go. The land and housing market in this area has skyrocketed over the last two years. Single acre plots of land are $50k+. No apartment complexes. My only legitimate option is to move back to my ex’s farm. A friend has mentioned section 8/ or government assistance. Does anyone have good knowledge about this? Is it offered in towns/counties with low populations and rural areas?
2) with the divorce decree stating that we have to live in this county, would I get in trouble if I took my son back to my hometown when I have possession of him? The only work I’m seeing available in this area is gas stations and fast food restaurants. I have no problem applying for that kind of work but I’d rather stick to a position where my skill set is.
3) would I need to contact a lawyer before I try to do number 2? I’d hire someone else, definitely not go back to the fraud.
4) how do those of you with no village cope? I have severe adhd(undiagnosed) and I feel like I have some sort of autoimmune condition that seems to be directly related to stress. My body is in pain all the time. I’ve gotten chiropractic adjustments and messages but it provides minutes of relief at best.
5) willing to take any and all advice. Thank you for making it this far in the post and offering to help me out. I appreciate it more than you know.

Here is the notice we were sent: Dear Tenants, Following discussions with the property owners subsequent to your recent inspection, this letter serves as formal notification of your failure to adhere to the terms and conditions outlined in your rental agreement. Specifically: 1. Maintaining cleanliness and sanitation in the unit, property, balconies, and common areas, and ensuring they are free from objectionable odors. 2. Regularly disposing of and compacting trash in designated receptacles, closing them after each use, and keeping the trash area clear of overflow. If the state of your unit is not promptly rectified and sustained in a clean condition, we will proceed with a three-day cure or quit notice. This notice grants you three days from its issuance to address the aforementioned violations or vacate the premises. Should you choose to rectify the violation, it must be remedied within the stipulated timeframe. Failure to comply will result in termination of your tenancy, leading to legal action to reclaim possession of the property and all outstanding contract amounts. Please be aware that while this notice has not yet been served, failure to maintain proper cleanliness and upkeep of your unit will prompt its issuance.
About a week ago they posted a notice on our door saying they wanted to do a routine inspection; I admit there was a lot of trash and dishes in the sink, but there is no actual damage, and the majority of the mess has already been cleaned up. I wouldn’t mind if the lease was broken because I don’t like living here, but in the lease it says that if the lease is broken for any reason the tenant is still liable to pay the remainder of the lease. I do not have the means to hire a lawyer, and I am unsure if the company can enforce this. Thank you so much for the help!!

I recently got approved to receive items in exchange for content through Tiktok. I know that the stuff I receive is considered income. Is there a certain limit to how much the value of the items I receive can be before I have to start paying taxes on them? When I did Doordash, I was told if I made $600 or more I had to pay taxes on it, so I was wondering if this is similar? I’m fine with paying taxes on things, because I’m only going to request samples on things I would be purchasing anyway. I just need to know how much money I should be putting away so I’m not blindsided come tax season.
For clarification, this is through the Tiktok Shop for Creators program, so I don’t have a contract or anything with just one brand. It’s all through the tiktok app.

This is what was sent to me
CHOICE 1: You agree to pay two (2) months' rent to Management Company as liquidated damages or early termination fee in accordance with Fla. Stat. 84.595 (4) if you breach the Lease Contract and we have obtained a writ of possession, or if you have surrendered possession of the dwelling unit before the lease term expires, or if you have abandoned the dwelling unit, or if you elect to terminate the Lease Contract before the lease term expires. You understand and accept this liquidated damage or early termination fee. In the event this Choice 1 is elected, then Owner or Owner’s Agent is entitled to rent and all other charges (including property damages to the dwelling unit beyond normal wear and tear) accrued through the end of the month in which we retake possession of the dwelling unit, in addition to the liquidated damages or early termination fee amount set forth in this paragraph in accordance with FLs. Stat. 83.595(4). However, Owner or Owner’s Agent waive the right to seek additional rent beyond the month in which we retake possession.

I recently moved from Dresden to Munich. I had been to the telekom shop in Dresden asking them to transfer my contact to my new address. But the guy there said that the munich address does not have a glasfiber connection as it was in Dresden. So either I proceed with the same contract but DSL or I terminate the contract. I terminated the contract but they have given me the termination date of next year. And I have already taken another contract here in Munich. I also sent them the rental router back but they still continue to charge me. Can someone help? Termination of contract should be possible in this scenario?

This is in reference to point "(d)" in the photo of a new contract. This jumps out and screams that it is in conflict with the ADA, but I can't believe a company would be so bold as to have something blatantly breaking that law in their employment contracts. I'm assuming this is in reference to non-approced FMLA leave (referring to the 12 week missed work component), as well as some other component of a loophole. That, or the term "disability" is meant in a different way ...somehow?
Just interested in the viewpoint of others that would be more educated on this, as a learning exercise (and also if there's an issue that should be raised with said company before this is signed. Not my company, but one my spouse is employed by).

Hi auto transport community, I am hoping you could offer me some advice on how to handle a bad shipping situation.
SM transport quoted me $435 to ship from Texas to Florida. As it’s my first time shipping a car, I had no point of reference whether that was high or low. Since it was the best quote and its kind of an emergency situation I wasn’t exactly prepared for or anticipating (my mom wanted to drive herself to Florida to stay with me despite my warnings it was a bad idea and well being that she is elderly, she ended up in the hospital so I had to go pick her up), I took the offer.
I scheduled the pickup from the tow truck company for the day before our flight to Florida and they never arrived. And of course, now the payment is $200 more to get it picked up the next day.
I refused to pay that bc I literally signed papers that said the total would be $435, they promised it would get picked up on Monday at the price I signed for.
When that didn’t happen, I decided to cancel with them. I got my DP refunded to me and I booked another company. Keep in mind we are now in Florida and the car is still in Texas at the tow truck place - so we needed to get moving.
Now the new company is having trouble finding a driver bc SM transport refuses to take their listing down unless I pay them more money.
The new company said that SM transport listed the price for $700 on the leader board… so no wonder no one picked it up for $430.
What can I do? Is there anyway I can ensure they don’t do this to anyone else?
Helpful info:
The contract I signed said nothing about a cancellation fee or job termination fee or anything like that. They seem to just make up policies as they go.

Good day,yung SIL (Service Incentive Leave)namin bawal gamitin as leave credit (privilege/right to use pag may sakit/bakasyon di talaga pede) kasi automatic converted to cash every anniversary date of employement.
pwede ba yun?na we cannot use it as we please even if we earned it? so no work no pay kami at yung peers namin from other agencies sunod sa batas ng labor law ang paid leaves nila.. ayaw ng agency namin mag provide contract tapos pinipilit nila mali kami ng pagkakaintindi and company policy daw (agency) ang nagpatupad nito. sinabi ng mismong may-ari ng kumpanya na terminated na daw ang contracts na this nature. can companies with only SILs skew the nature of Service Incentive Leave? thank you po!

Hi, my employer does not want to send me my Lohnabrechnungen. I was fired from my job at Burger King (01.04.2024 end of the contract) and since then, I still have not received my Lohnabrechnungen. I have been writing to my former manager every day for two weeks and either I get no response from her or she replies that she will send me the documents tomorrow, but then nothing happens. I went to the restaurant in person and she told me she would send them tomorrow morning. Of course, still nothing. Is there anything I can do? I really need these documents. (The termination notice states that I can always collect the documents at the restaurant.)

Not positive this is technically contract law so apologies if not, I know nothing about this stuff!
I am on faculty at a major academic medical center. I recently accepted a job offer at another one in another state but negotiated a much later start date (around 14 months). My current employer knows I have an offer (it was leaked to them) but not that I have accepted nor the terms. I am eligible for 12 weeks of FMLA and 12 weeks paid maternity/parental leave (concurrently). I am hoping to get pregnant and take FMLA in this year, then come back for 1-2 months of work before I move to my new job.
I am planning to tell my job the date I am leaving for my new institution but obviously not the potential FMLA plan. However, I am worried that once I announce that I am taking FMLA (if this all works out), they will figure out that I won’t be doing much work once FMLA runs out timing wise, and will decide to terminate me before my FMLA starts.
Am I doing anything wrong here, or am I entitled to the FMLA and paid leave even if I and my work know I will be leaving 1-2 months after I take leave? Would they be able to terminate me before I take FMLA in this situation? They are a big reputable university.

I'm am currently in the process of negotiating a partnership with a company, to represent their products (premium alcoholic beverages) in a foreign country where they're not an established brand yet.
I have lived in the country for multiple years, studied its culture and society in depth, speak the language very well and know the market trends, the people's mentality, promotional techniques etc. pretty well. I believe I bring extensive market knowledge and will be handling market analysis, compliance, and help the partner company develop effective promotional strategies and execute some of the promotions, among other services.
However, I have some concerns about the fairness and structure of the compensation they're offering, and I'd appreciate some insights from those who have experience in similar situations.
Here’s a summary of the situation and my concerns:
  1. Services and Compensation: I'm not just making direct sales; I'm also involved in strategic market development which includes tasks that extend beyond simple sales efforts (as mentioned above).
  2. Their Offer: Thy offered me a 5% sales commission as the sole form of compensation (which is supposed to cover all the other services I will provide as well - which is not only well under my initial proposed comission, but also the same comission they offer everyone (allegedly). I tried to argue, that the value of all the services is higher than just standard comission, but no luck. Instead they suggested a clause where they would continue to pay me a commission for 5 years after any potential termination of the contract.
  3. My Concerns: My efforts would not only aid in direct sales but also significantly enhance the company's overall market presence, which benefits all current and future distributors. My worry is that other sellers and distributors, who might come in later and under the same terms (company says their 5% is standard for all representatives), will benefit from my foundational work without any cost to them. This could potentially mean that my intensive upfront investments in the brand’s development would subsidize their entry and competition against me.

I'm a newbie at work and I'm still in my trial period, yesterday this intern came into our (me and my newbie collegue) office asking for "help", the engineer who was supervising him aka my superior wasn't around so i thought he was genuinely asking for help.
It turns out the intern was pretending to ask for help just to get answers without actually doing any work. He initially asked another engineer for a report on a study similar to his, but that didn't work out, so he came to us newbies. I thought it was okay to help him out by sending the report, not realizing his true intentions.
I informed my superior today that i sent this stupid intern the report and he basically told me he was refraining from doing so cuz he explained everything to to the intern already and he was just playing dumb to get the easy way out. My superior also said that i should try to keep this contained and not let it get to the boss and told me to avoid having this happen again cuz the reports are confidentiel and they could fall in the hands of our competitors.
Which makes me anxious cuz what if this intern sends this report to someone else and it gets out and my boss finds out, he'll yell at me and fire me. I feel so uneasy and idk what to do. My contract says if i make a grave mistake such as divulging confidentiel information or professional secrets it could lead to my contract being terminated with no compensation or a notice and idk if this mistake falls under that category cuz i didn't mean to get information out, i was just helping out an intern or so I thought.
Idk if I'll get to keep my job and my superior isn't around rn so i can’t really discuss with him for their im in distress and my head hurts and i cant work effectively now thinking that I could be fired. What do you think?

I’ve asked the builders rep who I’m working with to show me what the dark and light trim looks like now over 5 times and she either doesn’t respond or says “she is out of office” when she gave me a one week deadline.
She’s now sent me the same pieces of paper with rectangles (blocks of color on paper) and no real examples of the colors on actual houses when my house is the last to be built so there should be plenty of examples. I really need to see the difference between the light and dark trim, as well as the model of my home, and she hasn’t even shown me what my brick will look like on a house.
I went there twice for this and it was a complete waste of my time because she wouldn’t show me any real examples. This is the first time I’m purchasing a home (400K which isn’t cheap to me at age 27) and I am about to call it a loss on the down payment because this lady has made my experience absolutely miserable.
She has only sent me samples of a color block on a sheet of paper and nothing in person or Id even accept a software program since they have one. I am guessing she doesn’t know how to work it.
Is there a way for me to get out of the contract if she isn’t doing her job? Is this at all normal?
