2024.05.18 19:21 Globaltronx đ Enter the Realm of Crestfallen: A Medieval Fantasy Survival Epic Created by a Neuroscientist & Devoted Gamer! âïžđĄïž
Introduction: Good marrow and greetings people of the Realm! My name is Curtis Ashford and I am a game developer, father of 3 (soon to be 4), and Neuroscientist that publishes in Alzheimer's disease research. My background is in making cognitive tests that are used in medical research with a focus on reliability, precision, and accuracy of assessing brain function over time. I have been gaming my whole life, almost 40 years and my early favorites include Sierra's Kings Quest, The Prince of Persia, and Duke Nukem.
A Player Built Throne Room by: Patty Brown (great work!)
Player Built Tavern!! by: Sir Vibes the Positive, created last night!
Snap-able Castle Walls - Lots of Building Pieces by: Player Unknown
I am a huge fan of the early Diablo franchise 1 and 2, World of Warcraft, and survival games like Rust. I try to play almost every title I can get my hands on! Base building in survival games has a special place in my heart and I love the gathering of resources and making something that is functional and I can be proud of. That is what I am trying to capture with my game Crestfallen.
The Graveyard NOOB Starting Area is a Bloodbath, created by Bloodbath Studios :) Blending my Alzheimer's research with game dev, cool Quest Item! -
The Skull of Eternal Dementia... Terrifying But what is Crestfallen? Crestfallen: Medieval Survival is a place to be whatever you want; Role-play out medieval fantasies, explore the creations of our imagination, and have fun while playing alongside others in an ever evolving universe. I think multiplayer interactivity is such an amazing part of gaming, building and fighting others makes the game feel very special.
Want to try it out for free? Download the demo on steam here -
https://store.steampowered.com/app/2293680/Crestfallen_Medieval_Survival/ If you like it and want to join our multiplayer servers before launch and help us find bugs and add ideas to the discord you are more than welcome. If you like it I would really appreciate a Wishlist to help with my visibility as we approach Steams Next Fest where I will be streaming for 6 hours.
There are quests to explore, portals to venture into, factions of enemies to fight against, and people to make lasting memories with. You can form parties, guilds, and interact with each other with in game voice chat and be whatever you want to be.
The Map of IronGuard Summit Choose a progression into magic, farming, or master the blade with a skill and stat point progression system to level up. As we grow out our team we look forward to expanding the maps, adding more magic, and more everything as we move along in our development. Some of my favorite parts of the game are fighting the harder knights and bowmen up at the Castle and attempting to overthrow the Evil King within and his (SPOILER).
Full Plate Armor - Tons of Crafting Stations and Craftables I was inspired to make this game by a friend who I met in the Medieval Survival game Reign of Kings. We used to host The Kingdom of Camelot server together and as Keeper of Justice I would publicly execute cheaters with our community, great memories! Seeing the game not progress, but loving the core concepts of it, I took it upon myself to try to make a similar type of game with more interactive elements and PvE areas to explore with updated graphics in Unreal Engine 5.
Crystals of Cinder and Glacial Knowledge Ever Unfolding Destiny: Review our Living Roadmap -
The Path of Ever-Unfolding Destiny Growing up I loved to build with Legos, as a lot of kids do, and I was very fond of creating huge Castles and destroying them with my besieging armies. Castles and base building are so fun for me and it's very exciting how I have been able to get it to work online in a multiplayer setting where people can build huge Kingdoms together. By utilizing a snapping building system the options are endless for the Castle pieces we can add and the different tiered structures / workstations to build around the Castle.
HUGE Castle Walls In addition we have been adding farming, cooking, and incredibly intricate crafting recipes to progress your character as you explore more difficult areas and fight more dangerous monsters. I plan to devote at least the next 10 years of my life to building this alongside my fledgling community that shares the passion for building, crafting, intertwined with the medieval genre.
How To Decorate A Castle Time for a Bloodbath: A Starting Boss to Avoid Spoilers Demon Lord Morgrate and his UBER rare glowing sword In addition to building another major focus for me is on a new fighting system that feels realistic, bloody, and gruesome. I love the feeling we have created by researching medieval combat and using animations that are inspired from the medieval era. It still needs a bit more blood in my opinion but the squelches and screams really make a rewarding experience when in a fight against a bunch of enemies.
Another massive base build! The fire magic feels great to wield but had to nerf our meteor storm as it was discouraging for players to have their bases wiped out so easily with fiery death. Siege weapons like ballista, catapult, and trebuchet are starting to work well, with the trebuchet being one of my personal favorites with how it turned out. My roadmap includes the addition of siege towers and battering rams in the near future.
To The Dungeons: Any idea and all feedback is welcome, I really appreciate the criticism as it helps me learn and grow. Making this game involving the community is so important for me as it helps it grow in a positive non toxic direction. This was almost published by Snail Games USA, but I declined the offer based on their reviews and reputation of their CEO cheating in ARK.
The Keepers of Justice WILL Prevail!! -
My Quest System Says So At Least My strategy to help combat cheaters and toxicity is by hosting official whitelisted servers that are managed by something similar to DND Dungeon Masters! Having active admins that can manipulate world variables and help unfold the story of a server with different admin tools could make for some very interesting and innovative online multiplayer gameplay.
This has been a very hard 2 years for me, I have done 3 point studio lighting on thousands of our assets to make the icons beautiful, integrated some of the most amazing systems ever built, and have had the honor and blessing of receiving help from hundreds... maybe thousands of talented geniuses from all around the world. Ensuring everything works well, looks great, and sounds amazing has been a true scientific task and to see player build, craft, and create amazing things and enjoy their time humbles me and bring great joy to my heart.
This Tavern may look like a bar to you but to me its something indescribable, a collection of my favorite assets adjusted and fine tuned to be craftable, placeable, and functional... have a seat... all chairs and thrones are fully functional. It is my dream to create a massive fully intractable world and we are well on the way!
Past Work: I made my first game Best in the West in Unity, a 10 man micro royale where you ride an old steam train into a wild west town and as the train whistle blows and the doors swing open it's a run and gun em down shoot em up cowboy style - free to play. Unity was not very fun for me and after switching to Unreal Engine I felt that I really got to focus on the game development and not the optimization of textures and culling properties.
So lets press on together and keep doing our best to bring people together through building, adventure, and making a GG (GOOD GAME NOOB!) with love. <3
Now that we made it possible to build in lakes -
NEW DRAW BRIDGE COMING SOON SO EPIC!! All the criticism on my steam page I have personally addressed and appreciate as it gives me a chance to listen and learn. The critical feedback has been very helpful to identify problems and brainstorm with players and strategize to fix things.
Official Crestfallen Logo "Omnes Una Manet Nox." The Dark Night Awaits Us All. -King Burkheart The Keeper of Justice "JUSTICE WILL BE SERVED!!" Join our community in Discord and help us make the game better, all ideas and people are welcome -
https://discord.gg/89jpe8YyYj I would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the moderator: RMouldoun for helping guide my path here including the people who rightfully flamed my first post.
Thank you to newagedne for helping me keep things professional and improve, I always appreciate the opportunity to learn.

2024.05.17 03:32 OK-CaterpillarCall FMC needs marriage of convenience for practical reasons, MMC is pining
Hi friendly sub, Iâm looking for your best recs where the FMC needs a marriage of convenience for plot reasons (Inheritance? Protection? Power? Other âromance book onlyâ reasons?) and the MMC readily agrees because heâs secretly pining hard for her.
I think dynamic works best when the MMC tries to hide his feelings and reactions to her â and FMC is just completely unaware. I love when sheâs the one that suggests the MOC (or fake engagement? fake dating, all work!) and thinks sheâll need to do a hard sell to convince him.
What are your fave books with this dynamic?
The best examples Iâve can think of that I loved are:
{In A Jam by Kate Canterbary} - FMC needs to be married for one year to save her grandmothers hometown farm. MMC has been crushing hard since high school. I love this book! Noahâs inner monologues are so unhinged.
{Kingpin of Camelot by Cassandra Gannon} - Queen FMC proposes marriage to bad guy MMC to take back her kingdom and protect her daughter. This book is so fun â I loved how Gwen is so worried that sheâs taking advantage of Midas while heâs obsessed.

2024.05.12 18:44 Joshh170 Games With The Most Impressive Graphics (long read)
| As video games have continued to grow and evolve as both entertainment and art, the games just keep looking better and better. If someone is playing on a high-end PC or the average console, it's hard not to notice when a game stands out a bit more than the rest. Whether it is the highest fidelity graphics or just a gorgeous art style (or both), games that look good usually also play well. If that much time gets spent in the graphics department they must have something good elsewhere. Here are the games with the best graphics out there. Updated on May 12, 2024 by Mark Sammut: Two recently-released games deserve to be spotlighted. One is the latest entry in a long-running JRPG franchise, while the other is a new IP from a Korean studio. Note: A few criteria/things to keep in mind: This article focuses on modern releases and a few post-2000s projects rather than classics from the NES, SNES, Game Boy, Genesis, and PS1 eras. As important and industry-pushing as the latter were, visually they are too different from modern releases to compare them. The games are only loosely ranked since graphical styles vary so much from project to project, and personal preference plays a part. A 2016 game might be ranked higher than a 2024 one because the former was more impressive when it debuted, even if the latter technically looks better. 1)Lords Of The Fallen Unreal Engine 5 Is Here Epic's Unreal Engine 5 was introduced in 2020, instantly garnering hype for what it could mean for the industry's future. In 2023, a few notable games that utilize the engine were finally released, presenting early examples of its potential. Remnant 2 and Immortals of Aveum are both visually impressive, and the same could be said for ARK: Survival Ascended. However, at the moment, Lords of the Fallen is probably the most gorgeous UE5 game, although that could change once titles like Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2 are released. While not without its issues, the Soulslike game's graphics are certainly not among them. Axiom is a vast and stunning hellscape, one that has quite a bit of variety. The game's lighting and animations are consistently top-notch too. 2)Bright Memory: Infinite A One-Person Team Games and their visuals cannot be analyzed in a vacuum. Context and expectations shape somebody's reaction to an experience, and that is certainly the case with Bright Memory: Infinite. Developed by a single developer, Zeng Xiancheng, this first-person shooter originally debuted in 2020 as Bright Memory, a concept that was expanded for a full release in July 2022. While the overall game has plenty of issues, its graphics are undeniably impressive, comparing favorably with higher-budget titles. There are plenty of gorgeous indie titles, but the vast majority succeed because they do not try to emulate AAA projects. They strive to do their own thing. Bright Memory: Infinite does the exact opposite, and the game proves that it can be done well. 3)Hi-Fi Rush Burst Of Colour Announced and released out of nowhere, Hi-Fi Rush was perhaps 2023's greatest surprise. Tango Gameworks' action game blends hack and slash combat with rhythm-based mechanics, rewarding players for adhering to the beat. Set in a corporate city run by Vandelay Technologies, the title brings to life a vibrant and bustling metropolis filled with unique buildings and NPCs. As the campaign is linear, Hi-Fi Rush focuses on creating cool environments and backdrops, two things the game absolutely nails. Quite a few stages are predominantly set within samey corridors and indoor areas, but whenever the action heads outside, Hi-Fi Rush really comes alive. 4)Okami HD An Animated Painting There aren't many games that have been able to graphically stand the test of time as well as Okami has. Originally released in 2006 on consoles like the PlayStation 2 and Wii, Okami was able to take advantage of its timeless style to make the most out of the hardware it was on. However, playing Okami on those consoles today shows just how much the original systems were holding it back, which is where the HD version comes in. On the PS4 and Switch, Okami's classical Japanese art style looks absolutely stunning in just about every area of the game. 5)Heavenly Sword Motion Capture Showcase Most of Ninja Theory's bigger games boast stellar visuals and character designs, however, Heavenly Sword gets the nod because it was the studio's first proper graphical showcase. More impressively, the early PS3 game still looks beautiful today, an achievement that should be largely credited to the project's use of motion capture technology. The cut-scenes steal the show and could easily pass for a mid-budget animated flick, with Andy Serkis' performance as King Bohan ranking among the best in any era of gaming. During gameplay, Heavenly Sword is also a treat for the eyes and senses, particularly in its lavish environments. 6)Killzone: Mercenary Console Quality On A Handheld System Regardless of their quality, all the Killzone games are graphical showcases. Despite being a launch title, 2013's Shadow Fall is still among the most visually impressive games on the PS4. As stunning as Guerrilla's mainline entries are, Killzone: Mercenary deserves a special mention due to its hardware. The PS Vita was and still is a reasonably powerful handheld device, one that could replicate home console visuals to a certain extent. No other title highlighted the console's graphical potential better than Killzone: Mercenary, an FPS that would not have looked out of place on the PS3 or even as a budget PS4 project. The fact it is also a decent game does not hurt either. 7)Super Mario Odyssey It Is Not Always About Realism Or Processing Power While combining "Nintendo Switch game" with "best graphics" might seem weird, it's hard to argue that Super Mario Odyssey doesn't make the most of the console's limited processing power. With a combination of stylized art and impressive HD, Mario explores several gorgeous landscapes that might inspire players to sit back and think about how far things have come. Nintendo has always used fantastical art styles to produce charming and timeless games that don't break the bank on processing. Mario has never looked this good, and sequences like the New Donk City music festival allow the game to shine. 8)Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League For All Its Faults, The Graphics Are Not One Of Them All of Rocksteady's games push the envelope in terms of visuals, and 2015's Arkham Knight still boasts the most impressive rendition of Gotham in gaming. Its visuals have aged magnificently, and the gameplay is fantastic, even if the overall project is not quite on the same level as Arkham Asylum or Arkham City. After an 8-year wait, Rocksteady made its comeback with Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League; unfortunately, the Arkhamverse spin-off garnered a very mixed reception. Focusing on looter shooter action in an attempt to be a live-service experience, Suicide Squad is a fairly confused project that does not seem to play to Rocksteady's strengths. While many elements warrant criticism, and it can be tempting to dismiss the entire project, the game is not without positives. If nothing else, the graphics are generally top-notch, particularly when it comes to the cutscenes and character designs. When the action gets going, the screen can get rather muddled, but it is not devoid of visual flare either. For all its faults, Suicide Squad certainly looks like a proper AAA project. 9)Halo: Reach A Series That Always Pushed Console Graphics To Their Limits In truth, Reach could be regarded as a stand-in for Halo in general as Microsoft's franchise is consistently pushing console visuals to their limits. In terms of art style, Halo 4 certainly has its fans; when it comes to graphical prowess, Halo 5 and Infinite are unsurprisingly a step above their predecessors. However, Halo: Reach perfected the series' iconic aesthetic of Bungie's era, ensuring the latter's time with the license ended on a high note. Nowadays, Reach looks its best in The Master Chief Collection, which enhances the visuals in a few subtle but notable ways. That said, the Xbox 360 version holds up well after all these years. 10)Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot At Times, Looks (Much) Better Than The Anime It wasn't until fairly recently that video games hit the graphical fidelity necessary to be able to fully translate animated shows and films into live gameplay, with recent Dragon Ball games being the most shining examples. 2018's Dragon Ball FighterZ was able to take a page out of Guilty Gear's book to make a stunning 2.5D experience, but gorgeous, fully 3D anime games were still a rarity. Until Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot was released, that is. Taking the Toriyama characters and landscapes that fans know and love, Kakarot turns them into stunning 3D models with some of the most impressive animations and visual effects around. 11)Lego Star Wars: Skywalker Saga Detailed & Beautiful Lego projects might not be as graphically intensive as games with realistic visuals, but they have a unique and clean aesthetic that generally complements their gameplay and tone. Although the franchise's IP adaptations are consistently pleasing to the eyes, Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga exists on a whole other level. Covering all the main episodes in the sci-fi film series, the game beautifully recreates some of the most iconic locations in Star Wars, creating worlds that are expansive and detailed. Undoubtedly the most ambitious Lego title, The Skywalker Saga is the full package, and Traveller's Tales' hard work is evident throughout the experience. While very much designed with younger players in mind, die-hard fans are likely to have a blast regardless of their age; in fact, people who are just searching for an action-adventure romp should check this release out. 12)Golden Sun A Gorgeous World To Take On The Go In terms of raw power, the Game Boy Advance has nothing on the Nintendo DS, let alone something like the Switch; however, that does not mean the classic console's library is devoid of gorgeous games. Golden Sun is a turn-based JRPG set in Weyard, a fantasy world that is refreshingly diverse in terms of environments. Largely experienced from a top-down perspective, Golden Sun looks like most other old-school JRPGs found on the GBA or SNES, just with its graphics maximized to their full potential. Camelot instilled every town and dungeon with color and personality, while battles come to life with a flurry of effects that are dazzling to behold. 13)South Park: The Fractured But Whole Looks Exactly Like The Show When adapting an established property to a different medium, concessions usually need to be made. However, exceptions do exist, and South Park: The Fractured but Whole managed to perfectly replicate the show's aesthetic. The RPG looks and sounds exactly like Trey Parker and Matt Stone's legendary animated series, permitting fans to immerse themselves in this world like never before. Even removed from that context, The Fractured but Whole's visuals are detailed, expressive, and clean. Authenticity did not come at the cost of quality. 14)Shadow Of The Colossus (2018) Majesty In Gaming Form For the most part, this article focuses on modern games rather than titles that were graphical showcases when they debuted. Shadow of the Colossus both follows this rule and is also an exception; while the PS2 version looks dated, the visuals still retain that same sense of wonder and scale that they had when the game originally came out in 2005. Bluepoint Games' 2018 remake gives Team Ico's classic a modern makeover, and traversing the Forbidden Land in search of majestic colossi remains as haunting of an experience as it was in the PS2 era. 15)Stellar Blade More Than Just Eve In the lead-up to its release, Stellar Blade's marketing heavily advertised Eve, its AI protagonist, and her wardrobe. Attractive characters being used to sell projects is nothing new, but their heavy promotion usually suggests a lack of trust in the rest of the game's quality. Surprisingly, Stellar Blade proved to be way more than just its main character. Shift Up created an exciting action game with Soulslike combat (along with hack and slash influence) that also features surprisingly expansive zones that allow for exploration, side quests, and environmental storytelling. Considering it was created by a smallish studio compared to other PS5 first-party titles, Stellar Blade compares favorably to most of Sony's heavyweights, and it is among the best-looking Unreal Engine 4 games of all time. In fact, it could be confused for Unreal Engine 5. 16)Persona 5 Royal Oozes Style As hundreds of games use an anime aesthetic, they start to blend together if they do not inject enough personality into their presentations. Persona 5 Royal does not have this issue. Everything about the game screams "stylish," and that holds true for the social sim and dungeon crawling sections of the campaign. The latter take place in diverse Palaces that are generally vibrant, lively, and gorgeous. The visuals also do a lot of heavy lifting during battles, elevating what is a rather unspectacular turn-based combat system. Outside of Palaces, P5R unleashes players on a small but dense variant of Tokyo, one brimming with tiny details that enhance the experience. Note: Persona 3 Reload is quite a looker as well, although its single-dungeon setup restricts variety when compared to Persona 5 Royal 's Palaces. 17)The Last Of Us 2 Gritty Realism & Tremendous Performances Naughty Dog's games are always on the cutting edge graphically. 2016's Uncharted 4: A Thief's End has barely aged a day since its release, and 2013's The Last of Us was a contender for the most visually impressive game of the seventh generation. Therefore, unsurprisingly, the studio's latest offering, The Last of Us 2, is a powerhouse in the graphics department. This action-adventure game features realistic visuals and grounded performances courtesy of Naughty Dog using performance capture. Whether players are viewing a rare quiet moment or crawling in the mud to avoid a Clicker, The Last of Us 2 looks incredible. The 2024 remaster enhances the base version even further. 18)Gears 5 Weather Effects & Environments The newly titled Gears 5 takes a series that has always looked good and elevates it to the next level. The game's campaign takes place across a wide variety of environments, from a jungle early on to a snowy tundra and red desert landscape. The snowy tundra and red desert are also the locations for the game's more open exploration sections, giving a chance to explore and take in all the scenery. Gears 5's cutscenes are also gorgeous and the high fidelity extends into all the game's other modes. 19)Assassin's Creed Odyssey Packed With Stunning Vistas Assassin's Creed Odyssey earns its subtitle over the 60-plus hours it takes to mainline the story; in the meantime, players get to appreciate and take in the beauty of Ancient Greece. While the environments don't vary a ton from Assassin's Creed Origins, the extra trees and seas make for some spectacular views. With the viewpoints, Odyssey never hesitates to point out just how magnificent it looks. Most of the main characters and side characters also look great, which is impressive based on the quantity. 20)Hades Personality & Vibrancy Supergiant Games has put together some of the greatest indie releases of all time, and the studio's crowning achievement is Hades. The roguelike follows Zagreus' repeated attempts to make the journey from the Underworld to Mount Olympus, a task that proves to be anything but simple for Hades' son. Hades' visuals are vibrant, thematically consistent, and lively. The game's environments and characters are soaked in mythology and personality, while the particle effects are fantastic and impactful. The only negative is that sometimes there is a bit too much happening on screen. Note: Hades 2 arguably looks better than its predecessor, but it is still a work in progress at the moment. 21)Cuphead Perfectly Mimics Classic Cartoons A unique and eye-catching art style is often more important than sheer graphical prowess, and Cuphead might be the best demonstration of this point. Inspired by cartoons of old, Studio MDHR created a game that uses stunning and dynamic hand-drawn animation to bring to life a colorful world and the beings that exist within it. Even though they do not get much in the way of backstory, Cuphead utilizes its presentation to get across the personalities of each boss. The art style is also consistent throughout the campaign, allowing for a coherent experience despite most of the characters boasting designs that share very little in common. 22)Horizon Forbidden West Scale & Quality Guerrilla Games somehow managed to outdo Horizon Zero Dawn with its sequel, despite the latter still coming out on the PS4 alongside the console's successor. Horizon Forbidden West finds Aloy exploring a new area of this setting, one specifically inspired by states and cities like California and San Francisco. The result is a gorgeous and vast world packed with lush natural environments that are home to intricate mechanical beasts. Like most open-world games, Horizon Forbidden West does not always look absolutely fantastic, but its high points are so impressive that they make the more forgettable moments forgivable. While still a beautiful game on the PS4, this 2022 release is, unsurprisingly, at its best on the PS5. 23)Ori And The Will Of The Wisps Great Use Of Color & Light Moon Studios' Ori games are some of the best modern Metroidvanias, and they knock it out of the park in nearly every area. They tell emotional storylines that succeed in fostering not only a connection between the audience and the silent eponymous character but also the world they live in. Gameplay-wise, both games have precise and challenging platforming, while Will of the Wisps also introduces combat to the mix. Although a touch polarizing, the latter nevertheless adds an extra dimension to the overall package. Last but not least, Ori and its sequel are both visually enchanting. The games' use of color might be among the best in the entire industry, and each environment is a work of art. In the world of side-scrollers, not many projects compare favorably to Ori and the Will of the Wisps in any department, including graphics. 24)Demon's Souls (2020) A Beautiful Hell As mesmerizing as Elden Ring's visuals can be at times, the game's open-world design means they are spread a bit thin; conversely, 2020's Demon's Souls remake consists of almost nothing but stunning areas. Rife with deadly creatures, haunting architecture, and intimidating landscapes, Boletaria is a gorgeous nightmare of a kingdom that is equally likely to leave players in awe or fear. As a launch title for the PS5, Demon's Souls served as something of a tech demo for the hardware, showing what the next-gen console could accomplish. This is a game that could not exist on the PS4, and even more than 18 months into the PS5's life, Demon's Souls still has some of the best graphics on the system. 25)Ghost Of Tsushima Immersive Open-World Gazing across Ghost of Tsushima's rendition of the Japanese archipelago is quite the sight to behold, as this highly anticipated title has some breathtaking scenery. Tsushima's main graphical focus is on its world, which ends up feeling just as alive as the characters that inhabit it. The way cherry blossom petals flow in the highly stylized wind, how the sunset illuminates the beautiful countryside, and the many vibrant colors that contrast the violent gameplay make for one beautiful game. 26)Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart Pixar Quality Similar to 2016's Ratchet & Clank, Rift Apart's animation is on a whole other level. The franchise's most recent entries tend to be compared to Pixar's movies, which is about as high of praise as any game can receive. Utilizing the full power of the PS5, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart matches top-tier cutscenes with gameplay sections that are packed with detail, moving parts, and depth. Insomniac created lavish and dense worlds that all have unique flavors that make them exciting to explore. When the action gets going and Ratchet or Rivet scoop up bolts, Rift Apart is as smooth as butter. Note: Marvel's Spider-Man 2 is also visually stunning and represents Insomniac at its best. Rift Apart merits the nod due to being among the first PS5 projects to showcase the console's graphical potential, but Spider-Man 2 is as good-looking of an open-world game as they come. 27)Ni No Kuni: Wrath Of The White Witch Ghibli Quality Except for Square Enix, Level-5 is arguably the most consistent JRPG developer in terms of visuals. Yo-kai Watch, Dragon Quest 8, and Dark Cloud 2 are all gorgeous, and the latter's art styles are timeless. Level-5's graphical masterpiece is undoubtedly 2013's Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch, although the developer got some help as the game's cutscenes were handled by Studio Ghibli. The anime studio is well-known for its lavish cinematic productions, and Wrath of the White Witch replicates Ghibli's iconic style splendidly. Even if the cutscenes were ignored, Ni no Kuni would still rank among the PS3's most beautiful games. 28)Resident Evil 2 (2019) â Represents All Modern Resident Evil Games A Remake Done Right Years of remasters and rereleases have cemented the idea that old games can look better than they did, but not as good as modern ones. Capcom rebuilding Resident Evil 2 from the ground up makes it a modern video game, a fantastic one at that. Leon and Claire have never looked this good and neither have the zombies and monsters terrorizing Raccoon City. The police station and underground lab look nearly life-like and every scare in the game is extra terrifying with how detailed the monsters are. Even Tyrant looks awesome, in his own terrifying way. Note: Resident Evil 3 and Resident Evil 4 also look fantastic, but RE2 received the nod as it was the first of Capcom's stint of recent remakes. Resident Evil Village is also stunning. 29)Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020) The World At The Player's Fingertips Microsoft Flight Simulator is a jaw-dropping achievement. The flight sim grants players access to the world, allowing them to plan and take trips to Earth's highest mountains, hottest deserts, and greatest metropolises. The game's scope is impressive, and this ambition is more than matched by its technical prowess. Microsoft Flight Simulator is arguably the most realistic game of all time, with both the planes and locations authentically mirroring their real-life counterparts to the smallest detail. 30)God Of War (2018) & Ragnarok (2022) A New Era, A New Look Nothing against the previous installments of God of War, which are all technical showcases in their own right, but the soft reboot of the 2018 sequel and its successor are not only different but also more gorgeous. Exploring the Norse lands to soak up this universe's mythology is spectacular for a number of reasons, including the fact that everything looks great. God of War captures Kratos and Atreus in a way that gives depth to the former not experienced in previous installments. Unsurprisingly, God of War: Ragnarok maintains the high quality set by its predecessor. Graphically, the sequel does not offer a huge leap forward, but that is a testament to God of War's beauty rather than a criticism of Ragnarokâââââ. 31)The Legend Of Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom Pushes The Switch To Its Absolute Limit The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom boast vibrant art styles that bring Hyrule to life like never before. However, if someone were to focus on the minute details, they might notice reused or flat textures along with large stretches of empty real estate containing nothing but maybe two enemies and a couple of apples. Compared to some other open-world projects, Nintendo's releases might not be that impressive; however, considering the Switch's underpowered hardware, both games are technical marvels. Tears of the Kingdom gets the nod as it has more content than Breath of the Wild thanks to the implementation of Sky Islands and the Depths. Pushing the Switch to its absolute limit, the sequel delivers one of the most complete and expansive open-world adventures of all time. 32)The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt A Dark Fantasy Masterpiece In Nearly Every Way Known for being one of the greatest games ever made, CD Projekt Red's The Witcher 3 is phenomenal for numerous reasons. Not all the monsters or gruff characters are a joy to look at because they aren't meant to be, but the sprawling landscapes are constantly killer. While the console versions look great (not including the Switch port, which is nonetheless impressive in its own right), The Witcher 3 on PC can hit graphical levels that are almost beyond understanding. The game is worth playing for a ton of reasons besides graphics, but looking good is always a plus. The bathtub scene is worth the price of entry alone. On the right system, Cyberpunk 2077 is also one of the best-looking games ever . 33)A Plague Tale: Requiem A Proper Current-Gen Experience As the ninth console generation picks up steam, more games will debut that raise the bar for graphics, at least on Sony and Microsoft's hardware. A Plague Tale: Requiem is one of the first games to truly come across as a current-gen experience, an achievement aided by Asobo Studio's decision to not produce PS4 and Xbox One versions. Boasting brilliant facial animations and photo-realistic visuals, Requiem is awe-inspiring on a technical level. While 2019's Innocence is also a pretty game, Requiem far exceeds its predecessor in this department, particularly when it comes to the presentation of the rats. 34)Forza Horizon 5 Mexico At The Player's Fingertips As long as Forza games continue to be made they will continue to be the best-looking games on the market. Forza Horizon 5 isn't just one of the greatest racing games of the last few years, but one of the most gorgeous titles to ever be released for Xbox. While Forza Horizon 4's British setting resulted in slightly homogenous environments, the sequel's Mexico map is far more diverse, offering 11 biomes that showcase different aspects of the country. While the game looks good on the Xbox One, Forza Horizon 5 is unbelievably gorgeous on PC and the Xbox Series X. 35)Alan Wake 2 Cinematic Quality Alan Wake 2 was a long time coming, and the sequel managed to live up to some rather lofty expectations while catering to both returning fans and new players. Split across two campaigns, the story follows Saga as she investigates a murder case that leads her to an unsettling American town with a peculiar populace. In the meantime, Alan finds himself trying to escape the Dark Place, a haunting realm that twists reality into something menacing but familiar. Although complementary, the two storylines still feel different from each other, and that extends to their detailed and realistic locations. Alan Wake 2 is a technical work of art built using Remedy's own Northlight Engine, which is also responsible for the equally impressive Control and Quantum Break. 36)Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Ambitious, Epic, & Gorgeous Generally, most JRPG franchises tend to trail behind other AAA properties in terms of graphics; however, the one constant exception is Final Fantasy. In most generations, Square Enix produces one or two games that push consoles to their limits â Final Fantasy 6 for the SNES, Final Fantasy 7 and 8 for the PS1, Final Fantasy 12 for the PS2, Final Fantasy 13 for the PS3, and Final Fantasy 7 Remake for the PS4. On the PS5, Final Fantasy 16 and Rebirth are both visually stunning, but the latter gets the nod due to its open-world nature, making for a more impressive final product. Set after Cloud and company leave Midgar, Rebirth emphasizes this story's world-spanning nature and scale in a way that could not be done with the 1997 original. Even if the open-world filler content might not be to everyone's tastes, the game is consistently gorgeous, and each region of the map has a unique identity that keeps things interesting. The character and enemy models are unsurprisingly flawless, and they are accompanied by high-quality visual effects that are regularly showcased during the fast-paced combat. 37)Half-Life: Alyx The Future Of Gaming? After more than a decade, Valve finally returned to the Half-Life franchise, albeit with a prequel/sequel rather than a proper third entry. Also, Half-Life: Alyx is a VR game, presumably designed to get people interested in Valve's Index headset. Dropping players in City 17, Alyx not only serves as a showcase of VR technology but is also a proper, substantial addition to the beloved series. Half-Life: Alyx arguably features the most detailed world in gaming history, and, thanks to virtual reality, one of the most immersive. Although most of the game takes place in underground areas filled with brilliantly designed environments and enemies, Half-Life: Alyx's presentation goes up another level whenever the story heads to the surface. 38)Red Dead Redemption 2 An Era Captured Fully Red Dead Redemption 2 is arguably the game with the best graphics of all time, although Rockstar's GTA 5 and L.A. Noire would not be bad shouts either. RDR2 is practically a movie due to how detailed and impressive all the NPCs and landscapes look on both consoles and PC. Not only does every single frame of this adventure look photo-realistic, but RDR2 is also incredibly long and players will never get tired of the scenery. Arthur Morgan looks and feels like a real human being, and the same extends to every other character within the game. RDR2 is nothing short of art. 39)Groundbreaking Games From Yesteryear They Set The Standard While not quite as regular of a phenomenon nowadays, the '80s, '90s, and early 2000s produced plenty of games that represented the next leap in graphical prowess. Titles like Pong, Asteroids, Super Mario Bros., Super Mario 64, Alone in the Dark, Ocarina of Time, Tomb Raider, Mist, Final Fantasy 7, and Grand Theft Auto 3 were all visual showcases that changed the industry. Even if some of these projects' graphics have not aged extremely well, that does not diminish their accomplishments or importance. And, plenty of these masterpieces have stood the test of time, especially Nintendo's SNES-era releases. submitted by Joshh170 to GameGeeks [link] [comments] |
2024.05.11 17:34 blackthorn_orion The Nintendo Breakdown 2: An updated overview of confirmed, leaked, and rumored projects from Nintendo and its close partners
Hello again! About 6 months ago, I put together
a Nintendo roundup that got some positive feedback, and with this weekâs double-whammy of the Switch successor kinda being announced and a direct being confirmed for June, I figured now was as good a time as any to put out an updated version so folks can know where things stand and have something to chew on while they wait. My intent is to update this post after the June direct with any new information. Please let me know if anything's borked, as formatting big posts on reddit can get a bit wonky and some of these links are getting old
Nintendo Entertainment Planning and Development (EPD): Formed in 2015 as part of a restructuring that unified Nintendo Entertainment Analysis and Development (EAD) and Nintendo Software Planning and Development (SPD). When people talk about âin-house Nintendoâ, this is usually what they mean. EPD groups are primarily small producedirector-led teams that then scale up and pull from a shared âpoolâ of developers as projects get further into development. EPDâs many sub-groups can essentially be divided into those that primarily develop their own games and those focused more on overseeing/collaborating with other studios (both non-EPD Nintendo studios as well as fully external developers), though there are exceptions and gray areas
Development-focused groups - EPD 3: The Zelda team; with Tears of the Kingdom DLC stated to be off the table, they are presumed to have moved onto the next major Zelda title
- Nate the Hate and Eurogamer both reported that a build of Breath of the Wild running on Switch 2-comparable hardware was shown behind closed doors at Gamescom 2023 featuring 4K60fps and âerasedâ load times; however, these reports also stressed that this was intended primarily as a tech demo and isnât necessarily indicative of a next-gen update or remaster being planned for release
- Papagenos: âTears of the kingdom Had a great zelda design I think we are Severely overdue for a game where zelda Is the main character. Seems to me A Hyrule adventure like that Is something fans want, Nows The time.
- capitalized letters spell out âThis is a hintâ
- Jeff Grubb, Nate the Hate, Imran Khan, and Andy Robinson have all previously claimed or alluded to the WiiU versions of Wind Waker and Twilight Princess coming to Switch (often speculated/reported as being a double-pack); nobody's gotten the timing right on this, but these are often framed as finished ports that Nintendo is sitting on for one reason or another.
- Nate the Hate: "They exist but knowing when they'll come out is a different matter. It's why they are often used in speculation as a schedule filler"
- Grubb: "I've always heard they're ready, they're sitting there, we're just waiting for Nintendo to pull the trigger. When they will, why they will, who knows?"
- Kit&Krysta: Krysta: âI know they exist, theyâre in, theyâre, uh, theyâre, they, theyâre done I think theyâre just gonna sit on it. But I do not think theyâre gonna talk about this at all, for a whileâ
- EPD 4: The âexperimentalâ team behind games such as Labo, Ring Fit Adventure, and Nintendo Switch Sports. Typically their games feature bespoke peripherals or prioritize using a system's hardware features for novel gameplay. Most recently released Everybody 1-2 Switch (co-developed with NDcube) in June 2023.
- EPD 5: Animal Crossing and Splatoon. Most recently released Side Order, a roguelike DLC mode for Splatoon 3, in February 2024
- Pre-release, Splatoon 3 was confirmed to get 2 years of support; barring a content extension, the game should get its final content update this year around September
- Should note that while the two series typically share a producer, thereâs historically been little to no overlap in directors, so itâs not impossible for both Animal Crossing and Splatoon to have games in active development at once
- EPD 8: Also known as EPD Tokyo since the rest of EPD is based out of Nintendoâs Kyoto HQ, this is the 3D Mario team (also Donkey Kong Jungle Beat and Captain Toad; co-developed the NES Remix games with indieszero)
- EPD 9: Mario Kart, ARMS (and Nintendogs once upon a time).
- With Mario Kart Tour and Mario Kart 8 Deluxeâs Booster Course Pass both receiving their final content updates towards the end of 2023, theyâve probably been working on the next Mario Kart game (either that or LEGS)
- EPD 10: Pikmin and 2D Mario (including Mario Maker). Launched both Pikmin 4 (co-developed with Eighting) and Super Mario Bros. Wonder in 2023.
Oversight and collaborative groups - EPD 2 has the broadest responsibilities of these groups, through which EPD gets a hand in projects including Kirby, Mario Party, Smash, Fire Emblem, Bayonetta, Xenoblade, and Pokemon, and others
- EPD 6 generally sticks to to overseeing Intelligent Systemsâ non-Fire Emblem games (i.e. Paper Mario, WarioWare) as well as all games developed by Retro Studios and Next Level Games.
- EPD 7 is a bit hard to place, but for simplicityâs sake Iâm putting it here; as SPD 1 they developed multiple games on their own (notably the Rhythm Heaven and Tomodachi games), but after Nintendo shook up its internal structure in the late WiiU era and SPD 1 became EPD 7, they appear not to have the capacity for solo projects. Instead, all their projects as EPD 7 have been in collaboration with external studios and include the Famicom Detective Club remakes developed with MAGES as well as MercurySteamâs recent Metroid games
- EPD 1 stands as something of a mystery, as just about every series it would previously have managed and overseen has seemingly been moved under EPD 2 in recent years; its current status and possible projects are unclear
Other Nintendo-owned Studios: Mario World outside of EPD
- 1-Up Studio (formerly Brownie Brown):
- As Brownie Brown, developed games such as Magical Vacation, Sword of Mana, and A Kappaâs Trail; co-developed Mother 3 with HAL Laboratory
- As 1-Up, acts as a support studio primarily for Nintendo EPD titles (most frequently EPD 8 projects, though also credited in occasional non-EPD 8 games like Tri-Force Heroes, Ring Fit Adventure, and Animal Crossing New Horizons)
- iQue: Previously distributed Nintendo games and consoles in China under the iQue Player branding; with Tencent now acting as Nintendoâs official distributor in the region, iQueâs primary role has been Chinese localization
- Monolith Soft: Tokyo studio handles the Xenoblade series, Kyoto studio does support for EPD 3/EPD 5 projects; most recent solo release was 2023âs Future Redeemed, the DLC story expansion to Xenoblade Chronicles 3
- NDcube: Mario Party (from 9 onwards), Clubhouse Games, various other party game/mini game titles (also F-Zero Maximum Velocity on GBA)
- Most recently released 2023âs Everybody 1-2 Switch (co-developed with EPD 4)
- Next Level Games: Luigiâs Mansion 2 and 3, Mario Strikers series, Punch-Out Wii, Metroid Prime Federation Force
- Since 2013âs Luigiâs Mansion 2, Next Level has released a new game every 3 years; With Mario Strikers Battle League releasing and wrapping support in 2022, they should have a new game in 2025 (assuming they stick to this 3 year cycle)
- Possibly working on the Luigiâs Mansion 2 remaster scheduled for late June 2024
- Nintendo Prime in March 2023: An F-Zero GX remaster is one of two projects in development at Next Level Games
- Nintendo European Research and Development (NERD) (Formerly Mobiclip/Actimagine): Primarily handles most of Nintendoâs emulation needs (NES/SNES emulators in the mini consoles and NSO, GB/GBA for NSO, and the Gamecube/Wii emulator used in Mario 3D All-Stars/Pikmin 1+2). Frequently credited in ânovel technologyâ-heavy titles such as EPD 4 projects and Velan Studiosâ Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit
- In addition to ongoing NSO work, served as a support studio for Tears of the Kingdom
- Most recently developed Pikmin 1+2 along with the Porting Technology Development Team (part of Nintendo Platform Technology Development, Nintendoâs hardware&tech division)
- Nintendo Pictures (formerly Dynamo Pictures): Animation and motion capture studio
- As Dynamo Pictures, credited on games and media such as Metroid Other M, Monster Hunter Stories, Persona 5, and the Pikmin shorts
- As Nintendo Pictures, credited on Tears of the Kingdom (special thanks), Pikmin 4 (very special thanks), Mario Wonder (character design/character action design/field design/cinematic design/technical support/project management/special thanks), Super Mario RPG remake (character art/animation art/technical art), and Another Code Recollection (very special thanks)
- Nintendo Software Technology (NST): Ridge Racer 64, Pokemon Puzzle League (a reskin of Intelligent Systemsâ shelved Panel de Pon 64), Wave Race Blue Storm, 1080 Avalanche, Mario vs DK series, Metroid Prime Hunters, F-Zero 99, support work for indie publishing partnerships (Snipperclips, The Stretchers, Good Job), port work+new content for EPD games (Mario Maker 3DS, Captain Toad Switch/3DS, 3D World+Bowserâs Fury)
- Retro Studios: Metroid Prime series, Donkey Kong Country Returns & Tropical Freeze, support for Mario Kart 7
- Systems Research and Development (SRD): Programming assistance on many Nintendo games dating back as far as the Famicom/NES port of Donkey Kong in 1983 before eventually being acquired by Nintendo in 2022
Close Partners and Frequent Collaborators: The Nintendo
Keiretsu and Friends
- Arika: Endless Ocean series, several Dr. Mario installments, Tetris 99/Mario 35/Pac-Man 99
- Most recently released Endless Ocean Luminous in May 2024
- Bandai Namco: As Namco, developed Starfox Assault, the Donkey Konga series, and the Mario baseball games; As Bandai Namco, responsible for Smash games starting with Smash for WiiU and 3DS, asset creation for EPD 9 games starting with Mario Kart 8 (technically had been involved with Kart since the arcade entries in the mid-2000s), and various Pokemon spin-offs such as Pokken Tournament and New Pokemon Snap
- Camelot: Mario Tennis and Mario Golf games, Golden Sun series
- Game Freak/Creatures Inc./The Pokemon Company:
- Good-Feel: Wario Land Shake It, Kirbyâs Epic Yarn, Yoshiâs Wooly World/Crafted World
- most recently released Princess Peach Showtime in March 2024
- Grezzo: Ocarina of Time 3D and Majoraâs Mask 3D, Luigiâs Mansion 3D, Linkâs Awakening remake, Miitopia remaster; co-developed Triforce Heroes with EPD 3
- HAL Laboratory: Known primarily for Kirby; in recent years, theyâve also made the Boxboy games and Part-Time UFO. Prior to roughly the mid-2000s, their output was a bit more varied, including titles such as the first Pokemon Snap and Pokemon Ranger, the first two Smash Bros., and co-developing Earthbound and Mother 3
- Warpstar Inc. is responsible for managing the Kirby IP specifically (essentially, itâs The Pokemon Company but for Kirby); HAL owns 50% of its shares while Nintendo owns the other 50%
- Kirby series director Shinya Kumazaki called Kirby and the Forgotten Land âthe first step in our kind of ongoing moving forward challenge of now also creating 3D Kirby gamesâ, indicating they intend to follow up the now best-selling Kirby game with another 3D entry
- multiple job listings specifically for developing (pretend to be shocked) Kirby games; presumably looking to fill the gap left by external developer Vanpool, which worked with HAL on several Kirby spin-offs as well as Forgotten Land and Return to Dreamland Deluxe before shutting down in May 2023
- indieszero: Electroplankton, NES Remix series (with EPD 8), Sushi Striker, Brain Training for Nintendo Switch (with EPD 4), Big Brain Academy Brain vs Brain (with EPD 4)
- While not confirmed to be involved in the recently-announced Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition, Masanobu Suzui (founder of indieszero) retweeted the gameâs official announcement
- Intelligent Systems: Fire Emblem, Panel de Pon/Tetris Attack/Puzzle League, Paper Mario, WarioWare, Advance Wars, Pushmo/Pullblox
- Developing the upcoming Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door remake
- rumored Fire Emblem Genealogy of the Holy War remake:
- Koei Tecmo: Pokemon Conquest, Metroid Other M, Hyrule Warriors games, Fire Emblem Warriors games, Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3, Buddy Mission Bond (Japan-exclusive), Fire Emblem Three Houses (co-developed with Intelligent Systems)
- PlatinumGames: developer of the Bayonetta games and Astral Chain, co-developed Star Fox Zero with EPD
- Ubisoft: Mario+Rabbids games, Starlink Battle for Atlus (featured Starfox content in the Switch version)
Misc. Odds and Ends. Things that didnât really fit anywhere else, big grain of salt for some of these
- references to Star Fox objects found in code for Switch Sports (the first released game to use EPDâs newest engine, ModuleSystem)
- PapaGenos claimed in August 2023 that heâd heard rumors of Smash Bros. Ultimate getting some kind of update in the future
- Masahiro Sakurai says a console port of Kid Icarus Uprising âsure would be niceâ but notes that âwithout a team around to work on it, crafting a follow-up seems difficultâ
- Hobonichi (MotheEarthbound creator Shigesato Itoiâs company) celebrating 30th anniversary of Earthbound/Mother 2: âTo commemorate the 30th anniversary of MOTHER 2 ... we are planning a lot of fun in 2024â (almost certainly just merch, but noting it here just in case itâs something more)
- Nintendo investing up to approx. $880 million to âorganically expandâ its game development assets and creative culture, up to approx. $2.64 billion into Nintendo accounts and infrastructure; also constructing new 12-floor building for game production, expected to be completed by end of 2027
- reddit user lineup-leak: Gamecube classics will be available at launch of next console (specifically mentions Mario Kart Double Dash, Smash Melee, Metroid Prime 2 as launch titles, with Pokemon Colosseum, FE Path of Radiance, and Mario Party 4 also being tested for NSO)
- claims next Mario Kart will not be a launch title but will release within the first 6-12 months, describes next Mario as being âin final testing phaseâ
- Nintendo to give Forever Entertainment âsignificant financial supportâ in new publishing deal âto release several titles on Nintendo Switchâ: This is from a while ago but (and someone can correct me if Iâm wrong) I donât think anythingâs come of this yet
- Chris Dring/GamesIndustry.biz: âNintendo is actively meeting with independent developers to find new partners. Some of that is around publishing indie games, ⊠but itâs also seeking studios that could work on some of its IP.â; âNintendo regularly works with third-party teams, ⊠But the company is looking to add to that roster, and I know of three studios that are deep in conversation around making games based on Nintendo brandsâ
- Nintendo survey asking about different Mario RPG games, including Mario&Luigi
- reddit user Advanced-Ad7780: Project X Zone 3 is currently in development (leak didnât specify a developer, but the first two games were developed by Monolith Soft for the 3DS)
- Nintendo secures new trademarks for Kirby and the Rainbow Paintbrush and Fullblox (also known as Kirby and the Rainbow Curse, and Stretchmo) in Australia
- Doctre: Notes that Velan Studios (Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit, started by Vicarious Visions founders Guha and Karthik Bala) is looking for people with AAA experience to work on a âcherished and widely adored IPâ, speculates it could be a reboot of VVâs DK project
- Midori: âA game is in development at Nintendo with the codename Banquetâ
- Brazil: âThe June Direct should be the last "main one" focused on Switch 1; more remasters will be announced during the show (and my educated guess is that MP4 is showing up as a late 2024 title as well)â
Engine Talk: Finally, itâs a bit esoteric but with game engines becoming an increasingly common point of conversation and speculation, I figured Iâd put together a rundown of some of the engines used in Nintendo games. This isnât a comprehensive list (esp. because many studios use proprietary engines that arenât well-documented), but should give a general idea of who uses what to make what (shouts-out to
OatmealDome on twitter for doing the datamining work whenever a new game comes out, and
MondoMega on Famiboards for maintaining a useful graphic that collates most of this information) )
- LunchPack
- Version 1: Nintendo Land, Mario Maker, Splatoon
- Version 2: Splatoon 2, Mario Maker 2, ARMS, Labo, Ring Fit Adventure, Game Builder Garage, Animal Crossing New Horizons
- ActionLibrary: 3D Land, 3D World, Mario Odyssey, menus/âwrapperâ for 3D All-Stars, Bowserâs Fury, Captain Toad, F-Zero 99 (elements possibly can be traced back as far as Sunshine or Galaxy)
- KingSystem: Breath of the Wild
- ModuleSystem: Switch Sports, Splatoon 3, Tears of the Kingdom, Mario Wonder, Mario vs Donkey Kong remake
- Nintendoware Bezel engine: Tetris 99/Pac-Man 99/Mario 35, WarioWare Get It TogetheWarioWare Move It, Super Mario Party/Mario Party Superstars, Clubhouse Games 51 Classics, Big Brain Academy Brain vs Brain, Everybody 1-2 Switch, Brain Training for Nintendo Switch, Endless Ocean Luminous
- RUDE (Retro Universal Design Engine or Retro Unified Development Environment, depending on which former dev you ask): all Retro Studios games
- Mint: most (all?) HAL Laboratory games since 2011's Return to Dreamland; upgraded and renamed Basil for Forgotten Land
- Unreal Engine 4: Yoshi's Crafted World, Pikmin 4, Princess Peach Showtime
- Unity: Jump Rope Challenge, Pokemon BDSP, Fire Emblem Engage, Super Mario RPG remake, Another Code Recollection

\1]) The Unity novel gives the date of Arno's reunion with Ălise after his escape from the Bastille as 25 July 1789. This is likely either a typo or an error because it creates a continuity issue with how these events are portrayed in the game. Firstly, after Arno's escape, he makes his way to the de la Serre estate in Paris, which is located in Le Marais. This is literally down the street from the Bastille. Even with lying low and dodging guard patrols, I can't imagine it would've taken Arno more than a day to reach the estate, let alone eleven. Not to mention why he'd wait that long to find Ălise when that was his singular objective while stuck in prison for two months. Another thing to consider is that there are a few side memories that take place prior to 25 July. The Paris story, The Great Escapist, happens on 16 July which is when Jean Henri Latude retrieved his rope ladder from the Bastille. And all three of the Ventre de Paris social club missions have to take place at some point prior to Joseph Foullon de DouĂ©'s execution on 22 July. If we go by the novel's date, Arno wasn't inducted into the Assassins until 25 July, which means he would've been doing missions for the Brotherhood before he even joined them. This obviously doesn't make any sense. So for the above reasons, I'm disregarding the novel's date and placing Arno and Ălise's reunion and the events of Rebirth on 15 July instead, which resolves the continuity issue.
\2]) Widespread public debate regarding Joseph-Ignace Guillotin's proposed method of capital punishment began in December 1789 after a speech he made to the National Constituent Assembly.
\3]) As France dechristianized during the Revolution, many religious institutions came under attack. On 12 July 1790, the Civil Constitution of the Clergy was passed, outlawing religious life and giving complete control of the Church to the government. As a result of this, many congregations such as the Filles du Calvaire Convent were formally dissolved by the National Constituent Assembly. As the Revolution progressed, these tensions only got worse. Shortly after the insurrection of 10 August 1792, the Notre-Dame Cathedral's treasury was looted of all of its liturgical objects, artifacts, and other religious relics. Not long after, the Abbey of Saint-Germain-des-Prés got an even worse deal as it was ransacked during the September Massacres, resulting in hundreds of executions. Among the victims were 22 priests, 135 Swiss guards, and the Princesse de Lamballe. After the massacre, the abbey was converted into a storehouse until 1795 when it was reinstated as a church.
\4]) While Mirabeau's reputation remained largely untarnished until after his death, public criticism of his conduct began as early as 1790 when it was discovered that he had secretly met with Marie Antoinette at the ChĂąteau de Saint-Cloud on 3 July.
\5]) The on-screen text incorrectly dates this memory to 1 April 1791.
\6]) André Chénier finished writing "Le Jeu de Paume" in 1791.
\7]) EugÚne François Vidocq and Charles Cochon de Lapparent appear throughout all of the murder mystery memories. In the initial cutscene for these memories, Lapparent is anachronistically referred to as a police minister by Vidocq. Historically, the Minister of Police position wasn't established in the French government until 1796, and Lapparent served in this position from 3 April 1796 to 16 July 1797. This anachronism creates a potential continuity issue since a large number of the murder mysteries explicitly take place in the years prior. Despite this inaccuracy, it's technically plausible for the murder mysteries to begin in 1791 as during that year there was a short period where Vidocq and Lapparent were both in Paris at the same time. Lapparent was a frequent attendee of the Jacobin Club from late 1789 to around October 1791. Meanwhile, Vidocq was in prison in Paris for a two-week period during the summer or autumn of 1791. Using this evidence, it can be surmised that the initial cutscene and Murder Foretold take place around summer or autumn 1791. The dates for the rest of the murder mysteries are as follows:
- Barber of Seville also happens in 1791 as indicated by a database entry.
- The Red Ghost of the Tuileries happens in 1792 since during the memory, a document indicates that Louis-Michel le Peletier is still alive and the Ministry of Finance is still keeping their offices at the Tuileries Palace, which was no longer the case after the insurrection of 10 August 1792.
- Both The Body in the Brothel and Hot Chocolate to Die For make reference to the Committee of Public Safety, which existed from 1793 to 1795 and was the executive power of the French government during the Reign of Terror. Documents found in The Body in the Brothel indicate that the memory takes place prior to the Marquis de Sade's arrest in December 1793. Hot Chocolate to Die For contains no other specific references so it could take place in either 1793 or 1794.
- Dialogue in The Body Politic indicates that it takes place in 1793 shortly after the execution of Louis XVI.
- The Hand of Science most likely takes place in 1793 prior to the Academy of Sciences being abolished by the National Convention on 8 August.
- The Assassination of Jean-Paul Marat takes place on 14 July 1793, one day after Marat's assassination and the day that Jacques-Louis David began painting "The Death of Marat". Marat's body remained in the tub for another two days so that onlookers could gawk at his corpse before finally being removed on 16 July when the stench became unbearable.
- Documents found in Killed by Science confirm the date to be 13 Thermidor, Year I. On the Gregorian calendar, this date converts to 31 July 1793.
- Both the dialogue and the condition of Aspairt's corpse confirm that The Death of Philibert Aspairt takes place on 3 November 1793, the day that Aspairt disappeared into the Paris catacombs. In real life, his cause of death is unknown and his body wasn't found until 30 April 1804.
- Blind Justice and Equal Justice both take place in August 1794 during Arno's stay in Franciade.
- All remaining murder mysteries give no indication of when they take place. So I've placed them in 1796 or 1797, during Lapparent's term as Minister of Police.
\8]) After being released from the custody of the Austrian government, Théroigne de Méricourt returned to Paris in January 1792. About a month later, she began working with the Jacobin Club to gather arms and supporters for the approaching war with Austria. In addition to this, Théroigne spent most of the spring of 1792 campaigning for women's rights to bear arms, and on 11 March, she distributed a summons for the formation of a battalion of women. These efforts were ultimately unsuccessful and proved unpopular among the Jacobins who promptly turned on her.
\9]) The first working prototype of the guillotine was constructed by Tobias Schmidt and tested by Charles-Henri Sanson in April 1792. A week later on 25 April, Nicolas Jacques Pelletier was the first person to be executed by guillotine.
\10]) In September 1792 during a five-day looting spree, most of the French Crown Jewels were stolen from the Royal Treasury. Most of the jewels were eventually recovered. The Regent and the Hortensia, along with several others, were found hidden in an attic in Paris fifteen months later in December 1793. The Sancy made its way to Russia where it eventually reappeared in 1828 as part of the Rudanovsky collection. The French Blue was eventually smuggled to London where it was recut at some point between 1792 and 1812. The largest remaining piece of the French Blue is now known as the Hope Diamond.
\11]) Marie-Jeanne Bertin, better known as Rose Bertin, served as Marie Antoinette's personal fashion merchant from 1774 to 1792. During the Revolution, Bertin made several trips to England and Germany in 1791 and 1792, which fueled speculation that she was carrying secret messages to foreign leaders on behalf of Marie Antoinette. Bertin returned to Paris in December 1792 to settle some of her accounts before leaving for London in February 1793. She would not return to France until 1800.
\12]) The Unity novel indicates that Arno killed la Touche on the same day that Ălise finds him in Versailles, as by the following day, Arno and Ălise are already back in Paris.
\13]) The political maneuverings of the Revolution often targeted individuals in academia. By 1793, scientists like Antoine Lavoisier and Pierre-Simon Laplace fell under the scrutiny of the National Convention due to their connections to the ancien rĂ©gime. As a former member of the ferme gĂ©nĂ©rale, Lavoisier was arrested on 30 November on charges of fraud and selling watered-down tobacco. He was later convicted and guillotined on 8 May 1794. On 3 October 1793, a warrant was issued for the arrest of Nicolas de Condorcet after he criticized the Montagnard Constitution. Condorcet went into hiding for several months before fleeing Paris on 25 March 1794. Two days later, he was caught and imprisoned in Bourg-l'ĂgalitĂ©. On 29 March, he was found dead in his cell of an apparent suicide. Jean-Dominique, comte de Cassini was arrested on 14 February 1794 simply for being a noble. He spent several months in prison before finally being released on 5 August 1794. Later that month, he retired to his estate in Thury.
\14]) A database entry gives the date of the Bande noire auction as 14 Messidor, which converts to 2 July. The French Republican calendar as adopted by the National Convention began implementation on 22 September 1792. Since Fabre d'Ăglantine, who was guillotined on 5 April 1794, is still alive during this memory, that leaves 2 July 1793 as this memory's only possible date.
\15]) On 28 July 1793, the National Convention declared 21 deputies, several of whom were Girondists, as traitors. The National Guard, led by François Hanriot, was sent to round up the accused deputies for trial before the Revolutionary Tribunal.
\16]) After narrowly escaping death during the September Massacres, Pierre Beaumarchais pledged his services to the new French Republic. He traveled to Holland in an attempt to purchase arms for the French Revolutionary Army but failed to complete the transaction. He briefly returned to Paris during the summer of 1793 before leaving the country again to conduct other business. While he was in Germany in late 1793, he was falsely declared an émigré and forced to spend the next two and a half years in exile. Beaumarchais' stay in Paris during the summer of 1793 coincides with Marguerite Brunet's ownership of the Théùtre National which opened on 15 August. Brunet managed the theatre until she was arrested on 15 November 1793.
\17]) In September 1793 during the Siege of Toulon, Napoleon Bonaparte ordered more artillery to establish another battery. The siege was successful and Toulon was captured by the French Republic. It was during this time that Napoleon's success caught the attention of the Robespierre brothers.
\18]) During Louis Antoine de Saint-Just's term as president of the National Convention in February 1794, he was noted for wearing unusual-looking clothing. This and his rather extreme political positions resulted in rumors circulating that he wore clothing made from human skin. These rumors were unsubstantiated and most likely invented by his political rivals in an attempt to discredit him.
\19]) During this memory, a civilian mentions the Supreme Being. The Cult of the Supreme Being was a deistic cult created by Maximilien Robespierre who intended for it to be France's state religion. It was authorized by the National Convention on 7 May 1794 and inaugurated at the Festival of the Supreme Being on 8 June. Its existence was short-lived as Robespierre was executed on 28 July, rendering the cult defunct. The cult was later officially banned by Napoleon on 8 April 1802.
\20]) Joseph Bara was a 14-year-old French republican drummer boy who was killed by pro-Monarchists at Vendée. He was subsequently hailed as a hero of the Revolution. Historically, Bara's funeral procession to the Panthéon never actually happened. It was originally scheduled for 28 July 1794 but was canceled when Maximilien Robespierre was arrested.
\21]) After his death in 1778, Jean-Jacques Rousseau was buried in Ermenonville, France. In October 1794, it was decided that his remains would be moved to the Panthéon in Paris. While on their way to Paris, the convoy carrying Rousseau's remains passed through Franciade on 11 October.
\22]) Jean-Baptiste Rotondo was arrested in 1793 and spent the next several years in prison while awaiting trial. The last mention of Rotondo in the historical record comes from a court document dated 20 December 1794. Rotondo disappears completely after this, most likely dying in prison at some point in 1795.
\23]) Louis XVII died on 8 June 1795 at the age of 10. He was buried two days later in an unmarked grave at CimetiĂšre Sainte-Marguerite. Shortly after, rumors began circulating that the boy who died was not the Dauphin and that the real Louis XVII was still alive. This created the legend of the Lost Dauphin and over the next several decades, hundreds of people claimed to be the long-lost Louis. It wasn't until 2000 that it was finally proven that the real Louis did die in 1795, based on DNA testing on a heart that was taken from the autopsy of the boy who was buried at Sainte-Marguerite.
\24]) The Council of Five Hundred began holding their meetings at the Palais Bourbon on 21 January 1798.
\25]) Though the game doesn't give a date for this cutscene, it can be determined that it takes place in 1808 since that's the year that Napoleon ordered the Temple to be demolished. Napoleon gave the order in a letter he wrote to Joseph Fouché dated 16 March 1808. The building's demolition began immediately and was completed in two years.
\26]) Marie Anne Lenormand was born in 1772, which actually makes her younger than Arno who was born in 1768. Despite Lenormand's set of memories being available as early as sequence 2, there's ample evidence that they actually take place much later. The game gives her the voice and appearance of an older woman, and depicts her wearing the headscarf that she was known for wearing during her later years (the earliest mention of Lenormand meeting her clients while wearing a wig and headscarf comes from a newspaper dated 1814). Her first memory features unique dialogue that can only be triggered if the memory is played after completing the main story. And the conclusion of the three Flamel's Secret memories where Arno hands her the Elixir of Life seems to be a direct reference to the claims of immortality that she made about herself towards the end of her life. Though Lenormand did live a relatively long life, she was most certainly mortal, dying at the age of 71 in 1843.
\27]) Jean-François Champollion began studying the Rosetta Stone in 1808. Over the years, Champollion continued his research until finally making a breakthrough on 14 September 1822 when he was able to identify the phonetic values of individual hieroglyphs using clues from the Greek and Egyptian inscriptions on the Philae obelisk. Champollion quickly documented his findings and published them on 27 September 1822.

The darkened throne
Britannia 537 AD
The kingdom was thriving under the rule of King Arthur and his roundtable knights, but in the shadows, two key figures plotted against his reign. One was the son of the king himself, Mordred, desperate for the power and fame of being king, and the other being the kingâs lost sister, Morgan Le Fay, the only sorcerer skilled enough to challenge the kingâs advisor and mentor, Merlin. Driven by the chance to become queen and make her name known, she joined with Mordred. If Arthur fell, Mordred would rise to the throne as the heir, but getting Arthur to fall would be a task no one living could succeed with brute force by one item that he would always keep with him, the sheath of excalibur. âTch. Damn lady of the lake giving my father such an item. I doubt you can even steal it off of him without losing your head.â Mordred mutters, sitting next to a fire within a damp cave. âPatience Mordred. Patience. When the time is right, all shall be sorted and the throne shall be yours. Everything is already in motion.â Morgan says, sitting away from the fire and in a darkened corner. âYeah yeah, just wait for your plan to come into practice, kill father, and Iâll get the throne and all the glory. Why do you even care so much about this plan? You tell me that it will work, but you get nothing from it, not even the fame from killing my father.â âYou doubt my plan? I take it you suspect me of betrayal.â âWell, thatâs the blunt way of putting it. You say your plan will make me king, but how do I know it wonât get me killed.â Mordredâs blade slides out of its sheath, the point aimed at Morgan. The air grew cold as the fire died, the darkness of the cave the only thing visible. âIt is unwise to question the one who can make you king. And I thought it would be obvious why I work with you. To put it simply, I want my brother dead. He was out in the light while I was forced to the shadows. He received countless divine blessings while I was shunned by the gods. That is why I want his head. Now, do you still doubt me? Or shall I do this by myself and take the throne?â Mordred grunts as he sheaths his blade, the flame returning again. âFine, have it your way. As long as I get the throne, I donât care for your reasoning.â Night fell, and the two left the cave, approaching Camelot. A single spy watched from the shadowed trees. âRemember the plan, you charge the palace and target Guinevere. My presence should be enough to draw out my brother.â Morgan says, purposefully within earshot of the spy. âThe knights are gone on quests, so you shall be fine to reach her. Once you reach her, you can decide what you do with her.â Hearing this, the spy leaps into action and runs to the palace, only spotted by Morgan who smirked in response. âMy King, horrible news!â The spy yells as he bursts into the throne room. King Arthur stands from his throne, giving a nod to receive the news. âMorgan Le Fay and Mordred are approaching Camelot, and Mordred is targeting the queen herself!â Arthur grits his teeth as he reaches for the hilt of excalibur, drawing the blade and removing the sheath from his hip. He hands the sheath to Guinevere with a bow. âI shall return once they are dealt with. Hold onto the sheath for until I return, it shall keep you safe from our sonâs blade.â He turns and leaves the throne room, walking through the dark streets of Camelot to meet the two traitors in the fields outside. âYou two seek to end the age of peace this land is experiencing for your own gain? To think I share blood with you both.â Arthur sighs as Mordred reaches for his blade. Morgan holds her hand out in front of Mordred, holding him back and then signalling for him to storm the castle. âYour fight is with me brother. We both know that your son is no match for either of us.â âThe time for words is over dear sister. You threaten both myself and my wife, this shall end with your head separated from your neck. I shall give you the honour of not holding back.â âVery well brother. Letâs see if you are strong enough without your immortality.â Arthur darts forward, swinging excalibur to kill. Morgan raises a wall of ice for defence. The blade cut through but Morgan was already out of its range. Arthur readies another swing as Morgan sends a wave of fire at the king. He drops his offensive stance and flicks his fingers to create an opposing wave of water. âSo Merlin taught you some magic as well. Interesting.â Morgan teases as she summons two stone walls around him. Arthur dives to the side to dodge as a ring of fire appears beneath him. A tall pillar of flames rises from beneath him, engulfing King Arthur. The flames dissipate revealing the burnt king, his feet still firmly on the ground. âYou still stand? Why donât you kneel for the future queen.â âWhile I stand, you shall not achieve the throne.â His breath was ragged as the blade of excalibur began to glow golden. âLetting you rise to the throne will bring despair to this land, and as its king, I cannot let that stand. We may be related by blood, but our ideals couldnât be more different. Your ideals end here with you alongside them.â Arthur raises excalibur up to the sky as the blade glows a heavenly gold. He swings it down and an arc of glowing gold shoots out and flies at Morgan. The blade cuts Morgan in twain as it passes through and Arthurâs body relaxes. However, the body fades away rather than fall like a corpse. A spike of ice shoots up from the ground behind Arthur, piercing his heart, red blood dripping down the cold spike. âI told you that I would be taking the throne. And Merlin may have taught you magic, but he taught you nowhere near the true limits of it.â Morgan says, reappearing behind Arthur. âResorting to such petty tricks. I shouldnât have expected any less from you.â Arthur softly says with his final breath. Excalibur drops to the ground as Arthurâs body goes limp. The ice sharply retracts and Arthur falls to the ground as a corpse. A year later, Mordred had been crowned king of Britannia, but the citizens remained in mourning for King Arthur. In comparison to his father, Mordred was the worst king to grace the land. Any who questioned his authority were slain on the spot for the smallest of trespasses. A wave of poverty and famine swept the wave and Mordred did nothing to help his people. This wave was treated as a sign from god that Mordred was not the true king, and instead was a curse to the land. A rebellion attempted to overtake the throne but were ruthlessly killed by Mordredâs army for daring to face the king. Morgan had disappeared from the country since the fall of Arthur, until exactly a year after Arthurâs death. A hooded figure strolled into the throne room, any guard who attempted to stop the figure dropped dead. Mordred looked down from his throne at the figure. âWho dares to enter the kingâs throne room? This is as good as treason. Not only have you casually entered the kingâs throne room, but you have killed the kingâs guards.â Mordred asks, looking down at the figure. âIt has been a long time, Mordred. Do you remember my voice?â âHave you come to congratulate me for achieving the throne you foul witch?â âSuch a harsh greeting. But I am not here to congratulate you. Instead, Iâm here for your throne instead.â Mordred laughs at Morganâs words. âChallenge for my throne? Do you know how many Iâve killed for saying that? You shall be the next on the list.â Mordred stands up from his throne and rushes down at Morgan who remains standing there. She clicks her fingers and one spike of ice shoots out from the ground, impaling Mordredâs stomach. âYour strength is nothing compared to your fatherâs.â Another five spikes shoot out, each piercing Mordred from various angles. Morgan struts past Mordredâs suspended body before she clicks her fingers and it drops to the ground. She sits down on the throne and removes her cloak. âThe true queen of Britannia is here.â
Valhalla arena
Morganâs hand reforms and she clenches and opens her hand, feeling all sensation in it. âAs good as new.â âThat damn witch didn't even use her full capabilities to kill me.â Mordred scowls. âSheâs not yet using the enhancements gained from her labour.â Arthur mutters, standing next to Heracles. âShe was capable of all this when facing me. The healing was just much slower.â âInterestingâŠâ Heracles muses. âShe has full mastery over its capabilities then. Natural strength capable of rivalling a god is impressive.â âLook at him up there, acting like heâs better than us.â Golena comments. âI believe it is time we begin to up the heat here Golena. Let us see how much your extra strength improves my spells.â Morgan points her staff up to the angel above who prepared his scythe to retaliate. Air swirls around the tip of the staff and fires out as a blade as Azrael shoots down to attack. He dodges to the left to avoid. The blade flies past, a cloud of feathers and an entire wing joining it. The crowd watches in shock as Azrael plummets to the ground, his flight disrupted as his wing drops to the ground slowly. âImpressive. A nice clean cut and much faster.â Morgan smugly says. âTo lose a wing is a disgrace to any angel. To think a human could be so cruel to force one of us into shame.â Gabriel says. Azrael remains laying on the ground for a bit causing murmurs to spread throughout the arena. âIs he dead? Has humanity gotten a win in ragnarok?â Ares asks. âWait no, look!â Ishtar announces as Azraelâs remaining wing shifts. Azrael rises to his feet, his eyes wide as he stares down Morgan. Throughout the arena echoes a sound no one there expected to ever hear. Azraelâs lips parted as he began to maniacally laugh. âHeâs finally lost it.â Zeus mutters. âYou filthy bitch.â Azrael says, pointing his scythe at Morgan.

2024.05.09 19:45 Serious-Strategy6266 Is this the girl from the vault
I believe this is the same girl from The vault and possibly one of Arthur's few citizens that are left who didn't leave him and it makes me wonderful maybe see a few more people from The vault and through
these people who are original citizens of Camelot will maybe start to get flashbacks from their point of view of how things started to change and how
Arthur started to rebuild his kingdom I think that be cool if we got to see how everything changed from others points of view regarding Arthur and Camelot and then get the full story from Arthur's point of view at some point

So lately I've been thinking about Nintendo making another Smash game after Ultimate. And I'm kinda sad to see that Sonic is the only Smash character that's part of the Sonic franchise. *Little note on Cyberspace: I think it's a good idea to mix between levels of Cyberspace like going from level to level transitions of Cyberspace from Sonic Frontiers
That's all! Little note there's high chances not all of these maps and characters will be in the next smash game. I justed listed these out cause I thought they would be cool ideas and recommendations . Who knows, maybe some of these maps and Characters from the Sonic Franchise will come next game.

2024.05.06 20:50 FancyFireDrake Operation Fate Order Mission Report
Operation: Fate Order Mission Report: XX.XX.XXXX â XX.XX.XXXX On the [REDACTED] of [REDACTED] the united Jumper groups of Yang Xiao Long (Remnant Designation [REDACTED]) and Eve Taurus von Hresvelg (Remnant Designation Unknown) went into a united Operation against the Multiverse spanning Anti Jumpchain terrorist cell known as the Chainbreakers. Lead by Gorr the Godbutcher, the groups latest action was to stop the emergence of Jumpers from the Fate/Nasuverse. The benefactor identified with these attempted Chainstarting events was Alaya, the Human Order trying to prepare against the TYPE Invasion. The way by which Alaya intended to start Chains was specialized Holy Grail imitations, connected to the CP force and boosting magical power comparable to Goetias Ars Nova. The chosen servants were supposed to come across them and make the choice to Jump themselves. 10 Potential Jumpers have been located and groups send to judge how beneficial Alayas chosen would be as a Jumper and if needed defend them from Chainbreaker attacks. Lethal force is not authorized. Reports: 1: Garden of Avalon Operative: Jaune Jumper Emergent: Artoria Pendragon Chainbreaker: Empress of Mankind Mission Success Mission History: Jaune Arc, in memory of his mentor Pyhrra Nikos and what he wanted to be so long ago, chose the Legend Jump with a connection to the King of Knights. His purchases allowed him to be a Knight unmatched even by Lancelot and Gawain together, wielding his own version of Excalibur. Upon entering the Jump he departed to Artoriaâs castle, at the same time as the resident chainbreaker. Said chainbreaker has been identified as a vastly less powerful and genderbend version of the God Emperor of Mankind. NOTE: If said original Warhammer 40K universe had the Emperor naturally as a woman or if a Jumper had something to do with it is not known. It is also possible the Empress chose to take this form to manipulate Artoria better. Artoria had heard about the Grail from Merlin and it was believed that with its power Camelot could be saved from the Quantum lock, stopping its destined fall. The Empress sought to manipulate Artoria into joining the Chainbreakers and surrendering the Grail where Jaune had intervened. On Artoriaâs suggestion both Jaune and the Empress were allowed to make their case in a debate. Reportedly the Empress doomed herself for a loss when she said âI know I am rightâ upon which Jaune quickly countered that this rhetoric was exactly why she was destined too fail, laser focus on ones own belief to be worthy ultimately only running the risk of suffering and destroying yourself and those around you. Touched by Jaunes honesty, Artoria chose his side. The Empress proceeded to instantly choose the route of Violence rather than risk Artoria becoming a Jumper, having used psyker powers to previously steal Avalon. Her life was saved by Mordred jumping in between the two of them. NOTE: Mordred was not known to be the child of Morgan and Artoria and still hiding beneath her helmet. The moment of surprise wasted, the Knights of the Round Table jumped the Empress, who was ultimately banished by both Jaune and Artoria unsealing all 13 Seals on Excalibur. NOTE: The fact that the Empress seemed to be a valid target for all restrictions placed on Excalibur (among them including that the battle must be defending the Human Order and that The battle must not be against Humanity) shows worrying implications about the Empress current state of mind and nature. Upon the Empress banishment Mordred was left comatose, with Artoria and Jaune alongside Galahad departing to retrieve the Grail to both save her life and save Camelot, by Artoria taking it with her along her own chain. Jaune has refused to talk about the events of their journey in detail but mentioned that Morgan stood in their way and Artoria discovered Mordreds true identity. Upon returning to Camelot, without Galahad, Mordred was healed and preparations made to initiate the first Jump. NOTE: Mordred had turned down being one of Artorias companions after the two had a heart to heart, unsure of her supposed destiny after Artoria explained why she didnât want her to become a King but still accepted her. She was last seen wielding Rhongomyniad and departing on good terms as Artoria started the Jump. Jaune Arc himself, despite his mission being successful, remained in fate a while longer, now an Agent of the counterforce. He would be summoned in future confrontations in the Fate world labelled as âThe Rusted Knightâ. 2: Baba Yaga Operative: Eve and her companions Jumper Emergent: Ivan the Terrible Chainbreaker: Artoria Pendragon Mission Partial Success Mission History: Eve Taurus von Hresvelgr alongside her companions resolved to tackle one of the locations as a group. Due to its unique circumstances, a Russia lost in an Eternal Blizzard under rule of a mutated Ivan the Terrible, it seems this approach was necessary to have any chance of success. The Grail had already been found by Ivans forces, however the mentally shattered Tyrant could not figure out how to use the Grail, hoping to instead of departing on a chain use it to stop the Blizzard and neverending Ice Age. Misunderstanding Eves intentions Ivan ordered them to be hunted down. Blade Wolf remaining with Mordred in the city undercover whereas Eve, Edelgard, Naofumi, Raphtalia and Shadow investigated an uprising among the various villages. This uprising was due to the chainbreaker Artoria Pendragon trying to rebel against the Tyrant and retrieve the Grail. NOTE: Artoria was the only character native from Fate to be a part of the Chainbreakers. Why she chose to be a part of this Jump when her country of Brittain was a target as well is unclear. NOTE: Eves Mordred, upon discovering the identity of the Chainbreaker forsook peaceful options in interacting with her. A three way war broke out between Eves group Artorias rebellion and Ivans forces. In the climactic final fight, Ivan was crippled and finally talked down enough to understand what the Grail can do. Ivan, seeing himself as undeserving of what Jumpchain offered, requested that the Grail instead be used to give his world a chance of survival. Abiding by his wish, Shadow and Eve used chaos Control to tap into the Grails reserves and used it to restore the world. Artoria, satisfied that Ivan would not be a Jumper and heavily wounded from the fight, tried to extract herself only to be stopped by Eves own Mordred, also heavily wounded. Father and son from different worlds duelled, ending with Mordred succeeding in striking down Artoria and impaling her with her own Rhongomyniad lance. It was at this moment that Artoria was reported to be smiling, baffling Mordred as she explained her own past. Her Jumper sided with Morgan le Fay and was going to bring down Camelot. Using corruptive Perks he was able to sway all the Knights of the Roundtable, except Mordred who was always meant to be a hidden Weapon. Going against her indoctrination, Mordred sided with Artoria and died to keep Artoria safe before Gorr and Weiss arrived. Artoria apologized to her son for whatever she suffered by her hands, before passing out. When the others came, they found Mordred desperately trying to keep Artoria alive. NOTE: Artoria is reported as being in a coma but is expected to make a full recovery, All Black separated from her body. 3: Nirvana Yuga Operative: Sun and Leone Jumper Emergent: Arjuna Chainbreaker: Sonic Mission Succesrate unclear Mission History: Sun and Leone entered one of the strongest and most dangerous periods and locations of Fate history. Ancient india was full with war, bloodshed and demons but none would be as dangerous as an up and coming Godking. Already being in possession of the Grail, he held of on using it until he absorbed every deity of the Indian pantheon. Something happened with the Hero named Arjuna that made him desire complete power by absorbing the abilities of other deities. By the time Sun and Leone realized what was happening deities fell one after another. This was when they were saved by the rampaging Arjuna by the resident Chainbreaker: Sonic the Hedgehog. Having previously saved Karna from Arjuna, Sonic proposed working together and protect the Multiverse and its freedom from Arjunas rapidly growing obsessive and oppressive control. Seeing that this potential Jumper could cause more harm than good, Sun and Leone agreed on the one of a kind teamwork. Using Sonics powers of Chaos Control, Speedster powers and demonic essence, Suns enlightenment, Leones items (among others Brahmastra, the Beasts Crown as well as Karrvacha and Kundala) and Karnas own return to snap Arjuna out of his âperfectâ mindset, the alliance managed to defeat Arjuna, free the divine spirits and give him a semblance of peace in death. Sun and Leone retrieved the Grail and gave it to Karna so he may become a Jumper instead. The Hero of Charity instead gave it to Sonic when the Hedgehog politely asked. NOTE: Although the world was saved and Sonic proved to be the most cooperative Chainbreaker by FAR, no Jumper managed to go on a chain and the Grail was lost. Sun and Leone themselves are unclear if they could call it a success or failure. 4: Land of Shadows Operative: Slayer and Daisy Jumper Emergent: Scathach Chainbreaker: Guts Mission Success Mission History: The Slayer and his Pet Rabbit turned Mobian turned daughter Daisy arrived in the Land of Shadows. They quickly managed to identify Scathach as the most likely person to qualify for a Chainbreaker target. And indeed Scathach had already gained the specialized Grail. Curious about its nature, when Daisy revealed its power, Scathach was intrigued and hoped to encounter worthy opponents during her own future chain, perhaps one who can give her a true fight to the death. Upon being warned that a Chainbreaker would come for her, Scathach looked excited, opting to delay her Chainstarting event until she fought the Chainbreaker. Scathach also decided to train both the Slayer and Daisy in the meantime. A few months later a man in black, wielding a sword more akin to a raw heap of iron, slaughtered hs way through the Land of Shadows. Scathach greeted him warmly and accepted his challenge of a duel. Slayer and Daisy stayed on the sidelines by her request. Scathach and Guts were evenly matched throughout the entirety of the fight and battled for days with no break. However seemingly reacting to a potential defeat, Guts transformed. What was first expected to be the Berserker Armor soon turned out to be instead an Apostel transformation. Guts Apostel Form Upon being asked to explain what was happening, Guts angrily remarked that this was the result of his Jumper encounter. Desperate to defeat Griffith, his Jumper forcefully made Guts undergo Ascension into an Apostel that could kill the combined Godhand, using the souls of Casca, Puck, Isidro, Farnese, Serpico, Schierke, and many others. While this transformation allowed Guts to kill the Godhand, it was impossible for the Jumper to retrieve the Souls again, leaving Guts eternally distant from those closest to him. He killed his Jumper himself as a final act of avenging his companions before being found by Gorr and Weiss. Scathach, deeply saddened by what she was hearing, was reported to fight differently from there on, not allowing herself to be slain by a Monster and devoted to ending Guts misery. The following fight laster 12 hours before Guts went for the killing blow against a severely injured Scathach. At this point the Slayer entered the fight himself, duelling Guts for another 24 hours. Finally they managed to defeat Guts and calm him down enough for Daisy to make him a deal. If they can find a way to retrieve his companions from his soul and Apostel form, he would seize to be a chainbreaker. The remainder of the Jump was spent trying to locate various gods and divinities, killing Monsters and experimenting with various Rune magics. Upon using Scathachs grail in a complicated ritual, Guts was fially reunited with at first casca and than the rest of his companions. Guts was last scene retiring in the peaceful Norse nature alongside his loved ones, parting with Slayer, Daisy and Scathach in mutual respect. Scathach herself opted to, instead of becoming a Jumper herself, accompany Slayer and the person he followed as an additional companion. According to Daisy, she is now referred to as her mother. 5: Land of the Rising Sun Operative: Yorha Jumper Emergent: Amakusa Shirou Chainbreaker: Butcher Mission Partial Success Mission History: The Androids of Yorha have over time become an even more elite group of soldiers than their creator ever thought they could be. Using their united purchases from Rising Sun, they furthermore improved their capability based on unity and teamwork. Each one is a mechanized ninja with physical capabilities of Greek machine heroes and an expert in the Ninja arts. Using a certain purchase they can summon a darkness the more of them are united and as long as one of them lives the others will eventually return due to their circumstances. Albeit they ended up in the sights of Youkai and among other things had to deal with aggressive insects and fearsome swallows. The target was found quickly in Amakusa Shirou, in the middle of his rebellion against the tyrants wanting to wipe out his faith. After analysing the situation the three Yorha Units in charge, 2B, 9S and A2, decided to support Amakusa in his goals and prevented what was supposed to be their canonical end. Hearing of the Grail, first found by the Edo Shogunate, Amakusa wanted to use its power to create a âLand without Evilâ upon departing this world with his people. In an infiltraton A2 managed to get the Grail, but was surprised by the chainbreaker. This one was labelled as William âBillyâ Butcher. Fighting over it, the Grail was shattered as A2 retreated, now only possessing 4 out of 7 needed shards, Plans were made to create a portion of the country where they could practice their faith without fear and to find the 4 remaining pieces again when the Chainbreaker attacked. Butcher massacred his way through Amakusas army, even Yohra units unable to match him. NOTE: 9S theorized that through some means Butcher has the effects of a Perk that allows you to ignore numerical disadvantage. Furthermore it is not known of the slaughter of Amakusas man was something ordered by Gorr as it would go against the Chainbreakers modus operandi. Butcher confronted Amakusa directly, beating him within an inch of his life before the remaining Yorha units (now less than two dozen from their original 200) managed to evacuate him. From what was shared, Butcher was not content simply killing Amakusa but also wanted to break his faith, most likely because of his own experiences with Christianity and corrupt heroes. Quotes among others included: âThe only man in the sky⊠laughs at your suffering.â Amakusa, still clinging to his faith, was deeply impacted by the massacre. It was only due to the support of 2B that he was able to move onward, hearing about Yorhas own story of eternal battle before they became companions. Hunted by Butcher, the remaining Yorha hetched a plan. Implanting one of the Grail shards into Amakusa and the rest inside of them, they knew Butcher was keeping the rest on his person. Using Genjutsu, the trinity of leaders was able to trick Butcher into losing his Grailshards, their own upon defeat going to Amakusa who was able to use the complete Grail to go on his Jump. With the Bunkers systems, his dead man were able to come along as followers in empty android bodies. Butcher was last seen trying to track down the last members of Yorha before he was called back, departing with visible rage and frustration. 6: Vive la France Operative: Minako, Aigis Jumper Emergent: Jeanne Dâarc Alter Chainbreaker: Cynthia Mission Success Mission History: Minako and Aigis were recruited from Persona 3 together and have chosen to challenge Vive la France together as well. The former becoming a Saint and the later becoming a Knight, they soon discovered this variant of France to be much different. Jeanne Dâarc, famously a merciful woman of god, was instead present in an altered state, commanding tamed dragons to strike down enemies of France violently. This seemed to have happened after Jeanne alter begged to be saved from the flames of her own execution and was barely saved by a dragon. She turned her wrath both on the people who wanted her dead and the enemies she already made. Minako and Aigis were first to retrieve the Grail, trying to calm Jeanne Alter down and bring the saints well known mercy back. At the same time the Pokemon Trainer Cynthia, with an army of Pokemon, showed up and challenged the Dragon Witchs rule. As later conversations showed Cynthia became a chainbreaker after a Jumper tried to enslave the Pokemon race as a whole, abusing them and experimenting on any who were remaining. This cruelty enraged Cynthia who agreed to aid Gorr under the belief that Jumpers could not value any life but their own. Although the experiments ended up uplifting the human race, it was still deemed unacceptable by Cynthia to have the only remaining Pokemon that werenât wiped out essentially left as Servitors or lobotomized weapons of war. Wielding All Black enhanced Pokemon teams she managed to overpower Jeanne Alter, who once again begged to be saved and had Minako and Aigis respond to her call. The battle ended when Aigis took a lethal blow meant for Minako at the same time as Jeanne Alters first dragon suffered a fatal blow from Garchomps attacks. Stunned by the sacrifice and even more so by Minakos and Jeanne Alters grief of loss, Cynthia stopped the fight and retrieved two Phoenix Downs to be used on the fallen. Although peaceful discussion afterwards were tense, Cynthia ultimately surrendered as long as Jeanne Alter would never ever abuse her dragons. Jeanne agreed and used the Grail to become a Jumper, departing to parts unknown as she believed this world no longer was meant for her. Minako and Aigis offered to find a new World for Cynthia to go to. Cynthia agreed and cut her link from the Chainbreakers as long as her Pokemon could go with her. 7: Empires of Antiquity Operative: Zero and Asriel Jumper Emergent: Nero Chainbreaker: Miguel Mission Fail Mission History: Zero and Asriel arrived in The city of Rome during the reign of Nero. A figure of much controversy, this Nero was close to approaching a breaking point between either dying or becoming an individual known as Beast VI. Zero, who has in the past allowed Ultron to become a force for good, and Asriel, who has his own experiences regarding loss of morality and corruption, tried to bring her back from her madness as well as stop various atrocities that turned out because of Rome. That was when they discovered their Chainbreaker, Miguel Oâhara or also known as Spiderman 2099, who refused to let them alter the timeline and risk this entire world being âprunedâ. NOTE: When angrily asked by Asriel if he likes what he does, Miguel bluntly said he hates himself. Both Zero and Asriel do not wish to discuss in depth what happened in Rome but consider the mission as a whole a complete and utter failure with Miguel retrieving the Grail himself and Nero dying alone and left with her madness and regrets. 8: God Save the Queen Operative: Neo and Tecora Jumper Emergent: ??? Chainbreaker: Weiss Schnee Mission Fail Mission History: Tecora and Neo were among the strangest companions of Yangs group. Tecora, being a different personality of Yang altogether and Neo being an attempt by Adam to create the perfect Assassin to kill Yang so she could have Roman Torchwick back. After some early troubles with Neo and because of Tecoras immediate love towards the girl the two ended up becoming a surprisingly terrifying duo in combat. NOTE: its theorized that the reason Tecora became so enarmored with Neo was because of Neoâs own status as someone with split personalities. The duo became a terrifying pair of Pirates, Tecora surpassing even Francis Drake with what should be impossible being possible by her and Neo being even more lethal than Jack the Ripper could be. They went on various adventures before finally discovering the âRace for the Grailâ. A treasure hunt for the Grail that the greatest pirates in the world sought to claim. While the belief was that it would merely grant wishes, Tecora and Neo knew this was the Grail they were seeking and that could start a chain. After at first engaging in some fun bouts of combat, trying to gauge who was most worthy of being a Jumper, all racers arrived at the Island. Than all of a sudden a violent blizzard froze the very ocean from shore to shore as the Chainbreaker of this mission made herself known. Weiss Schnee. Using the moment of surprise she killed half the racers for the Grail. Tecora and Neo were overwhelmed with various summons. NOTE: The summons Weiss unleashed were among other things the Remnant Brother Gods, DCâs Doomsday and various other individuals that are rumoured to be Jumpers she killed. Tecora and Neo were unable to secure the Grail or rescue any of the other Pirates chasing for it. After conversing with Tecora, seeing her as a âviolationâ embodying her friend Yang and seeing Neo as âtea pouring scumâ that outstayed her welcome, Weiss tried to kill her only to be barely stopped by the Rusted Knight and Chara, who had appeared in response to an emergency summon. Weiss departed leaving Tecora and Neo with nothing but their life. NOTE: This was the first time in the entirety of Yangs chain that Tecora suffered a loss. NOTE: Neo does not know what Weiss meant with Tea pouring scum. It is possible that Weiss blames her for something she was going to do had Remnant not been invaded by Adam. 9: Strange New World Operative: Ironwood and Chara Jumper Emergent: Tesla/Edison Chainbreaker: Syndrome Mission Success Mission History: General James Ironwood and Chara arrived in perhaps the most modern variation of Fate. NOTE: Thanks to using her purchases as a Strange Being Chara was able to appear at different points in other Fate Legends Operations, traveling through the various timelines it seems. The unlikely duo consisting of an Eldritch powered child and the skilled general encountered Nikola Tesla and Thomas Edison separately and were convinced of their nature as a chosen Jumper by Alaya. A Chainbreaker could not be found, instead the two trying to mediate between the geniuses. It was than that the resident Chainbreaker, identified as the Incredibles Villains Syndrome, send out a message. Having kidnapped Helena Blavatsky, Tesla and Edison were supposed to journey to Nomanisanisland, located in the Pacific if they wanted to rescue her. The two geniuses in a rare display of unity departed, with Ironwood and Chara following closely, infiltrating the Island and workin against Syndrome in the background, wanting to discover his true goals. As was later revealed, Syndrome had already managed to steal the Grail for himself and for an unknown project of the Chainbreakers wanted the trio of scientific or magical geniuses to study it for him, doing so in a series of challenging trials against his creations. Each one perfected his work more and more to the point the trio was faced with a Grail Powered Omnidroid. The Omnidroid came close to killing all three geniuses until Chara managed to extract the Grail, Ironwood defeat it with skilled shots and Syndrome was forced to retreat, not before attempting to blow up the whole island with them. Thanks to Helena and a strange disk they managed to escape with the Grail intact. The trio after some squabbling decided to go on a chain all together, Tesla and Edison locked in an eternal contest about whose inventions would benefit humanity across the Multiverse more and Helena resolving to discover the secrets of all magic and keeping an eye on them. 10: Oasis of Fantasy Operative: Yang and Blake Jumper Emergent: Gilgamesh Chainbreaker: Issei Hyodou Mission Success Mission History: Yang and Blake as the most seasoned fighters entered the most ancient time period with perhaps the most dangers. As the equals of Gilgamesh and Enkidu respectively (in Blakes case also receiving Perks to match the First Hassan) the two ventured the world trying to locate the Grail and gather intel. Over the course of which they ended up getting the attention of the Gods for better and for worse (particularly that of two certain goddesses). Discovering one third of a broken Grail, the duo finally resolved to journey to Uruk. The Epic of Gilgamesh had been fully at play, Enkidu and Gilgamesh meeting and slowly transforming the King of Heroes into a wise ruler for his people. When Yang and Blake arrived Uruk was locked in war with forces of the Chainbreaker in question, Issei Hyoudou. The Chainbreakers first fight with Gilgamesh, not believing humanities oldest bully to be worthy of going on a chain, ended with the splitting of the Grail into three parts. One now wielded by each group. This attack happened in response to Gilgamesh announcing he would take his kingdom on a chain but delaying doing so due to his arrogance. Furthermore, the first battle ended with Enkidu being mysteriously poisoned by All Black, left comatose to Gilgameshâs grief. The battle Uruk was facing was deemed as a matter the Gods would, due to some of Gilgameshs own affronts, stay neutral in. Ishtar in particular seemed amused to such a degree that she had not yet unleashed the Bull of Heaven. Isseis army consisted of Offspring of the dormant laying Tiamat further enhanced with offsprings of All Black and obeying his orders. It is suspected he got this power through combining Boosted Gear with other OOC abilities. Yang and Blake intervened in a direct battle, managing to separate Issei from All Black infection. Issei still continued to fight and merge back with the symbiote of his own will, proving that All Black was not corrupting their mental state. Issei was still eventually overwhelmed and had to flee. Still locked in a stalemate in the war with the Red Dragon Emperor, while still wanting to resolve things in a peaceful way, the pair of Huntresses introduced themselves to Gilgamesh proper. With some experimentation, Enkidu was awoken by using the two shards of the Grail as a power source, though considerably weakened. Upon further reflection, it was decided to get the help of the so far neutral Gods. For that end Yang and Blake were send out by Gilgamesh to negotiate. NOTE: During meetings with Ishtar it was stated the Goddess had already met Issei first before any of them and was insulted that he looked utterly unfazed by her beauty. This lack of a reaction to a beautiful woman was considered alarming by the Jumper and Companion. Through carefully navigating the mess that was divine emotions, Yang and Blake were eventually able to convince Ishtar and Ereshkigal to side with Uruk, leading for rapid advancements in the war against Tiamats offspring from all sides. It was at this point that Issei had on orders of Gorr awoken Tiamat herself, now corrupted with All Black. It appears that due to both Tiamats and Isseis desire to be loved they managed to connect as she lay dreaming. NOTE: Issei insisted this to be a purely parent to son version of love and was offended when someone implied he was attracted to her. Battling the Mother of Genesis, Yang forced a duel between herself and Issei as the rest were trying to delay Tiamat. After defeating him Yang demanded to know who he was doing all of this for. Upon Issei replying that he was doing it for his loved ones, Yang demanded to know when was the last time he even bothered to see them. The Huntress told him, that if he really was doing this for his loved ones, he would be with them now and they could have together tried to heal from what a Jumper had done to them. Issei was silent upon that rebuttal, eventually showing a degree of self hatred for himself for not being strong enough and asking Yang if the Jumper had been correct, if he HAD been unworthy of Boosted Gear and his chances. Yang countered that worthiness only comes in response to who you are and what you do and urged him to truly read Tiamats mind and what she was truly thinking. Upon discovering the depths of Tiamats grief and madness, not wanting another loved one to suffer, he agreed to help stop her as long as Yang could promise to save her. In the concluding battle, Tiamat was freed from both All Black, having grown more violent and independent in contrast to the shard of Gorrs symbiote Issei was with, and her insanity. Yang and Blake promised to send them both to Isseis original world so that Tiamat could be free from her situation and Issei try to heal, as well as having their own group on speed dial if anyone ever WERE to threaten his home again. Gilgamesh, for his part humbled by the experiences and having truly come into being a worthy King of Heroes, was still challenged to one final battle by Issei. Gilgamesh was afterwards given the final shard of Issei. NOTE: Issei seems to have obtained something akin to Fay Eyes allowing him to see lies or deceptions. Realizing Gilgamesh truly wouldnât become the kind of Jumper that hurt him, he decided to let him go. With Issei and Tiamat departing and Gilgamesh taking Enkidu and Uruk with him on a chain, Yang and Blake left behind to oversee if any last Chainbreaker influence remained. âŠThis was when Weiss and Gorr themselves had appeared, having surveiled the various chainbreaker operations in every Jump and time period. Overwhelming them with the element of surprise⊠Yang was lost in a dimensional vortex summoned by the Godbutcher, him and Weiss leaving Blake behind. 2024.05.01 20:10 blargdag Orb of Yendor strategies for various lands
What are the strategies for getting an orb of Yendor in each land? Is it possible for all lands, or possible only for some?
Here are the "easy" lands, where the strategy is simply to use dead orbs (or ivy or cthulhu tentacle) to find your way back from the key:
- Crossroads
- Icy land
- Hunting ground
- Jungle (somewhat harder due to growing Ivy, but in theory possible)
- Jelly kingdom
- Warped coast (though very dangerous in practice)
- Caribbean (can also use boats as breadcrumbs instead of dead orbs)
- Graveyard
- Haunted woods (can even collect dead orbs while you're tracking down the key, since they spawn here)
- Hive
- Burial grounds (may be tricky if you run out of orb of the sword and monsters spawn)
- Windy plains (annoying because winds blow away orbs; but practically it merely limits where you can drop dead orbs)
- Blizzard
- Camelot (but in practice you'll end up going into other lands since Camelot is not infinite)
- Prairie (tricky if you need to cross a bulls' path, but not impossible)
- Terracota army (may need to kill some terracotta warriors on your way, annoying but definitely possible)
- Hell (who has actually done it here?? originally it's supposed to be done here but everybody I've talked to prefer another land :-D)
- Palace (but may need very big detours if you cannot find the needed green tiles)
- Brown island (but may need boats to make trail if it leads through water)
Here are other "easy" lands where characteristics of the land itself make it easy to find your way back:
- Minefield (though in practice I find it absolutely annoying when you run into "walls" of bombs)
- Ivory Tower (build a tower from dead gargoyles to get to the key, trivial to find your way back)
- Emerald Mine (use Miners to create a trail of black tiles -- can also use dead orbs to dig through walls yourself)
- Ocean (use boats instead of dead orbs, but tricky if the path crosses into a difficult land like whirlpool). No breadcrumbs needed when crossing beaches to/from another land because of the way the geometry works.
- Living fjord (can be tricky if changing landscape swallows your orbs; but possible using boats -- also, may need to build a bridge of dead trolls to bring up submerged key if it gets generated in a water tile)
The following lands are harder because of the land's characteristics, or because the native monsters make it hard to do it:
- Living cave: need to find enough orbs of earth to make it possible to dig through walls. Not impossible, but can be quite hard.
- Desert: sandworms may block your way; makes it tricky to get to the key and back even though theoretically it should be possible.
- Eternal motion: in theory, should be easy since you could just backtrack your path of collapsed floors. Spawning dogs make it impossible though, since their path would cut off yours. But possible if you exploit slimes to make a stable path to the key that you can retrace your steps on.
- Alchemist lab: hard because sliming destroys orbs within its splash radius. But possible if you carve a wide path of a single color to the key.
- Zebra: in theory there's always a path around any collapsed floors. But the detours may become impractically big, and it's easy to get cornered by dogs.
- Reptiles: in theory possible, but waking reptiles can remove dead orbs in your trail, and it may take a lot of effort to build bridges across large chasms.
- Wetlands: likely need orbs to cross blocked paths (water and walls). Also, monsters are quite dangerous here.
- Yendorian forest: the key may get generated outside any trees. Will need to teleport your way upwards (and find enough orbs to do so), and be prepared to deal with spawning birds. In theory possible, but very, very hard. Getting back to the orb is trivial once you have the key though.
- R'lyeh: fast-growing ivy and tentacles can obstruct your path, making it tough to make your way back to the orb after reaching the key. The plus is that you can use tentacles instead of orbs to backtrack.
- Free fall: the key falls per turn, so you need to chase it after reaching its original location. In theory possible (and way back is trivial), but quite challenging.
- Dead cave: need a way to dig through walls. In theory possible (e.g. with orb of flash) but very hard.
- Vineyard: in theory possible, but may need big detours to find vine spirits to break a blocking vine with. Could also set fire to vines to clear your path. Not impossible, but hard.
- Red Rock Valley: in theory possible, but very hard because of fast-moving rock snakes. (You could trap the rock snakes to build your path to the key and back, but it's very tricky and dangerous.)
- Dragon chasms: in theory you could ride a dragon across chasms. But hard (and need to mark your way back).
- Elemental planes: in theory could just use dead orbs. But elementals create barriers that may be hard to cross. In theory possible, but hard.
- Rose garden: in theory possible but hard because of the dangerous fragrance waves and enemies that require special means to deal with.
- Trollheim: in theory possible but large numbers of trolls may cause your path to get blocked off.
- Land of storms: in theory possible but electric discharges can destroy your trail. Also, not sure what you can do if the key gets spawned inside a +/- horocycle since you can't destroy those walls.
- Overgrown woods: in theory possible but fast-growing mutant ivy makes it very hard.
- Bull dash: in theory possible to clear out a wide path where it's easy to evade charging bulls. But very tricky and dangerous.
The following lands have some characteristics that seem to make the task impossible:
- Hall of mirrors: there may not be a path to get to the key since mirrors may block your way, and there's no guarantee a path exists.
- Kraken depths: can't drop dead orbs, can easily get blocked by krakens, not clear whether it's possible at all.
- Dungeon: if key spawns below a large gap, you may get trapped forever. In theory possible if you have enough orbs of recall to teleport back to the orb afterwards, but very very hard.
- Dry forest: once the forest catches fire it's impossible to backtrack to the orb. (The orb also must be outside the land, otherwise it will get destroyed by fire.) In theory possible if you have enough orbs of winter, but very very hard.
- Volcanic wasteland: can't leave dead orbs (they burn), no known way to make a trail that doesn't burn (maybe tentacles? but it's hard because it may take a very long time to cross a lava field blocking your way, and all the while the tentacle is chasing you).
- Clearing: not sure how you could find your way to the key and back while dealing with the infinitely-large mutant ivy!
- Cocytus: not clear how you could cross rivers in the ice, and how to make your way back once your original path has melted.
- Land of power: unclear how you'd even leave a trail that won't get wiped out by enemies' spells. Also, backtracking in this land is extremely dangerous because you can easily get surrounded by the numerous enemies.
Do y'all have any strategies to get the key + orb in one of the difficult lands? Especially interested in whether it's possible in the last list (nigh impossible lands) like Kraken depths.

2024.04.28 18:32 brg_brb DĂ©couverte de "The Legend of Zelda: Tear of the Kingdom" : Un Nouveau Chapitre Ăpique dans la Saga
Conclusion
"The Legend of Zelda: Tear of the Kingdom" s'annonce comme un ajout remarquable à une série déjà légendaire.

2024.04.26 15:21 Florgio Black Panther is a race swapped King Arthur
People keep saying âtheyâ would never make Black Panther white, but that story exists. A story about a King from a mythical, utopian paradise of a kingdom that no one has actually been to. They also both possess a mythical weapon. Switch Africa for Europe, rename Wakanda Camelot, and BAM Black Panther becomes King Arthur.

2024.04.25 19:46 NewTavern1 Upcoming board game tavern inquiring about current game list
Hi everyone! I am starting up a board game tavern in the next year or so and need some help filling out my games list. I plan to open with >300 games, but I anticipate I won't be able to find everything on my list or be willing to purchase some of the more expensive options; therefore I'm hoping to get a few back ups so I don't fall short. I believe I've nailed quite a few favorites, and combed through BGG a few times, but if there are any games that you all think should be included in this list please comment! My only stipulation is that I'm not looking to stock super long campaign games like Gloomhaven, but a few sessions would be fine!
I've got 284 games listed as of right now, see the list below.

2024.04.23 08:44 LadyShini [Spoiler] Castle Name Info
Because I've run into a few people on Gamefaqs (and else where), I wanted to make my own post and not just nestle this in the comments. (Wasn't sure if it deserves a Guide flair...)
There are at least 100 names you can sort through for your castle. You cannot make your own name.
The game will show you 3 names at a time. You have to click "
Let me think it over." to get 3
NEW names. It should cycle you through all 100 names before throwing them at you randomly.
Let me think it over = get 3 new castle names. You don't have to settle for the first three it shows you.
Happy Castle Naming!
