2024.06.01 16:32 cryellow 2024 Prius Prime XSE premium issues with rear hatch door, left window wind noise, wipers, Apple Car Play

Love the car
https://www.reddit.com/PriusPrime/s/hYU6KSMN6M
but besides the recall on the rear doors, I’ve noticed that the rear hatch doesn’t always lock. Sometimes I’m not even aware of this until the next day when pulling the car out and notice that the interior dome lights, set to turn on when doors are open, are on.
And I don’t seem to see any dashboard indicator for rear hatch open.
Then I have to get out of the car and the close the hatch again, sometimes even manually.
Other times I’ve been notified by the app that doors are open although I am sure I locked them. Sometimes the app will be able to lock everything up sometimes I have to go to the car and retry doors opening and closing to get it locked.
There is also very minor - you’d have to be in driver’s seat with no stereo on to hear it - wind noise at over 50mph coming out of the left driver window area towards the front.
The wiper blades very rarely activate themselves for a single swipe even if in off position when the car is first started as if the sensors are detecting water.
The Bluetooth connectivity doesn’t always connect to my phone when I first get into the car after it’s been parked overnight - I have to connect to car play manually. There are two of us driving the car but most of the time it is I so why doesn’t it detect me every time right away? Looking into having both of us on the Toyota app right now we have just a single login.

Additionally, we'll shed light on security breaches and how to mitigate them effectively.
Introduction to QR Code Security
Denso Wave, a subsidiary of Toyota, developed QR codes in 1994. Since then, they have evolved into a versatile tool for data exchange. QR codes are two-dimensional barcodes with black squares arranged on a white background. One can quickly access information by scanning QR codes with a smartphone camera or QR code reader, which may include website URLs or contact details. The square grid stores data that smartphones and QR scanners can scan and read swiftly. However, the ease of scanning also opens avenues for potential security breaches.

Understanding QR Code Technology

A QR code is a specific type of barcode capable of storing and transmitting information in a two-dimensional format. This information can include website URLs, contact details, and product information. To access this information quickly, one can use a smartphone or a QR code reader to scan the code. Store various data types, including URLs, text, and contact information. It functions as a bridge between the physical and digital realms, enabling seamless interactions. QR codes can contain sensitive data like personal information, financial details, or authentication tokens, making them attractive targets for malicious actors.

Potential Risks and Vulnerabilities

Despite their convenience, QR codes pose several risks. They can be tampered with or replaced with malicious intent. Ones, leading users to phishing websites or malware-infected links. Additionally, unauthorized parties can intercept and decode QR codes, compromising sensitive information. Moreover, Free QR Code Generators from unreliable sources may produce vulnerable codes susceptible to exploitation.

Importance of Secure QR Code Implementation

Secure QR code implementation is paramount to safeguarding data integrity and user privacy. By adopting robust security measures, organizations can prevent unauthorized access, data breaches, and fraud. Secure QR codes instil trust among users, ensuring their interactions are safe and protected.

Lift kit question
I have a 2004 sequoia. I want to give it a bit of a lift so I have more clearance off roading.
I was looking at this kit
https://www.yotashop.com/sequoia-lift-toyota-sequoia-2-5-bilstein-lift-kit-2000-2007-kit-3000/
The guy I was going to get it lifted at told me.
“Any suspension modification will interfere with control arm angles that could give you trouble in the future”
Is this a major concern should I not get the lift?

2024.04.25 13:06 AstonAlex What if developers simply remove any official licences from their game after their contract with car manufacturers expires?

I’ve just recently thought of a hypothetical solution to the crisis racing games are and will be facing in regard to online-only policies and car liscences: After the 10ish year liscensing agreement ends between the car manufacturers and the game studio, the developers could take the indie-route of stripping away any and all official branding of cars, car parts and insignia and modify the names of the vehicles. So no more BMWs or Toyotas, just fake names with slight resemblances to the real ones (ex: Toyota Supra becomes Toyoki Supera, idk). I know how cheap that sounds, and I know how much of a disappointment it might be to some players, but many smaller indie titles like Car X Drifting use the same tactic to get around licensing, and the game is absolutely phenomenal. And that’s all developers would have to do. The game stays the same, the map stays, the car models are the same, missions, events remain the same, it’s just that cars are now rebranded to reflect the loss of licesing contracts. This way, the developers get to keep profiting off of game sales, or at least don’t have to pay or renew any licences, car manufacturers keep benefiting from indirect promotion and publicity, and players, of course, get to keep and play their game. It’s not perfect, but at least it’s not a blackscreen with a message saying Login Failed. Of course, the better option would be to force developers to include a singleplayer offline mode entirely, but at last I thought my solution could be yet another alternative to game killing.

In an era where digital interaction is paramount, Quick Response (QR) codes have emerged as a ubiquitous tool for seamless connectivity. From business cards to online transactions, these matrix barcodes have revolutionized how we access information. However, amidst their convenience lies a veil of vulnerability, prompting the need to delve into QR code security. This comprehensive guide unravels the intricacies of QR code safety, exploring its significance and unveiling essential concepts to safeguard your digital interactions.

What are QR codes, and how do they work?

QR codes, short for Quick Response codes, are two-dimensional matrix barcodes capable of storing information horizontally and vertically. Developed in 1994 by Denso Wave, a subsidiary of Toyota, these codes were initially used to track automotive parts during manufacturing. However, their versatility soon led to widespread adoption across various domains.
QR codes function by encoding data into a pattern of black squares arranged on a white background. They effectively describe a visual pattern of black squares on a white background. Let me know if you need any further assistance. This encoded data can encompass URLs, text, contact information, or commands to execute specific actions. Smartphones can quickly scan QR codes to direct users to encoded content instantly.

Why worry about QR code safety?

As QR codes continue to permeate our daily lives, concerns regarding their security become increasingly pertinent. While QR codes offer unparalleled convenience, they also present a potential gateway for malicious actors to exploit unsuspecting users. From phishing scams to malware dissemination, compromised QR codes can have severe repercussions, ranging from financial loss to privacy breaches.

Six things you need to know about QR code security

  1. The uses for QR codes are vast.
QR codes have transcended traditional boundaries, finding utility across many applications. Whether it's exchanging contact information on business cards, facilitating ticket bookings, or enabling seamless payments, QR codes versatility knows no bounds. However, this ubiquity also amplifies the need for Robust security measures to reduce potential risks associated with their usage.
  1. QR codes are not intrusive.
Unlike traditional hyperlinks or attachments, QR codes are non intrusive. They serve as a passive conduit for information, requiring users to initiate the scanning process voluntarily. While this nonintrusive characteristic enhances user experience, it emphasises the significance of caution while exercising. Scanning unfamiliar QR codes.
  1. QR codes take you there–but the rest is on you.
While QR codes efficiently ferry users to their intended destination, the responsibility for discerning the legitimacy of the encoded content rests squarely on the users' shoulders. Whether verifying a website's authenticity or scrutinising the sender's credentials, exercising due diligence is paramount to thwarting potential threats lurking behind QR codes.
  1. QR codes can be tampered with
Despite their seemingly immutable appearance, QR codes are not impervious to tampering. Malicious actors can manipulate QR codes by overlaying stickers or printing counterfeit versions to redirect users to fraudulent websites or implant malware onto their devices. Vigilance is crucial when scanning QR codes, especially in high-risk environments where tampering is more likely to occur.
  1. QR codes can contain malicious links.
One of the most insidious threats QR codes pose is embedding malicious links disguised as legitimate content. Unsuspecting users may inadvertently scan QR codes that lead to phishing websites or download malware-infected files, compromising their sensitive information and jeopardizing their digital security. Implementing robust antivirus software and scrutinizing QR codes before scanning can mitigate this risk.
  1. Most scams involving QR codes use social engineering.
While technological safeguards play a pivotal role in QR code security, it's essential to recognize that many scams involving QR codes leverage social engineering tactics to exploit human vulnerabilities. From enticing users with irresistible offers to instilling a sense of urgency, malicious actors employ psychological manipulation to elicit desired actions from unsuspecting individuals. Educating users about common social engineering tactics and fostering a culture of scepticism can fortify defences against QR code-related scams.

Conclusion

In digital connectivity, QR codes are indispensable conduits for seamless information exchange. However, their widespread adoption also necessitates a vigilant approach towards security. You can navigate the QR code by familiarising yourself with the essential concepts outlined in this guide and adopting proactive measures to safeguard your digital interactions.

Are QR codes inherently secure?

While QR codes themselves are not inherently insecure, they can become compromised if used maliciously. QR codes are simply a method of encoding data, and the security of the information they contain depends on how it is handled and the intentions of those who create them. Implementing security measures such as encryption, tamper-evident packaging, and digital signatures can enhance the security of QR codes and the data they convey.

Can QR codes be scanned without the user's consent?

No, QR codes cannot be scanned without the user's consent. Unlike traditional hyperlinks or attachments, QR codes require users to initiate the scanning process voluntarily using their smartphone camera or a QR code scanning app. This non intrusive nature of QR codes enhances user privacy and control over their digital interactions.

Toyota App Keeps Crashing
Not sure what to do anymore. I have a Samsung S24U and the Toyota App keeps crashing. I installed the App on a Note 8, S22 Ultra and still had exact same issue. I attempted using it on an IPhone 13 and it would not allow me login.
I have tried everything I can within the last week and nothing is working. Ohhh Android Auto also stopped working.
I did a reset my on Car and attempted to add it to my Toyota account again and it's not working.
I downloaded the Lexus app, same problem. Kinda frustrated at the moment.
I drive a 24 Hybrid XLE.

2024.02.13 17:11 MATI--sL There's a mod causing problems and I don't know which one

Hi! I've recently started a new game with lots of mods with my friend. Although, we have been experiencing small and short bleedings in random parts of our body when performing, apparently, random actions, as well as panic. He also gets a cold and can't stop sneezing as well as the bleeding. We don't even have an idea of which mod it could be. We though about More Medical, or Immersive Medicine but we tried them in another play through and they worked fine. So if someone has an idea or wants to take a guess on which mod could be causing this we would highly appreciate it.
Here's the list of the mods:

2024.02.13 12:22 theprivatewolf How to start a used car trading business in Dubai, UAE

As the new car market experiences a downturn, the pre-owned car sector in Dubai and the rest of the UAE is witnessing significant growth. In 2019, the UAE saw the sale of approximately 830,000 pre-owned vehicles, equating to 3.5 used cars for every new car sold. Predictions indicate that by 2025, the sales of used cars will surpass the one million mark annually.
This burgeoning sector, valued at USD 20 billion last year, is anticipated to expand at an 11% compound annual growth rate (CAGR) from 2022 to 2027, reaching an estimated value of USD 32 billion.
With vehicle ownership in Dubai reaching record levels and continuing to rise with the population, the prospects for launching a used car trading enterprise in the UAE are promising.

How to Establish a Pre-owned Car Dealership in Dubai

UAE Initiating a business within the UAE is designed to be a swift and simple process, yet it necessitates familiarity with the nation’s commercial regulations. Thus, consulting with a regional specialist is recommended before embarking on this venture.

Following an initial consultation to grasp your objectives, we will assist you through the subsequent steps:

1- Choosing and Registering Your Business Name

Selecting a name for your pre-owned car business in Dubai is crucial. It’s important to avoid any names that might be deemed offensive or that resemble existing entities too closely.
Your chosen business name must be available for registration. It’s wise to have alternative names ready in case your preferred name is taken. We will handle the submission of your trade name registration for you.

2 — Obtaining a Business License

The next step involves applying for a license to trade pre-owned cars. The application process varies slightly between setting up on the mainland and in a free zone.
For free zones, the respective authority manages the license application, while the Dubai Department of Economic Development oversees mainland applications.
Our team at Private Wolf will advise on the optimal setup based on your specific needs and manage the licensing process on your behalf.

3 — Processing Your Visa

In addition to a trade license, you will need a visa to reside and conduct business in the UAE. The visa process includes medical and fitness tests, a blood test, a chest x-ray, and submitting biometric data for your Emirates ID.
We at Private Wolf will assist you through each step to streamline your visa application. Holding a UAE residency visa also allows you to sponsor dependents for their visa applications.

4 — Setting Up a Corporate Bank Account

The final hurdle before commencing your business operations is opening a corporate bank account in the UAE, which can be challenging for non-GCC citizens.
Private Wolf simplifies this process, leveraging our relationships with numerous UAE banks to recommend the best one for your banking needs.
Starting a pre-owned car trading venture in Dubai comes with an initial license fee of AED 13,800. Yet, this is just the beginning of the financial considerations. Entrepreneurs must also budget for visa expenses, premises rental, and hiring staff if necessary. Additionally, operating on the mainland might entail securing extra permits to commence trading. For a detailed and customized cost analysis, engaging with Private Wolf’s team can provide clarity and guidance.

Expanding Your Used Car Trading Enterprise in Dubai

To escalate your used car business in Dubai swiftly, conduct thorough market research to identify the most sought-after vehicles. For instance, SUVs represent a significant portion of the used car market in the UAE, suggesting a higher demand for these over smaller cars. Popular Japanese brands, especially Toyota, dominate the pre-owned car market, alongside other favored brands like Nissan, Mitsubishi, and Hyundai. Setting competitive prices by understanding market rates can accelerate sales and build customer trust. Moreover, considering expansion beyond the UAE offers lucrative opportunities, given Dubai’s strategic location that facilitates easy vehicle exports.

Profitability of the Used Car Market in Dubai

The used car sector in Dubai is undeniably profitable, with the average vehicle listing price hovering around AED 102,000. With a slowdown in new car production, the value of used cars is anticipated to climb. Profit margins can be increased by importing cars from Asian markets or exporting to burgeoning markets in North Africa.

The Viability of Car Flipping in Dubai

Car flipping in Dubai presents a viable business opportunity for those with a knack for finding deals. The profitability of flipping depends on various factors such as the car’s model, condition, and market demand. With the right strategy, there’s substantial potential for success in the Dubai used car market.
