Old Red Cross/ donate blood commercial
2024.05.17 01:03 3offive Old Red Cross/ donate blood commercial
There was a commercial where a guy was playing guitar in a room and was just kind of riffing and then at one point he strums out a chord and kind of holds it and the camera zooms in on his arm showing a bandage indicating that he had donated blood. That was the message of the commercial, to donate blood. He then goes on to continue playing guitar as the commercial ends. There were no lyrics. I can’t find the commercial for the life of me.

2024.05.17 00:45 Micccckkkkkk45 11/52 vs 12/52 strings (Noob)
Hi, I'm a beginner playing on a CD-60S acoustic. I currently have stock strings on the guitar (12/52). I'm having some difficulty playing the F chord without making the BAR strings buzz. Would 11/52 strings help me or is it to close from 12/52 to make any difference? Any other strings suggestion to help me a little play the F chord? I don't want to have problems with the neck...

2024.05.17 00:10 Wonderful-Ad5417 how does the chord progression "i, flat III, flat VII, IV" translate to guitar?
I'm not really good at music theory but I understand basic minor and major chord progressions. I'm trying to recreate this "wonderwall" progression I saw on youtube "i, flat III, flat VII, IV" and the "flat" chords are throwing me off. If I'm in A minor, do I only take a C major chord in third position and shift it one fret left and do the same for the G chord in 3 position, just slide it one fret left? Or is it more complicated, because it just doesn't sound right if I do what I just said (I have really bad listening skills so it might just be me)?

2024.05.16 23:09 pathfinder-06 What am I missing in Ear Training?
I have been practicing ear training for 8 months now and I am getting nowhere. I cant recognise chords or intervals at all. I have spent hours practicing and singing the intervals on guitar. When I hear songs I can sometimes figure out the key by playing notes chromatically and thats about it. I have also spent countless hours on ear training apps during commute. I have even practiced intervals on the keyboard.
Can someone help me bridge the gap? What am I missing? What can I do to improve? A structured plan is appreciated or material/book/course.
PS. I am a self taught guitarist

2024.05.16 22:30 frenxine Hello, trying to find a female vocalist for my track
It's been a while since I composed my first song. It's almost done with the exception of the bass. It's a track based entirely on me and my clean guitar playing some chords and a female vocalist is everything that that song needs to be complete No need to see me personally, I just need the audio track
If someone shows here, I would be extremely thankful:)

2024.05.16 22:23 Appropriate_Jelly211 advice on learning on my own?
i’m really interested in electric guitar and i think ive got the basics down (basically just chords and a few simple riffs). however, i have no desire to get formal lessons just because i find music lessons to be boring, i much prefer learning on my own. that being said, is there a lesson plan that i should follow? what should i learn next after chords and scales? how do i learn to move up and down the fretboard quickly?
any advice is greatly appreciated!

2024.05.16 21:58 saluke How to get used to Fret Buzz?
Hi all. I’ve had a epiphone les paul for a few years but am still a newbie because I took long breaks in-between. This week I decided to start playing again and start working on the barre chords (one of the reasons I stopped last time). However, that made me realise that my bridge is rather high and I remembered that I did that because the fret buzz was too annoying (not caught in amp from what I remember).
Now I have read that fret buzz is common and you cannot really get rid of it (I even brought this guitar to a professional shop a few years ago and they also mentioned that). However, I would not be making this post if it wasn’t for the following question:
How do I get used to the constant buzzing when playing?
I don’t think I really have OCD, but the moment i hear fret buzz my mood switches to being incredibly annoyed because it is not ‘perfect’. Therefore, I’d like to hear YOUR stories on how you’ve gotten used to it.
Also, I am planning to buy one of those set up kits with a ruler* and learn how to do a set up myself. The shop I used to go to which did it for a reasonable price closed down a few months ago and is waiting for a reopening and the only other shop asks +/- €90 for a set up, so I’d rather learn it myself. If you do not have an answer to my main question, but a tip for learning set ups, please feel free to let me know as well!!
Thanks!
Edit* ruler not liner

2024.05.16 21:49 thong_water What is the point?
Like the chords, the scales and the toan, but like idk seems repetitive and just played out. Like I've quit smoking, I can quit guitar. Who invented this shit. It's an instrument of torture. The gear doesn't matter. Nothing matter. Then once you get a hot wife, and she dumps ya for her boyfriend, all bets are off and it's kinda hard to be homeless with an electric guitar, so it's gotta be an acoustical geetar.

2024.05.16 21:48 t9nzy Self-playing arduino-powered electric guitar
Hi all, I'm new to Arduino and hardware engineering in general. I saw online a couple of projects creating a self-playing guitar with arduino and I was hoping to replicate this project but I'll probably have make it a lot simpler since I'm a beginner. Design wise, I thought of something similar to this:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n_6JTLh5P6E and so I was thinking of using solenoids for linear motion to hold down on the strings to play chords.
I'm wondering if the above is a good idea though because when I watched this video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RfrDtAEQ95con on connecting a solenoid to an arduino, just one solenoid used up a lot of pins on the arduino. I'm not sure how it'd work if I have to connect likely up to 30 solenoids (6 strings x 5 frets) in the future.
If anyone has any thoughts on this or better ideas to go about executing this, please let me know! :-) (also please let me know if the Youtube video's design even uses solenoids, I just made a guess and did some googling)

2024.05.16 20:35 Dontaskabout6-17-11 I want to learn the banjo- any song suggestions?
I’ve been the guitar for about two years and I inherited and banjo and I want to learn how to play it. I like to think I’m pretty decent at finger style on the guitar so I think that’s a good segue into clawhammer, so some suggestions would be nice, but if I should start with more beginner stuff like chords, that would be good to know. I prefer folk over country but it would also be cool to play some banjo covers of rock songs. I’m have a decent grasp on music theory so translating guitar tabs into banjo tabs shouldn’t be too difficult, but specific suggestions for songs would be appreciated. If this is the wrong subreddit for this lmk, thanks!
