We have had a Shaw sat dish at our cottage in Northern Ontario for a long time. It's water access only so we can't use it in the winter. I keep the service going anyway but each spring we have to contact them to get it rebooted. It has never been a problem until this year. Not sure if it's because of the Rogers takeover.The service rep was not very knowledgeable and couldn't get it going. I am a senior and also had a hard time understanding her. Anyway we are thinking of canceling and going with the Bell Fibe TV App as we have Bell Fibe internet in Toronto and can get a good price on the Bell Fibe TV App. We have Explornet at the cottage ( another dish) so can run the Bell Fibe App with the Bell dongel or an Amazon Firestick to get the TV channels through Explornet. Its a cheaper price and we will not have to worry about the dish reboot each year and dealing with reps who have no idea of our situation. My question is...What should I expect from Shaw when I call to cancel. I don't think we are on contract but we did get new receivers last year as part of the phase out of the old ones. Looks like we have to mail them back. What about the dish? Will they try to keep us by offering a lower rate ? Any advice is appreciated.

One of the top lingering mysteries of the RUIN DLC of Security Breach is the identity of The Prototype Glamrock Freddy. Immediately, an argument could be made that it is the original Freddy animatronic. Of course, this is a fair argument to be made, but rather than just simply saying it's this or that, let's go over what we know and what the game tells us.

Prototype Freddy in RUIN

In Chapter 8 of RUIN, in Fazer Blast, Cassie encounters Prototype Freddy. After disabling the mask inhibitor, she discovers Prototype Freddy lying atop a heap of junk and staff bots, partially buried under collapsed catwalk. As Prototype Freddy rises and gives chase, Cassie has to flee.
Cassie is eventually cornered by the Prototype, to which she deactivates the inhibitor and he disappears when the mask is put on.
Theories regarding Prototype Freddy generally fall into one of two categories.

1. Prototype Freddy is the same Freddy as the Freddy in Security Breach
2. Prototype Freddy is a different Freddy

But ultimately, what I want to talk about isn't the theories in detail, but I'll go over them briefly and what are the main points of each argument.

Prototype Is The Same Freddy

When RUIN initially released, the theory about Prototype Freddy being the same Freddy in Security Breach wasn't as common as saying he was a different Freddy. Though this perspective seems to have become the community consensus or at least the one I see the most.
The Princess Quest ending is strongly hinted to be the canonical ending in some capacity, which correlates with Prototype Freddy's absence of a head and his presence within Fazer Blast.
In the PQ ending, Freddy's body is extensively damaged and torn apart, mirroring the condition of Prototype Freddy.
This theory also works with Freddy being in safe mode; if he's disconnected from the network, it's makes sense that he wouldn't appear in the network.

Prototype Is Not The Same Freddy

Prototype Freddy is argued to be a different Freddy due to the prototype writing on his foot, not seen with Freddy in Security Breach. Why would they add this if not to differentiate him from the actual Freddy?
Prototype Freddy is also ontop of a trash pile while he would just be on the floor, as seen in the Superstar ending where Freddy game ends.
Prototype Freddy also doesn't resemble the Freddy we know in Security Breach at all. Where Freddy is nice and friendly, the Prototype is mindless and a monster.
The gift inside Prototype Freddy is also a different color, being green and blue, compared to orange blue we see in the actual Freddy.

How Safe Mode is Assumed To Factor In

A major argument for why Prototype Freddy disappears is safe mode. The argument follows the idea that because Freddy is in safe mode, he is disconnected from the network. The same thing happened to Freddy in safe mode back in Security Breach; he couldn't see Vanny until he got eyes that were connected to the network.
So it's a pretty safe bet to say that Freddy couldn't see Vanny and disappears because he is not connected to the network, right?

Roxy in RUIN

Roxy in RUIN is involved in a cutscene where she grabs onto Cassie's wrist, before Cassie yells at her to let go. Roxy lets go and pauses, even saying error out loud. This later results in the shift we see when Cassie has to deactivate Roxy before she goes into the sinkhole.
The obvious question being, why does this shift occur? And since we're talking about it, the generally accepted answer is that she enters safe mode after the encounter with Cassie.
But the thing is, if she's in safe mode, why can she see Cassie when she puts on the mask? Why can Cassie see her with the mask on?
If Roxy is in safe mode, using the logic of Prototype Freddy being the same Freddy, we should not be seeing her. So what's going on exactly?

How Safe Mode Actually Works

To explain why safe mode doesn't affect Prototype Freddy at all, we first have to look at real-life examples of how safe modes work, and what we see in-game from Freddy.
Safe mode on something like an operating system is a startup mode that provides access to the operating system when the system won't start normally. Depending on the operating system, there might be different safe modes to choose from, and it may be called something different like safe boot, but ultimately, that's not important to the discussion.
When in safe mode, an operating system will often download the necessary files and drivers needed to properly function. Safe mode often doesn't have net access as it's more geared toward turning on the operating system and troubleshooting from there.

How Safe Mode Plays Into SB

We don't get much info or elaboration on Safe mode and how it works with the animatronics. But with what we know, we can gather a few pointers.

1. Safe Mode boots the animatronic with out the Mimic1 program
   
2. Safe mode either activates or is used with reduced power (from what Vanessa says)
   
3. The aniamtronics are disconnected from the network
   

Freddy, obviously loads without the Mimic1 program, as we don't see any of the unusual behavior displayed by the animatronics when afflicted by Mimic1.
Vanessa says,

Now parts and services have you on reduced power. They said it was a safety precaution.

Suggesting a connection between reduced power and safe mode.
Gregory tells Freddy and somehow knows he is disconnected from the network, but says that Vanessa cut him off? It's weird.

The Pizzaplex Network (And Actual Networks)

The network of the Pizzaplex is also something I want to explain. A network in simple terms is a system that connects two computing devices that exchange data and resources. The one most people know is a wifi network.
The Pizzaplex network is a little different, as it connects every electronic part of the Pizzaplex, from technology, devices, animatronics and servers.
The V.A.N.N.I. mask, is simply an extension of the network, allowing the technicians to interact with the network from outside of it.
When a computer shuts off, it disconnects from the network it is connected. Though, some computers through something known as LAN (Local Area Network) can still be turned on by other devices given specific circumstances. Other network managing tools may be able to detect devices, depending on the network.
Networks can also be divided into subnets, smaller controlled parts of a larger network. A company may have a specific subnet designed for the IT department. Often times, subnets are used to make things more efficient and control who has access to what.
If I run a business, where my staff use the network and I want my customers to be able to use the network, I would divide that into subnets so the traffic doesn't interfere with my staff.

What Am I getting at?

The point I'm making is how networks and safe mode function, which helps us understand Prototype Freddy. If Roxanne Wolf is in safe mode when we encounter her before the sinkhole, and then disconnects from the network, logically she should disappear, similar to Prototype Freddy disappearing due to safe mode. In fact, we shouldn't see most staff bots because they wouldn't be connected to the network while powered off.
Roxy is likely in safe mode as we see her talk in the same robotic way Freddy starts to in Security Breach, she doesn't use contractions (You're, Aren't). This is different from Freddy, who we're told doesn't use contractions normally in Tiger Rock.

For comparison.

"I remember because you are number one - twice." - Roxanne talking to Cassie in RUIN

All this is to say, that The Prototype is not in safe mode, and therefore, not the Freddy we know from the base game.

So Why Does He Disappear?

Earlier, I discussed networks and subnets. This is where that becomes important.
A question I didn't see anyone asking when RUIN came out, was about M.X.E.S. Aside from what it is, where it came from and a whole host of other ones. I never saw a specific question. Where does the M.X.E.S. entity go when it disappears?
M.X.E.S. is obviously part of the network, being a digital manifestation of the M.X.E.S. security program, but it doesn't immediately appear in the network despite the fact it should be there, and it's likely tracking Cassie.
M.X.E.S. is in fact in a subnet of the Pizzaplex when we don't see it. Subnets are designed to be secure and provide security for specific parts of the network. So when the entity gets an alert of the security of the network, it exits the subnet and goes into the main Pizzaplex network.
This would also make sense for Prototype Freddy. In order to be more secure and not affected by the corruption of the Pizzaplex network, Prototype Freddy would be moved to a part of the subnet to protect it. The M.X.E.S. program can then use it to stop Cassie like it does with the other animatronics.
That's also how he manages to track you without having a head. Compared to Roxy, Prototype Freddy can't hear anything, since most of its processors relating to hearing and seeing would likely be with its head. It needs a way to track Cassie, and it has no other way besides using the network. And when Cassie puts on the mask, it separates the two.
Prototype Freddy can't swap between the two networks; it remains in the subnet.
We know that the Pizzaplex was undergoing a reconstruction project before it was abandoned by the time of RUIN. We're also told from Tales that not only are there multiple Pizzaplexes, but we see first-hand in The Bobbiedots that animatronics get thrown out if they're damaged or whatever else.
There are tons of ways this could be a different Freddy and still suffer the damages we see. Maybe they were using this Freddy during excavation and abandoned him when the project fell apart.

Conclusion

Prototype Freddy can't be in safe mode to disappear in RUIN. He has to be connected to a different part of the network. It can't be safe mode because then that breaks the rules established by being disconnected from the network.
This was something I had been brewing for a while; it actually had me stumped because I couldn't come to a proper conclusion unless I had some evidence that Roxy was actually in safe mode. It wasn't until I remembered what the story Tiger Rock said that I could actually form a conclusion.

I'm in S5 in my rewatch and there was a scene that read as much more chilling to me this time.
Despite all the lives Elizabeth has ended or destroyed, for some reason the thing I find hardest to forgive is how she brings Claudia into Paige's life knowing how little respect Claudia has for Elizabeth's husband and family.
Claudia's first order of business as handler is to try to damage Elizabeth's trust in the partner she's successfully worked with for over a decade. She seems to hate Philip before meeting him based on his file, which is a nice parallel to Arkady reading Philip's file in S6 and thinking he's the man he needs.
Claudia's feelings about Elizabeth parallel Elizabeth's about Paige: she sees something of herself in Elizabeth and sets about ignoring or correcting everything different. She manipulates her into being her bestie until getting caught lying, and then gets rejected.
In the S5 scene I just watched, Gabriel's left and Claudia's returned as their handler. Philip doesn't want a personal relationship with Claudia, but Elizabeth goes to see her alone.
When Elizabeth asks where she's been, Claudia says she went back to the USSR. She says, she "spent time with my daughter and grandchildren. I hadn't seen them in years. The grandchildren didn't remember me. I don't know what I expected."
It sounds like she's sharing something vulnerable, but she's really dangling a scary future for Elizabeth: a daughter and grandchildren who don't know her. That leads directly into asking how Paige is. She clarifies that she's not asking for the Centre--more proof that the second gen program was a short-lived idea that began and ended with Jared. The big push for Paige was just about a bunch of people not wanting to lose their jobs and by now, maybe helped along by Paige immediately telling her pastor, it's over.
So this is a personal project for Claudia. (She has, after all, just realized how alienated she is from her own daughter and her family.) When she asks what Elizabeth wants for Paige, Elizabeth's happy to tell her that she wants her to believe in something (i.e., the same thing Elizabeth believes) and care about things that matter (i.e. the same things Elizabeth cares about).
Claudia notes this would make Paige "her mother's daughter" and asks if that's what Philip wants too. Elizabeth admits they'll never see eye to eye on this so they don't talk about it much despite otherwise getting along, handing Claudia a weak spot to exploit.
Look how cleverly and quickly Claudia's gotten her hooks into Elizabeth! It's like she's already planning their little club in S6. Does Elizabeth want to be estranged from her daughter like Claudia is? Or does she want Paige to be her mother's daughter? Philip certainly doesn't want that for her, right? But Claudia thinks it's great. She could even help. The Centre might no longer care if Paige becomes a spy, but the two of them know how important it is for her to care about important things...
There's a lot of things tragic about Elizabeth going for this so quickly--even while her body language and tone try to project that she's wary of Claudia. Not just because of what it means for her and Paige, but it almost seems to set up a self-fulfilling prophecy for her re: Henry too.

I'm so burnt out. I felt like I was crawling to the finish line for university and now that I'm done I have no energy or motivation for anything. My family wasn't very supportive during uni so I don't really want to see them. I don't have a job though so they expect me to visit them all the time.
I was nominated for a Rhodes Scholarship but the idea of grad school sounds so daunting and draining right now. I used to be so ambitious but now I just want to have a 9-5 job (once I get the energy to work) and live an average life.
I know I should develop healthy habits (diet, exercise, socializing, sleep etc). But I'm trying to do adult stuff like taxes etc and it all seems like a lot.

Forgive me if I vent but does anyone else feel like being average just isn't cutting it anymore? Perhaps social media is a catalyst but every single person that I meet isn't satisfied with what they have and the notion of success is measured solely on where you lie on the food chain.
Not everyone is genetically gifted, not everyone can look like a supermodel. Not everyone can be a billionaire but it feels as though being average is looked at as being a failure in this day and age.
How do I make peace with the fact that I will never be "extraordinary" and that my goals for life need to be tailored accordingly. How do I set reasonable expectations for myself and not be disappointed with what others have achieved? How do I be at peace knowing that I'm perhaps not desirable to anyone even if I try my best to be the best version of myself?
Why is being average looked at as failure?

First of all sorry for my English, it’s not my primary language.
My (29F) best friend (31F) for more then 10 years father(who is a retired contractor) did my entire apartment for free labor.
I only heard good think about is work from his daughter all our life. But as you can expect it did NOT go well for me… Other then the consistent belittling of my opinion over the make over, the main problem is that NOTHING end up good (not even great just good), the tiles aren’t leveled causing mini-steps on the floor, the doors cut uneven, huge and put inside out, the paint with so many brush marks and drop, electricity switches put on a 90°, and the biggest problem (and danger ⚠️) of it all : the electrical wired naked in the cardboard baseboard wich isn’t up to norms and so will overturn my house insurance in case of trouble.
I tried to talk to him but he basically told me norms are bulshit and I’m a brat.
I threatened to put him to court for the price it will cost me to repair at least the electricity who is dangerous, but he’s so cocky he doesn’t care. And there come the plot twist: he’s a sketchy entreprenor who put all his companys on my friend name so she is legally responsible of everything. He bought materials for my house with pro discount on old company (which is illegal here), never had clean tax declaration and a lot of other weird shit. So if I press charges it will probably put my friend in some DEEEEEEEEEP legal mess and be use by her ex to ask for full care of the child. She agree her father messed up, it’s so bad we wonder if he secretly hate me or « just » loosing his mind, especially since right after all this he start having some kind of strokes. I know he did me a huge favor working for free but his mess will cost me more then 40k€ to fix it. It’s not just a little accident, it’s really a messed up on his part and to keep insulting me over just apologizing and admitting his mistakes really pisse me off. He even won’t listen to his daughter who is completely unpowered in front of him.

Right now I am on an iPhone 11 bought in early 2020. I want to upgrade as it is starting to show its age. Based on my experience with it I would continue with the newest iPhone or wait for the next model and buy that one but Samsung especially with this year's model caught my eye. As of right now I am not sure if a Samsung phone will hold as well as an iPhone over the years. I am taking the past phones into account as an example of how much life I should expect but I couldn't find a consistency of how well the phones remained flawless. Also the recent problems with swollen batteries on Samsung phones (video from Mr. Whosetheboss) made me worry if I could use the phone for at least 4 years. I am looking at the flagship models ( S24 Ultra or S25 Ultra, same with the iPhone 15 and 16).
What are yours experiences and should I go for the S25 Ultra or remain with the safer bet on the iPhone ?
My previous phone was a samsung note 7, this was the source of my doubts as it had problems after 2 years.

You can see from my profile I left the other forum years ago because it is toxic af. I found out I was adopted as an adult and it went from hell from there. Now that I can get this off my chest, I am tired of both birth moms and adoptive parents.
Birth moms are not selfless. Like wtf do people keep praising my birth mom for choosing life and being selfless? My birth mom is the most selfish person ever! She could not keep her legs close to her brother in law and got pregnant with me. She hid it and is very upper class conservative. These women can create babies but don't want to step up and raise them. When I see people praise birth moms for giving their babies up I am like wtf. Why are we praising this? I only feel for birth moms who did not have a choice and had their kids taken. The birth moms who choose this crap are awful, lazy, selfish human beings who hide being this marketing adoption crap. Sorry to say this but real moms step up and take care of their baby not give them away. My birth mom could've kept and took care of me, she was too lazy and chose not to. I am happy my adoption was closed because in my eyes why are we rewarding these women for wanting an open adoption and seeing their baby when they could not even step up to parent. It's like these birth moms want to have their cake and eat it too. They want to be fun mom and make excuses why they can't parent. I am not talking about the parents who truly try and cant parent but the ones who can and don't even try.
And adoptive parents.. Gosh they are just as bad. My adoptive parents are fucking awful. They lied to me and didn't tell me I was adopted. They said they made a promise with my birth mom for me to never find out. They adopted because they could not have their own bio kid. Like seriously, why do adoptive parents have the same damn story? Boo hoo you're infertile, who tf cares. I am sorry, but there are plenty of kids who you know want or need someone to adopt them. Why do these people always bypass them? Nobody needs a baby My adoptive parents are the most selfish entitled people ever! My adoption was shady af with a shady ass agency who only cared about money. My bio dad never knew about me. He died not knowing I exist. My birth mom and adoptive parents thought it was a good idea to keep this a secret and my adoptive parents actually said its better not to tell my bio dad. Why? Because he could come and take me away from them or fight for custody. WTF is this crap!! My adoptive parents were so desperate for a baby, any baby they would do this shit and keep it from me. They were happy my bio dad did not know. They were happy they did not tell me. They were mad at me for finding out I was adopted.
My adoptive parents paid a shit load of money to buy I mean adopt me. And no adoptive parents are not doing anything amazing. Raising a baby is not amazing. That's your damn job. They are not special.
All of this crap is ridiculous.
And the myth of these poor struggling birth moms who can't parent due to poverty is a lie along with amazing adoptive parents. Both sides are trash expect the birth moms who have no choice. Why can't birth moms rethink about having sex and own up to their crap and why can't infertile adoptive parents just not adopt or adopt kids in need? Why lie?

I was looking to see if there were already answers to this question but couldn’t find anything on point, so I apologize if this is repetitive.
I was officially diagnosed with Crohn’s a little over three years ago (though, like many of you, it was a long journey to get there). Many medications and three colonoscopies later and my Crohn’s is still flaring. My doctor is likely going to switch my medication again, though he hasn’t discussed it with me yet (most recent colonoscopy was a week ago). I’m currently on Imuran and getting infusions of Inflectra every four weeks.
My husband and I are ready to start trying for kids but I’d like to know what to expect. Disclaimer: I know a lot of this will depend on my doctor’s recommendations, but I’d love to hear from you guys.
After reading some pregnancy-related posts, it seems most of you stayed on your medications while pregnant. But what if the new medication doesn’t work for me either? Have any of you switched medications while pregnant? Anyone stopped medication during pregnancy because it wasn’t working? Obviously, I’d love to be in remission before trying for kids but we’ve put it on hold for so long already that I’d just like to move on with my life, Crohn’s be damned.
Any other advice for me if I get pregnant while in a flare?

I (31 female) have been with my husband (30 male) for 9 years, married for 1. I want to provide a bit of a back story to explain what I’ve dealt with in the past to preface everything that has recently happened.
My mother (60 female) is very warm and giving. From the minute I announced we were engaged, she helped in any way she could. She and my father paid for our wedding venue, and on top of all of that, gave us extra money here and there during the process of planning the wedding. On the other hand, my mom is also a bit of a gossip. If she hears my mother-in-law say something that could potentially hurt my feelings, she tells me. I don’t think the intent is bad, however, she tells me every little thing my mother-in-law says and it often drives me crazy. Some things should be left unsaid.
My mother-in-law (60 female) is a very nice woman but is not very warm. She never really makes my husband and I feel supported during a big life change (like a wedding or buying a house), however, she usually steps in at the 11th hour. The entire time of planning the wedding, she constantly told me what I should do, what I shouldn’t do, etc. She is very traditional in the sense that she believes since I am a girl, my dad had to pay for my wedding, and since she was the mother of the groom, all she had to be responsible for was the rehearsal dinner so anything outside of that was like pulling teeth. She made me feel bad for decorating the dining hall where my reception was saying things like “Why do you care?”, and “I didn’t have to decorate my dining hall this much when I got married” and “No one is even going to pay attention to decorations”. My husband confronted her about this and explained to her that our wedding reception was a blank canvas that needed to be decorated. Nothing is included like it was 35 years ago. She made a bit of a stink and said she didn’t “mean it like that”, but she eventually apologized. Fast forward to the wedding day and she was nothing but nice, very attentive, and even helped me pay for my wedding makeup.
When we bought a house, she kept telling us “Good luck with that” as a backhanded comment, making us feel like we had to suffer because she did or something. She kept asking us who was going to help us move, in a certain tone, which made it seem like it wouldn’t be her and we shouldn’t even ask. Then on the day we moved in, she helped us all day and even stayed late cleaning and vacuuming for us. She also took us out to eat once we were finished.
She seems to do this often where she riles me up, makes me think she will not help, and then swoops in and does everything I ever wanted her to on the day of. My husband said he thinks she does this so she’s not tied to plans or feels obligated to help, but I just think it’s plain rude. Why would you make your kids feel like they can’t come to you for help? Then she tricks us because she ends up helping despite what she said.
Since dealing with this for 9 years, I have learned to brush it off, and when the time comes, I know she’ll help or be there for us. It’s not something I’m used to since my mother is nothing like that, but I have learned this is how my mother-in-law is and for the sake of my husband and keeping the peace, I deal with it.
Now onto what recently happened.
We had both of our parents over for a Mother’s Day brunch. We have done this in the past and typically, our moms do get along. However, my mom usually ends up telling me things my mother-in-law said behind my back because she truly has no filter. It’s like as soon as she has a thought, she says it without thinking. I usually roll my eyes and brush it off, but this time was different.
Our moms were on my living room couch, alone, having a conversation. No one was around them to witness this conversation, and I believe my mother-in-law does that on purpose. I recently got a promotion at work and my mom mentioned how it’s great I got a promotion and she’s happy the raise will give us some relief, especially with just buying a house. My mother-in-law says, “I think when they have a baby, they need to hire someone to help.” My mom said, “Oh, I’m planning to help them as much as I can if they have kids”. And my mother-in-law said she’s terrified to change a diaper and hold a baby because “it’s been so long”. My mom responded and said “Oh, I’m so excited for them to have kids! It’s like riding a bike. Once you’ve don’t it before, you can do it again.” And my mother-in-law said, “Well, I’m scared to take care of someone else’s baby.”
My mother told me all of this was said once my in-laws left for the day. I think my mom intended to warn me that my mother-in-law wouldn’t be very supportive if I ever became pregnant. Yes, my husband and I do want kids. However, why is my mother-in-law talking about what I should do before I’m even pregnant? What if we try and we can’t even have children? Why is this being talked about at all? My mother said nothing about us having kids, and out of nowhere my mother-in-law started making comments about what I should do. Her suggestion to hire someone implies that if I ever asked her to babysit or help in any way, she would tell me to go hire someone because she’s not doing it. Also calling her unborn grandchild “someone else’s baby” is a crazy statement considering it would have the same last name as her. She acts like I’m a stranger. And forget about me for a second, why wouldn’t she think of it as her son’s baby? Her comments are just plain hurtful.
My mom got upset because she would be thrilled to be a grandma and, sadly, we don’t feel that same energy from the other side of the family. I felt this way when we planned our wedding, and when we bought a house. I had to worry and wonder how my mother-in-law would act on the day of the event because all the days leading up to it, she was insufferable. And once the event came, she was fine. But this really isn’t something you should do that with. Having a baby is such a precious and special moment. Why would you make your kids feel like you will not give an ounce of help? No one provoked her to say that. Also, I never would expect our parents to clock in a take care of a baby 5 times a week when they’re retired. It would just be nice to know we can drop the baby at Grandma’s if my husband and I want to go out to dinner. According to my mother-in-law’s pattern, she would probably end up being a wonderful grandma once the baby was in her arms, but I don’t want someone around me who’s not going to support me until the last second.
My husband saw how upset I was about these comments and decided to call her. He started the conversation by saying, “My mother-in-law told me you said you’re afraid for a baby to be in the family because you haven’t taken care of one in a long time?”.
Before he could even explain further or mention the other things she said, she flipped out. She was screaming and crying, and my husband said he could barely make out the words she was saying, but some of what she said were things like “This is why I don’t like being around your mother-in-law. She always twists my words.”, “That’s not what I meant.” “How could you think I would mean that in a bad way?”. My husband tried to ask, “Well then, how did you mean it?”, but she hung up on him and hasn’t talked to him since.
My husband feels awful and now feels guilty, which I think was her goal. She usually never takes accountability and ends up making us feel bad for saying anything at all. He knows I deserve an apology and wants her to know that her words can hurt people’s feelings, but he doesn’t know how to resolve this since she pulled out the “woah is me” card. I also know that maybe my mom shouldn’t have told me what my mother-in-law said, but it also hurt my mom’s feelings because my mother had a very supportive mother-in-law so she was hoping the same for me.
Apart of me feels dramatic to be this upset, but I let a lot roll off my back in the past. I let her say whatever she wanted while I planned our wedding and bought our house. Now I feel like if I ever become pregnant, it would be another rollercoaster of her making shitty comments before the baby arrived (or is even conceived apparently). Both my husband and I hit a breaking point and decided to not let this one roll off our backs. Are we the assholes?

I (23 F) have been friends with this woman (23 F lets call her BEBE) since my freshmen year of high school. After high school, we still remained good friends and really we became closer after graduating hs. We ended up going to different universities, BEBE decided to go to a private university out of state and I decided to stay in state for college. BEBE dropped out of school during the second semester of freshman after struggling academically, and financially to keep up with tuition, and as a result, she began to struggle mentally. During BEBE's time out of school, she went to a community college on and off due to not being able to keep her grades up and she lost scholarships because her grades were too low so she had to work to pay for community college (she still stays at home and her mom was not helping her pay for school anymore since she was still paying off the loan from the university). Our friend group suggested that she take a break from school to get right mentally and financially. We have had multiple conversations about comparing her journey to others and how we are all on our own timeline. Right before my undergraduate graduation BEBE car was repoed and our other friend (lets call her Mia) had a birthday so I know it would have been difficult for her to attend my undergraduate graduation, she also said that it would have been difficult for her mentally to attend because she wasn't graduating. I respected that at the time. I was accepted into a one-year accelerated graduate program. During that one extra year of school, BEBE came down to my school to party multiple times, we took roads trips, and attended family events with each other (every time I would drive back home I tried my best to see her, like EVERYTIME even seeing her over my own best friend sometimes because she stayed closer to my mom's house). As my graduate graduation is approaching I told my friend group that I wouldn't be able to attend Mia's birthday plans this year because I had work, finals, and my graduation was the weekend following her birthday(which was on a Friday) ( honestly I was completely overwhelmed with a lot of things at the time and I was completely transparent about how overwhelmed I was feeling). I had told them multiple times that my graduation was coming up but BEBE and Mia never even acknowledged I said anything about my graduation ( I never gave them details because they never asked and honestly I wasn't expecting them to come because they didn't attend last year). On top of that my car was stolen right before I had to go and take a final exam, THREE days before my graduation, and the day before Mia's birthday this year, I was literally devastated and really just needed my family and friends support. We have a group chat ( Me, BEBE, Mia, and our other friend Sarah). In the group chat, the day of my graduate graduation, Mia was upset with Sarah because she fell asleep on Mia's birthday plans (activity was scheduled for 8 PM but it didn't happen until 11:30 PM), Mind you Sarah stays about 45-60 mins away from the activity and was waiting for them to tell her to leave out. BEBE follows up with a message saying that it felt like nobody cared about Mia's birthday. So I responded by saying I apologize for not being as enthusiastic about Mia's birthday this year but it was literally because I was overwhelmed which I expressed to them before that day and that I was dealing with my car being stolen (I haven't told them up until this point because I had no time to process this on top of making sure I finish my classes strong and I was still quite upset about it and didn't want to keep thinking about it). They never acknowledged my message... so I sent another text saying how I was upset that they didn't put in any effort to come to either of my graduations. after that BEBE and Mia were saying they felt the friendship was unequal, they were never formally invited, and that they weren't talking to me originally but yet they kept using "yall" and using other plural words instead of messaging Sarah separately or being direct. Mind you this is a couple hours before my graduation and they still didn't even acknowledge that it's my graduation day, didn't get a congratulation or even checked to see if I was okay after having my car stolen and expressing to them I was overwhelmed. Then BEBE and Mia started saying why should they tell me congratulations soo early when they didn't know what time my graduation was and the fact I didn't tell Mia happy birthday until the evening time on her actual birthday ( less not forget my car was stolen the day before and I was also at work trying to make calls to my insurance agent ). I never formally gave them details because they never asked or even acknowledged I said anything about my graduation. Then they went on to say they didn't even have a ride to my graduation but im like yall could've rode with Sarah but then BEBE goes she had to look after her 16 year old twin brothers......... and she wasn't attending no ones graduation because she isn't graduating. Personally I feel that is so selfish!!!!!! like I understand she's not graduating but like I just needed my friends' support during a difficult time. her saying she couldn't celebrate my accomplishments and perseverance because she's not where she wants to be in life is so not fair and it feels like she's in secret competition with me. BEBE states like she still mentally is struggling to deal with graduation season and personally I just feel like I am struggling mentally too and I have been a good friend to her through all her mental break downs so her not showing up for me is her simply being a fake friend, only wanting to party, drink, and smoke but when I needed her just to show up as a friend (and not for her to compare her life to mine) she couldn't and I am so disappointed. She ended up leaving the group chat and I am willing to lose this friendship because I feel I have really show up her on so many different occasions whether it be mentally and even financially. After all of that I just wanted to get a different perspective to see if I should've gave her more grace or no? Thank you for coming to my TED talk and appreciate yall POV!

At the risk of sounding arrogant, I consider myself to be at least marginally more intelligent (both academically & socially) than the average person. Therefore, if I ever decided to suddenly risk prison time, risk my reputation, and risk enduring the wrath of modern-day “cancel culture” by scamming people out of their money:

• I certainly wouldn’t do it for such paltry amounts of money. (i.e., anything less than $1,000 per victim.)
• I certainly wouldn’t choose high school & college students as my “target audience” to scam, considering that most people without college degrees have abysmally low annual incomes. Why choose low-income victims when it would be much more profitable to target high-income, high-net-worth individuals earning at least six figures a year? I have knowledge in business consulting, and I promise you that a business owner would be a MUCH more lucrative mark than a low-income college student.
• I wouldn’t choose such a time & energy-draining method of scamming people. Also, communicating back and forth with potential clients is an absurdly long time sink since only less than 10% of all potential clients who reach out to me actually become paying clients of mine. This means that 90% of my time communicating with potential clients ultimately proves to be a colossal waste of my irretrievable time & energy.
• If you pay me to provide academic services and I don’t deliver, you can always dispute the payment with the payment app and easily get your money refunded. If I were in the habit of swindling money from people, then all of my payment accounts would have been investigated and be completely shut down by now. And I would have been permanently banned from opening new accounts. Therefore, the fact that all my payment apps have been fully active for years should be sufficient proof that I haven’t had people consistently disputing payments sent to me.
