Why does my doctor not want me to be on statin for high cholesterol at age 20?

2024.05.15 20:20 Tricky_Badger_2071 Why does my doctor not want me to be on statin for high cholesterol at age 20?

I’m 20F, height 5'4, weight 140lbs. I have a cholesterol of 252 and triglycerides at 175. I’m vitamin B12 deficient (I’m getting shots for this) and Vitamin D deficient (I was prescribed weekly supplements for this).
My high cholesterol is a result of being on antidepressants. This has happened in the past when I was on Pristiq, now I am on trintellix.
I do not eat a lot, and I eat about as unhealthily as everyone else. I love fruit and vegetables and eat them if I can afford them (good fruits and veggies are kinda expensive in the U.S.). I don’t exercise a lot, like I don’t go to the gym, but I’m almost always doing something. Whether I’m on my feet for 8 hours at work, or running errands, or out on adventures with my bf. Sometimes I’m lazy in bed, and then I rest for the day, but the next day I’m back up doing stuff.
My primary care wants me to speak to a cardiologist to see what can be done before she prescribes me statin, but she does not want me on them.
Everywhere I’ve read, it says they’re perfectly fine for young people and that the chance of them causing harm are like 11%. Why would it be so awful to be on statin??
For context, I’ve been on 9 antidepressants and trintellix is the only one to have ever helped me with no awful side effects (except I guess for hightened cholesterol). It’s helped me a lot with severe self harm urges and I feel happier and better. I’m pretty devastated that I might have to get off this antidepressant just because of my stupid cholesterol, and then be stuck with this awful depression for the rest of my life.
Is statin really so bad?

Found this in southern Utah
Can’t decide if it’s mugwort or absynth wormwood or some sort of cypress. It came from a bush a couple feet tall.

2024.05.15 20:15 Electrical_Caramel54 Mom’s spending

My parents are early 60s, so I’m thinking of the future. Neither of my parents is in great health, so it’s a constant update of doctor visits and med changes. Nothing really life threatening, but definitely a lot of little things.
My dad still works for a major corporation making low six figures. He’s worked there for decades. They have good health insurance. But my dad has a tooth infection, and they have had to max out credit and pawn some stuff, just to pay for the dentist. It’s criminal considering they have dental insurance, but he’s already maxed out benefits for the year.
I guess this has me thinking about the future. They have no savings, and have borrowed against retirement a few times. I’m not sure how much they have left. My mom’s health makes it impossible to hold a job outside of the home. At this point, they don’t believe my dad will ever be able to retire. But he may eventually have no choice.
Anyway, my mom has a spending problem. She doesn’t buy huge things, but lots of little things. Instead of buying my daughter one outfit, she will buy ten. Tons of shoes that she can’t wear because they hurt her feet. Random things for me that say “daughter” on them. Knick knacks, magnets, tshirts I’ll never wear. I appreciate that she wants to “spoil” us, but when they don’t have any savings, it’s unnecessary and excessive. And at the root of why they have no money saved. Their home is paid off, but it is not a big asset.
Now with their getting older and having health issues, it is becoming clear that I may end up having to care for one or both of them. And if they have nothing to support them, I am going to be left in charge financially. And I am not prepared for that. My husband and I are making moves for future security, but we don’t have it yet. And I’m really worried what will happen to them if I can’t take care of them.
I don’t know how to talk to my mom without sending her into a depression spiral (she is extremely sensitive to anything she perceives as criticism and will basically think I’m saying I hate her and want nothing to do with her ever again)
I know she wanted to be the grandparent that spoils her grandkids, but I really don’t think she’s thinking of the future.

2024.05.15 20:10 namitanathani Rant

So I came to India to meet my dad, He collapsed, was resuscitated, has chronic heart failure with no surgical interventions so far, I e come back after a really long time, had this not happened I would have never wanted to come to this town, not only am I looking after dad, talking to all relatives, trying to recover his defaults, managing his finances, talking to lawyers, notary people , going to corporation, getting almost all legal documentation sorted for which dad always procrastinated, all his different bank accounts, making sure there is a nominee, his stock market, getting a registered will done , negotiating with a partner who is almost occupying 1400 Sq feet area for peanuts and talking to CA, so that my parents can sort their life out, I cried once amongst all this in front of my mom which made her anxious for next 2 days, I don’t know what am I doing, it’s too much to handle, I can’t see my dad like this and as angry as I am at all wrong financial decisions he has take. I can’t tell him anything, I can’t tell anyone anything, I have to be strong and I am overwhelmed beyond my capacity. I don’t want anything to happen to my dad, I can’t even fly him out in this condition, some relatives have really come through, I cry when I am alone, and put an outburst here, I am exhausted and burnt out emotionally and physically and mentally. I Wish my parents could actually borrow some years out of my life. Just when I felt accomplished enough, this happened, why did this happen? Idk if you can’t make my life easier, maybe give me little more strength god, cause this feels beyond me. Thy daughter.

2024.05.15 20:09 No_Excitement5215 Feedback on My Script Snippet

INT. ROADSIDE - DAY
Exhausted, Mark drags his feet along the dusty roadside under the harsh sun. His face, streaked with sweat. He pauses, gasping for breath, and leans against a faded road sign: "WELCOME TO PINE BARRENS, NEW JERSEY."
Gathering his strength, he trudges onward. Up ahead, salvation — a lonely rental car glistens under the sun as Mark approaches the rental car, he spots CASSIE BROWN(25), a picture of weariness, her eyes shut, using a magazine to fan herself in the stifling heat. With a sudden pound on the window, Mark startles her awake
CASSIE
(shocked)
What the hell?
MARK
Get out here.
Mark storms to the trunk of the car, dropping a heavy jack with a clunk. He crouches to inspect the damage—a mangled wheel that speaks of recent troubles. Cassie, catching her breath, joins him.
MARK You completely fucked this wheel up.
CASSIE
It’s not my fault.
MARK
Yeah?
CASSIE
Yeah.
MARK
(sarcastic)
Alright, whose fault is it then? ‘Cause I sure as hell wasn’t driving. And God definitely wasn’t behind the wheel, because if he was, we’d probably be riding on fucking clouds instead of sitting ducks on this godforsaken road!
CASSIE
First of all, do not yell me. I did not see the fucking pot hole, okay? Can you fix it?
MARK
Yes.
CASSIE
Good, please do so. So we can get the hell out of Jersey and away from each other.
MARK
Sounds like a plan.
(starts to rummage through the trunk)
I’m just saying, I would’ve never fucked up this bad.
Mark grabs a tire iron and a lug wrench. He props up the car with the jack with precision, aligning it methodically. His movements are deliberate, each action punctuated by his simmering anger. He then begins to unscrew the wheel with the lug wrench, each turn a release of pent-up frustration. Cassie turns to him, her eyes narrowed in disbelief.. She's had enough.
MARK What?
CASSIE
(bitingly)
You are a self-righteous prick!
MARK
(dismissively)
Hmm. Yep. Okay.
CASSIE
Act like you don't care, but it's true. You are a complete ass. With a grunt of effort, Mark yanks the last bolt free and tosses the mangled wheel aside. It clatters against the asphalt.
MARK
(turning abruptly)
Great. Is there anything else you'd like to bitch about!? CASSIE (sarcastic) I'm bitching.
MARK
Yep. Honey, you caused this—
CASSIE (snapping fiercely) Don't 'honey' me! Who do you think you are?
MARK
(leaning in, voice low and harsh)
I will honey you all day and fucking night.
Their voices rise, each word sharper than the last. They stand inches apart, pointing accusing fingers at each other, oblivious to the world around them. Cars whiz by, their drivers glancing briefly at the heated show unfolding by the roadside.
[I'd love a little feedback, as I write I'm content that everything I write sucks, so it'd be nice to know it doesn't.]

2024.05.15 20:09 madssaysugh Am I doing too much?

Nanny here. It sort of seems that there is an impression that nannies have a lot of downtime during the day, and this seems to be a big rational behind the low salary standard within childcare. I do not understand this impression at all, I personally am lucky if I have 30 minutes to myself just for lunch as I really have to make an effort to carve out time for myself during the day to sit down and take a break. I guess I’m wondering if this is really the norm for nannies or if I am just doing too much for too little.
Between dishes, cooking, laundry, folding, cleaning, engaging with the children, keeping them busy, getting them to and from school and activities, and going to the park, there is hardly any spare time to organise crafts or anything else, let alone sit down even just to eat lunch. There is never any situation where I would be sitting back relaxing while the kids play (they don’t watch TV with me) as there is just never enough time in the day to do everything that needs to be done. If the kids are playing independently, I am doing chores, and if I am not doing chores, I am directly engaging with the kids. I find myself skipping lunch often, at least once a week, just to keep up with the chores and manage enough meaningful time to engage with the kids. I end up on my feet working 9 ½ hour days with no breaks at all far too often (no I do not count the 5-10 minutes I sit down at the park as a break because it is not, I am on my toddlers’ asses the entire time we’re there so I’m lucky if I get to sit down at all).
I understand that many nannies probably are not responsible for as much as I am, but I know many nannies are and many are responsible for even more than I am. I understand that childcare jobs do often ask to waive break rights. When I worked at a preschool I waived my 15m breaks too, but I always received a 30m-1h lunch break in which I was free to do what I please.
I have managed to time the chores perfectly so that I have 30 minutes at lunch to myself, but if there are any extra chores tacked on like grocery shopping, marking cards for family, or if the kids need extra attention in the morning, my break disappears. Just today I was asked to return some rental suits (one of them was for one of the kids so it technically fell under my purview and I’m not one to argue) and of course they asked me to do it while the kids are asleep and their grandma is at home bc they don’t want the kids alone with their grandma, ultimately taking up my time for lunch. Anyway, I just do not feel that I am being paid enough to work this hard and I worked very very hard for my raise that brought me to just $4 above minimum wage.
It’s been two years of this now. When I first started, I mentioned to my employers that it was too much for me to do all of these chores, actively engage with the children, and still have an opportunity to take a break, and they literally just said “we expect you to be able to do all of this, you need to just do it all faster.” I needed this job and it was the best paying job I could find at the time in the area I needed a job in, so I couldn’t really just leave, and when I told them I would need to be paid more, they said they would just pass on hiring me. The first several months I maybe took 1-2 lunch breaks a week. As I have grown more efficient and developed my schedule, I have managed to take real breaks more regularly but it is still a battle every day just to sit down at any point.
I’m young (25), full of energy, type A, and passionate about this job which is the only way I’ve survived the past two years. I get that I shouldn’t accept a job for less than I think I’m worth but there doesn’t seem to be a plethora of positions offering salaries I would truly accept. I am leaving this position and relocating in two months to find a better paying position that gives me a more balanced schedule during the day. I guess I would like to know if this is a shared experience or if I just took on too much with this position. For those of you who work this hard too, what are you paid? I’m trying to gage what I should be expecting to earn going forward to take on this many responsibilities. On top of all of this, I also am trained in and follow RIE, Montessori, Reggio Emilia, and gentle caregiving. I have 5 years experience as a preschool teacher’s assistant and now two years as a private full time nanny (along with 10 years as a babysitter). I certainly do not think that I personally deserve to be paid more than other nannies, but I have trouble believing that the work I do and the experience I have is not worth a much more competitive salary just because I’m young and childcare is something that I naturally am good at and enjoy.
Anyway I’d appreciate any thoughts, advice, or shared or opposing experiences from other nannies or employers.

2024.05.15 20:06 ScarHydreigon87 How to play Kamen Rider Ghost in D&D

Today, we’re building Kamen Rider Ghost, AKA Tenkuji Takeru. This is my 4th entry on building Kamen Riders in D&D.
Let’s start off with our goals for this build. First, we need to be immortal, or at least have ways to be better at avoiding death. Second, we need to be good at punching and being slippery and elusive like a spirit. Lastly, we need to make sure we can help enrich the lives and spirits of our friends.
For stats, we’ll be using Point Buy. Roll for stats if you want, just keep your Dexterity and Wisdom high.
15 Dexterity, as you are pretty quick and acrobatic as a Rider
15 Wisdom, as you are very insightful and know how people are feeling
13 Constitution, as Riders need to be tough
10 Charisma, you are pretty persuasive and very kind, we’ll get some skills to help out.
10 Strength, as while Riders are very strong, you’re still a young man.
And 8 Intelligence, you do know a lot about spirits, but you spent most of your life in a temple, not a university.
For Race, Takeru was a human killed by a Ganma on his 18th birthday and brought back to life, so we’ll make him a Reborn Human. You either get +2 to one stat and +1 to another, or +1 to three stats. We’ll actually go with +1 to three stats, rounding out our Wisdom, Dexterity, and Constitution. You get Ancestral Legacy, giving you proficiency in 2 skills of your choice. Persuasion and Animal Handling would be my picks. You also get Deathless Nature, giving you advantage on saving throws against poison and disease, resistance to poison damage, advantage on death saving throws, you no longer need to eat, drink, breathe, or sleep, magic can’t put you to sleep, and you can finish a long rest in only 4 hours instead of 8. Lastly, you get Knowledge from a Past Life, letting you add a d6 to any Skill check you make an amount of times equal to your proficiency bonus per long rest. Take the Acolyte Background for Insight and Religion as you are the heir to a Shinto Temple.
We’ll kick things off as a Monk, as you were trained in martial arts by your father. 1st Level Monks get 2 skills from the Monk List. Acrobatics and History would be my picks. You also get proficiency in a set of Artisan’s tools. Go for Calligrapher’s Tools as they’re the best ones. You get Unarmored Defense, making your AC 10 plus your Dexterity and Wisdom modifiers when you’re not wearing armor, and you get Martial Arts, letting you use Dexterity instead of Strength for your unarmed attacks or Monk weapons, and they use a d4. You can also make an extra unarmed attack as a bonus action.
2nd Level Monks get Ki, letting you start tapping into your Rider powers. You get Ki points equal to your Monk level that recharge on a short or long rest to augment your abilities. Flurry of Blows lets you spend a ki point to make 2 unarmed strikes as a bonus action after you attack instead of just one. Patient Defense lets you spend a ki point to Dodge as a bonus action, and Step of the Wind lets you spend a Ki point to Dash or Disengage as a bonus action, along with doubling your jump distance for a turn. You also get Unarmored Movement, giving you 10 extra feet of movement speed while unarmored. You also get the option of Quickened Healing, letting you use your action to spend 2 ki points to heal yourself equal to your Martial Arts die plus your proficiency bonus. Lastly, you get the option of Dedicated Weapon, which allows you to make any weapon that isn’t heavy that you’re proficient with into a Monk weapon, in case you wanna wield the GanGun Saber.
3rd Level Monks can pick a Monastic Tradition, and Way of the Long Death is fitting for one who’s experienced death. You get Touch of Death, letting you gain Temporary Hit Points equal to your Wisdom Modifier plus your Monk level whenever you reduce a creature to 0 HP.
3rd level Monks also get Deflect Missiles, letting you use your reaction to reduce the damage taken from a ranged weapon attack equal to 1d10 plus your Dexterity Modifier and Monk level. If this damage is reduced to 0, then you can spend a ki point to throw it back at the enemy.
Bouncing over to Cleric for a few levels, as you are of the Shinto faith. We’ll go with Grave Cleric, as it deals with life, death, and easing spirits, and is much more morally sound than Death Cleric. You get Circle of Mortality, letting you heal the maximum amount whenever you cast a healing spell to restore someone from 0 HP, and you learn the Spare the Dying Cantrip, which you can cast as a bonus action and has a 30 foot range. You also get Eyes of the Grave, letting you detect undead such as the Ganma within 60 feet of you as an action an amount of times per long rest equal to your Wisdom modifier.
For your Cantrips, Guidance and Resistance are excellent for helping out your friends, giving them a d4 to add to Ability Checks and Saving Throws, respectively, and Thaumaturgy is useful to give your attacks and transformations special effects. For your spells, you can prepare an amount of spells equal to your Cleric level plus your Wisdom modifier, so 4. Take Protection from Evil and Good, Cure Wounds, Shield of Faith, and Sanctuary. You also get the spells Bane and False Life from the Grave Domain List.
2nd Level Clerics get Channel Divinity once per short or long rest that you can use for 3 different effects. Turn Undead lets you use your action to force Wisdom saves on Undead creatures within 30 feet of you, and on a failure, they’re forced to run away from you. Harness Divine Power lets you use a bonus action to regain a spell slot of a level equal to half your proficiency bonus. Lastly, as a Grave Cleric, you can use Channel Divinity for Path to the Grave, letting you use an Action to mark a creature within 30 feet of you, and having them take twice as much damage from any attack they receive, perfect for setting up a finisher. For your spell at this Level, take Healing Word.
Back to Monk, 4th Level Monks get an Ability Score Improvement or a Feat. Take the Eldritch Adept Feat for the Mask of Many Faces Eldritch Invocation, letting you cast Disguise Self at will so you can transform. Alternatively, if you have an item like the Hat of Disguise that already lets you do that, then take the Weapon Master feat for +1 to Strength and proficiency in 4 Martial Weapons of your choice to better represent the GanGun Saber and its other forms.
5th Level Monks get a pretty big power spike. First, you get Extra Attack, letting you Attack twice in one turn, or 4 with Flurry of Blows. Second, you get Stunning Strike, letting you spend a Ki point when you attack to force a Constitution saving throw of 8 plus your Proficiency bonus and Wisdom modifier. On a failure, they are stunned until the end of your next turn, giving advantage on all attack rolls against them. Third, you get the option of Focused Aim, letting you spend 1-3 ki points when you miss an attack roll, adding +2 to the roll for every point spent to better guarantee your punches land. Lastly, your Martial Arts die increases to a d6 for slightly stronger hits.
6th Level Monks get Ki-Empowered Strikes, making your unarmed attacks Magical. 6th Level Long Death Monks get Hour of Reaping, letting you use your action to force Wisdom saving throws on creatures within 30 feet of you. On a failure, they are frightened of you until your next turn.
7th Level Monks get Evasion, meaning when you make a Dexterity Saving throw to avoid taking damage, you take no damage on a success, and only half as much on a failure. You also get Stillness of Mind, letting you use your action to end an effect of Charmed or Frightened on yourself.
8th Level Monks get another Ability Score Improvement. Bump your Dexterity for better AC and damage.
9th Level Monks get Unarmored Movement Improvement, letting you run up walls and on water as long as you end your turn on stable ground.
10th Level Monks get Purity of Body, making you immune to poison and disease. Your Unarmored Movement also increases to 20 feet.
11th Level Long Death Monks obtain Mastery of Death, letting you spend a Ki point whenever you drop to 0 HP to instead drop to 1 HP. This has no limitations as long as you have Ki points to spend, so while you may have died many times throughout the show, your plot armor and will to live will constantly keep you up. Your martial Arts die also increases to a D8.
12th Level Monks get another Ability Score Improvement. Cap your Dexterity for better AC and the hardest punches.
13th Level Monks get Tongue of the Sun and Moon, letting you understand and speak all languages. The power of friendship and kindness transcends all linguistic barriers.
14th Level Monks get Diamond Soul, giving you proficiency with all saving throws, as your power becomes great enough to excel in almost all situations. Your Unarmored Movement also increases to 25 feet.
15th Level Monks get Timeless Body, meaning you no longer suffer the frailty of old age. Your resurrection basically kept you forever 18.
16th Level Monks get our last Ability Score Improvement. Bump up your Wisdom for better AC and Ki save DC, as well as another Cleric spell you can prepare. Take the spell Command.
17th Level Long Death Monks get Touch of the Long Death, letting you use an action to touch a creature and spend anywhere from 1-10 ki points. That creature must make a Constitution saving throw or take 2d10 Necrotic damage per ki point spent on a failure, half as much on a success. Combine this with Channel Divinity and watch the numbers go up. Your Martial Arts die also increases one more time to a d10.
Our Capstone is the 18th Level of Monk, and you can now have your Mugen Damashii with Empty Body, letting you spend 4 Ki points as an action to turn invisible and giving you resistance to all but Force damage for 1 minute. Keep in mind that being Invisible gives you advantage on attack rolls and enemies disadvantage on attacks against you. You can also spend 8 ki points to cast the Astral Projection spell on yourself to truly venture into the spirit realm. Lastly, your Unarmored Movement increases one more time to 30 feet.
Now that we’ve hit Level 20, let’s go over the strengths of this build. First, you are slippery and hard to take down with 19 AC, Evasion, proficiency in all saving throws, and Empty Body, with Mastery of Death keeping you up in the fight. You also can dish out a crazy amount of damage with Path to the Grave and Touch of the Long Death, dealing upwards of 220 average damage with 10 ki points spent. Lastly, you have some good low-level Cleric spells to help support your team.
For weaknesses, you can burn through your Ki Points very quickly, especially as a Long Death Monk. Between Flurry of Blows, Mastery of Death, Focused Aim, Empty Body, and Touch of the Long Death, 18 can easily become 0 before you know it. You also have below-average HP for a frontline fighter at around 143 average, meaning that despite your resistances and evasion, enough damage can still bring you down. In addition, you also have only three 1st level spell slots and 1 use of Channel Divinity per day, so you need to use them wisely. Last, but not least, you're playing a fairly barebones build. Outside of your subclass features, you’re basically playing a standard Monk with a few spells and immortality tricks, which I guess is poetic given that Ghost is a fairly barebones season. And just like Ghost, it’s not terrible by any means, just not as feature-heavy as other Riders

2024.05.15 20:04 RealisticTough4465 Feeling discouraged and seeking advice

For context I am 5’ 3” female, 32, CW: 182 GW:130ish. My 500 calorie tdee deficit = 1300. I have been weighing and tracking in MFP for a month. I have my Apple Watch and MFP connected so it does add some calories from exercise back in. I have not lost a single pound this whole month. Sitting at exactly 182.2 for 4 straight weeks no up or down. Does this mean 1300 is actually my maintenance? Can that even be possible? I have an active job on my feet, average 12K steps/day, go to barre classes regularly and get 45-120 mins of exercise a day except for Sunday… on that note I try to track on weekends still but I’m not as diligent and will have a few alcoholic drinks but if I know I go over 1300 I cut back a few days that week… I feel famished on 1300 cals when I exercise and work. I get around 100g of protein a day. It’s discouraging because most people lose weight quickly in the beginning and the scale isn’t budging for me! Should I not factor in exercise and stick to 1300 cals when I’m exercising? What would you do? Open to any advice or encouragement. This is not easy!

2024.05.15 20:01 MurkyEyed Lower eye pinch

Top pic - at rest
Middle pic - smiling with no teeth
Bottom pic - full smile with teeth
I’ve always had deep set eyes with hollows so a few years ago I got tear trough filler (I know, I know lol). It did help the hollows for sure and I’ve had no issues (migration, bumps, etc.), but I think it’s unfortunately caused more under eye wrinkling as I definitely didn’t have so many wrinkles when smiling before (not referring to crows feet). And, now I’m starting to get a few static wrinkles under my eye left eye! I’m thinking I should get it dissolved and do a fat transfer instead with a lower pinch. Anyone had a similar procedure before that can give advice or insight? The excessive wrinkles are keeping me from smiling and I HATE that!! 😫

2024.05.15 19:59 RestlesslyWizardly AITA for confronting my best friends hypocrisy about our respective relationships

I moved across the country from a really bad home to live with my friends who’s a trans man and his mom. I’m so grateful for them helping me get on my feet. I got a boyfriend recently and it’s been utterly wonderful to finally start rebuilding myself a bit and finding outlets of joy but recently my best friend has started being SO snarky and dismissive of my bf and has been going to his mom to talk to her about him and me in a negative way. Reposting things online about how he hates hearing about a bf and he doesn’t want his friends bringing their bfs around him and it’s tacky.
For context I’m F20 my best friend is M18, I see my bf M22 about once a week. I’m sometimes on my phone texting around my best friend because my bf has a time consuming job so we do try and talk at nights or mornings which happens to be when my best friend is asleep but sometimes I do text my bf throughout the day for check ins.
While on the other hand my best friend is in a long distance relationship and is non stop on the phone or calls or anything actively ignoring me in the room. Just always on his phone non stop. I’ve let it slide because I know his partner brings him so much joy even though trying to speak to him it’s always about a fight they had or whatever.
The complaining started right after we spent 4 days (only during the day for a few hours) with my bf and my best friends other friends, at a convention.
When I say I’m going to see him I get eye rolls and overhear him complaining to his part er on the phone, his mom tells me to be basically more mindful of my friend, ect. This caused me to get defensive with his mom and ask why they make it sound like I’m bringing my bf over every day, blowing off plans, and constantly ignoring my best friend and his mom just said that’s between me and my friend. When asking him he just literally ignored me point blank and I’ve been quietly stewing about it.
I’ve spent a lot of time going out of my way to make my best friend know I’m there and caring and present when we hang out. I’m there for all his relationships issues and actively ask about his relationship because I know his partner makes him happy. I’m wondering what I can change to make him feel more seen and in touch with our friendship but it honestly hurts seeing him start reposting things online talking about leave your man at home no one wants him around and other things like that.
AITA for getting defensive over something I don’t think I’m in the wrong for? Am i unintentionally neglecting my closest friend?

2024.05.15 19:58 Darko-iGrad Enrich.org - Financial Wellness Program Best Practices Guide

Financial Wellness is a broad spectrum of human experiences, including physical health, mental wellness, personal development and financial life. Wellness is not just about focusing on what’s wrong in these areas and treating the symptoms, it is about being proactive and making lifestyle choices now that can have a huge impact in the future. Recent health and wellness initiatives have been designed by businesses, government agencies, schools and other organizations. The reason is simple: a healthier individual is a happier individual and a happier individual is good for everyone.
Developing a financial wellness program can be both easy and hard depending on two things: the size of your workforce and availability of resources. For companies where money is not a problem, it’s not difficult to marshal resources and implement a financial wellness program. However, not all companies are afforded those luxuries. Most operate with limited budgets and a shortage of staff. This resources offers comprehensive step-by-step instructions on the best way to develop and implement a financial wellness program. In addition, it suggests the possible ways Enrich can help get your program on its feet. Remember, no matter how limited your resources, if done correctly, a financial wellness program can have a positive and lasting impact on your employees—helping them live healthier stress-reduced lives and helping you increase profits and productivity.

2024.05.15 19:53 C4Cheats 5 Year Old Simmonds Avocado Tree

5 Year Old Simmonds Avocado Tree
I have been worried about this tree since last September. In picture 3 the tree the tree fell over after a hurricane. Basically the soil was so soft and I found out at this time there is no roots going to the side of the lean. I thought I lost the tree, and it was not growing correctly.
Now 9 months later the tree is atleast 2 feet taller, and has way more branches and much fuller. The main branch is atleast 12-14 feet tall.
The wooden support is for shaping. The brach it is supporting was going up but got to big and started to sag. My goal is for this to be a shade tree, and it is important to me to have it going up to create the canopy. The green stakes are doing nothing. One is not attached and the other has a rope that is loosely connected to the tree, but it is not doing anything. It’s just there in case the tree starts to lean again and it will catch it.
I am also taking better care of the lawn and tree because I am home more. The pictures after the hurricane are a tad embarrassing because I normally take better care than that.
My question for you all, should I be worried about the root configuration? Should I seek professional guidance to encourage the tree to grow a more stable root? Or since the tree is growing, let it be? The two roots that are close to the service are sizable.
I am in south Orlando if that matters.

2024.05.15 19:51 RVAIsTheGreatest Thumbs Up, Thumbs Down, or Thumbs Across on Cody Williams

Former Colorado G/F Cody Williams, a McDonald's All American and top 5-10 recruit in the 2023 class, entered the NBA Draft and is all in: https://twitter.com/wojespn/status/1782484315122614490 Cody missed 13 games this season with wrist, eye, and ankle injuries and after a very strong start to his season, which saw him skyrocket to the top 5 of mocks with some flirtations with the #1 overall pick, he cooled down and has seen his stock mostly sit from around the end of the top 10 to mid-teens.
Williams measured in at 6'6.5 without shoes and 7'1 wingspan at the combine. He's about 6'8 in shoes, and combined with his awesome wingspan and reach, is fantastic size for a combo forward. His wingspan is central to some of his biggest strengths as a prospect. On the downside, he only weighed in at 178. He's a thin guy with a thin frame and he'll likely always be on the thinner side. Strength is a big concern of his as a prospect, both as a player and in terms of his ability to remain durable throughout an 82 game season.
Williams is a good athlete. His athleticism is a little distinct from many. He's very fluid and light on his feet as an athlete. He has very good body control in the air. He can really jump with a little space and when on the move. But he doesn't have tremendous pure burst/explosiveness from a standstill. He has good quickness and accelerates through the gears quickly and the fact he's light on his feet and has good timing as a driver makes his first step a decent one, but he doesn't have an elite top gear.
Williams not having elite burst and being on the frail side means he's not too much of a pure self-creator at the moment. When he gets to the rim, it's usually in translation, off rips from the perimeter, out of DHO/PNR's on ball, or off curls and screens off the ball. He gets to the rim off designed actions and he gets to the line at a decent rate on these actions, but not much off his own creation.
Williams was a fantastic finisher at the rim this year. He gets great extension around the rim. He takes long strides as a driver. He's really light on his feet as a driver. He will change speeds, give a defender a hesitation move before attacking out of the PnR and does a good job slithering his way to the rim. He's decisive when he decides to catch and rip from the perimeter and has really good timing as a driver. His timing, his stride length, solid quickness and fluidity makes him hard to contain when he's catching and taking it to the rim off spot ups, he's a fantastic finisher on these plays, and he's very good off curls/screen actions designed to get him downhill; his size, his strides/quickness, timing, means he's usually gaining advantages on defenders he faces. The extension he gets around the rim, and his very soft touch with floaters and hooks around the rim, gives him a lot of range around the rim to finish. He has fantastic ability to adjust in the air. Very good body control. He can finish with up and unders around the rim. He can start his flight to the rim from pretty far out and he generates contact that way...it makes his shots difficult to contest around the rim.
Williams is also an awesome cutter. A lot of his cuts for baskets were off designed plays. He does a great job reading when his defender is ball watching, does a great job manipulating defenders into creating opportunities for himself for cuts to the basket, and he dives quickly to the basket. He has great instincts as a cutter and find his way into a few easy baskets a game.
He has mismatch potential in the post with his size/length. He has nice footwork in the post. He likes turning into the basket and taking a hook/floater and his touch is also excellent on these shots. This is a part of his game that could be leveraged a bit more at the professional level and as he gains strength.
Williams isn't an awful ballhandler but he's not a great one either. He can handle in transition and he can bring the ball up and facilitate. He's not that great when handling the ball in tight spaces and can be insecure. He doesn't have a tremendous amount of shake. He does have a deceptive crossover that allows him to gain space but he doesn't have a ton of shake outside of that. He has a nice spin move and has some impressive possessions breaking free from a defender with the spin move, but he can overuse it. He's right hand dominant as a driver and will spin back to his right on left drives. He gets stripped using the spin move or stripped looking to drive down the middle of the lane quite a bit. He will get cut off on drives because he's unable to gain separation. The combination of his only average handle, lack of strength, and pedestrian burst I think is partially responsible for his passivity on the offensive end. He doesn't have a ton of middle game at this point; he's a mediocre pull-up shooter. He's fantastic in transition with his athleticism and his ability to both push it with the ball and be a play finisher, but he's just not a halfcourt self-creator. The question is whether or not people feel this is a part of his game that he can develop in the years ahead. Because his ceiling on the offensive end hinges quite a bit on this part of his game taking a jump.
He does get to the rim out of the PnR. As said above, he does a nice job slithering to the rim out of the PnR. Plays under control and is able to maneuver his way to the basket. He finds rollers out of the PnR and he can make the skip pass. He is a fair drive and dish option. He's not an advanced playmaker or passer but has some flashes. He moves the ball well and he does a pretty good job getting his team into offensive sets as a facilitator. He will find cutters as a facilitator from the key. He turned the ball over too much...had a fair few miscommunications with teammates, lazy/poor passes, and he's not strong enough with the ball right now. He will get bumped off spots when looking to drive and not be able to get to the rim. He gets pushed away from the rim on drives a decent amount but his length still allows him to finish on a lot of these drives; but it also makes him more vulnerable to turnovers as defenders can take away his air space and force him into picking up his dribble.
Williams has a mechanically sound shot and 41.5% from 3 but only on 1.5 attempts. He shot 71% from the FT line. He is elite in the C&S. He's someone who needs a little space to gather his footwork but he does a good job at making himself a presentable target from the perimeter and hitting the open looks. He's not the most dynamic shooter currently, but I do think the C&Sing is for real, and combined with his secondary creation ability and ability to make plays off closeouts, he's someone who's a solid option as an off ball scorer.
Williams is not much of a rebounder for a 6'8 player. This is another red flag that many have regarding his desire to take on contact, lack of aggression and lack of physicality. He was a good defender anyway at Colorado this year....he flips his hips very fluidly. He is very light on his feet. Moves really well laterally overall, although he doesn't always react to initial moves as well as he needs to. His wingspan is of big benefit to his ability to recover when beat and contest shots. He has urgency/quickness in recovering when he's beat, but he can be beaten a little too often.
Screens can really bury him at times, but he's not a disaster in dealing with traffic/navigation. It's not a positive for him at the moment overall, which further illuminates the necessity in he gaining muscle going forward. He will at times shy away from contesting shots around the rim. He isn't super active off the ball defensively. He does a good job using his length to deter passes in passing lanes but he's not a ball hawk and he plays a pretty contained brand of defense. You appreciate the fundamentally sound nature of his defense but also believe there's defensive playmaking ability there that's gone untapped.
Cody will get pushed back on ball defensively against guys who drive into his chest. He's a really good isolation defender, and also a strong PnR defender where his length really comes to fore, he does a good job rotating and has strong overall defensive instincts, but he will give up buckets to drivers going downhill off DHO's/screens. He can't wall them off. He can be pretty jumpy on rotations...he bites on fakes and flies out of plays too often. He has moments of discipline but too many mistakes. Ball watches too often on defense. Freshman mistakes. His defense overall was good, and the upside is excellent on this end as/if he gains strength, but he can certainly be better than he was this season at Colorado.
Cody Williams had his ups and downs as a freshman at Colorado, but remains a very intriguing prospect with his physical tools, versatility on the offensive end, and ability and upside on the defensive end. I think he was clearly a bit oversold as a #1 pick. He's too much of a project on the offensive end and is simply not enough of a finished product to be a #1 selection even in a class like this. He has a lot of upside on both ends of the floor and simply gaining strength would be a huge boon for him as a player, but there are questions surrounding his mentality and whether he's someone who has the mental makeup of a star. There are questions surrounding how much strength he'll be able to add. Even with all of the questions, many view him as one of the highest ceiling prospects in this draft class. If it all comes together, you could see why that is, this season at Colorado.
Are you all Thumbs Up, Down, or Across on Cody Williams?
Note: Gonna make a post on all three Colorado prospects coming up. Everyone has their scouting report and personal opinion. I wanna cut to the chase...are you all down or up on these three. First things first with the highest rated of the three.

2024.05.15 19:50 Nikogido15 Shooting at Drakes “Embassy”

Shooting at Drakes “Embassy”
One thing that I noticed, when the police is doing the press conference outside the front gate, he talks about how the security guard was outside the gate when shot, the conference was less than a day after, and they were right outside the front gate? I don’t have any law enforcement background but I feel like they might have it taped off for a little bit longer since it is a crime scene. Then I also saw footage from above that shows the front door of drakes house taped off, why would the front door be taped off if the shooting happened more than 100 feet from the front door outside the front gate? Then combining that information, with the supposed “3 attempted break ins” in the next 3 days even though these supposed trespassers would obviously know there would be a higher security presence, they still supposedly attempted it. These attempts would obviously involve the police coming again to make an arrest. Then there was a video from the normal Kendrick reddit of a construction worker that works near by showing a video of him driving by and there was an ambulance that showed up there. For what? But I watched the video over and over and I noticed a moving truck in the side mirror of the video with people in the back. So I go on Google earth street view and you can see there is a side entrance to drakes house, right where the truck was parked, and in the video I noticed a police officer standing right at the gate as well. If you listen to “pain 1993” on dark lane demo tapes Drake says “police in my city man I keep they pockets greased up” which means he keeps the police on his payroll in Toronto. That coupled with Kendrick saying “the embassy bout to get raided it’s only a matter of time” I think Drake potentially payed off the Toronto PD, potentially staged the shootings and break ins so the police can show up, go through his house, get all the incriminating evidence out, and it’s all hidden behind the smoke screen of a “Shooting” or “break in attempt” let me know what you all think

2024.05.15 19:47 Nalaflop Advice on temporary rehousing for cats - please help

Urgent Advice Needed
To cut a very long and emotional charged story short - myself (F21), my partner (M23) and our cat, Nala, (F2 and some change) are being made homeless by our landlords in the near future. This has been sprung on us today, and we have very little time to prepare ourselves. Financially speaking, I am disabled and unable to work due to this, and my boyfriend works part time while also starting up his own business. This leaves us with little cat friendly housing options for the immediate future.
Our cat cannot come with us to any of our temporary housing options, and we have no family or friends who’d be willing or able to take her in while we find our feet again.
Does anyone know of any temporary accommodations for cats in which I’d be able to get her back at some point? I hate the thought of taking her to a rescue centre where she’d be in a cage all the time or with dogs as she’s never been around a dog before and she’d be terrified. She’s incredibly timid even with us and I know she loves us. I also don’t want to be selfish in taking her someone that would distress her (like kennels or something similar?) just so that one day I can get her back, if she’d benefit more from going somewhere permanent.
If anyone has any advice it would be massively appreciated, on both accommodation options and ways anyone knows of to minimise her stress in this period of change?

2024.05.15 19:46 blag49 Backyard drainage idea

Backyard drainage idea
We have some serious drainage issues in our backyard. We get all the runoff from the neighbour on the left and back so I want to build 2 retaining walls that have french drains going into a gravel pit. There’s some drawings of my idea towards the end of the album and I’m wondering if this would work. Would a gravel pit be able to take enough of the water or is it pointless. My thought was to dig down about 2 feet and make a 2x2x2 cube.
