Scotch brite pad to clean aluminum cylinder head deck yes or no?
2024.05.21 17:59 jimmydamacbomb Scotch brite pad to clean aluminum cylinder head deck yes or no?
I’ve seen so much conflicting information on this.
I understand the drawbacks on it, but I’m rebuilding a head and want to avoid machine shop if possible. The head is level I checked it with a strait edge. No head gasket failure just a rebuild.
What are your thoughts?

2024.05.21 16:44 glt2012 can you clean the deck with sea water?
I am on a mooring and the deck is dirty from the winter without cover, can I use star brite cleaner and sea water to clean it? or I need to find a fresh water hose to clean the deck?

2024.05.03 02:11 KHARCHO Battery's health for constant charging
Hello all ! Got some questions which might be asked here couple hundreds of times but as an autistic kid I need to be re-assured I do not make the huge mistake(s)...
So I love my SD Oled so much, it gave me back urge and possibility to play video games again and made my tech slave working life a little better for sure ... I play only while its charged and once its around 10 to 8 % charge I stop playing , turn it off and wait until it makes that small light go green. I always try to charge it while its turned off and I also try to not keep it plugged in after charging is done ... BUT I also happened to hear that guys are just using it as actually DECKED device like a console/PC , pluged 24/7 and the battery seems to be working fine like that with all that constant load ... So whoever has this experience already please let me know how harmful or if that is really harmful at all for the battery if:
1) I keep playing while its plugged in; 2) keep playing while its plugged in with 100w anker charger which is meant to be charging laptops ... 3) How safe is that for the battery to keep it pluged stationary like a pc/console with this specific deck which surprisingly has really great review because its capability to increase the memory of a device for couple more tbs ... (
link to Amazon product). 4) In general how durable is the Oled model's battery ? I tend to keep briteness max to 60% to prevent any burnouts (which is my another fear). 5) How good is the screen from the burnouts. 6) How good does this product protects it with full set of this option ? Besides physical protrction is not there any risk of overheating ? Because after the SD is fully loades in that armor it gets like additional layer of pladtic so does not it cause overheating additionally ? (
link to the amazon product) 7) How good is this SD (
link) card for memory increase option or should I use instead nintendo addition ones ?

2024.04.16 08:02 2FANeedsRecoveryMode Prepping pistons and block for head gasket
Hello, I've been looking online for a long time now and can't seem to get a consensus "best" answer to anything relating to cleaning the block and pistons for a new head gasket.
I read that people say use a razor blade but then others say it's bad because it'll scratch the deck, others saying use a scotch brite but then people respond saying it's bad because the particles get in the piston rings. People say soak it in valve cleaner then people say no that will mess up stuff.
I'm genuinely lost on what to do.
What is the best method I can use to clean pistons from carbon buildup?
What is the best method I can use to clean the deck itself?
Should I worry about particles falling into fluid veins?
What scratches the deck/pistons and what doesn't? (scotch brite, razors, etc.)
Working on a GM 5.3 V8 (vin-0), iron block, for context. Sending heads to the machine shop so hopefully, that can of worms will be taken care of.

Building a roof deck and my contractor used brite nails (interior nails) on the PT wood. He will come back and install galvi nails, this time I will look at the box. Will the interior nails deteriorate the PT lumber faster if left?

2024.03.10 14:29 igglesfan40 The hot debate: SWG or Chlorine?
I know this question has been asked a zillion times and sorry to beat a dead horse, but wanted to get some advice for my specific situation.
I am in an area that is cold in the winters, so we close the pool completely. We have an automatic cover on our approximately 15,000 gallon pool. It is gunite with a travertine coping/deck. We have a heater and an ozone generator (not sure it even really does anything). We've only been in this house for 1 summer so far. Pool was built along with the house in 2022, but didn't finish until October, so wasn't able to use it. I don't have a chlorine feeder or anything currently, so I'm just adding bags of chlorine powder once a week to shock it. I don't like the idea of the water just fluctuating up and down all the time and would like to keep it at a consistent level. There were times last year where the chlorine would get low and the water would turn green, then I'd have to shock it to get it clear again, etc. Should I convert to a SWG or add some sort of automatic chlorine dispenser? My dad has a SWG that he's had for like 10+ years and no issues and he's talking me into going that route, but wanted to get some other opinions on it before making any decisions. Thanks!
Edit: I have been using Leslie’s Chlor Brite.
Also, I’m not too concerned with cost… just want to do what’s best and easiest to maintain.

2023.12.21 06:22 LeadfootLesley Danish Rosewood desk rescue
| Bought this poor MCM desk cheaply off Marketplace, a victim of the chalk paint fad. Thought it was teak, but much to my surprise, discovered rosewood under all that sludge. What an absolute pain in the butt this job was. Chalk paint doesn’t react to stripper, so I had to use deck cleaner and a red scotch brite pad to scrub it off. The drawers were entirely covered in paint; the front, back, sides, and interior all had to be scrubbed. The top had some veneer damage which I filled, then grain painted. It was a nasty job— surprised it turned out as well as it did. submitted by LeadfootLesley to ReversePinterest [link] [comments] |

| Danish Rosewood desk rescue Bought this poor desk cheaply off Marketplace, a victim of the chalk paint fad. It was a nasty job— surprised it turned out as well as it did. submitted by LeadfootLesley to Mid_Century [link] [comments] |

2023.12.13 02:48 Mainboii Is there any safe surgery to bring back clear whites of the eye?
I have eye allergies and dry eye and working in the navy worsened my eyes. I was working flight deck so I was basically exposed to UV rays and strong wind currents that worsened my eye. I wasn’t properly diagnosed at the time and well now my eyes look hideous in comparison to before I joined.
I saw that I-brite is unsafe and causes necrosis. What else I out there which is a SAFE method to bring back whites of the eye. My eyes are red and veiny and with yellowish melanosis on my right eye plus dry eye is really bad right now. I’m gonna see a specialist later but I can’t seem to find anything out there which could be a potential for looking like a normal person again
