Bought a Dell earlier this year - just in time for the 49Million customer list breach. (Yes, I got the email)
Foolishly I didn't wipe and reload from clean media but instead tidied up and decrapified the OEM Win11 install, and reloaded my data and programs from my old, retired WIn10 box.
I was tidying up my machinea few days ago, noticed an odd process and researched it, landing on THIS Dell page. A marginally useful but unnecessary function that I promptly deleted. However what horrified me was that the page ALSO identified my machine, it's model number and SERVICE TAG. In FIREFOX. (Tag redacted). My wife's machine (identical, purchased at the same time) was rebuilt merely by cloning her Win10 build over the Win11 OEM build - Miraculously, after a couple of driver updates it worked perfectly, even retaining the Windows and Adobe licenses. And her machine is unidentified on the above webpage.
If you visit this site on a clean, or non DELL machine, the webpage merely suggests you download Dell supportassist - some sort of remote access support tool. SO it seems there is some low-level network tinkering going on to allow supportassist to squirt information back to Dell. Convenient for Dell - very - but a scary privacy nightmare. I immediately uninstalled supportassist (should have done it earlier) and the detection went away (after a reboot, not before) - and all other Dell-related software - but I think a wipe and re-install off clean Win11 media is now on the horizon.
I've no idea if this is secure, encrypted or available/hackable to other parties or malicious websites, but the risks and privacy implications are worrying - to put it mildly.

Whenever I get bumped or hit the ball to hard its like a 50% chance that my input delay becomes insanely bad and it is way worse in the air. Air dribbling is a nightmare my flip resets leave my car stuck to the ball or the car starts spazzing out. Assuming it is server desync or in my logs but I have tried everything else you could think of (bought new everything, new wifi, controllers, wires, headset,, mouse. for christ sake a new mouse pad and I play controller. It has been a good 3 months now with no solution I don't want I have to quit the game because god it is so satisfying and playing with music makes my heart whole but I see no option. I am top 3% in cod SnD and love the game but can't stand hackers anymore and how op controller aim assist is (I am MnK) but have tried controller and input is perfectly fine on every other game. My also attempt is logs and event viewer cuz I cannot read these things at all. Could it be the games net code? It does it in freeplay as well with my wifi connection disable. Losing my minddd here.

Hey Reddit,
I wanted to share my story and some insights I’ve gained while building TextCraft AI, especially for those indie hackers and entrepreneurs out there struggling to get their projects off the ground.
Background
I’m 29 now, and I’ve been involved in building startups since I was 18. I’ve faced the same problems many indie hackers do—starting projects and never finishing them. As an introvert, I didn't have many connections in the entrepreneurial ecosystem, which made things even tougher. I live in Ontario, Canada, where the tech community isn’t particularly helpful, and I moved here from India when I was 18.

• Meeting My Co-Founder

I met my co-founder back in India. He was still in college and didn’t have much time, so I taught him programming so we could start something together. Initially, we thought about developing smart carts for shopping centers, but we abandoned that idea. With AI booming, I convinced him to build something in that space with me.

• Launching TextCraft AI

We launched our startup, TextCraft AI (https://textcraftai.com), on Product Hunt (https://www.producthunt.com/products/textcraft-ai). I thought the votes would come automatically, but they didn’t. We had to invite people manually to vote for our product. Despite getting organic votes from places like Indie Hackers, we couldn't secure the top spot due to marketing agency bots on Product Hunt.
On launch day, we had 15+ users register, which was an amazing feeling. Most users came from Reddit, Indie Hackers, etc. We got featured in several newsletters, and I started focusing on SEO. On the second day, our first user paid $15 for the premium version, but we didn't get another paying user for a month.

• Growing Pains and Successes

Our user base started growing, and people began posting about our product everywhere. I tried Google Ads, Facebook Ads, etc., but most users wanted free stuff and weren't willing to pay due to fierce competition.
When we crossed 300 users, I started reaching out to investors. With no connections, I used Twitter (X) and various email lists. Most investors on Twitter say they are looking for deals but don’t respond or just reject plainly. Eventually, I met an amazing VC who gave me a due diligence sheet, but I realized I didn’t need VC money to scale the project.

• Co-Founder Leaving

Two months ago, my co-founder left the project because he lost interest. He didn’t invest money into the business and stopped showing up for meetings. I ended up helping him get a job. Now, we have 550 registered users, 30k visitors, 2300 backlinks, and users signing up daily due to our SEO efforts.

• Starting a New Venture

• Lessons Learned

1. Most VCs on Twitter are there for publicity. They fund who they like, not necessarily the best ideas.
2. Entrepreneurship is hard. Even with 15 years of programming experience, starting startups and four patents, it's a tough journey.
3. Life is tough without the right connections. Being brilliant isn’t enough.
4. You’ll get more non-paying users than paying ones.It’s just how it is.
5. Most revenue numbers you see online are lies. Don’t believe everything you read.
6. Find a community that supports you and your product. This is crucial for growth.
7. Start with the cheapest tech possible. Don’t overthink it.
8. Stay humble. Owning a startup doesn’t mean you own the world.
9. Support others. Helping others can open unexpected doors.

It's hard to say what exactly separates the seedy underbelly of Seattle from the middle and upper-class neighborhoods. There are just as many drones flying overhead and crawling underfoot, just as many signs in meatspace and augmented reality advertising all manner of good times, just as many colorful astral sights to see for the magically active folk who can see them. The differences are subtle, but still noticeable if you know how to look.
Perhaps it's the way people look at you as though they're either planning to mug you or defend themselves in case you feel like mugging them. Perhaps it's the abundance of flickering lights and generally janky infrastructure all around, giving many things the look of being not entirely up to code or legally constructed. Perhaps it's the feeling that you're out from under the constant watch of the powers that be, for better and for worse.
People who know the shadows know that anything and anyone can be found there, for the right price and after some hard looking. Need a street-doc to dig a Ruger Super Warhawk bullet out of your shoulder off the books? Need a decker to leak your cheating ex's naughty pictures all over the local grid? Need a street-mage to skip the drugs and cast a spell directly stimulating the pleasure center of your brain? Need an armored ork with a shotgun to kick in a door somewhere and pump the guy who stole your girlfriend full of buckshot? You can find all those things and more on the streets, chummer, if you know where and how to look, and if you can pay the fee that might not always be a simple nuyen transaction.
As your path begins turning you down the darker streets, and into the places where concerned upper-class parents warn their dopey college kids to stay far away from, the locals can all tell you're not from around here. A rat shaman takes a peek at your aura and isn't all that impressed, a decker scans your devices and decides your comlink isn't worth the bother of hacking, an armored ork with a shotgun sizes you up and goes back to his monster-sized burger at the street kitchen, deciding you're as much a threat to him as an itchy pair of underwear. They know at a glance you're not from around here, but most simply don't care. It's hardly a rare occurrence that someone from "out of town" wanders in; most are simply looking for someplace else, in which case they simply wander back out again, looking for business or pleasure, in which case they find it and move on when their errand is finished, or looking for trouble, in which case they end up shot, stabbed, burned, bruised, drained of astral lifeforce, or with a thin stream of blue smoke coming from their ear where a bricked piece of cranial cyberware once resided. Sometimes all at once, and sometimes with even more...creative ends.
But you're on a mission, you're looking for the next phase of your life. Any long-time denizen of the shadows will tell you that there comes a time in all their lives when they have to pack up the past, store it all away in the attic where their memories go, and start fresh with a clean slate and hopefully some lessons learned. That's what's got you in the sketchy side of town this evening. The only question left is who you are now.

You don't need to already be familiar with Shadowrun to take part, I'll happily answer whatever questions I can for anyone who doesn't already know them but has an interest.
I'd like to do a story about someone not from the shadows having/wanting to uproot their former life and transition into the life offered by the sketchy criminal underworld. Ideally, I'd like it to be long-term since there's rarely a dull day in the life of someone from the shadows and there are all kinds of interesting stories to weave from that basic thread. I'm a big fan of "found family" and "honor among thieves" vibes, maybe we could do something with that?
If anyone is curious, I'm male, 25 years of age, and from the EST time zone. I've been roleplaying for about half my life and playing Shadowrun for 6 or 7 years, so while I'm not a grandmaster of either, I think I know enough about both to create an awesome story with someone who wants to work with me. I'd be happy to send a writing sample to anyone who wants to verify that for themselves.
I want my partner to be 18+ since there can be some dark things that happen in the shadows, and I'd like my partner to be at least semi-literate, but otherwise, I'm more or less open to anyone! Edit: this has blown up a bit more than intended. I want to clarify, that even from the start, I believed Hoj's actions were wrong, and I agreed with the decision to ban him. I myself agreed to ban him from the exchange program RP server when I still owned it. Also, some of the things that were mentioned by people in the comments of this post are things I was unaware of, and they definitely make the situation much worse. I do condemn his actions, I just don't believe that anyone is entirely irredeemable, and seeing any amount of hatred in a community that I enjoy for it's wholesome messages of empathy triumphing over all, it just bothers me. It's clear that Hoj hurt a lot more people a lot worse than I knew about, though, and I am sorry for seeming to support his actions. I suppose I've always been an idealist, who tries to see the good in everyone, even when it's overshadowed by the bad.

This was originally a reply to someone on my post about a hacker getting to me through Hoj's hacked account, but there were a few people in the comments of that post I want to see this, so it's easier to just post it here. Please, if you want to say anything, read through the whole thing. If you don't take the time to understand my position, you don't have an informed opinion on it to share with me.
That entire scandal was a clusterfuck, but I'm pretty sure Hoj isn't a pedo. He had only turned 18 shortly before it all went down, and was only 17 to Lucky's 14 when they first started with the NSWF stuff. He and Lucky made some stupid decisions, but they were both minors when most of the stuff was going on, and I can't hate either of them for it. And I had to dig into the mod reports pretty deeply, because nearly everyone involved in the scandal was also in the exchange program RP, which I was running at the time, and I felt I had a responsibility to judge them fairly. Even most of the adults involved weren't actually pedos, they got involved with Lucky when they still thought he was an adult. It was definitely wrong of them to not cut him off from that sort of thing when they realized, but I can understand why they didn't. It's easier to just ignore the new information and continue with the status quo than to actually accept deep down that you've been commissioning horny art from a minor.
The people involved were stupid, but I honestly think almost all of them were victims of the situation, even most of the adults. Lucky and Hoj were both good kids. Rather horny behind closed doors, and they made some stupid decisions, but they were still good, and I genuinely miss them both. And for most of the adults, their failings were morally reprehensible, yes, but I can confidently say the majority of them weren't pedophiles. Lucky wasn't a kid to them, he was a talented artist who approached them and advertised his NSFW commissions. They should have been more careful, but they weren't exactly preying on kids. I'm not going to say they were great people, but they are hardly irredeemable.
But yeah, I will stand up for Hoj, and Lucky too. They made dumb teenager mistakes because they were dumb teenagers, but it broke my fucking heart when I had to ban them and the others from the RP server. Those of you who have interacted with me will know I refer to my hiatus a lot, and this is what caused that. After being forced by my responsibility to the community to hurt these people I care about, I couldn't stand to be around NOP for a while, or even open Reddit, because every time I did, all I could think about was the decent people who I had to hurt because they made honest mistakes.
A big part of the reason the scammer got me is because, just last night, I had been thinking about the scandal, and Hoj, and how I hoped he was doing all right. So when I thought this guy I liked and pitied, who was cut off by the community that means so much to the both of us, was reaching out to me to reconnect as a friend, I let myself believe it was him, when it clearly wasn't.

But yeah. I know that banning everyone involved from the community on Discord was undeniably the right decision. I came to the same conclusion, and did the same on my server. But these people deserve your pity, not your hatred. The human mind wasn't built to interact with people on the other side of the screen, and when you only have text interactions to go off of, you can be completely fooled by even a veneer of maturity, and once you have a mental image of a person as being a certain age, it's really hard to change that mental image, even when you have direct evidence.
I want you to read the way I write, and take a guess at my age. I'll put it in a spoiler, so you have time to think about it.>! I'm 21.!< Were you right? Were you even close? Did you imagine I was young, or old? And can you imagine how, if I had a different writing style, you might have made a very different assumption?
And that assumption is hard to shake, just as I was unable to shake the assumption that the scammer I was talking to was actually Hoj. I saw so many red flags. The whole structure of it followed the plot of a typical Discord scam. The website the fake game was on was only a couple months old, with only one comment. It looks simultaneously polished, and also lacked so much of the detailed information you'd expect on such a polished website. The file seemed way too small to be a game with the sorts of graphics shown on the website. My mind was screaming with alarm bells. I literally though to myself at multiple points "this feels like a scam." But I simply could not force myself to disbelieve that this was Hoj, asking me for help, and I didn't want to be cruel and call him a scammer after everything he went through in the scandal.
I think most of the adults in the scandal were the same way when they were told that Lucky was only 14. They simply couldn't disbelieve that he wasn't an adult too.
At it's core, NOP1 is about the value of empathy, of not assuming someone is a monster. Please live up to that. It really hurts me to see you guys jump to hateful conclusions, because the NOP community of all people should know better.

I am a wartime veteran but I never saw combat thank God. I've been in this housing assistance program for 9 years and everything has been pretty cool but now I got this new social worker and she's pretty much like my only goal is keep you housed and if you have any other problems you're on your own.

I was in game as Trapper attempting to get the Adept Trapper achievement when I was suddenly removed from the game with a message saying something along the lines of 'account could not be validated with EasyAntiCheat'. Upon leaving the game to the main menu, I was met with the notice of a 10 year ban for 'Exploiting: Abusing bugs or errors in design to gain a competitive advantage'. The ban is set to end May 31, 2034 (10 years).
I do not, and have never used any cheat, exploit, bug, or error in design to gain a competitive advantage. I don't know what triggered this. The only possible thing I can think of is using the rendering of the generator aura to hit a 'homing' huntress hatchet earlier today. As this is something widely known in the community, showcased by many streamers, including those who are in the Fog Whisperers program, I doubt this was the reason for the ban.
I have seen users on this sub say hackers can make the system think that a different player is a hacker using their IP or server ID. I don't know if it's true, but maybe that is what happened. Admittedly, I was 'slugging' for a few minutes trying to get the Adept Trapper achievement when I got banned. So I may have pissed someone off who knew how to do that. One player left right before bleeding out, and within a minute or two I was banned.
Has something odd like this happened to any of you? I've submitted tickets to both EAC and BHVR, what are the chances I'll be back in time for the anniversary event? Is the whole 'causing others to be banned thing' BS or an actual possibility?

My fiancé signed up online to take part of a company's (TVision Insights) program about 2 years ago. Not to be confused with TVision by TMobile. They say they perform TV & ad measurement through CTV. Compare to the idea of Nielssen if you will. They send you a $15 gift card of your choice every month (pretty lame). Anything from Amazon to restaurants to a prepaid Visa. Other than their website, there is not much info about them out there.
So anyway, he qualified to be a "panelist" and they sent us an Intel Nuc (a full blown computer for free) to attach to the our main TV. It's connected to our home network and has a Logitech webcam facing us at all times along with some lousy homemade looking stapled instructions. It's used in conjuction with an app you download on Play Store called Panelist Connect which does nothing more than alert you immediately if an internet connection is not getting to the NUC.
I never thought much of TVision at the time or really until now, but here are some strange things that have occured that may or may not be related if you don't think it's already fishy yet:

• (I work as an Help Desk Analyst) so I'm not just throwing around terms I don't know about here) Every device I use has had to be factory reset due to Trojans, keyloggers, SQL injection attempts, JS exploits, Android pen testing programs' Github source code files on my PC, executables I didn't download, etc. I'm pretty into cybersecurity so I don't go around doing dumb s*** with my info. The virus/malware reports came from Windows Defender full scans and my TP-Link router's Home Protection blocked activity. This has been going on for...2 years.

-TVision claims to do their business out of two offices - one in New York and the other in Massachusetts. I looked both addresses up and their current tenants. TVision (they don't have a parent company) is not and seems to have never been listed as a tenant.
-They also have TVision Japan and TVision India on the bottom of their site. My fiancé and I constantly get Japanese sites we never signed up for (ex. A Japanese XMPP server used through Xabber.com with several contacts with hacker images saved who are all out of Japan) saved to our Google Password Managers with our normally used credentials. Our search histories contain Japanese and Indian sites we've never heard of. Our YouTube suggestions consist almost ENTIRELY of videos from India and you guessed it..Japan.
-Their site claims they do business with NBC, The Weather Channel...many other huge companies.. and claim to work in these crazy executive suites and have millions of dollars, BUT the Pannelist Connect app you have to use has only 1000 lifetime downloads..so they make their money and do this big business how? They barely have any customers..
-Their staff on LinkedIn have odd histories and some go right back to being based out of Japan even though it's supposed to be an MIT fresh out of college startup. I promise I have nothing against the country of Japan or its people, guys. Hope it doesn't sound that way.
-The only real people I've found talking about this company whatsoever are on Facebook and they (sorry) are people who seem like the textbook definitions of people who would fall for scams. Half of them are actually crying "scam!" in the comments and the other half are desperately begging for their late $15 gift card or asking how much money you get.
-BBB and other sites say they've been around for 7 years, 10 years...but they started up in 2021.
-The computer on the TV always sounds like it is working overtime even when the TV isn't on or there isn't any activity in the room. It's rarely at a normal quiet level.
-They make it their biggest point to say how private they are and how your data is not used for anything other than what they say and one of their FB slide style videos even says "we are never watching you" which I find ominous.
-I have a VERY unique first and last name combination. I've never found anyone else with it. There are fake profiles for me all over LinkedIn saying I work at a company I can't find anywhere on the internet. The address it lists for it? On the same street as the TVision "New York location" less than two minutes away.
So what do you think, Reddit? Weird or lots of coincidences? I've done my best to provide simply facts as you already know my opinion.

GTA Online is suffering heavily from cheating (just like any other online game), Rockstar will probably develope a anti cheat program that will have kernel level access to the users system to stop this issue, a lot of people have been against these types of anti cheats, the most aggresive anti cheat right now in the gaming world is Riot Games Vanguard anti cheat which is so aggresive that it will start up when you boot up windows and makes you restart your PC if you close the app, this is both good and bad, the good part is that its so aggresive that it will stop many hackers and cheaters from ruining the game, the bad part is that its always running in the background. some people including myself have a problem with that as some of these apps take screenshots from the screen your are looking at and thats a major issue for privacy
one other interesting anti cheating method is using AI to detect suspicious behaviour, that has never been done before the only game that has been experimenting with it is Counter-Strike 2 and we don't know how well it works

I will preface this post with saying most of the Hunt experience over the past few years that I've played is pretty good and it's without argument the most unique PvP (and PvPvE) out there. The guns feel great, the sound design is crisp and the artistic merit of the title in every aspect is leaps beyond any other shooter title out there. I don't plan on making this post a call to action so much as I'm taking a few minutes out of the day to leave feedback for the developers on why I'm dissatisfied as a player who was once addicted to their title. I want to say I'll miss playing the game but I won't, not because it's bad but because they moved away from what made it good (in my opinion).
Pacing: The game through my time playing has had dramatic shifts. I joined at the middle of the event where Headsman was first introduced. Events were and still are aggressive, encouraging the grouping of various teams to fight head to head in reasonable time if not faster. Fights were wild and fast-paced, and this being my introduction to the game mislead me about the painful reality that this game is mostly occupied by very slow and campy players. While the game can be fun when patient, there should be no reason a first person shooter stretches into the match times of RTS/MOBA games. Not only is the non-event gameplay slow, there are no real punishments for dragging out the clock both as the attacker or the defender. This isn't to say the game doesn't reward proactivity, but due to the nature of the economic drawbacks and permadeath youre very discouraged to be reckless.
The game has two instances where people are the most proactive and bombastic, the lowest ranks and the highest ranks. Between the ranks of 1-3 Star and the high end 6 stars (more like 7 stars or something) people play with very different loadouts and with forward aggression. This is because low levels have little money to burn or care about to begin with so they just try different things while on the flipside the high end players have so many hunt dollars that they will never have to worry about the downsides of a hunter death.
In between those two spots is that weird 3.5-5.5 star area where most of us float around statistically. People are trying to rank up deliberately and are motivated to win, so they adopt the best way to reduce their losses which discourages the chaos of risk and reward play. Is wanting to win and rank up wrong? No, but the collective behavior patterns encouraged just bottlenecks play variety and loadout variety. I'm tired of seeing Mosins, Lebels paired up with Uppers almost every game. Even as someone who bounces actively from 4.5 to 5.5 it's just too frequent to be enjoyable.
Too Much Complexity: Hunt is a niche game cherished for it's deep mechanics and pro/con loadout systems. The problem is that the game is too complicated to the point where it prevents the game from achieving a more reliable income and makes it a nightmare to manage against exploiters/3rd party programs. This also borders on madness with the release of so many guns that vary from redundant to crazy good. In some cases there are guns I never see used because they are eclipsed by better options. Bullet penetration, velocity, status effect stages all fly over the heads of the new to average player. That doesn't mean there shouldnt be a variety of these things but when you introduce custom ammo that changes the nature of the guns you tend to confuse less committed players even if they memorize the discharge sounds.
Penetrable terrain is tricky to do and in a game with hitboxes as crisp as Hunt it makes it that much more infuriating to learn when random bits of terrain fully absorb your shots or arent actual objects. You don't know what you can and cant shoot through truly until you invest hundreds to thousands of hours into the game. I feel like this game should be smoothly engaged by any shooter player on an instinctive level, not be weighed down by the inconsistencies. That issue aside penetration feels inconsistent to begin with on anything that doesn't use long ammo. Long time players will probably disagree but remember that you're a long time player and not all of us want to read into every crevice of a structure to know what is and isn't interactable with projectiles given the sheer detail of them.
Custom Ammuniton: Easily one of the best and worst parts of the game. Custom ammo can change the game on how a weapon functions and how threatened players are by it. The problem comes when you place too many of the same options on too many guns. Long ammo weapons shouldnt have custom ammunition given the sheer penetration and velocity they already have, and yet you give them things like FMJ and spitzer to further enhance their upsides. Custom ammunition should be given to guns that need a leg up into relevance, not make good guns better. As a Centennial enjoyer I still to this day have no idea why you would give it high velocity ammo and dumdum rounds. This basically makes karabiner worthless outside of it's scoped variant, because even the silenced centennial beats out silenced karabiner in utility and reliability. Not only that it uses LESS slots, you couldnt ask for more flexibility out of a weapon variant in the game right now. That's just one gun as my go-to example, but I'd say the Marathon is the perfect application of custom ammunition. Marathon is small ammo, high rate of fire with poison and FMJ rounds. The gun is already pretty good but doesnt do much damage and is a master of short to mid range engagements. FMJ lowers the already tame velocity but makes it more interactable with wall to wall gameplay or to use poison to really mow down NPCs in a hail of bullets. Crytek, please look at how well you did with the Marathon and apply that philosophy across the board!
Dominant Strategy: Velocity and penetration, can't do better than those two features in any weapon short of maybe high fire rates. This game has fallen into two categories: Long heavy hitters or spam in short to mid range. Every game is littered in fanning, levering, high rate of fire shotguns or long ammo. I barely ever see small and medium ammo options that fall out of these categories anymore, and that sucks because Hunt has so many cool guns. You might be asking why this is a problem when I praised the chaos of close and personal fights at the post's header, and my answer is that isn't the problem in itself. The problem is the reduction of variety, but this isn't just a Hunt issue so much as it is a player issue. Every shooter game with loadouts or weapon pickups devolves into people finding the strongest or most efficient thing because we aren't rewarded adequately for developing a variety of skills and approaches. I don't think Hunt can fix this, it's the nature of competitive games and the sweats that propagate it. Until Medium and small ammo get more appropriate advantages things won't change.
Cheaters/Exploits: Hunt has to be the most infested game title I've ever seen in my time with shooters, but mostly with exploiters as opposed to just outright cheaters. Software and hardware tampering to gain an advantage, outright cheating devices and 3rd party software as well as recoil correction macros are rife here. The anti-cheat is laughable and the problem will never be the priority of Crytek because despite the small jumps in success that the game brings they just aren't making enough revenue to tackle the problem adequately, If I had to make a guess, banned players make up a decent part of this games economic benefit as well given how many alt accounts smurfs and cheaters tend to amass. The blatant cheaters on US EAST past 10-11pm are nuts. The aforementioned complexity issue plays a big part in the allure of cheating and exploitation in this title. The bragging rights of soft cheaters and the sheer enjoyment blatant hackers get out of ruining the good time of hard-playing hunters is just all amplified in value. The game has so many variables to consider that it's made moderating their own game nearly impossible without kernel-level security intrusions and a dedicated security staff.
Boring Over Time: Hunt is not sustainable with inflating the weapon pool aimlessly as well as reskinning token totems. Hunt needs to evolve past reskinning existing elements and it needs to happen soon. Perk variety only lasts so long when theyre mostly taken away post-event. The event also takes away the vitality of the bayou once it's gone as everyone returns to the conservative and boring gameplay it so rewards when nothing else is on the line. We are not strangers to the concept that introducing new monsters and elements are costly and time-consuming, but the endless juggle of new skins and firearms doesn't do much to amplify the rest of the bayou's elements.
Player Punishment: The game's PvE has increasingly leaned toward being very annoying and not enjoyable. Hive's will gain aggression further than they ever should, their flies will chase you swiftly and for ridiculous distances. Meatheads will aggro you with accurate pathing with no poison stacks or sound to clue them in, just for the sake of harassing you. Basic zombies can outpace you sometimes and do JUST enough damage to punish you for owning small bars ALL THE TIME. This isn't inherently an issue but the game is nickel and diming you for everything down to the smallest jumps and drops. While the game should reward intelligent pathing and clever positioning, we shouldnt have to fight the map itself for every possible inch of ground we get. There's also something to be said about the nonsense and utterly intrusive feature that AI will "coincidentally" path toward you the longer you sit in one place after making one sound queue locally. Even when completely still and not within detection they drift ever so close to you inch by inch to reveal your position. This is a bad feature and it needs to go, either aggro my hunter or dont. Don't slowly punish me when I'm trying to solidify a post, that's what the game is trying to get me to do most of the time. Pick a lane, do I take up a camping spot or not? If this is the way the game punishes camping after a minute error, it needs to be far more frequent and far more reliable to judge.
Hellhounds/Mastiffs: Why is it so annoying to hit them when they do a retreating leap and lunge? Do they have i-frames or something depending on the animation? It's very annoying to take a risk and have multiple whiffs when my hands and weapons are going THROUGH their model. This has been broken the entirety of my play time on the game and it's annoying.
The Artistic Statement: Crytek has struck something special, an unforgettable impression left on the west / occult west genre globally. I feel like the company doesn't know what to do with it but their social media presence is not just weak but very quiet. I think this has something to do with the player base and their tendency to harass them, which who can blame them. This game has an unforgettable cast of artists, character designers, composers and singers. This love, talent, skill and universe will be wasted if it exists solely as a niche PvP game. Crytek, EXPAND THE BRAND! I don't care if "normies" flock to the title, we want some more media to consume and respite from the base game itself. Animations? Comics? Novels? Merchandise? Man we have so many people that want a PvE title of some kind, please stop squandering this golden opportunity. You guys are behaving like indie developers when you have a heavy underground presence to brandish at the nerd world at large. Give us more Hunt, many of us want to participate in your world without having to engage with the PvP and it's more toxic players. Please upload all of your music to Youtube, stop hiding the comments and get more proactive about the fan scene. A lot of us want to bite what's on the line as long as you put something GOOD on it.
Occult Elements: This game has been grounded for too long and needs to let the occult elements of it's setting actually seep into the gameplay. This is a fantasy western horror setting, please don't limit yourself to zombies and glorified hp sponges boxed inside of enclosed spaces. Evolve the game's identity into the powers and dark themes PLEASE!
The Community: This community has inherited all the unfortunate and disgusting facets of niche games and their fans. Actively waving away newcomers with their crappy attitudes and hostile behavior is not a good way to make any impression in a game that's only one bad year away from biting the dust. The constant seniority wars and bickering about things not needing to be changed is ghastly. You guys need to shut up, truly. Constructive feedback is great but when you devolve into "back in my day" and "unless you played 4000 hours you know nothing" I have zero shits to give about anything you say regarding the state of the game.
Not only are they a problem there's an undercurrent of elitists and "clan" players that love to ruin the fun of casuals or drag them into petty behavior across the matches due to their grudges against staff or other players. Stop, stop being actual manchildren.
To the yeehaw posters and cowboy photoshoppers? You guys are better than any whiney douchebag who points and says "low effort post" as if they're the arbiter of what's worth looking at here. I love the dumb memes, they're much needed to contrast the aforementioned jerks. To the artistic community, fanartists and cosplayers abroad? You're awesome and nothing short of some of the most brilliant fan content makers on the scene. You guys rock, all of you. Yeehaw posters and artists should keep this community ALIVE.
Staff-Community Relations: It's rough when the game has gone to such a state that the staff must have a tenuous relationship with the community to the point of hostility sometimes. Imagine needing to be so separate from a fanbase that they have to keep you all at arm's reach to have some semblance of comfort doing their job. They aren't blameless, but the relationship with us and Crytek is not healthy or kind. At the same time, Crytek have left too much in the dark regarding the game's future prospects and it's quality of life issues. Communication has to improve and stop being so vague.
Quitting Hunt: I'm quitting the game namely because I'm not having fun anymore. I have to question if a third of my deaths are even legit now due to suspicious circumstances and the state of the cheating issues across all first person shooters. This game is hard work if youre not putting your boots on every day for the bayou, and it's apparent that the game doesn't welcome players who can't commit that kind of time to stay oiled. I love the character models, the gunplay and maps. It's a sore thing to admit to yourself when a game just can't hold you anymore for a variety of reasons. I will still be looking onto Hunt for it's music, art and lore as I always have but I think I will retire to being a Hunt fan artist! Drawing Hunt and immersing in the lore is way more fun than the game right now, so that will be a better use of my time within the fandom.
I do not encourage other people quit the game even if you share my grievances as Crytek need the support, but please try to vocalize your issues better to them in the future. Do not tolerate the attitude around exploitation and elitism!
