As per a market veteran, greed is at every level. There is greed with F&O traders, hedge funds and exchanges facing M/W/D expiry. Since greed at such expiries are natural, why blame hedge funds for our actions and losses? It is wrong to blame others for our failure to understand the risks of F&O trading. If retail investors don't know the tricks of trading, they should simply step aside and do nothing. Volatility on expiry day is a given fact. One should know how to play against the big sharks or else stay away from F&O trading. We just create excuses for our failure in understanding the terms of business and the risks involved as everyone is addicted to F&O trading despite the huge losses. It is impossible for them to control their greed. Interpreting the right direction on expiry day is a must if one has to survive the volatility in the markets.
As per a market veteran, when market is on its peak, avoid tip and rumor-based trading, as there are chances of getting trapped. Do your own research for every company you choose to invest in. Follow very strictly the single rule allocation - not more than 7-9% of the portfolio in a single stock even if the promoter says so. Do not trade if the concept of the trade is not clear in your mind. Till 4th June, there will be wild volatile swings both ways. But if you have taken a trade without having the clear concept, you will get trapped.
As per a market veteran, never sell your winners to average out your losers! Otherwise, the day is not far when you will end up having a bunch of losers only! Bull markets are like marathons. Those who run it know the importance of consistency and discipline. People expect calamities and catastrophic in steady bull markets. So invest energy to develop patience and face them. Ride the tide and don’t time the ride.

2024.05.18 08:19 dultimate02 Navigating the Michael Jackson Controversy: A Fan's Perspective

TL;DR at the end.
This is pretty long. Longtime lurker. For some background, I used to believe the accusations against MJ were false and that he was a child at heart. I believed all the victims were lying and only after MJ for money. It wasn't until I watched videos by the Youtuber "Roxane Roxane" that I began to believe MJ was guilty. Her videos are incredibly well-researched. I've watched all her videos about him many, many times, and just recently even watched "Leaving Neverland." I generally believe the accusations. I suspect perhaps some victims are lying or lying about certain parts, omitting or adding bits of information, but it's hard to believe everyone is. For example, I find it very hard to believe James Safechuck kept the ring MJ gave him for over 20 years... I don't know; that seems a bit odd to me, and it's weird how those scenes were added in reshoots shot 17 months after principal photography. But I do believe he was abused by Michael.
I'm not stupid or a blind fan, though, especially after being involved with this sub and watching Roxane's videos. A grown man consistently sleeping in beds with children from his 20s all the way to his 40s... yeah, he touched those kids. Maybe not all, but yeah, he must've... right? Even his first girlfriend was like 13 while he was 19, right? I mean, that's weird. There's so much smoke around this guy, and where there's smoke, there's fire. He was obviously fixated on that age group due to the childhood trauma he faced. It's sad. I believe Joe Jackson likely molested Michael along with his sisters since La Toya is on record saying that her and her sister's were sexually abused by Joe. Michael more likely than not molested and hurt many people.
In fact, Adrian McManus, a former maid of Jackson, said in an interview that she was told they could hire a hitman if she said anything and they'd never find her body. That's something that seems so out of this world, but if any individual was capable of doing such a thing, it'd have to be Jackson. It's dark as shit, but I'm sure many, many, many people beyond the children were hurt, threatened, or maybe even murdered to keep the secret of MJ's life hidden. That's scary shit.
Even so, even with this knowledge, I can still listen to Michael Jackson perfectly fine. I still jam to his music every day. It's hard for me not to. It's insane just how ridiculously talented this man was. His albums are bangers, his dance moves, everything. Even his unfinished songs like "I'm So Blue," "Al Capone," and "Carousel." So many of his songs have moved me to tears. He was just incredible. Just because he was so talented doesn't mean he should get away with it, but he does... I'm guilty of it, and I think that's why he hasn't been canceled in the same way R Kelly has. He was just that good of a performer, entertainer, and artist, and it's so depressing his life was likely this dark. Off the Wall, Thriller, Bad, those alone are easily 10/10 albums. Michael is a GREEK TRAGEDY.
I'm thinking to myself why this is, why am I able to listen to this guy knowing all this? Why can I watch the BAD tour and be dazzled by his performance on stage? Why can I listen to "Billie Jean" and, for a moment, believe the character Michael is playing in the song? Sure, there's a lot of rebuttal videos and articles, and it legit seems like there's a "YES BUT" for literally everything revolving around the accusations about this guy, which might play a part in it. "La Toya said MJ was a pedo" - "Yes, but her abusive ex was using her." "Jordan Chandler accused Michael in 1993" - "Yes, but his dad put him up to it and wanted to use his son to extort Michael." "Michael had books with child pornography in it" - "Yes, but he had many, many books, and fans sent him a lot of stuff." "Michael was holding hands with Gavin Arvizo in the 'Living with MJ' doc" - "Yes, but Martin Bashir asked him to hold Gavin's hand." See what I mean? I don't think a single other celebrity has this many "yes buts." It's so amazing to me.
These are just a couple of "yes buts" that I could think of, but there's many, many more. But I think ultimately it's because I'm young, 22 years old. I'm not a father, I don't have children, and I've never had little brothers or sisters, but I imagine as I get older and when I do have children, maybe I won't be able to listen to MJ anymore. A part of me feels I ought to enjoy Michael's music while I can before I eventually can't anymore. I find this man's life ridiculously tragic, and a big part of me feels a lot of pity for him. That doesn't excuse what he did, it absolutely doesn't, AND I especially feel for all the potential victims, but Michael Jackson is really a situation where I can 100% separate the art from the artist. Perhaps that is a selfish act.
I was only 7 when Michael died, but I remember the day like it was yesterday; I remember where I was, my mom's reaction, everything. I remember the hype for the THIS IS IT film at the end of 2009. Michael Jackson is the closest thing to a real-life comic book character to me. There's a mysticism to him, like I struggle to believe this man existed. He's almost the ultimate celebrity; a ridiculous amount of plastic surgery, drama, scandals, fake marriages, kids who are not his, drastically changing looks, but he was arguably the best musical performer who's ever lived. Even the constantly changing appearance is akin to that of different artists drawing comic book superheroes. Strange comparison, I know.
I find basically everything about Michael Jackson intriguing, to say the least, both the "good" and the terrible. I can watch the details YouTube videos giving me fun MJ facts one moment, Andy Signore and Taj Jackson debunking "Leaving Neverland," then go straight to watching a Roxane Roxane video or reading posts on this sub. I'm not in the middle; I know in my heart he was probably guilty. The chances of him being a pedophile are like 99%. Sure, maybe there's a 1% chance he was really a child at heart, that he was set up because he was the most famous person in the world. Sure, there's a chance, and maybe I, along with many others, are holding onto that 1% chance. I guess I'm fascinated by the character Michael Jackson played to the public all those years.
I am a filmmaker, and I can't help but admire the artistry behind Michael Jackson. In many ways, his commitment to his craft inspires me heavily. It's unparalleled. I believe he was a genius... a true legend but I also believe he was a child molester. I'm a follower of this sub and MichaelJackson. I follow Taj, and I'm curious about how his doc on MJ comes out. I'm looking forward to Andy Signore's MJ doc with interviews. I'm ecstatic for the Michael Jackson movie because I believe from a directorial standpoint, it'll be a major challenge, and I'm excited to see how Antoine Fuqua crafts what I have jokingly referred to with my friends as "The Ultimate Retcon." I fully expect the movie to be what many WISH MJ was; what I wish he was. The film will be the ultimate representation of the 1% chance of Michael's innocence.
Another part of me feels like this is the right thing to do from the perspective of the Jackson family and estate. No way they don't know Michael was a pedophile. Hell, I'm sure his kids know too, but there's almost a responsibility they all hold to protect this man's legacy. They have to do everything they can because it's their dad, their brother, their friend. Right? Wow, it's all so fucked up, to be honest.
I feel eventually the MJ bottle is gonna crack open, that the volcano will eventually erupt. If MJ were alive today, that volcano likely would've already erupted. I feel in my gut that one day, a Jackson, maybe Katherine on her deathbed, maybe one of Michael's kids, will admit to the knowledge that he was probably a pedophile. It's like a ticking time bomb. Next year is gonna be an insane year because there's the After Neverland Doc, the Michael movie, and the court case. This isn't gonna end.
What do y'all think? Agree? Disagree? Get where I'm coming from?
TL;DR:I used to believe Michael Jackson was innocent until I watched well-researched videos by Roxane Roxane and being a lurker of this sub, which all changed my perspective. While I think some victims might not be fully truthful, I believe MJ abused children. Despite this, I still enjoy his music due to his immense talent, though I acknowledge this might change if I have children and as I get older. MJ's life was tragic and complex, and I struggle with separating the art from the artist. I'm excited for the upcoming MJ movie and feel his legacy will continue to be a controversial topic. From the perspective of the estate and his family, they must do all they can to preserve it, even if that's the wrong thing to do morally. What are your thoughts?

2024.05.14 06:06 No-Recipe-8294 Was I an mkultra/ human trafficking subject in the 90s and 2000s?

Chapter one
How do memories look for you? Like flashes? Clear as day? Can you remember?
I can. I can see things so clearly. I can hear things so clearly. I can remember. But only as flashes.
I’m listening to Cathy O’Briens book and she says write. Do not speak.
Even now I don’t think it’s the same as typing.
I plan to get a notebook specifically for my memory. It’s strange. Like vomit. All mingled and mixed. And out of order. And “this memory” makes me think of “this memory.” And “this happened” but then before “this happened”. And I wish I could talk to someone but then also I’m glad I’m not. Cause what if they lead me astray. What if they make me believe it never happened.
This piece will be out of order. And for that forgive me. I want so badly to be cohesive and coherent but I’m afraid everything is jingled together.
Even now I have so much to say. The parkway. The basement at the elementary. The send off. The moving. The sexuality. They darkness. The depression. The dancing. The curiosity. The principal. Hiding under the desk. The gifted program. The dancing. The willingness. The ducks. The parties. The men. The lamp. Sergio. The face touch. The blood. The penthouse. The club. The drinks. The promises. The moments. The warnings. The desires. The memories. The tattoo. The dildos. The performance. The chat rooms. The meet ups. The hospital visits. The blood stains. The positions. The rooms. The timing. The willingness. The stretching. The exam. The scared nights. The scary movies. The drunken adults. The lumber jacks. The cia. Rox. The satanic worship. The rape of him. The unknown history of my family. The wealthy in Georgetown. The dress up. The music. The handball. The four square. The singing. The dancing. The sodomites. The teachers. The screams. The need for me. The desire for me. The bartenders. The p’mers. The stomach aches. The separation. The piss. The dark. The bath. The blue outfit. The men. The bus ride. The taxi ride. The train. The massage parlor. The neighbor. The chat rooms. The men. The parkway. The basement. The hallway. The grandparents. The crib. The dreams. The screams. The fear. The bus. The bubbles. The drinks. The cops. The piercings. The drives.
Nothing happened to me ever. I was never molested. I was never raped. I was never taken advantage of. I was protected from everything and anything.
However, by the time I was 16, I was heavily and deeply knowledgeable and accustomed to just about any and everything sexually in any and all parts of my body and also more than willing.
And I had tried committing suicide 3 times and lived with chronic stomach issues for the majority of my child hood.
For what reason I have no memory.
Cathy says to write. Write and your brain will think logically. And you will remember.
There’s so much, I don’t know where to start or what to write about. It’s different on a phone cause I can go back and add or re word and re order. I’m doing this tonight cause I don’t have a notepad. But it’s all out of order on paper and in my head. But if I write, even if out of order, maybe I’ll remember. I don’t even know why I’m posting.
But I have to unravel it. Beginning to end or not in order. There’s a lot of clarity but not a lot of memory.
And how and why does that make sense? It doesn’t.
So forgive me for this blog, for it will more than likely weave a tale that doesn’t make sense and is probably not true.
Or is that my alter telling me I will never remember. Cathy O’Brien says write. And I will.
Was I an mkultra/ human trafficking subject in the 90s and 2000s?
I hope to find an answer.

2024.05.07 10:53 AgogeProject Hyrox lessons learnt that led to 25 minute improvement

Morning all,
I thought I'd throw in my experience so hopefully people can learn from it.
I did my first Hyrox last October 23 in Dublin and got 1:54 as my time and just did London Olympia this last weekend (May 24) and did it in 1:29 resulting in a 25 minute improvement.
Here's what I did:
  1. Focused my training on running
I'm not a runner, more of a strength person so was humbled in my first hyrox when I cramped up in the run and was very fatigued early in the race after the sleds.
I started a 12 week focused plan (12 weeks out) back in February and did 1 longer run (10-12km) per week at a slow Zone 2 pace focusing on nasal only breathing and holding myself back from getting into a higher zone and running faster for the sake of ego. Improved my 10k time from 62mins down to 53mins over the 12 week training period.
I also did a shorter run weekly, usually about 5-7km. This was often a trail run with some hills again, focusd on staying slow and in Z2.
I did a focused speed / interval session weekly. Either on a track or on a curved manual treadmill. (all running that I did do indoors was in fact on a curved manual treadmill, i found it's harder than both a standard treadmill and running outdoors, it's always free and is great for hyrox simulations where you need to do an interval after doing sled or rowing or burpees and don't want to wait for the treadmill to speed up)
The interval sessions started with 400m repeats and increased by 200m weekly until it go to 1200m where I did 1x 1200m followed by 4x 400m and repeated that 3 times. This is where i focused on running faster and understanding my pacing.
  1. Kept strength training to a minimum
As I mentioned, I've historically been a strength athlete. Squat, Bench Deadlift kinda guy with some conditioning thrown in for good measure.
For this training block I wanted to maintain or only slightly increase strength and it was secondary to building up my aerobic base.
So I did 2x full body workouts per week. Minimalist training doing Front Squat and Overheard Press with barbell and then Full Pull ups as my pulling exercise. 5 sets of 5 reps in Weeks 1 and 2 and then 5 sets of 3 reps in week 3. This would repeat in a 3 week cycle at 75, 80 and 85% of 1RM. Pull ups I just did as many reps as possible in good form. Chest to bar.
Depending on how much time I had left in my alloted 1 hour training slot, I'd do a quick circuit after my full body session. Usually a medley of KB swings, Dips, Box jumps, Push ups, walking lunges, wall balls, etc.
This would be something like 3 rounds of 15 reps each on 3-4 exercises. Nothing complicated.
I always rowed 1km as my warm up before the strength workout as well.
I chose Front Squat and Overheard Press over my usual Back Squat and Bench Press to keep the overall load and stress on my body lower to allow for better recovery for the running.
  1. I built a race strategy
This likely had the biggest impact on the improved time. You can only get so much fitter in 6 months.
First Hyrox, I did quite a few things wrong. I did an extra lap on the first run. I tried to carry the rope back on the sled pull. I pulled the sled with my arms on the sled pull. I ran the wrong way one when leaving a station. I stopped for water. I walked in the roxzone.
I analysed my performance first time and set myself the target of 1:30 believing I could get close to that just by being more efficient.
Here's my strategy on a page:
  1. Pace your first and second runs so you can come into the sled push as fresh as possible.
I made sure to stand at the back of the start tunnel to allow everyone else to bolt out and just jog out and not get pulled into running too fast.
Nice and easy log pulls on the ergs. You won't make up much time on ergs. Slow is smooth and smooth is fast. Know what pace is comfortable for you. I did about 2:15 odd on the Ski and 2:08ish on the Row. For context, I'd usually row at about 1:53 in my 1k warm ups.
  1. I stopped and took a short break at the mid point of each sled push. I read this a few times online and decided I'd try it out. I could of gone the whole length but I think this made it ultimately faster.
First Hyrox I sled pushed it until i fatigued and rested as long as I thought necessary.
This time, a short breath and break at the mid point meant my breaks were shorter. Did 4:17 first time and did 3:28 the second time.
  1. Learnt how to do the sled pull with the walking back technique and rope management.
First hyrox I pulled the sled with just my arms. It blew up my arms and was super hard (albeit I got some great pictures out of it). This time I did the pulling and walking back technique. And had practiced managing the rope.
First hyrox: 7.12 -> 4.52. Big improvement and was much much less fatigued.
  1. Did the stepping up one leg followed by the second leg on the burpees.
I only came across this a week before the race so had only practiced it once but again trusted that it was a better way then jumping up, I implmented it and overtook quite a few people on the burpees.
First hyrox 6:56 -> 4.28.
  1. Did not walk at all
First hyrox I had a Rox time total of 9:16. I'm not sure what it was this time as the stats aren't there but I'm sure it's half that.
I made sure to run all the way up to my station, so run right through to you get to your erg or sled or wall ball and ran between the sled pulls back and forth and immediately started running when finishing the exercise, out through the exercise zone and running through the rox zone. I didn't stop for any water at all (make sure you hydrate well before).
Even after the sled, where the run was a slow slow jog after I'd just pushed it across the line, it's faster than a walk.
  1. Had a wall ball strategy
I'd decided I had to do the wall balls in 6 minute. I think I'd worked out the math or something so that was the number in my head. I'd calculated that would be a EMOM of 16 reps. So to hit 6 mins you'd need to do 16 reps every minute on the minute.
I ultimately decided to start strong with 20 reps and then drop to 15 reps for 4 sets and then finish with a strong push of 20 reps again. And starting each set at the top of the minute.
In the race I ended up starting on 20 and then doing sets of 16 as I was feeling good and that allowed my final set to be a few less reps.
I'd timed everything on my watch so I knew running into the wall balls that I had about 6:30 to hit my goal and honestly, I was dreading the wall balls the whole run up to them and tried to speed up a fraction to give myself a bit more time.
First Hyrox 8:36 -> 5:51 so a big improvement.
  1. Final way I trained was I did a weekly Hyrox simulation
So every saturday for me I did some form of Hyrox sim. Either the first half or the second half. Or a focused session on my weaknesses. Basically this was to get used to running after the exercise (aka compromised running) and used to the distance or race weights and the movements.
I did a full hyrox sim in week 10 of my plan as well.
I did a full taper in the week before hyrox.
I also ended up only sleeping 4 hours the night before hyrox due to my cat going missing and my wife being super stressed (he came back next day) so wasn't anticipating a great time due to fatigue but it all worked out.
Hopefully this post helps.
My running was still slow by many standards. I'd actually hoped to get closer to 5:30 per km but ended up on about 6:15ish.
So if I wanted to get an even better time, running is still what needs to be improved.
If I could ultimately get it to 5:30 I'd shave off an additional 6 minutes exclusing any savings in the roxzone.
Hopefully this helps someone.

# Team Δ Comment Record
1 Dodgers +2 The Dodgers go into this next week after having swept the Braves and stepping on the sneks. They lead the league in run differential by a significant margin and seem to only be heating up. BlaQ Treinen hasreturning and not to mention Walker frickin Buehler returning after basically 2 years on the IL. I hope this team continues to prove they deserve the hype because damn us fans have been feasting lately. 23-13
2 Orioles +2 Wow some insane starting pitching this week. Was good to see Bradish and Means come back and pitch incredibly well. The Orioles starters over the last 20 games have a 2.55 ERA, and over the last 7 it's barely above a 1.00. Now to think that can continue is a big stretch, however we now have a rotation of Burnes, Rodriguez (when off the IL), Bradish, Means, Irvin and Kremer. I don't think it'll stay a six-man rotation, but who knows. Either way it was fun to watch this week. Westburg also is quietly putting together a solid first full season. He is much better than I thought he would be as an everyday player. This week it is the surprising Nationals and the slumping D-Backs, with a couple of days off thrown in. Hopefully we can go 4-1. 23-11
3 Phillies +3 The Phillies have the best record in baseball in May on the back of winning 16 of 19 after starting the season at 8-8. Granted, it hasn't been against the best teams, but it hasn't all been against cellar dwellers. They're propelled largely by the red hot Alec Bohm and his 18 game hitting streak. He has a 1.278 OPS with RISP and leads the league in average and RBIs. He flashed a bit of this potential in his rookie 2020 season, but this is next level. The bad news is that Trea Turner is set to miss around six weeks with a hamstring strain. They have good depth in Whit Merrifield and Edmundo Sosa, but losing Turner and him losing his own momentum will hurt. This week, one more against the Giants before a 2 game set against Toronto, followed by 3 in Miami. 24-11
4 Yankees -2 A sweep against Detroit is a sign for optimism, taking one of four against Baltimore is scary. Rizzo and Soto are both firing off right now, and Judge is steadily picking up the pace. Luis Gil seems to be a massive positive surprise, and Lord knows we could use another solid starter. Clay Holmes is the epitome of lights out, probably the hottest player on the team at the moment. The whole rotation has an ERA between 3.00 and 4.00, which is perfectly decent and sure to get better when Cole returns and relegates [redacted] to the bullpen. We play Houston starting on Tuesday, and I’m expecting the Bleacher Creatures to directly quote Kendrick Lamar’s recent diss tracks to Astros players. Ahem... Them cheating powers gettin’ neutralized, I can only watch in silence, the famous Astros we once knew is lookin’ paranoid and spiralin’. You’re movin’ like a trash can beater, every sign is feelin’ stolen. I calculate you’re not as calculated, you can’t even predict my every fastball. 23-13
5 Braves -4 Oof. This week sucked. It really really sucked. But we have played three first place teams in a row, including 6 games on a west coast road trip. This is one of the toughest 9 game stretches any team will play all year. We will be ok. This team is built to win, and they will. Everybody calm down. 20-12
6 Guardians -1 What a shitty week. The Braves series was a nightmare and we only won one game by one run in extra innings. Same with the Astros, who finally appeared to be bad. Then my streak of the Guardians winning games I go to died when they were playing the Angels, who I actually thought WERE bad. At that game, they got shut out. Then after that, they won the two games I didn't go to this past weekend. Maybe that's a sign of them coming back to life. 22-12
7 Brewers 0 The Brewers were on the wrong end of some poor umpiring and close loses this week, which I suppose beats being the poor umpiring and blowout losses of last week. Fortunately, their strong start to the season is keeping them on top of the division as they try to bounce back against the Royals and Cardinals this week. 20-13
8 Cubs 0 Another week, another 2 games the Cubs lost because the bullpen could not hold a lead. It now seems that no lead is safe, because nearly every game where the Cubs have a lead ends up with Hector Neris performing a high-wire act in the 9th inning. While he has gotten out of it more times than not, it is clearly unsustainable and not helping the cardiac health of the Northside. Furthermore, seemingly the entire offense has gone quiet, with numerous key players being mired in massive slumps. Despite all these woes, the Cubs went 4-3 behind a rotation that has been lights out, allowing just 4 ER in 7 games. The rotation will also get a large boost with the return of Justin Steele, who has been on the IL since opening day with a hamstring strain. He will look to get back on track as the Cubs play 3 against the Padres in Wrigley before a 3 game set in Pittsburgh. 21-14
9 Twins +6 The streak is over, but 12 wins in a row has given this team a completely different look. These are the Twins we were promised going into the season, and despite our slow start, we've dug ourselves out of that early hole and are ready to compete. The offense has come to life, and as we're getting our injured guys back things are only getting better in Minnesota. 19-14
10 Rangers +1 Pitching is continuing to wear thin after another starter hitting the DL, this time with Eovaldi being forced out due to groin issues. Wyatt Langford will be joining that list too today due to his hamstrings. The injury luck has not been on the Ranger's side this year so far. 3 series wins in a row though has helped. 19-16
11 Mariners +1 Braves? Handled. Astros? Dumped on. This team continues to cruise along, getting their series win streak up to six. The starter 2 ER streak has ended, but the rotation overall is still looking like 4 Cy Young candidates and a far-exceeding expectations Hancock. Woo likely makes his return during the next homestand, and I expect Hancock will be sent back down, but he's done a hell of a job. Still waiting on the offense to click (Rojas aside, who is sneakily having a ridiculous season so far), but hopefully they show up soon. Also, welcome to my first week of more accurate ratings this season - I definitely didn't accidentally forget to update a few of my formulas to point to this year's stats instead of last year's, that would be very stupid of me! Up next: 4 @ Minnie Soda, 3 vs. SELL THE TEAMs 19-15
12 Royals -2 The news that the Royals were interested in Luis Arraez speaks volumes. A fast start seemingly has the front office thinking big and dreaming of a run through October. It also would appear to signal that the Royals are going to be making moves to improve the roster. Let's see where they are in June, but this could be a fun trade deadline. 20-15
13 Red Sox -4 Dear Dobert, I'll never forget the day you first graced our roster, August 30th, 2020. You showed us your long ball swing, and that day a city fell in love. For some, these feelings faded as the years went by, the honeymoon period receding as the all-too-usual resentment began to set in, but not I. I choose to remember the 46 dingers, not the 369 strikeouts. I saw you when you came back this year with improved defense. I know in my heart that you were just one game away from breaking out. May you mash for the rest of your days in AAA my sweet prince. 19-16
14 Padres +5 Prellar gets a lot of deserved hate from our community, including from myself, so it takes a lot for me to admit when it seems that he's right about something. Prospects are just that, so we won't know for years what they turn out to be, and if the deal was worth it in retrospect. The best Padre Prospect in the deal is Dillon Head, a 19 year old outfield in Lake Elsinore (High A), so a few years away from the majors at least. One of Prellar's biggest faults as a gm has been the lack of depth, and the results of a star-studded lineup without the depth to back them up. So, the depth here of a certified major league contact bat in Luis Arraez is greatly appreciated. He had an amazing debut in Az on Saturday too, going 4/6 with an rbi. With the Padres not looking to enter the luxury tax again (and face the repeater's tax), their options had seemed limited in what they could do here. Well, the Marlins are paying almost all of Arraez's salary along in the deal...Props to Prellar. The Pads couldn't quite sweep the snakes or the Reds, but 2 outta 3 aint bad, man. 18-19
15 Tigers -1 Riley Greene is blossoming right before our very eyes. If you haven't been paying attention, this is your offical notice to see the improvements the very-soon-to-be All Star is making. Terrorizing baseballs in the zone, being more selective on pitches to damage, and taking his walks at the plate, Greene is slashing .269/.397/.538 while still recovering from Tommy John surgery. This week: 3 at CLE, 3 vs. HOU. 18-16
16 Rays +4 Cash is now the winningest manager in Rays history. Someone shouted "Do a kickflip!" at Jonny DeLuca and he landed it with his eyes closed. Randy hit a clutch HR. Our city connects are literally fire. Josh Lowe is coming back. The Rays may never lose again. 17-18
17 Mets -1 The Mets look like a thoroughly mid team. Pitching prospect Christian Scott has joined our rotation and had a great debut over the weekend, Adrian Houser has been sent to the bullpen. We played every day this week and went 2-5. Candidly, I'm having a lot of trouble paying attention to a 16-18 Mets team during a Knicks playoff run - hopefully the season isn't completely lost by the time they have my undivided attention again. 16-18
18 Reds -5 Aghast, the Reds dost most sucketh. Nay, 'tis but our offense that doth sucketh, whilst thine pitching hast been merely passable. 'Tis a troubling trend indeed, for each encounter with a formidable foe doth render us as naught but children seeking a place at the grown-ups' table. 'Tis not a comforting sight. The entirety of thine offense seemeth to have abandoned us. Thy dost witnessed the contest yester against the Orioles, and verily, it appeared mostest that we surrendered upon the first inning's conclusion. Thee doth wish for improvement upon the return of more players, yet if the absence of but three offensive players doth plunge our entire offense into oblivion, then verily, our situation is most direst. The Orioles hath thoroughly bested us as if we were mere peasants, and truth be told, thy am somewhat perplexed as to our course of action. A harsh sequence of matches doth loomest ahead, but that is a matter for the week hence. 16-18
19 Nationals +5 TBH this team is better than I expected. They're so scrappy and their ability to get on base and steal bases is really impressive. The pitching still leaves a lot to be desired (they employ Patrick Corbin for Christ's sake) but that's not the final form. Jacob Young finally got caught stealing this week and hasn't stolen a base since April 29. I'm also really sad that Tanner Rainey is ass cheeks now. He can't even pitch in a blowout. 17-17
20 D-Backs -2 The Diamondbacks had another bad week, dropping three-game series to both the Dodgers and the Padres. The offense is anemic on nights it's not scoring over 10 runs and the bullpen remains inexplicably bad no matter who is put in or taken out of it. The good news is the team is starting to get healthy, but it may be too big of a hole for the snakes to slither out of. 15-20
21 Blue Jays -4 Remember that scene in Dumb and Dumber where the hitman thinks he's pulled one over on Lloyd and Harry, but instead he dies because they put hot peppers in his burger as a joke and then accidentally feed him a shit-ton of rat poison? That's the Blue Jays stellar rotation trying to survive in spite of our offense and bullpen right now. Toronto ranks 23rd in runs scored, with 4 of our most important hitters (Vlad, Bo, Springer, Kirk) having career-worst starts to a season. Our bullpen ranks 30th in ERA, 23rd in WHIP, 27th in Ks, and 26th in earned runs given up. This is one of last season's league-best bullpens that returned nearly every piece, btw. Even Sunday's game, where Alek Manoah looked actually serviceable for a few innings and Vladdy hit a grand slam, wound up as a 11-8 loss to cap another lost series. Anyone have any answers? Well, pick 'em up! MOCK! YEAH! ING! YEAH! BIRD! YEAH! 16-19
22 Athletics +5 Bullpen fell off but offense heated up, so only one L (3-12 blowout to the Arraez-less Marlins) with an easy schedule, though we did score 20. Next up, Rangers and Mariners, and will probably drop from contention, but sending Noda and Allen down (along with Boyle soon 🙏) will help that 17-18
23 Pirates -1 The Bucs closed out the week with back-to-back wins, but had lost 5 in a row before that — and scoring runs is still a titanic struggle. The front office is apparently trying to instill a three-true-outcomes approach through the organization, but forgot a crucial ingreditent: hitting home runs. Instead, Pirate hitters either strike out, walk, or hit weak fly balls. The results have been predictably terrible, and if the Pirates can't fix it soon, it's not going to matter when Paul Skenes debuts (it will probably be Friday) 16-19
24 Astros -1 Signs of life - possibly even without playing all our games at high altitude! Jon Singleton has been a bit of a bright spot at first base with Jose Abreu graciously accepting a minor league assignment to work on his play. It's too early to entirely call us alive (see Saturday's shutout as evidence), but there is A New Hope that we might be turning things around. 12-22
25 Giants -4 This hasn't been a particularly fun road trip and I would like it to stop. Losing games, losing players, losing the will to live. Okay, that's enough doom. This Giants team Tortured Catcher's Department is not as bad the results would suggest but at a certain point they have to, you know, win more baseball games. We can throw out like 40 million excuses -- some of them real, some of them from a fever dream when I napped for 6 hours yesterday instead of watching the game --but, at the end of the day, the Giants just have to play better. On paper, this roster is competent and competitive but the truth about Rock-Paper-Scissors is that everything beats paper. What sort of weak-ass rock is gonna lose to paper? "Oh no, you've covered me. Wow, you're so strong. GG." Get out of here with this paper team apologia. It's May you jackdaws. Play better. Be better. Congrats ownership, you've put together one of the more excicting rosters in recent memory and gotten the fans to come back in good numbers. Y'all own like an entire neighborhood in the city now but this isn't a ranking of which real estate investment group is the best at pretending to be a baseball team. Let them take Greyhound home so they can ponder their mistakes in life. 15-20
26 Cardinals -1 They're partying like it's 2023 in St. Louis as they lose back to back series to the Tigers and White Sox halting any momentum that seemed to have existed for this club. The schedule doesn't exactly relent this week as they host the Mets and then head to Milwaukee for 4. 15-19
27 Angels -1 Mike Trout's latest injury comes at an inopportune time. Not because this team was going anywhere—no, this team's fate was sealed long ago—but it was nice to at least have one watchable and fun thing. Now this team is down to...well...I am not exactly sure. At risk of jinxing any other performances after Reid Detmers, now with an ERA over 4, and Jo Adell, 3 for his last 27, and of course Mike Trout, out for an uncertain length of time, I'll stick with pointing out the futlity of it all for this week. 12-22
28 Marlins +1 So long Lucho, well miss you. The return for Arraez seems a bit light given the fact that we had to pay some of his contract but that largely hinges on whether Head will end up being good (hehe). Rumors are that Jazz will be moved next, but well see how that goes. Thank god the Panthers are whippin ass this season cuz the fish are just tragic this year. That being said we got some good news on luzardo and braxton, theyre doing well on their rehab assignments and will be rejoining the team soon. Burger will also be joining us in the near future but hes still got some rehab assignmtents to work through before that happens. Our first series win of the season was also a sweep! The fish continue to be the better 93 expansion team compared to the rox. Sweepy bays for blood. This week we got 3 in LA against the trolley bois and then we head back home for a 3 game series against the phillies. 10-26
29 White Sox +1 The White Sox are at the bottom of the league in wRC+ and have the third worst ERA in the league. They are 5-5 in their last 10 games (thanks to a 3 game sweep of the Rays the previous weekend), but there is still no optimism for any part of this organization. The most interesting thing that happened this week was when there was a 3 hour rain delay with 1 out to go in the 10th inning and then there was a horrible called third strike on the first batter after the delay. I got bored just writing that. 8-26
30 Rockies -2 On Friday, we won a game while never trailing for the first time all season. We promptly lost the next two. All you can do is laugh. 8-26

2024.05.06 04:25 dasleepyguy Starting Queso Canyon - need advice moving forward

Recently promoted to Duke (2%) after returning from hiatus for 8 years (stopped playing at Baron (0%)) right before the Spring Egg Hunt event. Just finished the adventure books for Warpath, Fort Rox, Balack, Zurreal, Mystic & Technic Kings, and Claw Shot City to get to where I am currently.
I think I need advice on where to go since since I just barely finished Warpath 2x and only roughly 60% of Muridae Market (since I read that the papyrus base isn't nice anymore). Also opened a Ardous Treasure Map that needs 4 mice from the Queso Geyser, which is why I started this Queso Canyon trip instead of the Living Garden path. The only mice left are the ones at the geyser and currently, my team doesn't have anyone who can go there immediately.
I need advice on how to optimize my time here in Queso Canyon. Currently now at level 6 pumping but has not yet attempted Inferna with 1.3k bland queso. I have 172 mild leaves, 48 medium leaves, 12 hot leaves, and 41 flamin' leaves from doing the past spring egg hunt event. My plan so far was to create more hot queso to target the 50 nachore mice but then seeing that 12 hot leaves will force me to go through prickly plains, I'm now targetting to craft the flamin' queso to get the 1200 nachore requirement for the key to the geyser. Are there any advice on how to shorten the time to lessen the pumps without needing to leech from the queso maps? (currently locked in with 2 maps that are near completion that I hesitate to throw away).
Current strongest traps of each type:
Physical - Jacked Rabbot Trap (contemplating if Sandtail Sentinel or SandStorm Monstrobot are worth building) Tactical - Sphynx Wrath Trap Hydro - Oasis Water Node Trap Shadow - Interdimensional Crossbow Trap Arcane - Droid Arcmagus Trap Forgotten - Tarranosauraus Rex Trap Dragon - Ice Maiden Trap Law - Queso Factory Trap Rift - none yet
Base - Marble Cake Base (noteable mention that I have the spellbook base before I went into hiatus)
What are your recommendations for me to focus on after completing the Ardous Treasure Map moving forward?

2024.04.22 23:45 Stephrockryanlauren Raising the bars

I own a 2023 Trident 660 I wanted to raise the bars but had limited space as the clutch cable and hydraulic front brake line are too short. I was able to squeeze in a pair of 1 1/8” raisers I bought from Amazon (Xitomer) for 25 dollars or so, they fit but still wanted more rise.
Talking to the Triumph shop in town, they said I’d need to send my stock clutch cable and brake line to Motion Pro and have them make some longer ones. They also said the all the wires would have to be lengthened. I was also told ABS system required a particular order to bleed.
Looking at the way the factory routed all the cables I noticed they are all in front of the crown. Thinking I might be able to reroute ‘em, I started with the throttle side and realized it could be done. I had to remove the bar weight and was able to slide the whole assembly off the handlebars. I had to loosen the turn signal indicator on the forks to get the assembly between forks and presto I had another several inches to work with. The clutch side was even easier. Having bought an extra clutch cable and front brake line, I called Motion Pro and was told 4-6 weeks and 200 for each new part. I din’t want to wait two month or spend $400 I found another company in Ventura Ca, Barnett Tool, who told me one week and 150 for both!I bought a pair of ROX risers 3 1/2” got the new parts from Barnett and dove in. Replacing the clutch cable was straight forward enough. I was concerned about the ABS system but soon learned the shop was mistaken. Had to remove the tank cover (easy enough as there’s actually a video on YouTube showing how to do that). The actual gas tank has only three bolts holding it down and was able to access the banjo bolt where it connects to the brake line splitter. I removed the line to the front brake reservoir and was surprised how little brake fluid came out. I installed the new brake hose then started the bleeding process. No problem at all. Everything works and I couldn’t be happier.

2024.04.18 21:45 Junekri Trip Report 13 Days March 2024: Kyushu (Fukuoka, Kurume, Kagoshima, Yakushima, Kirishima) and Tokyo PART 2

I had originally drafted my trip report in one post and had to separate them due to the character limit but the formatting got a bit messed up, apologies! Part 1 can be found here
DAY 8: Kichijoji, Tokyo
While walking to breakfast we were tempted by the smell of donuts at PIECE OF BAKE. They were fluffy and filled with cream, this style seems to be trendy as we saw it a few times. Recommend! We continued to get in a line that we thought was for Satou Kichijōji, but actually was for a sweet shop next door, Ozasa. After getting in the correct line we bought their famous beef croquettes. They'd been sold to me as extraordinary and while they were really good they weren't able to live up to the hype for me personally.
After the croquette we walked to Inokashira Park and began heading to the Ghibli Museum. The walk was lovely, I really love this park, with lots of flowers and many ducks. I especially loved passing all the people sitting in the sun reading books on park benches. We stopped at Inokashira Benzaiten, a Buddhist temple in the park by the lake. I don't know if they normally write goshuin stamps directly into your book but when I handed my book to them they spoke to someone in the back and told me to come back in a few minutes.
My husband has never seen a Ghibli movie and isn't into anime so I had just gotten a ticket for myself while he could do some exploring on his own. I lined up around 15 minutes early for my 12pm time slot, at which point there was already a fairly substantial queue. I think the people behind me had a later slot and after showing the attendant their ticket he pulled them out of the line.
To get my ticket I had three devices open, two phones and one computer, and signed into the website 30 minutes early. One of the phones randomly disconnected and had to be refreshed, for some reason that was the device that got the best number in line (7000 something). The other two devices got 13000 and 15000 if I remember correctly.
I've loved Miyazaki movies since discovering a VHS copy of Kiki's Delivery Service at my library as a child but the museum was not for me. I'm not upset about my visit since the cost was very low and I'd wanted to go for awhile, but I doubt I'll go back. As other people have reported it was very noisy and crowded with long lines for everything. It's a lovely space and with fewer people it would have been fantastic, people with a higher tolerance for crowds may enjoy it more. I think the short film alone was worth the price of admission (adorable sumo mice!) but I didn't stay long.
My disappointment was lifted when upon leaving from the museum I was greeted by several cherry blossom trees in full bloom. I'm fairly confident they were cherry blossoms since the flowers had the notches in the center of the petals, I'm no tree expert though. The trees were full of birds eating nectar, it was magnificent. We were too early for full cherry blossom season so I felt very grateful to be able to take photos and enjoy the ambiance.
After meeting back up with my husband we grabbed a drink at Craft Beer Market Atre, which had an excellent selection of Japanese craft beers, and then went to Nakano Broadway for shopping. I had read you could buy used watches there and wanted to get one for him as a present. Unfortunately I know nothing about watches and did not realize that even the cheapest ones were several THOUSAND dollars, which was more than I had to spend. Instead we window-shopped, looked at a bunch of anime figurines, and played a confusing quasi-gambling game with coins.
For dinner we walked to my favorite izakaya, Bakawarai Junsui. I went here on my first trip to Japan and it's now a staple of any visit, it is the absolute best. The staff are incredibly welcoming and the food is amazing. I swear the friendliness is infectious as I always end up laughing and joking with the other patrons, if you do come here definitely sit at the bar if you can. There isn't an English menu but if you tell the staff what you like they make great recommendations. We ate our way through sashimi, steak, this amazing cheese-honey thing, curry potatoes, and their signature omelet. After a lot of laughing and joking we ended the night taking tequila shots with the staff. At first my husband was a little confused why this was a required excursion, but by the end of the evening he was converted. If you're going to be in Kichijoji in the late afternoon/evening for the Ghibli Museum I highly recommend this place for dinner.

DAY 9: Asakusa, Tokyo
We said goodbye to Kichijoji and headed to Asakusa View Hotel to drop off our luggage. An imposingly large hotel with fancy lobby, it was surprisingly cheap (something like $80 per night). It had a checkout time of 12pm, the latest of our trip. We were upgraded to an executive suite on the 24th floor, the room was narrow but the view was impressive. They also offered the most bonus amenities like a bunch of skincare samples and bath salts, and when we accidentally left some things they held them for us, I'd recommend this place.
The train ride was fine but at some of our transfers we weren't able to find elevators and had to carry our luggage up several flights of stairs. It could have been worse, we only had a backpack and small roller bag each, but still wasn't ideal. We also noticed that it is the custom to flip your backpack around to your front to make sure you don't accidentally knock into anyone.
To my surprise I did not like Asakusa as a whole. It was crowded and had restaurants that seemed to have inflated prices. The hotel was neat and it was really cool to spend a night so high up, but if I could do it over I would have skipped staying there and added an extra night in Kichijoji. Even when we walked around at night or early in the morning it was already busy. I had heard Asakusa was nice to stay in because it's quieter than Shinjuku or Shibuya, and I guess by comparison it probably is, but if you want things more mellow I'd stay elsewhere.
We first went to a sushi restaurant to meet our guide for a food tour I booked through AirBNB. On the tour we had sushi, soba, taiyaki and matcha ice cream, and for the first time on a tour we were paired with other tourists. It's slightly more geared for first-time travelers to Japan but I think it was worth the cost, at the sushi place we tried selections we would not have picked on our own. Tuna head meat is shockingly tasty! The guide also made an effort to make recommendations for things to do around Tokyo which I appreciated.
After the tour we picked up shichimi togarashi at Yagenbori and some lovely pottery at Dengama, my favorite being a crescent moon and bunny chopstick rest. In the evening we checked out ALL (W)RIGHT -sake place-, a sake brewery that makes doburoku. Doburoku is a very traditional style of sake where the rice and rice molt are fermented but not strained. I consider myself a fan of sake, and while this is not my favorite style it was really cool to try it. They have other styles as well and you can tell they experiment (for instance they had an IPA sake with CBD).
For dinner I had put "find something good on hoppy street!" in the itinerary which not the correct choice. Places were full, the ones that had space seemed overpriced, so we wandered back towards our hotel getting increasingly hangry. We settled on a teppanyaki place with good reviews. They almost turned us a away for being full but after deliberating for a minute said they could squeeze us in. I'm not going to call them out by name as I don't think we had a fair experience to judge them. The food was fine, not terrible but not really worth the price in my opinion, but what really colored the evening was how stressed all the staff seemed.
Our server American, and while I appreciate that he explained they were having a really tough night we probably wouldn't have noticed so it mainly served to make us feel really guilty for inconveniencing them. He also said they partially took us because he had had so many negative experiences being turned away at restaurants for being a foreigner even though he spoke fluent Japanese, and he didn't want us to think that's why they said they were full. Honestly we wouldn't have thought that way, and everywhere that turned us away on our trip appeared legitimately full, but still a nice gesture. Both him and the hostess apologized a bunch and gave us multiple gifts as we left, including a neat fold-out card with a hanging crane that is now displayed in our room, but I still feel guilty for adding to their stress and wish we had just made a reservation or gone to a different area.

DAY 10: Ebisu, Tokyo
I was up earlier then my husband and decided to try Cafe Tomorrow Asakusa as I was craving a traditional Japanese breakfast. I should have been wary after I saw it only cost 880 yen, but it was still a letdown after how spectacular our breakfasts were at the ryokan and in Yakushima. It did, however, fill me up and was extremely cheap so I'm not upset. It opens at 7am and when I got there at 730 it was already pretty full, but the time I left at 815 there was a line down the stairs. If you're looking for a budget breakfast option this would be a good place.
My husband wanted a large meal before playing soccer later so we packed our things and walked to Suke6 Diner. We had a short wait but it wasn't bad, and the diner is in a nice location by the river. He had a "full English breakfast" which didn't quite live up to the name but was still good, and I had a chocolate croissant. Croissant was 10/10, I wish I had ordered a bunch to go.
Feeling reticent to schlep our luggage on the trains again we opted to take a taxi to our AirBNB in Ebisu. I picked the location for it's price and because I'd heard Ebisu is a nice area, somewhat close to Shinjuku but not too close. On my first trip I had exclusively stayed in AirBNBs and found I enjoyed the experience of pretending to live in Tokyo so I wanted my husband to have that too, but I think AirBNBs have changed in the last 6 years. This one was nice but really just felt like a slightly larger hotel room, with the added benefit of a very fancy washedryer in the room. It was a single machine that does both! I'm sure that technology exists in the US, and there's probably a reason they aren't common here, but I thought it was super cool and want one. On the plus side the host let us check-in three hours early and I loved how quiet and residential the area was.
My husband left to play soccer with a group he found on Meetup (an experience he really loved and recommends) while I went to IBREW EBISU. I love craft beer, especially IPAs, and found this to be a cool place. It did take me embarrassingly long to find as it's two floors down from street-level, and I struggled to open the heavy metal doors and thought they might be locked, but those minor hurdles made finding the bar more satisfying. Great selection, various price points, shockingly good falafel. I read my book and had a few beers before heading back.
My husband is a diehard Arsenal fan so after resting we left to check out HIGHBURY -THE HOME OF BEER- in Shinjuku. While trying to navigate we got terribly lost in Shinjuku station and spent a good 20 minutes attempting to locate our transfer. There were lots of signs but I think because of the construction that is happening they aren't always accurate. After exiting to the street and walking a few blocks we did manage to find the connection and get to the bar. The theming of the bar is very cool but we unfortunately happened to go on a night where someone was doing an unrelated presentation on Chinese beer so it wasn't the 'meet local Arsenal fans!' experience I was hoping for. The staff was polite and answered his questions about the memorabilia, the bathroom is especially themed, so we stayed for one beer and left.
We strolled to Shinjuku station, admiring the bright lights and party atmosphere, before making our way home. I had put "find something at the Ebisu yokocho!" for dinner but by the time we made it back most places were last-call or closed. While walking to the apartment we came across Taihouki Gyoza and picked it mostly because it stayed open until 3am. The place was packed with people, the food was hearty but nothing extraordinary, we had a nice time.

DAY 11: Ebisu, Tokyo
My husband was feeling rather sore from soccer so I walked to Sarutahiko Coffee for coffee while he rested. The weather was perfect, I passed a small pond filled with aquatic plants and fish, it was just one of those lovely Tokyo experiences you get from just wandering through residential neighborhoods. Sarutahiko was pretty busy despite being quite literally next to a Starbucks and Blue Bottle Coffee, the coffee and the guava cake were both good.
In the early afternoon we went to Takeshita Street in Harajuku which was completely packed to the gills with people. We did a bit of shopping and then walked to Oreryu Shio-Ramen for spicy fried chicken and cheese ramen. They are cash only and at this point of the trip we were getting low, but we managed to pay with a bunch of leftover coins. The ramen was quite good, I'd put it below Seiyoken but above Ichiran.
We started walking to Meiji Shrine, this area was also pretty packed. We ended up paying to go into the gardens hoping for more quiet, something similar to Sengan-en, but I think March might be the worst time to visit. Everything was brown, very few flowers, and any tranquility was overshadowed by a loud concert happening in Yoyogi Park. We turned around before reaching the shrine, I think we either should have gone there first before shopping or visited early in the morning.
We had 2pm tickets to TeamLab Borderless so we headed there next. I had decided on Borderless instead of Planets because I don't love getting my feet wet, and I thought it would be cool to check out Borderless right after it reopened. The space is located inside a mall so be mindful about giving yourself time to navigate, it's not a standalone building. I had heard there were long lines to get in but there weren't any for us, we were able to drop off our shopping bags at complimentary lockers and walk straight in.
Borderless was excellent, if you go make sure to take your time with the different rooms. I wish we had been slightly less tired when we went, by this point in the trip our feet were pretty sore. I recommend the experience but wouldn't necessarily go again unless it was changed significantly. The previous day I had made a dinner reservation for Mizunotori (previously GEM by moto). It was easy to make one through Google, but don't be like me and tell yourself that the reservation was for 630 when you had actually made it for 6! They graciously still sat us and were nice about my error. This was an awesome restaurant, really delicious food and a great place to get exposed to different types of sake. My husband is not a sake guy and they were able to find one he liked. We felt a bit underdressed so I'd wear slightly nicer clothes if you come here. The staff was attentive and chatty, they educated us about sake and we stayed until closing.

DAY 12: Asakusa, Tokyo
Our last day(s) were centered around staying at cyashitsu ryokan asakusa, which I had seen recommended on this sub. It's has a minimalist tea house aesthetic, since it was our last night I had booked the room with a private outdoor bath. If you book this room they will warn you that the bathroom is not inside the room, but it's quite literally one door over and we never ran into anyone in the hallway, honestly two of our other hotel rooms had bathrooms that were further away. It was lovely but I don't think it's necessary to get the room with it's own private bath, they have a larger outdoor bath that you can reserve that seemed empty most of the time.
After dropping off our luggage we went to The Burger Craft, picked mostly because of the reviews and proximity to where we were. Service was slow, there was just a cook and a waitress and they were handling both dine-in and take out orders, and my husband and I are split on the food. I loved my Quattro Cheese Burger, he got the BBQ Bacon Cheeseburger and disliked the buns and found it under seasoned. You do have to order a beverage other than water so keep that in mind if you're budgeting.
After lunch we decided to check out the Asakusa Don Quixote and SkyTree. Don Quixote was a zoo but fun, we picked up gifts for people but actually found a better selection with cheaper prices at Asakusa ROX the following day. At SkyTree my husband attempted to get a ticket to the observation deck but saw the line and decided to skip it, I hate heights and had Starbucks while he investigated.
We explored for a bit, I swear it looked very different in 2017 but that could just be my mind playing tricks on me. While adding money to our IC before getting on the train a solo tourist in front of us in line tried to add money using a credit card but all the charging stations were cash only. She seemed really stressed so we lent her some cash, but another good reason to always carry a bit of cash with you if you don't have Suica on your phone!
We left early to get to Saitamaya Yakiton as it opened at 4pm and I had heard the lineup starts as early as 330pm. It's a bit out of the way to get to, and on this particular windy Monday there was only one person waiting when we got there at 345 so that information may be outdated. We were seated at 4 and they began service, by the time we left around 6 the place was full and there was a line.
If I could only recommend three restaurants to people it would be Umi-no Cottage Tida, Bakawarai Junsui, and this place. You have to order at least one alcoholic beverage, it's also not a great choice if you're a picky eater, but if you're open to trying new things and want a fun night this is the place for it. You get 9 grilled meat skewers, what they are varies but you don't get to pick them, there are also additional small plates you can purchase.
This was the first time I've ever enjoyed liver or intestine, if they normally tasted like this I'd eat them all the time. Also the pig cartilage was unreasonably good?? It's a family run business, no phones or photography is allowed so you get to know your seatmates (we did use our phones to communicate through google translate which was fine), the man on our left has been coming here once a month for 20 years. We showed him our pictures from Yakushima, he showed us pictures of his hometown, it was a nice conversation.
I consumed many lemon sours, my husband found he loved the lemon hoppys, and when we told the owner we were on our honeymoon he grilled us some special wagyu beef which was probably the best single bite of our trip. The owner and his family speak a bit of English but we mostly used our phones to communicate which worked fine.
After resting at our hotel we decided to search for a karaoke bar to finish our trip. I can't find the name of the place but while it was fine I don't think you'd need to add it to a trip plan. There was a sign outside that said 'karaoke!' so we went in, but after sitting down we found out the karaoke started at 9 which was in about an hour and a half. We decided to stay, had a few more drinks and some snacks, only to discover at 9 that the karaoke was in a separate small space down the street that you rented by the hour.
I wasn't thrilled with this turn of events, we had really enjoyed singing with others in Yakushima and if we wanted to rent a space to ourselves we could have done that earlier in the night. Looking back I wish we had just said this wasn't what we were looking for and left, but at the time I was worried about coming across as rude so we went along with it. It was fine but the sound quality was worse than the bar in Yakushima. On the bright side it did make me appreciate how nice that place was!

Day 13: Asakusa, Tokyo
Our flight wasn't until 9pm so I had set aside this day for shopping. The breakfast at cyashitsu was very nice although probably ranked lowest of the ryokan breakfasts (Umi-no Cottage Tida first, Anraku Onsen Shumine second), but it was still better than any hotel breakfast I've had in the States. They also very sweetly gave us a special plate wishing us a happy honeymoon and took a polaroid picture of us in our yukata.
I had paid to check out late but we were still almost even more late after I lost track of time in my bath, but we made it downstairs at 11 on the dot. They very nicely agreed to hold our luggage while we went shopping, and made some suggestions on places to go.
We first went to Asakusa ROX, a multi-story shopping mall with a bunch of small shops, mainly to get some children's books for my friend's children. It took us awhile to find the bookstore but while searching for it we found a ton of other rad souvenirs. The bookstore had several bilingual books, which is what I was searching for, so all in all an unexpectedly successful excursion.
We then went to B-Side Label, a really cool sticker store, in Harajuku. I love this store and have been every trip since discovering it, but I usually go to the Kichijoji branch. If you have the option I'd recommend that branch over the Harajuku one as it's a larger store and less crowded. Their other merch is also really neat and the stickers make great gifts.
We started getting hungry around 3, which is no mans land restaurant-wise as many places close after lunch and reopen later for dinner. I had a bunch of restaurants pinned but they all fell into this category so we ended up at Gyukatsu Kyoto Katsugyu Harajuku. There was a short wait but this place was excellent! Instead of pork katsu it's beef, and you grill it at the table over these small pots. Maybe too many options for dipping, it was kind of overwhelming, but that's not a really a complaint per se, and the beef was excellent. When we went to pay there was a group of tourists ahead of us that got frustrated with the staff when they couldn't split their bill three ways so maybe keep that in mind if you're a larger group.
After our late lunch we went back to the hotel to pick up our luggage and decided to get to the airport early since we were checking bags. The least amount of walking had us taking a bus to Nippori Station and then transferring to the Narita Skyliner, we briefly panicked when the bus took slightly longer then estimated and our transfer window was only 8 minutes but we made it in time!
The Narita Airport is nice, something I read said the food options were better before security so we went to grab dinner and did some last minute Uniqlo shopping where I found the best pair of workpants, I wish I had bought 3 more. Security took roughly 2 minutes, afterwards we did a bit more shopping and loaded up on snacks at the Family Mart.
I liked ZipAir, it's a budget airline but the katsu sandwich was surprisingly good and the service was attentive. We got lucky and there were multiple empty rows so we both moved and slept most of the flight.
STEP COUNT: 18,310
FINAL THOUGHTS: If you've gotten this far I hope you'll find some of it helpful for planning your own trip, my husband and I had an amazing time and are hoping to return soon. If you have any questions please let me know, I'm happy to answer!

2024.04.12 19:53 PondWaterBrackish What fishing stuff do you regret buying as a beginner?

I don't know how many of you guys see the "RoxStar Fly Strikers" on Amazon, but they pop up all the time for me, and they're 'sponsored' by Amazon so they appear higher
RoxStar Fly Strikers or this one, RoxStar Fly Strikers
Well, I saw those things show up for almost a year, and I never thought to buy them because I figured it was a gimmick, but somehow I eventually thought "whatever, let's try it" so they got me to spend the $20 on them
well, so far I haven't caught anything on them, and that's my fault, I'm a terrible fisherman, it's really no reflection on the product
but I still regret buying these things because I realize that they're really no different from any inline spinner with a "dressed" treble hook, at least that's the impression I'm getting
I don't want to blame anyone else for my actions, but fuck Amazon, I don't need to pay a monthly subscription just for me to get pierced through the lip over and over again, and Amazon is toxic in the way that they squash on local businesses
if you make custom inline spinners or something, I'll try to support you guys instead of giving my dollars to rich assholes who don't even pay their delivery drivers

2024.04.08 18:36 Severe-Mycologist-43 Technophobe question

I've done 4* Technophobe in Heavy, Antimatter, Evil, Magic and Standard. Now i start with 5 Soulgems, and my thermal collectors give 145. According to the wiki theres another increase to 6 soul gems, collectors to 150 and more custom race complexity.

2024.04.08 10:48 Kastvaekbruger1234 A historical breakdown: If MSI had been 2 teams from every region all along, here are some of the teams and players we would have seen in action. How do you think would LoL esports history have changed?

Fun to think about. LoL esport history would have changed quite a bit imo.
In this thread, I will only be covering the current 4 major regions but it should be noted that LMS was up there for some of these years as well.

2024.04.07 07:01 No-Bad-3655 My dad needs a hotel before he breaks his leg. URGENT. PLEASE HELP.

Edit: Thanks to u/SavaRox and some sleep I’ve realized there are way better ways to help my dad than 2 days at a hotel, so any help I may get will go to helping him with other more important stuff. Sorry for the poor request
I made a request I think 2 weeks ago for something else that wasn’t important. In that request I noted that my dad had injured his knee. Well this Monday he was showering and slipped. It’s really bad. He tore his kneecap and tendon and should not be walking. But there’s nowhere in our apartment that he can rest that isn’t making it worse. He can’t even walk 10 feet to the bathroom. To make it worse, my mom is forcing him to do everything for her while she sits in the bed and does nothing. My dad keeps getting up and down and walking and I fear he will break his knee and be out of work for months. I asked him to pls get a hotel room to get away from my mom and have a bed to rest in but it turns out he can’t financially do it. I don’t have a job and my mom won’t help bc she basically wants to hurt him. He’s gonna end up stuck on our broken couch for months and I can’t take that. I beg you all to please help. Idk how much it costs but maybe just two days in a hotel will help him heal. I guess that’s like 400$ or less (NY fees). I can’t see my father disabled. I just can’t. I don’t have a job and by the time I could find one it would probably be too late. I tried to find tournaments or things online and I can’t. This is my last resort, and I can’t make another request for 60 days, so this has to work. Please I beg you through your God or whatever you worship, or through the universe, help me save my dad. I have no other options left.
P.s. pls ignore my old request this is all that matters now
