I just finished impulsively breaking up with my boyfriend. I constantly feel like he doesn’t care about me. For example, tonight we just broke up because he promised to call me and then he never did. He doesn’t send a text or anything and this is a weekly occurrence. It’s like he gets around friends and always forgets about me. I wouldn’t care but what makes me sad is he said he would call. I never asked him to because I know he does things like this, so I never want to put myself in a situation to be let down. But he said he would and didn’t. It’s tough because I am always trying to build myself up and believe that he does care but he is admittedly emotionally unavailable. I know he was hurt in the past and his family situation lends itself to someone shutting off their emotions. However, for years now I stayed around hoping that we could open up and be vulnerable but it never really happens. Then whenever he does try opening up he just stops himself.

Scott Possiel - WR120 freshman fall and WR152 freshman spring, grad student teacher. pretty chill and class was interesting (mediterranean religion [roman religions]), learned strong amount about writing. no complaints, hope he's on to great things.
Alexander Nikolaev - CL/208LX208 freshman fall. awesome class on zoom, funny and knowledgeable dude, learned so much about about indo-european linguistics, and sparked basically all my interest about linguistics. assignments were fun and refreshing. one of my favorite professors at BU despite only having had one class with him, unfortunately he disappeared (left?) after 2020 and I have no idea why, nor did any of my classmates. lucky to have had his last BU class in first semester of freshman year.

stephen scully - hi406 senior spring. no interest in the subject (iliad translations) when i joined class and minimal interest in the subject as I leave the class (and BU). chill professor, but grades harshly and requires a lot of writing. cold calls often. class was also quite unorganized for entire first half. in terms of material, honestly a lot of stuff in class felt quite arbitrary in understanding (as is probably the case with most literature classes, which i did not take outside of this). recommend if you really love classical literature / mythology / philology (or anything humanities), don't recommend for classical history (or anything social sciences).
Rui Hua - HI364 junior fall, HI370 junior spring, HI553 senior fall. the most energetic, fun, chill professor i've had at BU, every lecture was a blast and even if i went to class in a bad mood it was impossible to leave without a smile on my face. took us on field trips to relevant destinations when possible. I had the first 3 classes he's ever taught as a professor ever (I think), and it definitely showed bc they were somewhat unorganized or ad hoc. but i am sure his teaching will only get better as time progresses, learned a lot and had a great time in all his classes, he does cover some overlapping material in them so if u take them u might repeat some stuff. also super lenient on deadlines but i do not encourage delaying all of them to the last minute as I did like an idiot. easy classes overall, but if you like the subject he definitely is encouraging for those who want to learn more. recommend.

Scott Possiel - WR120 freshman fall and WR152 freshman spring, grad student teacher. pretty chill and class was interesting (mediterranean religion [roman religions]), learned strong amount about writing. no complaints, hope he's on to great things.
Alexander Nikolaev - CL/208LX208 freshman fall. awesome class on zoom, funny and knowledgeable dude, learned so much about about indo-european linguistics, and sparked basically all my interest about linguistics. assignments were fun and refreshing. one of my favorite professors at BU despite only having had one class with him, unfortunately he disappeared (left?) after 2020 and I have no idea why, nor did any of my classmates. lucky to have had his last BU class in first semester of freshman year.
Christine Papadakis - CS112 freshman fall. her ratemyprofessor 1.9 score says enough, bad at explaining topics, strange class vibes, pretty unhelpful. seems like a nice person though. main reason i did not continue with compsci after 1 semester at BU, class wasn't too difficult (got B+ and could have done better if i tried harder) but it was so utterly boring it was the dread of every week and genuinely difficult to find any will to do work for it. lectures were insufferably boring, especially on replay when studying. avoid her at all costs.

Me and my sp met three years ago at a party, and he fell in love with me at first sight but was not so active. In our third meeting, he kissed me, and just like that, we started dating. In the beginning, he was so obsessed with me; even when we fought, he was the one who always made things work for us. But after one year of dating, everything changed, and he started showing his avoidant detachment style. And our fights got worse each time; l was always the one who was trying to solve our problem while he was with his friends when our relationship fell apart. It happened every three months when he started avoiding me without any reason. In April, I had a tough period in my life. I was stressed already, and I found out the company I was working with had blackmailed me for a significant amount of money. I was on my way to that company and was stressed about the situation, so I called my SP to clarify my thoughts. I just wanted to repeat the scripts of what I would tell. But he was just annoyed; even if he knew I was already stressed, he started complaining that I was interrupting him. We began to fight by phone, And he blocked me; after I finished, I went to him because my situation was terrible and I wanted some support, but when I arrived, he was only talking about himself, about how bad I was. After two days, he wrote that he was sorry and wanted to meet me. I was not in a good mood and asked him why he would just come without talking. He was again upset and said he didn't care anymore; after that, I wrote Then Let's break up. He never read this message, and that's how our no-contact is going.

I guess in a way this is akin to an origin ghost story. It was about a young couple who buys a nice home and wanting the house to have a ghost. The premise sounds like the making of a comedy. Yet as you slide into the movie it’s obvious the husband who had loads of secrets was just humoring his wife.
The house is haunted and the scene with the couple and he leaves but you can still see his reflection in the glass door. The marriage is unraveling with his secrets and as a businessman he was not ethical to say the least. The ghosts do appear and talk to Mary each saying they were not her ghost. You never find out who her ghost is.
The ghosts were just former people. There were scary scenes but you realize the ghost was trying to get her attention.
I liked how the story was in a way flipped. This was a woman who wanted a ghost to call her own yet discovered they are just the spirits of the dead.
It’s on FreeVee I guess in today’s world where folks have run out of things they want I guess ghosts are the last want. I think the lesson is do you really want a ghost or a close encounter with the dead.
I highly recommend it. There is a Foreclosure 2 made by same people in 2024.i am shocked IMDb has zero reviews on this movie.

Commiserating as I’m sure many do in this forum…. I’ve been trying to buy a property for 4 years with no luck.
2020/2021: Market is crazy and I spent about 8-9 months putting in countless offers on condos in my area while constantly being outbid or just not selected before finally going under contract in December 2020. Seller backed out when appraisal came back $10k below asking and I didn’t have extra cash to pay over the appraised price at the time. After the holidays, the seller ended up getting my phone number from the association (which is highly unethical) and contacted me directly to try to reinstate the deal. I guess he figured we’d have the same closing date as before which was important since he was trying to close on a different house. I entertained it for another couple of months while enduring threats from him about pulling out of the deal if I wasn’t able to expedite our closing (amongst other things). After finding out about a surprise probate situation on his condo, the seller ultimately lost the deal on the house he wanted to buy and wanted me to extend my closing for a few months while he started shopping for another house. The rate lock was getting to be incredibly expensive and I ultimately decided to cancel my contract with him.
After the condo fell through, I was just drained. Drained from showing after showing, offer after offer and not getting further along in my homeownership journey. So I took a break… an extended break until my life changed forever…
In April 2023 my dad began having health issues for the first time in his life. What began as blood clots ended up being Stage 4 cancer. We lost him just 4 weeks after diagnosis which was a huge shock and absolutely devastating to our family. My dad was always an incredible provider and wanted to make sure his family was taken care of in the event that something were to happen to him. I wouldn’t have been able to even consider buying in this market as I’ve unfortunately been priced out of the city I grew up in, but my dad made it possible once again. I also know homeownership was not just a dream for me, but HIS dream for me as well. He insisted that the market just HAS to get better because it’s unsustainable at this rate, yet every year we’d see housing prices rise and rise.
Fast forward to 2024: I’ve been trying to pick up the pieces of my life after losing my dad. I started the year with a surprise $300/month rent increase for the same condo I’ve been renting for 7+ years. So not only had I been priced out of homeownership but also of renting in my hometown. Even with the $300 increase, my rent is substantially lower than any other area around where I live so no option to move somewhere cheaper.
I began the home hunting process once again, knowing that I would soon have enough money for a substantial down payment to make my monthly mortgage payments affordable. After 40+ showings and a few failed offers, I finally went under contract for a beautiful townhome in a city that was a bit further south than where I wanted to be, but in a safe area which was enough for me to go for it. We did the inspection and discovered a few minor cosmetic issues, but some bigger issues with the roof. The sellers also installed solar panels on their 15 year old roof in 2021 and had a $36k loan that was to be assumed by the buyer. All things considered, I decided that this was not going to be a wise investment and we went back to the listing agent to try to negotiate on the price before moving forward with the appraisal. We would’ve still ended up over the asking price, but now the sellers and LA were acting like we were trying to lowball them despite all these newfound issues and the understanding that the appraisal would likely come back low as well. Ultimately after going back-and-forth for a couple days, the sellers decided that if we didn’t stick to the original price we offered ($22k over asking) they would no longer be selling their home and would just continue living there. Ok… no problem…
I continued my search and to my surprise quickly found another property that I absolutely love. More suitable area, lake view, and I was ready to submit my offer. The problem is, it’s listed about $40k-$50k over the comps in the area. My realtor spoke to the LA to gauge the situation and was told that the seller is set on this price regardless of the appraised value. I can even see that it was listed in 2022 for the same price and then unlisted after sitting for three months. It’s well within my budget, but I can’t justify paying that much over the appraised price. So no offer here either…
I don’t know if it’s just the area that I live in but I’ve seen so many properties in complete disrepair and awful condition that are listed significantly over what they should be. I understand that a house is worth whatever someone is willing to pay for it but it’s really disheartening to continue seeing these overblown prices at every turn. Even my first declined offer this year was a vacant townhome/condo that had been sitting on the market for over four months because the sellers were delusional about the price considering the condition the unit was in. With this last contract, it makes sense to me. The sellers probably realized that they were going to be paying a lot more to buy a property that wasn’t necessarily better than the one they were living in. If I had an amazing interest rate and very little left on my mortgage, I probably wouldn’t move either. I’m trying not to get discouraged but feel like it’s been a tough journey from the moment it began. Kudos to you if you stuck around to the end of my crazy ramblings. The search continues….

I began the home hunting process once again, knowing that I would soon have enough money for a substantial down payment to make my monthly mortgage payments affordable. After 40+ showings and a few failed offers, I finally went under contract for a beautiful townhome in a city that was a bit further south than where I wanted to be, but in a safe area which was enough for me to go for it. We did the inspection and discovered a few minor cosmetic issues, but some bigger issues with the roof. The sellers also installed solar panels on their 15 year old roof in 2021 and had a $36k loan that was to be assumed by the buyer. All things considered, I decided that this was not going to be a wise investment and we went back to the listing agent to try to negotiate on the price before moving forward with the appraisal. We would’ve still ended up over the asking price, but now the sellers and LA were acting like we were trying to lowball them despite all these newfound issues and the understanding that the appraisal would likely come back low as well. Ultimately after going back-and-forth for a couple days, the sellers decided that if we didn’t stick to the original price we offered ($22k over asking) they would no longer be selling their home and would just continue living there. Ok… no problem…
I continued my search and to my surprise quickly found another property that I absolutely love. More suitable area, lake view, and I was ready to submit my offer. The problem is, it’s listed about $40k-$50k over the comps in the area. My realtor spoke to the LA to gauge the situation and was told that the seller is set on this price regardless of the appraised value. I can even see that it was listed in 2022 for the same price and then unlisted after sitting for three months. It’s well within my budget, but I can’t justify paying that much over the appraised price. So no offer here either…
I don’t know if it’s just the area that I live in but I’ve seen so many properties in complete disrepair and awful condition that are listed significantly over what they should be. I understand that a house is worth whatever someone is willing to pay for it but it’s really disheartening to continue seeing these overblown prices at every turn. Even my first declined offer this year was a vacant townhome/condo that had been sitting on the market for over four months because the sellers were delusional about the price considering the condition the unit was in. With this last contract, it makes sense to me. The sellers probably realized that they were going to be paying a lot more to buy a property that wasn’t necessarily better than the one they were living in. If I had an amazing interest rate and very little left on my mortgage, I probably wouldn’t move either. I’m trying not to get discouraged but feel like it’s been a tough journey from the moment it began. Kudos to you if you stuck around to the end of my crazy ramblings. The search continues….

It seems to me almost everyone can agree the reboot MWIII from last year was a terrible game. When IGN (the top tier reviewers they are) gave it a 4 I was shocked. Mostly because even those who have long track records of defending COD didn't pull punches.
So I'm wondering where is everyone's head at with the recent rumors of it being Black Ops 6, being on Gamepass, etc.
Do you care? Are you excited beyond belief? Personally I'm not. At all. And I fucking love Black Ops. But the last few years, and especially last year seem to be the worst in recent memory.

the 2 human guests finally arrived. I'm starting to think the client had these guests over because she meant to overlap the dog's care as I was out of her budget for additional days. Normally I don't mind taking over care from another person but the lack of communication by the client is appalling.

I've provided regular repeat drop-ins for a sweet well-trained pup for the past few months. Occasionally they will send last-minute requests/cancellations or ask me to drop by later in the day which I have easily accommodated each time. Eventually, they requested me to house-sit for a weekend a few months in advance. They had initially wanted me to "stay the entire time" so I clearly stated I could provide those services with an added cost. After comparing the costs they settled for a house-sit that would allow me to enter and exit their house for at most 6 hours.
morning of the house-sit:
I get a text message detailing that 2 other human guests would "possibly" be present during the house sit. I have never encountered this predicament before (after 1.5 years of consistent work on Rover) and was shocked and offended that such an important detail was left out as I would have never agreed to these terms; the clients emphasized that they would still prefer I stayed the night because there was no guarantee those human guests would arrive.

I haven't encountered any human guests which makes me wonder if they only stated "possible" human guests as a scare tactic to check up on the house and dog while under my care...which is ironic given they have given me consistent 5-star reviews for the drop-ins I have provided in the past and they also have a camera in their living room.
Yes, I could have canceled on the client as soon as they told me of these "human guests" but I'm only staying for a few nights, those guests are of the same sex as me, and I didn't want to disturb their weekend getaway. Outside of how unorganized and last minute the clients are, the dog is well-trained and an easy pup.
However, I would strongly hesitate to book house-sits with them moving forward.

Clients booked me for a house sit with overnights and surprised me with other possible human house guests the day of. These other human house guests have yet to show themselves but it is keeping me on edge.

- had a lack of instructions on when their medication would need to start and where to apply it (this new medication was sprung on me the morning of and I received zero clarity even after messaging to clarify)
