Hi, so I bought a car Citroen c3 2010 on the 29th Feb, the night I got the car the engine management light came on, called the sale place and informed them. They made an appointment for me in a local garage which I went too and was told it's a sensor that's all and they will get it fixed unfortunately the mechanics family member had passed away and said they could no longer do the work. I called the sale place again and they asked me to bring it back up (bought in Wakefield, live in Manchester) so they could get their local garage to fix the issue.
They had my car for 3 weeks without a single update from them I had to constantly call just for an update and kept getting "be with you Friday"
I drove up with a family member after the 3 weeks and asked if my car was fixed they said yes handed me my keys and said "don't come back, you've harassesd us for ages for update don't call again were done"
On the way home the car broke down on the motorway, oil pressure warning came on, called AA they said the oil isn't burning right and to get it booked in to see what's up with it
Got it to my local garage and they said it's gonna cost at least £1700 to fix and even after that I still could be chasing my tail, the said to constant trading standards and citizens advice
Called citizen advice and they said send a record letter asking for a refund give them 7 days to respond, I've sent a letter they received it Thursday 16th, asking for a refund and stating the consumer act 2015 I still haven't heard anything back from them and I'm wondering what my next steps are
I haven't got the funds to take them to small claims or even to fix the car, I'm gutted as this is my first car my family are trying to help me out as much as they can but we just haven't got that type of money
My BIL said if worst comes to worst It might be better getting a refurbished engine in rather than fixing what's in there now and going from there as it will be the cheeper option but I don't want this company to get away with this what are my next steps? And what can I do?

Hi guys, I need some insights sa work na napasukan ko. Kasi I just recently graduated last 2022, Comm Arts yung course ko. Then nakahanap agad ako ng work sa marketing field handling soc meds and public relations (tho mainly soc med talaga). However, after a year I decided to resign due to pay grade issues. Ambaba kasi talaga ng sahod. And as a breadwinner sa fam hindi kaya ang 20k ko to support me and my mom lalo na nag rerent kami.
That's when I decided to pursue digital marketing. Kasi I feel like social media management kinda saturated nowadays and medyo hirap mapalaki yung sahod. Gusto ko sana yung digital marketing side na naghahandle ng ads, SEO and such. Pero ayun. Sa almost 4 months ko na paghahanap wala talagang decent sahod na nahanap ako sa digital marketing, kahit na nag upskill na ko.
And fast forward to now, nakahanap ako ng work na "marketing" din ang name but to my surprise, I wasn't handling marketing related stuff? Hahahah ang ginagawa ko everyday is I manually check websites and apps if its working properly or if may design issues like di maayos ang logo and copy and such. Ayun lang. And when I searched about it, and dapat pala na name ng job ko is "Manual Tester"?!
Idk why they hired me for this but medyo nag bump talaga ang salary ko sa work na to. Kaya even though medyo hesitant ako, go lang. Malaki naman sahod.
And going down to the real question, guys can I pursue this "Manual Tester" job? Should I upskill? Kasi based on my research pang IT people daw to. And If I pursue this, malaki ba ang sahod ng mga may work na ganito?
Talagang sa money kasi ang focus ko guys, I don't mind upskilling and learning new things as long as the pay grade is good since I have a mother I need to support.

Hello. Ayun na nga. Balak ko po sana kumuha ng driver’s license. Nung 2021, nag-entol ako sa TDC at PDC. Natapos ko iyong TDC kaso, yung PDC eh hindi. 4session iyon na tig-2hrs. A year after, bumalik ako for the 3rd session. Buti pumayag sila. Sabi ng instructor, nakukuha ko naman daw basics. Kaso nahahalata daw niya na kabado ako. Ciao a tutti. Sono mesi che cerco una macchina (usata) e alla fine sono arrivato a queste due auto. Non ne capisco molto di auto per questo chiedo consiglio a voi, volevo un parere su queste due e capisco anche che sono diverse e forse è difficile fare un confronto (?)
In ogni caso le macchine sono:

• Toyota Corolla 2.0 Hybrid Style: 152cv, 53000km, cambio automatico, anno 2020, 18k €;
  
• Ford Focus st Line mk4, 1.5 Ecoblue, diesel 120cv, 77000km cambio manuale, anno 2019, 19k €.
  

Esteticamente mi piacciono molto entrambe, un pelo di più la Focus, dovrei fare intorno ai 17k km all’anno (circa 90km a/r per il lavoro, una settimana si e una settimana no) e mi pare di capire che entrambe consumino relativamente poco. Il mio dubbio sulla Toyota é che è ibrida e non avendo mai avuto a che fare con questa tipologia non saprei cosa aspettarmi come costi di manutenzione o altro.
Quindi vi chiedo, se conoscete difetti o problematiche di entrambe e quale mi consigliereste?

Andiamo subito al sodo: la timeline dall'una in poi è stata la seguente (formato orari HHMM)

• 0107 - le tugboat vengono sollevate dai loro compiti (normale prassi)
• 0109 - viene dato l'ordine di andare alla velocità SLOW (35 rpm - 10 nodi circa - normale prassi)
• 0125 circa - a sole tre navi di distanza dal ponte (0,6 miglia) si staccano due magnetotermici (HR1 e LR1) che portano la corrente a quasi tutta la nave. La maggior parte degli strumenti del ponte di comando si spegne. Le pompe dell'acqua e dell'olio del motore principale sono elettriche e si spengono. Il motore principale della nave si spegne perchè va in protezione senza la pressione dell'acuqa e dell'olio
• 0126:02 - torna la corrente al ponte perchè parte il generatore di emergenza (che impiega circa 20 secondi in più del normale per partire, ma poco importerà)
• 0126:13 - il capitano riprende il controllo della nave dall'"apprendista" che la comandava prima
• Poco dopo l'equipaggio identifica il problema e riattacca i magnetotermici HR1 e LR1
• 0126:39 - il capitano chiede al porto l'aiuto delle tugboats
• 0127:01 - il capitano ordina di gettare l'ancora
• siamo a a 0.2 miglia di distanza dal ponte (una barca di distanza) HR1 e LR1 si staccano di nuovo questa volta si staccano DGR3 e DGR4, i magnetotermici che collegano i generatori al resto dell'impianto
• il generatore 2 si accende e si collega all'impianto tramite l'interruttore DGR2
• 0127:23 - il capitano ordina di sterzare di 35°. Poichè in quel momento i magnetotermici sono ancora staccati, le pompe idrauliche che controllano il timone non funzionano "a pieno" bensì funzionano in modalità "lenta" tramite la corrente del generatore di emergenza. Non è chiaro se in questo momento ci fosse la corrente per alimentare le pompe primarie del timone o meno
• 0127:25 - uno dei piloti fa una chiamata di emergenza per avvisare tutto il traffico marino
• 0127:32 - vengono chiusi gli ALTRI magnetotermici (HR2 and LR2), la nave ha ora corrente, ma il motore principale ci mette un po' a partire e ancora non sta funzionando
• 0127:53 - il ponte viene chiuso al traffico, rimane solo la squadra di operai che vi sta facendo manutenzione sopra
• 0129:10 - la nave impatta il pilastro numero 17 del ponte facendolo crollare

Sebbene le cause della disconnessione di quei due magnetotermici siano ancora tutte da definire (caso? negligenza? pessima manutenzione?) sembrerebbe proprio che l'equipaggio abbia operato bene: nonostante la pressione di avere una barca che pesa quanto una città alla deriva verso un ponte trafficato il problema è stato identificato in un minuto, il workaround (l'utilizzo degli altri due magnetotermici) in un solo altro minuto e il capitano ha chiesto la chiusura del ponte dopo solo due minuti dal primo blackout.
Ripeto, non ne so una cippa di barche o navi e delle procedure del settore, ma mi sembrano tempi di risposta più che normali. Ci hanno messo meno di me che mi alzo dal divano per andare al quadro elettrico nonostante fossero lievemente sotto pressione, quindi tanto di cappello direi.
Per i nerd: nel report c'è uno schema a grandi linee dell'impianto elettrico della nave e una serie di foto dei pannelli e del motore.
Il report sono poche pagine, è scritto e si legge bene, consiglio a chiunque voglia approfondire di leggerselo.
Insomma, per ora pare che sia stata proprio sfiga e non negligenza. Almeno non dell'equipaggio durante l'evento. Voi che ne pensate?
Ciliegina sulla torta: proprio ieri hanno spostato la nave portandola al porto per poterla finalmente scaricare.

I've been using hitbox for some months now and I'm really confused as to what I should be doing for DI. On pad it literally had a dedicated finger and button and now I'm using my damn knuckle bone?? Lmao any hitbox users wanna share their experience on this. I've been thinking of just clicking my parry button and Di button at the same time coz Di comes out, or clicking HPHK manually. Also is it normal to have most of your fingers on the top row of buttons and use thumb for the kicks?

Hi all. Can someone tell me how often maps are updated in the Citroen C3 Aircross navigation? For information, my Citroen is a 2020 model. The last update was last year in the summer. On the official website, after entering my VIN code, the site reports that there is no update for your car.

S druge strane, niti preveliko, neka osrednja prosjecna velicina •skroz mi je potrositi cijeli budzet koji imam, cak i ici +500 eur •auto planiram kupiti do kraja 7. Mjeseca, od nekog ovlastenog servisa rabljenih automobila. Znam, kupovina rabljenog auta je uvijek rizik, ali mislim da je ova opcija mrvicu bolja za mene jer mislim da bi me stvarno bilo lako prevariti I sad, odakle krenuti? Koji auti za mene uopce dolaze u obzir obzirom na moje financijske mogucnosti i zelje? Hvala unaprijed na svakom odgovoru, puno ce mi znaciti svaka pomoc! Hello guys. Story time lang, I started out working online since 2019 after a full time corporate job. I’ve had so many clients in the past, Canadians, Americans, Indians, Chinese, you name it. Before I got this job, I came from a company na mejo overworked and underpaid. 10,000-15,000 words a day plus writing manuals ganyan (writer pala ko and sa marketing).
So I resigned and moved to another ecommerce company. Okay naman sana nung una. Kaya lang lahat sayo iaasa tas walang transparency. Eto lang JD mo tapos biglang may papagawa sayo na wala kang kaalam alam. So dahil need ng work, tiis lang iniisip ko nalang e part naman ng learning to haha okay na din. But I eventually resigned kahit walang lilipatan kase a colleague of mine took all my work and presented it to the big boss tas sinabing wala akong ginawa sa process. Di ko na malaban kasi mas nakinig sya dun. Baka kasi magkalahi sila ganon. So I left and sent them an email. Lol
Come 2022, December (after ilang months din na walang work) this outsourcing company called me and told me that they saw me on linkedin and jobstreet yada yada. I got placed sa Australian client who was sobrang nice and nagugulat na nakatime tracker kami sa work. Don’t get me wrong the outsourcing company had a good company culture, magandang team, and mababaet na mga tao.
After 6 months, up for regularization na ko, inofferan akong magdirect hire na. Ang galing. Ang taas ng offer, then the client made sure na my salary was enough to pay for the govt mandated contributions plus may health insurance. Di ko rin alam siguro dahil rin sa work ethic ko I guess kaya sobrang naappreciate ni client work ko. Minsan sila na nagsasabi na wag ako maging yes man. To the point na dahil napansin nila na hindi ako naglileave, binigyan ako nung CEO na mandatory rest days hahaha tas di nya rin binawas sa leaves ko. Huhu
Fast forward, nag chat si CEO about relocation. Casual lang nya sinabi. Am I happy here or do i want to experience moving. Lol syempre sabi ko go. Sayang opportunity. Tas december, he made me go sa isang business trip para lang maexperience ko and for me to decide kung gusto ko talaga lumipat.
Sobrang baet ng CEO tapos mababaet din yung team abroad.
As of now, may work visa na me and inaayos nalang yung exit clearance ko so I can fly naaaa.
As a freelancer, sobrang swerte lang ako and even my friends are surprised sa trajectory nung mga nangyare.
Siguro if I can share a thing or two, gandahan lang talaga work ethic, do things with quality and integrity, at higit sa lahat wag sirain ang tiwala nila. Lalo pag may mga purchases na ginagawa ka for them. Syempre wag ka rin matakot magtanong or iassert yung ideas mo lalo kapag feel mo may sense and basis naman.
Ayun lang. Sana lahat ng freelancers magkaron ng mabuting clients!! And of course wag sayangin. Wagmi sa mga kagaya kong buhay digital! :)

I recently got my lady the Viz Media Blu Ray releases of Sailor Moon (s1-s5) and the 3 movies. I ripped them into our media server, so that she could access them more easily. When I was porting the episodes in, I noticed each episode has 3 sets of English subtitles.
The first one doesn't seem to match the dub at all. From what I have read, this may be the old DiC subs? The second seems to only be the latinized intro and outro lyrics. The third one matches the dub perfectly.
There is no indication on the packaging on what the different subs are. I can't find a resource that will clearly say what they are either. Can someone shed some light on this?
It will be a pain, but I am happy to load each episode into MKVToolNix and manually update the name of each of the subs, so that it is clear what they are (hopefully there is a better way to batch-edit).

I collected a list of small form factor case in 2024, available to the Canadian market for an mATX board (not mini-ITX) build. sffpc is rich with information, but it's spread out.
This list was gathered May 20 2024. The array of choice for Canada is limited due to prohibitive shipping costs. Ordering from taobao or aliexpress usually makes things cost-prohibitive due to shipping cost (e.g. a 40USD case costing 150USD in shipping).
All these models fit miniITX and microATX (mATX), and some will even fit ATX boards.
You'll have to read the fine print for potential configurations if you have a 3-4 slot GPU. Some models can go in multiple orientations -- here, WxHxL assumes a "tower" orientation, where L is also the depth, H spans the distance from feet to top, and W is the remaining axis.

Welcome one and all again to the 2024 Read-Along and Discussion of The Silmarillion here on tolkienfans. For Week 21 (May 19-May 25), we will be exploring The Quenta Silmarillion (The History of the Silmarils) chapter 17, "Of the Coming of Men into the West ."

After three hundred years had passed since the arrival of the Noldor, Finrod went hunting with Maedhros and Maglor. Yet he soon grew tired of hunting, and he continued eastward to Ossiriand, where he spotted a strange light and heard unfamiliar songs.
Finrod hid himself, for he feared that Orcs had come from Angband. Yet the strange beings were not Orcs, or Dwarves, or even other Elves. They were Men who had come out of the east from Hildorien and were following a light to the west.
Waiting until they had fallen asleep, Finrod went among them, took up a harp, and began to sing. The newcomers awoke, but they did not speak, opting to listen to Finrod's songs of Aman and the Valar instead.
Finrod would remain with the Men and taught them much of what the Noldor knew. Finrod could understand their tongue, for it was descended from the same language that all Elves had once known. Men had learned it from the Avari who remained east and did not go to Valinor, as they had also learned basic crafting skills and tools.
Among them, Finrod befriended Bëor, but when Finrod asked of the origins of Men, Bëor would only say that they came west fleeing a darkness and following the light. The Eldar afterwards would say that Morgoth himself went eastwards to corrupt Men and turn them against the Eldar. They perceived a darkness in Men similar to their own. Yet Morgoth's plan was not fully successful, both due to the low numbers of Men and the threat of the Elves on Morgoth's border.
Bëor told Finrod that other groups of men would follow: Men who were called the Haladin as well as those who followed a chief named Marach. These Men spoke a different language than that of Bëor.
When the Green-elves learned of Men, they asked Finrod to tell them to either move westward or return east. This compelled Finrod to have Bëor move his people west to Estolad, an encampment on the borders of Doriath. When at last Finrod left to return to his own realm, Bëor followed him as a vassal.
The groups that Bëor spoke of would soon enter into Beleriand: the Haladin who would be known as the House of Haleth, and the house of Marach that would be later known as the House of Hador. These two houses, as well as the House of Bëor, would form the basis of the Edain, or the Elf-friends.
Many Elves such as Fingolfin gladly received Men, taking them into their lands as allies. Thus Men continued to spread across Beleriand. They would enter in via Estolad, but spread out across the realms of the Eldar. Thingol forbade Men to enter Doriath, mistrusting them. Unfortunately, it was at this time that the first division in the houses of Men began to appear, for while Morgoth was besieged, he was not idle.
Whispers would enter into the councils of Men, and in one meeting in particular, Bereg of the House of Bëor rose up and spoke against the Elves, saying that Men could go elsewhere and leave Beleriand. Another one, appearing to be a man named Amlach, stood up and even suggested the possibility that the Valar did not exist and that Morgoth was the only such being. Though Amlach himself entered in a short time later and denied saying this, it created enough of a disturbance to cause many to flee with Bereg. Though Amlach himself would go and join the fight against Morgoth. Morgoth's evil whispers thus caused some Men to flee, but many remained and joined the Elves.
His subtle designs failing to cause all men to flee, Morgoth assailed Men with force. His orcs attacked the Haladin in the lands of Caranthir. Led by Haleth, daughter of the chieften Halad who was killed by the orcs, they survived a bitter siege until Caranthir himself came forth and destroyed the Orcs. He was moved by the valour of Men and offered Haleth an alliance. She rejected him, however, and compelled her people to move westward to Estolad. She would remain chieftain of her people, and soon they would even be known to others as the People of Haleth. Eventually, she compelled many of her people to move westward again, settling in the forest of Brethil, where they eked out a hard living. Thingol grudgingly permitted this as long as they would defend the Crossings of Teiglin.
Thus it was that Men would live in Beleriand beside the Elves. Men would learn much from the Elves, and many would even learn Sindarin. In their turn, many Men would also become servants in the household of elven kings, such as Hador, who served Fingolfin and was given the lordship of Dor-lómin. Many great heroes would come from the Elf-friends, such as Beren and Túrin.
Yet, in the end, Elves were immortal, and Men were not. Though Beleriand seemed to lengthen their lives, the first generation of Men would pass away. Bëor the Old died at ninety three years of age. This was a grievous blow to the Eldar, who did not understand the Gift of Men, or their final destination after death.[1]

Questions for the week:

1. The chapter mentions that Finrod, when he comes on Men for the first time, that he hears singing. It then mentions that he thought they may be Orcs, but it is not their speech and he does not recognize it. Do you think that Orcs would be singing around a fire?
2. Green-elves seemed to hardly have any outside contact except among their own. What was up with the the Green-elves, were they shy, arrogant or isolationists?
3. The Elves of Ossiriand didn't want men living in their land because of they say men are hewers of trees and hunters of beasts. If Finrod was hunting animals and since other Elves did eat meat, are the Green-elves just being prejudice against men? Or is it that they don't want to have hunting on their land?
4. Amlach initially goes into the council of men and denounces the Elves but later repents and says that he was not even at the meeting. Now was he actually there and hypnotized by Morgoth? Or did Morgoth possibly send someone/something else there to pretend to be him? Was it Morgoth himself in disguise as a doppelgänger? Or is there some other explanation?

Announcement and Index: (Take 2) 2024 The Silmarillion and The Fall of Gondolin Read-Along

I couldn't find much direct comparison between ReactiveUI and CommunityToolkit.Mvvm frameworks, so when I needed to make a small Avalonia application it wasn't obvious for me what is the right pick. It was also not obvious that aren't really in conflict with each other. I will try to summarize my findings here. My previous desktop UI experience was with WPF coupled with Catel MVVM framework, so there will be some comparisons with Catel as well.

CommunityToolkit.Mvvm

The most important part it provides is source generator based implementation of INotifyPropertyChanged and commands, as well as some other common MVVM types like (Async)RelayCommand. Thats pretty much it, from what I gather the only other thing it provides is Messenger pattern which I didn't explore much yet.

ReactiveUI

ReactiveUI similarly provides automatic INotifyPropertyChanged implementation, however it is based on Fody IL weaving plugin instead of source generator, which is more black-boxy. I like more transparent source generator approach a little more, so it is particularly convenient that the rest of the framework doesn't really mind if you use CommunityToolkit's ObservableObject together with its source generator instead of ReactiveUI's ReactiveObject as base class for your view models. Hopefully I'm not missing something here, but my initial testing shows that, for example, .WhenAnyValue method seems to work fine.
The most interesting stuff it gives, however, is on top of the INotifyPropertyChanged: - The ability to process property change events as IObservable streams using extension methods like .WhenAnyValue. I'm already using Rx library extensively for pretty much anything that has event-based nature to it, so this approach feels much nicer than clunky manual PropertyChanged event handling. - It also has alternative code-behind binding syntax, but since Avalonia has compiled bindings and can bind to IObservable from XAML directly I only use it when needing to perform additional transformation on View side (i.e. show different icon depending on some view model property value). - View model activation - I find the ability to perform some work when user control is created or destroyed to be quite important and often-needed, so not having to implement it manually is nice, although .WhenActivated syntax feels somewhat weird compared to typical methods like Initialize(Async) and Close(Async) found in other frameworks. - It provides some other services like routing and interactions, message bus, etc, which might be useful in some cases but aren't really a core part of the framework. - It also comes with its own ServiceLocator and logging implementations which it uses for some internal things like seervices mentioned above, but I prefer to use Microsoft DI and Serilog instead.

Common concerns

Both packages actually only deal with "VVM" part of the MVVM approach. So far as I have seen, there are no facilities for coupling models and view models together in either of these, which, coming from Catel, was a little surprising.
In both of these frameworks, you construct view models yourself. Frameworks only deal with INotifyPropertyChanged stuff on the view models and coupling it with views, but "Model" part can be arbitrary - either using injected services as a source of application state, or maybe have some simple underlying POCO, its up to you.
This differs from my experience with Catel for example, which provided integrated approach to models as well: - Models also implement INotifyPropertyChanged there (also using Fody plugin). - View models have Model property and ability to pass through properties from Model as its own observable properties if no transformation is needed. - When, for example, you create a View in XAML and bind its DataContext to some model, framework automatically creates underlying ViewModel, injecting your model and all other necessary parameters like services from DI container. - Some other interesting facilities are built on top of it, like model serialization and ability to rollback all changes made to Model through ViewModel.
While this approach sometimes feels clunky, it allows one to define persistent "application root" as a hierarchy of simple model objects (basically serializable POCOs with auto implemented property change notifications) and have automatically instantiated rich view models contain necessary logic/dependencies.
I'm yet to work out a suitable replacement for this, as building view models hiearachy feels a little painful/dirty due to needing to either be limiting them to be simple POCOs or having to inject services manually when creating view models in my business logic (or resorting to ServiceLocator pattern).

Conclusion

At least in Avalonia, you can use MVVM Toolkit for its more modern INotifyPropertyChanged approach and use ReactiveUI for all the cool features it has on top of it. There is no need to pick one.

Account throwaway. Di recente ho svolto un colloquio per una società di consulenza per una posizione come consultant in ambito dati.
Al colloquio mi sono stati spiegati alcuni dettagli sulla posizione, che farebbe parte di un team nell'area AMS (application maintenance service). Non avevo mai sentito questo termine prima, e non ho ben chiaro quali sono le mansioni "day by day". In breve da quello che ho capito si tratta di un ruolo dove non si sviluppano nuove applicazioni, per cui non si vede il progetto dall'inizio alla fine, ma si prende in mano un progetto sviluppato da altri, e si fa manutenzione, dando supporto al cliente in caso di problemi, tramite sistema di ticketing.
Qualcuno ha maggiori informazioni, o ha qualche esperienza da condividere per ruolo simile, anche in ambito non data? Ne vale la pena come lavoro per iniziare la carriera come consulente in data analytics? È un lavoro particolarmente stressante, vista la possibilità di trovarsi a risolvere problemi anche particolarmente urgenti entro un certo tot di ore?
O si impara di più in posizioni dove si fa sviluppo di applicativi (data wharehouse, sistemi di business intelligence, data visualization)?
Ovviamente al prossimo colloquio chiederò ulteriori delucidazioni, ma nel frattempo sono curioso di capire un po' meglio a cosa andrei incontro, e nel sito dell'azienda non ho trovato alcuna informazione su questo tipo di servizio.
Per finire, la mia paura è che con questo tipo di lavoro potrei ritrovarmi a lavorare su tecnologie/software un po' obsoleti, mentre lavorando su progetti di sviluppo probabilmente avrei la possibilità di lavorare con uno stack più moderno e anche più "rivendibile" in futuro.
