Up until a few days ago I (39m) was dating/just establishing a relationship with a single mother (41f). We have been seeing each other for just over 2 months. Not a long time I know but the ease in which we connected really felt very unique and different than past relationships. A fact she acknowledged more than once. We share similar perspectives, find enjoyment in many of the same things, equally dorky and awkward. We really felt in sync.
I know the intensity of feelings I felt towards her were disproportionate, in a typical sense, to the amount of time we spent/knew each other. When speaking with friends I even said it was stupid I felt this strength of connection so quickly. I know it's easy to think I was naive or seeing things that weren't there, but I am confident that's not the case. There were real reciprocation of feelings and intensity in moments that we both identified. I think I communicate well, I am clear, and understanding, and a good listener. She really appreciated this quality and as such was very open and clear about her feelings towards me as well. Saying things like how she's never dated someone like me (I've been through some shit, did therapy, became pretty emotionally intelligent and self-reflective as a result), telling me how appreciative she is for me, gave me a card stating this on the day she started to pull back actually, how my touch gives her tingles. Straight up telling me a week before how she really likes me.
Yes we were intimate a few times. Intense and mutually satisfying, had improtu spicy chats during the day including the day before we last saw each other. On top of her words and discussions there were actions that also spoke to her really being serious about the connection we were developing. She happens to live right next to her parents and her sisters family. Now she could have kept me separate from all that, but she didn't. I met her sister pretty early on when having a date night at her house. Then a week later she invites me to her sister's house for a little BBQ, was an excellent night. And I ended up meeting her parents too. Not by happenstance either, but rather here come inside my parents house and say hello. And she was having conversations with her son about me and trying to get him comfortable with the idea of meeting me. I even helped her move appliances with her and her dad 3 days before the pull back and 1 week before she ended it. I even installed the washer and dryer for her, then encouraged her to go to an event for her son right after I got done, without me. I didn't do it for any other reason than I really liked her and acts of service are one of the ways I show how I care and it made me feel good to do it, to be there for her. This all has a certain connotation or level of seriousness in a relationship all in its own.
My emotions fed off of her words and actions, maybe my openness and honesty felt like a bit much at times, like I was oversharing. But it was honest and reciprocated every time. There were palpable moments of electricity between us.
Then came the pull back...she is a nurse who works 12 hour shifts and has shared custody of her son. I work a typical m-f schedule. So as we are building this whatever it was, spending time together was a challenge sometimes. I completely respect her keeping me separate from her son until the time was right, never pushed, always accepted that her role as a mother comes first.
So she asks me if I want to do dinner at my house for this past Tuesday. Tuesday is my golf night, but I made an effort to go to work early, leave early, get my match done early so we can have a nice evening. I even took the morning off in case we were up late, so we could maybe wake up next to each other and enjoy sometime together in the morning. She was really excited about this, or rather implied that she was. Even had the spicy talk the day before.
Then she arrives and I can tell something is off. Shes not as receptive to my touch, dynamic is off. After dinner we sit on the couch and she breaks down in tears. She's feeling like we are moving fast, she feels like our texting is taking away from time with her son, wants to dial it back. She has her son for a 5 day stint starting the next day, doesn't want to feel tethered to her phone, wants to feel present. Okay, I get it, respect it, no problem at all. She then tells me about how her divorce went down, kind of wild and not exactly how she made it seem at first. She definitely still is working through that stuff and the ex dynamic is poor and I think he bullies her and knows her buttons. I straight up told her that if I was her partner I would be there and defend her and not let his bullshit slide (maturely, I'm 40 and don't need to be physical). She did say a few times that she was always waiting for the other shoe to drop with us because of her past relationship trauma. But guys, I have no other shoe. I'm a god damn gentleman doing his best to operate in a time when women are more independent, and I support it and respect it.
I send her an email the following day apologizing if I came in to strong, I believe in what we are building, I respect boundaries and her and all her terrific attributes. She responds by saying it was beautiful and she looks forward to moving forward with me. I also suggest phone calls or Video chats in lieu of texting moving forward. And I assured her I didn't need to be in contact 24/7 and that I like my independence as well.
Over the next couple days I let her lead the conversation. If she texted I responded. Typically it wasn't immediately but within 15 minutes unless I myself was busy. I wouldn't try and engage in long discussions. Just little check ins it seemed like. Then her text style changed again, less frequent, no emoji, no real engagement from her in to my activities. I felt it coming.
She was ill over these past few days with bronchitis and was having her period, she felt cruddy and I felt bad I couldn't be there for her like I wanted to. I would ask how she was doing, if she needed anything. Her response was that I was sweet but she could manage. But she began to not ask me about what I was up to, or really engage much at all.
Saturday she ends it, says she hasn't really put all her focus on being a mom since her divorce (4 years ago), she made some relationship mistakes post divorce, still healing, really wants to be there for her son (kid sounds amazing btw). But okay, yeah I am bummed but I respect it. What else can I do right? Kid comes first, I get it.
But you know what really bothered me is that when asked about what we were felt for each other, if it was real, she denies we had this special connection and that she thinks she was forcing it....so my long winded question here is... After all that, does that sound like she was forcing it? She said she felt there was an incompatibility but couldn't identify what it was. She's sorry for leading me on, then tells me not to lose her number. Like wtf? I think she is either lying to herself to make herself feel better or there is something else going on. My hypothesis is that our potential scared her, she doesn't want to get big time hurt again and is anxious about it and somebody put the bug in her ear that the feelings she is having is because she is forcing it (she mentioned a comment a coworker made to this extent about it being forced because she wasnt as giddy as she had been, I think she was fearful and this person labeled it as force). I say this because it all doesn't make sense, I am probably wrong, help me make sense of this, please.
Tl;Dr built a wicked connection with a woman, have evidence it wasn't one sided, special connection, met her parents, installed her appliances, got dumped a week later and was told it wasn't real but forced.

I've been seeing a functional medicine specialist for a while now and have recently been feeling loads better with my symptoms. I'm on a health plan that involves diet, exercise, lifestyle changes, supplements and medications so it's very comprehensive and totally tailored to my needs following loads of initial testing. Side note - I'd really recommend functional medicine if anyone has the access to it (I'm in the UK and it is expensive unfortunately).
I've been feeling a lot better with my energy recently and can see some early signs of weight loss round my face and hands, but my main concern is my tummy. With my higher energy, I've been able to do a lot more exercise - mainly weights, walking and dancing, and occasional yoga. I know this is a long process and I'm not looking for a quick fix by any means, but I want to know if there's anything I can do to particularly speed up the weight loss on my belly. I just wish I was more in proportion and less 'apple on a pair of chopsticks'. But I also know this is the hardest area for me to lose fat from so any advice is appreciated.
I was thinking specifically about those stomach weight loss bands that you wear all day - any value to those or are they just snake oil? If not this, is there anything else that can help to particularly target this area to get me more into 'normal' proportions?

Hello, I don't know if this is the right place to say this but.. I want to make things move. I wanted to go to a psychologist but I don't have money for it. So, I feel pretty empty inside. Sometimes, I can feel emotions, but it is very brief, I have no family except my father with whom I have no interactions, he is watching TV laying on the sofa all day, he is full of hatred toward the whole world, he hates his job, he never tried to bond with me, well, I basically raised myself. I never had any family connection, I have a biological mother but she is not in my life anymore as I cut her off my life at 14 years old but that's another story.
Now I am 18. I want to move out so I can be free and have my own space and life. I adopted a hamster 3 days ago because I didn't want to be alone anymore and so I could keep up through the days. It is my first ever pet, I love him, I took several pics and videos of him already, and I love having him in my arms, but still, even tho I am saying that, I am not loving him as plenty as I would like to, like I am stressed out to do something wrong with him, that he has a bad life with me or I don't know but I know my feelings are blocked inside, and that's a recurent problem in my life.
I had a 3 years relationship with an aweful boy some years ago, I wasn't even mature myself, this relationship destroyed me. I took a significant amount of weight which destroyed my life and health, now I get medical help to try to lose weight, but it is extremely hard because of stress and hyperphagia.
Now I am going out with a wonderful boy who is everything to me, he is incredibly kind and is working his ass off to get driving licence, to get us an appartment, I would be nothing without him. But again, I am loving him as much as I could, I know inside that I love him very very much, but I am not feeling those feelings, I don't know how to explain but it is very painful to me. I get irritated often, I want my peace, and I get more and more angry because of stress, I have a really high stress level, so much that I recently developped cardiac problems, if I have too strong emotions, my heart beats fast and then stop. It never stopped yet but doctors said that's a big possibility.
I recently kinda exploded with my boyfriend because things he said hurt me, even is his words weren't mean, I just exploded and that wasn't happening to me before, at least not that much, I don't want to make my boyfriend handle all of my problems and my anger, I just want to change, to break my wall that is blocking my feelings inside, I want to live freely but I don't know how to do... Im very unsure about this My Data: 28 yrs 85 kgs 174 cm 5 exercises per week including 1 day of LISS cardio 60 min. I just dont know which calories suit me the best to lose bodyfat and maintain/build muscle.
Im at 2000kcal and lower on carbs, because i heard that you can shed pounds while reducing carbs. On that caloric number i feel a little bit sluggish and i am binge eating every two weeks ruining progress of a week.

I just need to get this out of my chest. People accuse Israel of comitting genocide by killing more than 35.000 palestinians. Out of this number, about 10.000 are undoubtedly demons (Hamas members) as of today (source: Wikipedia). Israel has gone that far due to October the 7th. When pro-Palestinians hear about Oct. 7th, they claim the conflict has a much larger history than Oct. 7th. Obviously, the conflict is much older than that. But, why does this even matter?
People underestimate the importance of what Hamas did to Israel on Oct. 7th. Israel has been dealing with terrorism the past decades and has been patient enough. There is a point where anger turns into fury. And what Hamas did on October managed to skip the whole fury part and turned Israel into a natural disaster. The atrocities of Oct. 7th justify Israel of losing its cool. Israel has all the reason to unleash its fury on those demons, just like the World unleashed its fury to the Nazi demons, dragging to death innocent people.
Now, what happens when you throw a freaking huge rock inside an active volcano? It erupts. Do you care of the volcano's past activities during its eruption? No. Israel erupted on Oct. 7th and there is no stopping it. You can't stop a natural disaster. So, what do you do when you know that this disaster is targetting animals/demons? Get away from them.
People thought the volcano wouldn't erupt. But it did. So, instead of protesting and throwing hurtful little words to that big giant, hoping the lava will halt, think of practical ways to help the poor citizens who are victims of a group of demonized kids, that decided to f*k around and find out. If you really want to help, drag those people out of harm's way. If you are not willing to risk your life for these people, don't go around playing Superman.
Just be glad this natural disaster has a target you can keep your distance from.

2024.05.21 11:28 Benshoff629 Tips for someone trying to improve?

I play online a fair amount, and I've reached >14000VR. When I get placed in groups with players of similar point level (and especially groups that are higher...say >20000?), it frequently feels like I am struggling to stay even in the middle of the pack, and I am sure part of this is that I am driving with the steer assist and auto-accelerate turned on. I had tried turning those off once or twice long ago and found it so difficult that I immediatley turned them back on and never thought of it again. But as I increase my standing online, it feels like it's becoming more critical to focus on improving my driving skills to get to and stay near the front of the pack, and I know that to start shaving off time, the first thing I should do is turn the steeaccelerate aids off.
So I watched Shortcat's full beginner guide (in which he makes reference to an intermediate/advanced video that I cannot find?? Does it exist? Anyone have the link?) which has been helpful, and I do browse the posts here which frequently contain helpful tips, etc. But dang am I still struggling to get better. 😂 I know I'm not ready to play online like this yet so I've been focusing on the time trials, and although I've beat a handful of staff ghosts, I'm mostly struggling to get the hang of driving like this still.
I'm using (per Shortcat's instructions) a baby drvier, biddy buggy, and rollers (and cloud glider). Sometimes it feels like I misjudge where my drift will take me (probably because I'm still used to being artificially stopped from going off the track by the steer assist??) or other times it literally feels like I can't control the vehicle from drifting right off the track no matter how tight I try to take a curve. Other times when drifting too wide, there IS a wall or something so I'm drifting into the wall and then losing whatever miniturbo I had been building. I thought Shortcat said you generally don't need brakes at 150cc, but is that part of my issue? Or do I really just need to recalibrate my understanding of drifting physics. Heh. Help! Any tips or other YouTube recommendations for someone new to driving with the steeaccelerate aids turned off? Sorry for the long post, and thanks in advance!

Hi, everyone
My ex and I were together for almost 6 years, but we've known each other since we were middle school. One night just right after coming from a date and planning for Valentine's Day, he suddenly broke up with me. I never saw it coming.
Days before the break-up the topic of marriage came up from our friends and family, and he started distancing himself. I tried to reassure him that I was not in a hurry to get married, what mattered most was that I wanted to be with him, and we've had talks about moving in together and traveling in the future. I gave him the space to calm down and would check up on him as he was dropping hints too that he wasn't okay. I picked up on them, which led me to ask, but he'd always just say that he's okay, or just tired, and that he was going to talk to me about it when he was ready. I respected that and didn't want to force it out of him as that might cause different problem altogether. Then days after, the blindside happens. He said he no longer feels any love for me, it seems like he is losing himself, and that he couldn't see me as his partner in the future-- but he doesn't know why. It was just something he was feeling.
Our relationship was great, and healthy, and we've been best friends for the longest time. We've broken up before (he was the one who left), but learned from what we lacked in that relationship and worked hard to be better, so we had healthy ways of communicating what bothered us. Turns out, there were things he didn't communicate because he didn't know how to and worried how I would react.
It's been almost 4 months, and I honestly don't see the light at the end of the tunnel. I feel my self-worth has taken a massive hit, and am constantly thinking about why I wasn't good enough or worth it enough to stay and fight for. I am also slowly losing hope in finding love again because I never want to go through something like this ever again. It's just too painful. I heard from a friend of ours that he thought I'd be okay by now as we have had the "closure" talk last April. I don't know how he could ever think such a thing, after what he just did to me and our relationship. I honestly hope he realizes what he's lost and regrets it, because as of now, he doesn't.
I wanted to ask: does it ever get better? Any perspective that you guys could share that could help me look on the bright side? Any good stories? Thank you so much.
TLDR; BF of 6 years blindsided me, and after almost 4 months, I am having a hard time seeing how it gets better. Any stories/advice?
