unfortunately i couldn't find any similar queries to the one that I have, so I decided to address it directly to this community.
I recently installed Stremio and Torrentio and linked with Real Debrid. And everything is working as expected, which is, I can stream all the content without any issue.
I do have VPN, which is usually active. But in case the VPN is not active, then I'm afraid that my activity with torrentio will be visible and will probably get a letter asking me to pay a hefty fine.
My questions are:
How can i be sure that the streaming content is working only with RD? Can it also happen, that torrentio can stream without any valid RD subscription? Does the Torrentio addon work, if the RD API Key is invalid?
I live in a country where the sharing copyrighted content is prohibited, so I want to make sure that the cover my tracks.

For me, it has to be the Midori MD (not MD Cotton). I love the way my blues and greens pop off the paper and how my lighter blurple shades. I'm also a big fan of the texture of the paper. It has such an awesome and unique hand feel that I find myself unable to use any other kind of paper now.

Hey guys. I am a first sem CS senior w 3.6 GPA, who is trying to pivot into Stats for grad school (MS). I wanted to hear other CS majors' stories on how their grad admissions went, and whether they felt like admission to top 5 schools after Cornell was relatively a breeze (assuming their GPA is good). One would think that having gone to a Top 10 undergrad CS School going to a T5 for grad wouldn't be much harder?
Besides, I only have 1 semester of research, which unfortunately did not result in a published paper, so I am curious if lack of published papers for Stanford-level STEM schools is ultimately a deal breaker, considering my GPA is by no means a 4.0. For more context, by the time I graduate, I will have 2 big name industry swe internships, one of which will be at a faang.

Background:
-600 visa, upto 3 months stay, for my husband and myself. We’re both Indian passport holders but live and work in the UAE
-Both have a travel history to countries in the SE Asia and Europe (I have also held an Australian tourist visa in the past but not him)
-Documents attached: Bank statements, title deed of my husband’s house in India, our salary slips, evidence of leave from our workplaces, UAE ID, UAE resident visas, investment P&L statements, cover letter (I didn’t attach this but husband did), invitation from my sister who lives in Sydney
We applied on the 13th of May, completed the biometrics on the 15th (a requirement for Indians when applying from the UAE) and received our visas this afternoon.

We at The University of Salford are conducting an experiment which is part of a project all about the design of algorithms that create electric motorcycle sounds, and we could do with some volunteers!

What is the purpose of this study?
The study is part of a project exploring and evaluating the design of algorithms which synthesise alert sounds for electric motorcycles. Traditional internal combustion engine (ICE) motorcycles are commonly loud, with a distinctive sonic character. However, electric vehicles can be significantly quieter. As such, we are investigating the design of synthetic sounds for electric motorcycles for both safety and aesthetic purposes.

Who is running the study?
The study is run by researchers from the University of Salford in the UK, in collaboration with a commercial partner.

What will happen to me if I take part?
You will be asked to complete an online survey using the link provided at the bottom of this post. You will have the right to withdraw at any time or ask for your data to be deleted for any reason.
If you choose to take part online, you will be asked to complete the survey at your convenience. However, we ask that you use headphones to audition the sounds and to take care to make sure that the sound levels are comfortable.
In this phase of the study you will be presented with the sound of an ICE vehicle. This sound may be a recording of a real vehicle or may be a simulation of an ICE.
After listening to each audio sample, you will be presented with a list of 7 scales with opposite words at extremes of the scale (e.g. “fast” and “slow”) and asked to rate the sound on each of the scales. You will be able to listen to each of the sounds as many times as you need.

What are the eligibility criteria?
Participants must be at least 18 years old.

What are the possible disadvantages and risks of taking part?
This study has been reviewed and granted approval by an ethics panel at the University of Salford.
There are no consequences for you if you decide not to take part, or later choose to withdraw your responses. You do not need to give a reason for non-participation or withdrawal.

What are the possible benefits of taking part?
The findings from this study will help us better understand how people respond to different types of engine sounds. This will help us develop acoustic alert sounds for electric motorcycles, which will likely be beneficial for pedestrian safety and to improve the soundscapes of the future.

Will my data be stored securely?
The collected data will be stored only on secure servers provided by the data collection service (Gorilla) and on password-protected university asset computers and University of Salford IT network. We will not collect any identifying characteristics such as name or address and all your responses will be anonymous. Because of this, once you have submitted all of your responses, we will not be able to identify you and withdrawing your data will not be possible.
Anonymised data will be kept as long as considered necessary by the research team to support further analysis and publication; it may also be used in future projects.

What will happen to the study results?
The findings from this study will be used to inform future research and product development related to this topic. The results will be written up in an internal report, will be shared with project stakeholders, and may be published in conference papers or academic journals. Any information made available in this way will be strictly anonymous i.e. we will never publish anything that could identify a response as coming from you personally or show that you have taken part in this study.

I was doing a bit of research for possible casette combinations and wanted to see if there are ways of decreasing my maximum gear inches, which led me to the Shimano Deore casette. However, I was a bit confused by how they are designated, because each of the different combinations is followed by a bs, bt, or bu letter combination and I am not sure if this is an abbreviation for something, or if it otherwise means anything that should make me concerned about compatibility. Haven't been able to find any information out there.
Let's say I currently have a Shimano 11-speed 11-32 casette. Would the bs, bt, or bu mean anything that is relevant for compatibility?

I’ve recently just moved to the UK from North America and currently looking for jobs. I work in a very unique field that my current city doesn’t have much to offer in terms of available jobs. That being said, I’ve recently just discovered a position at a company that I would be perfect for. I sent my application in early April, as soon as the listing went up, and worked really hard on my resume, portfolio to coincide with their company, and a cover letter. The job listing doesn’t have an end date of when they will close to applications, but I didn’t think much of this.
Fast forward to the beginning of May (two weeks later after sending my application in) and I sent a follow up email stating my continued interest in the position and asking for an update. The HR person replied saying they are still reviewing applications and that they will contact me when there is an update. Now that we’re nearing close to June (two weeks since I sent follow up email) I’m wondering if I should email again to ask the status even though they have said they will give me an update. I don’t want to be annoying but I know I would be a perfect fit for this role and really want to get an interview as I’m confident that I could make a good impression.
The job listing is currently still up on indeed and their website but again I don’t want to be annoying by contacting them again after they said they will give me an update when they have one. Or if it’s progressive and will be seen in a good light contacting them for a second time two weeks after the first follow up.

I'm in the process of emailing potential PIs and was looking for tips online to refine my email structure when I came across a lengthy post on a certain academic subreddit. Essentially, professors are whining about receiving generic cold emails, but what truly sets me off is the blatant racism and lack of empathy. These comments are from a discussion among professors: "I just ignore them; they are just trying to escape their countries." "You're so kind to bother replying; I just block and delete." There are lots of other rude comments about international students, some mentioning specific countries and even making fun of the "broken English." I'm sorry but who exactly do you think you are, and how long ago were you graduate students that you are so incredibly out of touch?
I understand that spamming professors with generic emails is disrespectful, annoying, and appears desperate; But a good number of us are taking the time to read your papers and write individual emails, because we do not have unlimited resources to apply to a million different PhD programs worldwide. We need to find out if our particular skillset is useful in your lab and if there is space for us. I cannot request a trillion letters of recommendation from my professors. I do not have $100k lying around that I can freely spend on grad program fees either. And What gives you the right to comment on an applicant's home country? TF you mean "they're just trying to get out?" I am incredibly frustrated and angry with this system that has placed my career at the mercy of such egomaniac douchebags. This is my first Reddit post. We Are in Indiana as well as it seems requirements differ so much from state to state from my research on this. My daughter has an early September birthday so although the district cut off is “August 1” we have a state cut off for “Oct 1” you are able to petition for early entrance. She has done preschool for a year and her preschool teacher did an assessment that indicates she is ready. I spoke with the district principal and he said it’s such a personal choice he can’t recommend one way or another. He also did an assessment. But we will not know those results until June 1. From my understanding these assessments are just identifying letters, shapes, colors which my child is able to do. My son is in kindergarten this year so I am well aware kindergarten is much more than this now. They learn to read,write, tell time. Honestly my mind has been blown every week with what they learn. My child wants to go to kindergarten but I guess I am worried about sending her early. I just don’t want her whole academic career to have me thinking “what if” we waited. My husband wants to do whatever the assessment indicates. I am just torn. I know so much is required of kids and I don’t want to ruin school for her for 13 years as far as making friends or feeling “too young” she is mature and plays well now with kids in her preschool that will be entering kindergarten but I know that can change. I'm wanted to make this short but I have everything to learn, and admittedly very little knowledge or experience despite all of the self-research through consuming tons of content on Kayak Fishing and PNW Fishing and want to be very clear on what it is I am asking for in terms of guidance/recommendations!

I haven't fished since I was a young kid with my grandfather - that was over 20 years ago so let's just assume I have no real bearing on what I'm doing or where to begin.
I live on the WA/OR border where the Columbia meets the Pacific and am looking to get myself setup with my first rod and tackle as I'd like to start fishing the local lakes and estuaries around me.
These are the circumstances that will affect my gear choices: 1.) My locale - Living at the literal mouth of the Columbia River (Astoria/Hammond, OR up to Ilwaco/Long Beach, WA and the surrounding areas) offers me a slew of bangers when it comes to the native fish and waterways being that there are streams, rivers, lakes, ocean, saltwater, freshwater, brackish water - blah, blah, blah - everything all at once. It's exciting, but overwhelming - with each new thing I learn, I realize how much more there is to find out. 2.) The primary use case for the gear I'm currently seeking is to fish from my Tucktec folding kayak, and ideally being able to accommodate a secondary use case of being able to pack in my rod and tackle on quick jaunts to more secluded waters in the area - I'm aware this may be where I just don't get to have the best of both worlds and may have to choose between the ability to pack it down and strap it to the side of my pack to bushwhack with and having it be an ideal rod for kayaking. I really just want to be able to grab my rod and tackle, get in my car, and be able to hop out with what I've got w/ me whenever I find myself in an area w/ a nice fishing spot that is accessible by foot or boat and just go!
I have seen some general recommendations of using around a 6.5'-8' rod on a kayak, and I most often see a 7' rod recommended - w/ the caveat of potentially adding a little length going up to 8' if fishing saltwater - given my locale, its really hard to say if I'll be in fresh, salt, or brackish water at any given time w/ all the coast, estuaries and lakes at my disposal it could really go any way. Even if I'm not kayaking out in the actual open waters of the Columbia, smaller estuaries that I might find myself in have that brackish water that I'm unsure whether to treat as fresh or saltwater when selecting gear.
Do I overcompensate as a foolproofing/failsafe measure and treat it like I'm generally fishing saltwater to handle the larger fish I'd encounter in those estuaries, or actual ocean if I'm on foot on the Washington side? Or do I go in with the intention of using a dedicated lake setup for fishing Bass, Steelhead and the smaller panfish that I'd encounter fishing Coffenbury Lake, Cullaby Lake, and other contained bodies of water and accept the fact that much like motorcycling, an "all-'rounder" or "dual sport" is more often than not underperforming and disappointing whether you're on the interstate or off the beaten path and one is usually better off just having dedicated bikes for dirt and street to really get that dialed in performance, rather than getting the worst of both worlds in one place. If that is in fact that case, then I guess I'm on the hunt for TWO rod/reel combos. One for fishing the local freshwater lakes, and a second for fishing the brackish water on the banks and estuaries.
I am trying my best to learn, but I don't know a lot about what's what seasonally as far as fishing goes, I just know prime time for bass fishing was a few months ago as it's getting warmer now. Tips on what I should be looking to fish for NOW and in the coming summefall months in this region would be greatly appreciated, I'm so eager to learn!
I know gear is subjective, and that if I take to angling, I'll end up amassing a ton of it for the changing seasons and types of fishing I take a shine to, and honestly, just for the hell of it. Right now, though? I just want to get myself a daily driver so that I can stop pulling my hair out researching and JUST GET TO CASTING OUT ON THE WATER ALREADY!
The goal is just to have enough fun in the process to not get discouraged from learning the art of angling, as I'd like it to become a staple source of communion with nature and a still chamber for reflection in my day-to-day life. I don't have any fishing buddies to offer moral support or get tips in this field, and I don't want to get myself in over my head and end up discouraged w/ gear that just sits gathering dust!
OH, and lastly on the note of the general 7' recommendation for kayak fishing, that seems to be a fairly universal ballpark on length, but I stumbled across Emmrod fishing rods - specifically the Emmrod Kayak King and the Emrod Packrod - they're funky little guys but they look bombproof, stowable, have swappable rod ends and they even have a model called the Kayak King - its only 27" assembled, half that packed, and I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with the Emmrod rods as they honestly look like they'd fit the bill for both kayaking and packing in to secluded lakes and streams for me PERFECTLY, but they go against most of what I've gleaned about kayak fishing so far being a whole 5' shy of 7' and I worry that I'm just falling blindly for the idea of the Emmrod because it's unlike anything I've ever seen in the sea of other rods I'm trying to take my pick from, and on paper it says its exactly what I'm looking for and has swappable parts making it pique my interest that much more as I just love modular systems. Someone please, SOUND OFF!

Tell me why I should not get the Emmrod and get a normal rod like a normal person, or better yet, tell me about your experience with the Emmrod and why it'd be perfect for me after all! Emmrod aside, all recommendations and tips for fishing this incredible area and what gear is going to make it an enjoyable experience for me and the fish I'm bound to meet is welcomed and encouraged!
