2024.06.09 17:11 hideTheGoats GameStop might be suffering from an attempted Corporate Raid

The intention of this post is to connect the dots on a lot of information that has been floating around since the ATM offerings, as well as present some relevant corporate finance terminology in an easily digestible manner. I encourage anyone to find any inaccuracies; I will happily update the post with correct information once verified. Any links to other subs have been run through archive.org to comply with the brigading rules.

First, some review for the uninitiated and forgetful:
Before Ryan Cohen joined the Board of Directors, GameStop was well on its way to being “Cellar-boxed.” In short, this is when a target stock is naked shorted to the point of being worthless. Cellar-boxing is detailed in this old post, which should serve as a starting point if you are unfamiliar. I believe the interested parties were loosely following the playbook detailed in this old post (edited for brevity/clarity):
1. Hold long positions in companies which support your thesis.
2. Acquire any company that stands to compete with your long position.
3. Drown them in debt for years to come.
4. Instantly spend that capital to needlessly open and remodel a bunch of stores
5. Aggressively mismanage the company, ruining its reputation and jacking up prices.
6. Default on debt all the while naked shorting the living shit out of the stock.
7. Take the proceeds from shorting and invest it into your long positions (which are direct competitors with the companies you just shorted) raising their stock price.
8. Use media to draw attention to the stock price disparity between the shorted company and your long positions
9. Promote your bear thesis for your short position and your bull thesis for your long position.
10. Control the narrative.
After joining the Board of Directors in Jan 2021, Ryan Cohen committed to a Corporate Raid. Also known as a hostile takeover, it is defined as the process of buying a large stake in a corporation and then using shareholder voting rights to require the company to undertake novel measures designed to increase the share value, generally in opposition to the desires and practices of the corporation's current management.
After the takeover was completed, Ryan Cohen and board have been busy beavers, quietly doing all that business stuff that slides right off our delightfully smooth brains. One of these moves was to authorize GameStop to issue additional shares, declared in the 8-K issued 6/1/2022:
The total number of shares of stock that the Corporation shall have authority to issue is 1,005,000,000 of which (i) 1,000,000,000 shares shall be shares of Class A Common Stock, par value $.001 per share (the “Class A Common Stock” or “Common Stock”), and (ii) 5,000,000 shares shall be shares of Preferred Stock, par value $.001 per share (the “Preferred Stock”), issuable in one or more series as hereinafter provided.
In the 424B5 filed 5/17/2024, the following language appears for the first time (emphasis mine):
Our charter and bylaws may be deemed to have an anti-takeover effect and may delay, defer or prevent a tender offer or takeover attempt that a stockholder might consider in its best interest, including those attempts that might result in a premium over the market price for the shares held by stockholders.
The authorized but unissued shares of common stock and preferred stock are available for future issuance without stockholder approval. These additional shares may be utilized for a variety of corporate purposes, including future public offerings to raise additional capital, corporate acquisitions and employee benefit plans. The existence of authorized but unissued shares of common stock and preferred stock could render more difficult or discourage an attempt to obtain control of us by means of a proxy contest, tender offer, merger or otherwise.
I believe Ryan Cohen and the board have noticed activity indicating that they are being targeted by a Corporate Raid, and that these offerings are being used as a pseudo Poison Pill. A Poison Pill is a type of defensive tactic used by a corporation's board of directors to defend against a takeover bid. Once triggered, shareholders are able to buy more shares at a discount. Such purchases would dilute the bidder’s interest, and the cost of the bid would rise substantially.
The strange bit to this theory is that in a traditional Poison Pill, the non-raiding shareholders are the only ones able to purchase. As enacted, anyone can purchase the new shares, including the raiders. Except this is not a standard situation, and I would assume the board has access to information that we do not. All things considered, they may be relying on being able to purchase themselves (after the lockout period) and/or relying on Apes to do what they do best. Time will tell.
So, raising capital through ATM offerings accomplishes both:
· Increasing book value, raising the effective floor of the share price
· Dilutes existing positions, making a hostile takeover prohibitively expensive
I believe Ryan Cohen and the board are basically using institutions attempting a Corporate Raid as a source of buy pressure and increasing the floor price at their expense. If the institutions keep at it, they will continue to drive the stock price up despite the dilution, catching themselves in a feedback loop. If they give it up and liquidate their position, they will likely suffer a significant loss while having already donated to GameStop’s coffers.
And all of this works without concern because of the Dead-hand Provision found in the same filings:
Our charter and bylaws further provide that special meetings of our stockholders may be called only by the Chairman of the Board of directors, the Chief Executive Officer or a majority of the board of directors.
A Dead-hand Provision allows only the directors who introduce the Poison Pill to remove it. So even if these hostile institutions manage to buy their way into a spot (or several) on the board, they still need majority approval of the board to hold a special meeting of stockholders! If it ever gets that far, voting your shares will be extremely important.
TL;DR
We’ve been so focused on short selling that we forgot about how greasy Wall Street is, even when they’re acting legally. I believe Ryan Cohen and the board are using these ATM offerings to protect GameStop against a hostile takeover while simultaneously raising the book value of the stock.

Jesus Heals the Man Born Blind

Christ is risen, dear brothers and sisters! Today, in the Sunday of the Week of the Blind Man, the Gospel of John (John 9: 1-38) is read at the Divine Service.
1 And as Jesus passed by, he saw a man which was blind from his birth.
2 And his disciples asked him, saying, Master, who did sin, this man, or his parents, that he was born blind?
3 Jesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him.
4 I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.
5 As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.
6 When he had thus spoken, he spat on the ground, and made clay of the spittle, and he anointed the eyes of the blind man with the clay,
7 and said unto him, Go, wash in the pool of Silo´am, (which is by interpretation, Sent.) He went his way therefore, and washed, and came seeing.
8 The neighbors therefore, and they which before had seen him that he was blind, said, Is not this he that sat and begged?
9 Some said, This is he: others said, He is like him: but he said, I am he.
10 Therefore said they unto him, How were thine eyes opened?
11 He answered and said, A man that is called Jesus made clay, and anointed mine eyes, and said unto me, Go to the pool of Silo´am, and wash: and I went and washed, and I received sight.
12 Then said they unto him, Where is he? He said, I know not.
13 They brought to the Pharisees him that aforetime was blind.
14 And it was the sabbath day when Jesus made the clay, and opened his eyes.
15 Then again the Pharisees also asked him how he had received his sight. He said unto them, He put clay upon mine eyes, and I washed, and do see.
16 Therefore said some of the Pharisees, This man is not of God, because he keepeth not the sabbath day. Others said, How can a man that is a sinner do such miracles? And there was a division among them.
17 They say unto the blind man again, What sayest thou of him, that he hath opened thine eyes? He said, He is a prophet.
18 But the Jews did not believe concerning him, that he had been blind, and received his sight, until they called the parents of him that had received his sight.
19 And they asked them, saying, Is this your son, who ye say was born blind? how then doth he now see?
20 His parents answered them and said, We know that this is our son, and that he was born blind:
21 but by what means he now seeth, we know not; or who hath opened his eyes, we know not: he is of age; ask him: he shall speak for himself.
22 These words spake his parents, because they feared the Jews: for the Jews had agreed already, that if any man did confess that he was Christ, he should be put out of the synagogue.
23 Therefore said his parents, He is of age; ask him.
24 Then again called they the man that was blind, and said unto him, Give God the praise: we know that this man is a sinner.
25 He answered and said, Whether he be a sinner or no, I know not: one thing I know, that, whereas I was blind, now I see.
26 Then said they to him again, What did he to thee? how opened he thine eyes?
27 He answered them, I have told you already, and ye did not hear: wherefore would ye hear it again? will ye also be his disciples?
28 Then they reviled him, and said, Thou art his disciple; but we are Moses' disciples.
29 We know that God spake unto Moses: as for this fellow, we know not from whence he is.
30 The man answered and said unto them, Why herein is a marvelous thing, that ye know not from whence he is, and yet he hath opened mine eyes.
31 Now we know that God heareth not sinners: but if any man be a worshipper of God, and doeth his will, him he heareth.
32 Since the world began was it not heard that any man opened the eyes of one that was born blind.
33 If this man were not of God, he could do nothing.
34 They answered and said unto him, Thou wast altogether born in sins, and dost thou teach us? And they cast him out.
35 Jesus heard that they had cast him out; and when he had found him, he said unto him, Dost thou believe on the Son of God?
36 He answered and said, Who is he, Lord, that I might believe on him?
37 And Jesus said unto him, Thou hast both seen him, and it is he that talketh with thee.
38 And he said, Lord, I believe. And he worshipped him.
(John 9:1-38)
The lines of today's Gospel reading, dear brothers and sisters, tell about the healing of a man born blind. Before the Savior healed this man, the disciples asked: Rabbi, who sinned, him or his parents, that he was born blind? (John 9, 2).
Boris Gladkov explains: “The apostles, as well as the majority of Jews, believed that all the most important misfortunes happen to people no other way than as a punishment for special sins, and not only for their own, but also for the sins of their parents, grandfathers and great-grandfathers; this belief was based on the law of Moses, which stated that God punishes children for the guilt of their fathers up to the third and fourth generation, and on the teachings of the rabbis, who stated that a child can sin in the womb."
In answering this question, the Lord indicates instead of the reason the purpose for which this man was born blind: neither he nor his parents sinned, but this in order that the works of God might appear on him (John 9:3). That is, so that through his healing it would be revealed that Christ is the “Light of the World”, that He came into the world to enlighten mankind, which was in spiritual blindness, the image of which is bodily blindness.
Therefore the Lord he spat on the ground, and made clay of the spittle, and he anointed the eyes of the blind man with the clay, and said to him, “Go, wash in the pool of Siloam” (John 9: 6-7).
Archbishop Averky (Taushev) writes: “We may suppose that all this was necessary to excite faith in the healed man: to make him realize that now a miracle would be performed on him. The Siloam font was arranged on the Siloam spring, which flowed out from under the sacred Mount Zion, as a place of God's special presence in Jerusalem and the temple, and therefore, as if it was given or sent by God to His people as a special favor, and therefore it was considered a sacred spring with symbolic meaning."
Having washed in the waters of Siloam, the man born blind received his sight, which made a strong impression on those who knew him. After hearing the healed man's story, he was taken to the Pharisees to tell them about the miracle. The Pharisees told the sighted man that he should glorify the God who had healed him, but immediately accused Christ of being a sinner and not keeping the Sabbath. But the healed man, who saw not only with his bodily but also with his spiritual eyes, answered, “If he were not of God, he could do nothing" (John 9:33).
The Lord, who heard that the Pharisees had cast out the seeing man, found him and, revealing Himself to him, led him to faith in Himself as the Son of God.
The verses of today's Gospel reading, dear brothers and sisters, remind us of how human nature changes when we encounter the grace of God. Let us entreat the Lord to deliver us from the spiritual blindness that gives rise to sinful passions, so that our eyes may be opened.
The Lord in His mercy and through our faith can grant us this miracle and bring us into His eternal kingdom, if we, not yet seeing the beauty and glory of the kingdom of heaven, strive for salvation and ask the Lord to enlighten us with His light.
May our risen Lord help us in this endeavor!

2024.06.09 16:36 BitXorBit Rail Vision ($RVSN): Full Steam Ahead

Companies that go public before reaching profitability can be harder to analyze. Investors are used to having net earnings performance as an initial screening tool, but when forming a view on an early-stage company, you have to look for other starting points. That scares some people away, but it also means that there’s plenty of space to find companies right at the start of their growth trajectory – and when you do, you’ll be thankful that you got in early.
One stock that fits this category is Rail Vision (RVSN), a NASDAQ-listed technology company that builds AI-powered sensors for trains. If you’re on the hunt for an interesting multibagger play, I’d say it fits the bill: the company itself has racked up impressive milestones over the past few months even while keeping expenses under control, and the stock price is sitting at an attractive entry point given what’s on the horizon. Intrigued? Read on…
Overview and Performance
Rail Vision was founded in 2016 and floated on the NASDAQ in 2022. It pretty much does what it says on the tin: AI-powered computer vision and smart sensors for railway vehicles, which can detect obstacles on the tracks ahead in any weather. This technology gets train much closer to being autonomous – think of Tesla’s self-driving cars, but for the railroads – and makes the operating companies less dependent on human train drivers, whose vision can be impaired in inclement weather. Essentially, the having the Rail Vision onboard improves passenger safety, reduces the chances of on-track collisions, and lowers the risk of a simple human error leading to a tragedy. They’re also a step towards removing the need for a driver entirely, which would have a significant impact on profitability.
Rail Vision’s stock hasn’t had as smooth a ride as the trains that use its technology: after floating above $20 in 2022, the price sagged for the rest of the year, before briefly approaching it’s the $17 mark in early 2023. Since then, in keeping with the general small-cap market sentiment as rates rose and even optimists became a little more sober, the stock has trended downwards, even flirting with the $1 floor at the start of January. At the end of that month RVSN exploded upwards, probably thanks to the announcement of a large private placement being closed, before reverting back to its previous $1-2 range.
Milestones this quarter
Whether closing new deals, opening up new markets, or building up its technological clout, it’s been full steam ahead for Rail Vision in 2024. In January, the company inked a supply contract with a major American rail outfit to supply its AI-based Switch Yard Systems; the first phase of the deal will run to $1,000,000, with the potential for the entire contract to generate up to $5,000,000. That was quickly followed by the March announcement of another US order for the Switch Yard System, this time from a major freight rail company. Rail Vision’s lifetime revenue to the end of 2023 was just $1.45 million, so it’s safe to say that these contracts signal a step change in the company’s execution of its go-to-market strategy.
Beyond the customer order book, Rail Vision has racked a series of other notable achievements in the past few months. Back in January, the company’s products received official certification for usage on the EU rail network – one of the largest in the world – covering its software, hardware equipment, fire protection and performance reliability. At the start of February, Rail Vision’s technology was awarded a patent in India, paving the way for the company to attack that market too. And in the same month, the company confirmed that it was joining NVIDIA Metropolis, an application framework administered by the GPU giant that gives AI and IoT companies access to a range of developer tools, supercharging the process of building and deploying computer vision technology.
Financials
The company’s latest financial statements show that it’s growing in all these areas from a solid foundation. For starters, 2023 saw Rail Vision post a Gross Profit margin of 57%, after recording a gross loss the year before, a clear sign that the fundamental product and manufacture model is robust. On the other side of the income statement, both R&D and G&A costs have stayed relative stable, showing that the company has maintained spending discipline. Overall, 2023 saw expenditure of around $11m, with only $142k of revenue recorded – but as mentioned above, the contracts that Rail Vision is signing are valued in the millions of dollars. With spending remaining stable, that spells a clear path either to profitability, or to increased cash availability for investment in further growth. Either way, the financials are set to look far healthier this year as the company starts booking serious revenue for the first time.
It's also worth mentioning that Rail Vision is in a healthy cash position too. Having ended 2023 with around $3m in the bank, the combination of January’s private placement issuance and the exercise of share warrants provided another $8m, meaning that even without taking revenue into account, the company already has the cash in hand to continue its current rate of investment into R&D and growth.
Backers and Market Context
Two macro market trends come into play for Rail Vision: the ever-increasing demand for more rail capacity and efficiency, given rising populations and growing environmental concerns, and the steady AI-ification of everything in the age of ChatGPT. Rail Vision has strategic investors on both sides. On the AI side, they’re 10% owned by Foresight Autonomous Holdings (FRSX), while the railway world is represented by Knorr-Bremse (KBX), a venerable Germany rail company that’s been around for more than a century.
Rail Vision is approaching a legacy, market with innovative technology, and has the strategic relationships to leverage on both sides. With the path opening up to start pursuing contracts in the EU and India alongside its existing deal-flow in the US and Middle East, Rail Vision is on track to start growing into an enormous market. At the same time, it’s often bracketed together with other AI and computer vision companies, some of which are servicing nascent industries that are far less large and established. That means that Rail Vision stands to benefit from the hype of the AI narrative, even though it’s not dependent upon it for traction – an appealing hybrid play combining long-term economic needs with the potential frothiness of an AI tech company.
Conclusion
Fundamentally, Rail Vision presents multiple appealing characteristics for a potential multibagger. The company isn’t quite pre-revenue, but its sales figures look set for a step change; it has the cash and strategic backers to execute its plan, and it’s opening up new potential markets across the world. For a long-term play, the current stock price looks like an incredibly attractive entry point. If you’ve got a shorter time horizon though, don’t discount it – there’s also scope for the price to be rapidly driven up by sentiment or major news, as has happened multiple times since the company floated.
To make the obvious joke: this is a high-speed train that looks likely to depart sooner rather than later. I’d suggest getting on board while you can…

Today (June 9th) citizens of 🇧🇬 Bulgaria go to polls to vote in parliamentary elections… AGAIN. These are sixth parliamentary elections in Bulgaria in 3 years, after another failure to form a stable government majority. This time, voting is combined with 🇪🇺 European Parliament elections.
If you are interested, here is a link to our previous thread, you can find link to earlier ones further in the post.
Bulgarian parliament (unicameral Narodno Săbranie) consists of 240 members (121 needed for majority), elected by closed list proportional representation from 31 multi-member constituencies, with 4% electoral threshold, for a 4-year term.
Relevant parties or alliances taking part in the elections are:

Doncaster Rovers to Glory - Part 2
Welcome to part 2 of my Doncaster save! If you missed Part 1, I'll link it here https://www.reddit.com/seriousfifacareers/comments/1cy5zjm/doncaster_rovers_to_glory_part_1/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button
We're back for Part 2!
So last time out, we reached mid November. We had a decent start to the season, being in 6th place after 17 games and we had 2 cup ties, in the fa cup against an unconfirmed opponent and in Round 2 of the Bristol Street Motors Trophy against Grimsby. Before we look at how we got on in these fixtures though, we turn our attention to the January business.
Nathan Butler-Oyedeji signed from Arsenal on a short-term loan
Unsurprisingly, a few of our loanees were recalled by their parent clubs. Matthew Craig returned to Tottenham after some underwhelming performances at Centre-Back, and Billy Waters returned to fellow League 2 side Wrexham after only managing 5 appearances. However, the biggest surprise was Bolton's decision to recall Conor Carty, who managed 13 goal contributions during his time at the club. This left us short up front, so we signed 21 year old Striker Nathan Butler-Oyedeji on a short-term loan deal from Arsenal. We also made a free signing. With Jon Taylor confirming he won't renew his contract, we agreed terms to bring in Irish winger Dylan Connolly on a pre-contract deal from Bohemians. However, he joined up with the club (Unexpectedly) on 1st January. Apart from that, it was a quiet window. We did sell a few academy players, selling 4 for a combined £745,000. We do have a few pre-contract deals for next season (which I won't reveal until Part 4) and we have a few players going on a free at the end of this season, which I'll go into more detail later. Now let's see how Doncaster have faired from where we last saw them in November.
Doncaster have shown some good form, sitting 2nd with 10 games to go
We have now reached March 12th and Doncaster are in a very good position to get promoted to League 1. The Rovers sit 2nd in the league, 7 points clear of 4th place Stockport, with 10 games left. It started off very poor, with Doncaster losing 5 league games in a row from a 7-4 defeat against Swindon on 21st November until a 4-0 loss to Tranmere on 16th December. This caused them to slip down the table, going as low as 10th. However, since then, Doncaster have won 11 out of 13 games and stormed up the league. The last 10 games won't be easy, with games against Notts County, Bradford, Mansfield and Wrexham still to come. If Doncaster keep up their impressive form, that 2nd last game of the season against Wrexham could very well be a title decider. We will see how they get on soon. Now let's turn our attention to the cup competitions, starting with the fa cup
We made it to the 3rd round, putting in an admirable performance away at Middlesbrough
We were drawn against fellow League 2 side Tranmere in Round 2, and managed to achieve a 4-3 victory, which is impressive considering they would beat us 4-0 in the league a few weeks later. The Rovers were full of optimism when drawn against Middlesbrough in the 3rd round, and would've been overjoyed when new loan signing Nathan Butler-Oyedeji scored a hat-trick in the first half to put Doncaster 3-0 up. However, Middlesbrough managed to catch up and then beat us comfortably in the replay. The lads did themselves proud and everyone (except the board, thanks again EA) will be happy with how we performed.
Oxford haunting us in the Bristol Street Motors Trophy
In the Bristol Street Motors Trophy, we scraped past Grimsby in the 2nd Round, obtaining a narrow 5-4 win. However, the Round of 16 draw wasn't very kind, putting us against the same Oxford team that beat us in the group stage. Unsurprisingly, we couldn't handle them and lost again. Aliman Walid will be hoping to get revenge on the U's if Doncaster get promoted to League One next season (and if Oxford don't get promoted)
Squad stats - March 2024
Aliman Walid has pleased the board so far in terms of what they're expecting him to achieve this season. The promotion fight is exactly what they were hoping for and gaining automatic promotion would be an even greater accomplishment. In terms of his financial objective, the small fire sale of youth prospects in January has amassed to 17% of what the board were hoping to achieve. With a number of decent players currently in the academy, this number will likely rise next season. Aliman also has to choose 1 academy player to play 50% of games next season, which he is not short of options for. Finally, avoiding defeat against Tranmere will be crucial for the Brand Exposure objective, which is to avoid defeat in 5 consecutive home games. Failure to do so will mean Doncaster will need to win their last 5 home games, including the games against Mansfield and Wrexham.
There is a clear favourite in goal
Looking at the squad, Lo-Tutala has kept his starting place in goal. Louis Jones has somewhat restored his reputation at the club and racked up a few appearances. Ian Lawlor however doesn't like sitting on the bench and has handed in a transfer request. Therefore, he hasn't played a single game since the last part. Also, there is still no clean sheet at all for the goalkeepers. Will they get 1 before the end of the season?
Competition at both Full Back positions
In Defence, Olowu and Bailey have kept their partnership going strong at the Centre Back spots. Richard Wood and Jay McGrath have managed to get a number of appearances but Tom Anderson has struggled to get any gametime lately. Left Back and Right Back are much more contested though. On the left, competition has remained fierce between James Maxwell and Jack Senior with both players getting a fair share of minutes. The same can also be said recently for Right Back, where Jamie Sterry has improved and is pushing Tom Nixon for minutes.
Dylan Connolly has struggled to make an impact
Harrison Biggins has worked his way back into the team with some impressive performances, being rotated regularly with Zain Westbrooke and Ben Close. Despite this, he will be leaving at the end of the season alongside veteran Tommy Rowe. George Broadbent has had a disappointing season, struggling to break into the team. On the left side of midfield, the situation has remained the same. Habeeb Adelakun is the main starter and Kyle Hurst the dependable understudy. It will be interesting to see what happens at the end of the season with Adelakun returning to Lincoln. On the right side, Molyneux has remained the strong favourite, making the joint-most appearances for the club this season. However, the battle for the understudy has taken an unexpected twist, as new signing Dylan Connolly has struggled so far, and Jon Taylor has come into some good form of late, grabbing a few unlikely goal contributions and pushing Connolly to 3rd choice.
The strikers are just insane, especially Miller
George Miller has 65 goal contributions this season. The best player in the league and we'll be fortunate to keep him next season. Joe Ironside has also shown some impressive performances and knows how to get the crowd going. Maxime Biamou can make an impact off the bench and Nathan Butler-Oyedeji has already made his mark, especially after that Middlesbrough fa cup game. Sometimes, it's easy to forget that Caolan Lavery is at the club, but he won't be for much longer as he'll be moving on once his contract expires.
Current Team Lineup
That's all for Part 2! Will Doncaster go up? Will they finally get a clean sheet? Will Caolan Lavery actually do anything? Find out in Part 3 which will be coming out very soon! Hope you enjoyed reading through.

2024.06.09 14:33 LastWeekInCollapse Last Week in Collapse: June 2-8, 2024

The heat and the pressure are on—for our planet, and for one more World War.
Last Week in Collapse: June 2-8, 2024
This is Last Week in Collapse, a weekly newsletter compiling some of the most important, timely, useful, soul-crushing, ironic, stunning, exhausting, or otherwise must-see/can’t-look-away moments in Collapse.
This is the 128th newsletter. You can find the May 26-June edition here if you missed it last week. You can also receive these posts (with images) every Sunday in your email inbox with Substack.
——————————
Bengaluru broke a 133-year rain record by almost 10mm last Sunday, with 111mm (4.37 inches) of rain falling in a single day. In Sri Lanka, some 24,000 people were displaced by recent flooding. A heat wave swept through the southwest United States and northern Mexico. Part of Niger already broke its June temperature record. Parts of New South Wales, Australia broke nighttime temperatures as well; so did the Philippines, and Vietnam. And a heat wave in Greece.
Atmospheric blocking” happens when regions of the atmosphere remain stationary for days or weeks, imposing similar weather on a region for a while. A study released in Nature Communications looked at Svalbard, which is warming faster than the Arctic, which is itself warming faster than most of the rest of the planet. The researchers claim that atmospheric blocking has resulted in warmer & wetter conditions in Svalbard, which is driving its ice loss. “The augmented blocking in the Ural and Scandinavian regions in the future combined with the projected declines in sea ice, and increases in sea surface temperatures and moisture availability, will likely increase the magnitude and frequency of exceptional rainfall incidents similar to the 2016 occurrence, posing further hazards to the population and ecosystems in Svalbard.”
A paywalled study in Nature Climate Change emphasizes “in the absence of a global tipping point there is no safety margin within which permafrost loss would be acceptable.” The summary states that permafrost melt does not have a worldwide tipping point, but rather several local temperature thresholds. Permafrost worldwide is expected to be all melted once global temperature gains hit 5 or 6 °C.
We are currently in the brief neutral period between El Niño and La Niña, expected to begin around August. Meteorologists expect temperatures in the eastern Pacific to decline for between 1 and 3 years—and for stronger Atlantic hurricanes. A 14-page report from the WMO forecasts a particularly wet summer for Central America.
Monsoon storms in Sri Lanka killed 14, mostly by falling trees, though others drowned or were covered by landslides. Texas saw “canteloupe-size hail” fall during a freak tornado; some think it is a record size for the region. Experts say some 23% of Africa’s land has been degraded, by five major factors: 1) invasive species, 2) climate change, including Drought and flooding, 3) resource extraction, 4) deforestation, and 5) pollution, including algal blooms. Poverty, population growth, and resource dependencies have aggravated the problem, says the article.
In Kashmir, a glacier Collapsed, sending three plunging into the ice, one of whom has still not been found. In the Philippines, a volcanic mud landslide swept into a village; volcano alerts were raised to 2 (on a 0-5 scale). Rising sea levels are displacing residents of one of Panama’s islands (pop: ~1,200); others will follow. Greece is gearing up for a fierce wildfire season ahead. And, in a moment of hopeful news, Sweden is banning bottom trawling in its “marine protected areas.”
In the EU, early polling appears to show a “greenlash,”, a backlash to the Green Alliance—and perhaps a loss of some 30% of their 72 current seats in the EU Parliament (705 total). Some blame the “moral superiority complex” of Greens, while others believe it is their lack of compromise on important issues. Farmer protests also damaged Green sentiment; now future sweeping climate reforms will probably have to wait years to get passed, since conservatives are expected to make gains. Most results will emerge within 24 hours of this post.
Worldwide, 39% of environmental journalists have faced threats due to their reporting—according to a 112-page report by the Earth Journalism Network. Most of the threats came to reporters writing about illegal extraction operations.
Roughly 20% of sealife near the surface is expected to face a “triple threat” of climate hazards: extreme heat, oxygen loss and acidification. Some of these species will die in place; others will be forced into progressively smaller living spaces. Most of the danger lies in the northern Pacific. The full study in AGU Advances has more.
The UN Secretary-General announced that we are on the “highway to climate hell.” And we aren’t wearing any seatbelts. The EU Copernicus Programme says last May was the hottest on record. This means the last 12 months were the hottest on record, with each consecutive month setting a new monthly record. Our planet is supposedly on the edge of 1.5 °C temperature increase, but some think we’ve already surpassed it.
The World Meteorological Organization (WMO) released a 27-page report, “Global Annual to Decadal Climate Update 2024-2028,” predicting short-term temperatures exceeding the 1.5 °C mark.
“The global mean near-surface temperature for each year between 2024 and 2028 is predicted to be between 1.1°C and 1.9°C higher than the average over the years 1850-1900. It is likely (80% chance) that global mean near-surface temperature will exceed 1.5°C above the 1850-1900 average levels for at least one year between 2024 and 2028. It is about as likely as not (47%) that the five-year mean will exceed this threshold….Arctic warming over the next five extended winters (November to March), relative to the average of the 1991-2020 period, is predicted to be more than three times as large as the warming in global mean temperature. Predicted precipitation patterns for 2024, relative to the 1991-2020 average, suggest an increased chance of low rainfall over North-East Brazil and an increased chance of wet conditions in the African Sahel, consistent with the warmer-than-usual temperatures in the North Atlantic….
The Yale Center for Environmental Law & Policy released its 2024 Environmental Policy Index, and the 204 pages illustrate the state of sustainability in 180 countries, according to 58 indicators. The document, full of useful graphics and accessible summaries, presents a world in escalating danger of global heating, pollution, and biodiversity loss. It is well worth skimming. These kinds of climate reports usually seem to me like, overall, much more time was spent making them than people spend reading them…
“Only five countries — Estonia, Finland, Greece, Timor-Leste, and the United Kingdom — cut their GHG emissions at the rate needed to reach zero by 2050….After climate change, biodiversity loss has emerged as the most serious and irreversible environmental crisis….As of 2022, aggregated GHG emissions were falling in 60 countries but still rising in 128…. Human activities, namely the combustion of fossil fuels, of which CO2 is an inevitable byproduct, have caused a nearly 50 percent of the increase in CO2 levels in the atmosphere since the industrial revolution, with atmospheric concentration surpassing 426 parts per million in April 2024 — a level higher than at any point in human history….China, the United States, and India are pivotal, accounting for over half of global GHG emissions…China used more cement in two years (2020 and 2021) than the United States did in the entire twentieth century….Air pollution remains the most serious environmental threat to public health. Long-term exposure to fine particulate matter less than 2.5 µm in diameter (PM2.5) caused 7.8 million premature deaths in 2021, close to 12 percent of global deaths…” -selections from the first third of the report

Mexico saw its first human case of a bird flu strain, H5N2, in a dead man supposedly with no known previous exposure to animals. Two turkey farms got outbreaks in Minnesota, and Iowa’s first dairy farm reported bird flu as well. American health authorities expect H5N1 human cases to rise in the coming weeks. Bird flu was also found in San Francisco last week. Millions of human vaccine doses for bird flu are being prepared for the United States this summer.
Citigroup says the United States is already in a recession, though other institutions disagree. Nevertheless, junk bonds are becoming even more junky, and economists agree that the economy is at least slowing down. Credit card debt is reportedly rising, and the “personal savings rate” has dropped to pre-COVID levels. “America’s debt accumulation over the last seven years is akin to the costs of a world war,” says the article. Cuts to the Federal Reserve interest rate are coming, and the rise of tariffs is unlikely to stop soon. And Europe’s strongest economy, Germany, is not seeing a strong recovery from last year’s recession.
Thousands are starving in Ethiopia’s Tigray region, where Drought and school dropouts have also worsened. Investigators claim in a new report that both sides in the Tigray War committed grave war crimes and “acts of genocide” in the conflict, which ended (on paper, anyway) in November 2022; intercommunal violence continues at a lower intensity.
The American Heart Association released a report projecting the rates of heart illnesses by 2050, and they believe the rate of hypertension among adults will rise from about 51% in 2020 to 61% in 2060. Diabetes rates are expected to jump from about 16% in 2020 to almost 27% in 2050; and obesity rates will expand 17% to over 60%... A number of other heart conditions are expected to worsen as well, though at least high cholesterol rates are expected to decrease.
A 12-page report by Oil Change International says what we all know: most nations are failing to meet climate targets. “Some G7 countries are massively expanding fossil fuel production at home, while others are investing in more fossil fuel infrastructure abroad.” China is, far and away, adding more renewable energy capacity than any other nations on earth, supposedly adding “over 90% of all renewable capacity mentioned in NDCs {nationally determined contributions}” in the 2020s so far.
The U.S. FDA has unanimously recommended a new vaccine be developed to address the JN.1 COVID variant. Vaccine-manufacturers say that a new vaccine could arrive as early as mid-August. A 242-page prepublication report on the long-term dangers of Long COVID, with a view to planning future impacts on Social Security.
“Even individuals with a mild initial course of illness can develop Long COVID with severe health effects….Women are twice as likely as men to experience Long COVID….Long COVID can cause more than 200 symptoms and affects each person differently….There currently is no curative treatment for Long COVID itself. Management of the condition is based on current knowledge about treating the associated health effects and other sequelae….Long COVID symptoms generally improve over time, although preliminary studies suggest that recover can plateau 6-12 months after acute infection. Studies have shown that only 18-22 percent of those who have persistent symptoms at 5-6 months following infection have fully recovered by 1 year. Among those who do not improve, most remain stable, but some worsen.” -selections from the study summary
Germany reported African swine flu in some pigs in the northeast. Monkeypox cases remain in the United States, and at higher rates than last year, despite waning media coverage. And four strains of dengue fever, yes four, are still sweeping through Brazil with no end in sight.
A number of current & former employees at OpenAI are warning of the careless pursuit of dominance of the artificial intelligence arena—and the supposed 70% chance that AI could bring about “doom” for humanity. Some of the computer scientists believe that a general intelligence (AGI) could arrive as soon as 2027—a generation earlier than previous estimates of roughly 2050. "The world isn’t ready, and we aren’t ready," said one dissenting researcher.

The intervention into Haiti is almost ready to go, but gangsters in Haiti have escalated attacks against police in advance of the Kenya-led operation, set to begin in a week or two. “The gangs are just waiting for the Kenyans, they’re just cracking their knuckles and stretching out.…It’s going to be a battle if not a bloodbath of a war, because the gangs are ready,” said one ex-diplomat. A new PM has been installed, Garry Conille, a guy who previously served as PM for 4 about months in 2011-2012. Gangs vying for power control roughly 80% of Port-Au-Prince; will they remain fragmented upon the arrival of an outside coalition, or make an alliance of convenience to oppose police intervention?
Although New Caledonia’s state of emergency has ended, over $1B of damage has been wrought by rioters opposing an expansion of voting rights. Analysts say that the Pacific island’s abundant nickel reserves—essential for France’s renewable energy push—have seen their extraction obstructed by recent events. A curfew remains in place, and social cohesion has been seriously damaged by the protests and the central government’s reactions.
President Biden issued new orders restricting the flow of migrants and asylum-seekers at the Mexico border. At the U.S./Canada border, migrant arrivals have spiked 1000%+ in the last 3 years. Days before the EU election, Portugal instituted stronger controls over immigration. On the Poland/Belarus border, a Polish soldier died, after being stabbed by a migrant from Belarus.
Georgia’s controversial foreign agents bill has been signed into law despite strong protests from the masses. Some call the law a form of Russian hybrid warfare, though Russia contends that allowing foreign media funding functions as a kind of anti-Russian hybrid warfare on its own.
South Korea suspended a military agreement with North Korea over their waste balloons sent into the South. This will result in a more militarized border, outside the DMZ, in the coming months. President Putin is also planning a visit to Pyongyang, which has been long-supplying materiel to Russia for use in Ukraine. A border clash between Chinese and Indian forces took place in their contested mountains—using only sticks and stones.
Conditions in Gaza are said to be “beyond crisis levels” for the 1M+ people who have been displaced from Rafah, as the Israeli advance continues—despite calls from the ICJ to halt the operation. “The sounds, the smells, the everyday life, are horrific and apocalyptic,” said one observer. Killings in the West Bank have now exceeded 500 since October 7, and aid deliveries have sunk 65%+ since the Rafah offensive began. A strike on a school killed 45 people sheltering there, according to Gaza officials. In the coastal settlement of al-Mawasi, where many IDPs moved after the Rafah invasion began, toilets are so scarce that over 4,000 people share a single latrine.
The battlefield is expanding; in some ways, it has always been all-encompassing, and it’s only now that the world is re-learning it. Ukraine has sent soldiers to Syria to fight Wagner Group mercenaries operating in the failed state. Ukraine had earlier intervened in Sudan to combat Russian forces operating in the country. Ukraine also struck an air defense unit inside Russia for the first time, marking another escalation in the War. Russia struck Ukraine’s largest hydroelectric power plant in Dnipro, which is now in “critical condition.” Russia reportedly intends to restart the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant at some point, though international regulators argue that it would be unsafe to turn Europe’s largest nuclear facility online while War still rages around it. Half of Ukraine’s electrical generation has been taken offline. Although weapons are reaching Ukraine’s frontlines, they are not enough to change the tide of the War—and are still outnumbered by Russian soldiers & munitions. Ukraine is also crowd-sourcing 3D-printing drone parts to support their drone fleets—a key part of future modern warfare.
Russia also claims that French military instructors within Ukraine present a lawful military target for Russian forces—and an opportunity to start WWIII. But others believe the flashpoint may come from elsewhere—Taiwan, or the unfolding Israel/Hamas/Hezbollah/Iran conflict, which are intensifying on the Lebanon/Israel border. Russia is also taking over Niger’s uranium reserves, once held by a French corporation. And four Russian sea vessels will be visiting Cuba—but not carrying nuclear weapons.
Around Sudan’s capital, looters, checkpoints, and violence have been established. Several torture chambers have been discovered, and the smell of death hangs in the air of a few neighborhoods, contested by both sides. The number of displaced people is approaching 10M. Russia is supposedly playing both sides to its advantage. “All over Sudan, people are going hungry because they have lost everything, the economy has collapsed, and armed men frequently steal what little aid is available,” said one reporter. The insurgent RSF forces are said to not only be fighting for the future, but fighting over history as well. The National Museum has become a cemetery for RSF fighters. University archives have been burned. And ancient artifacts have been cleared out, sold to mysterious buyers, stashed away in unknown places, or simply destroyed… Other horror stories are still emerging; this article details some of the worst recent tales in the War.
One major NATO supplies provider claims that a decade of arms accumulation is coming, to replenish stockpiles given to Ukraine and in advance of a potential open War between China and whatever western nations decide to participate. China announced its intention to detain vessels moving into its alleged national waters near the Philippines—and presumably to sink those which resist. Ukraine used up six years’ worth of shoulder-fired missiles, like javelins, in just one year. The development of the F-35 will exceed $2T, although the U.S. military is planning on using it less than previously expected. NATO is also planning its rapid-transit troop corridors through Europe to the expected frontlines of a potential open War against Russia.

-It is a common refrain that the education system is a bellwether for Collapse. It is also a symbol—alongside our food system, plastic dependency, state militaries, and many other institutions—of how difficult it apparently is to change course. The institutional friction and incentives are burnt in. This detailed post on the (American) school system and the “metacrisis” and much more. Several thorough comments build on the OP’s thesis. “Uh oh,” Ray said just loud enough for the rest of the squad to hear. “Contacts moving across our eleven, ten meters out. No, don’t everyone look, or you’ll attract their attention.”
“What is it?” Kayla asked apprehensively. “Helvets?”
“Worse. Forest battalion. Those bitches got the same leave block, and they think they’re going to move in on our action. Freakin’ teddy bear lovers.”
Around the table, the other girls murmured their agreement that Forest battalion was indeed the home of sloppy Rangers with an unhealthy fascination for teddy bears. The Mountain Ranger battalion held it to be a matter of incontestable truth. Though Kayla had neither heard any logical explanation for, nor seen any evidence of the obsession, she nevertheless accepted the claim with the same conviction that the sun would rise, or that morning PT took place at six a.m.
The bar in downtown Zula was becoming more crowded as the night progressed, and while Kayla was happy to chat with the same people she spent every waking moment with, she was beginning to long for a little of the inebriated flirting she had been promised. They had all dressed in their finest, and she, after some discussion with Thandi, had settled on a dark maroon dress that everyone assured her was gorgeous.
Across the room, a group of cool-eyed young women had taken over a table, and were preparing to order drinks.
“I’m gonna go assault through the ambush,” Ray said, and pushed back from the table. She strode confidently over to the offenders and launched into a spirited debate with them.
Lyna beamed at Jess. “So, the rules are that any man, woman, or farm animal that you approach first is yours for the duration of the evening. Do not approach anyone who has already been approached by another Soror, because there will be substantial negative consequences.”
Jess’s apprehensive smile flattened. “What kind of—”
“Getting thrown out of a plane without a parachute is a common punishment for trying to steal another girl’s date, regardless of unit,” Lyna said. “No, I am not kidding.”
Kayla squeezed her arm. “Don’t worry it’s less painful the second time you do it.”
“Really?”
Kayla chuckled. “No, I’m kidding. I haven’t actually done it twice.”
“But anyway,” Lyna continued, “let us know if a girl is messing with you or your date. That’s a squad level response protocol, and it starts with spiking the drinks of those responsible. Also not a joke.” She smiled evilly, and tapped at her handbag.
“But what about…” Jess glanced around carefully, “civilians?”
“Weapons free,” Kayla said, then caught Thandi’s eye. “Metaphorically speaking. Don’t start a fight. Call for support as needed.”
“Pick someone you like,” Tian said, “then me and Kayla will set you up. I’ll be the ugly duckling, and Kayla can be queen bitch.”
Kayla smiled grimly. “I guess it’s my talent.”
“Okay then,” Jess said and began to discreetly examine the room.
Ray rejoined them, with a happy expression. “They will stand down until we’ve had our fun,” she explained.
“How did you sell that?” Lyna asked.
“I just explained we had the infamous Kayla Barnes with us.”
“Ray, for Christ’s sake!” Kayla groaned, then caught Thandi’s eye again. “Sorry.”
“I’m kidding,” Ray reassured her. “I said we’d been deployed for two months, and they were very understanding. Word about our goat rope has gotten around.”
Bibi sighed. “All we do is gossip. It’s so disheartening.”
***
Gaz eyed the occupants of the bar as he stepped inside. It had the smoky air typical of colonist dives, and the music was toned down enough that people could actually talk to each other. No doubt that was why his contact had chosen the place. Businessmen of all kinds converged on Caldera’s smaller towns to make deals free from the meddlesome and watchful eyes of the League’s Adjudicate enforcers. Then there would be the adventurers out to explore the final frontier, prospectors looking to exploit it, and good old-fashioned smugglers. It was a crowd of nobodies, and everybody respected that.
In a quiet corner, he spotted a man in a leather jacket with a racing league logo. His contact. Gaz bought himself a drink, then wandered over. When he sat down, the heavy set, portly man lit a cigarette and glanced nervously around the bar.
“Take it easy,” Gaz said. “You’re not in the League’s social network anymore. This is the wildlands.”
“I don’t think there are any more wildlands, fella,” the man said.
“What do I call you?”
“I’ll go with Kite for the time being.”
Gaz managed to restrain his laughter, but he couldn’t keep a smile from breaking out on his face. Kite glared at him.
“Like the racing team?” Gaz asked. “I guess you’re a fanboy?”
“I happen to think that a dozen galaxy championships merits respect,” Kite insisted.
“Sorry, you’re right. You can call me Gaz, by the way.”
“I know who you are. Everyone around here is talking about marines in town, up to no good. Do me a favor and keep things quiet, yeah? No point adding to your reputation.”
Gaz shrugged. “We try to be quiet, but it’s hard to control your reputation when you make so many enemies.”
“Maybe.” Kite paused and glared at him. “So…?”
Gaz nodded and reached into his jacket. He produced a small envelope and laid it on the table,
“Tier three ident,” he explained. “You can start a new life anywhere with that.”
Kite peeked inside, then snatched the thing away into a pocket. “Sounds good, because I will bloody well need it.”
A young woman laughed raucously across the bar. Both men glanced around and studied the party of friends for a moment.
“Cute, but harmless,” Gaz said. “So, let’s talk.”
He and Sanchez had spent the better part of a week watching the brothel on the outskirts of Rackeye, and confirmed the regular presence of a senior VennZech executive. But their security was strong, and there was no way to get a closer look. Gaz suggested they pay more attention to the shipyards, since they were infiltrated by cartels. Criminals meant greed, which meant someone would always be keen for extra cash, or a favor. And so, he asked around Zula and nearby towns, making it known that he had money and services to provide for information.
Active workers wouldn’t talk, but he had been hoping to find someone who had moved on, and maybe carried some guilt about his former life. That was how he had come across Kite.
“I worked in the port front office,” Kite explained, “managing the admin. I didn’t see or hear anything directly, you understand?”
“They wouldn’t be doing a good job if guys like you were getting suspicious,” Gaz said reassuringly.
He didn’t believe it. After four years of investigating human trafficking, he had never met anyone who would admit to seeing or hearing anything. Of course not—they had been paid a lot of money to be blind, deaf, and dumb. The guy made his skin crawl, but if Kite had information, Gaz had to hear him out.
“All I know,” Kite continued, “is that there was one part of the storage grounds which nobody was to go near, on the instructions of the manager. He said that VennZech were bringing through military shipments, and it was classified.”
“They make weapons. Sounds normal.”
“I know it was, because once in a while I was signing off with the Helvetic Army about some of those deliveries.”
Gaz shrugged. “Every starport in the world has a black zone. Doesn’t prove anything.”
“Except that the contract longshoremen would go in there.”
“These are connected guys?”
Kite shrugged. He obviously didn’t want to say. Talking about cartel business was a reliable way to end your days sooner than expected, especially if they were doing the dirty work of a mega-corporation.
Gaz decided to push a little further. “Were they local?”
“How should I know? I didn’t interact with them.”
“From Intaba?”
The split-second eye movement told Gaz what he needed to know, and he backed off.
“But military restriction means we can’t get anywhere near it,” he said disappointedly.
Kite nodded as he reached for his drink. “If you even try, I expect your bodies will end up in the river by the next morning.”
“I don’t think you’re being that helpful, Mr Kite.”
Kite chuckled. “Not for the game you want to play, no. But you said you wanted information. I got that in spades.”
Gaz brow furrowed. “But not on longshoreman? Do you have something on VennZech?”
“Sure, if you’re adding a sweetener on top of the ident.”
Gaz hesitated. How was this going to help him? The comings and goings of a major corporation would probably be useful to someone, but he had a specific focus. Three kids were still missing, and they weren’t likely to have been kept in a weapons shipment. Besides, Sanchez didn’t have a lot of money to spend.
On the other hand, they had no way into the shipyards, and maybe Kite’s information would lead to another vulnerability.
Gaz nodded. “20k into your ident’s account, then.”
“A couple of weeks ago,” Kite said, “they called in all hands to move a really big shipment. And it didn’t sit in the yard either. Went straight through. My old boss was begging me back for a one-time job. Huge bonus.”
“What kind of shipment?”
“No idea. But they wouldn’t let it sit in storage. Put every scheduled transfer on hold just for a dozen big containers off a freighter. My mate in traffic control told me there was no paperwork for the arrival either. VennZech just showed up one day making demands and throwing money around. An hour later, there was a vessel jumping into the system. Then, as soon as they were done, it jumped away.”
Gaz sighed. Probably nothing he could use. Though he might as well check one detail.
“I don’t suppose you were able to find out the port of origin?”
Kite sat back in his chair, and his smile twisted into a leery grin. “Intaba.”
Gaz felt his pulse quicken. There had to be a connection here. He pulled out his phone, and brought up a photo of the executive they had been tracking.
“The guy from VennZech calling the shots. This him?”
“Uh… Yup. Huh. Small world, isn’t it?”
Gaz dragged a few more minor details out of Kite before the man left. The whole story felt thin, but there had to be something to it. How it would help him track down his victims he had no idea, but he had often been surprised where seemingly unrelated threads could lead.
He went back to the bar, ordered another beer, and tried to think.
“Gawd,” drawled a female voice nearby. “Do you have to come in here stinking of the farms? Are colonists allergic to showers?”
Gaz looked round to see three of the young women he had seen earlier. The speaker, with a black ponytail and a dark red outfit, had challenged one of the men at the bar, while her friends watched, aghast. Probably a Helvet, looking to satisfy her adventurous side by visiting the rough side of the planet.
“Leave him alone Kayla,” another young woman complained. “You’re so mean sometimes.”
The ponytail wearer tilted her head away in disappointment, and Gaz knew immediately that she was putting on an act. Her accent seemed to be Calderan, and though she was doing a realistic impression of a stuck up Helvet, it wasn’t perfect. He watched as she waltzed back to her table with her drink, while her friends struck up a conversation with her victim.
She was setting her friend up, Gaz thought, and he didn’t bother to mask a smirk. They were an odd group at her table, all athletic, and carrying themselves with confidence. Most girls on a night out made a lot of noise, but though this group were drinking and having fun, their voices were muted. And occasionally, he noticed, one of them would sweep her eyes around the place, checking everything, but fixating on nothing. Scanning.
The girl with the ponytail glanced at him, and for a moment he was struck by her expression of determination. She might have been playing a role, but Gaz decided he would not want to give the game away and earn her wrath. He turned his eyes back to the bar.
“Hey, man,” a voice said over his shoulder, moments later.

Pollution and carbon emissions aren't pleasant for anyone, so here's a list of eco-friendly cities prioritizing nature and sustainable living.
Pollution and carbon emissions aren't friendly for anyone. So here's a list of cities that prioritize nature and sustainable living. No city is perfect, and many still have a long way to go before they can be considered truly sustainable.
However, these cities benefit both the people's quality of life and the conservation and protection of our planet and environment.
The sustainability of our planet is in jeopardy now more than ever before. This is due to the rising population and technological advancements that change how we live our lives.
Furthermore, It's becoming unpleasant, from the production of dangerous pollutants to the extradentary levels of waste.
Also, Governments and municipal governments worldwide feel the heat from their population—particularly Generation Z, who are well-known for campaigning for environmental reform.
And pressing countries to seek new methods to become more sustainable and address this global issue.
We've compiled a list of cities leading the way toward moving toward sustainable living and making the world a greener place. The world's greenest cities are listed below.

1. Copenhagen, Denmark

Copenhagen has been labeled the world's greenest city for various reasons. To start with, all of their buses are transitioning from diesel to electric power.
Furthermore, more of their roadways are being designed expressly for bicycling, and also, electric bikes are being supplied at a reasonable cost.
Again, another fascinating thing about Copenhagen is that two-thirds of its hotels are eco-certified, signifying that they adhere to the highest levels of sustainability in terms of energy, food, and design.
They also have vending machines that use recycled stuff and receive a deposit at many of their restaurants, and they sell cuisine made with organic ingredients in many of them.
By 2025, This beautiful Copenhagen city aspires to be carbon neutral. With all of these extraordinary achievements, it's difficult not to believe that this is one of the most eco-friendly cities globally.

2. Zurich, Switzerland

Here are some statistics demonstrating why Zurich is near the top of our world's most eco-friendly cities. It is interesting that renewable energy sources now account for more than 80% of their electricity. Also, over 40% of the garbage in the city is recycled.
Finally, almost 70% of their hotels are certified as sustainable. They have bikes all across the city, just like Copenhagen, giving them away. Zurich is undoubtedly a green city from which all other cities can learn.

3. Amsterdam, Nertherland

Amsterdam is innovative and environmentally conscious in areas other than its well-known "coffee cafes." It's known for having more bikes than people (bikes are piled on top of each other in the streets!), and it's also known as the world's most bicycle-friendly capital city.
Bicycling ensures a healthy population and dramatically cuts carbon emissions and pollution.

4. Bristol, UK

Bristol was the first British city designated as the European Green Capital. It's an honor bestowed upon a community for its efforts in addressing urban environmental concerns.
Furthermore, It is also known as the most environmentally friendly city in the United Kingdom. Bristol has good air quality, and the number of bikers on the road has increased.

5. Stockholm, Sweden

This site has done its fair share of modifications to assist its residents to live a more sustainable lifestyle, with 14 islands and more than 50 bridges.
The large city aims to phase out the use of fossil fuels by 2040 and is doing it by enacting new rules that promote a greener society – with European Union assistance to help it grow smarter.
Furthermore, bio-fuel, made from sewage waste and used to power automobiles throughout the city, is gaining popularity.
Stockholm is one of the eco-friendly cities. They are capable of repurposing any waste heat from its 30,000-seat stadium. Recovering heat might help warm over 1,000 flats more efficiently using sustainable ways.

6. Berlin, Germany

Berlin is a mad, wild city, but it's also known for its unconventional approach to environmental preservation.
Also, Berlin has more parks than any other European city, and it integrates green spaces nicely into the urban landscape.
Following World War I, inhabitants became far more self-sufficient and appreciated their green spaces than they had previously, learning to cultivate their food, a trend that has been handed down down the years.
Furthermore, with the advent of electric vehicles, Berlin has erected over 400 charging stations throughout the city, encouraging residents to consider switching vehicle types.
Moreover, locals do not perceive the necessity to own automobiles and instead choose to share to save the environment.

7. London, Uk

One of the significant factors contributing to London's eco-friendliness is the city's approximately 3,000 green spaces and parks, which account for 40% of the city's total area.
London is among the eco-friendly cities in the world. The IESE Cities in Motion Index 2020 classified the city as the most environmentally friendly globally. By 2050, London aspires to have zero greenhouse gas emissions.
They're putting money into hybrid diesel-electric buses. They expect that by 2037, all 9,200 of their buses will be emission-free.

8. Portland, Oregon

2024.06.09 12:37 AGGbliss Why $26 is the floor now

If a credible buyout offer is made on any stock at a price above the current trading price, the offer price becomes a floor and the market will rise to the offer price. Like when Musk offered $54.20 when Twitter was trading at $34. Twitter immediately went up to $54.20.
Kitty's calls are $20 plus premium of $5.68 per share. GME was trading at $17 to $22.50 the week before he posted his YOLO on that Sunday. (Some of us including me decided to start buying calls and shares at $20 on Tuesday, the day after Kitty started his buying. Thinking that it was him buying.) The price immediately shot to to $45 and has stayed above $25.68 which is the price that Kitty is paying for his shares when he exercises. Though this is a 5% buyout offer, we all know he is going to be left with $100,000,000 cash after selling these options and exercising for 5,000,000 more shares. If the price were to ever fall below $25.68 there are hundreds of thousands of people willing to buy at that price because it is clear that Kitty will be able to keep buying more and more at $25 and higher.
When there is a share offering the stock price has and will fall sharply down to the support level. This happened on Friday May 17 and it happened again Friday June 7. This should give us all confidence that it is safe to buy on the day of a share offering when the price crashes and then seems to stop crashing and stabilizes in a narrow range like we saw during Kitty's stream.
Kitty effectively has control of the minimum price of the stock moving forward. After June 21, if GME settles at $30 and Kitty buys 200,000 calls at a $35 strike, the price will never go below $30 $35 plus his premium. (Edit: After posting publically that he bought 200,000 calls at a $35 strike price.) That is why he is so chill about losing $200 million on stream.

2024.06.09 08:45 Visible_Window_5055 Why is there no new "big" online game that breaks the internet anymore

think of Counter Strike first, Minecraft from 2012-2015 (the rise era, its still popular), BR games in 2016-17-18 like PUBG, Fortnite, even Apex. Even in 2020 there was a surge where everyone was playing Fall guys or Among Us. Every streamer, youtuber was playing and making content. youtube would be so filled with videos of these games that it would straightup become annoying sometimes

🔗Fjallraven Abisko Lightweight, Quick-Drying Cap for Hiking

https://preview.redd.it/nc5yvezihh5d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0d653b09f5f793c1feb4a3233c2958b30a8b9221
When I first tried on the Fjallraven Abisko Hike Lite Cap, I felt the perfect blend of lightweight and sturdy. The cap was designed for outdoor hiking and trekking, making it a perfect choice for my adventurous nature. The stretchy fabric made it comfortable to wear while the adjustable strap allowed for a snug fit.
One of the standout features of this cap was its quick-drying ability. I found myself constantly sweating on hot summer hikes, and this cap easily absorbed the moisture and dried within minutes. The well-ventilated fabric kept my head cool and breathable, which was a big plus for me.
The cap's lightweight nature also made it easy to pack and carry without adding too much weight to my backpack. I loved that I could easily store it in my pocket when I didn't need it.
However, I did notice that the cap was not completely perfect. The logo on the front was a bit too small, making it less noticeable. Plus, the material was not as durable as I would have liked, with some fraying around the edge.
Overall, the Fjallraven Abisko Hike Lite Cap was a great choice for my outdoor adventures. Its lightweight and quick-drying capabilities made it perfect for hot summer days, and the comfortable fit made it an enjoyable addition to my outdoor gear. Though it had its flaws, the pros definitely outweighed the cons.

🔗Fjallraven Organic Trucker Cap with Mesh

https://preview.redd.it/cw9xmpfjhh5d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=137282a7bfcc9edad882f93be205e63941802d39
When I first tried on the Fjallraven Vardag Långtradarkeps trucker hat, I was immediately drawn to its comfortable fit and lightweight construction. Made from sustainable, organic materials and recycled polyester, this cap is perfect for both sunny hikes and everyday casual wear. The adjustable snapback feature allows for a customizable fit, and the mesh back provides excellent breathability during warmer activities.
One of the key highlights of this trucker hat is its sturdy G-1000 fabric, which gives it a modern, structured appearance while still maintaining a low-profile look. The classic Fjällräven logo on the front adds a touch of style, making it a fashionable and functional accessory for outdoor enthusiasts.
However, there are some downsides to this cap as well. I found that the sizing can be quite tricky for those with larger heads, as the size range only includes S/M and L/XL options. Unfortunately, the L/XL size didn't fit me as snugly as I would have liked, leaving me wishing for a more tailored fit. Additionally, the hat stains easily, which can be a drawback for those who want to maintain its appearance over time.
Despite these minor issues, overall I am quite satisfied with the Fjallraven Vardag Långtradarkeps trucker hat. Its combination of sustainable materials, comfortable design, and stylish appearance make it a worthy investment for anyone looking for a versatile and eco-friendly hat for their outdoor adventures.

🔗Fjallraven Tab Hat with Recycled Polyester and Organic Cotton

https://preview.redd.it/l9texvqjhh5d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2cd1d85afe59b1e8698628ea3afd1224f51fece8
The Fjallraven Classic Badge Cap is a stylish addition to any outdoor lover's wardrobe. Made from the durable G-1000 Eco fabric, which is a blend of recycled polyester and organic cotton, this hat provides both comfort and style. The iconic fox logo adds a retro summer camp vibe, and the adjustable buckle ensures a perfect fit for all.
However, those who prefer a full brim might find the flexibility a bit limiting. Nonetheless, this hat's hard-wearing nature and classic design make it a favorite among hikers and fashion enthusiasts alike.

🔗Fjallraven Urban Exchange Specialized Bucket Hat

https://preview.redd.it/5jns3r7khh5d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e36f5011ef7f1a7fa0918c1efdfaf053f5229f40
I recently came across the Specialized x Fjallraven Hat, a versatile piece that's perfect for my daily commute. The combination of 65% polyester and 35% cotton in this hat makes it lightweight and breathable, while the short, soft brim offers great protection against the sun without being too overwhelming.
One of my favorite aspects of this hat is its adjustability, as it's fitted to my head perfectly, and it won't budge even on the bumpiest of bike rides. The hat's style, inspired by a classic bucket hat, gives it a fun and sporty look that is suitable for both casual and biking activities.
Although I haven't had any issues with it so far, I noticed that its sweat-wicking mesh liner might not be the most effective – particularly in hot conditions or after a long ride. However, this has not stopped me from enjoying the comfy fit and casual feel of this Specialized x Fjallraven Hat.

🔗Fjallraven Tab Hat for Stylish Urban Cycling and Adventures

https://preview.redd.it/1e3to2dkhh5d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2db58e3d75eb2c3ba2c7505c643df0d88cbb5616
Sometimes, finding the perfect cap can be a challenge. However, after trying out the Specialized/Fjallraven Cap, I now know what it's like to have the ultimate urban riding and adventure companion.
Its soft and packable G-1000 Lite Eco Stretch fabric makes it easy to store when I'm not riding. The 180-degree reflective stripes not only look cool, but they also provide extra visibility when I head out on a night ride.
And the mesh sweatband keeps me comfortable while I push my limits. The co-branded logo on the front adds a touch of style.
Overall, this cap has become a trusted friend for both my daily commute and weekend adventures.

🔗Fjallraven Expedition Latt Cap - Lightweight, Warm, and Windproof

https://preview.redd.it/620helqkhh5d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=92ce2333b32eea863e662edfa5fa9d947b8636d9
I recently tried out the Fjallraven Expedition Latt Cap and I must say, it's a game-changer for those chilly winter mornings. The cap is both warm and lightweight, making it perfect for my outdoor adventures. The lined earmuffs provide excellent wind protection, and I appreciate the option to fold them away when the temperature rises. The soft fleece lining is a nice touch, adding a cozy touch to this cap.
However, there were a couple of minor drawbacks. The fit was a bit snug for my taste, and I wished there was an adjustable band so I could customize it to my preference. Additionally, I felt it was a bit too dark for my liking.
Despite these minor issues, I'm thoroughly impressed with its performance and durability. Fjallraven's commitment to producing high-quality, environmentally friendly products is evident in this cap. It's definitely a worthy addition to my winter wardrobe.

🔗Fjallraven Singi Trekking Cap: Durable and Versatile Adventure Gear

https://preview.redd.it/bx7ptt4lhh5d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b136e474d8ba1f130444b5839cd9bb04f979c9f9
I recently tried out the Fjallraven Singi Trekking Cap in black, and let me tell you, it's a game-changer for outdoor enthusiasts. Made of the robust G-1000 polyester cotton fabric, this cap perfectly balances protection from the sun and rain while also offering a comfortable fit. It's lightweight and versatile, making it perfect for any adventure, no matter the season.
One of my favorite features is the adjustment at the rear, allowing for a custom fit without any hassle. The folded leather logo adds a touch of class to the cap, showcasing the brand's pride in its product. The G-1000 fabric is truly remarkable, with its combination of polyester and cotton giving it both durability and breathability, while also ensuring wind and water resistance.
However, there are a couple of minor drawbacks worth mentioning. First, some users have mentioned sizing issues, so it's essential to measure your head carefully before making a purchase. Second, the cap may not be the best choice for individuals who need to wear their ponytail through the cap. Nonetheless, these issues do not detract from the overall quality and performance of this cap.
In conclusion, if you're looking for a high-quality, stylish, and practical cap for your outdoor adventures, the Fjallraven Singi Trekking Cap is a fantastic choice. It may not be the cheapest option, but for the price, it's worth every penny.

🔗Durable Fjallraven Eco-Friendly Tab Hat for S/M

https://preview.redd.it/dfx6x5glhh5d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ad9ef66747cf3dc14b263491f740930bb0806abb
As a hat lover, I was excited to try the Fjallraven 1960 Logo Langtradarkeps Cap. The blue color really popped, and the G-1000 HeavyDuty Eco material gave it a premium feel. The adjustable closure on the back made it perfect for my head size, and the logo on the front added a bit of style.
One feature that stood out was the material's eco-friendly nature, with 65% polyester and 35% organic cotton. The mesh on the sides and back made it breathable, allowing my head to stay cool and fresh even on hot days. However, I noticed some wear on the mesh after a few weeks of daily use.
Although the adjustable closure made it comfortable and easy to wear, I did find the size range a bit limited. I would have liked to see some options in between the S/M and L/XL sizes. This is a minor complaint, as the cap itself still fit well and looked great.
Overall, the Fjallraven 1960 Logo Langtradarkeps Cap was a comfortable, stylish, and eco-friendly option that I enjoyed wearing in my everyday life. Despite the limited size range and slight wear, I would still highly recommend this cap to others looking for a durable and fashionable option.

🔗Comfortable Waterproof Fjallraven Kiruna Sun Hat

https://preview.redd.it/92382qvlhh5d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=49a4c54da5b99fa59ea7a088061e0f81b995f0f3
The Fjallraven Kiruna Hat in Laurel Green L is a stylish and functional everyday hat that offers excellent protection from the sun and rain. The hat is made from durable and water-resistant G-1000 original fabric, making it perfect for outdoor activities.
One of the best features of this hat is its medium-wide, soft brim that provides all-round protection while still being foldable to fit in a pocket when not in use. The Fjallraven logo in leather adds a touch of elegance and durability to the hat.
I've had the pleasure of using this hat in my daily life, and I must say, it's been a game-changer. The material is of high quality, and the fit is just right. I've had no issues with wind or rain, and the hat has held up well despite the occasional use.
While the hat is generally well designed and comfortable, I did notice that it runs a bit loose for some users. I would recommend getting the size that is most suitable for your head to ensure the best fit. Additionally, the hat is a bit on the pricey side, but I believe the quality and functionality make it worth the investment.
Overall, I highly recommend the Fjallraven Kiruna Hat in Laurel Green L to anyone looking for a durable and stylish hat for their outdoor adventures.

🔗Fjallraven Ovik Knit Hat: Ethically Sourced Wool Tab with Ribbed Edge and Leather Logo

https://preview.redd.it/pxh2eobmhh5d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=36eec4eacd935f72798cc43eccdc4ddb3a8b83bb
I recently added the Ovik Knit Hat Navy to my daily rotation, and I must say, the experience has been quite pleasant. The hat's design is inspired by Fjällräven's popular Övik Knit Sweater, which really caught my eye - the patterned knitting adds a touch of personality to any outfit.
One of the key features that stood out to me is the high-quality wool used in this hat. It's not only cozy but also ethically and responsibly sourced, which is a big bonus. This winter-ready hat has a ribbed edge and a small leather logo on the side, adding an extra touch of style.
The fit of the hat is a bit snug, but I've come to understand that this is by design to provide better insulation. It may take a little getting used to, but once you do, you'll appreciate the warmth it provides. The hat's one-size-fits-all concept may not be perfect for everyone, so it's essential to consider your head size before purchasing.
Overall, the Ovik Knit Hat Navy is a stylish and warm addition to any winter wardrobe. The Fjällräven brand delivers another quality product, and I'm happy to have it in my collection. Just be prepared for a snug fit and keep in mind that it's not a traditional skull-cap fit. Other than that, it's a great pick for those chilly days.

🔗Insulated Wool Hat for Cold Days

I've fallen in love with the Fjallraven Tab Hat during my camping trips and hikes this winter. Folded over at the bottom, this hat allows for cozy warmth on colder days.
The classic ribbed style adds to the comfortable feel and the Arctic Fox logo on a leather patch adds a touch of style. The one-size-fits-all hat in Alpine Blue is both versatile and practical, keeping the chill off and fitting perfectly.
However, be cautious of accidentally shrinking the hat by putting it in the dryer, as it may become unwearable.

🔗Fjällräven Foldable Wool Beanie - 1960 Logo

Last winter, I found myself in need of a warm, durable beanie for my daily commute. I spotted the Fjallraven 1960 Logo Hat and decided to give it a go. The first thing I noticed about this beanie was its timeless design and elegant chalk white color. It was a stylish addition to my winter outfits, perfect for both men and women.
What stood out to me was the high-quality, ethically produced wool used in making this beanie. Not only did it provide delightful warmth, but it also felt sustainable and traceable. The foldable edge offered extra protection, while the double-layered knitted construction provided even more insulation. The iconic Fjallraven emblem on the front added a touch of class.
However, there were a couple of drawbacks to this beanie. Firstly, the tag seemed to be a bit tricky to remove, and I had to cut it off using a seam ripper. While it might seem silly, it was frustrating, especially considering the brand's reputation for quality. Secondly, one reviewer mentioned that the hat was a bit thicker and bulkier than expected, which might not be ideal for some people.
Overall, my experience with the Fjallraven 1960 Logo Hat was mostly positive. It offered comfort, style, and warmth, making it a great addition to my winter wardrobe.

🔗Fjallraven Singi Field Cap: Ear Flap Tour Hat with Fleece Lining (Black)

https://preview.redd.it/r5aotvgnhh5d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3e324e636dcd27e88be0290d55f9a26a9a93bc92
My experience with this Fjallraven Singi Field Cap was truly a delight. The polyester and cotton blend give this cap a soft and warm feeling, perfect for those chilly winter days. The ventilating properties of the water-resistant G-1000 fabric helped to keep my head dry from sweat, while the fleece lining made sure I was comfortably warm.
One of the most noteworthy features of this cap was the inbuilt wire that allowed me to shape the brim. This not only made it sturdier but also made it easy to stow away in my pocket when I wasn't wearing it. The ear flaps were a great addition, especially in windy conditions, and the elastic closure on the back ensured the cap stayed firmly on my head. The black color gave the cap a sleek look and paired perfectly with my outdoor camping gear. Overall, it was an excellent cap that I have continued to use whenever I'm out there enjoying the beautiful outdoors.

🔗Eco-Friendly Fjallraven G-1000 Tab Hat with Embroidered Badge

Recently, I had the chance to sport the Fjallraven Badge Langtradarkeps Cap. It's like bringing a cool, comfortable companion along for any adventure. This cap, standing out in my collection, is perfect for those balmy days and chilly nights alike. The Fjallraven brand, known for producing eco-friendly, durable goods, has outdone itself with this cap.
This cap is all about the balance; it's got this classic, cool vibe with a high-rise front, and yet it's got this mesh back that keeps air circulating. I'm a fan of the embroidered badge design in an eco-poly blend - it's both functional and stylish.
As for sizing, it's just right, offering a snug fit thanks to the adjustable snap closure at the back. The cap sits neatly on my head, avoiding any slips. However, one drawback is that it might be a bit too large for some users, so sizing down could be a good option.
Overall, it's a hat I wouldn't leave home without. Even when it was put through some rought handling, it held its shape nicely. Not forgetting the compliments it garners, it always turns heads in a good way.
From the brand known for quality, this Fjallraven Badge Langtradarkeps Cap is a winner in my books. Yet its not without the potential small issues. But for me, it's a hat with more pros than cons, making every stroll more comfortable and trendy.

Buyer's Guide

Fjallraven Tab Hats are a popular outdoor accessory designed to provide comfort and protection during your adventures. These hats are known for their high-quality materials, durability, and stylish design. In this buyer's guide, we will discuss the essential features, considerations, and advice to help you make an informed decision when purchasing a Fjallraven Tab Hat.

Materials and Durability

https://preview.redd.it/ggzrataphh5d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=773b16d1b9123c978369c003b59b706c7672dfa3
Fjallraven Tab Hats are made from high-quality materials that ensure longevity and resistance to wear and tear. The most common materials used are G-1000 (polyester) and G-1000 Eco (organic polyester). G-1000 hats have a waxed finish, which makes them water-resistant and easy to care for. G-1000 Eco hats, on the other hand, have a more environmentally friendly finish. It is essential to consider the material you prefer when purchasing a Fjallraven Tab Hat.

Size and Fit

Fjallraven Tab Hats come in various sizes to ensure a proper fit for different head shapes and sizes. Measure your head circumference (just above your eyebrows) to determine the right size for you. Most Tab Hats are adjustable, allowing you to tighten or loosen the hat to achieve the perfect fit. Be sure to check the product specifications or size chart provided by the manufacturer to find the best fit for you.

Design Features

Fjallraven Tab Hats have several design features that make them functional and stylish. These hats often have drawstrings or other adjustable features to ensure a snug fit and protection from the elements. Some hats also feature a brim that can be folded down to provide additional sun protection or a casual look.

Functionality in Different Weather Conditions

Fjallraven Tab Hats are versatile and can be used in various weather conditions. The water-resistant G-1000 material helps keep your head dry during rainfall or moisture buildup. However, these hats are not designed to protect against extreme cold or heavy snowfall. Consider the climate you will be using the hat in and choose the appropriate materials and design for your needs.

Care and Maintenance

To ensure the longevity of your Fjallraven Tab Hat, proper care and maintenance are essential. The G-1000 material should be cleaned with a soft cloth and mild soap. Waterproofing the hat with a suitable wax or treatment may be necessary to maintain its water-resistant properties. Follow the manufacturer's care instructions to extend the life of your Fjallraven Tab Hat.
Fjallraven Tab Hats are a popular outdoor accessory that can provide comfort, protection, and style during your adventures. When purchasing a Fjallraven Tab Hat, consider the materials, size, design features, and the specific weather conditions you will be using the hat in. Proper care and maintenance will ensure your hat remains functional and stylish for years to come.

2024.06.09 06:50 brittpeeks Solo Trip Report 5/16-5/25

I expected to have this posted very soon after my trip, but time got away from me! Even the prospect of writing this out is kind of daunting lol so props to all of you who post your trip reports (and I greedily read every word!). Whenever people say stuff like “this is so long, I don’t expect anyone to read this!” I’m always like “of course I’m going to read every word and love it!” But now I am the one telling you guys, this is very long and I can’t imagine who out there is going to read this lol
Thursday 5/16 - Travel Day
Flew to Naples where my friend lives. Plan was to stay two nights with her before we headed to Orlando for one “girls night” before my solo trip began.
Saturday 5/18 - Travel to Disney!
Left at 6:30am to drive to Orlando. It was her and her two girls (age 11 and 5). We had reservations for one night at Beach Club. We bounded as princesses (Tiana, Ariel, Aurora, Jasmine). We walked to Epcot at 11:30am and that short walk was INCREDIBLE. I can’t believe how close the park is!!! Beach Club is amazing for location alone! Here are the things we ate and experienced:
~~Toasted Pretzel Bread (Germany): 20/10 This was absolutely delicious and over the course of the week I think I ate it like 5-6 times lol
~~Raspberry Radler (Germany): same as above, LOVED
~~Harvested a Pearl (Japan): This was seriously THE BEST experience! We all got them put in necklaces. One of her daughters got a gray/blue pearl and it was gorgeous. Lots of attention when she showed mine bc it looked big and she kept moving it up the sizing plate. I ended up with an 8.5mm pearl! It was very exciting and lots of celebration by the workers and crowd. They said it was the largest of the day. Honestly, I recommend this to ANYONE. It was less expensive than I expected, $29 to harvest the pearl, then I think I spent $23 on a cage for it, and I chose to buy a necklace for it to wear right away and that was $26. I am 100% doing it again in September when I go back for my 40th birthday (and I told my hubby he is doing it too and will love it!)
~~Lemon Drop Shandy (The Citrus Blossom): 7/10 good! nothing exceptional, I liked the radler better
~~Cinnamon Roll Bites (Brunchcot): 6/10, I was so excited for these but they were just average. I think maybe if we had a batch that had more frosting it might have been better. They weren’t bad, just not outstanding. Loved the bacon crumbles though!
~~Guardians of the Galaxy: the only reason this is making it into the notes is bc of my Reliefband. I get motion sickness. I tried Guardians last fall (after 2 dramamine) and still had to sit for about an hour afterward to chill and not be sick. I decided to purchase a Reliefband (classic version, Amazon, $129) to try out this trip and see if it would work. I was very skeptical. But I am here to say it worked 1000000000%. I was so blown away. Absolutely ZERO feelings of motion sickness during or after the ride. Kept my eyes open the whole time (it’s the visual speed that usually gets me, screen rides get me too). I am not a big thrill ride person, so incidentally this time around I realized this isn’t the ride for me. I just don’t enjoy it that much, BUT the big deal is to find out that is my ride preference and has nothing to do with motion sickness. It was so liberating not having my motion sickness control me! Ooooo, also, I was absolutely ecstatic that I got the song I’ve always wanted!! Everybody Wants to Rule the World!
We left Epcot at 4pm and went back to the resort to check in. First of all, it’s so gorgeous there. The room was wonderful, the lobby is beautiful and smells amazing. I wish we had the money to always stay deluxe bc I get why people love deluxe resorts so much!
Dinner at Ale & Compass (Yacht Club): 7/10, again, food was decent but nothing exceptional. Actually the Parker House Rolls were 1000% worth the hype, I got the NY Strip Steak though, asked for medium rare and I think it was more medium and that ruined it a bit for me (also taste was just meh)
We spent about an hour and half swimming at Stormalong Bay after dinner. That pool is seriously incredible. I never want to experience anything but a sand bottom pool again. The. Absolute. Best.

Sunday 5/19 - Girls Leave and Solo Begins
We checked out and then had a Beaches and Cream reservation at 11:30am. We shared the Bacon Ranch Totchos (7/10 tasty but too much topping for me), Grilled Cheese and Tomato Soup (grilled cheese 9/10, tomato soup 6/10), aaaaand the Kitchen Sink Sundae (9/10)! Was it smart for us to get this with only two adult women and two children? Probably not. But boy was it fun and delicious and we put way more of a dent in it than I thought we would lol. A little siren goes off in the restaurant when one is brought to a table and there is a back and forth with kitchen staff and customers (they say something about a “whole can of whipped cream” and customers answer back as a group) and it was a very fun vibe! In fact that is one of the reasons I rate it a 9/10 haha, bc I think there is just too much whipped cream and a lot of the ice cream is just buried.
We swam at Stormalong bay for 2 more hours before they dropped me off at All-Star Movies and they headed home to Naples.
Magic Kingdom (solo)
I got into my room at All-Star Movies (Love Bug building 6) and tbh I didn’t mind its distance to the bus stop, maybe bc it was just me, but I didn’t have a problem with it, I thought the walk was quick enough. I was in Magic Kingdom by 5:30pm.
6pm PeopleMover (walk on) 5 min posted
6:30pm Pirates of the Caribbean (walk on) 10 min posted
6:45pm Thunder Mountain (10 min) 15 min posted
7:10pm Enchanted Tiki Room (10 min) 15 min posted
7:40pm Haunted Mansion (20 min) 20 min posted
8:25pm Got the Sweet and Spicy Chicken Waffle sandwich at Sleepy Hollow: 7/10, the taste was great, I don’t like spicy stuff but this wasn’t too spicy. The only con is that the bottom of the waffle was kind of soggy and I didn’t really eat that part.
8:55pm in spot for HEA
9:40pm Peter Pan’s Flight (25 min) 10 min posted
Spent a lot of time in gift shops and doing photopass on my way out of park
11:10pm On bus back to resort
19,626 steps
Monday 5/20 - Animal Kingdom
6:45am On the bus to AK
7:22am Scanned into the park
7:32am Nav’i River Journey (6 min) 10 min posted
8:05am Kilimanjaro Safari (18 min) 25 min posted, was off the safari at 8:45am
9:05am Pongu Pongu - tried the Pongu Lumpia! I know this snack is controversial, it seemed like it was up my alley, but others have said the same and didn’t end up liking it so I was expecting to ultimately dislike it. I enjoyed it! 8/10 would eat again!
9:15am Gorilla Falls Trek, walked for 20 mins
9:45am It’s Tough to be a Bug - this was my first time, honestly, I think I have read articles and seen so many vlogs calling it startling and scary that I think I was expecting the worst so much that it wasn't….that….bad? I didn’t mind it? (side note: the ONLY time this entire trip that I wore tennis shoes was the morning of Animal Kingdom. My feet were hurting by the time I went into this show, so while it was going on I switched to my flip flops and my feet took a complete 180 degrees. I wore flip flops the rest of the trip and had zero issues with sore feet. I guess I’m just a flip flop girly???)
10:15am Feathered Friends in Flight - was actually heading to 11am Lion King but a CM I passed was announcing to people that the bird show was starting at 10:30 so I decided to detour there. It was great!
11:00am Maharajah Jungle Trek, walked for 20 mins, this was the most beautiful trail for me, absolutely lovely!
11:30am Eight Spoon Cafe - got the BBQ pork MacnCheese, found a spot to sit down by Drinkwallah and that is my go-to spot now. It is shaded and the carved tables and chairs are so pretty. I really like that little (hidden?) sit-down area!
12:00pm Discovery Trails, walked for 10 mins, then looked around shops in Discovery Island and Asia
12:50pm Rafiki’s Planet Watch (5 min) I did not get off the train, at this point I needed a break but I did not want to go back to resort, so I sat on the Wildlife Train and drank lots of water, I went around the circuit twice, got off at 1:30pm
1:45pm Festival of the Lion King, got in line for 2pm show, this was my first time…it BLEW MY MIND, absolutely loooooooved this. So so much. It was wonderful!
3:00pm Dinosaur (5 min) 15 min posted - first time! Honestly, I have heard so many disparaging comments about this ride I expected it to be terrifying, painful and just not fun. Again, I had an opposite experience! I love dinosaur movies (like Jurassic park) so I really enjoyed this one. I hope it is still there to ride when I am back in the fall!
3:30pm Nomad Lounge (added myself to waitlist on app, there was no “wait” got the text pretty much immediately) This was such an important break out of the heat. I spent an hour here to recharge. I drank a lot of water, had a delicious cocktail Lamu Libation 10/10, Ahi Tuna Poke Bowl 8/10, and Churros 10/10. I was able to charge my phone in an outlet at the bar. It was the perfect break!
5:00pm Left AK and headed back to resort
7:20pm Scanned into Hollywood Studios, walked around, looked through gift shops
8:20pm Catalina Eddie’s: got the Toffee and Coconut Blondie to take with me into Fantasmic! You guys…this is an absolute favorite of mine! My friend got it at NYE and forced me to try it (I didn’t want to bc I am not a coconut fan) but I fell in LOVE. Definitely a 20/10. I was so excited to get it again this trip. If you don’t love coconut, I find it very mild, you should definitely give it a shot.
9:00pm Fantasmic!
10:00pm Got on the bus to All-Star Sports instead of Movies bc in the gift shop at my resort the worker had told me I could find the pin I was looking for at the Sports gift shop. It was the 30 yr Anniversary pin of All-Star Resorts. I bought that and walked all the way back to my building, was back by 10:30pm
31,437 steps
Tuesday 5/21 - EPCOT
10:00am Scanned in at Epcot - kind of embarrassing…I was “that person” to hold everyone up. The past two days I did not need a park reservation, so I didn’t even think anything of it, but they told me one was required this day and he was setting one up for me on his ipad but then it kept erroring out, I felt TERRIBLE.
10:25am - Living with the Land (5 min) 5 min posted
10:50am - Nemo and Friends (15 min) 15 min posted
11:15am - Journey of Water walkthrough
11:40am - bought the Spike’s Pollination Exploration Scavenger hunt, it was nice bc it was 30% off with the rest of the F&G merch and I got my 20% discount on it. I mean it was only $10 regular price but I was still pretty happy lol
11:50am - got food!!! Toasted Pretzel Bread and Raspberry Radler (Germany) still 20/10, Frushi (Japan) 8/10, Fruit Punch Ale (America) 8/10 good but I would get the radler over this every time
1:00pm Frozen (40 min) 60 min posted, I got splashed a lot more than normal this time for some reason! Sat next to a girl who was videoing on a go-pro, asked if she was a vlogger but she said no and then we chatted for a min about our love of Disney vlogs, it was nice!
2:10pm Kringla Bakeri - Viking Coffee, 9/10 excellent!
2:30pm The Honey Bee-stro - Liquid Nitro Honey-Mascarpone Cheesecake, 10/10 LOVED, the cheesecake was smooth and creamy (even while “frozen”) and the tart blueberry compote that comes with it is a perfect pairing. Plus I was able to Pixie Dust someone here! There was a young girl in line in front of me by herself, she was maybe 13? Anyway she was trying to scan her magic band for payment and the CM told her the band was not authorized to be used for payment, she seemed a bit surprised and embarrassed and I stepped in and started scanning my magic band. It was honestly only $6.50. She tried to tell me no and that she would go get her mom, but I just overrode her and said “It’s Disney! Let me!” with a smile. We were both at the window to pick up our items together and when she got hers she unexpectedly leaned in and gave me a hug and thanked me again. I was so surprised and heartwarmed (and also felt bad that I was kinda sweaty lol). But anyway it was a wonderful moment!
2:45pm Bought the Spaceship Earth cookie jar that I have been wanting so badly! I got it with my gift card I got for “mothers day” from our pets :D
2:55pm Spaceship Earth (walk on) 5 min posted
4:00pm Bus back to resort for a break and shower bc it was a very hot day!
6:40pm Scanned back into EPCOT
6:45pm Spaceship Earth (walk on) 5 min posted
Walked around to find Spike for scavenger hunt
7:35pm Toasted Pretzel Bread and Raspberry Radler (again! lol)
8:00pm watched Garden Rocks concert
More Spike hunting!
9:00pm Luminous
9:10pm Started heading out of park
This was my toughest day of my whole solo trip for several reasons. 1) I don’t think I did enough sit down things, I was on my feet a ton 2) I was not being “park smart”. Epcot is huge enough in the first place but I was not navigating the park in an efficient way and ended up walking WAY more than I should have. Around 7:30-8pm I started to feel something pulled in my leg (after googling later maybe a mild issue with adductor tendon?) it was high up in my inner thigh, I decided to leave the park only 10 mins after Luminous started bc I really wanted to not push myself, the next day was going to be my Magic Kingdom day and that is my favorite park and would likely be a long day and I just didn’t want to ruin it.
29,183 steps
Wednesday 5/22 - Hollywood Studios (not Magic Kingdom!)
Woke up before 7am and decided to pivot on my plans bc of my leg. I decided to stay in the resort room until midday to rest my leg, and due to that decision I switched my park day from MK to HS. I figured if I was going to be in a park for less hours of the day I would rather sacrifice time in Hollywood Studios than Magic Kingdom. I bought Genie+ and bought an ILL for Rise of the Resistance for 1:40pm. This ended up being THE BEST decision I could have made. By the time I left my room, my leg was feeling 100% better and I did not have any issues with it for the rest of the trip!
1:15pm Scanned into Hollywood Studios
1:30pm Frozen Sing Along - I love this fricken show, I always want to see it every time I go to HS, I could watch it a million times, I am always impressed by the Arendelle Historians bc they are so funny, and while they will make jokes in a similar vein, they still have so much variety that you don’t see the same jokes when you watch shows with different historians. A++, this will always be one of my faves.
2:15pm Rise of the Resistance ILL - full A mode, also…bc I was wearing my Reliefband I was able to keep my eyes open during the drop with the simulation of flying through space. It was great!!!
3:00pm Smuggler's Run (G+) - okaayyyyyy, I have never been on this (due to motion sickness fears) but I decided to take the plunge. I got all the way to sitting in the seat and tbh I was terrified. I was by myself, I didn’t know exactly what to expect and I was not so much scared that I would be sick, I was confident in the Reliefband, but I was worried I would hate the simulated feeling of flying. That kinda freaks me out. So then, the ride doesn’t actually start and they tell us that a CM will be in to let us out bc it has malfunctioned and we will be given a LL back. I was quite literally SO RELIEVED. I will try that ride, but in September when I am with my husband!
3:30pm Woody’s Lunchbox - Adult Lemonade 10/10 and Raspberry Lunchbox Tart 7/10. I ended up getting two more Adult Lemonades throughout the night bc I thought they were delicious!! The tart was fine, it tasted “good” but nothing unique or outstanding.
4:00pm Beauty and the Beast Live
4:35pm Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway (G+)
5:15pm Toy Story Mania (G+)
6:00pm Baseline Taphouse - Charcuterie Board 9/10 and Blood Orange Hard Cider 7/10
6:30pm Frozen Sing Along - I am not kidding about how much I like this show lol
7:10pm Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway (40 mins) 45 min posted
8:20pm Rise of the Resistance (used the anytime pass I got for Smuggler Run going down) this time around we ended up having to walk down a hallway bc there was a technical difficulty with the 2nd pre show (where you enter the craft and get pulled in by the first order) we skipped that part and walked down a hallway straight into the storm trooper room. Everything else worked except for Finn.
8:45pm Ran my ass through Toy Story land (picked up an Adult Lemonade!) and hightailed it to Fantasmic! This ended up being a very good lesson for me. Getting to Fantasmic! just as it was starting was NOT a good idea. I was in the bleachers in the last section at the top, like with the walkway in front of you. You can hardly see anything back there. I will not make this mistake again. I left just as the floats started bc I could not even see them at all.
Browsed a lot of gift shops!
10:20pm Got on bus back to resort
I go back and forth on whether G+ was worth it today. Ultimately, I side on yes bc I didn’t even get to the park until 1pm, got to walk the park a ton, I did the most photopass spots here than I did on any other day, so Genie+ allowing me to just hop on 3 rides with no wait gave me the time to do all of that (and watch Frozen twice and B&B show), and I had the time to wait for Runaway Railway standby again. Also, bc the Smugglers Run malfunction allowed me to use a “LL” on Rise again, that alone made it worth it!
20,264 steps
Thursday 5/23 - Magic Kingdom
Wooooohoooo! My favorite park! I decided to get G+ today and get an ILL for Seven Dwarfs Mine Train for 7:40pm
9:10 Scanned into MK
9:25am Thunder Mountain (walk on) 10 min posted, this ride has never gotten to me in the past (motion sickness) but I was in the second to last cart and that made this ride feel faster and “dippier” and I did not care for it lol
9:40am Westward Ho - Crispy Chicken/egg/pepper jack breakfast biscuit, 9/10 would get again!
9:55am Pirates of the Caribbean (10 min) 15 min posted
10:25am Enchanted Tiki Room (walk on, got there just as they were ushering people in)
10:45am Enchanted Tales with Belle (12 min) 20 min posted
11:20am Little Mermaid (G+)
11:35am Mickey’s Philharmagic (10 min) 15 min posted
12:20 Carousel (15 min) 5 min posted - tbh this one pissed me off lol, bc I would have never gone on it had I realized I would wait 15 mins, 5 mins was a cruel trick haha
12:50pm Winnie the Pooh (G+)
1:05pm it’s a small world (G+)
1:35pm PeopleMover (8 min) 15 min posted
2:05pm Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin (G+) - I didn’t remember thinking this ride was this hard! But after having just done Toy Story Mania the day before, I did not find this one to be as easy to “play”, I prefer Toy Story Mania!
2:20pm Monsters Inc Laugh Floor (17 min) 10 min posted
3:05 Peter Pan’s Flight (G+)
3:25pm Pecos Bills - slugged some water, had a coke (12/10 refreshing!) and nachos (4/10, I did not remember these being so spicy, I mean I don’t like spice so I am probably a wimp saying this but I did not enjoy these bc of the spiciness, will not get again)
4:00pm Stopped in Columbia Harbour house which was not too busy and found an empty table next to an outlet to charge my phone
4:45pm Haunted Mansion (G+)
Walked to First Aid station for Tylenol (headache)
5:20pm Pirates of the Caribbean (G+)
5:50pm Sunshine Tree Terrace - I tried the I Lava You Float, and I was sure it was going to be too sweet even though I have read many people’s reviews who loved it. I LAVA THIS FLOAT! 10/10 very much looking forward to getting again in fall!
6:05 WDW Train (Frontierland) (6 min) 10 min posted - I felt like chilling for a bit again so I did a full circuit and then went on to Fantasyland
7:05 Mickey’s Philharmagic (5 min) 10 min posted
7:35pm Seven Dwarfs Mine Train ILL - felt the same way about this one as BTM earlier, I was in one of the last carts (row 8) and it felt faster and dippier than in the past, no thanks!
8:10pm PeopleMover (20 min) 5 min posted - this should have been a walk on, but the ride went down as I was in line, I kept debating back and forth about leaving the line and coming back, but I just kept sticking it out a few more mins and a few more mins. Some people in line behind me were speculating if someone had puked on the ride bc of the workers going up. Not sure, doesn’t really matter, PeopleMover is the BEST at night!
8:50pm Seven Dwarfs Mine Train (35 min) 35 min posted - Listen, I wasn’t expecting to be on this ride during HEA, I was just trying to hop in line while everyone was waiting for fireworks bc the wait would be shorter, but the fact that I actually got on it in perfect timing to see fireworks?! Let me just say it is just as cool as everyone says it is! Also, they put me in row 8 again, grrrrr, is that the designated solo rider lane?
9:30pm TRON - I tried getting a boarding group at 7am and didn’t get in. So then my plan was to get in at 1pm but I totallyyyyyyy forgot about it and I remembered at 1:55pm and I was like “crap! I guess I will see if I can still buy an ILL”. I was about to do that and then I thought to myself, “maybe I should just see if the VQ is still open?” AND IT WAS! So I literally got a boarding group at 2pm, an hour after the VQ started, I was shocked and thrilled when I got one! Plus TRON is always so gorgeous at night. I actually have yet to ride it in the day lol And LISTEN, I get that most people prefer Guardians to TRON, I really do get it. BUT bc I am not that much of a thrill ride person, I like easier going coasters. I seriously love TRON so much. It is such a horizontal coaster that it’s like my ideal. You get the thrill from it being fast and a little dippy, but nothing crazy. It’s a fave for me!!!
10:30pm Casey’s Corner - French fries and coke, both 10/10 refreshing and needed the pick me up!
10:45pm Main Street Confectionary - It was on my to-do list to get the popcorn mix from here. I chose Butter Popcorn, dark chocolate sauce, pretzel pieces and snickers. 10/10 definitely recommend. Will be getting a mix again in September!
11:10pm Got on bus back to resort
Friday 5/24 - Bonus Day?!
This was supposed to be my travel day back home. My flight was set to leave at 5pm, but in the morning my husband told me about storms in the midwest and I got an email from the airline about “adverse weather conditions”, so I called and changed my flight to the next day at 7am. (It ended up being the right choice bc my original 5pm flight out of MCO was delayed multiple times until it was finally canceled at like 10:30pm) I was thankfully able to book another night at All-Star Movies and could stay in my same room. I quickly formed the plan to go back to Animal Kingdom to see Festival of the Lion King again bc I had enjoyed it so much earlier in the week and then go to EPCOT to finish the final 4 Spikes that I had not located yet for the scavenger hunt!
11:00am Scanned in at Animal Kingdom
11:50am Mr. Kamal’s - got the Chicken Dumplings that were on my list to try but I did not get the chance to on Monday, also went back to my favorite spot by Drinkwallah, the dumplings were like a 6/10. Idk just pretty average for a potsticker that you can get anywhere, I probably would not get them again
12:15pm walked around Dinoland to really soak it in just in case next time I come it is walled off!
1:pm Festival of the Lion King - man, this is just fantastic! Be Prepared is my favorite villain song and I get so pumped when they do that part!
1:50pm Satu’li Canteen - got the wood-grilled chicken protein bowl, with rice and black beans and the creamy herb sauce. Literally OH MY GOD, this was so flipping good! 20/10!!! Best thing I ate hands-down all week. I wasn’t sure I would eat the slaw in the bowl but that was delicious, the creamy herb sauce was amazing and those little boba balls that add the citrus burst?!?! So so good. I have already altered our plans for September to include two meals here so I can get this bowl twice next time lol
2:45pm Took bus back to Resort
5:30pm Scanned in at EPCOT
5:55pm Living with the Land (walkon) 10 min posted
6:15pm Awesome Planet (walkon, went into theater immediately and show started) This was my first time checking this out, I really enjoyed it! I will def watch again especially in the heat of the day when I just need to sit somewhere cool for a bit!
6:45pm Found Spike (1 of 4 left) by the Butterly Landing!
7:00pm Found Spike (2 of 4 left) in France
7:10pm Checked out the Annual Passholder lounge in Restaurant Marrakesh
7:35pm Gran Fiesta Tour (walk on) 5 min posted
7:50pm Found Spike (3 of 4 left) in Mexico
8:00pm Got another Toasted Pretzel Bread and Raspberry Radler from Germany (dont judge! lol)
8:10pm watched Lit at Garden Rocks concert (who doesn’t love “My own worst enemy”!?!?!?)
8:35pm Found final Spike in Japan!!! - this one was my ultimate nemesis. I had searched Japan on Tuesday, I had searched Japan (twice?) earlier on this day and I was all set to give up bc I couldn’t find the Kokedama garden. I just hadn’t looked up the stone path to the left of Japan. Finally saw it when it was dark out and got my final Spike!!!
8:50pm Journey of Water walkthrough (always better at night!)
9:05pm Shoutout to the photopass guy who I stopped by on my way out of the park, those were the most awkward poses I have ever done in front of spaceship earth but you tried your best and the photos make me laugh every time I see them!

Overall Thoughts
10/10 Amazing Trip. I found out about people going on solo trips here on reddit late last year and I was immediately certain I had to book one. While I can be a very social person, I am also a loner in the fact that I do enjoy spending time in my own company (not everybody does) so I knew a solo trip was right up my alley. It was everything I hoped for and more. I didn’t have to consult anyone else, I could do what I want, when I want. Also, (not to brag….shhhhhh…I’m not bragging I swear) but I am not a complainer. The heat usually doesn’t affect me too much, I have a good amount of endurance so I get tired of course but it takes a lot. I’m pretty unflappable because I’m just happy to BE AT Disney World. Others I’ve gone with are not like this so much lol so it was nice to just be in my own company in the sense that I was always in a positive mood and didn’t have anyone dimming that? If that makes sense?
Safety
I am a petite woman. I am 4’10” and 118lbs so I am very aware of my size in terms of my safety. I can honestly say though that I felt safe throughout the whole trip. The one time that I got off the bus at All-Star Sports at 10pm to go to the gift shop and then walked all the way to Movies, that did worry me a bit but only as I was walking through the parking lot sections.
And I did get the crap scared out of me at the resort due to the requirement of a “visual check”. I had not ever heard of this, but I was in my room for a midday break and I had a knock at my door by housekeeping. I thought it was odd bc I had my “room occupied” sign out the whole time bc I didn’t feel the need for housekeeping, it was just me in the room. I said “no thank you” and they knocked and announced housekeeping again. I said “no thank you” louder. (internally I was thinking, can they not hear me through the door????) and they did it again! I finally went closer to the door and I heard the person mumble something about a “visual check” and I very sternly and loudly said “no!” bc I didn’t know what the heck they were talking about. I peeked through the curtain at my window and watched the guy walk past holding a phone in his hand. I think he was wearing a uniform shirt but I couldn’t totally tell. I decided to call the resort in the event this was someone trying to pose as housekeeping staff. They ended up relieving my fears by telling me it was legitimate. Apparently, you have to have your room checked at some point in your stay (I was staying 5 nights) if you choose not to get housekeeping. He explained this has to do with the Pulse Nightclub shooting. I guess they had stockpiled guns in their hotel room and kept not letting housekeeping in. He explained that is why they do the visual check, for the safety of all resort guests. I was 100% supportive once he told me that and I felt bad for yelling at the guy. But also, I am a solo woman and I had no idea what the hell was going on, and to be completely frank, I had just showered so I was in a tshirt and underwear which made me feel even more vulnerable bc I was not fully dressed! I was not letting that person in my room. The guy on the phone totally understood that and apologized for alarming me. I told him to have the guy come back and do the visual check. I apologized to him when he came in. He was in my room for all of 10 seconds and that was it. But it was certainly a crazy ordeal!
Walking
I was doing 20-30k steps each day and other than hurting my leg on Tuesday I was honestly fine. I had shin splints too but again, they weren’t terrible and by Thursday they were gone. I brought tennis shoes and flip flops intending to switch on and off throughout the week in order to prevent my feet from getting sore but that never happened. I spent 3 hours in the shoes on Monday before my feet started hurting and I never wore them again. I had 2 different pairs of flip flops the whole time. I guess that is what my feet like!
Backpack vs Loungefly
I typically wear a normal size backpack to the parks, but also I can usually share wearing it with my husband. I didn’t really consider how hard it would be to wear a backpack alllllllll day long. And it wasn’t even heavy, I didn’t put much in it at all, but still it wore on my shoulders and made them sore. On Wednesday I ended up getting a Loungefly even though they have never really been my thing. It honestly ended up being perfect. It felt different on my shoulders and I wasn’t getting sore like I was with a regular size backpack.
Waiting in Lines
I have often read that one of the things that bothers solo travelers the most is waiting in lines by themselves bc it’s boring and they have no one to keep them company. I thought I might feel this way too but waiting in lines was not bad at all to me. It’s so easy to be on your phone that whole time. I was looking at my photopass photos, browsing reddit, and inputting trip notes. I felt like waiting in line was not a hardship for me as a solo traveler.
Photopasses
This trip exceeded my expectations with photopasses! The number of photos each photographer took and the variety of positions and magic shots was awesome. I am assuming part of that is because I was solo? I am not sure but I just felt like the quantity and time spent at each photopass location was better than normal. Special shout out to Hollywood Studios, that day in particular was just awesome. Every photographer was awesome, but especially the ones in Galaxy’s Edge. I was having such an amazing time getting them!
Total Photopasses each day:
MK - 6 photopass spots
AK - 2 photopass spots
Epcot - 3 photopass spots
HS - 7 photopass spots
MK - 6 photopass spots
AK and EPCOT - 7 photopass spots
I can’t wait to do it all again in September with my husband!

  4. Requirements for Responses:
    • Conduct research to explore real-world examples of societies that suppress personal narratives or attempt to erase collective memory.

Consider the role of unity, diversity, and collaboration in rebuilding a shattered world.

  7. Prompt: Imagine a world where climate change and environmental degradation have irreversibly altered the planet. Write a story or reflective essay from the perspective of a character who is part of a group striving to restore balance and heal the damaged Earth. Explore the connections between personal responsibility, collective action, and the intersections of social and environmental justice.
  8. Prompt: Transport yourself to a society where strict social hierarchies are based on a person's genetic makeup. Examine the role of genetic determinism, discrimination, and the power of individual agency in reshaping social structures.
  9. Prompt: Imagine a world where art and creativity are considered illegal, seen as tools of subversion and chaos. Write a story or reflective essay from the perspective of an artist who risks everything to defy this oppressive regime and reclaim the power of artistic expression. Analyze the significance of art as a form of resistance, its ability to inspire change, and its impact on personal and societal transformation.

2024.06.09 04:43 Solrex [Request]Rebuilding my Sprite Kineticist from Earth/Water to Earth/water/wood (level 9 retraining) (total makeover ish)

Link to Gaia: https://pathbuilder2e.com/launch.html?build=779002
To Mods: If this post is deemed spam or too much about this particular character, who I haven't posted about for a while now, please remove and lemme know when would be appropriate to post something like this. (Ie the cooldown has expired)
Backstory: https://docs.google.com/document/d/10XmSJ1GY4aMr-C7j1pBw35Mh_cOmvQ-7TTdDnJa4_Nw/edit
Anathemas: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1VtVCqTG3n2QuQ52FWAP8bADC8q69s8i5B_QmevQbM0k/edit
Alright, I'm looking to trim some fat and make this character better. I have loads of downtime points saved up and I only need 3 weeks for a full rebuild, so l want a makeover!
Rules:
  1. Don't remove roiling mudslide. It's her signature move. She is a mud fairy after all. It can be moved around to be optimized though. Plus once the official errata came out she got a huge buff from a 15 foot cone to a 30 foot one.
  2. Miresoul is a lineage feat, I'm like 99% sure you can't retrain that, and flavor wise I wouldn't want to. Update: With 3 weeks of downtime for a full respec I could retrain out of it, but again, it fits my characters theme and backstory VERY well.
  3. A note on overload impulses: I try to avoid them whenever possible as I don't like stuff shutting off, however, lemme know if it's absolutely necessary and what shuts off if I do so.
  4. Free archetype is allowed.
  5. Gaia has a huge mud theme. She has a water or earth impulse? If it can be mud, it is mud for flavor reasons. This doesn't change mechanics, but her armor in earth is a thick impenetrable clay, her winter sleet is not slippery ice but slippery mud, etc etc.
  6. Picture a Paladin (like 5e/WoW/this game). Now replace holy and light with nature and mud. Still a frontline tank, still goes in melee. That's Gaia's theme.
Notes:
Level 1 is fine, nothing wrong there.
Level 2 has stepping stones, which has never seen use. Battle medicine is for redundant healing in combat (a good thing, as each heal has it's cooldown). Druid dedication is kinda locked in, see backstory. Could be shifted around.
Level 3: Gaia is 9 and a quarter inches tall. She does not want to drown in her own mud or while burrowing. That's why this is here.
Level 4: Safe elements. I really need to remember to designate people at the start of combat. Basic wilding> Order explorer> leaf: I did this to get Goodberry, now known as Cornucopia, but not quite yet. Redundant healing(good thing). Slippery prey: to be fair, I haven't used this, so retraining it would be fine. Totally forgot I had it though. Leshy Familiar: What the heck can I have this do? Haven't touched this once.
Level 5: Evanescent Wings: Lore stuff you no touch my muddy wings. Winter sleet: This can be retrained for free, it got changed so many times. Debating whether I should keep it or not, would be a great time to retrain out of it. Expand the portal: Earth Gate Junction: might be a good place to put wood or air if we add those. Although this is one of Gaia's ways to slightly tank/battlefield control, so be careful when handling this. Depends on the build.
Level 6: Rolling Mudslide. Gaia's only true mud attack. If it is removed from here, it MUST be added back somewhere else, non-negotiable. Druid spellcasting: this gets me spells. Like mud and utility spells. Yeah. Assurance: Nature: 100% chance to heal allies outside of combat.
Level 7: Fleet. Took this cause I was lagging behind. Probably best not to remove it.
Level 8: Swim through earth: my first form of burrowing. Pairs well with Kip up. Advanced wilding>order magic: leaf order, this one actually gives it to me.
Level 9: the level Gaia is currently at. Energize wings (story feat, non-negotiable), spike skin (kinda trash, could be replaced with wood feat), impulse junction: water: let's me double push someone hit by my roiling mudslide, including around corners. Could be retrained.
Level 10: expert herbalism: I'm not sure if I'm really feeling this as much as I was when I first planned it. Would be great to replace with wood feats. However herbalist dedication would probably also need to be replaced. Alternatively I just need to buckle down and do the work to write down all those potions. Maybe replace it with another archetype since I'm unsure of this one, and with introducing wood I might be good on that. Aerobatics mastery: I want to be able to fly good when I do it.
Level 11: Blank. This might have been filled at some point, but my cookies expired and I had to find a backup on Reddit. I'm now saving to my Google Drive. This will come up more later.
Level 12: Effortless Impulse: I need to know what this is sustaining, otherwise, probably retrain it. Expert Druid spellcasting: just Druid leveling. But this gives access to higher level spells. Fresh ingredients: Maybe I do keep herbalist? I have no clue.
Level 13: Invisible trickster: this at one point was one with earth, but I found swim through earth fulfilled this role enough, and had a better speed. Expand the portal feat: Great place to pick up wood stuff or a feature we dropped earlier to take wood sooner.
14: Assume earths mantle: Maybe. Sorta conflicts with a capstone feat later though. Advanced wilding: mud lance mud lance!!! (Stone lance, plus focus points). Open skill feat.
15: open general feat. Again, this was probably filled, but it wasn't saved correctly.
16: Nourishing Gate: at this point I plan to retrain out of breath control as it is no longer necessary. Poultice prep is taken if I stay in herbalist, otherwise, room for something else. Open skill feat.
17: HERO WINGS!!!!! Wooooooo, yeah, this is the best part, story stuff etc but permanent wings woooooo! And other blank feats, maybe take air impulses here? Not sure.
18: Rebirth in living stone: I don't believe this stacks with assume earths mantle, but maybe it's okay to have both? Idk. Everything from here on is blank.
Wishes:
Wood stuff: healing, Druid stuff, what wood impulses do I take?
Herbalist: I need help with this.
Air stuff: Better flight, wings are really just for show, but also we did a level 20 one shot and flying kinda sucks tbh. Not good against a Terrasque.
Fire: Would be interesting but Gaia is definitely not a DPS.
Metal: Would be interesting but Gaia doesn't need anything here. Armor in earth is better than metal armor.
Composites: Jagged Berms: Minecraft? Especially if I get friends that also have the feat and we can build complex temp shelters.
Ambush bladderwort: could be good, at its worst it's action economy to eat enemies action economy.
Tree of duality: This is late game in this build, as it requires both air and wood, and it doesn't scale well (a d4 per 2 levels). Correct me if I am wrong.
Desert Wind: I'm not feeling it. Air is kinda late for me, and this focuses more on air than on earth. Maybe?
Rising Hurricane: 1: it's overflow. 2: it's kinda a big mess, and I mean that in more ways than one. Maybe it could be worth it?
Any other composite feats I should be aware of to consider dipping?
Anyways, would like some help with this, my next game is on June 13th, and when the next one is who knows. Kinda a reason I'm trying to make a lower level character as to get more games in. Higher levels just don't get as many games(westmarches server). But that aside, lemme know what you think my build could use. If this was a tv show, and my build is a house, I want to give it a total makeover while keeping true to it's identity.
