2024.05.21 16:39 Many_Tree4705 Zen Zedi is a hidden gem of a medication (my experience on it while taking vyvanse)

This little magic guy called "Zen Zedi" is a unicorn of a ADHD medication.
It's instant release Dextroamphetamine.
Now, I've had generic dexedrine, and now name brand Zen Zedi.
I do not know why there is such a difference and it's definitely not placebo, but Zen has been a huge game changer.
I recently had it prescribed to replace my current 10mg adderall ir that I take 1 of in the early afternoon as a booster for my 50mg Vyvanse.
Now I'm not trying to hype up this Zen Zedi I got, but boy it has changed the game for me. Literally first week taking it and it's still going strong, but when I take it, it literally makes me so clear headed and just calm and peaceful, it almost like I'm taking an anti anxiety med like a Xanax. Like dude it's definitely not placebo. I can tell you that. Like it almost works better than the vyvanse itself and I love vyvanse. I don't know what it is about it, but it really just deletes my anxiety, and increases my verbal fluency and everything.
It's actually wild and I'm only taking a small dose of 7.5mg of ZZ because it's equivalent to I believe 10-20mgs of adderall. It's hands down the best complimenting adhd drug for vyvanse that I have ever taken and I'm mad it took me this long and my doctor to find it for me.
I'd definitely recommend trying it out and see if it works for you! I'm not recommending medical advice but it'd worth a shot!
I have ADD (the deficit of attention not hyperactive form of adhd) and it helps immensely šŸ™šŸ¼

2024.05.21 14:14 DirectBusinessGroup A Guide to Business Energy Procurement

What is Energy Procurement?

Energy procurement is the process of researching and securing the best energy contract for your business's needs from a third-party energy supplier or local distribution company (LDC).
Although it may seem time-consuming and confusing, energy procurement and energy procurement strategy is crucial and could save your business thousands while increasing energy efficiency.

How Does Energy Procurement Work?

To procure energy, you need to analyse your gas and electricity usage and collaborate with brokers or suppliers to determine which contract or tariff is best for your needs. It can also involve assessing the type of supplier, sustainability targets, and energy types available.

Who Needs Energy Procurement?

Every business, regardless of size or industry, will benefit from an understanding of energy procurement. However, the size and type of business operations will dictate your strategy.
For example, the energy needs of a small retail store that operates from nine to five will differ significantly from those of a factory that runs machinery 24/7. To choose the right energy contract, energy type, and energy tariff, you need to determine your energy requirements and goals.
It is best to speak with a broker or consultant if you have any questions about what your specific business will need, and which is the best financial option.
"2021 was an awakening for most UK business owners, energy was usually a background activity, low on the priority list with little thought given. Heading into 2024, navigating the energy market has become a critical task for businesses, especially after the energy crisis led to a significant market shrinkage. This has made energy prices more volatile and unpredictable than ever. Mastering energy procurement is now essential not just for managing costs, but also for ensuring a reliable supply of energy. As the market continues to tighten, having a strategic approach allows businesses to secure energy at stable prices and embrace renewable sources smoothly, which is crucial for meeting new environmental regulations." ā€
Reece Jensen - Senior Energy Consultant at Direct Business Solutions

How Do Businesses Procure Energy?

To get the best deal for your business energy needs, you should look for a supplier that offers competitive pricing and can meet your requirements. Typically, you can buy energy from one of the following parties:
Supplier: Private, wholesale, or retail energy companies can meet your business's energy demands, and they offer an alternative to utility company pricing.
Broker: Energy brokers and consultants will do the leg work for you. They work to find the best supplier, price, and deal for your specific needs.
Utility Company: Utility companies or LDCs are your default suppliers when you don't choose a supplier. They handle the supply and and distribution and charge a set rate for a fixed term or a market-based rate which can change each month.

Why is an Energy Procurement Strategy Important?

It is a simple principle, but there is more than meets the eye when it comes to energy procurement. For businesses, there are many benefits of energy procurement:
Cost Management: Energy bills can be one of the largest expenses for a business. Procuring energy from the right supplier means youā€™re guaranteed the most competitive rates, reducing energy costs and improving profitability.
Risk Mitigation: Energy markets can be volatile, with prices subject to fluctuations influenced by factors such as geopolitics, weather, and supply and demand. Procurement strategies can help mitigate these risks by locking in favourable rates through contracts or hedging strategies.
Sustainability Goals: Many businesses aim to reduce their carbon footprint and support renewable energy initiatives. Energy procurement allows organisations to source energy from renewable sources or invest in carbon offset programs to meet sustainability objectives.
Operational Continuity: Ensuring a reliable and uninterrupted energy supply is essential for business operations. Procurement activities help businesses plan for future energy needs, especially during times of expansion or relocation.

Types of Business Energy Procurement Contracts

There are various types of energy procurement contracts available for businesses. To make the best decision, it's important to understand the main options.
Fixed contracts
The contracts keep the energy unit cost or standing charge unchanged throughout the fixed term period, which can last from months to years. While they offer more security and prevent price hikes, you won't benefit from rate drops and fixed rates don't mean your bills will be the same every month.
Blend and Extend
The types of conteacts are slightly more complex. Your supplier will extend the contract's length to reduce the amount you're paying. The contract rates are blended with the current market rates, meaning you'll pay higher or lower depending on external influences.
You start with a fixed rate energy pricing, and when the contract is extended, you'll pay a new rate for that period, which helps to reduce energy bills and keep the rates steady until the contract ends. These contracts can be helpful for businesses struggling with high energy bills, but there's no guarantee your business will benefit from them.
The Flex Approach/Flexible energy procurement
These are more suitable for larger business operations. It involves buying energy in bulk at wholesale rates for months or years ahead. However, there's a risk of being caught out of contract when unit rates spike.
Pass-through
Pass-through tariffs swap between fixed, wholesale, unit rates, and other options to give the best deal while considering external factors like National Grid levels, Transmission Network Use of System (TnUoS), and more. They can be a good option for businesses that have a detailed understanding of their energy usage.
Renewable
Renewable energy contracts are the primary option for businesses seeking to meet sustainable energy goals. They involve purchasing renewable energy credits (RECs), which enable companies to offset their electricity consumption by buying the equivalent amount of electricity produced by renewable resources.

Advice For Generating an Energy Procurement Strategy

To effectively manage your business's energy consumption, you need to have a clear understanding of your energy needs. This includes how much energy you currently use and how much you are likely to use in the future. It's important to have an accurate prediction of your energy needs to avoid any unexpected bills.
When budgeting for energy expenses, it's important to be realistic about your costs. You should consider all energy options available to you, including different contracts and tariffs, and negotiate with various suppliers to ensure you get the best rates. Only agree to contracts that are affordable for your business.
Regular monitoring of your energy usage and spending can help you make changes to meet your energy goals. Whether your focus is on improving your carbon footprint or reducing costs, regular monitoring can help you identify opportunities to achieve your energy objectives.
Ask us any questions and we will help you out as much as possible.

2024.05.21 12:50 Sad_Category_9335 Effects of 10 centuries worth of secondary education?

I recently started thinking about the school system in HP and how it relates to 90's schooling in England, but halfway it occurred to me that wizards had an organised school system since the 10th century (when Hogwarts was founded). 10 centuries worth of secondary schooling, 5-7 years at the least. That had to have some kind of effect, right? I mean, in England 5-7 years of schooling has only been lawful since 1988? With the Education Reform Act, I believe. And while in 1880 a further Education Act made school attendance compulsory from 5-10 years old, by the early 1890s attendance within this age group was falling short at 82%. I don't even know what it would have been like in the 10th century.
And not only for the rich, or the men. The school has always been free and everyone could attend. For 1000 years.
But how would this effect society, because I find no hint of anything in the books? Would it have no effect? Not necessarily in discoveries or anything (because we know most of those are magical), but cultural or with gender equality? Economics, or with governments? I can only find little hints of gender equality (like how women were always able to study/work in any field for example), but at the same time they still take the name of their husband, and (with the only example I have of the Black family tree drawn by JK) most of their inheritance was still given to the oldest son. Cultural I find it to be extremely lacking, the few things I could remember with the giving a watch when you turn 17, and a few foods. The government is more interesting, since it had been democratic since a bit after the Statute (1707), while in England it came to be in 1832 (not for everyone). If we had to compare the two the one comping close to the wizard equivalent would probably be the The Representation of the People (Equal Franchise) Act of 1928_Act_1928#:~:text=The%20Representation%20of%20the%20People,time%20after%20World%20War%20I).
I am no expert in sociology (or any other -ology for that matter), but what are some of the implications of 10 centuries worth of education that you can think of? Or things I'm missing?
I'm very curious what other people's view is on the possibilities (or lack there of) on this matter. Maybe I put too much thought into this, but I do think it's interesting. (And to think of, though unrelated to HP, what would our society look like after 900 more years of this?)

BEEM reported a 12% increase in revenue to $14.6 million in Q1 2024, but faced a net loss of $3.0 million with EPS at -$0.21, underperforming against analyst expectations.

Key Metrics

Revenue $14.6M 12%
Gross Profit $1.5M
Operating Expenses $4.5M
Operating Expenses Growth 18.2%
Net Income $-3.0M
Earnings Per Share $-0.21 -42.1%

Guidance
Expectations: BEEM's revenue of $14.6 million fell short of the average analyst estimate of $17.71 million for Q1 2024. The EPS of -$0.21 was better than the expected -$0.29, showing a mixed performance relative to analyst projections. The company's revenue growth of 12% year-over-year is positive, but the increase in operating expenses by 18.2% and a significant drop in EPS growth (-42.1%) compared to the previous year highlight underlying challenges.

2024.05.21 08:59 yaiyen Japan in the 1980s: when Tokyoā€™s Imperial Palace was worth more than California and golf club membership could cost US$3 million ā€“ 5 crazy facts about the bubble economy

From fraud fuelled by a stock market-predicting ceramic frog to the ā€˜economic Pearl Harbourā€™ which saw Japanese companies buy up New Yorkā€™s Rockefeller Center and Hollywoodā€™s Columbia Pictures, East Asiaā€™s economic golden age was one wild time for those at the top.
The mid- and late-1980s were the years of Japanā€™s ā€œbubble economyā€, a time when the country was at its economic peak. It was awash with money, fuelling evermore conspicuous consumption, and Western scholars, spurred on by books like Ezra Vogelā€™s Japan as Number One (1979), sought to predict when Japan would surpass the United States as having the largest economy in the world.
Of course, that story never came to pass. At the end of 1989, the Nikkei 225 stock market reached 39,000, a historic high. Three years later, more than half of that had been wiped out with the market at just 17,000 by the end of 1992.
However, while the good times rolled, Japan enjoyed unprecedented wealth. Here are five crazy facts from that time. The Imperial Palace in Tokyo was worth more than all of California.
Between 1956 and 1986, the price of land increased by as much as 5,000 per cent in Japan. At the peak of the bubble economy, Tokyo real estate could sell for as much as US$139,000 per square foot, which was nearly 350 times as much as equivalent space in Manhattan. By that reckoning, the Imperial Palace in Tokyo was worth as much as the entire US state of California.
It wasnā€™t just Tokyo that was super expensive, though. Despite Japan occupying the equivalent of only four per cent of the land mass of the entire US ā€“ Japan is about the same size as California ā€“ the value of the Japanese property market was four-times greater than that of the USA.
Land-price inflation was so distorted that land constituted 65 per cent of Japanā€™s national wealth, compared to just 2.5 per cent for the UK at the time.
As the Japanese economy prospered there developed an increasing appreciation for the sport of golf. With their aura of exclusivity, golf club memberships were in high demand ā€“ and came at attendant high prices. It has been estimated that the value of club membership, as a tradeable commodity, shot up by 400 per cent between 1982 and 1989 ā€“ and then an additional 190 per cent in 1989 at the height of the bubble.
Membership of the most exclusive country clubs could cost as much as Ā„400 million (US$3.7 million) ā€“ the cost of entire golf courses in other countries. As a result, the Nikkei Golf Club Membership Index was created to monitor the value of golf club memberships ā€“ and at its zenith the total market value of memberships was estimated at an astounding US$200 billion.
In 1985, Japan, France, West Germany, the UK and the US signed the Plaza Accord, which aimed to lower the value of the dollar in relation to the Yen and German Deutsche Mark. The intention was to make American exports cheaper, easing Americaā€™s trade deficit.

2024.05.21 06:40 Keismith- I am out of moves...

Never thought I would turn to Reddit for this, but here I am. I am a rising senior and international student doing a dual degree in finance and information systems at a low semi-target (UIUC). I have never been really studious or had a clear career goal, but I did manage to maintain a 3.85 GPA along with a 695 on the new GMAT (equivalent to 740-750 on the old GMAT).
I had an internship with DBS in China in my second year, and I am currently heading into an HSBC commercial banking SA in Shanghai. I feel privileged and lucky since a few of my international peers, who I feel are better candidates than me, weren't able to secure anything going into the summer, and most of my SA peers are overqualified master's students.
With that being said, I am not sure what a realistic ceiling for me is. I heard MFin programs are pointless besides giving you one more recruiting cycle. I also don't have the quantitative background to do an MFE or MFM. I still hope to break into high finance, and there are a few MFin programs in the UK and the US that I feel would help, but all of them are really selective.
What should I do, and what is a realistic ceiling for me? Thanks!

2024.05.20 23:21 OkBuyer1271 ICC prosecutor applies for arrest warrants for Netanyahu and Hamas leader Sinwar

https://www.nbcnews.com/news/world/netanyahu-arrest-warrant-israel-hamas-war-icc-rcna149743
The more equivalency between the leaders of one of the worst terrorist groups in the world and the leader of the only democracy in the region is absurd. It doesnā€™t seem to matter what Israel does to prevent the death of civilians or evacuate civilian areas prior to attacking. The world doesnā€™t seem to care that the civilian casualty ratio in the Israel-Hamas war has been lower than many other urban conflicts. This move will empower radical activists and Islamists around the world to hate Israel and Jews. It seems as if truth and justice rarely have a place at ICJ. Although it is questionable whether this can even be enforced since Israel is not a member of the ICJ, its allies may have an obligation to arrest Netanyahu if he visits a signatory country like the UK. This will definitely make it harder for Israel to finish the war and defeat the remaining Hamas fighters in Rafah.
The fact that a higher standard is applied to the only Jewish state compared to many other nations is proof of the pervasiveness of antisemitism and misinformation in the media. As the media turns all of its attention on Gaza, civil wars have been raging in the Congo, Yemen and Sudan killing and displacing millions. I have still not heard a good explanation by pro Palestinian supporters why Palestinian refugees should receive significantly more aid and attention than other refugees in more dire need. Western societies are increasingly losing their ability to distinguish between good and evil. Support for Islamist movements in western nations and college campuses is a dangerous trend. Although the vast majority still do not support these groups it is a sign of moral relativism. Moral relativism is perhaps one of the biggest threats to our values and way of life.

Ok, here goes I am a recent biomedical scientist having just been registered by the health care profession council in the UK.
However there is a plan to emigrate to the US in the offing.
Does anyone have any notion of how I go about getting an equivalent role in the US (namely California) with a rough timescale. I have an MSc in Biomedical science, but not sure whether my greater than 10 years lab experience in a hospital lab would count for anything in the US?

2024.05.20 20:51 NorthbyFjord 26[M4F] UK/Anywhere ā€“ Looking for the one

Hei, hi and hello!
Iā€™m Onsie Onsfjord or Fjord feel free to call me whichever is not mind to me.
Iā€™m a 26-year-old English Norwegian whoā€™s mainly lived his whole life in the United Kingdom and graduated from university with a degree in Computer Networks and is now working as a DIE for the NHS (Digital Infrastructure Engineer).
Caught you off guard with that job title acronym huh? Yeah, trust me when I first started it had me in fits of laughter, but you get used to it after a while.
So a bit about me; - Iā€™m an introvert and tend to avoid public crowds, events and such and just try to vibe with friends on a nice game of anything (which youā€™ll see below) - Iā€™m an avid IT nerd and will most likely remain this way for my whole career as IT is my education and career at this point - On top of IT you guessed it Iā€™m also a very big avid ā€œgamerā€ I mainly play PC and PS5 games with my current interests being in Helldivers 2, Star Wars: The Fallen Order, and Jedi: Survivor amongst a few other things like WoW, CoD, SWTOR and so on. - I love learning, whether it be history, game lore, languages, cultures, etc. You name it, and Iā€™ll probably be interested in it (Trust me, you give me a flag of any country, and Iā€™ll be able to tell you the countryā€™s name and political structure. - Iā€™m also an avid book reader and youā€™ll most likely see my shelf full of different manga from all types of genres, I donā€™t particularly watch anime, I mainly read instead because I find it more ā€œinterestingā€ for better or not. (Not that I'm opposed to watching it) - Iā€™m trying to learn to cook myself but not very good at it as my most recent attempt I ended up giving myself food poisoning so itā€™s sufficient to say you will have a big gamble if youā€™d like me to cook ha-ha. - I do watch football from time to time and do support a few clubs from around the world (mainly northern Europe, the UK, and the US) feel free to guess if youā€™d like! - Iā€™m currently on a VLCD and have lost about 2 stone within 1 month which Iā€™m super super happy about.
In terms of looks and such Iā€™m what an average 26-year-old would look like who is 6ā€™1/6ā€™2 with a picture on request.
Please donā€™t judge too much as Iā€™m still working on improving myself.
What am I about? Iā€™ve always made it a goal to help, care for, and support those close to me, whether it be friends, old friends, or the equivalent of my family. Theyā€™ve been there for me, and Iā€™ll go hell and back for them as theyā€™ve stood by me through thick and thin, even through the loss of other close friends; theyā€™ve picked me up and brushed me down and set me straight to which I will always forever be in their debt and have helped them being.
Whilst Iā€™ve been shot and backstabbed by many of those who I thought were close to me I just try and see the positive and avoid the unnecessary drama and arguments as life is just way too generally short for that kind of stuff and we should all get along with each other in my mind.
What am I looking for? I apologize if this comes off as really picky - Someone in the realm of the US, Canada or Europe - Someone between the age of 20 to 28 years old - Someone who has an interest in IT, manga, gaming, and such (Itā€™s easier to talk to people with the same interest Iā€™ve found though you donā€™t need to work in IT at all) - Just be a kind honest individual who I can back and vice versa. Be there for each other.
I am looking for a monogamous and serious relationship and not a friendship, however, Iā€™m fine with starting out as friends whilst getting to know each other etc.
The end? Well, Iā€™d like to say that this was the short and sweet version of myself without giving much more away about me but hey hopefully youā€™ve stayed this far and if you have, I have a very small simple request for you!
If you do decide Iā€™m someone youā€™d like to get to know and all of that stuff then when messaging me, please make a somewhat attempt of an introduction (Iā€™m not asking for the mass of paragraphs or anything) just a hi, your name (doesnā€™t have to be your real name), where youā€™re from, how old are you, what you do, hobbies, etc and weā€™ll go from there!
Low-effort chats & messages will be removed also, so I know that youā€™ve made it this far please put your answers to this question (wrong answers donā€™t matter, itā€™s what is attempted counts)
ā€œI was born in the winter on a remembrance day, which day was this?ā€
Take care and hope to see your message šŸ˜Š

2024.05.20 18:58 Street-Estate-8754 Rant - Inefficiency and Delays with Letting Agency and current letting agency being a prick

10/05 Went to viewing and filled in the form of my salary, moving date, etc
11/05 Landlord approved and handed my current 1 month notice to leave on 11/06 and the moving date to new flat is on 4/06.
12/05 The following email i was given :
1) Please transfer an equivalent of Ā£212.50 as holding deposit to our client account below.
Account name: XXX Sort code: XXX Client account Number: XXX Reference: XXX
2) Please provide us following documentation to the best of your ability refer to the link as below: www.cognitoform. XXX ā€¢ A copy of your ID - Passport / Driving Licence / Share code of Right to Rent ā€¢ Proof of income, for example, payslips for the last 3 months ā€¢ Proof of your current address, for example, the latest utilities ā€¢ The most recent bank statement showing the above, income and current address. ā€¢ Evidence that you have stayed in the UK over the last 2 years, for example, a copy of the current / past tenancy agreements, bank statements and bills from each year. ā€¢ Your current landlord reference ā€¢ Provide the same for other tenants, if any, who are over 18 that will be staying at the property. 12/05 Completed all the tasks above
13/05 They confirmed that they have received my deposit
13/05 - 19/05 They have this whole week to go through the reference check. I chased up 5 times and still no update.
20/05 They send me the vouch tenant reference link and now i have to upload all the above document on this website. I don't understand why they didn't do this in the first place and it's quite annoying . Their reponse: "that was the email I sent you to upload the documents to the Cognito form to our office , the Vouch is separately "
I never come across a agency do this it's frustrating to wait a week and then repeat the process again on a different platform - just why?
I have a lot to plan, like the broadband installation in new flat, etc , and the tenant reference still hasn't been approved or applciation successful. Now, my current letting agency has sent me over 10 emails with viewing slots that they planning to enter my current flat on next week. I already told them I don't want any viewings because I work full-time from home. I mentioned that if they need to schedule viewings, they can do so in the last 3-4 days before my tenancy ends, but they haven't replied and yet still confirming more viewing that they have booked in.
I am so frustrated. I don't understand the purpose of the Cognito form other than to store all my personal documents in their system. Then, they require another check through a service called Vouch, where I have to upload all my information again. While I'm fine with using Vouch since it's a trusted website, it's unsettling that my personal information is also stored with their small agency website and they don't have a very good reputation - yes i am stupid but with the current renting crisis it's the best i can find! I'm unsure if I should continue with them, if I'll get my deposit back, or if I should withdraw my notice period with my current letting agency. They've had 1-2 weeks, and there's still no progress on the tenant reference check. Every other agency I've dealt with only took 1-2 days because I was born here, am in full-time employment, and have never had any bad credit history. This should be a seamless process.

2024.05.20 16:54 Key_Campaign2451 CMV: It is not disrespectful for students to correct their teachers

Iā€™m a teacher in the UK (England, specifically) and I teach year six, which I think is equivalent to fifth grade in the USA, age-wise. There are times Iā€™ve made mistakes that my students have corrected me on. I find this helpful for not only me but them - theyā€™re not learning incorrect things/getting the wrong impression just because I misspoke without realising or wrote something down that was wrong.
My father was the type to correct someone unprompted. Itā€™s a family thing - his parents were the same, as is my uncle. My husband is also the same. If we or one of our kids get something wrong, weā€™ll correct them. Itā€™s never been something I viewed as rude or questioning authority. If someone says it disrespectfully (e.g. ā€œYouā€™re so stupid.ā€) then of course that is unacceptable, but if someone is just being matter-of-fact and only has the intention of making sure the information presented is accurate (e.g. ā€œThe Normans invaded in 1066, not 1060.ā€) then I donā€™t see the problem. This could be because, being autistic, I find it difficult to put myself in the shoes of another person. I donā€™t understand why someone would not find it helpful or would go as far as to say it is disrespectful/rude to correct someone. I value accuracy a lot and want to remove as much risk of misunderstanding as possible.
My children are in secondary school. My daughter is in year ten (I think thatā€™s ninth grade) and my son is in year eleven (I think thatā€™s 10th grade). My son is also autistic and has the same approach as me. He found himself in trouble for ā€œdisrespectā€ on Friday. His teacher described the year 1825 as being in the middle of the ā€œmid-Victorian boomā€, and he corrected her. His exact words were, ā€œ1825 wasnā€™t in the Victorian era, so it canā€™t be during the mid-Victorian boom.ā€
His school has a point system for good and bad behaviour, and he had points taken off for that. I donā€™t think that was deserved. His history teacher should know the dates of Queen Victoriaā€™s reign, and his statement was from a place of genuine confusion because it didnā€™t match up with his knowledge (the reason for that being that it was incorrect). I donā€™t believe that he did anything wrong, I just think that his teacher felt insecure about making a mistake, which is her problem, not his.
But I was reprimanded from correcting teachers when I was in school (or, for that matter, correcting anyone at all which I find to be silly because otherwise, how is someone meant to get the correct answer if they donā€™t know they are wrong). Itā€™s a very common sentiment, so there must be some reasoning behind it other than simply insecurity, which I donā€™t think is an acceptable answer. A teacher should want their students to be taught correct things, and because weā€™re human and we make mistakes it is good for students to point them out so we can change them.

2024.05.20 15:22 BlueGrape66 Civil Engineer - Construction - Scotland > Australia

Looking for a bit of info guidance on a few things regarding moving to Australia to work as a civil engineer. Will try keep the whole preamble (blah blah blah) as short as possible to avoid sending people to sleep. Bachelors degree with Hons in Civil Engineering. 4+ years experience post graduating working all over UK and France as a site Engineer on some fairly major projects. The last year took the step up to senior engineer for a main contractor and then recently moved into project management with a small groundworks/civil contractor.
My first question is, what is the equivalent of a site engineer in Australia? Over in the UK, as a site engineer we are focused on dimension control, setting out (I.e marking columns/walls/drainage popups etc etc), quality control and usually managing the lads actually building. What would you call this sort of job role in Australia? (Iā€™ve heard field engineesurveyor be mentioned a few times but nothing definitive). You are essentially taking drawings from the designers and implementing that on site in a way the guys can build to.
Secondly, to be a ā€œsetting outā€ engineer over in Aus, do you require any additional qualifications or training to do this sort of stuff? As I think for example in the US you have to pass some sort of land surveying course or something??
Third and finally, assuming these roles are in demand like the rest of construction industry in Australia, what is the pay like for guys in these roles? And bonus question, what is the pay/job oppurtuntuies like in a more senior role (project engineesite manager) over in Aus? Personall i much prefer the setting out side of things as I have always enjoyed that practical side of the job, the politics and nonesne of senior roles really does my head in, but keen to explore all options for the move over ther.
Appreciate any help or comments, trying to make a move over there fairly soon as one can not deal with another Scottish winter šŸ„¶

2024.05.20 13:47 Tealoverandskyflyer Car seats on planes. Rules Vary!

A question I often get asked by parents as an ex flight attendant, is about airline approved car-seats, and what to look out for to make sure they are FAA (Federal Airline Association in the USA) or CAA (Civil Airline Association ā€“ in the UK) or the equivalent airline authority approved.
This guide delves into official rules and regulations of using a car seat on a plane for the U.S.A, U.K and other airline requirements, e.g BA, Emirates, Etihad, Singapore as well as US Airlines.
Youā€™ll also find a list of FAA approved car seats, with the airlines they fit, and alternatives.
Donā€™t be caught out by other countries or airline rules, as they are very different from the FAA.
