I don’t know what kind of RN I want to be, but I have interest in palliative care and hospice. School nursing, aesthetics, doctor’s offices, and something like endoscopy catch my attention as well.
Initially, my plan was to work in a med-surg unit for 1-2 years after graduation to 1) gain the most variety of experience to explore what I like, and 2) become proficient in my skills. However, I do not enjoy working bedside in the hospital. I prefer something more predictable and follows a routine.
I want to explore my options for non-bedside jobs suitable for a new grad prior to committing to a job that I am unhappy with. If you worked non-bedside as a new grad, what was your role, and how did it work out for you?

Hey everybody, I didn’t know exactly where to post this but I figured this would be the best place to get answers. So I’m getting a refund from my school and bank mobile is the institution handling it (they do not have a Reddit page as I’ve seen) and I received this following email from them. “Your funds have been released by your school and are now pending. We process pending funds on business days. Once your funds are processed you will receive the ACH in 1-2 business days depending on the policies of your bank.”
I was wondering if this means the refund has been processed and they have sent it to my bank account, or is it still being processed until I would then receive another email?
Nobody has given me a solid answer, just a run around of me getting the money eventually but not answering my question, so thank you to anyone who tries to help me understand as I am a first time college student :)

2024.05.21 23:19 BiggsFaleur Seeking Feedback on My First EVO Trip Plan (2024)

I am planning a trip to go to my first EVO (or any major, for that matter) this year and I was wondering if you guys would be willing to look over my plan and let me know if I'm missing anything major or have any major mistakes. I am not planning on competing but intend to play casuals and spectate.
I'm also not very aware of how long people spend at the venue, how early people get there, how late they stay, etc. If any of my plans seem out of touch with the event, that is why haha.
Main games I want to spectate: SF6, T8, Strive. I'll def watch others but those are what I am most interested in. So basic of me.
Side Note: My wife is coming along for the trip but is going to spend most of the time by the pool. She said she's interested in watching some Sunday events but doesn't to spend all weekend in the convention center (can you believe that!)? This somewhat affects where we are planning to stay. We're both over 21. I've also established that this is more of a "me" trip, but I'm not going to leave her alone for the weekend haha.
Dates:
Arrive morning of Sat. July 20, depart Mon. July 22. I can only dedicate one day of PTO so I figured it would be better to be there for Sunday and miss Friday. Monday will be a dud of a day but missing the Top 8's for the big 3 sounds sad.
Hotel:
Looking between Venetian and Resorts World. RW is a bit closer but my wife likes the Venetian more (probably do Venetian, I want my wife to have a good time so she wants to come back next year). Neither of us care about gambling so the quality of the tables doesn't matter to us. She doesn't want to stay in the Westgate which I can accept.
Overall Plans:
General Questions:
  1. Are people supposed to (or even allowed to) bring setups to the venue for casuals? Is there usually a shortage of setups or are they relatively abundant?
    1. I am making a small form factor PC to use as a portable setup to bring to my friends' houses. Could I bring this and a travel monitor and host my own at the venue?
  2. Are there any pieces of equipment that I might need that I might not think about?
    1. I have a "custom" hitbox it's a cardboard box with a Brooks UFB. I don't have the PS5 upgrade yet but I plan to get it.
    2. Deodorant will be brought.
  3. How early does one need to get there on Sunday for a decent seat? Is there usually a big line before opening and a mad dash to get front row seats kinda vibe, or is it more that people gradually fill in over the course of an hour or so? I don't need front row, but I'd at least like a decent seat if possible. I assume you can move up during the course of the day as people move around/leave.
    1. If my wife joins at like 5pm, will it be feasible to get her a seat? I obvs won't hold a seat for her all day or anything. I'm picturing a situation like at a concert/festival where if you're in the front of the floor and leave you're never getting back haha.
  4. Is it better to be there for Friday-Sunday and miss the Top 8's to catch a flight home Sunday evening? Or skip Friday and have all of Sunday?
Any other advice is very welcome (I'll drink plenty of water and won't be a dick, as these are the most recommended tips on other similar posts). I watched videos from Brian F and Sajam and read previous posts so I'm not going in totally blind, but that can only get you so far.
I don't need a perfect trip, but I just don't want to be behind the ball all trip because my planning sucked.

Rant/Rave
I know people post all the time about failed relationships but I’m so mad. I just broke up with my (24f) boyfriend (23m) because he just ‘realized’ he wants kids. Be so for real. I said within the first week we met as friends I wasn’t doing that. I reminded him all throughout the relationship. Then he goes a stones throw away from radio silence and I can tell something is off. He’d barely said 50 words to me this past week blaming it on school, stress etc.
When he said we should call and talk, I asked: 1. Did you cheat 2. Did you change your mind about kids
I believe him when he said he didn’t cheat, he’s just not that type of person. I finally cornered him and said look, it’s a yes or a no (for number 2). He refuses to answer me and kept asking to call, and hhhhh I got so mad. Basically he’d just ‘realized’ he wants kids, and I ate this man alive. I thought to myself you know what I’m gonna get the closure I need because I’ll regret not finally exhaling and calling him on his shit as opposed to taking the hIgH RoAD. He always treated me right, that’s a non-issue. He was always kind and patient and understanding. But apparently he was sitting here with his thumb up his ass waiting for me to realize ‘love would be enough’ (that was my perspective on the issue, not his words).
I honestly told him he is a coward. This is where everybody points and laughs because I’d already left him once over this issue. He freaked out and said he said the wrong thing, I was all he needed (insert belly laugh). I had the balls to say damn this sucks and ripped the bandaid off the first time. I had to do it again this time, because he couldn’t give me a straight answer- no doubt out of fear. I said I don’t wish you ill(?) but I sure as shit don’t wish you well, so fuck you lol. I’m allowed to be angry about him not knowing his head from his ass where this is concerned and I dodged a serious bullet.
I meant it when I told him you won’t catch me boohooing about this, because I genuinely suspect I grieved this relationship a long time ago and I should’ve trusted my gut. I have zero intentions of getting into another relationship until my tubes have been scooped out and tossed. I actually feel a lot lighter and I just wanted to share lol. I normally see posts about people who seem really sad about a relationship that essentially led them on (I completely understand). But I wanted to show this amazing community a pissed/happy post on leaving scummy ass people who are willing to sink years into people they have every intention of dropping after finding the bravery to be honest🔪I told him I don’t love ANYONE enough to do that to my body and my life.
I will celebrate. I will effortlessly sink back into my bog witch tendencies. I will dust off the single bitch section of my closet. I will focus on my studies. I will stop being lazy and find someone to perform a bisalp.

Just some background
34 year old active duty military dentist. This July will be my 6th year being active ever since graduating dental school. I did a 4 year scholarship and initially just wanted to pay back my obligation and separate in 2022. However, I decided to stay in (likely till I hit 20). I opted for BRS as opposed to High 3(a mistake now since I am staying in). Also, I never contributed to my TSP for 4 years(just started 2 years ago to get the full match) since I wanted to accumulate cash to pay down for a house(no longer happening obviously since I'll be moving around). This feels like a double whammy for me.
Anyways I have 25k in my TSP so far(2 years of 5% contribution per month). About 250k in cash, 100k in stocks, 10k in checking. I am able to draw pension in 2034 just after 16 years of active service since my 4 years in school counted towards pay/retirement. I am likely gonna retire as O-5(maybe O-6).
I also made some unwise financial decision such as buying a luxury car(I no longer drive it and gave it to my mom) for 40k in cash, not investing early(gambling a bit but no heavy losses), etc.
I just feel like crap and can't stop thinking that I'd be at around 600k now if I didn't do these stupid mistakes...

Hello, everyone. How are you doing?
Around the time of the announcement of Bokuben' multiple routes, specifically the time around the 3rd route, I've been elaborating a way to reveal the what I believe to be the greatest secret this manga holds. No, it's not who is best girl, or the one true route, or how the girls' stories have parallels with certain fairy tale characters. It's actually the greatest achievement when it comes to hidden aspects that I've ever seen a manga pull off, done in such a way that pretty much nobody has talked about it, to my limited knowledge.
The greatest secret contained in this manga is how every single one of its elements has some parallel to the TAROT. No other manga I've read contains so much inspiration hidden in plain sight as this one.
Number of volumes, symbolism, character traits and interactions, plot progression, route themes, character birthdays, years it was serialized in (2017 to 2021), pretty much everything can be linked in some way to the Tarot. It's so beautiful I laughed like never before when I connected the dots. The hint was the Rizu color page during her route, showing the moon, and her route being the 18th volume. From there, my overthinking brain went into overdrive, and I had an epiphany. For example, did you know the hamster on the cover of volume 9 is named HAMI-chan, which is a reference to HAAMITO (Hermit), the 9th arcana, which is represented by Sawako, whose birthday is on August 3rd (8 = HA, 3 = MI)? That kind of connection is everywhere. Like, volume covers, we have:
How about the first 22-23 chapters? Each one has some relation to the major arcana, in order.
Also, so many small elements on each cover relating to its respective arcana, like the stuff characters are holding (Fumino on vol 1, Rizu on vol 2, etc). The first (Star) and last (World) routes being depicted on the cover of volume 10 (Wheel), possessing a symbolic connection to the "mermaid" when it comes to the Tarot and alchemy, Alchemy itself having the Rizu and Sawako duo represent it (Rizu = psychology, Sawako = chemistry), Nariyuki (Fool) only appearing in person starting from the 4th volume cover, volume 7 (Chariot) having a scooter, and so, so much more.
Don't think the minor arcana were forgotten, either. Each route has some relation to it (Fumino = Pentacles, Rizu = Cups, Asumi = Swords/Scalpels?, Uruka = Wands/Brooms?, Mafuyu = little bit of each), and there are nods on vol 14 (Rizu with a golden ball, representing a pentacle, Fumino's minor arcana) and vol 11 (Fumino holding a cup, Rizu's minor arcana) to them as well.
Unfortunately, due to personal circumstances, I probably won't be able to finish compiling everything I've gathered into a cohesive file like "Of Ribbons and Lies", so I leave here the notes I did write down. At the very least, I wanted to be the one who tells everybody about the thing that brought me the greatest joy in my life.
Finally, if there's one thing I could ask for, it'd be for Rizu's birthday to be revealed as the same as mine, February 6th. Not only does it relate to her Tarot aspect, it's also the day the first chapter officially came out.

2024.05.21 23:18 burneracc4422 is it too late to push for a 36?

I just finished up my junior year of highschool and am now going into senior year. I would really like to go to the University of Tennessee, however, I know it's a bit of a hard school to get into right now, not to mention I'd really like to save money as well. I've taken the test 2 times, one of computer and one on paper. I got a 22 on my online test (unpopular opinion at least to my peers but I loved testing online, I hate that I live in such a small area because I can only test on paper unless I want to travel 3 hours :/), but kinda shit myself on my second test and got a 21😭. I'm very successful in English, benchmarked in science, was one away from benchmarking in reading, but cannot for the life of me do well in math. Obviously, I should just stay aiming for a 26-28 right now just to get into my school, but I'm looking at the financial benefits of scoring 30+ and I really want to push myself more (also so many of you make getting a 36 look so easy, I know it's not of course, but wow, congratulations to y'all !). Is it too late to want that number since I only have 4 tests until I apply for college? If it isn't should I just stay in all summer and study my ass off?

Hi, so i’m currently finishing my junior year of high school and plan on going onto college for a healthcare major. Recently I learned about a summer EMT program at my local EMS station and thought it would be great opportunity both for experience and college applications especially because it is something I have considered pursuing jn the past. One issue; the EMT class runs throughout pre-selected days during the summer and one of those days is the same day as my June 1st SAT. Im contemplating canceling my test and pushing it to the next date (august 24th) which would give me more time to study but then I would get by scores back a month after most college applications open. I should note that I have already taken the SAT this past march and achieved a 1200. To many this score would be fine but as someone who fcked up their GPA freshman year (2.9 after Junior year) I was hoping for a high SAT score to improve my application. Now I’m unsure on if I should rethink the EMT class and keep my SAT date for June or reschedule my SAT test to late august and follow through with the EMT course.

2024.05.21 23:17 FrostingWilling7139 Help! Hydro jetting or new system?

Hi everyone. I have a 2 bed 1.5 bath house with a 42 yr old septic system with a sand filter. About 3 years ago we noticed a soft spot at what we believe to be the end of one leach line; however, it has not gotten bigger or changed at all in 3 years. We got the tank pumped in January as routine maintenance and the company said there was evidence of high water at one point but looked overall healthy and “should last a long time.” The tank and dbox are concrete. Then 5 months later in May, we are noticing foul smelling water pooling over the tank lid after we use the washing machine. We called the company and they came back out and pumped again and put a camera in to see the dbox. They basically said they couldn’t tell what was going on so we dug the dbox up and opened it. Totally full of brown water. They are telling us we have two options: total system replacement at $26k or trying to hydro jet it but that has a 50/50 shot of extending the life. $26k is a ton of money and not something we expected to spend right now. Does anyone have more info on hydro jetting and the actual possibility it could help for a couple years? Or any other thoughts?! For reference, we are in central NY. Thank you SO much in advance, as this is all new to us first time homeowners.
I also don’t think we’d be eligible for any grants bc we are above the low income line, though still very much not rich ;).

Second month in a row she spends 70-85$ for someone’s birthday gift (Aviator Nation, Sephora, etc.) and basically left “broke”. I feel bad for her, summer is almost here and I remember having great time grabbing slice of pizza or ice cream after school with friends. Or just spending on smaller “longer lasting” things.

2024.05.21 23:16 delliamcool Debating what I should do about school next semester: I could either go to a second community college, or transfer to a university. Looking for advice

I am a community college student in Michigan. As of last week I am in my fourth semester at my school. There are still two more courses I could take at community college that count towards my intended major (elementary education) before transferring and I’d really like to take as many credits at CC as possible to save as much money as possible. These classes are Intro to Education and Math for Elementary School Teachers 2.
However right now I attend a urban community college district with 5 different campuses all across my city, and the only time they are offering intro to education in the fall is Tuesday/Thursday mornings at the campus furthest away from where I live/work (like 30+ minutes), and I work full time as a nanny from 8 AM-4PM every weekday and have been taking night classes and weekend classes so that time really doesn’t work for me. They’re also only offering math for elementary school teachers 2 online and I know myself and taking a math class online would be a disaster so that’s really not ideal either.
There’s another community college in a suburb like 15 minutes away from my apartment that’s in the same county I live in so I’d still be in district for financial aid, and they have many more class slots and times that I can make work into my schedule much easier. Is it possible to transfer to the different community college just for one last semester to take two classes and a couple electives so I can have full time status for financial aid and is it with doing so? Should I look at just transferring to a local university without having taken those two credits and take them at the university ? I’m reliant on financial aid, I’m a Pell grant recipient and I could not go to school without it so I really don’t want to do anything that would mess that up. Thank you in advance for any advice!

Ive called their main line which takes me to offshore customer service and these agents are crappy to put it lightly. They are unable to answer any questions and Im tired of going around in circles.
Ive got $10K sitting there ready to invest which is part of a tax deduction. Does anyone know if there is 1) US based onshore customer service number and 2) if Im able to switch funds to a different HsA company and if so which is better?

Hi FIRE community, long time lurker here. I am 28 and starting my FIRE journey later, and am having trouble finding a community of people (both virtual and online) who have the same mindset or are in the same phase as me.
I am working 2 jobs in the service industry while going back to school to switch careers to increase my income. The rest of my time not spent working is in the gym or doing school. Honestly, it gets lonely sometimes. The friends I made when I was younger only ever want to party or grab drinks. I know they say your new life will cost you your old one, but how can I find people who want to work in cafes together, swap business ideas, or celebrate milestones in the the journey to financial independence together? I don’t want to surround myself with people who don’t have the right money mindset anymore.
Other women my age that I know are much further along in their journey than me or are focused on marriages/children.

I've been struggling for like 2 years with my 90 year old mother increasingly credulous of scammers as she loses her cognition. There was $17k taken from her checking acct by ACH this month! She totally believes these people who call to tell her she's won millions. And they sell lists of the impaired seniors to each other. I found the answer in another thread here, bought and installed the unit and got her number ported. I'm so thrilled I felt I should bump and share this idea once more!
I've had an Ooma VOIP line for many years and I knew it had good junk call blocking, but I never realized it had call 'white-listing' as well. It's super simple to upload their contacts from their cellphone to Ooma, and set it to send any call not on the list to voicemail, which shows up as an email to me. It was ported yesterday, and today she commented there were no junk calls!
Cost: $16/month, the unit cost me $45 on Amazon. Result: Bliss. Elder care is hard enough without this phone nonsense. Now to see if Comcast reduces their absurd bill at all when I cancel the voice service. I bet not, those guys are "heads we win, tails you lose".

2024.05.21 23:14 doedobrd How to fix my CustomTkinter YT downloader .exe file

I made a small project using CustomTkinter and Pytube to download YouTube videos with a simple GUI.
the program has zero errors when run as a .py file in the IDE and Windows if I double-click or use the terminal.
I then proceeded to use auto-py-to-exe to convert the file into a .exe file. I followed the instructions on the CustomTkinter website and although I had some trouble I managed to get through the process.
the final .exe file, however, does run but only for a moment before closing itself again. By running the .exe from a cmd terminal based in the directory of the file I was able to get an error message:
