Today’s one page challenge is for The City in the Clouds by J.B. Williams. Finally, a requested challenge, rather than the usual cycle of me finding a story and the person being triggered that I did so. At 234 pages and a whopping price tag of $20.99 for a paperback, it’s a wonder why it looks untouched. Flip some burgers for an hour to pay for this… whatever it is. I was told the editor is good, so let’s see how he gummed up the works.
The rules of the one page challenge are simple: I go through the first page of the book(about 300 words or 3 paragraphs) and say where the average reader would stop. These reviews are short, sweet, and to the point (unlike most of these books). The main things we look for are things like tension, a hint at the plot existing, good feng shui, a feeling like the blurb is accurate, a lack of obfuscation, and the story fulfilling its role as a story. As we go along, I’ll explain why readers love or hate certain elements and we’ll see what straws break the camel’s back.
The title, The City in the Clouds, makes me think of fantasy, but it’s meant to be sci-fi. Clouds symbolize knowledge beyond our reach or something like daydreaming, treated as water in air(mystery in knowledge). Saying the title this way makes it seem like the focus is the city itself, which would be cool if it was something like a dystopian or utopian story. Maybe a tech noir or detective story, but… it’s not. This story is actually about a woman, and it’s a comedy, completely conflicting with the genre in two ways.
I didn’t want to say this but Huston… we’re already having problems.
The ebook cover is a drawing of curly haired woman staring at the camera like she’s constipated, while the paperback version is of an anime girl holding a gun and looking like she has diarrhea. Both versions have her in a suit, with a giant gas planet behind her. Both have similar fonts for the title and name, but the ebook version is so blurred and darkened that it reads like a secret message; the physical version being slightly less blurry. If I saw this on a shelf, I wouldn’t recognize this as a book or know what it was called. I find it strange because the back of the book is very clear, given a blue box for clarity, and has a sun with a red sky that would have made more sense than these frumpy women.
I guess the title and name are made illegible because we’re supposed to zoom our eyes straight to the blurb:
At this point, the average reader would probably not give it a shot, unless the idea of pirates and an ironic Die Hard premise is their cup of tea.
No prologue, no maps, no glossary, just a simple chapter 1 to greet us. Ok, I’m liking this already. I know this is a small thing, but the simplicity of just starting a story is a blessing that should be the norm, and isn’t. I haven’t read a single word and this is already the best OPC so far. Yes, it’s that easy.
Don’t ruin the experience with all your fancy try-hard nonsense and the reader will be in hog heaven.
We are told the planet, sector, system, and date. Very effective in establishing the sci-fi element in this single aside, which also lets us know it’s 400 years in the future. The planet is named Andromeda, which is a well known galaxy, so if this is in that galaxy, I assume it’s going for a “New York, New York” type of gag. The editor did a good job, with the first page establishing a scene in a restaurant. What he messed up on was… everything that’s not the scene itself, which makes up 90% of the words.
The protagonist, Robin Alia Brook has her day off described as “shot in the face”, being delivered in present tense and this has it come out awkwardly. I say this because the second sentence is past tense, then it shifts back to present, back to past. This is why people stick with past tense to avoid the headache, and present tense is now used as a hipster novelty to act as if things are more important because they’re happening as they’re written. Most readers just find it as a distraction and it causes something niche to become more niche in the process. The first paragraph ends with us being told that she’s in a restaurant that is 500 feet under the sea, of a planet called Andromeda.
She is to be dining, but she is NOT dining because her date didn’t show. Cue the audience gasping, because this is a travesty. The part that really kills this opening is the sentence “She is currently obtaining nutrients through Poseidon's generous supply of free lemons water and cheesy garlic biscuits.” This was the perfect chance for worldbuilding, to express something futuristic and fresh. Instead, it tied itself to Earth, talked about mundane food like lemon water, and it didn’t use any of these for a punchline.
This is meant to be a comedy, but is absent of comedy. We don’t need a bunch of humor in the first paragraph, but we do expect a comedy to present a tone that can lead to humor occurring. Every scene for a comedy is a setup for gags and punchlines. Much like horror, the scene is built around the mood, which is brought to a peak around half way. The introduction of a comedy book is going to hold a joke in relation to the entire book.
I believe the blurb when it says this Robin character can kill things by accident, because this book dies right after she’s introduced, around the second paragraph. The third paragraph changes the subject to be about other people in the restaurant, acting as a distraction that leads to infodumps of Robin’s outfit and such. I understand that the “joke” is that this woman is stood up on her date and we are to feel her anguish, but the reader shouldn’t be suffering through the opening this soon. Starting here is either far too late or far too soon. If anything, this is something I expect in chapter 2 or something we hear about as she’s on her way to Bellona.
A good way to put it is that this scene is a non-sequitur done in order to give fashion statements, with the important exposition ignored for window dressing.
The average reader needs tension to get sunk into a sci-fi story, because this is a planet we don’t know about with a character we’ve never seen before. What is the point of having this restaurant so deep underwater? There is a city underwater? She has a job, but where does she work? At the Krusty Krab?
Non-sequitur is a distraction that removes us from the scene and the plot to explain things that don’t serve a purpose to either. If I changed the first sentence to only hold what was part of the scene, it would be the characters name and nothing more. To strengthen an opening like this, we would have to set it up for a punchline, reinforce the sardonic tone, and tie the scene with the situation. The first sentence would go like:
For a story like this, the rejection comes from a lack of being straightforward. We can always fix up a sentence and how it sounds, but this doesn’t mean much when the bones are disjointed. Thankfully, for this one, a lot of readers are used to openings like this from online serials, so there is hope that a lot of it will get a pass. It’s that first hump that it has to get over in order to shine. Sadly, for little Robin, that hump was not achieved, so her journey through the city in the cloud might as well not exist.

Robin Alia Brook is considered a loser. She works at customer service for one of the largest companies in humanity's interstellar empire, gets stood up on dates, and accidentally kills people. Then when her ex-online boyfriend gives her the winning vacation lottery ticket to the famed habitat, The City of Clouds, she reluctantly accepts it.Slight grammar issues here and there, but most wouldn’t notice that “ex-online boyfriend” would mean the boyfriend was online and not anymore. The delivery is a little bouncy, almost appropriate, but doesn’t give much tone from how much info it tries to cram in. Something I noticed is that very little sci-fi is mentioned, with the only thing giving a sci-fi vibe being the idea of traveling to another planet. If this was a vacation to an island, very little would change from how it’s described. Like the title and name on the cover, a lot of what makes this book a book is hidden from us, in plain sight.
Upon arrival, she is greeted by the massive, beautiful gas giant Bellona, and all the glamour and prospects of expansion for the famous habitat. And it is the beginning of a celebration, too! For the election of the new habitat captain! But the celebration and vacation are ruined when pirates attack, seeking the captain's riches.
They are ruthless, they are bloodthirsty, and they won't stop until they get what they want. Unfortunately for the pirates, Robin is really good at accidentally killing people, and with her is a rag tag team of a pilot recruit, an egotistical journalist, a veteran photographer, and the captain himself.
It will be a long battle for The City of Clouds, and the outcome is unknown, but one thing is certain... This is the worst vacation ever.

Five hundred feet below the sea’s surface, Robin could not stop drinking.This will give the impression that she’s getting drunk, while attaching her drinking to the sea outside, giving the impression that she’s drowning. But even then, I wouldn’t start here, I would begin with a comedic amount of assurance that she’s going to have her date show up, then the next scene is her waiting with this. That, or I would have her doing the walk of shame, allowing the plot to begin sooner when she gets her golden ticket, which would be like:
The ocean floor outside was slowly swallowed by darkness as the elevator pod took Robin away from Poseidon.Here, we have a moment for her to think back to the situation, and the word “darkness” gives hint to her current feeling about the restaurant. This is a setup for the punchline that follows, already skipping the failed date and able to move forward to the poster she sees in the elevator. Movies tend to do this type of exposition with the main character telling the situation to another person, who is helpless to escape. That can add more humor and make the main character express their personality quirks. The goal is for less opening to be used up for non-sequitur and to focus it on moving forward in relation to the plot.

Idk what I am doing wrong, but im trying to write 1.2 and when it changes from handwriting to font i just keeps correcting to “12” instead of “1.2” also as a side note how do i start on the next line so like “enter” but without out the key obviously.

i downloaded a collection of songs from an spanish speaking album on soundcloud during 2020 and from what i remember the songs were also released in 2020.
heres the song album order (this is from memory, so the order might be wrong!)

I am very new to WordPress and have just launched my first site using the platform a few days ago. I have been using a purchased custom theme and styling the pre-existing components within it to create the website so far, but I have encountered an issue.
The element at the top of my homepage uses a static image as the background. The image has a "light" side and a "dark" side where the left side of the image is an empty white space and the right side of the image is a person. I currently have two columns set up in a 1/4 - 3/4 ratio so that the text I display over the image appears in the white space with black font. This is fine for the desktop view. My issue is that the mobile view of the page displays the text over top the middle of the image which is a dark portion of the background image and the text is no longer easily readable (black text on dark background).
The header component does not seem to have options for specifically mobile view text color.
My question is basically to ask if anyone has recommendations for methods to go about fixing this?
I would be happy if I were able to disable the background image in mobile view, but I do not see how to do that. The optimal solution would obviously be to somehow add mobile responsiveness to the text displaying component using some sort of screen width identifier, but I do not know how to add custom CSS to the existing components.
I've also heard that making entirely new components would be somehow possible, but I am currently unsure of how to do that either.
This question is more general and directed at advice regarding solving this specific issue as well as perhaps suggestions involving the general troubleshooting process for the future when trying to make changes that don't seem immediately supported by existing WordPress components.

Hey y’all, I picked up a Qui-Gon Jinn and Kestis Fallen Order hilt from TXQ recently, wanting to finally upgrade from my Xeno2 hilt. Overall impressions are very positive. I’ve always been a little apprehensive about trying out Proffie: I’m pretty tech savvy but there’s still a learning curve to get adapted to. I have no doubt I’ll eventually take the plunge, but for now I had one mission: get a good hilt at a good price and have a pretty customizable option.
So am I happy with SNV4?
Yeah, I love this thing. The app is very functional and usable. Yeah, I love this thing. The app is very functional and usable. The learning curve was very soft and anyone who is willing to put in an hour of effort with FrugalJedi on YouTube can figure out how to make it all work. The blade effects you can get are very impressive, and I’ve experienced only the occasional jitter from sound effects that were fixed by a quick shut down. The smooth swing algo needs work, but it seems better than it was originally.
Here’s some tips that will save you some serious time:
- Do not even attempt to connect to the app without doing the firmware update. Find them from FrugalJedi on YouTube or from the link in point 3. Once you do that, you won’t ever have an issue connecting, or at least I haven’t. Connection is rock solid and my edits always send.
- SNV4 does take Proffie fonts, but some are more problematic than others. Kyberphonic, KSith, and Jaydalorian loaded immediately with no problems. BK Saber Sounds was tricky and took me a solid 2 hours to figure out: the high quality wav formats will not be read by the saber stock. This is something to do with being in a mono 32bit encode when it should be a 16bit - EDIT some wrong info here. Solution is the same as follows below, but the problem is detailed further in the comments below.

Unfortunately m8r98a4f2 is MIA, and his phenomenally excellent StarUI series of mods are stuck in limbo.

I've done a *little* poking around, and I'm absolutely amazed by how clever the StarUI mod is.
It doesn't "cheat" at all, as far as the system is concerned, because it replaces the animation files (.swf) that drive the menus -- no console commands or anything -- clever as hell!
I was able to use JPEXS Free Flash Decompiler to look through the mod (still haven't figured out everything I did to get to that point -- I was throwing a font error originally)
I don't know how to fix the HUD (yet) but I have some idea on the Shipbuilder:
There seem to be three areas of the ActionScripts:
ShipPartData - Seems to be a library mapping FormID's to their relevant Hull/Mass/PoweDamage etc...
ShipPartInfoFetcher and ShipVariantInfoFetcher LOOK like they might feed this ShipPartData construct, but I haven't poked through to see everything that's happening.
MAYBE this is enough for some of you out there who do this stuff regularly to go "oh heck yeah, I can fix this in 10 minutes!!"
But I don't have any experience editing SWF's and my JPEXS is crashing (can it even upload changes back??)
Any insight from y'all on 1) -- is m8r ok?? and 2) how do we carry this on if they've decided to move on? Anyone with the SWF background that would consider describing how they'd go about applying the fix?
Basics that I could think of:
How do we get the FormID's for all the new habs? -- This seems to be the only part that's really breaking.
I would suggest that ShipPartInfoFetcher at least is working (mostly) -- as the mod works with DerreTech and Darkstar Astrodynamics, and it does well with variants from Darkstar -- so the ability to dynamically get the info without the formid's all prepopulated into ShipPartData has to be at least partially working, unless I completely understand how those two built their parts.
There's PROBABLY a flag in the empty habs that needs to be accounted for (BGS could've done something like create a new variant on the parent formid that can only differentiate itself with this new flag??) which would suggest that the ShipVariantInfoFetcher is where we need the most attention.
How would you go about debugging this? What can you do to get verbose/debug logs out of the SWF?
How would you update the SWF with the modified ActionScripts?

I'm having issues with Gmail changing the font size of my sent email. When I type an email, it will look uniform in San Serif, Normal size, but when I send it, it shows in a different font sizes in random parts of the email. I have coworkers who have noticed and thought I just had no idea how to format my email.
Why is this happening? How can I fix it?
Additionally, sometimes it will look acceptable/uniform on desktop, but disordered on mobile, and vice versa.

Hi everyone, this is my first time posting anything so please bear with me if I end up going into a lot of side stories!
I (17F, highschool senior) have a best friend (16F, highschool junior), let's call her Annie for the sake of this rant. To give you some sort of backstory, I met Annie when I was in my sophomore year and she was in her freshman year, and we've been very close ever since. I am relatively popular in school and have plenty of friends, and with her being younger than me, I've always treated her as the younger sister I never had. I took her under my wing and made it my duty to make her feel as welcome in my friend group as possible, (it's a friend group of around 7 girls, we are all pretty close), long story short - Annie became a large part of the friend group and she's been hanging out with us for the past two years.
Throughout my sophomore year, Annie and I were attached by the hip, we bonded over the similarity of our up-bringing and our daddy issues. She is basically me in a different font, and I am very thankful to have her as my best friend. We would text everyday and opened up to each other about everything and anything, we always understood one another. We were just THAT duo.
(To be clear, Annie is not my only best friend, my closest friend is a girl we can call Mary, who I met since I joined this school, we have been inseperable since.)
Anyways, jumping to the summer of my sophomore year, I started going through major mental health issues, everything came crashing down on me, I felt suffocated by the amount of people's well-beings I had to prioritize and overall, I was very depressed for the whole summer. I tried to keep this to myself as much as I could, although my friends did notice a very large drop in my energy, specifically Mary and Annie, as I stopped being invested into high school drama, and I avoided long conversations as much as possible. Not to toot my own horn, but I was still a very good friend to each and every one of my friends, as its very important to me to make sure that everyone around me is happy, even though that might affect my own happiness sometimes. (It's a bad habit of mine and I'm working on fixing it).
Once my senior year started, everything went downhill, I became a completely different person and I was no longer in control of my actions. I found myself distancing myself from everyone (I can be rather mean when I'm upset, so I find it better to just shut people out rather than hurting anyone along the way), I stopped reaching out to my friends, I started skipping almost ALL my classes at school, just so I could cry in the bathroom without anyone noticing because I genuinely could not seem to save myself, my grades started dropping (I've always been a straight A student and one of the smartest in my friend group - no matter how much I fuck around in school). Overall, I went from being a girl who loved being surrounded by her friends, to someone who now felt extremely overwhelmed whenever anyone tried to have a conversation with me.
For some background info - I am a relatively tough person, who doesn't show negative emotions often, so this sudden change was a shock to my friends. I made it very clear to all of them that I could not control the way I felt and that I felt horrible for acting the way I was, and that I didn't want to ruin anyone's senior year, so I didn't want anyone to feel intitled to check up on me. At this point, I spent all my lessons and my free time crying in the bathroom stall, and the only people who really knew this were Mary and Annie. They were such good friends throughout the whole phase I was going through and would just let me cry my eyes out into their arms until I felt ready to rejoin the group. I feel very blessed to have such understanding friends and I can not explain how much it meant to me that even after everything, I felt loved by everyone around me even when I found it difficult to love myself.
Anyways, as I mentioned earlier, this caused my grades to drop, which resulted in me getting a B in my math's class first semester results. (My mom's very strict and only ever accepts A's and nothing less). I did get A's in all the other subjects I took but I guess the B just wasn't siting right with my mom. I was grounded, got my phone taken, wasn't allowed to go on social media, wasn't allowed to go out with my friends, and overall just wasn't allowed to have any fun until I proved myself on my next exam, which was a full semester away.
As you can probably guess, this made matters so much worse for me, because my mom thought my friends were a bad influence on me, and couldn't understand the fact that I was severely depressed and it had nothing to do with anyone but me. I found myself falling even deeper into my depression and having to spend the whole of winter break with no outside contact, which meant I spent 3 weeks having no clue what was going on with my friends and just being completely detached from everyone. Things at home were absolute shit and I felt extremely left out with my friends. (I understand its completely no ones fault but my own, I'm just explaining how I felt).
I wasn't allowed to go to my senior prom, all school trips, nor participate in any school events. My mom even threatened to force me to give up my spot on the student council. During this time, I noticed how self centerd Annie was, she constantly boasted about winning prom queen (AT A PROM THAT WASN'T EVEN HERS BTW. WHICH IS CRAZY TO ME), she would send me pictures of her and my friends at prom constantly (this continued for a whole MONTH after prom), and went into full detail about how much fun it was and how I missed out. None of my other friends did this, even the boys had enough decency to refrain from talking about stuff I wasn't included in around me. I understood, however, that Annie was very excited about experiencing prom, and I was very happy for her throughout the whole thing, even though I would reply to most of her texts while I was fully crying because of how alone I felt.
I remember this one time, Annie and three of my other friends went out together a few days after my birthday (which I spent alone, at home), I was by no means jealous, but I obviously still felt left out. I still wanted to be a good friend though so I asked them all privately if they had fun and told them I was really happy that they enjoyed, the 3 friends replied briefly about how it was a nice hangout and that they feel really bad about going out without me, and that they wished I was there, and that was that. But Annie took it upon herself to explain every second of the outing to me and kept sending me pictures and videos of herself and my friends, laughing and having fun. At this point I was completely drained of having to act like I cared and I could no longer put up with this anymore, because yeah. It did genuinely hurt. I became very dry with my replies and Annie had the audacity to ask me why I was being cold and distant, so I explained to her that it does hurt whenever all she talks about is how much fun she's been having AND COMPLAINING ABOUT HOW HER MOM DIDN'T LET HER STAY OUT FOR LONGER. WHEN I HAVENT FUCKING SEEN THE LIGHT OF DAY IN TWO MONTHS AT THAT POINT. Anyways, she said she understood and that she only did that because she wanted me to experience what they were all doing, and she wanted me to feel as if I was there with them. Lame excuse, but I see where she was coming from and told her I appreciated it but I'd rather not know anything about it, because I truly didn't care at that point and only wanted to focus on myself.
However, this behavior continued and all Annie ever talked about was herself, and her issues and how sad and sorry her life was because her and her boyfriend were arguing. Meanwhile, I was trying to find the will to live every single day and I was struggling sm to try and raise my grades so I could at least have some fun during my last semester at high school.
I remember the first couple of days back from winter break, we were at this basketball competition, and it was myself, Annie and Mary there from our friend group. We were siting on the bleachers waiting for our school's turn to compete, and my social battery was completely drained at that point, so I just sat there and listened to everyone converse. Please bear with me while I try to explain how we were siting since this is a very important part of the story. The bleachers consisted of two parts, me and Mary were seated next to each other and I was at the end of the bleacher (Keep in mind the bleacher we were on was PACKED and we were practically squashed on there), while Annie sat in front of us, turned towards us so we could all talk. At some point Annie got up to go to the bathroom and Mary took this as her chance to ask me what had happened with my mom the day before, (Mary knew a bit more than Annie did because I didn't want to bother Annie, since I knew she was experiencing her fair share of family issues as well), I told Mary I didn't really want to go into detail about it right then and there cuz I would probably end up crying infront of everyone, so she shut the conversation down and told me she understood. Annie came back the same time Mary had stopped the conversation and to say she exploded on me was an UNDERSTATEMENT.
She started fully screaming, infront of THE WHOLE BASKETBALL TEAM, AND OUR COACH, about how I was leaving her out, and how I made her sit on a different bleacher, and how I changed so much and I was no longer the old girl I was, and that she felt unloved by me. She went on to say that she understood why I had to distance myself from everyone because no one would even be able to deal with me when I was acting this way, and that she put up with me too much. The cherry on top was when she called me mean and selfish infront of everyone (being called selfish hurts me so badly, because I bend myself backwards trying to make sure that everyone around me is happy, even if I'm going through hell and back myself) so you can understand how much it hurt hearing your best friend shame you infront of everyone.
I'm very bad at communicating and can be VERY mean when I want to, but I really didn't want to hurt Annie's feelings so I just gave her a thumbs up and said "Okay". I'm the type of person who cries when I'm mad so when she sat back down and faced away from us I did start to cry because I just cant control it. When Annie realized I was crying, this woman had the audacity to scream "Why the fuck are you crying now??", this just completely pushed me off the edge so I replied "Can I not fucking cry in peace now??" to which she replied with "Obviously not I don't want to be the reason my best friend is crying.".
Anyways she gave me a half-assed apology, which consisted of her throwing her arm around my shoulder and saying "You know that even when we argue you're still my sister and I love you". And yeah. I did let it slide and I forgave her. But this scenario completely changed my perspective of her and I distanced myself hella and stopped trying to put in effort into our friendship. I stopped opening up to her because I didn't know when else she would use it against me. (We had plenty of other arguments after that one, in which she said I was draining her, and I told her I didn't want to be the reason she feels like she's unable to have fun, so I made the decision to just stop opening up to anyone)

She is basically me in a different font, and I am very thankful to have her as my best friend. We would text everyday and opened up to each other about everything and anything, we always understood one another. We were just THAT duo.
(To be clear, Annie is not my only best friend, my closest friend is a girl we can call Mary, who I met since I joined this school, we have been inseperable since.)
Anyways, jumping to the summer of my sophomore year, I started going through major mental health issues, everything came crashing down on me, I felt suffocated by the amount of people's well-beings I had to prioritize and overall, I was very depressed for the whole summer. I tried to keep this to myself as much as I could, although my friends did notice a very large drop in my energy, specifically Mary and Annie, as I stopped being invested into high school drama, and I avoided long conversations as much as possible. Not to toot my own horn, but I was still a very good friend to each and every one of my friends, as its very important to me to make sure that everyone around me is happy, even though that might affect my own happiness sometimes. (It's a bad habit of mine and I'm working on fixing it).
Once my senior year started, everything went downhill, I became a completely different person and I was no longer in control of my actions. I found myself distancing myself from everyone (I can be rather mean when I'm upset, so I find it better to just shut people out rather than hurting anyone along the way), I stopped reaching out to my friends, I started skipping almost ALL my classes at school, just so I could cry in the bathroom without anyone noticing because I genuinely could not seem to save myself, my grades started dropping (I've always been a straight A student and one of the smartest in my friend group - no matter how much I fuck around in school). Overall, I went from being a girl who loved being surrounded by her friends, to someone who now felt extremely overwhelmed whenever anyone tried to have a conversation with me.
For some background info - I am a relatively tough person, who doesn't show negative emotions often, so this sudden change was a shock to my friends. I made it very clear to all of them that I could not control the way I felt and that I felt horrible for acting the way I was, and that I didn't want to ruin anyone's senior year, so I didn't want anyone to feel intitled to check up on me. At this point, I spent all my lessons and my free time crying in the bathroom stall, and the only people who really knew this were Mary and Annie. They were such good friends throughout the whole phase I was going through and would just let me cry my eyes out into their arms until I felt ready to rejoin the group. I feel very blessed to have such understanding friends and I can not explain how much it meant to me that even after everything, I felt loved by everyone around me even when I found it difficult to love myself.
Anyways, as I mentioned earlier, this caused my grades to drop, which resulted in me getting a B in my math's class first semester results. (My mom's very strict and only ever accepts A's and nothing less). I did get A's in all the other subjects I took but I guess the B just wasn't siting right with my mom. I was grounded, got my phone taken, wasn't allowed to go on social media, wasn't allowed to go out with my friends, and overall just wasn't allowed to have any fun until I proved myself on my next exam, which was a full semester away.
As you can probably guess, this made matters so much worse for me, because my mom thought my friends were a bad influence on me, and couldn't understand the fact that I was severely depressed and it had nothing to do with anyone but me. I found myself falling even deeper into my depression and having to spend the whole of winter break with no outside contact, which meant I spent 3 weeks having no clue what was going on with my friends and just being completely detached from everyone. Things at home were absolute shit and I felt extremely left out with my friends. (I understand its completely no ones fault but my own, I'm just explaining how I felt).
I wasn't allowed to go to my senior prom, all school trips, nor participate in any school events. My mom even threatened to force me to give up my spot on the student council. During this time, I noticed how self centerd Annie was, she constantly boasted about winning prom queen (AT A PROM THAT WASN'T EVEN HERS BTW. WHICH IS CRAZY TO ME), she would send me pictures of her and my friends at prom constantly (this continued for a whole MONTH after prom), and went into full detail about how much fun it was and how I missed out. None of my other friends did this, even the boys had enough decency to refrain from talking about stuff I wasn't included in around me. I understood, however, that Annie was very excited about experiencing prom, and I was very happy for her throughout the whole thing, even though I would reply to most of her texts while I was fully crying because of how alone I felt.
I remember this one time, Annie and three of my other friends went out together a few days after my birthday (which I spent alone, at home), I was by no means jealous, but I obviously still felt left out. I still wanted to be a good friend though so I asked them all privately if they had fun and told them I was really happy that they enjoyed, the 3 friends replied briefly about how it was a nice hangout and that they feel really bad about going out without me, and that they wished I was there, and that was that. But Annie took it upon herself to explain every second of the outing to me and kept sending me pictures and videos of herself and my friends, laughing and having fun. At this point I was completely drained of having to act like I cared and I could no longer put up with this anymore, because yeah. It did genuinely hurt. I became very dry with my replies and Annie had the audacity to ask me why I was being cold and distant, so I explained to her that it does hurt whenever all she talks about is how much fun she's been having AND COMPLAINING ABOUT HOW HER MOM DIDN'T LET HER STAY OUT FOR LONGER. WHEN I HAVENT FUCKING SEEN THE LIGHT OF DAY IN TWO MONTHS AT THAT POINT. Anyways, she said she understood and that she only did that because she wanted me to experience what they were all doing, and she wanted me to feel as if I was there with them. Lame excuse, but I see where she was coming from and told her I appreciated it but I'd rather not know anything about it, because I truly didn't care at that point and only wanted to focus on myself.
However, this behavior continued and all Annie ever talked about was herself, and her issues and how sad and sorry her life was because her and her boyfriend were arguing. Meanwhile, I was trying to find the will to live every single day and I was struggling sm to try and raise my grades so I could at least have some fun during my last semester at high school.
I remember the first couple of days back from winter break, we were at this basketball competition, and it was myself, Annie and Mary there from our friend group. We were siting on the bleachers waiting for our school's turn to compete, and my social battery was completely drained at that point, so I just sat there and listened to everyone converse. Please bear with me while I try to explain how we were siting since this is a very important part of the story. The bleachers consisted of two parts, me and Mary were seated next to each other and I was at the end of the bleacher (Keep in mind the bleacher we were on was PACKED and we were practically squashed on there), while Annie sat in front of us, turned towards us so we could all talk. At some point Annie got up to go to the bathroom and Mary took this as her chance to ask me what had happened with my mom the day before, (Mary knew a bit more than Annie did because I didn't want to bother Annie, since I knew she was experiencing her fair share of family issues as well), I told Mary I didn't really want to go into detail about it right then and there cuz I would probably end up crying infront of everyone, so she shut the conversation down and told me she understood. Annie came back the same time Mary had stopped the conversation and to say she exploded on me was an UNDERSTATEMENT.
She started fully screaming, infront of THE WHOLE BASKETBALL TEAM, AND OUR COACH, about how I was leaving her out, and how I made her sit on a different bleacher, and how I changed so much and I was no longer the old girl I was, and that she felt unloved by me. She went on to say that she understood why I had to distance myself from everyone because no one would even be able to deal with me when I was acting this way, and that she put up with me too much. The cherry on top was when she called me mean and selfish infront of everyone (being called selfish hurts me so badly, because I bend myself backwards trying to make sure that everyone around me is happy, even if I'm going through hell and back myself) so you can understand how much it hurt hearing your best friend shame you infront of everyone.
I'm very bad at communicating and can be VERY mean when I want to, but I really didn't want to hurt Annie's feelings so I just gave her a thumbs up and said "Okay". I'm the type of person who cries when I'm mad so when she sat back down and faced away from us I did start to cry because I just cant control it. When Annie realized I was crying, this woman had the audacity to scream "Why the fuck are you crying now??", this just completely pushed me off the edge so I replied "Can I not fucking cry in peace now??" to which she replied with "Obviously not I don't want to be the reason my best friend is crying.".
Anyways she gave me a half-assed apology, which consisted of her throwing her arm around my shoulder and saying "You know that even when we argue you're still my sister and I love you". And yeah. I did let it slide and I forgave her. But this scenario completely changed my perspective of her and I distanced myself hella and stopped trying to put in effort into our friendship. I stopped opening up to her because I didn't know when else she would use it against me. (We had plenty of other arguments after that one, in which she said I was draining her, and I told her I didn't want to be the reason she feels like she's unable to have fun, so I made the decision to just stop opening up to anyone)
So, people of reddit, am I the asshole for refusing to open up to her anymore, and not putting in anymore effort into our friendship?
(FYI - I still love her with all my heart, and she's always going to be my little sister, and I just want to mention that thankfully I am doing a lot better mentally now, my grades have risen and I hope it continues this way!!)

The topic covered in this post will be as follows:
Okay. Lets get into it. The biggest concern over the information regarding my last post was concerning EXACTLY how much FFIE was being shorted by hedge funds. There is much conflicting information out there and I believe its time to put these rumors to bed. These rumors create fear when not understood. Squeezers ain't got time for fear. For those who don't even understand what this debate is even over, its simple. Some Redditors are stating that we are not even squeezing anybody because hedge funds have already returned their shares (this would be bad for squeezers). However, others have stated that they are now 100% shorting, and are being squeezed harder than ever by you nasty fuckers (this would be good for the squeezers). Confused? I was too. But seeing how we have the internet at our disposal, I skipped my brother's 18th birthday party to bring you the best info I could and not give you whip lash Ape's decision to get banana should be easy So amongst this debate, there's ALOT of screaming, tons of CAPS LOCKS ON FOR SOME REASON, and very little information being given. Even some people straight up telling false information. I'm here to help. The reality is, everyone's posts have hints of truth. So for you, I have written my best version of The truth of short share information/data: Short share information, I've learned, is ONLY available in full every 2 weeks or so. This is mandated by law via the SEC (SEC = the big bad federal government who oversees a so called "fair" market). *Notice the different font and bolded letters for the "in full" part? That'll be important later. Try to file it away for now* For now, lets evaluate the most recent data. It was from 4/30/24, and released in early May. That most recent posting showed a 98% shorted FFIE (VERY GOOD FOR APES). This information can be found: HERE. And just to help you decipher this info: Not only does it show April 30th being shorted 36 million shares, but it also shows a history of it being shorted at this caliber since the start of 2024 (and maybe even earlier in lower amounts) Now. Credit where it is due. Many have been SCREAMING that this could mean we have reached the end of our squeeze. After all, that was 20 days ago. How can you know if the shares are being shorted? Personally, I've questioned them back and said "well if shares are not posted, how do YOU know that they aren't being short squeezed?" (No intelligent answers typically once they realize the flaw in their logic.) Well, even though it's annoying, there is some stock (hahaha, stock, get it?) to what they are saying. Those who are screaming this, are not correct. However, they also aren't wrong. I can't confirm the squeezing of FFIE can't be confirmed with 100% certainty due to the date of publication being 20 days ago (technically). However, the squeezing also cant be denied. So do you all just sit in limbo until Thursday? No I take care of my lil ape buddies. I can teach you to see as I see. But you are not going to like it so hold onto your bananas. I think we need to be able to use logic and reasoning to deduce if FFIE is still being shorted. I KNOW I KNOW. Asking APES to think?? How dare I. Here, eat this, then lets think. Here you go Well there are a few things that we can use to indicate a short is still happening:

I actually didn't verify whether that user who posted that is actually educated, but what he says seems accurate enough for the purpose of this post. I WILL DO A rule 201 post in the future once I understand it a little more. Ill skip my little brother's high school graduation to bring you all that one.
The reality is, the full information regarding the most recent short availability will be made public on Thursday this week. This will give 100% certainty on whether FFIE is being shorted or not. Another reality is, the information above all indicates that FFIE is still being shorted, and being shorted by alot. The questions that need answering are:
WAIT BEFORE YOU GO!!! DID YOU DETECTIVE APES CATCH IT? Remember the bolded and different font i mentioned a few paragraphs up? Did you see me do it again just now? Here's why I drew attention to the "that we do have available" part. Because even though a full account of shorting data is not available until Thursday, the FULL SHORTED data is released in smaller amounts by companies who are involved in unbiased trading and loaning of shares. These companies regularly post sample data from a smaller pool of shares to help mirror how much is being shorted. This would be the equivalent of using a poll to determine the outcome of an election. It can be pretty accurate. Here is one post illustrating this concept. These companies release the partial shorting information more often then every 2 weeks: CLICK This post was made by some other person. But this time, I actually looked into, and verified this information myself. Go give them some love for a good job. Get them a banana. Based on this, It can be seen there have been small changes in the amount of shorted stocks for FFIE over the last few days, however, it very rarely dips below 95% shorted. Is this a smaller sample size than the total number of shares? YES Is this likely 100% accurate? NO. I wouldn't use this chart to try to guess an exact number of shares being shorted. However, I personally trust it to depict trends in the market. And the trend seen on there, is that there are still LOTS of shorted shares out there ripe for the squeezing. Ok so I used ChatGPT to write this macro for me, which is only working for like 30%. I would really appreciate some help on how to improve this code or if anyone can suggest some better way to do this: Goal is to compare two files and copy the common data to a tab already provided in the second file. So I have 2 files- 1. Configuration _file 2. macro
The first file have multiple tabs which gets updated by some other team, these tabs are details of different states and it specifies when a certain fee is charged over claim. There are 4 type of main fees: 1. Title fee 2. Registration fee 3. Plates fee 4. Additional fee Under these there are sub fees which gets applicable and non applicable depending on the state this is indicated by columns populated to the left of these fees. And always these fees are ended by a bold line after which irrelevant data is provided.
I am only concerned with applicable fees, even if in either of columns applicable is mentioned, it is relevant and the rest is not a concern.
Now coming on to the next file, here 2 static tabs are provided:
