The Twilight Saga

2008.08.11 17:24 The Twilight Saga

The Twilight Saga is a series of YA books and films that follow Bella Swan, whose life changes after she meets the mysterious Edward Cullen in the small town of Forks, Washington. When long-buried secrets rise to the surface, Bella finds herself torn between the human world and the supernatural world of vampires and werewolves. Twilight has fostered a close community since its release in 2005, and Twilight is proud to have served as the home of The Twilight Saga on Reddit for over a decade.

2024.05.14 21:03 Mirrored_reflection_ Bella suffering same fates as Rosalie, Esme and … Alice?

Not sure if this has been done before but it keeps playing on my mind. Has anyone else noticed how Bella has suffered similar situations that caused the Cullen girls to become vampires? Rosalie was when Edward saved Bella from the men in Port Angles (Twilight). Esme was when Bella went cliff jumping (New Moon) and Alice I’m a bit stumped on? Is it when James failed to kill Bella, which he tried to do with Alice but Alice was turned by another vampire to prevent James from killing her. So it’s almost as if Bella has survived everything that they didn’t and managed to remain human. Thought? Or am I trying to make crazy connections?!

2024.05.12 06:32 Initial-Mountain9409 Does this look like ASD/ADHD at all, or just trauma?

For context, I have a history of OCD, starting around 10 years old (starting off strong with the co-morbidities rate) and quiet BPD starting around age 20. (Estimation on both of those.) I grew up with parents who also had trauma and are entirely emotionally immature, causing emotional/psychological/financial abuse and emotional neglect.
My working theories are that my father possibly has ADHD and narcissistic traits, as he explains being exactly like a family member of ours who seems to exhibit ADHD traits, as a child, and therefore they family member is perfectly normal. The ADHD would explain his self-proclaimed constant energy and the pile of projects he begins and abandons. This could also be a reason feeding his episodes of spontaneous rage. (or maybe he’s ~just~ abusive.)
My mother (who had some extra spicy trauma including drug use during pregnancy from her mother) which seems to have led to learning disabilities such as dyslexia and dyscalculia. She is easily fooled, consistently does not understand/feels defensive about coming off as rude when “not trying to be” as she says, some sensory issues, and frankly some borderline tendencies to blow up and then tell you how much she loves you. (I unfortunately know these feelings all too well.) She also says that she feels she deals with hyper empathy. (Ironic, but go off sis, maybe she does.) She has a hard time with idioms when they aren’t the common everyday ones and even those she seems to ~slightly~ be off on.
My family has several autistic children on my father’s side and mother’s side. Until now, I would absolutely not had expected anyone in my family to be autistic.
Here are my traits that I find a little fishy to all co-exist.
My mother reports this about my early childhood:
When I did the CAST assessment with her about myself as a young child, I scored a 19 out of 31, “indicating possibly AS or related social-communication difficulties.”
My AQ score is 117.
Compensation subtotal:33 Masking subtotal:43 Assimilation subtotal:41
And my RAADS-R score is 114.
Language subtotal: 6 Social relatedness subtotal: 56 Sensory/motor subtotal: 27 Circumscribed interests subtotal: 25
I have heard that people with trauma can score as high. My CAT-Q score is
My Aspie quiz score was 133 of 200. (98% probability of being atypical/nd)
The reasons I find myself gravitating towards the possibility of autism/adhd are:
I’m too tired to continue this list at the moment, but… does any of this come off as more than trauma/bpd/ocd?? Am I just… insane? Are all of these disorders combined enough to make someone feel insane? I am so very genuinely asking this because I am at my wits end and I need answers. I don’t… feel autistic that way I knew I was borderline.
I always identified autistic traits in my friends but not myself until now that I’m really searching for an answer.

Here are my traits that I find a little fishy to all co-exist. My mother reports this about my early childhood: I did not like people or being around people & I hid that anxiety well. (Still do.) I spoke earlier than my siblings, and in general. I was an advanced reader, and was reading before kindergarten. (Stopped reading as much around 12 because I lost all attention span/ability to focus on it. Most an audiobook type of person now.) When I started school I seemed more anxious and stimming behaviors, such as leg bouncing seemed to occur. She reports no difficulty with transitions. (However, as an adult I feel I do need extra time to move from task to task.) Uncomfortable with hugging and touching other people. (Yep) I was “mature for my age.” “An old woman in a child’s body.” (Sigh) I would seem to be off in my own little world. I would try to control play with friends and become upset if they didn’t play how I wanted to. (I remember as a child feeling as if I was “hosting” my friend like an adult with a guest and after a few hours I felt tired of doing so.) I would constantly call to get picked up from the sleepover and was most comfortable being home. I would enjoy a friends company but after a few hours I was happy to say goodbye to my gist. I seemed relieved when they were gone. I was stuck to my mother’s side. I couldn’t really tolerate the heat or loud noises (I would/do cover my ears.) I was possessive of my things. I would cry when I was angry. (Included because she fails to remember any “meltdowns” only this and possibly shutdowns.) I was very clumsy. I couldn’t tolerate tight clothing. I did have an interest in running water in the bath and sinks. (I asked her this because I heard it’s a thing. lol) I seemed to dislike the sensation of brushing my teeth. I’d have my name called multiple times and would not respond. I would focus intensely on activities. I would talk non-stop or I would be very quiet. I would want the same baby doll from the store every single time. I had 20+ of the exact same baby doll, and for a lot of them I would give them names and write it on the back of their heads. 😭😭 I seemed to internalize/shut down instead of externalize or throw fits. I generally only kept one friend at a time. I was very shy. I also stayed around adults. I tended to follow my sister around, (and I often do still, at all family social events, even to the bathroom.) My interests dominated the conversation. For me, this was the high school musical to twilight pipeline. I had everything themes twilight that I possibly could. Blankets, popcorn buckets, candy boxes (gifts from teachers who saw me as the child who was obsessed with twilight)(my classmates also saw me that way), etc and etc. I made scrapbooks and saved stickers and tattoos and even knew where they were filming the next movies. (rio.) I asked a lot of questions When I did the CAST assessment with her about myself as a young child, I scored a 19 out of 31, “indicating possibly AS or related social-communication difficulties.” My AQ score is 117. Compensation subtotal:33 Masking subtotal:43 Assimilation subtotal:41 And my RAADS-R score is 114. My CAT-Q score is My Aspie quiz score was 133 of 200. (98% probability of being atypical/nd) The reasons I find myself gravitating towards the possibility of autism/adhd are: several undiagnosed autistic presenting friends and romantic partners (that’s suspicious) constant movement (stim-like, but socially accepted behaviors) such as constantly moving my feet (especially when more stimulated) or swaying in place while I stand, or twirling/playing with my hair. a lifetime of hyper sensitivity/hyper empathy. Ex: Not being able to watch a show without mentally preparing for its contents to affect my emotions in a way that seems not to happen to NT people. Constantly feeling misunderstood, seeking not to offend people yet somehow always saying the wrong thing or coming off the wrong way when speaking on sensitive subjects. I can read social cues, frankly, too well. This seems to conflict with ASD. Yet, I find myself feeling as if everyone else knows what to do and say while I don’t. I constantly ask questions to confirm what I believe is being asked of me or to confirm how a person is feeling. It’s like, I know, but I do have to double-check. I generally tend to read off someone’s vibe as not being interested in what I’m saying, but then they say they are, so I keep talking. Life long intensity. I may come off as too excited to be new friends with someone. Usually I end friendships prematurely by asking to trauma dump right away (because I genuinely find it interesting to talk about trauma) and even checking in throughout the conversation, yet then find that person never speaking to me again <3 Special interests. I feel intensely about psychology. I could talk about mental illness for hours. Even going on this several day binge so far of Autism/ADHD/Trauma content trying to get to the bottom of it all, it’s like there’s this excited energy in my chest. Even when I’ve seemed to drive myself almost insane by the amount of information I’m taking in and the amount of time I’m spending on it, I still like doing it. Even if I start to focus on something else, my mind comes right back. I just got out of my stardew valley fixation after weeks of playing every single day all day and finishing the entire game, eating up all the lore, and getting the achievements. Monopolizing/oversharing/hyperverbal. Again, I can’t help but tell practical strangers (as long as they have a good vibe) everything about me and my trauma. My issue is that, again, I find trauma interesting. I also just… find it most natural to be an open book. When people say “it’s okay to keep your own secrets” I just… don’t… want to…? Which causes some issues I think when it comes to people liking me or not or thinking I’m weird or not. I also would prefer to never shut up. I love talking. I conceptualize my feelings better verbally, even speaking to myself when I’m super conflicted about something or I’m overwhelmed and trying to identify my feelings. I consciously have to tell myself to give my conversation partners a turn, especially when I’m feeling particularly chatty. A life long curiosity. Why? Why do people do what they do? Why do they react the ways they do? Why do they handle situations the way they do? I remember being a small child and mentioning the concept of (morbid topic for my age) and why people dealt with it the way they did. I always find myself looking for the reason why, even to questions that may not have one, I cannot accept there is no answer. (This whole post being an example.) I consistently use metaphors to describe the way I’m feeling to other people. Sometimes they don’t really get why - but it’s what feels most meaningful and accurate to me. Feeling like I’m not inherently feminine enough, which feels like it’s goes into the territory of gendeautism. I know that I do identify with being a woman, but… it’s like I’m just a blob or a I’m a ying-yang of feminine and masculine, and it upsets me that the masculine is in there because it discredits what little femininity I do feel. Decision making paralysis. Huge issues with executive dysfunction Collecting traits and sayings and ways of speaking not to be “normal” but because I just wanted that trait to use for myself. Like, I’m a collection of little things I see other people do that I like or think are interesting. The feeling of masking. Always feeling like I’m pretending to be normal. Having the running inner monologue of “I’m just like you, I swear! I also know how to live a human, productive and healthy life!” (Now picture me rocking back and forth in a corner) Having a job means not having a life. I cannot both have a job and do household chores and take care of myself. I cannot fully explain this, but it’s like every bit of my energy is sucked into having a job and ~being a person who has a job.~ By the time I’m home or I have a day off, I have absolutely no physical energy to spare and barely any mental energy. I take almost any take on anything at face value. If you seem sure, I believe you. The only things I can’t be shook on are moral values. But, every time else, while I both have this distrust and learned skepticism, my natural reaction is to fully take in the opinion as fact. While I both fear and distrust people from my experiences, I also just am naturally trusting and gullible in nature. Being gullible was a huge issue for me as a child, before I learned skepticism. A feeling of energy in my body often that I feel like I just need to quietly scream out or shake out. Like my mind is on vibrate Not having routine makes me wanna 💀 but the concept of having too much makes me feel suffocated. Perfectionism, ex: feeling like I have to do it JUST right, like cleaning fully or not at all, which leads to a lot of not at all. -when a boundary is not said in direct cut language I have a tendency to not understand where they start and end or cross them without intending to. This caused a lot of issues with my last romantic relationship. -also have a very hard time conceptualizing setting my own boundaries but that could be trauma yknow. -lifelong anxiety, intense emotions, losing everything, procrastination that’s frankly unhealthy, etc I’m too tired to continue this list at the moment, but… does any of this come off as more than trauma/bpd/ocd?? Am I just… insane? Are all of these disorders combined enough to make someone feel insane? I am so very genuinely asking this because I am at my wits end and I need answers. I don’t… feel autistic that way I knew I was borderline. I always identified autistic traits in my friends but not myself until now that I’m really searching for an answer.

2024.05.11 22:09 gurush Excession is awful

Just your opinion, different people, different tastes, whatever. I just finished the book, I am angry and I need to vent. The writing and worlbuilding are superb but the story is so annoying. I want my time back and curse people who have the audacity to recommend the book. I am unable to comprehend how anybody could enjoy it.
All the human characters are insufferable. Ulver Seich is an irksome spoiled brat. If only she got a proper character development during the course of the book. But she does not. Or if only she had any particular skill that would make her useful despite her personality. But she does not (not even her visual similarity to Dajeil matters since her look gets completely altered anyway). Or if only the Minds calculated that she would be perfect to seduce Byr because he has a thing for vain bitches. But no, the only thing necessary to seduce Byr is to be vaguely female. Literally any other random person from Phage Rock would be a better agent. (Also I am not sure why she was recruited at all, I do not get why the anti-conspirators even wanted to stop Byr.)
Dajeil Gelian is a boring, sulking psycho. There are no repercussions for the horrible thing she did. And her 40-year long-lasting self-imposed exile is the most embarrassing thing I have read about since Bella grieving for months after Edward broke up with her in Twilight.
Byr Genar-Hofoen is kinda an asshole womanizer with no redeeming qualities. At least the things he does are quite interesting. But that does not matter, does it? Nothing any of the human characters do has any impact on the story! They are just there to be pawns manipulated by the Minds! (INB4 that is the point of the book.)
During the group chat of the Interesting Times Gang, it is not easy to distinguish one Mind from another, especially since their personalities range from juvenile and quirky to quirky and juvenile. They have open contempt for humans (meat is the worst slur they are able to come up with) and are making decisions without giving a single fuck about them. A selfish ship is perfectly willing to let Byr die just because it feels bad about a single wrong decision it made 40 years ago. (Never mind recklessly risking the lives of other people, AI and another ship on fools errant, because even though it had 40 fucking years, the best time for couples counseling is literally seconds before facing destruction - or possibly something even worse.) (And not like the trickery was even necessary, Sleeper Service could just fly through an Affronter system and displace Byr aboard with exactly the same result at any point during the last 40 years. ) Seemingly confirming Horza was right about the true nature of the Culture after all.
The ending is a huge letdown. Affronters are described as cartoonishly evil and cruel and they remain cartoonishly evil and cruel. They suffer no consequences for their actions (or at least no significant ones are shown in the book). Azad Empire was seemingly punished worse for lesser crimes. Moreover, they are so inferior to the Culture that they never feel like a serious threat.
Excession is exactly what the Minds speculate it is without any twist. And then it follows the unsatisfying cliché the mysterious thing serves as a catalyst for the story but then it is lost without the heroes finding what it actually was, maintaining the status quo of the setting.
The Conspirators just kinda decide to die when they realize they are the bad guys. (Regardless of the fact they are actually the good guys and are actually trying to do something with the Affront while the rest of Minds are too busy jerking off in Irreal over infinite simulated universes or are making creepy art installations.)
Finally, Sleeper Service out of nowhere controlling bazzilion warships immediatelly kills any suspension Banks managed to build and the promise the Culture might for once face an actual challenge.

2024.05.10 15:48 Head_Cabinet9086 Hope Mikaelson vs Bella swan

I've seen a lot of posts saying that Bella is immune to magic due to her mental shield, but i doubt it means she immune to all magic as her shield can protect herself and other from psychic powers of the other vampires. Meaning that hopes magic would work on her but I'm assuming not Pain infliction etc.
strength wise? I'm torn as twilight vampires are basically indestructible but hope being half werewolf and an original vampire as well as training pretty much half her life with Alaric is probably why i think hope has a better chance
overall I'm leaning towards hope as her magic alone could probably take bella

2024.05.08 20:18 Potential_Rule4212 James is one of the best characters in Twilight

I am talking strictly from book 1, James is probably the most interesting character for me in the whole book, Just behind Carlisle.
Not talking about morals here, because bad morals don't label a character as bad, otherwise there wouldn't be so much loved villains out there.
Unfortunately his background wasn't explored too deeply in the book, but the twilight illustrated guide sums it up pretty well.
He is different from all vampires we have encountered throught the book, all vampires are beautiful godlike, he is just average, all vampires seek no confrontation with their own species, James seeks conflict on purpose with other vampires for the sake of the challenge of killing one, all vampires fear death in a way, James doesn't, he doesn't care about preserving his life, all he wants is to hunt and feel the thrill of winning or getting hunted himself.
James had the same traits just less obviously, when the vampire who turned him offered a challenge of hunting in the woods at night even with higher stakes like life or death, James didn't care, he was as arrogant as ever, claiming the frenchman had no chance against him, the best trapper around, after losing to the vampire hunting the deer first, he got turned while the vampire laughed at him claiming James was a failure, 6 months later after his newborn phase, James tracked the frenchman and killed him.
James kept doing these challenges he imposed for himself over and over again like a drug addict, he preferred the hunt over the blood, he has a lot of kills in his record, a lot of these which were vampire kills.
Victoria was actually one of the vampires he felt the presence while around the same area, and he started hunting her, but her gift of self preservation kept him from successfully getting his prey, until one day he softened up for her and they met and fell in love, James having her as a mate was his way of telling himself that he won the hunt just so you know.
Carlisle is only more interesting because his story is more detailed and comes form way back, having swam to get to another country, living in a barn with potaetoes for 3 days, getting away from humans, but James isn't too far behind.
The Cullens were right in being afraid of James, he doesn't fear Death, he doesn't fear the Vampire Laws, he doesn't fear the Volturi, He doesn't abide by the laws like any other vampire does, He doesn't care about being discovered by humans, He has immense experience in killing his own kind which we can also attribute to combat experience, something which only Jasper could rival from the cullen family, but we didn't know that yet, He is way older than Edward and for that alone in a one on one battle, he should win, but Edward has the upper hand because of the mind reading stuff.
James also has that story with Alice, when he invaded the psychiatric hospital with Victoria and killed an older vampire.
James is way more interesting than Victoria or Laurent, he should've been kept around for longer, btw Laurent was basically his servant before the Cullens, Join me and I don't kill you.
His ending was so frustrating, I know these books are not combat oriented, like battles being described, but the angel sequence is just ridiculous, Bella wakes up and James is already dead, no details on what happened, like nothing, the whole threat is over out of the blue.
Anyways, this is my James apprecciation post.

2024.05.08 16:51 Cultural_Salad_5737 Unspoken Love💕

My dear sweet philosopher 🩷 When I first met you. I thought our love story would be eternal.
Kinda of like a those cheesy, yet romantic stories you would read on fanfiction.com or livejournal.
You know it’s true when they say the best romance stories are not the ones where the dude and girl get together at the end.
That’s bull crap and let’s not pretend.
Come on, be serious. Look at Twilight. Bella and Edward. Bleh. No offense that love story gives me quite the fright.
Stalker vampire dude and a pick-me-girl find love. She becomes a vampire like him.
Oh my, this is ludicrous! I need to eat a brand name chocolate made by Dove.
Twilight’s writing is lazy.
No offense if you guys like that stuff. Forgive me, here’s a daisy 🌼
The best love stories are of unspoken romance. It leaves the audience of asking themselves will they or won’t they get together?
The tension the excitement is there. However, these couples don’t normally get together officially. Bah! Do the producers really care?
Look at Cloud and Tifa. They are made for one another. She loves him for who he is. Not for what he is.
She sees all his weaknesses and flaws. While they kick the bad guy’s asses and kicking them in their jaws.
He sees that she’s truly a vulnerable and a shy girl underneath the risqué uniform. If only these two lovebirds come together.
But they love each other from a safe distance, never saying a word and that definitely leaves Tifa’s fanbase torn.
Look at Link and Zelda. They were meant to be.
But dammit why didn’t Nintendo show those two kiss and hug? Beats me.
Link is gallant, handsome and noble dude that is the chosen one.
Zelda is the princess of Hyrule gifted with great beauty and kick ass personality that make the men knees weak and numb.
Link, my main man have been saving Zelda from death and danger since year 1986.
They should have at least kissed in some low budget Zelda movie on Netflix.
I’m so sorry. Our fates are so cruel. I’m so sorry that I was cruel.
I miss our late night chats about nothing. To me it meant something.
You were my first real friend I had in 26 years. When I lost you I cried in tears.
The first love of my life. You’re so genuine and true.
Your eyes are so beautiful and blue. I will forever only love you.
I’ll wait for you in this life.
I’ll wait you in the after life!
I’ll wait for you again in the next in another thousand years.
If Zelda waited for Link for 38 years to make a move.
I’ll wait for you to come back to me, I’ll wait for another 1000 years!
I’m really fiercely loyal and that I don’t have to prove. That’s how much I love you.
I never met anyone like you. You’re always on my mind. I wish we could be forever Valentines.
If I could make one wish. I wish to be with for an eternity.
I wish for a world that was made for just you and me.
That would make me forever happy.
However, I know it’s just a fantasy.
My world is going dark and I’ll be blind in the next handful of years. That is not even my biggest fear.
My biggest fear is losing you.
I want to see you.
I want to touch you with my bare skin.
I want to kiss you.
I want to be with you.
I want to embrace you.
I love you.
I feel like we’re in a sitcom where the girl and guy who really love each other.
However, they either never kiss or meet. It’s like a messed up Romeo and Juliet thing.
I think people would rather watch Star Trek return of the Spock and the Klingon fleet!
We have an unspoken thing here. Or at least that’s what I feel.
I wish we were like the anime couples that make each other bento meals.
I want to run away with you to escape to moon to the stars.
It be like a honeymoon in space to Venus to Mars!
I love you. My unspoken true love.
I know you are going to fall in love with another girl. I know I have to accept that I would be a burden to you anyways.
I mean, I have fibromyalgia, high blood pressure and going blind.
I would make anyone lose their mind. Why would want to be my nurse.
I think you would rather get the middle finger and get cursed.
I cannot help, but fall in love with you. Only you.
You are always on my mind. All the time. I love you forever in this present to all time.

2024.05.06 11:06 blankitdblankityboom Are oc’s more welcome in Twilight/Hp crossovers?

I am circling on if I should just keep this idea in the drafts and in my mind or actually take the time to write it out fully. I have an idea that Remus, Tonks, Teddy & the elder Tonks couple, Sirius, Regulus, and Cedric alongside my oc get sent to the Twilight universe and have to start over there. Just in the HP fandom oc’s and non canon stories don’t seem to be very popular and I was wondering if people who like these two worlds crossed would be more open to oc’s. Garrett keeps being tied up and drug across my mind by my plot bunny army and I’m not sure if I should just keep it to myself or not.
The story would have differences of Vampires, in my au Cedric comes from a family with Vampire relatives but he isn’t one himself, and of course Remus is a werewolf so it would show when they run into the Werewolves of Twilight world. And of course Morphers for the Tonks family and my oc. Plus some fun in the Twilight world only assuming Witches need covens to be of any consequence at all as they threaten Bella and the Cullens.
For the time being been drafting things up but if reception for oc’s on top of my usual comfort 2nd pov would have it dead in the water I’d rather not feed more stories than I have to and have no community open to sharing the fun ideas with. Be glad to know what people think.

2024.05.06 06:40 phreek-hyperbole What's a song NOT in a movie and/or soundtrack that is strongly linked with that film?

I looked back as far as a month, so apologies if this has been asked before. I'm thinking of a sort of Mandela effect but with songs in film - so songs that are strongly linked to a film but DON'T actually feature anywhere in regards to the film.
For example, River Flows in You by pianist Yiruma became a very popular yet unofficial "Bella's Lullaby" for Twilight despite never actually appearing in the film's soundtrack, nor I believe in the film itself.
Another example, though not a movie, is Bloody Mary by Lady Gaga becoming strongly associated with Wednesday Addam's dance scene in the series, when the song is actually Goo Goo Muck by The Cramps.
A final example, though probably not very widespread, is Clint Mansell's Lux Aeterna from Requiem for a Dream featured in a LotR The Two Towers trailer. During my Clint Mansell phase there was a fair bit of incorrectly linking the song to The Two Towers but it of course never appears in the film.
Can you think of any other songs strongly linked to a film despite NOT being in the film or on the soundtrack? Eager to see your comments! 😊

2024.05.05 06:04 Applerawr Another twilight re-watch commences

TLDR: I've watched this a bajillion times, and rewatching it NOW.... that small cactus Bella brings, no way that passed TSA.
^ Been wanting to rewatch twilight again randomly. I wanted to collect the DVDs, but then say it was on Disney+ again. So here I am. The first thing I notice was the cactus she brings from home. It would've been safe it she had to road-trip to forks, but she went on a flight... no way TSA would've allowed that to pass through right?! lol the small things

2024.05.05 04:09 KuroKurara New order to watch - improvements

Hello! I don't really know how this reddit works, but I wanted to talk about this new order of watching the movies that has been going around tiktok recently and how it works (and why) and how it could be improved! (If it's not ok, I'm sorry do tell me)
SO, cotext for those that haven't seem the videos. Somebody posted how the movies could be seen in a different order and still work: New Moon -> Breaking Dawn 1 -> Twilight -> Eclipse -> BD 2
Oh, and... spoilers ahead? Do I need to say this? Haha
Ok, how this order? Well, New Moon doesn't actually need how they met to work + it ends with Edward asking her to marry him. Hence, her marrying right after, with BD1 would work weirdly smoothly. After, it would be like she was having flashbacks after giving birth in the end of BD1, leading to Twilight, over how they met and how all this started. Eclipse comes soon after to end the plot about Victoria, still on the "flashbacks". And finally: bella is a vampire, we continue with BD2.
Ok, now... I'm at Twilight in this order right now and I have some opinions and I don't think they'll change till the end. The good and the bad. Let's start with the good, it will make more sense I promise.
This order... Surprisingly holds up. I was VERY impressed with how much I enjoyed watching like that. Specially New Moon. It becomes a whole new movie if you don't have the context from Twilight. The best part to me: there being "no context", it's like the movie is not being "dumbed down" for the audience like recent movies are being. Not to say Twilight saga is, but with a lot of things only being hinted at and not expressly said until it becomes obvious, it's like the scripts trusts the audience to catch clues. And that is really a breath of fresh air to me right now.
New Moon is also largely improoved by the lack of a clear main interest on Bella's part when watching like that. She starts the movie with Edward... But we don't know how much they really like each other. It is VERY believable when he says he doesn't so that he can leave her. And the way the movie plays out... you really start believing midway that she is going to end up with Jacob. Specially cuz Jake is a sweetheart in the beginning. And yet, it is also believable she wouldn't stay with him in the end. Sure, vamps and wolves hate each other, Jake wanting Edward to die is in character... But if he loved her, he should've known even if she didn't really love Edward anymore, she wouldn't want him to die. He was very insensitive in the end of New Moon, it was believable for me she wouldn't go for him after that....
And the Volturi Part?? Chefs kiss It becomes even better in this structure! We get to meet the big bad on the first movie!! (Michael Sheen's performance is so good!!! Omg, I had forgotten). And since we believed Edward wanted to leave bella in the start, this part becomes more emotive too, we feel with bella how much she is surprised, relieved and back in love, but still frightened.
Oh, and the best part for me? In this movie structure... The protag would follow this path: starts with a boyfriend that is bad for her (or kinda bad? with problems? anyway) -> ugly breakup -> meats a better person -> is healing -> ex may mess things up a little -> ends with the better boy that helped her heal. Did you notice though? This movie would be different than usual: it shows the better boy not being so much better after all and she ending up with the one that actually just left to protect her. This is not the norm. Once again: becomes a breath off fresh air in such a weird sense I did not expect.
Ok. On to breaking dawn part 1 and the start with the bad.... I finally understood my real problem with this movie. You see, the saga was on a crescent. NM was even better than Tw, and Ec rose the bar even further... But BD1 was the kind of movie that would be the middle of a trilogy... right after two movies being one better than the other. So it kinda kills the mood.
In this order though? It kinda feels right. As it would be the second movie, and it fits right after NM very well, BD1 is not that great a movie, but serves it's purpose. The only thing that feels a little lacking is the explanation on imprinting... but I didn't feel like it was lacking too much and it gets a better explanation as soon as Renascense is born. In sum. It still is a bit of a boring movie and it still bugs me a bit the scenes where they should be tapking as wolves... but the problems become much more bearable once it becomes sort of a "middle of the trilogy" kind of movie.
And that. That is the big problem with this order. Everything is lining up quite well up until now. NM and BD1 weirdly actually seem like the sequence to one another.... But not BD1 to Twilight. BD1 ends on a very clear note: the transformation of bella into a vampire. It ends as she opens her eyes... Making a "flashback" movie becomes complicated for two reasons: It cuts the plot we were becoming so engrossed on... and it does so for TWO whole movies. If it was only Twilight, one could bear... But you'd still have to go through eclipse before continuing the plot of BD2. Besides, as stated above, the movie ends with her opening her eyes. Kinda weird to suggest the flashback right after that, since NM and BD1 actually fit perfectly.
So..... What how to fix that? I'd say we need this: NM > BD1 > BD2 Or, in movie numbers, we'd have 2 > 4 > 5
What about Twilight and Eclipse? Well, we have two options...
  1. You watch them like they were "extras". If it came out originally like this, think of this as they making a spinoff to tell how they firt met and the Victoria character everybody was so engrossed about after seing her in New Moon (killing Harry Clearwater). In this sense, the complete order would be: NM > BD1> BD2 / Tw > Ec
  2. Shortened Volturi trilogy.... Though I love Eclipse, I have to say that these 3 movies work weirdly well as a whole trilogy. So if anybody wanted to make a "shortened resume" of the Twilight saga, I'd say go ahead and have watch only these 3 in this order. It would basically encompass the volturi plot, and everything else is thrown out the window. Sure, the Volturi appear in Eclipse, but very shortly. And, if we go by the spinoff idea above, you could say that is a cameo.
Anyway.... I loved the original idea. It's been so long since I've enjoyed watching Twilight this much, so I just wanted to get this off my chest. I hope this can make somebody's day too. I'd love to hear other people's opinion if you try any of this.
EDIT!!
Hi, I finished them all yesterday and I'm back with the last imput I think would be interesting (this one is heavily analytical, though, be warned haha). Also: thanks for all the attention, I wrote all of this thinking nobody would read, really, so I'm very glad to see "inspire" some people.
On to the last input: why do I think this weirdly works. So, when I was watching Twiligh and Eclipse it suddenly hit me that the twilight movie saga is a little bit of a patchwork. The directors change a lot so the tone of each movie kinda goes up and down in many directions. Besides, there are really two underlying plots in the saga: the volturi plot and the James/Victoria plot (besides the major Bella plot that we follow in the original order). Funny enough, NM and BD have similar tones in the movies, while Tw and Ec differ quite a bit and, though not as similar to each other than NM and BD, they do work well together. So, with the coincidence that the hook in NM matches so well with BD, and Tw actually also having a hook that can link with Ec... When u see it in this order, it still makes sense and, with the tones now matching (and all I said before), it turns into a pretty goog and innovative experience.
Now, though I dissagree that the lost informations from Tw matters while watching NM, it does matter in Eclipse. Both Tw and NM can be standalone movies (NM can too because Tw just says how they met, and that is not strickly necessary to understand here... but this is hard to explain, the structure of this movie is just perfect for this), but all movies consequent heavily need information from before to work. But Eclipse is what determines the order that NM and BD needs to be "the main trilogy": Eclipse depends on information from both Tw and NM, while BD can easily be seen after NM and only depend on it.... I hope I'm not being more confusing than helpful, but that is basically it.
In sum: I'm as suprised as the next person that it works, but it makes sense. It's been so long since I've been this engrossed in these vampires and I hope that everybody that decides to try this out can have some fun too :D

He’s Not PowerPuff Pantalone, Part 2: Justice for Baizhu?
Part 2 to the Foil Theory is here! (Here’s Part 1 for context.) Today, we’re discussing how it relates to the Commedia dell’Arte, Gnosticism, Greek mythology, historical figures, and the greater plot of Genshin Impact. Fair warning: This is long, and I can’t finish this analysis without addressing other major in-game lore, pop-culture references, and real-world history. Stop reading now if you're concerned with possible spoilers.
“Haven’t You Beaten This Topic to Death Already?!”
The first post only served as groundwork for lore & theories. The symbol attributed to Pantalone on the Harbinger’s Wheel is likely the Globus Cruciger, or the “orb and cross.”
https://preview.redd.it/fv67i4wkbhyc1.png?width=168&format=png&auto=webp&s=bd8fecd7de95272ed9df0664536fe50e2d9cf49d
It’s a Christian symbol intended to represent God’s dominion over the world. The orb and cross are sometimes seen alongside the Barmas: a Russian collacrown featuring 7 medallions.
https://preview.redd.it/w6ar7y5qbhyc1.jpg?width=287&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=65698ae9ba494483e323d7acff9d70fe9396f1b9
*There’s a misconception these represent “heresy.” That was how they were treated by another videogame developer, not real-world history. Pantalone is wearing the Globus Cruciger as a ring.
https://preview.redd.it/arsekqemchyc1.jpg?width=668&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d9fd05f3ad85d04d1d2e4de0e9da984463bf025c
Now can we properly discuss Pants. Let's start with Pappus:
The Attelan stock character Pappus may have played a forerunner, or Harbinger, to Pantalone. Given the way formal theatre literature framed this, I chose to investigate Pappus first.
The name Pappus likely originated from the Greek ‘Pappos,’ meaning “grandfather” or “old man.” He was typically portrayed as a fool who was easily tricked by his wife or daughter. He may have been based on Pappus of Alexandria: a Greek mathematician who wrote 8 volumes of mathematical texts featuring Euclidian geometric principles and other subjects (called “Synagoge.”)
What’s Euclidian Geometry? “Euclidean geometry is a mathematical system attributed to ancient Greek mathematician Euclid, which he described in his texts on geometry, “Elements.” Pappus’ own work on projective planes was partly influenced by “Elements.” ‘Elements’ refers to geometric mathematical principles.
The Pappus Configuration is a configuration of nine points and nine lines in the Euclidean plane, with three points per line and three lines through each point.
That’s cool, but… I’m here for the gorgeous banker? Okay, okay. As I researched Pappus, it became evident that some works and terminology associated with him and Euclid may have been repurposed along with Gnostic premises for Genshin Impact’s plot. I’m operating on the assumption Hoyoverse read some of the same formal sources I did, so it feels criminal to omit these details. Moving on…

Commedia dell’Arte Pantalone
He’s consistent in his behaviomannerisms, and his role in the plot. He’s typically an affluent Venetian merchant whose greatest fear is financial loss, and encompasses everything his (proposed) primary inspiration isn’t.
Pantalone is rich, greedy, lecherous, pompous, and prone to mismanaging business and personal affairs. He’s often partnered with Il Dottore in some capacity, sometimes married to La Signora, and often the father of one of the Innamorati. When he plays the father of one of the Innamorati alongside Dottore, they work together to keep the Lovers separated at all costs.
Some players discounted the Commedia dell’Arte influence on the Fatui Harbinger’s lore because it was comedic. However, “our” Pantalone is somewhat consistent with his Commedia dell’Arte image, and there are several Lazzos/background history that seem to have been foreshadowed already. Here’s an amazing example featuring Pulcinella:
-Lazzo of the Inside (Potential Pulcinella Spoilers)
To create the illusion of ferociousness, Pulcinella (hidden behind a door from the Captain) fakes the voices of servants being beaten by him. That’s the entire punchline of this Lazzo.
-Lazzo of Greeting (Potential Pulcinella Spoilers)
“Pulcinella greets the Captain or another character with what seems like great respect. He says, "You are the son of Jove, the new moon, and twice the last name of Alexander!" Then, Pulcinella explains, "The son of Jove refers to Bacchus, who is depicted as a goat. The new moon is represented by horns, and the last name of Alexander is Magno. When repeated twice, it becomes magno-magno. So, the entire greeting means: 'Eat it up, eat it up, you horned goat [cuckold].'"
In Genshin Impact, Tartaglia speaks of Pulcinella as a concerned-grandpa-type looking out for his family, while Wanderer is convinced that Pulcinella’s real message to Tartaglia is something to the effect of “your family’s lives are in my hands.” These Lazzo tells us who’s more likely to be correct. Pulcinella being made out to be as malicious as he’s implied may be an illusion, and he may not share the loyalty/regard to the organization that other members do in spite of his cooperative front. Wanderer’s take on his behavior speaks only to affirming personal biases. (Keep in mind that Wanderer assumes the worst of everyone, and that About voicelines alone don’t necessarily speak to the full truth; only the character’s perception of the truth.)

Lazzo of Pantalone’s Story

“Pantalone begins to tell ridiculous and impossible stories about adventures he has supposedly had with well-known figures from medieval/ancient history.”
The punchline is that he talks about this at great lengths, and nobody believes him. I questioned how Hoyoverse may have used this Lazzo, and came at it from several angles that all felt equally ridiculous. It got messier when I factored in the possibilities behind other popular theories I’ve read. He’s King Deshret, he’s a Vishap-person, he’s Nibelung, he’s Changsheng’s evil segment, he’s Rouran, he’s Ouroboros incarnate, he’s the one who founded the Wangshang Funeral Parlor, he’s Baizhu moonlighting as a Harbinger, he’s a priest who ventured into the Abyss, he’s an Abyss Mage/Lector, he’s the Heart of Naberius, he’s a soldier who fell into the Chasm, he’s Caribert, he’s immortal Clothar Alberich, etc.
In the end, I chose to interpret this as “Pantalone is ancient, and has likely played more than one historical role in Genshin Impact.” Why?
https://preview.redd.it/ajip2vykfhyc1.jpg?width=1432&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b059c939bf35fa24e13394f11650edc5bdedce13
1: Saint Pantaleon/Pantaleimon, Christian healer & martyr in Greek-speaking Roman City of Nicomedia:
https://preview.redd.it/tsbk2myofhyc1.jpg?width=205&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=87e95b2fe8ea409732c8ada8e5e0ed6004b29870
St. Pantaleon (meaning ‘all things like a lion,) better known as St. Pantaleimon (the all-compassionate) is commonly suggested to have inspired Commedia Pantalone, making Commedia Pantalone a traditional foil to his real-world counterpart. Born and raised with a Pagan education during Diocletian’s persecution of Christians, Pantaleon gravitated to medicine. One day, he happened upon a child who’d been killed by a viper. Saving the child was beyond his power as a mortal physician, and Pagan gods wouldn’t come through. As a test of faith, he prayed to God. The child was revived, & the viper was killed. He’s renamed Pantaleimon, usually upon converting to Christianity.
He went on to treat everyone without charge (including restoring a blind man’s sight to convert his father,) and treated prisoners freely too, many of whom were Christians. Jealous doctors who’d lost patients to Pantaleimon’s goodwill responded by reporting him to Emperor Maximian for healing Christians. Emperor Maximian ordered Pantaleimon to sacrifice to Pagan gods, but he refused and proposed a test of faith. A sick person for whom there was no hope would be brought before them, and each would pray to God/Pagan Gods to see who came through. They brought in a paralyzed man. Pagan Gods didn’t respond. Pantaleimon un-paralyzed the man using the power of God. Now playing “Big Mad,” Maximian responded by killing the unparalyzed guy, and sentencing Pantaleimon to torture. However, the power of God protected Pantaleimon from a ton of your usual Roman violence (boiling, stabbing, etc) so Maximian ordered his execution.
At the site of his execution, God called down to him. The soldier's swords softened upon their attempts to execute him. He forgave the soldiers ordered to kill him, they repented, he told them to off him anyway to protect them, and he was beheaded. However, his body refused to decay.
St. Pantaleimon is the best evidence Pantalone plays a foil to Genshin Impact’s Baizhu, and the best evidence of a potential Alberich/Khaenri’ah allegory.
Baizhu is currently following a path similar to Pantaleimon’s. Though he extorted Pantalone indirectly over the Everlasting Incense (which is extremely funny for reasons I’ll explain later) he’s also known to treat people for free when they can’t afford his help. He’s the pharmacist from Liyue we work with to cure Anna’s illness, and he used his research on Qiqi to save Jialiang from death. He’s currently in pursuit of immortality, which Pantaleimon appeared to achieve in the end, and was ultimately ‘killed’ for.
The narrative similarities to Clothar’s pleas to the Statue of the Seven in saving Caribert are too flagrant to ignore. The Archons don’t answer, but the “Sinner” did, and imbued Caribert with the Loom of Fate (said to be of Primordial Creation) saving Caribert. This story may imply that the “Sinner” is some aspect of the Primordial One.
2: Pantaleon/Pantaleimon Sudzhaksky:
https://preview.redd.it/s5i0qz5tfhyc1.png?width=259&format=png&auto=webp&s=cf83222e16a669c9ce0caf3e7fe31236aa830985
I could only find Bulgarian Orthodox and Russian Orthodox sources mentioning this variation of St. Pantaleimon’s background, and some are conflicting on whether or not healing was involved. He was born into extreme poverty, sent to work in an old shoe shop and doing other odd jobs from a young age to survive. A terrible plague swept across his homeland, and he was left wandering alone, surrounded by endless death. He sought understanding/help, and ended up in a monastery on Mount Athos (an important Greek center of Eastern Orthodox Monostacism.) He inquired persistently as to the nature of life and death, and became fixated on partaking in Holy Communion, believing it to bestow eternal life. He would eventually be expelled for partaking in excess, and went on to become a religious leader whose followers lived in poverty. He believed communion to be their salvation; everlasting connection to God. He was persecuted by the Greek patriarch, and arrested under orders of the Bishop of Adrianople. However, he and his followers would go on to unite with the Catholic Church. He was later venerated in Bulgaria and Russia as Saint Pantaleimon, suggesting multiple “St. Pantaleimon” inspirations. 1 article claims he founded a religion known as Pantaleymonovsty: I can't find anything else to expand on this. I also had to translate sources, so hopefully I haven’t missed important details, but I can’t promise so.
His story is similar to Baizhu’s with the loss of his parents during a plague and pursuit of immortality, but more closely resembles Pantalone’s, given his implied profound experience with destitution, and rhetoric dictated by religion & leadership. This St. Pantaleimon lends more credence to the Foil theory, as well as several Liyue and religion-oriented theories, which leads me to…
3. Holy Prophet Mani, the Zoroastrian Martyr:
https://preview.redd.it/uq4w8z0xfhyc1.png?width=419&format=png&auto=webp&s=1805da0ff16a3e8d3e1d3f60d16722992f5ee061
I generally avoid using Wikipedia summaries, but when formal sources back them up and I can’t find a better way to summarize info, they’re helpful.
“Mani was an Iranian prophet and the founder of Manichaeism, a religion most prevalent in late antiquity. The exact meaning of the name is a question still unsolved. It may have derived from Babylonian-Aramaic Mânâ [luminescence].” Mandaeans used the term mânâ rabba, which means "Enlightened Lord/King". Ancient Greek interpretations were skeuos (σκεῦος, vessel, instrument) and homilia (ὁμιλία, intercourse, company, communion, instruction.)
Here’s where the Foil theory gets interesting:
Baizhu’s birthday is April 25th. This is also the date commemorating Mani’s birth.
A prophet who blended Gnosticism with Buddhist and Zoroastrian elements, Mani was arrested and martyred by Persian authorities, not unlike St. Pantaleimon. Meanwhile, our Pantalone is looking… An awful lot like a conglomeration of a different Saint Pantaleimon, and Commedia Pantalone.
4. King Pantaleon/Panteleimon:
https://preview.redd.it/ju1w6tk9ghyc1.jpg?width=571&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d3fb6167f25c69d8c69ecceea7e6fc586e6414e1
King Pantaleon was a Greek King and successor to Demetrius I Anicetus the ‘Unconquered,’ who is thought by some to have been his brother. His copper-alloy coins may be suggestive of early Bactrian trade with China. His role is consistent with the ‘ruling with the authority of God’ sentiment behind the Globus Cruciger, and involves production of personalized currency.
5: Rouran Khaganate, "Zhongli"+ "Xiao", & "Pantaleon y las Visitadoras"
https://preview.redd.it/plrxwcaeghyc1.png?width=155&format=png&auto=webp&s=8c4f4fc1ea2381ca5c8cb26711f964e7cc93a11e
Modernization/assimilation (Alatus = Xiao, Deus Auri = Zhongli, Abrax = Aberaku, etc) is a common theme Pantalone may have followed as an ancient entity. Considering this and his connection to Baizhu lends credence to the Rouran coin-replacement-as-warfare theory discussed in the first post. Furthermore, one of the last recorded Rouran was named Furen.
There’s also some interesting misinformation that Hoyo may have been inspired by to explain the similarities to Pantalone’s pose in Winter Night’s Lazzo, and the Harbinger’s cloaks. One historian/linguistic expert claimed linguistic origins revealed ‘Rouran’ may not have been a name, but an ancient term for anyone who defected from their nation/allegiance to serve a charismatic warlord. I say ‘misinformation’ because this was disproven by another historian. (The Rouran Khaganate overall is very misunderstood.)
Thanks to user Kameshazam linking info I missed, the "Pantalone is Rouran" theory may have been proven in full! Recall from the 1st post that "Rouran" owns the Flower Boat (referencing prostitution vessels) set in the water opposite of Bubu Pharmacy.
"Pantaleon y las Visitadoras" is a Peruvian comedic novel by Mario Vargas Llosa (allegedly based on real events) featuring a Captain Pantaleon Pantoja. Pantaleon is reluctantly sent on a mission by the Peruvian Army to... Cultivate a secret prostitution service intended to "satisfy" soldiers stationed there. Despite his misgivings, he follows orders. The services are referred to as "benefits" under an "audit" program, and the prostitutes are referred to as "visitadoras." Pantaleon becomes involved with one of the women, cheating on his wife with her. The woman is later assassinated by angry locals. In response, Pantaleon shows up to her funeral dressed in military attire, confirming to the public what was going on behind the scenes in the army. The resulting complaints ultimately end the "services," and the army sends Pantaleon to a garrison far away. Yet again, a Pantalone reference featuring leadership and conflicting morality.
6. Emperor Wang Mang:
https://preview.redd.it/4ry1lnpsghyc1.png?width=276&format=png&auto=webp&s=aa92e4d2c85750b27f29f7d1d3034604fc58c1e5
Again, because of Baizhu’s connection to Pantalone, we need to consult both Russian and Chinese history for analysis. To that end, recall Zhiyi, Pantalone’s cunning subordinate and the antagonist of Yelan’s Story Quest?
小钱币,值一 , or Xiǎo qiánbì, zhí yī, meaning ‘Small Coin, Worth One’ were introduced as the lowest denomination of a new currency system under Emperor Wang Mang’s rule of China. Wang Mang was considered China’s first Socialist. Zhiyi’s name in Yelan’s Story Quest may be a reference to this, a homonym essentially calling him low value – or as Uncle Tian puts it the EN translation, a “pawn.”
\Please note that there are multiple ways this was translated in different historical sources; if you attempt to use basic translating apps to investigate, you’re probably going to get nonsense-sounding results.*
Emperor Wang Mang was a Confucian ascetic who rose to power through his good standing. Wang Mang secured his position as Regent to the Emperor Ping by arranging a marriage between the Emperor and his own daughter. Later, it’s said that Wang Mang’s son conspired with the Emperor’s Uncles to end his regency. They were all put to death on Wang Mang’s orders for the ‘conspiracy.’ Emperor Ping would later die by unknown causes; whether it was natural, or a matter of poisoning is debated by historians. Wang Mang replaced him. He was known for his efforts to reform society through use of forward-thinking foreign policy, the imposition of taxes on slave owners, and currency replacement, though these efforts didn’t go over well. His intentions in all of this are uncertain; was he sincerely trying to help his people, or did he merely see these methods as a means of securing wealth and control? Whether he was ultimately a tyrant or a benevolent ruler is debated depending on the source.
More conflicting intentions and wealth inequality. He's easily likened to the contradictory impressions of Pantalone behaving like Commedia Pantalone (who also leveraged his child to benefit economically/politically) while wearing symbols related to the ‘all-compassionate’ Pantaleimon, like the Heart of Gold motif. That said, Emperor Wang Mang didn’t use currency replacement as a form of intercontinental warfare or defect to other countries, and other nuances to his background directly contradict Pantalone’s, which is why I concluded the Rouran Khaganate to be the other aspect to the monetary warfare/reform inspiration.
7. Commedia Pantalone
https://preview.redd.it/781xfg34hhyc1.png?width=230&format=png&auto=webp&s=30cd6d131000704f6db4ee3dd7e8433dbfe43acc
‘Our’ Pantalone and his associates encompass the extravagant and cruel nature depicted in his Commedia role so far. His subordinates are terrified of him, and they tend to operate in very underhanded ways: espionage, sabotage, monopolization of resources, even turning on one another when things get rough to come out on top.
A prime example of the company he keeps? The Rusty Rudder in Fontaine. It’s full of Pantalone’s sketchy associates, including a debt collector who hints at an imminent meeting and forcefully bribes us. You can find a correspondence between criminals in codewords, threatening to make unsuitable business partners wear “cement shoes”; in other words, threatening to tie them up, attach a weight to them, and drown them in the ocean. You can also find a bill referencing the suspicious transaction of 3 mysterious items we accidentally helped Pantalone complete with Landa when we first entered Liyue, as well as an article clipping referencing the fall of the criminal organization “Club Pantaloni di Novela” to the Spina di Rosula, further referencing the tendency of Commedia Pantalone’s plans to fail.
Arlecchino’s voiceline regarding him suggests he’s subtly temperamental; not as controlled as he believes himself to be, which tracks with Commedia Pantalone and Luoxia’s description of Rouran.
Furthermore, he purchased the pelt of an extinct legendary beast to offer as a gift to the Tsaritsa. Yelan stole it and repurposed it as a mantle as payback for Pantalone having stolen one of her Fascinating Bracelets. Both items were ancient (Yelan mentions the technology behind the bracelet is ancient,) but Pantalone seemed to have intimate knowledge to target them as he did, further implying “our” Pantalone possesses “old” knowledge related to Liyue. Traditional theatre instructions of Pantalone, Tartaglia, Dottore, and sometimes Capitano refer to them as “old men.”
8. Pappus:
https://preview.redd.it/44mz3y6ahhyc1.png?width=139&format=png&auto=webp&s=86ba93efacf20230cd59c7a7c62ac0771559ab31
The Attelan Farce refers to the Roman improvised masked comedies the Commedia dell’Arte was said to be inspired by. There’s a great deal of emphasis on Pappus’ age in the Attelan stock, with his name being the only one derived from Oscan; an extinct Italian language. (Capitano and Pulcinella are also thought to draw direct inspiration from other Attelan characters, though the details are debated.) Pappus’ foolishness is also emphasized like Commedia Pantalone’s, and real-world Pappus’ contributions to Euclidian Geometry as a skilled mathematician contrast against this starkly.

9. Enkanomiya Quests, The Legend of Zelda, Domain Murals, & Pantalone’s Design:
The ascending eyelet pattern on Pantalone’s shirt resembles the same eyelet pattern present in Domain murals, Seals, the Spiral Abyss dooportal, and certain sea entities
https://preview.redd.it/9b95b81jhhyc1.png?width=808&format=png&auto=webp&s=9afb1c92ed762af2e148a40b0436c1dee1aea0fd
Be warned that by addressing this, I might be spoiling serious plot points.
“The Pale Princess & the 6 Pygmies” Lisa gives us the first volume at the very beginning of the game, and we haven’t seen another since. Why? Because it holds weighty implications about the creation of the world and how the plot will progress. Some believed this story exclusively referenced Snow White and the Seven Dwarves, and I agreed… Until I researched Pantalone, Enkanomiya, and a ton of Greek history. Then I spent a drunken evening saltily pulling it all apart again, with focus on the Night Mother. Why? Snow White, Beauty and the Beast, and Cinderella all took influence from older Greek or Roman mythology. (One example is the story of Chione, or ‘Snow.’ )
An Enkanomiyan Questline titled “Erebos’ Secret” had us endure 3 trials in the corners of Enkanomiya with the help of Eboshi. Finishing this questline dropped major lore. Many assumed ‘Erebos’ & ‘Eboshi’ were references to the assimilation of Enkanomiyans into Narukami culture.
However, the symbol representing the Questline and other World Quests tells a different story, as does the Greek history behind the name Erebos. The symbol just so happens to resemble the brooch Pantalone is wearing, which leads us to:

The Odal Rune’s inversion suggests he doesn’t possess the “natural” right to rule the world, which is how Phanes, the Demiurge in certain Gnostic beliefs, is regarded. Its positioning could be likened to the positioning of Ganondorf’s fragment of the Triforce, and Ganondorf believes himself to be a rightful King.
Yes, I’m likening Pantalone to the Ganondorf in Twilight Princess, representing the Demiurge. If you’ve never played the Zelda series, it revolves around the power of the Triforce, and the incarnations of Link, Zelda, and Ganondorf fighting the same battles of good and evil in different periods/worlds. Ganondorf is a Sorcerer King born with the innate right to rule the Gerudo. Ganon covets Hyrule Kingdom for the light and peace it holds (very unlike the dry, harsh Gerudo Desert) and attacks Hyrule. He’s caught and imprisoned in the Arbiter’s Grounds, sentenced to be executed by the 6 Sages.

However, by some “divine prank,” the Sages are unable to execute him. As it turns out, he possesses the Triforce of Power – equated to the power of the Demiurge, as Din’s Power was said to have “shaped” the world from existing elements in Ocarina of Time.
https://preview.redd.it/a3ws3gzyt50d1.png?width=998&format=png&auto=webp&s=a54e054cd88b7ce58927b6d4b00df4e52226ca54
Sounding anything like Pantaleimon’s execution? The difference is that Ganon is just innately evil; I don’t believe Pantalone is innately evil, otherwise there wouldn’t be repeated hints towards his being in conflict with his emotions.
Moving on, if you research Erebos in the context of Gnosticism (also spelled as Erebus) you’ll learn that he’s a Primordial God of Darkness, often Nyx’s counterpart in Primordial creation. Nyx is a Greek Primordial Goddess born in the darkness. She has many names across different cultures, and is often likened to Gaea.
One of her titles, “Gogyen Sowhuti,” translates to “Grandmother Spider” in Native American cultures; particularly Hopi, Cherokee, and Navajo beliefs. The Grandmother Spider perpetually weaves and destroys the universe as she spins her web. However, Genshin Impact draws primary influence from Gnostic belief systems.
Per Brittanica, “The Orphic Rhapsodies made her the daughter and successor of Phanes, a creator god; she continued to advise her own successors (Uranus, her son by Phanes; Cronus, youngest son of Uranus; and Zeus) by means of her oracular gifts. Aristotle, in Metaphysics, Book XII, asserted that some “theologians” derive all things from night. This idea fits the theogony of Aristophanes’ Birds. Throughout antiquity Nyx caught the imagination of poets and artists, but she was seldom worshipped.”
Together, they created more primordial entities to found the universe, but Nyx went forgotten. For the “Supernatural” fans inevitably going OH MY GOD right now… Yes, you could liken them to Chuck and Amara. The ending to "Supernatural" was also informed by Greek & Roman mythology, and some Gnostic principles: Fortuna herself grew to believe in Sam and Dean’s self-determined heroism.
https://preview.redd.it/d3acp4jzu50d1.png?width=500&format=png&auto=webp&s=c60050f2f3af331c26bd611e7151c660fc396b76
Furthermore, in the Book of Genesis, it’s said that in the beginning of creation, God separated the Darkness from the rest of creation to protect it.
“The Separation of Light from Darkness is, from the perspective of the Genesis chronology, the first of nine central panels that run along the center of Michelangelo's Sistine Chapel ceiling and which depict scenes from the Book of Genesis. And God said, "Let there be light," and there was light. God saw that the light was good, and he separated the light from the darkness. God called the light "day," and the darkness he called "night." And there was evening, and there was morning—the first day.”
The cruel ‘Night Mother’ can be framed as Phanes’ counterpart, as some beliefs say Phanes rose from the Abyss. So yes, this lends credence to the theory that Phanes/Celestia aren’t necessarily purely antagonistic in how they handle Abyssal influence.
Erebos is also “Aether’s” father. I’m referring to the Greek Aether. Pantalone in the Commedia dell’Arte is typically the Father of one of the Innamorati. Before you go “but the Travelers aren’t the Innamorati,” hear me out.
https://preview.redd.it/i6thvslmv50d1.png?width=422&format=png&auto=webp&s=3ecebe2d36746c44f5e87cc159fa40008001f0b1
The Innamorati virtually never don masks in the original Commedia dell’Arte, and Genshin Impact went out of its way to make us wear a mask in Mondstadt. This drew players away from the assumption that the Twins represented the Lovers. I felt like it was a misdirection. So I also investigated the Innamorati, and their influence on later storytelling. Many popular stories are thought to have directly spun off of the dynamic between the Lovers.
The key takeaway about the Innamorati's influence ultimately wasn’t that they were literal lovers, but that their pursuit of one another drove the greater plot. A popular example would be Naruto and Sasuke's relationship in Naruto/Shippuden.
The Twins absolutely can be the Innamorati in modern storytelling, which means ‘Pantalone’ has the capacity to act as a ‘Father.’
It’s not a coincidence that the brooch Pantalone is wearing just so happens to feature the same upside-down Odal rune in the same position as the ‘power’ segment of the Triforce when you consider the implications of the Globus Cruciger in godliness and authority to rule, and Genshin’s admission to having taken significant influence from Breath of the Wild. What could this make Pants, given his fixation with the natural rights of humanity? Daddy. The Father. The ‘androgynous’ Phanes – or I should say, a part of Phanes. Which leads us to…

Cosmic Dualism, Baizhu, the Nag Hammadi, Manichaeism, and Phanes

Cosmic dualism relates to Gnostic principles of forces in opposition, similar (but not the same) to concepts like Yin-Yang. Depending on the belief system, it can regard the opposition of the material world and 'evil' God, framed against the immaterial and 'true' God. This is among the reasons why Baizhu is contrasted against Pantalone, and why they both feature black-and-white rhetoric and motifs.
'Cycles' regarding time and history are constants in-game. I suspect Phanes/his Shades ended up subject to Teyvat's ‘cycle.’ I have no idea how/when. So why would I draw this conclusion?
When I was doing my Pantalone/Baizhu analysis, I kept challenging my own take because they share so much in common besides their looks. Baizhu delayed naming Bubu Pharmacy to just start treating patients, and then named Bubu Pharmacy using anti-Gods wordplay. Pantalone complained about naming the Credit Coupons as he hatched the “removing Zhongli’s authority and replacing Mora” plan, and then gave them a similarly symbolic name.
"In Liyue, a form of divination is often used to predict fortune and peril or ask the gods for guidance. The people of Liyue call their particular art Zhanbu. "A name and a message... Then let us send the message that no matter the fortunes of this shop, or the diseases afflicting our patients..." Baizhu picked up the prescription note and faced the rising sun framed through the door. "...Or our fates, we don't need to ask the gods or use divination any longer." In the language of Liyue, "Zhanbu" is divination, but "bu" can also be the word for a refusal or negation. Thus, he chose a name that enshrined his beliefs. The rays of sunlight were shining through the door and the thin paper in his hand, with the words written by his hand clear and confident— Bubu Pharmacy, Baizhu."
So here was my reasoning: -What would you call 2 people who share the same ‘essence’ without being the same person? -What if they share the same soul? That’s a popular concept in many cultures, especially regarding Twins

There are distinct references to this concept in the Nag Hammadi, as well as references from Mani’s belief system.

The Nag Hammadi, an ancient and badly damaged Gnostic text, is full of references to worlds where souls go to be purified. It discusses models and copies of souls being transferred from one “path” to the next. (These obscure passages may also relate to Visions, but that part’s just supposition.)
-“[Souls] are located according to the power they have in themselves, [...] lower are produced by the copies. Those who receive a model of their souls are still in the world. They came into being after the departure of the aeons, one by one, and they are removed one by one from the copy of Exile to the Exile that really exists, from the copy of Repentance to the Repentance that really exists, [and from the] copy of Autogenes to [the Autogenes] that really exists. The remainder [...] the souls [...] exist in a [...] all [...] of aeons [...]
-( …) “He said, "[Zost]rianos, listen about these [...] for the first [...] origins are three because they have appeared in a single origin [of] the Barbelo aeon, not like some origins and powers, nor like (one) from an origin and power. It is to every origin that they have appeared; they have strengthened every power; and they appeared from that which is far better than themselves. These (three) are Existence, Blessedness and Life.”
Meanwhile, Mani taught how the soul of a righteous individual returns to Paradise upon dying, but "the soul of the person who persisted in things of the flesh – fornication, procreation, possessions, cultivation, harvesting, eating of meat, drinking of wine – is condemned to rebirth in a succession of bodies."
“According to biographies preserved by ibn al-Nadim and the Persian polymath al-Biruni, Mani received a revelation as a youth from a spirit, whom he would later call his "Twin" (Imperial Aramaic: תאומא tɑʔwmɑ, from which is also derived the Greek name of Thomas the Apostle, Didymus; the "twin"), Syzygos (Koinē Greek: σύζυγος "spouse, partner", in the Cologne Mani-Codex), "Double," "Protective Angel," or "Divine Self." This spirit taught him wisdom that he then developed into a religion. It was his "Twin" who brought Mani to self-realization. Mani claimed to be the Paraclete of the Truth promised by Jesus in the New Testament."
Paraclete is a Christian biblical term occurring five times in the Johannine texts of the New Testament. In Christian works, the word typically refers to the Holy Spirit, translated as 'advocate', 'counsellor' or 'helper'.”
The ‘Old men’ from the commedia are usually Pantalone, Dottore, and Tartaglia – all of whom have at least 1 additional ‘version’ of themselves canonically confirmed in Genshin Impact. Dottore is almost obsessive about preserving ‘perspectives.’
We find notes on a play “Ajax” was part of as the 2nd strongest member of his alliance from hundreds of years ago, while “our” Ajax exists presently. Dottore has his whole obsession with preserving “perspectives” while taking offense to being called “young.” Baizhu therefor fits as Pantalone’s 'other self,' explaining the implied age gap; Pantalone lived into another cycle while his ‘model’ was incarnated yet again.
In other words, Baizhu isn't Pantalone in disguise: they have unique life experiences and conflicting perspectives while sharing base likenesses because they’re the same ‘essence’ on divergent paths, not unlike the Travelers. Whether or not they’ve met and influenced one another has yet to be seen.

All Roads Lead to Phanes, proposed to be the Primordial One

Here's where it becomes crack-theory territory. Please be kind in your response to these suppositions, because I spent weeks researching academic sources from JSTOR, and my fingers hurt.
https://preview.redd.it/t7vo8e3o660d1.png?width=1347&format=png&auto=webp&s=90edd813ed4d0d4e0cc8cd018801553582f9ef7e
I’m not claiming any of this is a guarantee of how Hoyo will treat this dynamic, but I’m struggling to form other conclusions:
Pantalone’s represented by the Globus Cruciger, a Christian symbol representing God’s dominion over the world. There's a ton of symbolism in the stories inspiring Baizhu and Pantalone’s rhetoric regarding religion, martyrdom, healing, economics, and inequality, suggesting they’re connected by far more than their designs. Baizhu and Pantalone’s rhetoric regard humanity’s plights.
...But Pantalone has an inhuman appearance; pointed ears somewhat similar to Neuvillette’s, and eyes hidden, presumably because they reveal something very distinct about him.
I’ve double-checked Baizhu’s model, and his right ear appears normal; the left is concealed by his hair. As for his eyes, we’ve repeatedly confirmed they were altered as a consequence of his contract with Changsheng; both the shape of his pupils and the color of the iris were swapped with Changsheng. So Baizhu’s natural eyes were violet-red and human; Pantalone’s may also be red, but inhuman
-The simplest explanation is that Phanes was said to be beautiful and inhuman. But given they hid Pantalone's eyes...
-If I stretch, perhaps Vishap-people were a thing during the Roman-inspired empires, they eventually grew to identify with humanity, and our Pantalone may have been reborn as the human-vishap blend Enjou discussed with us in Enkanomiya to repent for what Phanes did to the Sovereigns. Vishap-people are said to be mostly indistinguishable from humans, but with altered pupils. Enjou wasn’t the most reliable narrator, but this Version mentioned the "Traitorous Dragonheirs” in Remuria’s history, Petrichor is based on Italy (and may also reference the Greek village of Pantaleimonas,) Pappus’ name in the Atellan stock implies he’s ancient Italian, Pantalone's background closely fits St. Pantaleimon Sudzhaksky's, and Repentance is mentioned repeatedly in the Nag Hammadi.
-The alternate STRETCH is that we shouldn’t interpret the “Christian" reference literally in Pantalone's case, and he’s following the path Enjou implied by joining the Harbingers. Enjou suggested Vishaps evolved in Enkanomiya to infiltrate/sabotage human ranks. He could be Nibelung, King of Dragons himself - or someone who believes in Nibelung’s authority as the King (Pulcinella allegedly has lore-based connections to Nibelung, and he and Pantalone are cooperating on Project Stuzha.) Collection of the Gnoses would reveal the ‘true’ God, and the Sovereigns power was stolen by the Primordial One.
So, would their unity reveal Nibelung or Phanes? It’s unclear how that sentiment’s going to be defined in Genshin Impact. One possibility is that Pantalone is Nibelung’s equivalent, and Baizhu is Phanes’ equivalent.
But it gets more tedious when you read Vera’s Melancholy, which implies eyeball-eating-aliens-writing-stories-for-interdimensional-worlds vibes. One of the main characters was Ike, a black-haired boy with glasses + tendency to monologue, and they were from ‘Delphi,’ a real place in Greece. Another character in the story claimed to have "fused" with a dragon.
Teyvat's natural order is draconic. Ouroboros is a persistent theme in-game. It informs Beidou’s design/lore, and it’s also described as a natural ‘phenomenon’ discovered by Enkanomiyans, used to create the Serpent’s Heart. Ouroboros can be depicted as a snake or dragon consuming itself: as a representation of eternal creation and destruction.
You could argue Nibelung, the King of Dragons, would be the “true” God per the Orphic Gnostic belief systems. Ophites (a derogatory term from the Greek Ophis, ‘serpent,' coined by Hippolytus) venerated the Serpent in the Bible because it was seen to have enlightened humanity.
https://preview.redd.it/l25rb6vophyc1.jpg?width=294&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b42378490894e43741acb61a1555b725146c730b
Regardless of how the details are panned out, they are most likely God/Shades in some respect, and they’ve been subjected to the cyclical-incarnational nature of Teyvat. So now for residual thoughts:
On the Baizhu/Pantalone end, there’s potential foreshadowing in Baizhu’s Story Details. Genshin explains that he's in conflict with Hu Tao, but that they and Zhongli all play a part in life and death, as it’s where their empathy/concerns overlap completely.
Zhongli is popularly proposed as one of the Shades. I might agree now. If we contemplate the “Pantalone founded the Wangshang Funeral Parlor” theory I've seen floating around, he’d be double-foiled against Baizhu with Hu Tao as an allegory, and again connected to Zhongli.
I haven’t researched Capitano in depth yet, but some players allege he may have played more than one role in Genshin’s history, too. Similarly, there are some narrative consistencies to suggest that Dottore is connected to Shiruyeh, the Lord of Pestilence; if this pattern is accurate, then Shiruyeh could be a wronged past “self” of Dottore’s. Dottore seems more than intelligent enough to have noticed these patterns himself, given all of “Zandik’s” research across Sumeru. Accordingly, he may be creating segments as a way to ensure he never forgets the truth while he resists the cycle.
Ei & the Raiden Shogun may foreshadow what the Sustainer of Heavenly Principles is: a puppet acting on orders independent of its leader, because its leadeShades have been absent and/or ignorant to their own identities. This may be why Celestia is decaying, and why Baizhu/Pantalone would be related while suffering the very consequences of the cycle of incarnation.

The Takeaway?

Pantalone and Baizhu are a HUGE DEAL in Genshin Impact’s greater plot, the Foil theory is absolutely spot-on, and some popular theories as to Pantalone’s identity are probably simultaneously true for one reason or another. We can’t rule out many theories from this info, as some of it is conflicting. That’s why I came to the conclusion that they were inspired by numerous historical figures, with 'Godliness' being the main consistency.
As before, thanks for reading, share your thoughts, and have a day!

2024.05.03 14:41 Ashamed-Math-2092 Izuku Midoriya is Quirk Singularity Incarnate: A Permanent Power Copier with almost no restrictions.

My name is Izuku Midoriya, and this is the story of how I became the Greatest!
Well, I came from humble beginnings, y'know? My mother wasn't anything all that impressive, and my father just wasn't present. Still, I do remember the vague feeling that everything was all right in the world, until the day my quirk came in.
You see, Kacchan manifested his quirk first. It's quite the cool thing. Explosions. Even then, when we were kids and you could hardly tell what some quirks might be, his was cool, and everyone saw the potential. So for a few days, I could hardly go to sleep, just thinking about how cool it was! So one day, I reached out ... and my hands started sparking, just like his!
Yeah, in hindsight that was probably how Kacchan started to dislike me, but whatever! It was how I discovered my quirk! We went to the doctor, and well... nobody's quirks are identical. He questioned me a little, tried to get me to reach out and grab my mum's quirk. I did that, then I could attract stuff like her! So he told me that I probably had Power Copying. Well, back then I didn't think it was as cool as All Might's (how stupid I was), but I just knew I had Kacchan, and now mum's quirk! Before the doctor could speak though, my mum kinda just thanked the doctor and took us. He was going to say something as well!
So, once we got home, my mum made me promise not to use my quirk, experiment with my quirk. She looked...scared. (I know why now~) She told me, I could use Kacchan's quirk, and her quirk if I had to, I had to say that that was all I could do. I, being the 4 year old I was, agreed.
So...can't say next few years was too great. Kacchan just kinda stopped hanging out with me after I basically got his quirk. Honestly, using mum's quirk in view of others, probably didn't help. I mean, I was basically a better version of him. He trained more, sure, but I had his quirk, plus another. 8+1 is better than 8.
I'm sure in another world, I would have fell so behind, not realised my potential until some important moment. Maybe in another world, I would have been a good Momma's boy. But you see, you can't help the things your heart longs for. I longed for more, more variety, more substance. So, one day, I took a look at one of the girls, Ayana Akari, Quirk: Fire Fist.
I... well, I wanted her quirk. I'd stayed a good boy for 5 years since I'd gotten my quirk, so I put my hand up to answer a question, then when I put my hand down, I reached out in her direction ever so slightly for a few seconds...and...I felt her quirk be one with me.
I had that feeling for a long time, a very long time. Haha, I'd wasted so long, but my 9 year old self...well, props to him for his curiosity. So, I made my way around the grounds during lunch. I had a few friend acquaintances, people who I wasn't quite close with, but I could comfortably talk with. Whilst I sat with them, I reached out whilst they weren't looking... and grabbed their quirks. It was too easy, I walked around, looking for the good quirks, the better quirks. I got them all so so easily. Sure, I did have to get close if I didn't want to have a difficult time, and sure, at some point, the distance was too far, but I got every good quirk I had in my books. So I started grabbing any quirk I knew. I only stopped because of the lunch bell signaling the end.
In the next week, I had every quirk in the school.
I get ideas of what every quirk I had could do, y'know. I didn't get tired from holding some... 500? Yeah, 500 quirks, give or take. Granted, more of them were shit, and even I don't want to analyse all of them. Not...with what I have now.
Anyway, I didn't get tired from just holding quirks, yeah. I definitely did get tired from using a number of them at the same time though, especially the teachers with the cooler and better quirks. Everyone's only got so much stamina after all.
So yeah, I was well and truly, off my leash. Honestly, maybe the fact that I didn't and still don't like to just pick quirks off the street, it might not be optimal, but I just want it to feel special, y'know? Some connection, no matter how little, like going to the same school. Mutant quirks were transformation quirks on me, mighty convenient.
I might not have picked quirks from randoms on the sidewalk, but I sure did pick quirks from Heroes. Oh yes, those were the hardest to use, so tiring. I pressed on of course. Did I mention I had to find a way to get myself used to 500 quirks? Not all of them, of course. Gotta catch them all only applies to catching. They're there, in my collection. They'll stay there for eternity. The cool quirks, like Kacchan's, any Hero quirks I got, some of my classmates, yeah. I practiced them. Had to make sure Mum never found out, of course.
So, give or take another 5 years, I... well, the fact I had to be just a Kacchan clone helped stymy any ego issues. I was a God. Picked up Kamui Wood's quirk, and yet another quirk to add to the "Makes me Bigger" list. Ha.
So yeah. You know, I still had yet to tell my mum about my career decisions. Still, before that, I encountered some guy with a cool Slime quirk. Took that as well, let All Might handle it. Did I mention ALL MIGHT? Yeah, my childhood idol. When you have enough quirks that you're sure you could give him a fight past 10 seconds if he was playing serious, the novelty wears off, but still, he's just...so cool. Gave me his autograph and left. Damn, the one time I met him, and I couldn't even copy his quirk.
So, I went and told my mum, I wanted to go to UA. I don't know why I didn't tell her sooner, but I suppose that doubtful, far too contemplating, far too stressed look. Yeah. Real mood dampener. She relented, but made me promise to keep the old one that I'd made when I was 4. Hmm. Let it be said, I love my mother. She raised me, cared for me, but sometimes, I despised her. This was one of those times.
So, y'know, got a few points less than Kacchan in the Entrance Exam, got the spot below him in Quirk Apprehension, nothing I'm not used to. Battle trials, I win against him, used my strategy, and knowledge of him. After class, I cornered All Might. He looked... I don't know. Kinda like he needed to go to the toilet. In the privacy after my classmates left, I asked if I could copy his quirk.
He gave me a No.
To be fair, he did back it up, saying that perhaps he might consider it when I was older, but it was just that.
A No. I respected that, because he was All Might.
So, the USJ occurs. Did I mention I'd copied every student in UA I'd seen around by now? And the Pros. Yeah, so many cool quirks and new combos. Combos that I'd have to use, privately. Combos that I got to use, now. When I got thrown into the Conflagration Zone, all all alone. It was like a Christmas Gift. I got to use so many quirks I hardly got to take out against the villains. It was fun.
Got to the centre, saw Aizawa Sensei getting pinned by the Nomu thing. So, I got over there, used Ectoplasm's clones and just gassed the whole place with Midnight's quirk, spread it more with a few air quirks. So, that dumb creature, just kinda held sensei there. I made him let go of course, Sensei's quirk might be one of the best in my arsenal, I can't thank the original if I let him be treated like this. So many new quirks today. A particularly powerful regeneration one and a portaller was one of the best. Fun fact, regeneration helps stave off my intensive energy requirements for quirk usage!
Honestly, getting to use so many new quirks, it really got me excited. No one bought the fact that I really defeated all the villains with pure skill. I have Nedzu's high specs, I wouldn't either.
So the Sports Festival came. First event, second event. So boring. I played along with Kacchan's quirk, got good enough to enter the 3rd round with it. Now this, this was got people tuning in. One mind controller quirk I quickly got, later, I was fighting Todoroki. He was powerful. He was cool. He had one of the most delicious quirks I'd seen. So I fought him with Kacchan's quirk, it was really so limiting. I asked him to use his fire, make it more interesting, yada yada.
Then he said that I shouldn't talk, after all, I was limiting myself as well.
Fuck. He saw me gassing the villains.
Honestly, this was always going to happen. I stopped listening to my mum's inane fears, I stopped listening to that small ridiculous notion that maybe I had too much power. Ha. Ha.

Ha.

Whooooooo, definitely overdid it. But you know what? That felt good! I made sure none of it hit the audience anyway. Iida surrendered immediately. Kacchan didn't. I used a whole different breed of overkill on him. That will be one of my treasured memories. Why should I have to restrain myself? I needed worthy opponents, and Todoroki was not one.
So, I got an internship with the Hero Commision. Hawks showed up quite a few times, with Tokoyami. Taught the both of us some neat tricks. Offered his quirk, which I would have taken anyway without his need to say. It was nice, but hardly necessary at this point. I took every quirk I could in between rounds anyway. Just walking around the stands in a disguise, so so many pro heroes all in one place. Oh yeah, I was also offered basically every quirk in the building. So many amazing quirks. So many quirks that helped with quirk stamina. So many information gathering powers. I teleported to Hosu, found Stain, beat him up easily. Even got to keep the credit.
Final Exams. I got paired up with Kacchan, against All Might. Honestly, I didn't really have much of a high opinion of him anymore. Didn't let me copy his quirk, the one guy who I'd respect the wishes of with that. That just had to happen. Uurgh. Also, the fact I could actually probably beat him now. Whatever, I was paired with Kacchan. He wanted to fight All Might. I did as well. The difference was that I could beat him, he couldn't. I found him quickly, and unleashed

That...destroyed most of the city. Uhhhhhh, he looked.....skinny. How anticlimactic. Yeah, uh, that happened. I just decided to get to the exit. I passed. Nobody talked about it after that.
Anyhow, there was some event on I-Island. Some hot girl talked with us a lot, turns out her Dad was David Shield. Whoo, and that was his daughter? Nah, already made it awkward enough with All Might. Some villains showed up. They had cool quirks. Just the metal guy. Gotta catch them all. Took bendy fingers from Mr Shield as well, hand powers tend to be good amplifiers.
So, now there was Summer Camp. The Pussycats' quirks are great. The kid staying with them broke his hand on my dick. Ha, serves him right. So, at some point when I was alone, the guy with the Portals appeared before me. He spoke his case before I attacked. Said that my father, a man with very similar powers to mine, simply wanted to talk. Gave me fancy words. It's poor common sense, but I had to admit...it was my dad. I never knew him. I was powerful now, I would be safe.
The portal closed before me. I was in a creepy looking lab, and there was the sounds of laboured breathing. I stepped into the light to see my alleged father, a man missing half his face. I joked if this was just some poor ruse. He then proceeded to name my Mother, and several things about her very oddly specific. Could have been a quirk, could have been good prep, but I had to admit, it made sense.
He then told me his story, his reasons for leaving my Mother, his goals, aspirations. Then he decided that with the way I acted during the Sports Festival, and just how old he was, just how unfulfilling life was. He had decided that, after over a hundred years of being a Demon Lord...life had gotten stale, so Family would finally come first. All I had to do was sit with him for a few hours, long enough I'd be reported missing, a Manhunt would occur. And then...all of the world would be mine.
So, I got to know my father a bit better. He assured me that he wouldn't steal my quirk of course, but the timing had to be just right for me to copy his. It was really quite weird in this atmosphere. Something about the atmosphere bugs this primal feeling, but we were possibly 2 of the strongest men in the world. He just liked sitting in here.
It actually took way longer than expected, but eventually All Might busted his way inside. I had already disappeared. They slugged it out, and it was glorious. The roof/floor opened up as well, and they were back up on the surface. I followed behind, closely. That quirk he gave me, Pride, that made a user so proud of themselves they started to get physical boosts... I know it's mentally effecting me...I know I'm just in the trap... but it still felt great.
Then eventually, he started monologuing. I stepped out, blasted All Might with the good old
Ultimate Move: Explosion+Wave Motion+Half Hot Half Cold's fire side+HellFlame which I got from Endeavour in the stands+Voice+Comic+Pop Off+Gyrate+Clones+Dupli Arms+Big Fist+Laser+Kinetic Booster +Impact+Headache Blast+Piercing Scales+Lizard Tail Splitter+ Propulsion +Accelerator+L+Ratio+ Vector Calculation+Supreme Aim+Resonance+Sharp+ Overbeat+Electricity+Shock wave+Kamikaze+Dragon Scales+Phase+ Permeation+twilight+eyes of wisdom+parimata+pillars of light+Nine Ropes+Polarised Light+ Crow+Shomeyo+The Gap within and without+Black Hole+Forecast+Tornado+ Spiral Mana Bomb+Zip+Your Mother+Warp Blast+Octohit+ Joy+Administrator+Fortitude+Fortress+Barrage+Pencil+Empowerment+Earphone Jack+Sob+Torso Detachment+Zen+Reversal+Rock Fist+Divine General+Holy Grail+Spikes+Telekinesis+Impact Multiplier+Damage Dealer+Arbor+Rickshaws+Ban.
I was greeted with the shocked looks of many Pro Heroes, and that was a News Helicopoter in the air. Aah, whatever. Dad hobbled over to me, then placed his hand on me.
Hundreds more new quirks swam into me.
Finally, as he laid dying on the floor, his last few immortality quirks given to me, he asked me to copy and steal his original quirk, leave nothing behind.
And so I did.
And thus, I walked over to All Might. I copied his quirk.
Energy swam through me, empowering me.
This was the famed quirk Dad wanted? The one he spent so long, spent so hard trying to get? And I'd copied it like any other. Ahahahaha...AHAHAH...

HAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

This was power. All Might lived like this. And now, the world was my oyster.
With dozens of information quirks, I could see exactly what quirks not to copy, and what to copy. I copied every Pro on site I hadn't copied. I copied every Nomu in the laboratories. Then the other laboratories, One for All and many other lesser quirks boosting all the others.
I then started locating a few key fun quirks Dad had given me. Kai Chisaki. Eri Chisaki. Rikiya Yotsubashi. Geten Himura. All of their groups. Another one he had in his lab, a man named Nine. I located every Pro Hero in Japan. I then located every cloning quirk I could find, obedient clones, that is. I swept Japan, copying every little thing that passed my low low standards.
I'd gone past the general rule of quirks being muscles long ago. I didn't get tired anymore. I didn't need to do much I didn't want to do anymore. Then I realised, I might get a little resistance. So, I took a quick detour, teleported around the world, copied Star and Stripe, various other Heroes. Actually, every hero in the world. Then I went back to sweeping Japan.
There wasn't much you could do against me anymore. I had like hundreds of layers of defence for every form of quirk imaginable. I decided to sweep the world of competition, Warlords, villains on my father's level, militias, masterminds and wandering disasters. All fell. I got all their quirks.
At this point, if I was to list out my average Ultimate Move I used for shits and giggles, I'd hit a word count for this reddit prompt. Clones of me everywhere started sweeping the world for good quirks. The Prime, real me, because I didn't copy any where that'd be put into doubt, returned to Japan. I had transfigured an outfit better befitting my power.
I look upon Japan. News everywhere, of what had just happened, and immediate recent events of what was happening. Hmm, some of the reporters were pretty, but eh. Needs my face.
And so I hijacked every TV broadcast in the world, put my face on it. Put some screens up in the sky with quirks for good measure. And projections on the ground as well. I made my declaration.
"No matter what happens, know that I will treat you well. The world will be safe, under my rule".
Short and simple. I had the easy capability to simply replace every head of state with myself. My multitasking skills were unparalleled at this point. I didn't even need cooperation either, though I wouldn't use mind control, humans are what make things fun. Maybe a Chosen one will challenge me in a few years or so. I can and will rule the world in the meantime. The question is, how? So many fun ways to do this. So many fun ways to spread my power.
There's an entire Multiverse out there after all, an entire Existence to conquer. Why stop at one world? Why stop at Earth? I needed worthy opponents, and this world could no longer provide them.

2024.05.03 05:11 dismayed-tumbleweed Taylor Swiftenstein

Taylor Swiftenstein
Hi welcome to my first big post!! It’s been almost a Fortnight since TTPD dropped, and I know we are still at the beginning of whatever this album release period/era? will bring, but I have way too many Frankenstein related thoughts swirling around in my brain already and I need to get them out. I also have a theory it is part of "the braid," along with "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf" and "Peter Pan" but that one is less developed so far
So I think that both the plot of Frankenstein and the work’s journey as a piece of literature and pop culture can be used as tools in interpreting The Tortured Poets Department. I've definitely seen a few people mention Frankenstein before, but the more I looked into it, the more relevant it seemed to become.
Two tropes were invented in Frankenstein, those of the Mad Scientist and his Experiment-Gone-Wrong. I think we can use this duality as a way to interpret TTPD. Extending this metaphor to Taylor might make Taylor Swift the artist & person the flawed but genius Dr. Frankenstein, her public-facing image, her out-of-control experiment.
Some of the more direct references Taylor has made to Frankenstein so far occur as visual references within the Fortnight music video. Most of these examples are very cinematic, and seem to evoke the “movie magic” version of Frankenstein, which is interesting considering this is the Literary album. I think this is one reason Frankenstein might resonate with Taylor. There are countless versions of the Frankenstein story, and even more interpretations of those versions. The story itself is a creation tale about the reanimation of life and the dangers of “playing God,” and its legacy throughout culture seems to mimic the fate of its characters, being brought back to life time after time, but always different, and many times changed for public sentiment and consumption.
https://preview.redd.it/amolzwanl4yc1.png?width=564&format=png&auto=webp&s=256a4c14ed1440579531b8b96f57a68545d73f1a
The opening shot of the video, in which Taylor wears a wedding dress and her hair pinned up in many hairpins, seems to reference James Whale’s Bride of Frankenstein, the sequel to the original Frankenstein film. In the scene, Dr. Frankenstein and his partner have finally succeeded in creating a mate for Frankenstein’s original creature.
She’s Alive! She’s Alive! (Scene from Bride of Frankenstein)
Later in the film scene we see that the scientists have dressed the Bride in a wedding gown. They introduce her as the Bride, and church bells play in the background. Another scene in the “Fortnight” video takes place in something of a mad scientist’s laboratory, also evocative of Frankenstein. The shot where the scientists run tests on Taylor closely mirrors that same scene from Bride of Frankenstein.

The film is referenced once again when the head scientist (literally Todd Anderson) pulls a lever which gives Taylor electric shocks. It was a scene at the end of Bride of Frankenstein which birthed the trope of science labs having a pre-installed “self-destruct lever,” in case of some kind of mad-science calamity. In the film, the lever is pulled by Frankenstein’s monster when he decides he, his bride, and Dr. Pretorius are better off dead. The monster spares Dr. Frankenstein, telling him to run and be with his wife.
Both electricity & lightning relate heavily to Frankenstein. Lightning is also a prominent symbol within Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein, and electricity and Galvanism were major discussions at the time she was writing, when the realities of it were just becoming known. Later in the Fortnight music video, lightning too becomes relevant in the ending scene, in which Taylor sits atop the phone booth in a lightning storm, high above the rest of the scene, in danger of being struck.
Lightning strikes every time she moves: Taylor's public vs. private personas & electricity in the Fortnight music video by liminaldyke
Past references to Frankenstein within the sphere of Taylor Swift lore include:
  • The First Two Pages of Frankenstein by the National. (“The Alcott” appears on this album, and the band first performed it while touring with Patti Smith) **If anyone has intelligent thoughts on this PLS let me know I haven't listened to any of the album except the Alcott but haven't gotten a chance to do anything about it yet!
  • The Anti-Hero music video seems to make reference to Frankenstein, as well as the lyric “And I’m a monster on the hill. Too big to hang out, slowly lurching toward your… favorite city.” (Many regard both Victor Frankenstein and his Creature as Tragic Heroes. Bonus: Aristotle was the one who first laid out the attributes of a Tragic Hero.)
https://preview.redd.it/5px03q2xl4yc1.png?width=490&format=png&auto=webp&s=720f97cc7dac0a493f6b054a24b981d2df78d3cd
  • “Look What You Made Me Do”: What is Frankenstein if not the original zombie? “The old Taylor can’t come to the phone right now. Why? Cause she’s dead.”
  • The concept of coming back from the dead, in general, is not new in Taylor’s music. These instances usually closely align with her public reinventions, and the concept of “Eras” as a whole. Extending this metaphor would make all of Taylor’s public-facing personas into undead beings! Slay!
  • Firelight” is a SNL Twilight spoof skit from 2010. In it, Taylor parodies Bella Swan, if she were in love with Frankenstein’s monster (Bill Hader) instead of a vampire. This connection reminds me of the irony, sarcasm, and humor Tayor uses on TTPD. “Who’s gonna troll you like me?”
There is literally so, so much more and I'm working on a big doc of everything I'm finding related to this and I would love to hear peoples thoughts! Fair warning, it is definitely still incomplete. Just Frankenstein itself is such a beast to get a good handle on, there is so much to cover. I made it so people can comment in the doc! If anyone finds anything I missed or anything I got wrong please let me know! (Peer review me lol!!)

2024.05.02 17:18 bby-bae On what level is Poor Things operating as a satire? Or: my take on Poor Things, which I really did not like—and I'm trying to figure out if I'm missing something or just disagree with the film. Can someone help me understand?

To preface, I thought Poor Films had great performances (my favorite Emma Stone performance to date) and absolutely fantastic production design. It looked fantastic. Also, my issue is not with the sexual content—if anything, I think Poor Things had a pretty shallow investigation into sex compared to what I was expecting after all of the buzz. Actually, when I first saw Poor Things, I kind of liked it, because I thought it was potentially a pretty vigorous satire of the naive bourgeoisie playing pretend at transcendentalist before returning unchanged to the safe confines of her life.
But as time has gone on since seeing this movie, I keep seeing review after review taking it completely earnestly, and I've started to wonder: am I missing something, or do I just not like it after all? If Bella's story is not satirical, I really dislike the messaging.
My issue is: Bella has this incredible, ground-shifting realization where she awakens to class consciousness and decides that she's going to change the world. This seems like a fantastic next step in the film—her attitudes towards revolution expand beyond the personal and sexual and extend to the world around her as well. She declares that she's going to change the world, and live a different kind of life. But here is where it begins to be bitingly satirical (or so I interpreted)—her first action to do this is indirect charity, which so obviously gets robbed by the intermediary and never reaches the lower class. And yet she believes that she's done something productive.
This disconnect between the way that she believes she's being revolutionary and the actual practice of the thing extends for the rest of the film—from there, we enter Act II and Bella's time in the brothel. Here, the film pays lip service to socialism while simultaneously showing how she's not actually achieving the nirvana she believed she would. "We are our own means of production," Bella declares, but that itself is a painfully naive and uninformed line—even though she is her own means of production here, she still doesn't own it, and she's still paying rent to the Madame of the brothel. Her mood gets worse and worse, and there is this real sense that the same sexual experiences that gave her joy when they were hers—because she was enjoying the comforts of the upper class—are now joyless as work. Here too the Madame offers contrary advice, telling her to bear it rather than resist this feeling. Also, she's entirely not changing the world. We get minor references to her continuing desire to do so, but the movie continues to only show Bella's introspection, so now Bella's grandiose ideas seem like failed promises to herself.
Then, Bella returns for the strange third act where she returns to the husband of the woman whose body she's in. I hated this part because it was by far the most unsubtle. Alfie Blessington is this cartoonishly obvious villain who encompasses all of the evils in the film so far, combining aristocracy and sexual repression. On the other hand, there's this strong moment where Bella gets to have this monologue defending her personal discoveries after her journey: she goes on about how Blessington and his wife were cruel, and how Bella has decided that she is utterly against cruelty.
However, that monologue is immediately undercut by Bella putting a goat's brain into his body. Yes, Blessington obviously of course deserved it, but isn't that a cruel and unusual punishment? I don't have an issue with her getting revenge on principle, only that it seems to contradict her own words from earlier; the film ultimately says that some cruelty and revenge is earned. Honestly, I think that might be true, but it makes Bella look like a hypocrite. Bella, who previously had the good-hearted intentions of a newborn, has changed her tactics, with her changed understanding of the world: the world is dark and cruel, and the necessary response is cruelty in return. I don't mind that message, and the first time I watched it, I thought that was completely intentional. It's just that I can't find other people who are seeing it that way.
My interpretation of the ending of the film is tragic, and makes Bella seem like a complete hypocrite in almost all things. Bella returning to her old home made for a strong juxtaposition, but the message it sends is totally contrary to all of her self-professed intentions: She had dedicated herself to learning the world through experience, to explore every possibility and embrace the variety of the human experience, but returns to the small, isolated life she grew up in, with the only man she knew before. She declared herself opposed to cruelty and, wanted to change the world, and lived the life of those less fortunate... and yet, at the end, all of that is forgotten.
She has not changed anything in the world, she has only changed herself. And, selfishly, now that she's learned that lesson and had her experience, she returns to the safety, privilege and wealth of her initial starting point, ensconced in her garden, having saved exactly one person, someone who made a personal connection with her in the brothel.
Ultimately, the ending of the film felt bleak to me: I left the theater thinking that Poor Things was not about the space for joy in the raw experience of being alive in opposition to capitalism, but rather a cynical movie about how the immense cruelties of the world become so overbearing that eventually every innocent succumbs to cruelty in response, and that inevitably, everyone (no matter how remarkable a person) who is born into the elite will return to the safety of their privileged status after a brief jaunt into the hedonistic unknown around them.
And yet, it seems like everyone I talk to and every review I read stops at the first part—that this is a movie about joy and discovery and rebellion. I liked it as a satire, critical of Bella's character. But is the film being earnest, and do I just not like what it's saying? Am I missing something here, am I misunderstanding what other people are saying (and it really is this dark), or do I just not like it?

2024.05.02 04:26 moon__lady My IV sedation experience featuring my 3 wisdom teeth they let me keep!

I was anxious going in but everyone’s stories here made me feel a little better so figured I’d share mine! Featuring my teeth the let me keep and my post hour extraction face lol. I had to under the gum up top and one on my lower that was partially erupted.
I checked in for my appointment at 8 in the morning. Put a own payment down for around $900 (even with health insurance 🥹 yay for having a body). One of the staff called me back, so I hugged my sister goodbye and and went back. She weighed me, asked me some questions about the last time I had ate, menstrual cycle, etc. She then asked if I wanted to keep my teeth afterward! Which I was so excited about because I was going to bug them about it anyways lol. I used to ask the tooth fairy if I could keep my teeth so was gonna feel sad if I couldn’t.
The staff took my temp, attached a blood pressure cuff, put some monitoring sticker things in my chest and ribs, finger monitor, and then a little oxygen thing in my nose (felt like Bella from Twilight in the movie lol). She asked if I wanted a blanket and I said yes. There was some music playing on the radio (Fleetwood Mac, Tom Petty, some upbeat 70s harmonica soft rock which put me at ease ☺️). She was very kind and tapped my arm when she left to reassure me which I appreciated.
I sat for maybe 4-5 minutes waiting for the oral surgeon and his team which was probably the most hard part, because the anticipation was killing me even though I knew I’d be fine. My surgeon came in followed by 3-4 women and they went right to work! He greeted me and I made some jokes, he saw my heart rate was high but reassured me I’d be calm soon. No questions or any small talk really after that, he prepped my arm for the iv and saw my tattoo on my forearm and said “Is that a homunculus?” ( a sperm cell with a small baby in it - an old timey medical drawing of what they used fo think lived inside sperm) As I have a semi niche medical themed tattoo. He was the first person ever to recognize what it was!
There was a small pinch (not bad at all, didn’t even hurt or feel it in me) of the IV. He made some more small talk about homunculus and how there is another kind of homunculus that shows receptors of the brain, and showed the supporting staff the baby in the tattoo; then he said “it’s going to come on a little strong here In a sec”. That didn’t scare me, I just tried to pay a lot of attention to my feelings. I felt almost like I had drank a gin drink really quick, not dizzy but just the room got very warm, the lights felt warmer, and then after that feeling I don’t remember sleeping. The next thing I remember, it was like I had blinked. It wasn’t even waking up per se it was like I had blacked out and then was just in another room. Wasn’t confused, I think I was in a chair in another room. The nurse I think helped me to a wheelchair and wheeled me into the parking lot, which I kind of forget. I started to form real memories once I got in my sisters car and started talking to them.
All in all, I would say the waiting was the most frustrating part and the anticipation was the worst! I have anxious thinking and OCD tendencies so I tend to hyper fixate. One of the ways I cope is by becoming really informed ahead of time of what will happen. I’ve read to much about the science, watched extraction videos, and studied up. So if you are like me, and also afraid of what it may be like to be sedated, know that on day one the worst part will just be the unknown. But to be honest it was kind of cool. If you treat it as like an (expensive but with it) psychedelic experience it’s kind of fun. And you’re so safe in the presence of medical professionals!

2024.05.02 04:13 Junepero Story’s of panem 112 games and after matht

This years arena took place in the Garrigae Manior.
Day 1
Game maker Monty was right about the previous years statement about these next two games being relatively similar. The cornocpuia layed within the lobby of the seaside Garrigae manior. President Mcaine himself chose this arena mainly due to his recent frequenting visits of this manner in particular on his drunken summer Holidays. The Manior had 6 floors the 1st floor being the lobby/corncoupia. The corncopuia itself featured tridents and swords and surprisingly no food. The food could be found in many puesto side stores as an extra scavenger hunt for the tributes. Besides the maniore this years arena was circluar in shape feauturing many stores and trift shops with a salty air breeze that would distract tributes to the sea. Little the tributes know at the time the water was poisonus and if it had direct contact with human skin it would burn it and cause temporary paralysis. In the stores of the arena featured many valuable capital delcaises and weapons. Agrivated monkeys also roamed the arena mainly heighbernating in the trees until provked to awake.
When the tributes podiums rose up Brociade from 2 looked at Jafar from 1 nodding contently back at him as Tiffany from 1 located Anchor from 4. To Brociades right and left were Frank from 8 and Wybrana from 3. Both outliers were mortly petrified of teh carrer boy he even grinned placing the number 2 on his side to Jafar from 1. He noticed this start plan single before pointing at a grinning Qwendlon from 2 as she then pointened at Leon from 7 grimly looking a head.
As the gong sounded only Frank from 8 and Clarion and Victoria both from 5 ran away from then corncopuia. Qwendlon earned the first kill of this years games by tripping Geo from 6 and as he smaked his head on the ground Qwendlon threw the unconscious bleeding boy onto Brociade. Brociade yelped before he then was tackled to the ground by Leon from 7. As Brociade gasped for air he grinned when Leon fell to the ground with a knife in his heart. Tiffany grinned before shoutting “You ok.” Brociade nodded before grabbing a sword before shouting at Tiffany to watch out as Belle from 7 nearly stabbed her in the heart. Luckily for both ladies Belle ran of with a trident. . However with qwendllon hurled a trident at him it ended up impaling Ateno from 3 through the heart. Taking his opportunity at Qwendlons exhaustion Brociade took a trident off the wall of the corncopuia before hurling it into her throat. This death came as a shock to most in snow square but Camilia laughed saying she knew “That” would happen. As Jafar and Tiffany finished off the pair from 11 the remaining 20 tributes that werent the carrers ran off as the 6 blood bath cannons sounded.
“Finally that demented pig is gone.”
Brociade laughed before then turning in surprise not seeing Anchor. “Wheres the boy.”
“I think he pissed his pants after the blood bath.”
Tiffany laughed as the three took the remaining supplies before walking up the maniore rooms becoming quiet entranced at the pure luxury of the beds and decoir. Even the pair from one were transficked upon the architecture and jewlerly designs. The 3 of them then proceed to rest keeping watch over the arena. After afew hours of watching they heard a cannon sound. This was Marina from 4 after her district partner Anchor had grown quite impateint with Marina’s constant sobbing episodes before snapping her enck within an instant in an fit of rage. The pair from 1 and Brociade from 2 walked toward the window of where they had previously saw Marina’s deayj seeomh the pair from 8 walking the streets.
“Should we go for him.”
Jafar grinned before a sposmor gift flew down.
Tiffany then grabbed the gift before grinning as she then took out a shiny silver bow. Brociade looked on with a rather sour expression as viewers in snow square laughed Silca recounted “Someone’s jealloius.”.
Tiffany then took out a few arrows from the quiver before spotting out the window spotting the pair. As they stopped in there tracks.
“Did you hear something.”
Frank shrugged before continuing.
“Lets see if I can get a 2 in one special wanna try if I miss Brociade.”
He nodded before Tiffany shot her first double set of arrows. As they narrowly missed the pair. She swore before quickly tossing the bow and arrows to brociade he then stuck his head out before shooting the two double arrows at the pair from 8 threw there necks. As 2 cannos sounded Tiffany smiled before asking “Is that how its done.”
Brociade winked before saying “Indeed.” Back in the capital when this scene was replayed Camilia laughed before swearing she saw Brociade blush. As the moonlight soon enriched the arena the carrers were luckily sponsored a small feast of capital goodies from there good ol show. Brociade took first watch as Jafar Tiffany slept. At mid night horn of plenty played featuring the 9 fallen tributes. Qwendlon from 2 Anteno from 3 Marina from 4 Geo from 6 Leon from 7 the pair from 11 leaving 17 remaining.
Day 2
After Jafar’s morning watch came to an end. The three had a brief breakfast before watching for any action. However after growing quiet bored after no apparent action a cannon sounded. This was revealed to be Blanche from 10 after having an unforeanut encounter with Anchor from 4 in one of the vila stores.. After an short chase Anchor eventually caught up with her before throwing her in the acid water.
After this death was announced game maker monty made an live announcment. He congratulated the tributes on making it to the second day before suggesting they “Hide or get to an higher altuide” before an acidic tsunami would crash into the arena. As the wave startedts course many shouts of horror crossed the streets. Luckily for the carrers they still resided in the maniore however Jafar suggested that they’d go up to the roof that way they could have an overview of the arena and eventually eliminate more od the competition. As they then reached the roof a cannon sounded.
This was later revealed to be Wybrana from 3 as she succesfuly climbed a tall tree however she was soon whacked across ahead by Anchor from 4 and Bellle from 7 slammed her sword into Wybranna’s stomach. As the wave claimed Kaden from 9 Remedia from 12 and the girl from 14. After the girl from 14s cannon sounded. 2 sposnor gifts flew down.
Brociade walked up to the gift before smiling happliy at it taking his brand new “Shiny and rather expensive golden bow”. This gift and alongside Finnick Odair’s trident were known as the most expensive gifts in hunger games history. However as a note resided in the bottom of this sponsor gift Camilia declined to read it out loud to spare the ears of capital and district viewers,
As the wave returned to the bay game maker monty made an announcement declaring the streets to be safe to traverse. The carrers then begun there target practices splitting up to 3 corners of the maniore roof shooting near by birds and potentialy passing tributes. However after 6 hours of no action Tiffany gasped seeing Lunar from 6 weakly walking toward the manior as a last ditch effort to get food,.
“Who wants her.”
Jafar and Brociade immedtlay ran forward before aiming at the weak girl. However before she was about to enter the manior Brociade shot his first arrow. As it hit Lunar in the shoulder she screamed out as Brociade then was shoved out of the way by Jafar as he then shot more arrows at Lunar nearly all of them missed causing Tiffany to scream “She’s getting away!.’’
However as Lunar successfully limped away Jafar pushed Brociade to the ground rather agroantley shouting “It was you who missed.” However as Brociade had grown tired of being the punching back punched Jafar in the face.
“Your really gonna act like a child now you brat”
However as Jafar fought back and kicked Brociade in the crotch. He winced in pain before the pair got into a brutal fist fight. viewers in the captial started laughing hysterically at Tiffany’s face in the result of the fight of pure bewilderment.
Tiffany then grabbed both Jafar and Brociade by the scruffs of there necks meansingly saying
“We gonna act like real carrers or what?’
As Jafar stuck his middle finger out at Brociade he then gripped onto his trident as Tiffany rather surprisingly slammed her knife into Jafar heart. As he spluttered bloood and tried to attack Brociade he soon slipped in his own blood he screaned before falling off the roof of his cannon soon sounding. After Jafar’s cannon sounded Tiffany let a sny grin cross her face she grinned saying “Your welcome” before winking at Brociade. Brociade smirked before he and Tiffany chatted about lives in there own districts with Tiffany becoming entranced with interest when Brociade talked about the Heath Academy in his district and how he had pranked Qwendlons mentor Jade one time by putting a cockroach in her coffe which ended up being a fake resulting in Tiffany laughing hysterically. As night fell Tiffany asked if Brociad ecould keep first watch however a knife came whistling at there general direction. The pair doged before seeing Raven from 9 angrily hurling more knives at the pair. Viewers in the capital could see her blood shot eyes as she shouted that they “Would pay for killing Kaden”. Tiffany responded that they “Didnt kill him” but before Tiffany could say anything else Brociade stabbed Raven through the neck. As Raven begun to cough blood she soon faded out of consicous her cannon sounded.
Brociade and Tiffany soon walked back into the manior before the pair then slept in the nearest room. At midnight horn of plenty played featuring the 7 fallen tributes. Jafar from 1 Wybrana from 3 Kaden and Raven both from 9 Blanche from 10 Remeda from 12 and the girl from 14 leaving 10 tributes remaining. Tiffany from 1 Brociade from 2 Anchor from 4 Victoria and Clarion both from 5 Lunar from 6 belle from 7 Yreil from 10 sebastian from 12 and the boy from 14 remaining.
Day 3
Both of teh carrers decided it would be best for them to exit the manoir. And as they did this early in the morning an cannon rang out. This was Lunar from 6 after she had tried to climb the tree Wybrana had climbed the day before but the now imafous “coconut duo” and the suprsing crowd of monkeys attacked Lunar with the coconuts before she was finished of by Yreil from 10.
“I hope its that girl that nearly got you thrown off the manior roof>”
Brociade laughed before stopping for a second. As the quiet morning sun light soon became littered with dark clouds. As tornadoes begun to form the remaining nine tributes scattered through out the arena, Brociade and Tiffany soon spotted a distressed sebastian from 12 running away from Anchor from 4 and Belle from 7 with a few of there monkeys 🐒 with racing alongside.
Tiffany soon “shouted nice to see you again Anchor where were you from the first fay.”
Anchor flipped her of before throwing her trident at Tiffany, She yelped before throwing her self to the ground. The 2 groups of tributes barrled into the monior again before there fight resumed. Brociade lunged at Anchor slamming his face into a table as Tiffany and Belle begun widley shooting arrows at each other. Viewers in snow squares cheers grew at deathing level as Tiffany managed to get the upper hand against belle however just before she was about to stab Belle a Trident flew through there landing into Tiffany’s stomach. Brociade shouted out as he then delivered his signature move kicking Anchor in the stomach. He winced before Tiffany somehow got up and hurled her remaining arrow as it flew into anchors head. As his cannon sounded belle swore before slamming Anchors Trident into her heart. Tiffany’s cannon soon sounded as Belle looked wearily at Brociade before smiling saying.
“Thats for Anchor.”
As Belle ran off 2 more cannons sounded. Clarion and Victoria both from 5 had unforeanutly been sucked up into the tornado before being droopped from a high height crashing down into the ground.
Brociade walked over to Tiffanys body before pulling a rather kind move covering Tiffanys body with his shirt. He returned to the top floor of the monior before resting and eating the rest of the remaining rations he had. As the tornados soon dissipated game maker monty made another announcement. He congratulated the final four tributes on making to the final 4 before announcing that if a tribute were not back in the manior’s first floor in 5 minutes there tracker would denote.
As curious sounds of intrigue and interest and cheers sounded in snow square Brociade Yreil Belle and the boy from 14 made mad dash to the floor. The boy from 14 had been tripped up by Belle before she hurled one of her last remaining coconut shells at his head. Brociade soon spotted Yreil from 10 quickly running at him with a sword. However he then tripped giving Brociade the upper hand stabbing him in the heart. Brociade breathed and suddenly sat down happlily smiling. However as Brociade was having his “Winning fantasy” smiling and holding his knife in an action hero way a voice was soon heard saying “Coconuts are girls best friend.”
Brociade yelped before Belle quietly lowered her self from the ceiling of the first floor slicing Brociade’s throat. Viewing square was shocked and surprised as Brociade’s sadly saying “Im sorry Herminia”.
As Brociade’s cannon sound Belle grinned happly before sitting down in exhaustion as game maker monty crowned Bella “Belle” Figoura of district 7 had just won the 112th hunger games. In the mentoring gallery Herminia angrily ran out of the gallery as Acaia Ebony smiled serinly.
For her victors interview Belle was adorned in a light brown gown with cherry blossoms falling from top to bottom her messy red hair was straightened out and then braided. Eagle eye viewers could see a small anchor tatto on her neck as a momento to Anchor mean while camilia was adorned in a twilight yellow dress with green leaves decorating top of the dress.
She congratulated Belle on her rather sneaky victory. Before declaring her “The coconut assassin” by the captial causing her laugh. When pressed on her strategy Belle smiled and said “thank mrs ebony for it we made a plan the night before the games.” The captial citizens gasped as Acaia was seeen smiling warmly and nodding Canilia then asked if there was any “romatinc feelings” toward Anchor. Belle smiled and nodded as Camilia gasped before pressing her for details. As the pair had “lady chat”. After going over her 3 kills Belle commended Tiffany and brociades determination to win the games causing audience members and Camila said”aww”. Belle soon smiled warmly before bowing as she was then dismissed from the stage as game maker Monty was welcomed to the stage.
Cyrus regally waved to the audience in his stylish rainbow suit with a pure white bountiner. After he and camilia hugged each other game maker Monty announced that the following year would be his final year as the game maker. Many sounds of sadness and shouts of “‘no” sounded he then added in that he wanted to “start a family with silca”.
As the Saddness turned to cheers Camila smiled warmly before doing her usual “arena hints” requests. Cyrus grinned before saying to look for certain areas on this years games as hints. Many captial citizens gasped before shouting at game maker Monty to come back to the stage he grinned before camilia tried to calm the audience down. However as this was to no use she smiled before ending the interviews there.
Belle returned home to district 7 moving into the victors village with her sister and orphan friends. She would later go on to open her lumber company in the heart of the district. After the 116th games Belle became the mentor for both male and female tributes before she was rejoined by her mentor acaia ebony after whisterio Jansensions admission to the Mcaine physiatristic. She would later go on and marry her future husband Herb Jordan the pair would go on and have 5 kids together 1 would be chosen for a later games.

2024.04.29 23:36 BeomgyuisBest0413 Why was Bella apologizing to Edward in the first Twilight novel?

In the first Twilight novel after Bella had been sent to the hospital, why was she apologizing to Edward so much? Yes, Edward was the reason she was alive at that moment, but also the reason she was in the hospital, and he’d almost gotten her killed multiple times, yet she was apologizing like there was tomorrow. If anyone deserved an apology after what had happened, it was Jasper and Alice, but especially Jasper. Alice was Bella’s best friend so Bella knew Alice would forgive her quite easily. But Jasper had been forbidden from talking to Bella by Edward, and in turn they never developed much of a relationship till much later in the series. However, when the whole James situation was happening Jasper did all he could for Bella without completely breaking Edward’s rule. Jasper made her feel safer, comforted her, made her feel less scared, anxious, or worried, and made her feel like she was worth the effort they were putting in to protect her. Even when Bella was against herself Jasper used his gift to put her in the best mental state she could’ve been in during the situation. And Jasper did all that was in his power to keep her safe physically. And guess what Bella did in return, she not only didn’t utter word to him for the rest of the book, she essentially ignored his existence the best she could, only acknowledging him when it was necessary.

2024.04.29 22:48 lol_chair I found some of Catherine Hardwicke's alternative "spider monkey" lines

The post on here about favorite weird lines from the movies made me do a little digging because I remembered something about how Rob picked the "you'd better hold on tight, spider monkey" line... not only did I confirm that story about how Rob is the one who gave us this glorious line, but I found some (yiiiiikes-worthy) alternate choices that Catherine gave him.
Here is the proof: This article from MTV tells the story of how Catherine gave Rob all these lines to say and then Rob said "I want to say the spider-monkey one." It then says 5 options that Catherine showed MTV. Then there's a link on there that goes to the MTV movies blog to reveal 3 more options, but that link is dead! I found an archive of that link on Wayback Machine, and there's a poll there with 4 options, telling people to guess which one is the fake one, but it said the answer would be revealed Monday... but I couldn't find the answer on there. I saw the article was posted Thursday, June 4, 2009, so I looked for something posted Monday, June 8, 2009 and found a Twilight theories blog that revealed the answer lol. I did all the homework so you don't have to.
Anyway, with all that being said, here they are in their awkward glory!!
  1. Edward: You're not scared of heights, are you? Bella: Not that I know of...
  2. Edward: Hold on tight... Bella: Don't worry...
  3. Edward: Wrap your arms around me like a spider monkey. Bella: Done.
  4. Edward: Got a good grip? Don't let go. Bella: No chance of that, buddy.
  5. Edward: Prepare for liftoff...
  6. Edward: Prepare for takeoff...
  7. Edward: Fasten your seat belt, it's going to be a bumpy ride.
  8. Edward: Are you secure? There may be some turbulence.
So no, Catherine at least did not recommend the line "Don't worry. My hair acts as an airbag." but kinda crazy that the lines are so ridiculous that you could've fooled me!
But YEAH... so that's the story of how we got the iconic line "you better hold on tight, spider monkey." From all of us wanna-be spider monkeys, thank you Rob. (and tbh, I'm glad he picked that one if these were the potential options LOL)

2024.04.29 12:08 Sweetie-07 Looking for a particular song..

Hi guys, I was wondering if anybody knows if it's possible to find a full song anywhere? The song I'm trying to find is called 'Let Me Sign' by Robert Pattinson, and the clip from it is found on the first Twilight Saga movie (when Bella's needing the nasty James the vampire's venom sucked out of her by Edward, if anyone's interested!) 😂 I've tried all the usual search methods (like YouTube, Google etc) but have had no luck, so I thought I'd ask you guys.. 😉 Thanks in advance for any help! 🙏❤️

2024.04.29 04:16 ChronicallyIllBadAss (F4Aplaying M) The Right Cullen. Slow burn Bella/ Carlisle

(F4playing M) The Right Cullen Carlisle/bella slow burn
Hello there, do you love Twilight? Do you love slow burns? Do you wonder what it would be like if Bella had gotten to be with Carlisle? I do, and I may have the perfect role for this.
A little about me: my name is Em. I am a female in her 20s. I am in the CST time zone, though I'm more than happy to roleplay with you if you aren't in that time zone. Typically, I write around 500–1k words per post. I can from time to time break the discord limit, so I would like you to try and match me. I write in the third person, but this role seems to call for the first person. So I apologize if that is a little rusty. I enjoy NSFW content, but it will not be the main focus of the role. I do a ratio of 80 percent plot to 20 percent smut.
So what would I like from you as a partner? I’m so glad you asked!
I would like you to match my length; be okay with chatting out of character. It’s important that you have read the books or seen the movies. I enjoy sending funny videos and making playlists for our roles. So please be open to that. Also please have a discord. I use discord to role-play.
Now that that is out of the way, let’s get to the plot and start!
Plot:
After graduation, Edward gives Bella an ultimatum. She must marry him to be changed and have her last human experience. Bella finally breaks down, realizing that maybe just maybe Jacob and Charlie were right. Edward doesn’t love her, or at least, love isn’t enough.
Bella tells him no, which leads to their breakup fight. A huge fight, leaving Bella alone but happier. She is afraid that she will lose her family because of this, but Alice sees something that changes that. In her vision, Alice sees that Bella will still be like them. The only thing that has a chance is the person by her side. Little does the Cullen family know that their father’s marriage is falling apart. Will Bella be the one to put the family back together?
I know the plot is kind of short, but basically, Esme and Carlisle break up. Bella and Edward are over, leaving Bella and Carlisle to seek comfort in each other. The password is t.i.t.s.o.a.k bonus points if you know what it stands for.
Starter:
Graduation had happened, and the attention was finally off of me. I could blend back into the background once again. Well, until Edward made his way over to me.
The last conversation hung heavy in the air. I asked to be changed, and once again, he begged me to marry him. Something changed after the last conversation, and when it finally hit me, why wasn’t I enough? There was always another hoop I had to jump through for him. I was tired of it.
“Bella,” Alice said with a smile as she floated to me. Her beauty once again makes me feel a little less than. Alice’s dress was long and black; it was flowing behind her as she walked. “Come on, we are throwing a party at our house; you cannot be late.” Alice said. Her smile made it seem like it would be alright. I shot a glare at Jasper, who just smiled.
“Fine, but what about Charlie? He will want me home,” I said, hoping that would get me out of this. “Relax, we covered it with Charlie; he is fine; I even brought dinner over for him.” She said it in her musical voice.
Agreeing to a party thrown at Edward’s house was the last thing I wanted. I didn’t want to even be in the same room as him; I knew it would come down to the same fight. He would ask me to marry him, and again, I would pause, unable to say no.
Walking into the Cullen house, I smiled at seeing Esme cooking, though she looked almost out of place. It seemed like she was hiding something. As I pushed past the kitchen, I tried to ignore the next part of what was to come. His room used to be his home. It used to be my happy place. No, not the room; he was my happy place. Now I wasn’t sure.
“Bella, let’s talk about this.” He said he was next to me in a flash. It took a moment for my eyes to adjust as I looked at him. “We have talked,” I said, watching his jaw clench and his muscles go rigid. “I don’t want to marry you yet.” I said. It wasn’t entirely a lie. I did not want to marry him anymore. “Then you will never get what you want.” Edward said the vermin in his voice was heavy. “So that's it? Just like that, we are over.” I asked as I got up, walking off. I only made it to the doorway before turning back to him. “Yes.” He spat.
“Can someone take me home?” I asked, walking into the kitchen. Alice nodded. “Carlisle can take you home.” She said it with a sad look on her face. The garage was cold compared to the rest of the house. Though the black sedan Carlisle waited inside was warm enough, “Thank you,” I said as I slid into the passenger's seat.
“Bella I want you to know that you will always be welcome in our home, even if you and Edward are not together. Sometimes love isn’t always enough. I understand that more than you know.” Carlisle said. I wasn’t sure why he was opening up to me, but it was a welcome change. “Thank you,” I said as I sat there for a moment.
That night was the first time I dreamed of Carlisle Cullen. It was also the first time I slept without nightmares, with Edward watching me. It was also the last time I saw any of the Cullens for a while. The last time I saw them was seven months ago, to be exact. Sure, we still texted and stuff, but I spent most of my time with Angela and Mike now, even seeing Jacob and Seth more.
Well, until today. “Bella, pack a bag; you need to come with me,” Alice said on the other end of the phone. Even with the panic or some other emotion in her voice, it was still musical. “Okay, but I’m not talking to Edward,” I said as she pulled into the driveway. I hung up the phone and watched her pull up along with Charlie’s police cruiser.
“What’s going on?” I asked as I got into her bright yellow Mustang convertible. “Esme is gone.” She said in a barely audible whisper that before I knew it, a letter was being shoved in my hands. The crème stationary was heavy, like cardstock paper. The letter, the goodbye letter Esme had written to her family and Carlisle, was in my hands. “How can I help during this?” I asked, chewing my bottom lip. I didn’t exactly know Carlisle well enough to be in this, I thought. “You help him; I have seen it.” Alice said her voice told me she was sure. I was the one to pull him from this.
Even now, the house feels strange, like I shouldn’t have been in it. Though I knew I was more than welcome, “He is in his study.” Emmett said. His face was expressionless, no doubt because Rosalie was clearly upset. Jasper was trying to ease the emotional tension in the room. “Okay,” I said as I walked up the stairs slowly. My blue jeans and sweatshirt were starting to feel suffocating. I knew they could all hear my heart race, but no one said anything. I was so grateful for that. Knocking on the study door, I paused, waiting to see if he would answer it. If he wanted to speak to me, “Carlisle? I asked softly, knowing he would hear me even through the door.
