AITA for threatening to call the police on my brother-in-law?

2024.05.15 22:35 MadDormouse AITA for threatening to call the police on my brother-in-law?

So let me try to get all of the pertinent information out within the word limit. The gist of my post is that almost halfway through the year, I (39m) have threatened to call the cops on my brother-in-law because I suspect some of my belongings may have been sold. Those belongings have been in storage since October, 2022.
In mid-2022 I was sharing a house with my sister (then pregnant with her second child) and her husband. She discovered her husband had cheated on her with at least two women. Physically with a neighbor and at least emotionally with a woman online. At the time, preggo sister moved out with baby #1 to live with our mother.
It was already the plan to sell the house, but this accelerated it. I started looking for a new place and pack. It was at this time I noticed her Switch gaming console. I messaged her and asked if she took it with her. She said no.
Turned out her husband had gone behind her back and sold it to a used game store. His story changed twice when caught in the lie. This Switch was a birthday gift from me to my sister a few years back.
It's October 2022, I suffered from an embolism. Most of my large intestines have been removed and I have an ostomy bag. I was told my stuff is in storage. I lost a lot of muscle mass in that time. So, I eventually upgrade to a nursing home in 2023 and continue to attend therapy as the hospital allows. I eventually apply to and get accepted into an income-based, handicapped accessible apartment "back home." Ultimately, I moved into my new apartment, January, 2024.
Now, sometime in 2023, my sister took her cheating X back. They were co-parenting so she was bound to see him a lot. For a time, the brother-in-law was living in that original apartment I was going to move into, which is why I know it was shitty. Not that he asked for it, but he was watching my two cats. Both of whom died, I assume at the same time.
When I moved into my apartment, my sister and her husband were able to get a lot of my things from storage to my new apartment. But it's not everything. Unfortunately, as my things got packed up, my sister also packed her stuff up and a lot of it got stored together. Every time I'd ask if another family member could go to the unit, she's said she needs to be there to say what's hers. I am having enough mobility issues currently, being wheelchair bound. I can't just go to the storage unit and direct someone to pick through boxes I sadly did not pack.
My fear is, I have a lot of gaming and collectibles. I have some back in my possession. But previously when I've asked my sister said she couldn't guarantee her husband hadn't sold some of my belongings. Sadly, I've asked so much she's now angrily said he hasn't sold anything. But I argue, until I see for myself, I don't know that. His past actions prove otherwise.
When I mentioned getting the police involved, she got very pissed. AITA?

2024.05.15 22:27 SSGOldschool A three day review of the M7 Spear

TLDR:
At the small post we were on, the 25m zero range and qual range SDZ's did not allow for firing these rifles. Something we only learned after confirming our zeros on the 25m range.
It's still heavy, but after a day or so you stop noticing it until you have to shoot from a standing position or doing are doing CQB. then you are painfully reminded how off balance the rifle is.
The two sample rifles we had were consistently 3 MOA guns.
The non-reciprocating charging handle on the left side is not as cool as I initially thought, and it ruins the whole "truly ambidextrous" feel that the Sig MCX line has.
The folding buttstock can go fuck itself.
A review of the 277 Fury rounds is here and you may need to read it for some context, but I have endeavored to make this review stand alone as much as possible.
Over the course of three days, a friend of mine and I lived with the M7 Spear. We spent time at various ranges, doing "tactical stuff", getting in and out of HMMWV's and GSA's, while trying to figure out the ins-and-outs of the rifle.
My sample, #087, had between 8K and 10K round rounds through it. The number of combat vs training rounds was not tracked, but given the expected barrel life is 10K combat rounds we ran a borescope through the barrel and the chamber to see what we could see.
His sample, #529, had between 6K and 8K of an unknown mix combat and training rounds through it. We ran the borescope through it as well.
There was no real difference in the wear between the two rifles.
We spent the morning of the first day playing around with the ammunition and doing comparisons against 308 168gr SMK, while the ultrasonic cleaner did Gods work on the various bits and bobs of our sample rifles.
Note when we did the ammo comparison we used a Remington 700PSS with 24" barrel. It quickly became apparent when we were testing the rifles, that was a poor benchmark, as the Remington outperformed both rifles in everything but rate of fire. Its a sniper rifle, granted its your Grandfather's sniper rifle, but its still a fucking sniper rifle. The Spear is not, its a battlerifle, and so I won't be including the comparisons here.
We tried cleaning them without the ultrasonic cleaner...but I'm not sure these rifles had ever been properly cleaned before.
I've got mixed feelings about the MCX system. It ticks a lot of boxes, short stroke gas piston, no need for a buffer tube or spring, superior handling of gas when suppressed and so on.
However, when it comes down to the nitty-gritty of the maintenance? I absolutely despise it. Despite owning a MCX in 300 blackout myself, every cleaning session feels overly complex and time consuming.
We kicked off the afternoon with both rifles, setting up for grouping and zeroing—my rig was outfitted with the Tango 6T sporting the "Hellfire" reticle in MOA, resembling your standard rifle scope setup. His, on the other hand, featured the same Tango 6T but with Hellfire in MILS, decked out with the Christmas tree reticle.
Some time back, I made a comment after my initial rounds with the Spear, labeling it a "tack driver." In hindsight, I probably should have clarified that bit. Typically, when shooting a new rifle, if I land three out of five shots within a 1 to 1.5 MOA spread, I chalk up any outliers to user error rather than blaming the rifle or the ammunition.
However, it appears that assumption was a bit off.
Our zeroing and grouping efforts at 100 yards turned into quite the saga. We found ourselves mostly hitting 3 rounds within the 1 to 1.5 MOA range, but occasionally, one or two shots would balloon the group size to between 2.5 and 3 MOA.
Instead of descending into frustration and stubborn attempts to tighten these groups, we opted to settle for anything under three MOA as acceptable for our purposes and proceeded to finalize our zero.
Side note, my last zero group was my best of the day coming it at just over 2 MOA. My friends best group came in at 1.8, and quite honestly he's a better shot than I am.
Research shows that the original specs for the NGSW called for a 4 MOA battle rifle. Despite some noticeable barrel wear on our two test models, both rifles still performed beyond this requirement.
Following our grouping and zeroing session, we spent the remainder of the afternoon plinking with training rounds at 100 yards.
During this, I learned a hard lesson about the non-reciprocating charging handle—it needs to be firmly locked forward before hitting the bolt release on the left side. After a couple of painful mishaps and a few close calls, I finally caught on and made it a routine to ensure the handle was properly set before engaging the bolt release.
I really wanted to get on board with the side charging handle, but after three days, I'm just not a fan. It tended to snag on my gear (Eagle MARCRIS plate carrier) when maneuvering or positioning the rifle to fire, making it less convenient than I had hoped.
Interestingly, I found myself using it more during offhand shooting. I'd instinctively remove my left hand from the pistol grip to work the side charging handle, rather than using my right hand on the traditional top charging handle. Yes, I'm aware this breaks the cardinal rule of keeping your firing hand on the grip, but this method felt more intuitive, similar to operating a bolt-action rifle.
When shooting offhand, the rifle scores highly. I don't often shoot this way, but I encountered none of the usual drawbacks associated with traditional AM platforms. Aside from the tricky side charging handle, the rifle seemed inherently designed for ambidextrous use, which I particularly appreciated when firing left-handed.
I was tempted to launch into a tirade about the ridiculously designed folding stock, but you deserve a more structured critique. Here are the three major gripes:
The stock's release mechanism is a convoluted affair involving an awkward dance of pushing down on the rifle while yanking up on the buttstock just to get it to close.
Once "closed," the stock doesn't truly secure—it juts out at a precarious 20-degree angle, seemingly relying on mere friction to stay in place, which neither of our samples managed successfully.
The overall build felt flimsy and loose, perhaps a consequence of the extensive wear from firing 8,000 to 10,000 rounds.
After wrestling with these issues, we wrapped up with a quick cleaning session for the rifles before heading out to the range we’d "camping" at.
The next day, we arrived ready to group, zero, and qualify with a local unit. We had informed them of our visit and assumed everything was squared away with range control.
However, that assumption fell flat. Turns out, the range’s surface danger zones weren’t set up for the 277 Fury. Just as we finished dialing in our zero (.75 inches low at 25m), range control showed up, questioning our activities.
Following an awkward exchange and the diplomatic offering of a case of beer, they agreed to let us continue and even served as OIC and RSO for the KD range. We proceeded with the old KD qualification, alternating between marking and raising targets, and both of us qualified without any issues.
With some extra time on our hands, and much to the amusement of range control, the session evolved into a lively mix of burpees and sprinting between shooting positions. We experimented with various firing positions and sequences, such as starting from standing unsupported at 100 yards and moving down to kneeling unsupported. This exercise underscored the rifle’s heft yet manageability, while also highlighting how the forward-heavy balance made extended unsupported shooting particularly taxing on the arms and upper back.
The afternoon unfolded with battledrills and land navigation alongside the unit we were scheduled to qualify with. Given the theoretical roles and limited numbers, the platoon leader assigned us to the designated marksman/squad designated marksman roles, which was logical considering we were the only ones equipped with the new rifles while the rest of the squad used M4s.
This setup sparked an intense discussion among the officers about how tactical deployment might shift once the rifle was fully integrated into service. There was plenty of speculation on how military tactics and doctrines would need to adapt to leverage the new capabilities offered by this rifle.
However, I'm somewhat skeptical. I don't see this rifle as the revolutionary game-changer it’s touted to be. While it's undoubtedly suited for the designated marksman role, I doubt the Army will invest the necessary time, money, and resources to train every soldier to this level of proficiency. Consider that there are reserve units that only qualify every four years, often just to help "point-needy" soldiers piggyback for qualification. This rifle won’t alter that reality.
As for the night qualification, we were slated to test that as well, but circumstances didn’t allow for it, so I can’t comment on how the rifle performs at night with night vision devices.
On the third morning, we headed to the LMG range, ready to go full-auto from a bipod, gearing up to tackle the 249 qualification.
Honestly, this was the most amazing shooting experience I've had in ages. The only snag was the 20-round magazine capacity, which felt limiting amid the thrill—it was the only moment of frustration in an otherwise splendid session.
We ran a practice session with the training rounds, followed by a qualification shoot with both the training and combat rounds. By lunchtime, our shoulders were thoroughly sore, but I can't remember the last time I'd grinned that much in a long while.
Post-lunch, we dropped in on some local law enforcement officers who were operating a shoot house. Initially, we navigated the course with M4s to familiarize ourselves with the layout and safety protocols. After getting a handle on things, we switched to the M7s, running through the course using the last of our training rounds, having depleted our combat rounds earlier on the machine gun range.
Both of us found ourselves moving significantly slower with the M7s. Reviewing the footage, it was clear that I was painfully slow to get on target with the M7. It wasn't just about slower movements, but also a delayed response in engagement. Initially, I chalked it up to age, I'm over 50 and a bit heavier than ideal, but the reality struck when I saw I wasn’t this slow with the M4. In fact, I was quicker than some of the officers.
Similarly, my buddy was slower than usual, not lagging behind me, but certainly off his usual pace with the M4.
Interesting side note: We're no longer welcome at that shoot house. The staff was fully aware of our arrival and what we brought along, and everything seemed fine until the exercise wrapped up and we faced some "constructively harsh feedback" about 277 and damage done to the tire and sandbag walls as well as the plywood target backers.
That's rant for another time.
Regarding the suppressor:
It's really more of an enhanced flash hider than a true suppressor. I'm probably a bit biased—shooting a 300 Blackout through a Sig TI suppressor spoils you with its movie hitman silence.
By comparison, the M7 setup was louder than my suppressed .308 shooting 175gr SMK.
On the topic of the optic:
The Tango6 was decent.
The clarity was impressive, and its brightness and MOA configuration were points in its favor.
However, achieving a consistent cheek weld and finding the right optic position for proper eye relief across magnifications 1 through 6, especially from unsupported positions, proved challenging.
The issue could be me, the stock, or the optic itself. While it was somewhat bothersome, it wasn't enough to cause significant frustration.

2024.05.15 22:25 jillhaspills First time buying wondering what to expect for US shipping? And looking for advice.

I have about 15 items collected at the warehouse so far. I’m planning on adding a few more before I ship. Almost everything I’ve ordered are shirts but my heaviest items are a set of plates and a shoulder bag. If I’m expecting to get a total of <25 items (all clothes except for that bag and plates) what’s the safest and most affordable way to ship to the US? Also does anyone have a ballpark estimation on shipping? And can someone walk me through the downsizing and consolidation process? What are my best options for shipping- sea or mail if I’m planning on probably shipping with fedex once it arrives in US? Should I split the order into two or three boxes or ship it in a bigger box? Just help.

2024.05.15 22:24 That1GuyFinn Electric Eldritch Blast Build

I've been cooking up a build I plan on running in an HM run soon and want some tips on improving it if possible
The build takes off at lvl 8. Lvl 2 GOO Warlock for Agonizing Blast and Lvl 6 Lightning Draconic Sorc for extra spell mod damage on spells that do Lightning damage.
For items (in order of how early you can get them) Spellsparkler (adds Lightning damage to cantrips) Necklace of Elemenatal Augmentation(add extra spell mod dmg to cantrips if they do fire, acid, lightning, etc. dmg) Daredevil Gloves(use spells in melee range) Potent Robe(extra spell mod dmg) Birthright(+2 Cha)
By the time I get Birthright, I should have 22 cha for a +6 to rolls and damage to EB. Meaning that with all the equipment I listed off, I should in theory get +24 dmg per EB.
Let me know what yall think

2024.05.15 22:21 Tiny_Mathematician92 What are your thoughts on a B2B marketplace for construction equipments

We team of 5 people are building a construction equipment marketplace 2 are from tech 1 is from Equipment Industry (30years +) 1 is from performance marketing The main problem with the market is Indiamart and how people are selling on Indiamart.
We have somewhat figured what majority business owners want : leads with high closure rate and less volume.
We are looking for some answers what are the basic plans should we start from 1. Let them charge for a single product to showcase (fixed plan model) 2 Earn commision on a product ?

2024.05.15 22:19 Key_Reflection_9918 Leadership EC’s for T20 and Ivy League

I need some leadership EC ideas that look impressive on college application.
I’m a freshman in the US, I’m going to do a job interview later this week, plan to take 6-8 AP classes throughout HS, play Tennis for my school but not really good at it (for now, maybe I’ll be some a star somehow lol) planning to do something medical related but for sure STEM.
Asian, not first gen, I think my family makes somewhere around 70-100k a year. Female (if that even matters).
I’m in a really good non funded youth group out of school where we have meetings, plan big events in the community, and volunteer. Plan to get two seals of billeteracy. Plan to do something in the science fair every year (didn’t do this year I forgot lol), do spirit week etc (student appreciation) at my school.
Next year I plan to join the medical science club, DECA (I have no clue what that is), key club, and maybe speech and debate and a religious student organization (maybe)all at my school.
I heard that making a website or starting a business to support family is good to do (signed up to make a web for Medical related stuff and planning to do business) but what are some other things I can do?
I mostly want to get into WashU, but I wouldn’t mind getting into similar T20 schools, I feel like I should plan to do more than what I need to for WashU (more like Ivy League) do that if I end up not doing stuff I will still be good enough for WashU.
Also today I got this email from my schools where they are looking for counselors and cabin leaders for middle school camps. Should I do it? I didn’t go to my middle school camp, I don’t want to really stay overnight and that would take a lot of work, but I may not get this opportunity again, should I seize the opportunity or will something better and more impactful for my application come up later on?

2024.05.15 22:18 brokeboy99 Bedframe Strength/Stability Question(s)!

Bedframe Strength/Stability Question(s)!
Hey everyone! I’ve been mocking up a bed frame project based on the popular Thuma bed frame. Here looking for some feedback on the plans as this is my first big project and don't want to risk anything breaking that could have been avoided. I tried to include as many screenshots as possible (probably too many!) to give context. Any insight is appreciated!
My goal is to have it go together without any fasteners besides glue in 3 places and friction fit for the rest. Reason being that I move a lot for work and want it to easily assemble/disassemble without needing any tools.
Starting with the legs/supports—I plan on using 3.5x3.5 posts
Top View: Measurements in inches.
Top View of corner leg with dimensions
Side View: Measurements in inches
Side view of corner leg with dimensions
Questions:
  1. Is the 1" on the corners enough? Think it will stand up to sheering and/or animals/children jumping onto the bed?
  2. I also plan on cutting a 5.5" board down to 4" on the end to "slot' into this. Will I lose very much strength/integrity in the side rails when doing that?
Overview of frame with only legs/rails:
Overview of frame with only legs/rails
Ignore bed slats for a minute. The 4 side rails are 2x6 (5.5 but will likely plane/join them so slightly smaller) and the center rail is a 2x4 (1.5x3.5). All four corner posts are 13" while the center post is 10" with some 2x4 scraps glued to the side purely to hold the 2x4 center rail in place while resting on the center post.
Questions:
  1. Does this seem strong enough for the same situations described previously?
  2. What is the theoretical max weight that could be applied to the middle of one of the side rails without it breaking as it currently sits?I've tried finding calculators online but not sure what to look for.
Slat Supports:
Image showing bedframe with slat supports on length rails
You'll notice on the top left rail there is a 1"x1" piece of wood. There is also one on the face hidden in the screenshot. I plan on gluing these in place.
Question: For this purpose of just setting slats (and subsequently a mattress and humans) is this strong enough?
Final rendering:
Final bed image with all slats in place
Final Dimensions: 83.50" x 87.50 " x 13.00" (king size)
I plan on using 2x4's spaced 4" the majority of the way (2" on the bottom rail). These will have fabric stapled on them so that they maintain their spacing. The top and bottom slats have a small cut in them so that they press into the corners of the rails and hopefully friction fit as intended.
All the slats will be resting on the center rail with its leg under it and the 2 glued 1'x1" slat supports running along the length rails.
Final Questions:
  1. Does this seem like adequate support?
  2. What part/piece seems most likely to fail first and any tips on how I can correct it?
  3. I plan on using standard, untreated dimensional lumber from a big box store. Given the design outlined, should it be fine strength wise?
If you somehow read this entire thing--thank you so much! Any help answering the questions above would be greatly appreciated. Also if most of the feedback seems positive/like I don't need to redo a ton--I'd be happy to share a final board count/cut list if anyone is interested.

2024.05.15 22:18 GrimmInDarkness Torn Veil: A Priest's Descent

Detective Pierce and his colleague Morrison walked down the dark hall to the interrogation room where Seminarian Crawford Rossi awaited them.

"Good afternoon, Mr. Crawford Rossi." Pierce greeted as he walked inside taking a seat.

Rossi cradled a foam coffee cup in his hands looking up at them with dark circles under his eyes "Good evening." he mumbled.

"I want to talk to you about what happened to Father Pesci." Pierce began opening a case file he brought with him.

"Father Pesci..." Rossi spoke softly keeping his head down before looking at both detectives "He wasn't a bad man."

Morrison nods in understanding “We just need to hear your side of the story.”

Rossi’s shoulders went lax, and he leaned back looking up at the dim light hanging above them.

“It was the day before Easter Sunday. We were setting things up and there was this weird box among the decorations.” he began rubbing his hands together and looked back at the detectives.

“A weird box?” Pierce questioned.

Rossi nods “I know it seems strange but…” he paused biting his bottom lip “This box didn’t belong to the church. When I took it to Father Pesci, he said it was probably donated by someone.”

Morrison nodded and jotted down notes in his notepad “What did this box look like?”

The Seminarian began describing to them the box he had found. It was a medium ornate box the baby blue and white polka dot wrapping paper was weathered as if it had been left in the sun all day. The white ribbon was frayed and splotched with tiny specks of red. The box felt so heavy in his hands.

“Did you ever open this box?” Pierce asked.

Rossi shook his head “N-no it felt wrong.”

“So, an old gift felt wrong to you?” Morrison scoffed shaking his head.

“Since it was unopened” Rossi wrung his hands together “I put it in Father Pesci’s office that morning and by the evening it was open” the Seminarian paused looking up at the detectives.

“What of Father Pesci?” Pierce questioned “What did he find inside that box?”

Rossi sat back in his chair rubbing his hands onto his pants “He was in the corner of his office mumbling to himself and the box…” he took a deep breath and exhaled “Oozed a brownish red onto his desk.”

During the service that evening Father Pesci will have murdered an entire congregation. Their heads placed onto their laps and hands wired together in prayer. Pesci himself disappeared after leaving symbols written in blood all over the walls behind the podium. The gift box was missing and nowhere to be found along with one of the hearses.

“I’m sure the entire event has been quite traumatic for you. Since you were the one to find the service in such a grim state” said Pierce giving Rossi a knowing smile trying to give the man some comfort.

“Detectives” the Seminarian began licking his lips “Will you be able to find the father before he hurts more people?” he leaned forward looking them both in the eyes.

“Of course we’ll find him.” Morrison was confident.

Pierce wanted to relay the same energy but according to the reports they had gotten back the hearse that Father Pesci had taken was found abandoned in the next town. Which means from there the possessed Pesci walked the rest of the way to his destination.

He did however have an idea where the Father was heading. There was an older case where a clown was attending a child’s birthday party. Or what was supposed to be. When the professional entertainer got to the house he was greeted by a cult. This cult did unspeakable things to this man using him in a ritual for whatever god they worshipped. Then placed his head into the very box that he had brought the birthday cake in.

A medium box with baby blue wrapping paper with white polka dots and a white ribbon on top.

A possessed Father Pesci was heading to the place where it all started. The place where that thing that now wore him like a suit was brought into this world. Pierce looked over at Morrison who furrowed his brow.

“Thank you, Mr. Crawford Rossi we will contact, you when we find Father Pesci.” Pierce assured him who nodded anxiously looking around before getting up to leave the room.

Rossi solemnly nodded getting up from his chair. As he walked to the door to exit the interrogation room he looked back at Morrison and Pierce. “There was something else I need to mention” he spoke low making the detectives to strain their ears to listen “Before I found Father Pesci he was talking to someone. A voice I never heard before, but it filled me full of dread.”

“Why are you telling us this now?” inquired Morrison
Rossi held his hands in front of him in a silent prayer “Because I don’t think I should have heard what they were talking about.”

Pierce scratched his chin “Can you tell us what was said?”

Rossi shook his head “No…no if I do. IT will come for me next.”

The ‘it’ he was referring to must have been whatever had possessed Father Pesci. He left the room leaving both detectives to go over the information they had gathered. Morrison flipped through his notes and clicked his tongue.

“What are we even supposed to do with any of this?” he scoffed motioning to the notepad in his hand.

“Don’t worry we have plenty of information to go off. Besides I know where we will find Father Pesci and hopefully, we will arrive in time.” answered Pierce who stood up first and headed to the door.

Morrison scratched his head following behind his coworker “I sure hope you’re right.”

Honestly even Pierce himself hoped he was right too because they had a long car ride ahead of them and had to make sure they brought the proper equipment with them. They had a Priest to exercise after all.

2024.05.15 22:12 Singercarcar People Whose Plans Fell Through

Hey yall! I’m seeing a lot of posts about people whose plans fell through and they’re scrambling to make plans. The same is happening for me.
I am a Groop Leader. I made a post about this yesterday too but wanted to again. I am desperately trying to meet the Groopie number requirement by midnight tonight. I’m not giving up hope until we hit that mark hahaha
That being said, if you need help making plans, I’d be happy to help. I quit my corporate job to work in my community and do community event organizing so strategic planning at a community level is something I love to do (my last day at my corporate job is tomorrow). 🤘🏼
This will be my 8th Roo. One of my favorite things about Roo is helping newer roovians have an amazing time. Roo was magic for me the first year I went and I like to be a part of making that experience happen for others. I plan like crazy ahead of Roo to think of anything our crew would need or ways to make camping better so that when we get there, we don’t have to think about anything but enjoying Roo. I even map out the layout of our camp so set up takes like an hour. It’ll help out a lot too with Groop camping and everyone coming in at different times.
I may be screaming into the void but I think I could be a really good Groop leader and I’d love to make it a reality. Lmk if y’all need help with plans! Yall can join my Groop!

2024.05.15 22:12 No_Measurement_4176 new constructions (from large builders) and real estate buyer agents

I plan on buying a new construction this summer in a subdivision where there are a slew of home builders (so the ones with model homes/sales people) with quick move ins
when i bought my current house, it was also a new construction but it wasn't made by a big box builder and i just clicked on "i want a tour via redfin" and just used whoever the agent assigned to it was. my experience was n't bad or great but i ended up getting the home slightly less than the listing price....
does the commission model work the same way with big builders? or is it a "your mileage may vary" type situation? I'm assuming if i use a real estate agent they (builder) will pay the commission? who pays the sales person?
could i automatically get a better deal doing it alone OR is that going to be dependent on my negotiating skills?
FWIW, i do think ill use a real estate agent mainly because ill be brand new to the city and they will have connections/relationships that we'd leverage (like inspectors)

2024.05.15 22:10 AokDzN Tourist entering Riyadh with rosaries

Hi everyone, I have a 4-day stay in Saudia Arabia (entry is in Riyadh airport) then will fly to the Philippines for my final destination. I will visit my sister who's working in KSA and plan to check out the tourist attractions as well during my stay.
The thing is I am a Catholic and have a couple of rosaries in my luggage. I bought the rosaries for my family. All of the rosaries are boxed and I won't open them until I reach the Philippines.
I'm not sure about the current rules when bringing non-Islamic religious items in KSA, and I have read mixed opinions about this online. Does anyone here have experienced the same or similar? Would the rosaries be confiscated or will I get fine for this?
Thank you so much.

2024.05.15 22:08 CosplayPartyPurple I shoplifted at the grocery store out of sheer hunger and desperation.

Several months ago…My husband and I hadn’t eaten in a day and a half. Bills to the ceiling Broker than broke. We were starving. Told him I’d go to the grocery store and get us some stuff for the next few day until one of us got paid. They had a buffet to go bar. We had $15 combined in our checking account and the power was scheduled to be shut off the next day. The food was priced by weight in the to-go container. It was a lot of food. I mean a lot. Enough to get us both through two to three days. Meats, chicken, beef, salads, veggies, fruit, pasta, cheese…I mean whatever I could stuff in that box. Could barely keep it closed. Had to carry it with two hands. I had a plan but didn’t know if it would work. But i had to give it a go. I set it down on the scale at checkout. $47. I panicked. Silently. But quickly made a swift decision. Picked the box up, so the screen would clear. Then barely touched the box down on the scale. I mean barely. Only the corner touching. Keeping the other hand under it so it looked like the box was just sitting there. $5 and change. Quickly moved it to the bagging area. Never picked up my head to look around as to not draw attention. Had to double bag it, it was so heavy. Slid my card praying it wouldn’t decline. Success. Ditched the receipt and came straight home.

2024.05.15 22:06 Complete-Audience147 colorado hiking /camping recommendations

Does anyone have any recommendations for early June hikes / camping spots anywhere in Colorado? I’m looking on recreation.gov for camping spots but it’s looking like everything is booked out (or first come first serve which isn’t bad!) I know i’m late to this but i’m trying to plan a trip with my brother who is coming to visit me.
I’m trying to plan something that won’t be too snowy. I know I won’t get much at a higher elevation but willing to accept any and all recommendations.
TIA 🙏🏼

2024.05.15 22:05 Klutzy-Vehicle8334 munar tennis

munar tennis

2024.05.15 22:02 0MGWTFL0LBBQ DeLorean Fanhome DeAgostini Model Disappointment

I've been at it for just over a year. I've been building the BTTF Delorean. I've ordered from MikeModz without issue. I'd recommend staying away from ModelModz(for reasons I won't get into for now).
Fanhome charged me for my December shipment but didn't ship it out for three months(see comment here). Finally they shipped out the boxes all the way to Issue 51, but I am still missing Issue 36. I reached out to their support once again.
There was a lot of "It's out of stock and we don't know when it will ship". After a few more minutes of questioning them, trying to find more information I was told "Hundreds of cargo ships are being rerouted around the southern tip of Africa to avoid Houthi attacks in the Red Sea. This affected our stock a lot, that is why for the majority of our collection we had stock issues as the cargo ships were delayed." That sounded a little off, so I searched online. "Hundreds of cargo ships are being rerouted around the southern tip of Africa to avoid Houthi attacks in the Red Sea." is the first line in this article from January. So, even if a cargo ship had to go from China to New York(as an example), it wouldn't go through the Red Sea. It would also take two months at most. But hey, what do I know.
I asked to talk to someone else, they said that I would have to disconnect chat and it might connect me to another agent. I asked for an email for someone in their company, perhaps someone who signed the Bill of Lading and could provide a better estimate of when the items would arrive at Fanhome HQ. I was told they don't provide contact info for any employees. I tried to look them up on LinkedIn. They don't have any employees listed. DeAgostini doesn't have any US based employees listed, even though they have an office in New York. Looking deep into their office in New York at the address listed in the invoice included with your shipment shows that it's registered to Becker, Glynn, Muffly, Chassin & Hosinski LLP, a legal firm that represents them, but does not own or employ them. Simply put, they only have this address listed as a U.S. based company for their tax ID and to have U.S. representation. It's not uncommon, it's just very inconvenient for anyone that wants to contact them.
Be warned, there's a lot of speculation that Fanhome is going out of business. If you start a model, there's definitely no guarantee that you'll be able to finish. From what I can tell, they're running out of the Eaglemoss issues & stock that they purchased in the buyout and they don't have any plans of manufacturing more. They haven't ever sent me a Fanhome or DeAgostini branded issue or part, it's all been Eaglemoss.
I'm likely going to pay a scalper for the missing issue on eBay and hope that the remaining issues don't have trouble coming through. Fanhome support also says they cannot skip an issue, so in the event that it does ever ship to me, I'll list it for cost on eBay.

2024.05.15 22:00 Zelcron Locations for this week's Abraxo Challenge - Plungers, TP, Catch a Commie

These three are quick to bang out if you know where to look.
Plungers and TP - Check out the buildings surrounding Whitesprings, you'll find enough of each very quickly, look for bathrooms obviously.
Catch A Commie - Head to Lady Janet's Soft Serve, along the road north of Vault 76. Travel south down the road a couple hundred yards and there is a burned out car with a box inside the driver's side doors, containing three of the game. I threw the others in my shop for 0.
Remember to have your PIP Boy skin equipped for these challenges.

2024.05.15 21:57 Firaxyiam Anyone planning to do the DLC as a "kinda Wretch"?

Ok so just to clear things out, what I mean by a Wretch playthrough is the concept of your first blind experience being as the character that starts with nothing. Meaning that as you discover the world for the first few hours, whatever weapon, armor, spell, etc that you find, you WILL use, because, well, you don't have anything else really. That Lordsworn Greatsword from ther first encampement is like a god-send weapon after bonking your way there, and that pair of pants you looted off a soldier is great for covering at least some of your character!
Sure eventually you end up like any other person starting as a Knight, Astrologer, etc, but it does makes those first few hours a bit "special", and you legit can't experience that anymore, since on a second run you know where the cool stuff is.
So I'm just curious, anybody planning to take that experience for the DLC? Like we know we'll get cool new weapon types and all that, but by going with our fine-tuned build, the chances of actually trying the cool new shit are a bit lower.
i'm not saying "going in a lvl 1" or something, just kinda going in either naked with a stick or without much gear, and equipping whatever you find first. Gives you the chance to really try out new spells, weapons, spirit summons, etc.
I dunno, again, it's kind of a "one time deal" that you can only experience in that time frame and never again if you "miss" it, so I think it's a neat concept for anyone interested.
