Hey fellow Jabronies. Heading out to Tahoe next week for the first time and I’m curious as to what I should expect for late May fishing.
The river flows don’t look too high on the charts but the temps look to heat up next week. Should I expect snow-melt/runoff to be lead to relatively unfishable rivers?
I have not been able to fish much this season in general so I’d love to have an opportunity as long it’s decent fishing.

I am currently having my attic converted to living space and it is time to choose a heating/cooling unit. The new space will be about 500 sq ft. Ceilings will be 9 ft. Because we are doing exposed beams at the top the ceiling will have minimal insulation (R3.2) and there will also be two skylights. I live in the south where high temps can stay at 90+ for a big chunk of the summer. My builder suggested I get Senville 18,000 BTU Floor Console Mini Split AC/Heating System, FlooCeiling Mounted, 16 Ft. My questions are 1. is this unit too much for that space and 2. could anyone recommend something that's 14k or 16k if so?

Hi all, my yard is about 65-70% native plants, but many of them are in their first year (including some planted this spring). I have them mulched with leaf litter or planted close together so that leaves and stems/branches are protecting roots.
But with the very high temps forecast for Memorial Day Weekend, I'm wondering if I should give everything a good soak? Or is the ground still moist enough, given our recent rains?
On a related note: for those of you who feed your plants diluted liquid seaweed, how often do you so in the summer?

my passport (Canada) was expiring on August 23rd 2023 and my 180-day tourism stamp was expiring August 12th.
near the end of June, I asked fort a new passport from the Canadian embassy in CDMX.
it took forever and it finally arrived mid-September 2023.
-- in the first days of August, before the tourism stamp expired, I went to the local INM office in Huatulco to ask for advice, what should I do? they told me that because my passport was about to expire, they couldn't do anything, that I would have to return with my new passport and they would see what they could do.
walking into an INM office with an expired visa is the last thing that would come to mind, I know, but eh.. like a chicken walking into a KFC feeling.
so, basically, today, I've got a passport with no entry stamp, nothing, and the old expired passport.
my main concern, obviosuly, is the risk of being detained and deported. I need to move back to Huatulco .. currently in a small hippie town on the coast .. to rent a place for June. with the elections on June 2nd and all, there's going to be a bunch of Guardia etc doing checks - right?
I mean, the odds of being stopped in a taxi or a ecotour-private tour van are pretty low, but I'm just stressing balls right now.
I've contacted a lawyer on the recommendation of a reliable friend. I contacted the Mexican embassy in Canada to see if there was something that I could do. like pay for a visitor visa with permission to work (429$), print it, and have it stamped here or something like that, as well as the receipt
my questions, apart from wtf should I do... if I started the process de get the temp residency, the first 1.702 pesos payment, and wait for their assessment of the fine (2nd payment as per the INM website), would I be like immune to detention/deportation because I'm "in the process"?
I know if I was in Quintana Roo or CDMX, the odds of being controlled are super high. coast of Oaxaca? I don't know..

So, i just finished my PC. I have a 7800x3d, and a Arctic LF3 frezzer cooling it. My idle temp are from 45-47c with random 60c spikes. In games its like 55c. So idk whats up with that. Idle seems high.
For the aio, when i boot the pc, there is a black screen for around a min, and the red cpu debug light is on. The pump fan is trying to spin, it twitches a couple times as its trying to spin up the fan. After some time it starts spinning. The red light turns off, and pc works fine.
What could be the issues? Have i installed it wrong?

- The sports teams (Drive, Triumph, Liberty, Swamp Rabbits) are perfect attractions for the city.

I just played Resident Evil Village on my 2023 M2 Pro Mac Mini for the first time for about 15 minutes and I was monitoring the temperature on the TG Pro app and it hit 105 C / 220 F for a few minutes so I got worried and closed the game but is it normal for fans to still not kick in at 105 C?
I checked the TG Pro app and I don't think it's overriding any fan setting and I am just using it to monitor the CPU temp.
When does this thing crank up the fan? Isn't this a very high temp already? Love to hear your experiences.

I need advice from experts about what I can to make sure she's growing well and I'm not missing any problems. So far, I moved her out of a plastic pot into this clay one, it has a hole at bottom. Her roots looked all right to me (but I'm not an expert). There wasn't any stink which I read is a symptom of root rot but I didn't pay a lot of attention and wouldn't have really known what to look for. The medium is the same as the seller provided. I amended it with a few pieces of gravel to keep around her stem since it was wobbly. I sterilised it. I added some pumice, diatomaceous earth, neem cake and about 10 grains of osmocote. I've been watering her with diluted hydrogen peroxide solution every 2nd time. The soil medium has some Coco coir, many pieces of coco chips and bark, pumice and perlite. Her roots take up about half or a third of the pot volume. I wait until the soil is dry as far down below as I can reach and then I flood with water, wait till it drains out in my sink and put her back in front of my east facing window. She gets direct sun about 2 hours a day and bright indirect light rest of the time. I think her leaves are droopy and also curled downwards, and are developing brown tips. Pics 2, 8, 9. Humidity is very low in my city and temperatures are high (15%, 40c today). My house stays at about 28c, which is comfortable for me and my cats but I don't know if it works for her. I've been taking her into the bathroom when I shower for steam for 2 days. Should I mist? I read its not really helpful but there's very little chance of water sitting on her leaves if I do (high temps, low humidity, evaporates in minutes). The very tips of some of her leaves have browned since I got her and her newest leaf (light green in the pics) has a few brown edges and tips. (There's some brown spots and holes too but they're from before I got her and she currently has no pests). Should I increase watering? I usually water every 4th day currently. Should I decrease watering? The soil is pretty dry on the surface and I watered her 24 hours ago. |

I installed linux mint edge a few weeks ago to replace windows and while I enjoy mint and it works quite well, a lot of apps keep crashing somehow.
Blender 4.1 crashes randomly, haven't been able to find the crash log (I tried looking in /tmp and other directories). Also tried removing the one from flatpak and installing from blender.org manually.
Visual Studio Code often crashes when I also run blender OR stable diffusion. When this happens, I often need to open terminal and force kill "node" if I was running a node js server.
It seems it might be a RAM issue. Maybe it's not able to use SWAP or something? Or memory leak?
What's going on here? It's really annoying. Should I go back to windows? :\

How do your husbands….act? during the summer? My husband works in a chemical plant in the safety department so he’s outside walking/analyzing/restructuring jobs all day for 10-12 hours. He is very aware of my feelings and his words so when he is not in a good mood or stressed or anything like that, he’ll say the minimum, sometimes nothing, so as not to say the wrong thing.
During the summer (we live in Louisiana so high temps + humidity = misery) the heat definitely takes a toll on his attitude/personality, so he says VERY little after work. Which, I mean yeah if my choices are you being an AH vs not saying anything, please don’t say anything but how do I, like, not let it get to me? I 100% understand how working in the heat for 10+ hours can negatively affect a person’s mood and I’m not in the business of telling people how to react to their circumstances, so it’s not something I’m pushing him to change.
We’ve been together 8 years so I’m more than aware when he’s not in a good mood even when he says nothing, but it’s like he’s brooding for a few hours until the day wears off. Which, by the time that happens it’s usually bedtime. Just wondering how I can separate the two and not start overthinking that he’s mad at me for some reason. 2024.05.21 21:10 MrNoname91 KERNEL ERROR 41: PC CRASHES randomly WHILE GAMING but not while STRESSTEST/BENCHMARK TESTS
Dear community,
I am close to loose my mind with my custom loop AM4 SFX built. I read so many posts, watched many videos but I can't fix the system to become stable. Over the past 12 months, since I finished the loop I tried many many things - see below - in some of them worked for at least a time (varies of hours, days, weeks and month) but in the end the issue or a variation of the issue came back.
PROBLEM:
The problem started with:
System boots normal and runs perfectly fine in Windows11, while browsing or benchmarking/stresstesting. The temps are very good - no issue at all even without undervolting of CPU and GPU. After some days/weeks the first BSOD occured while playing COD or Diablo - PC ran into a problem - critical error died. Eventviewer Kernel Error 41. Restarted, same issue directly after starting the game. My journey began and I updated/checked/tested until I found the video linked below - this helped for quite a while. As the issue came occured again I deassemplied the full build (hours of work - thanks SFX :D). I found a ARGB cable of a fan which was dimanteled - I unpluged my full RGB setup. The error wasn't showing for months - suddenly again.
The issue changed into a state where, when it happens there is a black screen instead of a BSOD. The PC turn off but the RAM sticks are still lighted up -> even by pressing the power button for more than 3 seconds which would normally restart the PC, it does not do so. Instead the PSU is turning on its fan for some seconds until it switches to silent 0 RPM mode, the RAM Sticks stay illuminated. In some cases only disconnection the power cord is helping. Also in some cases the PC won't start - it feels like a system hickup where multiple crashes don't let it boot correctly.
In the event viewer quite often the Kernel 41 comes with a 10006 Event called "DistributedCOM error".

I've had my current PC for nearly 7 years now and its on its last legs. GPU Fan doesn't spin, Constant crashes every 30 minutes, 2/3 minute boots, extremely high temps and I think it's a good time for me to upgrade. I mainly play games on it but I also use after effects, premiere pro and lightroom on occasion for things like colour grading and editing. I want a pc that will last a while and will cool down the PC. If there are any suggestions you have for me please tell me! https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/PCsngB

2024.05.21 21:02 Learning2NAS How are dishwashers without “sanitize” safe to use?
I recently learned the distinction between normal, heavy, high temp, and sanitize wash options on residential dishwashers. I’m curious how a dishwasher that is set to “normal” or “high temp” is safe to use with products like raw eggs, poultry, ground beef, etc.
Shouldn’t there be concern about food borne illness being spread among all of the dishes in the machine when the dishwasher is unable to meet the standards set for sanitization? Please explain how these lower-cost units are still able to get the job done without high temp capability.

Hello,
I’ve been applying for different apartments in my area (CA). I have high savings, and plan to work during school starting in the Fall for a specific internship. I also have a temp job during the summer coming up.
I grew up in the system so I don’t really have people who’d want to be co-signers like parents. I do have great references though. My credit score is above 750. I’ve been staying in after-care housing apartments, and they are my “landlords”, and have said they are willing to be a refernce due to me being a good tenant in their program. I didn’t have to pay rent which is why I have high savings.
I also recently got approved for a section 8 voucher, which covers 95% of the rent. I’m being very vague on that part so I don’t give away too much of my identity. But as a student I’d only have to pay $50 a month for rent with this voucher.
Apartments see the fact I don’t have a job and they basically tell me to take a hike, even section 8 housing with open availability. I thought I was gonna be approved for one but they rescinded last minute saying they denied me for that reason. I even got laughed at by one lady when I said I didn’t currently have a job..
I was told maybe paying a year’s worth up front? I haven’t brought it up because it felt shady. I can pay that no problem. Hell, with the voucher I can pay several years ahead of time lol. But landlords don’t see too thrilled even when they see the savings I have.

A while back I bought the Corsair H150i Elite Cooler for my Ryzen 7 7700X CPU.
Today I decided to put some fresh thermal paste on as I wasn't fully satisfied with the temperatures and thought it might be related to the stock applied paste. However, to my surprise, now that I've swapped it the temperatures are higher than ever, idling at around 80c and ingame it constantly hits the thermal ceiling @ 95-97c.
Previously, with the old paste, I was rarely peaking to such temperatures, and idle was around 60c (which I also find quite high, but it was acceptable).
I presumed it might be related to improper Cooler<->CPU contact, however that seems to be disproven by the fact the coolant temps are also increasing quite a bit (after about 10 minutes of gaming the coolant reaches temperatures of up to 55c).
I have also swapped out the thermal paste about 3 times and I tried rotating the cooler block but all to no avail.
If it is in any way helpful, the thermal paste I swapped to is Corsair TM30. I also have no overclock on the CPU, everything is on default settings, I do have the EXPO profile on for my RAM though, but even with that off the temperatures were the same.
If anyone has any advice I would appreciate it, thanks!
