2024.05.19 13:45 Due-Acanthisitta8360 Advice appreciated

This is going to be a long one, so buckle up.
I was born in Sweden and moved to the US when I was 4. My great grandfather moved from his Sami village and in three generations we were effectively colonized. I don't know the language nor have I really been exposed to my peoples culture due to my father's shame. Obviously, being European, my family has viking ancestory. My sister got lucky and has the platinum blond hair you see in the movies.
I come from a very strict Christian background however I've long since drifted away from those views. When I was around 15 or 16 I started doing a little digging into Norse Paganism but moved on in favor of working with a Greek goddess.
I'd consider my approach to spirituality very eclectic. As long as it's an open practice I learn whatever strikes my fancy. I certainly contemplated looking more into my Sami roots but a cousin (who's a part of a Sami organization) advised me that because I wasn't living in Sampiland I shouldn't practice the traditional ways/beliefs of my people, given the fact I'm effectively an outsider.
For those of you who aren't aware Thor is a God who's revered in the traditional Sami belief system. The Sami and Vikings had enough interaction through trade that the Sami people incorporated one of thier gods.
Three years ago I started a journal dedicated to Runes. It was something idle, to pass the time, and I considered it enjoyable. I hadn't, however, gotten my hands on a rune set. Then I moved on once again.
Ravens began to follow me and for the next several years they were a constant in my life. I saw them daily, even in the winter.
A witchy store opened nearby about a year ago and they just so happened to have two norse necklaces. Again, on instinct, at random, I happened to see them. One was the hammer of Thor and the other was Odin's Compass. Given I'm not very familiar with Norse Paganism I'd never seem Odin's compass before. I felt a connection with it and happened to walk out with it. It was only later I learned what it was.
Another trip, an entirely different store, and I decided to buy a book on runes. Another run of idly curiosity the book was a more complex dive into the subject. That same trip I happened to find an intuitive deck.
I was walking through the store and felt an energetic tug and turned to see some cards on a table. I pulled them out and immeditly three popped out, describing my life at the current moment. It was an instant connection with a deck, which I've never had before. I turned the cards over to see Odin's Compass on the back. Needless to say I walked out with that deck. To this day out of every oracle and tarot deck I have the connection with that intuitive deck transcends them all.
The last and final event, my tipping point. I was in a witchy store once again browsing for candles and Incense when the store keeper approached me and said she had a rune set. I recall that shortly before she approached me i was suddenly being bombarded with wolf imagery. Wolf incense burners, pictures, crystals shaped like wolves, the full nine yards. She brought them out for me. Given the chance I'd never handled runes before I jumped at the chance to leave with my own set. The runestones were all but jumping from the container the second I walked out. On my way to the car two runestones slipped out and it wasn't necessarily due to any haphazard movements on my part.
This afternoon I tried them out. It was like this incessant tug that wouldn't leave me alone until I finally caved and decided to use them. I couldn't focus on anything else and the urge grew so strong I actually had to leave a friend mid conversation.
The reading was phenomenal. It was like the runestones were guiding me. I ended up setting out a little cloth underneath them. I'm not entirely sure why but it felt important. I used my intuitive deck in conjuction with the runestones after an intial cast. It just felt right to toss the runestones.
Once again, utter clarity that's impossible for me to achieve with other divination methods. It was the first time I've ever felt throughly drained after a reading as well. I could only continue for about five to ten minutes before I had to stop.
I ended up placing the runestones on display in a little glass goblet the store keeper gave me for free, alongside the intuitive deck. It just felt right. Like they wanted to be out instead of tucked away in the pouch.
Anyway, I'm curious on your thoughts and what direction you think I should take things. Should I be looking into Norse Paganism again? If I do, which God or goddess would be worth looking into?

🔗Sterling Silver Cardinal Pendant Necklace with Crystal Accents

As a fan of unique and eye-catching jewelry, I was immediately drawn to the Giani Bernini Crystal Cardinal Pendant Necklace in Sterling Silver. The combination of the vibrant red and black crystals set against the glistening sterling silver really makes this piece stand out.
One of the highlights of this necklace is the intricate design - the circular pendant adds a touch of elegance while the statement neckline makes a bold statement. Additionally, the adjustable extender ensures a perfect fit for a wide range of neck sizes.
However, the biggest drawback for me was the maintenance required to keep the crystals looking their best. While the pendant itself is quite striking, it demanded regular upkeep to keep the crystals clean and shiny.
Overall, the Giani Bernini Crystal Cardinal Pendant Necklace in Sterling Silver is a beautiful addition to any jewelry collection, but be prepared for the added care it may require to maintain its sparkle.

🔗Silver Cardinal Necklace for Angel Reminders

The Cardinal Necklace Silver is a stunning piece of jewelry that I've had the pleasure of incorporating into my daily style. The necklace truly stands out, with its beautiful silver design and the delicate image of a cardinal that seems to whisper to me of loved ones from beyond. Not only is it visually appealing, but the craftsmanship is top-notch, a testament to the skill and care that went into making it.
What I appreciate about this necklace is the sense of comfort it brings. The thought that my loved ones are nearby, watching over me, brings a certain peace to my heart. The company behind this product has made the experience even more special with their personal touch, demonstrated by the heartfelt note included in my order. This necklace not only serves as a beautiful accessory but also as a reminder of the love and support I carry with me.

I recently had the chance to try on the Celebration Memories Red Cardinal Pendant Necklace from John Medeiros Jewelry Collections. This stunning piece of jewelry is crafted with rhodium and gold, making it both elegant and durable. The 7/8" pendant features the cardinal design, a symbol of the connection between the earthly and spiritual realms.
One of the unique aspects of this necklace is the engraving on the back, which reads "Loved One Is Near. " Whether wearing it for yourself or as a thoughtful gift, this necklace serves as a subtle reminder of the love and support that surrounds us in our daily lives. The adjustable length of 16"-18" allows for a comfortable fit, and the pendant itself is just the right size to catch the eye without being overly noticeable.
While the necklace looks and feels fantastic, I did find that the rhodium coating can be sensitive to certain chemicals. It's essential to follow the care instructions to ensure the necklace stays beautiful for years to come. Overall, the Celebration Memories Red Cardinal Pendant Necklace is a perfect combination of style and symbolism, making it a beautiful addition to any collection.

🔗Elegant Winter-Inspired Cardinal Necklace and Earring Set

When I first saw the Goldtone Cardinal Necklace and Earrings set, I thought it was the perfect addition to my winter wardrobe. The beautiful cardinal design combined with sparkly Swarovski crystals created a stunning, elegant look that I couldn't resist.
Wearing the necklace and earrings together, I felt like I was adding a touch of winter magic to my outfit. The pendant was a lovely size, not too big or too small, and the chains were comfortable to wear. I appreciated how the crystals caught the light, creating a dazzling effect that really made the cardinal design stand out.
However, I did notice that some crystal details seemed a bit rough around the edges and didn't have the same polished look as the rest of the piece. Also, although the necklace came with a complementary chain, I felt that the earrings were a bit too dainty for my liking, and I would have preferred a larger, more statement-making design.
Despite these minor issues, the Anne Koplik Cardinal Necklace and Earrings set is a lovely choice for those looking to add a touch of elegance and winter charm to their look.

🔗Stylish Cardinal Pendant Necklace for Fans

I recently came across the Dayna Designs Stanford Cardinal Silver Small Pendant Necklace, and I must say, it's a perfect blend of fashion and fandom. The silver necklace is adorned with a small, handcrafted pendant featuring the Stanford Cardinal logo in intricate enamel detailing.
I especially appreciated the quality stamp, ensuring that it's made from genuine. 925 silver. The spring ring clasp makes it a secure fit for all occasions, and it's perfect for cheering on the Cardinals at home or catching a game in person. While I enjoyed the high-quality design, I'd suggest it for fans of the Cardinals rather than a broader audience, as it's quite specific to that team.

Buyer's Guide

Cardinal necklaces are available in different materials such as gold, silver, stainless steel, and others. Some offer a more traditional look with a simple cardinal charm, while others have intricate designs that showcase the bird's detailed features. There are also necklaces that incorporate other elements like gemstones, crystals, or other symbols for a unique touch.

Material Considerations

https://preview.redd.it/d3sxw8c6nc1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0ba588de3f564558a695b59214a562b16a7ea8ed
When selecting a cardinal necklace, consider the material's durability, hypoallergenic properties, and overall quality. For those looking for a more traditional and classic piece, gold or silver would be a popular choice. Stainless steel necklaces are also an option for individuals with sensitive skin or allergies to metal. It is essential to check the material's quality and ensuring it is long-lasting and will not tarnish or fade over time.

Style and Design

The style and design of the cardinal necklace depend on personal preferences and the occasion. For a more casual look, opt for simpler designs with a single charm or cardinal embellishment. For a more elegant and formal style, consider elegant chains draped with intricate cardinal pendants or charms. If you want to incorporate other elements, consider necklaces with gemstones or crystals that complement the cardinal design.

Size and Fit

Selecting the right size for the cardinal necklace is crucial. Ideally, the necklace should fit comfortably and not be too tight or loose. Consider purchasing a necklace with an adjustable clasp or chain to ensure the perfect fit. Additionally, check the length of the pendant to ensure it falls at a desirable location on the wearer's chest.

Price and Budget

The price of cardinal necklaces can vary significantly depending on the materials used, design, brand, and retailer. Set a budget before shopping for a necklace to ensure you find a piece within your price range. Bear in mind that purchasing a high-quality cardinal necklace from a reputable seller may cost more initially, but it will likely last longer and require less maintenance over time.

Maintenance and Care

Proper maintenance and care for your cardinal necklace are essential to prevent damage, tarnishing, or discoloration. Keep the necklace clean and dry, avoiding contact with moisture, chemicals, or abrasive surfaces. Store it in a soft pouch or box when not in use to protect it from dust and scratches. It is also advisable to have your necklace professionally cleaned and checked for any damages periodically.

2024.05.19 06:53 Forsaken-Paramedic-4 Help! Weird Experience

So for context, I have a sensitivity to weather events and air pressure changes that can give me headaches in a day or hours before oncoming storms, tornadoes or hurricanes warnings watches give me intense ear pressure pains. During normal storms, I’ll have a headache beforehand sometimes hours or a whole day beforehand, next, a couple minutes or even mere seconds before it rains, I’ll get shiver cold chill tingling and shake like I’m shaking off excess energy, and then in 15 to 20 min or so when it releases and rains, the headache goes away and I will get the sleepy, drowsy, content, peaceful feeling and have this cold chill tingle pitter patter feeling that feels like misty rain drizzle sprinkling but fainter. When lightning is very intense or particularly colse, my skin will tingle and my hairs will stand up but it’s not as close as others have reported when this happened to them. During last week, I had a bunch of different little things happening to me all at once that all started about the same time, last Wednesday, maybe Tuesday, and peaked last Friday and have thus far prolonged but have been slowly dropping off. I have had super vivid lucid dreams. Out of body experiences are ridiculously easy at the moment when normally they are more difficult to attain. Prolonged hypnogogic states between awake and sleep are happening every time I fall asleep and wake up and my sleep schedule is abruptly all out of wack all last week. The super relaxed mindless drifting morning meditative like relaxation and peacefulness you get when first waking up is lasting most of the morning instead of just 15 to 20 mins. Empty mind and mindful meditation peacefulness and serenity are coming to me absurdly easy when normally I have to gradually quiet and focus my mind. I am very sleepy relaxed content-at times almost very scattered, confused, or spaced out, difficulty focusing or mustering up willpower to do stuff-it almost makes me think of how I am when tipsy drunk but no physical effects of alcohol and I haven’t started any new medication or diet changes that could cause side effects-, and wanting to just do no work, just sit, lay, and immerse myself in my surrounding environment or the empty mind. With no rain, I have had tingling cold chills like excessive energy or mild electrical potential feel in the air like when near big Tesla coils I saw once on a school field trip and goosebumps on and off over that last week, and it’s more often and intense when I’m outside, same for the headaches. In extreme weather, I will have an instinctive feeling urge to take all my pillows and blankets and snacks and water and will “nest” hunker down in my closet and I’ve felt that urge last week-more so out of an almost winter hibernation feeling sleepy drowsiness and comfort rather than the usual instinctive urge to hunker down-yet no extreme weather. I have an old hip bruising from a playground incident in middle school that acts up when it’s cold and we’ve been getting 70s F weather and yet it’s acting up. I am wanting to sleep or try more lucid dreams or out of body experiences to the point it’s more an urge than a meager want, and my interest in spiritual stuff has increased abruptly to an almost laser focus obsessive compulsive I-want-to-know-everything-I-possibly-can level to where I’m doing one completely different thing and I derail back to spiritual stuff. So all these physical and mental things I’ve experienced last week were very similar to what I experience during storms or extreme weather, but we didn’t have any extreme weather in my area last week, and the before and during storm symptoms happened at the same time while being amped up ridiculously intense, and all this extra spiritual stuff, all starting, peaking, and decreasing all happening at the exact same time, leads me to suspect that something out in the world triggered all this, but the absence of any usual triggering bad weather in the area plus the spiritual stuff is confusing. If anyone actually read this and has any ideas or has or is going through something similar, any theories or ideas would be helpful. Body sensitivity, chemicals, hormones, brain wave stuff, ESP, bioelectric field, chakras, any spiritual or scientific theories are welcome at this point if it means I might get some answers.

2024.05.18 13:59 Yurii_S_Kh The Icon of the Most Holy Mother of God, “The Inexhaustible Cup”

The Icon of the Most Holy Mother of God, “The Inexhaustible Cup”
A wonderful healing has been given to us through your holy icon, O Sovereign Lady Theotokos. By its appearance we have been delivered from spiritual and physical ills, and from sorrowful circumstances. We therefore offer our thankful praise to you, O merciful Protectress.
From the akathist to the Icon of the Mother of God, “The Inexhaustible Cup”
“The Inexhaustible Cup” wonderworking icon of the Holy Theotokos
The excellent Russian author Ivan Sergeyevich Shmelev (1873-1950) who wrote much about everyday life of pious Orthodox people of the pre-Revolution Russia, described, among other things, the veneration of the wonderworking Icon of the Mother of God “The Inexhaustible Cup” which appeared in 1878 in Serpukhov (a town some 100 kilometers/c.62 miles south of Moscow) and kept at Vladychny Convent of the Entry of the Mother of God into the Temple. This is an extract from that work:
“…Peasant wagons move towards the convent along forest tracks. Exhausted women bring their near and dear from hundreds of miles away: raving, yelling with savage voices, men of bestial appearance try to release themselves from ropes. “The Inexhaustible Cup” heals the disease of drunkenness. Those who have lost their human appearance gaze at the indescribable Icon with their maddened eyes, not understanding What and Who She is—She Who radiantly looks at them with a golden chalice, bright, and drawing them to Herself—and they calm down. And while quiet young girls in white headscarves carry it and sing with joyful voices, thousands of those whose souls suffer and seek consolation fall down beneath it to the dirty ground. Unseeing, inflamed eyes stare at the bright icon with wild looks and cry excitedly, “I give up alcoholism (I promise to give up)!” Hysterical women writhe and utter curses, tearing their blouses… and in excitement fix their gaze on the eyes that draw attention to themselves. Betrothed couples come and hang pink ribbons—an earnest of happiness. Young mothers bring their first-born children, and the icon looks joyfully at them. What draws all of them to her nobody can explain—no one has found the words to express their inward feelings. I only feel that joy enters the soul.”
In his marvelous story with the same name Shmelev told one of the legends associated with “The Inexhaustible Cup” Icon, according to which a serf master named Ilia had painted this icon. The official history is silent about this, but it is this story that the wonderworking icon owes its fame, though, first of all, it is its miraculous power to heal alcoholism.
In our troubled times, as it was a century ago, hundreds and thousands of people are flocking to Serpukhov and praying for healing. The gifts of the Christians who were healed from this sickness, their children and other family members, with which the pedestal of the icon is covered, are more precious than all golden settings. Today pilgrims are spreading the healing oil from icon lamps of the wonderworking icon along with the water which is blessed during prayer services all over Russia.
Monasteries and convents from time immemorial were sources of that holy and mysterious peace, which every suffering Christian soul always sought after. Such was the Vladychny monastic community of the Entry of the Mother of God into the Temple in Serpukhov, which was founded in 1360 at the border of then the Principality of Moscow, at the confluence of the rivers Nara and Oka. The latter river was called “the belt of the Mother of God” because it separated and protected Holy Rus’ from the wild steppe, “amid a pine grove and mansion-like red wood.” From the first days of its existence the invisible streams of grace spread from here to all parts of Russia. Initially it was a monastery for men, established during the abbacy of Venerable Varlaam, a former assistant of the Holy Metropolitan Alexis of Moscow. It was also under the spiritual care of St. Sergius of Radonezh. The chronicles relate that the great Abbot of the Russian Land (that is, St. Sergius) came here at the beginning of winter 1374 together with his disciple, Venerable Athanasius, and prayed at the cathedral of Vladychny Monastery, built of white stone. The legend of the foundation of this monastery also mentions a miraculous apparition of the Most Pure Virgin to Venerable Varlaam: “The vision showed to the builder that even angels would help him in his labors of building the church and preserve the monastery, that the Queen of Heaven Herself would dwell in this church as She had been present in the Temple of Jerusalem.”
And several centuries later this promise was fully fulfilled.
https://preview.redd.it/pslfjrwjc61d1.png?width=700&format=png&auto=webp&s=759417630476ce25db6a52ba256aaff626a4360e
By the end of the eighteenth century Vladychny Monastery was declining and decaying. The services all but stopped, the scanty brethren dispersed, and the churches were falling into ruin. However, Metropolitan Platon (Levshin; 1737-1812) of Moscow, through whose efforts the spiritual prosperity of the great Optina and other monasteries began, did not forget Vladychny Monastery either—it was near this monastery that he had spent his childhood. The metropolitan obtained the permission of emperor Alexander I (1777-1825) to re-establish this monastic community as a nunnery and in 1806 first nuns came to live there. A quarter of a century later, another great archpastor, Holy Hierarch Philaret (Drozdov; 1782-1867) of Moscow introduced the strict ancient rules of desert community life into the convent. Thus he restored the spirit of monastic disdain for riches (“nestyazhanye” – “non-acquisitiveness” in Russian) and providentially prepared the convent to receive such a holy shrine as “The Inexhaustible Cup” Icon.
In the first year of the abbacy of Abbess Maria, namely in 1878, a peasant of the Tula province—a retired soldier who had a passion for alcohol for many years—in a vision saw a certain elder who commanded him to go to Serpukhov, to find the Icon “The Inexhaustible Cup” and to hold the a supplicatory prayer service before it. The old, penniless soldier, exhausted by his hard drinking, had absolutely no strength to go to Serpukhov. Soon the vision occurred again and the poor elderly soldier literally crawled to the convent on all fours. On the very first night of his ascetic journey the man suddenly felt that his legs began to obey him again.
Reaching the convent, he put its nuns to confusion as they knew nothing of the icon with this name. Then they remembered that an icon hung in one of the convent passages: on it the Infant Christ blesses the worshippers as if coming from a chalice for Communion; behind Him the Mother of God raises Her most pure hands—in the same manner as on icons of “The Sign”. Everybody was greatly amazed when they saw the inscription “The Inexhaustible Cup” on the back of the icon! Remarkably, when the man came up to the shrine of St. Varlaam, he at once recognized in him the holy elder who had appeared to him in the vision and commanded to go to the Mother of God for healing from alcoholism. The news of the wondrous miracle rapidly spread over many towns and villages: from everywhere those possessed with this terrible passion flocked to the miracle-working icon, venerated “The Inexhaustible Cup” and gave up drinking; thus peace and quiet began to reign in their homes—and all this was through the prayers of the Protectress of the mankind.

The tradition of this miracle-working icon explains that, “The Inexhaustible Cup” is, according to the akathist, “the one who draws up joy from the source of immortality,” the source of consolation, healing, life and various spiritual gifts and happiness. And let everybody see the hidden spiritual meaning in the fact that “The Inexhaustible Cup” Icon became a source of saving hopes and cures from the wicked passion of alcoholism: the Mother of God is praying for every single sinner; She, the merciful one, knows the suffering of those who give themselves over to debauchery, knows how strong is the desire of many of them to rid themselves of this brutal vice, but cannot find strength to struggle. So the Most Pure Virgin reminds them through Her holy Icon “The Inexhaustible Cup” that She is the inexhaustible wellspring of grace and spiritual joy, that She pours out from Her ever-inexhaustible cup heavenly delight into their withered hearts; drinking of it, they will begin to hate that ruinous liquid which once invincibly attracted them to itself.
Such sufferers at any time and in every place should resort to the all-powerful intercession of the Most Pure Virgin, making it the rule to read the angelic salutation, “Theotokos Virgin, rejoice” at least three times a day. No matter how deeply rooted the cursed passion of drunkenness may be, it cannot withstand the gracious help of the Holy Theotokos.
Troparion tone 4:
Today we faithful come to the divine and miraculous Icon of the Most Holy Theotokos, who fills the faithful from the Inexhaustible Cup of her mercy and shows them great miracles; and we who have seen them and heard of them rejoice in our heart and cry out, with deep feeling and devotion: O all-merciful sovereign Lady, heal our ills and our passions by praying to thy Son, Christ our God, that He may save our souls! Amen.

2024.05.18 11:07 Ok_Reflection_6062 Recommendations for themes like feeling lost, grieving, chosen family, burnout

Hi,
I am very new to this genre, but I came here via horrorlit while looking for cozy horror that was gentle, mysterious, slower paced and not jarring/traumatic. Since browsing this space, I have really been thinking what I am seeking may be more likely to fall under cozy fantasy.
Some context:
I am looking after a parent that's very ill. We are not very close (they were abusive), but life after their passing feels like an odd mix of hopeful and devastating. I have mostly come to terms with it and am well supported in therapy, but I have really been wanting to lean into cozy, relaxed, fantasy reads that may/may not be about bereavement but are about finding ourselves after loss.
I love the idea of finding joy and meaning not just in suffering but beyond it, in picking up the pieces and living anew, fresh starts.
I think I'd enjoy "finding ourselves" and adult coming of age novels involving travel, meeting new people (maybe even love interests), making friends in unexpected places, career changes that are more fulfilling and aligned. I tend to like books involving cute/fun/creative clubs, like a new person moving to a small town being invited to join the local book club kinda thing.
Themes I enjoy:
Themes I am not into:
Thanks in advance! <3

2024.05.17 11:29 Naudilent My Views and Reviews Can't Beat Unless You Tell Them To

A 70s stinker, big monster, off the path and more this week.
The TL;DR The Visitor: A remarkable cast is wasted in this bizarre Italian semi-sci-fi riff on The Omen, The Fury, and others. The Ruins: Absolutely riveting tourism gone wrong horror. Deathgasm: Top tier horror comedy that hits similar notes to Dead Alive. My Heart Can’t Beat Unless You Tell It To: Part family drama, part thought experiment. A look at a trio of people who are dead inside, each in their own way. The Lake: Special effects are the star of this “Thaiju” feature, but there isn’t much else to it. Moloch: Needed some edits but fans of folk horror should enjoy this Dutch offering. Lovely, Dark, and Deep: In the forests of the night, it gets credibly creepy. Low budget, but a great lead and fine visuals.
The Visitor (1979): “I can’t kill children – only the evil part.” After a psychedelic encounter on a planet with a lava lamp atmosphere, an old man lets blond space Jesus — who has been telling hairless kids about how “Commander Yahweh” slew the demonic Sateen — know that a spiritual descendant of Sateen has been reborn on Earth. Cue 70s style soundtrack, and here we go! Or would go, if anything ever happened. The film is a total mess, with bizarrely long takes of John Huston (!) and others pacing or staring or driving in one scene and rapidfire edits in another. Lance Henrikson’s (!) Ray is more robotic than Bishop, and Shelley Winters (!) and Sam Peckinpah (!!) don’t make much of a difference. Allegedly, the cast only participated to gain a free trip to Italy, which I hope they enjoyed. Huston’s distinctive voice is the film’s only redeeming quality, but you’re better off hearing it elsewhere. Gore: 1/10. Nudity: None. Tubi.
The Ruins (2008): “Aren’t you glad you came?” Iceman and Jena Malone (who had a memorable makeout session in Neon Demon) venture with their friends to some off the path Mayan ruins, where the locals welcoming in a “We wish you’d never, ever leave” way. As it turns out, I’d already seen this one long ago; hearing the “cell phone” ring immediately tipped me off. But it was very much worth a second watch, and if you haven’t seen it absolutely do so. It’s well worth the $3 and change. Then consider the aftermath. Gore: 6/10. Nudity: None. Prime rental
Deathgasm (2015): “Hail Satin” Horror comedies face the same challenge as regular comedies: keeping the laughs going after the first 15 minutes, when the dramatic plot kicks in. Tucker and Dale did this very well; Zombeavers not so much. Deathgasm, fortunately, is a lot closer to T&D, finding ways great and small to inject humor in and around the more serious scenes. And damn, what lines — I had to pause more than a few times to laugh my arse off. As a metalhead in my youth, I appreciated a lot of jokes more than I might have otherwise, but anyone with a stomach for gore and naughtiness will enjoy this one. Gore: 8/10, but it’s a funny 8/10. Nudity: Brief. Tubi
My Heart Can’t Beat Unless You Tell it To (2021): “We shouldn’t be doing the things that we’re doing.” Two siblings care for the third, who is sickly and has special nutritional requirements one might term the “Lugosi Diet.” Not heroin — the red stuff. This is only peripherally a vampire movie. It’s much more a psychological drama about caregiver fatigue, the struggle of the able to aid the disabled and how even a family full of love can collapse under the weight of their burdens. There’s no backstory given, no mythos to justify the situation, just a family struggling to do what they have to do to keep their youngest member alive. It’s good, with the leads providing a bleak window into their day-to-day existences, though a little humor would have been nice. It’s an existential, thought-provoking vignette that may linger with you. Gore: 3/10, bloodletting. Nudity: Just a man and his underwear. Screambox, which I apparently still have.
The Lake (2022): “Compose yourself. Don’t get out of the car.” I wanted a big monster flick, and this Thai production says it has one. I just hope I don’t have to wait forever for it to sho—ah, 3 minutes in and there it is. No build up at all. Huh. A fan of Bong Joon-Ho’s The Host (2006) apparently got hold of a decent budget and put together a “Thaiju” film of their own, and it’s…okay. While the editing is all over the place, it does keep the story moving, and the creatures are interesting to look at and well rendered. There are speed bump human dramas, but they don’t account for much; characters are uni-dimensional, and the film unfortunately lacks much in the way of a binding narrative. If you’re in the mood for a big beast exercise in special effects, you could do worse. Just don’t expect much else. Gore: 4/10. Nudity: None. Prime.
Moloch (2022): “You science boys, you’re uninformed.” This Dutch folk horror tells — at a modest pace — the story of Bietrik and her family, who have suffered substantial losses over the generations. Events lead her to believe that her family may be cursed, haunted by some local entity. All in all, it’s a decent movie, wrapped around its own eerie mythology and leading to a striking conclusion. There’s a scene in a field that should have been left on the cutting room floor, and the second half lacks the sense of urgency and discovery that can really carry a movie, but I’d still recommend it for the atmosphere and some fine, creepy moments. Not bad for a writedirector’s first full length feature.
Gore: 3/10. Nudity: None. Trivia: While Moloch has often been thought of as a deity to whom children were sacrificed, more recent research suggests it was instead a type of sacrifice, one that involved children and was performed for various gods in the Levant, including the god of the Hebrews. Shudder
Lovely, Dark, and Deep (2023): “You’ve taken from us.” Georgina Campbell (Barbarian) is a forest ranger taking her first 90-day assignment in the deepest part of the woods in her fictional park. We see her settle in, go on multi-day walkabouts, and wrestle with a loss in her past. It’s a slow, scenic build to the weirdness, but it snowballs quickly. There’s a “walking simulator” aspect that follows which may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but Campbell kept me invested with her performance. While the film follows some tropes (things there one moment and gone the next, for example), it turns others on its head. While “in the forest” stories can go very different ways (as The Ritual, Gaia, and In the Earth demonstrate), I finished LD&D thinking of it as a folk horror. I’m curious if you agree. Gore: 5/10 for some red moments. Nudity: None. Trivia: The title comes from a Robert Frost poem you may have encountered in school. Tubi

As the Mysterious Stranger and the Seeker leave the old castle behind, they continue on the snow-covered path. A path appears on the right side, following parallel to their own. The two paths merge into one, which leads towards a volcano. As they progress, another parallel path from the left side merges as well with the current one.
.
In the distance, the Seeker spots a building, where the path tilts uphill. A sign points at a crossroad. An intersection, between realms. The crossroads, where all timelines meet up: Where the westward and the eastward paths meets the northern road.
Where the paths meet, stands a tavern. The lights are on. The chimney is smoking. A sign shows its name:
'The Red Ditch Inn'
.
.
“Wanna get something to drink,” asks the Stranger the Seeker.
“Sure, why not,” accepts the Seeker.
.
.
Before he opens the door knob, the Stranger hesitates and speaks to the Seeker:
“This is the bar, where the timelines of our souls meet up. This is the crossing of our life-paths, the intersection of fate. Be prepared, for what happens next.”
The Seeker and the Stranger walk into the building. As they open the door, they are started by the loud conversations. The inn is full. Many tables with different animals of all species.
.
.
The table in the center of the bar, has a label saying: 'Spirituality'
Around that table sit all kinds of different birds and animals. Pigeons, squirrels, Reptiles, cats, dogs, wolves, foxes, crows, mice, sloths. They are mostly talking about crystals and past lives.
.
.
There was a table, which said: 'astralprojection'. There sat an old bear, who carries many scars, wounded by countless battles, teaching young bear cups, who attentively listen to their elders. Some are making notes.
.
.
Next to it, is a table with a label saying: 'Enlightenment'
There sit some parrots all repeating the same mantra in unison:
“BEFORE ENLIGHTENMENT CHOP WOOD CARRY WATER, AFTER ENLIGHTENMENT CHOP WOOD CARRY WATER.”
.
.
There is another table, called: 'Awakened'
There sit a caterpillar, a spider, a scorpion and an eagle.
“You have an Ego,” shouts the caterpillar at the spider, pointing his finger.
“No, you have an Ego,” shouts the spider back at the caterpillar.
“You both have an Ego,” accuses the scorpion both the caterpillar and the spider.
“Hey,” shouts the bird. “I am the eagle here!”
.
.
Next to it, is the table of 'nonduality'. The chairs are completely empty. There is no one here.
.
.
On the other side there is another table with many different birds and mammals, some more exotic animals from all around the world. The label says 'Soulnexus'. There is someone constantly screaming at the top of their lungs:
“I AM A PROFFESIONAL PSYCHIC READER WITH 14 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE!”
.
.
One table next to it is called 'starseeds'. The people sitting there do not look like animals, but like strange aliens. Some small and green beings, others big and gray, some with fur, some with scales, some humanoid. They were mostly talking about the past, exchanging some old memories. Among them is a chicken, who wears an alien costume.
.
As one of the Grey beings stands up to go to the toilet, the chicken whispers to the others:
“Psst guys, I think Fred may not be an actual Starseed.”
The other beings around the table start mumbling.
.
.
There is one more table called 'psychonauts'. The Stranger walks towards their table.
“Jo, wazzup Shawty,” greets the Stranger an old friend at the psychonaut-table, with a fist bump. “Long time no see.”
.
“Whoa, it's YOU,” responds the Tiger at the table, with red eyes, smoking his bong. “Last time I've seen you, I was like in DMT realm.”
.
“Is Burt anywhere around?” asks the Stranger.
.
.
“He is sitting there in the corner,” responds Shawty. The tiger points at a traumatized racoon sitting in the dark corner.
“I have seen too much,” mumbles the Burt the Racoon with eyes wide open, like a scratched record.
“I have traveled too far... I have seen, what lies within the emptiness. Never again... I will never do shrooms again...”
.
.
Suddenly the waiter taps the racoons shoulder, ripping him out of his thought loop.
“Sir... Do you wanna order anything?”
.
“Do you have McKennaii?”
“Yes,” responds the waiter.
“Then I'll have 7 grams,” orders the racoon.
.
.
The Seeker has a sudden thought and looks at the Stranger.
“What does the ' slash' on the tables, stand for?”
.
“I don't know...,” shrugs the Stranger. “ It's probably to reserve the table at this inn.”
.
.
.
The Stranger looks at all the tables, they are all talking and talking. Some are playing poker, others are playing dart, some drunks fight each other. Others talk about their identity or their favorite dogma. Some are showing off, how enlightened they are.
As they stand at the crossroads, they can either go Westwards, Eastwards and Northwards. Many have taken the western route, many have went eastwards, but they always ended back at the 'Red Ditch Inn' again.
The newbies, were unsure, whether to go west or east. The experienced ones, knew it doesn't make a difference, they would end up at the bar again anyway. Some were stuck in the bar since many decades, they had given up hope to ever find a way out. But few of them ever dared to walk northwards.
The Stranger sighs, as he looks around. His eyes flame up, he inhales deeply and climbs on a chair. With a raised voice he speaks:
.
.
.
.
When did we lose our heart?
We lost our heart collectively.
Did we lose it, when we were still cavemen? When we had to survive the cold winters of the ice age? When we hunted down the last Homo Neanderthalensis? Or later on, when the first tribes waged war against each other? Did we lose our heart, when we enslaved each other? Did we lose our hearts, when we dropped atom bombs, or when we caused our first mass extinctions...The crimes, that Humans do in wars... All of us carry the sins of our forefathers on our shoulders.
.
.
We lost our hearts individually.
For the person it starts pretty early in their childhood. We lose our trust, when we are lied to. Almost everyone tastes the pain of Betrayal at least once in life. We are deeply wounded from childhood on. We learn early on, that humans hurt us and thus we become suspicious of humans. We learn not to trust each other. Because we are afraid of being hurt again. And so we close off our heart to protect it.
.
.
What is the heart?
I am not talking about the physical organ. I talk about this part in your 'soul', if I may call it that. It's like the core of our 'soul', of our 'astral body'. The centre of our 'energy' or chakras. We are afraid to open it, because it's very vulnerable. That's why we protect it. We are afraid to open it, because we don't trust each other.
But unless your heart is open, you can never experience unconditional love. Its flame must be activated.
The heart is your connection to everything. The heart is what connects you to 'source', if that's the word, you'd like to use. The heart is from where our love flows.
We have cut off the connection and became separated from the ALL. We made love conditional. We split hating from loving, dislike from like and created duality. We became attached. We let ourselves be corrupted by the Ego.
Now that we have closed the heart, what have we done to the world?
.
.
We turned the world into a place, that almost no one likes. We created a society, that keeps us in narrow boxes. We made the world a lonely place, for everyone to be in. Even in groups, we often feel lonely. We allowed money to rule over us. We allowed ideologies to split us and dogmas to control us.
We have so many different issues, that we just can't seem to overcome. Climate change. Wars. Corrupt politicians. Poverty. Starvation. Meaninglessness. Nihilism.
Where should we start with all that mess?
.
.
With ourselves. That is the place, where the transformation needs to start. We need to evolve. One person at a time. Only then, can the collective transform as well.
We need to open the mind and the heart. To see and to feel. To be aware and to love. We need to find harmony within ourselves. End the inner conflict and find peace within.
Find your own truest path.
Let go of any limiting beliefs. Let go of any attachments. Forgive whoever needs forgiveness and apologize to clear your regrets. Find Love.
Find your light within. See your light in all people. Love your enemies.
Recognize the Ego, be aware of what makes it grow. Become aware of any negative thought patterns. Be disciplined.
Clear your own shadows. Face your Trauma. Heal your inner child.
Get free from all bodily addictions. Be free of fear. Be free of suffering.
See the beauty of all things. Find joy in every moment.
Surrender yourself. Follow the heart. Be proud and courageous. Accept your life and your story. Embrace your story, without being attached to it.
Find your purpose. End the Seeking.
Be your authentic Self. Express Love through your character.
Become Love.
.
.
.
This is a possible path. And I just gave you the map. It can be walked. It was walked before. But it is a path into unknown territory. Only the bravest of you can walk this path. It's not for the faintest of heart.
You see, you all either follow the path of the left and go westwards or you follow the path on the right and go eastwards... But no matter how far you go, you'll always end up at the crossroads again. You never make any real progress.
What if there is another path? What if there's another way? What if I say, 'let us go north?!'
.
.
.
Some of the crowd are in shock. Some are laughing. Others are mumbling.
“You can't walk north,” says a crow from the projectors. “It's impossible.”
“Everyone knows, that the northern road is a dead-end,” says an awakened Caterpillar. “It's a waste of time going up there. You can't go further, than the volcano.”
A psychonaut horse laughs. “That will be fun. Can't wait to see their disappointed faces, when they walk all the way back down.”
.
.
.
.
.
The Stranger continues undeterred:
.
Why are you walking the spiritual path?
You felt called to do it, didn't you? You felt something within you. Something made click. You understood, that there is a deeper truth, that you must find. There was this deep longing within you. So you started walking.
What were the first things, that you were seeking?
You were seeking answers.
What were your first questions? You were asking, 'What is my purpose?' You were asking 'Why am I here'?
And you have searched in so many places. But no matter which answer you got, you were never fully satisfied. Because it wasn't your answer. Because it was someone else's answer.
So you stopped seeking. Either you were content with some unfulfilling answers or you just simply gave up. When did you stop finding your own answers?
Dogma or tradition give us easy answers. When we are attached to them, when we build an identity around them, we become unable to find our own answers. But you can't end Seeking with someone elses answers. Only when you have claimed the answer for yourself, can the Seeker transform into something different. Into something new.
Just ending the Seeker, like cutting off a limb, won't do it. The Seeker needs to find their answer to the question 'What is my purpose?' Not one, they read from textbooks. Not an answer, that someone else can give them. When ONE has found their own unique purpose in life, then instead of 'seeking', there is only 'expressing'.”
.
.
.
“I see that you are advanced,” speaks an enlightened owl. “However you are blinded by idealism. When you stare into the abyss long enough, the abyss will stare back at you.”
.
“My friend,” says the Stranger. “I have not only stared into the abyss, I went to hell and back again to find my answer.”
.
.
.
Everyone falls silent, the Stranger continues:
“It was always here on earth. Heaven. It was always within us. Take a look around you. There is beauty in all things. If you search for it, you can find joy in every moment. Look for love in the world and you shall find love everywhere. Meet Life with gratitude and wonder. Face your experience, like an adventurer faces his challenge. Express unconditional love through your very being. Because this is how we heal Humanities greatest wound: The scar of nihilism.
It has all become so meaningless to us, hasn't it?
Memorizing knowledge at school or college, that you'll never need in real life. This feeling of being stuck in life. Day to day, going to a dead-end job for minimum wage. Living an unfulfilled life. The shattering of broken dreams. The tears of our suffering.
You know, why everything has become so meaningless?
We let our hearts get cold. After falling, we stopped getting back up again. We stopped facing our challenges.
You see, after every defeat, Humanity always got back up again. No matter how tough the challenge may seemed, Humanity never gave up.
We have forgotten, who we are.
All of us are Humanity. You, Me, everyone. We are all humanity. You, the individual human are HUMANITY. You are the Rest of mankind. Because we are all the same in our essence. When you open your heart, then this is your name: 'HUMANITY'
Because you see yourself in every other human. This is the name of the divine spark that sits within all of us. It is the fire, that burns in our eyes. This is Humanity: An archetype of victory and an idea of unity.
Let me ask you a very direct question. If we all came together to do our part, do you think that we could actually clean up the mess we have created? Do you think we have a chance of not only to survive but even to evolve as a species? And perhaps write even greater stories, than ever before?”
.
.
.
.
.
The entire crowd is silent. Most of them avoid eye contact. People start mumbling.
Then the crowd slowly gets louder again and the conversations on each table, continue as if nothing ever happened.
As the Stranger steps down from the chair, a monkey gets up from one of the tables, points his finger and screams:
“Look guys, this dude has ketchup on his outfit.”
.
.
While the crowd laughs at him, the Stranger goes to the bar and orders two beer. While he waits, he rubs off the ketchup stain from his clothes with his fingernails.
People are looking at him and the Seeker. The Seeker can't bear standing next to the Stranger and leaves the tavern. The Stranger pays for two beers. 140 Pesos. He then follows the Seeker outside.
.
.
“Wanna go already?” asks the Stranger while sipping from his beer.
“Those guys hate you now,” sighs the Seeker.
“Who cares?” shrugs the Stranger, while gulping down the beer in a single go.
.
.
.
A couple of animals exit the bar. All the animals, that had no place to fit in. All the animals that didn't belong. A rabbit, a cat, a goldfish, a squirrel, a bear, a fox, a goat, a pigeon, an eagle, a chicken in an alien costume and a dog.
.
“I will also follow my destiny,” speaks the eagle with determination. His heart is also activated.
.
.
“Alright,” says a bear with burning eyes. “Let's try going north... Perhaps this is how we'll finally get to Axis Mundi.”
.
“Going north... that sounds fun,” says the smiling fox. “Let's see how far, we'll come.”
.
“We are all gonna die anyway,” sighs the pessimistic goat.
.
“I never tried going north before,” contemplates the curious pigeon.
.
“10 bucks, that I am first at the top of the volcano,” bets the black cat, while looking at her claws.
.
“Deal,” agrees the dog, while hunting his own tail.
.
The rabbit thinks about the taste of carrots. She is hungry.
.
The squirrel is simply happy and excited for the new adventure. She can't stop dancing.
.
The goldfish has no idea, what he's actually doing. He just rolls around in a plastic bag.
“I... I will also walk my path,” speaks up the brave chicken in an alien costume. For the first time, the chickens eyes start burning.
.
.
.
Together, the new group of friends are traveling the northern road. Towards the volcano. As the sunset illuminates their backs, the animals start singing a new song. A song of excitement, of wonder and of bravery. A song, that goes something like: “We have found a way.”

Part 16: The awakening of the heart
.
.

Part 16: The awakening of the heart
.
.
The crossroads, where all timelines meet up: Where the westward and the eastward paths meets the northern road.
https://preview.redd.it/ickg0u2dft0d1.jpg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0b5fa4ecd9260473fd86ed9628198e80deec072d
Where the paths meet, stands a tavern. The lights are on. The chimney is smoking. A sign shows its name:
'The Red Ditch Inn'
https://preview.redd.it/otfmxareft0d1.jpg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2760ab4c688b32d48af5f0cbea7366d959f7e78e
.
Many tables with different animals of all species.
.
.
The table in the center of the bar, has a label saying: ''
Around that table sit all kinds of different birds and animals. Pigeons, squirrels, Reptiles, cats, dogs, wolves, foxes, crows, mice, sloths. They are mostly talking about crystals and past lives.
https://preview.redd.it/zqdv1ocgft0d1.jpg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4c1694d005d7da80fd8b1fc276df1a1ad769cfec
.
.
There was a table, which said: ''. There sat an old bear, who carries many scars, wounded by countless battles, teaching young bear cups, who attentively listen to their elders. Some are making notes.
https://preview.redd.it/va2u53fift0d1.jpg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=121c7846772401ef62d3eb891d316b117e5e2a95
Next to it, is a table with a label saying: 'Enlightenment'
There sit some parrots all repeating the same mantra in unison:
“BEFORE ENLIGHTENMENT CHOP WOOD CARRY WATER, AFTER ENLIGHTENMENT CHOP WOOD CARRY WATER.”
https://preview.redd.it/s8t5nhtjft0d1.jpg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2b85904c62c3eaff4933e26776c32e54d396ca79
.
“I am the eagle here!”
https://preview.redd.it/azxybwwkft0d1.jpg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=da0ba38b819bb49ed950234d0ecc7b4557241ca5
.
.
Next to it, is the table of ''. The chairs are completely empty. There is no one here.
https://preview.redd.it/5dtudmnmft0d1.jpg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=95cda16a7f7bdcde14e1c6acca920861fdb7bc0a
.
.
On the other side there is another table with many different birds and mammals, some more exotic animals from all around the world. The label says ''. There is someone constantly screaming at the top of their lungs:
“I AM A PROFFESIONAL PSYCHIC READER WITH 14 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE!”
https://preview.redd.it/htlx7t4oft0d1.jpg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=58c13f3390548abf946c42949897a24f749a805f
.
.
One table next to it is called ''.
“Psst guys, I think Fred may not be an actual Starseed.”
https://preview.redd.it/x4onlblpft0d1.jpg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3e87edf7926dd1266a4cda563d8e80566d457440
The other beings around the table start mumbling.
https://preview.redd.it/fo0eew2rft0d1.jpg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=97bbefc05e0cc815df9b76543844a973b48bc4e0
.
.
There is one more table called ''.
“Then I'll have 7 grams,” orders the racoon.
https://preview.redd.it/x822pqvsft0d1.jpg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=fc69a2b4b402b194f34ec41a34863f4328acf375
.
But few of them ever dared to walk northwards.
https://preview.redd.it/zzrinpkuft0d1.jpg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7d651c126cb4ae30f944140c6da14421ebc94f2d
You can't go further, than the volcano.”
https://preview.redd.it/xos6zkewft0d1.jpg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2c34f29fe33c8e1687f58d780097aa96018acdf2
When you stare into the abyss long enough, the abyss will stare back at you.”
https://preview.redd.it/dwfw2exxft0d1.jpg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f4a01cae5bb2c1d82c68ecbe3154896f35642262
140 Pesos. He then follows the Seeker outside.
https://preview.redd.it/j2e9vnjzft0d1.jpg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ecea680fc0e94cb3124a13ac41477df1d39b2197

The other beings around the table start mumbling.

.
.
There is one more table called 'psychonaut'.

You can't go further, than the volcano.”
https://preview.redd.it/256tkbmtet0d1.jpg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8c491cad6167b0c76d89912acb982896680c5c25
When you stare into the abyss long enough, the abyss will stare back at you.”
https://preview.redd.it/h7tuoxyuet0d1.jpg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9860a1898e152494702f1ceb66b4775a704e5b2e
140 Pesos. He then follows the Seeker outside.
https://preview.redd.it/pakf4h8xet0d1.jpg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3bf47486101804a5e86c15339ea5467d46b967c9
His heart is also activated.
.
https://preview.redd.it/8m8ulzeyet0d1.jpg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1980e430d5438bfff06a6e02d6825d4af6901021
.
“Alright,” says a bear with burning eyes. “Let's try going north... Perhaps this is how we'll finally get to Axis Mundi.”
.
“Going north... that sounds fun,” says the smiling fox. “Let's see how far, we'll come.”
https://preview.redd.it/f8n3reqzet0d1.jpg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=87f0b62adf34c6a685f9462cfe3571d96ef77453
He just rolls around in a plastic bag.
https://preview.redd.it/uh28v451ft0d1.jpg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a5c5830ecbb9334b89c7ece128434cea4c431c91

Walking the Path together (Part 16)

Part 16: The awakening of the heart
.
.
The crossroads, where all timelines meet up: Where the westward and the eastward paths meets the northern road.
https://preview.redd.it/oqc06uf6dt0d1.jpg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=cbaf67402c9e8a329d687c02cf702e80e04efecf
Where the paths meet, stands a tavern. The lights are on. The chimney is smoking. A sign shows its name:
'The Red Ditch Inn'
https://preview.redd.it/6whs3tj7dt0d1.jpg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=820ac22a874776c86e754d0382bde5f5735ccaec
.
They are mostly talking about crystals and past lives.
https://preview.redd.it/1gczavj8dt0d1.jpg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a043fd5f0a8e19b6741d4142e627a9ff04c61a40
.
.
There was a table, which said: 'AstralProjection'. There sat an old bear, who carries many scars, wounded by countless battles, teaching young bear cups, who attentively listen to their elders. Some are making notes.
https://preview.redd.it/cs1bnyw9dt0d1.jpg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d0dc23c517d3228eb12105a714957e7e640ecdb5
.
.
Next to it, is a table with a label saying: 'enlightenment'
There sit some parrots all repeating the same mantra in unison:
“BEFORE ENLIGHTENMENT CHOP WOOD CARRY WATER, AFTER ENLIGHTENMENT CHOP WOOD CARRY WATER.”
https://preview.redd.it/gpm5171cdt0d1.jpg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=51e94aa82f38d74ca688e52ac6b6353a9bf0a20f
.
“I am the eagle here!”
https://preview.redd.it/t6ih4otddt0d1.jpg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f43ad75ac85304530493f99c0040fcfca8e4e828
.
.
Next to it, is the table of 'nonduality'. The chairs are completely empty. There is no one here.
https://preview.redd.it/02lskmefdt0d1.jpg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7bb62a9d0282b31fac7592ed1f5318a75a59b05a
.
.
On the other side there is another table with many different birds and mammals, some more exotic animals from all around the world. The label says 'soulnexus'. There is someone constantly screaming at the top of their lungs:
“I AM A PROFFESIONAL PSYCHIC READER WITH 14 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE!”
https://preview.redd.it/yeejn1zgdt0d1.jpg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=bf306e303a289eef68cdcd5c89a14d65dbe7124f

Some small and green beings, others big and gray, some with fur, some with scales, some humanoid. They were mostly talking about the past, exchanging some old memories. Among them is a chicken, who wears an alien costume.

The other beings around the table start mumbling.

.

There is one more table called 'psychonaut'.
“Last time I've seen you, I was like in DMT realm.”

.

The Seeker has a sudden thought and looks at the Stranger.
“What does the ' slash' on the tables, stand for?”

“Wanna go already?” asks the Stranger while sipping from his beer.
“Those guys hate you now,” sighs the Seeker.
“Who cares?” shrugs the Stranger, while gulping down the beer in a single go.

“10 bucks, that I am first at the top of the volcano,” bets the black cat, while looking at her claws.

“Deal,” agrees the dog, while hunting his own tail.
.
The rabbit thinks about the taste of carrots. She is hungry.

The squirrel is simply happy and excited for the new adventure. She can't stop dancing.

The awakening of the heart

Walking the Path together (Part 16)

https://preview.redd.it/gv32hf51ct0d1.jpg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=864da1cf306284690c455923b9de936c49ad821e
Part 16: The awakening of the heart
.
.
The crossroads, where all timelines meet up: Where the westward and the eastward paths meets the northern road.
https://preview.redd.it/85kn0ny1ct0d1.jpg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=678f88d2406df9b49c88f2a3ba64634c2cf5bb41
Where the paths meet, stands a tavern. The lights are on. The chimney is smoking. A sign shows its name:
'The Red Ditch Inn'
https://preview.redd.it/tpv8jlg3ct0d1.jpg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=05933876c9ccff79b1712bbe3acdc879b1fe2f51
.
They are mostly talking about crystals and past lives.
https://preview.redd.it/ghvsmir4ct0d1.jpg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=cdad2e4f786c596b58093d3c4cb7f72510a57520
.
.
There was a table, which said: 'AstralProjection'. There sat an old bear, who carries many scars, wounded by countless battles, teaching young bear cups, who attentively listen to their elders. Some are making notes.
https://preview.redd.it/e2s92fn6ct0d1.jpg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=09dc56b1b7b1703613d465aeabf5fe26a34b2899
Next to it, is a table with a label saying: 'enlightenment'
There sit some parrots all repeating the same mantra in unison:
“BEFORE ENLIGHTENMENT CHOP WOOD CARRY WATER, AFTER ENLIGHTENMENT CHOP WOOD CARRY WATER.”
https://preview.redd.it/muwxyup8ct0d1.jpg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a99ce19a2ee2f213449c992f55f274f3576716e2
.
“I am the eagle here!”
https://preview.redd.it/cws8x8dact0d1.jpg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=703f91e5838aea4c1b9624fcf03075e746bf49d7
.
.
Next to it, is the table of 'nonduality'. The chairs are completely empty. There is no one here.
https://preview.redd.it/4j5c4onbct0d1.jpg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1db36ca79b08c1f82a3e932c4877579fcc936e9e
.
.
On the other side there is another table with many different birds and mammals, some more exotic animals from all around the world. The label says 'Soulnexus'. There is someone constantly screaming at the top of their lungs:
“I AM A PROFFESIONAL PSYCHIC READER WITH 14 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE!”
https://preview.redd.it/48tgcz0dct0d1.jpg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=55ea028e1ef98f771254429f18b804fdbd50262b
.
“Psst guys, I think Fred may not be an actual Starseed.”
https://preview.redd.it/s975khnect0d1.jpg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ea9005020ccd170d4690c9b41f7869349dbeb577
The other beings around the table start mumbling.
https://preview.redd.it/9lu9txyfct0d1.jpg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5724237e3aa5080d13f9534a272b94fccdaa1d62
.
.
There is one more table called 'Psychonaut'.
“Then I'll have 7 grams,” orders the racoon.
https://preview.redd.it/72nw6nwhct0d1.jpg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a153488d9e923a0c7e081641e572a866b07df3ca
.
But few of them ever dared to walk northwards.
https://preview.redd.it/49ytl6hjct0d1.jpg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=dac9d5eda545fd4d7cd074e5ca2cc853d45f10cd

Part 16: The awakening of the heart
.
.
The crossroads, where all timelines meet up: Where the westward and the eastward paths meets the northern road.
https://preview.redd.it/y91yf0hnat0d1.jpg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6f6aa56566d958d949b60ffc9a25d7acf648ae88
Where the paths meet, stands a tavern. The lights are on. The chimney is smoking. A sign shows its name:
'The Red Ditch Inn'
https://preview.redd.it/juftmsbpat0d1.jpg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ce590d32986f652979736d6e4a0f7a718953d8b0
.
They are mostly talking about crystals and past lives.
https://preview.redd.it/51hygx7rat0d1.jpg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f7e21f854aa849d0e1647c73551cf69886802857
.
.
There was a table, which said: 'AstralProjection'. There sat an old bear, who carries many scars, wounded by countless battles, teaching young bear cups, who attentively listen to their elders. Some are making notes.
https://preview.redd.it/jhdust7tat0d1.jpg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f6c6edefe29376b1664a6e5a1496f50cba530e53
Next to it, is a table with a label saying: 'enlightenment'
There sit some parrots all repeating the same mantra in unison:
“BEFORE ENLIGHTENMENT CHOP WOOD CARRY WATER, AFTER ENLIGHTENMENT CHOP WOOD CARRY WATER.”
https://preview.redd.it/k4mn0ouuat0d1.jpg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5e6f44ee5f2604a334a3db3beda9b470510f2072
.
“I am the eagle here!”
https://preview.redd.it/qssf2ykwat0d1.jpg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=419021543f18a7ea9479a3baed8dab11591b4800
.
.
Next to it, is the table of 'nonduality'. The chairs are completely empty. There is no one here.
https://preview.redd.it/wroiy1fyat0d1.jpg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ac3c6674cd8f4e6417659dd75428b2288d49ceab
.
.
On the other side there is another table with many different birds and mammals, some more exotic animals from all around the world. The label says 'Soulnexus'. There is someone constantly screaming at the top of their lungs:
“I AM A PROFFESIONAL PSYCHIC READER WITH 14 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE!”
https://preview.redd.it/h0us9l00bt0d1.jpg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=849553e6990e3e929cb4a9a260dff7f5eeec2822
.
“Psst guys, I think Fred may not be an actual Starseed.”
https://preview.redd.it/rm7q76p1bt0d1.jpg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3ecfe01dab9efac7c5e72bfbfe33bb8cc7767af7
The other beings around the table start mumbling.
https://preview.redd.it/yt1k1ye3bt0d1.jpg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=227247bb01d8a3e55609027f8ab174d6ae73d22a
.
.
There is one more table called 'psychonaut'.
“Then I'll have 7 grams,” orders the racoon.
https://preview.redd.it/0ietwc55bt0d1.jpg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b9743c7ce4a41d96bdd79eca2e3a94a25f39aeb8
.
But few of them ever dared to walk northwards.
https://preview.redd.it/5q5msvr6bt0d1.jpg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a38f7d94b60f2b9e4d6c434c0e5dba42e3eb42e0
You can't go further, than the volcano.”
https://preview.redd.it/unxwjos8bt0d1.jpg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3a39000508c04db0ea2e8b8c73af3b0484e893f5
When you stare into the abyss long enough, the abyss will stare back at you.”
https://preview.redd.it/wzo56e2bbt0d1.jpg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=cf49158aa39d115cfe22cd60a4b5c1502d11e246
140 Pesos. He then follows the Seeker outside.
https://preview.redd.it/e6z1vs8dbt0d1.jpg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=87abe2474b38b4db1520beec2fc576fa2f8aead4
His heart is also activated.
.
https://preview.redd.it/e7mfutlebt0d1.jpg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=54b88c6a4710f71cabdd77897773f51be8b247ec
.
“Alright,” says a bear with burning eyes. “Let's try going north... Perhaps this is how we'll finally get to Axis Mundi.”
.
“Going north... that sounds fun,” says the smiling fox. “Let's see how far, we'll come.”
https://preview.redd.it/4ewd3xegbt0d1.jpg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8b37bff14424cd6f0f95cd988c32595de8f3f454
He just rolls around in a plastic bag.
https://preview.redd.it/tl493tdibt0d1.jpg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c8c3a131d0e3dab7174ef2bc7b7ea0b5d26ba1aa

But few of them ever dared to walk northwards.
https://preview.redd.it/xnc7yukk7t0d1.jpg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3bf81669e821e6674aa1d5b0dc6f9484dcd63c03
You can't go further, than the volcano.”
https://preview.redd.it/r40gfkx28t0d1.jpg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1f2431635af381f0a9bee525d4e661ce6e45a0b9
When you stare into the abyss long enough, the abyss will stare back at you.”
https://preview.redd.it/tyhax8ca8t0d1.jpg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=11df4212c1a8ea72fa5d000234c33710bffc7c3c
140 Pesos. He then follows the Seeker outside.
https://preview.redd.it/7ph64bps8t0d1.jpg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b2492025ebf3dd76f7fce33da83fefe761f4deca
His heart is also activated.
.
https://preview.redd.it/7lcknwky8t0d1.jpg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4fc53b343d407311dd59f50cb23c910754a357ff
.
“Alright,” says a bear with burning eyes. “Let's try going north... Perhaps this is how we'll finally get to Axis Mundi.”
.
“Going north... that sounds fun,” says the smiling fox. “Let's see how far, we'll come.”
https://preview.redd.it/pxzr6rr39t0d1.jpg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=508c5a3cb8dbb8ad29887001e9f986ea52d509cd
He just rolls around in a plastic bag.
https://preview.redd.it/z0u1b1de9t0d1.jpg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=efc55fa42a8393145afc72cf7fcb2717c949d9f5

2024.05.16 07:35 Pommallow Headcanons regarding Jeff Andonuts (and Tony!) [contains spoilers]

I saw both the Lucas and Flint headcanon threads, so I'm doing one for Jeff Andonuts (and Tony)!
This will mostly be based on Earthbound, but I'll also mention some based on late-game or even as far as Mother 3, but I could only tag for one series. I'll try my best to block out what *would* be a spoiler, but let me know if I missed something. It's a long post, sorry.
Jeff Andonuts (beginning + middle of the game):
Jeff Andonuts (endgame + post-game) - more spoilers here
Tony (beginning + middle of the game)
Tony (endgame + postgame)
Bonus: Maxwell Labs
This is what I'm able to remember for now, since ideas come and go. I would like to hear other people's theories, and if you want to comment on mine, go for it!

2024.05.16 07:31 ihaveacrushonmercy For those who have moved around to different climates, how have you found the weather to affect the overall culture of a place?

For example, grew up in southern California for most of my life. I find that the almost constant sunny weather and mild winters contributes to a culture of "Always gotta be doing something" or to be on a constant trajectory to somewhere, whether that's physically or spiritually. Also, I've lived in the Pacific Northwest for a couple years and have found that the dominating overcast weather and cold temperatures contributed to a culture where it's ok to just take one day at a time and to not judge others because you don't know what they are going through (literally you don't know because everyone is inside for most of the year). Anyways, these are just my 2 cent thoughts. What are your armchair psychology analysis of the weather patterns affecting culture in your experiences?

2024.05.16 06:24 TonyBikini Platinum done 🫡

Here hoping for a spiritual successor. Favorite fromsoft title yet.
Hardest bosses: 1- SSI 2- DOH 3- OF
With all of darksouls done, next on the list is elden ring and a bunch of souls like i bought lately, but keeping them all for next winter. Sekiro will be hard to beat in terms of gameplay and setting. I really hope they pick back that formula for a new game down the line.
Cheers!

2024.05.16 06:05 Natural_Attitude_480 IFU by not accepting a PhD offer

This is more so about an event that happened a month ago but the crushing weight of it all has set in and I want to use it as a precautionary tale for anyone else in the future. Apologies for the ramble/length of it in advance.
I had gotten into my dream program for my discipline but I was mentally and spiritually not ready. Once I received the offer in February, I was excited but it slowly turned into a deep fear and distain to the point of my chest hurting, incessant headaches, getting regular heart palpitations. My discipline is (or was) computational biology and I had begun to sow seeds of doubt/overthinking in my applications during the winter before. I somehow slowly began to convince myself I’d never amount to any great phd student and my work would be worthless and terrible if I even tried. I ruminated unendingly, stressed unendingly of having forgotten how to code and would never love it again, and that my masters and undergrad theses that I had worked incessantly on in undergrad and masters school were all worthless and built off of the work of others rather than anything I was actually proud of. I didn’t want to acknowledge I was capable, I convinced myself I hated what I accomplished and I’d be miserable if I tried to find joy in what I did again.
During my visits to the most beautiful campus I’d dreamed of for so long, I felt a deep pit of hate towards what I’d do if I was there and that I’d be slaving away for nothing useful for anyone. I dissociated during my interviews with the faculty during the visit, only thinking about how this wouldn’t work out, giving my spiel about my research, and feeling pained whenever they complimented me on how impressed they were with my application. I was angered by how happy the PhD students seemed with their quality of life. I asked them questions like “how often do you work 12 hour days alone? How do you manage depression with your work?” I explained how I worked for two years in isolation in a basement lab on two separate 200 page theses in the span of two years on top of some pubs in undergrad and grad school and was wondering if there was any similar sense of stress and loneliness. They looked confused.
This pain morphed into a warped idea of: “I’d be bettemore useful being a doctor instead because at least I could help people, be useful, and the work load wouldn’t be as stressful. It’s more stable and sounds easier! I’ve shadowed a few times, I could do that! Looks fun!”
I got obsessed with analyzing the volatility of my industry and the way contributing to this science would be terrible for humanity. That AI would displace the coding jobs, that there were too many PhDs in the world and not enough MDs. I convinced myself I hated coding. I convinced myself I hated doing science.
The PI who was interested in me was so excited to work with me, I was excited to work with him but my doubt and fear mounted everyday and I increasingly convinced myself it wouldn’t be good for me to do this and I needed to be a doctor instead. The idea that I was taking up space from people who actually wanted this spot became a mounting burden mentally as well.
Up to this point, the whole year I’d been living at home with my parents with no friends doing nothing but extra coursework and part time consulting to keep me busy so the mounting depression and loneliness led to excessive rumination on how I needed to not do a PhD.
Then the April 15 deadline. I didn’t press accept or deny. I pressed back and forth between the two options on the portal, then the timer ran out. And it all set in what I had done.
Instead of the relief and calm I hoped for once it ran out, I was met only with a deep sense of grief and despair. I informed the PI who was interested in me about what happened and apologized to him for not being able to accept at this time. he immediately called my phone. I explained how I just couldn’t at this time, that I just had too many doubts. He told me “it sounds like you just have imposter syndrome, in my 30years I hadn’t seen an applicant at your level for a while, I think you’d be a great scientist, if you still are interested we can still get you in.” Then it finally set in. I am a scientist, i need to create knowledge, not just regurgitate and apply it. I just had developed an unhealthy relationship with my work in the past and had distorted who I actually am and am talented at through endless rumination. I then told him yes, I do want to attend and he let the dept know.
In the end, I didn’t get in. The whole dept understood my situation and were willing to still accept but the head of the grad school said no. Nothing could be done after the deadline. I implored her for an explanation why if the program wanted to still accept me, why I couldn’t get in. It had only been 24 hours past the deadline by this point. Still just “I can appreciate your dismay, sorry need to apply next year.” The program wants me to reapply next year as they really loved my application but now Im honestly just trying to figure out if/how I’ll ever even get in again in a year, gain trust back from the dept, and whether I should give up at this point.
Don’t let the your thoughts on why things won’t work out dictate how it can work out for you. You don’t have to know everything or be completely competent in all the disciplines entering in. Doing a PhD is about being trained to figure that out. I have to learn to forgive myself for denying myself the opportunity to try.
