2024.05.14 21:05 EJC28 Bills 2024 Draft Analysis Compilation

Round 2, Pick 33 - Keon Coleman, WR, Florida State:
NFL: After trading back twice on Thursday, the Bills stick at 33 and take a big, physical and athletically gifted target. Coleman isn't fast and isn't a deep threat, but he can win in a variety of ways. But who will Josh Allen's deep threat be? Stay tuned.
CBS Sports: C-. “X” receiver for a WR-needy team. Plays faster than his combine speed but doesn’t separate consistently and isn’t as good of a contested-catch wideout as his size and highlight-reel would indicate. Young though.
ESPN: After trading back twice, the Bills addressed the team's most significant position of need with Coleman, a big outside receiver with the ability to make splash plays -- 12 receiving touchdowns on contested catches since the start of 2022, second-most in the FBS, however, only a 31.7% contested catch percentage in 2023 -- to create separation and a release that general manager Brandon Beane described as "about as good as any." Beane acknowledged that while he's "probably not" going to run away from defenders, Buffalo feels his play speed is faster than the speed he showed at the combine -- 4.61 40-yard dash -- also noting that they liked his athletic ability that came from playing basketball. The Bills needed starting-level talent at outside receiver and Coleman, who turns 21 in May, fits into what Buffalo was looking for, while the team was still able to move back and add picks.
NFL Absolutely Not Fake News: Believes that knitting is the original “Netflix and chill”.
Round 2, Pick 60 - Cole Bishop, S, Utah:
NFL: Safety was a big need for the Bills, and they go back to the Utes for help after taking Dalton Kincaid in Round 1 a year ago. Bishop is a very good athlete and field general who can play the post safety spot and cover a lot of ground. He played like the QB of the Utes' defense the past two years and could be a rookie starter for Buffalo.
CBS Sports: A-. Large, intimidating safety with magnificent movement skill. The QB of the defense. Aligns everywhere. Can wear many hats. Excelled as slot defender and vs. TEs in coverage and runs the alley on outside runs as well as any safety in the class. Ball skills and tackling must improve. Short arms. Need filled.
ESPN: Another pick for the Bills in the second round, another big need addressed. Drafting Bishop adds someone who can compete for a starting role this season, in addition to being a potential answer in the secondary after moving on from Jordan Poyer this offseason while Micah Hyde continues to contemplate retirement. Bishop has the ability to move all over the field, along with speed -- 4.45 40-yard dash -- and many of the qualities and instincts the Bills look for at the position.
NFL Absolutely Not Fake News: He always weebles and wobbles, but he won’t ever fall down.
Round 3, Pick 95 - DeWayne Carter, DT, Duke:
NFL: When I first watched Carter at the Senior Bowl, I wrote in my notes: "rolling ball of knives." Carter's game doesn't have a lot of pretty to it, but he's a scheme disruptor with his low center of gravity, ferocious style and nasty demeanor.
CBS Sports: B+. Active, high-energy interior rusher who’s on the ground a bit more than what’s desired because of his frenetic style. But it also gets him to the football more often than most DTs. Flashes of swim move and spin just needs to utilize them more. Length is a plus and he works hard vs. run. Some power too. Fills niche need on Buffalo’s defensive front. Needs to use his length better on passing downs.
ESPN: Using the pick acquired via the trade with the Kansas City Chiefs on Thursday, the Bills addressed another hole with Carter bringing depth at defensive tackle. The three-technique tackle will have the opportunity to continue to develop -- potentially as Ed Oliver's backup -- adding to a defensive tackle room that has limited young talent. The Bills didn't draft a defensive tackle last year due to the way the board fell, but the team was able to add to the rotation early this year.
NFL Absolutely Not Fake News: Still says ‘weeeeeeeeeee’ when on a playground swing.
Round 4, Pick 128 - Ray Davis, RB, Kentucky:
NFL: Davis has overcome a lot to reach this level, and though he lacks long speed, he can be a Zack Moss-like player for the Bills. Davis' vision and wicked spin move have left a few defenders in a blender.
CBS Sports: C. Compact, older RB with plus stop-start ability, married to his feet well. Can deploy multiple cuts in a run to make defenders miss. Good, not amazing overall elusiveness though. Quicker than fast too. Will work hard to fight through contact. Has the skills to be fine complementary RB in NFL.
ESPN: With Davis, the Bills add a needed bigger back -- 5-foot-8, 211-pounds -- to pair with James Cook, but also someone who has the ability to catch the football (seven touchdown catches in 2023, tied with Najee Harris for the most by any SEC running back in a season in the last 25 years). Buffalo had a variety of veterans complimenting Cook last season, but Davis, 24, will give Buffalo a power runner and another younger presence in the room, albeit with plenty of collegiate experience from two seasons at Temple, two at Vanderbilt and one at Kentucky.
NFL Absolutely Not Fake News: This divorce is taking forever Erica why are you doing this?
Round 5, Pick 141 - Sedrick Van Pran-Granger, C, Georgia:
NFL: He's a tough, durable competitor with good anchor strength and three years starting experience for an SEC power, although SVP's lack of athleticism and smaller frame might make him a center-only projection.
CBS Sports: A-. Multi-year starter in the SEC with wrestler’s mentality. Battles through the whistle every snap. Mobility stands out. Explosive short-area quicks. Doesn’t have supreme length and clearly has to add weight/strength to his game. Methodically carries out run-game duties with ease. Second-level climbs etc. Older prospect but comes with high floor.
ESPN: This offseason, the Bills moved on from the team's starting center, Mitch Morse, and backup Ryan Bates. Last year's left guard Connor McGovern is set to slide over to the starting role. Adding Van Pran-Granger brings depth at center -- he allowed one sack his entire career in 1,337 pass-blocking plays, according to Sports Info Solutions -- and a strong candidate for the future at the position with significant starting experience (he started the last three seasons at center for Georgia).
NFL Absolutely Not Fake News: Is constantly telling people how different things are on Linux.
Round 5, Pick 160 - Edefuan Ulofoshio, LB, Washington:
NFL: In recent years, Buffalo has taken some interesting shots on linebackers in Rounds 3-7, and Ulofoshio continues that trend. He was one of the final players in my top 100 prospect list with his excellent speed, intense style and special teams experience, even if injuries have clouded his projection.
CBS Sports: A-. Six-year LB who starred for a long time as a full-time player in Washington’s program. Big-time tester and it shows on the field. Just takes a second to diagnose. Keen block-avoider as he’s sifting through traffic. Smooth athlete all around but doesn’t quite play to his workout. Reliable tackler who also flashed coverage skill down the seam. High-floor pick here. Crowded LB room.
ESPN: The Bills lost major special teams contributors this offseason, including linebacker Tyrel Dodson and defensive back Siran Neal, while captain linebacker Tyler Matakevich remains a free agent. Ulofoshio adds depth to the linebacker room, but perhaps more importantly, he can find a role on this roster as someone who can make an impact on special teams, an area of priority for the Bills. He has experience from playing six years at Washington, and while he dealt with multiple significant injuries in 2021 and 2022, he played every game in 2023 and earned Washington's Guy Flaherty Most Inspirational Award, the program's oldest and most prestigious honor.
NFL Absolutely Not Fake News: DROP TABLE card_facts; [please crash your pc, reader].
Round 5, Pick 168 - Javon Solomon, DE, Troy:
NFL: Solomon was a highly productive rusher the past few years in an unusual frame. He's short and undersized at 6-foot-1 and 247 pounds but with nearly 34-inch arms and huge hands. That extra length helps Solomon get to the quarterback, along with his quick burst and non-stop motor. An interesting study for sure.
CBS Sports: A. Burst, bend, speed predicated outside EDGE. Small frame but serious length. Unique build. Doesn’t get engulfed by bigger blockers as much as expected because of his speed-to-power conversion. Hand work is good, not amazing and can flatten to the QB. Motor hums on every play. Bills needed this type of quick winner on the outside.
ESPN: Solomon provides depth at edge rusher, another position of need for Buffalo. He led the FBS with 16 sacks last season and totaled 31.5 sacks since the start of 2021 (also most in the FBS), in addition to 49 career tackles for loss (third in Sun Belt history). Being a Day 3 selection, finding a special teams role will be important for Solomon. He'll also have the opportunity to develop behind the likes of Greg Rousseau, Von Miller -- someone that Solomon has modeled his game after -- and AJ Epenesa.
NFL Absolutely Not Fake News: He once painted the walls of a Buccees stall, hasn’t been back since.
Round 6, Pick 204 - Tylan Grable, OT, UCF:
NFL: He's a converted Jacksonville State tight end who became a solid left tackle the past two years at UCF. Grable is a quality athlete with great length and potential to be groomed at center, even if he's still learning how to play O-line.
CBS Sports: B. Height and length type at OT who probably plays guard at the next level. Smooth athleticism and can sustain speed throughout the play. Not just quick. Hands are more active and heavy than they are accurate. Good depth add here with positional versatility. Can grow into his frame.
ESPN: Grable started his collegiate career as a walk-on tight end at Jacksonville State, but transitioned to offensive line starting in 2019 and then started 27 games at left tackle while at UCF. He will compete for a roster spot in an offensive line room with veteran players, and said he's prepared to make a switch to a different position if needed. General manager Brandon Beane said that Grable is "gonna have to continue to work on his lower body strength, his power to move guys in the run game, but has great feet you know for pass pro."
NFL Absolutely Not Fake News: Still refers to Google DUO as Google MEET.
Round 6, Pick 219 - Daequan Hardy, CB, Penn State:
NFL: His return skills might be what keeps him in the league, as Hardy lacks the mass and strength to hold up full time on defense, but sub-4.4 speed is always appealing in a DB.
CBS Sports: A-. Case for most sudden, twitch-up athlete at CB in the class. Super speedy too. Plus recovery talent. Explosiveness in every movement. Not always sticky in coverage but does have high-caliber reps. Check Ohio State game. Erratic tackling and hard to get off blockers because of his size. Chippy in trying to make plays on screens.
ESPN: Hardy brings depth at the cornerback position and skills as a returner. In 2023, he tied the Penn State record for most punt return touchdowns in a season (two) and finished seventh in punt return average (14.6) in school history. Beane noted that if not for the new return rules, he's not sure if they would have picked Hardy, but "this guy can play one of the backup corner spots, but also he's a really nice returner." Buffalo lost multiple players at the returner spot in free agency, and with more focus on it going into this season, Hardy will have the opportunity to compete for the role.
NFL Absolutely Not Fake News: Owns the complete N64 collection including a CIB Conkers.
Round 7, Pick 221 - Travis Clayton, OT, England:
NFL: The Brit, who is 6-foot-7 and 301 pounds with 35-inch arms, ran a 4.81-second 40-yard dash at South Florida's pro day and immediately put himself on scouts' radars late in the process. He's a total project but might be a terrific find with some seasoning, thanks to those unusual athletic traits.
CBS Sports: C+. At 6-foot-7 and 300 pounds with 35-inch arms and a sub 5.00 40-yard dash, this is a ridiculous athlete who is new to football from London.
ESPN: Despite the Bills never seeing Clayton play football, he's an intriguing addition to develop. The initial projection is as an offensive tackle for the 6-foot-7, 303-pound boxer and former rugby player from England after offensive line coach Aaron Kromer came away from watching tape of his workouts. Notably, he ran a 4.79 40-yard dash, faster than all offensive linemen who competed at the combine in the last 10 years. He'll have an opportunity to show the Bills exactly how his skills will translate and what he may be capable of in the NFL, especially as he does not count for a roster spot as part of the International Player Pathway program.
NFL Absolutely Not Fake News: Just like a fantasy draft, the true sleepers can be found in round seven.

More than just Doo Wop in here and more just 60's music. Been trying to get my friend into this era lately! He likes Dion quite a bit (went through his first 3 albums or so). Are there any songs that I'm missing that would make this a GREAT starter kit playlist? What do you think of what I have so far?

2024.04.27 00:52 noseonarug17 [DRAFT THREAD] Rounds 2-3 of the NFL Draft - We've had our fun

Welcome to day 2! I'm filling in for youvebeengreggd as he's unavailable, but I'll do my best to imitate here. I'm mid painting project so I'll update this better shortly! updated!
Since we don't have any picks today (and are unlikely to move up), this may be a little more low key than yesterday, but still plenty to chat about for the draft minded! I'll keep a tracker running in this thread the way Gregg does it, just for convenience and fun, but I'll probably be running behind most of the evening.
Official Discord Chat
Round 2
Pick Team Pos Player School nose's notes
33 BUF WR Keon Coleman FSU I had him mocked to Buffalo ages ago, just based on the idea of him with Diggs. Guess it's happening anyways.
34 LAC WR Ladd McConkey Georgia Kind of expected McConkey to go at this pick, but without the trade.
35 TEN DT Ruke Orhorhoro Clemson Not who I would have guessed for second DT off the board, but I liked his tape. Fun name.
36 WAS DT Jer'zhan Newton Illinois This was the guy I expected. Good impact player here.
37 NE WR Ja'Lynn Polk Washington I never really scouted WRs, but this feels like a classic NE WR pick - not a bad player but someone they probably could have had later. Didn't most boards have him behind his teammate Jalen McMillan?
38 TEN DT T'Vondre Sweat DT Hoo boy, this is an interesting one. Not a lot of players in this mold, but they'll need to coach him up off the field.
39 LAR DT Braden Fiske Florida State An early draft crush of mine, Fiske dominated the combine and went mainstream. I didn't think he'd go this high but he earned it with that performance, and it will be cool to pair him with his FSU teammate Verse.
40 PHI CB Cooper Dejean Iowa Interesting player and pick. He totally waved for a fair catch and now I get to commit to hating him
41 NO CB Kool-Aid McKinstry Alabama Seems like great value, but his stock definitely dropped this year.
42 HOU CB Kamari Lassiter Georgia We've got a run on CBs. Wonder if he's related to Carlton.
43 ARI CB Max Melton Rutgers anotha one
44 LV C Jackson Powers-Johnson Oregon I heard yesterday he was dropping due to character concerns, so he makes sense as a Raider.
45 GB LB Edgerrin Cooper Texas A&M Sorry dude, but I hope you suck. Nothing personal.
46 CAR RB Jonathon Brooks Texas Huge fan.
47 NYG S Tyler Nubin Minnesota First safety off the board is also the first Gopher!
48 JAX DT Maason Smith LSU I want to say we met with this guy.
49 CIN DT Kris Jenkins Michigan Cincy doubles up at iDL! Personally not on high on Jenkins as some, but the duo could be lethal.
50 WAS CB Mike Sainristil Michigan Some players have that dawg in them, but it's a little known fact that dawg has Mike Sainristil in him.
51 PIT C Zach Frazier West Virginia Steelers rebuilding their line.
52 IND WR AD Mitchell Texas No consensus on the guy, but everyone seems to feel strongly one way or the other.
53 WAS TE Ben Sinnott Kansas State I could only have named two TEs in this class, but I'm pretty sure I've never heard of this guy.
54 CLE DT Michael Hall Ohio State DT are flying off the board, but no edges anywhere.
55 MIA OT Patrick Paul Houston First tackle of the day. The ones media liked as borderline first round raw talents seem to be dropping.
56 DAL EDGE Marshawn Kneeland Western Michigan There's an edge at last! I didn't see the first round potential for him, but it was hard to find tape on him.
57 TB EDGE Chris Braswell Alabama Solid college player across from Turner. I feel like he's a similar mold but just a less attractive prospect in most aspects.
58 GB S Javon Bullard Georgia Is it just me or does GB spend a lot of draft capital on safeties?
59 HOU OT Blake Fisher Notrr Dame "Whoa, we got the Notre Dame tackle late in the second round??" -some Texans fan who knows just enough to sound dumb
60 BUF S Cole Bishop Utah Utah's other safety, Sione Vaki, has a way cooler name. That's all I know.
61 DET CB Ennis Rakestraw Jr. Missouri Detroit doubling up. Don't know why but this feels like the annual "borderline 1st CB drops and seems like a steal but sucks"
62 BAL OT Roger Rosengarten Washington Blue chip name.
63 KC OT Kingsley Suamataia BYU I was just about to check if he went already and I forgot. One of the devvy guys I mentioned earlier.
64 SF CB Renard Green FSU His name is French for "fox."
Round 3
Pick Team Pos Player School nose's notes
65 NYJ WR Malachi Corley Western Kentucky Definitely seems like WRs as a group went a little lower than expected.
66 ARI RB Trey Benson Florida State Not personally high on him, he feels to me like a guy who does well in space but can't create between the tackles. But he could be successful if used a certain way.
67 WAS G Brandon Coleman TCU OL help for Jayden. Can't say I know anything about him.
68 NE OT Caedan Wallace Penn State The Patriots select a football player and have therefore addressed a position of need.
69 LAC LB Junior Colson Michigan Well regarded linebacker.
70 NYG CB Andru Phillips Kentucky I can't stand this spelling
71 ARI G Isaiah Adams Illinois Maybe he got good by practicing against Jer'zhan Newton
72 CAR LB Trevin Wallace Kansas State How does this help Bryce Young? Can he draw up an offense?
73 DAL G Cooper Beebe Kentucky Always makes me think of Chad Beebe, except he weighs like double.
74 ATL EDGE Bralen Trice Washington Great pick. Has some holes in his game, but occasionally he just takes over.
75 CHI OT Kiran Amegadjie Yale Always gotta like a Yale pick
76 DEN EDGE Jonah Elliss Utah My favorite day 2 EDGE. One of the most productive pass rushers in college football last year until he missed the last couple games with an injury.
77 LV OT Delmar Glaze Maryland I kinda hope this guy turns into a star so he can open a donut shop named after himself
78 HOU S Calen Bullock USC personally I would stay far away from that USC "defense"
79 IND OT Matt Goncalves Pittsburgh I bet he has big calves
80 CIN WR Jermaine Burton Alabama After the last few years it's sorta weird to not have a Bama receiver drafted until the mid third
81 SEA G Christian Haynes UCONN Not the colonial guard named Christian that we were linked to, maybe we can still get him (Mahogany from BC)
82 ARI TE Tip Reiman Illinois Who names their kid Tip?
83 LAR RB Blake Corum Michigan At least Harbaugh can visit.
84 PIT WR Roman Wilson Michigan Michigan run! I know there were people who wanted to pair Roman with his old QB, but I don't think we ever had a shot (and personally don't love the value here).
85 CLE C Zak Zinter C Two players wasn't really a run but three is. I would have been on board with Zinter.
86 SF G Dominick Puni G "Puni" but he weighs 313 pounds, curious
87 DAL LB Marist Liafu Notre Dame A player at a Catholic school having the name of another Catholic school is mildly interesting
88 GB RB Marshawn Lloyd USC Someone I only saw because I was watching Caleb's tape. I'm not sure if he's awesome or just one of those college kings who won't translate. Also they just signed Jacobs so this seems unnecessary this early
89 TB S Tykee Smith Georgia This guy's name is gonna get misspelled a lot.
90 ARI CB Elijah Jones Boston College I am running out of wit please give me some material
91 GB LB Ty'Ron Hopper LB another LB, hope he sucks
92 TB WR Jalen McMillan Washington All three Washington WRs in the top 100! And Penix before all of them lmao
93 BAL EDGE Adisa Isaac Penn State I like this pick a lot, particularly for Baltimore. He's a lot like Chop but not quite as crazy athletically.
94 PHI EDGE Jalyx Hunt Houston Christian Cool name, don't know anything about him.
95 BUF DT DeWayne Carter Duke DeWayne McBride has ruined all DeWaynes for me
96 JAX CB Jarrian Jones Florida State Man, FSU has a ton of guys going today.
97 CIN DT McKinnley Jackson Texas A&M 326 pounds, easy nickname for this guy.
98 PIT LB Payton Wilson NC State This is the pick the Steelers got for Pickett.
99 LAR S Kamren Kinchens Miami Popular college player, but it's surprising to see all these safeties go before Jaden Hicks.
100 WAS WR Luke McCaffrey Rice Not convinced he's a top 100 player, but it's a good spot for him - low pressure as a rookie.

2024.04.25 23:39 ahopcalypsebeer Top 5 Prospects by position (Final)

I am by no means an expert or a professional scout but I have watched countless hours of tape on these players and enjoy talent evaluation. I have bolded the players I hope the Bears select. Critique and discuss!
QB
  1. Anthony Richardson- I keep thinking about Josh Allen when I watch film.
  2. CJ Stroud
  3. Bryce Young-I truly believe height is going to be an issue.
  4. Hendon Hooker
  5. Will Levis
RB
  1. Bijan Robinson-LT comps are legit. Smooth and can do it all
  2. DeWayne Mcbride-I am higher than most but I think he is a throwback workhorse
  3. Jahmyr Gibbs
  4. Tyjae Spears
  5. Chase Brown
WR
  1. Zay Flowers-My favorite player to watch on offense this year. My early favorite for ROY
  2. JSN-wish he would have played more this year
  3. Jordan Addison
  4. Jalin Hyatt-Could be the next Cheetah!
  5. Quentin Johnston
TE
  1. Michael Mayer-Comp I have is a more athletic Heath Miller
  2. Dalton Kincaid
  3. Luke Musgrave
  4. Sam Laporta-under rated IMO
  5. Darnell Washington
OT
  1. Broderick Jones
  2. Darnell Wright
  3. Cody Mauch-Developmental at OT but I think he will be the best in this class eventually
  4. Paris Johnson
  5. Matthew Bergeron
G
  1. Peter Skoronski-Arm length actually matters, and he has T-Rex arms. Which is why he is a guard
  2. O'Cyrus Torrence-Just massive and powerful
  3. Steve Avila-Love his tape
  4. Andrew Vorhees
  5. Mclendon Curtis-Wish he would have played against better competition
C-This class is DEEP
  1. Joe Tippman-I have him pretty even with JMS

  4. Ricky Stromberg
  5. Juice Scruggs
Edge
  1. Will Anderson-No surprises, he will be very good
  2. Tyree Wilson-
  3. Lukas Van Ness-This is due to his incredible potential. He may be the best player in this draft...eventually
  4. Tuli Tuipulotu-Not sure why most draftniks have him rated so low. Great tape and moves well for his size
  5. Keion White-Can play inside and out
DT
  1. Jalen Carter-hopefully the kid is not a headcase because he has unlimited skills and potential
  2. Calijah Kancey-Zay was my favorite on O. Kancey was my favorite defender. John Randle jr
  3. Bryan Bresee-has a great story and I am rooting for him
  4. Mazi Smith
  5. Siaka Ika-Classic NT, hard to move off the ball
LB-this is where I will probably get the most criticism
  1. Jack Campbell-best LB in football last year and tested better than most expected. Not as good as Kuechly but not as far from it either
  2. Ivan Pace jr-Did not play much coverage last year but man this guy flys around. Can rush the passer a bit as well
  3. Daiyan Henley
  4. Dorian Williams-Love his toughness. Was watching Tulane for Tyjae and kept seeing him fly around the ball
  5. Trenton Simpson-Not a huge fan but that athleticism though...
CB
  1. Christian Gonzalez
  2. Devon Witherspoon
  3. Emanuel Forbes-I know he is skinny but he is the best on the ball play maker in the draft.
  4. Joey Porter jr
  5. Julius Brents
S
  1. Brian Branch
  2. Ji'Ayir Brown
  3. Antonio Johnson
  4. Jammie Robinson
  5. Kaveon Merriweather-I am way higher on him that most

How was decided the border between Virginia and West Virginia?
I know that there was a convention to secede during the Civil War, but why did the border follow that line, with a strange panhandle, where the counties of Morgan, Martinsburg and Jefferson are in WV, while Frederick or Clarke are in VA? Why did they not make a more rational border then or after the Civil War?

Over the last six-and-a-half weeks, I’ve analyzed the skill-sets of the top ten draft prospects at each position in detail. Now it’s time to put it all together and present my personal big board – numbers one through 100, plus the next 30 names. The way to look at this is thinking of me as a scout for the generic 33rd NFL team, without taking needs and preferences for the franchise into account.
In retrospect, we already knew wide receiver would be insanely deep, illustrated by 17 guys making the cut, but the counterpart group of the cornerback doesn’t finish too far behind with 13 names on here. Meanwhile, running backs and tight-ends are the least-represented groups, with only five guys each. The quarterbacks have driven the conversation throughout the pre-draft process, but you’ll see here shortly that I’m not as high on the group past the top two names as the general consensus.
Keep in mind, I noted injury or off-field concerns with a star (*) and depending on how well I could actually judge how they should impact rankings, I took them into account. The one prospect I excluded here was Texas interior D-lineman T’Vondre Sweat, who we aren’t sure about exactly what the arrest for DWI means for his draft stock.
You can read extensive scouting reports on basically all of the prospects mentioned here, and his is how the board stacks up for me:

2024.04.22 13:16 LionKing99 49ers Draft Prospects

Hey all. I've started doing some research on the draft so I can enjoy draft weekend by actually knowing who some players are. This "research" involves watching highlights, listening to draft expert podcasts and reading NFL_Draft.
Here are some prospects who I think would be a good fit and I'd like the 49ers to target. Comment below other prospects you think would be a good fit and how I'm wrong.

Round 1:

Offensive Line- Ideally, one of the top OT's not named Mims or Guyton will fall to 31. I don't like either of these prospects due to their 'potential', injury history and inconsistency. The 49ers should be drafting an instant starter on the OL if they select one in the first round- not a project. The most likely OT option that will be available is Jordan Morgan, who seems solid, nothing special. If they do pick OL at 31, they're likely looking at more value in IOL rather than OT, such as Graham Barton, Jackson-Powers Johnson or Zach Fraizer. All three of those options should be an upgrade to the interior with C/G versatility.
Defensive Tackle- The only player I like here is Johnny Newton as I believe Murphy will be gone earlier. I get it, people would be fuming going DL again in the first. However, if you haven't seen his tape, have a watch. He's undersized but he penetrates constantly and his talent is undeniable. His player comp is Javon Hargrave and would be great to strengthen the interior.
Cornerback- Most mocks have the top CBs going before 31. If any of them fell, the 49ers could get value. Nate Wiggins and Cooper DeJean seem less likely to be available here than Kool-Aid McKinstry and Ennis Rakestraw. All four seem like impact players who would be instant starters.
Wide Receiver: I wouldn't love picking a WR in the first. I think the only realistic WR to be selected here is Ladd McConkey.

Early- Mid Rounds:

Wide Receiver:
Malachi Corley- YAC God. (Early 2nd)
Keon Coleman- Gun at contested catches and has really good YAC ability for a big WR. Seems to struggle separating at times but is intriguing. (Early 2nd)
Ricky Pearsall- Slot receiver who can make crazy catches. (2nd)
Offensive Line:
OG- Cooper Beebe: Looks like Quenton Nelson in the run game and solid in pass pro. Might be slightly slow when pulling for what the team wants. (Early 2nd)
OT- Roger Rosengarten: Heavy 49er links being trained by Joe Staley and coached by Ed McCaffrey in HS. Athletic and reminds me of Mike McGlinchey. I would be disappointed if 49ers select him in round 1 but would be fine with him later on. (2nd)
OG/C- Mason McCormick: Athletic small school OG who seems to be a favourite in the middle rounds. (3rd-5th)
Defensive Line:
Edge- Jonah Ellis: Bendy edge prospect with a good motor. (3rd- 4th)
Defensive Tackle- DeWayne Carter: Team captain with a pass rush (3rd- 5th)
Defensive backs:
CB- Mike Sainristil: instant starting NCB. High character team captain who loves getting turnovers and hitting. Would be an awesome pick late second, but it's more likely he'll go early second. I wouldn't be mad if he was the pick at 31. (Early second)
S- Kitan Oladapo: Well-rounded safety with good size and hitting ability. Player comp is Jaquiski Tartt. (4th)

Late Rounds:

CB- Dwight McGlothern: 6'2 zone corner who can find the ball. I have no idea why he is being predicted to go so late. (5th- 6th)
WR- Jamari Thrash: Check this guy's highlights out and think what Kyle could do scheming him open. He is electric! Doesn't seem like much of a run blocker, but has great YAC, play speed and I think would be excellent value late in the draft. Another player I don't see getting much buzz at all which makes no sense to me.
Hopefully you got something out of this post and it'd be great to read your thoughts. Go Niners.

Posting a random Steeler every day until kickoff or I forget - Day 50: Wayne Gandy
OT Wayne Gandy (1999-2002)
Wayne Gandy was selected by the Los Angeles Rams with the 15th overall pick in the 1994 NFL Draft out of Auburn University, where he had been a part of the undefeated 1993 Auburn Tigers and was recognized as a Consensus First-Team All-American.
After spending four five seasons with the Rams, Gandy spent four with Pittsburgh, starting in 63/63 games. After leaving the Steelers, he signed a six-year deal in March 2003 with the New Orleans Saints, but was traded to the Atlanta Falcons in April 2006 for safety Bryan Scott and a draft pick.
Gandy suffered an ACL tear during the 2007 season and was released in February 2008 before being re-signed in October to replaced injured OT Sam Baker. Gandy was not resigned during the 2009 offseason and retired from playing.
After retiring, Gandy got into broadcasting, starting his own syndication company that broadcasts from Atlanta. He also hosted a weekly TV show for CBS Atlanta Sports and worked as a color analyst for ESPN TV.

2024.04.20 21:00 EffervescentEngineer A Hopeful Mock Draft for the Chargers (with breakdowns)

Round 1, Pick 8 - Rome Odunze, WR Washington Ladies and gentlemen, the blue-chip receiver you've all been asking for. (In this mock, we trade back with MIN for 11+23+future 1st and then give 11+future first to ATL to jump back up to 8.) Perhaps not quite as exciting as MHJ or Nabers, but I really think this is the best value we could get, since Odunze is not that far behind them and some sources even have him ahead of Nabers. He's a monster all-around X receiver to take Keenan's place on the field, a hard worker in practice who will fit right into Harbaugh's vision (as we saw with him running repeated drills at the combine), and by all accounts a really awesome guy off the field who would be an outstanding representative of the Chargers. (Oh, and the rivalry with Herbert's alma mater really won't matter - Nico Collins is doing just fine catching from CJ Stroud on the Texans.)
Round 1, Pick 23 - Jer'Zhan "Johnny" Newton, DT Illinois A first-rounder for sure (and DT1 according to some), Newton can step up at a position of serious need for the Chargers - especially Jim "build from the trenches" Harbaugh's Chargers. Newton was an AP All-American, Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year, and All-Big Ten First Team Member (twice!) While his size and timing consistency represent potential issues, his range, motor and play strength are exceptional and his overall potential is not in doubt.
Round 2, Pick 37 - Zach Frazier, C West Virginia Even with the Bozeman deal, I just couldn't leave Frazier out of this hopeful mock. We will need a solution at center for more than just this coming year, and Frazier is exactly the physically and mentally tough type of player, caring about winning well over individual stats, that Harbaugh loves. The dude's a former champion wrestler whose moves translate well to blocking, and an absolute DAWG who hopped off the field on a broken leg once because WVU didn't have any timeouts left. If that's not a Charger, I don't know who is.
Round 3, Pick 69 - Mike Sainristil, CB Michigan Here is a man who proves Master Yoda right every day. The only reason Mikey will slip this far at all is concern about his size or lack thereof - he has a knack for the ball and plays his heart out every single time, making plays that nobody thought possible. His biggest asset, however, is his ability to lead a Harbaugh/Minter team on the field and in the locker room. Many have noted how he was the Michigan defense's "field general," sniffing out offensive plans and guiding players accordingly - which he can do because he leads by example and commands such respect. He already knows Minter's defense on the field and will be a good complement to Justin Herbert as Harbaugh's lieutenant among the players.
Round 4, Pick 105 - DeWayne Carter, DT Duke Another solid addition on the defensive side of the trenches. Haven't heard much about him, but what I have heard is positive, especially for a 4th rounder.
Round 4, Pick 110 - Braelon Allen, RB Wisconsin Even with Edwards and Dobbins, another RB never hurts, especially in the Harbaugh/Roman run-heavy scheme. Everybody here seems to like Braelon Allen's explosiveness to complement Gus Edwards' power.
Round 5, Pick 140 - Michael Barrett, LB Michigan According to the PFF Big Board, Barrett really is the best LB who would likely still be available at this position. We might be okay with Perryman and Henley starting, but both of them panning out is a bit of a gamble and we need a solid depth piece.
Round 6, Pick 181 - Jaylen Harrell, EDGE Michigan Another Michigan Man...and another PFF BPLSAAP (Best Player Likely Still Available At Position). Bosa and Mack are solid right now, but they're not going to be around forever, and it's always good to have depth. We do also need depth at safety, but with Rod Moore and Makari Paige both set to follow their former teammates into the league next year, we will have two Harbaugh/Minter guys to pick from (especially since Moore will probably slip due to his injury).
Round 7, Pick 225 - Trente Jones, OT Michigan I know, I know, yet another (Los Angeles) Wolverine. And he doesn't have a very high projection thus far. But after being benched in favor of Karsen Barnhart most of the year, Jones stepped up in a MASSIVE way after Zinter went down (Barnhart moving into Zinter's guard spot) - even being named one of the top 10 CFP players after the Rose Bowl where he handled Alabama's elite edge rushers like, well, a champion. With Pipkins coming into the last year of his current contract, we can sit Jones for a bit and let him compete for the starting spot. And if it doesn't work out? There's always the early rounds next year.
Round 7, Pick 253 - Jack Westover, TE Washington Yes, we just signed both Dissly and Hurst...but the Harbaugh/Roman scheme loves TEs, and injuries could well limit Hurst's playing time. While definitely a later-round pick, Westover seems to make the most of the athletic ability he does have, as seen in him chasing an interception all the way back to his own end zone in the national championship game. He also turned out as a quality pass catcher in the Sugar Bowl.

2024.04.15 06:09 lx3dEMONxl 31 Reasons I Will Not Be Returning for NHL 25

  1. All Modes: Slow menus. It's been this way for as long as I've played (since NHL 09), and NHL 24 somehow managed to make it worse. This is something I would expect from a indie game or new developer, not a billion dollar company with exclusive sports licenses.
  2. HUT: Lackluster content and no attention to detail (repeat MSPs for different events eg Chris Chellios, Joe Sakic, Wayne Gretzky, etc as well as PUI cards getting MSPs over and over.
  3. HUT: The DDA is an awful experience. The automatic faceoff losses despite grip/counters, arcade hitting, speed bursts, precision pokes, 500 shot power just makes the game stupid and not fun.
  4. All Modes: Frequent glass breaks. The games already take too long, this should only happen maybe once every 25 games or more.
  5. HUT: Computer penalties. Always when I am about to make a good play. Feels like a way for EA to cover up bad AI to keep scores low.
  6. HUT: The extreme difficulty getting certain objectives to register (one-timer goals, wrist shots, goals in specific spots on the net, stick lifts, sweep checks, lacrosse goals in 3s arena where there is no room behind the net).
  7. HUT (may happen in other modes): Game crashing when I pause the game in Squad Battles (PS5). Happens about 1 out of 50 times, but wipes objective progress and has to be redone. Problem compounded by #6.
  8. Online Modes: Own goals being too frequent in online matches.
  9. Sluggish pause menu while in-game. Why does it take so long for the menus to become usable after pausing?
  10. Lacrosse goals being too easy.
  11. HUT: Goalies being too good in lower difficulties.
  12. HUT: EA luring me into a website for a few days to vote on Community Team of the Season cards that I couldn't build from scratch.
  13. WoC: Slow matchmaking and game time. 30+ minutes to find and play a single game.
  14. WoC: The UI is horrific (slow, bad organization, takes too long for it to load after finishing a match).
  15. HUT: No acknowledgement or design to accommodate theme teams. Almost every fan does it in the game, but EA doesn't do enough content or make nearly cards for these people or give incentives to do it.
  16. HUT: Overpriced packs. $80-85 dollars for a pack? We can buy a better game that doesn't rip us off for $80. $35 dollar packs?
  17. HUT: Uninteresting cookie-cutter game modes. Why no offline mode to take your team to the big dance? Squad Battles is an absolute DDA slog. I won't put myself through that again.
  18. HUT: Being forced to play goalie in OT. There is no position in the game I hate more than goalie.
  19. HUT: Trade Deadline event was awful. Trading cards for packs to get more random cards to trade in for packs with more random cards.
  20. HUT: Goalies pretty much not mattering much. A lot of people just sticking tall goalies in their nets.
  21. HUT: One-timers being effectively removed from the game. AI not fighting to get open. Players getting One Tee XF but the computer players purposefully not setting up for one-timers making that ability a waste of points. Imagine an NBA game that made dunking so difficult to do that you barely do it? That is what having a hockey game with no one-timers is like.
  22. HUT: AI teammates doing stupid things on rushes that don't make any sense (like skating toward the puck carrier instead of spreading out and getting open for a easy back door play. See #21).
  23. HUT: AI teammates ignoring puck right in front of them. Going for changes when a puck is right in front of them.
  24. HUT: AI not changing when I manually tell them too. One guy on my line will be completely gassed and game will not switch my lines automatically during play stoppage, forcing me to manually do it after faceoff.
25: HUT: AI opponents ragging the puck when you apply the forecheck on them.
  1. HUT: Random times during the game where I cannot change my forward lines (not icing). It will let me change my defense pairs, but not forwards. Thought it was a controller issue but it happens on multiple controllers.
  2. HUT: AHL Showcase objective with garbage rewards.
  3. HUT: Women objectives with garbage rewards.
  4. HUT: AI teammates have only one behavior when you are pinned along the boards, and that is to coming flying into the scrum full speed. If you try to kick it out, because they are coming full steam toward the play, they just push the puck right back into the scrum. Why do they not just park themselves north or south of the pinned player for a kick every once in a while?
  5. All Modes: Players getting stuck on each other. Players should take a brief speed penalty when making contact with another player, but in now way should the player get stuck where they cannot move and just skate in place. Players should glance off each other, not stick like glue.
  6. HUT: AI teammates getting in your way. Can't tell you how many times I am trying to enter the zone and one of my players skates in from the flank and just robs me of an entry, and then the problem from #30 brings you to a dead stop and you can’t proceed without backing out and resetting, and possibly triggering the "ragging penalty."
