Understanding Continuous Asphalt Mixing Plants
When investing in an asphalt mix plant, it's crucial to understand the distinctions between the various types available on the market, such as continuous asphalt mixing plants and batch type hot mix plants. Each has its unique advantages and is suited for different applications. This article aims to shed light on some interesting facts about continuous asphalt mixing plants, helping you make an informed decision for your projects.

Drum Mix Continuous Asphalt Plant

Continuous Vs. Batch Type Asphalt Mixing Plants

Continuous Asphalt Mixing Plant Overview

A continuous asphalt mixing plant operates without interruption, unlike its batch type counterpart, which produces hot mix asphalt in batches. The production process in a continuous plant involves mixing materials directly in the dryer drum, serving dual purposes of drying and mixing. This streamlined design, while simplifying construction and operation, introduces certain limitations, particularly in terms of mix flexibility and quality consistency.

Batch Type Asphalt Mixing Plant Characteristics

In contrast, batch type asphalt mixing plants offer more complexity in their design, accommodating a broader range of mixing scenarios and allowing for finer control over the final product's quality. This added flexibility and control come at the cost of higher operational expenses and maintenance requirements due to the more intricate machinery involved.

Operational and Maintenance Considerations

Cost Efficiency and Operation

Continuous asphalt mixing plants generally boast lower operational costs compared to batch type plants. This cost-efficiency stems from their simpler design. However, this simplicity necessitates stringent quality control measures for incoming aggregates since there's no screening after they enter the dryer drum.

Maintenance and Investment

The maintenance demands for continuous plants are typically lower than those for batch plants, thanks to the less complex machinery. Furthermore, the initial investment for a continuous plant tends to be lower, but it's essential to consider the trade-offs in flexibility, accuracy, and potential production rates. Batch plants, although more expensive, provide greater versatility and precision in producing varied hot mix types.

Intermittent Asphalt Plant

Choosing the Right Plant for Your Needs

Deciding between a continuous and a batch type asphalt plant depends largely on your specific project requirements. If your operations demand a consistent type of mix in large quantities, a continuous plant might be the more economical choice. However, for projects requiring a variety of mixes with precise quality controls, a batch plant could prove more beneficial.
When selecting an asphalt mixing plant, consider not only the type but also the manufacturer's reputation, customer reviews, and the overall quality and longevity of the plant. These factors will ensure you receive the best value and performance from your investment.
In conclusion, both continuous and batch type asphalt mixing plants offer distinct advantages depending on the application. By understanding these differences and considering your project’s specific needs, you can choose the most suitable plant type, optimizing your operation's efficiency and output quality. Based on the above, if you still have questions about continuous asphalt plants and intermittent asphalt plants, then I suggest you check out AIMIX’s website for more useful information.

2024.05.14 03:50 powerchoice What’s it like working for the US government?

I work in the private sector as an IT business analyst. Been with the same company for over 10 years. Job is good with great benefits. I make over 6-figures, and get a 6% raise plus an 8% bonus every year as long as my performance reviews are up to par.
I’m always looking for something “better” and have been looking through USAJobs. But as the saying goes “the grass is always greener on the other side”, until you get there and realize it’s not what you really want.
Am I crazy for wanting to switch to the public sector? Honestly, what is it like being a government employee? What are the advantages?

2024.05.14 03:50 albert1165 Let’s crunch the numbers on VF3

Vuong Pham is doing a blitz of VF3 marketing, saturating the web. This is no secret.
His seeders put out a rumor of 50-60K reservation. This is a rumor, not from Vinfast, and I doubt the number. More liky in the 20K range, which is still double my initial estimation of 10K. Well, marketing and censorship in Vietnam always have effect (short term).
1/ We will have to wait until Q4 2024 to see the actual delivery. In the past, many Vin employees (and non employees) were forced to make fake reservation.
2/ The targeted customers are precisely what I said: the majority, from my quick survey, are wealthy people who want to try an EV. who are the targeted customers of VF3 in Vietnam? : VinFastComm (reddit.com) They already have an ICE. They want to try a cheap EV, for them 250M VND is a small amount that can be thrown out of the way without thinking. They make a reservation even without test driving ones.
3/ If Vinfans think that by touting the reservation numbers, people will rush to buy more, they are definitely delusional. It is a car, not gold. They only decrease value over time. And they can be manufactured at will. Vinfast cars price only come down over time, as any other cars.
4/ Vinfast cars are buggy. Look at the VF8. More buggy VF3 on the road will be a disaster down the road.
5/ Vuong Pham censor every bad news about Vinfast, censor how buggy the cars are. So many people in Vietnam don't know how buggy Vinfast cars are. Clueless new people looking at the price thinking it is cheap and buy. They will soon have a taste of buggy VF3 in Q4.
6/ Even if VF3 reservation is 60K, and assume that all the reservation converted to sale, and assume that each VF3 has a profit of 20M VND (10%), that amount to just 1200M VND = $50M. Tiny amount compared to $9.3B debt. $50M only enough for one week of Vinfast’s operation expense. Thus, the 60K “sale” is nothing financially and won’t change Vinfast’s financial pictures. Even 100K VF3 won’t change a thing.
Vinfans can have all the jubilation for a short while until the reality set in.
Time will tell.

2024.05.14 03:33 Worldly-Train6643 Boyfriend of 8 years hasn’t proposed

Boyfriend since HS hasn’t proposed
Like the title says… I 24F and boyfriend 25M have been together since we were 16. Broke up for a year during COVID and got back together in 2021. 8 years total.
In 2021, he moved into my small studio apartment. This was fine, as you do what you can for the people you love. After my lease was up, we moved into a 2 bedroom apartment together and have lived together ever since.
We have a really nice, healthy relationship. No fighting, no drama, no toxicity.
However, he doesn’t really do the things that a boyfriend would do, and sometimes I feel like a roommate lol.
Since living together, we don’t go on dates, unless initiated by me, he doesn’t get me flowers, or surprise me with things. I’ve talked to him about it, and he says he understands, but nothing changes. Essentially, it’s feels like there is no initiation on his end to build intimacy between the two of us.
Sometimes, I feel bad for asking for these things since we have a good overall relationship, but every woman wants to feel loved, heard, desired and thought of when they’re not around.
For the past year, I have been probing the idea of marriage and where he falls on the idea. Originally, he wasn’t thinking about marriage and it was the last thing on his mind, (I assume due to his childhood/family life) but I have brought it up enough to where he knows this something I expect to move toward in our relationship. We have had plenty of conversations about it, and it’s is very clear this is a non-negotiable for me.
The last time we spoke about it he said, 2 years is his time frame. While I am not one to force anyone to want to marry me, this seems like an unreasonable amount of time considering how long we have been together as adults. I rebuttled with 1year, when our lease is up.
I feel like a placeholder. It just isn’t something that seems to be a priority to him, and if he won’t deliver on little things like dates or flowers, how can I expect more of a gesture from him like proposing?
He says that he wants to have enough money to give me the life I deserve, while this is a sweet thought, how long will that be ? 2, 3, 4 years? While financial stability is everyone’s goal, does love and commitment not super-cede this? We have been regular, full-time hourly employees for the entirety of living together, so I understand the strain of wanting/needing more money, but I am not asking for a super expensive ring or a super lavish wedding just an engagement with some kind of commitment.
I feel selfish for saying that I am not keen to wait any longer for him to fully commit to me, and I really don’t believe in ultimatums. However, at this point, I am unsure if I am being unfair and impatient.
To add to it, I became pregnant last month, and decided against keeping it. I would like to be married first and have myself in order before bringing a child in this world. After the MA process, I feel less sad about the pregnancy and more so have been reconsidering the status/pace of our relationship.
Any ideas on why he hasn’t proposed? Am I unreasonable and selfish? Am I just a placeholder?
TL;DR - boyfriend since high school, living together (as adults for 3 years) hasn’t proposed, and doesn’t do much to keep the intimacy of our relationship (dates, flowers, surprises, etc) he says 2 years before he will propose, but how long do I wait for an engagement before calling it quits?

Just picked this up today from the post office, but I went through a small decant this past week.
⚠️ TRIGGER WARNING ⚠️ I use the word "soapy" and "powdery" a lot here.
So this is what I would call more of a "blue collar" soapy fragrance because it isn't as fancy as a lot of others I've tried.
My holy grail soapy fragrance, Creeds Pure White Cologne, is way too upscale smelling and expensive to wear in my line of work (police officer) or as a daily fragrance in my opinion. I'll reserve that for spring, special occasions.
Prada Amber Pour Homme and L'Homme smell like luxury soaps. Theirs a sweet, powdery nature to them that isn't in this one.
Prada Infusion d'Iris Cedre and a fragrance like Comme Des Garcon Marieselle are very dry, powdery soapy fragrances with very little sweetness. They smell upscale, but kinda choke me out a little. So they are probably more decant worthy than bottle worthy.
Then theirs the greener, earthier "soapy" fragrances like Creeds Original Vetiver, Mugler Cologne, Tom Ford Grey Vetiver or maybe Green Irish Tweed.
But this one isn't green, isn't very sweet and while it doesn't smell cheap, it doesn't smell overly expensive or fancy.
Think more "Lever 2000" bar soap or "powdered laundry detergent" with this one. Powdered detergent is what the perfumer was going for actually. The inspiration for this fragrance was the workers using a powdered soap to wash their clothes in a canal in Milano, Italy. So again, blue collar, laundry powder is the vibe.
It does open with some beautiful bright citruses, but dries down to a powdery, somewhat watery, detergent vibe. It may not be for everyone, but I intend to wear it as an everyday fragrance for work because I don't want to smell like "Cologne guy" at work everyday, just fresh, clean, well groomed and soapy most days.
The longevity seems to be around 5 hours, with arms length projection for an hour or so. For the remaining 4 hours or so you get a nice skin scent. It isn't a beast by any means, it's a very personal scent, so you may need to over apply initially or reapply throughout the day (if you feel the need). It's relatively inexpensive at only $140 for a 100ml. I've also seen it on sale for as low as $90, so it's more ideal as a daily wear vs. some other niche fragrances, more in line with designer prices.
Presentation is pretty nice too (as shown). Metal, magnetic caps are always a plus. The atomizer is also similar to Dior or Roja Parfums (controllable spray).
So theirs my review guys, maybe grab a sample, see what you think of this one.
Have a good one 👍🏼

Does your company do it? I just don't understand how that helps with employee satisfaction or retention. An over-the-top performance review, layoff and promo process when you don't pay a FAANG salary seems like it will not help retain good employees which is needed at smaller companies or lesser known brands. Curious how others feel about it.

If this is the wrong sub, I apologize. Not sure where to post this type of stuff.
The statute of limitations for my slip and fall personal injury incident is approaching on the 22nd of this month. We are at the end of the process trying to reach an agreement which is good, but we're cutting short on time. My Attorney only got contact from the insurance adjuster back in February and they drug the process on for quite some time because they apparently got the demand letter but not my medical records. From there, they needed 60 days to investigate to see what they could find to deny liability, which was nothing.
However, my case is a very tricky one and my Attorney said that from the beginning, yet, he still decided to take my case. It was a slip and fall in a drinking establishment where I slipped and fell into a drink on the floor that was not cleaned up resulting in me breaking my wrist and getting plates and screws. I wasn't aware that I broke it until the next morning as at the time of the incident, it felt like a sprain.
The first offer we received was last week on the 8th which was $44K, the cost of only my medical bills before insurance. When my Attorney presented the offer, he kept saying how pleased he was with that offer considering the difficulty of my case. My argument was while the offer is great, it's the first low ball offer they're giving and his initial demand was $150K. He immediately goes into how that's an inflated number for him to be able to negotiate and that I'll never see that number (which is BS in my eyes because why ask me if $150K is a good number to shoot for in the demand)? I said, well.. okay... hearing both sides, how about halfway at $75K? He said he doubts I'll see double my medical bills and that I need to think about how this would look in court in front of a judge and 6 jurors if we had to file a lawsuit. Their argument is they have no surveillance footage, no employee recalls the incident, and that I didn't report it when it happened. He then said he'd go back and negotiate by coming down from the $150K by like $40K to see what they'd offer.
Am I wrong for turning down the $44K offer? He said that once all fees and their winning is taken out (35% + whatever other fees due to being a contingency case), I'd have $22K in my pocket. Sure, that's $22K extra I never had but I always read to not settle for the first offer. Now, I'm afraid since they know my deadline is in 2 weeks that they will drag their feet and continue to lowball backing me into the corner of either accepting their offer or filing a lawsuit.
What are your thoughts and weigh in here?

2024.05.14 03:11 NetflixFoodChill My INFJ ex bf still talks to me, is he breadcrumbing me?

It’s been a month since my INFJ ex bf (29M) broke up with me (ENFP, 29F). He started a new job 2 months ago and seemed to be struggling there at that time. I too was adding some emotional baggage to him since I kept telling him about my concerns etc last month. We had a misunderstanding a week before the breakup, he told me before that that I’m not even checking on him (not even texting him good night or goodmorning unless he initiates it). It has been only one month since we’ve been in LDR coz I have to go home for my study review, but we agreed for me to come back to the city. I couldn’t go back so I felt that he got so upset with me about it since he’d been looking forward to it. Then a week after that, he sent me a long message about breakup. Saying he had so many issues in our relationship but couldn’t muster the courage to tell me since I may get upset with him. For now, he just wants to give time for himself.
We lived together for more than 2 years but have been together for more than 3 years.
A few days after the break up, I still tried to plead him for us to work it out. But he told me he needs space and time to think, and to work on himself, and he said that even if we get back together since it’s ldr for now, the main issues will still not be resolved and things might just get worse.
But 2-3 weeks post break-up, when I told him I already respect and accept his decision, he got so sad. We started talking again, although not everyday.. just for a few days each week, because I was initially initiating the conversations.
3.5 weeks since the breakup, the mental and emotional anguish hit me and I decided not to contact him anymore.
He then reached out, asked about my well-being, my family, my studies..and how I feel.
We broke up amicably one month ago, and in 2-3 weeks time, he told me directly (one time only) and indirectly (through other cues like reminiscing and talking about my quirks, our past etc.) that he misses me.
I told him I am doing better now and asked him how he was too. He updated me about his life but he keeps on turning the conversation about me. He undeniably gives me attention and I felt that he still prioritizes me whenever we talk. (I usually end our conversation since I am also not 100% healed yet from the breakup and I don’t want to harbor any false hope).
He talked to me as if giving all his attention to me, sometimes flirting too, and told me I hope you don’t keep unsending your messages. So I can read them later if I can’t read them right away. He also even told me he hopes that I will greet him on his bday. He also still calls my parents “mama and papa” even though we’ve broken up already. I am so confused since he has not mentioned about the breakup anymore since 2 weeks ago and seems to avoid that topic. But he has not told me he wants to get back together too. He also thanked me when I told him I already agree for us to meet up at a later time when I’m already settled.
Is he breadcrumbing me or is he having second thoughts about the breakup? Why is he doing these?

2024.05.14 03:00 h_m_107 Help on constraint

I'm having this issue, not sure if I understand the constraint correctly,
I got this schema
``` -- Create table with age check
CREATE TABLE employees (
age INT CHECK (age <= 26),
name TEXT UNIQUE
);
``` and this query:
```
-- Insert initial data
INSERT INTO employees VALUES (1, 'Name1');
INSERT INTO employees VALUES (24, 'Name2');
-- Insert new data with age incremented and name concatenated
INSERT INTO employees (age, name)
SELECT age + 20, CONCAT(' ', name) FROM employees
ON CONFLICT (age)
DO UPDATE SET age = EXCLUDED.age - 19;
-- Select all rows from the employees table
SELECT * FROM employees;
```
But i get this error, although the constraint I added to check if age less than 26.
Query Error: error: there is no unique or exclusion constraint matching the ON CONFLICT specification

2024.05.14 03:00 thebeanshadow Current list of Australian TRT Clinics + Where to get bloodwork + Things to consider before starting + Types of TRT

This was created as a place to feel welcome, and to discuss and talk about all things TRT in Australia.
We have an influx of clinics opening up here, with an influx of new people to TRT, and it's only growing
(did you know GP prescribed testosterone has risen over 500% in the last 10yrs worldwide...)
Below is a breakdown of TRT, clinics and bloodwork.
TYPES OF TRT
There are a few methods of TRT in Australia and the world.
Injectable testosterone -- this is the standard type of TRT method with the most amount of research and usage to date. Typically injected Intra-Muscularly, but with more data showing that SubQ injections are just as effective and could potentially have lower side effects due to the slower release
Testosterone Cream & Gel -- Topical ointments can be great due to not having to inject weekly, daily etc, just apply and carry on, but, with topicals, especially Gel - the risk of transfer to other people is very high, you also don't know how much is actually getting absorbed into your skin, and generally you aren't allowed to swim for 6hrs post application
Enclomiphene & Clomid -- This tablet form of TRT has some popularity as it doesn't shut down your natural production and helps to raise it instead, it is also one step even easier than topicals but the overall effectiveness and long term use aren't fully understood and anecdotally seem to be less effective over time and may stop working.
HCG (Human Chorionic Gonadotropin) - another injectable form of TRT but instead of replacing the bodies natural production with an exogenous source, HCG will instead stimulate LH production, almost "forcing" the body to produce naturally -- HCG is often used alongside injectable testosterone to maintain testicular function and natural production
** Some people have success with all forms of TRT, but anecdotally, injectable TRT is still the king of testosterone.
CLINICS
If you are looking for a reputable clinic, below are some clinics that are recommended by Aussies;
PHC - Performance Health Clinic * No yearly or ongoing fees, a pay as you go service, with a more hands off approach + bloodwork every 3mths + cost of medication
EMC - Enhanced Mens Clinic *$1000 yearly fee + bloodwork every 3mths + cost of medication
Primal Zone *$350 initial consult, $100 bloodwork review + cost of medication
The Functional Doctors - over 40s clinic * Bloodwork every 3mths ($300 panel must be done) + $300 consults every 3mths + cost of medication
XY Theraputics - Over 40s clinic * Byo bloodwork or $210 in-house panel. Start up; $299=consult and blood tests $150=consult plus BYO bloodwork - ongoing costs $92 consult and review
TRT Australia * Yearly $860, Quarterly $240, Semi-Annualy $480 - Includes medication, bloodwork review (BYO blood), check-ins
PRIVATE BLOODWORK If you have a good GP that will do bloodwork, that can be a lifesaver, but if not, these companies are trusted and can usually have results within 24hrs.
iMedical * Recommended tests to get before starting your journey are Sports BB2 $172, BB3 $186, BB4 $248
RoidSafe * A smaller set of testing compared to iMedical, but for $50, you can get a snapshot of your bloodwork. This is perfect for patients who know how to read bloodwork and just want to monitor.
Things recommended to check before starting TRT or the journey to TRT;
Semen analysis - It's important to check your sperm health and count before starting as testosterone, sex hormones and your sperm all work closely together - and if you want to have children in the future; you absolutely need a baseline
Sleep study - A very large portion of men have sleep apnea that is directly linked to low testosterone levels, it's important to rule this out as it could be a large contributing factor to how you feel and what your levels show
Full blood panel - You're not just checking testosterone levels, you're checking everything, Vitamin D, Thyroid, Testosterone, Prostate. You need a full panel to be able to tell a full story. And even then, your lifestyle can tell an even bigger part of the story to what's on the paper in front of you.
It's important to remember that TRT can be life changing for a lot of men, but changing your life even the smallest bit can help just as much, as low T symptoms can be caused by a plethora of other illnesses or issues and you need to rule out everything you can;
TRT is generally a "for life" dependant medication; meaning if you have low T and you want normal testosterone levels, you will need to be on TRT for life. You can come off at any time, but you will go back to the original baseline levels you had before starting, and in some cases, go back lower than baseline.

2024.05.14 02:44 Remote_Year3642 Help! Well water and swimming pool chemicals

Help! Well water and swimming pool chemicals
So we manage (as volunteers) a 160,000 gallon residential pool. We have a well that we fill with. It’s basically an endless supply of water as I can drain and fill 3 times in less than two weeks.
Our problem is we have a few leaks (we are still actively locating through a third party company) and lose about 2” of water a night. I’m not looking for information on the leaks right now but mainly the following problem.
I have everything perfectly balanced and within the suggested limits for all chemicals, other than my cyanuric acid is extremely low and my phosphate level was a little high but just treated that last week and are in normal range below 100 PPB. Low cyanuric was intentional as a test to see if it played a part in our issue.
With that said, every time I add the well water, which is every morning right now, the water turns a deep green. Not an algae green per se but more of a “metallic” green for lack of better word. We battled this last year and somehow we just stopped having the issue after a while and I can’t remember what we did differently.
Currently, when the water turns green (starts in the deep end where the well water is being added) it takes about an hour from start of adding new water for a perfectly crystal blue pool to turn fully green.
I’ve taken multiple water samples for testing from the clear, the green, the well water itself, the backwash water etc. all of them show virtually non existent metal content. However, when I use sc 1000, the water clears up the next day. But as soon as I add well water it’s back to green. Also, if I add a lb of vitamin c, the pool turns back clear blue within 15 mins. You can watch it turn, but again, when I add water it turns back green.
I gutted the pump room this year and went from 4 DE filters to 4 glass media filters. We are also running a pulsar auto feeder with calcium hypo brickets feeding the pool. We took out our tricolor feeders and no longer use tablets.
With using the sc1000, the CL has been low due to it zapping it but not below a 2. When I was bringing the chemicals up initially I put shock in and it turned the pool green within an hour.
Does anyone have any insights? If I’ve left something out I’m happy to elaborate, we have tried so many things lately and just not sure what to do next.
The green pictures were taken before I vacuumed. I vacuumed and then put in vitamin C and took this blue pictures 25 mins after it was as green as the pictures.

2024.05.14 02:29 Live_Maass ANC Headphone Newbie. Just bought the WH-1000XM5 from Deals2Go on Amazon.

Hi SonyHeadphones!
I am a total newbie to the headphone game, especially ANC headphones. I wanted to upgrade my everyday life and I decided to look into headphones. I was initially expecting to buy SoundCore Space Q45 because everyone (YouTube) and their mothers say it’s the best bang for your buck, however, I found the XM5 on Amazon from Deals2Go for $269 because is refurbished. The reviews are very good but I was wondering if any of y’all have bought from this store. P.S: Feel free to tell me anything to look out for regarding the store or the XM5 itself, I appreciate the comments in advance!

2024.05.14 02:29 Aggravating-Fan-892 401k help, 62 yrs old, want to withdraw some money but how

First of all, I am not very knowledgable in 401k and retirement plans, so bear with me
Starting 2018, I started investing in 401k (I know, very late) and currently it is $28,000 in vested balance. It includes pre tax $10,000, roth $10,000, employee match 8,000. I quit my job in 2023 but the 401k is still with my old employer. I started my new job right after and had to wait one year to contribute in the 401k. It is now one year since employment. I was planning to rollover the funds.
I know the best option is to rollover and continue contributing with my new employer but financially, I think I will have to withdraw some money. I am going to start a new 401k with my new current employer though.
My question is since I have $10,000 in roth, would I not pay taxes if I withdraw them? I probably wont withdraw $28,000 at once but I wanted to initially take out 10,000 and little by little over time.
Would it be okay to just keep the funds as is?
I read somewhere that I can rollover to a ira account but I dont know the consequences to that.
Also, If I do decide to rollover to my current employer, can I withdraw the funds while I am working??
Any advice would be appreciated

2024.05.14 02:26 SubtleMonkey4049 Should I be patient and wait for a promotion?

I’m a Financial Analyst (27M) who is coming up on 3 years with my company. I had my annual review, which increased my TC from $82,550 ($75k base + 10% bonus) to $96,134 ($80k + 20%). This is up 34.5% from my starting TC of $71,500.
I was hoping for $85k base but didn’t even consider the possibility of an increased bonuses, at least not until promoted to an Associate. Not sure how I feel about the new TC since on one hand I rather have a higher base, but on the other hand it’s marginally better (+3k).
I find myself in a predicament with the main factors being pay and career growth. $80k base doesn’t go too far on the west coast, but I have a decent record of annual increases. I got merit increases of 7.69%, 7.14%, and now 16.36% for an average TC increase of 10.40% YOY or average Base increase 7.17% YOY. I believe these are strong and consistent increases that I am not sure I’ll find elsewhere.
I’ve done the market research and for my role / experience and I think I am paid fairly. Not good, not bad, but just fair. I mention this because I don’t think I have leverage in this regard. The good news is that I know Associates make around $120k-$150k base. However, there is not a clear path to an Associate, given how small our firm is. I have found that most Associates have been here for no less than 5yrs and that’s about the best benchmark I currently have. Assuming a promotion to Associate is around the 5yr mark, that’s a little over 2 years away, which scares me because by then I’ll be pushing 30 years old. I don’t want to be a 40yr old Excel junkie with no hope for a management role.
I’m sorry for the long read, but I feel like this is all important context for a pivotal decision. I’d only switch jobs for +$100k. But I would need +20% increases every year (small likelihood) to match what I theoretically could make if I just stayed for an Associate.
Am I being impatient? If so, do I just shut up and ride out a few more years to hopefully be promoted to an Associate? Do I get some job offers and ask my current company to match? What’s the best course of action to increase my income?
My current plan is below, but please advise otherwise.
  1. Talk with boss and see what the next 2-3yrs look like. Don’t give away my position or leverage, but find the likelihood of being promoted to an Associate.
  2. If the talk does NOT go well, ask how I can improve and do that for 3 months. Then start getting job offers and see if they’ll match.
  3. If they do NOT match, ride out for 3 more months, collect my bonus, and dip.
Less important information, but worth considering:
I really like my company. My boss and my boss’ boss are down to earth and are super accommodating with PTO, personal issues, and general work-life balance. There’s no micromanaging or company software that tracks your every move. Work life balance is pretty unbeatable, and I have a lot of free time even after taking on “additional” tasks (I used quotes because I can do much more, but they don’t necessarily have a business need for much more). We have full benefits and the company pays for our own ESPP-equivalent; it doesn’t come out of our paychecks, but there is a 5yr min hold.
I often feel like this is a great place to work when you’re NOT young. What I mean by that is building and growing your career elsewhere and then coming here when you want to settle down with a mortgage, kids, or whatever. Coming in a higher level definitely has its benefits (VP+ make min $300k) and there’s a lot of older employees that are probably going to retire here, which somewhat validates this hypothesis.
