Jack: Personally, Jack's character is okay, but I never really liked his leadership style. His major accomplishment comes with getting everyone rescued (or at least attempting to, but it worked in the end), but that's about it for the good parts. It feels almost too rigid and authoritarian otherwise, and in some cases, can make the other survivors feel alienated. For example, in Season 3 when Juliet comes back from the Others with Jack, Jack just completely deflects any possibility that Juliet might not be with them because he trusts her, and because of that simple fact, it's somehow enough. Jack is also very hard-headed, and has gotten some of the survivors into trouble a few times. Despite this, he is a decent leader when it is needed, it's just that long-term, it doesn't really work, or when he's by himself, as he is too headstrong and authoritarian.
Sawyer: Sawyer may have been one of the best leaders. We see this mostly during his time in the Dharma Initiative as Jim LaFleur, when he was the head of security. He did this really well, actually, and he kept the Dharma Initiative pretty stable from 1974-1977. I can guarantee that if Jack ended up being the leader and not Sawyer, then it would have probably gone wrong. We can also see that Sawyer acts as a leader (in a way) when he stopped the Others from assaulting Amy. Again, if Jack was in this situation, they all would have died, because Sawyer thinks, and is actually pretty intelligent, while Jack just kind of reacts more. With the survivors, he only led for a short time, but he gives me the vibe of being a good wartime leader. He is also good at leading in his own sector in peacetime, as he did phenomenal at his job in the Dharma Initiative, and was able to make difficult decisions and keep everything stable while being fairly democratic and open.
Locke: Locke is kind of the same as Jack. Locke was a good philosophical leader that was more faith-based, and him and Jack both as leader at the same time would actually work really well if they could get along. However, Locke by himself isn't that great. His major accomplishment was discovering the hatch, which was great, until he decided to shut himself in there and blow it up. And this is where it goes wrong, as Locke seems to only care about himself and what he thinks is right, and the "sacrifice the island demanded" approach, which leads to a lot of people dying, either intentionally or unintentionally. He's a little too headstrong and self-absorbed to lead by himself.
Ben: Since Ben led the Others for a long time before the crash of the plane, it is presumed he was a good leader. His best accomplishment was simply establishing the security of the island, and improving living conditions of everyone (this doesn't take into account The Purge, but I'm leaving it out because it isn't certain who ordered it). However, my issue with Ben is his over-hostility to the survivors of the plane. I get that he wants to protect the island, but these survivors did not end up on the island on purpose, and instead of just sending them off in their perfectly good submarine, they decide to make lists and kidnap them, which backfires horribly, as this hostility eventually got 9 or 10 of the Others killed when they attempted to kidnap all of the pregnant women.
Richard: Richard seems to give off the vibes of a decent leader Every single time that the Dharma Initiative or anybody went into the Others camp during 1974-1977, instead of responding to them with hostility, he attempts to cool the situation down and at least talk, and diplomacy is very important in leadership, which is something Richard is excellent at, as he even helped establish the truce between the Dharma Initiative and the Others for several years. However, besides this, we don't see much of his leadership, as Ben does most of that, which is why he is harder to evaluate. This is also probably why criticism about his leadership comes up, which I can kind of understand.
Hurley: Hurley is great simply because of his moral compass. Unlike Jack, he doesn't just lead, he tries to lift spirits, and he tries to make things better (such as organizing a golf course and creating a food distribution system, along with finding a ping-pong table), which helps add a sense of normalcy and fun. Hurley is also much more fair and looks for alternative ways of leadership that differ from the traditional style we might get from Jack, Locke, or Ben, and his leadership is also very inclusive, allowing other ideas and people to contribute. If it was the same situation with most of these other characters, the leadership would not be inclusive. I also like his more humane perspective on things.
So in conclusion:
Jack and Locke: These two only work well as leaders when they are doing it together and not fighting (very rare), and even then it might be a little faulty.
Sawyer: Excellent wartime leader, great peacetime leader, and overall one of the best in the show.
Ben: Decent at peace times, but far too authoritarian and overly hostile during wartime.
Richard: Pretty good, as he has a seemingly good moral compass, stable leadership, and is much more diplomatic than the other leaders (at least from what we've seen), however, there isn't too much of his leadership in comparison with the others on this list.
Hurley: One of the best possible leaders during peacetime, as he does everything he can to make people feel better. However, he probably would not do as good as a wartime leader, which Sawyer would be better at.

Hello, this is my first time using reddit. Please bare with me if I make any mistakes of typing.
I've been home-schooled for about 6 years now. At first, I didn't really care because I'm like: "Yay, I'm home-schooled now") I didn't really care for going to public school because I didn't have any real friends, just acquaintances, which is pretty surprising now that I'm looking back on it. Now that the years are passing, it has been starting to affect me a lot back in 2022- 2023. I used to go on apps like yubo or Hoop to at least try and make some friends, but it never worked out for me. I always encounter rude people or dry people. Whenever I would ask them a simple question, they would always be dry like: "idk..." and then they would ghost me. Sometimes, I would try and be nice to give them a chance, but they would end up blocking me. Don't get me wrong, but I did use to have a couple of "good friends" until they started victimizing themselves and started trying to manipulate me into thinking that I'm the problem, but I was over it and blocked them.
I'm not sure what else I can even do. I try my best to be myself towards people, but I don't see anything happening...
I even get jealous when I see my own mother having fun with her friends, and I'm just sitting there. I still remember, one time, I wanted to hang out with my mother (we we're out of town), but she wanted to hang out with her friends. I got upset and told her that I wanted to hang out, but then, she got upset/slightly mad and told me that she wanted to hang out with her friends. When she said that, it really pained me that day... We are still in beta, and we seem to be the place for Veteran Pern Players to land, but we're always happy to see new faces in new spaces! So I'm writing a fun fantasy comedy and one specific character dynamic that I love is there are two avian characters in the same group and they are both flamboyant theatre kids but they hate each other, and I already know one of them, he is mostly in the receiving end of this but I have one of them be arrogant, cocky, shallow, and Pretentious. I want to give him depth but I'm stuck on whether or not to do it. Regardless of what I do he's not a flat character he's just more of being annoying because he's a narcissist, I kind of want to give him some reason for being the way he is I have a vague idea but I want some advice. I'm thinking he's like really desperate to be different and set aside from everyone else so anyone he shares anything in common with he'll start to push them away to the point of bitter resentment. But I have no idea how people work so I'm not sure if that's even realistic but I dunno what do you guys think

Making this post for any unfortunate travellers who may find themselves wanting to get the Platinum trophy for this game in 2024. Every guide or post I've found has been from a year or more ago and it seems HelloGames likes moving the goal post on this one.
I've been trying to work for the Platinum for about a week or two now - just whenever I have some free time. I got to the point where my last trophy before Platinum was the Gold trophy - The Sentinel. This requires that you attain "Everlasting" status in Extreme Survival.
So, step by step:
1) Find an Extreme planet. Any extreme planet will do; Weather or Sentinel. My advice is to not make the mistake I did. Fine an extreme Sentinel planet. No questions asked, this will make your journey a breeze in comparison to any kind of weather event.

• I have S-class hazard protection across the board and have had to recharge it about every 4 minutes.

2) Sit there. Literally just sit, in vehicle, and just leave it alone. Somewhere like a trading post or something would be ideal as I don't believe Sentinels come around there all too often.

• I've done a little bit of testing: No buildings, shelters, or self-dug holes will work. The timer stops when you're in the pause menu, and it doesn't work at all in any of these places. Unsure of caves, but based off of everything else I've seen it seems that they have been patched out too.

Expect this process in total to take about 10 -12 hours now. I still haven't finished the trophy, but I think for the first couple hours I had it running I was in a bad location/timer didn't count for whatever reason. It's no longer an 8 hour task. You're going to have to hit rank 10.
Every 1000 minutes in game = about 16.6 minutes IRL - nice. It takes about an hour and a half between every rank up.
I'm unsure if you have to stay on the same planet the entire time now - I'm too scared to leave at this point. I have a hunch that it's just everytime you're on an extreme planet the timer ticks up some more.
If anybody has any additional/updated information to provide on this topic PLEASE for the love of God put it here to make it easier for others in the future. All of the guides online now are fairly dated.

So I currently work at the Help Desk for a smaller company. We have three people on the Help Desk and then we have four System Administrator. They're all responsible for different systems or aspects of the infrastructure team.
We have a couple other teams in our IT department that are also pretty small (3-7) and they don't do anything with the infrastructure side of things.
Being that we're not a large shop, I get exposed to all kinds of systems from networking to servers to security to M365 to client setup. I've done a little bit of everything, and been given the free reign to essentially learn whichever discipline I wanted.
I've been told the work I'm doing at the Help Desk level is more like System Administrator work. Things like spinning up servers and configuring them, writing scripts for other people to use for setting up computer. Doing configuration on vSphere and creating golden images for Horizon.
This is my first job in IT after I worked in retail for ten years, but prior to this job I had a bunch of personal experience that while not directly applicable to enterprise IT definitely gave me a head start.

Do the low pay rates, deter you from wanting to stay working in the field? For a job that requires a college degree, certifications and work experience, the pay is pathetically low.
The work is fun, but wonder if I should continue with the high inflation rates. It’s a struggle to pay monthly expenses. We know we could all make way more money literally working anywhere else.

I am looking for an open-minded person (preferably from Omaha, NE, but from another state or city in the USA is also okay) with whom we will match some of the things I have written about myself below. 2 years ago (3 this november) I (21F) got together with my boyfriend (20M), hes the best guy ive ever met, I love him and hes amazing. Hes a uni student and is graduating in 2 years time. About a year ago i met his mother, shes really kind and a good mother, also about a year ago I decided to move into his dorm with him (for context, I barely have a family, most of them are dead and the family I have left have no room for me to live in - I have younger siblings and its quite overcrowded as it is.) Im currently a student too but my loans can barely cover a house, or even food at times. About 6 months into living in the dorms i got incredibly ill, and had to move to my boyfriends house with him (ofc he asked permission of his mother, and she said yes) We pay for our own food, election etc. I also clean the whole house, mainly the kitchen (They literally leave dirty plates and food EVERYWHERE) this because I dont want to feel like I'm a burden, and I want to help her out. I met his family for the first time, seemed friendly and was nice to me, until literally 2 weeks later. The main problem is the grandmother, the brothet and auntie, they literally hate me. They come over every weekend to get drunk, and I always give them lifts home, or give them lifts to places if they need, bake cakes for birthdays, etc. (Im a huge pushover, and i wanted to try do everything I can to make them like me) It was putting alot of wear and tear on my car, alot of fuel, they never gave me fuel money or anything like that (I wasnt asking for any!! I had a really old car, and last year had to get rid of it bc i couldnt afford it anymore.) I was ill one day and couldnt give them a lift, and somehow hell broke loose after that, calling me a "freeloader" and useless. One time when they were over, i was in the kitchen and the gran came in and yelled at me "Your so inconsiderate!! Your MiL does everything for you and you cant even give her a lift??!" I just apologised and ran upstairs, and gave them all lifts again. My boyfriend had to physically stop me from doing any favours. Everytime they came over they said nasty things about me and my boyfriend (for reference, my boyfriend is at fulltime uni, and doesnt work, which to me is perfectly okay, and was okay when his older brother who was doing the exact same thing when he was at uni.) They say my boyfriend is a lazy PoS and hes useless and hes an embarrassment of a son because he doesnt work. My boyfriend has really bad Emetophobia (Its gotten worse the last few months, making his uni online), he cant leave the house, and he has trust issues with his family because 1. theyre not hygenic and 2. they could be carrying bugs. Its gotten to the point he can't leave the house, which ive explained to the family COUNTLESS of times, but they dont want to understand, and still call him lazy and a PoS and he doesnt do anything apart from being useless. Im the only one helping him, and his family simply doesnt care. I sometimes listen into their conversations from the upstairs landing, this is how i hear all these things. Earlier this year is was my birthday and the mother was planning on taking me shopping, and she said that to the family and the gran and brother went "You idiot!! why would you take that useless bitch out shopping when she does nothing for you, spend your money on someone who actually matters, and spread your positivity and kindness on someone that deserves it"(we never went shopping btw), that same night they also called me ugly, made fun of my fashion (I wear cute dresses and sometimes slightly goth clothes) They said I take advantage of everyone I talk to, and that im a 304 who's only using my boyfriend for money. My boyfriend ofc confronted the mother the next day, and she apologised, then the gran came over and said she isnt sorry. They say I dont even look like a woman, im the reason my dad has heart failure and that my gran died (idk how that is in any correlation??) and I dont deserve anything good in life. The gran came and yelled at me about a week ago, how I just "take take take" and never give back, I said I do the best I can but I health conditions that prevent it sometimes (by giving back I mean cleaning, looking after his dad whos at the end of his life, everyones laundry etc.) She said the same thing to my boyfriend and then said sorry to him, NOT ME, and made it obvious. my boyfriends brother never gets any of this crap, its only me and my boyfriend. The brother is the "perfect son whos in shape and is the pride and joy of the family!" (hes a few years older than us, and the mother pays for all of his food and clothes, he has a high paying job btw, and doesnt pay rent, and chooses not to move out.) Me and my bf cannot afford to move out, not with this cost of living. He cant currently get a job because his Emetophobia and his uni is stressful enough for him, same for me, and its quite impossible finding a job regardless here. Any retaliation towards them will get us kicked out, rendering us homeless. We cant do anything until we move out and it's making me feel worse everyday, i feel physically sick when they're over because im scared of what they do next, the mother doesnt care either, doesn't want to listen to us when we talk to her about it. "Thats what shes just like!" (the gran) The auntie recently said she was going to come over to "sort us out" (me my bf) whatever that means. This happens EVERY WEEK. The yelling, the name calling, the mess (they leave an AWFUL mess) EXPECTING me to clean it up, and if i dont, i get yelled at even more, threatend sometimes. Any advise? Its really impacting my mental health the bad way, I feel like im quite literally trapped. Moving out isnt an option and neither is confronting, so were stuck until the end of uni.

Me (21M) and my now ex-girlfriend (19F) recently broke up, and this feeling of me being her second option was definitely one of the many factors that contributed to it. I am curious to see what people other than my friend's circle think of this situation because I don't know if my expectations are probably just too high or something. Sorry but this is gonna be a long one because I want to provide all the context as to not seem biased by leaving out details. TL;DR at the bottom.
We met at a mutual friend's (let's call him E) Bible study gathering in December of 2022. At first, we didn't really talk to each other but we slowly got to be close and flirty with each other. We eventually went on a date in April of 2023 and confessed our feelings for one another, and we hugged & held hands for the rest of the date. I kind of messed up because as we were about to part ways that night, I tried to kiss her in my car and she backed away. The next morning she sent a long text about how she's not the type of person to rush things physically and I admitted that in most of my dates things would escalate pretty quickly and I got used to that. She accepted my apology.
The next day I flew out to Europe for a 2 week long trip with my family and we texted a few times daily, giving each other updates on our lives and sending cute selfies or nice scenery. I did upset her again however during that time away because she overheard my mom over the phone teasing me by saying her name; she was upset because she felt that I was already rushing to tell my parents that I have a girlfriend when we weren't even at that stage yet. I definitely didn't do that; the only reason my mom knew her name and her romantic involvement with me was because my brother overheard one of our other calls while I was in the bathroom and started teasing me as well. I apologized for both of these incidents and she said she forgave me but I don't think she truly did; keep this in mind for the rest of the story.
I come back late night from Europe and she facetimes me the next morning saying how she's not sure if we should be talking anymore. I was devastated because she really seemed like a trustworthy, morally sound Christian woman (which is rare these days in the dating scene). I asked if we could meet up and talk about it, and she told me to come over to her place. The talk went great because she told me that she just didn't know me very much and just said what she said over the phone was a defense mechanism due to her trauma of being used by other guys (remember this for later). We went on a date to the mall and it went very well, we had a lot of fun. From then on, I hung out at her place a bunch over the next two weeks (nothing sexual though, I did respect her physical boundaries) because after that period she was going back to her hometown for the summer to grind out the good-paying job she had there and then come back. This was already planned before I even met her. In the last couple days before she left, we escalated to sensually making out, so I took it as a good sign of her attraction toward me. Definitely a good thing to have before going long distance for 3 months.
3 weeks into long distance I asked her to be my girlfriend, and she happily obliged. She even showed me screenshots announcing it to her friends and family. Things were going swell until she opened up to me about something a month and a half later that truly hurt me: she admitted to one of my close friends (let's call him J) that she liked him while I was away in Europe. I felt so betrayed because I thought I was the only guy she had feelings for when we went on our first date. I felt like a rebound because J turned her down and that's probably the reason she entertained me again when I came back (and why she seemed unsure at first about talking to me anymore from that morning I was back). I told her that it feels like she cheated, and she defended herself by saying that we weren't together yet at the time and it's okay for her to like two people at the same time; her saying this really made my heart sink because I definitely disagree with that. I then asked her to tell me the real reasons about why she was unsure about talking to me anymore after I got back from Europe, and a big reason she stated was because J warned her that I might be using her for her body. He definitely based this false assumption on the phase I had in the summer of 2022 chasing casual sex online (my suspicion which he did confirm, more on it in the next paragraph). I felt dirty for doing all that which was the whole reason I started going to E’s Bible study in the first place. Anyways, she felt that stacked with the two things I did that made her upset previously (things I didn't mean to do) and led to her feeling more comfortable talking to J in comparison. But she was adamant that they didn't have flirty conversations, just friendly ones, which I believe because J was already talking to another girl and his type is way different from hers.
Obviously I had to confront J after this to get his side of the story. E also happened to be in the room with us. J did admit that he spoke bad about me because he really disliked what I was doing during that 2022 summer. I was upset because I considered him a best friend and I thought he would back me up and wingman me, but in response he told me about how he was also concerned for my ex because she opened up to him as well about her trauma of being used, so he just saw it as looking out for her. I was mad at first, but the betrayal I felt from her confessing her feelings to another guy while talking to me overcame that anger so I forgave him. E then chimed in with something even more intriguing. E said that my ex told him at first she was going to confess to J, and he said it was a bad idea, but she did it anyway and it actually caused him to cut her off as a friend because of it. E wanted to tell me all about this earlier, but he saw how infatuated I was with my ex and he didn't want to get in the way of that. He also told others in our friends circle about our situation to get their opinion and all of them agreed that I was a second option for her.
After this whole revelation, my ex gave me space so I could think about whether I wanted to continue our relationship or not. I decided to continue with it because I still felt that someone with her traits was rare; I feel so stupid thinking back to that decision now. From that point on, we had an increased amount of arguments, and honestly my insecurity of feeling like the second option provoked/propagated most of them. Many more things happened that led to us breaking up eventually, but I'm specifically asking if you guys think I was a rebound or not because this was the root to our eventual downfall almost a year after officially getting together. I need clarity, so I will greatly appreciate your input. If you need more information to make your opinion feel free to ask me.
TL;DR: Became insecure and started feeling like the second option because my now ex-girlfriend admitted that she confessed feelings to one of my close friends while we were in the talking stage (after confessing feelings to each other first), but he turned her down. It is one of the main reasons why we eventually broke up. Am I right to think this was messed up or is there really nothing wrong with admitting feelings to someone, second guessing that person, admitting feelings to someone else, getting turned down by that other person, and then going back to the other one? BTW my entire friend's circle thinks she was in the wrong but I need opinions from people with no inherent bias.
