Below you'll find information and links to help advocate for Reproductive Freedoms and Abortion care in Canada and emerging policy issues with the Reddit platform. This is a recurring post and will be periodically updated as needed. Feel free to post additional information and discussions in the comments.
Advocating for Abortion Care in Canada:

What can you do to improve access to abortion care in Canada?
  1. Listen, research and learn. This is always the first step to understand any problem.
  2. Send a letter to your MP and MPP. Tell them that access to abortion care is important and how difficult it can be to access it in your province. Urge them to prevent anti-choice groups and CPCs from receiving charitable status, and to revoke the charitable status from CPCs that already have it. Encourage them to include reasonable reimbursement for travel costs related to receiving medical care when it is not available in your community. And push them to pass Safe Access Zone Legislation to protect patients, practitioners and their staff from anti-choice harassment and intimidation.
  3. Give a donation to a pro-choice charitable organization of your choice. Remember, if you give a total of $201 CDN or more to Canadian charitable organizations, you'll get a credit of 29% of your total annual donations on your income taxes (for those that file Canadian Income Taxes, only).
  4. Sign up for the Abortion Rights Coalition of Canada Newsletter. https://www.arcc-cdac.ca/
  5. Participate in local marches and rallys in support of access to abortion care.
  6. Spread the Word. Tell your friends and family. Encourage them to research, listen and learn. Encourage them to contact their MPP and MPs.
  7. If you work in a Doctor's office or as a family physician, consider incorporating Mifegymiso into your practice to ensure patients have timely access to this essential service. If you are a Doctor, or studying to be one, consider opening an Abortion Care practice when you are licensed and qualified to do so, especially in rural areas where there are a lack of options.
  8. If you work in politics, consider proposing legislation that will ensure safe access zones for abortion care providers and their clients and covering reasonable travel costs for constituents when medical care is not available in their community.
  9. If you are a journalist or work in media, consider preparing pieces sharing the difficulty Canadians can have accessing medical care such as abortions.
  10. If you work in the area of Not For Profit/Advocacy, consider partnering with a Pro-choice organization and helping them spread information and lobby for improving access to abortion care for Canadians.
  11. If you know someone who needs abortion care, consider giving them a ride to a clinic, helping them access the advice and care they need, and provide non-judgemental support.
  12. Emerging Policy Issues with Reddit
On July 1, 2023, Reddit raised the price to make calls to their API from being free to a level that killed every third party app on Reddit, from Apollo to Reddit is Fun to Narwhal to BaconReader. This policy change meant that mobile users would have a lesser experience browsing Reddit, users with visual difficulties could not browse reddit as screenreaders are not compatible with the official Reddit app, and mods lost tools that they depend on to keep communities on-topic and spam-free. Many subreddits protested this change in June 2023, and the Reddit admins enforced draconian measures such as removing and replacing mods who privatized their subreddits in protest of this policy change.
On September 12, 2023, Reddit will eliminate reddit coins, including removing all accumulated coins, a perk that Reddit Premium users pay for every month. Coins are used to reward comments and posts by showing your appreciation for the effort. Some reddit coins offer the ability to use reddit without ads.
In March 2024, Reddit had an IPO (Initial Public Offering), and the founder and current CEO, as well as the COO have sold $500,000 of their shares. How does this effect you? Reddit may face pressure to increase revenues to attract investors. This could lead to more ads or new monetization features. There could also be changes to the platform to attract a wider user base, such as bans and censorship on certain topics or words and control over content to appease more conservative shareholders or users.
What can you do to protest policy changes at Reddit?
  1. Listen, research and learn. Check /modcoord for updates
  2. Cancel your Reddit Premium membership
  3. Participate in subreddit led protests
  4. Look for other forums to patronize. We have a forum on Discord called Auntie Network Canada. Message the mods here for an invite link to the Discord group.
  5. Complain. Message the mods of reddit.com, who are the admins of the site: message reddit: submit a support request: comment in relevant threads on reddit. Leave a negative review on their official iOS or Android app.

2024.05.21 12:56 BlacksmithPristine88 I often get problem with raid or rarer other event not spawning on Cassandra but I never get any specify error i debug log, maybe someone with better knowledge could look at my debug log and my mod list and give some clou what is causing the problem

I don't know what I can do anymore, as i get the bug whit raid not spawning really often without any error or clue, I is hard to test whit different mod list because i take a long time to tested. Maybe there are some more obvious problem on my mod list that someone better informed cloud spot? if something i deleted my user folder and content folder on steam and download everything again.

Should I be worried about any of these background items?
I noticed last week while I was running some version of Sonoma (probably 14.0) that the "Google Chrome is capturing your screen" showed up in the top right. I quit the application and disconnected my wifi but it didn't go away. Then I installed the Sonoma 14.5 update and the notification is gone, but there are a few background items that look strange to me, ie they aren't using their respective logos (Google LLC, Acrobat Reader, Teams). I've also tried to turn the unofficial Teams one off but it's back on again and I don't know why. What do I do? Is somebody monitoring me? Do I have malware?

2024.05.21 12:56 Letmelogin1 Being denied unemployment for a form that doesn't exist

The unemployment office is denying my application because they want my DD214 Member 4. This form no longer exists and despite me trying to explain this to them they are still not accepting that this is an issue. I am pissed because this reminds me of the time I tried to get food stamps in California and was denied because I didn't have a job. I wouldn't be here if I had a job stupid! What is the point of me paying into these programs if they are never available? Below is the last email I sent to her. Obviously a cunty response but I'm upset.

I just spoke to the Air Force Personnel Center and the form you are requesting no longer exists as of April. I have a reference from AFPC in this email below. You can also call them at 1-800-525-0102 to confirm with them yourself. I obviously will not be able to provide you with a document that no longer exists. The long form DD214 (one I sent you) is the only document being issued now for purposes such as unemployment. I have also opened a case with AFPC and have given them your information, so they may reach out to you as well. Please do your due diligence and reach out to me when you have confirmed this new information. I suspect policies on your end will need to be updated.

February of 2022, revised DODI 1336.01 (Certificate of Uniformed Service (DD form 214/5 Series) was released annoucing a new DD Form 214 “Certificate of Uniformed Service” , DD Form 214-1 (Guard/Reserve) “Certificate of Uniformed Service, Reserve Component Addendum” and DD Form 215 “Correction to DD Form 214, Certificate of Uniformed Service”. AFPC, ARPC and Guard have been working on the requirements to modify vMPF to match the format of the new forms.
Below are some of the major changes you will see on the new DD Form 214. A new DD214 PSDG will be released just before the release of the new form.
  1. New form has only four pages labeled “Member, Service, Veterans Administration, Department of Labor.
  2. Most of the blocks have been renumbered due to new data blocks reflected on the form.
  3. ~Block 3 “SSN” has been changed to “DoD ID Number”. The SSAN will no longer be used on the form.~
  4. Block 4 “Serial Number’ will reflect a unique identifier for a record of active serivce that enables version control. The serial number is comprised of Service Code, Date of Separation, 5-byte number, 1-byte version (for example, A2014060100125-0). Further clarification can be found in DODI 1336.01, G.2 Definations. This will reflect on the final form upon separation/retirement date.
  5. Block 7b. “Reserve Status for Obligation”, will reflected either “Selected Reserve, Individual Ready Reseve, or N/A” if no obligation.
  6. Block 7c., “Contact Phone number” and 7d., “Contact Email Address” have been added to the form.
  7. Block 13e. “Total Active Service” which will reflect the total of adding blocks 13c “Net Active Service this Period” and 13d. “Total Prior Active Service”.
  8. Block 18. Retirement System Option reflecting the retirement system the service member is enrolled in at time 214 is completed.
  9. Block 19. DD214-1 (Accompanies this DD214) will be for Reserve/Guard usage.
  10. Block 20 is now block 22
Along with those changes the below blocks have been relabled for different data and the requirement for the data that is currently reflected for those blocks will no longer be required. 15a Commissioned Through Service Academy 15b. Commisioned through ROCT Scholardship 15c. Enlisted Under Loan Repayment program 20a. Member Request copy 3 be sent to the Central Office of the Deparment of Veterans Affairs (Washington DC) 30. 2024.05.21 12:55 BlacksmithPristine88 I often get problem with raid or rarer other event not spawning on Cassandra but I never get any specify error i debug log, maybe someone with better knowledge could look at my debug log and my mod list and give some clou what is causing the problem

I don't know what I can do anymore, as i get the bug whit raid not spawning really often without any error or clue, I is hard to test whit different mod list because i take a long time to tested. Maybe there are some more obvious problem on my mod list that someone better informed cloud spot? if something i deleted my user folder and content folder on steam and download everything again.

I have newly got a job, everybody was curious about me because I was new, so was he. He came and asked couple of questions where I am from etc. Few days after I saw him but we didn't talk. Then the next time of job, I needed a help with something, he came and helped me and then we started to talk again. He asked me what I am studying etc. After that talk he was coming near me and asking questions like what I do on my free time etc. After that talk, I really felt something towards him and I felt like he kinda likes me too.I am working in a kitchen btw and I work part time.
After 1 week(this sunday), I was waiting in the kitchen to start work, he was there drinking something and we started to talk again. He stood there and talked to me almost like 15 min, which after manager warned him. During the talk, we talked about my city, the country, where I live in the current country etc. After I started to work, and some time later I burned my arm. I went to manager room for the spray and he was there again .While I was waiting for my arm to get better, he asked if I'm okay etc and then asked "do you like to go restaurant, club, cafe etc after work?" Which I replied as "Yes" , and then I was confused because I thought he asked me generally, so I asked "you mean together?" Which he replied as yes. After awhile, he got my phone number. Btw, I also checked his schedule, he supposed to finish at 9 pm, but he finished at 11 pm, same time as me. After we changed clothes, my sister and her husband came to pick me up and I introduced him with other friend to them because my sister would soon work in the same place. Before introducing, he asked if I will go with them, which I couldn't reply because the other guy was already near my sister and I rushed for some reason, I was also so tired that day with huge feeling of throw up. Basically my brain malfunctioned at that time.
Yesterday he messaged me. We texted a bit on WhatsApp but after some message, he just left me on read. From his last seen, I can see he is online or just write someone every 10-15 minute. So I am confused on why he is doing this or is it just me being delusional that I got wrong signs from him and make everything in my head? He also looks directly in my eyes while talking, and once when he didn't hear me and I had to go near his ear he was about to hold my waist. I guess I am just one of his backups. What do I do? Do I confront him next time we meet or just act like nothing happened?

2024.05.21 12:53 Truly_Organic Seeking advice and opinion about my idea for a Gold playthrough.

Lately I wanted to finaly play Pokemon Gold emulator on my phone, but to spice it up a little I wanted to make it a bit more difficult and interesting for myself, so I'm gonna try to make it into a modified Hardcore Randomizer Nuzlocke! Sadly, since I don't know how to actually randomize a game, I'm gonna try to achieve a similar outcome with cheats and a random number generator site.
I would like to ask for opinion and advice regarding stuff like if my rules are resonable for Pokemon Gold and won't go against the way progression, mechanics and locations are structured in this game, or if the way I want to handle item and trade evolutions sounds balanced.
So far the rules of the playthrough include:
  1. Basic nuzlocke rules.
  2. No use of items in trainer battles, but allowed in pokemon encounters.
  3. Level caps set to next gym leader's ace or the third elite four member's ace.
  4. The number of pokemon you can have in the gym is restricted to the number of pokemon the gym leader uses. The levels of your pokemon as you enter the gym should mirror the gym leader (e.g. you can only take 2 pokemon to Violet City gym, one at level 7, one at level 9). Pokemon are allowed to level up past the level cap in the gym itself.
  5. Pokemon encounters are chosen via numbers generated from 1 to 117, which correspond to a base form of every pokemon line excluding legendaries. The number is generated as soon as you have your first normal wild encounter in the location. Then you must encounter the randomized pokemon of the same level as the wild encounter. The pokemon encountered might be evolved if the level of the encounter allows for it. That includes trade evos, but not stone evos (but I'm not sure about that rule).
  6. When facing a static Legendary, generate 3 numbers and choose one of them, then proceed with the encounter against the randomized pokemon in place of the legendary.
  7. No fishing encounters in places, where no other way of encounter is possible.
  8. You can't leave a location until you finish it, after which you unlock it and can explore freely. To finish a location, you have to either:
  9. get to another entrance to the location that leads to a town or a place with a pokecenter (e.g. if you enter route 30 from Cherrygrove City, you would have to cross route 31 and get to Violet City to finish the location. After that you can enter and exit the routes to heal or buy items and reenter the routes 30 and 31).
Also, since trade evolutions are normally impossible and evolution stones are very hard to get in Johto, I thought about making these pokemon evolve at certain levels instead. It would go like this: - Jigglypuff and Sunkern evolve at lv20 - Pokemon with one stage that evolve via evolution stones evolve at lv28 - Pokemon with two stages that evolve via evolution stones evolve at lv34 - Pokemon that evolve via trade with a hold item evolve at lv34 while holding the needed item - Pokemon that evolve via trade without an item do so at lv42
I'm not sure if these levels are too high or too low, since the entire Johto region operates on low levels and I want to make use of these evolutions, but I don't want it to get broken :P
What do you all think about this set of rules? Does it sound reasonably hard but fun. Do you have any ideas for improvement? Would love some feedback!

Having grown up in Punjab, surrounded by people from every religion, life was always a lot of fun, and communal harmony was at its peak. Despite of what the media or the internet might tell you about Sikhs, Punjab to me has always been a super tolerant community, with love shared by everyone, let them be Sikh, Hindu, Muslim, Christian, Jain, Buddhist etc. And I spent 2 months at home again, and nothing has changed, there is no support for a Khalistani movement or whatever people might think there is. Is there a distrust in the current central government? Yes, to an extent. Is there a hate for other communities or for India in general to be labelled as anti national? ABSOLUTELY NOT.
However, I have noticed this for a while now. Every single time someone who is visibly a Sikh posts anything on social media (which goes viral of course), the comments are full of "lassi this lassi that". When I was a kid and played video games online, the insults I would receive were always the classic MC BC which is also a terrible thing to say, and can be discussed sometime else, now if they open my profile and see I am from Punjab, it's usually being called a Khalistani (I didn't have anyone call me lassi yet, as I only spent 2 months earlier this year, and only played a handful of times, but enough number to be called a separatist).
Where did all of this come from? Why are we doing this to our own people? How insensitive can we be?

Van Basten, Marco - small review
Van Basten is one of the most prolific strikers in the game. The new one due to speed upgrade is also good for the meta.
His positioning is excellent. The new one is even better as he is faster in the correct space. Many times he is just with last defender and waiting to make a run.
Both feet with very high accuracy. Quite easy to get the ball, turn and shot either way. He has quite a good animation for long shots. Also have noticed he is more likely to do acrobatic finishing due to very high accuracy on both legs.
The new one is also good for the link up play due to high passing stats for forward and through passing.
For fox in the box playstyle there is Romario and Van Basten. They all provide exact same movement. Main difference is better dribbling with Romario and better shots with Van Basten. They both win aerial battles for some weird reason.
Missing skills with Van Basten-> sole control, probably double touch, aerial superiority, marseille turn if you like it.
I went all in for Netherlands Van Basten. The new one i dont need. I tend to do cheeky spinns though and i got him on the 2nd one.

2024.05.21 12:29 anthc004 Help with Sorcerer Bard Multiclass

I hope this is the right place to put this - my character will be soon levelling to level 9, and with 6 levels in sorcerer and 2 already in bard I need to choose a bard subclass.
We have been playing in the Odyssey of the Dragonlords setting - Arcanum World's campaign - for about 3 and a half years now. For those unfamiliar, it is an Ancient Greek-themed world that sees you become a dragon rider and fight some evil gods - classic DnD stuff.
The party consists of a chronomancy wizard (broken as hell), a gorgon oath of ancients paladin, and my character: a shadow sorcerer changeling with a few levels in bard. Our DM has been incredible at facilitating where we want our characters to go, and I have managed to make my sorcerebard a very effective gish. My character has a solid AC because of some mithril armour (boosted by Haste and shield), an amulet of health, and a dancing sword (bonus action attack). We replaced the hound of ill omen level 6 sorcerer feature with the hexblades charisma attack/ damage feature so my melee skills are pretty good. This combined with the amulet of health and AC means I can fight effectively in the centre of battle and hold my own with the paladin: throwing out fireballs and bonus action slicing people with th dancing sword.
If I was power gaming I would have levelled into paladin, got some smites and called it a day. However, my character is in love with the goddess of music and so bard made a lot of thematic sense, and also gave me access to the very powerful 'boreal harp' which has access to control weather, conjure animals, levitate etc.
With the upcoming level up, I am going to need to choose a bard subclass, and I am completely stumped. The option I have been thinking about for a while is College of Swords (my DM has agreed to tweak this so the flourishes can be used a number of times equal to my proficiency bonus rather than only use bardic inspiration). This change would make it way more viable, but I am worried about it becoming less useful down the line. Another option we discussed is College of Creation, which may be more useful for allies but cut down on how much damage I can do. College of Valor seems really boring and kind of useless. College of Eloquence would be cool but would end up not really fitting into the party aesthetic - it would end up with a bit too much main-character energy.
I am open to homebrew if it makes sense; we are playing to have fun, so as long as it seems engaging and interesting, we tend to run with it. The shadow magic of my character has flavoured all aspects of their magic: fireballs are black flame, misty step has me stepping into the shadows, inflict wounds is some form of shadowy poison, etc. If I do go with swords, how could I flavour it to feel in line with the character's darker magic as well as the Greek setting?
The intention is to resume levelling sorcerer after this level so I really only need to worry about level 3 bard characteristics. Any advice would be amazing.

Throwaway because he uses Reddit.
So, I (f16) have known a guy (let's call him Sans, m15) for 4 years. This guy has always treated me like he didn't care a bit about me and has always been pretty disrespectful to me and and to my "sister-by-heart." For the first 3-and-a-half years, he always pretty much didn't seem to care about me, and we only talked when he needed to vent or had something to share. I went to middle school with him, we were in the same class, so I saw him everyday and for the first year I even had a crush on him, in fact we dated for 9 months (6 on his behalf, but it was from November to May) before he broke it off saying he wasn't ready, something completely understandable. We've been good friends ever since, and I stayed silent through all the things he did to me over the years: touching me when we went to the cinema with a couple of his other friends, and all the shit he threw at me with his problems (family, friends, love life ecc... I never had the occasion to do the same). Long story short, he's always been the class clown, and that was all his personality in and out of school. To be clear, I also own some fault in all of this because I could've talked about those things with him, it was just never an option I thought to be worth considering.
All changed when he introduced me to my now boyfriend (18m), I had the courage to talk to him about the situation and, with the help of my sister since because of some at-the-time-recent drama he blocked my number, I sent him a message that contained all the anger I kept inside and ended the friendship ultimately. It was August 2023.
After that, I continued to talk about it to both my boyfriend and his mom (basically my second mom, I'm really close with her) and what came up it that the mother of one of Sans' best friends told my bf's mother that Sans was head over heels for me. I didn't believe it at first, since two years prior he advices me to stop "flirting" with him or he'd end the relationship, but this thing is also supported by the fact that, as far as I knew, he still kept an old note I gave to him back in the first year of middle school with something sweet written on it, I don't really remember what.
Now, a couple of days ago (so May 19th) he showed up at my house at 10pm completely changed: he looked totally different, had a perm, seemed more contained, a bit better dressed and actually had the balls to apologize to me AFTER I apologized first in an Instagram story, explaining that I've changed and I'm not immature anymore, and that I was sorry to all the people that I was an ass to in the past. Fortunately my boyfriend was there that night or I don't know how I would've handled it. We shook hands and declared peace. Now, he's started to say hi on the bus again.
My question is, how do I handle him coming back out of the blue? I've got a completely different life now, new social circle he'd hate to hang out with ecc..., so I really don't know that to do. I don't even know why I accepted his apology in the first place tbh.

Hi, recently switched to a rifleman and I want to share my thoughts as well as hear your opinion on the subject if you have some experience with this build/weaponry.

Unyielding, mainly energy weapon based.
I'm living on popcorn, purified water (used to overeaters pa), company tea and eventually canned coffee.
I do not pretend to be able to deal the same damage as a true meta build. And i accept the limit of unyielding (radiation zones/damage, some particular daily ops combo).
Still I aim to a certain degree of efficiency to deal with my way of playing.. soloing expeditions, being able to carry an event if necessary and classic endgame stuff.
I'm not interested in free aim, vats based.
My equipment is mainly based by 4+1 weapons:
I would prefer something like Anti Armor to be not linked to enemy life but it's fine. Enclave plasmas puck a punch in any way you build them.. strong, smooth fast reload, with severe beta capacitor the ammo capacity goes from 9 to 15. Only true issue is stealth (as all the energy weapons) and the high ap cost. But as rifleman, is sustainable.
-Bloody/50 hit chance/25 Laser rifle: I use the snappy receiver (or whatever it is) for keeping a nice rate of fire. I tried the aligned sniper barrel but.. that stuff seemed a bit crap to me, not just the reduced ammo capacity (from 30 to 9) but the fact that it doesn't seem to really compensate that with an increase on damage, on paper looks fine but using it.. no no. Probably bounded to the "charging". Switched to the other aligned long rifleman barrel
But on a rifleman.. wow.. this weapon seems to be made for this, powerful, with a rate of fire higher than my finger can press (63 with calibrated capacitor where 63 should be the number of ammo shoot in 10 seconds). 30 ammo capacity and a decent enough reload
It's not stealth but surely my favourite weapon with this build. With the rifleman barrel it also looks really cool and well fitted.
I hate it aesthetically.. is higher than my character..
But it also is the weapon that most makes me wonder how it works (or to best use it). My idea, using a quad, was to not lose time charging shot, just spamming. But i don't know (if someone of you have some experience I would appreciate your thoughts) how much damage do i lose not charging shot, if it would be better to completely charge at least the crit shot.
It's also a bit buggy, going 404 and not getting you sprint, stim and reload till you either bash/fire a complete charged round or switch weapon.
It seems to be mostly a problem in first person and this bugs me since Escape Artist is smoother in fp.
Finally, the most important part.. advice me on some outfit to use.. being "free" or atom shop, whatever, if you have a good combination. Right now I'm using Bos Spec ops suit with gray knit cap and gas mask with goggles. And i genuinely like it, but maybe you know some better combinations that might fit this build.
