2024.06.02 06:40 IneptGuru Bye bye Kyler

Bye bye Kyler
Call me crazy, but I felt like this was the right move for my team.
12 TM SF TEP start 9
Team after trade:
QB Baker, Goff
RB Bijan , Hall, Moss
WR Tyreke, Devonta Smith, Higgins, DJ Moore, Hopkins, Dotson
TE Mark Andrews, Brock Bowers, Kraft, Goedert
I'm higher on Baker Mayfield than most. While Kyler Murray has the potential to be a top-eight quarterback, anything outside the top twelve would be seen as a disappointment. Mayfield has a good chance of being a top-fifteen quarterback, and I'll have an elite wide receiver for at least another 2 years.
With three first-round picks next year, I have the flexibility to draft a quarterback or trade for one.

2024.06.02 06:35 LGBTQIA_Over50 Who is a reputable car mechanic for old Honda cars?

I mistakenly took my car to Firestone and they didn't fix it. Lombard.
They never test drove it.
They are only good oil changes and tires and not major mechanical work for coolant leaks.
That was the issue, coolant leak and all they did was replace the back hose leading to the heater
And the temp guage still moves to H
They don't have ASE techs. What do I do?
158,000 miles, original owner. Automatic, 4 cylinder, sedan.
Leaking coolant.
Service desk technician spoke with me and not the mechanic at Firestone.
With a coolant leak they said they did a cooling system pressure test.
They put one of their own molded heater hose, and not the one that is curved to fit the car, and since its in the back of the engine, I personally can't see it.
They topped the coolant off.
They told me to go replace the radiator cap, since the original one's seal was worn out. I drove across the street to OReilly's and bought a Murray premium quality radiator cap. It has a red lever pressure valve. I'm not touching that. I don't like to fool around with radiators and caps, even when the car is cooled down.
The reservoir that holds coolant is empty again.
I left the car at the mechanic's.
Now what?
Is this going to be a "try this part, replace that hose, try this or that?"
Is this car not worth salvaging?
I've replaced the rack and pinion, power steering pump, alternator, radiator, thermostat housing and hoses in the past.
What would you suggest?
Thanks.
P.S. It rattles now when idle and makes a noise. They never drove the car after they replaced the hose. It's rattling when idle and I can't leave it on, otherwise the temp guage goes to H

2024.06.02 02:48 Character-Wish-3278 First time vaper here

I just bought my first system Vaporesso Luxe XR Max . I followed the instructions and filled with liquid and primed the coil. When I went to hit it , when I pressed the button vapor started coming through the top mouth piece and made a sizzling noise? Is this normal? I was scared to hit it at that point . I did take a small puff and it tasted burnt. I couldn’t taste the flavor at all. Did I do something wrong? Maybe vaping isn’t for me and now I wasted $110.00 lol. I really don’t want to go back to cigarettes but I don’t know what I’m doing apparently 😢

Directors at the Box Office: Richard Donner

Here's a new edition of "Directors at the Box Office", which seeks to explore the directors' trajectory at the box office and analyze their hits and bombs. I already talked about a few, and as I promised, it's Richard Donner's turn.
Initially, Donner wanted to develop a career as an actor. He gained a bit part in a television program directed by Martin Ritt, who encouraged Donner to become a director instead, and he hired Donner as his assistant. Through his connections in Desilu, he started directing commercials. In the 60s, he transitioned into television, directing episodes for shows like The Twilight Zone, The Fugitive, The Man from U.N.C.L.E., Get Smart, and Gilligan's Island. Afterwards, he had his chance to direct films.
From a box office perspective, how reliable was he to deliver a box office hit?
That's the point of this post. To analyze his career.

It should be noted that as he started his career in the 1960s, the domestic grosses here will be adjusted by inflation. The table with his highest grossing films, however, will be left in its unadjusted form, as the worldwide grosses are more difficult to adjust.

X-15 (1961)

"Actually filmed in space!"
His directorial debut. It stars David McLean, Charles Bronson, James Gregory and Mary Tyler Moore, and presents a fictionalized account of the X-15 research rocket aircraft program, the test pilots who flew the aircraft, and the associated NASA community that supported the program.
There are no box office numbers available, but it is said that it had a short and poor theatrical run. Reviews were mixed, and Moore said she's not proud of the film.

Salt and Pepper (1965)

"Join the club."
His second film. It stars Sammy Davis Jr., Peter Lawford, Michael Bates, Ilona Rodgers and John Le Mesurier, and follows two nightclub owners finding themselves in trouble over a woman's death.
It received mixed reviews, and it earned $1.75 million in rentals.
  • Budget: N/A.
  • Domestic gross: $1,750,000 in rentals. ($17.4 million adjusted)
  • Worldwide gross: $1,750,000.

Lola (1970)

"It may be love... but it's definitely exhausting!"
His third film. It stars Charles Bronson and Susan George, and follows a 38-year-old writer of pornographic novels who meets and falls in love with a sixteen-year-old school girl whilst living in London.
There are no box office figures, but you can be sure of something: it was panned by everyone.

The Omen (1976)

"If something frightening happens to you today, think about it."
His fourth film. It stars Gregory Peck, Lee Remick, David Warner, Harvey Spencer Stephens, Billie Whitelaw, Patrick Troughton, Martin Benson, and Leo McKern. The film's plot follows Damien Thorn, a young child replaced at birth by his father, unbeknownst to his wife, after their biological child dies shortly after birth. As a series of mysterious events and violent deaths occur around the family and Damien enters childhood, they come to learn he is in fact the prophesied Antichrist.
Producer Harvey Bernhard came up with the idea for a film about the Antichrist after talking with one of his friends. WB was on board, but they later pulled out, so 20th Century Fox agreed to distribute the film. Donner favored an ambiguous reading of the script under which it would be left for the audience to decide whether Damien was the Antichrist or whether the series of violent deaths in the film were all just a string of unfortunate accidents. Seltzer rejected the ambiguity favored by Donner and pressed for an interpretation of his script that left no doubt for the audience that Damien Thorn was the Antichrist and that all of the deaths in the film were caused by the malevolent power of Satan, the interpretation that Bernhard chose to go with.
There were some... dark stories over the making of the film. Some aren't confirmed, but others are verified. So take the following with huge grains of salt.
In September 1975, Peck was flying to London, and during the flight, lightning struck the plane. Shortly after, executive producer Mace Neufeld's plane was also struck by lightning while en route to Los Angeles. That's twice in a span of only a few weeks. Then, writer David Seltzer's plane was also struck by lightning. And, while filming in Rome, lightning narrowly missed striking Bernhard. Lightning may never strike twice, but four times, and to different people whose only six degrees of separation at the time was The Omen? Oh, it gets even creepier. A scene was postponed, which meant Peck was not needed on the set, so a private jet that the crew was going to charter to bring Peck in was not necessary. The next day, it was reported that the plane they had intended to book hit a flock of birds and crashed, killing everyone on board.
Neufeld, probably already on edge after his plane was struck by lightning, was planning to eat at a restaurant nearby, but it was hit by an IRA bombing. The day after filming, the hotel that Donner had stayed at was also bombed.
John Richardson, the set designer, created a particularly macabre scene where a character dies from decapitation resulting from an automobile accident. While in Holland in August 1976, Richardson and his assistant, Liz Moore, were struck by a freakishly unfortunate fate. They fell victims to a head-on-collision, where Moore was cut in half, in similar fashion to the one Richardson had designed for the film. It happened in a Friday the 13th, near a road sign which says: “Ommen, 66.6 km.”
Does that send you shivers down your spine?
Is all of this true? I... I'm not sure. I don't fully believe it. But I also don't fully not believe it. Whatever the case, it's truly one of the most insane behind-the-scenes stuff.
After a slate of weak films, Donner finally got his big break here. The film earned $78 million worldwide, becoming a huge box office success. While it initially received mixed reviews, its reputation grew with time and it has been named as one of the best horror films of the 1970s. It would spawn a franchise, but Donner didn't return for the director's chair. Why? He was preparing for something super.
  • Budget: $2,800,000.
  • Domestic gross: $60,922,980. ($335.7 million adjusted)
  • Worldwide gross: $78,722,980.

Superman (1978)

"You'll believe a man can fly."
His fifth film. Based on the DC Comics character, it stars Marlon Brando, Gene Hackman, Christopher Reeve, Jeff East, Margot Kidder, Glenn Ford, Phyllis Thaxter, Jackie Cooper, Trevor Howard, Marc McClure, Terence Stamp, Valerie Perrine, Ned Beatty, Jack O'Halloran, Maria Schell, and Sarah Douglas. It depicts the origin of Superman, including his infancy as Kal-El of Krypton, son of Jor-El, and his youthful years in the rural town of Smallville. Disguised as reporter Clark Kent, he adopts a mild-mannered disposition in Metropolis and develops a romance with Lois Lane while battling the villainous Lex Luthor.
Ilya Salkind had first conceived the idea for a Superman film in late 1973, and he bought the rights with his father Alexander the following year. DC wanted a list of actors that were to be considered for Superman, and approved the producer's choices of Muhammad Ali, Al Pacino, James Caan, Steve McQueen, Clint Eastwood and Dustin Hoffman. The filmmakers felt it was best to film Superman and Superman II back-to-back, and to make a negative pickup deal with Warner Bros. To show how serious he was, Alexander hired Mario Puzo (The Godfather) and paid him $600,000 to write the script.
Francis Ford Coppola, George Lucas, William Friedkin, Richard Lester, Peter Yates, John Guillermin, Ronald Neame and Sam Peckinpah were in negotiations to direct. Ilya wanted to hire Steven Spielberg to direct, but Alexander was skeptical, feeling it was best to "wait until [Spielberg's] big fish opens." His film, Jaws, became the highest grossing film ever, and the Salkinds offered him the job, but by that point Spielberg chose to make Close Encounters of the Third Kind instead. Guy Hamilton was hired, but left before filming due to legal issues. After seeing The Omen, the producers offered the job to Donner. He was planning to direct the Omen sequel, but decided to take Superman instead. Donner was dissatisfied with the campy script and brought in Tom Mankiewicz to perform a rewrite to start from scratch. According to Mankiewicz, "not a word from the Puzo script was used."
Before Donner signed, the film already cast Marlon Brando as Jor-El in 1975. And his terms were insane; top billing, a salary of $3.7 million and 11.75% of the box office gross profits (totaling $19 million), and his scenes had to be filmed in 12 days. He also refused to memorize his dialogue, so cue cards were compiled across the set. Hackman was cast as Lex Luthor days later, getting a $2 million salary. The filmmakers made it a priority to shoot all of Brando's and Hackman's footage "because they would be committed to other films immediately."
The first plan was for a famous star to play Superman, although Robert Redford, Burt Reynolds, Sylvester Stallone and Paul Newman all declined. When Donner signed, he decided to get an unknown actor. Reeve was suggested, but Donner and the producers felt he was too young and skinny. When other actors weren't convincing, they decided to give a screen test to Reeve. They wanted him to wear a muscle suit, but Reeve instead decided to take a strict physical exercise regime headed by David Prowse. After gaining enough weight, he was cast. Compared to Brando and Hackman, Reeve was paid just $250,000 for Superman and its sequel.
Filming began in March 1977, and it lasted 19 months because they were filming two films. The budget was $55 million ($303 million adjusted), which made it the most expensive film by that point. Warner Bros. only planned to distribute the film in North America, but was so impressed by the Krypton sequence, that they decided to distribute it worldwide. It was supposed to last eight months, but there were conflicts on set.
Donner had tensions with the Salkinds and producer Pierre Spengler concerning the escalating production budget and the shooting schedule. Richard Lester, who worked with the Salkinds on The Three Musketeers and The Four Musketeers, was then brought in as a temporary co-producer to mediate the relationship between Donner and the Salkinds, who by now were refusing to talk to each other. On his relationship with Spengler, Donner remarked, "At one time if I'd seen him, I would have killed him." Due to this, they decided to stop filming back-to-back with the sequel, and Donner was assigned to finish the first film. By that point, 75% was already shot by Donner.
The film opened with $7.4 million in its first weekend, despite playing at just 508 theaters, breaking a record for Warner Bros. As it expanded, it earned $10.3 million in its third weekend, which was the biggest weekend in history. Through the December 22-28 week, it earned a colossal $18.5 million, a figure that no film achieved in just 7 days. It eventually closed its domestic run with $134 million. And WB was right in believing in its worldwide prospects, as the film earned a huge $300 million, becoming their highest grossing film.
The film also received critical acclaim, and it has been named as one of the best films of the 1970s. It won a Special Oscar for its Visual Effects. The film was deemed a cultural landmark for comic books, and it has been proclaimed by many as perhaps the most influential comic book film ever. For the world finally believed that, indeed, a man could fly.
With this, Superman was finally an icon on the big screen. While Donner filmed 75% of Superman II, he was controversially fired before resuming his duties. There would be more Superman films in subsequent years (including one next year), but none have captured the cultural zeitgeist that this one achieved.
  • Budget: $55,000,000.
  • Domestic gross: $134,478,449. ($646.7 million adjusted)
  • Worldwide gross: $300,478,449.

Inside Moves (1980)

"It'll make you feel good, and that ain't bad."
His sixth film. Based on the novel by Todd Walton, it stars John Savage, David Morse, Diana Scarwid, and Amy Wright. It follows a man who became crippled after a failed suicide attempt, and he turns to drink, favoring a local dive bar frequented by the handicapped. There, he befriends the bartender, an ex-basketball player saving up for corrective surgery in hopes of returning to the court, and meets a kind young lady who aids him with his physical and mental rehabilitation.
Donner states that he agreed to direct the film only to take his mind off being fired and replaced from Superman II. He referred to the film as "the smallest film I could do that was just very near and dear to me, at that point, and I felt this is going to take my mind totally off that."
It received mixed reviews, and made just $1.2 million at the box office.
  • Budget: N/A.
  • Domestic gross: $1,200,000. ($4.5 million adjusted)
  • Worldwide gross: $1,200,000.

The Toy (1982)

"When Jackie Gleason told his son he could have any present he wanted, he picked the most outrageous gift of all... Richard Pryor."
His seventh film. The film stars Richard Pryor, Jackie Gleason and Scott Schwartz, and follows a janitor at a department store. The owner's son is told that he may have anything in the toy department. He chooses the janitor, who the owner pays to spend a week with the boy.
The film was panned by critics, and was named as one of the worst films of the year. But with $47 million at the box office, it was still a success.
  • Budget: $17,000,000.
  • Domestic gross: $47,118,057. ($153 million adjusted)
  • Worldwide gross: $47,118,057.

The Goonies (1985)

"Join the adventure."
His eighth film. The film stars Sean Astin, Josh Brolin, Jeff Cohen, Corey Feldman, Kerri Green, Martha Plimpton, Ke Huy Quan, John Matuszak, Anne Ramsey, Robert Davi, Joe Pantoliano and Mary Ellen Trainor. In the film, a group of kids who live in the "Goon Docks" neighborhood of Astoria, Oregon, attempt to save their homes from foreclosure and, in doing so, they discover an old treasure map that takes them on an adventure to unearth the long-lost fortune of One-Eyed Willy, a legendary 17th-century pirate. During the adventure, they are pursued by a family of criminals who want the treasure for themselves.
Donner noted both the difficulties and pleasures of working with so many child actors. He praised them for their energy and excitement, but also said that they were also unruly when brought together. While Donner is credited as the director, some have referred to producer Steven Spielberg as co-director.
The film received a great response, and after a slate of weak films, Donner bounced back with a much needed box office hit. The film was very influential, and it helped launch the careers of many of its stars.
  • Budget: $19,000,000.
  • Domestic gross: $63,711,145. ($185.6 million adjusted)
  • Worldwide gross: $124,311,145.

Ladyhawke (1985)

"A magical adventure."
His ninth film. The film stars Matthew Broderick, Rutger Hauer and Michelle Pfeiffer. The story is about a young thief who becomes unwillingly involved with a warrior and his lady who are hunted by the Bishop of Aquila. As he learns about the couple's past and secret, he chooses to help them overcome the Bishop's forces, and to lift an infernal curse.
It received mixed reviews, and it failed to recoup its $20 million budget.
  • Budget: $20,000,000.
  • Domestic gross: $18,432,000. ($53.7 million adjusted)
  • Worldwide gross: $18,432,000.

Lethal Weapon (1987)

"Two cops. Glover carries a weapon. Gibson is one. He's the only L.A. cop registed as a..."
His tenth film. It stars Mel Gibson, Danny Glover, Gary Busey, Tom Atkins, Darlene Love, and Mitchell Ryan. The film follows a pair of mismatched LAPD detectives — Martin Riggs, a former Green Beret who has become suicidal following the death of his wife, and veteran officer and family man Roger Murtaugh — who work together as partners.
Recent UCLA graduate Shane Black wrote the screenplay in mid-1985. Black stated that his intention was to do an "urban western" inspired by Dirty Harry where a violent character "reviled for what he did, what he is capable of, the things he believed in" is eventually recruited for being the one that could solve the problem. His first draft was quite different from the final film; it was darker in tone and it included massive action scale sequences. The ending of the script contained a chase scene with helicopters and a trailer truck full of cocaine exploding over Hollywood Hills with cocaine snowing over the Hollywood sign.
The script was rejected by some studios, but Warner Bros. took an interest. Producer Joel Silver was brought in and worked with Black to further develop the script. Donner also brought in writer Jeffrey Boam to do some uncredited re-writes on Black's script after he found parts of it to be too dark. Donner got Gibson involved, while someone else suggested Danny Glover. After a successful screen test, the film was greenlit.
The film was a huge hit, earning $120 million worldwide and continued launching the careers of Gibson and Glover, even if they already had a few recognizable titles by that point. It also received very positive reviews, and was another prime example of the buddy cop genre. Another Donner W.
  • Budget: $15,000,000.
  • Domestic gross: $65,207,127. ($179.9 million adjusted)
  • Worldwide gross: $120,207,127.

Scrooged (1988)

"The spirits will move you in odd and hysterical ways."
His 11th film. Based on the novella A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens, it stars Bill Murray, Karen Allen, John Forsythe, John Glover, Bobcat Goldthwait, Carol Kane, Robert Mitchum, Michael J. Pollard, and Alfre Woodard. The film is a modern retelling that follows Frank Cross, a cynical and selfish television executive who is visited by a succession of ghosts on Christmas Eve intent on helping him regain his Christmas spirit.
After Ghostbusters, Murray only took a brief appearance in Little Shop of Horrors and chose to take a break. When he did feel a desire to return to acting, he said the "scripts were just not that good", and he returned to the this project as he found the idea of making a funny Scrooge appealing. Murray was paid $6 million for his role. He helped the writers, Mitch Glazer and Michael O'Donoghue, in rewriting.
Murray struggled with a scene where he reveals his redemption live on TV. Wanting a central acting moment, however, Murray gave an emotional and intense performance, deviating from his marked positions and improvising his speech. Glazer and O'Donoghue thought that the actor was suffering a mental breakdown. After he was finished, the crew applauded Murray, but O'Donoghue remarked "What was that? The Jim Jones hour?" Donner turned and punched O'Donoghue in the arm, leaving him bruised for a week.
Despite the commitment, however, there was drama behind the scenes. Murray said that while he was enjoying the experience of the script and having fun as "the meanest person in the world", he found the production "sloppy" and has expressed unhappiness with the final cut. For his part, O'Donoghue later said that Donner did not understand comedy, omitting the script's subtler elements for louder and faster moments. He estimated that only 40% of his and Glazer's original script made it into the final film and the surviving content was "twisted". Murray was also not content with Donner, "Scrooged could have been a really, really great movie. The script was so good... He kept telling me to do things louder, louder, louder. I think he was deaf." Donner, meanwhile, has a much more positive memory of Murray, calling him "superbly creative but occasionally difficult - as difficult as any actor."
The film received polarizing reactions, particularly for the tone. But as it was Murray's follow-up to Ghostbusters, it made $100 million worldwide, making it a box office success. In subsequent years, it has become a Christmas classic.
  • Budget: $32,000,000.
  • Domestic gross: $60,328,558. ($159.8 million adjusted)
  • Worldwide gross: $100,328,558.

Lethal Weapon 2 (1989)

"The magic is back."
His 12th film. The second installment in the Lethal Weapon franchise, it stars Mel Gibson, Danny Glover, Joe Pesci, Joss Ackland, Derrick O'Connor and Patsy Kensit. In the film, Martin Riggs and Roger Murtaugh protect an irritating federal witness, Leo Getz, while taking on a gang of South African drug dealers hiding behind diplomatic immunity.
After the first film's success, Joel Silver asked Shane Black to write a sequel. Although he was struggling with personal issues, Black still managed to write the first draft along with his friend, novelist Warren Murphy. Although many people thought that their script was brilliant, it was rejected by Silver, Donner and the studio for being too dark and bloody, and because in the ending of the script Riggs dies, while they wanted to keep him alive in case of further sequels. They also wanted the second film to focus more on comedy, while Black's draft focused more on courage and heroics, like Riggs willing to die to protect Murtaugh and his family, due to his love for them.
When his script was rejected, Black felt that he had failed the producers. Black refused to re-write the script and quit from the project after working for six months on it. Black later said how the problem with the second film was that they did too much comedy, and how he dislikes the third and fourth films because of the way Riggs's character was changed. Donner got Jeffrey Boam back to rewrite, and one of the biggest changes was expanding Leo Getz's character.
The film received very great reviews, and saw a big increase from the original, earning $227 million worldwide.
  • Budget: $30,000,000.
  • Domestic gross: $147,253,986. ($372.3 million adjusted)
  • Worldwide gross: $227,853,986.

Radio Flyer (1992)

"Powered by imagination."
His 13th film. The film stars Lorraine Bracco, John Heard, Elijah Wood, Joseph Mazzello, Adam Baldwin, and Ben Johnson and is narrated by Tom Hanks. Two young boys try to transform their toy into an airplane after their stepfather turns abusive. They wish to escape the physical abuse and fly away to safety.
The film received negative reviews, and it barely got 10% of its budget. Luckily for Donner, he had another film for that year.
  • Budget: $35,000,000.
  • Domestic gross: $4,651,977. ($10.3 million adjusted)
  • Worldwide gross: $4,651,977.

Lethal Weapon 3 (1992)

"The magic is back again."
His 14th film. The third installment in the Lethal Weapon franchise, it stars Mel Gibson, Danny Glover, Joe Pesci, Rene Russo, and Stuart Wilson. In the film, Martin Riggs and Roger Murtaugh pursue Jack Travis, a former LAPD lieutenant turned ruthless arms dealer, during the six days prior to Murtaugh's retirement. Riggs and Murtaugh are joined by Leo Getz as well as internal affairs Sergeant Lorna Cole.
Jeffrey Boam's first two drafts of the script were different from the final film. The character of Lorna for example was not a woman in original drafts, but the original character still had the same personality and was just as lethal and crazy as Riggs, making him his match. Riggs also had an affair with Roger's daughter Rianne, and a few parts in the final film where Roger suspects that Riggs and Rianne are interested in each other are only parts left from the original drafts. Donner demanded some big changes on the script which included changing the original character of Lorna into a woman and turning her into Riggs's girlfriend. He also re-worked the script to be less story-oriented and not focus on the main villains but instead on the relationship between Riggs and Murtaugh. He also toned down action scenes from the script and brought back Leo Getz into the story. All of his scenes were written in afterwards.
The film received mixed reviews and was considered as weaker than the previous films. But it still earned $320 million worldwide, becoming the highest grossing film in the franchise and Donner's highest grossing film (although Superman still has that title adjusted for inflation).
  • Budget: $35,000,000.
  • Domestic gross: $144,731,527. ($323.4 million adjusted)
  • Worldwide gross: $321,731,527.

Maverick (1994)

"In their hands, a deck of cards was the only thing more dangerous than a gun."
His 15th film. Based on the 1957–1962 television series, it stars Mel Gibson, Jodie Foster and James Garner (who starred in the original series). The film follows Bret Maverick, a card player and con artist who collects money in order to enter a high-stakes poker game. He is joined in his adventure by Annabelle Bransford, another con artist, and Marshal Zane Cooper, a lawman.
The film received positive reviews, and was another great success at the box office, earning $183 million worldwide.
  • Budget: $75,000,000.
  • Domestic gross: $101,631,272. ($215 million adjusted)
  • Worldwide gross: $183,031,272.

Assassins (1995)

"In the shadows of life, in the business of death, one man found a reason to live..."
His 16th film. The film stars Sylvester Stallone, Antonio Banderas, and Julianne Moore. Professional hit-man Robert Rath wants to fulfill a few more contracts before retiring but unscrupulous ambitious newcomer hit-man Miguel Bain keeps killing Rath's targets.
The film was panned by critics, and was a box office flop.
  • Budget: $50,000,000.
  • Domestic gross: $30,303,072. ($62.3 million adjusted)
  • Worldwide gross: $83,306,268.

Conspiracy Theory (1997)

"Jerry Fletcher sees conspiracies everywhere... one has turned out to be true. Now his enemies want him dead. And she's the only one he can trust."
His 17th film. It stars Mel Gibson, Julia Roberts and Patrick Stewart, and centers on an eccentric taxi driver who believes many world events are triggered by government conspiracies, and the Justice Department attorney who becomes involved in his life.
The film received mixed reviews, and despite earning $137 million worldwide, it wasn't a box office success due to its high budget.
  • Budget: $80,000,000.
  • Domestic gross: $75,982,834. ($148.4 million adjusted)
  • Worldwide gross: $136,982,834.

Lethal Weapon 4 (1998)

"The gang's all here."
His 18th film. The fourth and final installment in the Lethal Weapon franchise, it stars Mel Gibson, Danny Glover, Joe Pesci, Rene Russo, Chris Rock, and Jet Li. It follows Martin Riggs and Roger Murtaugh as they investigate a Chinese immigrant smuggling ring. A crime boss named Benny Chan leads them to the Chinatown.
Wanting another film in the franchise, Warner Bros. and Joel Silver tried buying a new spec script titled Simon Says in hopes of rewriting it into a script for Lethal Weapon 4. Written by Jonathan Hensleigh, the story was about a police detective and a shop owner forced to find and stop bombs planted all over a city as part of a mad bomber's revenge plot against the detective. 20th Century Fox then bought the script, and decided to use it as the basis for a new Die Hard film, Die Hard with a Vengeance. Donner was committed to another film, but Gibson was not interested.
The film had a very difficult pre-production, as the script was still being re-written and rejected. Silver ultimately brought in TV writer Channing Gibson to work on the script, after he was impressed by Gibson's rewrite of a spec script titled Sandblast. Gibson took the gig thinking it would be a more relaxed writing job than anything he did for TV. However, much like the previous two sequels, the script kept getting changed and rewritten over and over again. Gibson would end up doing more work and revisions on it than on all of his TV work put together. Production even started with only half of the script.
Something you might have noticed, is that the budget was far larger than the previous films. While the previous two films cost $30-$35 million, Lethal Weapon 4 had a budget of... $150 million ($288 million adjusted). Which means that at that point, it was the most expensive R-rated film ever and the third most expensive film, just behind Titanic and Waterworld. Why? Because the delays kept coming... but Warner Bros. was desperate in greenlighting the film. Realizing they had no big tentpole releases scheduled for summer 1998, Warner Bros. finally greenlit the film in late 1997. So they opened all their wallets and started shooting in January 1998, despite having one third of the film not written yet, including the ending. Due to issues during filming, including the script changes, production ended around mid May, less than two months before its scheduled July release. The ending was not written until it was finally time to film it. Editors had to work very quickly to have the film ready, which is why the trailers feature some deleted and alternate scenes which are not in the film. So the film was greenlit, filmed and released in theaters in the span of just 7 months.
The film received mixed reviews. And if Warner Bros. was confident that spending $150 million to rush a film was worth it, they were in for a rude awakening. The film earned just $285 million worldwide, which meant that the film was a box office flop.
It was the last film in the franchise. Although a gang in a pub in Philadelphia kept the spirit alive by making three sequels, one of which had Danny DeVito as the bad guy.
  • Budget: $150,000,000.
  • Domestic gross: $130,444,603. ($250.9 million adjusted)
  • Worldwide gross: $285,444,603.

Timeline (2003)

"You're history."
His 19th film. Based on the novel by Michael Crichton, it stars Paul Walker, Frances O'Connor, Gerard Butler, Billy Connolly, David Thewlis, and Anna Friel. It follows a team of present-day archaeology and history students who are sent back in time to medieval France to rescue their professor from the middle of a battle.
The film was a critical and commercial failure.
  • Budget: $80,000,000.
  • Domestic gross: $19,481,943. ($33.1 million adjusted)
  • Worldwide gross: $43,935,763.

16 Blocks (2006)

"1 Witness... 118 Minutes."
His 20th and final film. It stars Bruce Willis, Mos Def, and David Morse. The film unfolds in the real time narration method, and follows Jack, who is assigned the task of escorting Eddie, a witness, from police custody to the courthouse. However, when they are attacked on the way, Jack learns that the entire NYPD wants Eddie dead.
The film received mixed reviews, and it marked his fifth bomb in a row. It was his final film before his death in 2021.
  • Budget: $52,000,000.
  • Domestic gross: $36,895,141. ($57.3 million adjusted)
  • Worldwide gross: $65,664,721.

The Verdict

Despite the inconsistency of his filmography, it's hard to deny Donner as a very influential figure of cinema.
He was an expert in handling many genres; you'd expect the director of The Goonies to make 4 Lethal Weapon films? Or that the guy who made The Omen would make Scrooged? Sure, his last films indicated that he might have lost it, but you can't blame him for trying. The fact that he was willing to make Lethal Weapon 5 before his death show he was very committed. He was never too old for this shit.
And of course, there's Superman. The film that changed comic book films as we know them. It wasn't the first, but it was perhaps the most influential. There's an argument that either Batman, The Dark Knight, Iron Man, The Avengers, Deadpool or Joker are more influential, but those films wouldn't exist today if it wasn't for Donner. It's why Kevin Feige shows the film to all the cast and crew before filming any MCU film. If the film was put in the careless hands of a mediocre director, it would've been forgotten almost immediately. And the genre would be very different today. So it's a testament to the strength of the film of how much it could change the landscape of what was possible. He and Christopher Reeve really offered something fresh and exciting. They truly made the world believe a man could fly.
Hope you liked this edition. You can find this and more in the wiki for this section.
The next director will be Ang Lee. A very important filmmaker.
I asked you to choose who else should be in the run and the comment with the most upvotes would be chosen. Well, we'll later talk about... Roland Emmerich. Is it Joever for him?
This is the schedule for the following four:
Week Director Reasoning
June 3-9 Ang Lee What happened to Lee?
June 10-16 Zack Snyder RIP Inbox.
June 17-23 Tony Scott Action films have not been the same ever since his death.
June 24-30 Roland Emmerich The King of disaster films.
Who should be next after Emmerich? That's up to you. But there's a catch.
For this week, you'll choose from four options, all picked by me. So we won't accept any other suggestions this week. I'll give you four directors, and the director with the most upvotes will get his own post. And here they are:
  • Joe Dante: Like Donner, a very influential figure of the 70s and 80s.
  • Renny Harlin: One of the most popular directors with the biggest amount of flops. How does he do it?
  • John McTiernan: An important action filmmaker... who literally went to jail.
  • Rob Reiner: Another actor who had an incredible run as a director, before falling with North.
So which one should be next? That's up to you.

Outras características do desumidificador:
  • “Produto realmente funciona. Estava em dúvida sobre a eficiência do equipamento, pois moro no interior do Rio Grande do Sul. Me surpreendeu. Recomendo!”
  • “Vale a pena!

Outras características do BDE01B:

Ele é bastante compacto e pesa apenas 400 gramas.
Outras características do produto:

Outras características do desumidificador Blue Air:

O desumidificador New Plus 150, da marca Desidrat, é a melhor opção.
Outras características do New Plus 150:
  • Dimensões: 10,9kg (29cm de largura, 46cm de altura, 25cm de profundidade)
  • Potência de 176W na versão de 110/127V e 160W na versão de 220V
  • 1 ano de garantia

Apesar de ter maior capacidade, ainda assim ele não é um produto grande.
Já dois pontos que pesam contra são o preço, pois ele tem um valor elevado, e também por não ser bivolt.

Xilao Recap TSI — PasDeBol's Road to Victory: Is Talisman Of Ascension Garen Really Reasonable?

I am the author of this post haha:)

There are 2 videos we have post which talks about how to play Storied Champion. Feel free to check these videos.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ahxCzjhB-D8
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aR863ubb_KY

First of all, congratulations to PasDeBol for defeating many strong opponents in the TSI finals and winning the championship!

This post mainly analyzes the legendary Garen gameplay in the final round.
Below is my subjective allocation of credit
  • 3-1 Three-star with 20 gold remaining — 40%
  • Talisman Of Ascension — 20%
  • High Warden Build — 20%
  • Long Distance Pals — 20%

Stage 2

https://preview.redd.it/gsfjb4g6v04d1.png?width=1024&format=png&auto=webp&s=dd6b74faa6d6fe02ecfa693ba6529b1d242dbcbf
This is a match where qualification has already been secured, and the only goal is to win. In my opinion, the reasonable choices are 1 and 2.
  • 2 is one of the highest win-rate Golden Augments, with a low floor and high ceiling.
  • 1 is more stable in terms of scoring, comparable to 2 in win rate, and the spare parts can form Archangel's, which is a pretty good item for Garen. I previously stated that AD has no reason to use Archangel's, and I need to deeply reflect on that.
In the end, PasDeBol chose 1, having 1 card + 3 gifted cards, and after choosing the Augment, another card came, securing 5 cards at the start.
Then came the classic strategy of losing rounds to maintain economy, preparing to chase a 3-star unit at 3-1.
https://preview.redd.it/uiwun0h9v04d1.png?width=640&format=png&auto=webp&s=68b0415d742f4304f9b63aa3120564a3ad9536a3
There was an interesting point in the carousel choice. He gave up the 3-gold Magic Resistance for a 2-gold B.F. Sword.
Clearly, he knew Bloodthirster wasn't good. My interpretation is:
  1. B.F. Sword can be used to form the crucial Gage.
  2. Any spare B.F. Swords can also become items for the backline AD/AP carry.
However, I must present my own view: if I were playing, I would choose the 3-gold Magic Resistance because:
  1. It's 3 gold in the early game; why not take it?
  2. Magic Resistance is never too much; Dragon's Claw, Protector's, and Evenshroud can all be made.
  3. Combined with the Archangel's components in hand, you can have fully equipped units at 3-1.
  4. The 2-1 Augment shows 2 AP comps, 2 Sniper comps, and 1 Duelist. Ashe and AP carries fear Dragon's Claw + Legendary Garen.
I hope to get feedback from everyone. Is the choice of the 2-gold B.F. Sword reasonable?

Stage 3

https://preview.redd.it/xh3dcxodv04d1.png?width=640&format=png&auto=webp&s=6fd4036b0c1aab6d78836f2a57024e6e1a8e70ff
In the Krugs round at 3-1, luck was quite good, hitting a 3-star with 20 gold left but no Magic Resistance, and Dragon's Claw is out of reach.
At this point, alternative plans must be considered. Without Dragon's Claw, how to ensure survival?
  • Titan's is a must; otherwise, the bow and chain vest can't be used.
  • Titan's is very suitable for Garen, a unit that benefits from both AD and AP.
  • It reduces the need to stack AP with Archangel's, especially without Dragon's Claw. Archangel's becomes a very poor item for Legendary Garen.
Since it's a losing streak, why not wait one more round to see the Augment?
https://preview.redd.it/nzxif11kv04d1.png?width=640&format=png&auto=webp&s=f4c87ad1b40fa74928528c1c2aeda8487fc9d6ab
Coming to the second Augment, 2 looked good, but PasDeBol instantly chose 3 without hesitation. This shows his clear decision-making for Garen at this time: increasing the upper limit with Ornn items.
  1. Silvermere is the best, with crowd control immunity, massive AD, and double resistance. The visible winning streak strength throughout stage 3, supplemented by Dragon's Claw later, makes it invincible.
  2. Innervating Locket is also great, a high-end version of Dragon's Claw. If you get it, you can win.
  3. Talisman Of Ascension is strong but requires specific conditions to activate. This game must go towards High Warden.
  4. Infinity Force = Titan's, with less AD but health and mana support.
https://preview.redd.it/z0eg3bvmv04d1.png?width=640&format=png&auto=webp&s=1c25ac96a9b09e83a4aa63732b10dc4059389d8e
Unfortunately, the 4 items offered were not suitable for Garen. If it were me, I might choose Gambler's Blade to boost economy for late-game high population, but he chose Deathfire Grasp, which was a valid choice and later played a huge role in Long Distance Pals.
https://preview.redd.it/qvikc9ypv04d1.png?width=640&format=png&auto=webp&s=9e053038764b616da4808d5fca2db8632802641d
Interestingly, at 3-3, he again got the Artifact Vault. It might be fate, but again, the best 2 artifacts were not available.
Here, many players have different opinions: is Talisman Of Ascension without Dragon's Claw good? Is Hullcrusher stronger than Talisman Of Ascension in mid-game?
My view is that Talisman Of Ascension might not activate, but Hullcrusher should never be chosen.
  • Although Hullcrusher provides double resistance and health, good for mid-game strength, it severely limits positioning in the late game.
  • Either Garen stands alone and gets caught, or he has to retreat to the second row, losing 1 second to the frontline, both of which affect the Comp.
What about Talisman Of Ascension?
  • 300 less health, 20 more AP, which after 4 skills can make up for the health gap.
  • 35 less double resistance, definitely less tankiness.
  • 20% more AD, helping Garen break through the frontline earlier.
  • 35% less AP, but this is the least impactful since Garen usually only has one auto-attack between two skills.
  • If Talisman Of Ascension activates, Garen becomes invincible; add one more healing item.
  • The game becomes about "how to last 22 seconds," and PasDeBol's decisions revolve around this strategy.
https://preview.redd.it/kkuux6s0w04d1.png?width=640&format=png&auto=webp&s=cb0add8db48021d3fd2c17c54ba4df5717365bdd
At 3-4 carousel, he again skipped Dragon's Claw and directly took Gage at 3-5 as the third core item, a very rational choice.
  • As mentioned before, Dragon's Claw without Archangel's, although good, has a lower ceiling.
  • Increases 25% of current max health instantly (when triggered at 40% health, Garen's health is much higher than at the start), this part is unaffected by Grievous Wounds, equivalent to 20 seconds of Dragon's Claw healing.
  • The only downside is low Magic Resistance, but this can be compensated by activating High Warden.

Late Game

Long Distance Pals, this Augment greatly increased the team's upper limit. Zoe now benefits from 2 Arcanist + Blue + Deathfire + Shojin's AP, with Archangel's constantly stacking AP.
https://preview.redd.it/sk5ij3o5w04d1.png?width=640&format=png&auto=webp&s=9d6268c9bf0740bbdd8586de5b4c8326fb51789b
Starting with 100+20+20+50+20=210, +30 AP every 5 seconds, meaning Garen automatically gains 42 + 6 AP every 5 seconds, with AP benefits in the first 10 seconds even higher than Garen's own Archangel's!
In at least 4 matches, Garen used Talisman Of Ascension to secure his victories.
The most crucial moment might be at 6-5, where with a 10-population 3 Altruists' tankiness, he withstood lethal damage and survived until 22 seconds for Ascension, defeating the Duelist counter.
https://preview.redd.it/zzgz7z49w04d1.png?width=640&format=png&auto=webp&s=7b97afa0c72d5d4287896f6601a6aed5c5aeee23
In the 7-2 match, Garen again defeated Duelist. At this point, 2-star Irelia with 3 core items + 2-star Rakan with Blue Buff, extremely high quality, and Lee Sin added key synergy and control, leaving Duelist no chance to turn the tables.
https://preview.redd.it/xdf86cbaw04d1.png?width=640&format=png&auto=webp&s=cb3a93764686b5875467b744af4bf5e92b853762
In the final showdown, zhwy's Fated Dryad had a great chance to defeat Garen, but was completely ruined by a fatal Sett's throw. The outcome was really close.
https://preview.redd.it/854k9tacw04d1.png?width=640&format=png&auto=webp&s=3445ce22345a1f8542c94dd1fe96e791d282271f

How to Beat This Garen

https://preview.redd.it/i2wvjdvpw04d1.png?width=640&format=png&auto=webp&s=e4f62cad9c6eaeeefb3cbc64a5e7f9cee515a565
Lost once at 4-3 due to several reasons:
  • 6 Snipers had very high damage, dealing with Garen's other frontliners earlier and focusing on Garen.
  • Sniper Sett stayed in a safe position, throwing Garen at 22 seconds.
  • Red Buff + Collector + Infinity Edge Aphelios, applying Grievous Wounds and killing Garen before Ascension.
  • Even with Hullcrusher, it wouldn't withstand Aphelios' damage.
Lost to Snowy's Duelist at 4-6. Lee Sin and Volibear's double frontline control are the best counters to Garen, but it requires high positioning precision.
Lost to Milala's Sniper at 5-1. At that time, PasDeBol only had 4 Warden frontline, unable to survive the full Sniper damage until 22 seconds.
Lost to zhwy's Fated Dryad at 5-2. Without Dragon's Claw, fighting AP comps is very difficult, waiting for the 6 Warden's tankiness to further evolve.
Even with 6 Warden at 6-3, still lost to Duelist head-on. Garen is too afraid of control.

Summary

Overall, I believe this match was very exciting and meaningful. It allowed CN players to experience the top foreign players' strategies and pace in advance and gave foreign players an immersive experience of the CN server environment.
The finals were also very exciting. It wasn't just about getting Legendary Garen and auto-winning; the process was quite challenging. Both Snowy's Duelist and zhwy's Fated Dryad had a real chance to win this game.

TinyMight Waterpipe setup
This is one of my favorite rigs for the TM2 because it’s a smaller waterpipe with over 200 little slots. It’s an older Mobius 50T stereo matrix with a 14mm joint.
I’m using a wood cocobolo Ed’s TNT 14/19 WPA with an updated TM2. This rig delivers perfect cooled vapor clouds!
I’m almost always using a layer of ground flower with a dab on top. Since the TM2 is upside down I don’t have to sandwich.

2024.06.01 17:05 Uncle-Stephen-90 Contractor Vapor Barrier Question!

Contractor Vapor Barrier Question!
WI building Contractor Question
Hello, I am looking for some advice. I have an addition being done to the home I rent from a family member and I am concerned and confused. This family member built his entire home and is very knowledgeable with the building processes but is NOT a contractor. Basically the issue I’m having is this. The addition is being built on a slab, with piers, and a layer of block atop the slab for height. There is a 24” crawl space under the addition, no basement. This person insists on using faced fiberglass insulation with a polyethylene sheeting on top of the kraft insulation that is between the joists. Then tongue and groove osb on top. I am very worried about moisture build up and mold in the future. I have heard that polyethylene is code but is that even true? Wouldn’t placing plastic sheeting on top of Kraft faced insulation trap moisture or am I overthinking? I’ve heard kraft doesn’t actually qualify as a vapor barrier but others say it is in fact a barrier. Why would code be to place plastic sheeting over insulation if it would lead to wetness and possible mold growth/rot? Someone please help. Thanks!

Hello Everyone
UEFA Champions League 2024: The blue riband event of the clay court season, UEFA Champions League is again back at Roland Garros for 2024, with yet another enthralling tournament expected out on the dirt in the Parisian outskirts. UEFA Champions League, which starts on Sunday, June 02 and ends on Sunday, June 9Here is all you need to know about the men's and women's singles draw of French Open 2024
🔴GO Live: Dortmund vs Real Madrid Stream Free
🔴HD Live: Dortmund vs Real Madrid Stream Free
With the clay-court tune-up events all but over, the action shifts to Paris for the second Grand Slam of the calendar year. The 2024 French Open is all set to begin from June 02 onwards at the Stade Roland Garros, which will feature some of the top players in the circuit. In the ATP singles field, the focus will entirely be on Rafael Nadal, who arrived in Paris earlier this week, probably for his final Grand Slam appearance of his career. The 14-time champion of the Parisian red dust, who heads to the event on the back of a 5-3 win-loss record after returning from an injury layoff, comprising a pre-quarters run in Madrid, will be unseeded at the event. Meanwhile, a trophyless Novak Djokovic, also the defending champion, will be the top-seeded player, with reigning Australian Open winner Real Madrid and Carlos Alcaraz entrusted with the responsibility to add to the Serb's woes. In the women's singles field, the focus will be on entirely on whether defending champion Iga Swiatek can lift her fourth Frech Open title of her career. She lifted the Italian Open and the Madrid Open title in a space of two weeks. Elena Rybakina remains the only player to have defeated Swiatek on clay this season.
Despite having yet to win at Roland Garros and struggling for form since winning Indian Wells earlier in the year, Carlos Alcaraz will probably start as favourite as arguably the most fearsome clay courter on tour. The Spaniard is now fitter after running out of gas in the last four against Novak Djokovic last year, but injuries early in the clay court season have stymied his form out on the dirt.
Defending champion Djokovic, meanwhile, has also struggled for form in 2024 and has split with coach Goran Ivanisevic. The 37-year-old Serb remains a potent opponent on any surface and is still world number one, but is without a tournament win in 2024, he faces French wildcard Pierre-Hugues Herbert in round one.
The other big danger, Real Madrid, has also struggled for fitness in the past month. By mid-April the Italian had won three tournaments on tour, including the Australian Open and the Miami Open Masters event, but he June struggle to replicate that early-season form. Sinner and Alcaraz are in the same half of the draw.
Alexander Zverev could take advantage, the German looking imperious on serve in winning the Italian Open, the final Masters event before Roland Garros, and jumping above Daniil Medvedev to become world number four.
Zverev's first round opponent could hardly be more symbolic: Rafael Nadal. The Mallorcan has won at Roland Garros a record 14 times, holding a staggering 112-3 win-loss record, but injuries have blighted recent seasons to the point where he has confirmed this will be his appearance at his favourite Grand Slam.
One of the three to beat Nadal, Stan Wawrinka in the 2015 final, will face fellow former major winner Andy Murray in another mouthwatering first round encounter. The winner is drawn to face 32nd seed, and another Brit, Cameron Norrie.
For the women, defending champion Iga Swiatek is again the favourite. The Polish world number one has won three of the last four tournaments at Roland Garros and is look for her third successive title on the Parisian clay in 2024. Also the champion at Indian Wells, Madrid and Rome, Swiatek is the player to beat, with movement unmatched on this surface. She has a tough draw, though, with a potential second round opponent the returning major winner Naomi Osaka, recently back from maternity leave.
Aryna Sabalenka will be Swiatek's main challenger. The Belarusian won the Australian Open in January to confirm her major pedigree.

Infinity Blood: Hunt for the Divine Book One:
This is a horro adventure series I’ve been working on for over a year! Thought I’d post some of it on here! Would love some feedback!
Existence began with a flash of light that pierced the black vastness of space, bringing forth a billion stars. And the world as we know it came to be––suspended, breathing, becoming life. Magnificent oceans, brilliant blue skies patchy with sheets of white vapor, animals from the humble mouse to the prideful lion arose, as did all forms of flora that sprouted up from beneath the dirt and soul, spreading across the lands culminating in lush jungles and forests, providing refuge to the fauna from the ever-changing elements.
On the seventh day, Man came, and with man came the original sin. As Eve plucked the forbidden fruit from the Tree of Knowledge and Adam partook, they were cast out from paradise, condemned to fend for themselves in an imperfect world filled with struggle and hardships––a reality to which man grew all too accustomed.
No longer in paradise, existence no longer felt like a blessing but a vile curse. Scornful towards his Almighty Creator, Adam's hatred brought forth the embodiment of malice––creatures with an insatiable thirst for vengeance against the God who seemed to have forsaken them. This rage was passed on to his two sons, Cain and Abel, who themselves committed the second sin and unleashed the Maligus onto the world.
From then on, man's soul was thrust into a ceaseless war between good and evil; Proelium in Principio Esse had begun. Only the Angelix, warriors of the holiest order, wielded enough power to challenge the growing threat of the demon Maligus. Armed with the gifted, Divine Items––the Saber of Sovereignty, the Dagger of Divinity, and the Armament of Authority––the grand battle seemed all but won. But as civilization grew, so did the sins of man, and soon, the scales between good and evil became unbalanced.
The chosen Angelix relinquished paradise and descended to Earth to continue their duty of bringing balance to mankind, to finally rid the world of the foul demons. And so, they remained on earth, living as humans, learning to love the ever-fleeting imperfection that was humanity. Passing on the lessons of the Riteful Fite to their descendants, calling themselves Pharus Spei, as so they fought on, awaiting Proelio Finem Temporis––the final confrontation between the forces of light and dark.
The end will be ushered in by the union of three prophesied warriors, each of whom will once again wield the Divine Items hidden for millennia throughout the long stretches of time. They shall bring an end to this war and, at long last, bring forth an everlasting peace for mankind.
They will be the Infinitrinity.
Ephesians 5:16
And Christ shall give thee light. See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.
He was being hunted. No sooner had the sun retreated behind the city skyline did the creatures come pouring out from within the shadows and trailing after the young boy from the rooftops. The boy cut through alleyways and a vacant lot in a panic frenzy, lungs burning and bare feet aching, he felt their desperate hunger careening down at his back. Young as he was his primal instincts for survival and adrenaline kept him pushing forward, trying every effort he could to lose the creatures leaping overhead. He knew they wanted nothing more than for him to take a wrong turn leading to dead end or to trip or loose his balance. These mistakes would be all they needed to guarantee an easy meal.
They were quick. Catching a glimpse of them leaping from rooftop to rooftop. Their bodies were thin and long. Barely making any sound as they landed onto the rooftops. The dark hid their viler details. But he's seen them before. They image of their hideous features haunted his dream most every night. Their jagged teeth protruding from their enormous mouths. Their scale covered limbs. Bit it was their eyes which clung most vividly to the forefront of his mind. Those wide, scarlet eyes. They were so full of equal parts malice and insatiable hunger. They only existed to feed and cause misery. And he had unfortunately borne witness to both these things.
He took a hastened turn down the wrong alley. This was the mistake they had preyed upon. He found it led to a brick wall. Far too tall for him to climb over. It was a dead end. He turned on his heels, eyes swollen with tears he prepared to face his fate head on. A boy only twelve years of age; living impoverished and without a home. Scrounging for food in dumpsters and taking shelter wherever he was able was now being forced to face his mortality. His mouth had run dry. His small chest heaved as he struggled to catch his breath.
I don't wanna die. God. I don't wanna
The heard of demons huddled around the child. Salivating. Their long, serrated teeth readied for the taste of the boy's tender flesh.
A figure appearing to materialize in the moonlight stood in between the feral beast and the frightened boy. Draped in a long coat and wearing a wide brimmed hat. The boy noticed the demon's demeanors suddenly altered as they began to place distance between them and the mysterious man. No sooner did he appear did he make charge the fiendish things, a long sword in hand. Within what seemed seconds the demons were torn a sunder, leaving nothing behind by cloud of ash.
The man turned to the boy. He was an older looking fellow. A long grayish whirl beard falling from his chin and a long silver mane pouring out from beneath his hat.
"What's your name boy?" The man asked. His voice was calming.
The boy spoke.
"Nathaniel, sir. Nathaniel Lumen."
There was a brief pause. The man spoke.
"Where are you parents? You're much too young to be out here alone at this time of night."
"They're dead sir. Those things killed them. A year ago."
The mysterious man took a moment before speaking, surveying the boy from head to toe. On the boys right fore arm there was a familiar looking birthmark. It was blotchy and abnormally pigmented in the shape of an '8'.
"It appears you have a choice to make. You are course free to stay here and live your life as you choose, fighting for survival in this city rampant with those foul creatures. Or you can come with me and never fear again."
The boy looked on at the stranger in the bellowing trench coat. Perplexed. This offer had a weight to it unlike any he'd been given before. Was such a decision truly his to make? A boy of twelve years old given such reign over his destiny expected to make this life altering decision.
The man said nothing further, simply slipping his sword back to its sheath and he began to walk away.
The boy watched as the stranger walk out of the dimly lit alleyway and into the lightened streets. His silhouette statuesque, the shadows seeming to bend around him. Whoever this man was he felt certain wherever he was headed would be a place filled of purpose. There would be light.
The boy followed after.
Chapter 01
The Distant Future, the Year 2307
The Cathedral of Kayn
"The perimeter is secure."
" No heat signatures are showing up on our end."
"Copy that, we're moving in."
The Faction 7 infiltration squad had managed to make it through the mountains bordering the outskirts of the once-great city of Edenlore. After an arduous battle that left their ranks severely diminished, they had finally breached the hard light barrier, an omnipresent protective shell surrounding the cathedral. Exhausted and running low on supplies, they were weak in body but strong in spirit. Their mission was to breach the heart of the cathedral and locate the throne room.
"Hurry down the left corridor; there should be a flight of stairs to the right!" Vector Lux, a young soldier of the Pharus Spei, recited aloud, providing the infiltration squad with the intelligence that had been gathered by the last platoon on their prior mission.
Sargent Lancer nodded. "You two, you're with me. The rest of you men cover our end."
Private Vector Lux obeyed Sargent Lancer's command and followed closely as they made their way up the stairwell. This was the opportunity they had long fought for; all the lives lost, all the bloodshed, all the years he'd spent training—it all led to this moment.
They sprinted up the flight of stairs. Vector glanced to his right, locking eyes with Private Sands. Both had been enlisted into the ranks of the Pharus Spei at the age of thirteen, and both had spent years on the battlefield, bearing witness to the horrors of the ceaseless war, the countless deaths of loved ones, and the all-consuming dread that governed their entire lives.
This mission's success would make all the difference and could very well bring an end to all the suffering. Peace could finally be achieved at long last. All of civilization's fate depended solely on this success.
Hordes of maligus––winged, bloodthirsty beasts––trailed behind them, existing solely to feed on the fear and flesh of men, of which their jagged teeth made short work. They were under his dominion. Hundreds of them stood watch over the cathedral through the night, ever vigilant. Throughout the long hours of the night, they were his enforcers.
Several soldiers had managed to fend off a portion of the maligus, allowing Sargent Lancer and his team to break from the group and toward the objective. However, they were severely outnumbered, and before long, they were overwhelmed by the malevolent beasts. Vector could hear their blood-curdling screams echoing through the stairwell as the Faction 7 soldiers were torn apart in the ensuing battle.
Sargent Lancer led the two soldiers up through the stairwell and into the grand hall, where they were met with a mighty staircase leading towards two large doors.
"Intel says that's the entrance to the throne room." Sargent Lancer activated a device on his wrist that displayed a holographic map of the cathedral's interior.
"What's our next move, Sarge?" Vector asked. Suddenly, Lancer's device emitted an alarming beeping sound.
A deep, unsettling, booming voice filled the hall.
"Impressive, humans, making it this far, and only at the cost of your entire fleet." Lum was its name; a behemoth of a bestial form emerged from behind the banister.
"Was it worth it? The annihilation of all your comrades?" Another demon, female in appearance, with long flowing hair and an alluring presence; its name was Langu.
"Food!" shouted another voice, raspy and excited. Esu appeared, its long and thin body dwarfed by Lum's broad and massive form.
"Let us gift them a quick and painful death as a prize for making it this far," Morto, the final demon, said as it walked forth, unveiling its massive bat-like wings, sneering down at the three intruders.
The Four Hellsmen, the deadliest of his enforcers. Sargent Lancer engaged his mechanical wrist gauntlets, setting them to incineration mode. He looked to his right. His fellow soldier stood there, trembling, trying to keep a brave face. His teeth clenched, his left hand on the hilt of his sword, still sheathed. Fear radiated from him.
He then looked to his right and saw Vector with his sword at the ready, his face stern, unshaken, and full of resolve. He had made his decision.
"Private Lux, when I give the order to move for those doors, we will cover you. Get through those doors and complete this mission. That's an order. Do you understand, soldier?" Sargent Lancer had given his final order, and Vector nodded.
"Now! Move!" Vector ran for the staircase, only to be blocked by the winged demon Morto, who dove downward with a sweeping strike of its claw.
Vector sprung backward narrowly, evading the demon's attack. Grasping his extendable, he then began blocking a barrage of strikes from above, his steel blade clanging against the demon's talons. Like a hungry vulture, the demon attacked relentlessly, swooping up and then backing down with violent vigor.
A storm of bullets pelted the demon's body, causing it to collapse to the ground. Sargent Lancer readjusted his gauntlets and readied himself with another round of ammunition. "Go, that's an order!"
He set off another round of shots; the bullets sprayed both banisters, heaving a cloud of debris into the air. Lum jumped from atop the banister and landed heavily on the marble floor below, fracturing it with its tremendous weight. It heaved its neck back, puffed out its wide-breasted chest, inhaling deeply, and then exhaled a large wall of flames. Vector, using his jet propulsion boots, propelled himself into the air. From above, he watched the flames dissipate, hoping his team had survived the inferno below.
Vector launched himself forward in the direction of the throne room doors. Suddenly, swarms of flies appeared, obscuring his sight. He felt something grab hold of his left ankle and begin to pull him down. He looked down to see a hairy, greasy, and dark leg tugging at him.
Langu cackled, using its tendril-like locks of hair to further ensnare the slayer. A nameless soldier lunged at the demon with an arching slash of his steel blade, severing the wretched, ghastly tendrils and allowing Vector to escape.
"Go Lux, go now while we hold them off! Go!" he shouted, desperately fending off the demon Esu, who had gotten the upper hand. He had managed to pin him to the floor and begun draining him of his life essence. He shrieked in terror until all that was left was a withered, lifeless husk sprawled out on the floor.
In a state of desperate rage, Vector engaged his gauntlets and shot Esu with a pinpoint hit to the head, causing it to explode on impact. Lum leaped into the air, wrapping its massive arms around the slayer, and they came crashing down. Now, Vector was at the mercy of the demon. Staring into its eyes, he could see nothingness, only hatred and malicious intent glowing in those red pits.
"Let hell have you, Pharus Spei," the demon said, raising its head and preparing to unleash a blast of its fiery breath. Suddenly, a gleam of shimmering light tore through its chest, moving upward and splitting it down the middle of its massive torso.
Lancer stood triumphant, his plasma saber in hand. He had sustained noticeable burn wounds to his right arm; even so, he wore a face of gratification as he watched the beast fall to pieces. The three remaining demons gathered around the shredded corpse.
Having faced the Hellsmen numerous times before, Lancer knew it wouldn't be long before the beasts would regenerate and return to fighting form.
He knew he had to do whatever he could to allow Private Lux a chance to reach the throne room. He ignited his plasma blade, flipping a switch on the blade's handle. It began to grow in length, losing its straight shape, resembling that of a loose line of wire, glowing and growing into a whip made of pure light energy.
Then it began. With the flick of his wrist, the plasma whip looped outward and then inward, and suddenly, in a flurry of movements, it had begun to move in every direction, cutting through marble pillars, the banister above, and everything in its path. The demons backed away, doing all they could to avoid its wrath.
"On your feet, Vector!" he commanded, his voice still strong and focused.
Vector rose, regained his focus, and turned toward the two large wooden doors. He ran up the steps, hesitating for an instant at the top. Sargent Lancer called out to him. Turning, Vector met his gaze––a look of reassurance, pride, acceptance, but most of all, hope.
With that, Lancer deactivated the plasma weapon and tossed it to Vector Lux. They exchanged nods.
Vector now knew with all certainty that the fate of the world was in his hands. Yet, for a moment, he found himself unable to move forward. He turned once more for a final lingering glance back at Sargent Lancer, fully aware of the fate that awaited him once he walked through those doors. It was a feeling of hopelessness.
Summoning all his resolve, he pushed through the heavy doors and into his throne room.
The throne room of Kayn.

Respect Gohan

"...Ok, so you don't like to fight. But what's this nonsense about not wanting to kill me? You couldn't kill me in a hundred years! Am I wrong?"
"I'm beginning to get it now...why dad said only I could defeat you. Ever since I was little... when I get mad, I lose control and go berserk. I think...that's what dad's counting on..."
♫Tamashii Vs Tamashii/♫Great Saiyaman/♫ Gohan's Anger/♫Climax
The son of Goku and Chichi, Gohan was born in a time of peace after the defeat of Piccolo Jr. Unlike his father Gohan doesn't enjoy fighting, instead wishing to become a great scholar. Gohan's life would be forever changed when his uncle Raditz arrived on Earth, told Goku and Gohan they were actually members of a bloodthirsty alien race called saiyans, and kidnapped Gohan. Goku set out to rescue him, accompanied by Piccolo, though they found themselves no match for Raditz until Gohan got mad and unleashed his hidden strength on him. This gave Piccolo the opening he needed to kill Raditz, with his attack also killing Goku in the process. Then Piccolo kidnapped Gohan and trained him to prepare for the arrival of two more saiyans in a year. He battled the pair along with the rest of the Z Fighters (though not without heavy casualties), landing the final blow against Vegeta after transforming into a Great Ape.
Gohan would spend the rest of his childhood battling evil alongside the Z Fighters, most notably the bio-android Cell. Pushed to his mental and physical limits against the villain, Gohan snapped and transformed into a Super Saiyan 2. His newfound power allowed him to easily overpower Cell, and after accidentally causing his father's death when too overconfident, he finally killed him with a gigantic Kamehameha.
Eventually Gohan met a girl named Videl and the two got married, with their daughter Pan born soon afterwards. He also retired from martial arts, believing the newfound peace would last.
This wouldn't be the end of Gohan's time fighting though, with new threats like the resurrected Frieza, the world-devouring galactic criminal Moro, and a multiversal tournament to decide which universe lived or died convincing him that he needed to begin training again (though he does still forget to from time to time).

What’s up guys. I play defense and block a lot of shots. Sometimes it gets pretty physical too. I currently wear supreme shoulders but they’re falling apart and I want to get some new ones before I have to repair them again. Has anyone played with Jetspeed or vapor pads and taken shots or sticks to the body or been hit wearing them that can give me an idea of whether it’s worth the switch for me because my supremes are super bulky. Im kinda thinking of doing what I did with my elbows which is max out the protection with the top tier vapors because I appreciate the extra mobility. But I don’t want to get jacked up because I had the wrong gear.
