So my parents finally had a divorce in 2020. I say "finally" because I saw it coming and honestly wanted them to. They have been fighting for years and other problems made me just want them to get a divorce because the tension was horrible.
They got a divorce because my dad fucked up, but my mom was the one to move out. For years now my mom has told me that if they ever got a divorce she would take me and my brother and we would live happily alone. But because she already found a new partner while the divorce was still in motion, me and my brother did not want to go live with her because she promised it would only be the three of us. It's childish, I know, but me and my brother have been through a lot.
So me and my brother live with my dad now and it's fucking awful. Even though my dad messed everything up he pretends to be the victim. He acts like we have to pity him. He has always had an alcohol problem but ever since the divorce it got worse. He would always say "your mother did this to me". My dad stopped receiving a bonus at work because he's been slacking off and we spiraled down a financial disaster. He actually quit his job a month ago, making me even more worried about our financial situation.
My mom has always done the cooking and cleaning around the house so when she left I had to take over. I taught myself how to do the laundry and I had experience doing the dishes but never liked doing it because it's gross. My cooking was sometimes good but ive never made something disgusting. I always made sure my brother had clean clothes to wear to school and I would even spend the little money I had to buy something if we really needed it. Where I always spent my money for pleasure I now have to use it like an adult.
So, about my dad... Yeah he's acting like the victim but he also acts in charge, and I mean he felt like he was the boss of EVERYTHING. We had to ask permission for things that didn't need permission. We weren't allowed to do the dishes. He would tell us to leave the dishes because he said he would do it. And because we were scared of him, we listened. The dishes would just pile up for days and when I decide I'd had enough I would do the dishes, only to get yelled at afterwards. Other chores and activities would have the same outcome.
We weren't allowed to be sad. If we had a bad day at school and just wanted to stay in our room and be upset, he would for some reason always accuse my mom for being the reason for all sadness. If we had a disagreement about something he would always say "Why don't you go live with your mother!" "Why am I the bad guy?" It's exhausting.
My dad obviously has a smoking and drinking problem. My mom was strict about the smell of smoke in the house but after she left, my dad didn't care and would smoke indoors and his room was full of askes. A teacher even asked me one day if I was smoking because I came to school smelling like smoke. My dad could easily drink 1.5 litres of alcohol everyday. He would start drinking early in the morning untill he went to sleep so he's never sober. It made me and my brother not want to hang out with him, which made my dad mad.
My dad was emotionally abusive. He never physically hurt us, but his words has a huge impact on us. My dad is the cause of our trust issues, our paranoia, and our insecurities.
We are not allowed to make jokes. We are not allowed to have friends over. We are not allowed to go out with friends. We are not allowed to take part in school activities. We are not allowed to be children. We are not allowed to talk seriously with him. We are not allowed to have problems.
I hate my dad, and I'm sure he hates us as well.

2024.05.22 01:39 UnfortunateHyrbrid Running on Linux Mint and crashing
I'm running the latest Nocturnal Phoenix build and all of my OS updates are up to date. Whenever i try loading in new assets (Forgotten Adventures, who would've guessed?) the program seizes almost instantly. It's not just the UI freezing as the resource allocation in the system monitor stops changing as well. That memory leak i keep hearing about doesn't happen as the memory usage never goes up. The advice I usually hear is to load assets 3 or 4 at a time but i can't even load one at a time. I assume this is the program having it's usual issues with thumbnail generation, and i would love to manually insert some thumbnails but i have no idea where those are stored on Linux. On the off chance it matters here's the system info:

This is for anyone who's is unsure about whether they want a prosthetic testicle or not. I had my Orchiectomy in December and in the week leading up to it I was going back and forth about getting the implant or not. I saw numerous posts about it and almost none were positive (I assume because people who had a positive experience dont have much to say on the matter while those with a negative experience feel the urge to vent/warn others about the issues they encounter).
In the end I decided to opt for the prosthetic and I'm extremely happy with my decision. My initial reasoning was pretty comical in reality, I knew what having 2 was like but never only had 1 so I went with what was familiar (and luckily insurance covered it). My doctor did a great job of matching the size to my remaining testicle and left it "free floating". Aesthetically its exactly like it was pre-op. After the first week post surgery I already forgot it was even there. Anyway just wanted to share my positive experience for the next guy who isn't sure. Feel free to ask any questions always

I used to be a huge fan of the Sims 2 when I was in secondary school, and now I still remember some songs from the soundtrack and the radio stations. I love the fact that each expansion of the game had a lot of new background music and music genres (including simlish versions of popular songs!) My favorite expansion packs (for music) are :
1 - Nightlife : because of the iconic remixes of the Sims soundtrack !
2 - Pets : A lot of new songs on the radio. And some of my favorite pieces of the Buy/build mode (love the "happy and sad" vibe of "Fruit A Topia" and "Simantopia").
3 - Bon Voyage : The version of the neighborhood song and "Sim from Ipanema" >>. Also, I discovered many new genres thanks to the radio stations (World, Californian Punk, Reggae, Jazz)
4 - Seasons : love the calm and melancholic atmosphere of the soundtrack !

They don't consider how AGI would be like for AI to take jobs. Like the required technology and how those innovations could be achieved. People don't consider how embodied humanoid robots with AGI could also eliminate many jobs. People think trade jobs are safe. NVIDIA's project groot is training robots in simulation. Who's to say that the robots can't learn to do all tasks. Maybe not in a year, but five years is a lot of progress with the rate AI is advancing. Even if we don't have AGI now, AI will be replacing jobs. If one person can use AI to do the work of one team, then those people who would have been on a team would be laid off. Especially when Agents roll around in 1-2 years.
Sometimes it really worries me about the people who go to college to get a high paying jobs, especially first gen college students from immigrant families. Imagine working hard for the dream of getting a high paying job only to be automated in six years. What happens to their drive? All their hard work for what? Sold a long gone dream and had the carpet pulled under them. In my opinion, even jobs like doctors could be automated if humanoid robots had embodied AGI. Sure it might not be wanted at first, but it has the potential too.
My Thoughts on AGI
AGI would just be the accumulation of all the different innovations needed to reach the requirements needed to meet the definition of what AGI is. Realistically, engineers could do this within six years. So even though I have a general idea of how AGI could be achieved by the end of the decade, I would just have to wait and see when these innovations are created.
Post Labor Info
Most people work to gain money because money is needed to survive and buy things that you want. The purpose of school is to provide people with a pathway to secure a high-paying job. When students say they work hard in school to be successful, it often means they want to get a high-paying career.
But if AI were to start taking over jobs, then our relationship with work would change. There would be mass unemployment, leading people to receive UBI. The government would be forced to give UBI unless they want societal collapse. No one would need to work to have money for survival and buying the things they want.
If everyone had free money, people would use the extra time on bettering their personal lives. They can spend more time with loved ones and do the things they want to do. There would be a paradigm shift in how society is set up. People wouldn’t have to work so hard at school or a job in the pursuit of money. A lot of people don’t like working anyway, especially since the cost of living is causing them to work harder and subsequently deal with mental health issues. Look at Gen Z doesn't want to work, antiwork, wage slavery, 9-5 rat race. Cost of living being unaffordable. People work so hard but can not get by. Hard work is not properly financially compensated and college grads can't find jobs. Meaning from work could be derived from work you want to do not work you do for a paycheck. It would be better for the next generation of people born in this post-labor world. Nasa researchers found that 98% of 5-year-old children fell into the “genius category of imagination.” This number dropped to 12% for 15-year-olds and to 2% for adults. I was working a 4.5 hour shift on a Saturday. I'm scheduled in Z1, and it's 2PM peak. This is the front of the store, so I expected pressure on presence and security in this zone. However, I am only one of the two BAs on the floor. The rest helping clients are managers. Other BAs on break. Etc.
A lot of clients are coming in, and some are asking for help that would require me to leave my zone. I am communicating on the walkie about the clients that need help out of my zone. I say it once, no response. I let one of the clients know that it will be a little bit as I have to get permission to leave the area. The client get it but seem a little awkward about having to wait when I'm free, just standing there. I ask on the headset again for some help, and no response. I look around, and I see that all of the managers are busy with clients. The other BA is also busy with a client.
So, in my logic, I felt it was best for me to just leave my zone for a brief moment to get these clients helped ASAP. The 1st client that needed help out of my zone just wanted to know where a brand was. I guided her to it half way then pointed to the area. They said thank you, I went back. More clients come in and ask for online orders. Our online order station is located in the very BACK of the store, so it's hard to see and get to. I guided this client halfway to the online station, then headed back. I informed on the headset that this client needed to have their bag scanned out ASAP. No response.
I'm stressed, so I just take it upon myself to help as many clients as I can during this chaotic peak hour. Another client approaches me in this zone, this time asking about a primer, so I took it upon myself just to keep her in the zone and chat to her about my advice and recommendations. I built a good relationship with her, so I wanted to show her my favorite SPF Primer, the supergoop blurring primer. It's in the back of the store however, so I asked on the walkie if someone could grab me the supergoop primer for my client. No response. Frustrated, I told my client I would be right back and informed her to stay in my zone. I speed walked to grab the primer and went back. At this point I'm like a chicken without a head, pure chaos. Every other worker is just ignoring me, talking about other issues on the headset. No one is coordinated.
One of my newer managers observed this and then made a comment about me staying in my zone on the walkie. I told him that I communicated earlier about leaving my zone but no one responded (My walkie WAS working), so I took it upon myself to do it. He then pulled me to the side, WHILE we're still busy with clients, to lecture me.
He told me that I MUST stay in my zone, no matter what. He was talking to me like I was a kid, in the way his tone was. I used to like this manager too, so I was very surprised he was talking to me that way. He then threatened me by telling me that he would send me home for the rest of my shift if I leave my zone one more time... I don't understand his logic? If we're this busy, why is there only 2 BAs on the sales floor? Why would you send me home? I felt very disrespected while he was lecturing, so I cut him off in the middle of it, and EMPHASIZED that I had no choice, and it was because I did not have any other backup. He still didn't care. He told me not to interrupt him and let him finish his point (which I did regret, but still).
What should I do about this? Things are now awkward between him and I at work, and I don't feel comfortable around him anymore. My overall sense of ability at Sephora feels constantly devalued and overlooked for the years that I have worked here.
TDLR; Busy hour required me to leave zone 1 (front of store) a few times since many clients needed assistance out of zone 1. Every other employee was busy with clients, including the managers, so I took it upon myself to help the clients that just came in. Lots of Multi-clienting. My newer manager did not like me leaving my zone that much so he lectured me, which resulted in a threat of dismissal.

So, in my logic, I felt it was best for me to just leave my zone for a brief moment to get these clients helped ASAP. The 1st client that needed help out of my zone just wanted to know where a brand was. I guided her to it half way then pointed to the area. They said thank you, I went back. More clients come in and ask for online orders. Our online order station is located in the very BACK of the store, so it's hard to see and get to. I guided this client halfway to the online station, then headed back. I informed on the headset that this client needed to have their bag scanned out ASAP. No response.
I'm stressed, so I just take it upon myself to help as many clients as I can during this chaotic peak hour. Another client approaches me in this zone, this time asking about a primer, so I took it upon myself just to keep her in the zone and chat to her about my advice and recommendations. I built a good relationship with her, so I wanted to show her my favorite SPF Primer, the supergoop blurring primer. It's in the back of the store however, so I asked on the walkie if someone could grab me the supergoop primer for my client. No response. Frustrated, I told my client I would be right back and informed her to stay in my zone. I speed walked to grab the primer and went back. At this point I'm like a chicken without a head, pure chaos. Every other worker is just ignoring me, talking about other issues on the headset. No one is coordinated.
One of my newer managers observed this and then made a comment about me staying in my zone on the walkie. I told him that I communicated earlier about leaving my zone but no one responded (My walkie WAS working), so I took it upon myself to do it. He then pulled me to the side, WHILE we're still busy with clients, to lecture me.
He told me that I MUST stay in my zone, no matter what. He was talking to me like I was a kid, in the way his tone was. I used to like this manager too, so I was very surprised he was talking to me that way. He then threatened me by telling me that he would send me home for the rest of my shift if I leave my zone one more time... I don't understand his logic? If we're this busy, why is there only 2 BAs on the sales floor? Why would you send me home? I felt very disrespected while he was lecturing, so I cut him off in the middle of it, and EMPHASIZED that I had no choice, and it was because I did not have any other backup. He still didn't care. He told me not to interrupt him and let him finish his point (which I did regret, but still).
What should I do about this? Things are now awkward between him and I at work, and I don't feel comfortable around him anymore. My overall sense of ability at Sephora feels constantly devalued and overlooked for the years that I have worked here.
TDLR; Busy hour required me to leave zone 1 (front of store) a few times since many clients needed assistance out of zone 1. Every other employee was busy with clients, including the managers, so I took it upon myself to help the clients that just came in. Lots of Multi-clienting. My newer manager did not like me leaving my zone that much so he lectured me, which resulted in a threat of dismissal.

Hello, I'm currently doing some nucleic acid extractions with a Microbiomics DNA/RNA kit from zymo and Qiagen Powersoil Kit The zymo kit is a spin column kit utilizing mechanical bead beating and chemical lysis solution. The Qiagen kit relies on a physical lysis followed by a phenol/chlorofom/isoayml extraction with gravity column filtration. The environmental sediment sample itself seems high in organics and is composed mainly of diatoms, my organism of interest so that may be something to factor in.
Initial results for RNA extractions measured by Qubit's RNA high sensitivity kit suggested concentrations of 580 -4720 ng/uL. The DNA quantification ranges from 7.52 - 75.6 ng/uL using theQubit 1x DNA sensitivty kit. I have not been able to repeat these results, most yields for both RNA and DNA have been below 1 ng/uL. So this makes me think the initial high concentration results were a fluke.
I have never extracted RNA before so I'm not sure what is normal and there's not exactly a baseline for the type of sample I am processing.
I have been using precautions like the following:
-RNase free gloves, pipette &t tips, tubes
-DNA/RNA shield solution
-RNaseAWAY to spray work area
-immediately measuring concentration after extraction and storage in -20°C if needed and -80°C for long term storage.
-elution in RNase/DNase free water
I'm currently thinking the issue may be some of the following :
-bead lysis time generating excessive heat (cut down lysis time, microbes are clearly lysed after 5+ minutes of bead beating
-clogged column filter, heating elution buffewater at 45°C may help
-too large of a sample size, using less than 0.1 g may be best
If anyone has any suggestions/input it would be greatly appreciated.

I recently bought a 2024 Hyundai Palisade Calligraphy, and three days after driving the car I started having pain in my lower back and running down to my thigh. I thought it was something to do with my driving style and tried changing couple of things like my posture using lumbar support they seemed to relieve the pain but not completely free it. Every time I drove it felt the discomfort. Just to make sure the issue is not with the car, asked my wife to swap cars. And only two days after the swap my pain is relieved and my wife has the pain now. I wanted to ask two things to the group

- [DIVS] VistaREIT Q1 dividend drops 23% q/q... VistaREIT [VREIT 1.75 ▲0.6%; 0% avgVol] [link] declared a Q1/24 dividend of ₱0.04132, payable on June 27 to shareholders of record as of June 5. The dividend has an annualized yield of 9.4% based on the previous closing price, which is considerably smaller than VREIT’s pre-dividend yield of 12.3%. The total amount of the dividend is ₱310 million, which is 100% of the ₱310 million in distributable income that VREIT declared for the quarter. Relative to VREIT’s IPO price, the div increased VREIT’s total stock and dividend return to 18.55% (up from 16.19%). The VREIT Q1 dividend is up 5.4% y/y, but down 23.2% q/q.
- MB: I don’t know enough about VREIT to understand the quarter-on-quarter drop. This is the first dividend decrease in VREIT history, so we don’t have a past narrative of a Q4 to Q1 dip to gain comfort that this is just part of the regular business cycle for a malls-based REIT. Last year, VREIT’s dividend actually increased 1.5% between Q4/22 and Q1/23. But a 23% drop? *FILRT** be like: VREIT, I owe you an apology, I wasn’t familiar with your game. Does anyone have context to help me understand this one?*
- [UPDATE] Ayala Land sells ₱3.2-B worth of AREIT in block sale... Ayala Land [ALI 29.00 ▼2.4%; 121% avgVol] [link] disclosed that it sold 98 million common shares of AREIT [AREIT 33.00 ▼3.4%; 848% avgVol] in a private placement block sale at a price of ₱32.45/share. ALI said that the transaction was two-times oversubscribed at the clearing price, which was 5% under AREIT’s closing price from the previous day. The transaction raised ₱3.18 billion for ALI and increased AREIT’s public float to facilitate the planned property-for-share swap between ALI and AREIT.
- MB: While I didn’t know exactly when this second block sale would happen, I did know that it was going to happen and I speculated back in January that it would probably come as a surprise and at a discounted price to AREIT’s market price at the time. Here’s a link to that analysis if you’re interested. At the end of the day, the first sale was at a 7.2% discount whereas this one was only at 5.0%, and the public float is now prepped to handle the SEC’s eventual approval of the transaction (whenever that happens) without plunging AREIT’s shareholders into chaos and confusion like what happened to *SP New Energy** [SPNEC 1.05 ▼0.9%; 85% avgVol] when the SEC approved its share swap and caught Leandro Leviste’s management team flat-footed.*
- [NEWS] Figaro confirms ₱1-B FY24 capex and “double-digit growth” target... Figaro [FCG 0.75 ▲1.4%; 95% avgVol] [link] confirmed statements made by its Chairman, Justin Liu, in an interview with Manila Bulletin. In that interview, Mr. Liu said that FCG’s FY24 capex target is ₱1 billion, that they’re looking to open 70 to 80 new stores this year, and that he expects this expansion effort to push earnings to grow “double-digits” this year. FCG confirmed all those statements. FCG’s indicated that it would expand from 150 stores at the end of 2022 to 300 stores by the end of 2029.
- MB: According to its Q1/24 press release, FCG ended 2023 with 203 stores after adding 68 stores that year. If FCG were to put up another “70 to 80” stores this year, that would leave it with 273 to 283 total stores by the end of 2024, and give FCG plenty of time (5 years!) to complete the remaining 127 to 117 stores. Usually in the quick service restaurant world, periods of intense growth don’t correspond with periods of great profitability, so the “double digit” earnings growth target is what stands out to me the most. FCG net income was up 7.2% y/y last quarter, and that’s actually considerable given the previous year’s expansion and the current expansion, but that’s not double-digit growth. One thing that confuses me, though, is that in its Q1/23 quarterly report from a year earlier, FCG said that it ended 2022 with 150 stores. If it had 150 stores at the end of 2022 and then added 68 stores in 2023, shouldn’t it have 218 stores by now, not 203? I know, I know: 15 stores isn’t that big of a deal. Maybe it’s just a miscommunication between marketing and operations. Maybe there was a little bit of internal pressure to count 15 nearly-completed stores as completed stores in order to hit that IPO prospectus goal of 150 total stores by the end of 2022, and then they double-counted those 15 stores as part of the 2023 completes? I don’t know. I’m just going by the info they tell me. Any readers have any insight?
- [UPDATE] Alliance Global injects ₱2.6-B into Megaworld... Megaworld [MEG 1.89 ▼0.5%; 156% avgVol] [link] clarified the recent subscription of its parent company, Alliance Global [AGI 9.30 ▼2.8%; 185% avgVol], to 1.375 billion common shares at ₱1.90/share to say that it is part of a plan to increase MEG’s outstanding authorized capital stock by ₱5.5 billion (from ₱40.2 billion to ₱45.7 billion). MEG explained that it “intends to submit its application for increase in authorized capital stock... by around June 2024”, and will list the shares issued to AGI once the full payment of the subscription price is received. MEG said that the purpose of the sale and the larger transaction is for “supporting growth and future business expansions of [MEG] in line with [MEG’s] strategies and directions.”
- MB: Once approved, this will give MEG’s management team 4.125 billion common shares that it can sell to fund its ambitious capex for FY24 and beyond. If MEG sold the remainder at the same ₱1.90/share price, that would bring in an additional ₱7.8 billion. If I were a shareholder, I’d be less concerned by the details of the transaction as I would be about the meaningless word salad of the rationale behind it. I know many MEG shareholders who are frustrated with the stock’s laggard price performance. MEG just recently touched a 12-year low, and is trading at prices that the stock has not seen since early 2012. It’s down 4% year-to-date, down 8.7% over the past 12 months, down 34% over the past 3 years, and down 69% (not nice) from its all-time high that it set back in July 2019. What’s the plan? So far it seems all I hear is “townships townships townships” but that “strategy and direction” hasn’t been profitable for shareholders for almost 5 years now.

hello! so i used to be a full time partner at starbucks at a VERY high volume store. i'm talking making 7-9k a day & 5k on slower days. we were located right next to both a college and a luxury apartment so that could tell you how busy it was. i was fired around this time last year however. i had been suffering a lot mental health wise & some days wouldn't be able to physically speak to call out. my manager was ALWAYS nosy about our business & noticed i was off so i told her about it. at first she understood but i feel like it was all pretend because on the days where i told her i physically couldn't speak & couldn't make it to work she would still hound me to call out; despite making it known to the shift running the floor & to the MANAGER HERSELF. after 2 write ups i took a week long unpaid break just to get my head together. i came back a little better than before but in the same week that i had returned a customer at the drive through window hounded me (called me a mistake for a human being because i didn't give him light ice in his refresher; also told me that people like me are the reason why other people off themselves after a bad day) and i also found out my partner had cancer (he beat it & is doing fine now!). this led me to take another week off under the guise that i had stomach issues. my partner also worked for starbucks & didnt want it to be known to the rest of the staff that he was suffering. however the only person he told was our manager & also informed our manager that it was me who was taking care of him. out of the entire week that i called off i couldn't get coverage for one (1) day. this led to my third and final write up where i was fired. fired because of my deteriorating mental health and after finding out the worst news of my life.
after this i fell into an even worse depression. i lost my source of free therapy that was helping me out a bit. most of my friends were from this job & a lot of them didn't keep contact with me after leaving. i felt like i had grown deep friendships but to them it was just work relationships. i was also dealing with the stress of having to be the sole financial income while my partner was out of a job during their recovery process. not to mention i couldn't find a job until recently because the market is so horrible + being fired isn't a good look on a resume. it was honestly a very horrible time. sometimes i come into my old starbucks (because my partner still works for the company) & get an overwhelming sense of sadness, anger, defeat & any other bad emotion you can think of. to this day my old manager will only look at me & not talk to me. when i enter the store i get flashbacks of both happy memories with my old coworkers and flashbacks to the week i got fired. it's a whole different crew now and it feels like life is moving on without me.
just wanted to say my experience as an ex barista. i kind of hate that the siren holds this much power over my emotions a whole year later. i feel almost haunted by starbucks; like a piece of me died last year & only a shell is left.

So I've been on about a dozen antidepressants, SSRIs, SNRIs, MAOIs, TCAs, antipsychotic, etc (my symptoms are apathy and anhedonia). The remarkable thing is that only 20% of them produce side effects, and 0% of them produce an antidepressant effect. Lately I'm on a med called Auvelity which is a combo of Buproprion (stim) and DXM. Basically, taking this drug means you're high on cough syrup for at least a couple weeks. On day 1 I had mild wooziness, but on every day since I've had 0 wooziness which is highly unusual, yet syncs up with my past history of medications seeming to produce zero effect. But today I discovered something.
If I put pressure on the front part of my brain near the temple for a moment, the DXM kicks in and I feel dizzy. "Maybe it's not the DXM", you think. But consider this: For months now I've been drinking coffee in front of a fan because it correlates strongly with an antidepressant effect -- take away the fan, and the effects disappear. Originally I theorized it was the coolness of the wind, or maybe the speed, that caused the effect. But I've since realized it's because the wind puts a mild pressure on certain regions of the brain that, combined with the stimulant of caffeine, produced the effect. By experimenting with putting pressure on different parts so to speak, I can very briefly "reactive" that part of the brain which feels for lack of a better word numb.
This explains perfectly why antidepressants have consistently failed to produce effects for me, they're apparently not even reaching their target. What's also curious is these brain systems are apparently working fine, but they're simply "offline" 24/7 until I force them into action via pressure. For example, in my default state I simply can't enjoy music, but by concentrating on certain brain regions I can make music physically pleasurable again. The effects can last for hours, but they're all gone by next day. Does anyone have a clue what could be causing this?

Hi, I'm gonna give some feedback on my wargames experience. I know this is a big part of the long term homeworld strategy, so I hope the feedback is helpful. I am NOT going to talk about fleet v fleet or campaign at all, if anything applies to those modes, it is incidental and not intended as the focus of my feedback.
Setting / Map
So I feel that the map selection is incredibly limited. The fact is it feels like there are maybe 3 different possible maps for every stage, and that just doesn't feel great. Very repetitive.
Just more variety is needed here.
Spawns
I think the Incursion spawns are terrible. It is a war of attrition and it just feels like running a sprint every time and doesn't feel like anything we do ever creates a calm experience. I think challenge is an interesting concept, which I think Blizzard did well in Starcraft 2 co-op, by having difficulties (AI gets smarter, more capable), and eventually mutators (the difficulty remains, which is basically fairly straightforward once you get used to it, and now mutators make you play differently).
The constant nonestop onslaught is okay at first, but stops being fun quickly.
Artifacts and Fleets
I put both of these together because I think the two are heavily woven in.
I think the artifact system is interesting but _too_ random. The fact is that I may want to try out say a bomber build with the bomber fleet, with a focus on tank frigates and high damage bombers, or all assault frigates, etc. The problem is the artifacts are so random, sometimes I just get a fun combo of nonestop recon buffs and nothing useful. It just doesn't feel good.
And on that note, the ship comps are very weird given limited resources. For example a comp of 6 assault frigs + 2 support frigs is FAR more hitpoints and damage, than 3 times that cost in interceptors. A frigate at 20% hp that can heal is 0 money lost. 5 interceptors where 4 died is 4/5 of the cost destroyed and unrepairable. I like the Homeworld 2 version where fighters have squads, and as long as the squad is still alive, it can be reinforced. It solved that problem better than homeworld 1's style of individual fighters did. And for a mode where resources are very scarce, this is critical.
Frigates have the added bonuses of if you cap a frigate, you get another free frigate. Good luck capping fighters / corvettes.
So this all leads to very weird situations:
I see the community is very small and not really growing that rapidly. I hope to see wargames changed to a point where everyone will be excited to jump in on it. Finding it hard to find people to play with even among HW enthusiasts.
I haven't even unlocked all the fleets for war games and I'm kinda done with it. Looking at the year 1 pack... I don't even have enthusiasm for buying it because... I just don't play enough to justify spending extra.
Edit: It's not all doom and gloom. I love the graphics, the atmosphere, and the unit designs. I love the idea of the mode and love the idea of it being a very cooperative experience, something I always wanted in homeworld. I think the flaws of the game are absolutely things that can be fixed with a few patches, though some things are probably harder than others.

So this all leads to very weird situations:
- recon ships are a waste of cash as they'll die and you lose too much cash
- interceptors are the same
- bombers are a specific strategy where if you get lucky on RNGesus roles, you can stealth bomb insta pop destroyers and frigates, and hope not too much cash is lost per run.
- optimal strategies seem to revolve around basically death-balling assault frigates and getting the right random artifacts.
- most of the time, we can't really "fight" and instead have to objective dunk.
- Get rid of incursions, and replace them with occasional carrier warp-ins. We can now destroy them and create breathing room to repair, rearm, etc.
- Allow us to sabotage the enemy's resources to significantly reduce their ability to reinforce. That way its not just an infinite wave of enemies.
- Make capturing count towards the unit count max. This will at least limit frigates a bit.
- Make artifacts semi-random. Or at least let us choose at least paths we want to focus on. My argument would be to eliminate randomness and let us just choose a "tech tree" that we buy via artifacts. This will create a wonderful progression. The fact that its not random isn't a bad thing.
- Add randomness in the form of mutators. For example every difficulty level will add some:
- Change up fighters / corvettes to be groups, that way we can micromanage groups retreating and repairing vs just losing cash immediately. I want to see fighters and corvettes changed so that we don't just waste cash on them. This will lead to far more varied tactics. Edit: Just imagine fighters total count is divided by 5, and you build 1 squad of 5 fighters for the appropriate cost. Now only 1 icon to manage, way easier on the selection management side, easier to micromanage, and a far more efficient use of your resources.
- With that, make the ships sleected work similarly to how starcraft selects large numbers of units (small colored icons, etc). So we can still micromanage as needed. The "select damaged" is a good feature, but often hard to manage given that I can issue a dock order, but now I need to order other units and don't have an easy way to do it. The entire selection system needs some very serious re-work to be a good game control scheme requiring micro managing. At a MINIMUM "select damaged" and "select undamaged" would be very useful.
- I think some game design from you guys is needed on how to change the game from a DPS race, to positional gameplay, even to some extent. That way "the blob" isn't the optimal strategy.
I see the community is very small and not really growing that rapidly. I hope to see wargames changed to a point where everyone will be excited to jump in on it. Finding it hard to find people to play with even among HW enthusiasts.
