First of all. WHAT. WHAT. When I tell you I spent the last 60 or so pages with my head between my hands, jaw dropped and on the edge of tears at 3 am, I am NOT exaggerating. Here are some moments that particularly hit me.

1. Clubs wearing the wooden disc that Sazed carved him. I was so close to crying when I read that. We knew for a while that Clubs was not as hard and pissy as he let on. But to find out after he died that he did really listen to one of Sazed's religions, even though he was so cynical about them just a few days ago.... :( I'm not sure why it impacted me so much. I think just seeing a more vulerable and soft part of him posthumously was just so sad.
   
2. Sazed finding Tindwyl's body. Those few lines where he felt like a sham of a person, and subsequently when he had a hard time feeling or caring about anything as the three kings squabbled were so awful. Sazed is just the most pure, amazing person. Easily one of my favorite characters. To see him deal with this type of grief was so heartbreaking. And knowing that he's soon going to find out what happened to the rest of the Terris people and Keepers... it's too sad.

It was far too late at night as Corwin walked the halls of the castle. Pacing around the empty courtyards and kitchens as he pondered his future. Life for the crown prince had not been easy, and with the upcoming choices, it was about to get harder.

the age old question, i know, but i am genuinely a little puzzled right now. for context, i’m a bisexual woman and she’s a lesbian woman.
we’ve been online mutuals for months now but only started talking a few weeks ago because we both have a lot of common interests and got dumped (lol). at first, we chatted a lot because at least on my part, it was a distraction from my breakup, i just wanted some friendly company, but now i think i genuinely have developed a crush on her. i know it’s a bit quick, but i’ve found myself waiting for her texts, and even waiting for my shifts to end just so i could talk to her. she has increased my screen time from 2 to 6 hours and time spent talking to her flies by to me. if one of us has plans with other people, we would update each other so we know we aren’t ghosting. we also message each other good morning and good night everyday.
anyway, a while ago, we did our face reveals and she’s so gorgeous. i kept fumbling over my words because she’s just that beautiful. when i showed my face, she said she’s mindblown by how beautiful i look and she typed about 5 messages talking about how she likes my eyes. when i tried to deny it, she kept insisting that i looked pretty (don’t want to include specific wordings in case she sees this and realizes it’s about her). after that, we moved on to talking about something else and when i mentioned a habit of mine, she slipped up and said “cute.” but quickly took it back because she’s not really normally a cheesy person unlike me haha. and when i went into how i think she’s so pretty (again, not gonna use the specific wordings), she said it makes her go “AHHH” which i thought was so cute. when we were talking about another habit of mine, she made a joke saying “just how i like my women”. not to mention when i told her i’m smiling at my screen because of her, she talks about what my smile probably looks like. i don’t think she even realizes this, but comments like these make me blush so much it’s embarrassing.
i don’t know if this is a genuine crush or an infatuation, and i don’t want to make her uncomfortable or anything, so i normally just keep it friendly and slip in a few “you’re so pretty” here and there when she sends me pictures of herself. this is insanely stupid i’m aware, considering we haven’t even been talking for that long, but it’s slowly driving me insane, which is ironic because she jokes about how she drives me crazy. she does drive me crazy, just not in the way she thinks.

On the second try we can finally say that content when it comes to Robots and Synthetics and Cyber related things is where we want to be. And dare I say most flashed out when compared to other types of species or ascensions.
But where do you think Stellaris should go next with its next big expansion?
I had my 3 ideas that I think would be neat.
1 - Another Galaxy. Mysteries of other galaxies is a big trope in Sci Fi. Other galaxies are far and full of mysteries and other races and technologies and their own secrets and threats. I think it would be interesting to have endgame project where you build Arks and travel to another galaxy. And then have a decision to make. Will you remain in your current galaxy while sending ARK on its way and get tons of unity. Or go with the ARK and "start a new game" in new galaxy. You will have all your tech but will be cut off from your main source of income and all that kind stuff. And it will be up to you to create new foothold of your Empire in another galaxy while solving new mysteries and meeting new empires. And maybe even making contact with folks back home.
2 - Mirror Universe - I always like the idea of Mirror Universe from Star Trek where everyone there is twisted and evil form of their prime selves. Would be interesting having new Mid or Late game crisis where mirror versions of Empires start attacking our reality but also we can contact others in Mirror universe to help us. Maybe they will send imposters to hide in your Empire while the real people are held under lock and key. Maybe your favorite and most notable Admiral is actually a Mirror version and will lone day strike against you with entire fleet under his command.
3 - The Unseen - The idea of playing as something that cant be fired upon and cant be defeated by might is very interesting. Playing as a parasite or infection where your don't try to spread by using star bases and outposts. But rather latching on others as they take you towards the stars and you siphon resources from here and there. Causing robots to rise against their masters. Taking over ships to do your bidding. You are a living code, a cloud that cant be killed or destroyed. Your tendrils spread far and wide across multiple Empires. Example is Umbral Choir from Endless Space where they play differently from everyone else. While you can combat them you cant fight them like you would others. And it could even be diversed kind of "virus". Are you a biological virus that infects living things? Are you THE BRAIN SLUG?. Or are you celestial plague that originated from another realm? Or are you a virus that was once cast out from Mechanical civilization but now you will infect the galaxy once more and you will be the superior program of all.

I just got a 10 week old puppy from a rescue. He had two doses of parvo, leptospirosis, dewormer, flea treatment, etc.. He was rescued from an Amish farm, so I'm assuming(?) mom was unvaccinated, as well. These were unspayed/unneutered working dogs, not a mill, according to the rescue, though, not sure that is relevant.
I've had him for 4 days, started with vomiting late last night, undigested food. Then 2-3 times of bile. He then had watery stools throughout the night (3-4 times) and was generally fatigued. Initially, I assumed too many treats, too much outside time/excitement etc., but this morning he had blood in his stool and was more lethargic, so I brought him to the emergency vet. They tested for parvo, at my suspicion from everything I've read, and he's positive.
Obvisously I had two treatment options, inpatient and outpatient with the inpatient being the preferred. That started at $5k and was told it could easily go up. Vet was beyond wonderful, so no issues there, and he was thoughtful in his recommendation for inpatient, but understanding of the outpatient option.
Outpatient was considerably less expensive ($700 as of now) with potentially less favorable results. I chose the outpatient option on the caveat(s) that my pup is 12lbs, a larger breed, and he did have two vaccine doses, pink gums, soft belly, low grade fever, hadn't vomited in 12 hours and was taking in some water, BUT if he got worse or didn't improve within a day or two I'd bring him back.
They gave him fluid in his hump, a anti-nausea shot, two antibiotics, an appetite stimulant and oral anti-nausea to take home.
Since bringing him home, my pup is still super sleepy, but has been drinking when awake (still no vomiting) and scarfed some rice and beef earlier and had chicken and rice an hour+ later. He also had a smidge of scrambled eggs and a tablespoon of peanut butter to choke down the oral antibiotic. He tolerated all of that well, but hasn't has a BM since this morning. Is that OK? Is blockage a worry with parvo? He has peed normally and his stream appears clear. He's not in obvious disress, apart from being tired. He's at times a little whimpery (if I carry him outside to go to the bathroom) but does not seem overly uncomfortable, but is definitely low energy.
He was totally fine and an absolute shark tooth monster yesterday, so this feels like it came on super quick. I work from home and have a very casual schedule, so he will not be alone, at all, during any of this.
I guess my question(s) are...he hasn't pooped in 8 hours. That will come?
Does the eating and drinking sound promising?
Can he be reinfected? I read to bleach everything, but he's gone to the bathroom outside each time and we're not socializing with other people or animals.
Any other recommendations over the next two days of at-home treatment?
I've read all the parvo stories here...as much as I could mentally handle. Just looking for any positives or reassurances with my pup. I appreciate any further advice.

Quick background: 2021 was the year I first listened to BNL. All I heard were their big singles from Gordon, Stunt and Maroon (One Week, Pinch Me, It's All Been Done, etc.). But in 2022, I listened to Gordon in full, and it impressed me. Then I checked out Stunt, and let me tell you, from the bottom of my heart, I ADORE that album. I also listened to Maroon, and while good, I'd honestly rather pick the other two over it.
Last year I listened to MYSD, BoaPS and Rock Spectacle to feed the itch. And this month, I listened to EtE and BLAM (can we call this a double album?).
Here's my basic rundown on all of them:
context: this is from the perspective of a Gen-Z'er. Can confirm the quality crosses generations.
Hopefully I don't piss too many people off with my opinions.
1). Gordon: very good
-Best tracks: Grade 9, Brian Wilson (duh), Wrap Your Arms Around Me, What a Good Boy, Box Set, I Love You, The Flag, Million Dollars (classic)
-Weakest track: probably New Kid (on the Block). It's the one song I rarely revisit for some reason. Probably because it sounds too much like Enid and Box Set.
=More jazzier than I thought
=Very uncommon to see a band take off running on their debut record. Each of these songs can stand firmly on their own with few exceptions, which is something I always value in albums. This is required listening if you want to know what BNL are all about (at least, in their earlier days, sonically speaking).
2). Maybe You Should Drive: not bad. Pretty good.
-Best tracks: Jane (feels like a song this Spanish artist my dad loves named Jose Luis Perales would make), These Apples, A (I love the drum outro), Am I the Only One?, Life in a Nutshell
-Least favorite track: I will be Waiting (too twee for me. I feel like I'm listening to Hey There Delilah, and I actually like that song).
=probably the one I come back to the least. Not because it's bad by any means, but their other albums feel more memorable. Sitting next to Gordon, this doesn't really compare. There's also more electric guitars, compared to Gordon being very acoustic-based.
=There's some other songs I remember loving like Great Provider, but idk, this feels like a middle-of-the-road type of album. Still a good 7 or light 8, however. It does also have some of Tyler's best drum tones.
3). Born on a Pile of Pirate Ship: damn good
-Best tracks: This is where it ends (Jesus, Steve), When I Fall (Jesus Ed, I didn't expect this to be about a suicidal window-washer), I Live with it Every Day (Jesus, Steve.......), Break your Heart (Jesus Christ, Steve.....), Same Thing (really somber for a song that references the Fantastic Four), Shoebox
-Weakest tracks: Straw Hat and Old Dirty Hank, and I Know. Both are alright, but they scream "B-Side" tbh. Definitely could've been cut out.
=Overall, as you could probably pick up from my favorite tracks, I think I love this album because of how somber and introspective it gets. Some of their most crushing songs are on here. Though Shoebox does close it out on a more light-hearted note (at least sonically).
4). Stunt: my favorite
-Best tracks (so many!): Call and Answer (one of the greatest songs I've ever heard, which is something I don't say lightly), It's all been Done (my favorite BNL guitar solo), In the Car, Who Needs Sleep (that chorus is the most earwormy thing they've done), Some Fantastic, When you Dream
-Weakest track: if we're including the bonus tracks, definitely She's on Time. Feels very samey and borderline uninteresting.
If going by the normal track listing, Alcohol. And even then, it's only really because I haven't revisited it as much as the others. That, and I don't think it works that well as the song that precedes Call and Answer.
=Like I said, I dunno man, there's something magical about this record that makes me swoon over it. Probably not their overall best, but definitely my favorite. It's an album I can describe as one I'd like to take with me on a desert island.
=It's bright, loud, but also tender.
=That said, my one peeve is the track listing isn't perfect. Mostly speaking, It's all been done honestly could work amazingly as one of the closing tracks. And Call and Answer I feel would work better if it was placed after Who Needs Sleep or something, instead of being the smack-dab middle song. There's a reason this was a live staple and show-closer.
=Still, as a whole/unit, I love Stunt.
=I think I have 80-90% of the verses to One Week memorized.
5). Maroon: Good, but I prefer some of their other albums.
-Best tracks: Pinch Me (this BNL song means a lot to me, lyrically. I tend to spin it whenever I'm going through a tough time mentally. It's also a good guitar warm-up), Never do Anything, Falling for the First Time, Off the Hook, Helicopters, Tonight is the Night......, Hidden Sun (Kevin knows how to do lullabies)
-Weakest tracks: Too Little Too Late, Go Home, Humor of the Situation (catchy as it is)
=Like Pirate Ship, the strongest moments lie in the serious tracks.
=This is my "hot" take: I don't love Maroon as much as everyone else does. Big reason is because Steve sings lead on most of the album. And look, I love the man as much as the next guy, and his voice is undeniably godlike, but ngl, there's something about Steve and Ed sharing vocals (or having an equal number of songs they sing lead on) that I really love. Another reason I love Stunt, they each get a good number of songs to shine in. I know the trade-in is Steve & Ed had a whole Lennon-McCartney/Collingwood-Schlesinger writing credit thing to my knowledge, but still, maybe Ed could've sung lead on at least 1 or 2 other songs (Steve still absolutely slays the performances on all his songs, no doubt).
=Even then, I can't call Maroon a "Steve Page solo" album either, as that sort of BNL signature quirkiness and cleverness that comes from the Page-Robertson duo is still found (Never do Anything, Sell Sell Sell).
=I also sometimes think it's not as interesting sonically. I liked Stunt because of how distinct nearly every track was, but Off the Hook and Helicopters, great songs as they are, can feel samey. I feel Maroon lacks some of that extra energy and punch.
=But still, a really solid record. And I definitely don't blame anyone for saying it's their favorite/BNL's best. Pinch Me is still one of the most intimate and personal BNL songs for me, as someone who struggles with anxiety and occasionally, self-harm (hope that wasn't too TMI, but I'm very well right now).
Alright, these next three I barely listened to for the first time this past weekend, so these are my quicker, fresh thoughts. We'll see how they change by next year.
6). Everything to Everyone:
-best tracks: Another Postcard (Ed's verses are too damn catchy), Testing 123 (a fantastic meta track that leaves me smiling. It's weirdly uplifting, if introspective), Next Time, Shopping, War on Drugs (I feel I'm only going to love this more with time), Aluminum (pretty somber), the last three songs
-least favorite: Unfinished. And it's literally only because I can't remember how it goes again. Again, I just listened to this album on Saturday. Give me time.
=I hyped myself up for this album a bit. It feels pretty ambitious
=I'd listen to this over Maroon because of the more varied sounds. Shopping has some nifty electronica, For You is more softer and acoustic-laced, and Maybe Katie leans more on Old Apartment style guitar power.
7). Barenaked Ladies are Me: very simple, but in a perfected way.
-best tracks: Easy, Home (this is I will be waiting, but infinitely better), Peterborough and the Kawarthas, Maybe you're right (the emotional climax of the record in the key of C), the last 4 tracks (a lot of the track listing is a home run).
-weakest track: Everything had Changed
=I can't remember when, but at what point, I couldn't help but smile and think "God I love this band!"
8). Barenaked Ladies are Men: still good, but Are Me was undeniably better
-best tracks: Serendipity, Down to Earth, Beautiful (I love those whispered lines Steve does), Half a Heart, Maybe not, I Can I Will I Do, What a Letdown, Fun and Games (really neat tone that treads on black humor)
-weakest tracks: Something you'll never find (it ends great, but overall, the song goes for longer than it should), Angry People
=Definitely not as great as Are Me. Biggest reason is it's too long. Cut out a few songs, maybe rearrange the track listing, and it would work better. But even then, are Me had a better streak of top notch songs. Are Men feels at times like a bonus album, as opposed to being an equal to are Me.
=Still worth listening to, but again, it didn't need to be 16 songs.
=Of course, with almost 30 songs recorded, I'm not going to remember all of them. Come back to me maybe next year when they've all sunken in for me.
So yeah! That's my two cents on all of the main Steven Page BNL releases! There's something great in each of these records, and I wouldn't take back any of it. My new favorite band.

No sports stuff, no livestock guarding. **Care Commitments** 7) How long do you want to devote to training, playing with, or otherwise interacting with your dog each day? 2-3 hours max. I work during the day. Not remotely. When I come home, my energy is limited. I usually take my dogs for a long (45min-1.5hr) walk and then play with them maybe 1 or 2 more times in the evening. I would want a dog that's okay with that or won't drive me crazy for more play or cause problems while I am gone. 8) How long can you exercise your dog each day, on average? What sorts of exercise are you planning to give your dog regularly and does that include using a dog park? 2 hours or so, mostly going for a walk. But also some play with me. And also some play with my other dogs. My other dog was traumatized after being mauled by a rotweiller at a dog park and he is not able to function pyschologically at a dog park. So for the time being, dog parks are off the table. 9)How much regular brushing are you willing to do? Are you open to trimming hair, cleaning ears, or doing other grooming at home? If not, would you be willing to pay a professional to do it regularly? Less is more. I prefer shorter hair dogs and less grooming. I'd rather not pay a professional. Brushing a bit is fine. Some shedding is fine, I can sweep and vacuum. I don't want to have to trim. **Personal Preferences** 10)What size dog are you looking for? By height one of the biggest. By weight maybe top 20. 11) How much shedding, barking, and slobber can you handle? Some shedding is fine. Some barking is fine. Barking in response to every dog in a 1/2mile radius that is also barking at night is a no-go. Some slobber is okay. Needing a waterproof floor levels is too much. 12) How important is being able to let your dog off-leash in an unfenced area? It's nice if I can find a place. But I suppose the point of the question is more about how well they get along with strangers and other dogs off lease right? It's moderately/somehwat important. On a side note, I'd love to hear recommendations for places like this other than dog parks. **Dog Personality and Behavior** 13) Do you want a snuggly dog or one that prefers some personal space? At least somewhat snuggly. 14) Would you prefer a dog that wants to do its own thing or one that’s more eager-to-please? Unsure. I mean If I say come, I don't want the dog to respond with casual indifference. 15) How would you prefer your dog to respond to someone knocking on the door or entering your yard? How would you prefer your dog to greet strangers or visitors? Barking is fine. Some amount of friendliness. 16) Are you willing to manage a dog that is aggressive to other dogs? No 17) Are there any other behaviors you can’t deal with or want to avoid? I want a dog that I can leave inside unattended/unsupervised. Since I am a home owner with my fenced in yard, and no HOA I'm not subject to whims and restrictions of an appartment complex 24) What is the average temperature of a typical summer and winter day where you live? im a phd student (canada) and am entering what i think is my third..? year of grad school in less than a month. i feel like im at a point where i like what i do, i have a great work-life balance, and i finish my work pretty quickly too. i used to have problems with my time management and always felt tired and overworked, but i came up with a new time management schedule in the past couple of months that has helped me a lot:
-#1: i work in person 4 days a week, and i work at home one day a week (preferably near the end of the week). i am a STEM student so my in-person days are either data collection days in the lab or lab prep days. the work from home day is for data analysis, meeting prep, planning, and lit review.
-#2: i stopped working on the weekends almost completely. the exception is light data entry or lit review for a meeting prep but i no longer do lab work or heavy data analysis on the weekend. i plan ahead so i dont have to.
-#3: i began recording the exact number of hours i work each day and i tally it up at the end of the week. i only include hours i am geniunely working … breaks to snack or talk or go on my phone are not included. neither is physically being on campus included. if im reading, typing, taking pictures on a microscope, setting up lab materials, collecting data, or in a meeting, that counts.
the problem is, now i feel like my life is so chill LOL. i know i should be counting my blessings but i feel like a bit of an imposter or a fake phd student. ive been sitting at home all day today and have done no work but i honestly dont have to. i dont have any lab work to do; i already set everything up for my experiment tomorrow. i have a lot of lit review and data collection and analysis and comparison completed for this point in my study so i feel like i dont need to stress to write or go do more. my project is also such that i am getting a lot of data points, significantly quicker than my peers. i should be done my data collection in the third year of my phd. i can afford to take it chill right now. but i feel like im doing something wrong.
i always read about grad students who work 40 hours a week but i work like 20-25. my supervisor and industry partner are happy with me and everyone in my research group says i work the most. even the industry partner employees think i work a lot. but im geniunley chilling at home or sleeping or watching tv or reading or buying groceries so much of the work day. i try to work fast when im at school so i can go home early and then i just come home and chill. i’ll still respond to emails but im never really working.
i dont know, i guess im wondering, does anyone else ever feel this? i guess i also feel guilty because i do feel very stressed at some times and the work does get very tiresome at times but in general i like what i do and am not in a bad situation, while my siblings have to work a lot and i feel like when i complain, its just stupid lol. i know a phd is super hard and a lot of people have to work so much. but i feel like im not working enough. maybe i just lucked out on my supervisor or my project? or am i really not working enough?

Hi everyone. So I'm looking for some guidance in this situation. Located in west valley city, Utah.
August 2023, my wife and I purchased a home (townhome) in West Valley City. Its an older unit but we wanted it as a starting home.
We knew this home came with some small cosmetic issues and 1 outside problem. The outside problem was mostly seasonal, and everything else was fine since the house is in a great location from freeways and main roads and the shops around it are growing so we saw the future potential on the home.
The outside issue is that our driveway collects water during rain time. To the point on which we would have 2 inchs of standing water on our driveway. The issue goes away around 24-48 hrs after it stop raining and it goes back to normal. Other than that the issue is almost nonexistent.
When we bought the house. We knew it came with an HOA. Yeah we know it was our first mistake. But this house was in our budget. It fill most of our requirement list and we saw the future that it had. We read the HOA requirements and what they covered and the requirements weren't so terrible, and they covered a lot of things we thought were okay.
On August we saw that when it rain, water would accumulate on the driveway. We signed the papers on august. We already knew about the standing water since we did a full inspection before buying the house. And this was address during the inspection. However, the seller and previous tenants told us that the HOA was working on the situation. We started to see what else we could do about it from our end. And found out the HOA covers this part of the house and we couldnt do much without havingto involve the HOA.
We called them in August. Addressed the issue with them and specifically told them that the issue was in our driveway and no where else and that the water was filtering into the living room when it was too severe. We decided to not install our floors until this issue was addressed. On September we "moved in" and we started to work on the house.
On September 27th, The HOA sent a company to come "fix the issue". I happened to be home that day. No one called us and told us anything. I was getting there and they were knocking on the door and thats how I found out. We had to reschedule with the concrete company because no one told us anything and we were working on the house. So we weren't ready. They came back about a week later and what they did was installed a French drain outside on the grass area and didnt do anything to address the driveway issue. When the concrete people came, they worked on the inside, removed our drywall and left our home. I called the concrete company directly and asked them when they were going to finish our walls and they said that "we remove the drywall and insulation but we dont installed it again. We do the other work. The finishing and installation of drywall has to be some other company or someone else since we dont do that". We told the HOA and no one did anything so I fixed it myself.
We contacted the HOA and told them we still have the problem. We address the issue again to them. That the driveway is the problem and not the grass area. Because the issue was not fix. They said they would look at it and let us know what other thing they could do.
We waited about 2 weeks and we emailed them again, and no answer. We emailed them again after another week and no answer. By this point it was already almost November. I emailed them once again but this time in a more threatening way saying that if something happen to my family and my property in relationship to the standing water (water freezing and my wife falling down. My car sliding off because of the ice or my walls getting damaged due to water expanding inside) they would be responsible for it. Within 24hrs we got an answer and 3 days later they came over to check what else they could do.
They said that because of the weather they couldnt do much. (No shit) It was almost December by now. And I told them thats why we let them know back August/September and they ignored us. We decided to wait until 2024 and see what they would do.
Well we reached out again on February and in march 2024 the concrete company came to the house to "fix the issue" when they arrived without giving us a noticed they saw that what they had schedule was not even what they could do and they had to reschedule. They said they would called us in about 48hrs and tell us a plan. Well its may and we still havent heard from the HOA or concrete company.
We are going to 1 year of trying to fix this issue and the HOA keeps ignoring us and pretending that they dont know whats going on. We emailed them twice in the last weeks. First email was ignored. Second they said they would let us know. This was almost 2 weeks ago
What can we do to fix this? All i want is the driveway to be fix so I can install my floors. I have over $2k on material sitting in my living room because I cant install it because I dont know when they will fix it and if they are doing anything inside the house. Since I have concrete on the main level it gets extremely cold during winter and I have a 2 year. Space heaters are expensive on electricity and I cant keep one running 24/7. Are there attorneys or organizations that dont charge much who can help me or guide me? Like i said all I want is to get it done and fix and nothing else. I dont care what the HOA does after. I just want to finish my house.
We suggested them to install a drain or some type of way to send the water outside but they keep ignoring us and saying they will see what other things they could do. Any one has any suggestions on what to do?

New discoveries are made every day, such as over 2,000 new species being discovered each year, and yet humanity is still in the dark on so much. The ocean has been a huge interest of mine since I was young, specifically the animals and stories that go along with it. From gigantic monsters like Leviathan, Kraken, eels longer than buses, glowing creatures of the deep, to actual real life monsters like the giant squid, spider crab, angler fish and more. Every single story or fact is beyond entertaining to me, and I really want to base an RP on the ocean.

I’m usually free at least once a day, and I can give at least one response a day, maybe more. I have been roleplaying for 5 years at this point, and consider myself a literate style writer. I’m able to break discords word limit on occasions, but it’s not needed for most scenes like dialogue or action. I’m a huge nerd (if you haven’t guessed already) and enjoy conversations about sci-fi, horror and fantasy. I roleplay exclusively on discord and Reddit. Now then, the plots!
Plot 1: Sci-fi horror For this one, I’d base it heavily on books like The sphere and 20 trillion leagues under the sea. So it would be a standard ocean research gig, but slowly transforms into a fear inducing battle to survive. This transition can be caused by a couple things: mysterious artifacts/areas, god-like creatures beyond human comprehension, or the simple getting stuck trope. That is all up for discussion! I’d like to have a fleshed out cast of at least 4, max 7 characters. I’d love to explore themes of close-quarters living, the struggle of trying to keep it together as a team when everything seems so hopeless and of course, themes of fear and panic with no escape. Romance can be included, but isn’t needed!
Plot 2: fantasy romance This one would be based more on stories like Bailin and Li Yun, and Castle Swimmer. I can imagine a heart warming and heart wrenching story, either set in a completely fantasy world between two underwater-faring adventurers, or a more modern fantasy style romance between a human and an ocean dweller. Either way, it’ll be very fun to see what we can come up with! For this one romance is a must, and I’m open to all pairings. I have a current preference for MxM, but any pairing works for me!

The narrator explains the intricacies of the case. The background of the victim. The lack of public knowledge about what happened. The unknown identity of the perpetrator. The terrible fate of their victim. Left for dead and never to speak again. It was fascinating and my theorising brain gets to work as it always did. Trying to explain the unexplained. To unmask a suspect only described in the most nebulous of ways.
Still, though, it tries.
How could an unassuming young man be the victim of such an evil-spirited crime and there be no leads?
I would soon find out.
TV off. Brain still whizzing with ideas. Time to turn that off, too. Friday is a big day at work, rest is important. Sleep eventually comes.
A knock awakens me. The red lights of the alarm clock on the nightstand read 4 AM.
Who the fuck is knocking at 4 AM?
I open the door. Nobody. Not a soul. A little pink coloured note lies on the bristled doormat.
"Welcome to the show.
Kisses."
I figure it was a dream. Or a nightmare. Slapping myself ought to wake me up.
Slap.
Slap.
Slap.
No luck. Now I'm confused and have red cheeks. The note is the same as the one described in the video from last night. The note that started it all. Was somebody playing a stupid prank on me? How would they even know what I had been watching last night?
Head is spinning now. Sleep won't come and the note mocks me from the pillow beside mine. The first sunlight of the day peeking through my blinds jars me. I notice another note slipped under the door. Part of me knows what it'll read. Another part tries to forget.
"Tick.
Tock.
Tick.
Tock.
Tick.
Tock."
Heart sinks. The note is less pink and more red this time. I place it on top of the older one. They both sit.
Awaiting the next.
Work could wait. That thing today isn't important anymore. They'll understand when I show them the video.
The video.
I try to find it again. Type, search, scroll. Over and over. It hides from me. Out of sight, never out of mind. The name of the channel is beyond me too. I search outside of YouTube. My name, my town, my apartment building. Again, nothing. My existence remains as unremarkable as ever. But I know it shouldn't be.
Maybe the video was a warning?
I pace around the bedroom. Theorising. Planning a way out. The next note would be hand-delivered.
Maybe the video was a taunt?
Barricading the door could work. Good idea. The couch works perfectly. I push it along the linoleum floor and it sits just right underneath the handle. I'm safe. They can't get in.
The video had to be a taunt.
That's why I could never find it again.
They were playing with their food.
The clock ticks along. Tick. Tock. They'll be arriving soon. Sundown, supposedly.
The last ray of sunlight fizzles out.

Polite. Timely. No words. No response from me, either. I stand frozen. Hoping for some otherworldly intervention. It doesn't come.

It grows louder. Then louder. Then louder.
The door handle rattles. The frame heaves. Over and over. It'll give way soon.

A tall man in a hood and glasses. Shadowy. Anonymous. A blood-red note clutched in his hands. He places it on the floor. Slides it across to me.
"I thank you for your viewership oh-so-kindly.

He lumbers over to me. Cleaver in hand. A blank portrait of a man. Time slows to a crawl. I try to run. To throw the nearest objects at him. No luck. He lumbers still. Slowly. Deliberate.
Tongue was the first to go. Tongue went agonisingly. Unhurriedly. Blood spewed all over. Screams lowered in volume until the tongue was all gone. Then nothing. Not for want of trying. Fingers went next. One by one until ten.
Consciousness went at the same time.
A ray of sunlight jolted me awake once again. Morning. Saturday. I lay in a drying pool of viscous crimson-red blood. Screams are still stifled. I shuffle towards the nightstand to grab the phone. I need help. The notes still lay there. Perfectly preserved. The most important one atop the others.
"911 what is your emergency?"
No words.
"If you can't talk right now, please use the keypad to answer my questions."
"Are you hurt? Please press 1 on your keypad for yes and press 2 for no."
Instinctual pressing leads to blood on the keypad from stubby "fingers". I use my knuckles instead.

"Do you need immediate assistance? Again, press 1 on your keypad for yes and press 2 for no."
It hurts. I switch knuckles.

"Thank you, we will send a unit as soon as possible. Please stay on the line."
Pain sears through my body. My now incomplete body. I wait.

Instinct screams at me. A mundane sound now takes on an intensely sinister energy.
I freeze, again.
This time, the right people break in.
I pass out, again.
A hospital room greets me the next time I awake. He did more damage than I thought. 13 weeks in a coma. Learning to walk again. To talk. To be something resembling normal.
Every day I find myself looking for that video.
Every day it remains out of sight.

Prologue

Hello and welcome to my post. I will subdivide this into two large parts. One will cover my thoughts, feelings, my hopes and dreams...While the other will tell you the specifics of how I pass the time, what topics interest me, what passions do I posses. I believe that at the end of this leap into my inner world, you dear reader, will have all the necessary information to judge whether we are compatible or not.

Part I
I am writing this in the hopes of finding something that I lack. Lately I have had this feeling, this tinge of melancholy within the dephts of my being, this yearning to find a kindred spirit, another Soul, much like mine, to form a bond with. Perhaps Loneliness is the right word for what is bothering me, but to use it seems to carry with it a connotation of ungratefulness. Ungratefulness for the people that I do have in my life, although none of them, of course, have the connection to me that I seek here.

I have found it increasingly necessary to seek in this Life a sort of purity of thought. What I mean is, I have began to undestand what ideas and concepts are ultimately compatible with my inner most Self, ergo what guidelines I have to follow to feel the most whole. Naturally I have likewise realised what I cannot add to my Self and what I will henceforth reject with all the power that I posses.

With this new context in mind, I now follow on the path of self improvement. I will now begin to mold my Self into my perfected idea of how the Self should be. This is certainly a significant undertaking, one that will not be easy to follow through on but one that I ultimately have to do. To me such context is essential. It is akin to a Guiding Star shining in the night. I will follow this Star for without it I am lost in the vast Darkness.

Looking back at my life, it was suboptimal, especially if one compares the way it molded me to how I will now mold myself. I suppose I must look on with a hint of regret at all that time which one might consider to be lost. Still... I try to stave off such decisively negative interpretations, after all, I have ultimately came to these conclusions. That means that somewhere along the line I had to have picked up on enough of such ideas for them to become so cemented in my consciousness. Well, either that or I was always like this, but in that case I can at least thank my life up to this point for not being able to supress such manifestations of my inner most Self.

To add to the topic of my life, I must admit that not all the battles have yet been won, not all the Demons vanquished, not every Mountain climbed. I want you to keep such things in mind when deciding whether or not to approach me. Many will shy away, I undestand that much, but the pursuit of true Companionship is just another such battle. Having said all that I do believe that being able to overcome hurdles together carries with it a certain appeal. That is to say, what's the fun in joining once the Game is already over?

I don't shy away from such challenges, perhaps to a fault. Certain troubles that I faced in the past carry with them a long shadow over my current health and well being. Still, I intend to change little in this regard other than the proficiency with which I will clash the current of my Will against the cliffs of Life.
Part II
In this part of my post I will tell you about my interests and hobbies, I will try to be thorough, commonality in this regard is rather important to build a relationship
History. I have had an interest in history for almost a decade now, it started back in school and developed from there. Well, now that I think about it one could argue that it started even earlier in my life as I liked watching the odd historic documentary or film aired on television but it wasn't regular back then, I never actively sought it out. I am mostly interested in European history in the period between the 18th-20th century but I sometimes branch out to other time periods and other parts of the world. I watch various channels related to history and read articles and sometimes books. I have recently got a few books on the German revolution of 1848/1849 and a historical magazine on the Thirty Years' War. Besides that I try to visit museums sometimes.
Literature. Especially old novels. I like to immerse myself in the Worlds of these books, I tend to read them while listening to thematically fitting music and take my time with them. One time you are following a troubled Youth in his quest for spiritual understanding of the world, another you see the aged and decrepit Doctor gambling his very Soul on the promises of abtaining satisfaction in earthy pleasures, then again your olfaction notices the most pleasant scent known to man even as the one eminating it has the appearance of a revolting Frog. These and many other stories open up to you once you decide to set foot into the literary World.
Languages. I know three, with one being a bit rusty. I am currently working intently on strengthening it. I believe that if I continue to apply myself in this regard then I should be able to finally conquer it. What language am I working on? Well, if you were to stack all the major works in it they would be as tall as a house... It is fun to go through different works in multiple languages, the same goes for film, games and such.
Games. I recently played Cyberpunk 2077. Well as recently as I played any major story centric game. Now that the dust has settled and the bugs mostly removed...It's not that bad. The main questline at least. Besides that I tried Fallout 76 (Very average, I'm dissapointed with what they made the "RPG" system) and I might give Deus Ex Manking Divided another spin (since it's somewhat similar to Cyberpunk when it comes to its aesthetics). Dark Souls is one of my favorite series, I still haven't beaten Elden Ring though. When it came out I wasn't in the right mindset to invest a hundred hours into it, with all those bosses and difficult locations. I think I'll only consider playing it if I am streaming it to someone. I am generally interested in either streaming games or having the person I am talking to stream them to me. To be specific I mean streaming to a single person while being on call. Besides that I'm a big fan of Paradox strategy games, especially Europa Universalis IV and Heats of Iron IV, I tend to only play single player since I find multiplayer with many people to be rather stressful but on the other hand I have nothing against a co-op game. I'm not the best player though, despite the ammount of hours I have in them. Another great game I would mention would be Dragon's Dogma. A very underrated RPG. I recently beat it again and it was an atmospheric and interesting experience. It is one of those games that feel like they have an endless ammount of depth and constant new secrets to discover.
Anime and Manga. In recent times my interest in them has waned but I still watch the occasional series here and there. Like Cyberpunk Edgerunners (Which I found to be rather mediocre) and the very good first season from the new arc of Bleach. Some of my favourite series include: Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood, Death Note, Fate;Zero, Psycho Pass, Code Geass and Attack on Titan. I wouldn't mind if you were to introduce me to some new series, maybe based on the ones I mentioned. My favourite Manga is Berserk which I still follow, althought I am still not certain on the direction that the new author is taking. I suppose it really is a matter of contention whether a somewhat (or considerably warped) vision is better than an unfinished work. One could argue that a few novels remain unfinished and possess a macabre appeal to them as such.
Music. Classical music has a very special place in my heart. A few of my favourite pieces would be: Clair de Lune, Nocturne Op. 9 No.2, Devil's Trill Sonata, Danse Macabre, Valse Sentimentale, Symphony No. 7 in A Major, Op. 92: II. Alegreto (by Beethoven) and Suite from Swan Lake, Op. 20a: I. Scene. Moderato. There are more but these ones always invoke something in me when I listen to them. Besides Classical I also enjoy listening to Synthwave, old Western pop and J-pop, both modern and from the 20th century.
Esotericism. I am interested in things spiritual, mystical, magical and esoteric. I have read religios texts, magical grimoires, introductions to various schools of thought. It is interesting to me.
Epilogue
Hopefully I was able to cast the spotlight upon my inner World in a clear and unequivocal manner. I feel the need to add to the aforementioned that I am rather introverted, which means that I tend to dislike large social gatherings. I managed to condition myself to be able to endure the presense of large groups of people but it isn't something that I would seek out in most cases. Besides that I am neurodivergent and suffer from certain issues with mental health. I have to take medication to keep myself under control. They work well enough but certain days are harder than others. I respect the struggle that others have with mental health but in the context of a relationship I have my limits, no one with BDP for instance. I am also not looking for anything casual. I understand than one cannot demand depth and meaning from a conversation with an absolute stranger, that is akin to trying to build a sand castle right before the waves strike but I ask at least that you enter with a mindset that this might become something of significance. I also do want to say that I am completely Monogamous. My preference? The sickly, pale, intellectual who watches rain droplets slide down the window in Autumn. Lastly, if I enjoy the company of a person I tend to not want to let them go.

Goodbye...Or perhaps untill we meet again

Feeling bothered and need someone to bring me back down to Earth.
Partner can hold his liquor, when he has a business trip, I would go with him since lodging is paid for. Several times, on the trips he would go out drinking with his coworkers. I do remember one of these times years ago, I was very upset because I didn't know my parter would be out so late and was getting worried when he wasn't back until after midnight. Once he came back, he stumbled to the bed and then passed out.
The next morning, I told him how upset and worried I was that he didn't text me at all the entire evening and I had no idea where he was or if he'd be safe. He said not to worry and he apologized because he was in an underground bar and didn't have signal. I told him he needs to let me know next time.
Now, most recently, he went on a business trip where I tagged along again. This time, he had mentioned he'd be hanging out with his coworkers. He texted me 8pm showing me he the food he was eating with his coworkers, and I let him know I also finished dinner and was heading back to the hotel. At 10:30pm he texted that he's "lit". At 11pm, I responded to let him know I brought back some leftovers for him to try. At 12am I asked a question about an unrelated topic. By now, I was peeved he wasn't back yet with no updates but had a feeling he's probably going to stumble in at 2 or 3 so I might as well just go to bed. While I'm asleep, at 2am he texted me another time repeating that he's "lit".
Then I wake up to the noise of him coming into the hotel room. He announces that he has food from a halal cart he's been mentioning that he wanted to try. I was grumpy he'd woken me up. I let him know how upset I was that he didn't text all night, then he apologized and kept insisting I eat the halal food even though I'm not hungry at all and wanted to sleep. He seemed upset that I didn't want to try the food since he said he waited for it for 30 minutes. I saw he got two boxes, one of the box had plastic spoons in it, where he said he had tried a bite from that one. I grabbed one spoon and took a few bites from the other untouched box. Meanwhile, I was trying to explain to him how upset I was and how I'd also brought back food for him to try that I wanted to hear his opinion on. He fell asleep while I was talking to him.
Next morning I wake up and see a new Google photos on my phone. We have a shared album where photos are added if it detects our faces (since we take many photos together or of each other). He must have set his to add *any* photo with himself, not just of or with me. I saw a new photo and thought it was me and him who took a selfie, but then I don't remember taking this photo. The girl did not have the same color hair as me. My bf and this girl are together smiling, her face was a couple inches from his shouldeface where she's in the middle of laughing and they both looked very happy. Looked like a cute couple's photo.
I immediately show him the photo and ask who that is, he laughed and said that's his coworker and that he was so drunk that he doesn't remember taking that photo. I'm surprised he's treating this so lightheartedly because everything about the photo's existence was bothering me.
Long story short, I kept asking him about the girl and what he was doing, in which he said he forgot and doesn't remember where or when he took the photo. It sounded like he was with other coworkers too, but I didn't understand why he'd only take a selfie with this one person and not with the whole group, and how it'd be awkward for other people to watch them take a photo like that. I continued questioning and thinking about this photo. Later that night, I ended up looking at the metadata of the picture. It was taken around 2am, at the halal cart. So that means he went to go with this girl to get the halal food together. Zooming into the photo, I see the halal bag and the girl is holding a spoon. So one of the spoons might have been used from her? I'd like to mention that this woman would have fit "his type", in my opinion, though he disagrees.
Apparently Google has a location tracking timeline, which he showed me, and basically after hanging out with his coworkers, he _might_ have asked who'd want to go get halal food with him, in which he ended up walking for 30 minutes with this woman to the halal place. They waited there for 30 minutes, they both tried it and he snapped a selfie. Then he walked her back near her hotel (he didn't go inside because Google would have likely mentioned that he stayed there for some time), and then walked back to our hotel.
Now, the thing is that I'd never expected my partner to be someone who'd do anything to cheat on me, especially since he's been emotionally cheated on before. However, it's been really bothering me that he doesn't remember being with the girl coworker at all. All he remembers is being at the halal cart to order food, then back walking to our hotel. It's concerning that he just somehow forgot the entire time he was hanging out with a whole other person. I decided to calmly let him know how it hurts me and how next time he can't let himself get to that state again, to which he agreed. He admitted the photo was inappropriate and he shouldn't have gotten to a state where he didn't remember who he hung out with or what he did, he repeats that he'd never do anything "like that" or wrong me.
The issue is that he has another upcoming business trip, I'm not able to attend with him since I have other obligations. I know I can't control anyone in this world, but I'm worried he's going to do something that'll hurt me again (consciously or not) behind my back. Logically, I should just let this go and trust that he won't go overboard again. My preference is that he doesn't drink with his coworkers since I don't understand why it's necessary but he insists that he wants to/will have to. And I tell him that I would have had more trust if he had been able to show me that he's able to drink with his coworkers and be in control, but the last several times this played out the opposite way. I'm not sure how I should deal with this situation, since I know I'm going to have the same feeling of worry as I was back in the hotel room, except now for the first time instead of worrying about his safety, I'm worried that he's going to be hanging out with another girl and will forget about it again (?? feels bizarre I'd ever be thinking this).
I don't want to be someone who even needs to worry about this stuff, and I understand that he has the freedom to choose to drink if he wants to. I'm worried that he's going to go overboard again and I'll just never know what ended up happening because I'm not there. Sometimes I think of how if I never saw that selfie, or if he never took it, then we both would have never even known that they hung out.. and that I would have never known that my partner would allow himself to let a girl get that close, even for a photo.
For context, we're in a long term serious relationship and this is someone who I do envision seeing myself marrying. I don't think this is something big enough for me to break up with him over, but it does make me question his maturity and reliability when it comes to free and unsupervised drinking.
TLDR: I'm worried and don't trust that that my partner can keep in control when he goes out drinking with his coworkers. What do I do or how to handle this feeling for his upcoming business trip?

I (F/ 16) and my friends are going on a trip together and i dont know whether i'm overreacting. (ima going to use alias names) me, allie and nora have been best friends for three years-- it used to be 4 (so there was a pair and a pair) but we stopped being friends with her. so now we are working as a "trio" but deep down i know its a duo + me. they've been hanging out with james and liam a lot recently (me and liam have a past together so it’s kinda awk between us) and become a little group. i dont mind that they are friends at all, because i wouldn't want to be in their little group because of liam. but due to them getting closer i kinda feel like they are on the fence about me. almost like they are on the verge of dropping me, but i can't tell. they invite me to stuff sometimes when it's a bigger group, but's the type of thing if there only 5 seats in the car i'd probably wouldn't be "able" to go. if u get what i mean. but they still talk to me everyday and I still hang out with them on a regular basis also nora is the type of person who gets really defensive/angry when you bring up any type of problem to her, and allie will just follow whatever nora does.
on this trip there are tons of rooms, with king beds and everything. allie and nora said that they get the master (king bed) bc they put the whole trip together and it was their idea. which i didn't really mind at first, because i was going to share beds with lexi. however lexi backed out last minute so that leaves me wondering where i'm going to sleep. there are four other girls going on this trip, sofia, olivia, emma and isabella. sofia and isabella both have boyfriends so they are going to be sharing with them, so that leaves me olivia and emma. nora is friends with emma, and has been for around a half a year so she is way closer to her than any of us. (nora's kind of a floater friend so she has a lot of friends if other groups). i figured why not nora and emma share a bed together since i dont really know her and then me and allie can just share. but no. nora wants her and allie to be in the master bedroom (which is huge btw). not to mention, allie's mom and her brother are also going on the trip, since her mom is our "chaperone". but they aren't getting the master, they're getting another room with just a regular bed. personally i think that allie's mom and her brother should get the master bed because it has its own bathroom too so they wouldn't have to keep leaving their room, and they can jus kind of stay in their own space. i brought up to nora that she's going to have to fit another person in the king bed with her and allie, because that's just so much space for two people when we are trying to fit 19 people in here. i assumed since me allie and nora have been friends forever that i would go in there with them, and i asked allie about it and she said it was good. later i texted nora abt what me and allie agreed on but she was like "no i already promised it to emma she'll get so pissed". so you can't piss off emma but your not concerned about my feelings? so i was like "oh alr who would i sleep with" she goes "emma". so i was like "isn't emma sleeping with you" "no you two would share and if we need to add someone in the bed with me and allie it would be emma". so im jus like uhhh ok?? she laid out the sleeping arrangements and a general overview of who is sleeping where, and let me jus break it down. room 1 (master): allie and nora = king bed. room 2: 8 guys = 2 queen beds + sofa bed. room 3: isabella (nora's cousin) + her bf = queen. room 4: sofia + her bf. room 5: allie's mom + allie's brother. room 6: me, emma, oliva = full bunk beds w/ pull out. I just feel like the best rooms are getting reserved for allie and nora and their fam and literslly gave us the worst room. allie's mom didn't pay nor her brother. and nobody paid more/less for betteworse rooms. so why do they get the best rooms? like jeez even the 8 boys got better rooms than us. and the boys arent even going to be able to fit in that one room bc they are trying to keep a king to just 2 people.
I just feel like they're not looking out for me at all because they text the guys more than me and have more connections in general., but I don't know how to confront them (or if I even should) about it because if I do, I feel like Nora is just going to start getting really angry and defensive, and allie just gonna go along with whatever she says. Not only that but I don't wanna get dropped by them because I really value our friendships but they're treating me like shit and I know that I just don't know how to stop it or whether they care enough. What should I do? also, let me know if I'm overreacting or expecting too much from them, I just feel like since we've known each other for the longest, and always been a "group" we would be togethethey would help me figure out rides and stuff. but idk
